Yoga 3 14 WiFi and BlueTooth issues

Question: Yoga 3 14 WiFi and BlueTooth issues

The WiFi goes into a bad state if I stream audio via BlueTooth. By going bad, means I can't seem to ping anything on my local network including the gateway, but everything else seems OK (routes, IP adressed , etc). The BlueTooth keeps functioning. If I reconnect the Wifi, it works for a few seconds before going down again. Something is wrong, but I can't figure out what.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues? Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

I recently purchased a P40 Yoga and am happy with it, however I have problem with my Wifi + Bluetooth which I have not had before. I have always used Bluetooth and Wifi together with no problems. THE PROBLEM:When I turn on my Bluetooth, Wifi disconnects immediately. No networks are found anymore.  I have been using the same Wifi connection, so no changes there. I assume this is not an interference problem, because it has always worked great, so it must be a software problem. I also noticed that I have quite a weak connection although I'm close by the router What I have done:- Uninstalled Bluetooth and let windows reinstall- Reinstalled driver for Wifi- Install lastest driver for Wifi from Intel (19.20)- Checked router (channels [due to interference], proximity, etc.) What else could I do?

Today I discovered at a most inopportune time that having my Motorola bluetooth headphones connected to my Yoga 13 2 causes the WiFi to drop out. The WiFi still shows as connected in the charms bar but there is no connection (pages will not load). I have the most up-to-date drivers for both WiFi and Bluetooth. I spent a lot of time when I first got my Yoga a few months back searching the forums for fixes for the WiFi, and adjusted power settings and other things until I got a relatively stable WiFi connection (though not perfect).  Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to have to purchase another headset. Having the bluetooth work at the same time as the WiFi seems like a basic function that should work. Sigh.

When I'm listening to Pandora on the Yoga while running the audio out to bluetooth speakers, the audio stream stutters. There is no problem while listening to Pandora on the Yoga speakers. Same problem when I'm watching Recorded TV on Windows Media Center over wifi with the audio out to bluetooth speakers. No problem when listening on the Yoga speakers. It seems that when both wifi and bluetooth are active maybe there is RF interference? Anyone else experience this issue?

My IdeaPad Yoga 13 has a problem with playing music via bluetooth A2DP profile. Audio plays well and without hiccups when I'm not downloading anything from the internet with high speeds but if I download something music playback starts to crackle and break. That is very annoying and I'm wondering why high wifi bandwidth would cause this kind of problem for bluetooth. If I've understood right, bluetooth and wifi modules reside on the same wireless card on Yoga but still, shouldn't they be separate in a way that they wouldn't be able to affect each other's performance? I'm using Nokia MD-310 Wireless Receiver with my Yoga. My second problem is about the same wireless card, too. My wifi works otherwise well and I haven't had any speed problems with it (unlike many others on this forum) but after a few weeks of using my Yoga it started to have problems with reconnecting to my wifi after waking up from sleep. It doesn't find any wifis unless I run the wireless troubleshoot which resets the wireless card. I've tried reinstalling the driver and setting windows 8 power management settings to maximum performance but nothing seems to solve these two problems. Does anyone have solution for these?

I posted this elsewhere but thought it might be somewhat of a more unique problem. It took me a while to get my wifi working, so I am currently using driver 16.5.3.6. I attempted to pair some bluetooth headphones to the computer tonight (a set of Plantronics headphones I use with my iPhone), but when I turned bluetooth on, the wifi just completely cut out. I attempted to uninstall and update my bluetooth driver but nothing seems to be working. Has anyone had this problem?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro wifi drops when Bluetooth is turned on?

WiFi and Bluetooth hardly coexist in the 2.4 GHz band. Swap your WiFi to 7260AC and use 5 GHz band only. That way Bluetooth and WiFi can work without interfering each other. Otherwise, you'll always expect connectivity issues with WiFi whenever Bluetooth is sending and receiving radio.

Unfortunately, I also met WiFi problems, but also found unexpected and sad solution. Wifi worked pretty well at working place, but had problems at home. As an experiment I brought WiFi router from the working place home. It did not work! At home I used pretty old keyboard and mouse plugged into passive USB hub. As soon as they were disconnected, problems disappeared. WiFi was also stable after I plugged power supply into the USB hub. We are making 24-bit analog-to-digital converter that connects to the PC via USB. I exactly know its current consumption (300 to 330 mA) and know that it correctly handles USB rules about power regulations. Maximum current, specified by USB2.0 standard, is 500mA, so consumption of our ADC is within limits. As soon as I plug this ADC in, WiFi connection immediately disappears at the working place. In the case of other devices, such as USB flash drive, power consumption may depend on the activity, increasing as it writes or reads something, and decreasing at the moment of inactivity. I'm pretty sure that Lenovo placed their WiFi/bluetooth module on the same USB hub with right-side USB2 connector. Any device, that requires energy, being plugged into USB2.0 port, immediately destroys WiFi (and presumably bluetooth) and it is rather hard to get it back alive without special dancing around. So, conclusion: never plug anything into USB2.0 port, if you need WiFi. This decreases number of available USB ports from two to one. ... Read more

Answer:Yoga 13 WiFi and bluetooth issue resolved

Sorry, but not that easy. Situation repeated several times, but after several reboots situation improved, and now WiFi is available. I am still quite sure this effect exists, but it is not permanent. By the way, WiFi was not available both under W8.1 single language (Russian) with Lenovo power management installed and and W8 Enterprize without Lenovo power management (installation of Lenovo power management leads to blue screen in this version). My Yoga is in dual boot configuration, as I need Hyper-V and it's not available with default installed W8 system.

