Ideapad 500 Windows 10 webcam not working

Question: Ideapad 500 Windows 10 webcam not working

I can't seem to get my webcam to turn on. My Privacy settings are all open and I have run the software and LSC scanning. LSC says it's ok and passed the tests. But when I look in Device Manager it does not list there. I downloaded the software from Lenovo and installed it, it still doesn't show in Device Manager.

Preferred Solution: Ideapad 500 Windows 10 webcam not working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all, I have a Lenovo Y550, and my integrated webcam is not working.I orginally had Windows 64 bit, but I installed Windows 7, and my webcam is not working. I've tried pressing Fn+Esc (I get a message that reads "There is no camera installed on this computer." I've tried reinstalling the "camera" drivers in the D: drive. I've also tried to download the drivers from the Lenovo website. Nothing seems to work. If anyone has any advice as to how I can go about fixing this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Eric

Answer:IdeaPad Y550 Webcam not Working

make sure your function keys working, re-install power management, then press fn + esc to activate camera, then install the drivers.installing drivers manually may also help you if you can't install.make sure you install correct drivers for 32 or 64 bit.by the way, is it upgrade or clean installation?

Hello, On Windows 10. Just bought this laptop couple weeks ago. Decided to try and skype for the first time. Camera didnt turn on. Camera doesnt show up in the Lenovo Settings App. In Device Manager, Easy Camera was actually hidden. Had to unhide it from the View menu. Message in the device is: Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. I have searched the forums and saw the post where simply activating using the F8 hotkey works for someone. It does NOT work for me. Any advice?? Thanks

I purchased my Y 500 just a few days back, while the laptop is perfectly functional otherwise the inbuilt webcam and microphone array just don't seem to work no matter what I do. Here is a list of what I have already tried after reading other posts: 1. Reinstalled drivers2. Fn + Esc3. Reinstalling energy management 4. Checking hardware in device manager It's like the camera doesn't exist it won't even appear in device manager.  Though the mic is displayed here, device manager says it is working properly yet I can't seem to make it record. I tried testing the camera with skype, youcam and testmycam webpage... the result was, all of them concluded I don't have an in-built webcam. I also tried attaching an external mic this works well enough but it is not a solution to my problem. Apart from opening up the screen panel I have done everything I can think of, the local lenovo customer care didn't provide much help either. I don't want to believe this is a hardware defect but that seems most likely, if any of you have a solution please help me out.

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad S300 running Windows 8 and initially had difficulty in getting it to update but, with help from several websites, managed to resolve this problem. However, I never managed to get the integrated webcam to work. The application would launch but the camera screen is blank. Device Manager advises that the device is working properly and the drivers are up-to-date. Incidently, this particular notebook does not have the hotkey (F9) to switch the integrated camera on/off but, I understand, on later versions Fn+Esc is supposed to perform the same function; it does not. The system has two associated programs, Lenovo EasyCamera and Lenovo YouCam.

More recently I have updated to Windows 8.1 but the integrated webcam still does not work. Can anyone please advise what I might be doing wrong or what I could do to get the webcam to work. I'm a bit of a newbie, particularly as far as Windows 8 is concerned. Regards.

Answer:Integrated Webcam on Lenovo Ideapad S300 not working.

Have you tried re-installing the webcam driver? I have a Lenovo at home and mine was ok when I upgraded, but I removed all the Lenovo drivers for the webcam. (As I hate all the rubbish companies put onto new equipment)

Also when you run the camera app does it detect a camera? Usually Windows 8 will ask for a camera to be plugged in. If it shows a blank image does the white light next to the lens turn on?

