Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN not getting above 54.0MBPS

Question: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN not getting above 54.0MBPS

I know the problem is not with my router because my other non-Lenovo computers with Wireless N cards are getting signals much above 54.0MBPS. Is there something I have to enable or do you guys have any ideas? I have all the latest drivers installed.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN not getting above 54.0MBPS

Your router must be 802.11n Draft 2 compliant and have dual band support (2.4GHz and 5GHz) to achive 802.11n speed with a fully Draft 2 compliant WiFi card like the Intel 4965AGN. Cheers, Bill

I am trying to connect to a secured wireless network that uses wpa, AES, mschap2 and authenticates based on the Windows logon.  I don't have the option for this combination in Access Connections.  I uninstalled AC and tried using windows and I get an error message "An unexpected error has occurred" when I select AES and click next.  I've installed the latest drivers both from Lenovo and Intel and nothing helps.  I have no problems with other machines, just this X300.  Any help would be appreciated.  This is my personal machine and I NEED wireless connectivity.

Greetings,
After installing Win7 Prof x64 everything with WiFi was working correctly. Yesterday I wanted to try Vista x64 driver with Connection Utility. In the device manager it shows that device is working corectly but in fact it is not working at all. Uninstalling connection utility didn't help and windows cannot find any driver at the HDD or in windows update.

Any idea what could be done to fix it?

Type: 7764-CTO S/N: L3-xxxxx OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Driver version: 13.1.1.1 In a nutshell, my WiFi has stopped working overnight; that is, it had been working flawlessly for more than a year, and one day when I woke up it decided to quit. Here's what happens when I turn the radio on now: it will scan for APs as usual, but only report a fraction of the list as it used to - it may not report even the preferred APs, which it had no problems connecting to before - and never make a connection. On some rare occasions, it might be successful at making a connection, but the connection would be reported as limited (i.e. no Internet access) and it would not stay connected for more than a few seconds. 90% of the time the 802.11 radio would try connecting, fail, and power off. Here's what I have tried: I have tried updating to the latest driver, as well as reverting back to the Windows 7 bundled driver. I have tried making connections to several working networks (e.g. friend's home, office, cafes, etc) to rule out my router being the source of the problem. I have also tried running the Ubuntu LiveCD to see if it would work under a different OS. Obviously, nothing has worked. For those who are curious, ethernet connection is working fine. I'm leaning toward it being a hardware failure. Does anyone have other thoughts and perhaps even a solution?

Greetings all! I have a Lenovo X61s that I purchased, and I have decided to upgrade the wireless card in it so that I can use the 802.11n that I have at home. When I installed the new adapter in the Mini-PCIe slot and restarted the device I got an error message saying the the card was not supported and had to be removed.  Per the X61 matrix (http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/X61_X61s_USEN_02.pdf) the 4965AGN is supported.  Has anyone else seen this? Regards,TC Labby

Answer:X61s will not accept Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

The BIOS has a whitelist of supported wireless cards. You need a Lenovo branded 4965agn card or else the BIOS will not allow you to boot the computer until you remove the card. The Intel 4965agn wireless card you are looking for is the FRU 42T0865.

Hi Folks,This is my first post and I hope someone can help me.I recently bought a T61 with the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN card running on XP.The problem I am having is that I can not stay connected to my wireless network. When I turn on the laptop automatic connection is spotty at best. Once I do get connected, as soon as I open a browser (Firefox or IE) the connection drops and my router freezes. I know the problem is not with the router because it works smoothly with my business Dell Latitude D620 or a very old Thinkpad A31p.I've tried everything I can to rectify the problem (drivers, settings etc.). It's not easy downloading drivers to a flash drive on my wife's desktop and copying it to my laptop. From my research on the internet, it seems a lot of people are having the same issue. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Wireless Connection Problems with a Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

HiI have the exact same problem.  I have read about many others with the same issue.   I wish I had an answer for you.  There are a couple of things going on.  The Lenovo power management wants to turn the wireless off at a whim.   Authentication seems to fail for me with WEP turned on (works with other laptops using the same WRT54G).   I am running a T61 with Windoze XP.  Our work Wireless AP (WAP) has WEP enabled.   Wireless will work on the T61 at home with no WEP but not at work.    I am thinking about installing linux (running network manager) on the T61 becuase I know it will probably work.  I think the troubles are with the Lenovo wireless configuration utility. I am surprised that Lenovo has not fixed such a big problem.   It doesn't reflect a quality product.

I have a "Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN" card installed in my new T61p. Can this card be used in 802.11n mode? The reason I'm asking is because although it seems to have some "advanced" options for "N", it only operates in 802.11g mode at best. My card doesn't connect when I set my wireless router to transmit in 802.11n mode only. Please advise. Thanks. Gary Grathen

i just replaced an old belkin g router with a d-link dir-825 extreme n dual-band router...i managed to get the desktop connected to the internet using a d-link dwa-552 pci adapter (after updating using the atheros version driver, the included software manager/driver on the cd was a pain-in-the-a$$)...

the macbook pro also connects to the router and the internet...as does the wii and the ps3...using WPA2 security...

the vaio laptop, with vista business 32-bit and an intel wifi 4965agn adapter will not connect to either the router (192.168.0.1) or the internet in a browser window...

i updated the driver to the latest version...

the wireless network shows up, but when i try to connect it says "local access only"...in the vista diagnostic window it says "can't connect to primary dns server" (192.168.0.1)

i set up the router with this same laptop using a wired connection and the d-link set-up wizard, and i got an internet connection then...it just won't connect wirelessly...

of course i reset the router and the cable modem (time warner/roadrunner)...

is it an ip address problem? if so, how do i solve it?

thanks for any ideas...

Question: WiFi Link 4965AGN

I have Computer w/ 3 operating systems on it, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows 7 RC, and Windows XP Professional. Windows Vista was the original operating system but I downgraded due to software conflicts at the time. I hardly use Vista anymore because its too slow on my laptop, I use Windows XP and Windows 7RC.... ANYHOW....

I have a 7.1 mbps internet connection that I connect through over wireless G. My network card is the Intel? Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. I have a Linksys WRT54gs2 router with secured WI-FI & mac address. When I connect to the internet using Windows XP OS, I download no faster than 80KB/s on rapidshare, or 150kb/s on the Microsoft server. When I use Windows 7 or Windows Vista, I download at 800kb/s on the same wifi connection. Therefore my questions is: WHY DO I DOWNLOAD SLOWER ON XP? I have my wireless card driver updated on all operated systems.

Answer:Malfunctioning wireless network adapter (Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG)

I have similar experience too, but malfunction only happens when I am trying to connect to my school network which is WPA2-enterprise or WPA-enterprise. My wireless seems to work fine at home with WPA-personal. All other laptops work fine (so it is my laptop). The signal is fine because it register 100% strength. Basically, mine works for a few minutes, then it starts malfunctioning (school network only). During malfunction, it cannot detect any wireless network (even those that aren't WPA-enterprise). When it can detect wireless network again, it may or may not be able to reconnect to the school network.

