Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

Question: Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was https://tinkertry.com/wol-over-usb3 where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Preferred Solution: Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction being prepared? Thanks

Hi all, I have a recently purchased Thinkpad Yoga, and I want to change the hotkey / function key settings. I.e I want to toggle it so that pressing the top row of keys alone acts as a normal "legacy" function key, and holding down Fn and the key triggers the hotkey functionality (dim brightness, etc.). On my old Yoga 13 (1st gen ideapad), on work Thinkpads, and on other non-lenovo laptops I've owned this has been accesssible under the BIOS config. However, on the new Thinkpad Yoga, I cannot find this option. I have updated the bios to the latest version accessible on this site by downloading the bios update utility ( http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds038334 ) Please can someone advise how this can be done.  Thank you!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga S1 - Hotkey option missing from BIOS

So, after unsuccesfully trying to log a ticket in the (awful) IBM portal, I gave the helpline a call. 50 minutes (!) on the phone resulted in a Case number and an adminission from the second level technician that this is an issue. There is no option in the BIOS for the Thinkpad Yoga, and there is in all the other Lenovo Laptops. He didn't actually state that it would be resolved (nor gave a timeline for when (or whether) this would be looked at), but at least I made a small amount of progress. I'm quite curious as to whether I can get a BIOS update out of Lenovo to fix this problem, so I'm going to keep pushing this whenever I get a chance. In the meantime, does anyone know of a third party app or registry hack that allows re-mapping of these keys?

I purchased this computer last year and it has been this way since I got it, but I finally wanna try to figure out what is going on.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro (1370) with a Samsung 840 Evo SSD installed. It is running Windows 10.

From cold boot, it takes anywhere from 4-10 minutes to boot. Almost all of this time is spent with the Lenovo "boot splash screen" and the Windows 10 loading circle spinning. About 10 seconds before everything "boots" to my Windows log in, the screen flickers black. I know once it does this I have about 10 seconds to go.

I assumed there was something wrong with my Windows install, so two days ago I backed everything up and did a fresh Windows 10 Home install... I thought that would do it, but nope, still happening.

I attempted a BIOS update and a BIOS downgrade (a6cn58ww and a6cn56ww) and neither changed anything. I fiddled around with various BIOS settings too and nothing changed.

Is this an SSD problem? Or something else? My desktop has a similar SSD and it boots in about 12 seconds.

I installed Windows 8.1 pro due to the need of domain, I also downloaded and installed all Lenovo software as well as drivers. I am also using Classic Shell to get a "normal" start menu. Issue 1: Keyboard disables when not in laptop mode, touchpad is allways enabled. How do I disable touchpad in tent, stand tablet mode? Issue 2: Soft keyboard shows up in Microsoft software, however it does not show up when typing in other software, Firefox, Lightroom etc. Is there a way to make this work? Issue 3: In full resolution Windows scale bad, as several computers now delivers with this high resolution and 4K monitors will be more common, is there a fix from Microsoft to get normal scaling? Ie. menues are very small making it hard to hit the correct button on touchscreen.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro: deactivating pad in yoga modes, soft keyboard in non-microsoft sw, scaling Windows?

I, too, have the soft keyboard issue. If I'm already editing some text and switch modes, the keyboard shows. If I move to tent/tablet mode and try to edit - no keyboard!!! The is an On-Screen Keyboard app but it fills the entire screen. Useless. Surely there is an answer to this problem?

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

The Yoga 3 Pro severely pixelates when using google+ online photo editer Tune Image option on photo editing.  You cannot see the photo you are supposed to be tuning.  This problem does NOT occur with the Yoga 2 Pro where when you tune the image it does not pixelate and you can see what you are doing. I assume this is a setting problem with the Yoga 3.  Any feedback on how to adjust the settings to get that not to pixelate appreciated.