---------My laptop model is Inspiron 17R 5720 and Im having the exact same problem after the Microsoft Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607: August 31, 2016 - KB3176938, done Sep 4th. I was also already running Win10 and it didnt mess with Webcam Central - till yesterday when I gave the reboot necessary to install the update files.Pan/Zoom/Position Arrows show as available to be used but if you try to use then, nothing happens and back to full zoom. Only thing it allows me to do is to change to Face Tracking.I called Dell Suport Center and for about 2 hours I ran diagnostics and tried possible solutions with the tech assistant but he wasnt very helpfull at all. All diagnostics came back with positive/OK/passed results and they offered me a paid support to fix the problem. Not exactly a good solution, is it?It was clear though MS updates messed up with the webcam driver - I checked myself at Devices/Imaging there was an update for the driver done exactly when MS updates were done. Unfortunatelly, the rollback option wasnt available. For that matter, I decided to uninstall the whole Windows KB3176938 and CAPICOM (what ever that is) updates done using Control Panel/Updates but no-go. I've owned this laptop for quite a while and had been using Webcam Central to control the Integrated Webcam on my Alienware M17x R4.   I never had any issues using Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or even Windows 10 until my system updated on 8/20/2016 with a scheduled Windows 10 update.
After the windows 10 update my system restarted and the next time I went to use my webcam I noticed that I couldn't control the pan / zoom / or tilt or alter any of the settings in webcam central.  If I attempt to change anything it automatically changes back instantly.  For example of I move the slider to zoom, or attempt to change the pan, it auto goes back to where it was and will not allow me to change the settings.
I also notice that my mouse pointer flickers over the webcam central GUI, meaning, there seems to be some issue with the GUI after the windows 10 update, I assume is also whats causing the settings not to be changed.
I have tried uninstalling both the drivers and software and reinstalling to no avail, same problem is present after reinstallation of both drivers and the webcam central software.
Wondering if anyone else has run into this and whether there was some type of resolution.
I was able to get the pan / zoom / tilt working with 3rd party webcam software, however I would prefer to go back to using webcam central.

Hi folks,I own a Ideapad S10-3 shipped with Windows 7 Starter.Because Windows XP is much faster on this machine, I installed Windows XP Professional SP3.After Installation I downloaded all S10-3 Windows XP drivers available at the lenovo site for S10-3.No installations problems so far, the webcam was working and recognized as Lenovo EasyCameraVendor ID: 5986 Product ID: 0190 Rev: 1409. Driver Provider is displayed as "Vimicro"After a few days using the netbook, one day i started windows and the new hardware found wizard started and recognized a new USB Video device and installed the UVC driver from Windows. This "new" device has Vendor ID: 0ac8 and Product ID: 3450 Rev: 0130. The old webcam with the old IDs isnt shown anymore in the device manager. (only if you set var "devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" and enable "show hidden devices")When i try to use the webcam the light beside the webcam turns on, but no picture is displayed. No matter which program i try, the webcam isnt working anymore.Because of the different device ID it isnt possible to install the lenovo webcam driver, but basically the webcam should work with the UVC driver provided by windows. I find it totaly strange that the webcam is showing up suddenly with a different device id.When windows is running theres an process VM322_STI.exe running, its part of the Webcam driver and gets installed. This is the second S10-3 Netbook on which i have this problem, i returned the first one because of this problem. Is someon... Answer:ideapad S10-3 Webcam Problem with Windows XP

IT's working again... very strange ... the driver on the lenovo site for this webcam seems faulty, i uninstalled it, and after the reboot the old cam with the old device id is back in the device manager ... i now use the uvc driver and NEVER install the lenovo driver again... just because of the driver i returned my first s10-3 .Also very interersting: After the cam didnt work in Windows XP anymore, i recovered the original Win7Starter from an complete hdd image (which i made before installing win XP) and in Win7 the cam wasn't working too. Because of that i never thought that it was a driver problem, because the driver and windows xp was deleted when i recovered the original win7.so my recommendation: DO NOT install the lenovo driver, let Windows XP use its own UVC driver.

