Preferred Solution: Lenovo ideapad 100-15iby USB 2.0 controller disabled

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I knew that this laptop had one tiny speaker but I didn't really mind because I use extra speakers. To my surprise, even if you connect a stereo pair of speakers the sound that you get is mono. I tried different kinds, of jacks, headphones and what so, but no stereo sound. It seems that the combo jack provides mono sound. The sound card is a realteck HD audio ALC233. Have all updates and laptop had windows 10 Home preinstalled You can check for your self doing the "left an right test" through control panel.  I also went back to the store and checked for my self on other demo laptops. Same issues there too. Went to other stores  same issues on all ideapads 100 seiries.I contacted Lenovo in Greece. They advised that the sound out the combo jack must be stereo in all occasions  and to send them the laptop to check it.But what are they going to check? All ideapads 100 series laptops in the market, at least the ones I tested provide mono sound out of the combo jack.Laptop specifications mention availability of a mono speaker and nothing about the combo jack. i will apreciate an official answer on this matter which will be beneficial to lenovo customers.

My keyboard and trackpad don't work for some reason. I read on the internet that I have to do a hard reset (taking out the battery and disconnecting the AC cable, than holding the power button for 30 seconds) to make it work again. So my question is how to perform a hard reset if the battery is INBUILT. I looked into the user manual of the laptop but I couldn't find anything. My laptop works with a USB mouse and keyboard, and the laptop keyboard works in BIOS. I also tried to find an option to disable the battery in BIOS but couldn't find anything. Thanks for your help!

Hello guys. So I wanted to burn some files on a disc but i encountered an error about the disc. so i tried another disc but then i realised the disc driver is missing from "this PC". i went to the device manager and found it while it was Hidden. in the device status box it stated :"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."so i asked some friends and searched through net and some local websites. and then i thought maybe it is a good idea to uninstall the driver so that it it will be reinstalled automatically and the problem will be solved.(Read that solution from the net) so i did it but it is not back.now i really need your help to fix this problem.thank you

Hi, i bought a new LG 21:9 monitor and the max resolution i can get out of it is 1920x1080. i am running windows 10 with the latest (as far as i can tell) intel hd graphics driver version 10.18.10.4276. Some of the forums cite using a custom resolution to manually set 2560x1440 but the lenovo driver doesnt allow custom resolutions. Is there a way to enable custom resolutions or some other way to allow me to use a 2560x1440 external monitor? thanks! sim

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 100-15IBY unable to get 2560x1440 resolution for external monitor

Are you using the default windows app to set resotution, or the Intel HD Graphics control panel app from within the Windows Control Panel?.   From within Display section in the Intel HD Graphics  control panel, you should see an option for Custom Resolutions. Good Luck

The FN-Delete key is supposed to activate the number lock on the 10 key keypad, but the numberlock will not engage. Additionally it doesn't seem to activate any of the other F# functions either. I updated to the most current BIOS and downloaded and installed a driver for hotkeys but still no go.  I really would like to be able to use the 10 key pad for numberical entry.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My lappy was fine for the first 3 months then I started getting thin muli-coloured lines accross the screen, a bit like Interference. This developed over the last month and when the screen started flickering and the backlight was go-ing on and off, I dicided to seek help from the online support team. I might as well have asked my next door neighbours Parrot. Because this fault started when the machine was 3 months old and was steadily getting worse. There is no way that I was believing that this was software related. Even when I told the Lenovo clown that it also went off when I tapped the left hand side of the case he still wanted to try and diagnose it remotely for OS / Driver issues. Anyway, I am posting here to help anyone else out with the same problem. I fixed it by: Removing the 3 screws on the centre of the base (they have a small keyboard image next to them).Using a very thin bladed knife, lift the top of the keyboard away from the case. After lifting a little with the knife you can get your fingers under it. (It makes a horrible cracking noise as you seperate it. But don't worry, be brave. As long as you have removed those 3 screws, it will come away). Carefully lift the keyboard up and you will see the ribbon cable conector. It has a hinged flap that holds the cable in place. Lift this up and remove the cable and keyboard. Just above the keyboard cable connector is a small rectangled hole. If you look in there you will see another plug. It conne... Read more

