Preferred Solution: How To Uninstall this Intel Application?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I installed Autocad a while back but don't use it and want to uninstall.

Opened the ADD/REMOVE tool but Autocad does NOT appear in the list. In fact, there is a huge amount of blank space in the ADD/REMOVE program list just about where Autocad should be in alphabetical order; the remaining programs appear way at the bottom.

I looked through the Autocad install directory but did not find an uninstall executable.

Before I delete the install directory, which i know will leave some things, is there another way around this?

thanks

Answer:Cannot uninstall an application

I am kind of guessing.
Can't you use the AutoCAD program CD to install again. The program installer might be able to detect the old program and give you an option to remove it first. Or it might simply install over the old one. Then you can remove it (along with the old).

Can any one help, PLEASE? I want to completely uninstall U3 on a new Sandisk USB Flash Drive. I have tried several things but nothing works! I have outlined some of the problems and things I have tried below??..I have just received a 16gb Sandisk USB flash drive with ?U3? capability and want to use it only as a storage device. When I first plugged it in, I was given the choice of installing the software (?You can remove it later? so the darn thing said!) or using it as a storage device. I unwisely decided to try the U3 software and did not like the way it works at all, and so decided to uninstall it.The uninstall setting under ?U3 Launchpad Settings? only disables an auto run setting but then launches a partition on the drive which is shown as a CD drive (drive letter i) and the new storage area (drive letter L) which contains file / folders that I do not want & cannot permanently delete (they keep reinstalling themselves). An additional problem is that once launchpad is running, it keeps opening another flash drive that is also attached to the PC.1. I searched Sandisks website and downloaded an uninstaller???Did not work!2. I searched the internet and tried another uninstaller?again did not work.3. I have tried formatting Drive letter L???Files keep being reinstalled.4. Tried disabling the CD drive (Drive i)???cannot see / access the storage area (drive L)In short, I just want to use it as a storage device and do not want to have to keep t... Read more

Answer:Uninstall U3 application

Success!!!Having posted this question only a few minutes ago, I have found the answer????The Uninstallers only work if NO OTHER flash dives are plugged in!!! So if our excellent editors are reading this, perhaps a tip on one of your pages would help other ?Dimwits? like me, and avoid an afternoon of sheer frustration!!! Sandisk please note, a little hint like this on you help pages would have resulted in my having more hair now than I did earlier today!!!!!!!

Can I uninstall it by deleting the registry entries in Hkey CU/Software and Hkey LM/Software?
Any other places?

My friend tried to install tiscali broadband on her pc. Its an emachine 900..nothing major but has enough power to run the application according to them. Anyway nothing happened..the modem refused to play.
We were told by the techie on the phone to uninstall and try again but it wouldn't..no matter what. In the end the techi said tough luck the computer is not recognising the administrator as having the privelege of fully uninstalling and we'd have to contact microsoft or wipe the pc!! he also muttered something about a corrupt file...

Now I have wiped an old pc before and installed XP successfully ( having nowt to lose I decided to try it but is was ages ago) but its different when it's not your own...*gulp*

Has anyone any suggestions we can try. According to the pc there is only one user so I don't get how it won't uninstall! It keeps freezing at the same point and telling us there is a kernell error. We have tried uninstalling evry which way!

Incidentally we installed the broadband software on MY laptop and it worked fine so it's not the disc itself. However it doesn't want to uninstall from mine either...

any suggestions gratefully received espeically if the are idiot proof.

Also any good sites for doing a wip should it come to it?!

Answer:can't uninstall an application...

You could try deleting all references to "tiscali" or whatever the application's name is from the Registry. However, I would only recommend doing this if you're experienced in using Windows Registry. I've uninstalled and cleaned up references to many problem applications, including spyware, like that.

Some how I can't uninstall my Veoh player beta; I checked every where in the add or remove program, its folder and in my CCleaner but I was not able to find it so I was wondering does anyone know a safe way that won't cause my computer to go bonkers. Thanks for reading my problem.

