Lenovo Flex 2 14, Keyboard & Touchpad stopped working

Question: Lenovo Flex 2 14, Keyboard & Touchpad stopped working

HELP. My keyboard and touchpad stopped working. Laptop is brand new. I checked Control Panel > Device Manager and system says both of them are working fine. Drivers are also updated.I`m typing with an external keyboard and mouse. Touchscreen and touch-keyboard work both fine. Is there anything I can check in the OS to verify what is going on? Maybe I turned off something. It's a mistery, laptop is brand new. Thanks in advance!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The issue has already solved, just writing for thos who might have the same issue. One day when I turned the notebook on, the keyboard and touchpad did not work. Restarting ddi not help. The only thing I put my attention that time was the battery is almost discharged, so I turned the notebook off, closed the lid, and plugged it in. The next day I turned it on, and everything was working.  Another idea on why it happened: when the notebook lid opens and closes, it might switch to tablet mode, so that the keyboad and touchpad are off.

I'm running a Flex-3 with Windows 10.  Have not made any recent updates or changes to the system, but integrated keyboard and touchpad have stopped responding.  USB keyboard and bluetooth mouse work normally. I'm simply trying to confirm if it is a hardware (motherboard) issue since that seems to be the most likely, but Troubleshooting and the Lenovo Solution Center scans indicate no issues.  I updated keyboard driver to no effect. One strange result, if I disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices and reboot, the Touchpad will again respond.  Keyboard will not.  As soon as I activate Bluetooth mouse, touchpad stops working. Thank you in advance.

Answer:Lenovo flex 2 -14 keyboard and touchpad giving irregular response

Hello, looks like i found the solution! I recently came across another post in this forum, where the user had reported his g5050 showing similar symptoms like mine. A lenovo admin had suggested that it might be due to excess charge stored on the laptop, causing the whole f the keyboard and the touchpad to act like its loosely connected. Solution:As soon as i find my laptop fully charged, immediatley i took off the power plug going into the laptop! And now, its all working fine!

Hi, I'm using a Flex 3 -1470 and whenever I press a key on the keyboard the touchpad becomes disabled. I've tried googling a solution and have the latest drivers from the Lenovo website but nothing seems to work. I've also tried editing the ALPS touchpad registry fix but it didn't work. I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... Actually I'm running Windows chipset provided drivers. But still in doubt, which available driver should I install? There are 2 available.1) Intel ME Driver 63.6 MB Windows 10 (64-bit) 11.0.0.1176 - Release 30/8/20162) Intel Management Engine Interface Driver 81.5 MB Windows 10 (64-bit) 11.6.0.1015 - Release 29/11/20163) Both drivers, in release date/version ascending order.

When using my Flex 2-14, I am unable to ue the keyboard and touchpad at the same time, which becomes a problem when doing things such as playing games. I have the Elan Smart-Pad, and even after going onto the settings for this and changing Palm Tracking to minimum, the problem still persists. Is there a way I can change this?

Hi all. So 2 days ago I was using the laptop for some course work, I then went asleep for maybe 2 hours and when I woke up I was unable to use the touchpad or kyboard. Now I had this issue before but it seemed to fix itself after a day or two. So far I have reset the computer while keeping all my own files, updated, deleted, reinstalled the drivers multiple times, removed the keypad to ensure the ribbon wasn't loose etc etc. I have since been able to get the touchpad to work by messing with the drivers but the keyboard remains the same. I oticed I am able to use it when either the laptop is held at an angle or if the screen if opened up almost flat. I'm guessing this is a driver issue but I can't for the life of me figure out how to resolve this. The laptop is a few years old so no warranty. I've done a lot of reading online about this issue and it seems many people have had the same problem but no posts gave me any real solution. Any help is very much appreciated. I relly don't know what to do now.

