Lenovo Flex 2 15 Internal microphone not working

Question: Lenovo Flex 2 15 Internal microphone not working

So, I've tried EVERYTHING but I can't get it to work.

I have used my internal microphone to Skype call and Teamspeak, but it randomly shuts off. I have done the Microsoft troubleshooter and it actually said that there's no microphone to check on.

Right now I'm still working with Windows 8, because I don't want to change to Windows 10 untill this is fixed. It should work in Windows 8, so changing to Windows 10 shouldn't make a diffrence in the first place.

My microphone has worked, the problem is that it shuts off randomly. I don't know what I can do?

With kind regards,

Anne-Louise

Edit: I remember this happening after setting up speech recognition. I just opened it and my microphone works with speech recognition, but when I want to 'train' my computer to recognize my voice better the microphone stops working.

Could speech recognition close down my internal microphone fully, and how do I change speech recognition so it doesn't work (I never use it, was for funzies).

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo Flex 2 15 Internal microphone not working

I rarely use voice skype, but I needed to set it up for a class (I'm a teacher) and the microphone didn't work. I get the message that there is NO microphone, yet my Flex 2-15D has 2 built-in ones. I have spent a long time looking for drivers or even any information, but there don't seem to be any, or else I'm looking in the wrong place. Also there is no microphone jack so I cannot use my regular headphones with their microphone. Please help.

Hello, I have a Lenovo B40-80.  The internal microphone is not working.  I originally bought the laptop with Windows 7 in 2015.  I upgraded to Windows 10 (probably the Anniversary update??) shortly after purchasing the laptop.  I have never attempted to use the internal microphone or webcam until yesterday.  Neither the webcam or the internal mic was working.  I was successfully able to fix the driver for the webcam and now I can record video and pictures, but it cannot record audio.  I have tried updating the driver for the microphone without success.  Yes, the microphone is set as default and it is enabled.  There is no external mic plugged in.  Please help.

I just tested my camera after my upgrade to Windows 10 and it's not working.  I double checked the settings and it all looks fine. I checked to see if maybe it was just the camera app but, the camera is not working in anything.  All I get is a grey screen with a camera icon with a line through it. I have the newest drivers from the Lenovo support site but, still not working.  Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hello,My internal microphone on my Y70 touch laptop is not working and has never worked since I bought it from amazon 2 weeks ago. the microphone is detected by windows, but the green bars in the sound window do not rise. I have tried reinstalling/updating drivers, changing settings rolling back to windows 8.1 etc, nothing works I believe it may be a software issue, because sometimes after I have fiddled with sound settings on my pc, it starts working for about half a minute and then does not work again.  Thanks

Hi everyone! I have a Lenovo G500s Touch laptop. I upgraded the laptop from Windows 8 to WIndows 10 in mid July. Just a little over 2 weeks ago,  I noticed my internal microphone has stopped working with programs such as Skype and Google Hangouts as well as Audacity, but Cortana is still able to recognize my commands. as is the old Windows speech recognition software. Does anyone have any clue what's going on or how to fix.My laptop's warranty went out in July.  Any help is appreciated. My laptop's internal mic is vital since I work as an interpreter and tutor and often use Skype or other voice services as a tutoring tool.

Hey, I was speaking on Skype yesterday and my internal microphone suddenly stopped working. I've tried to reinstall all the drivers etc but it didn't help. I could blame the hardware, but I've had such issue previously after installing Win 8.1 and I fixed it by reinstalling all the system, which I would prefer not to do again, so do you have any ideas what could cause? Thanks!

Hi All, I just got Lenovo T420 Last week with Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS. Unfortunately internal microphone array does not work. I already tried installing  latest Audio driver for Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD from Lenovo Support Site. Driver  8.32.23.5 . Still no luck. Refereed one of blog article where they mentioned to disable Audio Enhancement, unchecked that and still no luck. Tried with Skype, Google Voice, Cisco WebEx Communicator, IP Communicator and no luck in getting internal Microphone to work. Also tried sound recorder and all recordings are blank. There are lot of users who are facing this problem with Lenovo T420 Win 7 64Bit OS, not many users have time to come forward to discuss the same. Trying an alternative solution like plugging in an external mic or using usb headphones is not an option. Internal speakers work fine. If external mic is plugged in even that works fine. to isolate this issue. I even tried downgrading and upgrading several audio driver releases. also tried clean OS reinstall and tried deploying our Win 7 Lenovo image on this laptop. still no luck. I suspect this could be an hardware problem. Please suggest. Remember: I have already tried settings under Fn+F6 key several times using permutation and combination and spent atleast 8 Hours continuously to find a fix. Any known solution, Hotfixes from Lenovo is highly appreciated.