Hi,  I have a Thinkpad Yoga S1 which has served me well for a year or so.  Recently it has started to develop a problem where it "stalls" upon boot.  1. Laptop is powered off2. Press power button3. laptop keyboard lights up and fan begins spinning4. about 3 seconds later the entire system shuts down5. The process repeats Sometimes I can leave it in this cycle for 3+ minutes and it'll just keep cycling. If I close the screen it halts the cycle (shuts the computer down) and occassionally upon power up it'll cycle a couple of times and then boot into Windows. Here is a video of the symptom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THCn6yFuprY   When it has booted into Windows, I have taken the liberty of running a Lenovo Solution Centre hardware scan. Processor, Memory and Motherboard all came back good. However, when I tried to update the BIOS, the system returned an "Error-116 Failed to read BIOS from ROM" Further, "Error 116" is listed as an IBM System board read/write error.  Unfortunately my warranty ran out a couple of months ago, so I'm looking at a self fix, and don't have any appetite to pay 800 for a new main board (besides, the one in my laptop was a new one installed by IBM under a warranty repair 4 months ago! It shouldn't be broken).  Can anyone suggest any fixes?

On Friday I bought the 11.6'' Yoga 700 from Best Buy open box.  I think I got a great deal for $300. It has the Skylake Core m3, 128GB SSD, but only 4GB of RAM.   It was basically $100 more than some of the other 11.6 offerings with an Atom CPU and the slower eMMC hard drive.   I really wanted the new Macbook but for less than a third of the cost I'll take it. I may replace the 128GB SSD for a 256GB or a 512GB down the road.  The RAM is stuck at 4GB with no upgrades, correct? It has some abuse on the outer soft touch shell and a small crack by one of the screw holes on the back cover.I'd like to find out if I can order the orange front/back covers for it.  It's silver which isn't too bad and it's only cosmetic concerns.  I think that orange is sharp.  If I can't order them maybe I'll just cover it with stickers or try out some of that PlastiDip paint.

Lenovo's manual is very thorough.  I was able to answer my own question.  It's just a matter of finding out how much the parts cost.  Might as well order a second charger while I'm at it with the charger being a proprietary piece.  Apple got it right moving the Macbook charger a to Type C connection. FRU: LCD Cover C Yoga 3-1170 OrangeFRU no: 5CB0H15156 FRU: Lower Case C YogaFRU no: 5CB0H15175FRU: Chicony ADL40WCCP/N: 36200581

Hello Folks,After having received a new Yoga 3 14 yesterday I noticed that there were a lot of screen ghosting issues, especially when using high contrast apps or leaving apps on the screen. Even when the system is booting the afterimages are there and persistent, and continue to build on top of each other. I have already rolled back and updated the graphics card, updated the BIOs, installed the firmware update to fix ghost touches etc. but the afterimages of chrome and the taskbar and explorer windows remain, only leaving the computer off for several hours solves but I don't believe that to be a pragmatic solution. If anyone else has had this issue or has fixed it please comment!

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hello. I've recently purchased BOTH a Yoga 2 11" and the similar Yoga 11s. First I got the newer Yoga 2 11 with Pentium quadcore and then I was tempted to check out a refurbished 11S because I understood it had some great upgraded features and I could get it for just $100 more as a refurb. I immediately thought the 11S was superior in most respects. The case is solid, the finish amazing. It has full HDMI and even the SD slot is fully recessed (among many other details). I was stoked that it might have better performance as well. The 11s has the 4210Y I5 processor, and a 128GB SSD. The Yoga 2 11 has a Bay Trail Pentium processor and a 500 GB HD. Both have 4 GB RAM. The 11s is running Windows 8 (I resisted upgrading immediately to run some tests and check it out right away). The Yoga 2 11 came with Windows 8.1. In testing with Geekbench 3 for 64 bit windows I've found that the 11s tested almost exactly the same. This is disappointing although neither is slow at around 3300 points. I understood the 11s might reach into the mid 4000s or 5000 range. Is this only true of 11s Yogas with higher specs? Is there something potentially wrong here? I love the 11s color scheme, build, finish, full size hdmi, and the great keyboard - so I'm stoked on probably keeping it and returning the Yoga 2 11. But with a tiny 128 GB SSD (reads only about 60GB free by the way) and some possible lacklustre CPU performance from the i5 I'm having some doubts coming on. Thanks ... Read more