Answer:Can't uninstall an application

Hi, I believe Veoh Player is a MAC Application?I don't have any experience in MAC's but have been able to find this info,2a. Locate 'VeohPlayer-3.0.0f1.dmg' on your computernote: if you cannot locate the .dmg package, you can download it again here: http://www.veoh.com/downloadFlow.html?screen=3&dl=mac2b. Once located, open VeohPlayer-3.0.0f1.dmg2c. 'Veoh Player Uninstaller' should be available within the .dmg package, double-click 'Veoh Player Uninstaller' to initiate the uninstallation process2d. Complete the steps within the uninstall wizard to completely remove Veoh Player from your MacIf you've already tried to use the uninstall wizard (which it sounds like you might have), it might be possible you are logged in to your Mac with a restricted user account. If this is the case, try running the uninstaller from an admin account. Another possible solution is to rerun the Veoh Player installer, then the uninstaller.Taken from Veoh ForumsHope this helps

Don't know how it will sound but I need a windows application that can track each action while a setup is installing on the machine. Where it is placing and modifying the registry location and keeping the keys. And then give a log file when the installation is done.

This came up as I found many application are not completely uninstalled and keep some traces here and there.
I need a application that can clean every single bit of file for any install.

Thanks

Answer:Complete uninstall and log for a application?

You can use installwatch to generate a text file with what the installation did. It won't remove anything for you, but you could then create a "cleanup" script based on the information in the text file and run that.

I have a pre-loaded shopping application called Wizlink in my computer. I would like to uninstall it but it doesn't show up in the Uninstall utility in Control Panel. Has anyone heard of Wizlink? I would like to know whether simply deleting it without knowing what the associated files are and if they are going to cause any problems.

I have an HP and this program was pre-installed and linked to a couple of shopping shortcut icons also preloaded on my desktop (eBay etc).

Why can't the Uninstall utility find this pesky program, as I would much rather use an uninstaller than simply delete the program?

Any advice?

SOUND PROBLEMS071106

I’m trying to find the following:

My computer is a Toshiba A65-S1762 laptop, the operating system is Windows XP Home.

The problem is I need to find a way to uninstall Toshiba Speech System Applications.

1) When I go into Control Panel, Add/Remove Software and attempt to remove the speech applications, I get the following message: “An installation support file could not be installed. The system cannot find the file specified.” So it appears the system does not see the presence of the speech system applications.

2) Yet when I go to the Toshiba utility disk to reinstall the Toshiba Speech Applications I get the following message: “Toshiba Speech System Applications are already installed—Please uninstall and setup again.” This is the message appears after the replacement files are unzipped and ready to be reinstalled on the hard drive.

3) So I have a contradiction. The Control Panel says it cannot find the file. And the Toshiba disk says the file exists, and needs to be uninstalled.

MISCELLEANOUS - In Device Manager all of the sound devices and drivers indicate the are operating correctly.

When the audio is attempted to run a check on it in the Control Panel, Speech, the following messages appear:

I tried out a "free" zip utility; I think its name is HaoZip. I can't tell for sure because everything is in Chinese. Now when I try to open a zip file, it goes to this junk. Then I am stuck because the fields are labeled in Chinese and I can't use it. I tried uninstalling from its folder in my PC, and have uninstalled in the control panel.

BUT, it continues popping up as the default. How do I stop this invasion?

Windows add/remove but it doesn't uninstal programs that I want uninstalled! Maybe I'm doing soemthing wrong. The program I want deleted (Windows Movie Maker)doesn't show in the list. However if I have my computer search for the program, it can find it and I can run it from the search finds. How is that possible? If I run the search it finds the program in the Local Settings/Application Data file (where I found a bunch of stray stuff, like folders for programs I uninstalled ages ago). Something went awry with this piece of software..i cannot run it to set preferences..& there's a big "X" over it in the systray.

When i try to uninstall it so that i can re-install it..it stalls during the uninstall & i get the above message.

I tried belkin support but they say they cannot help me- they say it's a computer/OS problem & it's not their problem.