Recently there was a Wifi Driver issue, which got resolved when the service guy came and replaced it, 6-8 weeks ago. After that my Wifi works fine but has a bit of a performance issue - It takes some time to identify Wifi Networks. If I switch on my bluetooth, the wifi performance degrades more, i.e. more time to identify network and the speeds of download/upload deteriorates a lot (A video in Youtube 720p quality is brought down to 144p).In addition it seems to take a lot of time for my bluetooth to identify a device. Does the Wifi and Bluetooth share the antennas? If so does this mean the antenna have a problem now?Is there a way to troubleshoot this? maybe by checking speed on Wifi and bluetooth.

When bluetooth is enabled on my Yoga 710, I am having severe wifi connection problem, i.e. 95% connection lost, pages load slowly if at all, chrome often crashes. This happens equally when I'm loading pages from the router, so it's not related to internet speeds, etc. I've tried changing the channel of my router from 1, 6, 11, all channel perform the same when bluetooth is enabled. I know my bluetooth mouse is not the problem, rather it's the laptop itself, because, I've tried using my bluetooth mouse on another laptop 3 inches away with no effect on connection to my Yoga. I've tried moving within 1 meter of my router, without improvement of proformance. In short, if bluetooth is enabled, wifi connection is very very poor, if it's not enabled, it's great.I've tried uninstalling the bluedriver, and reinstalling the driver's I found on the lenovo website. This didn't change anything. I've ensured my wifi and bluetooth drivers are all up to date.Perhaps there is another driver I can try?Any advice would be appreciated, I like my bluetooth mouse, and would prefer to keep my 2 usb ports open instead of using a wireless usb mouse, which is what I'm doing now.

I just got a Microsoft Designer Bluetooh Mouse. I was reading reviews for it and people thought it was a good mouse. It has bluetooh 4.0 and so does the Yoga Pro 2. It connected and works just fine. However, I quickly realized that my internet was very very slow. I was wondering what was wrong and tried discconecting the muose. The connection speed instantly skyrocketed. And as soon as I turned it back on, it dropped below usable speeds. I have reinstalled both Wifi and Bluetooh drivers, I have changed chanels on my router. Nothing works. Has anyone else had any luck with bluetooth mice? This is really dissapointing because I thought I was getting someting great by not having to use up one of my only two USB ports. Now it looks like I might have to fork out some more cash for a mouse that actally works.

When using the mouse the WIFI speed drops to 33,6 modem era...Nothing I tried seems to help (configurations in WIFI and bluetooth, drivers, etc). Only turning off the mouse seems to help which is unacceptable. And even then the WIFI speed is nothing to be proud off (comon problem with Y2P and other Lenovo laptops).I've evaluating alternatives, the HP Spectre x360 is really growing on me.

I bought a used Yoga Ideapad 13. The Realtek card has probably died and there is no wireless or bluetooth. I've been into device manager and under network adapters there is no sign of it. Just to indulge in a bit of magical thinking I downloaded drivers for the non-existent card. I'm using a USB wireless dongle instead but to have 2 separate dongles for bluetooth and wifi is irksome.I went into BIOS and made sure that wireless was enabled.I updated from W8 to 8.1 but it made no difference, in neither case was the Realtek operating.Has anyone resurrected the Realtek card? Or relaced it?

Yoga 13 Bad Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ? almost giving up (and giving back) I have purchased the Yoga 13 a week ago, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, I experienced problems to connect to the public Wi-Fi. I get  5 seconds of Wi-Fi connected, and then 5 seconds of "limited connection", and again "connected" for 5 sec., "limited" for 5 sec., and so on. I convinced myself it was because of the large number of people connected at the place I have been at. But now I am sitting here, with just a few people, and it seems they are all connected well, and only I get the 5 seconds cycle.  But it wasn't for this issue that I started to feel frustrated with my 1 week old Lenovo Yoga. It's the Bluetooth issue that really bothers me. I am trying to use Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000 mouse. I have to use it, since I have to use both USBs for other devices. At first it worked fine. Just the random disconnections everyone on the net are talking about. I tried everything: I set the power management of the realtek  rtl8723A chip so it won't be able to turn off the BT. I also set the BT to automatically search for devices under services.msc management, which supposed to help reconnection after sleep. Each time it seemed like the problem was solved, until the next time it randomly disconnected. So I have updated my machine. First, I've updated the BIOS from CN52 to CN55. I don't know if it's relevant, but I mention it anyway. Them I've updated the realtek drivers, according to th... Read more

Hello,I have had a Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) for over a year now.  A couple months ago I purchased a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse. Ever since I've been in a bluetooth twilight zone of bizarre behavior.  It will work and then cut out.  Some times it will be recognized but not work at all.  Other times it will be recognized and not pair properly.  I've combed through the forums and have tried:- Switch the settings to prevent the computer from shutting off the device due to power management (this did help but did not solve all of the problems).- Upgraded to the newest Lenovo driver on the Lenovo website (installed but refused to recognize any bluetooth device).- Uninstalled and upgraded to the newest driver on the Intel website (crashed when trying to install)- Uninstalled and reversed back to original Lenovo driver on D drive.- I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wifi driver.  The first time this worked... the second time nothing. So where am I now?   All of the devices show up fine in the Device Manager.  The mouse is discoverable but won't pair. And I guess I'm out of ideas as to what to try next.  From reading the forums I guess it seems like I'm not the only one suffering from bluetooth issues with the Yoga 2 Pro.  But thought that I might as well post to see if perhaps there is someone out there who has an idea that I haven't already tried. Or perhaps someone from Lenovo could reply... I purchased a Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth mouse to use with my Yoga.Installation was a breeze, but the mouse pointer slowed down to an unusable level when donloading data over WiFi. The REALTEK Wifi and Bluetooth hardware are integrated on the same device... I went ahead and installed the latest REALTEK driver from the Lenovo website. The mouse works better now, however the pointer still appears to slow down signifiantly every 30 minutes or so. Hi,I have the following issue with my newly received, out of the box X1 Yoga 2nd gen: Most of the special function buttons don't work: To be specific, only the adjust volume buttons (~F1-F3) and the brightness buttons (~F5 and F6) work. Buttons like the mic off button (F4) dont do anything, no matter if the "Fn" key is pressed or not. I checked the keyboard using an online tool, and all keys work physically, so it must be a software problem. I had this problem directly after finishing setting up windows 10, prior to installing any other software. I do have several keyboard language settings enabled, but the problem exists for all of them. I would appreciate any suggestions!Greetings,Gregor

