Preferred Solution: On Yoga 2 Pro, which types of SD memory cards are compatible, such as SDXC?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: On Yoga 2 Pro, which types of SD memory cards are compatible, such as SDXC?

There are three form factors: standard, mini and micro. You need standard sized memory cards. See Wikipedia below. If you use micro SD or mini SD cards you need to use a adapter. Most micro and mini memory cards come with a adapter.

SDXC is not listed on the spec sheet so I assume the answer is no, but I figured I would check and see if someone could confirm before I purchase a smaller SDHC card.  I would really like a 64GB card but don't want to shell out and have to return it.

I hear they are going be coming out soon.

Yes 1TB or 2TB memory cards!! There is 16GB and 32GB cards now !! But they are very very very very costly .And when SDXC come out only the rich will be able to get it.

Why is memory cards and like flash so costly? I mean I get get 500GB hard drive or 1TB hard-drive alot cheaper !!!

Not to say with cloud computing with your data on the internet is future.

Answer:What do you think of SDXC (up to 2TB SD cards that are as fast as SATA 1 HDD's !!

Unfortunately, trying to predict how a device not yet on the market will actually perform is the geek version of fortune telling.

Using SSDs as an example, the concept of no spinning platters implied better reliability. In reality, most of the first generation SSDs were far more prone to failure than a standard 7200 RPM HDD (I worked in retail at the time; the return/RMA rate on every brand except Intel was off the charts!).

As for the price, I have a few theories: First, manufacturers of any new product attempt to recoup as much of their R&D costs as possible when it first hits the market (think of DVD players, LCD monitors, etc.). Second, it likely costs a lot less to build a standard HDD than a solid state unit - especially when you factor in economies of scale (when you produce millions each year, the manufacturing/labor cost per unit is much less than an item produced in smaller quantities).

You can use USB storage or a microSD card of any size with your Surface to store your documents, music, videos, and pictures. Surface works with standard microSD card formats?microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC. If you have a Surface Book, you can also use a full-size SD card.

I have a Satellite A500-1GH having Windows 7 64bit. I'm about to buy an SD card, and I was wondering if the SD card slot at the front of the laptop is compatible with SDHC cards and the latest SDXC cards. If so, do I need to download some software and/or drivers for these kind of SD cards to work?

SDHC is definitely compatible.

As for SDXC, I think there is a Win7 WindowsUpdate that supports SDXC.

How can I find out if my SD card reader supports SDXC cards.
My laptop is a satellite A300 and the properties of the card reader say " SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controlle".

Am I able lto use SDXC cards with this device and if not am I able to upgrade the software to support SDXC cards?

Thanks for your help

Answer:Satellite A300 - Does card reader support SDXC cards?

I read in the forum about the card reader on Satellite A300 and I found very useful info.
The card reader supports following kind of cards:

- SD Card - 8MB-2GB
- SDHC Card - 4GB
- xD picture card - 16MB-2GB
- Memory Stick - 8MB-256MB
- Memory Stick Pro - 256MB-2GB
- MultiMediaCard - 8MB-1GB
- miniSD (with SD adapter) - 32MB-2GB

As you can see teh SDXC cards are not supported... in such case I recommend using an common external USB card reader which would support the SDXC cards

I've T420s, Ricoh PICe SDXC/MMC Host Controller, and several SD cards. Right away I can say that the cards (Kingston, Samsung, Transcend) are all right, tried them on different computer and phone, they work well, so I assume this is not a card issue. I never used Card reader extensively, so I can't say if it started lately or was always like that, my T420s is about 1 year old and I'm running Windows 7 32bit. Here is the problem. Device seems to be switching on and off all the time when the card is inserted or taken out. I can say this as I'm keeping device manager window open. It seems like the connection between card reader and motherboard (?) is very bad, as I have to press on the device to pop out and press it back in to appear in the list of devices. When I plug in the card, it might actually show up, but then, when I pop out the card and pop it back it, it won't show again. So I have to take out the device itself again to have a chance of accessing my card. I've tried updating the driver from But it  didn't help. I've seen this: But even if the device appears under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there is no "Ricoh SD Disk Device" under "Disk Drives" most of the times when I insert cards. Anyone had similar issues?

