Yoga 3 Pro Bluetooth issues with headphones/speaker

Question: Yoga 3 Pro Bluetooth issues with headphones/speaker

Wondering if anyone has had any issues with connecting to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones- the devices are technically paired (all icons and prompts say "connected") but the music still comes out thru the speakers. No idea how I can get it to work- no other laptop I've had as had this problem?! Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I bought the HP Pavillion 17-y054sa a couple of months back and decided to replace my worn out beats headphones, with some bluetooth headphones. Unfortunately the laptop appears to not be able to process streamed bluetooth audio while using the wifi antenna. The bluetooth headphones work flawlessly when using ethernet or no wifi enabled, but are very "laggy" or unresponsive when trying to play audio over bluetooth at the same time as using wifi. Have tested various scenarios, but came to the concludion that the laptop is jusy not capable of doing both, which is shame considiering its a reasonably newish model on the market, and the fact that bluetooth connected audio as well using wifi is common-place. I have updated drivers too, which has made no difference. Any help would be appreciated from the community - and just to point out; I'm very IT savvy as I'm a infrastructure/network engineer by profession Cheers for your help Lee

When I have a program that has audio open and decide to switch to a bluetooth speaker or headphones the device is recognized and it switches over but when I look at the volume mixer the program does not move to the new device. I have tried it with a desktop and laptop with windows 10. As well as a bluetooth speaker and bluetooth headphones. The current solution is to close and reopen the program. Is there a way to force it to move over? Is this intended for some reason? Thanks.

I bought a bluetooth dongle off ebay and was using bluesoleil software to get it to work.  It works but kind of a pain.  It did two weird things one is with the audio.  I uninstalled bluesoleil and tried to do a system restore but couldn't do so.

Anyway, my computer is connected to my hdtv.  If I want to use headphones instead, I put the tv on mute and just plug in the headpones.

Now, I can't do that anymore?  If I want the audio from either the tv or headphones, I have to go to profile and sound and select the default device.  How can I change the settings back to the way it was before?  Where it's automatic and I don't have to select the default device each time?

What's also changed is that I have two seperate volume icons down by the clock.  Usually, it's just the white one that says volume.  The second volume icon one is orange which wasn't there before, it usually disappears after I confirm I put a headphone jack to thte pc.  It's the realtek HD Audio Manager.  How do I make it go away?

Thanks.

Hello forum,I've paired Photive bluetooth headphones (PH-BTH3) successfully. Driver software window shows all green checkmarks and say device is ready to use. They show up in the Devices and Printers window in the Control Panel as Headpones. However, they don't show up as an option for speakers. Please assist! Thanks,EJ1

This all started a couple days ago with some loud buzzing and static on my headphones every time I turned up the volume. I'm not sure if this is a simple fix or not, since I tried my best to look up my issue but failed to find it due to not wording my exact problem correctly. So, I figured it would be easier if I just recorded it to show you guys the problem and if one of you could help it would be awesome!

And yes I have played around with enhancements to see if it would result in lowering the static noise, but no luck so far...

Answer:Audio issues speaker + headphones

I fixed it! yeaaaaa!! So the issue was that the Stereo mix was being completely stupid and causing the static, but I opened up volume mixer and just lowered the stereo mix volume to 0, which caused all the static to completely go away! Guess it was just a simple fix anyway lol

I have had this problem for years and its become worse and worse to a point where I barely have any sound on my computer anymore...

I have a pair of creative soundblaster jam bluetooth headphones and a belkin 4.0 usb bluetooth adapter... I have these problems

1) If i turn the headphones on theres no sound. I have to go to control panel, click sound and right click on the headphones and click connect everytime I boot my pc.

2) If i click connect my headphones windows will freeze/crash/stop responding instead of connecting them.

3) Windows has created 2 pair of devices, one called headset and one called headphones as well as a device for recording which creates a weird echo sound in my headphones.

4) Disabling the recording device and the duplicate pair of headphones sometimes removes the weird echo sound but most of the time it just disables the sound completely.

5) If i disable the duplicate pair of headphones or if I disable the recording device, windows enables them back again without my permission, which causes the weird echo sound to come back again.

6) Turning on my headphones while Im playing a computer game causes windows to crash completely and I have to log out or reboot my computer.

Honestly the problems has just gotten worse and worse over the years but its come to a point where I dont have any sound on my computer most of the time... I have the latest bluetooth drivers installed... please help

Sorry I completely forgot to give some informations about my... Read more

Answer:Serious bluetooth issues with headphones

You say this has been happening for YEAR'S? If its been going on for that long I would have to think its related to your motherboard. Might be time to get a new machine. Does it do this right after a O.S. install or re-install? Have you tried uncoupling all your Bluetooth devices and recoupling them? Have you updated your BIO'S and/or chipset? You could try a system file check, but if its been going on for that long I really think it's probably organic in nature.

