I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Yoga 3 pro 1370 - battery charging problems

Hi nsoldicic ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try going to Device Manager and uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller if listed.

If same issue Uninstall Energy management from the programs and features under control panel . check if there is any difference , You may reinstall updated version from support site.

You may also update the BIOS following this discussion :
A new BIOS update was released on May 15th that addresses customer reports of inconsistent charging on Yoga 3 Pro laptops. It can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-3-pro-1370-laptop-len...
If you are experiencing any other symptoms such as error messages, or you are unable to upgrade your BIOS (which requires a charge of 30% to prevent bricking your laptop in the event of a power outage), you may have a bad battery or some other issue which requires repair. Please contact Lenovo Service for support.

Mfg date for this laptop is Oct 2014, Windows 10 OS. About a month back battery power was about 25% when I plugged charger in. the screen became brighter, means it was charging. Suddenly the computer shut down and though charger was connected, the charging light went off. Thereafter the computer did not turn on either with charger or without. Even the charging light did not turn on. Changed the charger as well as cable but neither charging indicator turned on nor computer turned on. It was like battery fully down and charger not connected. Took it to Lenovo service center and they made it alright and told me that they had disconnected the battery and reconnected. The power left in the battery was still 25%. Exactly same thing happened once again yesterday and I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it worked. Since it happened second time, whatever the problem may be, was not solved permanently by above procedure. Can someone help what could be the reason and how to solve it permanently?

I just received my Yoga 3 Pro-1370 Laptop from the Lenova Repair Center - this was the 2nd service request for the battery issue. The laptop battery still does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet. Sometimes the charging indicator light will indicate that it is charging - but charges 10 - 15 seconds and goes off. Confirmed the battery is not charging even though the light is not on just to be sure the issue is not with the power indicator light. At this point the Lenova Repair Center has had possession of my laptop longer than I have in 2017. Not sure where to turn to, Call Center/Support seems to be encountering problems and can't log a Service Call? Seriously, I was asked to schedule a call for them to call me when their systems are up? Laptop is under warranty, but I'm beginning to think they are trying to run out the clock. I'm typing fast - as Battery Life is below 10% Any and all suggestions are welcomed.Regards.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

After checking with the technical support team, there was indeed a routine maintenance yesterday but verified that it is now ok to call in with them to verify the status of the repair aside from visiting the repair status online lookup.

My laptop suddenly stopped charging. I've checked the adapter, it still provides the USB power to charge my mobile phone. I can also charge my phone from the residual charge in the battery. So the remaining possibilities are that the charger isn't producing 20V power, the wire has gone bad or there's a problem within the laptop. The replacement charger costs a pretty penny and will take time. Is there any way of checking if the wire or the charger block are working or not ? The alternative of taking it to Lenovo sucks, can't work for a while. ThanksRahul

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 1370 not charging

First, is it still under warranty? Many are. If it is, call support. Do you know anyone with another machine where you can borrow an adapter? The Yoga 700 and Yoga 900 use the same sort of plug except they have a max power draw of 65W. The 700 and 900 don't work right on the Y. 3 pro's 40-w adapter, but your machine is OK with the larger one. I looked at the adapter and the power cord and it would be difficult to test the output with a meter, without shorting something out. I have all sorts of tools and meters, and I takeapart and fix machines, so if it were mine, I would open the machine and pick up the input leads from inside and test with a meter. If you are not comfortable doing that kind of thing, don't risk making it worse. DON'T OPEN UP AND WORK ON A MACHINE THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

I've combined several discussions into one because there are multiple cross-overs of symptoms.

After reviewing all the posts, I see there are two types of problems discussed:

Battery charging but only to a certain percentage
Battery intermittently charging

Several people have reported success with their limited battery percentage problem by following the solutions suggested by MarinM and Vladtech.

