Yoga 2 Pro USB Port 3.0 and Bluetooth Problems Issues

Question: Yoga 2 Pro USB Port 3.0 and Bluetooth Problems Issues

About 2 weeks ago my USB 3.0 port stopped working, after reading the comments on the interenet i presume this is from the Windows 8.1 update. I tried at first to sort it out myself by trying to uninstall and reinstall the port, I updated by BIOS, went through all the Device Manager and BIOS setup options to make sure it was working, and double checked windows updates. I am not particulary tech savvy but I thought this could not be too hard, as I it still lights up my external hardrive, it just does not detect it. So I know it is not physical damage.I then contacted Lenovo support who told me quite a few people were having this issue and that all I needed to do was download the updated Chipset and Intel Management Driver software. Clearly this guy had not heard of automatic updates and low and behold it did not work. I then rang back and the next guy was so inaudible due to his accent that I literally could not be bothered to ask him to repeat evey sentence, which was the first 5 minutes of our conversation. In my device manager I have an unknown device called USB Root Hub (xHCI), when I try to update the driver it says it cannot find any suitable match. I know this hub is the one to detect USB drives, so I don't understand why it will not find a driver.Around the same time I also noticed that my Bluetooth does not work properly! So I have attempted to sort this out as well. I installed the latest Bluetooth driver from the Lenovo website and then "wallah" my Bluetooth dissappeard all together. I then unistalled this from programs and renistalled it and it still did not work. So now I have no Bluetooth either, which makes sense. So in device manger I have an unknown device which i think is the bluetooth but it says a file is missing when it trys to update/repair the driver. Lenovo seem to be ignoring all these issue. So what do I do lenovo users/support?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I am an IT Technician for an electric cooperative. I am having a very odd issue that I can not seem to resolve and I am in need of assistance.

We have 4 Dell Latitude notebooks all running XP and we also have some very high end GPS units made by Trimble that we are going to be using to stake out points on a map. Whenever I connection through bluetooth with the GPS I am able to pair but the GPS control software never recognizes it when I chose the COM port assigned to it. Whenever I connect it directly through a cable(serial to usb) it never detects it either.

However this is the odd part, when I test this on my desktop I am able to connect just fine with the exact same method.

Any ideas?

Answer:[SOLVED] COM port and bluetooth COM port connection issues

Are you aware of any differences in your Desktop and the laptops? Like Service Pack is different, or maybe a BIOS setting?

Hi everyone. Ever since updating to Windows 8.1 my Bluetooth on my Yoga 13 no longer works. I had issue with numerous drivers since the update, but this is the only one that refuses to be fixed. I have tried the drivers on the Lenovo page but they have not worked. Has anyone had success with Bluetooth after Windows 8.1 and care to lend some advice? Thanks!

Hello,I have had a Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) for over a year now.  A couple months ago I purchased a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse. Ever since I've been in a bluetooth twilight zone of bizarre behavior.  It will work and then cut out.  Some times it will be recognized but not work at all.  Other times it will be recognized and not pair properly.  I've combed through the forums and have tried:- Switch the settings to prevent the computer from shutting off the device due to power management (this did help but did not solve all of the problems).- Upgraded to the newest Lenovo driver on the Lenovo website (installed but refused to recognize any bluetooth device).- Uninstalled and upgraded to the newest driver on the Intel website (crashed when trying to install)- Uninstalled and reversed back to original Lenovo driver on D drive.- I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wifi driver.  The first time this worked... the second time nothing. So where am I now?   All of the devices show up fine in the Device Manager.  The mouse is discoverable but won't pair. And I guess I'm out of ideas as to what to try next.  From reading the forums I guess it seems like I'm not the only one suffering from bluetooth issues with the Yoga 2 Pro.  But thought that I might as well post to see if perhaps there is someone out there who has an idea that I haven't already tried. Or perhaps someone from Lenovo could reply... Whatever I do, I can't seem to get bluetooth working on my Y2P.  I installed the latest ones from Lenovo's site, I tried using the generic drivers, I tried getting the latest ones from Intel... still no luck. If I use the generic ones, I get a code 43 error in Device Manager.  If I try Lenovo's or Intel's it starts the device fine but Windows itself doesn't even think I have a bluetooth device. What is going on?