Hi, I'm having trouble with my webcam(s) on my Ideapad z500 since i upgraded it to windows 10. I've read on here already that it is not recommended to upgrade to windows 10 however I was not aware it would be a problem. I got offered the upgrade through windows 8.1 and didn't think anything of it. I aldready fixed a problem with screen brightness.  However I have two problems concering webcams at the moment.I've taken video of them as describing them seemed difficult for me.  https://youtu.be/J1K0Y6k8ElwThis displays how my onboard camera acts when it's activated. As you can understand, this is quite annoying when talking to someone. https://youtu.be/UaDcc1aWfigThis displays my trouble selecting a different webcam when trying to use it in Google Chrome. Using a different webcam to resolve the previous problem is not an option since I can't select another webcam. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance,Koen

I was mortified when I recieved this message on a laptop that was barely used but was now over one year old. Troubleshooting steps on Lenovo's site ended up referring to repair shop.   I watched a few video's on how to service the LED LCD display and looked over the service manual to find a solution.  Disclaimer Note: I take zero responsibility if you do this and fail or damage something. My unit was out of warranty and I have a lot of experience inside these things. So what works for me, may not work for you. 1. Completely shutdown the computer.  The machine must be totally shutdown and not in a sleep mode.2. Unplug AC/DC power adapter3. Removing the bezel around the LCD display was easy.    -be very gentle prying this off with your finger tips from the inside lip and don't put any pressure on the LCD screen. Any pressure on the LCD screen especially the bottom edge can cause damage.    -start at the top center of the bezel and work down each side and do the corners and bottom last.4. Re-seating the tiny cable connected to the webcam was not so easy; but, I did it with a plastic prybar, bright light, and magnifying glass.    -if not carefull here you could easily do some damage.5. Loosen up the slack on the cable by re-routing it a bit.6. Carefully snap the bezel back on. (It turned out that the cable does not stay connected because of to much tension on the cable. Basically the cable is a bit to... Read more

The problem simply is, the webcam stopped working for some reason, an error messeage says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".

I noticed that whenever I put the computer in sleep mode I was getting on the icon tray a notification says "USB device unrecognized"... I wasnt aware what it was - thought it becasue of the USB mouse being plugged... but I think its related to the camera...

software is installed but camera is not working and cant enable it .. I did download the latest driver from toshiba site , but still not working ...

Currently my laptop runs Vista HP SP2 32-bit, Windows defender enabled, Windows Firewall Enabled, Windows UAC enabled, Kaspersky Ani-Virus 2009 Enabled. I only use Windows Live Messenger (which up to date I think , version : 14.0.8089.726) which i used camera with, I quite using face recognition long time ago and rarely use the webcam ... I didnt install or update any drivers and used to have the laptop running perfectly..

So what happened now ?!

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: webcam stopped working - Webcam driver open fail

Hi

I have had a similar error message and could solve this by disabling the webcam software from startup.
In msconfig -> Start Up tab I have unchecked the Chicony webcam software.
This prevents it from automatic loading.
I don?t use MSN but Skype and the Chicony webcam software is always disabled (not executed) if Skype is running.

Maybe you should try this too.

Furthermore you could try this:
Go to device manager, mark the webcam (imaging devices ? USB video device) and deleted it from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook and wait until the webcam has been recognized again.

Then test it.

After trying to load the webcam i get the message: "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer"

I have tried updating the Driver software for the camera, and updated the BIOS.

This message still keeps coming up. Is it worth uninstalling the camera completely then attemtping to reinstall it?

Sorry if some of this doesnt make much sense, im not entirely "computer savvy"

I hope somebody can help,

Of course!

You should firstly go to device manager and should uninstall the driver.
You should also remove the software from control panel -> Software

After that you should clean the OS and registry using CCleaner. It?s free tool? google?
Then reboot the notebook several times and install the webcam software again.

Cheers

Recently my webcam has just stopped functioning. This laptop is brand new however and I just got it on the 14th.
I have no clue why it wont' work anymore. I checked under device manager and under Imaging devices its called "facap, FastAccess Video Capture".
I enabled it, for some reason it had become disabled, and it wouldn't work. And it seems no Driver updates are available. Also have tried reinstalling the driver but it didn't work. I then uninstalled the old driver and tried to install the driver and it failed. So I used Windows Restore Point feature thing. Now its just disabled.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

I found my solution!    Though... it kinda is a "Doh!" kinda thing.
Apparently FN+F9 will enable or disable the webcam!
It seems that I had done this inadvertently at some point and turned it off, and while messing around for a solution the other day, II tried the combo it turned back on the webcam!
Quite a powerful key combination I have to say if manually enabling the web cam and reinstalling the web cam driver don't do anything.