Where did you buy your 11S? Here in the US, the only place it is available with the Haswell CPU is Best Buy. Anyway, I have a Yoga 11s Haswell and I have no interest in the Yoga 2 11 because of the lack of SSD and the smaller battery. I don't understand why Lenovo would design a Baytrail Unit and throw away the main Baytrail advantage of lower power consumption by putting in a smaller capacity battery. I will be keeping my 11s Haswell. Jim

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hello,
I bought a Lenovo Y510, running Windows 10 a few months ago. The other day I was watching Netflix (probably not important) and the PC crashed. It briefly showed that blue screen that says ":( Something has gone wrong.." before switching off completely.
On switching it back on now, it shows the Lenovo screen with the buffering circle (occasionally says 'Preparing Automatic Repair', but not always). But, it never gets to the stage of loading Windows.
I've tried every key and possible combination and cannot access a bios or boot menu of any kind. Can anyone please suggest anything??
note: I have taken it into where i bought it. They are saying they cannot repair it as there is a tiny, tiny chip in the plastic at the front. Apparently this counts as 'physical damage' so they will only repair the software issue if I buy nearly £200 of casing...
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi there,    Recently I encountered a major problem with my laptop. The laptop suddenly went into diagnosing mode and repairing the hard drive screens but because the blue screen still popped up ( with the error message and an indication to restart) after numerous times,  I made the hasty decision decision to switch of the laptop via the power button.  After reswitching it on, the "Default hoot device missing" error came up and I am no longer able to boot windows.  I understand that this problem has been mentioned by other members before but they don't seem to have landed themselves in this problem the same way. I've tried some of the solutions listed but they have all failed. Really need some help urgently as I have some important files on the laptop that I need to access.  My windows liscence is STD, which I think is different from what other people who had this error has. Thanks!

Ok, the website has my mind blown. I really don't understand some of the differences between models. There is almost $1K difference between somewhat similar configs of the Yoga 900 and the X1 Carbon Yoga. Where is that difference? Looking at top end of both. 16GB/512 SSD/etc. What is the major difference between those lines of product? Also, the Compare feature just does not seem to work on any browser. Have tried many different machines. Just shows half a CO at the top right, and a black bar and nothing happens. Strange. Is the only difference between the Platinum and the Clementine Orange Edition of the 900, that the OS is Windows 10 Pro vs Home? There is a $30 dollar differerence between those OS's on competitive sites, so I'm just wondering if that is it for almost $150 difference? Or does the Platinum have a different case construction? Thanks!

My daughters Yoga 11S has thin horizontal line. She is in college.Should I panic?  Do I need to worry about full "black screen" crash?Missed warranty by 2 months. Disappointed anyone have ideas or suggestions?

Answer:Thin horizontal line on Yoga Ideapad Yoga llS

hi kbrunk,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.

Horizontal lines are commonly caused by an imminent failure on the LCD (either the LCD panel or the LCD cable) or the GPU. To identify which component is failing, the unit must be connected to an external display. If the display is fine then the culprit is the LCD cable, otherwise, it's the GPU (which is integrated to the CPU (CPU is soldered to the motherboard)).

In the event that the problem is with the LCD cable, you can opt to:
1. Contact lenovo for service
2. Have the machine serviced at a professional computer repair center (if they don't have the parts for the repair, you can purchase it online (like this item).

If it's not convenient to have the unit serviced at the moment (ie. need it for an upcomming exam, thesis, etc.), the computer can still be used if the horizontal line is still bearable but I recommend you get it serviced ASAP.

Regards

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I run Ubuntu dual boot Win 10 so the installer create a new boot option in Bios along side 'Windows Boot Loader', which is 'ubuntu'. I also install android x86 but by grub. Now I want to delete that boot item and backup original EFI boot data, but I cant find a way to boot to an EFI file from bios? I prefer Microsoft's nvrboot x to efibootmgr. so how?