Yoga 13 Bad Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ? almost giving up (and giving back) I have purchased the Yoga 13 a week ago, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, I experienced problems to connect to the public Wi-Fi. I get  5 seconds of Wi-Fi connected, and then 5 seconds of "limited connection", and again "connected" for 5 sec., "limited" for 5 sec., and so on. I convinced myself it was because of the large number of people connected at the place I have been at. But now I am sitting here, with just a few people, and it seems they are all connected well, and only I get the 5 seconds cycle.  But it wasn't for this issue that I started to feel frustrated with my 1 week old Lenovo Yoga. It's the Bluetooth issue that really bothers me. I am trying to use Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000 mouse. I have to use it, since I have to use both USBs for other devices. At first it worked fine. Just the random disconnections everyone on the net are talking about. I tried everything: I set the power management of the realtek  rtl8723A chip so it won't be able to turn off the BT. I also set the BT to automatically search for devices under services.msc management, which supposed to help reconnection after sleep. Each time it seemed like the problem was solved, until the next time it randomly disconnected. So I have updated my machine. First, I've updated the BIOS from CN52 to CN55. I don't know if it's relevant, but I mention it anyway. Them I've updated the realtek drivers, according to th... Read more

The WiFi goes into a bad state if I stream audio via BlueTooth.  By going bad,  means I can't seem to ping anything on my local network including the gateway, but everything else seems OK (routes, IP adressed , etc).  The BlueTooth keeps functioning.  If I reconnect the Wifi, it works for a few seconds before going down again.  Something is wrong, but I can't figure out what.

X1 Yoga running Win 7 x64 In Device Manager, a Generic Bluetooth Adapter device comes up with the typical yellow exclamation point. "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The event log has a bunch of entries with event ID 17:The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded. When I re-install the BT drivers, the correct two devices show up in Device Manager and the Bluetooth icon shows up in the taskbar. But after a reboot everything is back to a failed state. Any idea what's going on here? Anyone having the same issue?

Hi, Since today I'm unable to enable/disable plane mode on windows 8 (it looks like plane mode is enabled but the visual switch automatically returns to it's default position). As a consequence, wifi is disabled and I'm unable to move the wifi switch button to the enable state (state is set to inactive). I had to use the "Diagnose and repare" button from the network panel to re-enable the WiFi. After some investigations, I finally found that is issue is caused by the bluetooth that cannot be disabled when my Yoga is associated with my Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard. As this issue totally breaks the "plane mode", If someone has a solution (or maybe an explanation) to allow bluetooth disabling other than removing bluetooth link with this device, I'm really interested.

Reset BIOS Settings to default to remedy a display issue and when I booted back into windows, Wifi and USB were disabled completely along with many other services.  Lenovo chat support suggested they send me the original Windows 8 Pro disc and re-image, or I send it in for repair under the warranty.  Fiddled around some more and fixed the issue. On this model you have to Spam the "Enter" key at bootup to access the Startup Pause Menu and then Press F1 to enter BIOS.   Upon resetting the BIOS to it's defaults the I/O Ports were set to "Disabled".  To remedy this do the following:  BIOS >  Security Tab > I/O Port Access >  "Enable" all fields. This was the quick fix I was looking for and I ended up finding it out myself.  Hopefully, this can help someone else in the future.  I didn't think to look under the "Security" tab in BIOS for port, wifi, bluetooth issues... but now I know.  #KnowingIsHalfTheBattle.  Cheers. -Rahb

So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! LOLS!Any suggestions? Thanks! And for the record I have no wifi issues and I've upgraded to 8 gigs of ram so I'm keeping this!!!

Answer:Yoga 13 Bluetooth Issues (Headphone Connection)

I haven't tried using a Bluetooth headset with Windows, but check: 1.  Right-click on the sound tray icon, select Playback devices.  Does it show a 2nd bluetooth headset device in addition to Speakers?  If so, left-click on it and try the "Set Default" dropown menu on the bottom to make it the Default device (or some other option that works better). 2.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933144 3.  http://www.computing.net/answers/hardware/making-bluetooth-headset-default-audio-device/87178.html

Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues? Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

Okay so I normally use my cellphone as a modem when I'm out.
I dial in through AT&T's connection... but that's not really relevant.

I was messing with another dial-up modem, and in the process, lost the connection data, and now the whole thing's gone south. I deleted the connection (from network connections in windows) and have since been unable to re-create it.
The thing just won't contact the bluetooth modem at all. Doesn't even make an effort to.

NO matter what dialing information I put in for the dial-up connection, it doesn't even contact the bluetooth modem (the phone) at all. It just immediately fails.

Someone said to try querying the modem. That fails, and gives me an error that "The port that the modem is using is currently open by another application."

What could cause this? What am I doing wrong?

Using Windows Vista, standard bluetooth manager in windows, no special applications.

Try this. Go to device manager and select the Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 + HS Adaptor. Select it's properties tab and uninstall the device driver (don't select remove files). Then reboot and the driver will reinstall itself. I have had a couple occassions where the bluetooth device disables itself and this has always worked.

