Yoga 2 13 Tablet Screen turns off when in Tablet Mode

Question: Yoga 2 13 Tablet Screen turns off when in Tablet Mode

I just bought my Yoga 2 13, when I flip it to Tablet mode, the screen turns off. Apparently it goes to sleep. When I open it it turns on again. Do I need to do any adjustments? or is this a defect?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Yoga 2 13 Tablet Screen turns off when in Tablet Mode

Try updating your drivers first: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-13-notebook-l...If that does not help, try a factory reset:1. Turn off your Yoga 2 132. Press the tiny button next to the power button on the right3. Follow instructions to perform a factory resetIf none of the above attempts have helped you, it is probably a hardware issue.

I have a Yoga 14 (Type 20FY) running Windows 10 64-bit, and my screen works fine in notebook, stand, and tent mode, but turns off the second I rotate it past tent mode and into tablet mode. I heard this may be related to a (relatively) recent Windows 10 update, but I honestly don't know. My computer is out of warranty and I have no income at the time, so I'd love to be able to fix this without taking it to a professional.

Hi, 2 weeks Yoya 2 pro out of the box, and get a black screen when reaching the tablet mode (back of the lid touching the back of the laptop base). I try hanged the setting under power management, with no success. When reaching the tablet mode, I get the same result as closing the lid in laptop mode. I connect my Yoga 2 to a TV through the HDMI and can see the screen and interact with the black screen (not easy to touch the right spot). My bios is updated and I have Windows 8.1. Any suggestion???

I have a basic model of the YOGA 300 (11 BY).  Due to size limitations of the eMMC drive, I couldn't upgrade to windows 10 (not enough disk space). So I downloaded the windows 10 installer/ISO to a 32gb SD Card, and upgraded from there.. actually (probably a mistake in retrospect) I did a clean install.. Windows 10 runs with no problems, and I downloaded./installed all the Lenovo drivers for windows 10 for this machine. Unfortunately I now have two issues: 1. When I flip the screen into tablet mode, the laptop doesn't seem to realise, and so I don't get the auto-tablet mode that I would expect? 2. Even with all the Lenovo drivers for this machine installed, I do not get any touch-screen response at all.. only mouse driven. Any help would be appreciated. P.S:  Anyone with the same version of YOGA 300 with an eMMC who wish to gain more drive space?  You can buy a cheap USB 3.0 slimline USB disk (because the SD Card sticks out a bit) and create a VHD which gives you a second "real drive"... this was particularlly useful when wanting to store my dropbox/onedrive sync locations!

After a recent Windows update, my driver that determines what mode it's in, Laptop, Stand, or Tablet, got all messed up, when it should be in Laptop it thinks it should be in Tablet and the other way around.  I also have an issue with screen resolution where the optimal and suggest resolution makes everything really small.  I changed the resolution, but it's still not ideal and not where it was before. Does anyone know of any fixes for these issues?

Hi there! My 2 month old yoga 720 occasionally does this weird thing, when turning the screen from laptop mode to tablet/stand, and back. The screen sometimes glitches out with grey stripes vertically filling the whole screen, or it just might go black. It seems like a bad connection to the mb or something, so the opening or closing of the screen twists or yanks a wire or something. This is of course irritating and now I'm not overly confident in using the laptop to it's fullest potential, fearing that I'll break something. So is there any self remedy for the issue, or can I open the machine and check if something is pinched or something? Specs:Make: YOGA 72015IKBType: 80X7BIOS: 4MCN25WWV1.10

Hi.  I have a problem with my yoga 710 in tablet mode. The on screen keyboard just pops up and goes away after a secound.  Some say its a problem with Chrome. But the problems also occurs when i try to log in to windows in tablet mode. The keyboard pops up, and goes away so i cant type my passcode. If i flip the pc out of tablet mode and opens the onscreen keybord by pushing on it on the taskbar it stays open. Someone know how to fix this?