I tried using the microphone for the first time in a Skype conversation, and the other party told me that all they could hear coming through was static feedback. Currently running Windows 8.. I've gone into the control panel and made sure that the mic isn't muted. Looks like it's using the Realtek audio driver. The Windows hardware troubleshooter wasn't able to find any issues. In the control panel, the sound levels don't go up when I'm speaking. The only sounds that register is if I'm snapping around the mic, or if I'm tapping on the computer. I've tried using Windows Sound Recorder to test the microphone; when I play the recording back, all you hear is a hissing/static noise and a faint clicking in place of my voice. I've disabled and re-enabled the device through device manager, but I still have the same issue. I tried updating the audio driver, but it said the driver was up to date. Then I uninstalled the audio driver and re-installed it using the one from the Lenovo support page. Still having the same issue. Any suggestions?

Answer:Flex 3 14 inch internal microphone doesn't work

Dear Sir  Welcome to Lenovo Community You have to Check with an external mic, if the same issue appears with the external mic so i believe its software issue, but if the external mic working well so in this case you have a hardware issue relate to the mic & you should deliver your device to the nearest service center. Find the phone number of Lenovo call center in your country in the below link :https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/contactus/supportphonelistPlease reply me after the test. Best Of Luck

Hi there, Hhov -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Please try the below steps:

control panel, sound, recording, right click and check 'show disabled devices' then click device and properties and 'enable', apply, ok and exit)

Also,
Check the Mixer/Audio settings whether Mic is turned on.
Depending on the used software it might happen, that it disables the microphone while ending the program (Skype, ICQ etc.)

Update us how it goes.

One time I was recording a video of myself for an interview and the sound of the video was so low when i was listening to it that I barely heard myself even with 100% sound volume. Hi all, I've had this B50 for 6 months now and finally decided to update to Windows 10 (Machine Type Model 80LT). Now that I've updated, everything seems to work great apart from one thing... the Mic in Skype does not seem to work at all. The Mic works 100% fine in voice recorder but in Skpe the most I can get on the Echo test call when I scream at the laptop is a distorted buzz. Otherwise it's pure silence. Steps I've taken:1) Updated Realtek driver to 6.0.1.7553 found on Lenovo Support Site2) Updated driver through Windows3) Played around with every setting for recording devices (disable effects, let programs take exclusive access etc).4) Correct Mic is selected in Skype, tried the few settings possible in there which do nothing for me.5) In the Lenovo Settings App, tried all the settings in there too which don't do anything. When I do start a call on Skype - Lenovo settings highlights the Mic in Orange like it's been activated. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need Skype for work and can't be having to use my phone for Skype calls all the time!

I purchased my Lenovo Ideapad 320-15IAP on 9/14/17 and received in 9/19/17. It runs Windows 10 Home (64-bit). Upon initial boot-up, I was prompted to do all the Windows 10 Updates. Everything worked fine. Yesterday 9/20/17 I called someone on Facebook Messenger and had no issues. Then, today, 9/21/17, I tried to call and suddenly they couldn't hear me. I went through the following troubleshooting steps: 1) Used internal troubleshooter. The worst it could come up with was that I had a "generic" audio driver.2) Opened up sound properties, checked recording devices. Realtek was a) enabled, b) the default, c) not muted.3) Used automatic system and driver update, reboot. (Note it only recommended a BIOS update.)4) Manually uninstalled audio device/driver, reboot, manually reinstall audio device/driver from Lenovo website, reboot.(All the while, confirming multiple times that the microphone was enabled, default, and not muted. Also checking in other programs to see if it would work.) Nothing has worked. I don't know if this is something I can fix at this point, or if there's a hardware failure and I need to return/exchange the laptop. The computer itself insists that everything is working fine, at least in terms of drivers, and it is recognizing the mic. Note I do have sound, just no recording ability with the internal mic. Help?

Hello everyone! Thanks for your attention and reading this thread,Since I made a rescue and recovery from my laptop, after a while I did it, my internal microphone stopped working, and yesterday with Lenovo online support we did everything in hand to try and solve it but apparently the next step is to take it to technical support and frankly that takes a lot of time not to mention the problems I have with them after it such as lots of missing screws in the laptop frame. What we did was to test it, uninstall the Conexant driver, download new one, install, update Windows, nothing fixed it.However, as a suggestion I did another recovery again, but Microphone is still dead. The external microphone works perfectly. And since I've been reading that other people have the same problem, from what I can see it just seems to be a Conexant software problem?I've got Windows 7 Pro, Lenovo T400, High Definition Audio (after I uninstalled Conexant and still no luck with internal microphone of High Audio?) I don't know what other information can be useful to solve this?Is it possible that a Windows setting is interefering?Thank you very much for your response,Sincerely,Eduardo

I have been using my NB 200 to communicate via skype for some time and now the internal microphone has stopped working. I have managed to get it working for a brief period last night but then it stopped again when my system rebooted. It therefore appearst o be a software issue. I have tried installing up to date driver software (Realtech) and system restore but the computer says nothign has changed so it will not restore. Please advise. I am using XP as my oeprating system

Answer:NB 200 internal microphone not working

Hi

Internal microphone is a part of the webcam.

