YP2 screen coming out of bezel/edge

Question: YP2 screen coming out of bezel/edge

Hello, I received a new Yoga 2 Pro and the glass screen is popping out of the top on the bottom left corner. It's under warranty so I could take it in but I was wondering first if there's an easy fix. Is there a screw somewhere I can tighten?

Preferred Solution: YP2 screen coming out of bezel/edge

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys, I recently bought a Thinkpad Edge 11 and i noticed that the upper part of the screen bezel is seated a bit flimsy. If you slightly tap on the left and right side of the bezel (just left and right from where the webcam is installed) it makes a rattling sound and everytime I open the notebook up you can hear the bezel making a sound as the pressure of the closed lid is taken off of it.It doesn't look like it's falling apart though, I was just wondering about the "flimsyness". Is this something within the normal quality of the Thinkpad Edge or did I get a flawed unit? I really don't want to exchange this thing again, as this is already a replacement machine I got because of a non responsive space bar -.- Best regards

hey!! Well, I guess this reply is a bit late - but my Edge 14 too happens makes the same rattling noise, and I'm now worried because its not just left and right side of the cam but every part of the bezel! I guess that's the normal Edge quality.

Blue filmThere is a blue film protruding from bottom right edge of screen bezel or between housings. It is a corner of a film and I noticed when I ran my finger over the side today and felt a poke. I was wondering if this is serious or something I can ignore? I use this workstation for work so I can't send it in for an extended amount of time, unless apsotutely neccessary, and I definitely cannot lose software and files stored in it. Anyone noticed this on their Thinkpad P51 workstations?

Hi everyone, I've owned my X220 for about 6 weeks and it's been working fine - great battery life and so on. But the other day I noticed that the bottom part of the LCD screen is coming away from the black plastic border. I called Lenovo to ask about a repair or return as I'm worried it'll just get worse. The guy promptly told me if the computer was still working and it was only cosmetic damage, that it wouldn't be covered. It's clearly a manufacturing fault...any advice?Cheers,Paul

Hi Everyone,Can you please tell me what you think is wrong with my beloved thinkpad edge 11, when I press against a part of the laptop bezel it makes a 'cracking' type of sound and also when I open the lid the bezel is causing a minor noise, please view the outube video I created to show this. Please note the laptop is Out of warranaty, I was just wondering if I should be worried about it, and how much it would cost to get fixed ?Would it be the bezel only needs replacing, or the bezel is fine, but there is missing clips on the laptop for the bezel ? Please watch my youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgAt0njhWCk I look forward to hearing back,Adam

Hello guys, Wondering if you can help me with the following issues.. This is regarding x61t (7764CTO) unit. 1) BezelI purchased my x61t around end of July 2008. Upon receiving the unit I immediately noticed that the bezel was separating (but wasn't sure if I was one of many affected ppl until I did a bit of research & compared my unit to few other identical x61ts...). Basically, the bottom of the plastic hinge, when in portrait mode, separates and when I press down on it, it stays in contact with the LCD panel for few seconds and pops back up. This is covered by warranty, am I correct? What is the usual turnaround time?Im a bit surprised as this issue was raised during early this year...don't units that shipped later(including mine?) use the newer bezels? 2) latchmy double-sided latch has come off completely yesterday when I was changing from portrait to normal mode. From what I see on this forum so far Im under impression that latch breaking off is considered customer abuse regardless of the cause. How much does lenovo charge for such in this case? Or is this covered? Much thanks in advance, -Brian-Message Edited by Kitsunedon on 11-19-2008 06:07 PM

Answer:HELP - X61t loose bezel (bezel separation) & broken latch problem

Brian, Welcome to the forum! Does your tablet have the SXGA+ screen or the multi-touch?  The updates to the bezel were exclusive to those models with SXGA+ units and were found to dramatically reduce the occurance of separation.   Some rare occurances are still possible on both models, and in my opinion are likely caused by a combination of assembly process, and the possibility of some tolerance in the bezel parts - notably where the adhesive is applied. (if the lower adhesive strip is set too low, less than 1/2 of it's surface area makes contact, dramatically reducing holding power) This should be a warranted item. The latch would need to be addressed based upon inspection of the assembly, and whether there are signs of impact, etc to the case that would indicate the unit had suffered some form of impact. Service will need to make the call on that as to whether warranty or non - warranty in nature.  I might suggest consulting with a warranty authorized business partner, as while the bezel is removed, it would be a good time to replace the latch.  Replacing the latch requires the bezel to be removed, and a service provider should replace rather than re-use the bezel once removed. Hope that helps! Mark