I am new here. I'm not even sure if this question is in the correct forum (I hope so). I have a Toshiba Satellite A305 laptop that I purchased a few months ago. In the last month, the wireless connection has been dropping like mad ! And more recently, when it drops, it says it can't find any wireless networks. I then have to perform a hard shut off (by holding the power button till it powers down) and wait a few minutes to turn it back on. I have uninstalled the wireless adapter and then reinstalled it and that didn't work either. Also, all the drivers are up to date. I am very frustrated at this point and don't know what to do. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks !!

Answer:Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 problem

It is always a VERY good idea to check the microfilters (if using ADSL) which are fitted into your phone sockets and make certain that you have microfilters in any socket in the house. Microfilters are very cheap to get hold of and its worth having a few spare.

Hi everyone!

I've recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate onto my Toshiba Satellite U400 laptop. For the most part I was online with a wired connection, and when I finally went to wireless, I started getting BSODs.

This SAME behaviour happened to me when I had Vista Home Premium SP2 installed before hand. I tried Ubuntu linux for a while and the wifi worked fine! (so maybe not a hardware issue? but a driver issue?)

I can make the BSOD repeatedly when flipping through picture albums on facebook for example. I have attached the debugging files in the hopes that someone with more technical knowledge can help me. I look forward to solving this problem once and for all...it is very frustrating

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows 7 Ultimate BSOD when on Wifi (Intel 4965agn)

Hi -

I am finding 2 basic bugchecks in the dumps submitted -

0x9f - a driver is in an inconsistent power state
0x19 - bad pool header - the pool was already corrupted when the caller arrived

Ironically, both Intel wifi and your Ethernet drivers were named as the probable causes; I believe the Toshiba driver and webcam driver may be the real culprit(s) here -

Code:
TVALZ_O.SYS Thu Nov 08 19:07:46 2007 (4733CF02) - Toshiba
UVCFTR_S.SYS Thu Jun 26 01:25:19 2008 (4863526F) - Webcam driver

yk62x86.sys Mon Feb 23 06:44:18 2009 (49A2B642) - Marvel Yukon Ethernet
netw5v32.sys Thu Mar 26 09:10:37 2009 (49CBA8FD) - Intel wifi 5100/4965/39xx

The Marvel Yukon & Intel wifi drivers look fine to me. I suggest that you go after the Toshiba driver 1st, then the webcam driver -- check Toshiba for updates. If none, you'll have to disable the services related to them/ un-install the devices. The 1st w/ 2007 timestamp has caused problems in Vista and would most certainly do the same in Windows 7.

I have a Gateway FX series 17" laptop and yesterday when I got home from university and took the computer out of my bag to start working, the wireless card just didnt exist, no networks were recognized and when i tried to troubleshoot it told me that no device was connected. Wired internet works just fine. And the wireless card appears in the device manager.

methods i have tried to no avail:
-turning the wireless switch on and off
-uninstalling the device and rebooting
-updating drivers
-manually downloading driver from Intel's website
-insulting the device's mother

I'm suspecting this might be a hardware issue but if anyone has some advice that would be great. For the time being I am just using a wired connection but I'm going to need the wireless when I'm. back in class

This has been a problem since day one of purchase and I am about to toss this computer in the trash!  Lost many days of production and probably some vital business because of this.  I have performed yet another complete rescue and recovery clean install and performed all windows vista updates as well as lenovo updates.  Every time the computer is moved just a little bit the wireless drops.  If you unplug the power cord the wireless drops.  Even changing power settings under device manager it still drops. I have tried to find the information to reseat the adapter but have come up empty.  With the thousands of posts and blogs all over the internet I would think Lenovo would have fixed this problem.  I am in the process of buying another laptop because this one is very unreliable and I have lost valuable time, business and potential customers because of the down time. I wondered if anyone has swapped wireless adapters with any luck?  If anyone has the schematic to remove/replace/reseat the adapter or a link for that information I would be grateful!  You purchase top end for business with anticipation of few problems.  My old IBM 386 & 486 are still working with no problems!  HELP BEFORE THE SLEDGE HAMMER FALLS! Thanksgrgsr

I have an hp pavilion dv6 1355dx win 7 64bit intel core 2 duo. The wifi was working fine with my remembered connections and connected automatically within range. Then it started saying limited connection and would not let me browse the internet. After trouble shooting it said "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter" So I uninstalled reinstalled Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN it was listed under network adapter so I'm assuming that means it is the adapter but I was told it is the driver. Still confused on that. A friend suggested that I delete my remembered connections now it just says no connections available.

Under network adapter properties even tried changing the channel width for band 2.4 thats Value was set 20 MHz only to Auto, as I was instructed by my college IT guy. I've searched for the drivers installed the one on the hp support site. According to my model i have Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter, in the devices supported list nothing that I thought was the adapter or driver was listed. Downloaded the file they said contains the driver for that adapter...didn't seem to do anything other than install. Tried rebooting still nothing. Anyone have any ideas or is it just a lost cause?

Thanks

Allison

Answer:Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN wireless internet won't work

You could try backing up your data and re-loading your system from your backup software or from a restore point from before the start of your problem? That way the network adaptor will have a working driver installed.

did you download the Lenovo driver, or did you down load the driver from Intel? Lenovo writes alot of their own drivers for things like wifi cards, its possible that by downloading Intel's driver, it isn't compatable with thinkpads.

2 iPads & an iPhone stay connected unless, the signal disappears, in the same room. Signals are described as excellent or good.

The Vostro when I bring it in, after using at home, connects automatically. Twice has reached the stage when all 3 links I can see with a decent signal, can't connect, sometimes get asked for the password, run trouble shooter multiple times with no success. First time internet connection worked for 2 days, 2nd time for an hour, then couldn't log on to any link.

I'm puzzled why the Vostro doesn't hold the connection and the IOS devices do.

Public holiday over in a couple of days and I plan to catch the lady chief of the hospital and the IT manager.

I would be most grateful for queries, comments or, references to help in these encounters.

Thank you and regards

Hi, I have an X61 with Vista Business 32bits and the Wireless card (Intel Wifi 4965AGN) does not work anymore. Here is the chronology of events: - A few days ago I realized that the Fn+F5 hot key was not working.- I tried to solve this problem by uninstalling the Intel wifi driver and reinstalling.- Uninstall was OK. When I restarted the computer, the system automatically detected the Wifi card as new hardware and tried to install the driver, but I got an error message "Unable to open the driver specific registry key for this device".- I have tried to uninstall and install the driver several times but I have been unable to fix the problem.- I have downloaded the latest driver from the Intel and Lenovo websites but the problem persists.- When I access the device manager there is an exclamation point on the Wifi4965AGN. If i try to update driver it returns a message saying thatthe driver is up to date.- I have tried to recover the system from the last backup point but when the system restarts it says that there was an undetermined error in the recovery and that it didn't happen. It seems like there is something wrong in my Windows registry but I don't know enough to solve it. It doesn't seem like a big problem because I actually created it by trying to fix the Fn+F5 problem so I should be able to solve it! Any ideas before I reinstall Windows?