I recommend reinstalling the webcam software too.

Furthermore you have to go to control panel -> sound and audio devices and should check the recording tab.
Be sure that sound card has been chosen and that internal microphone is available.

Furthermore you can find a Realtek HD audio manager in control panel as well. There you should be able to test the mic.

Hello

I recently reinstalled Win 7 on my HP Probook 4530s, and have encountered a few problems since.
The latest is that the internal microphone does not seem to be functioning at all through any programs that would use it (Skype, sound recorder etc).

It does appear in the audio devices control panel but not in device manager (although I don't know that it should?), and it says its working correctly but obviously this is not so!

Additionally, the sound was behaving erratically as well - it often will not work unless I click the test button on the speaker properties page. If I leave the computer for any length of time I have to repeat this.

I have downloaded the only audio driver that is listed here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=5060880&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4058 but this does not seem to have any effect.

Anybody have any ideas?

I just purchased Aspire 5733z, 8 MB Ram, Windows7, 64 Bit Notebook!
I have been setting it up a little each day.
The Built-in MICROPHONE does not work when making phone calls using Yahoo or even magic jack. After the first day of purchase it starting making a high pitch noise and so I turned decip down. I played with it for the next few days and well still no one can hear me on the other end.
Where is the Microphone located and is there something covering it when bought new that I need to remove?
Thanks guys!
P.S. I use a USB hub since I have several items that need to be connected to the PC.

Answer:Microphone Internal Not working!

To check your internal microphone is working use the windows sound recorder..... start, all programs, accessories, entertainment, sound recorder. Make a recording and check it records and plays back. If this works your internal mic is OK and I would start looking at a Yahoo driver or settings problem instead. From memory, the microphone is a small hole on the lid adjacent to the webcam.

After a while i thought of uninstalling the last update i received which is "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3163018)". As soon as i did this and after restarting my laptop the microphone was working perfectly fine. But again after a day the update automatically installed and the internal microphone problem started again. Pleas help me with a permanent solution as i cant keep on uninstalling this particular update time and again. Hi, I've received my Thinkpad X131e last week and it's nice, but the internal microphone underneath the ctrl key is not working. In the sound manager it is described as a socket-microphone, which it isn't. I don't get any sound out of it whatsoever, and configuring it in any possible way found on the web won't help it. I hope I find someone who can help me fix this, because this is quite an annoyance. Greetings

Hey everyone! My laptop is a E430 that I bought in August 2012. Recently, when I plugged in a Samsung headset into my laptop, the external microphone did not work (it had worked regularly in the past months). Then, when I removed the headset and plugged in standard headphones, the internal microphone would no longer work for applications such as Skype (as it has reliably for the last six months).  In my sound settings, the Internal Microphone is replaced by an External Microphone and even with "show disabled devices" selected, I cannot see the option for an Internal Microphone. How can I change my settings so that I can use regular headphones but still use my internal microphone? Thanks!

Ever since my laptop got a motherboard replacement a few weeks ago, the internal microphone has stopped working. I have installed the most recent conexant audio drivers (8.32.23.5), uninstalled and re-installed them, and uninstalled and tried using microsoft audio drivers. None of these strategies have worked. Furthermore, in the control panel -> sound -> recording tab, it shows a "docking microphone (conexant 20672 smartaudio HD)" rather than an "internal microphone". In the properties page, it also lists the "jack information" of this device to be a "LR rear panel 3.5mm jack". I think the "docking mic" device is actually supposed to be the jack for the docking station that goes with the x220 laptop, however I have never plugged the laptop into a docking station before. There is no listing for an "internal microphone" in the recording tab of the sound page. Based on this information, would it be logical to assume there is either some hardware issue with the internal microphone itself, or that the microphone isn't plugged into the motherboard properly? If it's not plugged in correctly, how much would I have to disassemble the laptop in order to plug it back in?

Answer:x220 internal microphone not working

Hey there hitokirix,

That sounds like it could definitely be a hardware issue, since it's not showing in the Sound Menu.

My internal microphone does not seem to be working as nobody can hear me or I cannot record a message. Can anyone help please.

Answer:Solved: Internal microphone does not appear to be working

Control panel>Hardware and sound>Manage audio devices
Or right click the sound icon in the bottom right corner of your taskbar and select recording devices.
Do you see the microphone there? Is it enabled/disabled, or something like that?