Hi, Since today I'm unable to enable/disable plane mode on windows 8 (it looks like plane mode is enabled but the visual switch automatically returns to it's default position). As a consequence, wifi is disabled and I'm unable to move the wifi switch button to the enable state (state is set to inactive). I had to use the "Diagnose and repare" button from the network panel to re-enable the WiFi. After some investigations, I finally found that is issue is caused by the bluetooth that cannot be disabled when my Yoga is associated with my Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard. As this issue totally breaks the "plane mode", If someone has a solution (or maybe an explanation) to allow bluetooth disabling other than removing bluetooth link with this device, I'm really interested.

About 2 weeks ago my USB 3.0 port stopped working, after reading the comments on the interenet i presume this is from the Windows 8.1 update. I tried at first to sort it out myself by trying to uninstall and reinstall the port, I updated by BIOS, went through all the Device Manager and BIOS setup options to make sure it was working, and double checked windows updates. I am not particulary tech savvy but I thought this could not be too hard, as I it still lights up my external hardrive, it just does not detect it. So I know it is not physical damage.I then contacted Lenovo support who told me quite a few people were having this issue and that all I needed to do was download the updated Chipset and Intel Management Driver software. Clearly this guy had not heard of automatic updates and low and behold it did not work. I then rang back and the next guy was so inaudible due to his accent that I literally could not be bothered to ask him to repeat evey sentence, which was the first 5 minutes of our conversation. In my device manager I have an unknown device called USB Root Hub (xHCI), when I try to update the driver it says it cannot find any suitable match. I know this hub is the one to detect USB drives, so I don't understand why it will not find a driver.Around the same time I also noticed that my Bluetooth does not work properly! Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... I bought a Flex 14 from the Lenovo store website a month ago, and I seem to be having problems with my wireless adapter. I can't remember if it is because of the update to 8.1 since I updated my laptop to 8.1 on the day that I received my laptop. No matter how far away I am to the router, my wifi would disconnect. It would disconnect for around 30-60 seconds and happens very often, which is kind of annoying. Other laptops in my house don't experience this kind of issue, so it can't be my wireless router or internet service provider. Bluetooth seems to have issues as well. I bought a bluetooth mouse for my laptop around 2 weeks ago and it disconnects just like my wifi. I've tested the mouse with my phone for a full hour and I did not encounter any problems, so I concluded that it must be my wireless adapter that has a problem. I've tried updating all the drivers from Lenovo support page, but that didn't fix it. So, I tried getting the drivers from Intel, since my adapter is the Intel Wireless-N 7260. That also did not work. Any ideas? I would really appreciate any sort of help right now.

Have you tried going to Device Manager and disable roaming or reduce roaming sensitivity? Also try to turn off any kind of power saving features you see.Does your bluetooth mouse come with an additional USB dongle?Does it only happen when you use the BT mouse with your laptop?

Hi, I bought my notebook "HP Pavilion g6" on January 2013. It was working fine until last month though I was facing some connection problems with wifi after upgradation to Windows 10. Suddenly, after some updates, the wifi and bluetooth adapters have disappeared. I tried to rectify the problem by trying out the solutions given everywhere, but no luck. The adapter itself is missing. Even after downloading the adapter, its not shown in the device manager as well as the network connections. Hence, I am not able to connect to wifi. Please help me with this issue. Thank you,Yadukrishnan Nair

Hey, So I bought the new 700 yoga with the core i7 this past week. I had some issues with the wifi and have been scouring the internet and can not find a fix for the incredibly slow wifi. My internet is fios with 40 up and down and can get that speed on my lenovo thinkpad, y series laptop, and cell phone. But this the only laptop that has windows 10 installed and when i run either speedtest.net or the internet health test this laptop will not get anything close to that. I have installed all the windows update and disabled the peer to peer update and every information sharing option in the settings. The speeds i can get in the first minute of turning on the laptop is 8 down and 20ish up. After one or two minutes the down and upload speeds drop to 0.1mbps down and up and it will time out the internet constantly. Anyone else having issues like this? I called the tech support line and since I am getting some wifi connection the support service said it is not a hardware issue and is a software issue but for the support i would have to pay to on a laptop i had less than a week.Any help would be great.

My yoga will connect to my wifi network only once. I then need to reboot my wifi router. No other devices in the house have this problem and the network is always still active. I get two messages and not sure why I get one and not the other. The messages basically say either network not available (but it is) or that something has changes and it asks for the network password but then wont connect either. My network adapter is Realtek RTL8723AU. I have made sure all drivers are up to date, tried changing power saving options so they dont turn off adapter.  Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I just recieved my yoga a few days ago and am having trouble with wifi connectivity.  If i am sitting on top of my router the yoga works well and fast however just one room away with the machine on my lap and i am unable to connect at all.  The laptop recognizes my network but is unable to open simple web pages or email.   I contacted lenovo who told me it was an issue with the microsoft updates and we restored to factory settings and turned off autmomatic microsoft updates but am still having the issue. Otherwise the yoga works very well but will have to return if i am unable to travel outside of 10 feet of my router without losing internet.  Wondering if anyone has any reccomendations or dealing with similar issues.  Thanks for the help