Answer:X61 Vista32: Cannot install driver for Intel Wifi 4965AGN (unable to open registry key)

You may want to check the following again just to be sure everything was done 1) Make sure the correct driver for Intel Wifi 4965 AGN is installed (Do you have XP or Vista?)2) Use System Restore (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Systems Tools -> System Restore) to rollback your settings to an earlier calendar date prior to the  time the issue has occurred. Were you trying to restore using Microsoft's System Restore, or using the Rescue and Recovery tool? If this fails, you may need to reload Windows.Power off, then power on and tap F11 repeately to access Rescue and Recovery from our recovery partition.  Hope this helps, Mark

I have a laptop with an Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN nic

1) Shows up in Device manager as healthy
2) Has latest driver as per manufacturer (hp elitebook 6930p) running win2008R2 server.
3) keyboard wifi indicator lites up
4) Device shows up as active in networking devices

however, I cannot see any wireless ssid's to associate with.
I checked mfg web site for latest drivers and the intel web set for the adapter itself. After many downloads of win8 and win7 driver bundles (no support for win2008r2 apparently) I have not found a solution yielding a fix. I did stumble across a Intel proset/Wireless wifi software utility manual diagnostic tool v15.6.0.0. When it runs, i get:

"Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver"

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 15:57:12,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Hardware Test
- Result : Failed, Summary : Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver

With the same tool i can run it manually on just selecetd tests (hardware, driver, radio, scan, associate, auth, signal, ping)
All of them fail (as expected except the driver test:

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 16:00:07,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Driver Test
- Result : Passed, Summary : Driver is loaded. NETwNs64 Version :14.3.2.1

The driver test passes, just not the link to the transport apparently. Not sure how to fix this.

Hey guys, I've been a X61T(tablet) user for over 2 years now and have never had WiFi connection issues, whatsoever. I upgraded to Windows 7 last year and things only got better.  But, today, after uninstalling a program called "Connectify", that basically transforms your laptop into a WiFi hotspot, my Wireless Radio JUST WON'T SWITCH ON! My Wireless Radio switch(that's in front) is on(I pushed it to the right). Up until yesterday, it was working great. I even used my Wireless Network to create a WiFi hotspot using Coonectify. I also deleted it from Connectify because it wasn't working. And then, I just uninstalled Connectify because I didn't see a point in creating a hotspot, when I have a Wireless Router at home. I rebooted my PC and Viola --- WIRELESS RADIO HAS BEEN DEAD! I don't see the green LED for WiFi on the extreme left blinking anymore. Gone!  Went to Device Manager and I didn't see any problems with the Intel WiFi Link 4695 Device driver. I still uninstalled it and downloaded the most recent one. STILL NOT WORKING! I checked the registries to see if I can find any entries from Connectify that may be causing the problem, but Nada! Nothing there as well! I'm feeling pretty downbeat because I got a new Wireless Router yesterday NETGEAR N-150 and not even 24 hours later, I'm back to using ETHERNET cable! I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out here! Thanks.

X61 7675-CTOConfig: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, Windows XP Pro SP2/3 I had previously piggybacked this problem on a post dealing with the same problem with Vista. I decided to post for XP and make one clear post of problems and solutions attempted. Upon receipt of machine, June 25, 2008. wireless would not connect on startup as it did not get a valid IP address. This required using the wireless interface to disconnect and reconnect. Using "repair" would not always result in a connection. Subsequently connection would drop frequently. Sometimes could be reconnected, sometimes would need to be restarted. Called Lenovo 6/26/2008. Found and installed all updates related to wireless including hot key support (dependency for ThinkVantage), Access Connections, and Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965agn driver. Problems continued. Disabled Access Connections. Machine would then connect on startup but drops continued. Machine is unable to reconnect itself after drop. Removed Access Connections. Drops continued. Installed "Network Magic" which enabled file/printer sharing which was not working previously but had no effect on connection drops. Note that during this time and to present, 1) a Toshiba laptop on the same network maintained wireless connections with no problems, 2) an identical X61 with identical CTO configuration experiences same problems on a completely different network 12 miles away. Progression ... does your current machine use a abg card?? the 4965 AGN card needs 3 wires, while the abg card use 2 wires.  I will have a look at my machine for you tonight. But unless you have 3 wires i don't think the upgrade would work.

I have a T410 2522-AN4 running XP/Pro.I installed a number of updates on 10/29 which seem to have exposed me to a 'Windows Delayed Write Failed'error. I've rolled back 5 of the driver updates. I've turned off Write Caching. I've increased SystemPages to 24FFF.I've run all the diagnostics I can find. No luck. Now I'd like to rollback/uninstall/? some of these other updates thatwent in on 10/29. Two that I'm suspicious of are ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility US and Intel Wireless WiFi Link for Windows XP. Where would I go to find a way to rollback those two items? Thanks for any help!

Previous BIOS versions should be found on the T410 driver matrix if you scroll down on the BIOS page. I have had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Version 4 Wireless router for quite some time.  It works like a champ and I have one Laptop wired to it and a second using Wireless working just fine.  Recently, I received a new ThinkPad W500 Laptop with an Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN wireless network adapter.  The older laptop (ThinkPad T60p) that works just fine with the router uses a11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter by Atheros.  However, the NEW laptop (the W500) with the Intel Adapter fails to connect to the Router.  It will either indicate a failure while "Waiting for Association" or it will indicate a failure when waiting to "renew IP Address".  Sometimes, it will show a signal strength close to ZERO (Even as the older laptop with the other adapter is showing a signal strength close to 100%) When I called Linksys support, I was told that the facts that the Router (a) works find with the wired Laptop and (b) works fine with the 11a/b/g NEtwork Adapter and (c) works fine when WIRED to the new laptop all indicate that the problem is NOT with the router at all -- but with the Network Adapter.  Can anyone tell me what has to be adjusted in the Adapter settings?  Right now, I am using IBM Access Connections for BOTH of the wireless laptops.  I have made sure to set IDENTICAL values for SSID and WEP (128-bit) [static] password.  I have also ensured that all OTHER settings are the same for the two laptops.  Yet, in... I have an R61 ThinkPad with 4 gig RAM, Vista 64, T9300, and the Intel 4965AGN wireless network card. The 4965 can connect to the wireless network (WPA2-AES), browse the web, download files, etc. The problem is the network card dies when attempting to copy large files on the network. The status light blinks, and then about 30 seconds into the copy, the light goes solid and the connection is dead. No repair connection efforts succeed. The only cure is to reboot.I have tried the drivers at the Intel and Lenovo sites. Each has slightly different results, but all result in the 4965 becoming non-responsive. I have completely uninstalled drivers when switching between the different versions. I have tried driver only and driver/software installs with no success. There are 3 other wireless computers on the network that can copy without a problem. The router is an N router. The other computers have G connections. What is the problem? More important, what is the solution? Bad card? (I received the notebook recently, and this has never worked.)

kamiller42, welcome to the forum,

I don't have a Vista TP with me at the moment, so you might have to look around a little for the following settings.