The internal microphone on my Elitebook x360 doesn't work, it won't record.  I?ve had it a couple of months but only got the chance to start using it in the last two weeks.  It seems that there have been others with similar issues, so instead of start with the basics, here's what I?ve tried so far. In the 'Sound > Recording' tab (right click speaker in task bar) the internal microphone (Conextant ISST) is enabled and default (always was).  The green bars do not light up if talking into the microphone, but one or two bars will appear when I tap on the display. Internal microphone properties > Levels: microphone array 100%, microphone boost +36dB (max). I have tried other levels also.  The microphone does not mute by itself, as I read that others have experienced. Internal microphone properties > Advanced: have tried using lower default formats, exclusive mode: on and off, signal enhancements: on and off. In device manager, audio inputs and outputs: I have updated and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Internal microphone (Conextant ISST Audio) driver. In device manager, sound, video and game controllers: I have uninstalled, downloaded and installed new drivers for Conextant ISST Audio and Intel(R) Display Audio. The mic mute button on the keyboard (F8) is not on. In command prompt, as administrator, I have killed the svchost task in the name of the computer and then run Malwarebytes - did not fix anyth... Hello First off, I apologize if this isn't considered to be in the correct forum or not. I wasn't too sure, because I'm not exactly sure what the problem is.

My internal microphone currently is not working. I receive sound perfectly fine from everything, but my internal microphone will not record it. I have spoken into it, created loud noises, and have done whatever else I can, and it still does not pick anything up. My settings are enabled, yes. I've been to onto the HP site and have gone through step-by-step instructions over various solutions that could fix this, but none of it seemed to have worked.

I've tried a numerous amount of times to use the sound recorder and play it back, and when I do the sound does not show up.

Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how did they fix it? Or does anyone know maybe what it could be and any other possible solutions available?

Some information that might possibly be able to help (I'm not sure if it will or not, but it can't hurt.):

Hello Dotaquote,

Check both the Speaker volume Microphone settings and the Microphone settings themself as there are a few settings found in each one that affect recording...Have you also contacted Compaq directly about this as they are more equipped to handle support requests for there hardware? They also provide a 24h live chat support service.

I have an old (about 6 yrs) HP pavilion mx70  monitor with an Internal mic that just stopped working one day, the person on the other end can hear static and a bit of voice but no more...any reasons or advice would be appreciated and anything I might be able to do to fix It? I have tried blowing out the mic with compressed air and that did nothing.

Answer:Internal microphone no longer working

Do you have a sound card plugged into your computer?  If so, there should be a port for an external microphone in it.  You can get a cheap microphone or headset and use the sound card instead.

Dear community! I have problems with a L512 (4444) using Windows 7 x64. Since I bought the notebook the internal microphone does not work at all. I have downloaded and installed the latest audio drivers from Lenovo including the audio patch. The microphone is shown in the device manager and also in the control panel audio settings (at least one microphone is shown there - hope its the internal one), but it does not record. I have tried to "set up" the microphone, but I cannot complete the windows dialog, because when I read the sentence written there, I get no reaction from the microphone. I have tried the audio recording tool and Skype. Skype says I should check my microphone. The volume for the microfphone is not zero, I have set it to 80%. The thinkvantage tools do not find any error. Any suggestions? Greetings Marc

Answer:internal microphone not working properly

Try the steps listed in this document from HP. It has the most common solutions and steps to isolate the issue. It is possibly a hardware issue since an external microphone works without any issue, but let me know what happens with each step of the document as that will help determine if it is a hardware issue or not. Also, let me know the results of the steps in the Using Windows Sound Recorder to test the microphone section. If this recorded file also exhibits the same behavior, then it is definitely not any third party software causing the issue.

Hi

I did a fresh XP SP3 install on my NB100. I did not do it from the Toshiba recovery disc as my NB100 would not write that Toshiba disc creator that came with it to my external DVDR/CDR even though it works fine with Veritas.

So I downloaded all the specific drivers and everything else on there is running fine. Except the internal microphone. I can't see anywhere to select it specifically. I can select the Realtek mic source, but I'm guessing that is for the mic input on the front panel. Where does the internal mic reside or where are drivers for it? I've searched this site and Googled all over the place. The mic was working fine before the re-install.

Cheers
Kev

Answer:NB100 internal microphone not working

Hey kev,

For the internal microphone there is no additional driver. It?s a part of the webcam driver that you have to install.

Furthermore in Windows sound settings you can also enable ?Microphone boost? in increase the microphone volume. Open the settings and change to Input Settings. There you can enable this.

Hello there! I have been having issues with my internal microphone where it makes a loud noise on the other side  when I'm talking on skype. It has been like that since I got my computer and I had to buy an external one and then the issue was gone. External ones tend to break over time so I want to get the issue with the internal one fixed. I found an old thread ( http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/internal-microphone-not-working-properly/m-p/2158281#M30... ) In which the user had the same problem and he fixed the issue with the document he was provided with. Trying to open the link inside the thread now does not lead me to a document with steps that explain how to fix it, so i was wondering if anyone here knew where to find the same document or how to fix the issue.