Answer:Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller is working porrly with cards, T420s

Hi, answer42
I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date. If the BIOS is not up to date, the motherboard may not be fully recognizing when a card is present in the port. The latest BIOS for your machine is 1.35, and you can find that here. So definitely make sure the BIOS is up to date and see if that helps the issue.
Hope it helps,

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)
Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB
Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.
Hope this helps answer your query.

Has anyone imstalled a 64GB SDXC card and had any issies with it on the Yoga 13? I installed the card, formatted it to be safe and started using it. All seemed fine until I placed data on it. The card would cause the Yoga13 to do some or all of the following;Bog DownLock upStop seeing the SD card, it would disappear from the installed media listContinuously need to RESCAN the SD card (very slowly - 90 seconds or more), and sometimes lock up in the processKeep the Yoga from shutting down Now, I have NO issues with a 64GD USB drive, super fast loading and never causes any issues. If I remove the SD card, the problems go away. So I know the response is going to be YOU HAVE A BAD SD CARD, which is FINE, as long as I do not buy another $60-$100 card and have the sample problem, only to find out it is a driver issue that needs to be resolved on the Yoga 13. If anyone has a SD card they are happy with and have none of the issues, could you let me know the Make/Model. Also, if anyone has had the same problem and have tried multiple cards, also let me (us) know so that we can try and get the manufacturer to at least tell us a fix or update is on the way! Thanks in advance......D

Could you please tell me if the following are compatible with each other when installed into a motherboard:

I already have the former and I am upgrading my RAM, so I was wondering if I would have to discard it in order to install the latter. I was hoping I could install both together, which would save me money.

Also, Im upgrading to windows 7 - would the operating system recognise more than 4GB of RAM in this case?

I heard of RAM that is capable of working on any machines. If so, do anyone have any recommendations? Any downfalls to not having ram not made specifically for your computer?

Answer:Ram That is compatible with all types of PCs?

I have never heard of such a "magical" product... I don't see how that is possible, but of course, I could be proven wrong... You need to do one of three things... (1) View the owner's manual for the motherboard to see what kind of RAM it takes. (2) Take out your current RAM chip and take it to a store and see if they can figure things out. (3) Contant the motherboard manufacturer or view thier website for this information...[glb]Flame[/glb]

I just built a new computer with vista and an 8800 gt card. My motherboard only has 1 PCI-E slot (I don't think SLI helps much for the price) but I recently had the idea of doing a multi monitor setup to play poker.

Right now I have my main monitor 19"widescreen and my 42" LCD tv hooked up to my video card.

I want to do 2 more 19"ws if possible. I have considered getting another cheap computer and using maxivista, but it looks like that causes problems for vista and WDDM (quick google check). I just thought of another option of possibly getting an older (6 or 7 series) PCI card as I have several free regular PCI slots. Could I do this? Would this cause any problems? How would this work with games, especially with DX10 ( my secondary card wouldnt support it) ?

I don't really plan on using the other monitors for games; but it would be great if I could use one for say supreme commander, however this is not the primary focus, i just want a good multi monitor setup so I can do ~ 9 tables.

Thanks in advance for asnwering questions, I'll check this thread regularly and post followups if you need clarification on anything!

Hi, I have read on the forum that people are using the SDXC cards with their Yoga 13's.I have purchased a Sandisk 64Gb SDXC ExtremePro card but when I put it into the Card Reader a blue screen comes up saying " Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart." It also gives and error with this message saying: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (TosExt.Sys). It cannot restart again until I remove the card, the same thing happens in SAFE MODE also or if I try to start the computer with the card inserted already. The card is brand new and I bought it in a reputable shop. I have tested the card in a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 and it works fine. I have also tried to insert a different standard SD card into the Yoga but the same thing happens. I have reinstalled the driver for the reader but the problem still remains. The OS is Windows 8 64 bit. The card is in ex FAT format and I re-formatted it again just to be safe but still no luck. I was not able to find anything regarding this online but saw that some people here have similar problems.I would really appreciate if someone could help or at least let me know if there is a way of contacting Lenovo about this problem, I see that they will only accept emails regarding the ThinkPad product line.Thank you in advance and best regards to all!

