Weird Touchpad / TrackPad problem on T60

Question: Weird Touchpad / TrackPad problem on T60

Hi Lenovo & all, I use the trackpoint most of the time, but recently after updating the drivers for a number of times from Lenovo update manager I found out that the touchpad on my T60 is not working right. Symptom is that whenever my T60 is tilted forward or backward (i.e. not sitting horizontally flat), then there will be great difficult trying to control the pointer with the touchpad (not responding, etc). Did somebody encounter similar problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Weird Touchpad / TrackPad problem on T60

I found that the problem can be due to the palm rest region being pressed down my my palm:If I press the palm region up on the edge (as it flex a little bit when I use force), then the touchpad works fine even when the laptop is tilted. However, when I stop pressing up on the edge, especially after I have put my palms onto the palm rest to type again, then the touchpad stop behaving normally again It is a design fault of T60, or is it just my T60? Can I have it fixed?

Hello. I wonder if there are any solutions for the following problem I am having with my touchpad. The touchpad mouse is extremly glitchy Please help, as this is a really basic requirement for any touchpad. I am currently a little disappointed as this is the most expensive laptop i have ever purchased. The touchpad/ imagepad has many functions, but the simple ability to be unable to point to exactly where you need to 20% of the time, is making this almost unusable. Notebook details: HP Envy 17 - Windows 7 - Model - 17-3270NR I look forward to your help guys! Thank you.

Couple of problems surfacing with the Yoga now. Nothing too troublesome, just would like an answer. This one is that when using the trackpad only, I get a weird lag. This is best shown in the online golf game "World Tour Golf Online" as you have to drag the mouse whilst holding the left button to get power. The 'power bar' starts moving slowly (not in time with my finger) and will then shoot up and go further than I expect. Then as the power comes back, you have to click your mouse button to hit the shot, and this is like at least 1 second out (click the pad down and a second later, it locks the power). I know this sounds like its game related, but I definitely notice it in general use of the trackpad too, this is just the best visual example I could think of. Using a normal mouse in the game does not give the same results and is 'instant' and consistant in its use. Weird!!? I've tried rolling back the synaptic drivers to the previous versions, but no different. Any ideas?

In this post someone found a firmware Dell for XPS13, Is there something similar for 5559?

You can update the System Setup(BIOS)and see if that make an difference. Please click on the link below:

Just making sure I'm reading your post correctly, you do have the precision touchpad on the Inspiron 5559 ? Correct ? If you don't know for sure, go to device manager, stroll down to "Mice And Other Pointed Devices, and then expand it. Hopefully, you'll see touchpad driver.

My touchpad and trackpoint stopped working at the same time suddenly a few days ago. I tried re-installing the drivers but nothing happened. I looked up this forum and tried resetting BIOS to defaults. After doing this the trackpoint has started working but the touchpad still does not work. When I open the mouse properties in the control panel I get a message saying "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device driver. If you have installed another PS/2 device please Uninstall the Synaptics driver. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to Uninstall the Synaptics driver now?"Is there something I can do to get the touchpad working?

I hope someone can help me with this weird problem
My laptop is Satellite U405-S2833 with 1.2 GB Core 2 duo.

It came with a Vista home premium operating system, but I later added XP professional to it (Dual booting)
About 10 months ago, the touchpad as well as the 3 USB ports stopped functioning. Two of the ports will not recognize peripherals, but could power the items, while the third was totally redundant. Since then, I have been using an express card USB adapter for attaching an external mouse and other peripherals. The problems were occurring in both operating systems.
Laptop technicians have had a look at it to no avail.

Here comes the weird part: On occasions when I had to repair or install windows, the pad works perfectly, only to stop working after windows has fully installed.

NB: I have updated the BIOS to the latest version (4.0). Windows 7 RC also exhibited the same problem

Hello everyone,  I am having to send my Lenovo ThinkPad P50 to the service depot to have the touchpad and perhaps more replaced due to the trackpad not performing properly. The right click works intermittently both on the bottom and top right click button. The scroll feature at times stops working and the left click usually starts performing right click operations randomly. I knew it wasn't the driver after uninstalling and reinstalling it a few times including the keyboard driver. Has anyone here ever had to have their touchpad replaced?

Answer:Replacing Touchpad/Trackpad

Hi RegEdit1 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As the touchpad and buttons may have erratic behavior but not when using a USB mouse, then best that you have your warranty coverage work for you as the entire upper case that includes the touchpad mechanism to be checked.

Reviewing the hardware disassembly guide would take several screws needed to be worked at for the repair.
Sending it over could be a good option in terms of hardware issue for full functionality check.

Regards

Today my x201 has lost all trackpad and touch pad function.   Hard disk constantly running.   No restore points listed to help remove the problem.   Everything works okay in Safe Mode.   Rebooting several times has not helped. Could this be related to the Microsoft Bad KB.......69 update? I have not installed any new software recently. I can only use the pen to access menus.    How can I remove recent KB installations using just the pen? Hope someone can help me soon Update:   I have managed to remove the bad MS update but to improvement.   Next I added a new user (also set as administrator) and the trackpad and touch pad function is now working normally but only with the new user account. Would someone tell me if I can remove my own Administrator Account and what effect this will have,  i.e. what data might I lose?   Can I save data and reinstall it to a new account?

Answer:Trackpad and touchpad not working

Hi Beemer,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that trackpad and touchpad is not working properly in your Lenovo ThinkPad X201.

Since the devices work fine in safe mode, probably a corrupted driver is causing the issue. Go to control panel -> Device manager, uninstall the drivers listed under Mice and other pointing devices. Restart the system and let Windows install the generic drivers for the device. Check if the trackpad and touchpad works fine now. Later, you may download the drivers from Lenovo Support page and install them. If you have any difficulties in finding the driver, please share the MTM number of your device.

Click here to understand how to transfer files and settings from one user account to another with administrator rights.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I dunno if it's a touchpad or a trackpad I have but there was a program along with it called like Apoint or something that would run and allowed me to change the settings on the touchpad. I have looked and can find no other way of accessing the touchpad settings. Well the last time I remember it working was before I updated Windows Vista, well now the program no longer runs I had it set to disable the touchpad when an external mouse was detected and it no longer does that. I went into its folder located at C:\Program Files\DellTpad\Apoint.exe and double clicked it and nothing happened. It use to run at startup but no longer does and I checked and it is still set to run at startup but does not, any clues as to what is going on? I believe I am using Windows Vista Home Premium.
I managed to fix it by going to Device Manager in the control panel uninstalling Dell Touchpad and rebooting.

I have a Lenovo x220tablet, alltough it took some time to adjust. But now i'm happy with it. But there's something wrong with the trackpad. I allready taught myself to use it without the pysical buttons in the bottom, and now make fully use of al that synaptics has to offer. But sometimes I have to use the buttons, because it comes handy when dragging something or whatever. At first, I did not like the buttons, but the where usable, but with time, they got worse. It is very hard to explain this for me in English, but, thats why I made a little movie which is linked below. Anyone suggestions what to do about it?Of course I've used google, and found many many topics about the trackpad, but that were mostly driver problems. http://youtu.be/a4XyxWopbt8 The click is so loud, it seems to get stuck somewhere and I have to push very hard. Almost like there's something stuck, like sand between it. But it's perfectly clean.Any advise (besides; do not use it) is welcome. And apologies for my English

Answer:X220t trackpad/touchpad

Hi, timpel_800

From the looks, sounds, and general functionality of the TrackPad, I would guess that there is a hardware issue of sorts. In the video, you say that the click function works, but only if you do it twice, correct? And the noise was far louder than a TrackPad is supposed to be, I think. With all this in mind, I would contact support and see if you can get this repaired. The number for support in the Netherlands is +31 (0)20 513 3939 and is open Monday through Friday 9am-5pm.