So, i'm kind of stuck. i cannot uninstall, i cannot re-install on top of it...i tried windows install clean up utility & that won't get rid of it.

I assume some file is corrupted somewhere..i don't know what to do.

Please, any suggestions? There is a "details" button with the error message..let me know if i should cut & paste the details. Also, there's a whole bunch of belkin files in the program file- belkin folder..but i don't know what to do with them- i didn't want to try deleting them all out right just yet.

Thanks.

I hope that someone can help out there with a problem that I've been having recently with Intel Application Accelerator on my PC which is a Pentium4, 2.4Ghz, 1GB RAM, 2 of 120GB hard drives and a 64MB NVIDIA TV-Out graphics card. I also have a Sony DW-U18A rewriter drive and a brand new LiteON SOHD-167T DVD-ROM drive in this PC - this has just been purchased and put in the PC.I'm running Windows XP SP2 with all latest patches and updates applied. The problem comes when I see that the Primary Slave 120GB drive is reported not to have DMA turned on, as well as the brand new LiteON SOHD-167T DVD-ROM drive which is the slave on the Secondary channel.According to various posts on this website which I looked at yesterday, I have tried the registry fix which involves changing the "autorun" value from 0 to 1.After doing this, I've noticed that DMA comes on but autorun turns off. I've also tried the "Autofix" utility from Microsoft and that hasn't worked either. As a last resort, I then uninstalled Intel Application Accelerator from the PC and rebooted. Now, both DMA and Autorun are enabled for all hard drives and optical drives on both the Primary and Secondary channels. The question I have is that by uninstalling Intel Application Accelerator, will this affect the system in some way? What does this program do that the PC itself can't, and can I get on with using the PC without Intel Application Accelerator? Can someone please shed some light on this for me? - all replies and suggestion... After upgrading to Windows 7, Intel Proset will not allow me to start the uninstaller due to its incompatibility with that version of Windows. I need to uninstall it in order to upgrade to a newer release. How can I manually reach the uninstaller so that I can run it in compatibility mode? Anyone know where it should be located?

Answer:Uninstall Intel Proset

Right click on the Intel Proset icon in the Start Menu and select "Properties". That'll tell you where the program resides, then a bit of digging should reveal if there is an uninstall program.

Have you tried running the free Revo uninstaller in compatibility mode? I haven't used it myself, but many people have recommended it.

I tried looking up info on your board. but none of the pages that came up were in english. are you certain that your mobo is compaitable with the intel AA?

even if it is your better off leaving it alone, IAA causes more problems that actually providing a benefit.

Also the latest XP IAA drivers are actually raid drivers which have to be installed BEFORE the OS is installed.

When I try the uninstall feature and add & remove programs, I get this popup. "Error in extracting support files. catastrophic failure." I tried to see if I could reinstall with the CD, but also get this error popup.I went to Intel site and they no longer offer support for this camera. How can I remove the numerous files associated with all of its software? I may add I had this on my PC previously and it worked with no problems. I just didn't use it so I uninstalled it. Any help will be apprciated.

Hi there,

Just got a new nVidia GTX460. I've tried to installed it several times without any success. Here's the thing that puzzles me. Every time I unintsall the current video (intrel g33/31chipset )card Win 7 requires a restart, and after the computer reboots it installes the chipset again. Once the old card installs again on its own the new card cannot be insdtalled because it is in conflict.

Answer:How to permanently uninstall Intel g33/g31 chipset?

I'm not really sure why you care. What's wrong with having the driver installed? Is it causing a problem?

You should be a little more clear about your problem, and what you're doing.

Windows XP Prof. Ed. OK, so I have myself in a catch 22 with trying to uninstall and re-install some software that I recieved with my Canon Digital Camera.

Basically I tried to uninstall using the Control Panel/Remove Programs, but this did not work. So I manually deleted the folder that I had installed the application under Program Files/Canon. Now the application still shows in the Control Panel/Remove Programs window. If I try to re-install the software, it says its already installed !!. How do I get out of this, delete the application and all its references, so I can install a clean copy ?

Thanks,

Mark.