Hi support,

I want to upgrade my laptop to the maximum memory it supports and as cheap as possible.

I read in the manual max memory is 16GB - I have 8GB in total today, 2 slots available.
The memory type should be SODIMM DDR3 1600MHz for what I can find out.

I notice I seem to have northbidge of Intel Ivy Bridge 09 and cpu Intel? Core™ i7-3610QM.
I read the 3610 supports 32GB or RAM. Isnt that possible then?

The memory types supported by this cpu and ivy Bridge 09 seems to be DDR3 - perhaps also DDR3L/RS ?
This intel test shows they tried mobile platforms based on Intel? 7 series chipset using 3
rd Gen Intel? Core™ i7 processors (codename Ivy Bridge) works with ddr3L. Can I trust it works in your laptop or did you limit it some way?

Also page 25 in this Intel document lists the memory models supported by the 3rd gen intel mobile family.

Why I am considering other memory types is the lower prices and easier availability and also less power needed.

Can someone who knows or designed this hardware tell me what my possibiles are here?

Thank you,
Johan Sandgren

I've just found a bargain of a XFX 8800GTX XXX and the question I have is whether it's compatible with a BFG 8800GTX OC2 in SLi mode?

The XFX card has a central clock of ~4mhz more than the BFG, but I suppose that either downclocking the XFX or overclocking the BFG should solve the problem with different clocks. The rest is the same.

Well, what do you people think?
If you help me out with this I'll become more active in the forum again

Answer:Are these cards compatible in SLi?

Hard to say, but I'd expect they wouldn't be compatible in SLI.

Nvidia says that as long as the actual GPU chip is the same model and revision, and the memory is the same, then they should be compatible. However many people have stated that combining different manufacturers cards, regardless of specs, just doesn't jive.

IMO - Unless the cards are 100% identical, you're not guaranteed that it will work.

I'm sure that's not what you really wanted to hear, but it is what it is, I guess. Bottom line, they may work, but don't count on it.

I'm looking into buying a "Rosewill Silicon Image RC-209-EX PCI External e-SATA x2/ Internal SATA x4 1.5G HDD Controller Card" and maybe im just losing it from staying up all night hardware shopping but the pci connector looked odd to me. Researching it I see that it is a Universal pci card, for 2.3 pci, compatible with 33mhz or 66 mhz.

Now my mobo has only 2.2 pci's but as i understand it 2.3 universal cards are backwards compatible with 2.2 slots, and since the card has 33mhz and 66mhz functionality, the only concern would be its voltage, which i do not know, but which seems from my research to be fine either way since 2.2 supports 3.3volts which is what 2.3 pci's are.

just wanted to double check before i shelled out the cash, that this card would probabliy work in my system.

well i just bought it, will let you know how it works

Answer:PCI 2.2 compatible with PCI 2.3 cards?

Yes, I would expect it to work.

Recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything works fine except my Belkin F5D5005 v2000 network card.

There are no drivers for it on the Belkin site and none of the older vista drivers work.

Is there a list somewhere of NIC's that are compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit since it looks like I'll need to buy a new one.

The on board network point on my motherboard works fine (realtek NIC on an Asus Fatality fp-in9 SLI mobo) but has been faulty for some time now.

Any advice?

Answer:PCI Network cards - which are compatible?

Welcome footwo, here's a link but you might want to pick out a model and check the manufacture's website to see if they are posting w7 drivers before you commit.