Best of luck,
Adam

Hi 1) I just bought the Y580 online. The trackpad is terrible. - How do I make the right-side and bottom touch scrolling to work ? just like a normal laptop ?? - I changed the sensitivity settings and inspite of that the motion of the cursor is not uniform. When the right side of my finger is contact with it, the cursor stops moving a little and it is okay with the center of my finger.Do any of you experience this? If not, I need to get this looked into. I don't think the problem is with the software, it's just the material with which the trackpad is made, does not have a right coefficient of friction. - The two finger scrolling does not start. When I do the two finger scroll, the cursor change is seen almost 10 seconds later and even after that, it is almost impossible to scroll through my pages. Is that the case for everyone?  - The left/right click on the trackpad is noisy 2) Made the mistake a buying a lower resolution screen. How do I return this thing? When I talked to sales they are asking for a 15% "restocking" fee. That is terrible as well. I never should have gone with Lenovo.

Answer:Y580 Trackpad (or Touchpad) Help

- Not sure if there is a right side and bottom touch scrolling, will test it tonight- not uniform? Means if you place your finger on the right side of the touchpad then move to the center compared to the center move to the left, the distance is different?- 2 finger scrolling not tested, will check it tonight- I am not sure how to help you with the touchpad being noisy when clicking. Do note that this is a 1 piece touchpad compared to the conventional touchpad with 2 buttons below which is different. Use double tap on touchpad to do a left click but right click is unavoidable. - low res screen... can check with sales if you can top-up for upgrade?hope this helps.

If I press any of the trackpad keys the cursor is unresponsive for ~2 seconds. The problems occurs a while after booting. If I restart the machine it doesn't happen. What should I do?

Answer:Trackpad keys freezing touchpad

I noticed exactly the same behaviour after upgrading the driver to version 15.3.2.0. Also when i use the trackpoint, the touchpad freezes 2 seconds..... Somehow the UltraNav driver always seems to give some kind of problems... :-( With the buttons it only happens with the red lined buttons above the touchpad. Not with the two buttons below it. --jan

Hi all,  Having puchased a X1 Carbon few days ago, I realised that my trackpad and touchpad are acting erractically when I use the mouse at the same time. I detected these erractic movements due to some accidental touching of the trackpad and touchpad.  For example; my trackpad cursor would display a vertical and horizontal scrolling icons when I move the trackpad and I could not scroll my document using my mouse and touchpad. The scrolling icons would disappear after a short while and I would no longer move the cursor with the trackpad. However, the trackpad and mouse are able to move the cursor. However, scrolling remain unresponsive. I restart the machine and all is fine again till I tried to control the cursor with the trackpad again. I tried to disable the trackpad and touchpad since I have a mouse connected but only the trackpad can be disable.  This is my first Thinkpad and I assume users will disable both the trackpad and touchpad with a connected mouse. I do not know if these problem exist out of the box since I connect the mouse to it on my 3rd day of usage and I found them due to the accidental touching of the trackpad last night. Further trial and error confirmed their erratic movements. I tried to re-install the drivers and navipoint but the issue remained.  Is my trackpad and mousepad having problem for these erratic movements and by default, both the trackpad and touchpad cannot be disabled in Thinkpad?

Dell,
Touchpad  replacing  Trackpad  in Laptops

Users of the laptops are feeling difficult to use the touchscreen facility in the recent laptops, because the screen is perpendicular to the hand and fingers. In most of the laptops, the trackpad and the area left and right of it are vacant.  This area can be used as touchpad replacing trackpad,  as shown in the following figures.  This new touchpad is parallel to the hand and so easy to write, scribble, select, swipe and do digital signatures.

The touchpad can be enabled to function as trackpad using special key combination(s).  Many app and program icons can be displayed on this touchpad similar to those in tablets and smartphones.
Additional modifications can be included in this idea to make this feature very useful in laptops, desktops, All in one computers.
Reference:
The Touch Bar on MacBook Pro.
This Touch Bar on MacBook Pro is very small, difficult to view and difficult to reach by fingers for digital signatures and other actions as mentioned in the following weblink.

Guys I see hundreds of posts on this old and aggravating topic with totally guesswork "answers" from Microsoft, help forums, including this one. There has to be an answer, right?

BTW this seems common on all types of laptops irrespective of make. I have tried this with both the vendor [lenovo] driver and with standard MS provided "mouse" driver. No diff in this regard though the packages are very different [lenovo very complex]
Also, this is a new phenomenon on this particular unit. In the past, no issues. Windows power-plan update?

as title says. Use laptop. Leave laptop [plugged in or not does not matter]. Return to use laptop after hours. Laptop awakes by normal means but no touchpad/trackpad etc function. Logoff, logon, still no touchpad cursor movement [frozen in centered position].

There is no Power Plan setting for "mouse" or touchpad or trackpad.
There is no Advanced Tab in Device Manager for same
There is no sleep/power/etc settings anywhere in Device Manager for same
There is no Windows error related to the problem
Full reboot required to gain coherency

Something in Power Mgmt, I guess, is offing the touchpad but the parameter is not obvious.

Someone somewhere knows this answer, right??

Answer:Touchpad Trackpad inoperable after sleep

Other then the button to disable the trackpad being somehow accidentally pushed, A lot of the times this problem is reported, And I keep going through all the options. If you have done all the fixes, the problem is most likely with the touchpad itself on the laptop. It is usually a hardware issue. I would call the laptop company and go through their troubleshooting steps (even though forums usually cover all those angles well). But it is usually hardware if all the fixes that are suggested are applied.

Scrolling in chrome is giving me a headache.  And I can't for the life of me find the touchpad settings for my new Yoga 910.  I searched both the control panel and metro settings with no luck.  I even went into the device manager and no touchpad to be found.  Usually there's a tab in the mouse properties but for some odd reason it doesn't exist on this computer.  Any direction would be much appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm having problems with the touchpad buttons: the system can't distinguish a left click from a right click. Whenever I click one of the two buttons the system reads it as if I'm clicking on both and keep pressing. I tried also to disable them and use the trackpad but also those buttons are not working well. They just work for a couple of minutes and then they stop. However if I run the Thinkvantage suite they seem to work fine and the system reads the click properly. What do you think is wrong? Thanks

Answer:Touchpad and Trackpad Buttons not Working

Today I noticed both my touchpad and joystick stopped working.  I could move the cursor but the clicks would not register.  I restarted and it worked again.  I recall a couple of days ago I updated the drivers, one of them I think was for the touchpad.

I just got this laptop today and immediately noticed the same exact thing.  It's driving me nuts and really creating problems navigating.  I am really hoping this can be fixed with a software update and it's not hardware related.  I'm also wondering if this is just a flaw on certain units or all of them act like this.

