Battery charging problem on Yoga 211

Question: Battery charging problem on Yoga 211

Hi, I have a new Yoga 2 11 and the battery will not charge. When first plugged in, it appears to charge but after 20 seconds it stops and if the ac adapter is removed, it dies. Have tried all the fixes online - any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Battery charging problem on Yoga 211

I've been having the same issue. I've had mine for about 2 months and it seems to be getting worse. I have, per manual, taken out battery and made sure clip securely fastened. That help for a bit. Other problem was the Lenovo battery application. I swear that drained battery, Even when the laptop was completely off. I'm at the point where I going to have to call support.

Mfg date for this laptop is Oct 2014, Windows 10 OS. About a month back battery power was about 25% when I plugged charger in. the screen became brighter, means it was charging. Suddenly the computer shut down and though charger was connected, the charging light went off. Thereafter the computer did not turn on either with charger or without. Even the charging light did not turn on. Changed the charger as well as cable but neither charging indicator turned on nor computer turned on. It was like battery fully down and charger not connected. Took it to Lenovo service center and they made it alright and told me that they had disconnected the battery and reconnected. The power left in the battery was still 25%. Exactly same thing happened once again yesterday and I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it worked. Since it happened second time, whatever the problem may be, was not solved permanently by above procedure. Can someone help what could be the reason and how to solve it permanently?

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I've had my Yoga 13 for a few years now, but it wasn't until last fall or so that I started to get 'Unauthorized Battery' warnings upon start-up from the Energy Management program. This is a bit ludicrous to me, as the Yoga 13's design makes it impossible to switch out the battery on your own (ie. it's the original battery, and not an unauthorized replacement). As a result, my laptop stops charging, which is a concern for me as I am a university student who doesn't always have a power outlet handy. I understand this is a serious bug or issue. The first time (and subsequent times) it happened, I found a similar thread here on the community board which advised numerous fixes which have worked for me in the past whenever my laptop starts displaying the unauthorized battery warnings. This time, however, nothing I do seems to work and I'm getting ridiculously frustrated. The things I have tried thus far (that previously worked, but this time around, did not):- Uninstalling and reinstalling Lenovo's Energy Management program - NOTE: Usually uninstalling this program removes the 'block' on battery charging, but this time around it doesn't seem to be working. - Fiddling around with the Energy Management program's power settings - Uninstalling Notebook FanControl (which I used to control the random fan accelerations that the Yoga 13 is prone to)- Doing a hard boot by holding the power button - Booting from BIOSThe last time this happened, I had the unit sent i... I tried doing the trubleshooting but I coudn't find "Run as Administrator" and tried doing Command Prompt as admin but couldn't find any issue....
I tried everything on the internet but nothing is working <\3

I'm realy afraid that my laptop will never work again, do I need a new one? or a new battery?
oh yeah I almost forgot when I click on the battery logo it doesn't give me how much it'll take, there's only "calculating"

Hello, I just bought (last week) a Yoga 2.  I love it, but the battery doesn't seem to really be charing to 100%.  I left my computer charging overnight (alongside my cell phone, which charged just fine) and then tried to use it the next day, but when I start up windows I get shown a message that the battery is only charged to 55%.   I immediatly plugged it it (I needed to be using it on battery power for a while) and after charging for about 10-15mins it told me it was 100% charged.  I proceeded to use it on battery power andeverything seemed fine (ie I was getting about 4-5 hours of life out of it) so I didn't worry about it. But it happened again today - I left the computer to charge overnight (plugged into the same powerstrip as my phone, which charged just fine once again) and when I started up isaw that the battery had only charged to 55%.  I decided to just keep using it to see if it would jump up to 100% (a friend told me that maybe the system is just calibrating to the battery and so gets the percent charged wrong when it powers up).  However, the battery has just steadily discharged, leading me to believe it really was only charged to 55%.   After reading a bit online I checked the Lenovo Energy Manager, but I don't have conservation mode turned on (or any other special settings, I haven't used that app before).   Please let me know if there is a simple fix - I really like this computer,... Simple question but very troublesome. I cannot charge the laptop when the power is on, while the charging functions normally when the power is off. When the laptop is on, I could see the battery sign on next to the bettery indicator on the screen, but the amount just stays stagnant. Please help me with this issue. Thank you!

I recently noticed that my battery was showing 10 percent when it had been plugged in all day. I plugged it in and it didnt seem like it was charging. I could see the laptop plugged in animation, but it was not charging. I woke up the next morning it was showing 96 percent, which at this point should be 100 percent.  I'm now noticing that it's just not charging.  Are there known issues? Regardless, this is totally unacceptable.