It sounds as though this could be a power management problem. If you are using Access Connections you need to ensure that in each profile you have best network performance selected in Wireless Settings / Further Settings.
There are also power management settings in Network Devices and in Device Manager, (advanced properties of adapter), which you should change as well to ensure that Windows cannot reduce power to, or turn the adapter off.

Recently, I found my Intel 4965agn wireless lan adapter on my T61 laptop automatically disabled after I connected to the public wireless network (no password required) in my university. Sometimes it could work for 3-4 hours, but sometimes it could only survive for few minutes. When the adapter was disabled, I cannot start it in any way except restart my laptop. But this phenomenon never happened in my apartment, where the wireless network has a password requirement.Anybody has the same experience or any solution? Answer:[Problem] Intel Wireless Card 4965agn Disabled for NO reason

Same problem... I've had this issue and reported it many times with no results from Lenovo or IBM. My card is an intel 3945ABG, and the same issue - not  problem on some networks and a disaster at school (many access points and a WPA-Enterprise security). I have taken out access connections and tried the intel pro wireless software.. while it hasn't fixed the problem, it's better. About once a week my card just turns off - disables itself somehow. The light goes out, and it disables itself in the device mangler (red x) but I can't re-enable it, the device manager just crashes. If I flick the Wifi switch, nothing, click enable in the pro wireless software, nothing. I have unchecked the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" everything....  Someone from Lenovo, please give us an answer about this... I think this happens on most computers (all 4 thinkpads in my class have this issues), just rarely enough that no one complains. Is this a firmware issue? a irq issue? What do you need to solve this? whiteatom

heyas!

here's all my specs before i get into the issue:

OS: vista home premium, 32 bit
wireless card: intel 4965AGN
laptop: inspiron 1520
processor: intel core 2 duo CPU T7100 @ 1.60GHz
no recent crashes to cause the problem, and i haven't been using much anti-spyware other than mcafee security center.

allrighty then, i don't know if that's enough information about the hardware or not. here's my problem, as detailed as i can manage:

my wireless seems really inferior to other computers. i'm right now in about the middle of my campus, UT austin, and i get disconnected from the wireless intermittently. just sitting here i've been disconnected 4 or 5 times over the past 40 minutes or so. in my apartment, they have their own isp, namely Airimba wireless. lots of times i won't be able to get onto the wireless (connect to the router). i just spent 35 minutes talking to a dell support technician, and basically he had me delete all my saved network connections and reboot the computer. problem not solved. it has been suggested to me that perhaps this is a hardware problem; the dell technician basically said vista might be causing the flakiness. one of my huge freshman classes is in a theatre, and i see people around me surfing the web, but i can't get a connection. it happens in certain class rooms too, where others get a connection, but the gods don't favor me.

anyway, i can't imagine that this is a server-side problem. everybody would be complaining. so... Read more

Answer:wireless help; vista, intel 4965AGN card, inspiron 1520

Hi andrestable

If you are currently using any flavor of the "ACM" (Arimba Connection Manager) software, I'd recommend uninstalling it.

I'd also recommend uninstalling your current driver for your Intel wireless adapter, and then installing this Vista driver set directly from Dell. It's from mid-November of 2007, only nine weeks ago or so, and might help --- http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=233385 --- follow the setup instructions as prompted. (*Note that the initial installation instructions are on the same webpage as the download*).

Once you have that package installed, test your connections. Should you continue to have difficulty, there is a wireless patch specifically for your model, and specifically for your wireless adapter: --- http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=217662

I think that the 2nd patch has an excellent chance of helping significantly.

Remember, that when you are setting up your connections, you won't be choosing Ad Hoc, but Infrastructure. Your connections should also be enabled for Mixed modes, as the Arimba device is a 802.11b device, whereas other WiFi on campus is likely to be 802.11g. Your Intel adapter is able to do all four currently available 802.11 modes --- a/b/g/n.

To the networks that you most often connect to, you can set your laptop to automatically detect. Whether you connect using Vista's builtin Wireless utility, or use an Intel tool included in the driver download, you... Read more

I bought an Inspiron 1420 for 640$ shipped or so from Dell last month and now I've been using it at my school campus.

It has a Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini Card and the network says it's 300 Mbps connection here but at times when I'm using the internet, it would be slower than AOL!

I did a speakeasy speed test and got

20k kbps and upload 28 kbps

A few minutes later I did speakeasy test again and got about same but upload speed went to 4kbps.

Specs:
Inspiron 1420, Intel Core 2 Duo T8300(2.4GHz, 800Mhz, 3M L2 Cache)
NVIDIA (R) GeForce TM Go 8400M GS with 128MB dedicated graphic memory
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 14.1 inch display
4 GB Ram sticks Kingston bought at Frys (memtest 20 hours no errors)
Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini Card

Note: My lil bro is on a 4 yr old laptop and he got upload speed up to 7000kbps...
His download speed burst to 40000kbps and stayed there...
what is going on here?

Answer:Intel 4965AGN Wireless Card Slow? Inspiron 1420

Max speed the card supports != Speed of the wireless network your connected to.

Sounds like the campus network is the limiting factor, not your card. Heck, I would imagine that quite a few people (and maybe a handful of bandwidth hogs) are online at the same time.

And yes, I have the same network card in my laptop though I've only achieved ~130Mbps, which seems normal to me.

edit: Have you tried connecting to any other wireless networks besides your campus?

As many others, I found that my new out of the box T61 was unable to connect to wireless routers.  After some troubleshooting, I found the problem was the power management property for the wireless card was set to low. I have my laptop power settings set to maximum performance both on the battery and when plugged in. Still, every time I reboot or come out of standby, I find I can't connect to the internet and when I go to the device manager and check, I find that the Power Management property is set back to low for my Intel 4965AGN wireless card.  This happens with the "use default value" unchecked and also with it checked.  The transmit power property always stays on high though. So, yes, I can get the wireless working by manually changing this every time I start up or come out of standby, but how do I force the power management property to stay on a high setting and not keep resetting to low?  What other software has the power to keep resetting this value, and can I stop it? I am currently using the Thinkvantage Power Manager, but I have uninstalled the Access Connections software as I found it to be entirely too frustrating for my use.  (perhaps part of that early experienced frustration was due to this power management issue)  I manage my wireless networks using XP network connections.  I've had my laptop for about 4 days now.  I absolutely love it, but this and a few other hardware issues continue to plague... Hi Guys,
This is Viral. I am using an Acer laptop model ASPIRE 4736 since the last five years. There haven't been much issues with it. except for the battery and thats it. But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

I bought my Lenovo T500 last year in summer (2009). It came with a b/g wifi card and I want to upgrade it to Intel Wifi Link 5300 but it seems lenovo.com has stopped selling this card. I also heard that not all 5300 cards are compatible with Lenovo Thinkpads. Could anyone tell me if this card is compatible or not? If not, any suggestions?http://www.amazon.com/Intel-533ANMMWW-Wifi-Link-5300/dp/B001CXT6NQ/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1284... Thank You.