Hi,
My internal mic didnt work, i suspect it not compatible with driver but not sure. Please help.
Did not record sound, doesnt work at all (including with google talk, skype).

Here's are the related info. Do asked for more info if not sufficient.

Answer:Internal microphone failure (not working)

Usually, the Stereo Mix is set as the default recording device. Then any device, mic, or line in, can be used. Also with Stereo Mix set you can record audio from the internet (what you hear on the speakers). Setting to Mic only limits what you can record.

Also, in Microphone properties, do you have the "Levels" set for the mic? If the level is set to zero you would not hear anything.

Hi,

It appears that the internal microphone is not working, despite my various attempts. The laptop is about 2 weeks old running the pre-installed Windows 8 that it ships with by default.

1. I have checked that the Realtek Audio Driver is the current one, i.e. - 6.0.1.6798.
2. I have checked "Realtek HD Audio Manager" and I believe the configuration settings are correct (see image below).
3. "Device Manager" shows no errors and the device "enabled".
4.  I have tried with "factory default" BIOS settings (F2 -> F9 -> F10), but no luck.
5. I have tried "Sound Recorder", but no luck (no activity on soundbar and on playback only get a feedback / continuous hiss).
6. I have tried "Set up microphone", but as above there is no activity on soundbar and when I click "next" it says that the microphone is not connected to the computer).

I am new to Windows 8, so not sure if I am missing anything. Is there anything that I need to check / change? Please help.

Recently received my U400 and the microphone worked great. However, at some point during a Skype call, my partner could not hear me very well and was only able to hear static on my end.

I checked my sound setting and under the "Recording" tab, the Conexant Internal Microphone was very active and "loud" (as if I was constantly talking). I went under properties and checked "Listen to this device" and all I could hear was static. I tried talking but couldn't hear myself. Lowering microphone level didn't seem to change the amount of static I hear from my microphone. I turned off mic boosts and enhancements, but it didn't change static.

Internal microphone is set as default device. Stereo mix is similarly active and loud. Driver version is 8.54.19.0. (up to date). Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Tried uninstalling driver and letting Windows install a new driver, but problem persisted. Pretty much can't use microphone to record, but it shows that it is active and is receiving a lot of sound somehow.

What should I do?

Answer:Lenovo U400 Conexant Internal Microphone Receives Static Input

The first thing to do, since you let Windows install a sound driver, is to reinstall the Lenovo supplied sound driver. Non-Vendor supplied sound drivers usually either do not work or do not work correctly, including the windows installed generic HD audio codec driver.

Hello All, My Internal/External microphone for T420 is not working. I read many threads on the forums and tried everything I could but didnt have any luck. I can not see microphone in BIOS to either enable or disable. I updated the BIOS to the latest versio and nothing changed. Also when I unstalled the conexant driver and let it run with the default windows driver, it started showing microphone in the recording tab of sound settings in the control panel but did not detect any audio in. If I install conexant driver, it simply does not show anything in the recording tab or sound settings and states that "no audio devices are installed". With even external mic is not detected this laptop is giving a real tough time. appreciate any help.

I've had my thinkpad Edge 531 for about five months now, but this problem has always been there. In several applications (skype, youcam, sound recorder) the microphone would spontaneously go from being clear to inaudibly quiet and unclear. I have had this issue calling multiple and in talking to myself in test files. The volume I speak at has no impact on the issue, skype's volume is set to maximum with automatic volume adjustment shut off. Microphone settings within windows sound settings are also set to maximum with the maximum mic boost. None of this seems to help anything. I uninstalled the Lenovo communications utility completely as well. With all that said, I sent my laptop in to get this problem fixed. They replaced the palmrest,  the power input, and some part of the motherboard, according to the sheet. It also was bricked within 12 hours of me getting it back (!!!), and the mic problem was still not fixed. I returned it to them again to be ressurected with a detailed explanation of the problem and the mic isue still hasn't been fixed. Apparently they are convinced it's a software issue since they aren't replacing the mic, so to be sure- am I incompetent, am I missing something? Is anyone else having trouble with the Thinkpad edge mics? I know I could just buy an external mic, but it's the principle of the thing. It's the least they could do after returning the machine to me broken.

I recently upgraded my HP laptop to Windows 10 but discovered the internal microphone no longer worked after trying a video call on Skype. I have researched the problem thoroughly on the web and watched all the help videos I can find, but to no avail. I have tried updating the drivers from Realtek, uninstalling the microphone in devices and restarting my laptop, but nothing has worked. Before I updated Windows, the microphone worked fine. The 'intergrated microphone array' that I've seen discused on forums for this problem does not show up as in option in audio recoring devices. It doesn't seem to be recognised by my laptop at all in audio settings. In 'playback' the only device is Realtek speakers and in 'recording' I have set Realtek microphone as the default device but the internal microphone still does not pick up my voice as it used to. When I have troubleshooted the issue, I am told that my microphone is not plugged in, but this shoudn't be the case as I have never used an external microphone with this laptop. It seems that due to the Windows 10 update, my laptop no longer recognises the internal microphone. Does this mean I will have to buy an external microphone, or is there another way of fixing this problem? Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