Hi all, As with many I am experiencing severe Wifi issues with new Yoga 11s. I will try to explain in detail in the hope that someone who better understands how wifi really works might be able to help diagnose. I have a Talktalk badged Huawei HG533 router. This delivers c.15Mbs reliably all around my house (2xTVs, computers up and downstairs, 2xphones). Using Speedtest.net to capture speeds. With the Yoga, if I sit right next to the router (as I am now), I get 15Mbs. In other parts of the house I get just 0.5Mb, including rooms where other devices are measured at 15. I have updated drivers and upgraded to W8.1 though I experienced exactly the same problem before the upgrade. I have tested every room and it seems that it will either work at very close to the maximum (in a few rooms) or drops off catastrophically to 0.5mb or less. There is no in between. I never lose connection altogether. There seems no correalation between the level of signal displayed (4 or 5 bars) and the speed. The 'good' rooms are separated by fewer walls. I have also observed that on occasion having tested in a good room and then moving to one of the bad rooms it initially shows good performance, before seemingly recognising where it is and throttling back to unusable. It is as though once it gets to a certain distance/separation/signal strength it somehow 'jams' the signal. I really neeed to find a solution to this as 1. my office is one of the bad rooms and 2. I am oft... Read more

I notice that 80 people have viewed my previous post but no one yet replied . Thought I'd give an update to see whether anyone else experienced similar problems. So - machine still behaving as before (good or bad, nothing between) so I bought a USB wi-fi adapter because I needed to get connection in my office. I got exactly the same issues! .  Sitting in my office - old laptop (shortly to return to ex employer) running along nicely at 15Mbps - new Yoga, with TP-Link adapter in (and on-board RealTek disabled) crawling at 0.3Mbs 2 feet away. Could it be some on-board interference coming from Yoga itself (that takes over at a certain level of signal)? Could it be something to do with W8? I am at a complete loss and would really welcome any feedback or suggestions from other forum members. Many thanks

I have several laptops which have expierenced WFI connectivity issues for no apparent reason. i am able to see networks, and able to see the networks that were preferred and used everyday, but all of a sudden I am unable to connect to them, even if I select them. One workstation began reconnecting after having some time shut down. Is this a driver issue? Please help

I'm currently on my second Yoga in a week. The first one would not connect to the WiFi in my home at all. It would see every router in my neiborhood, but wouldn't connect. After trying a different router, even going so far as to walk down to the local Starbucks. Nothing. So I spoke to someone at Lenovo and we decided that I should just exchange it at the local Best Buy, they seemed to thing it had a faulty wireless card. I exchanged it, un boxed it, and tried to get it to connect. After several tries, it connected. It stayed connected for about a half hour, long enough to stream an episode of South Park, then it disconnected, and wouldn't reconnect. Then it seemed to reconnect on its own out of no where. When it is connected, it seems to lose its connection when it goes to sleep, and not reconnect when it wakes up again, setting the whole "reconnect, disconnect" game into motion. I've had this second Yoga about 2 days, and I'm thinking I'll return it too. Which is a shame, I really like everything about it, but I refuse to be a beta tester and change a bunch of settings on a $1000 laptop, just to use it. I have the connect automatically box checked, and I have a NetGear WNDR3700 router in my house.I have no other difficulties, as almost everything in my home is hard wired. I'd love some insight, but if this can't be resolved in the next day or 2, I'll return it and wait for another convertible ultrabook to come out. And to be clear,... Read more

Answer:Yoga 13 WiFi issues

Please try setting your Negear WNDR3700 Wireless Settings so that the 2.4Ghz mode is "Up to 130 Mbps", not "Up to 300 Mbps".  You can also try changing the wireless channel to 11 or 1. The Yoga's wireless seems very (in)sensitive to certain wireless environments so changing these parameters may make a difference.  If so, let us know and we can encourage others to try the same thing as a workaround while we wait for a possible improvement or fix from Lenovo.

MY yoga 900 arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to connect to WFI for more then few minutes before experiencing heavy drop outs. Not only that, but it is  interfering with all other devices connected to the same wifi and I loose signal on all devices(MY phone and my wife laptop). The only way to get back the connection on those devices is to power down  the yoga completely. It is the first time I experience this kind of interference. I suspected the problem was a compatibility issue between my router and the yoga. So I took the yoga to the office today and the same things happened!?!! All devices in the office lost the WIFI  unless I turn off the machine.... Any help? Thanks!

Hey so I have this Lenovo yoga 3 pro for about 6 months and I read here in many postes about the Wifi IssueThere is any one that can recomend me what to do ? The issue is that the wifi signal allways lower then any other laptop. unless im sitting on the router thats the only way ill get full signal.I already update the driver. Thanks Yoav

Answer:Yoga 3 pro WIfi issues..

Could you please be a little more specific about the issue -

1) Are you getting lower speed on Yoga 3 pro?
2) How far are you from Router when the issue happens?
3) Which laptop have you compared this with? Are both devices at the same location?
4) Could you perform 3 speed tests on each of the devices and post the results.
You can use OOkla speedtest.net to do this.
5) Also, please make sure to use the same browser on both devices.

Once the issue is identified, I could try to provide some recommendations.