My battery is at 0% available, plugged in charging, but it never goes about 0%. I've tried resetting the battery gauge in Energy Manger 1.0.1.49 but that only runs for a few seconds and reports that the gauge reset is complete. I've also disabled the ACPI control in device manager then enabling it and the icon appears to be charging but only for a few seconds then stops. Having conservation mode on or off doesn't seem to make any difference. The latest BIOS is installed and I believe I have the latest version of Energy Manager. Anyone else having this problem?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Battery not charging

I've experienced this a couple times on my new Yoga 2 as well. The first instance, it just started charging again after about an hour of use. The second time, I rebooted after about an hour of it being plugged in and not charging, and once I reached the desktop, the battery showed 43%, but still not charging.. So i guess it was actually charging the whole time without showing it?After about 2 days of ownership, I've decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 followed by loading all the necessary drivers listed on lenovo's product page, and I can happily say this 0% plugged in not charging thing hasn't happened again.

Hello there! I have the issue that my newly bought Yoga 11 (three weeks ago) is charging whenever it seems to feel like. The first time I have charged it, it went up to 92 % telling me its now in power state and not charging. This happened triple. Yesterday my Yoga was beneath the 50 % mark and I plugged in the powercable, the same again: not charging. I unplugged the power cable and at 0 % and a shutdown I booted it and it charged perfectely up to 99 % without moaning. I unplugged the cable and at 77 % the same again, I plugged in the power cable and it charged up to 99 % again. Is this a bug (battery problem) or a feature (thresholds for a long living battery)? Anyone with the same? Tia,- bensty

I have a Yoga 13 with Windows 8.1.No problem for one year, while it was under warranty. Then suddenly it stopped charging even when plugged. When i plug the laptop, three different things can happen :-Screen flickers and battery icon flickers to between "plugged in, charging" and "not plugged in"-Or it keeps on 'not plugged in" Then the battery can stay at its low percentage for days and sometimes with no reason it goes 30% in 2 minutes. I do not have the 60% energy management software issue.I did factory reset two times.I did uninstall ACPI battery driver, shutdown, unplugged, wait 5 minutes and plugged back in.Energy management up to date (12/2014) and bios up to date. But problem still NOT SOLVED !I am not the only one with weird yoga 13 issues on this board but no solution can be found online.Could anyone please guide me through this?(Before i throw this 1000$ junk through my windows ?)

Answer:Yoga 13 Battery not charging

Battery not charging, when it gets to zero will not work at all even when plugged in.  Let it site for a couple weeks unplugged to get battery drained as much as possible.  Plugged it in once a day for a about 30 sec to see if anything would happen, nada...   After about 2 weeks, plugged in and finally orange light flashed then when solid and it started charging.  . Let it charge for about 2 hours then decided to see if it works.  Yes!  But then noticed as soon as it was up and running battery starts decreasing and went all the way to dead...  I have tried all the things mentioned on this and other boards to no avail. I am thinking class action may get some attention from Lenovo.  Any thoughts?

Hello,

I seem to be having an intermittent "Not Charging" issue on my Lenovo Yoga 900.

It usually happens when it's fully charged and I unplug it for a few minutes and then plug it back in. If I let it drop below 93-95% it will usually say "Plugged in, charging" again.

Is this some sort of glitch, or a feature? I tried looking to see if I had the "conservation" setting on, and I do not.

I have a few days to take it back to the store if I need to. I'd really rather not send it in because we have problems with couriers dropping off packages that end up getting stolen because we live in an apartment with multiple locked doors, so they usually pitch it beside the door and run off and then someone else takes off with our stuff. Had it happen a couple of times with Amazon orders. (grr)

Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

Answer:Yoga 900 - Battery plugged in, not charging.

Good day and welcome to the community. This is my experience with my Yoga 900 and Yoga 900S. This way the system isn't trying to constantly top off 1 or 2%, which is not good for the battery. By contrast, Conservation Mode will charge to ~60% and then stop. That has some benefits, also. Personally, I'm not using Conservation Mode, and so far I've not seen any negative effects on my batteries.

Hoipe this helps.Regards.

I've combined several discussions into one because there are multiple cross-overs of symptoms.

After reviewing all the posts, I see there are two types of problems discussed:

Battery charging but only to a certain percentage
Battery intermittently charging

Several people have reported success with their limited battery percentage problem by following the solutions suggested by MarinM and Vladtech.