Ever since upgrading the bios from 1.20, booting or rebooting my thinkpad yoga s1 results in a blank screen after initial post. I'm currently on the latest 1.26 bios for the thinkpad yoga and the latest firmware for the onelink pro as well this is similar to someone's post on here https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/E531-won-t-boot-when-connected-to-OneLi... Called lenovo support and they indicated to downgrade back to 1.17 but read the firmware and after install of latest firmware the lowest firmware I can downgrade to is 1.22 which I tried but it still hangs on boot if the onelink pro is connected during bootup. Anyone else getting this or have a fix? Lenovo, hope you read this and fix the bios, makes the whole point of the dock pretty pointless to me.

i have just recently bought my LENOVO YOGA 710 - FAST SSD from UKlincesed stores on my return home ( uganda) , but am very disappointed,
the machine failed to start on pressing the start button it just indicates black screen with the word below in blue
"default boot devise missing or boot  failed
insert recovery media and hit any key then select  boot manager to choose a new boot devise or to boot recovery media."

Am actually very disapointed as all the IT shops here claim that my computer has no hard disk drive that they cannot deal with SSD.
what can i do?

Answer:Yoga 710-14ISK - DEFAULT BOOT DEVISE MISSING OR BOOT failed

Hi phelly ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The IT guys may have also checked the BIOS if the SSD is being detected.
Usually reseating the M.2 SSD (page 36) from its location and placing it back assuring that contacts are ok can help as well as loading the BIOS defaults then restart.

If you would be having the same issue , I would suggest to call in technical support or have a representative in UK start a repair ticket for you and get their recommendation.

Update us how it best work for you.

Hi,

I have a Yoga 2 pro.

I recently formatted my drive and got rid of all partitions. The reinstalled windows 8.

Everything worked fine until I went to the bios and changed it from legacy support to uefi boot.

I now get this pop up when i boot up.
Default boot device missing or boot failed. Insert recovery media and hit any key. Then select 'boot manager' to choose a new boot device or boot recovery media.

I have no reccovery media.

I tried to restart the mchine while pressing F2 but I always get into the same screen.

If I press enter I then go from the pop up to the boot manager where the list is empty so i cannot boot any other drives since there are non to select.

I am not sure what else to do...

Please help.

Seb

Ridiculously frustrated, help needed. I have a shiny new Lenovo Yoga 510-ISK notebook. OS is Windows 10, obviously.  Been using it without issues for 4 days. Turned on last night and saw this:   After some research, I got a Windows 10 image file from Microsoft onto a USB stick, and tried to boot from USB, this is where the problems began. I can't seem to get the boot done from USB. Can anyone help on this?

Answer:Yoga 2 pro default boot device missing or boot failed

hi Richarddaou,

When you boot into the BIOS, is the SSD is detected in the Information tab?
 - Link to image

If it is then you may want to consider reloading the OS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button.
 - Link to image

Otherwise, if the SSD is not being detected anymore then this is a sign of an HDD failure and you need to contact lenovo (for service) or the place of purchase (if it's still possible to exchange the unit).

Let me know how it goes.

At any point in the future, is a new BIOS/UEFI firmware going to be released that unlocks the selection for "UEFI" on the boot mode? I have an operating system/bootloader that would be better served with the ability to switch to a legacy BIOS style mode as opposed to being locked into UEFI only. Consider this a formal request as well, to include a legacy boot mode in a future release. I know there's quite a few of us who would consider this a very useful change.

This is probably a really stupid question but what is the best way to transfer all my files and settings from the current Yoga 2 Pro (from Best Buy) I've been using for over a month to my new Yoga 2 Pro  that just arrived direct from Lenovo?  They are essentially identical computers so I figured moving things over should be a breeze.  Not so.  I tried "Windows Easy Transfer" but there is no option to back up a file on the original computer.  It seems that Windows completely disabled this capability in 8.1?  Sorry, I'm an old Apple guy and transferring files (from mac to mac) was such an easy thing.  With Windows 8.1 it's not an obvious thing.  Maybe I'm missing something?  Any help is much appreciated!