Hello, i have windows 10 installed on my Yoga Pro 3. My problem is that everytime the laptop goes to sleep or hibernates (after wake-up), i have to troubleshoot the wifi to get it running (i think usually resetting the adapter does the trick), it fixes the problem, but hey i didn't buy a small portable laptop (which you usually close quite often) so i can wait 5 minutes to troubleshoot the wifi everytime. The wifi did work "better", it disconnected less on Windows 8.1 and works perfectly fine on ubuntu 14.04+(strange huh). Anyone has an idea on what could be causing this? The second thing is the fan. It is on from when i power up the laptop untill i shut it down and its way too loud. That is just sad for a "portable machine" like the Yoga 3 Pro (i don't feel like holding a roaring tablet in my hand). Considering we won't be getting any fixes anytime soon from lenovo, is there any software (third party) to disable or set some trigger temperature for the fan? Any other solutions? Thanks for the answers,Gregor Kristan

Hello, Just wondering of anyone on the forum or someone from Lenovo can help. I am not technologically savy and mostly just a user of Microsoft software. My wireless connection on my new Thinkpad Yoga is slow and cannot stream media such as I Player or I Player radio without stopping. My four years old sony vaio laptop has no problem doing these things. I've read on the forum that deleting the Lenovo EMC Storage Connector helps. I have done this but the connection is still poor. I then phoned Lenovo technical support, they asked me to re-download the wireless driver and hot key driver and then try the wireless connection on a different network to see if it is still slow and if it is contact them again. I will do this soon to test it. Does anyone have any other ideas what could be the problem. I really like the Thinkpad Yoga and it would be ashame to take it back if this can't be fixed. Interestingly the technical support person did not know or acknowledge the problem with the Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. Hope someone can help. Many thanks.

Answer:Wifi issues with Thinkpad Yoga

Hello, Sorry to bump this up but I'm still hoping there might be some advice out there. I've tested the yoga thinkpad on two other wifi fibre optic broadband networks and it worked fine. On my own EE normal broadband it still struggles and can't play a 30 min I player programme without stopping every three minutes. What I don't understand is that my sony vaio laptop works fine on the same network. The other weird thing is when I do a speedtest on speednet.com, as it's downloading, the test file it shows speed of about 15 MBS (not bad) but it can't quite finish downloading the file, just hover there. No idea why, could this indicate a problem? I will contact EE technical support to see if there is anything their end. Cheers,James

Hi there, I just bought a brandnew Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga (i7 with Digitizer) with the integrated "IntelŪ Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" Wifi Module. It communicates with a FritzBox 7390 router. I ran the "Lenovo System Update 5" and installed all the drivers. No mather what I did, I had wifi issues. 1-5 Mbps max (~50 Mbps possible).. every 5 Minutes the connection to the router was lost... Common problems a lot of users are experiencing. After that I downloaded the driver from the Lenovo Support site. It had a newer signature... but still the same problems.  I found out, that the new driver, that I found at the Intel Support Page, solves my issues. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24460  So for anyone who has the same annyoing issues, remove your driver, and install the one from Intel. And for the Lenovo Support.Could you Update the driver, in your "System Updater" Programm and on the Webpage?Atleast for me, the outdated driver is producing a lot of problems.  Just wanted to shareDan

I keep reading forum posts about the mustard-y yellows and wifi issues related to the Yoga 2 Pro, but I haven't been able to find any in-depth reviews about the new Yoga 2 13. It seems to have the same wifi card, so does it have the same disconnection problems? And can anyone comment about the quality of the yellows on the screen? Thanks. Edit: I found this review, which seems to say that the yellow issues from the Yoga 2 Pro are fixed in the Yoga 2 13: http://www.digitalversus.com/laptop/lenovo-ideapad-yoga-2-13-3-p18512/test.html#full-review . They list the wifi as stable, but they said the same thing for the Yoga 2 Pro, so I don't know what to think. Can anyone confirm whether or not the wifi is stable?

Answer:Does the Yoga 2 13 (non-pro) have the same yellow and wifi issues?

It has a different display, so I doubt it will suffer from the same yellow issue. People have reported the same wifi issues.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga WiFi issues?

I am having issues with a ThinkPad Yoga model 20C0. It is very selective on what WiFi network it would connect to. Sometimes it goes on Limited Connectivity and does not conenct to anything until you disable and enable Wi-Fi.  In some cases it will connect to a WiFi network and other people would be knock out of the network, in other cases it will connect and after a few minutes the connection will drop and will not reconnect after a reboot. According to an article that reviews the ThinkPad Yoga, it is a Windows 8 (or 8.1) issue that happens also on other machines. Link to article: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga.htm

Having a issue with the WIFI not connecting after waking up or restarting frequently.  The only way to get it to connect is to cycle the wifi off and on again and I may have to do this more than once.  I have multiple computers at home with no problems.  I tried updating the driver from the Lenovo support, but that did not fix the issue.Do I need to uninstall the original driver before trying to install the one from Lenovo website? I installed Ubuntu 16.04 on my XPS 13 9350.  It does have the Broadcom wifi/bt adapter.
My wifi issue is the computer will not connect to my 5GHZ network. Every time I try it just fails to connect and asks me for the password even though it's correct.  I can connect to my 2.4ghz but not the 5ghz

My BT issue is I have always have to repair my BT mouse when the computer restarts.
I previously had a 9343 and I had no issues like this.  I was able to connect to my 5ghz network and using Bluetooth manager as a trusted device my mouse always reconnected at a reboot.
I know there are some issues with Broadcom adapters but my 9343 had one and I did not have this issue at all.  Is it just because the 9350 has a newer broadcom chip so it's not fully supported?

So I have an interresting situation.

A week ago we ordered a bunch of Asus T100TA transformer book tablets for a customer. One of them wouldn't recognize bluetooth or wifi and it had a problem with the Broadcom Serial Bus Driver over UART Bus Enumerator.
After numerous driver downloads and installs and even a full factory restore (whatever option
in windows 8 where it deletes everything and reinstalls the OS), the issue still persisted. Since the tablet was brand new, we just
submitted a DOA request from our wholesaler and sent the tablet back. No big deal, figured it was a hardware issue.