For the intermittent charging, several people have reported that sometimes the battery charges, sometimes it doesn't. I'd like to dig into these reports. I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

When does it charge, when does it not?
Are there any patterns to this?
Does swapping electrical outlets make a difference?
Does the USB 2.0 charging port appear loose?
Does the cable show any signs of damage?
Does the AC adapter show any signs of damage?
When a second device is plugged into the extra USB port on the AC Adapter, does this impact Y3P charging?
Are there any battery error messages?

Thank you for your help,

Hi  I upgraded to Windows 10 and ever since then my laptop battery is not charging. I am a computer illiterate and travelling at the moment so can not even seek my IT departments help. The problem is that the battery shows 1% charge and when connected it to AC the laptop works well - as soon as I disconnected, it goes into hibernate. The symbol for AC connection does show so the laptop is detecting the charger. Along with this I keep on getting a battery calibration suggestion and says that I have not calibrated my battery in a long long time - although I do it every time it shows up. So I dont know what that is. Before the Windows 10 upgrade, my laptop on a 100% charge was giving me up to 6 hours of usage so I doubt there's anything wrong with the battery physically.  Would appreciate an experts advice on this. Please speak to me as you would to a 4 year old as like I said I'm completely computer illiterate!  Thanks & Regards

Starting recently whenever my yoga 2 13 battery starts to get low and I plug it in to charge say at around 10-20%, the battery suddenly drops down to 0% and says "plugged in, charging" but doesnt actually charge. And if I unplug it, the computer instantly powers down and the only way to get it to charge is to shut it down and than turn it back on again. Please help was wondering if this was an issue with my yoga 2 13's battery or the charger or even something else entirely.

I also have started having this issue with my Yoga 2 11.Actually just now as I'm typing this message the problem occured. After registering, it seems to charge after dropping to 0%, but my battery was originally at around 40%  I'd rather not have my battery drop every time i plug it in.Note: Also seems to be charging really fast after holding a 0% charge for a while. My Yoga 500 won't charge. I can't even unplug the laptop for a second now or it shuts off completely.  Incidentally, the battery was replaced by Lenovo after I sent it in about 3 months ago because it was faulty. Answer:Yoga 13 and battery is plugged in, not charging.

What is the charge level? If it is more than 60%, then the battery will start charging when battery level goes below 60%. This would be valid if the battery setting has been set to maximum lifespan in energy management. If optimize for runtime had been selected and it still doesnt charge or in the eatlier option below 60% it is not charging, then you would have to take laptop to support.

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

I am a new user for the Yoga S1, but I was wondering if it is possible to turn off battery charging.  I mainly use my laptop at a desk (so I rarely leave it unconnected from Power Plug).  I know this is bad for the battery.  On a dell that I own (Inspiron 14z) i can turn off battery charging when the laptop is plugged into the ac power plug.  Is this possible w/ the lenovo yoga S1?  The closest I've gotten to doing this was seeing an ability to turn off battery charging via BIOS, but that is only temporary (when comp is off and unplugged to switch out battery). Any suggestions woiuld be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i've had my Yoga 3 (11 inch (windows 10)) version for around 18 months, and never had any issues with charging. Over the weekend (23/10/2016) I plugged in my charger, and nothing happened... this worried me, as the laptop only had 6% battery, and if it was a driver problem, this could be very tricky to fix on a dead laptop. My original thoughts were the cable has somehow broken (despite being in perfect condition), and eventually after moving the cable and carefully pushing it into the laptop even further it started to charge! I decided to see if there were new drivers available for my model, and "coincedentally" a new power management driver was released on 23/10/2016! I tried to install this driver, but as soon as the tool starts to run within a milisecond it closes itself.. So my questions are... 1) Do you think its hardware or driver issue? After messing with the lead, the laptop does charge if you bend the wire in a certain direction making me think it's a hardware issue.2) If its a driver issue, (which the driver update coincedence points to).. Can anyone help me install the driver? http://support.lenovo.com/fr/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1170/downloads/DS10... Any help on this would be greatly appreaciated. Thankscnagra

A few weeks ago, my Yoga 2 Pro entered a permanent "plugged in, charging" state whether plugged in or running on just the battery. The battery drains as normal, it just always shows the plugged in icon. It also charges as normal. When I turn it off, the "plugged in" LED remains lit even after I unplug the power cord. Anyone else have similar issues? I'm tempted to rewrite the BIOS and see if this fixes it. Thanks for the help!