I want to completely uninstall Microsoft Application Virtualization Client to gain more disk space on my C: drive. I have already moved my MSO Cache to a different partition. My O/S is Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. To my knowledge I have never used this App-V software. All of the information I have found so far is too technical for me to understand (such as the information found on this web page: (https://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/arc...edirected=true) I am not a newbie and I can follow specific directions IF they are specifically not using terms that I do not understand. One step there says to reboot the client .. yea, right. I don't know how to do that. Another web page says to use the Control Panel for uninstallation. There is no listing of Microsoft Application Virtualization Client or Application Virtualization Client to be found in the Programs and Features portion of my Control Panel. My Revo Uninstaller Pro likewise does not list Microsoft Application Virtualization Client or Application Virtualization Client. Thanks much.

It's not as clean but you can delete the files manually and then run a registry cleaner or CCleaner to try and clean up unused registry keys.

I upgraded my desktop PC from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 last week. I have an Intel SSD system disk, a 2T hard drive for user files, an old 500Mb hard drive for miscellaneous backups and an external 2T USB hard drive for backups.

I had Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) application v 12.9.0.1001 under Windows 8.1 and this remains operational after the upgrade. My Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard has an Intel 7 Series SATA AHCI Controller.

Do I really need the IRST application or should I uninstall it? I've seen in other posts on the forum that the IRST software may be the cause of occasional slow logins I experience on my desktop PC and laptop (both have IRST software).

Answer:Intel Rapid Storage Technology Application - Do I Need It?

I would recommend you try using it, then compare performance when it's not installed. It is explained somewhat in this old thread

Okay, I only recently heard of the IAA/chipset installer, because my new Radeon 9800 XT was lagging, and ATI had recommended installing Intel's Application Accelerator. So, the chipset installer worked fine, but on installing IAA, my system boots up to the XP loading screen, then almost immediately acts as if I pressed reset, going back to the bios screen. I can get back to Windows by using the last good configuration option, but then I lose the IAA drivers.

My system (was originally intended for Windows 2000, so this might be a problem):
Pentium 4 1400mhz
512 megs (PC 133) RAM
Two hard-drives; a Maxtor 2B020H1 19 gig and a Western Digital 160 gig partitioned into two drives
ATI Radeon 9800 XT (R630)
Intel 82801BA(M) ICH2X/M - AC'97 Audio Controller.

I know, most of you are probably tired of reading about the issue with CCC 10.8. But, I'm not here to talk about that so bare with me.   Since I never really have a legitimate use for the switchable graphics feature on my laptop, mostly because I am gaming and watching HD videos, there really is no need for me to use Intel HD graphics. So I was wondering, if I was to uninstall the onboard graphics using Safe Mode, then try updating my Radeon HD 5730 from the AMD website, would it cause any system instability? I am aware that this is a considerably new system so every trick on the book hasn't been tried yet. But before I try this, I've already created a system restore point to this very moment so if anything goes horribly wrong (e.g. BSOD) I can revert it. All I need is the unbiased advice of a somewhat  'experienced' person to give me a green and/or yellow light for this little experiment.     System specs are; 15.6" IdeaPad Y560Intel Core i5-450mATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 with Intel HD Integrated Graphics4GB of DDR3 RAMWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Answer:Can you uninstall the Intel HD Graphics drivers from Y560?

I don't know the answer, but I do know I would not trust a restore pointto get it all back if there is a problem. Got a external hard drive? Make a system image and recovery diskin Win 7, Backup and Restore. Works great for fooling around! Just my opinion.

Try running the Windows upgrade advisor in compatibility mode for Windows 7 or earlier, also click Run as Admin, and further right click the Windows Upgrade 8 upgrade advisor to run as Admin was the only way I could get it to work right.