So I have had this issue randomly after not using the Bluetooth headphones for a while. I could simply connect it the normal way and everything will connect and all that no issues at all. When I try to work with my music program, my sound has NO BASS. The sound is clear other than that. The thing about it is, searching forums and the like have yielded instructions to disable the Hands Free Telephony in the services tab of the headphones properties. When I attempt to do that, I get a Bluetooth Service Error saying "The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with" Uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth driver as well as the headphones has not fixed the problem. Neither has a restart. The headphones work fine with any other device. If possible I would not like to reinstall windows 7. That would be a long and tedious process because I would have to find, download and reinstall more than 1tb of data and I dont have time for that. Assistance would be very much appreciated

Hi all,

I've just added an iHome iHC5 as a bluetooth device on my computer. The drivers installed successfully and I can see this device under "Devices and Printers" in the Control Panel (possibly relevant note: It is listed as a headset for unknown reasons). I cannot select the iHome to be my default speakers when I try to "Manage Audio Devices" in the Control Panel because it is not available. I also do not see this device in Device Manager. Under Bluetooth Radios in Device Manager, what I do see is the following:

Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 and
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

When I go into Bluetooth Setting and attempt to "Connect" to the iHC5, it's there, but I am given an error message: "The parameter is incorrect."

With that, I'm all out of ideas. I'm just really hoping I don't have to uninstall and re-download the Bluetooth driver from the Dell website and remove and re-add the Bluetooth speakers because that's a nuisance. I've got a Dell XPS M1530 running Windows 7 64 bit.

Any thoughts? All ideas appreciated!

Hey guys,I have a lenovo yoga 2 and ever since I got it two months ago, the speakers have been wonky. Occasionally when playing music / any sound, a static noise occurs and kind of temporarily pauses whatever sound I'm listening to. And once it starts to happen, it keeps happening. I don't know any other way to describe the noise other than a static sound of sorts. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any solutions??? I feel desperate at this point and pissed that I was sold a computer at Best Buy with this issue.. I want to throw this laptop at a wall sometimes!

Just got this machine.  Didn't really want most of the Windows 8 bundled software but I thought I would try a few things that looked fun. Decided to try the voice command software, Dragon Assistant.  The program  seemed to install, and the sound test was good but when I attempted the  voice training my whole system crashed.  When I rebooted and somehow returned to Dragon Assistant (though the metro tile didn't lauch the program)....I performed the sound check again and this time my speakers were not functioning.  Luckily, after uninstalling Dragon Assistant, my speakers came back.   I also find that the touch screen is not always responsive.   I am not a techy at all and really struggle to fix any issues.  Really upset that very 1st application I tried didn't work. Also the screen flickers often.  I want a stable relieable machine that works with little effort.  Are these IdeaPad Yoga machines tried and true or is this a company with big hype and good gimick (multimode)  but with little real substance.  Did I buy the wrong product?

Yoga 13 Bad Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ? almost giving up (and giving back) I have purchased the Yoga 13 a week ago, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, I experienced problems to connect to the public Wi-Fi. I get  5 seconds of Wi-Fi connected, and then 5 seconds of "limited connection", and again "connected" for 5 sec., "limited" for 5 sec., and so on. I convinced myself it was because of the large number of people connected at the place I have been at. But now I am sitting here, with just a few people, and it seems they are all connected well, and only I get the 5 seconds cycle.  But it wasn't for this issue that I started to feel frustrated with my 1 week old Lenovo Yoga. It's the Bluetooth issue that really bothers me. I am trying to use Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000 mouse. I have to use it, since I have to use both USBs for other devices. At first it worked fine. Just the random disconnections everyone on the net are talking about. I tried everything: I set the power management of the realtek  rtl8723A chip so it won't be able to turn off the BT. I also set the BT to automatically search for devices under services.msc management, which supposed to help reconnection after sleep. Each time it seemed like the problem was solved, until the next time it randomly disconnected. So I have updated my machine. First, I've updated the BIOS from CN52 to CN55. I don't know if it's relevant, but I mention it anyway. Them I've updated the realtek drivers, according to th... Read more

Whatever I do, I can't seem to get bluetooth working on my Y2P.  I installed the latest ones from Lenovo's site, I tried using the generic drivers, I tried getting the latest ones from Intel... still no luck. If I use the generic ones, I get a code 43 error in Device Manager.  If I try Lenovo's or Intel's it starts the device fine but Windows itself doesn't even think I have a bluetooth device. What is going on?