The other day, a Lenovo tablet came in with the EXACT same problem. Again...driver installs, factory restore etc....and the issue is
still there. SO obviously it's not a hardware issue and despite the numerous posts on the internet, I can't seem to find a solution.

Again, both units have had drivers, bios and factory restores and the issue is still there, immediately after factory restore.

Answer:Wifi/Bluetooth issues. Broadcom UART Bus. 2 different tabl

If they are coming from the same wholesaler. I would say it is time to find a different company to purchase the units from.

Reset BIOS Settings to default to remedy a display issue and when I booted back into windows, Wifi and USB were disabled completely along with many other services.  Lenovo chat support suggested they send me the original Windows 8 Pro disc and re-image, or I send it in for repair under the warranty.  Fiddled around some more and fixed the issue. On this model you have to Spam the "Enter" key at bootup to access the Startup Pause Menu and then Press F1 to enter BIOS.   Upon resetting the BIOS to it's defaults the I/O Ports were set to "Disabled".  To remedy this do the following:  BIOS >  Security Tab > I/O Port Access >  "Enable" all fields. This was the quick fix I was looking for and I ended up finding it out myself.  Hopefully, this can help someone else in the future.  I didn't think to look under the "Security" tab in BIOS for port, wifi, bluetooth issues... but now I know.  #KnowingIsHalfTheBattle.  Cheers. -Rahb

I was really hoping that this would be the perfect PC.  Everyone Raves about Lenovo's quality.  For the most part I love this thing.  I even made a Keyboard cover for tablet mode,  Hobby lobby special 1/4 black foam and two 1/2 bands of elastic.  It needs a bit of tweaking but anyways. Model: 11s  This thing was built in march I believe.  Most of been sitting in a supply yard.  I love how Lenovo cheated on the site and said that it wouldn't be built for two weeks. and then suddenly it appeared in the states.   Linksys wrt54g v5 with last firmware for its model and age I've messed with the settings a bit trying to get it better but no go.  The real issue is the Wi-Fi.  There are zero issues of Wi-Fi dropping in and out.  It does have one huge problem.  The signal is always weak.  It rarely fills the last bar.   My wife's old netbook gets a better signal.   What gives Lenovo.  You obviously see complaints and you even delayed the release of the 11s.  Screen issue.  It only appears on a white screen.  You have to tilt the screen and really focus in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.  It has this real faint diagonal light streak.  I've been monitoring to see if it gets worse but so far no real issues.  I'm not sure what to think about it.  It just annoys the hell out of me.

Answer:Yoga 11s Wifi issues and odd screen streak

I really enjoy the form fact or my Yoga... I'm annoyed at the fact I rarely see a full five bars (only four).  It may just be my old Linksys, but that's not the issue.  In the corner of my screen near the left hinge there is this faint diagonal light streak.  It only shows up on a white screen.  I noticed it one week into owner ship.  I rarely use the thing and I keep it in a safe place.  I don't ever abuse the thing.  So I'm unsure if there is a way to tell if It was accidental damage or just a faulty screen.  I mainly flip it from the left side (where the streak of light is).  The hinge kind of creaks when I flip it.   There is no visible separation of the plastic.  The glass is intact but I just can't get pass the light streak.   Its worrying me.  I want to call warranty on it but I can't afford to pay for it if they say its user error.  I know I didn't break it.  I just don't know if there is a way to tell that I want get screwed over and have to fork out money I don't have.

Hi, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 910 series laptop, costing a fortune. Its not even 20 days since I bought this laptop, I am seeing the wifi adaptor losing the connection within 5 mins of usage. Whats worse, it causing my wifi router to jam as well, and all of my other devices loses connection. I have few other devices, including a lenovo thinkpad, where i never faced any issues till date.  After some research I found out that the wifi adaptor in the lenovo yoga is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a  and it has lots of issues on Windows 10 and people are complaining on multiple forums about it since couple of years. Suprising that Lenovo nor Microsoft nor Qualcomm has not fixed it yet or I couldnt find a proper solution till now.  It is such a bad customer experience, that such a basic thing like wifi connectivity is not working properly on such a high end laptop. I feel I just made a bad decision of buying this waste device instead of a Mac book Pro. Hope someone from Lenovo fixes this for me or else I shall return this device.

I have installed the most recent drivers for my bluetooth and wifi devices. I have also installed the latest Win10 updates. This wifi and bluetooth problem has been around for a while. If my laptop starts up with bluetooth on, I cannot connect to the wifi until bluetooth is off. Then when i can turn on bluetooth while the wifi is still on. Sometimes, if i turn bluetooth on while wifi is on, the wifi will turn off and there is no possible way to connect to the same wifi connection again (I can connect to other wifi), until i restart my computer. Sometimes when i disconnect bluetooth by going out of range or closing the flap, sometimes it reconnects, sometimes after turning the bluetooth off to start it up again, it just wont start. I have a feeling that running wifi and bluetooth at the same time is sacrificing significant wifi speed.

Only think which I found is working is close lid, yoga is going to sleep and after wake up rotation is sudenly working. But after computer restart is again dead. 2. WIFI is very often disconnected and disabled. Turning on/off is working only for 1 sec. I must restart yoga or troubleshoot wifi connection which is restarting driver. Looks like after restarting driver wifi is working for longest time. Looks like I have latest driver Realtek rtl8723au 1027.4.630.2015 from 04/03/2016. Anybody has newest? Any download page? BTW I disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Didn't help.