Recently bought Ideapad 100-15IBY (Quadcore 1.7GHz, 4GB RAM). The seller installed Windows7 (64 bit) with drivers. However with 64bit OS the system operation is slow, instable and out of sync. I tried Windows 7 (32 bit) and found the operation to be smooth. But drivers for Win7 32 bit is not available in Lenovo website. How to get the drivers I need? I don't think 64 bit drivers would install on 32 bit OS. And I can't tolerate the performance with 64 bit OS. Only option is use of 32 bit Windows 7. Now, how do I get drivers? Why Lenevo does not give a drivers CD with the product?

Dear dcp248,

Since lenovo does not have the 32Bit drivers on the website, you can right click the unidentified drivers from the Device Manager and choose Update Driver Software.

Hello. I am trying to install a copy of Windows XP onto my computer. During this process a BSOD 0x7E is encountered and acpi.sys is mentioned. The original operating system was Windows 8. The hard disk is not original, a new one have been bought. I have disabled UEFI boot anywhere I could and was able to install Windows 7, but not XP. I could not try setting SATA Controller mode to the Compatibility in BIOS settings because the computer stops at the "LENOVO" black screen and goes no further. Thanks for your attention. Excuse me if there are any mistakes in my posts.

After installing Ubuntu on my ideapad 100-15IBY type 80MJ, my BIOS appears to be broken. I was not happy with the Ubuntu distro and I wanted to install something else, but I was not able to boot from either USB or CD-ROM after this install. In fact, any changes made in the BIOS is not saved (I tried resetting virtually everything). At first I thought this must be due to a problem with the EFI partition or bootloader, so I disconnected the SSD drive but then BIOS could not find any bootable media. I also tried replacing the CMOS battery (atleast I assume this is the CMOS battery, a CS2032 battery on the motherboard), still no improvement.  What can I do to reclaim my computer? Would it be possible to remove the harddrive, put it in another computer and install windows and so update the bios from lenovos winflash bios updater? Or is there an easier option? I suppose lenovos winflash thing will not be working under WINE? Not being able to boot from USB is really a big issue for me...

Hi there, I envounter some problem on my lenovo thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD-A00TME), not sure when the laptop started having this issue but it must been recent as I have done some updates on some device drivers and even the BIOS was updated. After the routing checkup from Lenovo Solution Center, it was found that there are some system devices which are disabled. Here are all the few system devices which are disabled and cannot be enabled: 1) DDP UMDF Driver2) Lenovo Primary iM Controller3) Lenovo Settings4) Lenovo Settings Camera Audio5) Lenovo Settings Power Current my laptop has Lenovo Dependency Package version 1.6.25.00. Initially, I thought these system devices were affected by the recent software update which were done in the past week but I have completely reverted the updates by performing a system restore. Just for references, here are the software updates which were installed & uninstalled: - Lenovo Peer Connect SDK (Version 1.0.0.7)- Intel PROSet/Wireless Software- Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology- Lenovo Quick Control- On Screen Display Even after performing the system restore, the 5 system devices are still in disabled state. What can be done to fix this issue? Is it related with the recent BIOS update? Is there anyway to get newer drivers for these 5 system devices? Thank you for your help & support. Kind regards,Poon

Answer:Primary iM Controller, Lenovo Setting, Lenovo Setting Camera Audio, Lenovo Setting Power disabled

Hi again, Found from the device status of these 5 system devices are having the same properties. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) How to fix the incomplete or damaged configuration info in registry? Thank you.