Hi, i bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 machine 3 days ago, and now the battery is discharging and when i plug the power cord the battery icon shows me the "plugged in not charging" message. The problem began last night. I've read some forums, and tried changing the battery configuration to this or that, nothing works. I've also read that in 65% the battery will start to charge. It doesn't, i'm currently in 56% and discharging. The problem began after a Windows 8 update, so I'm suspecting the OS is the problem....  I dont know what will happen when the battery discharge completely.... but i will discharge it and tell here what happens... Help!!!

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 13, Battery "plugged in not charging"

Hi iperich,

Thanks for posting in the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to advise you to try to turn on the machine using the Ac-Adapter only without the battery to make sure if the Ac-Adapter is charging and working fine,

If the charger is working fine let me ask you to try to uninstall the Lenovo energy management application and then try to refresh the system and then try to install the software back again and then  check the battery icon status,

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Regards

Hi!My Yoga 500-15ISK Laptop seems to have a battery issue. For some time now, whenever I plug my laptop into the AC power, I get this message, e.g. "(% charge) available, (plugged in, charging)", however for some reason, the battery level actually stays the same even after a significant amount of time of being plugged in to the AC supply. Moreover, the battery icon initially shows the animated one which indicates charging is indeed in progress, then after a few moments, it will freeze on the estimated level. Before this, my laptop's battery usually charges relatively quickly. Also, I have not turned on the Conservation Mode so it must charged up beyond 50-60% especially if I leave it plugged in overnight. This issue is really bewildering me right now. Any comments or suggestions on how I can address this issue? Thanks!Other notes re my laptop:It's been around 10 months since I've bought it and I have encountered this issue only a few days ago.I have no other issues with it.

Hello, My recently bought Thinkpad Yoga 14 recently had this strange problem going on. The battery goes down, even when the AC cord is plugged in. The battery message says "plugged in, not charging". What exactly is the problem, and how do I fix it? The laptop came with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you! ??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

As I'm typing this now im running on about 20% battery and dropping. I've had my Z710 Ideapad for almost 2 years now. within these 2 years I've replaced the battery twice, got 3 new adapters, and had sent it in for the factory to basiclly gut it and replace it with graphics drives that were inferior to the previous ones.  So needless to say Its really annoying that now my biggest problem is that my laptop now will randomly stop charging randomly, regardless of if its on or off.

So no it's not charging too and when you want to watch a film or something without ac adapter laptop is truns off autmatically. So for what i should be angry? Answer:Yoga 13 Battery stuck at 60% "Plugged in, not charging" after updating to Windows 8.1

Go into Lenovo Energy Manager > click on the menu button > Settings tab > turn OFF conservation mode. This setting is designed to help conserve the health of your battery if you tend to use your laptop while plugged in.  It's not good for the battery to be held at 100% for long periods of time, so instead this setting stops chargins when the battery reaches 60% to prevent battery damage.

I usually use my Yoga 2 Pro with AC Adapter plugged in. I turn on Conversation mode in Lenovo Energy Manager and get a message of "Plug in - Not Charging" everytime the battery is already 60% charged. Does it mean that AC electricity will directly serve to run the laptop without going through the batttery like a desktop computer?
I'm worried this habit will ruin my battery lifetime.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Does Plug in - Not Charging on Conversation Mode harm the battery?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Yes, when the charge level reaches 60% and you receive that message it means the battery is no longer receiving a charge and the laptop is being powered by the AC adapter.

No, using conservation mode will actually extend the health of your battery which means the battery will have a longer life time.   It is the continually charging when the battery's charge level reaches 100% level that will shorten the life of the battery.

Amy_Lenovo The BIOS fix does not work for all users. This subject can not be closed. It did not work for me. I got two rapid fire errors that went too quickly to read, however the third stayed on the screen and read "please insert system battery." It appears the battery is no longer recognizable.  My YP3 has been plugged in and "charging" for 15 hours now and still at 0%. Device thinks it's charging but it's not. Callibration has been "in progress for 12 hours. Not yet complete. Last successful calibration took 6 hours.  Please advise.  Dr. Cindy

Answer:Yoga 3 Battery Charging BIOS Fix Does Not Work - Attention "Amy_Lenovo".