If I try the "On-line search" option, it fails to find the driver.Installing Toshiba Web Camera Application [doesn't work either]Reinstalling Toshiba System Settings app.Searching on-line by the hardware ID for the drivers.

But it's no use, i'd need the driver files to make it work again.

Good afternoon everybody, hope you had a great Christmas.

Unfortunately, one of the gifts I received this Christmas, a webcam (specificially, this webcam), refuses to work on my Windows XP Home computer.

The drivers appeared to install fine (although there was a warning about a missing streamci.dll, which I later put into my system32 folder), however when I try to view the webcam by going into My Computer > Webcam, it gives the following error message -

I realised that it may be a hardware problem, but the product works fine on a friend's Win XP Home laptop with similar specification. To make sure it was a fault with my computer in particular, I tried the webcam function of a conventional digital stills cam and the result was the same - worked fine on the laptop, but the same error occured on my computer. Consequently, I posted the problem here, suspecting it was related to my Win. XP installation as opposed to a hardware fault.

If anyone has any idea how I could go about trying to fix this problem, I would be hugely grateful. Is there any part of Windows I could reinstall or repair relating to its webcam support?

A massive thanks in advance to anyone who can give any help whatsoever.

PS: Service Pack 2 is installed on both systems.

Answer:Windows' webcam component not working(?)

First go to the device manager and check you’re USB for any flags. If there is a flag, remove the device that it is beside and restart the computer and have windows replace it. If there is no flag go into the BIOS and check and see if the USB port is enabled or disabled make sure that it is enabled.

So recently my computer was re-installed with a fresh copy of windows 7, and not the packard bell windows 7 previously installed.

Everything works perfectly except my webcam, which doesn't seem to work at all or with any program.

I think this could be because I don't have the webcam driver installed as this driver wasn't included in this version of windows 7.

I have scoured the download section of the Packard bell website and there is no webcam driver listed with the other drivers for this computer.

I can't even find the driver after doing a google search :(

What do I do???

My computer is a Packard bell Easynote TK37.

Thank you :)

Answer:Re-installed windows 7, webcam not working :( help!

go to packard bells website and download it from there. It is not in the driver section, it is in the application section.

WEBCAM NOT WORKING. I have a Toshiba DX730 All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 10. Since I upgraded to Windows 10 my integrated webcam has not worked. I have unsuccessfully tried the following:-

1. Checked the BIOS to ensure the webcam is enabled - it is.

2. Uninstalled/installed the appropriate drivers from Toshiba Support numerous times, including after a clean boot.

3. Uninstalled the hardware from Device Manager numerous times. An interesting point here is that the webcam does not appear in Device Manager under Imaging Devices, but is shown under Other Devices as USB 2.0 Camera, next to which is the dreaded yellow exclamation mark. Right clicking this and selecting Properties always shows that no driver is installed. I've run Driver Update and pointed it to the appropriate folder, but Windows always fails to find the driver.

4. Uninstalled Skype, just in case it was causing a conflict.

5. Run the software in compatibility mode.

None of this has worked!! When I open the Camera app the following error message appears "Something went wrong. Make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another app". Skype cannot detect a webcam.

Any help would be much appreciated.

hi everyone...
i'm a newbie here, desperately need some help regarding to this issue
my laptop is ASUS A42F, I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64x

before i re-install windows 7 ultimate, built in camera was working properly. and now my webcam is nowhere to be found, oh and ASUS hotkey utility also not working properly after i re-install it.

i've been searching all over the web for the last 4 days
tried by uninstalling n installing the built-in camera driver but it's still not working.

i checked in device manager, imaging devices, properties in the general tab and it says something like this in the location info:

0000.001d.0000.001.001.000.000.000.000 and it says "this device is working properly"

out of curiosity i also tried another cam/ plug-in usb webcam (it's still work properly in my friend laptop) and the result still the same, nothing happened in my laptop. the location info also says something like i mention above.

it's like my webcam is lost somewhere in my laptop, I hv no idea why windows won't detect it?