Hi and welcome to the forum! It will work but the card must be lenovo approved as far as I know, following will definitely work:- http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=t500+intel+5300&_sacat=See-All-Categor...Not so sure about the one you linked to though.Hope it helps.

Hi,

It is possible to replace the wifi card that brought the Satellite L100-108 (Intel 3945ABG) for the one Intel 4965AGN?
Both cards are mini pci-e and the chipset on the motherboard (with the Everest says only that it is Toshiba), is the Intel i945GM.

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite L100-108: Upgrade from Intel 3945 WLan to Intel 4965agn

Hi

Why you want to upgrade the WLan card?
I mean the Intel 3945ABG provide three different WLan standards.
OK, the Intel 4965AGN provides the 802.11 N standard but this standard cannot be used because the WLan card would need 3 wire wlan antenna?
As far as I know the L100-108 has been equipped with two wires Wlan antenna which is designed for A B and G WLan standard.

Hi there guys,it's my first post on this forum even although I should've asked here first. I have the same problem with the network wifi adapter as mentioned in the previous thread with this subject: it happens to disconnect and after that it doesn't appear in Device Manager for some time. Ussually I go there 'scan for hardware changes' and it appears back, but sometimes it doesn't come back for good and I need to restart my laptop. So..this is quite sad. I've read all the opinions about this and all solutions so far and nothing worked for me. I checked my driver on Intel and it says: Product DetectedIntel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGNCurrent Driver Installed14.3.2.1This device is unknown or unsupported. Please contact the manufacturer for possible updates. So I downloaded their newer driver which is 15.3 and still the driver version remains 14.3.  This is becoming quite annoying becouse it happens to disconnect right when I am downloading or writing an email.        Did someone from tech support found a solution for this? please! I would appreciate a lot. Thank you. p.s. I am running win8 pro.

Answer:About Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN

I suspect there are variants of the Intel 5300 card that will work in Lenovo systems, and other versions of the card that are designed for other systems (like HP, etc) and will not work in a Lenovo. It's possible that the 5300 card you have wasn't designed for Lenovo platforms, and as a result doesn't match up with the bios whitelist on your system. Did the system originally come with this card, or was the card installed sometime later? If installed later, was the card supposedly compatible with Lenovo systems (incl your model)? I picked up my new 5300 card from eBay sometime back... it was listed as compatible with my Lenovo T400 (incl a few other models), and once I installed it (and installed the driver, updated access connections, rebooted the system etc), it came right up at 450mbps when near the access-point. Finally, the 15.x (I'm assuming Lenovo) driver might not support this older 5300 card... my T400 is running a 14.x driver for Win7 64-bit which does support the 5300, but I noticed the 15.x driver for my system doesn't support the older 5300 (and states that in the release notes for this ver). That's all I can come up with for now... hope something here helps you out. And keep me posted... will check this thread from time to time. Mike

Hi everyon! Happy New Year. I received a new T400s at last week.OS is Windows 7 and my wireless LAN card is Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN. It doesen't works well.It happens to disconnect network 5 ~ 10 minutes interval. I have two another notebook. They have no problems. What is the problem? What do I do?

Answer:About Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN

I'm having the same problem with my T500 (same wireless adapter, Intel 5300 AGN) since upgrading from Vista Business to Win 7 Professional.  I had no problems with wireless connectivity under Vista.  From what I can tell, this seems to be a problem with the 5300 adapter running under Win 7 on the T400/500 platforms.  I've tried everything, and I haven't been able to find a resolution on this forum up to this point.  I believe this is a problem Lenovo owes its customers a solution for.

Howdy

I recently started an internship in Egypt about a week ago. When I first got here the wireless internet worked fine (albeit a bit slow) in my apartment and around the campus. However last thrusday the Wifi on my laptop quit working. I have a Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN that has Windows 7 RC on it right now. The adapter picks up the signal but when you try and connect it gives 'limited connectivity " = no internet. I tried using the Troubleshooter but when used it just says that The Diagonostic Policy service is not running and therefore it cannot fix the the problem. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem.

Thanks

try this either set a hard coded dns

or hard code the ip if you know what your network ip address numbers are
that your access point uses

so say some thing like
this is very very common here

IP: 192.168.1. 100-150
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY:192.168.1.1

and find a dsn server

dont use them numbers there just make sure that your using the right set for the network that your connecting too
i have the same card in my laptop and its a work horse and some

also is the network that your connecting too secure make sure you have your settings right

hello ebartolon...
it's still is but remember this is a free forum....
since airbot already gave you the lecture on the bumping threads im not going to go into that...
but what i can tell you to do in the throughput enhancement to turn it on...
also in wireless mode put it to 802.11n as i believe right now you are using 802.11g and not using the n spec...

also even in ideal situations you are not going to get the throughput specified in the n spec or advertised...
it says *up to* because that is the maximum speed that it will go and usually the hardware never reaches that speed....

Hi I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW11E Laptop with an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN.
On the front is a switch to turn of the Wireless adaptor & a little green light that goes out when you switch it off.
Normally when I turn on the computer it comes on automatically but sometimes it does not & when I look at Device manager it is missing. The only way I can fix it is to turn the computer off & on again. Sometimes I have to do this several times before it will work.
It also goes off by itself if the computer is left on for any length of time without being used.

any ideas ?