Me again! At this point (after 2 lost days of work!) We don't have anything special saved on there, it's all in the cloud (scary), so a reset would be awesome. My partner tried the a USB boot (since the battery is integrated and we can't remove and there are no cd/dvd drives, we made a usb flash drive). No success. Also: It's been 'upgraded' to windows 10.

Hey Helix owners, I want to get a screen protector for the Helix, but I don't want the anti-glare one offered by 3M.  Photodon prints custom screen protects to dimensions you give them.  I was hoping to get the dimensions of the screen+bezel and the cutout locations for camera and tablet button... I'm not able to measure these very precisely myself.  Anyone know where this information can be obtained?   I called 3M and they sent me a data sheet for their anti-glare protector, but it contained no info on dimensions and cutout locations. Dylan

I have a 1.5 year old (still under warranty) X60.  I have noticed recently (past few months) that the touch screen layers seem to be separating.  When I write on it, it feels like I am writing on a piece of plastic that isn't quite flat sitting over the screen.  There is a bit of give when I start writing.  Maybe 2-3 mm.  I have the separating bezel as well. They may be connected. Anyone have recent experience with EZServ?  I noticed last summer there were lots of issues with them taking weeks to fix anything.  Are they better now?  I can't do without the tablet for too long. Have people been happy with LCD repair or will the fix be worse than the problem?

Answer:Screen Issue - Maybe bezel, maybe not

Welcome to the forum! You should send the machine in, IMO. There's no "fixing" the LCD, just replacing, so that shouldn't be that much of a big deal. Good luck and keep us posted.

Can you please help me with this!!

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Satellite Pro M35 - How to remove the screen bezel?

Hi

Well buddy, in my opinion you should not try to disassemble the notebook if you don?t have the necessary experience and don?t know how to do this!
You could damage other parts? you know?

You are stuck on the LCD mask?
As far as I know the LCD mask is covered by two screws which are hidden under the seals.
You will have to remove two LCD mask seals and then you could remove the two screws hidden under the mentioned seals.
Then you could put your fingers between the mask and the LCD screen in order to release the LCD mask plastic latches.

But note; be careful, don?t use any force!

Hello, I recently got my new lenovo T430 (my first thinkpad) and overall I'm very happy with it. I just have a few concerns with some parts of the laptop. Maybe it's just because I was expecting too much, but here it is: 1) The bottom of the screen bezel is a little loose, it's not touching the screen in the middle of the screen at the bottom (it's maybe 1mm away from the screen)2) The edge of the palmrest is not firmly connected to the bottom of the laptop, when applying a pressure it moves closer to the bottom of the laptop (again, by just a milimeter or so)3) The palmrest flexes a little on top of the optical drive4) The plastic part where the power, sound, thinkvantage buttons are located also flexes and make cracking noises (this part actually doesn't seem of very good quality)5) The battery is a little loose too but I heard this is normal Are all of those normal and what I should expect from my t430? Thanks!

The bezel is a litte bit warped (about 1mm) and it is probably caused by direct sun light. I decided to live with that.

Hi,
Anyone help me find a replacement screen bezel for a Satellite Pro C850-1M7 please?

eBay just gives generics and I can't find anything on this site either.
Many thanks,

Answer:Screen bezel for Satellite Pro C850-1M7 needed

Notebook parts are not offered for sale. Not by notebook manufacturers so on Toshiba page you will not find anything.
Either you can try to order it by some Toshiba service provider or by some independent store. Usually googling around you should be able to find it either for Satellite Pro or maybe some Satellite C850. The parts must be the same.

I don't know where do you live and it is not easy to help you searching direct link for order.