Hello,I have had a Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) for over a year now.  A couple months ago I purchased a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse. Ever since I've been in a bluetooth twilight zone of bizarre behavior.  It will work and then cut out.  Some times it will be recognized but not work at all.  Other times it will be recognized and not pair properly.  I've combed through the forums and have tried:- Switch the settings to prevent the computer from shutting off the device due to power management (this did help but did not solve all of the problems).- Upgraded to the newest Lenovo driver on the Lenovo website (installed but refused to recognize any bluetooth device).- Uninstalled and upgraded to the newest driver on the Intel website (crashed when trying to install)- Uninstalled and reversed back to original Lenovo driver on D drive.- I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wifi driver.  The first time this worked... the second time nothing. So where am I now?   All of the devices show up fine in the Device Manager.  The mouse is discoverable but won't pair. And I guess I'm out of ideas as to what to try next.  From reading the forums I guess it seems like I'm not the only one suffering from bluetooth issues with the Yoga 2 Pro.  But thought that I might as well post to see if perhaps there is someone out there who has an idea that I haven't already tried. Or perhaps someone from Lenovo could reply... X1 Yoga running Win 7 x64 In Device Manager, a Generic Bluetooth Adapter device comes up with the typical yellow exclamation point. "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The event log has a bunch of entries with event ID 17:The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded. When I re-install the BT drivers, the correct two devices show up in Device Manager and the Bluetooth icon shows up in the taskbar. The WiFi goes into a bad state if I stream audio via BlueTooth.  By going bad,  means I can't seem to ping anything on my local network including the gateway, but everything else seems OK (routes, IP adressed , etc).  The BlueTooth keeps functioning.  If I reconnect the Wifi, it works for a few seconds before going down again.  Something is wrong, but I can't figure out what.

Hi, Since today I'm unable to enable/disable plane mode on windows 8 (it looks like plane mode is enabled but the visual switch automatically returns to it's default position). As a consequence, wifi is disabled and I'm unable to move the wifi switch button to the enable state (state is set to inactive). I had to use the "Diagnose and repare" button from the network panel to re-enable the WiFi. After some investigations, I finally found that is issue is caused by the bluetooth that cannot be disabled when my Yoga is associated with my Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard. As this issue totally breaks the "plane mode", If someone has a solution (or maybe an explanation) to allow bluetooth disabling other than removing bluetooth link with this device, I'm really interested.

About 2 weeks ago my USB 3.0 port stopped working, after reading the comments on the interenet i presume this is from the Windows 8.1 update. I tried at first to sort it out myself by trying to uninstall and reinstall the port, I updated by BIOS, went through all the Device Manager and BIOS setup options to make sure it was working, and double checked windows updates. I am not particulary tech savvy but I thought this could not be too hard, as I it still lights up my external hardrive, it just does not detect it. So I know it is not physical damage.I then contacted Lenovo support who told me quite a few people were having this issue and that all I needed to do was download the updated Chipset and Intel Management Driver software. Clearly this guy had not heard of automatic updates and low and behold it did not work. I then rang back and the next guy was so inaudible due to his accent that I literally could not be bothered to ask him to repeat evey sentence, which was the first 5 minutes of our conversation. In my device manager I have an unknown device called USB Root Hub (xHCI), when I try to update the driver it says it cannot find any suitable match. I know this hub is the one to detect USB drives, so I don't understand why it will not find a driver.Around the same time I also noticed that my Bluetooth does not work properly! So I have attempted to sort this out as well. I  installed the latest Bluetooth driver from the Lenovo website and then "wallah" my Bluetoo... Read more

So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues? Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

I just bought a lifechat Lx-2000 and accidentally plugged in the jacks into the back of the computer while unplugging the speaker chord. I realized my mistake and plugged in the chord again and plugged in the 2 jacks for the headset in the front. However, after that, sound no longer came through my speakers or through the headset. I have windows 7 and when i check the sound in the system tray it displays the speakers/headphones as receiving sound (or whatever the bouncing green bar means). How can i fix my speakers so that they receive sound from my computer again.

Note that I've already restarted a few times as well as reinstalled the original sound driver and tried all the troubleshooters. The chord is plugged into the same jack as before. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the wires inside were disconnected when i unplugged it...

Anyway, the first thing to check (after cables) is the mixer settings. Right click the speaker icon below right. There you can see if anything is muted.

Hey everyone,

Whenever I plug headphones into my laptop, they show up as Speaker/HP in Control Panel. Even without headphones connected, they show up as one (Speaker/HP).