I recently got this new Thinkpad T460p and installed Windows and Ubuntu in dual boot. Even after 3 Days there was no error. But today I noticed a quite annoying behaviour. When I boot into Windows (Start up --> Grub, select Windows Loader --> Windows 10 starts) there appears the loading cycle (those white points) and for a short moment, even before the locked Windows screen appears, I can see the cursor. But immediately after that (when the locked home screen appears) the laptop won't recognize any input via touchpad, buttons or trackpad andthere won't appear a cursor at all. I need to login and wait for about a minute (Whatever I do, the laptop won't recognize anything but the normal keyboard), thats the moment in which my Laptop realizes that there are more possibilities to input data then just the keyboard and recognizes everything (touchpad, buttons and trackpad).I already deinstalled the synaptic driver and reinstalled the latest update and even tried the one before that one just to be sure. Nothing fixed my problem yet.PS.: When I start into Ubuntu there is no Problem at all.PPS.: When I started into Windows a day ago It worked fine as well.

Hello all, 3 days ago, on June 14, the touchpad on my Twist s230u stopped working. No apparent reason for this (tried to undo windows updates / system restore but did not help). I have to power the computer down once more and restart it. I'm running Windows 8.1, 64 bit. I tried to reinstall the new synaptic drivers but it did not help. Thank you in advance for your ansers. Cy

The trackpad and touchpad of my Yoga stops working: the cursor freezes and after a while disappears from screen. Once the cursor is gone it does not appear again, even after a clean reboot. I have tried to enable it via the Control Panel Mouse settings or Input section of ?Lenovo Settings? application but had no success.
The problem has happened several times so far, always after the laptop sleeps due to inactivity. The only way I have found so far to bring the trackpad and touchpad back is by going to the BIOS settings and restoring the default configurations (I have never changed the BIOS settings on this PC, so I can?t figure out why this solves momentarily the problem).

Any ideas on why this problem is happening, and how to solve it without messing with the BIOS settings?

This is becoming really annoying, it has happened three times since yesterday (10/23/15).

My BIOS version when this first happened was 1.26 (GQET46WW), my current BIOS version is 1.27 (GQET47WW). My laptop runs Windows 10 Pro (automatically updated from the Windows 8.1 version delivered with the laptop).

Hi, Since i've upgraded my laptop (T440s) to win10 (fromwin8.2) the trackpad and the touchpad have been disabled. I've tried to downgrade my touchpad driver and it works approximately (just the click and the trackpad and i can't access to the configuration panel: ultranav). I've already tried to find the last driver on Lenovo website but it didn?t fix it. Is there a driver that works propely with win10 ?  If not, is there another way to fix touch/trackpad? If not how can I force my computer to stay on the previous driver after reboot (win10 automatically update my drivers at each reboot)? Many thankstd

HI All I am in need of help please i have a X1 Carbon that was Recently purchased for a user at our office. But as you can tell from the subject of this topic the touchpad and trackpad stops working working after a few minutes of working on the machine.  I used Lenovo System Update to update all the drivers to the latest version and this was not successfull, I then tried a reinstall  of windows and the manually downloaded the driver from lenovo website and installed it but still no luck. I have checked and they are not disabled in the Bios and they are not and the Bios is on the latest version I have also tried to let it run on the windows driver that downloads from windows but also it stops working. from what it looks like the trackpoint and touchpad disable cause when i go into the mouse properties the option to enable them both is greyed out i then log on as the local admin to see if it is a permission thing but it is also greyed out. This happens regardless if the machine is on battery or plugged inThis user travels  alot and needs them both to be working.  I came across the below forum but i dont see much of a response from lenovo.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-touchpad-and-trackpad-stops-working...

Unfortunately, the trackpad and touchpad of my T460p stop working intermittently. The problem seems to occur after the laptop is going into hibernation. When it boots up afterwards, neither the trackpad nor the touchpad or the mouse buttons work, and the device manager shows the Synaptics device having a hardware issue. The problem persists when rebooting the system and even when using a different operation system (e.g. Ubuntu via a Live USB). I tried upgrading the Synaptics drivers (v19.0.19.1), which does not solve the problem though. I also tried different driver versions (e.g. the ones offered on the Lenovo site), without success. I encountered this problem both on Windows 10 Home & Windows 10 Enterprise Edition, as well as various Linux flavors (Ubuntu, Fedora). The only workaround that I found is to shut down the laptop, remove the battery and reboot it afterwards, which seems to reset the faulty state the touchpad is in. I strongly suspect that this is a problem with the firmware of either the mainboard or the Synpatics device itself, which puts it into an invalid state when going into hibernation. For now, I disabled hibernation mode, which avoids the problem but is not ideal of course. Did someone else run into this problem? Any ideas how to permanently fix this? I'm very happy with the T460p otherwise but this problem just drives me crazy as it's impossible to use a laptop without touchpad/trackpad when traveling.

Hello, I posted as a part of another thread before but decided to make my own thread for this. I have lost my lenovo partition and reinstalled windows 10 on a fresh install.  This has resulted in my trackpad being rendered unfunctional. I have tried all sorts of drivers to try and get it working but alas nothing has worked. I contacted the live support and they just told me to install the Lenovo companion and give that a go with the drivers from that, but it did nothing to help and ended up downloading the same drivers I tried before.   I have the same issues in Ubuntu also and there is no activity when it comes to the pad, the buttons dont work nor does the motion.  I have looked around on the internet and found next to no solutions for the problem I have.    On my device manager I have however one single unknown device, which I have tried to install drivers onto and that doesnt work also, so I have no idea what that could be.   I would like any advice at this point becuase its driving me mad and I am unable to return the laptop due to being currently in another country.   Thanks in advance.

Hi so my Windows 10 XPS L502X touchpad has started behaving weirdly. I believe this is because of some Windows 10 updates, I am not sure.
The problem is that since laptop starts the left click seems to be sending clicked signal forever. Because of this on boot, the mouse starts in selection mode, I need to press the left click on an external mouse to disengage selection mode. But still the left click and tap to left click dont work.
But the weird part is when I change right touch pad button to left click behavior in settings. Then even the right button would now stop working. And if I change the left click button behavior to anything else then left click behavior then left click starts working too.
Hence coming to the conclusion that its a driver issue and not hardware problem.
However when I boot my laptop in Ubuntu, the left click is again in clicked mode and starts selecting stuff. Now if this was a driver problem then why is Ubuntu showing same issue. Is this a Hardware problem now. Now since dell officially does not support Win 10 on L502x. I request my fellow L502x owners using Windows 10 to share their driver details. And if anyone from Dell can share their thoughts. Regards.

Hi all,

I've basically spent the whole day looking for a solution (which I still don't think I have), so figured I'd try my luck here.

The trackpad/touchpad (mouse cursor) on the Dell XPS 13 (9343) will randomly freeze-up, stop scrolling, stop being able to mouse click, start randomly resizing/scrolling or will cease to do anything at all after a while. This is a known issue apparently and commonly experienced by most owners.

Does anyone know of an actual solution for this? Dell released a firmware update that supposedly addressed the issue however unfortunately mine started doing it again today to the point where I had to literally power the machine off and reboot.

From what I've read here:

YES!!! A SOLUTION/ACTUAL WORKING FIX! XPS Laptop's - Touchpad / Touch pad / Mouse issue. Windows 8/10 need apply. Scrolling in Chrome mirrors that of Edge. Now THIS is Precision. Scrolling you're actually used to seeing on a laptop. : Dell

It sounds like my next move might be to try installing the windows 10 PS/2 generic driver from Synaptics?

Any advice/help on this would be greatly appreciated! I can't really find any solutions or updates past 2015..