I added some pictures to that topic you had linked. Check those out. Let me know if they hellped, I had this same issue, where I was using sound recorder to test my mic after the -in-game-mic wasnt working. I tried using soud recorder but it wouldn't pick up my voice but would actaully pick up me tapping on my keyboard. Then I had my university tech guys help, but they had no idea. I was just fooling around in the sound settings and found that one of the volume mixers had my microphone muted. Shown in the pictures. I enabled that, went back to my sound recorder, and it worked, just needs to tweaking to pick up my voice a little better. Not sure if this will help you.

Hello,

I sometimes make overviews in virtual machines and technology tutorials on my Mac for YouTube and other video sites, I bought a Dell PP28L laptop yesterday with Windows 7.

There is an internal microphone (2 are listed) but neither seem to detect any audio, the volume setting is on 100, and I have tested both of the listed, but neither work.

I want to do a tutorial on installing Movie Maker 6.0 (Vista version) on Windows 7 easily, but can't do it, because I need to use my voice in the video, of course.

Would like some assistance please, thanks ^^

Answer:Dell PP28L | Internal Microphone Not Working

PP28L does not return anything on the Dell support site. Do you have another number for this unit? It must be an old machine?

Also, what is listed in the Device Manager, Sounds section? Post a screenshot.

Hello everyone,

I'm back on this forum because I had another issue... See my first one : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T440p-camera-not-working-windows-8-1/m-p/18...
There was a problem with the cable between the camera/microphone combo card and the daughter card. Now the camera is working properly. A technician replaced the cable.

But I realized that my internal microphone is not working. I don't remember if it worked once...

My microphone is not muted, and I reinstalled the real-teck drivers. When I try to use the "listen" option in the microphone properties, I here a sort of wideband noise (let's call it white noise).

Do you have any suggestions that might help?

Thank you very much

Satellite L555-10M

Hi,

it seems the internal microphone (next to the web camera) is not working, because i can not record anything.
I have tried the windows audiorecorder application and skype application and any of them can record my voice.

The external microphone works very well, so i think the software configuration using windows and the realtek HD definition audiomanager are OK.

How can i check if it is really a hardware problem?

Coul you please help me?
Thank you!

Answer:Satellite L555-10M - Is internal microphone not working?

>I have tried the windows audiorecorder application and skype application and any of them can record my voice.

Did you test the internal microphone in connection with the installed webcam software?
Pleas do that because the internal microphone belongs to the internal webcam.
Furthermore you should check the settings in control panel -> sound -> recording tab
The internal mic should be chosen as default device.
If the internal mic is not listed there click right and check the options: show hidden and disabled devices.

Hi, r2504

The microphone may need to be reconfigured. This can be done by right-clicking the Volume icon on the Taskbar and selecting Recording Devices. There should be a button to the bottom left marked Configure. Select this and walk through the prompts and see if it helps.
Let me know how it goes,Adam

Hello all, I seem to be having a problem with the built in microphone (dual array on the LCD bezel). It does not seem to work at the moment. I know it worked fine at one point in the past, but I may have been having issues for a long time (I rarely use the mic or webcam). The microphone is properly installed in device manager and shows up in the sound panel as a recording device. It is not muted (current setting is volume at 14, mic boost at +36dB). However, no matter how hard I try I can NOT get the internal microphone to register any input at all. This includes microphone setup in Windows Speech Recognition, Skype, OneNote, etc.. If I plug an external microphone (e.g. a free Logitech headset) into the 1/8" jack on the right side it works just fine. Therefore, I don't believe the Conexant soundcard is broken. Is there any chance this is a software/driver problem, or is this definitely hardware related. If it is hardware, are there any suggestions for how I might go about fixing it (a point to the proper page of the HMM would be nice). Although I rarely use the microphone, it's still something I would like to have operational. However, I'd really rather not send my tablet into Lenovo for warranty service for such a small issue. Any help would be much appreciated. It's my X200s with "Conexant 20561 SmartAudio HD" mic. OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Latest driver(from Lenovo) is installed. The internal mic just stops working all of a sudden, most likely in the middle of some Skype sessions. That is very annoying. Sometimes it stop working seconds after I start talking with someone on Skype, sometimes it works perfectly for hours. I did some research and found out that the mic does not stop working completely but just becomes extremely deaf (insensitive). It does record some sound if I hit the mic panel hardly using my fingers, but it cannot record any speak voice. So far I found 2 ways to bring it back: reboot the computer or sleep/wake it. Again, sometimes it starts working right after rebooting/waking, sometimes it doesn't. I have to reboot/wake it several times if I am in really bad luck. I don't think it is a hardware malfunction. Maybe a driver issue? Anyone have any idea? Jeremy

Answer:Internal Microphone stops working randomly.