These headphones are plugged via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

BUT, whenever I plug my Logitech G35 7.1 Headset in, it shows up as G35, as that is powered via USB.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Answer:Headphones show up as Speaker/HP

it is how the driver labels your inputs and it just means that when you plug in your headphones it stops output to the speakers, your headset is its own as its usb and its own device. hope this makes sense to you. are you having trouble muting the speakers when the headphones are plugged in?

It seems to have a SoundMax Digital Audio device (or drivers anyway) when I look at the "Sounds and Audio Devices" section of Control Panel. It also has all sounds turned up/note muted etc. Headphones do not work although a microphone does seem to register sound in. Any ideas? Thanks Pete

Answer:No sound at all from X41 speaker or headphones

Sorted, the mute key still mutes even when all the items on the screen show that nothing is muted!

Windows Vista.
some time ago we put in a usb webcam with a jack for built in microphone. I accidentally pulled the jack for the speakers and when i replaced the jack a box came up asking what we had plugged in i pressed side speakers and ok but the speakers would not work. We tried headphones in the front green jack and they worked so put the speakers jack in there too clicked the corresponding side speakers and clicked ok and they worked. The wouldn't work at the back. Yesterday I removed the speakers jack to put the headphones in and the same thing has now happened neither speakers or headphone worked.
I have made sure all drivers are up to date, have checked all volume levels etc and plugs. Have turned computer off and on and with jacks in, prior to turning on..
The fact that it was all working one minute and not the next and that it's happened before, is really confusing any ideas?

Answer:No speaker or headphones sound

Have you tried System Restore? Its basically designed for this type of issue

If that doesn't work I'd suggest uninstalling all your sound driver/program, and restarting, then install the most up to date driver again

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way I can make sound come out of a set of headphones AND my default speakers? The reason I want to do this is so that when I'm working on mixing and mastering music, I can use my studio heaphones and my buddies can still hear the sound while it's playing. Thanks!

I have a Packard bell laptop with a headphone and microphone plugin on the left. For a while now, when I plug in my headphones, sound still comes out of the speaker.
Theres a picture of what my sound looks like with headphones plugged in.

Answer:Sound still comes out of speaker when headphones are plugged in

Check to see if you have a RealTek "HD Audio Manager" panel (mine is located in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound). There is an option, in most, to have the speakers mute or not mute when a headset is plugged in.

I recently bought some headphones and I have noticed that windows recognizes my current speakers and my new headphones as one output (in playback devices menu). This is a problem as I want to be able to switch between these devices freely using a Hot Key of some sorts.
Both devices are being displayed as a single Realtek HD audio 'Speaker'.

Playback device menu currently:
Gyazo - 4c4ed4a9f6bb7049e12e0c154e101698.png

Proof that both devices are plugged in:
Gyazo - 7bb0c3cffdc5fd3086be87bc49440f1c.png

I've been trying to use 'SoundSwitch' to assign a Hot Key to switch between these devices, but it is not possible as it requires both of them to be displayed in the Playback menu.

Is there any solution to this?

Answer:Headphones and speaker recognized as only one device

I have RealTek on both of my desktops (one is an ASUS Z77 motherboard and the other is an ASRock Z77 motherboard). I just tried plugging a headset into the front panel headphone jack on each one. I get a message that a device has been plugged in, but neither show the headphone as a separate playback device. Just the "Speakers".

I'm using the latest RealTek driver, direct from RealTek, for both systems.

THE QUESTION:
- How do I mute the laptop speakers while still getting sound out of my headphones? So even if I pull my headphones out, still no sound comes out of the speakers.

FOLLOW UP:
- As a laptop user, you know that most of the time we work in quite areas such as libraries or night flights. When you accidently pull the headphones jack out, your music blasts causing a lot of unnecessary disturbance.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:
Dell Inspiron 5150, Windows XP, SigmaTel Audio C-Major.

IS IT POSSIBLE:
- YES. It was for the past 3 years until a few days a go. I say this because I used to achieve this by checking the 1 PC spk Mute checkbox under ADVANCED in the Volume Control panel. I recently had to reinstall the SigmaTel driver and now when I check the 1 PC spk Mute checkbox, It mutes EVERYTHING including the headphones.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
- Rolling back SigmaTel driver: not possible since the original was uninstalled.
- Installing the SigmaTel driver from the dell website
- Installing the SigmaTel driver from the drivers CD
- Searching the net. Most results suggested checking the PC spk Mute checkbox, but as mentioned earlier, now it mutes my headphones as well.
Any suggestions are welcome and very much appreciated. Thank you.