For the intermittent charging, several people have reported that sometimes the battery charges, sometimes it doesn't. I'd like to dig into these reports. I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

When does it charge, when does it not?
Are there any patterns to this?
Does swapping electrical outlets make a difference?
Does the USB 2.0 charging port appear loose?
Does the cable show any signs of damage?
Does the AC adapter show any signs of damage?
When a second device is plugged into the extra USB port on the AC Adapter, does this impact Y3P charging?
Are there any battery error messages?

Thank you for your help,

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I've had my Yoga 13 for a few years now, but it wasn't until last fall or so that I started to get 'Unauthorized Battery' warnings upon start-up from the Energy Management program. This is a bit ludicrous to me, as the Yoga 13's design makes it impossible to switch out the battery on your own (ie. it's the original battery, and not an unauthorized replacement). As a result, my laptop stops charging, which is a concern for me as I am a university student who doesn't always have a power outlet handy. I understand this is a serious bug or issue. The first time (and subsequent times) it happened, I found a similar thread here on the community board which advised numerous fixes which have worked for me in the past whenever my laptop starts displaying the unauthorized battery warnings. This time, however, nothing I do seems to work and I'm getting ridiculously frustrated. The things I have tried thus far (that previously worked, but this time around, did not):- Uninstalling and reinstalling Lenovo's Energy Management program - NOTE: Usually uninstalling this program removes the 'block' on battery charging, but this time around it doesn't seem to be working. - Fiddling around with the Energy Management program's power settings - Uninstalling Notebook FanControl (which I used to control the random fan accelerations that the Yoga 13 is prone to)- Doing a hard boot by holding the power button - Booting from BIOSThe last time this happened, I had the unit sent i... Hi, just recently I've noticed that battery in my Yoga never goes above 90%. When I hower on the battery icon it says plugged in, charging, but no matter how long I keep it charging it's still 90%. I don't know if it can be related but I've updated to Windows 8.1I tried to reinstall power management software, drivers, reset battery gauge with lenovo sw but nothing helped. Any ideas?

Hello, I just bought (last week) a Yoga 2. I love it, but the battery doesn't seem to really be charing to 100%. I left my computer charging overnight (alongside my cell phone, which charged just fine) and then tried to use it the next day, but when I start up windows I get shown a message that the battery is only charged to 55%. I immediatly plugged it it (I needed to be using it on battery power for a while) and after charging for about 10-15mins it told me it was 100% charged. I proceeded to use it on battery power andeverything seemed fine (ie I was getting about 4-5 hours of life out of it) so I didn't worry about it. But it happened again today - I left the computer to charge overnight (plugged into the same powerstrip as my phone, which charged just fine once again) and when I started up isaw that the battery had only charged to 55%. I decided to just keep using it to see if it would jump up to 100% (a friend told me that maybe the system is just calibrating to the battery and so gets the percent charged wrong when it powers up). However, the battery has just steadily discharged, leading me to believe it really was only charged to 55%. After reading a bit online I checked the Lenovo Energy Manager, but I don't have conservation mode turned on (or any other special settings, I haven't used that app before). Please let me know if there is a simple fix - I really like this computer,... My battery is at 0% available, plugged in charging, but it never goes about 0%. I've tried resetting the battery gauge in Energy Manger 1.0.1.49 but that only runs for a few seconds and reports that the gauge reset is complete. I've also disabled the ACPI control in device manager then enabling it and the icon appears to be charging but only for a few seconds then stops. Having conservation mode on or off doesn't seem to make any difference. The latest BIOS is installed and I believe I have the latest version of Energy Manager. Anyone else having this problem?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Battery not charging

I've experienced this a couple times on my new Yoga 2 as well. The first instance, it just started charging again after about an hour of use. The second time, I rebooted after about an hour of it being plugged in and not charging, and once I reached the desktop, the battery showed 43%, but still not charging.. So i guess it was actually charging the whole time without showing it?After about 2 days of ownership, I've decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 followed by loading all the necessary drivers listed on lenovo's product page, and I can happily say this 0% plugged in not charging thing hasn't happened again.