Hello all! Every single day since my last windows 8 update (perhaps 2weeks ago)  I have been having my wifi drop out. The only way I can reconnect to the network is if I do a series of shutdowns or restarts or plug out my wireless router. It's getting very frustrating. Before 2 weeks ago the problem would occur only once a month or when the computer went to sleep.  I did install the latest driver and it's still happening. None of the other computers in the house have this issue so I KNOW that it's this laptop. Are there any other suggestions? Will upgrading to Windows 8.1 solve this issue finally or will I just run into more and other complications? Thanks

Answer:WIFI issues continue with Yoga 13 despite latest driver update

Did you apply the setting (details are all over this forum) so Wireless does not go to sleep?

I just took my yoga on my first business trip and I have to say that is both awesome (in terms of using it on a flight, in conferences) and frustrating (in terms of its wifi deafness). I may yet return it to Best Buy (I have 45 days) to see if I can get one that works better. As I've been playing around with the laptop, I've noticed that the wifi issues are most pronounced when the base of the laptop is resting against either my legs or on a dense surface. I was at a hotel with wifi in their lobby area and noticed that when I used it on a wood topped surface, it works ok most of the time but when I rest it on a stone surface or a surface with metal beneath it, wifi drops out. The extent to which it drops out also changes depending on the orientation of the device - it appears to be worst in laptop mode and best in tent mode. Given that the wifi repeaters were likely in the ceiling, it's not an issue of pure line-of-sight reception. This to me suggests that the antennas are either having a bridging issue (like the iphone 4) or that the presence of other materials is messing with the impedance of the antennas in the laptop. Clearly the RF engineer was sleeping on the job when this design came through - I bet in the rush to get it as thin as possible they failed to take into account the impact that environment would have on the device (though every tablet manufacturer is able to do this without issue...) I wonder if the same RF engineer will be able to s... Hi calebu2,

Thanks posting and Glad to hear that your loving the machine. I too just got a Yoga 13 and yes definitely a huge win. Though I must I say that I'veencountered any wireless issues as of yet though. I not particularly sure what can cause the Wifi issues as to be hones Most of the surface I've tried is are only wood one.

I have have yet to try the metal surfaces and stone surfaces. and see if it making any diffrences.

Another thing I'd like to check with you is your Wireless Drivers. Which Version and date do you have installed? On my machine I have the 1021.2.904.2012 verion with the release date of 4/9/2012.

Lenovo had released a new update of the drivers which was released on 23 Oct 2012 with the version 1.00.0193.
You want to consider updating if you have not done so. Click on the link below for the download.

Hope this helps.

Answer:Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop (ideapad) WiFi Connection/Staying connected issues

 Hi Chad76 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

With the connectivity issue , I would suggest to turn off / uncheck power saving from the property box of the device network adapter as shown on this link.
Transmit power to highest if available , Roaming aggressiveness / tendency highest  then restart .
Observe the changes on your connection.

Likewise to limit start up items that may be running from the background that may pick off some of the bandwidth, you may set the pc on clean boot as shown here.

Update us how it goes.

Hi, I have a XPS 13 9343 (i5/QHD) purchased refurbished from 3rd party, recently installed clean W10.
The Dell tool indicates to me that I should be installing:
9343_Network_Driver_WD22T_WN32_7.35.333.0_A03.EXE
Installing I get failure log at the bottom.
Via Device Manager as mentioned the WiFi adapter under Network is not there, scanning for hardware changes does not help.
I have tried manually installing inf files but I don't get any options under "Model" when I try to install it through legacy hardware.
I'm starting to think the Wifi/Bluetooth component is either faulty or entirely missing from the vendor (I have not opened it up and wouldn't know how to diagnose this myself).
I've attached a separate wifi dongle which works as does connecting to Ethernet via a USB adapter.
Any other ideas of what it could be? Thanks.

I just set up win 8 on my computer and was going thru the process of connecting my bluetooth mouse and my bluetooth keyboard. My mouse connected automatically, no problems. When I went to connect my keyboard I got the usual prompt asking you to enter the code, but the code was not accepted no matter how many times I tried. I know for a fact that this keyboard works, because it works fine on my Win 7 OS on the same computer. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey guys,  I bought this Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago, and have had no problems with it until about 3 days ago when the wifi internet got really slow and would cut out with in a minute or two of working. During this time, any time I open the notebook and connect to wifi all other devices in the house won't get internet. I've tried browsing through this forum, but the solutions that seemed to work for others have not worked for me. If anyone has experienced this or knows of a solution please let me know. Thank you!

So this sounds simple - using the wrong password but that's not the propblem - the problem occurred dec 12 or 13. (It also defaults to trying to connect to IOptimum internet whick i don't subscribe to) I've treid the Lenovo systesm troubleshooter and Microsoft's network, Internet and network adapter troubleshooters - no problems found. I done a system restore to back out the most recent updates. No luck.
Looking for any sort of advice - including how to get win 8.1 to forget specific networks. I saw this once using a right click on the network SSID but cvant get it to work for the life of me. The adapter is a Intel N-7260 I can send event logs from the adapter properties if needed.
I can connect to both unsecured and secured networks wiothout a problem.. The issue is only with my home wireless network. The yoga does not have a network jack for a wired connection.
I've reset my combo modem/wireless router ARRIS NVG589.

If it means anything - prior to this I always get a disconnect from WiFi at  exactly midnight - maybe it is renewing a DHCP lease?

Hello Folks,After having received a new Yoga 3 14 yesterday I noticed that there were a lot of screen ghosting issues, especially when using high contrast apps or leaving apps on the screen. Even when the system is booting the afterimages are there and persistent, and continue to build on top of each other. I have already rolled back and updated the graphics card, updated the BIOs, installed the firmware update to fix ghost touches etc. but the afterimages of chrome and the taskbar and explorer windows remain, only leaving the computer off for several hours solves but I don't believe that to be a pragmatic solution. If anyone else has had this issue or has fixed it please comment!