Amy, It appears as though the attempt to find out why the BIOS fix isn't working is being ignored. I will continute to document for any other action moving forward. Called phone tech again. They still have no information or can't explain what the problem is. No one has told them that the battery issue is a problem. This morning upon opening battery was at 40% plugged in. It is discharging not charging while plugged in. Indicator tells me the laptop will be fully charged in 883 hours 23 minutes, then 1041 hours and 3 minutes, then 550 hours.  Phone tech or shipping to service would be an option but only IF they have any idea what's wrong or at the very least are aware that this forum exists and can review problems and fixes. Until then we are looking for answers here and document  Please advise.

No Effect. 2) Open up the backside, remove the battery cable (and battery), remove the power cable, and power discharge by pressing the power button. Turn on the laptop using just the Power cable. No Effect. 3) Remove the heatsink, clean it and then reapply the Thermal paste. No Effect. 4) Remove the hard disk and then try turning on. No Effect.  Despite trying all these steps, the effect is still the same. I honestly do not ahve any idea what to do now. Can anyone suggest something?  Any help would be appreciated!Thank You!

I just received my Yoga 3 Pro-1370 Laptop from the Lenova Repair Center - this was the 2nd service request for the battery issue.  The laptop battery still does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet.  Sometimes the charging indicator light will indicate that it is charging - but charges 10 - 15 seconds and goes off.  Confirmed the battery is not charging even though the light is not on just to be sure the issue is not with the power indicator light.  At this point the Lenova Repair Center has had possession of my laptop longer than I have in 2017.  Not sure where to turn to, Call Center/Support seems to be encountering problems and can't log a Service Call?   Seriously, I was asked to schedule a call for them to call me when their systems are up?  Laptop is under warranty, but I'm beginning to think they are trying to run out the clock. I'm typing fast - as Battery Life is below 10%   Any and all suggestions are welcomed.Regards.

It looks like the problem is pretty the same as with "Ideapad Z400 or Z500 battery will not charge - plugged in not charging". My battery worked fine when the OS was Vista , Windows 8, but after windows 8.1 installation it was "plugged but no charging". I already have reinstalled the windows, nothing happened. I tried to install the same firmware as Z500, but it isn't work. Lenovo Solution Center displays battery as "Battery software not installed". Downloading and running Settings Dependency Package does not help. I can't find a new firmware in any place  Please Help! By the way, I checked my windows version, and it appears Windows 8 Pro (like it was before I tried to upgrade to win 8.1)

Hi, I suddenly encountered a battery problem in my laptop, IdeaPad Y510P. It seems like other folks have the same problem in Ideapad series.   When I plug in a charger, the laptop shows that battery is charing but, it never goes above 7% (w/ max battery life mode). According to Energy Management, battery status is fine.  After searching similar issues, I think it may be a problem with firmware, but I was not able to find a firmware update for IdeaPad series, Windows 8.1.... I have been using my laptop over a year, but never had this problem before. Can you please guide me through how to fix this issue?  Thanks for your help..!

After that reboot and install it back and see if there is a difference specially on the battery status. Also basing on your statement that the unit is with you for more than a year and you have not encountered any problem except recently it would seem that a battery replacement might be in order. Again before jumping into conclusion check the ac adapter and battery based on the procedure given in your hardware maintenance manual.

Normally battery is charged in one hour or so but today it took more than one hours to reach only 24% or so. Furthermore, soon after plugging in, battery icon shows "filling in process" for few seconds then stopped i.e no filling in process. Furthermore, after whole night charging, battery is now 94% charged, battery 2: 100% charged, fully charged; battery 1: 0% charged, not charging (please attached images). Please guide how to get rid of this problem?Thanking in advance. Shahid

Things have been good with my Yoga 3 pro until this weekend. Battery life was a good 5-6 hours, but after a recent windows update it appears the battery will no longer charge. It shows plugged in and charging and shows increasing charge but after un plugging it will dim the screen as if it's in power save and then die within 10-15 minutes. I reverted to before the update but that did not solve the problem. It happened all of a sudden so I assumed it was related to the update. Please help, love the machine but this makes it unusable.

I have looked around and found topics about charging problems with the Yoga 13, but none were my specific issue   I am curious is anyone else has experienced this problem.    I am running Windows 8.1 and all drivers are updated.   A couple of days ago I opened up my yoga and noticed the battery was at 72%.  If you look at the status bar it showing "plugged in, charging".   I didn't think much of it at the time and unplugged and used it for a while and plugged it back in.  It again says "plugged in, charging".   The yoga has been stuck on 40% capacity and still says "plugged in, charging" for about a week now.   I have tried chanign the Energy Managment settings, but that does not make any difference.   I have also tried running the "Battery Gauge Reset" and that fails to execute as well since nothing seems to be able to recharge the battery even though the health status is reported as good. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Answer:Yoga 13 charging problem

hi lenkoop,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

From your observation, I suspect a faulty battery. If the system is still under warranty, it will be best if you contact lenovo for service as the battery is not a Customer Replaceable Unit as discussed in this article.