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Does this really mean that those Notebooks only work with the 5GHz band and  won't work with 2.4 GHz wlans? (=90% of all swiss wlans)? I almost can't belive this. ..

Answer:Yoga 3 Pro / Yoga 500 + 802.11ac WLAN Standard

I am not completely sure but about Yoga 3 14 I found this -

Networking Options: 802.11ac (2.4+5.0 GHz Dual-band)

Source - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0%2c2817%2c2482408%2c00.asp?tab=Specs

Also, if you are planning to buy this for gaming, I wouldn't recommend it. This is not a gaming laptop, generally ultrabooks aren't.

Hello,
I come from China. I ordered a refurbished machine for Yoga 13 on the Offical website on Feb 12,2014. I bought the Yoga Yoga 910-13IKB on the 12th and the demo in the store had the option to enable function keys in the bios instead of the hot keys. However the one I have does not have this option. I also can not find the BIOS which is installed on Lenvo's website. So I am hesitant to try to roll back a version. Currenly it is running 2JCN32WW and website only has 2JCN28WW.Is this option going to return or has it moved outside the bios config?

When I first got my Yoga 910, an icon would pop up every time I used a function key to turn the microphone on or off, to indicate whether I had just turned it on or turned it off. A similar icon would pop up for the touchpad function key and the camera function key. Recently, those icons have stopped popping up, but the function keys still work. I'd like to turn the pop ups back on, because I thought they were really helpful. Strangely, the "paper display" function key still shows the icon, and the volume and brightness keys still show the volume and brightness level bar. I've attached a screenshot of the "paper display" icon that pops up to make it clear what I'm talking about. Thanks!

Answer:Yoga 910 function key popups

Hi there, RobsterLobster -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

This could be a ?paper display" setting. It?s meant to help you read stuff (reducing eye strain) giving the display a yellowish, book page like tint.
You can try turn it on or off by pressing "Fn"+"Esc".

Update us how it goes.

That is, as in any normal computer keyboard where Esc is Esc, and F1 is F1, etc. If I set 'hot key' mode in bios then Esc is normal, but function keys act as hot keys.If I set 'function key' mode in bios then function keys are normal, but Esc is paper display toggle. I don't think it's too much to ask. Best regards.

I just received a Yoga 2 13, but even if I spent a lot of time evaluating reviews and specs I just realized the chassis is slightly different from the Yoga 2 Pro. This is something was barely talked in reviews (actually not all), and I thought the real difference was in the FHD vs 3200x1800 display. Apparently there's much more. The First thing I noticed is the different palmrest texture: grippy and almost leather-like on the Pro, and simple matte on the 13. Then I noticed a bit of flex in the base of my unit, and actually a little bend in the upper lid I managed to get straight with a bit of pressure. This is when I noticed the materials: under the same orange finish there's definitely an alloy (magnesium) on the lid, while the base is just plain plastic. After looking up a bit I found all the answers on two Myfixguide articles. To sum it up:-Pro has magnesium bottom plate with a reinforced magnesium metal chassis structure (grid-like)-Non-Pro has a plastic bottom plate and an ordinary plastic frame with very thin alloy reinforcement (typical of non-Ultrabook)-Pro has two smaller cooling fans, vs the single and bigger (and often noisy) on the non-Pro-the only storage option in the Pro is a mSATA mount, against the M.2 (SATA) mount plus a new 5mm 2,5" bay (with proprietary connector) on the Yoga 2 13, which is definitely the ultimate explanation for the added thickness-Pro has different speaker placement with "longer sound tubes", maybe leading to better bass as the... Answer:Yoga 2 Pro vs Yoga 2 13: the differences no one is talking about