Between this and trying to update my sound driver, I'm losing my hair, FAST.

Following some extremely helpful posts here, I've succeeded in installing Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my HP Pavilion 15-n228us. I can't figure out how to adjust any settings on the touch pad / track pad, however. It's overly sensitive right now and interferes with typing. I assume I'm missing a driver that will enable me to control it?

Look in Control Panel, change View by: Small icons at top right. Now you should see Synaptics icon.Open it to configure Synaptics. If you don't have Synaptics or don't have settings needed, try this Synaptics driver: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64501-65000/sp64969.exe

Hello all,

I unboxed this laptop today and the touchpad does not respond very well often requiring a few seconds of "wiggling" before it will work. It is also quite jumpy.

I have tried changing various settings including the sensitivity and the plam prevention, but to no avail.

I have tried this with multiple operating systems, including launching directly from a disc, and the problem persists.

Has anyone else had this experience, or any advice to share regarding this matter?

Thank you all very much for your time.

Answer:Qosmio X870-119 - Trackpad/Touchpad is extremely unresponsive

Hello,

I, too, have just unboxed a Qosmio X870-119 and have the same problem with the touchpad.

I noticed that the "unresponsiveness" happens most often when I leave the touchpad idle and untouched for a few seconds. When I do that, it then takes a couple seconds of wiggling for the cursor to start moving.

I've also toyed with all the options in the provided software, but to no avail. Maybe there's a fault with the driver ?

Thanks in advance for any help with this matter.

I've been having an issue with my X270 laptop since I bought it. The laptop is running Windows 10. What happens is randomly (this can take weeks, or days) the trackpad and pointing stick completely stops working. The only solution is to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them using an external mouse. I've tried various versions of the drivers, including the latest, and it still continues to happen. Any solutions to fix this?

I've tried everything. No one had ever had this problem, except me. Searching online and Youtube proved to be no help. I beg all of you who have experience with issues like this to please read.

When I first brought my laptop (ASUS Q304UA) , it was perfectly fine and no problems. However, up until 7 months into using it, the trackpad suddenly became unresponsive out of no where. It would jump around and fly everywhere when using it. The multi touch gestures would make the screen go crazy and do all sorts of zooms, multitasking, etc when just trying to scroll down. It was definitely unusable.

This prompted me to RMA it to ASUS, which took them one month to repair it. They had apparently replaced only the hard drive claiming it was a "bad sector" or whatever... Upon several hours of use after repairs, the problem was back.

I then RMA'd it a second time which made them replace the motherboard and trackpad. Unfortunately, the problem did come back, except it took a little longer (5 days/ 1week).

Now I know that this is NOT hardware because I encountered that restarts, restores, etc all solve the problem temporarily and then comes back. When messing with programs and devices, I feel the mouse gets a little better for a couple minutes but then resumes to its terrible and erratic behavior, rendering my laptop COMPLETELY useless.

I cannot do ANYTHING with this trackpad as it constantly jumps around and teleport making it EXTREMELY difficult to click on the ... Read more

Hi I have an X100e (dual core turion ybased) which appears to have developed a problem with the left most key at the foot of the touchpad. Specifically, it has developed an annoying clicking sound periodically when in use. I believe the click may be something to do with a bar that may be sitting under the key to ensure that the whole key moves parallel to the keyboard when pressed (much like other wide keys such as the space bar, the shift or enter kes). What I would like to know is whether there is a way to reseat the key to resolve the clicking sound or whether rectification of the problem lies in returning the product to a service centre for the palm rest (part code: 60Y5284) to be changed. Roger

I have two issues and would appreciate any help.  In a nutshell: Bluetooth module is in place, but doesn't appear in Device Manager. What is the part no. for the cable that connects the bluetooth module?Touchpad/trackpad stopped working after disconnecting/reconnecting its ribbon cable (while checking the bluetooth module) - I can see the little gold fingers at the motherboard end are now messed up. What is the part no. for this trackpad ribbon cable? In more detail:1) On my T430S I replaced the bluetooth daughter board because I thought it might be faulty - but I can still not see any bluetooth hardware in device manager, and no driver installation seems to get it to show. Can someone please tell me the part no. of the ribbon cable and small board 'Bluetooth Wireless Radio Switch FPC' (see https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/documents/pd023563).2) After messing around with the bluetooth module (see above), thetrackpad/touchpad and trackpoint no longer work. I can see now that the ribbon cable's small gold fingers are damaged (the cable poking straight up from the trackpad and connecting to the motherboard. This is the more serious problem - but I can't work out what the part number is for this ribbon cable. My keyboard bezel does not have a fingerprint reader.Thank-you again for any help

Just got the Yoga Pro 2 this week. I'm noticing a small movement in my clickpad (or whatever its calls) when I lightly tap on it. It feels like there is a 2 to 3 millimeter pocket of space under it before it provides resistance for the actual click motion. If you take your finger and just lightly tap your finger on the touchpad do you hear and feel a slight vibration, like it might be loose? I know it has to move downwards motion to activate the mouse click buttons, but I feel like there is movement in the pad before I get resitance for the click motion. I'm wondering if this is the design or I just got a slightly off designed one. Does it feel solid on your Yoga Pro 2?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Clickpad Touchpad Trackpad movement and vibrations

I had the same problem with mine.  Every time I'd just lightly tap the pad in order to "click", I'd actually hear a click.  Very annoying.  Some odd movement under the pad that just didn't seem right. I ended up exchanging it at Best Buy (where I bought it).  The best buy guy tried to claim it was normal, but didn't mind at all when I insisted that I wanted to exchange.  The replacement has no issues.

I could really use some help with this. I've searched all over the net and there isn't a real solution to this. Most threads are closed or never answered. I have a Dell Vostro 1510 and everything works fine but when doing things fast or under high cpu load my trackpad locks up for a second and if I try to keep using it it will trail slowly until I stop for a second then go and it works again. Something is temporarily locking it up and it can be very annoying during some things.

It is a Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad. Using "device driver update" produced no new hardware that matched better than what I have currently. The funny thing I noticed is the device drivers for my model on Dell doesn't match what I have..

None of those 3 under Keyboard/Mouse match what I have. Or do they? I matched the synaptic version and it didn't match anything there. Here is a list of my shipped system specs:

Answer:Vostro 1510 Touchpad/Trackpad Freezes Randomly

Ran the Dell diagnostics and using the symptom tree I ran the 2 tests that fit this issue (I guess it's a real common problem for it to be standard in the system tree) and it didn't detect any errors/issues. All passed. By the way, to clarify what I meant by High CPU Load I was speaking of the cylinder light on the keyboard dash. I think that's actually for the HDD not CPU. So again it seems to happen when the hdd is already under load.

I am running the latest build of Windows 10 (build 10240).

Now that release date is coming driver updates are arriving for my laptop (Acer ES1-111M). One of which is for the Synaptics touchpad. When I apply this driver and restart my laptop the trackpad no longer works and the new driver has an error in Device Manager and cannot start.

This device cannot start (error code 10)

The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device.

If I try to update the driver it says the latest version is installed. I have to rollback the driver to the previous one supplied by Microsoft and the trackpad works again, However the entire process repeats when the Synaptics trackpad update is automatically installed again by Windows Update.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks.