Hello, I've owned my Yoga Pro 2 since it hit the market and have been satisfied until now.  I tried starting it this morning and there was no response except for the white circle next to the power button being illuminated.  I tried holding down the power button for ten seconds to restart: nothing on the screen.  I tried holding down the power button for 90 seconds (per research on others' successful attempts online): the white illuminated circle next to the power button illuminates to orange for about 3 seconds and then back to an illuminated white circle with nothing on the screen. The next thing I tried was plugging it into another outlet with no changes.  Finally, I tried starting it in tablet mode and it booted up. After booting up, I immediately made a backup onto an external HD as the touch screen worked and I was able to use it as a tablet.  Next, I tried to see if any other modes worked (e.g. tent, desktop, etc.) and after lifting the screen to transition less than 1/2 an inch, the screen would immediately turn black with keyboard and power buttons being ineffective.  Upon returning to tablet mode, I pushed the windows home logo on the screen and the screen popped into life.  I was able to use it in tablet mode again. Repeated attempts to return to transition to other modes resulted in a black screen after reaching the 1/2 inch mark.  Is this a wiring/hardward thing or is it a software fix?  I've uninstalled ... I'm truly at my ends dealing with this issue, and searching without luck for a fix. As stated above, I've got a 2015 era Lenovo Yoga 12 (S2?) 20DK that has been used on and off over the last 18 months. About 6 months ago it started; while flipping the screen from laptop mode to tablet mode, the screen will flicker a few times and after completing the transition to tablet the screen is off. Won't power up, nothing. Now during the act of flipping to tablet mode I can stop at certain points before folding it totally flat into tablet mode, and it will work fine (keyboard/mouse disabled, screen rotation works). There seems to be a sweet spot at about a 45 degree angle in tablet mode that it works fine. Even like that, if I even bump it a little more towards full on flipped back tablet mode, it'll shutdown. I've just been ignoring the problem for the most part but for a new job I started I need it to go into full tablet mode. Everything works fine in traditional Laptop Mode. I've tried updating the Driver, BIOS, and Windows.I've disabled the Sensor Data Service and Sensor Monitoring ServiceTried using a strong magnet on different points around bottom of bezel to "fool" any sensors Nothing is working. My gut always assumed this was hardware related due to a bad sensor of some sort but I cant find anything close to this issue using Google-Fu. Is there any "tablet emulation driver" out there that could make a standard Windows 8/8.1 desktop/laptop to be recognized as a tablet? I.e. it would make the touch keyboard pops up in Store Apps.
Or will Wacom Bamboo or Intuos Pen & Touch able to convert a regular Windows 8 into tablet mode?
The reason is that I got a HTPC and would like to use the virtual keyboard in Store occassionally. The one that comes with accessibility is not as good as the one in tablet mode.

Hi, I just purchased the X1 Yoga and have tried rotating the screen round into the tablet mode, as soon as it hits 360 degrees the computer goes into standby mode. When I change the settings for when the lid is closed to do nothing the screen still turns off. Does anyone know how to stop the screen turning off as soon as the screen is rotated? Thanks,Neel

Answer:Tablet Mode on X1 Yoga

Could be magnetic piece so when you close lid normal the energy from magnetic will make laptop screen turn off so I wonder if that magnetic is to strong so when you flip screen other way it gets enegery there to and then laptop screen goes off /sleep since it thinks your closing the lid in the normal way which you aren't, it is just my guess could be something else instead.

Question: Yoga Tablet Mode

I have a Yoga 11 and noticed that when it is in tablet mode it does not seem to hold firmly against the back side. For example if you were to hold it with the screen facing the ground in tablet mode, there is some separation between the screen side and the keyboard side. It is pretty minimal, but I assumed that it would lock into the tablet mode a bit more.Is this normal? The hinges have no problem holding the screen in other positions. Thanks!