Ladies and Gentlemen,I have phoned several times with the Lenovo support, but unfortunately, no solution wasfound. I actually thought my question is really trivial: I would like to have an Intel Wifi Link 5300 card in my SL500 (2746 - KYG). Related to the hardware maintenance manual v1, under http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y6762.pdf this card is compatible (Intel WiFi Link 5300 2746-CTO FRU 43Y6459).I am no longer sure thatthebusiness phone support has the necessary quality and couldsolve the problem. At the beginning theyrepeatedly pointed out that the Intel Wifi Link 5100 could afford my desired 300 Mbit/s, and it would be a misconfiguration on my side. Taking a look at Intel's website -the card only sends max. 150 Mbit/s.After the employee of the business support talkedmanytimes to atechnician, he answeredthat the Intel WiFi Link 5300 is generally compatible. There after, I asked whether the FRU No. 43Y6459 is mentioned in my bios, because otherwise the notebook is not functionable and acknowledged his service with error 1802... The supoort guywas very surprised, he had never heard about this error. Atthis point I saw no way to progress the conversation and I ended it friendly.I would be very happy if someonehasa solution to my littleproblem. I ordered a card with the FRU# 43Y6459 and installed it. Unfortunately, without success - error 1802, even though this card should be compatible according Hardware Maintenance Manual. Please IBM/Lenov... Read more

Answer:SL500 and Intel Wifi Link 5300

Hello mate, I see that the FRU 43Y6459 is compatible with the SL500 2746-CTO. The only way to explain this would be the CTO model don't have the same whitelist than the KYG.The only way to get rid of that is replacing your BIOS with a hacked one who doesn't have a whitelist. You'll void your warranty and it's at your own risk.

Hi, since my WLAN Card seems to be broken I bought myself a new Intel Wifi Link 5100 for my W500. After I replaced the old card with the new one, I get a "1802 unauthorized network card error".I googled for the problem an now I am completely pissed about lenovo. My W500 has a standard slot for such cards, but the W500 has a bios which checks cards against a whitelist and I cannot turn this completely useless check off.Any idea what I could do?2 weeks ago I started thinking about buying a new notebook after christmas. Now I wonder, whether the W530 suffers from the same problem. In the moment I am not sure, whether it makes any sense to buy another lenovo product, when it turns out, it could be crippled the same way as my W500. So does anybody know, whether the W530 suffers the same problem. A last question? What happens, when I plug a WLAN-Stick into USB? Must it also be authorized by lenovo and how do I find out, which products are authorized? Thanks in advance Thomas

Answer:W500 and Intel Wifi Link 5100

welcome to the community.

sorry for your troubles.
afaik, all ThinkPads of at least the last 5(?) or more generations have had a BIOS whitelist for mPCI/e WLAN / WWAN options. as i understand it, this is due to getting approvals from numerous "Communications" regulatory agencies around the world for the cards. unfortunately, i've never seen the whitelists published anywhere, so we normally go by the FRU #s included in hardware maintenance manuals when folks ask for advice on compatible cards.

re: the USB WLAN stick, you should have no issue similar to a whitelist block.

regards.

Hello, I'm trying to get wifi working on my x200, but nothing I try seems to work. Initially, in XP or Windows 7, the card wasnt even detected, so wouldn't come up in the unrecognized devices section in device manager.  I installed/uninstalled the drivers several times but nothing changed. I then opened up the Thinkpad and moved the wifi card from the first slot to the second.  Upon booting, in Windows 7 and again in xp, the card was recognised, but a code 10 error came up. I've tried replacing the wlan card with one from an R60, but the x200's boot software prevented the PC from booting up. Can anyon help? Thanks John

Answer:X200 and Intel Wifi Link 5100

Update to my first note.  After a day of installing countless drivers, bios updates and whatever else.  I'm pleased to say that my x200 is now woking in XP with wifi on the 5100. The PCI slot the 5100 card was in to start with did not register any device to be present.  The second slot, recognised the card but gave a code 10 error. I also followed the steps outlined in: kbartke's post on resolving the code 10 on 5100 issue.  That had no immediate effect, but may have eventually solved the problem. I also updated the bios to 3.02. The strange thing that seemed to work was changing the machine's name.  Once restarted, the wifi light came on. I now have to figure out how to get rid of all the bloatware i managed to install in my attempts to get this working... John

Hi everyone ! I just bought a new Lenovo Y470 and has been using it for couple weeks. My wifi network works fine since then. Until yesterday, it suddently stucked. I need some help. I've tried Disable/Enable the adapter but it still did not work. Please help!!Thanks.

Answer:Y470 wifi Intel Link 1000BGN

First off try rebooting the router if you haven't already, turn it off for a minute and switch it back on, If that doesn't work try a system restore and if that doesn't work go to Device Manager (don't worry if it's vista it still works for win 7) and uninstall the drivers and reboot, the system should automatically install them back once windows boots up. If none of them work ,you might need serious help.

I just configured another W700, and now, several components are not in stock. The usual suspects being the SSD drives, but now also the Intel WiFi Link 5350 card. I hope I can still change my order, and go with the Intel WiFi Link 5300, as WiMAX is likely going to be dropped by Sprint, the third largest cellular carrier (out of four), although Sprint says it will keep on fighting what many are looking at as a dead technology, although it still has other big companies backing WiMAX.

Ok I have a Asus G60VX thats less than a year old running windows 7. On Friday (three days ago) the system was working fine, I could connect to the internet and everything. Tonight when i turned on my laptop it showed that i couldn't connect to the internet. So i rebooted both my computer and router thinking it was my brother playing Xbox live. It still didn't work. So i tried the usual suspects: deleted the saved file and made a new one, went into the device manager and made sure there weren't any problems (there weren't), i even tried doing a system restore but to no avail. I tried the Fn combo on my keyboard and the switch on the front but this still didn't work. After three hours searching for a solution on my desktop (which can access the internet fine) I kinda want to take a sledge hammer to the thing. :) So at this point i'm begging for a solution! thanks!

Answer:Problem with Intel WiFi link 5100?

Hi.

Did you install any iTunes or Apple software before this happened?

For now, try resetting the network protocol tcp/ip stack. In an elevated command prompt, copy and paste this then hit enter:

Code:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Then do the same for this command:

Code:
netsh winsock reset
Reboot and test the connection. If still no good, go into Internet Explorer.

Tools | Internet Options | Connection | Lan Settings

and make sure there are no checked boxes. Then ok your way out a few times. Reopen IE and test.

If still no good, please respond about the Apple, iTunes software and/or do you have mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager?

I've been having issues with my laptop and its wifi card for the past couple of months. It's an Intel WiFi Link 5100 and my internet just randomly stops working, other computers and devices still work fine, but on my computer I cannot browse the internet (however sometimes downloads don't stop for some reason). Updated my drivers, turning it off and on does nothing, and I'm pretty sure it's not my firewall but next time the internet stops working i'll make sure.

When I say it randomly stops working I mean I'll turn the computer on it will work for a bit then just stop then a little bit later it will work. No other computers or devices experience those kind of pulses here.

I have an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN and it keeps crashing my laptop. I would be working and my screen would freeze randomly and my computer would remain unresponsive. This only happens when I turn on my laptop's wireless card and put it to use.

I tried multiple drivers but the newer ones froze my computer faster. I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and it still does the same.

Uninstalling the driver and rebooting while letting Windows install a default driver yields the same results.

Much help needed!