I recently purchased a lenovo IdeaPad G780, and thus far the only problem I'm having with it is that whenever I turn on my laptop after having shut it down or put it to sleep, the WiFi is disabled, despite the fact that Windows shows that it is connected.  The only way I've found to fix this is to just Restart the laptop. So in short, I have to turn my computer on twice every time I use it in order to get on the internet.  Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? (I've already installed the newest wireless drivers)

Answer:WiFi keeps getting disabled on lenovo IdeaPad G780

hi ajburr,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Your problem might be similar to this article.

Can you try to:
1. Set PCI Express Link State Power Management to OFF

2. Disable "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" under the Wireless Card properites in the Device Manager.

If the problem reoccurs, try to uninstall Lenovo Energy Managemenr under the Control Panel and observe the PC. If everything works ok, reinstall the latest version below:

Lenovo Energy Management       Lenovo Energy Management
Windows 7 32bit / 64bit              Windows 8 32bit / 64bit
cagt26ww.exe                            em8.0.2.5.exe21.2MB                                     45.4MB

Let me know your findings.

Hi folks. My friend gave me his ideapad 100 which has Linux Ubunut OS on it and he asked me to install Win 7. I have tried to install the OS, but after booting and loading system data, Windows's Blue Screen of Death appears with a message "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant.". So, after 4 hours of trying what i have found on internet, nothing's been successfull. I have tried to update BIOS, and I found the last BIOS for ideapad 100 (http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/100-SERIES/100-15IBY/downloads/DS102...), but it comes in .exe file which I cant run in Linux.I tried to run it even with Wine but it was unsuccessful. Then, I tried to search for BIOS update in .iso file to make it bootable with usb, but I didn't find it. Please, help me with this, I dont know what to do anymore.

Hello, firstly I want to thank you for reading my post and apologize for the poor formating.  Secondly, I would like to share my issue with my lenovo laptop (bought late 2016): I think someone might have sent me a virus through a game. What makes me think that? After someone messaged me in-game telling me they were making me disconnect from the game, which was ineed happening for a few days. So I used the novo button to get back to reinstall the system? from the recovery partition but I am still worried that someone could be spying on me. Then I tried to install windows 7 professional 64bit (the laptop was provided with windows 10) from an official DVD I bought a few years ago but it did not work, I changed some settings in the BIOS about UEFI, legacy, I read that on this forum in other posts. I tried to boot from the DVD, and eventually it gives a blue screen telling me that my BIOS is not ACPI compliant.  I updated the BIOS but it didn't solve the issue.   Finally i would like to ask a few questions: 1) Could my recovery partition be infected?2) Is there any way to download and install a fresh version of windows 10, I tried from the microsoft website but apparently my windows doesn't work.  Thank you for reading and have a nice day.

Hi! When I connect FULL HD digital TV (or projector) via HDMI, the image on the TV does not fill the entire screen. This happens when I use the mode "duplicate screen". If I connect only the digital TV, all OK, the image on the full screen.I have tried in the Intel HD Graphics driver settings to change the position of "scaling". But I saw only one option out there - "in the middle". There are no other options. We tried windows 7 and 10, as well as various drivers (Lenovo and Intel) - there is a problem. Our company has several laptops of different companies, multiple projectors and televisions. Nowhere is this problem we do not observe.By the way - if I do this:- Change the screen resolution to a smaller- I go to settings and changing the built-in monitor and scaling to "stretch to full screen"- Then again returns the standard resolutionSo in this case, the image on the digital TV right - the whole screen. But as soon as I turned off and then turn on the TV or laptop, then I again see the problem.Those. problem in the driver. Please help, because we can not use a laptop for presentation. But that is why we bought him. Thank you,Egor