Hello! My computer recently took a dive beyond my ability to repair myself. I just purchased a new tower from ebay to replace it, this one:

I know its nothing fancy and I don't care much to hear "oh you should have just spent 700 dollars on this computer or that computer because the one you bought is junk" that seems to be the response I've gotten from people on other websites after asking this question. I have an Asus republic of gamers laptop that I use for my real system intensive games, all I really want to be able to run nice on this new desktop is WoW and similar games, maybe left 4 dead and bioshock, that type of thing.

Anyhow - My original plan with this "new" desktop was to take my 4 gigs of ram (2 2gb sticks) and my video card ( ) out of my now broken pc and simply put them into the "new" desktop. But I am looking at the pictures of the inside of tower (on the ebay page i linked above) and it seems to me that I will not be able to fit my card into the PCIe slot, It appears in the picture that the case fan is going to be in the way of the fan assembly on the video card. Would it maybe be an option to relocate the case fan a little bit just to get it out of the way of my video card? Or am I going to have to fork out money for a new skinnier video card? If so, can anyone giv... Read more

Please can someone tell me what mini-pci Wifi cards are compatible with the Satellite P10-304 laptop?

I have tried a broadcom 4318 with no look.
It installs the hardware as seen in device manager but can not find any networks (think there is a conflict with the motherboard)

Tried an Azure AW-GM100 which has a conflict message as soon as the laptop posts.

Regards in advance

Answer:Which Wi-Fi cards are compatible with Satellite P10-304?

Theoretically the most WiFi cards should work but the best way would be if you take a WiFi card that was delivered with a Satellite P10 notebook.

I don?t know which cards was delivered with this notebook but I have a little bit search here in the forum and I founded a thread that could be interesting for you:

I'm looking for a new PC right now, but the new DX10 cards releasing soon are going to be a little too expensive for me I think, since there's only about 2 on the horizon for now anyway. My question is: If I buy a new PC now would I then need to upgrade the motherboard when I made the eventual switch to DX10? The G80 looming for example, will it be compatible with the current mboards or will it have a new standard behind it?Ideally, rather than holding out for a while before buying a new system I'd like to get one now (I'm a uni student - work to be done) and simply be able to install a new graphics card later when I need it. I'm not a big PC gamer, only occasional plays of sims 2 and pro evo 6 for me, so a top-end card isn't essential for now. I would like to be able to play Spore when it's released though...

Answer:DX10 Compatible Cards

When DX10 is released graphics card makers will have had time to release updated drivers that will be able to exist with DX10.All you need to do with a new PC is check the cards website and update the drivers...

Answer:Are PCI Express Cards all compatible with >

You should be able to fit any PCI express graphics card into any PCI express equiped motherboard. The DDR3 refers to the type of video memory used on the card and will not affect compatibility with the motherboard.

OK, I took a chance and purchased an ATI Radeon 9600 with 256MB on board. I meet all the minimum requirements and it's all recognised and setup apart from the memory on it.Should be 256MB as above.... I've installed all the software and set it all up, but the software I'm wanting to run (Battlefield 2) dosn't run. Using the EA Easy info option the game installs, it's not acknowledging the 9600's RAM.... have I missed something or am I just being excessively stupid ?

Hello all, I have owned my Lenovo V570 for 3.5 years, and it's still doing reasonably well after some upgrades.  However, I have been having trouble with the wireless card ever since Windows 8 came out, even after updating to the latest drivers from the Intel website.  I have the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 6150 card.  The connection frequently becomes "limited," especially shortly after I wake it up from sleep mode.  And it's only this computer that this happens to, since none of my other computers or devices show this behavior, so it's not my router(s). I recently bought a new wireless card to replace this one, also from Intel, but that is when I ran into the notorious "whitelist," and my card didn't make the cut.  (Too new to be on the whitelist, I suppose). So I consulted the user's manual, which has a list on Pg. 78 of the compatible wireless cards.  ( However, when I search for these on Newegg or Amazon, nothing comes up!  (Go ahead, try searching for Intel 6250NX, for example!) I need a wifi card that can support 5 GHz, since I live in an apartment complex, and the 2.4 GHz band is completely saturated. Any recommendations on cards that will work with my laptop and Lenovo's ridiculous whitelist?