I spilled water on my laptop a few days ago. My screen was fine at first, but then (I assume) water got into some part of the hardware. Now the display is barely visible. I think it could be the inverter board that was affected, but I want to know how to fix it/what part(s) I need.In addition, my keyboard doesn't work. The touchscreen keyboard doesn't work either. I can tap on the keys, but nothing shows up. What is affected so that I can't even use the touchscreen keyboard? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Flex 14-- screen dim, keyboard not working

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Water spilled into a laptop can cause a variety of problems as well as short  circuits.  It would be difficult to pin point exactly where your problems lie.  I suspect though that laptop isn't thoroughly dried out yet which maybe part of the problem.  I would suggest you open it up and let it continue to dry out, before proceeding further.  For your reference here is a link to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual.......

I've tried everything! In the bios setup (f2) the keyboard works! I tested the keyboard and touchpad using the rescue and recovery CD and functioned! Is not a physical problem because I put a HD from another T61 and both peripherals are working again! So I think the problem is in the operating system Vista 32bits. Has anyone experienced this? thank you

Answer:The keyboard and the TouchPad stopped working!

Hi, Rabbitvix

I haven't experienced this issue, but the fact that the keyboard works in BIOS but not in the OS indicates a software issue, not hardware. I would recommend booting the machine in Safe Mode to see if this helps. If the TouchPad and the keyboard resume functioning in Safe Mode, then we may be able to solve this issue by removing a driver.

To boot into Safe Mode in Windows Vista:

Start the computer from cold boot.
When the splash screen appears (says "Lenovo) being tapping F8 repeatedly.
Continue tapping F8 until a menu appears.
Select Safe Mode.
Hit Enter.
The computer should now boot to Safe Mode.

Also, one final question: If you plug in an external mouse, does this function well, or does it experience problems as well?

Best of luck,
Adam

I have a just over one year old (~14 months) Dell Inspiron 17 laptop with Win 8.1 (no touch) and of course it's out of warranty. The mouse simply stopped working, no cursor. I was able to use the touchpad but then that quit too in quick order.
I spent hours searching here and the interweb looking for possible fixes, so far no luck.
The worst of the issue is now I can't get past the splash screen to the login screen to access the repair/restore functions in Windows.
How do I access these when I can't even login to the computer?

Answer:Mouse stopped working, then touchpad, then keyboard

I called Dell and they want almost $300 to send it back so they can 'look at it'!
Any thoughts or suggestions to solve this issue?

Hi

My netbook is a Samsung n145plus and has 8.1 installed with all updates. (even if it's not officially supported but it works amazingly fine)

I've installed the officia Samsung Elan touchpad driver as it seemed to work fine (it's for Win 7) except when scrolling with the edge of the pad because a Elan window appears on the taskbar and was annoying so I installed a newer driver but for a gateway laptop it installed fine but it wasn't detected by Elan in control panel so I removed it.

Now both the keyboard and touchpad stopped working and Windows says code 19 for keyboard and code 10 for touchpad. A USB mouse works fine. I've reinstalled both with Device Manager without success. Now the netbook is almost useless
Thanks

Answer:Netbook keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Reinstalled twice the Elan driver and now both it and keyboard work I don't know what does the KB have to do with the touchpad...
Now I will try to fix the aforementioned bug when edge scrolling

i have read about similar problems on here but none of the solutions worked for me. the keyboard seems to work just fine until the "starting windows" screen appears then absolutely nothing. i've tried reinstalling the alps pointing device drivers, i uninstalled then installed the newer version, nothing seems to work. the computer was working just fine until i came home from work and turned it on. this same problem happend about 2 months ago and it magically fixed it self, i just never turned the computer off again. i have 2 identical sony vaio VPC-EB33FM/BJ models, and have compared all the drivers and settings, they are the exact same (except the newer version of Alps on the broken one). i ran one of those "scan for new drivers" programs that ask for money to update drivers that it says are old and it said that the HID keyboard device driver is way out of date along with several others, but once again they are the same as the ones on the computer i am using now and this one works like a champ. anyone have any ideas? would be truely grateful for all input, thank you.

Sounds like hardware problem.
Try to set the notebook back to factory settings. I guess you would need to use an external USB keyboard in case the internal keyboard does not work.