...for SELECT programs? For example, I like to game with headphones on, I listen to music with headphones on and more. I don't like to unplug them every time I'm done, that's too confusing and more importantly, I FORGET ALL THE TIME. So, if anyone could kindly help me find a way to play my "Free Alarm Clock" (please Google to find it because I'm afraid to post links) through the speakers despite having headphones plugged in, I would greatly appreciate it. I use it not only to wake up but also to remind me of other daily things.

Just to be clear: I'm not looking for something to play sound through headphones and speakers simultaneously. That would defeat the purpose.

Thanks in advance!

PS
A command would also work, I believe.

Answer:How do you enable speaker output while headphones are on?

Hey mate,

Don't be afraid to post links, just make sure they aren't walware lol.h
When your headphones are plugged in, do they show up in sounds?:

If so, that is a good way to switch it. If not, see if you can't find out more about sounds with your sounds control center. I think you only get such a thing if you have a sound card. Some built-in ones come with such a control center. Take a peek in there to see what you can find.

Hi!

First time poster here looking for a bit of help. I want to pipe separate audio through my front jack which I use for headphones and back jack which I use for speakers. I have an on-board Realtek ALC888/1200 (according to everest). What I want is this:
http://www.sevenforums.com/attachmen...ts-fix-ado.jpg
Right now on my computer I have one option, speakers which encompass all the back jacks and the front audio jack. While under recording I do have separate mics. How can I separate the front jack into it's own option?

I'm using win7 home premium and I'm not sure if anything else is important, ask away if it is!

Thanks ,

Answer:How to Get Seperate Headphones & Speaker Settings

When you plug in your headphones you get a settings dialog right? You should be able to set things through that and have it not effect the speakers. If not, try to download the latest Realtek drivers, that might give you an option.

Hi there, I have a strange problem with my laptop. Details are as follows:
HP NX9110 - standard specs, Windows XP SP2

The other day I was watching a vid using media player I think and the speakers were working fine. I then opened Nero 8s Soundtrack and notised that the speaker were not working. Tried media player again and still not working. Numerous reboots, removing Nero 8, reinstalling sound drivers had no effect. Notised that the headphones still work fine.

I also have a linux boot disk and the speakers work fine under linux (this points to something software related in windows).
Turned the laptop off for about a day and started back up.....speakers working fine again.

They have stoped twice since (have used Nero a few times but cant find a pattern). They did stop at one stage for an hour or so then just randomly start back up when I was having a look through processes in task manager......dont think it was due to ending one but it could have been.

The whole time the headphones work fine.

The speakers have now stoped again and I cant seem to get them working again.

Any ideas? This really has me stumped and I dont really want to reinstall windows. Is it possible that some process has picked up the speakers and not released them?

Answer:Laptop speaker not working, headphones do.

Bump.
Anyone got any ideas? Or know of somewhere I can ask this question?

Hi everyone,
Sound is only coming out of my left speaker, the secondary speaker (the one without hte volume button, headphone slots etc.) Wiggling the cable used to make it work again but now it just doesn't work at all it seems. Is there anything I can do about it?
My speakers are Logitech Z323

Try making and un-making the connection and even a little blast of compressed air to try cleaning the receptacle. Does the other channel come on when you wiggle the plug?

the speakers on my alienware 18 are not working only sound im getting is through the headphones. I tried re installing the audio driver also it did not work.
and when i open the playback devices it shows sounds are coming out of speakers whether i got my headphones plugged or not

Answer:Alienware 18 speaker not working only headphones

Hello. You can test the speakers by performing the Quick Audio Check in the ePSA test. If the speakers fail the test then they have failed or become disconnected.
If the speakers pass the test, then test the audio driver by switching between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
If the speakers work correctly with the native driver, then the Realtek driver is buggy. If the speakers do not work with either driver, then it is not a driver issue. It could be that the sensing mechanism in the headphone jack has failed, making Windows think that there is a plug in the jack when there is not. More details in the Headphone Jac... Read more

Hello,
I have an ultrabook i5 ASUS that runs on windows 8
I don't have alot of knowledge in computers, but I've been trying to figure out what was wrong
When I plug in my earphones, the popup checking if I am using earphones don't pop up anymore, and the sound does not come out of the eaphones but the computer.
Speakers work perfectly fine.
Sounds are on.
I have checked multiple earphones and tried them on other computers; the earphones do not have a problem.
I have went to the setting- change system sound- playback and only speakers is listed on the list.
If I switch to the 'recording' tab, Microphone and Stereo Mix are listed.
I have tried 'find and fix audio problems' troubleshooting, but nothing came up.