If the unit's already out of warranty though, you may try to:
1. Reseat the battery (you will need to unplug the battery from the systemboard via a battery cable).
2. If same problem, you may need to replace the battery with the following:

FRU#: 121500093
Type: U3S SP/A L10M4P12 14.8V54WH 4CELLBTY EU

You may purchase the battery through Lenovo service or you may google the FRU# and purchase the battery from other merchants.

Answer:U41-70 battery charging problem

 Hi jaketan ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Nowadays battery conservation mode are designed not to reach full charge on battery to extend battery life .
There are also software that would be able to maintain such settings like Lenovo Energy Management.

You may set power option to set either Energy to high performance or via Windows Power option.
You may also uninstall the energy ,manager software if you think such feature is not needed for your usage.

Update us how it goes.

And the usage time of battery is also around 4 hrs of usage time. it think this would be due to wrong battery indication level. pls help me to reach the solution against this problem.

Answer:11e battery or charging problem?

Try this Youtube fix I found. You may have to modify the procedure a bit, as it says to unplug the charging cord and then do a few things. You said that yours turns off as soon as you do that. FIXED! Windows 10 Plugged In, Not Charging Modification to the above procedure: 1) Uninstall the two drivers in device manager as shown in the video 2) Shut down computer, not restart, hibernate, sleep, log out or whatever, SHUT DOWN 3) Take out the charger, plug it back in after 5 seconds 4) Turn on the computer and it should be charging.

I have owned this laptop since March 2015 and almost right away I started having problems of the sort that it would charge up to 80% and then stop, it would give me the message 80% battery and not charging. I thought it might be a problem with windows 8.1 so I waited for windows 10 to come out and did the upgrade. No change at all so I used Energy Manager to restore the battery charge indicator, it took half a day to finish and now the battery only charges up to 60% and then stops. If I unhook the charger the battery only lasts about half an hour before going flat. What's to be done?? thanksJ.

hi. i am having problems with the battery in this laptop after starting for the first time. i purchased this laptop as a gift for my partner over a year ago but have only recently had the time to set it up for her. the battery is connected properly but will not take a charge. the charge status is always 0% and if i hovver over the battery indicator the message (plugged in, not charging) is displayed. the laptop is working fine when the power adaptor is plugged in, although the led next to the adaptor port is constantly white. on my two pavillion laptops the led is amber when charging (i think). is this a faulty battery? id return it to the shop id bought it from but its warranty has expired.

I got a strange problem may be that is why I couldn't find its solution anywhere. Here is the problem. When I plug my charger to my laptop's charging hole it does not start charging straightaway unless i push it in or force my laptop towards the wall so that there is a push towards the end of the charger going into the laptop. If the push is sufficient then I can see that my laptop is being charged but thats not true because when it shows that the battery has been charged by indicating green light and is on AC Power if i unplug the charger after like 10 mins the battery runs out and my laptop hibernates that means though it is showing me that it is charging the battery its not actually charging it. Also to use the laptop on AC Power i have to keep the same force/push otherwise it shuts down. Another interesting thing is if i keep my laptop on my lap instead of on the floor or any surface or table i dont have to give that push or force but the problem still arises that it doesnt charge my battery though indicates but still i have to give a little push to it even on the lap so that it sticks into the charging holeCan anyone plz tell me what is really wrong? Is it a problem with that charging hole or the battery? The charger is fine as i have tried it with other laptops n i dont have to give any push. Thanks everyone

Answer:Battery charging problem.

Looks to me that there is a fault with the laptops charging socket. If you have the laptop on your knees and the power charger is on the floor then the downward force from the cable gives a better connection. If the battery charges when you push the connector in or have some kind of force on the jack then it will be wear on the input socket.

My battery does not load on my pc with the docking station either, but it loads perfectly on my other pc.Is it the motherboard or something else? T60 2007 - CTO Thanks for your help

Answer:battery charging problem

if the battery doesn't charge in your laptop but charges in other laptop, then the problem must be occurring in this laptop's hardware. Did have a liquid spill recently.