I've just installed Vista on my Portege M400, and installed all the drivers on the Vista driver page.
But I've got several issues...

1: The bluetooth doesn't work. I can't find anywhere in the control panel anything about a bluetooth connection or anything else.

2: After installing all the drivers on the Vista driver page, there was 2 "Unknown Device"'s in Device Manager. I can't find any information about what these devices are. However when I manually tried to install the bluetooth driver on the first of these "Unknown Device"'s it accepted the driver. This doesn't work on the other one. And it didn't solve the problem of the missing bluetooth.

3: The tablet function itself works fine - the stylus and all. But when I turn the screen into tablet mode it doesn't change the screen layout. Nor does the buttons on the lower part of the screen work.

I hope that there's some kind of solution for these problems - And that someone can help me.

Hello Folks,After having received a new Yoga 3 14 yesterday I noticed that there were a lot of screen ghosting issues, especially when using high contrast apps or leaving apps on the screen. Even when the system is booting the afterimages are there and persistent, and continue to build on top of each other. I have already rolled back and updated the graphics card, updated the BIOs, installed the firmware update to fix ghost touches etc. but the afterimages of chrome and the taskbar and explorer windows remain, only leaving the computer off for several hours solves but I don't believe that to be a pragmatic solution. If anyone else has had this issue or has fixed it please comment!

Hi

I have a Nokia E65 which used to connect fine to the internet via bluetooth but now using the Nokia PC Suite software i get a port busy or misconfigured message.

I can still transfer files from my phone to the laptop via bluetooth.

I deleted the bluetooth driver and reinstalled it as my bluetooth icon was missing, but had an error message that all hardware was not installed correctly.

I rebooted and ran the bluetooth wizard again and all seemed fine, but the port is still busy.

I can connect via cable fine.

I am running Windows 10 Pro x64 on an HP laptop. I recently had to re-install windows.

I've re-installed my HP printer via USB cable and this is working. However I normally use a bluetooth connection and at present I can't get that to work.

I added bluetooth for the printer (it worked perfectly well before re-installing Windows) but its set up keeps going wrong in various ways depending on which "add printer" route I use.

At present I have two duplicate entries, but different types, in the printer property's list of ports;

BTH001 virtual........ Printer X

BTH001 local Printer X

As I remember the virtual one is correct, but I can't delete the local port - even having stopped printer spooling, it just keeps saying it's in use (no idea for what, I'm not using it).

How can I get rid of this BTH001 type=local port because I think it is causing problems resulting in installation of the bluetooth printer function not working properly?

Hi, I am new to this forum and I have a question when using bluetooth to connect an external device (Blueport XP). This external device requires a serial port for communication, but I don't see the bluetooth on my laptop had assigned a port.

I would like my bluetooth to work as the following mode:
When I search online, I find other people who faced my case have difference hardware (Left is others, right is mine):

They have the "Standard Serial over Bluetooth Link (COMXX)" under the Port catergory, while my "Device manager" don't have a such a Port category.

I think that is the reason when my external device can be successfully connected (using passcode), but still not assigned the com port and thus no later communication. (Left is others, right is mine):

I have checked my laptop configuration, my bluetooth is : Intel 7265 AC/B/G/N Dual Band Wireless + Bluetooth Version 4.0

So my question is: Does my bluetooth not support serial port profile (SPP)?
If it does support SPP, how can I make it work?

Thank you,

Answer:no serial port over bluetooth

Hmm, I don't have much information about this subject but perhaps your laptop needs to support the serial port and not the Bluetooth in particular. Not all laptops have a serial port. Sorry, can't provide anything more in this regard.

However, check How to Create a Bluetooth Virtual Serial Port | eHow. Maybe it will help.

I have several questions regarding bluetooth port assignments and winXP. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to higher port numbers (10-15)? Is there any way to force specific bluetooth port assignments? I am uploading GPS information to a tablet computer running XP Tablet for a navigation program. When I add a bluetooth device (the GPS receiver), it always seems to push the port assignment up above 6. It would be very helpful for me to force a port assignment of 6 or less because I am using Franson GPS Gate as an interface to the nav program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased a Yoga 11 refurb, but was wondering if BT is standard on these devices or an option. I thought I remember seeing BT listed in the spec sheet, but when I got the computer setup I don't see BT option. Thanks

Answer:Yoga 11 no bluetooth?

hi patlex,

If you have the Yoga 11 model that is listed on this pdf data sheet, then yes, it does come with a wireless+blluetooth combo adapter.