I recently noticed that my battery was showing 10 percent when it had been plugged in all day. I plugged it in and it didnt seem like it was charging. I could see the laptop plugged in animation, but it was not charging. I woke up the next morning it was showing 96 percent, which at this point should be 100 percent. I'm now noticing that it's just not charging. Are there known issues? Regardless, this is totally unacceptable.

I have a Yoga 13 with Windows 8.1.No problem for one year, while it was under warranty. Then suddenly it stopped charging even when plugged. When i plug the laptop, three different things can happen :-Screen flickers and battery icon flickers to between "plugged in, charging" and "not plugged in"-Or it keeps on 'not plugged in" Then the battery can stay at its low percentage for days and sometimes with no reason it goes 30% in 2 minutes. I do not have the 60% energy management software issue.I did factory reset two times.I did uninstall ACPI battery driver, shutdown, unplugged, wait 5 minutes and plugged back in.Energy management up to date (12/2014) and bios up to date. But problem still NOT SOLVED !I am not the only one with weird yoga 13 issues on this board but no solution can be found online.Could anyone please guide me through this?(Before i throw this 1000$ junk through my windows ?)

Answer:Yoga 13 Battery not charging

Battery not charging, when it gets to zero will not work at all even when plugged in. Let it site for a couple weeks unplugged to get battery drained as much as possible. Plugged it in once a day for a about 30 sec to see if anything would happen, nada... After about 2 weeks, plugged in and finally orange light flashed then when solid and it started charging. . Let it charge for about 2 hours then decided to see if it works. Yes! But then noticed as soon as it was up and running battery starts decreasing and went all the way to dead... I have tried all the things mentioned on this and other boards to no avail. I am thinking class action may get some attention from Lenovo. Any thoughts?

Hello there! I have the issue that my newly bought Yoga 11 (three weeks ago) is charging whenever it seems to feel like. The first time I have charged it, it went up to 92 % telling me its now in power state and not charging. This happened triple. Yesterday my Yoga was beneath the 50 % mark and I plugged in the powercable, the same again: not charging. I unplugged the power cable and at 0 % and a shutdown I booted it and it charged perfectely up to 99 % without moaning. I unplugged the cable and at 77 % the same again, I plugged in the power cable and it charged up to 99 % again. Is this a bug (battery problem) or a feature (thresholds for a long living battery)? Anyone with the same? Tia,- bensty

Answer:Yoga 13 and battery is plugged in, not charging.

What is the charge level? If it is more than 60%, then the battery will start charging when battery level goes below 60%. This would be valid if the battery setting has been set to maximum lifespan in energy management. If optimize for runtime had been selected and it still doesnt charge or in the eatlier option below 60% it is not charging, then you would have to take laptop to support.

I am a new user for the Yoga S1, but I was wondering if it is possible to turn off battery charging. I mainly use my laptop at a desk (so I rarely leave it unconnected from Power Plug). I know this is bad for the battery. On a dell that I own (Inspiron 14z) i can turn off battery charging when the laptop is plugged into the ac power plug. Is this possible w/ the lenovo yoga S1? The closest I've gotten to doing this was seeing an ability to turn off battery charging via BIOS, but that is only temporary (when comp is off and unplugged to switch out battery). Any suggestions woiuld be greatly appreciated.

Hi I upgraded to Windows 10 and ever since then my laptop battery is not charging. I am a computer illiterate and travelling at the moment so can not even seek my IT departments help. The problem is that the battery shows 1% charge and when connected it to AC the laptop works well - as soon as I disconnected, it goes into hibernate. The symbol for AC connection does show so the laptop is detecting the charger. Along with this I keep on getting a battery calibration suggestion and says that I have not calibrated my battery in a long long time - although I do it every time it shows up. So I dont know what that is. Before the Windows 10 upgrade, my laptop on a 100% charge was giving me up to 6 hours of usage so I doubt there's anything wrong with the battery physically. Would appreciate an experts advice on this. Please speak to me as you would to a 4 year old as like I said I'm completely computer illiterate! Thanks & Regards

Hello,

I seem to be having an intermittent "Not Charging" issue on my Lenovo Yoga 900.