can anyone help me, i would really appreciate all your efforts, hope i could get some clue of what happen and resolve this issue. thank u

I've finally found a way to resolve the inverted / vertically flipped / upside down webcam issue with the Chicony camera in the X220T and others when viewed with the Windows 10 Camera App.  FIrst, install the Windows 7 webcam driver for the X220T. This will create an error in the Windows 10 Camera App.  Then install the ThinkVantage Communications Utility. In the Windows Control Panel, click "Hardware and Sound", then "Lenovo - Web Conferencing". In the "Advanced Camera Settings", check "Flip" until the webcam image is the right way up.  Now, in Device Manager, go to "Imaging Devices", then right click on "Integrated Camera" and click "roll back driver". If this option is greyed out, click "Update Driver", "Browse my Computer", "Pick from a list", select "USB Video Device", then click next.  The webcam driver now in use should be the default one from Microsoft. However, if you go back to the Windows 10 Camera app, the webcam image is the right way up! Hooray! P.S. Considering the solution is so simple (probably due to some entry in the registry), I wonder why Lenovo hasn't already issued a permanent fix for this?

In Device Manager, under Monitors, it shows Dell S2340T (HDMI), but does not show anything under videos. I updated my Windows from XP to 7 as it crashed and now Ive updated it to Windows 10, and I think I lost all the drivers then.

Have you r-installed skype?

Does it do the same thing when booted in safe mode (F8)?

is the driver installed and working (in device manager)??

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

what driver did you install? was it win 7, vista, or??????

What firewall, antivirus are you using. Current version of WLM?
We could also use the system specs (lower left corner) filled in so we know what hardware you have. 32bit or 64? clean install or upgrade?

I have a Logitech C250 webcam. As soon as I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, I was no longer able to connect to people through Logitech Vid or Skype. I plugged the camera into my second computer with XP and it works fine.

I have uninstalled the drivers and software from my Windows 7 machine and got new software and drivers from Logitech's site specifically for Windows 7, but it still won't work. Logitech support is worthless. They blame my connection but it works just fine on other machines.

Any help would be great!

Hi,
Could somebody possibly help me out? I've just upgraded from windows 7 to 10 and my webcam (inbuilt on laptop) doesn't seem to be working. I've checked the settings within the camera app and they seem fine. Also have an issue with viewing YouTube videos on Edge - I can't view them (?). Help/pointers appreciated - thanks!

Regarding camera, check device manager. If there is exclamation or x mark there, you probably need to install a driver. Get the driver from the laptop website. You should be able to use windows 8 driver if 10 is not available.

Hi,

I've just bought a Samsung R580 and the built-in webcam is working fine on skype and everything else except for msn messenger. When I connect on video chat with someone, I can see myself but they can't see me and I can not see them, checked my firewall settings- using Mcafee and windows live messenger has full access. I also tried it with my Logitech Quickcam, downloaded softwares too... same thing, I can see myself - webcam is working but people can't see me and I can't see them. Funny thing is it worked once briefly.

And on another chat platform, video is connecting fine but unable to connect to server. It occasionally connects briefly then logs off in 2 minutes.

My computer is fairly new...that's why this issue is driving me crazy! I use skype and messenger a lot because I'm currently stationed in Europe. When I first arrived everything worked great. Then, the voice went out on Skype so we started using Yahoo messenger..then the camera went out on messager...I went and bought both an external webcam and microphone and neither would work at the same time but every once in awhile one would work. Currently I can get voice on skype and that's it. Skype doesn't even give me the option of a webcam anymore and when i try with messenger it says no connection found. I'm not a computer smart person and I've tried and tried to get the camera working. I have no idea what to do about it now..I'm almost to the point of just buying another computer. Hello,I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems. Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine. In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works. The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video. I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera. In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147 and says "This device is working properly." But it does not work properly.Did anyone get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere. Thank you!

Answer:W520 webcam no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I'm really sorry to hear that when you try to use webcam in your Lenovo ThinkPad W520, you are getting a crossed camera image.