To check the adapter, can you try to:
1. Open device manager and check the bluetooth device

2. If the device is there, try to press the F7 (or Fn+F7) and see if you can enable bluetooth.
3. Alternatively, press Windows+C > Settings > Change PC Settings and under the Wireless Menu, see if you can toggle the bluetooth option. (screenshots here)

Let me know your findings.

Ok so I have a wireless Bluetooth device. It has worked fine connected to a windows 7 and 8 computer. Now I am trying it on 10. For the software I wrote for it to work properly I need to be able to specify which COM port it uses when connecting.
In windows 7 and 8 I would then go to "Bluetooth settings", click "New Connection", and then follow the setup wizard. Here I would be able to set the device to be in Dev mode and specify the COM port to always use. In the new windows 10 "Bluetooth settings" program I can not find a way to do this.
Also I have two different "Bluetooth settings" programs show up in the start menu. One I can open up and it will show my device, but I am unable to do what I mentioned above. The other program with this name has the same icon as what is on my Windows 7 and 8 machines, but gives me the error "unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to set up Bluetooth hotsync with a Palm device.  Palm instructs that I need to set up a virtual serial device.  When I go to Bluetooth settings and look and COMM devices, I don't see any port.  When I try to create and incomming port, not port number is given.  I've been unable to get Bluetooth hotsync to work with my Palm and IdeaPad U110. Any ideas?

Answer:How do I set up a virtual serial port for Bluetooth?

Hi ChouDoufu, did you get a reply, or find a way to fix this problem? I'm experiencing exactly the same issue. Moreover, if I go to "My Bluetooth Places" and "View My Bluetooth services", I can see the various services, and even enable some of them such as File Transfer or Bluetooth Imaging. However, I cannot enable Bluetooth Serial Port, which is what I'd need to be able to connect my Palm with my Lenovo. By the way, it works fine with my other computers, just not with this Lenovo T60p... Cheers,ejay

Hi, I have a T61 with XP SP3 and I have problems in defining my Bluetoooth COM-portto be in range COM1-COM6 which is a requirement from my Bluetooth GPS device. The system has defined it to COM16 and this COM-port number is too high for the GPS software. Can someone help me? Device manager, where you can see and choose normally the COM-port number doesnot show any alternative options besides COM16. Many thanks in advance!! - Kim -

Do you have a bluetooth icon in the systray? If you rightclick that icon and select settings is there any settings for that bluetooth device where you can change the com port?I don't have any com ports used by any bluetooth device and neither do i have any computer running XP anymore so cannot remember exactly, but unless i'm wrong it should normally be possible to change somewhere in the bluetooth settings. -gan

I've already seen in this forum that it's a common problem for this model that the plastic tongue of the USB 3.0 port gets broken. But since in my case only a part of the plastic is broken, is it still safe to use that USB port?If not, what are the possibilities to fix it manually by someone who is handy? Or is it better to send it for repair? (I have this device for less than a year, so I assume there's still warranty on it)

left or right depends on which angle you are looking at the laptop. To be safe, its the one directly beside the port where the AC goes in. The USB tongue is in blue. That one is the USB 3.0.Hope that helps.

I'm currently having various problems with the internal Intel® Dualband-Wireless-N 7260 used for wireless lan and bluetooth. First, windows used the generic bluetooth driver, and bluetooth worked just fine. However with this driver the wlan couldn't handle wireless connections >54mbit/s. When I turned bluetooth off it worked without any problem. It seemed like a bluetooth AND a strong wlan connection (f.e. 300mbit/s) was too much.  After installing the latest intel bluetooth driver specific for this hardware (3.1.1311) the wireless lan works now fine with another bluetooth connection. However, now the bluetooth devices range is way too low. Using my headset I now have around 40cm of range, when I turn my head it looses the connection (no sound until I turn it back). With an usb bluetooth adapter I have a range of 10m and more.  Anyone else with this problem?I tried both wireless lan drivers v17 and v16.10.0.

I downloaded the driver from the Lenovo support site for my Yoga 3 1470 but it won't install anything saying "No appropriate driver to install". I tried to manually install the drivers from the subfolders but still no BT detected. Anyone has any idea? Thanks.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem: Occationally when waking the unit from sleep the Bluetooth device stops working. It appears in the Device manager with an "!" on it, but when I disable and re-enable it it works again for a day or two before it happens again. It's not an end of the world sort of problem, but it's kind of annoying. I want to know if I'm the only one, or if it might be a driver issue that needs to be addressed?

Answer:Yoga 13 - Bluetooth issue

hi dumiller, thanks for posting. I was just wondering how long do leave your machine to sleep before waking it up? I too have a yoga but I must admit that I've not used the BT. But however I did face some similar with the wireless. After waking from sleep it has trouble connecting to the wireless. But it turn out that I just needed to be a little patient with the machine as it had to re-establish the wireless connection. It may be the same with the bluetooth.