I have a PCI-e WiFi/BT combo card that worked in my HP laptop, but when I put it in the N580, It would not boot and said the wifi card was not authorized and I would have to remove it and replace with an authorized card. There are SO many different card available, I just want to find the correct one that will fit in the BIOS Whitelist.  I'm looking for a Dual Band wifi with Bluetooth 4.0 preferred. Something like this. Would this one on eBay work or is there another card I would need. Thanks! -Joshua

Answer:Can I replace stock wifi card with an Intel 6235 Wifi/Bluetooth PCI-e card in my N580?

Hello and welcome,

Whatever card you use, it MUST have a Lenovo FRU number.  Cards that will pass the BIOS whitelist have been modified to provide a specific subsystem ID to BIOS.  Reputable sellers will list the Lenovo FRU if their card is compatible.

For example, a generic Intel 6150NX will not pass the whitelist, but a 6150NX with a 20002543 FRU number will pass.

Here's the list from the N580 Hardware Maintenance Manual:

Hi Guys,
This is Viral. I am using an Acer laptop model ASPIRE 4736 since the last five years. There haven't been much issues with it. except for the battery and thats it. But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

I recently bought an IdeaPad S10-5 / Type 0647 / OS Windows 7. I can't connect to a wireless LAN at all. I even can't see any WiFi networks in my neighnourhood which I can see with my note books in use. The driver for the Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter seems to be up-to date ((Driver version is 8.0.0.279). I tried out various things such as deactivating and activating wireless network device / adapter, looking for latest driver version etc without success. I enabled WiFi at the computer (setting the HW switch on) and <Fn F5> but if I go via the control panel (Systemsteuerung) and device manager I get the message AdapterLAN connection or Wireless function is deactivatedLenovo ReadyComm tells me that the antenna of the wireless device was deactivated. If I can't resolve this issues I fear I have to return this computer. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks and best regards.

I just purchased a Yoga 11 refurb, but was wondering if BT is standard on these devices or an option. I thought I remember seeing BT listed in the spec sheet, but when I got the computer setup I don't see BT option. Thanks

Answer:Yoga 11 no bluetooth?

hi patlex,

If you have the Yoga 11 model that is listed on this pdf data sheet, then yes, it does come with a wireless+blluetooth combo adapter.

To check the adapter, can you try to:
1. Open device manager and check the bluetooth device

2. If the device is there, try to press the F7 (or Fn+F7) and see if you can enable bluetooth.
3. Alternatively, press Windows+C > Settings > Change PC Settings and under the Wireless Menu, see if you can toggle the bluetooth option. (screenshots here)

Let me know your findings.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem: Occationally when waking the unit from sleep the Bluetooth device stops working. It appears in the Device manager with an "!" on it, but when I disable and re-enable it it works again for a day or two before it happens again. It's not an end of the world sort of problem, but it's kind of annoying. I want to know if I'm the only one, or if it might be a driver issue that needs to be addressed?

Answer:Yoga 13 - Bluetooth issue

hi dumiller, thanks for posting. I was just wondering how long do leave your machine to sleep before waking it up? I too have a yoga but I must admit that I've not used the BT. But however I did face some similar with the wireless. After waking from sleep it has trouble connecting to the wireless. But it turn out that I just needed to be a little patient with the machine as it had to re-establish the wireless connection. It may be the same with the bluetooth.

However, you may also want to consider checking you bluetooth propeties by unchecking specific power saving propeties. This can be done by following the guide bellow.

Go to you bluetooth properties and click on the Bluetooth Tab.
Once there Click on BlueTooth Settings. (See illustrations below)

A new window should have appeared.
Click on the "Hardware" tab.
In the hardware tab select "RTL8723A 4.0+High Speed Chip"
Click on the "Properties Button" Below. (See Illustration below)

On you've clicked on the "Properties" button another window should appear.
Click on the "Power Management" Tab
Ensure to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and "Allow this device to wake the computer." (See illustration below)

hope this helps and do let me on how it goes.

Regards

Hi all,Just bought my Yoga yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it. A problem I encountered was when trying to pair the Bluetooth to a Belkin A2DP receiver (essentially, it appears as a Bluetooth audio headset to the computer). Audio quality sent to the speaker is very poor. I verified that the Belkin unit was functioning properly by pairing two other Bluetooth devices and having no issues with audio playback. I also updated to the latest RealTek Bluetooth driver on Lenovo's website. Still with bad audio quality. Any suggestions appreciated :-)

Answer:Yoga 13 - Bluetooth audio

Hi HummerMan3,

Thanks for posting. Sorry hear about the issues you're facing.

I too have a yoga I do agree it is a superb machine. In regards to the bluetooth Audio, Personally I have not tested the bluetooth or the Bluetooth Audio. I was just wondering when you mentioned the audio being really poor, do mean that the sound distorts or does the sound does not play loudly? How about when playing normally on the laptop? Do still get the same results.

Sorry for the list of question, but just wanted to be sure what exactly I'm dealing with.

Do let me know.

I'm currently having various problems with the internal IntelŪ Dualband-Wireless-N 7260 used for wireless lan and bluetooth. First, windows used the generic bluetooth driver, and bluetooth worked just fine. However with this driver the wlan couldn't handle wireless connections >54mbit/s. When I turned bluetooth off it worked without any problem. It seemed like a bluetooth AND a strong wlan connection (f.e. 300mbit/s) was too much.  After installing the latest intel bluetooth driver specific for this hardware (3.1.1311) the wireless lan works now fine with another bluetooth connection. However, now the bluetooth devices range is way too low. Using my headset I now have around 40cm of range, when I turn my head it looses the connection (no sound until I turn it back). With an usb bluetooth adapter I have a range of 10m and more.  Anyone else with this problem?I tried both wireless lan drivers v17 and v16.10.0.