It usually happens when it's fully charged and I unplug it for a few minutes and then plug it back in. If I let it drop below 93-95% it will usually say "Plugged in, charging" again.

Is this some sort of glitch, or a feature? I tried looking to see if I had the "conservation" setting on, and I do not.

I have a few days to take it back to the store if I need to. I'd really rather not send it in because we have problems with couriers dropping off packages that end up getting stolen because we live in an apartment with multiple locked doors, so they usually pitch it beside the door and run off and then someone else takes off with our stuff. Had it happen a couple of times with Amazon orders. (grr)

Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

Good day and welcome to the community. This is my experience with my Yoga 900 and Yoga 900S. This way the system isn't trying to constantly top off 1 or 2%, which is not good for the battery. By contrast, Conservation Mode will charge to ~60% and then stop. That has some benefits, also. Personally, I'm not using Conservation Mode, and so far I've not seen any negative effects on my batteries.

Hoipe this helps.Regards.

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

As I'm typing this now im running on about 20% battery and dropping. I've had my Z710 Ideapad for almost 2 years now. within these 2 years I've replaced the battery twice, got 3 new adapters, and had sent it in for the factory to basiclly gut it and replace it with graphics drives that were inferior to the previous ones. So needless to say Its really annoying that now my biggest problem is that my laptop now will randomly stop charging randomly, regardless of if its on or off.

Hi!My Yoga 500-15ISK Laptop seems to have a battery issue. For some time now, whenever I plug my laptop into the AC power, I get this message, e.g. "(% charge) available, (plugged in, charging)", however for some reason, the battery level actually stays the same even after a significant amount of time of being plugged in to the AC supply. Moreover, the battery icon initially shows the animated one which indicates charging is indeed in progress, then after a few moments, it will freeze on the estimated level. Before this, my laptop's battery usually charges relatively quickly. Also, I have not turned on the Conservation Mode so it must charged up beyond 50-60% especially if I leave it plugged in overnight. This issue is really bewildering me right now. Any comments or suggestions on how I can address this issue? Thanks!Other notes re my laptop:It's been around 10 months since I've bought it and I have encountered this issue only a few days ago.I have no other issues with it.

Hi, i've had my Yoga 3 (11 inch (windows 10)) version for around 18 months, and never had any issues with charging. Over the weekend (23/10/2016) I plugged in my charger, and nothing happened... this worried me, as the laptop only had 6% battery, and if it was a driver problem, this could be very tricky to fix on a dead laptop. My original thoughts were the cable has somehow broken (despite being in perfect condition), and eventually after moving the cable and carefully pushing it into the laptop even further it started to charge! I decided to see if there were new drivers available for my model, and "coincedentally" a new power management driver was released on 23/10/2016! I tried to install this driver, but as soon as the tool starts to run within a milisecond it closes itself.. So my questions are... 1) Do you think its hardware or driver issue? After messing with the lead, the laptop does charge if you bend the wire in a certain direction making me think it's a hardware issue.2) If its a driver issue, (which the driver update coincedence points to).. Can anyone help me install the driver? http://support.lenovo.com/fr/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1170/downloads/DS10... Any help on this would be greatly appreaciated. Thankscnagra

A few weeks ago, my Yoga 2 Pro entered a permanent "plugged in, charging" state whether plugged in or running on just the battery. The battery drains as normal, it just always shows the plugged in icon. It also charges as normal. When I turn it off, the "plugged in" LED remains lit even after I unplug the power cord. Anyone else have similar issues? I'm tempted to rewrite the BIOS and see if this fixes it. Thanks for the help!

Answer:Yoga 13 Battery stuck at 5% "Plugged in, not charging"

Got lenovo support help. What fixed the problem was unplugging the charger, shutting down the computer, then holding the power button for 20 seconds. While the button was held, the computer turned on, showed the startup screen, and the quickly turned off again. I plugged the charger back in, and voila, charging again!