Check if your camera is in normal or private mode. This could be happening because you might have set your camera in private mode.
Go into Lenovo Settings App on Metro view, and select camera.
There will be the options of Private and Normal.
Select Normal.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I have just installed the latest Yahoo Messenger (v.10) on a new Windows 7 (x64) platform, and I can't get my webcam to work. All I get when I try --> Messenger --> My webcam is a black screen. In other words, my webcam does not broadcast. My webcam seems to be correctly connected and installed on my PC with the latest drivers ("The device is working" ). And I can use my webcam with other applications, like Skype, on Windows 7, with no problems. I use a desktop PC with a USB webcam.

By the way, I can see the video image from the webcams of my YM contacts when I am in a video conversation with them. So, no problem the other way.

I have also tried to un-install/re-install both the webcam (Windows 7 re-installs it automatically) and YM. I have also tried the previous versions of YM (v.9 and v.8) I have also gone through all the camera settings in YM. But still no chance.

I have already searched the Net, and I found several other YM users reporting the same problem when they try to use their webcam with YM on Windows 7, but I could not find any solution.

Is there a well known problem related to the use of a webcam with YM on Windows 7 ?

Could someone help me ?

Answer:[Help requested] Webcam not working on Yahoo Messenger with Windows 7

Since it is working in other applications, it can only be the settings or a feature of YM that is not yet working (in win 7 at least). Are you able to try with another webcam?

Hi,
im currently in university accomodation with free broadband internet use, this is good but it is restricted in the fact that not all ports are useable, torrents limewire etc are all blocked which is fine for me.

However i like to use msn and more specifically video chat. This worked fine in the first couple of weeks that i was here, however i tried again more recently and it seems it doesnt work for me. It does for other people in my accomodation block. When i try to enable my webcam it displays the image from it and says connecting, then live messanger just says it cannot connect, try again later.

I have reinstalled live messanger, tried using windows messanger (forgot how awful that was) and i have gone into networking services and enabled UPnP. I have tried with a number of contacts with no avail. I have also tried a new webcam which was no help, both webcams work on the pc, recording videos and taking pictures, but not on msn or live messanger.

Ive tried searchin google to no avail, im using xp so the thread on here about vista doesnt help me.

My copy of xp is fully updated, windows firewall is enabled and im using a NOD32 protection suite with IMON internet monitor included.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give as much detail as possible,
Does anyone have any ideas whats up?

Thanks,
Khris

Hello, I recently upgraded to windows 8 and I have everything working so far except for the webcam. I've installed the drivers so that when I go into device manager under Imaging devices it lists Integrated Camera and Camera Plus and device manager says both of these are updated and working the fine. However, when I use the Camera app which I get to from Windows 8 metro all I see is a cartoon of a camera crossed out. The yellow webcam light does turn on, but it's not working. The same thing happens when I try to do a video recording in Microsoft OneNote 2007, which I used to be able to do.  I've tried to uninstall the webcam drivers and reinstall it, but it still isn't working. I've tried doing hardware scans and update scans in the Lenovo Solutions Center but it says everything is fine. Any suggestions would be really helpful. If I can't get everything to work in Windows 8 I'm switching back to Windows 7, which I made a backup disc of. Thanks,-Noora

Answer:X230 tablet Windows 8 upgrade, webcam not working

I think I finally fixed it actually, sorry about that. I just kept installing drivers from the Lenovo website and it's working now. The camera program that you access through Metro says the camera is only 0.9 pixels though, and I thought the camera was more than that.  Is there a way to tell if I've installed all the necessary drivers? I have done multiple software scans with Lenovo Solution Center but even when the camera wasn't working it said I had no updates, so that's why I kept installing drivers from the website.  Also, does anyone know the driver to make the wacom pen right click button work? I really miss that One thing I think is better with Windows 8 actually is the screen orientation change button. It's way faster than in Windows 7! I also like that it doesn't do it automatically, because I don't always want it automatic.