I have a serious problem in my Satellite A300-243. I installed using a CD a driver for external keyboard and after I restarted both keyboard and touchbpad stopped working and taking any order when I reach the vista welcome page.
What should I do because you know even I cant enter the windows to uninstall that driver.

Any way to do it while windows starting up?

Answer:Satellite A300-243 - Keyboard and touchpad stopped working

Hello

Why you installed a driver for external keyboard? I never heard about such drivers?

Anyway, you should try to boot in safe mode and then you are able to remove external keyboard driver from software list. After restarting in normal mode, the touchpad and keyboard should work properly again.

Answer:Windows10 (64-bit) - Lenovo Z50-70 Touchpad stopped working

Hi there, Sohailur                    -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just found the same problem with my lenovo Z50. Touch pad completely non responsive.

Under start menu, settings, devices, mouse & touchpad, additional mouse options, elan tab. The elan touchpad settings were completely grayed out and unavailable.

So from there I went to the window search in the task bar and typed in "computer management? and opened the computer management desktop app. Under device manager selected mice and other pointing devices and then elan input device. In the elan properties window that opened I selected uninstall to uninstall the driver and in the next box that opened warning that the driver was about to be uninstalled l checked the delete driver and then OK. Then restarted windows. In the process of restarting windows detected the elan touchpad as a new device and installed the driver in time for the login screen. So my elan touch pad is now working again.

Here is the link to download the Lenovo Windows 10 driver for the touchpad from our support site.  -> TouchPad Driver Windows 10

Forgive me if this is in the wrong area.
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It kept prompting me to upgrade to Windows 10, so I did so.
Now the button that disables my touchpad (also the F5 button) is not working.
The touchpad will not turn off.

Secondly, when I try to move the cursor, the "right click" menu pops up wherever the cursor lands, and it will not let me type. I have to use an external mouse to click out of the menu, then put the cursor back where I wanted it to land.

How can I make the disable button on my keyboard work again, and how can I fix the mouse so that the right click menu only comes up if I actually right click?

Thank you!

It runs Vista Home Premium, which I am not familiar with.

I have had this notebook for a few years and it has performed well. Today however I brought it out of hibernation mode, and it beeped. The keyboard and touchpad were not working. I restarted the computer and it beeped as it was loading, giving a message that said "Keyboard not detected." Once windows booted up, same problem. I shut down and restarted, same problem. I then unplugged everything, took the battery out, put it back together, and now it works fine. I'm a little concerned about this. Is this an indication of a possible hardware failure, or could something else more innocuous be causing it? Thanks in advance!

I was playing a video game on my laptop around 4:30, when the keyboard suddenly stopped working. The mouse still functioned, so I tried clicking around to see if it was just a problem with the game. Then at 4:32, the mouse stopped working, too. I decided to try turning it off, but neither holding nor pressing the power button worked, so I unplugged the laptop from the charger and left it to run out of power on it's own. At 4:35, the display froze. I know this, because up until then the clock was still working. Currently, the vent fan is still running, and the screen is frozen. No keyboard buttons work, and neither the built-in trackpad nor an HDMI mouse is working.  Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I need to send it in?The laptop was a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series, with Nvidia GeForce GTX and an Intel Core i7.

I bought this laptop last december and there was nearly no problem (everything was working fine) about it until recently. I always use it only at home with a keyboard and mouse attached to it because of what I do and I find it easy not using the touchpad and keyboard of the laptop. I only use them occationally. Recently I brought it with me and I was surprised neither the keyboard or the touchpad is not working. I searched the forums and I cannot find any posts that was the same as my case. I also searched drivers for both and installed them but nothing happened. When I installed the driver for my touchpad it said that there was no driver to be updated. I looked to my control panel then in the mouse properties, and the synaptics pointing device isn't there anymore. There I started to think that it's a hardware problem. I'm wondering why is it a hardware problem as I rarely use them. Now I could still use my laptop normally with a keyboard and mouse attached. I really need to get this fixed as soon as possible because I'm going to need it for school. If it's not fixed here then I'm probably going to a service center to report about the issue. Thank you in advance and have a great day!