Product: HP Spectre x360Product #: L0Q59UA#ABL Hi, I'm having a problem with the touchpad's sensitivity and responsiveness. My father bought me this laptop a week or two ago and it's been great. By far the best laptop I've had thus far, but now it is having a major issue with the touchpad. I've scoured and googled this problem and these forums and found similar things but all the solutions offered were ineffective and I'm also having some problems I didn't see reported about. The touchpad was fine at first, and whenever I restart the laptop, it's fine and works as intended. However, a few minutes into use, if that, it starts to act up. By this, I mean the following: The cursor does not go where I intend itIt's laggyLeft click results in that omni-directional scrolling icon and trying to move the mouse means scrolling/moving the page.Right click moves off to the side and is generally weird and cannot click accurately.I can no longer soft tap to click/select something. The mouse moves on its own. It's very erratic and makes typing or clicking or selecting very difficult. The page scrolls down on its own.I'm starting to think my laptop is haunted. There's more I can't think of right now, so I might edit the original post/comment with more info or make a subsequent post in this thread. I've tried to clean the touchpad with a lightly wetted towel (to get rid of any oil finger stains or whatever), and follow... I get this error message when I start up my
computer.

It's a Gateway Laptop model NE56R34u and it originally came with Windows 8 but I had a friend wipe that and install Windows 7. I did this because its for my mom and I thought 8 was going to be a little tough for her. So now it has Windows 7 on it.

Any idea what this could be? Also for some reason the trackpad won't work correctly (the scroll part on the right doesn't work) and I'm wondering if these are related.

Answer:Weird error message and trackpad scroll not working

Looks like a remnant registry key from Conduit Search malware, perhaps left behind after a malware scan.
conduit malware - Microsoft Community

adwcleaner would probably clean this up, along with any other debris, and does a pretty fast scan.

Not sure about the touchpad problem, but it doesn't seem likely they're related.
I'd check the mouse settings in the control panel and update the driver from Gateway.

So I have had a very... VERY... irritating problem with my Thinkpad. For the first 6 or so months I had the laptop it worked fine. Then, the left click on the touchpad was functioning like the right click (bringing up a menu).  I immediately disabled the touchpad and then used the trackpad right and left clicks which worked perfectly. After another 4 or 5 months, those buttons stopped working altogether. I could still use the touchpad to move the arrow, but I couldn't click on anything. I bought an external USB mouse and that worked fine for another 2 months. Then for a few weeks, it would work on and off. I'd have to wiggle it around in the USB ports to get the laptop to recognize it. (it had nothing to do with the ports... there were 3 of them and they all worked fine). Then it stopped working completely, AND, my laptop refuses to acknowledge ANY USB I plug in.  I have run out of options now. I can't even install anything, download any files from lenovo website. I can't do anything. Does anyone know if it is still salvageable? Has anyone had the same problem? The lenovo digitizer for tablets.... would that work for this thinkpad? (sorry... not as tech savvy as the rest of you) Thanks a bunch,Amanda

Hi guys, I am trying to maintain my doughter's school aptop but encountered something exceding my limited expertise. Since about 10 days the touchpad, buttons and the red thingie stopped working. I have read all the forum issues, uninstalled the drivers and re-installed new ones (first through the lenovo sulotion centre, then the synaptics generic version). About 6 times now. That didn't work. It says "component not present, not working correctly or divers not fully installed, error 24" (translation from Dutch, probably used some incorrect terms).Running windows 10 on this t420. All worked fine untill this happened. I saw that some new mouse drivers have been installed around the day of malfunction but can't find how or where to remove those (still getting used to this windows 10).Any suggestions?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T420 trackpad and touchpad right/left click stopped working

So far, there's just 2 of us with trackpoint / touchpad problems as a result of installing Windows 10.  My post:  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T420-Win-10-Pro-Ultra-Nav-19-00-12-61-Tr... I've combed through this forum and have no one else reporting these same issues; most are reporting that left and right click buttons are working, but the middle button did not work.  In my case, it was the opposite; the middle button scrolled (albeit very choppy), and the left / right buttons were dead.for my Trackpoint.  It's not a hardware issue, as all buttons function as normal in Win 7, but upon installation of Win 10, the buttons do not work.  I went so far as to do a clean install of Win 10 to ensure there were no conflicts between Win 10 and any leftover Win 7 system files, only to end up with the same old left and right button problems. So until the Ultra Nav drivers to enable full functionality of trackpoint / touchpad device, the only solution is to use a physical mouse or revert back to your prior operating system.

When scrolling with the index finger on my right hand I will regularly hover over and lightly touch the left button with my left index finger in anticipation of the link/button/text box etc that I am about to click on. I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. Is this behavior isolated to me, or are other experiencing the same behavior? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good evening, Every now and then, after using the laptop for a while, or getting it from sleep mode, the touchpad simply quits working as it should. Clicking by simply tapping the pad stops working, and clicking by really pushing in the trackpad itself will only activate either right or left click. Sometimes it even quits working at all. After rebooting the device the issues will be over, which makes me think it is some sort of a software issue. Also every now and then, while working in my student room, my laptop loses its internet connection. While there are many Wi-Fi signals in my student room-complex, it can't detect any of them. Then, after waiting for some time and rebooting the device once or twice, the connection will get restored, and all the other signals are back as well. Both issues aren't very huge, yet very annoying when working on a paper or so. Especially since I bought the laptop a little longer then two months ago, assuming due to it's price and the ThinkPad?s reputation (being able to stop a bullet and yet still work) this is a huge disappointment Anyone who has a solution for me for either one of these problems? Thanks!

Answer:Lenovo W540 randomly loses Wifi connections and its trackpad/touchpad often doesn't work

I have also noticed some wifi problems on the W540. I have the Intel AC7260, and occassionally, it stops working - reporting a driver problem. When this happens, it is not working at all and cannot scan for available wifi networks - exactly like you report. However, if I do a quick uninstall and scan for hardware changes within device manager, normal operation is restored, without having to reboot repeatedly. After a while, it will stop working again - this is not too frequent, however. I assume it is a dirver problem.

My touchpad started to act weird. On tap it acts like right button click, on left button click it acts as right button click and right button doesn't respond at all. In synaptics driver setup is everything set to default (so left button is default left button, right button is set as right button, etc.)

Is there a driver version that should work for sure? I tried the Toshiba suggested driver from support page and also a version where Windows XP recognized driver update. I also tried default PS2 driver that didn't work at all...

The netbook has only few days...what in the hell happened?

Thanks for any help :-(

Answer:NB100-12M - Touchpad weird behaviour

Try updating the BIOS. If that doesn't help, then the touchpad cable may be loose or the touchpad may be faulty.

Have you installed a 3rd party mouse or keyboard driver? Try removing that.

Does it happen in DOS as well? Boot from a DOS Boot disk and run a program that loads and uses a DOS Mouse Driver. I believe Hitachi DFT loads a driver. Google is your friend.

I assume the system is under warranty, so if you think its a hardware problem, send it to an ASP for repair.

Hello, I have a weird issue with my touchpad on Windows 10. On startup, the scrolling with the touchpad partially works, I mean, half of the time it scrolls properly, the other half it will zoom/unzoom or put the mouse pointer at a random place on the screen. I partially found a solution to this problem : as soon as Windows has finished to start, I close my laptop to put it in sleep mode, and after that, the scrolling works perfectly again, but everytime I reboot I have to do that so it becomes a little bit boring... Note that on a previous installation of Windows 10 on this computer (which was my second installation), I had the same issue, but the next day, an update has fixed it (or at least I think it was the update, I rebooted as the update asked me and the problem was gone so I don't know if it was the update, the reboot, or the magic...). And on my first installation, still on this computer, I never had this problem... So is this problem known here ? I've read so many thing things about touchpad issues, but that was always about touchpad not working at all, in my case, it works almost perfectly, just the scrolling will not perfectly works until I put the computer in sleep mode...