I purchased my T500 within the first week Lenovo had it available for US consumers to order.  I was assured the machine was going to come with a WiMax card.  I gave it to my daughter to use.  We never tested WiMax since we did not have WiMax in our city until October of last year.  Came to find out, our machine did not come with a WiMax card as was promissed.  It has in it the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card instead.  Needless to say, I no longer feel comfortable ordering from Lenovo anymore.  We got seven laptops in the house.  Five of which are ThinkPads.  However, we've moved over to Samsung after this unpleasant experience. Today I wanted to see if there's an updated version of the driver I'm running for my WiFi card, to my unpleasant surprise, the driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card in my T500 does not exist anywhere at www.lenovo.com.  I only see drivers for the Intel 5150 and the Intel 5350 cards. Does anybody out there have any idea where I can find the latest driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN in my duped T500 laptop?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer:T500 - Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN Driver

In the T500 driver matrix you will find the following entry;

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200/ 6205, Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250,Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300,Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG, 3945ABG Network Connection, Intel WiFi Link 1000/ 5350, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG/ 4965AGN

Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows XP 08 Sep 2011 14.02.0000

The link leads you to the following download page:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-77063

This package installs the software (Wireless LAN driver and utility) to enable the following devices:

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 (Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000)
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205
Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300

Hi, new to the forum and having a problem. My WIFI-N is really slow, the edge 13 will connnect 48-72Mbps only.I know it only has the 2,4GHz channel and no 5GHz at all. this should not prevent me having at least 150Mbps connection. My router is full 300Mbps device. My settings:Edge: 802.11n bandwith for 2,4GHz =auto, Ad Hoc QoS = WMM enabled, transmitting power = 5. maxRouter: WPA2 (pre shared key) AES, Area = Europe, Channel ID = auto, Transmitting power = 100, Bandwith = 20/40MHz Similar case is described here, but it not solved yet. Thanks AltGr

Hello, I have already RMA'd my Ideapad Y560 2 times and still having an issue, they stated that the Wifi was tested and fully functional. Here is my problem. I can ONLY get connected wirelessly to my router/modem when I am within the same room as the router. Once I leave the room, I immediately lose connection, or it shows as "Limited Access" and I cannot get internet even though the network is still discoverable with a range of 4 to 5 bars. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, I have also tried using GNOME linux boot cd, I have updated to the newest drivers, I have set wireless in energy management to maximum performance in all instances, I have unchecked the "disable wireless when power saving option" same outcome. I have called my ISP and they couldn't help either. If anyone can help me please let me know, I really hope I don't have to send it in for RMA a 3rd time Lenovo customer support is really great but these guys are making too many mistakes on the repair end.

Hello,         Im interested to use of WWAN in my laptop, My is Thinkpad T400, having with Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN.  please guide me with process accesing the simcard slot in laptop. Waiting for your reply. With Regards  Santhosh

Answer:Regarding using wwan in T400 with Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN

Hi,

I believe the SIM card slot is in the battery bay.  Remove the battery to access.

That Intel 5100 is a wifi card, not a wwan card.  Do you also have a wwan card installed, or is that what you are asking about?

Information on both (SIM and wwan card installation) is in the hardware maintenance manual: Hardware Maintenance Manual - T400 & R400

I recently needed to restore my T500 to factory defaults. After doing so I have not been able to access any of the content on my network over wireless. It will conect to the access point, get the IP settings, etc. but when I try to get on the internet, or anything on my network, it says its an invalid name/address. If I plug in the LAN, everything works just fine. Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:Intel WiFi Link 5300 can't connect to the Internet

Can you be more specific as to the error you get? What operating system are you using? Not that this should matter, but have you tried updating your wireless drivers from Lenovo.com, or direct from Intel if necessary? Also don't forget something as silly as rebooting your access point & modem.

I've read a dozen postings and think I know what's going on but hopefully someone can simplify it for me. With the Realtek RTL8191SE I am experiencing 4-5 minute boot times and WiFi connect times on my T400S (2801).  I decided to get the Intel WiFi Link 5300 agn card (533AN_MWW) to allow 5ghz connections and eliminate the Realtek problems.  I installed the card, connected the wires properly (Grey1, Black2, White3), hardware WiFi antenna switch is on, card is recognized by Windows, Intel 14.3.2.1 driver, driver is enabled but when I open Access Connections, no wireless networks are found.  Fn+F5 shows that the 802.11 Wireless Radio is present but with a status of Off.  When I click the Power On button, it turns green and closes automatically 30 seconds later but remains Off and still no networks found.  I don't think this adapter is whitelisted by the BOIS but I could have a different version than Lenovo approves.  I tried the other tips given such as disabling n, turning power management off, etc but to no avail.  Ideas?

Answer:Intel WiFi Link 5300 agn card not able to turn on via Fn+F5

I think I might have figured it out.  There are two PCI Express Mini Card slots on the T400S (2801).  The shorter slot is for WiFi/WiMax cards and the longer slot is for WAN cards.  The longer 5300 cards on the market cannot be used in the longer slot.  Windows recognizes the cards but Access Connections (or maybe the BIOS) does not allow it to operate.  Can anyone verify this?

Hello,

Im about to tear my hair out, here is my situation I really hope someone can help.

I have recently brought a laptop with built in wireless G, before this I had two desktops, one of them linked to a usb cable modem (via usb) and the pc linked via crossover. I setup a peer to peer wireless network between my usb connected pc and my laptop, they connect at excellent signal strength but the transfer rate is 1.0mbps, it suddenly drops from 54 to this. I tried changing all the channels etc etc but to avail. So what i did then was to get the access point i was using on my xbox and plug the modem into that, so basically all pc's will be wireless, but the trouble here is, i can either have my desktops on the internet, or my laptop, at no time can a desktop and laptop both access the internet. To switch between the two, i have to power off the cable modem and then select repair on the one i want to user for net access.

Any help on either of these issues would be appreciated,

Thanks Lee.

p.s my network adapter in the pc is also a G.

Answer:Excellent signal strength wireless G but 1.0mbps?

I too am having a similar issue. It almost seems like something is jamming the wireless signal.

I have experienced this now with 2 different brands of G Routers: Belkin and Linksys. They both worked like a champ for about 5 days, then began dropping the connection and not being able to find it again. When it does re-connect after several minutes, it shows excellent signal strength but 1.0 Mbps.

I have tried power cycling the Cable Modem and Router several times with the same results.

Any ideas?

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get wireless network transfer speeds on windows 7 to go faster than 1.0 mbps. I have wireless N on one computer and wireless G on the laptop. so i am limited by 54mbps theoretically, but i still think it should be faster than 1.0mbps, that is straight garbage. I thought wireless was suppose to be faster than that.

Answer:How to get Wireless Transfter in Windows 7 faster than 1.0mbps?

if you're getting 1mbt then something is up for sure. What kind of router is it? any special firmware? Do both PC's get shitty transfer rates? What are the makes and models of their wireless adapters?