I swapped my Yoga 2 13 for a Yoga 2 Pro as there is one more major difference. The Realtek and Atheros cards are alien in this class of laptops... The Intel 7260N card is a reasonable alternative, but most people expect dual band for this amount of money. The Y2P white list in the BIOS allows many more 7260AC cards to solve the wifi problem,as the white list of the Yoga 2 13 is restricted to only 1 Lenovo specific 7260AC card (20200617). This is due to the positioning of the antennas, these are closer to the user and SAR regulations enforce Lenovo to reduce the transmission power of the WLAN.    Another thing I really like the fact the Y2P fans are less noisy. The 3200*1800 resolution in Win8 is a miss, as the scaling fcuks up while using an additional external momitor.I'm still bound to 1600*900. Let's hope for WinX ..

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Keyboard on Yoga 13

I would liketo know the same thing. the Yoga 13 has a light on the caps lock key so there is potentially back light voltage. The key boards look identical. If they are interchangeable how would the Fn keyboard light switch be programmed? I love my Yoga. I just added an 8 gig Ram stick and a 240 GB hard drive. Keyboard replacement is a piece of cake with an eyephone glass repair tool kit.

New year, new Yogas. How does Lenovo?s Yoga 910 stack up against last year?s Yoga 900? Let?s find out.Hardware & Design The Yoga 910 looks very similar to the Yoga 900. They both have the same dimensions, which means that my sleeve for the Yoga 900 fits the Yoga 910 perfectly. The Yoga 910 is a bit heavier because of its all-metal unibody design. Last year?s Yoga 900 had a magnesium alloy casing, and a rubber-like material inside the chassis. With the Yoga 910, the entire chassis is metal. That gives it a more premium look and feel.  Even though the hinges on the Yoga 900 and Yoga 910 look nearly identical, the Yoga 910?s hinges are much more sturdier than the Yoga 900?s. This means that there?s less wobble when typing on the keyboard or touching the screen. Take a look at the difference:  There?s also the addition of a fingerprint reader, which is always great to have. It?s quick and responsive, and always recognized my fingerprint. PortsThis year?s Yoga 910 is focused mainly on USB C. There are two USB C ports, one USB A port, and a headphone/microphone jack combo. Last year?s Yoga 900 had two USB A ports, one USB C, SD card reader, and mini-HDMI. Because of the move to USB C, you?ll need a USB C to SD card reader or USB C to HDMI adapter if you?re looking for those functionalities.   DisplayThe Yoga 910?s display is larger, crispier, and brighter than last year?s display. Hi everyone, I had ordered a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (with Windows 8.1) in March 2015 and it was working fine for a few months until the screen started flickering like crazy, the autobrightness would turn on or flicker even when it was turned off, and the laptop wouldn't wake up when I opened the lid or pressed any key on the keyboard. I sent in my laptop and after 2 weeks, I got it back with the motherboard replaced. The issues still persisted. I contacted Lenovo and they have sent me a brand new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro-1370 80 HE a few days ago and I noticed that the power chord is SUPER short (is there an option to get a longer chord...). Regardless, most issues have gone away...but since this laptop is on Windows 10, I feel like there are still quite a few issues Lenovo needs to work out with Microsoft. For example, the mousetrack pad can't scroll with two fingers sometimes, the mouse just pauses sometimes and is frozen on the screen, and the worst is that I can't right-click on links! And the issue of it not being able to wake up unless I press the power button is the same. Is it bad for the laptop if I have to restart it each time? It does turn back on to where I left off last. Can anyone help me with the waking up issue? I've tried looking into the power settings, but I don't know what I need to change. Or if anyone has any suggestions about the other issues...let me know! Thanks!

Answer:Problems with Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and now Yoga 3 Pro

Mouse Freezes are usually when playing audio - this is due to a Realtek process FMAPP.exe
Search for it, rename it (FMAPPrename or anything), disable the active process (FMAPP) and your mouse should stop freezing.

Right click is a bit of a problem at the moment in windows 10, hoping Lenovo will release new drivers soon.

Could you pleae detail the wake up issue? Do you put it to sleep? How do you put it to sleep?
How do you try to wake it up?