Any help would be welcome! Thank you!

Answer:Ear/headphones notworking, speaker fine.

How far back did this problem start happening? Is it recent or a while ago? if its pretty recent; i would try to do a system restore; and go back to the date before this problem started happening. click start, programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore. Pick a date before this issue started happening. If this does not fix the issue; then i would suggest uninstalling the sound card/device completely, reboot, then let windows re-detect the device and reinstall the drivers for it. You may have to find the utilities disk(s) for that computer and find the one that has the audio drivers on it and use that to reinstall the device and software. Try one or both of these things out and report back.

Okay I may be posting in the wrong subject but this is sort of a split issue. I'm currently running dual monitors using my monitor and also running my TV via an HDMI. The problem I'm having isn't with dual monitors but with the sound between them.

What would be ideal is that when I'm running a game or whatever on my monitor and then maybe streaming a youtube, movie, ect... on my second monitor (the TV), I'd like the game's sound to come from my computer headphones and the video sound to come from my TV. To this point I haven't found a way to make that happen. All that I know to do is go to control panel and set the default sound device to either my TV or my speakers. There's no option to split the sound between the two. So right now if I'm doing separate tasks on two different monitors, all of the sound is either from my speakers or from the TV. I know most dual monitors set ups are run with two actual monitors side by side so this isn't an issue, because of this I can't imagine this is a common issue. plus i know that some games give me the option to do just that but most do not.

So my goal is to have the sound from any task running on my monitor to come out of my headphones. At the same time, any task that is running off of my TV should have its sound running through my TV. Any ideas?

Answer:How can I separate my tv speaker and headphones sound?

Ps. i am running windows 10

Thank for taking your time to read my situation.

This problem occurred to me yesterday when I purchased a new headset for my PC. When I got back home and tried to headset out it worked perfectly fine however later that day, when I tried to fix the wiring that was tangled up by taking out the headset from the jack, I plugged them back in only to see a the speakers option at the bottom right hand corner saying that "No speakers or headphones are plugged in". At this time I went and got my old headset and plugged that in however the same problem occurred.

I have looked at many ways to fix this problem however none work for me. Any solutions or advice would be very helpful!

I am running Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Answer:The Speaker, Headset or Headphones is unplugged.

Some System Specs would help. Please fill in the "My System Specs". Without that we are guessing (e.g. is this a desktop or laptop?). Is the headset a USB connected or analog that connects to the headphone jack?

At work I have an HP DC7600 which is exactly one year old and it comes with an onboard speaker. I use this computer for CBT (computer based training) and I can hear the lessons through the mono speaker from inside the case and it's not real loud, but loud enough in a quiet room. The problem I have is when other people in he same small room use nearby comuters for their CBT and everybody can hear everybody else's audio from different lessons. Makes it a bit hard to concentrate. So off to the store we went and got a bunch of USB and regular headphones so that we could do CBT without bothering the neighbors. But when we plug in the headphone what happens is both the internal speaker emits sound as well as the headphones. I would have thought that the internal speaker would know that we plugged a headphone in and would automatically shut off. Is this commonplace or is there something I can configure to get the internal speaker to shut down when I plug a headphone in?

Answer:Sound through speaker and headphones at the same time

Normally pushing the headphones all the way into the headphone jack will stop any other speaker from emitting sound

I suspect your new Headphones are USB

got a bunch of USB and regular headphonesClick to expand...

Do both the regular and USB Headphones do the same thing?

If so, go to Control Panel-->Sounds...-->Audio tab
And confirm your default audio playback, and tick only use preferred devices

You may also have a Sound/Audio start menu (program) group
Just search the list
There can be adjustments made in this too (just to be confusing!)

Audio won't work with external speaker or headphones

I have this exact same problem! Did you find any solution?

So since I installed Ubuntu in dual boot with Windows 7, the sound is not working at all (while everything is fined under my Linux boot).

In the device manager I have the yellow triangle sign for the sound devices indicating they are not working. The troushooter can't solve it. Update does not solve the problem.
I tried installing Realtek, no luck, same problem.
I uninstalled/re-installed every sound drivers, still nothing.

I went to have a look in the BIOS, and the integrated audio was enabled.

(I am under Windows 7 Pro, my computer is a Dell Latitude E5570, Intel Core i7)

If anyone have a idea of what I could do....

Thanks!

Answer:Audio won't work with external speaker or headphones

Hello and welcome McMortigan now not wanting to sound pedantic mate but in general we like to have members post their own threads.

I know it is very tempting to ask when you see stuff related to a problem you have but it does tend to confuse and throw the original thread off track.