I bought an ideapad 100-15IBY Windows 8.1 (32 bit) about 15 months ago, so its out of warranaty for about 3 months, and yesterday I was playing songs on an external speaker, and as soon as i plugged the AUX cord out of the laptop this loud white noise started and wouldnt stop for another 5 minutes or something. It stops for a while then as soon as I open any audio it starts again even when muted. So I thought I should leave it for an hour or two then try switching the laptop on and check again, once i pressed on the power button to switch it on the white noise started again (in the starting up loading screen). Somebody told me it might be the fan, but I thought why would the fan noise stop and only comeback when I play an audio. This is the white noise if you don't know it:https://soundcloud.com/vojta_test/white-noise-01

Hi,  I?ve had my laptop for about 2 nearly 3 years now. About two days ago it stopped working for some reason. When I looked into it the WiFi adaptor (Intel Core i3) was for some reason disabled and despite having admin access, it would not  enable it successfully, even when I tried it just remained disabled and trouble shooter just states there is an issue with the WiFi adaptor and it cannot solve it.i have so far tried the network connections, troubleshooter and the device manager but both are not working. Is there a relatively simple solution that I?ve overlooked? I can remember it doing this before but I can?t remember how to turn it back on.

I bought a Lenovo Ideapad 100-15 IBY and can I ask if upgrading my RAM affect my warranty? I want to boost it up to 8GB. And can I also change the Graphics Card?

Answer:Ideapad 100-15IBY - Will adding more memory void my warranty?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

According to your model's User Guide the only items which can be serviced by the owner is the removal of the keyboard and the optical drive.  The removal of the back cover to access the memory is not a consumer replaceable item and accessing that area of your laptop may void the warranty.  Some Lenovo service centers understand that computer owners like to do upgrades. They tend to over look the fact the laptop has been opened for such upgrades as long as there is no damage during the upgrade process.  I would suggest you contact Lenovo Support in your country and see what their opinion is as they will have the final say as to whether the warranty will be voided with the memory upgrade.

As for the graphics card upgrade, I'm not an owner of your model, but I suspect the graphics chip is incorporated into the motherboard and is not upgradable.  In viewing the documentation for your model I see no separate parts listing for a graphics card.

Hi, I have an IdeaPad 100 15iby Laptop bought a few months back. O/S is Windows 10 Only recently the HDMI port connectivity to my SONY BRAVIA stopped working all of a sudden(It worked previously). The Output from the laptop does not get transferred/Recognized by the TV. I tried Duplicate and Second Display Only Modes. There is no pickup on the screen in the TV. When i use the Second Display only prjection mode - I got a message Dsiplay not in optimal resolution - It should be 2048 X 1360. But the max recomm resolution is just 1366 x 768.This i did not see it before when it worked fine. I have determined that it is not the fault of the TV/HDMI cable as i checked with my other DELL Laptop and it works. I have tried all these:1) Ensured all drivers/SW is updated2) tweaked the power on /off combinations for both the TV and Laptop with HDMI cable on.3) Ran diagonostics and Hardware troubleshooting - but it says all tests passed Can anyone help on this? Have you seen this before and is there a resolution.

I was using my headphones when I was at Starbucks. Then I came home and the headphone jack wouldn't work. The speakers work. My headphones work on other devices. I've uninstalled/reinstalled RealTek Audio driver. Still doesn't work. Rebooted countless times. Done all sorts of Internet research. Running Windows 10. In Control Panel, Sound, Manage Audio Devices, Sound - Speakers icon appears but no headphones. I'm running out of ideas. Anyone experience this ever? Please HELP!

Hi All, I am writing from National Instruments Technical Support with an issue that one of our customer's is having. The customer uses Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 (model name: 20009) and was trying to use MXI-4 remote controller of PXI chassis. It is basically a PCI extension with CompactPCI form factor. Unfortunatelly the extension of PCI bus did not work, any device installed in the PXI chassis received code 12 (unable to allocate resources) in Device Manager. We know about this issue on some laptops, they just simply don't allow hooking up PCI bus on ExpressCard (correct me if I'm wrong) - see our knowledgebase. We provide a potential solution, which is MXI-Express Compatibility Software. This solution can fix some BIOS limitations, but not all of them. Unfortunatelly in case of the customer it did not help. The customer purchased IBM Leonovo Y530 just for the purpose of using it with MXI-Express Controller. National Instruments cannot resolve this issue. Is there any BIOS version or extension that could allow Windows to allocate devices on the extended PCI bus?