Hello, My recently bought Thinkpad Yoga 14 recently had this strange problem going on. The battery goes down, even when the AC cord is plugged in. The battery message says "plugged in, not charging". What exactly is the problem, and how do I fix it? The laptop came with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you! ??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem. The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery. If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge. I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%. A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

Hi, i bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 machine 3 days ago, and now the battery is discharging and when i plug the power cord the battery icon shows me the "plugged in not charging" message. The problem began last night. I've read some forums, and tried changing the battery configuration to this or that, nothing works. I've also read that in 65% the battery will start to charge. It doesn't, i'm currently in 56% and discharging. The problem began after a Windows 8 update, so I'm suspecting the OS is the problem.... I dont know what will happen when the battery discharge completely.... but i will discharge it and tell here what happens... Help!!!

Hi iperich,

Thanks for posting in the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to advise you to try to turn on the machine using the Ac-Adapter only without the battery to make sure if the Ac-Adapter is charging and working fine,

If the charger is working fine let me ask you to try to uninstall the Lenovo energy management application and then try to refresh the system and then try to install the software back again and then check the battery icon status,

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Regards

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Any ideas please, I've run out of google search ideas!!

Answer:Yoga 13 Battery stuck at 60% "Plugged in, not charging" after updating to Windows 8.1

Go into Lenovo Energy Manager > click on the menu button > Settings tab > turn OFF conservation mode. This setting is designed to help conserve the health of your battery if you tend to use your laptop while plugged in. It's not good for the battery to be held at 100% for long periods of time, so instead this setting stops chargins when the battery reaches 60% to prevent battery damage.

Amy, It appears as though the attempt to find out why the BIOS fix isn't working is being ignored. I will continute to document for any other action moving forward. Called phone tech again. They still have no information or can't explain what the problem is. No one has told them that the battery issue is a problem. This morning upon opening battery was at 40% plugged in. It is discharging not charging while plugged in. Indicator tells me the laptop will be fully charged in 883 hours 23 minutes, then 1041 hours and 3 minutes, then 550 hours. Phone tech or shipping to service would be an option but only IF they have any idea what's wrong or at the very least are aware that this forum exists and can review problems and fixes. Until then we are looking for answers here and document Please advise.

I usually use my Yoga 2 Pro with AC Adapter plugged in. I turn on Conversation mode in Lenovo Energy Manager and get a message of "Plug in - Not Charging" everytime the battery is already 60% charged. Does it mean that AC electricity will directly serve to run the laptop without going through the batttery like a desktop computer?
I'm worried this habit will ruin my battery lifetime.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Does Plug in - Not Charging on Conversation Mode harm the battery?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Yes, when the charge level reaches 60% and you receive that message it means the battery is no longer receiving a charge and the laptop is being powered by the AC adapter.

No, using conservation mode will actually extend the health of your battery which means the battery will have a longer life time. It is the continually charging when the battery's charge level reaches 100% level that will shorten the life of the battery.

hi, I'm exactly similar problem. it is really annoying. I am facing the below given 2 problems with the battery of a brand new lenovo U41-70 i5 Red model.

1. The plugged in but not charging error. Some suggestions in the web ask the user to remove the battery and change some stuff in the device drivers, but in my model the battery is not removable.

2. The battery dissipates a lot of charge while in complete switched off mode (not in sleep, nor hibernated). I have also disabled the windows fast boot mode from the power options, but doesn't work.
To give an estimate, in approximately 9 hours of shutdown (and the charging removed) the battery dissipates from a full 100 to 70%.

Note: I have updated the laptop which came with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Hence, the system is running on windows 10 now. The laptop is 10 days old.