Just want to double check. I got a Dell Latitude E5450 laptop a few days ago, and of course there's some stuff pre-installed. One of which is this "Intel Management and Security" or whatever:

(I'm hovering over the icon in the middle, middle row)

It annoys me when there's random software running (especially automatically whenever I boot) just in case I might need it.
I skimmed over the wiki page as well as this page regarding the Intel Active Management Technology. It sounds fancy and all, but as far as I can tell, the only actually useful thing out of all of that mumbo-jumbo is that it can update my Intel drivers when a new one comes out. However, isn't it true that I can just as well accomplish that with the Intel Driver Update Utility, which I can choose to launch, instead of having it run automatically all the time?

In short, this Intel Management thing is useless, right?

Answer:Safe to delete/uninstall this Intel Management crap?

If you remove it you will have a device without a driver. It won't really affect the OS much. You can stop the app from starting up however.

It would be great if HP included some instructions in their update section to walk us through, step by step, how to install a new driver when the previous one must first be uninstalled. Most updates are just click and download. Nothing else required.  But some of us aren't all that comfortable uninstalling drivers and don't know where to begin.

Answer:Intel Bluetooth Driver update--how to uninstall current driv...

Hi, Thank you for posting. You should not uninstall previous driver prior to updating new one. In Windows 10 you can install updates via Windows Update or Device Manager (preffered method). Here is how >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139 For non-critical, not so important and other updates, you can also use HP Support Assistant (HPSA) >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467905In HPSA, please skip BIOS/UEFI updates.  Hope this helps. Greetings,

I'm working on a desktop where any AMD video card will not respond after the standard 20 minute timeout to cut video; the whole machine freezes. It doesn't happen with nVidia cards (at least with a 550ti), so from what I could tell, making sure that all Catalyst-related files were removed from the machine was a good call.

I ran the AMD Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility, and found that it nuked Intel's USB drivers from the machine. It's an AsRock Z87 Pro3. I hooked up a serial mouse, and, using the on-screen keyboard, I downloaded/installed the chipset drivers from AsRock's web site (no joy), then the latest version from Intel, also with no change.

At this point, I'm running sfc /scannow, and if it would help, I will upload the logs.

This machine's specs:
AsRock Z87 Pro3
Intel i5-4670K
8GB RAM
1TB HDD
AMD Radeon HD7950 3GB (Also tried with Radeon HD7870)
Win7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit

Question 1: Is this most easily fixed with a repair install?
Question 2: Will a sysprep (generalized) fix it?

I have a genuine product key, so either of the above are possibilities at least from an activation perspective.

EDIT/UPDATE: sfc /scannow found no integrity violations.

Answer:Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility nuked Intel USB drivers

My own approach to uninstalling AMD drivers in order to install a newer version is to use Driver Fusion (formerly named Driver Sweeper).

There is a free version, but at its low price I use the "premium" version. It understands drivers.

Never had a problem with it uninstalling anything other than the exact AMD driver package (including Registry entries, etc.) I was trying to remove.
As far as finding drivers for the Intel USB components you saw got unintentionally removed with the AMD clean uninstall you ran, is the problem now that you can't get proper new versions of the deleted drivers reinstalled?

Do you have a "system restore points" you can restore from before you did the AMD uninstall? This should restore the working system at that point.

Do you have any complete "system image" backups you can recover from?

If you're just looking for help finding the Intel USB drivers for the machine, can you post a screenshot of Device Manager -> Properties for the "other devices" needing drivers, Details tab, and post the Hardware ID (second item in the Property dropdown list).

My 2+ year old ASUS laptop G771JM originally came w NVidia Graphics but when MSoft installed Win10

In short, I can't uninstall Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology to upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7 (64 bit). So I probably am the source of much of my problems, but the jist of my current problem is windows uninstaller says that I cannot remove Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology because my Intel Wireless Adapter is not found. I do not have an Intel Wireless Adapter. I have looked through my device manager, and unless I accidentley got rid of something somehow, which is entirely possible, all I have under Network adapters is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. If I choose to show hidden devicess then a bunch of Microsoft ISATAPs come up and WAN Miniports as well as a Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and RAS Async Network Adapter.

I tried using CCleaner to uninstall it and it seemed to work, but the Intel Bluetooth Technology was still picked up on as blocking my Windows 8 upgrade.

I really want to start running windows 8 so any solutions will be greatly appreciated.