Hello! I have always been a fan of HP however for the past couple of years since I have owned this product I have not been that pleased.  Like many others the right hinge on this laptop has been pushing apart. It has made a crack along the fault line of the plastic bezel surrounding the screen. I know this is a manufacturer's issue, there should have already been a recall, as it seems quite common. Right now I can't close my laptop easily for the fear that the hinge could worsen or possibly crack the display. My laptop has been not fully usable during the time I have owned it. I am currently outside of my warranty with HP however I believe due to the exceptional circumstances of this case and how common this problem is, I deserve a fix. I would also like to mention the fact that this laptop cost me a considerable amount of money at the time (650 pounds sterling). For a laptop of this calibre, you should be able to close the screen and have working hinges. Link to other users experiencing the same problem: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy-m6-Broken-hinge/td-p/33... I am leaving this post as I am begging is there any posssibility of HP giving a suitable remedy. Possibly a quick fix for this for free. I know I am at fault in this scenario and would love a repair before I begin my computer science course in September. I actually do really like HP's products and have always recommended them however this... I don't think all these are due to force strike on the corner. Microsoft Edge Released for iOS and Coming Soon to Android

Microsoft Edge was released today for iOS and coming soon for Android. Both of these releases are coming preview mode with only the iOS version available today via the Apple TestFlight program. The Android version is still in beta and will be coming soon.

As Microsoft has not been able to create a sizeable dent in the mobile market, it makes sense to bridge the gap between Windows 10 and the two biggest mobile operating systems; Apple iOS and Google Android. This is most visible with their Continue on PC feature that is available in Insider Preview builds and the upcoming Fall Creators Update.

With this feature, Edge users on iOS and Android will be able to transfer what they are reading or working on to their PC. If they are reading a new article or working on a doc on their mobile phone, they can click a button and transfer it automatically to their PC so they can continue working on it at their computer.
..
.....
..
To further increase interoperability between mobile and Windows, Edge will synch your favorites, reading list, history, and books between all devices. Also included in the mobile version of Microsoft Edge is voice search, QR code scanning, and InPrivate browsing.

To get access to the Edge Preview for iOS, you need to be part of the Windows Insider program and using the latest preview build. You can then signup for the Microsoft Edge preview at this page.Click to expand...

Hello everyone,

First post here and thanks for allowing me to be a part of the community!

My first question is while attempting to pin a website to the task bar in Edge I followed the directions and selected the "3 dots menu" and then selected "open with IE" option as instructed.

When I click on the webpage icon in the task bar the site indeed comes up but it is in Internet Explorer rather than Edge. Is there any way I can pin the site to the task bar and have it launch in Edge rather than IE? I understand it opens in IE because I opened the website in Edge and then told it to open with IE.

When I tried pinning the tab to the task bar in Edge I got the universal red circle with the line through it so I couldn't pin it unless I opened it in IE.

Ive noticed when I pin a website to the Start Menu that it will open in Edge. Is it not possible to have this happen by using the task bar?

Thanks so much for your help.

Appreciate interacting with you folks very much.

best,

rick

I have a W530 that I bought late July this year and have noticed when working with the thinklight small cracks on the screen bezel next to both hinges. I haven't had the problem with any other Thinkpads i've owned over the years. I am going to get this sorted by Lenovo support but is this something that is affecting other W530s?

Answer:W530 - Small cracks on screen bezel by hinges

Quick turnaround with an onsite repair fitting a new screen bezel. Seems to have been an issue that resulted from an earlier problem the replacement keyboard. Thanks Lenovo & IBM.

Hi my pavilion fell to the floor yesterday and shattered. I am familiar with replacing some parts and feel I'd rather replace myself than spend a fortune to get it done. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a new bezel? HP pavilion 23-p149 bezel thanks!

If possible can I get some of G555 owners to confirm this "feature"... When you press on the bottom bezel of the screen (anywhere from the logo to right hinge) does your screen turn off? Ohh and if it does go off just press FN+F2 a couple of times to get it back.  I'm trying to figure out if I need to send this in for warranty repair. Thanks for your timeBrian

Answer:G555 Screen turns off when pressing on lower bezel

sounds like you need to ship it back to service.