Hello there,I have a 14-inch Lenovo Yoga 500, and it seemed to be working perfectly fine until now, since the charging port is literally unusuable. To begin with, the issue was very minor and turning the cable around or moving it would fix the problem. However, as time went on, it became harder for me to plug the charging cable, because the laptop wouldn't respond. After a while, I realised that there was a sweet spot and I managed to cope with that, but the laptop would still cycle between charging and not charging which meant that the laptop was charging at a slower rate. Unfortunately, now it has become impossible for me to use my laptop, because I have to spend a lot of time playing with the cable in order to get my laptop charged, but the problem was that even the SLIGHTEST touch would interrupt the flow and the laptop would shut down. Now I think that there isn't a way that I can adapt to this situation, because it keeps getting worse... I read online and some people said that Lenovo can change the motherboard if the laptop is still in warranty, which unfortunately isn't the case here. So now, I'm quite stuck and unsure of what to do. I really would appreciate any help towards my problem and if you can tell me how much it would cost to change the motherboard, or fix it by an easier or more efficient way. Thanks for any help in advice,Koce.EDIT: I have also tried out different cables, but the result was the same.

Hi. I have a Compaq 1210US laptop running on Win XP. Once the battery is fully charged, the battery indicator light is supposed to turn off. What happens in my case is that the indicator light keeps flashing on and off slowly even after 12 hours of charging with the power off (still plugged in of course).

Under Power Options in Control Panel, the batter says it's 100% charged but also says it's still charging. Under Power Options, I've selected Never under every scheme, turned off hibernation and drained the battery completely, then fully recharged it several times but I still get the same issue.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

Weird thing happened the other day. I had my laptop off the charger running on battery power for a short while. I decided to charge the battery, so I plugged it back to the AC adapter. I checked on it a couple of hours later and the charge had not moved from the 80% it was at when I plugged it in. I then thought my battery was going bad so I replaced it with my spare battery which was at only 20%. I let that sit for a few hours and when I checked on it, it also had not charged a bit. I then thought it must be my adapter. I have a few of these and tried all of them throughout the next couple of days and none of them charged either battery as well. Also, when I remove the battery with the laptop plugged in, my laptop stays on. Therefore, I feel it is not the battery or the charger so what could it be? My laptop is a Dell Latitude C640. Please help!

Answer:Battery charging problem/issue

Must be the connection between the AC and battery that isn't talking.

Not sure what the solution is. If AC wasn't working at all, I'd suggest resoldering the PSU. But as it plain just doesn't charge, I'd send it into Dell. If it is under warranty, that is.

Edit: If you exhaust the battery, bringing it down to 0%, will it then recharge?

i have done some settings in my samsung r528 regarding power options as it says that these settings will charge the battery 80% only and this will increase the battery life...and now its charging only 80%....and now i want it to charge 100%.....please tell me what settings to be done to get 100% charged battery...thnks in advance.

Answer:problem faced in battery charging............

Reverse what you did. Did you print out or write down the original settings and/or the changes? You should have copied/printed both with a change like that!!If not then contact the factory support and get the correct settings from them. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

One more issue is my battery won't charger 100%, it stucks at 99% (cannot performe gauge reset in case because for gauge reset it must go to 100%) and when battery level come close to 30% it shows me 7% and shutdown. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a gateway T-6815 laptop. The power chord tip broke and so I purchased a new power supply chord. The computer works fine but would not charge the battery so I bought a new battery and it still is not charging. The light on the computer that indicates it is charging the battery is not on and the icon at the bottom right of the screen says plugged in not charging. Anyone one have a suggestion of what is wrong Thank you Dan

Answer:laptop battery charging problem

My first suspect would be the new charger cord does not match the one you replaced.

Hey,
I have a toshiba satellite A60 notebook. My notebook is 2 years old. After I used my laptop in battery mode, it fell out because the battery was empty. When I plugged it in on the net, the battery led flashed amber for less than a second and went out again. The battery won't charge anymore and the batteryled is out.

Windows detects the battery though. The laptop still keeps running on the battery for some minutes. I already had this problem a year ago and after a few months the battery started charging again.

Does anyone have a simular problem and how do you solve it?

Thanks (sorry for the bad english)

Answer:Satellite A60: battery charging problem

Hi

Possibly the battery cannot charge properly because it has a malfunction.
Generally the battery performance decreases in process of time.
I read that you can charge and discharge the battery about 500 times and then the performance goes down.
You can try to remove the battery for a several time. After this time try to charge it.
I would also recommend checking if this issue happens also with a new battery.