Answer:Compatible Wifi Cards

Hi mollycule,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If your aim is a 5ghz wifi band. This is your best bet
The Whitelist cards for this model supports only 2.4 bgn, So even if you found a card that's on the whitelist, The 5ghz channel that you want might still not work.
Hope this helps

I have an integrated ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics and i'm interested in getting a video card to put in. Does it have to be a ATI brand or would any brand work? The system is a Gateway DX4200-09. Any comments would be appreciated. Also I tried putting in a GeForce 9600 GT but after a while the screen freezes while gaming and I have to restart the whole computer.

Answer:Compatible Video Cards

That card should be good enough as a basic upgrade, that is if you have upgraded the the PSU too. 300W is not nearly enought, you neeed 450W minimum otherwise you will get problems.

Have you upgraded the PSU?

I have installed a Radeon 7000 64mb AGP and it appears to not be very good. When I try to watch videos online it freezes and you can only hear sound. First, does anyone have any suggestions for what the problem might be? Secondly, can anyone point me in the direction of a website that will tell me the cards that are compatible with my PC? I tried installing a Geforce 5200 128mb but I just got a "no signal" so I'm thinking my PC wouldn't run it. It's an EMachines T2341. Emachines tech support won't help me because it's been over a year since I bought it.

Answer:Compatible video cards?

If your AGP slot is 4x (or 8x), it should be able to run any current AGP card (4x or 8x), Geforce 5200 included.

If you are unsure, use EVEREST.

If you are still unsure, post the log as an attachment and someone will look at it for you. (don't copy and paste the log, only attach it please)

As far as the video problem, that could be codec related, or your internet connection etc.

Does it only have this issue online?

Something that I'm simply stumped on...

Disk types (CD+RW, CD+R, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW), drive types, and format types(different versions of UDF, mastered, etc).

I thought I had the basic gist of it, until I was trying to get a driver onto a disk to use in an old 98 machine. I simply could not understand it.

All of the different disk types, format types, what's compatable with what... Even when I see charts like the one in Windows Vista's Help and Support page, I'm still confused.

Is there any website or someone here that can spell everything out? All the differences between format types, all of this write once business, or write to more than once but can't erase, or only format once, all that stuff that doesn't ever seem to be the case when you actually go to burning files and formatting?

Answer:disk types, format types and drive types

The HowStuffWorks website is fairly good for this, example on CDs

Main Computers page

But quickly and as simple as possible off top of head.

CDR or DVDR disks allow you to write once on these with no erase, however if you format one of these disks to UDF ( drag and drop ) by formatting them as such, you can write data to them, then at later date add more data, and add more data, until the disk is full, if you finalise any CDR/DVDR you cannot add more data to them as they are locked.

CDRW or DVDRW disks allow you to write and erase data many times.

The new motherboard that I am getting can handle PC3200/PC2700/PC2100/PC1600, what I am wanting to know is what is the main difference between these types of memory. Is it the higher the number the faster the speed or is it better to match it to the processor in some way.

Answer:memory and the different types

Yes, the higher the number the faster the speed. But it all depends on the processor you have, as the Front Side Bus (FSB) of the processor can differ, and also to the motherboard you have as there is a Memory Bus speed too (these are the speeds you have mentioned).PC1600 is 200Mhz, PC2100 is 266Mhz, PC2700 is 333Mhz, PC3200 is 400MhzLook for the memory that best suits your processor, i.e. an Athlon 2200+ uses a 266Mhz FSB, so get PC2100. A P4 2.53Mhz CPU runs at 533Mhz, so buy the fastest memory you can get (PC3200) for the best performance.

I am trying to check out a custom-built pc from hereTere are about ten options to buy 1 GB.What is the difference between all those memory options besides the obvious size, and is it better to get 2 sticks or a single one?I have always taken memory for granted and I really have had enough for one week of intensive hardware studies without taking a phd in SDRAM.If it matters, I will be getting an Athlon 64 3500 socket 939 Wincester core cpu and an Asus K8T800PR motherboard. I am looking to buy either 512MB or 1 GB depending on what I can afford. Thanks in advance for your advice.Paula.