However a the other poster has not replied I am curious as to what OS that machine came with because it seems to be a recent model.

Now as always the Dell site is quite convoluted - at least out here as I would say update the audio drivers but cannot give you a link.

If you go with this then we shall know just what audio device you have in that machine
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/- (minimum - correct - maximum)
12v1 = 11.4 - 12 - 12.6v
12v2 = 11.4 - 12- 12.6v
5v = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3 – 3.465v

This is on my friend's Toshiba laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, and the Dell headphones used to work (they are not currently detected by Windows). The same headphones work fine on my desktop computer. I don't have access to his laptop except when at the library, where his WiFi signal is poor. I'm writing this at home after verifying the headphones work on my computer. This problem seems to be fixable, I am hoping. Thanks.

Answer:Headphones not detected, internal speaker works

Hard to troubleshoot. As a guess, I would suspect a problem with the headphone jack or the internal wiring as many I/O jacks are on a small circuit board that is connected to the main motherboard.

I re-installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my Lenovo Thinkcentre M57, but since then, the internal speaker remains silent(but headphones work). I tried to install various drivers on lenovo webpage and elsewhere (AC'97, etc...), without result. Before this re-installation, internal speaker was working normally.

The title explains it all. I've built myself a new computer and when i connect my speaker to the back or front of the tower it says it's unplugged. I've downloaded the latest Realtek audio drivers and have no other ideas on what to do.

Help?

Answer:New computer build - No speaker or headphones were plugged in

What type of speakers, 2.0, 5.1 ? Assuming you mean plug the headphones into the front ? Sure connected wires from the case to the motherboard correctly for front audio.

Dear HP Community, I'm facing an issue and so far I did not find a solution for my all-in-one computer. The speaker works, however, the headphones aren't working. It used to work perfectly, but now the signal sent to the headphones is very low while speakers are working like the headphone were not plugged. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Regards,Thomas

A couple of days ago, I decided to move my tower from my desk to the floor. Everything was working beautifully up until then. I opened it up and removed some dust. After putting it back together, the monitor wouldn't register anything. I left it for a day, came back, and the monitor magically worked again. The wifi card stopped working, but importantly, the sound was working. After leaving it for a night, I came back, reseated the wifi card, and magically, the card worked again. But now, the sound won't work! It's been several days, and this is the situation:

* The sound is not muted. When I press the speaker icon in the tray, the green volume bar moves up and down, as though sound is playing

* If I troubleshoot the 'playing audio', it says that no peripherals are plugged in. I found that if I went into Realtek HD Audio Manager and disabled 'front panel jack detection' in the connection settings, the computer suddenly apparently realises that I do have speakers connected, and when I troubleshoot audio again, it doesn't find any errors. I have to do this every time I restart, but the sound still doesn't work.

* I've downloaded and reinstalled the Realtek HD Codecs twice.

* In Device Manager, it recognises the integrated sound card:

(the PCI Simple Communications Controller device is Intel Management Engine Interface)
* I've disabled and enabled the devices many times, but no dice.

* I've reinstalled the chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer

* I've gon... Read more

Answer:No sound from speaker/headphones, can't find any errors.

I see you have both High Definition Audio Device and RealTek listed in the Sound Video and Game Controllers. In most cases the High Definition Audio Device is a Windows installed generic sound driver. Since you have RealTek, you do not need this and it can conflict. Uninstall the HD Audio Device (in the Device Manager), restart the PC and see what happens.

Also, double check the motherboard connection for the front panel audio. Although you have "unplugged and re-plugged" wires, check it again. The other possibility with the front panel. Try disconnecting the front panel headset/mic connection at the motherboard and see what happens (not disable it in the RealTek HD Manager).

Hello everyone,

My motherboard is Asus M4N68-T-M V2 with VIA HD Audio as the sound.

The problem: I'm using a headphone but when it is plugged it, both windows7 and via hd audio deck recognize the device only as a Speaker instead of Headphone. I've tried uninstalling sound driver as well as VIA HD audio deck but still it doesn't work.

If I set Headphones as the default device, there's no sound. There is sound on my headphone as long Speaker mode is set as default device instead.

Btw my headphone is plugged at the back, when I plug it in the front it doesn't work presumably the jack at the front has spoilt but this didn't quite matter since I was using the back jack in the past with no problem and the mode used to be Headphones but now it's Speaker mode. I've also tried inserting in my iphone's earphone instead and it is still Speaker mode

Here's more information:

Hope you guys can help me out!

Answer:Speaker mode (unable to change to Headphones)

You have to generally use the front panel connections to get that identification.