Hi.I've been using ThinkPad Yoga for 4 days, and realized a problem regarding the rotation/orientation across the Laptop/Tent/Tablet modes. If I enter the Tablet mode (after flipping LCD to 360 degree), make several rotations with or without screen rotation lock, and come back to standard Laptop mode, then the orientation of TrackPad AND TrackPoint does not match the orientation of the screen. Does any one experience the same problem? Or, am I only one who have this problem? When I first open the box and use this machine, I didn't realize this problem. Maybe this is caused after I installed many programs and drivers.  So, I would appreciate very much if you let me know that you "don't have such a problem".It will also help me. Thank you!

I have a Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph that works without problems aside from the fact that, when I undock it from the keyboard, it doesn't detect that it should now be in Tablet Mode. Anyone have an idea how I can resolve this? I just want to seamlessly dock and undock the tablet and it should switch to tablet or desktop mode respectively.

Hello, I got my Yoga 500 a few days ago and it has started not being able to change what mode it is in. I can no longer use my keyboard, which is slightly frustrating. I am currently awaiting the Windows 10 update (it currently has 8.1), so does anyone know if the update could be a solution, as I've been reading that many people have had this problem with Windows 8.1? If not, are there any other solutions someone might know, or should I take it in somewhere? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 500 will not change out of tablet mode

Windows 10 is definitely better designed to be used in table mode and switch between a table mode and computer mode use. Despite that I expected some learning curve, I found that the Windows 10 environment is immediately very intuitive to use. When in Windows 10, you can access the table-mode settings by navigating to Windows 10 Settings > System > Tablet Mode.

My Yoga lls will not switch to tablet mode when the screen is folded over completely. The keyboard is not de-activated either when in this mode. When I turn the yoga's screen completely around (tablet position) it will not stay in tablet mode. If I open it (separate the screen from the keyboard) just a little bit or move the tablet to a completely vertical position it will reenter tablet mode, but the problem is if I tilt it from a vertical position even a little bit, it kicks me back out of tablet mode. This wouldn't really be a problem if the screen would rotate outside of tablet mode, but that's not how the device works apparently. Can someone else that has one test this?

Hi hsuan_kwok,

Thanks for posting in the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to ask you if you?re facing the same problem in the laptop mode also for the restart hanging?

1. If you are on new Start Screen, type power and Windows will automatically search for the term and will show you the results.

If you are on Desktop, move your cursor to top-right corner of screen to access new Charms Bar. Now click on Search option and type power in search box.

2. Now click on Settings link given in right-sidebar of search results page and then click on "Change what the power buttons do" link given in the search results as shown in following screenshot:

3. It'll open Power Options window. You can alternatively open the same window by typing powercfg.cpl in RUN dialog box and press Enter and then click on the "Choose what the power buttons do" link given in left sidebar.
Now scroll down to bottom and you'll see "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" option given in Shutdown settings section as shown in following screenshot

4. Disable the option by unchecking the checkbox and then click on "Save Changes" button.
PS: If the option is not shown or greyed out, scroll up and click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" link.

5. That's it. Restart your system and your reboot or shutdown problems should get fixed in Windows 8.

I was really pleased with my Yoga 510 at first but it has quickly developed some annoying issues. Most annoying is how utterly usuable it is in tablet mode. Simple things like clicking into a textbox on a web page causes a five second day. Likewise clicking into the address bar or trying to move the cursor to a new position causes the same frustrating delay. Switch off tablet mode and it instantly works perfectly. Switch back to tablet mode and you're back to frustrating delays in everything you try and do. Is there anything you can suggest because i chose the Yoga for its ability to act like a tablet when required.

Hi! I'm having quite a bit of problem with the Yoga 11s touchpad in tablet mode. My touchpad never turns off when the keyboard turns off, which is obviously annoying as it interferes with everything I do in tablet mode. I called Lenovo support, but to my dismay the only thing they could suggest is "temporarily" turnin off my touchpad. Though it's easy, it'd a nuisance as I'd have to keep turning it on and off when I switch between laptop and tablet mode... So if there's anyone out there that can help, please do. I'd be so happy if this annoying issue was fixed. Hopefully it's just a driver, etc. issue so I won't have to send my new system in..