Hello, As the Title suggests, I am not able to turn on my Lenovo Yoga 2 13.When I try to turn on the Laptop, the White Light on the power button comes up for 6 Seconds and then goes off. Keyboard lights do not turn on, & the same effect with pressing the Novo recovery key.The battery does charge (The lights change according to the charge levels.) Things that I have tried so far: 1) Remove the power cable and press the power button for 30 Seconds, 60 Seconds, & 90 Seconds. No Effect. 2) Open up the backside, remove the battery cable (and battery), remove the power cable, and power discharge by pressing the power button. Turn on the laptop using just the Power cable. No Effect. 3) Remove the heatsink, clean it and then reapply the Thermal paste. No Effect. 4) Remove the hard disk and then try turning on. No Effect. Despite trying all these steps, the effect is still the same. I honestly do not ahve any idea what to do now. Can anyone suggest something? Any help would be appreciated!Thank You!

Hello, I'm in a bit of a pickle, in an attempt to reinstall Windows 8.1 after numerous Windows 10 installation fails, I was successful in that aspect.. However, when I tried to reinstall drivers, especially this one Intel Serial I/O Driver for Windows 8.1 64-bit - Lenovo YOGA 3 Pro-1370 It froze and I had to force restart the computer. To my terrible luck, the computer doesn't boot anymore. I tried looking at it through Ubuntu live cd and it reads the disk and shows the partitions but I cannot write to them or even clear them. I inferred that the hard drive was the problem, so I've ordered one but then I'm thinking about it again and maybe it had something to do with that driver flashing something to bios. I don't know where to go from here, none of the recoveries work or anything. Please advise

If you can get into the BIOS, disable Fast Boot and Secure Boot. These would be the only settings in the BIOS withholding boot from a healthy partition.

Sorry to hear about your issues!

I haven't encountered the USB disabling issue, however, hopefully I can assist with the power issues.

An indicator as to whether the charger is functioning or not is to look for the power button to be illuminated when powered off. The cable provides two busses: one that powers the laptop (20 volts), and the standard USB power (5 volts).

For lack of a better description, does your wall power adapter have some "play" on it when plugged in? Does the laptop charge until you slightly move the power adapter?

The User Profile issue sounds like an issue with the Windows 10 upgrade. I used to have these issues when upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8. The best bet would be to run a refresh. Unfortunately, it will erase your apps, but should retain your user data:

Is it still under warranty? It sounds likethere may be dirt or lint in the fan, or the bearing may be wearing out. To check, you need to remove the bottom cover. (10 T5 torx screws)

I am using a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 running Windows 10. The touchscreen never fails to work but the touchpad however causes a lot of problems. It will randomly stop working when I am using it, often when opening my laptop or when right clicking, but often without any apparent cause as well. One temporary method I have found that somtimes fixes the issue is to go into the HIDs in Device Manager and disable/re-enable the 9CE1 I2C HID Device. Sometimes this option will have a yellow triangle indicating that the device will not start and display this message in the driver properties: This device cannot start. (Code 10)A request for the HID descriptor failed. Other times however there is no acknowledgement of driver issues and attempting to enable the devie will cause the device manager to not respond, restarting my PC in recovery mode after a "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" message and wiping my recent files. I have tried everything from uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, updating the BIOS and disabling the driver to boot in safe mode. When updating the driver software through the device manager, it says the latest version is installed: The driver version is 10.0.10586.0, it says it is from 2006-06-21. Has anyone else had this issue before with their Yoga? Anyone know a solution? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Hi All, So I've had this aesthetically pleasing yoga 3 pro for about a month with the purpose for it to be used as a Uni Laptop. However I've come across a few issues that I am hoping I can get some help with. Firstly, I've lost all ability to use the touchscreen. Windows Device Managers is seeing it, but I have no way to enable/disable or test. Is there something I am missing? Secodly, through basic use I am finding the CPU and RAM usage well in excess of 80% for a lot of the time, with the system coming to a near grinding halt if I have approximately a dozen chrome tabs open, a couple of office docs and youtube or spotify running....this is a little worrying. Specification wise the laptop should be able to run the with very little hassle. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I purchased my Yoga 3 1370 from Best Buy in January of 2014. Glitch-y from the start, slow OS (and then I upgraded to Windows 10, even better...), calls back and forth with Lenovo Support and brought to Best Buy numerous times. Then this past September the Yoga stopped turning on completely. Brought into Best Buy again, tested the power cord, USB plug, etc. and determined the motherboard was fried. Called Lenovo as was told because the warranty of ONE YEAR was up, there was nothing they could do and I would have to purchase a new motherboard. End of story. Extremely frustrated. After spending over $1,100 for a supposedly top of the line product and multiple hours getting it fixed over 2 years, I have what is essentially a doorstop. I will never recommend Lenovo to anyone, both for product quality and customer care.