However, you may also want to consider checking you bluetooth propeties by unchecking specific power saving propeties. This can be done by following the guide bellow.

Go to you bluetooth properties and click on the Bluetooth Tab.
Once there Click on BlueTooth Settings. (See illustrations below)

A new window should have appeared.
Click on the "Hardware" tab.
In the hardware tab select "RTL8723A 4.0+High Speed Chip"
Click on the "Properties Button" Below. (See Illustration below)

On you've clicked on the "Properties" button another window should appear.
Click on the "Power Management" Tab
Ensure to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and "Allow this device to wake the computer." (See illustration below)

hope this helps and do let me on how it goes.

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). No bluetooth option is present in the PC and devices options menu... I even reset to factory settings in case it was an issue with a third party program, but even there, same situation. Am I missing something? Please help me to get this feature working!

Hi,Just purchased and received a P40 Yoga.  Nicely equipped and a very nice machine.I am having two issues out of the box so far, the first of which is problems with Bluetooth. I am using bt to connect to Microsoft Designer mouse and keyboard.  I'm able to connect fine initially and use mouse and keyboard.  Also able to connect to other devices like my iphone, etc no problem. But then at seemingly random times, though it always happens in any extended use of the computer, at least once per hour or so, the mouse and keyboard (and seemingly all bt communication) stop responding.  I can look at the windows bt settings and it still shows as connected but nothing is registering.  When the bt seemingly freezes like this it also does not find any new devices to connect to even when they are discoverable.  Each time this has happened I've tried turning bt off and back on and then reconnecting but no success.  BUT, if I turn airplane mode on ( so turn both bt and wifi off) then the mouse and keyboard will function again.  I've tried turning just the bt off and it seems to not want to switch to off, the toggle will go to off but then switch back to on on its own but still not able to connect.  But if I click the toggle in the bt settings menu a few times, eventually it will turn off and stay off, and then if i turn bt back on again the peripherals start to work again.  Also, if I switch into airplane mode, to turn bt and wifi off, ... WiFi and Bluetooth share the 2.4Ghz band, so they may be conflicitng.   If you can move your Wifi to 5Ghz, it might help, as they would be on a different freqency, but you need a WiFi router and WiFi card that supports it.     Try switching channels on your WiFis too.

Yoga 2 Pro, Windows 8.1. My battery ran flat.  When I powered it back up and charged it (no problem there), my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse didn't work.  In troubleshooting, I found NO BLUETOOTH icon in the toolbar, no Bluetooth in the Device manager.  I had been using the bt136w8164 drivers from the Lenovo web site.  I reinstalled them but still no BT appeared.  I tried uninstalling them, then reinstalling - no luck.  Then tried to install the latest bt247w81 drivers from Lenovo - no luck.  There is no Bluetooth line in the Devices listing, nothing in Device Manager.  The OS isn't seeing or loading the BT drivers.  I used the default locations during installation and I have not moved any locations.  Everything else works normally.  What is going on??

Hi all,Just bought my Yoga yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it. A problem I encountered was when trying to pair the Bluetooth to a Belkin A2DP receiver (essentially, it appears as a Bluetooth audio headset to the computer). Audio quality sent to the speaker is very poor. I verified that the Belkin unit was functioning properly by pairing two other Bluetooth devices and having no issues with audio playback. I also updated to the latest RealTek Bluetooth driver on Lenovo's website. Still with bad audio quality. Any suggestions appreciated :-)

Answer:Yoga 13 - Bluetooth audio

Hi HummerMan3,

Thanks for posting. Sorry hear about the issues you're facing.

I too have a yoga I do agree it is a superb machine. In regards to the bluetooth Audio, Personally I have not tested the bluetooth or the Bluetooth Audio. I was just wondering when you mentioned the audio being really poor, do mean that the sound distorts or does the sound does not play loudly? How about when playing normally on the laptop? Do still get the same results.

Sorry for the list of question, but just wanted to be sure what exactly I'm dealing with.

Do let me know.