Answer:Yoga 11s Touchpad in Tablet Mode

hi  delrosarioluis,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First check under Control Panel / Programs and features and look for your touchpad software (Synaptics, Elan )
Then Download and install this Driver.

Touchpad Driver (Elan, Synaptics) for 64-bit Windowstp112w8.exe122MB

This should refresh the touchpad driver and should disable the touchpad again when in tablet mode

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Hello, I just received a new Yoga 2 13, 8Gb, 256Gb SSD. I have been using it exclusively as a laptop. It worked just fine for a few days. I did notice once the screen flipped sideways and the keyboard turned off randomly but after turning the laptop on its side and back, everything went back to normal. Today, after closing the lid and putting the machine to sleep, then waking it up, it awoke in tablet mode with the sideways screen and turned off keyboard. To do anything I have to use the on-screen keyboard, which does work. Nothing I did could get it to go back to laptop mode, or for autorotate to ever work. Rebooted several times, no. The "Lenovo" signage does show correctly in landscape as soon as the machine turns on, but once it gets to the login window, it's back to sideways tablet mode. The auto-rotate button (which I had never touched prior) doesn't appear to do anything. I click the button, it says "autorotate off" then I click it again to "autorotate on" and still no rotation. I called Lenovo technical support, and he tried (after remote desktoping into my machine) to try a different display driver. The Windows "Basic" Driver, the Intel Driver from March 2014, and the latest Lenovo display drivers downloaded did nothing. He turned off "ycp" or something similar as a startup service, no help. In Screen Resolution, he changed the orientation of the display from portrait to landscape which did fix the orientation problem but did n... Answer:Yoga 2 13 stuck in tablet mode

Did you ever find a solution? I just bought a used Yoga 13 and have been going through hell with the touchpad and volume stuck on mute. It's as if the Yoga thinks it's in tablet mode? I've tried re installing drivers. No luck so far. I do have a pointer going with the trackpad but it's very limited. I can't access the Start menu or the Search bar.

I have a 2nd gen Yoga 11e 20E50015US . I bought it a few days ago, and from the beginning, when I close the cover halfway, it automatically goes into tablet mode, and I can't get it out unless I shut down and reboot. This even occurs though the tablet mode button in the menu is not toggled on.Sometimes when I close the lid it also goes into tablet mode.I tried to toggle the tablet mode button on and off in the menu, but it only helped once.  I set the settings so that it won't go into tablet mode without asking me, but it still does so without any input from me.This is a real infuriating problem, since the only solution I have found is to shut down and reboot. Even a restart doesen't help. I also had a problem with updating Windows 10, which ended up getting stuck and getting an error message due to a corrupt file. I ended up reinstalling Windows 10 and fixed the problem. Are these bugs common in new Yoga 11e systems, and is there an easy fix? Thanks

Hey everyone,  so I'm having the problem shown below when my yoga is in tablet mode. The image was provided by lenovo's website here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Naturally, I thought this page was the solution to my problem; however, when I tried to install the Digitizer Firmware Update for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - ThinkPad Yoga I was told that was my current version. But, I'm still having the problem... Any suggestions? Thanks.

My organization requires ctrl-alt-del before signing in, and I have noticed there is no way to do so in tablet mode.  The screen also refers to a Windows Security Button, but I don't see any buttons that would fit that description.  I've seen on other threads for other Thinkpads that volume up + power works, but since there's no volume button on the 2nd Gen Yoga, I'm not sure what to do.  Really hoping unlocking won't always require flipping into laptop mode - a minor inconvenience but one I'd like to avoid.