But it?s also possible that there is something wrong with the power supply electronic.
This could have a bad influence on the charging procedure.
I have also read that the BIOS update have solved some battery charging problems.
But if the battery charging has worked since 2 years so I assume the BIOS is ok.

However, check it with a new battery.

Hello,

I've noticed that my laptop does not shift well when charging is complete. It means that instead of switching from ambar to green the light goes off and the computer begins using the batterys even if windows says it's on AC power. Do you think it's a defect or a bios update will do ? When a do a shutdown the charging will begin again

Thanks

Answer:M30X-128 - Battery charging problem

Hi

In my opinion BIOS update can not solve the problem. I assume that there is some hardware problem. Normally the notebook should works without battery connected just on AC power adapter. Please try this and report again what happen.

It is possible that the power supply electronic is defective.

Hi there,

I have a Samsung NP530uc3 that seems to have a dead battery. The machine is about 2 years old or thereabouts. Just want to see if anybody has any tips for me before directly trying to replace the battery.

Basically it was working fine and then suddenly I got a message saying "The battery is not operating under normal condition. Replacing the battery pack is highly recommended. If the adapter is removed in current state. You may lose your data. Please save your data immediately. The battery pack is consumerable device. This pack is not working correctly or life is ended. Please stop using the battery or replace it for your safety."

Now, naturally that error seem pretty damning. However I had battery bar installed, and also downloaded batteryinfo tool, and it indicates that the battery wear level is only 60.7%, and further, the 'rate of charge' under battery bar indicates 0mw - perhaps leading me to think it is a problem with the charger itself?

I did some searching and a few suggested solutions were: unplug and clean everything, which I did to no avail. I also uninstalled the batteries under 'device manager -? batteries' and scanned for new devices however this did not solve the problem. Windows itself doesn't give the 'considering replacing your battery' warning either, but just says 'plugged in, not charging' (stuck at 33%). If I unplug the power cord, the machine dies completely. And I can't start it without the cable in either. The batter... Read more

Answer:Battery problem: Plugged in, not charging

well if it runs with the charger plugged in and dies when unplugged I think it would be the battery causing the issue, seems to be a common issue for all laptops.

I have a U450p that is a little over 2 years old.  It recently began to stop  charging while still plugged in.  When it does this, the power button flashes on an off.  If I unplug the charger from both the wall and the computer, wait a couple of minutes, and then plug it again, it continues to take the charge without a problem for the forseeable future (until I unplug the computer again to take it somewhere).  If I only unplug the charger from the computer (and leave it plugged into the wall), this will keep happening every 30 seconds of so.   Anyone know what the problem could be?

Answer:Battery charging problem- U450p

Hi, I think I had an identical problem. I just bought a replacement charger to see if that was the problem, but it does the same thing. My laptop is about a year and half old. I am tempted to buy a new battery to see if that is the problem, though I worry that it could also be the port in the laptop itself--I only think this because my audio port completely died two months ago too and am starting to feel like the whole thing is a bit flimsy.... Another thought I had is that it might be some kind of software issue, some kind of battery control issue? I've uninstalled all the different programs for charging up and it hasn't helped. I'd consider reinstalling windows if I could find a CD... Hope that's at least slightly helpful!

Hi, So out of the blue my Yoga 13 seized up while sitting at the start menu in Windows 8.1. I had to kill the local svc host which had accumulated over 2GB of ram... just so I could shutdown the machine,  but when I shutdown some craziness started. The power wouldn't turn off even after 20 minutes. I held it down forever and finally it did turn off (maybe the shutdown was incredibly prolonged). I did also flash the bios after this craziness, to the one on the suggested download site (version 55).  At any rate, that's when the problems really started: I got the plugged in not charging issue in windowsThe battery charging light no longer turns on when plugged in (though the battery is charging). The novo button doesn't work.Unauthorized battery messagePower button wasn't responsive when off. It took several minutes for it to register. I of course have tried, from the forums: Letting the battery run down to zero/Shutting down the power from the bios. The latter fixed the unautorized battery problem.Uninstalling/Reinstalling Lenovo energy management. This does allow the battery icon in windows to show charging above 90%... sometimes.Turned off fast boot in windows and bios. The problem with the power button not responding when off is much, much less in frequency now.Making sure that Maximum Battery was selected in Energy Management.Resetting the battery guageI reflashed my bios to version 55 with the default fan profiles located in a Lenovo KB article...