Hi guys. I know the screen flicker is a known issue. But mine screen issue doesn't seem like everyone elses. I could be wrong. (Sorry this being a little long) Okay so I got this nice laptop about a 2 or 3 weeks ago and the screen flickering issue was not peresent until at least a week ago. I tired some possible fixes but no luck. My belief would be that it's driver related. Because it seems like my screen is trying to reset itself. It's almost a split/second flash on the display with a line sometimes it looked. This will happen every now and then. So it's something I could possibly put up with. When I reverted my display to the Microsoft Display Adapter to reinstall drivers the flicker seems to have disappeared. Also when I play games this issue is not peresent. I do not wish to send it in for warrenty fullfilment because I need this computer for school. Lastly my bezel seems to be pushing on the display causing a yellowish contrasted tint on the bottom left cornor. Any reason why this is happening? Sorry for this being so long. I have tried to contact Lenovo about this but I could not get through sadly. Specs of the Y50 case needed: OS: Windows 10 (Was Windows 8.1)RAM: 16GBCPU: Intel i7-4720HQGPU: Nvidia GTX 960M 4GBIntergrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4600Display: 15.6" IPS FHD Anti-Glare

I have a HP Pavilion m6 1045-dx. The rear casing of the screen was the first issue, as it began to become unattached, as you can see here:

I did not take care of this right away, so now the problem has only gotten worse so that now a part of the front bezel around the screen is cracked and the LCD is that same area. This is all due to stress closing/opening the lid, because since that panel on the back case of the screen began rising it is putting pressure on that area of the screen causing more damage.

Needless to say, it is probably time to fix this. In addition to the screen problems my built-in webcam/mic is not working, possibly because is goes through the screen and has become disconnected or something.

I have attached a couple more photos to show the damage. As far as the LCD goes, I know the only thing I can do is replace it. I am wondering about using some epoxy on the back screen to repair it, and also to seal the crack in the front screen bezel, or possibly replace it.
If I end up replacing the screen case (back) and bezel (front) plus the LCD screen itself should I be worried about the webcam and wireless antennas in the screen?
Also, out of warranty and in addition to all the parts charges they would charge me labor as well looking at around $300 USD so I opted to not go for that.

Long lasting epoxy suggestions?

Answer:HP Pavilion m6 Stress crack on screen bezel, casing, and LCD

Hello bensonmojo. Welcome to the Forum.

The wire that connects to the webcam is snaked around the outside edge of the bezel, behind the display screen. Very possible the wire is severed or frayed.

You will need to replace the outer lid cover, the bezel, and the display.
The display screen is attached to 2 thin steel rails which double as the hinge for the lid. The only structural protection for the screen is the lid cover. The bezel is little more than decorative, but protects the wiring. So not replacing any of these parts would be foolish.

Good place for replacement screens in N. America:
LAPTOP SCREEN from $34.99, replacement LCD screens. Repair Tablet, Acer, Apple, iPhone, iPad, Samsung, Dell, HP Compaq, Toshiba, IBM Lenovo, Sony, Asus, Gateway.
Be sure to watch a video on replacing a screen.

As for the cover and bezel, look for a non-working laptop of the same model line on Ebay and cannibalize it for parts.

I just received my Z575, and I am overall impressed aside from the purple color (gun metal grey what?), but that's another story.  However, I went to open my laptop and happened to grasp at a certain spot on the edge of the screen to open it, and noticed the plastic pushed in just a tiny, little bit making a very slight clicking feeling/sound.  It was this that then made me start squeezing the plastic surrounding the screen (bezel) in the same spot.  What resulted is in this video:  http://youtu.be/xyjEaX675Us  Please read the description of the video for further explanations.  Just keep in mind that the bezel does not appear to be coming apart, loose, or anything.  I only get the clicking in the video when squeezing in this particular manner. I am a little OCD when it comes to new electronics, and I just wanted to get some opinions on this.  Is this a typical occurrence with laptop LCD screens?  Should I be worried that something is coming loose?  I would rather not have to go through the hassle of a warranty already, especially if this is something that's just simply "no big deal" or something that's normal.  Thank you for your time.

Answer:Z575 Screen bezel clicking (video included)

Could anybody check their own laptops for a similar symptom?  I'd feel better just knowing it's a typical occurrence.