I upgraded my wife's Laptop to windows 10 from windows 7 last year and it seemed to work fine. She just went out of town and tried to use Skype to video call me but the webcam isn't working. I'm wondering if there is a Microsoft Generic Webcam driver that might work, but this is her work machine so I don't want to remotely install drivers willy nilly. Thanks

Answer:Windows 10 upgrade Thinkpad T410 Webcam Not Working After

HiSo here is how I solved the integrated camera being not recognized/detected by Windows 10.- I went Into Device Manager, uninstalled the unrecognized USB device.- Shut down the laptop. Removed the battery.- Pry out the plastic frame surrounding the screen to uncover the camera.- Remove the two screws retaining the camera and unplug it.- put back the battery and wait for Windows to load and log in as usual.- wait for all drivers and programs to load normally.- plug the camera back in.- you'll normally hear Windows detecting a new device and will automatically install it. Check your device manager for an imaging device. You should see an imaging device in the list.- to test if it's working properly, you can use Skype and see if it detects the camera in the video settings.

I have to admit I never tried the webcam since I got my Yoga which had win 8.1 originally installed on it, but with the update to windows 10, I'm trying more things out. I did install the camera driver from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...  but no luck.I dont even see any kind of camera in device manager. The camera app just says "something is wrong" amd closes. I tried Skype and it also could not detect a working webcam. After installing  windows 10, I did try Cortina and it had me go into microphone setup and it was working. However after subsequent updates, it no longer works. The micropphone levels are ll the way 100%, but when I try to setup the mic, I never see the level meters move when trying the speech test dictation,. Ive installed the Conexant drivers in the the above link, and also uninstalled them and tried to go back to what are the default microsoft drivers, neither seem to wor

Hmmm  seems that the Aspire 5315 is regarded as obsolete?  can't see why, mine is running win 10 except that it wont recognise the webcam!  Can anyone help with that problem please ?

Answer:acer aspire 5315 webcam not working in windows 10

Just thought to add that my 5315 runs Win 10 just fine, except that I can't work out how to get the webcam to work. Win 10 has installed a programme called CAMERA which although it is in the Apps list which come up in All apps, cannot be either started or removed from the list ??????
I tried installing several different webcam drivers for the 5315 but none of them work. I have uninstalled them all now and will do some more research for a solution.

PS.  I WAS ABLE TO GET A BRAND NEW 5315 KEYBOARD (UK version only) via Ebay for AU $15.

MY 5315 NOW LOOKS and runs LIKE NEW.
Only thing is that the @ key is "hidden" where the " key is and @ is found at Shift '  But......I do now have a fully functioning laptop which had been rendered useless when the original US keyboard got damaged and literally fell apart.

The webcam worked perfectly with the installed version of Windows 8 that came with my machine. These problems appeared after installing Windows 8.1. When I start Windows 8.1's Camera app, the LED positioned to the right of the webcam flickers on and off. Sometimes when the LED is on, you can see webcam footage for a brief instant. It's very inconsistent though. I have Linux Mint 16 installed alongside Windows 8.1 as a dual boot option, and strangely enough the webcam also does not work in Linux Mint. Trying other camera apps, such as Google+ Hangouts, does not work. I downgraded to Windows 8, and the camera still does not work - even with Windows 8's version of the camera driver. What should I do?

Answer:Y410p webcam no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade

After a lot of wasted hours, it seems like my webcam does work in Linux Mint on some applications. So the hardware isn't at fault. I'm hesitant to reinstall Windows 8 and all the drivers from Lenovo's website, because I tried it and it didn't work. No amount of driver reinstallation or Windows Updates is doing the trick. Regretfully, I also deleted the recovery partition that came with the laptop. *sigh* Guess there's nothing I can do.

I installed Windows 7 x64 on my Ideapad 700-15ISK, installed all drivers downloaded from the support page but for some reason cannot get wi-fi to work. I see it in device manager (no exclamation marks anywhere), the network interface is not disabled, and yet I cannot search for any wireless networks. I am assuming that the wi-fi interface is actually hard-disabled (via the FN keys; looking at Windows Mobility Center seems to confirm this because it says "wireless off" and the "turn on" button is greyed out and disabled) but I cannot find a way to re-enable it. This article tells you how to re-enable it, but in my case nothing happens when I press FN+F5 (Lenovo utility is of course installed):https://support.lenovo.com/hr/en/documents/ht072689 I'm presuming this is because I don't have Energy Management installed since I cannot find it anywhere (it's not on the support page for the laptop). Can anyone push me in the right direction? Does anyone else have a similar problem? EDIT: the laptop has Intel wi-fi if that matters

Recently purchased a Satellite Pro A300, with built in webcam. However, when i try and use the webcam in Windows live messenger it comes up with the following error messages.