I have an Iogear Bluetooth dongle (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1238961&CatId=909)
that I use to make a virtual serial port connection to my LG VX8700 Phone. I have the latest available Iogear software/driver installed, however my virtual serial port connection keeps disconnecting about 1 minute after connecting, if that long. It's connecting and disconnecting is like clock work...it's not intermittent. The blutooth doesn't disconnect cause I can just double click on the serial connection and it immediately reconnects, but not for long. I have googled somewhat but everything I've found is others with the same issues, but apparently no fixes so I haven't found any solutions, so I was just wondering if anyone is aware of this issue, or something I am not doing correctly, and if so...can you point me in the right direction. I have googled till my eyes are bleeding, so I'm loosing my patience. :confused

I am using this on my laptop which is an HP ZD8215 ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...9693&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN ) (17" Media Center 2005, Pent. 4, 1.2 gig of ram)

Hi,

I am using a class 1 bluetooth dongle (unkown manufacturer) with the toshiba bluetooth stack V 8.00.03 Premium, and a bluetooth headset. The specs for the dongle are : Bluetooth V1.2, USB compatible with V1.2/2.0

I have a strange problem when changing the USB the dongle is plugged into. If I change the dongle to another USB port, searching for devices fails. I have tried uninstalling the stack, and of course deleting the device from the bluetooth manager window.

Also, strangely , when I plug the dongle into a USB extension on the same port, it doesnt work either. When I put the dongle back into the same USB port it works fine as usual.

I want to change the USB port so that I can get better reception , as its plugged in at the back at the moment. Also, I want to use the usb extension for the same reason, to bring it out above the desk. Weirdly though,as I say, it doesnt work with the extension (just a regular cable with USB male on one end and female on the other to plug the dongle into.

Is this something to do with voltage drop down a cable? And regarding the changing of the usb ports is this something to do with the bluetooth ports being installed on that USB port only? I dont know exactly how bluetooth ports work so, how they get installed etc.

Thanks very much for any help.

I need help comparing the Yoga 2 Pro and Yoga 13, but I don't mean to compare them by their specs.  Yes, I know Yoga 2 Pro has a better processor, is thinner and lighter, and has a QHD screen, but that's not what I'm looking for. What I want to discuss is not what you find in a typical review.  I want to discuss the issues that people seem to be having with these laptops.   I want to see what issues both of these laptops share and what they don't.  I currently have a Yoga 13, and I'm debating whether I should return it and get a Yoga 2 Pro, but if it has more issues than my Yoga 13, then I don't want to do it. Issues that I know of so far: Yoga 2 Pro  (I've never had this laptop so I'm only going off of what people have been complaining about) Yellow Color Issue (looks musturd / greenish)  (But is fixable, to a point)Wifi Dropping Flickering screen?(Are there more?  I don't know much about the Yoga 2 Pro) Yoga 13 (I've owned this for about 10 days) Weak Wifi  (An issue I have only sometimes)Loud Fan Noise / Fan always on  (Manageable with Notebook Fan Control program)Problems with streaming videos in anything other than laptop mode (My issue)Plugged in but not charging (another issue I ran into)Hinge becoming loose (Hasn't happened to me yet)(What else is there?)  So that's all I know of so far.  What other issues have people run into with these two laptops.  Which laptop's iss... I purchased a refurbished Yoga 13 from the Lenovo outlet in January. The charging port broke shortly after, but it still charged just fine. The center post in the charging port separated from rest of the port. It still works fine to this day, but it won't last forever and I want to get it fixed before my warranty is up. That side of the laptop is separated a little, like  screw isn't attached properly or something and I feel this is most likely the reason it was damaged. Will this be covered under my warranty, and if it is not where do I find a replacement part so I can repair it myself? Thank you.

Answer:Yoga 13 Charger port

hi SephirothWGP,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Physical damages are not usually covered under the warranty (i.e. cracked screen, bent pins, etc.) but in your case, if you think that there's something internal that caused the charging port issue then I recommend you contact lenovo to report the issue (they'll probably ask you to send the unit in for service and have a technician take a look at it to see if it's covered or not).

In the event that it's not covered, you can fix the charing port by replacing the following part:

145500046 - CABLE DC-IN_JACK_MOCHA2_ASSY

You can get spare parts via the lenovo spare parts website - http://www.lenovospareparts.com (if a part is out of stock, click Help on the upper right corner and fillout the contact form for an ETA). Doing a google search should give you third party websites that also sells the same part - like this one.

Hope this helps

Hi, I think I'm having some problem with my Yoga 920's thunderbolt port. I bought a StarTech thunderbolt 3 dock. When I first time plug in the dock, everything works fine the thunderbolt software pops up and ask me the authorized the new dock. And I click always trust this device. Then the windows crushed with a blue screen and a QR code on it. After 920 restarted, and I tried the dock again, it was identified as USB 3.1 hub but no USB connection. And when I tried to open the thunderbolt software, it shows me the following warning.I tried to update the driver, but the installer said it was all ready. And then I downloaded HWINFO64 to check, I could not find the thunderbolt 3 controller under the PCI-Express X4 BUS. Is that means my thunderbolt 3 port is broken? What should I do with this? Btw, when I plug in the thunderbolt 3 dock, the powersupply is also connected, and the dock also provide the power, two power supply input at the same time, will that be a reason of the crash which also burn the thunderbolt 3 controller? Thank you.