I have ordered a screen protector to get some tooth when writing. It's slightly larger than my x200t's screen.I would like to lift the bezel and put it under it to get full screen coverage. I've read the online manual about lifting the bezel- the pittle plastic tabs, the screws on the top and side, the double sided tape, etc. is there anything more to it than that that I should know about so I don't screw it up? Is this a dumb idea and I should just get a "properly" sized 12.1" screen? Or is it really just pretty easy to do? Lift bezel, install screen, replace bezel?Looking for advice from those who have lifted the bezel before.

This is the nicest computer I've ever owned - desktop or laptop.  I love everything about it and I think I am now a long term lenovo tablet convert...  The model I have is X60 SXGA digitizer.  6363A3.  Not sure if their are any other relevant model numbers I could provide.  I am running XP Tablet 2005. The problem is the navdial.  There is slight separation of screen bezel to the right of the navdial.  The navdial seems to get stuck and this is the equivalent of a stuck keyboard key.  Sometimes this occurs when the bezel is touched, when the navdial is used or just at random when I am nowhere near the navdial.  Possibly heat triggers it sometimes and rotating the screen around. The stuck dial causes all sorts of minor problems - BIOS complains of stuck key, cursors and menus going crazy.  I thought - I can live without that and mapped all the navdial keys to 'none'.  This has kind of fixed the problem except that... The stuck key is still capable of disabling other key inputs even when the keycodes are mapped to 'none'.  Cursor keys, letters and numbers stop working and I have to tap the navdial to bring them back.  It happens a lot - and especially whenever the computer is in tablet position.  Also sometimes it causes a keystroke to repeat until I whack it again. So I am wondering if I can somehow unplug the navdial or cut its cord.  Would that negatively effect the key codes from ... Answer:remove navdial to fix screen bezel problem on x60 - good idea?

Fortune favours the brave - here's what happened.  I found the Maintenance manual on this site and used it to see how to pull off the bezel.  A bit scary with the plastic tabs popping and tape ripping noises but with due care I made it... When I thought about the situation a bit I realised that the last person to pull it off had probably trapped the lead of the finger print reader between the navdial cover and the press buttons on the circuit board.  This was also the cause of the bezel seperation over on that side.  Now my x60 is perfect and 100% functioning and I am a very happy man. ebay $700 AUD delivered to the door. And I think it may have been sitting on the shelf in the public service office it came from as the office lemon - victim of a bodgy repair job.  Explains why the battery is still so good. Thanks for reading whoever you are. Now best computer eva!!

Purchased laptop at Best Buy for a lot only to have it fall apart.  It has been sitting on my desk with a post it that says don't move.  You should expect to have good merchandise from HP without feeling like you purchased a lemon.  When it first happend I searched and found nothing.  Something told me to give it a try again and search and I see hundreds of reports of the same problem UGH! OBVIOUSLY bad design.  There probably is not one person that has this device that has not run into this problem.  The big question is, what will HP do for me.  We have a house full of hp laptops and this one s the only one with this poor failed design.  HELP, Laptop has years of life but can't be used because the hindges/case is falling apart.

This is a brand new laptop which I got less than a week ago. On the third day after receiving it I noticed that the plastic on the top left of the screen is not properly glued/attached to the back of the screen and easily bends. The top-right corner of the screen does not have this problem. I submitted a request via 1-800-IBM-SERV on 8/14 (Sunday), got a call from Atlanta, GA that it won't be till Tuesday (8/16) when I get on-site technician due to part backlog. Then, each day, the status of the request will get bumped "holding for parts" with ETA the following day. Today is 8/18, the ETA is 8/19 and I am not really going to wait any longer. At best, the part will arrive on Friday evening (8/19) and the technician can come and work on my laptop on 8/22. The laptop was shipped 13 days ago, and the 21-day clock for returns is ticking. I paid extra to get 3 year next-day on site service, which I am not getting. It's not even clear the part we are waiting for is the right part, as nobody has really come to see and diagnose the laptop. Unless it is a very common problem, and they know what part to replace, in which case it seems they should just fix them before they ship them. (OK, I am getting a little far, as I know no laptop is free of flaws, but this is a clear, mechanical defect right out of the box. They can easily detect it - it doesn't require running any tests.) I called Lenovo to request a RMA. They asked me for my warranty support case, which I gave ... Read more

Hi, I've had a T400 and it's one of the best computers in my college suite right now! ;D But I have a few questions. When I brought my laptop to the school, it was in a tightly packed backpack within a sleeve. There are some marks from the screen bezel pressing on the palmrest/other parts. Will that affect performance in the future? It works pretty well as is. Can I get rid of it?