Answer:Weird touchpad issue (scrolling)

Update : When I created this thread I was on a triple boot Mac OS X Yosemite / Windows 10 / Linux Mint 17.3. After a few months, I had a problem with Linux that forced me to reinstall all my operating systems, and as I had a problem with the instalation of OS X, I skipped it and only reinstalled Windows and Linux. From this moment, the problem was gone. But yesterday, I took the time to reinstall OS X (and Windows and Linux because the HDD has to be empty to install OS X so I had to erase everything), then I reinstalled Windows and the problem was back. So I guess the problem is related to OS X, I don't see how and why but that's my only explanation... And I still haven't been able to really solve it so if you have any idea...

Hi All, Just got my X1 Carbon (5th Gen) a week ago.  I am experiencing a weird behaviour with two-finger scrolling on the touchpad. When I got it with default software setup, about 1 in every 5-6 times when I tried to scroll using two-fingers, instead of scrolling it would just move the mouse pointer. After a few days, I re-installed Windows using Microsoft's ISO and all of the latest drivers from Lenovo's website.  Now, with about same frequency, two-finger scrolling doesnt work at all.  That is neither the page scrolls or the pointer moves. Scrolling works when I retry. I am wondering if this is might be a driver related issue or if I have a hardware issue again? Anybody else having a similar problem?

Do you have wet fingers? Sounds stuipid, I know, but this technology (touchpad) uses the resistance of the finger to recognize the movement of your finger. If you have sweaty fingers or your feet are not on the ground (or you wear plastic soles) sometimes this technology won't work properly.

It might be ofcourse anything else as well, but you might want to check the above.

Good luck

Hey everyone, Hope you're all doing well! I have been encountering this weirdly annoying issue with the Yoga 910 touchpad. Every once in a while, the touchpad seems to stop responding to taps, only if I click it down physically, will the left click register. Otherwise, tapping just presses it down and gets it stuck. Restarting or logging out fixes the issue. I just wanna know if there is any way to at least reset the mouse driver w/o turning off the laptop.. Very annoying issue and completely weird to be honest.. Hope someone can offer some help!! Thanks in advance!!

I am experiencing an annoying problem - my trackpad stopped working. I have narrowed it down to a driver issue. Because if i uninstall the "Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav"-driver the trackpad starts working. As soon I install it again it stops. I have tried rebooting and it's no difference. When the driver is installed I cannot even the "Mouse" dialog in control panel.  I have tried the latest drivers: 18.0.7.40 as well as the previous driver. Same result. I have downloaded the drivers through the website as well as with Lenovo support app.  My model is the new X1 Carbon, model: 20A7005UM5 not even 2 weeks old. It worked until yesterday. The only thing done since is the regular update by Windows 8.1. I even tried a system restore before the updates but now there is no difference.  I want to point out that, when driver is uninstalled, the trackpad works, but without all the functionality. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Regards,Jan

hello,

so i have the Lenovo ideapad 320. I have had it for 5 days now. This morning zhen i woke up my touchpad mouse was disabled so i had to enable it again. After enabling it i realised that i can't scroll or zoom in/out anymore with my touchpad. So i downloaded a Recommended ELan on the lenovo site that was listed with the ideapad. After downloading it i realised it wasn't for an ideapad but for a notebook. I quickly deleted this but now my mouse (touchpad) is acting weird and i still can scrool/zoom.

Thanks

Several combination keys are not working ex. crtl+v, shift+v, etc. Touchpad right key only works when the left key is pressed in combination. What should I do?

Okay, let me step this out:
Compaq Evo N1020v
Mandrake Linux 10.1
Firefox 1.5.0.1
Konquerer 3.2.3
KDE 3.2.3
Touchpad, can't find make on it.

Here is what it is doing:
Firefox: Sliding the pointer from right to left with the touch pad (which is the only option, no external mouse) causes the browser to go to the previous page. So if I scroll down a page and then slide the pointer out to click on something, I end up one or two pages back. I think this is because of the mouse shortcut in firefox where shift+scroll down is supposed to do this, but I'm not holding the shift key down.

Konquerer: Sliding the pointer causes the window to scroll around depending on what scroll bars are available, but it at least makes sense... up and down scrolls up and down, left and right - left and right.

I'm thinking this is a malfunction with the touchpad because I cannot find a setting that controls this. Perhaps if I could shut off the mouse shortcuts in firefox, that browser would be usable.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Answer:Linux + touchpad = weird browser effects

Sounds like your touchpad is configured to have horizontal scroll "wheel". You probably need to edit X server settings and/or install Synaptics Touchpad driver.

Type man synaptics in command prompt to see more information about the settings.

I had a problem with choosing the right category for my topic, because I don't really know whether is something wrong with my touchpad or is the driver broken or maybe something else entirely. Let me start by saying, that I updated the driver for my touchpad using the newest one from Synaptics (old one on the support page for my laptop). I didn't really notice when it started happening, but now, it is really annoying. The thing is, when I scroll something, weird things happen, e.g. when I scroll a page in Opera, menu bar and top of the window changes to transparent and it simply falls apart; when I scroll a document in Notepad++, it doesn't recognize changes in files and I cannot save them; even when I "practice" scrolling in "Device properties", I get an error "an invalid argument was encountered". Seems, that bad value is sent when I scroll, but I didn't find anything solid about that. Did anyone of You ever came across something similar?

EDIT: What is more, problem doesn't occur when I scroll with USB mouse.

Hi kiziu, welcome to 7F

This link may offer some insight:
Firefox 4 touchpad scrolling iissues
It references to a problem with the registry settings with the Synaptic driver, but unfortunately does not explain in detail how the values need modified.

Do you have other browsers that you can check to see if it happens in them?

My brand-new P50 laptop was behaving as though the left trackpad button was sticking. When single-tapping the left trackpad button, it would behave as though the "click n' drag" setting was enabled: the trackpad would override the keyboard, preventing me from typing until either the trackpad was moved again or the button was clicked again.  I work for Microsoft and have always used Lenovo products without ever having encountered an issue before, so I was more than a little surprised. I called Lenovo support, and they were less than helpful. In the end, they suggested that the trackpad itself was defective. The laptop was orvernighted to the repair depot in the southeast. Naturally, there was a three-week wait for parts - despite this being a model currently in production. Finally, after causing a stink (this is, after all, my primary work machine), a helpful support tech located parts at another facility. Another week later, and my laptop was back - with the SAME problem continuing to surface. This time I dug deeper, looking into the various trackpad settings, tweaking the various "accidental interrupt" delay settings, verifying that the "click to drag" feature was disabled, and running various diagnostics on the trackpad itself. The one interesting thing I noted was that the button-stickiness only seemed to happen in applications (IE, Word, etc.) - the button "stickiness" didn't happen when scrolling through Windows... Hi Guys,  I have strange problem with touchpad on my Ideapad Y580. I've bought my y580 about one month ago and since beginning it goes like this:1. I had to install system (Win8) and drivers (downloaded from lenovo support site)2. Everything works fine until I turn off laptop (sleep, hibernate, whatever).3. When I turn on the laptop, touchpad is either not working at all (in device manager I can see code 24) or it works for a 2-3 minutes and then stops working (no error codes in Device manager). 4. If I uninstall all touchpad drivers and restart laptop there are two kinds of situations:a) Windows recognizes touchpad as PS/2 mouse and it is working fine until .... go to 2)b) Windows recognizes touchpad as PS/2 mouse but it is not working (again code 24). In this situation I can uninstall this 'ps/2 mouse' and restart. Now we can go to 4a. I've tried to look for solution over interenet (lenovo forum, win8 forum). There are some solutions for some issues with the synaptics touchpad but none of them works in my case. I have the latest BIOS, I've tried drivers for lenovo site as well as for synaptics site. Installing/uninstalling lenovo energy management. I've tried working with or without battery. I've tried dissabling some gestures in touchpad options. The problem still exists.   Does anyone have simillar problems?