I am sure the warranty won't cover the usb port and I really don't know what to do I already paid more than 700 dollars to buy this and if one of the port failed this easily, the other one and the only one remained  is bound to fail as well.. I don't know what to do, any advice .. Then, when I tried to connect the HDMI again, it would not recognise the device. I have tried restarting / turning on and off my laptop numerous times and it still will not recognise the HDMI cable / projection device. In fact, it will not recognise HDMI (via USB-C to HDMI converter that worked previously) or my flash drives (via USB-C to USB-2.0 that worked previously).  I would be much appreciative of any help in this matter.Danny

Question: Yoga 13 HDMI Port

Hello, First, I've read through all the different posts on here and scattered around Google about the HDMI port's issues on the Yoga 13, and nothing has worked yet. I generally have my Xbox 360 plugged into the HDMI 1 port of my JVC EM37T and the display works without exception. I unplug the HDMI cable from the Xbox and plug it directly into the HDMI port of my Yoga 13. The only problem-- the Yoga 13 doesn't detect that anything has been plugged into the HDMI port. The first time I plugged it in, it worked fine; the second time I tried, I had to unplug and plug it back in several times before it would work; third, even more plugging and unplugging; and now, it won't detect the HDMI input at all. My drivers are up to date. My TV is on the HDMI input setting. I can push F10 for days and nothing appears on the TV screen. I tried trimming down the plastic around my HDMI cable, and while it still works with my Xbox, it doesn't work in the laptop. Thanks so much. Any advice would be helpful. I'm starting to think I have a dud HDMI port.

Answer:Yoga 13 HDMI Port

Check your Yoga to a different TV or even a different cable, to see what is the faulty!

Dear Lenovo. I would like to share my frustration on the experience with my Yoga 13 2 laptop. The time and effort that has been wasted getting the device repaired and talking to John Lewis is just astonishing. I have had two issues with the laptop and the first one got repaired after a long delay and the second time round (recent) has been rejected. The second issue I had is with the defective USB 3 port (blue), whereby the plastic has fallen apart due to poor material used. The report provided advised that this was damaged, under wear and tear. This is just not the case because the port was only used with a mouse. This is an unacceptable response considering that this is a wider issue as found on this very forum. I am not happy and would like Lenovo to contact me. Kindest Regards Mr Luong

Good afternoon, We as a company purchased 21 Yoga 2 13in computers approximately 3 months ago. Within that period of time, three seperate people have reported that when unplugging a USB cable from the USB 3.0 port, that the blue plastic internals of the port have come out attached to the cable and the port is no longer functional. For the first instance of this, I contacted Lenovo support to be told that this is misuse, not a warranty repair issue. I have two questions: 1) At what point does this become something that should be dealt with as a design fault and dealt with under warranty?2) What are my next options. I'm hoping that a Lenovo representative will be able to advise me further. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 2 13 USB 3.0 Port breaking off.

It was stated by Lenovo support on this forum, in a thread about someone accidentally plugging the power into such a damaged usb port, that Lenovo were investigating a number of reports about this and that they now have a solution. Sounds like you are being misled by whoever fed you the 'misuse' line. They're probably after a bonus. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Edge-Yoga-Lavie-Z-Flex/Yoga-2-13-Power-cord-plugged-into-USB-and...

I've seen several notes here and in other forums about bluetooth disconnects on the Y2P.  I had this issue with a MS Sculpt Comfort mouse (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/sculpt-comfort-mouse).   I tried removing the pre-installed bluetooth driver and allowing Windows to find me one.  Same problem.  Then I downloaded the driver from Lenovo (currently bt136w8164.exe).   After reinstalling this manually the mouse was recognized immediately and I haven't had an issue since. FYI.  Hope this helps.

I am the owner of Yoga 2 Pro and I have been using the integrated bluetooth that came with it to connect to a HC-05 Bluetooth module and that worked well for a while. After an update or something, my laptop decided to just stop being able to connect to the HC-05 module. In the add a device menu, the HC-05 name can clearly be seen but when the device is selected to open it just continues to load to no avail. And of course, the Bluetooth is on, I have verified that. It is not the module because I have two modules and cannot connect to either. And my friends my friends can connect.  Another detail:Because I was doing this for a project for someone who may not have integrated Bluetooth, I also purchased a Bluetooth dongle and connected to the HC-05 using the dongle and was able to connect using that. When the Bluetooth stopped working, I was no longer able to connect via the dongle and since have uninstalled it. What have I tried:I uninstalled and reinstalled the Bluetooth drivers twice and do not know any other possibilities. If anyone could give me guidance in troubleshooting methods or has experience with this I would appreciate the help.