There's also one dead pixel on the screen and some wear and tear on the corners, but all in all, it's one of the best computers of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Anyway, can I fix the dead pixel or is this cause for concern? I really don't want to send it in as it's quite hard to see and I need it everyday.

Thanks!

Answer:T400: Screen bezel marks on palmrest and dead pixel question

Mine, which I carry in a backpack, often with heavy casebooks, daily, has the lines one the palmrest from the monitor bezel.  I really never found it of concern as it does not bother me nor seem to cause any more issues.  I also on occasion get a mark on the screen from the trackpoint, and less often, from the (greasy) keys.  Seems to depend on how many heavy books are pressing against the laptop (naturally). Thankfully, unlike my old white POS MacBook (2006), this one can handle the pressure.

Screensaver is enabled and so is 'Display welcome screen when coming back from screensaver'.

This works most of the time, however on a regular basis the screensaver will resume to the following screen and just stay there forever.

The only thing to do is to press the power button, at which point a popup alerts that a user is logged in, do you still want to shut down.

Hi,I have an edge 15 first gen (with i7 4510u) and my digitizer broke. I bought a new one and only then found out the hard way I can't seperate the digitizer and the LCD - and broke both.Thinking about how worn my machine is (touchpad is flimsy and the metel is bent everywhere), I was thinking of buying the cheapest new i3 (I think it's edge 2, model is 80k9) off ebay, then swapping my old mainboard in place of the new i3 mainboard. Then I may get an almost new laptop.Do you think it will work, will the older mainboard fit in the newer machine? Thanks.

Hello, Windows 10 Pro, fully fully updated. The following happens on two completely different machines (desktop and laptop of different manufacturers).

Up until some time ago (I believe, before Creator's Update, but not 100% certain about that), I used to have Windows Spotlight activated, so that almost every day or every other day, on lock screen, I get one of those lovely photos from Microsoft world archive. However, I not only used to get them on the Lock Screen, they were appearing on the Sign-In screen as well on the first boot-up and Sign-in, as I thought they should, as Windows Spotlight works that way (right?). And I really liked it.

But as of one update, that stopped happenning. Windows Spotlight still works fine on Lock Screen, new photos just fine, but on the sign-in screen, I keep getting the Windows 10 default backgroud photo, the beach/cave one.

Needless to say, I changed nothing in the Sign-In or Lock screen settings at all.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I've already tried the "Brinx fix". Also, needless to say, I've tried resetting the Windows Spotlight back to Photo, and reboot and back countless times.
Cheers

Same here & has been happening since a CU in June, I've put it down to MS possibly breaking Spotlight with that CU or they've removed the feature.

This problem happens each time I am powering up from a complete shutdown.  I tried running the system check in the lenovo toolbox and it said everything ok.  I tried booting and holding down F1 to run some diagnostic test(this is a bit beyond me but i read to try it).  I start the test, but it will hang at '0% out of 100 completed'.  Can someone help me troubleshoot this problem.  Thanks in advance.

Hey all, My wife's laptop, e420, has been having issues for the last 3-4 months. It started where she would shut the laptop and it would not go to sleep, the screen would just be black. You would have to hit the power button to wake up. A new issue is that we get the dreaded blue screen. The error shows that there is a problem power management when shutting the laptop. I have tried to debug the dump file with little help and I have updated all the drivers. I have a feeling the power management drivers became corrupt on an update but not sure. Any thoughts? I have updated the bios as well. Thanks!