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Hi, I'm pretty useless when it comes to figuring things out with computer software, ect. But over the past 2 days, my touchpad has suddenly stopped working properly. The issue is that when I hold any key on the keyboard, I cannot move my mouse, nor can i use 2 fingers to move the mouse, or have any more than 1 finger on the touchpad, it just locks the cursor into place and i cannot move it. I have tried a few suggestions, such as turning off palm-tracking, and going into Regedit and setting the values of "disable when typing" to 0, and after restarting, the issue is still the same, I can't move my mouse whilst using the keyboard, or having more than 1 finger on the touchpad. I went back into regedit, the values were still at 0, I went into the mouse settings, and palmtracking was still turned off. I even tried installing a different driver, but once I installed it and restarted, the computer said there was an error and had to restart - this wasn't fixed until I reset my entire computer, which took hours.Though I am not sure if I went about installing the driver correctly, as I did not uninstall any previous driver. I just don't know what to do now to fix this, I've tried everything! And this is especially infuriating for me as I'm a gamer, and because of this I am unable to properly play any games!

Answer:IdeaPad 110 Touchpad still disabled when typing/palm tracking still on when disabled

Have tried several times to resolve this
OS Win 98 SE
Chipset Intel 440BX
I have used Everest to check system
It states AGP Controller Disabled.
I have started in SAFE mode with the AGP video card but the card is not recognised
I have the correct drivers.
But it seems that the AGP slot is just not enabled
I have set the BIOS to AGP
I have checke dthe motherboard for any jumpers
I have checked the device manager which shows the Chipset to AGP as being installed.
I have also installed the latest .inf files from Intel.
But still the AGP Controller is shown as disabled in Everest.

thanks

Answer:VGA Display Controller Disabled

Hi and welcome,
Boot into safe mode (press F8 repeatedly on boot up until you get a screen with options) choose safemode without networking. From there do a system restore to a time before you began working with your video drivers. We can then go from there.

Hi.
Daughters Dell Dimension 4100 computer came with hard drive on primary controller. Had DVD and zip drive on secondary controller. Both set to Cable Select. She purchased a Philips 800 series CD-RW and wanted me to install . Because of cable lenght issue, I put Hard Drive and Zip on Primary, and DVD and CD-RW on secondary. Bios setup shows all drives correct, but in Windows Explorer, DVD and CD-RW are not shown. In Device Manager, Secondary IDE controller has the yellow circle with the exclamation. Under Properties it says: "This device is either not present, not working properly, or does
not have all the drivers installed."

The drivers are installed so that is not the problem.

Also in Device Manager, next to the Samsung DVD icon (that had been
installed and working prior) there is the red X in the icon. Checking
Properties it says: "This device is not working properly because a device it
depends on, the Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo) has been dynamically
disabled."

What's up with that? How can I get this fixed. I'm betting you guys can
help. Dell Tech won't because third party hardware etc. Thanx in advance.
Barry

P.S. The new CD-RW is not shown in Device Manager, but the DVD, which came with the machine is, but red Xed as stated above.

I am using a very old Dell D333 running Win98SE. New HD installed about 15 months ago - case hasn't been opened or moved since. Just discovered that neither of my CD drives - the original that came with the machine or the Imation CD/RW that was installed several years ago - are showing up in My Computer. Device Manager shows the original NEC with red X through it. Says the device is not working properly because "a device it depends on, Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo) has been dynamically disabled." Checking the controller, it says "This device is either not present, not working properly or does not have all the drivers installed (code 10)." The Imation drive doesn't show up at all.

I have been Googling all afternoon looking for an answer and finally found you guys. This seems to have happened around the same time I updated to the most recent version of free ZoneAlarm, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

What to do? I am somewhat experienced with computers, but need this explained simply.