Hey all, I have a weird problem.  My tablet buttons have stopped working-- but only in tablet mode.  That is, I can't rotate, or bring up the tablet shortcuts, or move around the screen in tablet mode.  Also autorotate doesn't work.  But if I switch out of tablet mode, I can do all of these things just fine (except for autorotate). Also, when I switch into tablet mode the screen doesnt rotate or anything, but when I switch out of tablet mode the screen rotates to the direction I defined in the settings (sometimes.. to be honest it seems pretty random to me).  I am running 32 bit vista w/ 4 gb ram on an x61 tablet with the latest drivers.  I have uninstalled the tablet button drivers and the lenovo system interface and reinstalled them already.. I have the latest APS. Help me out here.. I have no idea why this isn't working!  Don't make me have to reinstall vista to get the buttons working.. Tha'ts ridiculous!!  Arrrgh.

Just let it find for you; that's the only thing I could recommend for this case.

Hi all,    I have a really annoying problem...my x220 tablet disconnects from the internet whenever I enter tablet mode. The internet can be working perfectly fine while in non tablet mode but as soon as I switch to tablet mode, my internet disconnects. And if I switch back to non tablet mode from tablet mode, my internet returns almost instantaneously. I can load a page in non tablet mode with no problems, switch to tablet mode and the page stops loading. If I return back to non tablet mode the page resumes loading without so much as a pause or a hiccup. Also, when I switch the computer to tablet mode, wifi networks disappear off of the "available networks" list that were there before the switch.     I've tried everything, from updating network device drivers, reinstalling network device drivers, running diagnostics, reformatting my computer, uninstalling Norton Antivirus, system restoring to days before the last known working date in normal mode and safe mode, and contacting customer support (chat and call, managed to get a hold of a rep) but none of them have worked.    I also used to have a networking log before I reformatted/system reset to factory settings and there were a ton of errors with words like avsc manager failed to "something" ... I'll reinstall the thinkpad network managing program to create another log. Can someone please help me? My last resort is calling lenovo support again to have tech support come to hel... Read more

Well, I've finally had it. I've had my 6365 CTO X60 tablet pc for over a year now and last Monday I lost pen functionality in tablet pc mode in the afternoon after working fine in the morning. It works fine, even now after rotating the screen back to laptop mode. As soon as the screen is rotated back to tablet pc mode, no pen functionality but the mouse still works fine so I know it's functional in laptop mode but rotate back, all ok!  I did uninstall the Wacom drivers, restart, and then downloaded the tablet pc, windows xp version drivers from the wacom.com site as instructed in a previous post. Unfortunately, the digitizer pen is still disabled in tablet pc mode and works fine when rotated back to laptop mode. I've called Lenovo tech support in Atlanta four times now and they've been totally useless. I wiped out my X60 tablet last Friday and used Rescue and Recovery to reinstall the operating system back to it's factory settings. I went back and unistalled and reinstalled the Wacom driver. Nothing. Since that didn't work either I've requested the box to ship this back to the Memphis Depot. Hopefully, I'll just get a new replacement machine that works but I'm so angry and frustrated w/ Lenovo's support because it's obvious that the people on the phone are not tech specialists and they couldn't even point me in a direction to get this fixed. It's cost me over a week now wo... Answer:X60 tablet pc digitizer pen functionality disabled in tablet pc mode

Problem solved! While the support folks weren't able to fix the problem over the phone, they did overnite me a prepaid return box which I sent back that day. Two days later they overnited my X60 tablet back fixed with a note saying 'LCD enabled'. I'm impressed how quickly they got my tablet pc back up and running. I'm glad I got that 3-yr. support warranty because I usually opt out of those things. This totally paid for itself. I just wish I hadn't been so reluctant to send back my laptop because I do need it for work and I figured I wouldn't get it back for at least a week or longer. I was so frustrated and pessimistic that I forgot sometimes these problems do get fixed in a very satisfactory manner. It's too bad the initial steps that led to sending it back were so painful. Bottom line: Lenovo fixed my pc quickly, no questions asked. Thanks!