Just curious, why is the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga I7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, FHD about $1,000 more than the similarly equipped commercial Lenovo 910?

Is it the ThinkPad brand name? The eraser nubbin? The 2 combined?

Just curious.

I've got a friend who needs a new laptop. She likes the touch/fold aspect of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Do you all think she would be happy with the commercial Yoga 910?

Any real reason to get the new plain FHD ThinkPad X1 Yoga instead of the similarly equipped commercial Yoga available at Best Buy besides spending an extra $1000 for the ThinkPad brand name?

I've owned 6 various ThinkPads since 2011 FWIW. I get it, they're cream of the crop. But I kinda got sticker shock when I just priced out a plain FHD (and we need nothing more) X1 Yoga. About  $2,800, wow!

Opinions and advice -- no spam please (thank you!) -- welcome.

Best to everyone...

Answer:Why is the ThinkPad X1 Yoga $1,000 more than a similar Yoga 910?

@Jelks, The biggest difference I see between the X1 Yoga (2nd) and the Yoga 910 is active pen support which seems to be missing from the 910. You could use a capacitive stylus, but expect fingertip resolution, not pinpoint, and no pressure-sensitivity. Fewer USB ports: no HDMI or MicroSD; no Thunderbolt. No TPM module, if you need to store encrypted creditials, e.g., for BitLocker. Not sure about battery life; they claim up to 9 hours of local video for the 910 vs. up to 15 of MobileMark for the X1. Not an apple-to-apple comparison. You're not going to get the (soon to be patched, at least for now) security hole that is Intel's vPro management tech. You may not get Windows 10 Pro, possibly just Home (but you could always give Microsoft the money to upgrade if you need BitLocker or Remote Access). You're not going to get all the "mil-spec" design and testing etc, but if it's a personal machine, you're probably going to avoid abusing it. As you suggest, the "wave" keyboard -- including the trackpoint "eraser nubbin" -- is definitely going to be more expensive on the ThinkPad than the plain Yoga keyboard. I used two generations of ThinkPads (T61p and W520), but about 3 years ago I switched to a Dell XPS 13. A year or so ago, I ordered a X1 Yoga 1st gen for my wife and she likes it very much, so I am pretty familiar with the design and capabilities. TLDR: I think most people would be happy with the 910 vs. X1 unless they want the active pen. Als... Good morning. I have some questions about Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga and Yoga pro 2. Actually I want to buy one of them, but still confuse. I have read from the forum that in Yoga 2 Pro have some problems in wireless. Did the Lenovo solved this problem or still it is the same? My second question about ThinkPad yoga 12.5. is it possible to use Lenovo motion technology at this Ultrabook? Or this technology only available in ideapad-s ?

I've had a Yoga 2 Pro for two and a half years. I recently overheated it. I replaced it with a Yoga 900. After six days the screen cracked (working with Best Buy now to get an exchange but hopes are slim...). In the likely event that BB does not cooperate, is it possible to take the screen out of my Yoga 2 Pro and use it to replace the screen in the Yoga 900? Thanks for any insights.

Lenovo Yoga 3 and Yoga 2 tech problems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq-aEktBfUs Yoga 3 Pro (BRAND NEW) has these problems:1. Screen freezes and jumps (See video). I put both my Yoga 2 (on left) and Yoga 3 (on right side by side, and stream the same video from the same site. Notice how the Yoga 3 (on right) jumps frames. This problem occurs regardless of the power configuration- Balanced, Performance Optimised, or Power Saver.2. Slow performance. freezes for a few seconds.before continuing3. Short battery life.4. Mouse sometimes disappears behind the window. Appears only above the taskbar.5. lmcfrundll.exe Run Problem. I have uninstalled the Harmony app that others on the Forum have advised against. Yoga 2 (6 months old) has these problems:1. Restarts suddenly by itself (sporadically)2. Blue screen of death. Unable to find boot device. See Pictures. I have also commented on this thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Yoga-Flex-Laptops-and/Yoga-3-Pro-lmcfrundll-exe-Run-Problem-how-to-fix/... This is so FRUSTRATING. I have been an IBM/LENOVO/THINKPAD user for years and I am seriously thinking of switching brands. I hope a responsible tech person from them watches this and contact me.