Thanks.

In Device Manager I have 3 references to the High Definition Controller one of these controllers is disabled(black down arrow). I can enable the device and it shows the device working properly and I can check for drivers(it's up to date according to Windows), but when I shut off the
system the device is disabled again.

ImageShack? - Online Photo and Video Hosting

Shouldn't I only have 2 High Definition Audio Controllers showing up in the Device Manager? I have the Realtek on-board and the HD 6670Video Card. Just found out the HDMI on the Motherboard is not working.
I have also uninstalled the device and and rebooted(getting the installing device driver message with everything good), which fixed the problem until I restarted again.

I have checked all of the drivers I can think of, AMD,MSI,Realtek (I haven't downloaded the drivers for RAID from MSI). The PC is stable I have sound as well(have to check sound with HDMI cable attached still). In MSINFO32.EXE under problem devices the High Definition Audio Controller comes up as well.

Have tried several times to resolve this
OS Win 98 SE
Chipset Intel 440BX
I have used Everest to check system
It states AGP Controller Disabled.
I have checked the device manager which shows the Chipeset to AGP as being installed.
I have also installed the latest .inf files from Intel.
But still the AGP Controller is shown as disabled.

Have you gone into the BIOS to see if the AGP controller is enabled, instead of the pci?

Saturday life was good, Sunday it was not. I turned on my computer and noticed that neither my CD nor my CD burner were being recognized as drives in the "My computer" section. Then, I could not get my printer, scanner or anything else that is peripheral to be recognized or work. I could not even save files to my Archos player as a backup, the computer said it could not write to this drive, but I was able to save either thing to my D: drive (an old 4 G second hard drive that acts as a storage folder)

I checked system information at the only error I saw was:

"Secondary Ultra ATA Controller

Does anyone know what happened? Did I get attacked by a virus? I have Kazaa - did it finally get me in the end. And more importantly how do I fix this?

I have done a format c: before, reformatted my hard drive and reloaded windows, but with my CD player not working or being recognized I don't know how I can do this.

I have two hard drives C: and D: (the second hard drive acts more like a large storage folder)

Thank you in advance

Answer:secondary ultra ATA controller has been disabled coe=29(0x1D) how do I fix this?

Try removing the device with the error from Device Manager and reboot.

We really can't tell you if you have a virus. Do you have any antivirus software installed? You can do a free scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

In Safe Mode, lots of stuff doesn't work, like CD-ROM's and USB.

You can also download the latest Intel Chipset INF and Intel Application Accelerator - these are drivers for the motherboard chipset and IDE chipset.

Select Chipset Software and select those two downloads. Install the INF first, accelerator second.

Hi Everyone-
I'm new here and know nothing about computers. I got an old toshiba portege 660cdt at a garage sale for $3 and it worked ok. It was running windows 98. I wanted to put a cd in the drive to add a new program, but the cd drive didn't seem to work ( I know- it was only $3) The notebook also had an external floppy disk drive( the small hard square ones )? I was messing around with the computer trying to figure out why the cd drive didn't seem to work. I couldn't open/close it and it didn't seem to be recognized by the computer. Anyways, I think I disabled something called a drive controller???? I'm not really sure, but the next time I turned the computer on it said "memory initialize 32512KB insert system disk in drive press any key to continue". I would press a key and it just kept repeating the message "insert system disk in drive press any key to continue".. I can't get it to do anything but that. The cd drive still doesn't seem to work ( I don't even care about that anymore, just want to be able to do SOMETHING on the notebook itself) I put a boot up disk for windows 98 in the external drive and I can hear it running, but that same message keeps popping up- it won't do anything else! Any help would be great ! Thanks!

I have a Ricoh, but changed it to the Legacy driver.
I still have to manually disable / enable it to access my drive.

I guess the Windows team figured it would make good use of a persons free time.