However, my first experience is not so smooth.I am having a screen flicker issue in secondary landscape mode (not the default landscape mode) whenever I move my mouse beyond the right edge of the screen. I'm looking into buying a new Thinkpad to replace my trustworthy but aging T42. When I look at the various Edge models, I see that there are different types of screens across the 13/14/15 inch models. The 13" Edge page refers to "Glare" HD screens; The 14" Edge page refers to Glossy HD screens; andThe 15" Edge page refers both to "Glare" HD and Anti-Glare HD screens. Is there a difference (other than size) for screens across the 13/14/15 inch model lines? By "Glare" does Lenovo mean "Glossy", or did they just forgot to add "Anti-" before "Glare" I saw the 14" Edge model at Best Buy. The laptop looked nice and functioned well, barring the exceptionally glossy screen. It reflected the store's lights a lot, so I'm doubting it's ability to be a good laptop outdoors. On the bright side, I could probably use it as a mirror in the morning... If the other Edge models have the same screen, I'll consider buying a T410... or another business-line laptop from another manufacturer.

They make USB VGA adapters which are not too expensive. But it sounds like the display itself is probably toast and if the USB VGA adapter requires more than just Plug n Play to get it to work such as going through a driver installation with choices you might not be able to get that far.Below is an example that claims easy to install etc. Nothing you would want to play video games through though. They also make USB to HDMI external video adapters.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815296005

This could be a long shot but often registry problems are reported when there is a problem with the RAM. You don't say whether this is a laptop or a tower but it might be worth cleaning the RAM edge connectors with a pencil eraser. After that pop the RAM sticks in and out a few times to clear any oxide of the sockets themselves. If it is the standard BSOD, mostly (but not always) it is a hardware problem. We all live on a ball.

Do you want to scan your computer for viruses?' upon saying 'Yes' another window pops up with the anyhuyishe. Beforehand after saying 'Yes', Windows Defender would come up and run a scan and give a list of problems but I didn't use it till end it at that time. And now Windows Defender doesn't come up anymore.

I have tried Norton Anti-virus which doesn't catch it. I understand this is normal for malware or spyware. I have installed Ad-Aware, Anti-Spy of Yahoo Toolbar but I can't get the latest updates. The malware prevents me from getting updates. My browser ( IE) window turns to anyhuyishe. I can't get Windows Defender updates as well.

I have read a note upon searching the topic: anyhuyishe, to run HiJackThis and send the log to one of the Forums. I have found your site in this way :) Since the dds.scr file doesn't seem to run I'm sending the log from HJT v2.0.2 . I hope it is appropriate.

Thanks in advance

I just got the laptop and the screen saver refuses to start up.  I change the time frame...nothing.  It doesn't even turn the screen off after the set length of time.  For a laptop that's not even a month old, this strikes me as unacceptable. I'm beginning to wonder if the Inter Graphics Driver or Notebook System BIOS update had something to do with it, particularly as each update indicated that NEWER drivers were already on the system (which also makes the need for an update kind of pointless) So how do I get the screensaver to actually work???

Fresh install of Windows 7 and I'm convinced that one of the MS updates I elected to install is causing this. I've read other forums that said it's related to having a wireless mouse, but I'm using the same hardware that I've always used. The thing I did this time that I don't normally do is install all of the "optional" software updates from MS. I tried uninstalling all of the usb related drivers and letting them reinstall, no luck. Not sure how to pinpoint the prob. Any advice would be awesome.

Usb devices include a wireless mouse, and Logitech C920 webcam (webcam newly added, but screensaver wasn't an issue prior to reloading).

thx!

Answer:Screen saver not coming on!

If you try unplugging the mouse and the computer screensaver goes on that you know that is the problem

I just got this computer yesterday and was working fine. Today I turn it on and I am able to get to log in but upon doing so screen goes black and nothing happens? Is this a faulty hard drive. Still under warranty.

Answer:Black screen nothing coming on after log in

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. No, this is not a symptom of a faulty hardware component (HDD or other). This looks like software problem - corrupted user profile, Windows Explorer issue or some other software causing problems. Try to  perform hard restart/forced reset. More info and how to here >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768/    Use System Restore to restore back to yesterday's condition 1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button2. Power it on.2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one 3. Choose F11 for System Recovery options. The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Every HP computer comes with recovery partition present to assist in tough moments. Please, perform "System Restore" first in an attempt to fix the issue. Please, restore back to previous days (restore point) where the issue was not present. Here is more info:>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768/>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545#AbT5  Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

I have an older CRT monitor, on an older P4 PC running XP.