Hello all! I recently bought a Yoga 3 Pro and it's been a great computer, but I've had a couple of issues with it that I was hoping someone could help me with. First, I have an issue in iTunes where if I type in any column (such as to edit the name of a song or artist), if I hit the Space, Backspace, or Delete button, the cursor will jump to the beginning of the line.  This makes it impossible to type unless I don't make any mistakes.  This is not a keyboard or hardware problem as this issue only happens in iTunes.  I have scoured the Internet and I cannot find anyone who has a problem anywhere similar to this.  I have iTunes 12 and Windows 10. Secondly, if I have a video playing (such as YouTube) in a browswer and while it's playing I switch the computer into tablet mode, the browser will disappear and the video will continue to play.  I could not figure out where the browser went.  When I switch back into desktop mode, the browser is gone but the video is still playing.  The only way I could fix this problem is to restart my computer.  I didn't like tablet mode anyway, so I turned Tablet Mode off and now when I flip the keyboard back, the desktop mode stays and I haven't had this problem since.  But if I ever decide to use Tablet Mode again, I would like to know how to solve this problem. Thirdly, when I first got the computer, YouTube videos would stutter so badly in fullscreen that they were unwatchable... Answer:FPS drops significantly in tablet mode on Yoga 13

From what I've read (by accident) in different articles throughout the net, the Yoga 13 throttles the CPU in tablet mode. Disabling the Intel Dynamic Platform Thermal Framework in the BIOS or uninstalling it in the list of programs will prevent you from the throttling. However, I'm not sure if this is healthy for the device as the framework isn't there for no reason.

hi there Clean install of Windows 10 on a yoga 2 11.6". I installed Yoga Picks from the store but that does nothing. When changing to either tent or tablet mode, the screen rotates correctly, but Windows does not switch to Tablet mode, with larger start menu etc. The Windows settings for tablet mode are set to ask when switching, but nothing happens. so, I have to manually click tablet mode from Action Centre. With Yoga Picks installed on Win8, it would notify you that it was in tent mode etc, so I guess the app does not work on Win10. Is it possible to have Windows automatically detect tablet mode on this device? Other than that, Windows 10 is great on this machine (with an SSD upgrade). Thanks

Hello, The answer is yes, because the automatic detection is working on mine.In Parameters, Tablet Mode, the first tick box is on "Activated". The second option is set to "Memorize latest choice", and the third "Always ask when switching". The BIOS is of course up to date, and the latest drivers are installed.

Hello all. I received a second-generation Thinkpad Yoga S1 12 a few days ago. Everything is working well, except tablet mode. Occasionally when I'm browsing the web in tablet mode, the device crashes. Also, whenever I switch orientations, the device almost certainly crashes. After going into task manager, I've found out that the disk usage goes up to 100% for some reason many times in tablet mode, which is most likely the culprit. I'm fairly sure the ISD_Tablet.exe driver is having a major memory leak that's causing the overusage of disk. I've already restarted, restored, and updated through both Lenovo update and Windows Update several times, but no fix has been found. Any of you guys have any ideas?

Answer:yoga 710 tablet mode not working at 360 degrees

Hello Maja1Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. As this only happens when the unit is flipped to tablet mode, it seems to be that there will be an issue with the connection on the unit.

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

I find that the fan generates too much noise on my Yoga 2 13 (not pro), even when the laptop is completely idle. It seems that somehow the temperature threshold for triggering the fan is set a bit too low (same problem seen on the lenovo yoga first version) However, I noticed that when I fold my Yoga into tablet mode the fan goes almost silent (which is awesome). Am I the only one experiencing this issue ? Is there maybe a way to set the fan speed in laptop, tent and stand mode at the same speed as in tablet mode ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards,Mat.