I'm just curious to the opinion of other users of the Yoga 3 Pro 1370. I bought this laptop almost 3 years ago and have had so many trouble with it. I'm really not happy at all with the product and the support of Lenovo. 3 years ago I bought the most expensive version for 1800 USD. Within one year the battery is not working in a right way more only 5% left of its capacityThe bluetooth is not working anymoreThe WiFi adaptor is not working anymore I use external WiFi adaptor now to have acces to the internetHave had nummerous problems wit the HiFi AUX not working anymoreHave had so many problems with windows 10 did over 10 new installations because of the famous blue screen. So I did get back to Windows 8.1The cooler fan is making noice constantlyAnd since yester USB ports not working anymore. So I don't have excess to the internet anymore because the WiFii adaptor is not working I need USB for thatI con not back up my data anymore becayse USB is not working anymore. Every Problem I described above I have searched on the internet and many people with a Yoga 3 Pro encountered the same problems. So far I never received an solution from Lenovo Support. I'm so sich and tired from this comapany and it's products and it's support. 18oo usd down the drain in 3 years and a lot of stress .... I hate it What are your experiences Yoga 3 Pro users?

Hi All - my laptop is approximately a year old and in relatively good condition. However, a few days ago a loud mechanical sound began coming from the right side of the laptop which I think must be coming from the fan but I'm really unsure. It sounds sort of like an engine running and is much louder than the typical sounds of the computer, and only goes away when tilting the computer 45 degrees to the left. Any ideas on how to fix this issue or am I done for?

Hi,

I am running Windows 10 and have a Yoga 3 Pro 1370. I recently started getting BSOD (page fault in nonpaged area) while downloading large torrents >1G from uTorrent. I searched everywhere and tried to disable the paging file size managing option in windows but i am still getting the BSOD.

Does anyone have similar issues with this model or a solution?

Hi, setup worked fine. Bat charged overnight. Tried to turne on in the morning. One blink of the powerbutton and of the keyboard - thats all. Novo key the same. With or without charging cord. Long press of power on charging gave short orange light - no start eather. Any suggestions?Regards, Oskar

Answer:yoga 1370 doesn´t boot anymore

1) Is this a new ultrabook?

2) Does the power light stay ON when you press power button?

3) Can you try connecting it to a external monitor and test?

If it is DOA, then contact Lenovo for a replacement.

I have a Yoga 3 Pro 1370. I am getting "ghost touches" on the touch screen when the lid is closed (I am using an attached monitor and screen). The touch screen should be disabled when the lid is closed. Is there a fix for this? I have searched for other reports of this problem and have found some other posts and links to solutions. However these are all (as far as I can tell) solutions for similar issues on other models and do not apply to my laptop. Please note that I am looking for a solution for this issue specifically for the Yoga 3 Pro 1370 model.

Sometimes this option will have a yellow triangle indicating that the device will not start and display this message in the driver properties:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A request for the HID descriptor failed.