There's about eleventy-billion things it could be. Need to narrow it down a bit

This is a new machine (to me). It is a T-500 2242CTO with an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN card and a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit.  I successfully VPN using Ethernet from this machine and wirelessly from other machines in my home network.  However, wireless VPN connectivity from this machine fails 100% of the time.  Current drivers and updates are installed.  I am using the Windows VPN client and receive the following message: Error 800: The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed.  I turned on logging and found no useful information, to me, in the mounds of data generated.  I've also un-installed the wireless driver, re-installed it, un-installed Lenovo Access Connections and the same error continues.  Has anyone encountered this issue or have suggested fixes?

This has been happening for the past three days. I just recently bought a laptop, the Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898, with Intel? WiFi Link 5100.

I would be just surfing on the internet and then the WiFi link would randomly just stop working. I would go to the available connections window, and the network i'm connected to would say 'Connected with limited connectivity', and then it would disconnect and then it would not be able to detect any networks, even though it previously did before. I know it's not a network problem because the same problem occured on two different networks I have set up in two different places. The device manager does not report anything wrong with it, and I did not randomly turn off the wifi for any reason. I would have to reset my laptop in order to fix the problem.

Hi,

I just bought a Sony Vaio with Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 Network Adapter.

I primarily use the notebook at my home & office network.
Home Network Router: Linksys WRT54G
Office Network Router: Beetel 450BXi (ADSL2+Modem)

The issue am facing is while am on to the network (mostly home network) suddenly it goes into limited connectivity & gets disconnected; while other PC's remain connected.

And then you have to either re-install the Wireless LAN driver or re-start numerous times.

This has been happening regularly. Pls assist in resolving the issue.

I obtained my T400 in November, and notice that the driver for my Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless adapter is version 12.1.0.14 from 8/28/08. On the Intel Web site, I've noticed that the driver was upgraded to 12.1.2.1 on 11/24/08: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=3062&DwnldID=17163&strOSs=... Are we permitted to install the latest driver (including the Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Windows Vista, or does this interfere with ThinkVantage Wireless Detection, etc.), or do we have to wait to see if Lenovo certifies this version? Thanks in advance,Mike

Am looking for a hardware solution: Pavilion DV7 1270 usUPGRADED TO WIN 10  64bit from WIN 7 64bit My current WIFI Wireless/Bluetooth card is an INTEL WIFI LINK 5100 agn. ( Original card) This is NOT SUPPORTED in Win 10... WIFI  no longer works. There are no solutions offered in HP Web assistance or via INTEL or MICROSOFT. I would simply like to find a compatible(upgrade) card that works in this system  with WIN 10? The card is accessible and replaceable ( in RAM Bay... as i remember) INTEL no longer supports this card (to and through win 10) HP Laptops are notoriously finicky with WIFI card replacements...? Short of adopting a usb dongal WIFI/BLUETOOTH option, I would like to effect an internal upgrade to the original card... seems simple enough? Thank You for whatever guidance you might afford

Answer:after win 10 upgrade, intel wifi link 5100 no longer support...

Hi: You may be able to get the card to work if you fiddle with some of the advanced settings on the advanced tab for the card in the device manager. I have 3 HP business notebooks...one has the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3965ABG card, one has the Intel Intel WiFi Link 4965AG card, one has the Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless card. The first two I didn't have to do anything to make them work. The 5300...device is present in the device manager saw wireless networks but would not connect when I clicked connect. I went into the advanced settings tab and I think I enabled WMM and the card works just fine and has so ever since. Try tweaking one of the settings in the advanced settings tab. I wish I remembered exactly which setting I changed that made it connect. I was ticked off, so I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. Could not understand why two older cards worked perfectly and the newer one wouldn't. Changing the wireless card would be extremely problematic as you are limited to just the cards listed in the service manual and half the time the ones listed in the manual cause the notebook not to boot up until the card is removed. Also, if you can't get the Intel 5100 to work, you can forget any of the others listed working on W10. I am very sure that changing one of those advanced settings will allow the 5100 card to work.

I'm pretty confused, and I'm hoping someone here can help me. Every time I restart/turn on the computer, the wireless adapter turns on for a couple of seconds then shuts back off.
Then I have to manually press the adapter button for it to turn back on. I reinstalled my Windows and that didnt fix it. The wireless works as it should after I turn it back on.

I checked the power settings, in the properties for the adapter, And i have set it to always be on.

Does anyone know why this might be happening and what I can do to fix it?
I have a "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN"

Two day ago I used ThinkVantage SYstem Update and installed Intel Wifi link driver (ver 13.01.1000). But since then my computer was randomly cut off internet connection, and the wireless signal strength icon on the system tray indicated no nearby wireless network. And then it powered off the wireless connection. Whatever I do, I cannot re-power on the wireless (I used Access Connection to power on the 802.11 wireless radio, but it could not be turned on and nothing happened) unless I restart the computer. I thought it might be the router that malfunctioned as this problem never happened before. But after I checked the router and used another notebook to test wireless connection, I was sure the router ran very well. Then I re-installed the TVT Access Connection (ver 5.61) and the Intel WIFI Link Driver (ver 13.01.1000) but the problem remained. Could anybody give a possible solution?  I also noticed on Lenovo's website, the Intel wireless card driver for T61 is v13.00.0000 Windows Vista 23 Oct 2009. It's lower than what I have now. Could that be the cause? My ThinkPad T61 has the following configuration:Model: T61 8897CTOOS: WinVista Home Basic SP2 32bitLanguage: ENWireless Card: Intel 3945 ABGWireless Card Driver: 13.1.1.1 (previous one was 13.0.0.0)TVT Access Connection: 5.61

Answer:New Intel WIFI Link Driver Randomly cut off Internet Connection

Hi carlven,Anytime when wireless driver is updated, Access Connections also needs to be reistalled.Do this, first uninstall your wireless driver and access connections, thereafter reboot your system. Then install wireless driver first, again reboot, subsequently install access connections, reboot again. When installing any lenovo driver manually, keep in mind they first extract themselves to a default location in C:\Drivers..., second .exe setup must be run from that location to successfully install the drivers.Hope it helps.

Firstly, sorry for my english.  Now, where┤s the problem. I┤ve bought two days ago a brand new Lenovo Z570 with pre-installed Win7HP. I do not like it, so I updated it to Proff. version. I installed all the drivers, and when I moved to other room in flat, I was/am not able to connect to internet. Wifi signal is excellent in every room, but the only place where I can connect to internet is my table where is also the router. There┤s no problem in connectivity with other devices. My older NB Dell Inspiron 1520 with Broadcom wifi adapter has no problems with connection.  Yeah, and if I move in the same room where┤s router too just for a 3 metres, I cannot connect to internet, but the signal is great.  I dont think the problem could be in router ┤cause other devices (4 NB┤s) are able to connect to the internet in every room. Where could be problem and what I have to do? Thanks for replies