Answer:RAM: Types of memory

you should be looking at a minimum of 512mb for windows xp nowdays but if you can stretch the finances to get 1gig the all the advice is the 'original' pc3200 in either flavour 512mb or 1gig should do you fine. the corsair and kingston brands are favored by overclockers that wish to wring out every last drop of performance from thier systems and are top quality ram. its up to you if you wish to pay the extra.£24.26p extra for corsair may be worth it if the 'original' ram is generic unbranded.

Hi, I posted the same topic about a week ago. Sorry for posting the same thing over, but I couldnt find the thread no more. I'll post again and check it in a few hours instead of waiting a week.

Anyone knows whats the major difference between DDR SDRAM and RDRAM, and also which is better?

Answer:Help with Memory types.

SDRAM was around during the P2-P3 days, and is sometimes used on new motherboards. DDR RAM offers twice the speed of SDRAM, because it sends data on the up and down trips...this is much more commonly used on new motherboards. RDRAM is faster than DDR, but it costs a lot more, and as much as Intel tried to use it with their new motherboards, it just wasn't catching on. So technically, RDRAM is the best out of the 3, but DDR is most commonly used now. Niether one is compatible with the other, so if you're going to buy RAM, make sure you know what you have first.

I purchased an Asus Geforce GTX 750ti graphgics card to install in my Lenein H50 50 PC. On the store's website it said that the maxmium wattage output that the pc required to run that graphics card was 150 watt. On the graphics card box it says the munimum requirement is 400 watt. Is this going to be OK? Also, in terms of physically installing it, thew card requires a free PCI express slot. I know nothing about the internal workings of PCs but when I opened up the case, I do not see anything thet resembles a PCI express slot. If this card is not compatible, can anyone suggestr a similar card that would be. Thanks, Paul

It looks like that should work. Your power supply can handle it, and I see a PCI express slot on your computer's motherboard on the hardware manual. I'll suggest to get it from a retailer with retun policy, just in case it doesn't

They recommend buying the card from them, and that is understandable from a marketing perspective, and considering the prices they have. But similar cards (based on the same chip) are available from third parties at a fraction of the cost. They should work, unless lenovo blocks them using some identification built into their own cards, to give no choice than buyin from them. I am interested if anyone has tried "similar" wwan cards from thirs parties, and how did those cards work, or not.In particular, I am interested in Ericsson H5321gw cards. Thanks.

My frames instantly Drop from 60 to 30-40 whenever Anything including a group of monsters came onscreen and when i use slightly graphical demanding skills, my frames will drop as low as 20 in a matter of seconds. the Reccomended specs for this game is windows XP, 800 Hz if that gives a little insight on how easy it should be for my comp to play this game.

Heres the comp:

Here are my specs.

You'd have to get a Lenovo branded card too, and I don't think a patched BIOS is available for the newest generation yet.

Hello, I have a mediatek RT3290LE WiFi+Bluetooth card installed on my 4440s ProBook. It has poor driver support on linux. Can I switch to Intel Centrino 2230/6235? I understand there some laptops restricted by bios to use only certain cards, and any advice on what cards would likely work would be helpful. Thank you.     From Manual: From support page:

Specifically, my mobo has 2 PCIe 2.0x16 slots. I would like to know if a card that specifies PCIe 3.0x16 will work on my mobo. I'm looking to upgrade my video card, but not my whole system just yet.

Answer:Are video cards backwards compatible?

Thanks so much for the reply, I was hoping they would be. It's just that now, I'll be spending a lot more money on a video card!

Nowhere in the documentation does it tell you which 3 cards are compatible. It is the same size as a PCMCIA slot but that does not work.

Anyone know which 3 cards can be used?

Answer:Satellite L350-277 - Which cards are compatible?

First of all this is not a PCMCIA slot. It?s an ExpressCard slot!!!