Did you ever figure it out?  Same problem here.  I also notice it when using Skype, so could be a Skype related issue.  Of course I only use my microphone with Skype so might not be related...  In any case, as you say, rebooting will bring it back, but that's not really a solution of course...

Hi all,I have a problem with the internal microphone of my X201, in that: at the beginning the mic was recognized but could not record any sound; then, after reenabling it from the BIOS settings, it just disappeared from the Recording Devices in the Sound Options (it is not even among the disabled or disconnected devices). Is that a software or an hardware problem? Could you please advise me on that? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Professional.Thank you in advance!

Answer:Internal microphone not working and then disappearing on X201

I'd guess that if it dispaeared after a BIOS change it is a software issue. If you see the mic driver anywhere, try and delete it and le Windows re-install it. Have you tried to have Windows "look for new devices"?

Hello,

I own a laptop (Presario CQ56) and have been using Skype constantly for about a year with its internal microphone without an issue. After obtaining an automatic Windows 7 update a couple of days ago, my internal microphone stopped working. The microphone is still detected, enabled, but isn't picking up any input whatsoever. However, there is low static, but it's very constant, and isn't changed by input whatsoever. Here are the things I've tried:

-Restarting
-System Restore to before the update, then disabling automatic updates so I no longer have it
-Running the computer's find and fix audio recording software which claimed that there was no issue
-Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers without restart (with driver updates automatically through the computer's find and fix audio recording problems)
-Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers with restart (with driver updates automatically through the computer's find and fix audio recording problems)
-Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers with restart (through the official site's driver updates)

I do not own an external microphone, and I am hoping that I don't have to get one. That being said, that also means that I can't be entirely sure whether it's software or hardware based.

I hope that one of you can help me. I've done a lot of internet scouring and Google-ing and have run out of things to try; I've been at it for about 5 hours so far.

Thank you in advance.

Answer:Internal Microphone Suddenly Not Working After Windows Update

I would do a system restore to before it did the updates and see if it resolves the issue. Click start, programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore. Choose the date before the problem started happening and let it restore. See if the mic works after that. If it asks to do updates again and by chance you know what one caused the problem; then just dont download it. And to solve that from happening i would change the windows update settings to only download but let me choose when to install. EDIT: nevermind the system restore I just saw you already did that. In the end though i would just completely uninstall the device itself; remove it from device manager completely; and let windows hopefully re-detect it correctly.

Can someone please help! I'm not that technical but have an A210 and according to the user's manual there is a built in microphone but I can't get Skype to work. Ive gone through every available option I think.

Firstly - Is there a microphone in this thing?
I can't find any spec sheet saying a definitive yes.

The Control Panel - sound-recroding options shows a microphone and that Realtek High Definition Audio is not plugged in.
Does that mean and external mic or...?

Any help appreciated

Hi hope someone can help. New L460 (20FV) all working well, all updates done via Lenovo and I went this morning to use the webcam and mic for the first time. The mic is not picking up sound, suffice to say I have tried every fix possible via Lenovo or MS forums to no avail over the last 5 hours. Too many to list so could you guys please throw every fix you know at me in the hope that I have not tried one. I have tried diagnostics also via Lenovo and nothing is showing as wrong. As I said all updates, drivers etc installed correctly via Lenovo and the system is running Win10. I also tried reinstalling the system to no avail. Fingers crossed. scotty66

Answer:internal microphone on HP 2000 notebook laptop not working

Hello maggie75. I understand that you're having some problems with your microphone. You should try recording audio in another application so that you can determine whether this is an issue with the application or the microphone. Try the following.Click Start, type "sound recorder," and press Enter. This opens the Sound Recorder application.Attempt to record sound.Verify whether or not you hear sound.Post the result.Also. you may need to update some software. If this is the case it will be helpful to have your product number. This document can show you where it is located for me.I will await the result of this. I hope you have a great day!

The microphone won't work (Or at least it's extremely unresponsive that if you scream into the mic port it might flicker.) I've read other forums and lots of people are having this problem but none of the solutions given are yet to work. I've tried them all. People seem to think it's a problem with the Bang & Olufsen driver. Any help welcome!

Helllo Forum,
The problem sounds simple but its tricky. The internal microfone is not working.
I cannot find any related entry in the deivce manager.

Is there a maybe simple way to activate the Mikro like FN+X?
I already tried the standards such as "Start+"Mikro", rightclick on the speaker symbol...

Is there somebody who had and solved the same problem?

Iam running low on ideas...

Answer:Satellite Pro P300 PSPCDE - internal microphone is not working

How did you test the internal microphone?

Usually the internal mic belongs to the internal webcam. So did you test this in connection with the internal webcam?
The preinstalled webcam software allows you to create movies and pictures. The movie can be recorded with the sound and the internal mic is used for that?