I bought this Lenovo in November 2015. I have found that it operates really slowly ie. when I open a new tab for internet or open another program, it takes a while falsoor anything to open. Also, it gets really hot around the hinge area so Im not sure if this affects performance.I contacted Lenovo about how hot the Yoga was getting and was told that this slimline model does not have a fan so will get hotter than older style laptops.I chose this model to replace the U330 touch (which worked fine but had a problem with so John Lewis repalced it with this model).Another issue I have with this model is the battery life seems so short. The U330 Touch lasted mcuh longer, so I keep this one contatcly charging (as advised by Lenovo representative). Why does this Lenvo operate so slowly? Ive done a wifi speed check and its around 50mbs.Another complaint is the volume is extremely low at maximum, so you can only wwatch a film with headphones to get any decent sound volume. Can anyone help with these issues or is the laptop just not very good. Many thanks.

I have relied on Harmony to keep me updated, but I found this update in Lenovo support. It does not appear to be installed. Should I install it? Are there any precautions? Why did Harmony not install it? Any insights most appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370 - Backlit not working

Since Fn+space is not working, there seems to be only one thing in my mind - the backlight is faulty.

FN keys are low level instructions and have nothing to do with OS drivers. You should contact the vendor from where you bought it.

I ugraded to win 10 pro 64-bit a year ago, and now cannot install iCloud (any version) for windows. Apple does not have a solution. Install progresses to the "end" when a windows installer error occurs, and installation rolls back. Any solutions available? Thanks

I have had an issue with my Yoga 3 Pro from the day I first bought it less than a year ago. I get random double letters when typping. It's reallyy irritating. I've gone into windows settings and chaged the filter keys settings to try and captue some of the typing issues and double letters with no success. As you can see in a prrevious (and just now) sentence, this is a random and prevalent problem. I can not seem to address it. Has anyone else had this problem or is there a solution? I've updated to the most recent bios due to several battery problems I'm also having but that's for another thread. Haven't been very happy with this product since I purchased it because of the issues that plague it. Hoping they are just software issues and patches are in the worrks. Just typing these two paragraphs above lent to 4 instances of double letters. Please help. Thanks.

Recently the touchscreen on my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro stopped working. It is running Windows 10 and the most recent update it received was KB890830. I am getting an error code 10 for the I2C HID device ("A request for the HID descriptor failed"), but when I try to update it, I get a message saying it is already up to date. Disabling and re-enabling hasn't worked and I cannot find the driver on the lenovo website to do a fresh install. Any suggestions to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 3 Pro 1370 Ghost Touch issue

Hi all, Is there any assistance available to help remedy this issue on this model of hardware. As already advised, this issue is the exact same as the Yoga 3 14", however the firmware that has been released for that model does not work. Interestingily enougn, if I put a spacer between the screen and the keyboard the issue dissappears.Gotta love a hardware 'workaround' to a software problem. Any help available would be of great assistance. Cheers

Is there anyone who knows how to fix this problem? I went to settings and tried that already, but it just slows my cursor and I still get the double letters. Help?Jodie

Answer:getting double letters when typing on Yoga 3 Pro 1370

You've gone to keyboard properties in the control panel, adjusted the repeat delay and it affects the cursor? That is strange indeed. I do seem to get a few more double letters on shallow keyboards found on slim devices than keyboards with longer travel, but I chock that off as a cost of slim. Still, it shouldn't be too bad.

Folks,This IS a Lenovo board. I am not writing for the fun of it. I am a customer both personally and I recommend products and services professionally. What is my expectation of receiving a customer touchpoint from someone at Lenovo about this problem I am having with a family member's Lenovo Yoga 3? I want to believe; I want to believe... that Lenovo values the customer experience and is interested in its brand enough to provide some helpful feedback. Seriously, this is a really smarmy problem that only surfaced after having completing a forced Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1. I have purchased a brand new charging adapter and cord; I have uninstalled the ?Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" driver completely and rebooted. I have seen a variety of notes, posts, etc. that indicate a problem; I need a solution and I need it fast (and I'd like it to involve getting this fairly new machine back on track) and not having to buy a replacement either from Lenovo or another manufacturer. Please help. Thank you! #CustomerExperience #cX #LenovoYoga3Pro #BatteryNotCharging #NoPower