I have checked the user manual and I did find the following information:
+ExpressCard slot allows you to install an ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54 to expand functionality.+

What do you say now? ;)

I don?t know where you did find this information about ?3 cards? but the card reader can read SD/SDHC/MS/MS Pro/MMC memory cards.

Hello, I have a p7-1234 with an upgraded power supply running an AMD r7-250 2gb GPU. I would like to know what the most powerful, best card that I can use with this older computer. Thank you for your help!

Answer:Looking for a list of compatible Graphics cards

Coolartcaleb, welcome to the forum. HP doesn't have a list of video cards that are compatible with their computers.  However, newer cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  There is no way to upgrade the the BIOS to UEFI. The last video cards that didn't require UEFI are the GT 640's.  Your best option is to choose a manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best card for your computer. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Thats my mobo. As you can see, it supports agp 8x. I had problems w/ a 9600se that came from a clanmate. The card worked when he shipped it, when it came to me it didn't. My moniter kept saying "No input". I was pissed, and eventaully today got a agp 4x card to test out the agp slot. (mx400). It works fine and dandy.

Now, I plan on RMA'ing the 9600se. But one of my other clanmates said that the card may not be broken, and maybe my mobo cant support new gfx cards. (something about voltage being too high)

I trust him, for he owns a computer shop, but then, why would my mobo be 8x compatible if they don't work?

Do you think the card is messed up or my mobo? Thanks!

Answer:8x AGP cards not work on 8x compatible mobo?

Your power supply could be insuficient. What's the wattage on your power supply. What are the amps on the +12v rail?

I need to upgrade my video card (I currently have a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX) but I'm not sure how to check whether the cards I'm looking at on eBay are going to be compatible with my system. Has anybody got any advice on how I can go about checking?

My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-7DXE and I think the following information may be relevant, Expansion Slots; 1. 1 x AGP 4X, 2. 5 x PCI slots support 33MHz and PCI 2.2 compliant

Does this mean that a Card that has AGP 8X won't work with my motherboard?

Thanks for any advice.

Answer:Advice on compatible video cards

No an AGP 8x card can be run at AGP 4x, you can change it with an application called Rivatuner.

I built a computer for a friend whos mother board went bad (old AT computer). The new computer worked great at my place. when he
plugged in his older monitor It went black. He had another one kicking around and he was able to get it to come up with 16 colors etc. but it wouldn't shut down when you shut down the computer. He had to download the drivers for the video card to get the resolution back. the video card is a PNY GForce4mx440 with 64megs of DDR RAM. Is there an issue with older monitors and newer video cards? Can one hurt the other? Thanks in advance for the help.

Answer:Are old monitors compatible with new video cards?

The only thing I see that would be a problem with an older monitor is that you may have trouble finding the right driver for the monitor and and older monitor doesn't have as many hours left as a new one.

Hi,I have Thinkpad T410 2537-BU1 and from lenovo support it is stated "WWAN upgradeable" . I've already opened the laptop and there's no WWAN card so my newbie questions are:Does the antenna already exist within the laptop and I only need to buy a WWAN card? If so are all these cards compatible (Ericsson F3507g, Ericsson F3607gw,HUAWEI EM660) and I can buy anyone of the them plugin and get drivers and that's all?If nope then how can I upgrade the laptop for WWAN? Thanks.

Go to Solution.

Answer:T410 compatible WWAN cards.

WWAN upgradeable means that the machine has been issued with thw corresponding WWAN antenna and simcard reader. Proof for that should lie in the fact that in the spot where the WWAN card needs to be fitted, two wires (blue and red) are available to connect to the card. Their connectors are fitted with rubber caps to prevent a short-circuit when not in use. You can only use original Lenovo WWAN cards. For WWAN cards the Lenovo BIOS contains a whitelist that limits the number of cards you can use. To find out which card you need you can check the following link: In essence, you can use the following:60Y3183 - Gobi 2000 - worldwide use, CDMA and UMTS/HSDPA60Y3225 - Leadcore for China Mobile60Y3227 - Huawei for China Telecom Just fill in the partnumber on eBay