Answer:Yoga 3 and Yoga 2 Multiple problems!!

?My Post on the other thread: 03-23-2015 09:10 AMI bought the Yoga3 last Dec and started using since Mar. Same problem as everyone else. I thought a permanent fix would have been introduced by now. I have been following this thread for 2 weeks and still none.Worse yet, the performance of Y3 is bad. I could not watch videos without the video jumping and getting out of sync. I uninstalled the Harmony app. I 'upgraded' from Yoga 2. It is a much better PC IMO. Is it the new CoreM processor? I wonder if anyone here has that same performance problem. I have a video showing both Yoga2 and Yoga3 playing the same streaming video and you can see the jumps, but I don't know how to upload it here.Even when I do my usual office work, or changing between tabs or typing fast, sometimes there are lapses. It freezes for a moment before continuning. This never happened for my Y2.The reason why I changed is because I like that the hinges are stronger, with the 6 piano hinges. And my Y2 has ONE problem, it sometimes cannot find the boot device, perhaps because I upgraded the HD when I bought it, but it should be addressed in a different thread. This is extremely frustrating, since i have been a loyal support of the thinkpad series and this must be my 5th IBM/Lenono pc. And now I have 2 sub-par pcs. Both are expensive in comparison to other laptops. I do not expect these level of performances. Lenovo/Moderator, if you are reading this, please do something about the fixes and performances as... Read more

I need help comparing the Yoga 2 Pro and Yoga 13, but I don't mean to compare them by their specs.  Yes, I know Yoga 2 Pro has a better processor, is thinner and lighter, and has a QHD screen, but that's not what I'm looking for. What I want to discuss is not what you find in a typical review.  I want to discuss the issues that people seem to be having with these laptops.   I want to see what issues both of these laptops share and what they don't.  I currently have a Yoga 13, and I'm debating whether I should return it and get a Yoga 2 Pro, but if it has more issues than my Yoga 13, then I don't want to do it. Issues that I know of so far: Yoga 2 Pro  (I've never had this laptop so I'm only going off of what people have been complaining about) Yellow Color Issue (looks musturd / greenish)  (But is fixable, to a point)Wifi Dropping Flickering screen?(Are there more?  I don't know much about the Yoga 2 Pro) Yoga 13 (I've owned this for about 10 days) Weak Wifi  (An issue I have only sometimes)Loud Fan Noise / Fan always on  (Manageable with Notebook Fan Control program)Problems with streaming videos in anything other than laptop mode (My issue)Plugged in but not charging (another issue I ran into)Hinge becoming loose (Hasn't happened to me yet)(What else is there?)  So that's all I know of so far.  What other issues have people run into with these two laptops.  Which laptop's iss... Hey all. The thinkpad yoga is going to be rolling out by the end of next week. There are all a lot of ppl waiting for the yoga 2 pro to get restocked. Is it a good time to maybe reconsider getting the thinkpad yoga instead? Pros and cons?

Answer:ideapad yoga 2 pro or thinkpad yoga

I am looking at the Thinkpad Yoga as an alternative to the Yoga 2 Pro as well. Looks like there are quite a few pros and cons to each.

What are the differences, if any? Also, is there a Lenovo application that detects the installed drivers and prompts me to download newer versions if available? I can't seem to find anything similar to the Lenovo Updater that I had on my Y-50. Thanks

Answer:Difference between Yoga 900-13ISK and Yoga 900-13I...

Good day.

The major differences I see, looking at: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Yoga_900_13_inch are: the SK2 has Intel Iris HD 540 graphics, slightly different CPUs and PCIe SSDs.

Regarding driver updates, there's a feature in Lenovo Companion that assists with that.

Hope this helps clarify.
Regards.