Since upgrading to widnows 10 I have some strange problem with touchpad, but what I saw it do today made me ask for help with that. The first problem is that some programs are sometimes way too sensitive to touchpad scrolling (I use two-finger scrolling). An example of such program is windows regedit and cmd.exe. Sometimes it's tolarable but somtimes even a half centimeter finger movement causes it to go from the beginning to the end of the registry entries on the left side. And it also happens with some other programs. But only some of them. For example google chrome works fine. Skkype also works fine (most of the time, sometimes it goes crazy with that) But today I noticed something else: For some programs (and they are not always the same programs as in problem #1) the faster I try to scroll the slower it actually goes. Again, for chromium browser it works fine. But for skype, regedit (but not cmd.exe, or maybe 10000 lines is just not enough to notice the effect with so fast scrolling?) and probably a few other programs it does that. What may be wrong and how to fix it? Update: There is also another problem, touchpad scrolling doesn't work at all for some programs.

I did a few scans and Im really not finding anything so I'm asking for help.

I am completely perplexed with this.

Ok so I have the installation file for Alcohol 120% v1965529 on a DVD, so when I try copy pasting it to my E:\ drive I get an Access Denied - Make sure the file is not in use or write protected error.

However, I can copy it with no problem to my C:\ drive. Once I do that, if I try to run the installation, I get the "Windows cannot find the specified path, device or file. Make sure you have the appropriate permissions to access the item." error.

Trying to copy it from C:\ to E:\ gives me the access denied error again, and I've already removed all atributes, like read-only. What the hell is going on here? I'm system administrator, and in the 4+ years I've been using WinXP, I have never seen this problem! The file isn't corrupt, it works on other computers.

Right clicking on it, the context menu takes a good 6 seconds to show up.

This has been a problem for a while but I'm just getting around to checking it out. When I use the touchpad left mouse button and the touchpad to scroll and select, I often (not always) can't get it to stop selecting. I get to the end of what I want and let go of the left mouse button and I can move my finger around and will select and unselect text as though I'm still on the left mouse button. If I tap once nothing happens. If I tap with 2 fingers it will just unselect everything. This is a little hard to explain so I put a little 30 second video on youtube. It doesn't happen when I use a regular mouse and I confess to not using the touchscreen much for selecting. The video is low resolution but I don't think that matters. I hope it helps make sense of the problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0Tg9rsTPgY&feature=youtu.be Thanks for you help.

Hello everyone,

i'm having a weird problem in my setup, it's not a real problem but it's very annoying.

i can't post a screenshot right now, but the situation is pretty simple:

i have a "login button" (see attached example) floating on the left of my third screen. It's the same exact button from the login screen.

The button can't be moved, it doesn't react to right-click but it does react to left click, showing the account control panel

If i try to change resolution (forcing a redraw of the screens) the button goes away, then it comes back in the same position after some time (minutes)

how can i get rid of it?
thanks

Hello, I'm having an issue with my trackpad.  It seems that no matter where I click on it, the click is treated as a right click.  In addition, I'm having trouble with the two-finger scrolling.  I know I touched the trackpad with wet hands earlier, but I dried it off.  I haven't run into this problem yet and it's my first Thinkpad, so I'm stuck.  Can anybody help?

Answer:Trackpad problem

Hi -

I see nothing in those logs to suggest an active malware issue as the cause. It might be that the trackpad itself needs maintenance, there may be a stuck key on the keyboard, or the drivers reinstalled. It would be best to ask for help in the Hardware section of the forum for assistance with that.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f108/

I do see that ComboFix was run on this machine. While you see it used here often, we don't want it run before an initial analysis can be performed, to help decide whether to deploy ComboFix or not, and have baseline data available should something go wrong.

As you've already run it, if there's a log at C:\ComboFix.txt I'd like to look at it.

Hey guys, I received my brand new B570 Ideapad today, and after 30 minute of fidgeting I realised a big problem. Basically, everytime i press a button, it be the letter 'a', '2', space, backspace or enter etc....  there is a 0.8 sec interval before the cursor can actually move again (trackpad doesn't work while a key is down but it should), or the other way around, if i was randomly moving the mouse cursor everywhere then i pressed a key, it would stop for 0.8 secs before moving again. Lets put it in a gaming example: I was playing Doom 3, W A S D keys are the movement keys, W and S being move forward and backwards; once you press on either forward or backwards the trackpad doesn't work, until you release W or S for 0.8 secs, same with A and D keys, so basically you have to walk like a crab in the game. Is this a known fault? Is this a valid reason for a return? Any feedback/help appreciated! P.S. My old laptop was a G series and it didn't have this problem so very curious!

I purchased a Lenovo E520 with an extended 2 year warranty. Upon arrival the trackpad did not work - which is a problem Lenovo is fully aware of. After 3 months of Lenovo support havin me try various fixes - it still does not work. Support said it was hardware, and becasue it was beyond 90 days i could not get a refund. Theyy also said it would take 3 to 5 weeks for the repair and that was gauranteed. I cannot afford to be without a computer for that long - so I disconnected the trackpad and used a mouse for the past 1 1/2 years. Now the "g" key keeps malfunctioning. I found out that this is also a known problem. Lenovo Support - please contact me to resolve this situation.

1st of all, trackpad in general is pretty weak. Tiny  and hard-to-press physical buttons and 2-finger scrolling is really finicky, wil only work if both fingers are pretty much perfectly aligned together. I can deal with that but I cannot deal with not havng the 2-finger tap function working as either a right click or middle click (the latter was the way it was configured on my old laptop) which is absolutley essential in my view. In all the settings menu's i've been able to get to I have not seen an option to enabe this feature, i'm not even sure if this model of trackpad has this capability (which would be incredibly pahetic and grounds for returning the computer). The trackpad model is Elan Smart-Pad with the following driver installed: ETDWare PS2/2-x64 11.4.31.1_WHQL  I'm a first time use of these forums so i'm not really sure how things work around here so I apologize for any breaches of protocol . Thank you in advance to anybody wh takes time out of their day to help me.

Answer:Got a problem with the trackpad on a brand new Z50-70

I've been trying to figure out how to enable middle-click and right -click functions on the touchpad. Its a Elantech Smart-Pad and I've already updated the drivers, taken from the lenovo support site. I've gone to every settings menu I can think of and have not found an option for enabling the above features with either a 2 or 3 finger tap. Ideally I would love to have 2 finger tap as right-click and 3 finger tap as middle click. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions as to how ho make this happen I would be very grateful, not having this feature really limits the functionality of this otherwise awesome computer.