Short verison: I can't uninstall or update my Intel PROset/Wireless software from v 17.16.1. Looking for ideas. Details: The Lenovo update utility informed me of a critical update to my Intel PROset software. I had v 17.16.1 installed and it wanted to install 18.something.  I let it run the update. The process stopped and sat inactive (no CPU / no disk activity) for ages. Upon reboot an Intel PROset app came up and reported that the installation was blocked because a newer version is installed. (Image below)  Control Panel reported TWO instances of Intel PROset/Wireless software installed: my original 17.16.1 and the 18.x new one. Trying to uninstall either one gave error that it could not be uninstalled. Used a  restore point to get rid of the 18.x.  However, now trying to uninstall the "IntelPROset Wireless Software" v17.16.1 brings up the Intel uninstall app, and it just sits there with no progress. The gears turn and nothing happens. Questions:Have I run into versioning issues between Intel and Lenovo released versions of the software? (I don't even recall the history of what I have installed and where it came from.)Are there any tricks to getting it to uninstall? Was using the Lenovo System Update my big mistake?Who should I trust for my Intel wireless drivers: Lenovo or Intel or Windows Update?Between all the Intel and Lenovo junk installed it is bewildering to know what to ditch, what to ignore, and what to rely on! Thanks in advance!&... Hi all I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 8 but the assistant will not let me proceed because it is tell me to "manually uninstall" the "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver". When I first ran the installer it listed two "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver". One had the uninstall button which I ran just fine but after a restart the upgrade installer still complained about the one that needed manually uninstalling. I've made sure all the Intel USB devices were uninstalled in device manager. I've reinstalled the drivers then uninstalled again. I've even been through the registry which did have references to iusb* files in system32/drivers. The files referenced did not exist so I removed those registry keys but the upgrage installer still complains that I have to manually uninstall the Intel USB 3. I even disabled the USB3 mode in the bios but this had no affect. Does anyone know what I need to do to stop the Windows 8 upgrade process complaining about this driver? Thanks

Answer:Windows 8 upgrade problem - Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver manually uninstall

FYI I gave up in the end and just did a clean install of Windows 8.

Wow, haven't been on here FOREVER! Here is a very basic breakdown of what is happening:

I want to uninstall Vista and Ubuntu.

I installed XP, then Vista, then Ubuntu. So the sequence at boot time is, GRUB tells me to choose Ubuntu or Windows, once I choose Windows, I get a choice between XP or Vista.

Ok, so I want to get rid of Vista and Ubuntu. How can I do this? I feel like the MBR will get messed up if I delete the Ubuntu and Vista partitions. Is there a certain way I have to go about deleting the Ubuntu and Vista partitions?

Worst case scenario would be losing all my data on Windows XP and having to just reinstall XP.

Answer:UNINSTALL Triple Boot System XP, Vista, Ubuntu... UNINSTALL Yes, UNinstall

Boot with the XP CD. Delete the Vista and Ubuntu Partitions. Format the Ubuntu Partition. Exit out of install process. Restart again with CD in place. Go to XP CD Recovery Console. fixboot and fixmbr commands on the System so that XP will boot.

This will be the best thing to do.

Hello,

Currently I have a working dual boot XP (on SATA1) and 2000 (on IDE2) and are using the Gigabyte VIA RAID drivers on both. 2000 is slower than XP.
Should I install the "Intel Application Accelerator"?
Is it reliable, supported and faster?

Regards
Phil

Answer:Solved: Should I install "Intel Application Accelerator"?

If you are using the Intel connectors for any of the drivers then yes it would be a good idea to install the latest Intel Application Accelerator. You can get the latest version from here: http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_Spec_GA-8I915P Duo Pro.htm

But you do realise that the IDE drive is in fact physically slower then the SATA drive. 5400 vs 7200 RPM spin and 2 vs 8 MB cache.