*"We couldn't start your camera device. Please check that your camera is not currently in use by another program, and then try again."*

Also this message..

*"Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x82000009)"*

Now, the camera is not turned on, and Messenger is working normally.

*HELP!!*

Thanks

Folic

Answer:Satellite Pro A300 - Webcam is not working in Windows live messenger

When you get the message if an other program use still the camera.

So try to disable the webcam software and other messenger programs in msconfig.
Then reboot the notebook and if you want to use the webcam software you have to start the webcam software firstly.

After I update windows through windows update the webcam stops working. Also with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB. What I have to do? Thanks.

P.S.
I think is just a software problema and not hardware. The webcam works perfectly until I do the windows updates! "****" Microsoft!

I'm getting frustrated so I've come here to see if anyone knows a way to help resolve this issue.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 which came with Windows Vista 64-bit pre-installed. After about a year or so of having the laptop, I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit. In the process, I believe the driver to my webcam (Chicony usb 2.0 camera) was deleted.

When I go into devices manager in the control panel, the webcam isn't listed; neither is "imaging devices."

I have tried downloading the driver manually, but I keep getting an error message, "Webcam open fail. Restart camera or computer."

My computer has listed my webcam as "unknown device."

If anyone knows how to fix this, please, I beg you, let me know.

Answer:Satellite A300 - Chicony webcam not working after windows 7 upgrade

> My computer has listed my webcam as "unknown device."
> I have tried downloading the driver manually, but I keep getting an error message, "Webcam open fail. Restart camera or computer."

This means that the webcam driver is not installed properly.
Visit the Toshiba European driver page and install the right webcam software/driver for this notebook model.

If the installation fails, restart the notebook and tries again.
This should solve the issue.

Inspiron 1525 Integrated WebCam not working in Windows 7 64-bit.  I have tried reloading drivers and software. Uninstalled and re-installed multiple times. Making sure that WIA is turned on in services. Tried compatibility mode. Downloaded various driver versions from Creative's website and from Dell. Re-installed the A16 bios upgrade (as suggested by Dell). I used msconfig to make sure that no other applications were started or running. Uninstalled Live Messenger. Device Manager recognizes the camera and says that it is working properly. Despite all of that I still get the message "Camera is not available. Please make sure it is not in use by another program" when using the Dell Web Cam application or Live Messenger. When trying to acquire image with ArcSoft or HP Photo suite I get "Camera is unavailable" as well.  Even in Safemode with all drivers disabled I get the same message. I used the camera just before doing the clean install of Windows 7 64-bit so I know that it is not a hardware issue, but it does appear that there is some type of hardware incompatibility issue with "7". Any ideas? Possible OS settings I'm missing?

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E, on which I am running Windows 7. All of a sudden I am getting an error message that one of the USB devices is not recognised and this device appears to be the Sony Visual Communication Camera (Motion Eye) webcam, which has worked before on Windows 7.

It uses the following drivers:
ArcSoftKsUFilter.sys
usbvideo.sys

I would appreciate if someone could help with this issue as Sony are washing their hands off it (my laptop is 2 years old and therefore out of warranty).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Answer:Sony Vaio Motion Eye Webcam no longer working in Windows 7

Hello roddy and welcome to Seven Forums.

Couple of possibilities. You could go to the start menu and type in Device Manager and then click on Device Manager. A dialog box will open. Look for Imaging Devices in the left column and click the little arrow to the left. Then double click on the camera and click the Driver tab. Try updating your driver.

Or you could go to the Sony eSupport website, enter your country and model number, and look for the necessary driver(s).

Sony eSupport - Electronics - Select Your Model

Please post back and let us know if this helps.