So, I'd like to do something a little complicated.  I know that the Yoga series actually knows when it is in each mode (Tablet, tent, etc), which is really cool, and so is the Lenovo transition program. But I'd like to do more. I'd love to be able to, say, change the size of icons, switch chrome to touch mode, and turn on/off the touchscreen keyboard when in a certain mode, among other things. I know that Windows Task Scheduler has a way to perform tasks on "Hardware Events", but I don't know if I could use that with this. What event would I use? If that is not possible, is there another way to do this? If this could be done in, say, Visual Basic or C++, I would be happy to make an app for this.  Thanks,Atravir

I've had a Yoga 13 for 3 months now and pretty much love it. However, when I use it in tablet mode the performance degrades within seconds and it seems to get quite hot. I first noticed it when playing a game. Right away, the graphics became very jerky. Then I noticed that when I work online, the internet gets very slow, only in tablet mode. Is there something that interferes with the fan when it's folded over? Is there anything I can do about it? Because it really does limit its usefulness as a tablet.

Answer:Yoga 13 quickly overheats in tablet mode

hi s2kreno,

Welcome to the Community.

Try to do the following:
1. Disable Dynamic Platform Thermal Framework (DPTF) under BIOS - this feature can dynamically configure the power limit while the Yoga 13 is used in different scenario - on tablet mode, the power limit is set to 10W). To access the BIOS under Windows, go to the UEFI Firmware Settings.

2. Set the power settings to high performance to optimize wifi / video / gaming performance

3. As for the heat, can you try to use RealTemp and monitor/compare the heat when in tablet mode / notebook mode and see the difference in temperature.

Let me know your findings,

Hi. Yoga 2 11 and Windows 8.1 is entirley new to me, so please excuse my lack of knowledge. When PC is asleep in tablet mode, I cannot get the virtual keyboard in order to log in. When I try to type, it pops up for a second or so (varies in time), but then shrinks back down. Has anyone see this and is there any way I can sort it out without refreshing Windows? The amount of work to do in reloading programmes and apps is just too painful. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful. ThanksRob

Dear Robyot

Welcome in lenovo community

Do you have a restore point already created so that you can restore your machine to this latest restore point ?

Thanks

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Tablet Mode Extremely Slow on Win 10

Ok... seems that disabling a Lenovo service called YMC (through the task manager) completely solves this issue with no negative effects. The service is in charge of disabling the keyboard in tablet mode etc., but it seems that it's redundant in Windows 10 (perhaps Windows controls this itself?). Disable, if it causes problems enable it again.

Hi everyone! I have an issue with my X1 yoga. When I turn back the lid, the laptop remains in computer moder and doesn't automatically change to tablet mode. In the settings, I've already chosen "Always switch to tablet mode". When I first got the laptop, the tablet on and off switch was very smooth when I turn back/front the lid. But after a few months use, it malfunctions... So I wonder if any software will block the function? Thank you for your help in advance!

I did go to settings and devices and clicked the box I was suppose to click. In TABLET mode, when I touch the Google bar to enter text into it, the keyboard will not appear so I have to manually launch the keyboard then when I am done I have to manually close the keyboard as there is no "DONE" or "GO" or "ENTER" button on the keyboard in tablet mode. Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi, Lenovo community. I have a problem which is that the Yoga 13 Keyboard is responding while I am using the computer in tablet mode. But when I restart the computer, it is fine. But that problem happens everyday, and it is frustrating that I need to restart the computer everytime.

The touchpad keeps working on my S1 when I go to tablet mode, which keeps me from using it on my laptop. I am running Win7 64bit. Following some other suggestions online, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the touchpad driver ver 18.0.7.100. This did not work. It would also be fine with me if there was a way that I could manually disable the touchpad, but I can't find the method. When I go to the mouse settings, I can change the mode (trackpad only, etc.) but I can't turn off the touchpad.

I've updated to Windows 10 fitst time about a month ago, and I remember interface freezing and ALL the functions really slow down as soon as you switch to tablet mode. And not only by turning the screen, but also just switching it on from the "messages" toolbar. But I've started to recieve BSOD every few hours, so I decided to do a full reset. Then I've started from plain W8.1 and updates to W10 and only then installed all the Apps I need, but surprisingly, I still expericence sane problem - it starts being really slow once you turn the screen into presentation or tablet mode. (no BSOD) Does anyone experience similar thing? Thank you! Yoga 2 pro i7 8Gb 256Gb