STOP: c oooo 145 {application error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x 0000005). Click OK to terminate application. The above message is what I receive, when I run "error check". It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I've been doing the ones that worked, defrag analysis, disk clean up & CC Cleaner. Along with those maintenance tasks, I update all the definitions on the malware software. With the aforementioned error message problem with the lap top, I also have a problem with Adobe Reader (listed in another topic), that I can't uninstall it, without getting a 'Error 1402' message. Then the one last problem is the cursor jumping around at random times, when I am typing to either the forum or in a Word document. I mention these other issues because I am not sure they're not related. This is a DELL Inspiron 1520, Centrino (2007). What steps are you taking to run the check?

That error seems to indicate a hard drive problem, which is why it was suggested to run chkdsk /r.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new screen and hit Enter. Reboot the system. The command should execute, before booting into XP.

I have seen several postings on this topic, but it seems that every one is a little different, so I am posting my dilemma. I am sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.
As of about 10 days ago, several programs will not open. Instead, I get the error window that states "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application." As far as I can tell, this error message affects these programs: Ultraplayer, Windows Media Player, Sound Recorder, Logitech Setpoint, Quicktime Player, Real One Message Center, and Total Recorder.

My computer is a desktop, HP Pavilion a1020n. Windows XP Home Ed., SP 3. Windows updates are current. Run Avast antivirus software and usually have Windows Firewall turned on.

Here's what I've tried:
Tried to uninstall and reinstall several programs. Uninstall usually won't happen. Have tried new installs over the old, but it doesn't "take."
10 days ago - went back to a restore point. Did no good.
Have run Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy several times, including today (May 2). Today Ad-Aware found and removed a few items from the families of Cookies, Win32 Trojan Spy, and Win32 Tr\.\per Delf. Spybot found nothing today.
Have run CCleaner to clean up registry.
Ran Hijack This and saved the log. I can post it if it is needed.

I've considered reformatting the hard drive, but really don't want to resort to that.

Answer:'This application has failed to start because WININET.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

Hello frankp747,From what I read, the "Wininet.dll" error can be caused by software, hardware, or malware. Why were you performing a system restore? Have you tried to access Safe Mode?As the computer is booting, tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the "Advanced Boot Options" Menu.Use your arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" then press the <Enter> key. Reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, try "Safe Mode."If Safe Mode loads then try to do a System Restore using a point before your troubles began. Click "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools," "System Restore."

Hello - I wrote an application in VB6 suppose 'APP_X'. which i am running every night using a service called 'WinService_Y' running as admin user. Now in APP_X, I am using net.exe to sync time
with server.

When the WinService_Y triggers the APP_X, it gives me the error saying:

"The application failed to initialize properly(0xc0000142). click ok to terminate the application"

Okay, title of the dialog box is Net.exe so i know this occured when APP_X is trying to execute Net.exe.

P.S: This does not occur if i directly run the APP_X without using the WinService_Y

APP_X is written in VB6 and WinService_Y is in C# .net framework 2.0

APP_X is just not time sync there are tons of other things

Sync time Code APP_X(sample):

    If sOut = "" Then

Sorry guys I'm new here and I don't know much about computers so I decided to post this question here in General Chat.Well this is the problem:the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application. (it pops up twice)I've researched this topic on Google and I have noticed a lot of other people have had the same problem but I think this is a special case.See, whenever I turn on my laptop on everything goes well and even gives me the option of selecting F2 to to configure things on the computer. But when I get to the main page where I'm supposed to log in this message pops up:the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application. So then I try to click Ctrl, Alt, and Del to open up the task menu but nothing happens. I noticed the keys are not unresponsive because when I click Caps Lock the little light flashes on.So please can somebody help me out with this huge problem, or is my laptop over and done with?EDIT: Moved to a more appropriate forumWe'll just assume XP-MG

Answer:the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I would prefer to move this topic to the OS forum that it relates to. Would you please let us know?

A user is getting a popup warning upon login (see event log entry below).

This started last friday and another Tech ran chkdsk and the user was able to print a few times before they left at end of day, not able to print today. I ran the chkdsk but no luck.

The print spooler service will not start, when forced the popup shows.

I have removed and replaced spoolsv.exe with no luck.