I replaced the original CDRom on this machine with a new DVD Writer. After this doing this, the PC came on with a 'Disk boot failure' (it was working fine before).

I then took out the HDD, cleaned all the connections (years of dust), plugged back, and then the screen will not come on, on boot up. The screen has a small LED in front, which is orange when the PC is off or in standby mode, and turns green when the screen comes on/receives a signal from the PC.

On closer inspection, I noticed that the graphics card's (NVidia GForce) fan has stopped working altogether, due to an accumulation of dust and grime over time.

I then bought a new graphics card, thinking that this would solve the problem. But it did not. Even with the new card, the screen does not 'come on' when I boot up the PC - the LED just sits there, staying orange. It was working fine, for many years, until I plugged out and plugged back the HDD.

This is annoying, since I spent some money now to get this PC to work, and still it is not!

Help!!!!

J.

I just replaced everything in my PC but the PSU and Optical drives.

The build went fine, and everything powered up... But nothing is coming up on the monitor at all, the light on the monitor just says yellow like it's idle. Also peripherals like the keyboard and mouse wont blink up on turning it on.

I looked in the PC with the power on and every component is powered up and the fans are spinning fine....

I have no idea whats wrong?

Try resetting BIOS to defaults. May also be a RAM issue.

Product name: HP 15 Notebook PC
Product number: J1J41UA#ABA
Serial number: [personal information removed]

about 4 months ago the screne began detaching... i thought it was something a little tape could handle.

but near the hinge at the bottom right the screen plasctic has came off from about the bottom middle going top the right and now all the way up to the top. the hing has also snapped apart.

i have never dropped this laptop, nor has it been unduly used.

i brought it for 199 dollars brand new, and didnt get an extended warranty because the warranty cost almost as much as the entire laptop. so why wouldnt i jsut buy a new laptop!?!

i only had the standard 1 year warranty but this is clearly a design flaw and many other Hp customers have had this happen. ive owned HP for over a decade now and this is ridiculous/
anyone know who i would contact???  i cantacted the warranty section and they said they only deal with waranties and didnt even try to offer me another part of HP to contact.

no way a laptop should literally be coming apart after a year and a half of gentle basic use.

I tried looking everywhere for a solution for this problem but have not gotten anywhere. I accidentally unpluged the power (did not have battery attached) while the computer was in the process of hibernating (bar was filling up).  Problem:After I press the power button, I see the lights flicker and hear the machine "starting up" but then nothing happens. The screen doesn't even turn on and it hangs there. The keys are unresponsive. I have tried staring the power by taking out the battery and putting it back in. I even did the discharge of electricity and still nothing. Also, a strange thing I have noticed is that the computer gets extremely hot after leaving it "on" after 4-5 mins. Any tips will be grateful. ThanksMessage Edited by ngocvann on 08-15-2009 12:27 AM

For some reason, sometimes when I start my computer, after having put it in hibernation, the screen is blank. This is as if the video card has put the monitor in standby or something. Sometimes a wake-up event, like the mouse and keyboard will fix it, but often it doesn't. In that case, I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL, then feel my way to the "restart" (and because Firefox always hangs when it quits, I have to guess when the "End Now" button comes up).
What can I do about this? I read one post somewhere telling me that the virtual memory has to be greater that of the physical RAM, and mine's 2x the size of the physical RAM. I read somewhere else (http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-414138.php) that I should delete several registry keys with "Policies" in their name, but I don't trust that one. Googling 'hibernation blank screen xp' just consistently gives a lot of hits on laptop problems.
My desktop runs WinXPHESP2. It's a pretty old one.

Answer:Blank screen when coming out of hibernation

hibernation uses a lot of effort on the cpu especially if an old one, there are lots of reasons for your issue, small hard drive, low space, corrupt page file, you name it its there, very best suggestion i would do is not to hibernate, its always been glitchy with windows of all types, in fact i know of nobody who uses it
xp sp3 though would help your comp out as it does fix many issues and definatley makes it slicker and smoother so would download the installer instead of going to updates