I have an ASUS ux32a that I bought used. The trackpad driver originally on it did not have tap-to-click. Asus told me to download a more recent driver, which gave me that functionality, but the sensitivity is now so great that if my palm is anywhere near it, the cursor jumps everywhere, making the machine impossible to use. From reading other posts, other have had this problem and for some reason, Asus disables the normal synaptics settings, such as sensitivity and palm touch (the ones you get under mouse/device/settings. Someone posted a registry fix to make those settings show up, but that particular set of keys doesn’t exist in my registry.
http://alonsrants.blogspot.com/2012/01/asus-zenbook-touchpad-hack.html
I went to synaptics but their driver installer just automatically installed the same as before, or at least one that behaves the same (I guess based on my model). Is there a way I can get a generic driver that won’t have these options or an aftermarket software that will sit between the driver and me and allow me to set sensitivity? (Asus refuses to help me enable the features it disabled.) Thank you very much.

Answer:Need help with trackpad sensitivity problem.

Does Asus' software allow you to adjust sensitivity?

Or do it just disable the Window's settings for your mouse?

I recently (as in, yesterday) bought myself a Yoga 710-14IKB. Straight out of the box, I found that the trackpad didn't work as it should. The side of my thumb, i.e. the way I would naturally click, simply won't work with attempting to left-click except on the rare occassion. Attached is an image to give you the idea--I'm not certain I described it well enough.I returned the first one, thinking it might be a hardware problem when updating and deleting the driver did nothing to help, but the replacement does the same thing. It seems like uninstalling Synaptics does show that it's not a hardware problem, but obviously leaves you with a sluggish cursor and no scrolling. It runs on Windows 10 and uses Synaptics Pointing Device v. 19.0.17.116, I'm assuming it's an issue with either Windows 10 or the latest Synaptics driver, but rolling back did nothing. Is anyone else having this issue? Any remedies out there? I can adjust to clicking differently, but I'd prefer not to. I'm very set in my ways, you know.

So I've been having this issue with the trackpad on my Inspiron 13 where it has a really hard time telling the difference between right click and left click.  Like I try to right-click on something but it ends up left-clicking so I have to do it again to get it to work.
I also have an issue where I try to regular (left) click on something but it ends up moving the mouse instead.
Is there a way I can get a regular trackpad swapped in?  This integrated one is a real pain.
Thanks!

Acer 5733Z, bought new 6 weeks ago. The 'right click' button on the track pad hasn't worked since Day One (should have returned it then). To work around that, I set the lower right zone to right click on a double tap.

A week ago the track pad quit working. A reboot brought it back. Next reboot, nothing. I'm using a USB mouse. I called Acer phone support and she instructed me to perform a system recovery, which took a couple hours and did no good. A second call to Acer yielded the same results....none.

Under control panel>hardware and sound>device manager>mice the trackpad doesn't even show up, only the external USB mouse.

If the trackpad is no good, then I'm not too upset about just buying one and installing it, I just want to make sure it's not a driver issue.

And how horrible is it to swap out trackpads?

Thanks.

Answer:Acer laptop trackpad problem

Hi
RMA it back to who ever you bought it from, as it is only six weeks old they are obliged to either fix the issue/replace with like for like or of same value or a full refund, this will not be a driver issue this is a hardware failure issue and if you decide to go ahead and try to replace the touchpad, you will void any warranty cover that you have on the laptop, plus it is a very difficult process and unless you have very good knowlege of the workings and dismantling of laptops it is not advisable to do so!!!
I hope this clarifies things for you

Hello Jeea84 and welcome to Lenovo community,

I can understand your issue very well as how much the work gets disturb due to this problem.

You need to install Synaptics UltraNav driver to resolve this issue.

I hope your issue gets resolved after this and then you can work without any problem.

I first purchased my U400 over the phone with Lenovo in May of last year. When I recieved it, there was a hairline separation in the top and bottom cover, along with an ever so slight indentation. I called support, and the person on the line told me that I would have to send it back if I wanted it repaired, but if I had no problems, and I need the computer, I could hold on to it until it becomes a problem. Later on I upgraded to Windows 8, which was a nightmare because of driver issues (which at the time Lenovo stated it was fine to upgrade). The graphics driver wouldn't work, and I had to downgrade. Shortly after the downgrade I had problems with my battery, in which there would be a popup that said "your battery has reached 40% of it's original capacity" only 4 months into owning it. I called Lenovo, and we reimaged the computer again, to no avail.  They said I would have to send it in when I could. I waited a month to send it in, when I opened my computer one day to find that the trackpad was unresponsive. At this point I called lenovo and set up a return to warranty. After about a week without the computer, I recieved an email stating that all my problems are caused by a hairline separation in the top cover and the bottom cover, and a it's not covered under the warranty. This problem is Lenovo's problem, I recieved the computer like that, and was told I could send it back when I had time. Now they are holding my laptop ransom for the 187 dollars, that I... Read more

Answer:U400 Trackpad Problem -- Warranty

apolyk, sorry to know what happened but i think you kept the laptop way too long you should have returned the laptop with-in the first 3 weeks that way you would have received either refund upon your demand or replacement, in my opinion 7 months is a lot of time. How much did you pay to buy the laptop if its possible you can ask lenovo to replace your model and you might pay 187-250 something to get another model.

I have the 2016 XPS 13 (9350).
Occasionally single tapping on the trackpad no longer works. Instead it assumes a click and hold action - when you move the mouse it'll highlight things you go past or when you tap on a file it will drag on it. The only way to work around this is to physically click the trackpad everytime. Restarting fixes the problem but it still reoccurs every once and a while.
Also when I go to settings --> about --> it says XPS  8700. The laptop has intel i5-6200U CPU @ 2.3 GHz 2.4 GHz so it's the 9350 right?
I've also been getting around 6.5-7.5 on moderate usage - YouTube, facebook most often. Is this normal?
Any solutions?

Hi all, I have a t420, less than a year of use.  Everything was working fine.  Suddenly, I was unable to use the trackpad and the trackball correctly.  It's like the central button to be pressed all the time.  Of course, physically that's not the case.  When that happens, all the other buttons are barely responsive.  I think it's not a driver issue because I have the same problem while I'm using my laptop in Windows and Linux.  I had to disable the track point in order to work.  If I enable it again, the problem arises instantly. Is it possible that my problem to be a hardware issue?  I can't understand why it's happening this.  I take care extremely well about my laptop.

New x120e user and very pleased with it apart from the mouse/trackpad. Main problem for me is that the left (normal) click of the trackpad/mouse seems to 'stick' if held for more than just a quick click. Example; I click the down scroll bar arrow on the browser for more than a click. The function sticks on and the page scrolls down and down and down until I click it again. Another example - I use left click to highlight a sentance of text. But when I release the mouse/trackpad button at the end of the highlight the effect is though it is still clicked down. The highlighting moves as I move the cursor. So again, I have to make a second click to complete the highlighting procedure. Sorry if this is not clear, it is a little wordy to explain. I get this effect with the trackpad and two different mice. Anyone got any ideas for a fix?All ideas welcomed. Cheers, Nick

Answer:x120e mouse/trackpad problem

Was able to solve the problem by turning off the 'Clicklock' setting in mouse control of Windows.