Since you are plugging it into the back panel the system basically assumes it's speakers. It can't actually tell the difference based on the plug... it's not a usb device that communicates with the system. So all the system has to go on is where it's being plugged in.

Does your system have front panel audio hook ups?

Hi

I'm having troubles with the sound in my laptop since a few months. At first I thought it would go away with updating drivers, making some system restore solutions or changing to high definition audio device drivers from Win 7 yet I cannot find the solution to this problem and today is getting worse. Right now I cannot get any kind of sound from the right side whether headphones or external speakers. Also my sound goes away after 15-30 seconds of being active from the laptop speakers. I checked the forums and blogs about this problem, but still not finding a good solution to me.

My model is:

*Satellite L750-1VW*
*Code : PSK1WE-0U500ECE*

I checked on other systems the headphones and the external speakers. So my guess is the jack has the problem or I don't know. Yesterday I remember getting a windows update download and then from there my sound started to have the static on right side of the speakers and headphones.

*First problem*: No sound after 15-30 secs of being active while watching videos (vlc, wma, youtube, etc)
*Second problem* (recent): static, crackling noise, from right side of external speakers or headphones

Any solution to this?

I bought this laptop last year around May or April, cannot remember the exact month. Thank you.

Sorry my bad english.

Answer:Satellite L750 - No sound on right speaker or headphones - Static

In my opinion your options are very limited and all you have done until now is right. You can check software settings, test it with ?factory settings or use preinstalled PC diagnostic tool.
Have you used this tool? There will be checked wave sound on both speakers. If not do it.

Anyway, I don't want to speculate but somehow I think there is hardware problem and I think you should contact nearest authorized Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They use special software for hardware test and can say for sure what the problem is.
Is warranty still valid?

This is a continuation of the following thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=123668#123668

It describes a problem of static/hissing noise from the speakers when headphones are attached.

I thought I had the solution (uninstalling the "Realtek High Definition Audio" driver). So did the original poster as the thread's been closed.

Unfortunately, I just discovered that removing this driver causes an unwanted side-effect.

It causes an error in "Toshiba HD DVD Player", as described here:
http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do;jsessionid=C548FC04AECFDDE676DFA3AD7886C 9D2?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1664788xml &sliceId=&dialogID=21014362&stateId=0%200%20265249 75

So, this is still an unsolved problem. Anyone got any other ideas?

Answer:Satellite P200 speaker problem when headphones attached

Hi dude

Another user in the first thread said this:

+Another way to sidestep the problem and keep the Realtek drivers is to purchase a USB headset.+
+I have found with my Logitech USB headset I don't get the hiss.+

Maybe you should try such headset.

At the other hand I would try to use the Realtek sound driver directly from the Realtek page.

Why there is no possibility to control the headphones volume separately? I risk my ears (seriously) every time I use headphones, because of the low speakers efficiency...

Any suggestion ?

Answer:Satellite L50-A-1CU - no separate volume sliders for headphones and speaker

To be honest I don't understand your problem. You can control volume level using F9 and F10 keys or using Windows volume mixer.

Reduce volume level before you connect headphones and speaker and I hope there will no be any risk for your ears. ;)

I updated to win 10 after the last windows 7 updates were installed; they changed the file explorer completely and wouldn't let me change them back. Any way, I now have no speaker, only headphones. Also, windows 10 doesn't seem to recognize my ESET virus scan prog. Although ESET seems to be working fine. Confused

Hi, I've installed a new Windows XP including SP3 (don't use the recovery discs). I've also installed all necessary drivers from the levonvo support page (no unknown devices left in device manager). The problem now is, I can't hear a sound from the integrated speakers (no, they are not muted). I can hear a sound if I plug in headphones. If I unplug them it doesn't switch back to internal speakers. How can I fix this?I also checked the FAQ and tried all hints without any success.

Answer:T500 no sound from internal speaker (but Headphones work)

try this. control panel > sound & audio devices > audio >  advanced > performance > restore defaults

I have an XPS 8500. A while back I added a sound blaster sound card. All of a sudden my sound is gone and it says "no speakers or headphones plugged" in when I mouse over the speaker icon in the tray.
Thinking my sound card went bad I removed it and even did a full system restore. I still have the red x and no sound. Looked for the on board sound in the bios thinking it needed to be activated but, do not see it anywhere.  Have speakers plugged into onboard sound card jacks and also plugged headset into jacks at top of tower.
AMD high definition audio device is listed as working properly in the device manager. I even tried uninstalling it and rebooting. It came back in device manager but, still no sound.
Tried downloading driver from dell. Installation failed because new driver is same as driver already installed. (read log)