Furthermore the internal mic should be listed in control panel -> sound -> recording tab
If it?s not visible there, then you should click right and should check the options; show hidden device, show disabled devices. Then you could enable the internal mic and could make this as default device.

Can anyone (1) confirm that this model of laptop has an internal microphone and (2) tell me how to get it working? Narrative: I have had this laptop for several years with Win 7 64-bit, recently upgraded it to Win 10 Home 64-bit.  When running Win 7, I definitely used an external microphone with the input jack, but I'm not sure I ever used the internal microphone.  Yesterday I tried to use Skype and couldn't get the microphone to work (I don't have an external mike where I am now).  Started trying to analyze and the only  Recording device listed in the Recording tab of the Sound control panel is "Stereo Mix, IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" - not sure if this applies to the internal mike.  Neither speaking to nor tapping on the microphone hole above the screen caused any response at all in the level bars at the right of the window. Started to doubt that I have an internal mike, so looked for specs.  On http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02910495, I found "Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone (VGA)", which led me to check out the integrated webcam under Imaging Devices.  Still no definite confirmation that I have an internal mike, but I found an image of the laptop with mike identified next to the webcam, that corresponds to my laptop, so I really think the hardware is there. I used Device Manager to check for updates for the webcam device (HP Webcam-101), and it said the drivers are up to date.  I d... I've had this Toshiba Satellite L500 for over a year and the internal mic has always worked great. I often use Skype on this machine and the mic always works fine. The other day my friend added Skype to his iPhone and we wanted to see if it worked, but because we were in the same room, there was some feedback (not much, but a little), so we hung up. Half an hour later, I tried to use Skype to call a friend back home, and the mic wasn't working. It hasn't worked since.

I uninstalled Skype and re-installed all of the audio drivers. I have also tried adjusting all of the Sound settings in Control Panel (mic volume, boost, default device, etc.). I also tried using an external mic, which worked fine, and I was able to switch back and forth between the external and the internal, but only the external picked anything up. When I use Sound Recorder with the internal mic, all that's recorded is a quiet, garbled, electronic noise which fades to silence within a few seconds (see .rar attachment). EDIT: I found that this noise was due to using Microphone Boost. If I turn the boost off, nothing at all is recorded.

Device Manager says the internal mic is working fine. Is there anything else I can do? Is there some kind of software that I can run to test if the microphone is working properly or is broken? I am running Windows Vista 64-bit.

Answer:Solved: Toshiba internal microphone suddenly not working

So under "Playback Devices" I turned the microphone playback volume up so I could hear through the speakers if anything was being picked up. At one point I close the lid of my laptop and heard some crackling. Turns out if I move the lid up and down, the microphone crackles, so I'm guessing there's a loose connection in there somewhere. It's too bad because it's not an old machine, and I still have no idea why it stopped working so suddenly.

Just thought I would update you all and suggest a possible troubleshooting method for those of you in the same situation. Of course, be careful of using microphone playback without headphones, since it can lead to feedback which can damage your audio components.

The internal microphone on my W510, 4318CTO thinkpad has stopped working. The combo jack is working fine and does not have any issues but the internal microphone has become an issue. Webcam is working fine. Even if I tap around the microphone area the sound bar goes up (under recording tab). I have tried all the configuration settings for Conexant but none was useful. Even the drivers are updated ones. The windows sound recorder does not show any waveform when I try to record something. Kindly help in resolving the issue. Thanks in advance for the kind help.RegardsNakul

Answer:Thinkpad W510 internal microphone not working - windows 7

Hi Nakul,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that internal microphone in your Lenovo ThinkPad W510 is not working properly.

Check if microphone is enabled in the Bios, under security, IO port access or in windows through control panel, sound, recording, select microphone. If you right-click on the microphone, you can select Properties and you'll be able to adjust all the settings for it. Make sure that the volume is at a decent level. In the advanced tab, try changing the default format and check.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hi,

I have had a Portege R830 for 1 month. Using Windows 7 64bit. Have set up Skype and all was working 2 weeks ago, now only the video works. The microphone stopped working.

I installed the latest Realtek HD Ausio Driver and Webcam driver. The microphone setting is not muted and leave and boost is on max. It is the default recording device. The only thing changed is I tried the external speakers and also started using a docking station.

This is driving me crazy. Any ideas? I wonder if it is a hardware problem?

Answer:Portege R830 - Internal Microphone stopped working

Hey,

Do you use the preinstalled Windows 7 version from Toshiba or is this your own installation?

The microphone is a part of webcam and therefore you have to install the webcam driver. You wrote that you have reinstalled the webcam driver but have you removed the old version first? You should remove the old version first and then restart your notebook. Furthermore use CCleaner (freeware tool) to clean the registry and restart again. Then your computer is ?ready? for a new driver.