Anyone know how to fix this?
If the external is running when I boot, I have to go through this same process each time.

Thx

Answer:IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller must be disabled/enabled

When I reinstall the correct FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller driver, it still does the same thing. I must disable / enable it to access my drive.

How stupid is that?

My Notebook is a Tecra S2.
After a FritzCard PCMCIA v2.0 is plugged in, the Lan Controller is disabled.
Not before the FritzCard PCMCIA is removed and the S2 is re-booted, the LAN Controller can be re-activated.

The LAN-Controller is identified by the device manager as an "Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller". I tried the latest drivers, for the AVM FritzCard as well as for the Marvell Yukon.(1.the original Toshiba LAN Driver from the recover-CD, 2.the latest driver from the Toshiba Support download page and an driver, offered by the Marvell-Web-Site).
All combinations are causing the problem mentioned above
Need a solution !!!
Regards
Ronald

Answer:Tecra S2 - Lan Controller is disabled after FritzCard PCMCIA installation

Hi Ronald

I have no much experience with FritzCard but a friend of mine told me that if someone use this card it is very important to install the provided software before the card can be used. I am pretty sure that there must be some manuals how to install the card properly.

The another thing is that the both devices use the same resources (IRQ).

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

I am using Linux on my IdeaPad Z570, but some special keys do not work, because of lack of driver. There is ideapad-laptop.c driver in kernel, but it supports this laptop only partially. For example, Onekey Theater Button, Thermal Management Button and some Fn keys do not work in Linux. I have some skills in programming, so I started studying source code of ideapad-laptop.c kernel driver, which communicates with Embedded Controller of the laptop. Now I know how to fix Fn+F6 button functionality, which did not work. But getting work Onekey Theater Button and Thermal Management Button is more difficult. By trial-and-error method I have found a way to get them work (to read the state from register 0x31 of Embedded Controller), but I am not sure it is correct way. I did not found any other driver but ideapad-laptop.c and its older versions, and I want to make special keys working. I only need them to generate scan codes so I could bind some custom actions to them, and I need a way to control LED backlight of top keys. I decided to improve ideapad-laptop.c kernel driver. But trial-and-error method is very ineffective way. I need data sheet of Embedded Controller of IdeaPad Z570 to improve driver more quickly and in right way. Where can I find it? Could the support of Lenovo send it to me? P.S. I am not sure if I posted in correct forum, because this topic relates both to IdeaPad laptop and Linux. I am sorry if I posted into wrong forum. Also excuse my bad English, i... Read more

Hi, my name is Ben and i own a 2 year old Lenovo Y530 laptop with windows Vista Home Premium.Everything was working fine, when one day about a month and a half ago, i got the "blue screen of death".Better known as an error code, where your computer crashes.I then proceeded to re-install windows vista, where then it failed to install the updates, and only after a very short amount of time of actually being in the desktop of the computer, it crashed once more, giving the classic error message of it might be something new that was installed, or new hardware, when in reality i didn't install or add/remove any new equipment whatsoever.I bought this Laptop in the US 2 years ago in late 2008, and then moved to Israel. So here is the real problem, after checking the HDD for bugs, or viruses, it was fpormatted, and put back in, also following a system recovery from Lenovos one click recovery system. And found that neither the HDD, or the OS was trhe problem. So since i live in Israel, i sent it to my local Lenovo shop, where they said they do not fix these types of lenovo laptops! So how am i supposed to get to the bottom of this issue? if my local computer lenovo store does not fix my model of computer?I would like an answer ASAP because i need this computer for school and such, and the information that was lost is irrelevant, i would just like the computer to be functioning and stable again.Thank you, and much regards,Ben.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Crashed, not working, no tech support, need expert/lenovo technician advice

To be covered by warranty, your laptop must have IWS (International Warranty Service). That's the only way to get covered. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/UserFiles/IWS/20100909035858_62.htm Best regards.

I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!