When I am using my bluetooth connection on my Yoga 3 Pro and typing at the same time the connection drops off constantly. I can only assume that the bluetooth antenna is right below my hands. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I would really prefer to not have another USB device sticking out of the tablet while I am using it. I have already had to add a WiFi USB device to extend the poor range of the WiFi card that came from the factory. It really defeats the purpose of this device being so portable. This seems like a pretty big design flaw. Thanks!

I have the same problem.I found that if I rest my hand on the right of the touchpad then the bluetooth connection to the speakers breaks.

Hello everyone! So I've got that lenovo yoga 710-14IKB Notebook recently, and I've got little problems with my bluetooth. I've been trying to connect my bluetooth headset to the notebook, and the quality of sound was very bad so i thought that updating bluetooth drivers might work. I installed some of the newest ones and now my computer doesn't see bluetooth at all. I've tried to do everything, installing every driver possible, uninstalling them and back again. I even did recovery whole system by that OneKey Recovery tool. Still nothing. There is nothing related to bluetooth in device menager and even when i tried to add legacy hardware - nothing related to bluetooth, i tried to look up to services and see if there is something that could help, found something like Bluetooth support service which was turned off, so i turned it on, set it to automatic but it doesn't seem to be working either. I really don't know what happened. It seems for me like i had accidentally turned off whole bluetooth card or something. Please help :x

I am using a Microsoft Bluetooth Sculpt mouse with a Yoga 13 and every couple of minutes the mouse pointer starts to wander and does not follow the mouse movements. This corrects itself after 30-50 seconds but then this recurs every few minutes. I have reinstalled the 23 October 2012 Wireless LAN and Bluetooth drivers and the Microsoft mouse control software but the problem persists. I don't have any other mouse drivers installed (except the standard Yoga trackpad). I have checked that there are no other Bluetooth devices active on the Yoga or even anywhere around.  Is there anything I can do to find out what is causing this problem? Thanks, Ken

Answer:Yoga 13 Bluetooth mouse problem

hi ken,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try the following::
1. Press F6 to permanently disable the built-in Touchpad and try to use the mouse
2. If the problem happens when the AC adapter is plugged-in, try to unplug the charger and use the battery as a power source and test the bluetooth mouse (vice versa)

If the problem persist,
3. Uninstall the Bluetooth drivers from the Control Panel > Programs and reboot. When the unit boots back into Windows 9, it will use the generic blueooth drivers. Try to pair the Bluetooth mouse and check if the issue still happens.

Let me know your findings

Cheers

I just got my Thinkpad Yoga 15 yesterday.  I have observed that whenever I connect my Sony bluetooth headphones to the computer, the Wi-Fi appears to quit working completely.  Has anyone else had this issue and what are some possible solutions?  This is kind of a deal breaker for me.

I have a Yoga 13 (Windows 8) and a Lenovo Thinkpad Bluetooth keyboard.  The keyboard disconnects from the computer every few minutes.  Sometimes it reconnects on its own after 30 seconds or so.  Sometimes it needs to be restarted and sometimes it won't reconnect for several minutes despite numerous restarts. I have replaced the keyboard.  The new keyboard behaves exactly the same way.I have replaced the wireless card.  No improvement. It is possible that the new wireless card is also defective. I have tried to update drivers, although the drivers for the keyboard still seem to be dated June 2006, which seems an awfully long time ago. Any ideas?  Lenovo seems stumped (or just does not want to help diagnose the problem).  I do have onsite service.

Hello everyone!  I bought my parents a Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet along with its bluetooth keyboard. For the last few days, the BT keyboard would be functioning when I type in my login password, but once I logged onto the device, my keyboard would stop working. However, the function keys (volume, etc) would still work. I tried googling this issue but it doesn't seem to be share by many people.  Anyone here has experienced a similar issue? Someone  had suggested me it is a hardware problem, but if the keyboard is working during the login screen, wouldn't it be also possibly a software problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a new Yoga Pro 2 and a Verizon Samsung S4.  When I try to pair them via bluetooth, they "pair" but won't connect.  I have tried restarting both devices etc and I am still getting the same results.  Could someone please point me in the right direction?    ThanksJimmyMashed Up Website Development

Answer:Samsung S4 Will Not Connect To Yoga Pro 2 via Bluetooth

Is there any reason you want to connect via Bluetooth? Bluetooth gets messy when linking phones to laptops.

Lenovo's Phone Companion App in the App Store uses WiFi and works pretty good at linking the phone to the PC.