Hi Dyisi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that the Touchpad device is not detected in your computer even after trying to re-install its driver. Hence, the only available option to confirm if the issue is hardware related by performing OSRI (Operating System Re-Installation).

NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.

Hope to hear back soon

Hello I bought a Lenovo E51-80 for my mother in law a few weeks ago.  I updated the Drivers and Windows, removed some of the Levono software, installed various software and then following the install iTunes and iCloud, then restarted, and the Keyboard and Touchpad stopped responding, apart from the Brightness Hotkeys and another Hotkey. When I put the PC into Safe Mode, the keyboard worked fine, but when I booted into Windows again it didn't.  I also tried Bios, but there wasn't any options relating the Keyboard and Touchpad.  I then did a System Restore to a point before I installed iTunes and this got it working again. It has since happened again a number of times, and I though it might have been a Windows Patch or something I installed, but I'm not so sure now and it seems to happen following a restart, and more frequently following a install and restart. I have also reinstalling the Driver for the Lenovo pointing device, but this didn't work, and each time, the system restore gets the Keyboard and Touchpad working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I initially was getting by via the on screen keyboard until I began borrowing an external wireless one. The following is what I knowReset to factory settings did not work.Optimizing OS in BIOS is enabled already (enabling this was suggested by Lenovo Support)THE ARROW KEYS WORK IN BIOS (??!???!?)An external keyboard works (I have used two different Logitech keyboards and both work)Before I sign in, FN+Space seems to work thus (re)activating my backlight. Once I sign in, it stops working. There's no updates for the keyboard driver.I have already tried to uninstall the driver, restart the laptop, and allow it to reinstall the driver.Disabling ymc did not help.F6 does not re-enable the touchpad.I tried a couple button combinations I've seen around for people disabling/enabling keyboards, but none worked. (Willing to try more though!!!) Any ideas? I thought it may be a hardware problem, but since the arrow keys work in BIOS; I'm not confident that this is the case.

Hi guys, I am trying to maintain my doughter's school aptop but encountered something exceding my limited expertise. Since about 10 days the touchpad, buttons and the red thingie stopped working. I have read all the forum issues, uninstalled the drivers and re-installed new ones (first through the lenovo sulotion centre, then the synaptics generic version). About 6 times now. That didn't work. It says "component not present, not working correctly or divers not fully installed, error 24" (translation from Dutch, probably used some incorrect terms).Running windows 10 on this t420. All worked fine untill this happened. I saw that some new mouse drivers have been installed around the day of malfunction but can't find how or where to remove those (still getting used to this windows 10).Any suggestions?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T420 trackpad and touchpad right/left click stopped working

So far, there's just 2 of us with trackpoint / touchpad problems as a result of installing Windows 10.  My post:  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T420-Win-10-Pro-Ultra-Nav-19-00-12-61-Tr... I've combed through this forum and have no one else reporting these same issues; most are reporting that left and right click buttons are working, but the middle button did not work.  In my case, it was the opposite; the middle button scrolled (albeit very choppy), and the left / right buttons were dead.for my Trackpoint.  It's not a hardware issue, as all buttons function as normal in Win 7, but upon installation of Win 10, the buttons do not work.  I went so far as to do a clean install of Win 10 to ensure there were no conflicts between Win 10 and any leftover Win 7 system files, only to end up with the same old left and right button problems. So until the Ultra Nav drivers to enable full functionality of trackpoint / touchpad device, the only solution is to use a physical mouse or revert back to your prior operating system.

So I have had a very... VERY... irritating problem with my Thinkpad. For the first 6 or so months I had the laptop it worked fine. Then, the left click on the touchpad was functioning like the right click (bringing up a menu).  I immediately disabled the touchpad and then used the trackpad right and left clicks which worked perfectly. After another 4 or 5 months, those buttons stopped working altogether. I could still use the touchpad to move the arrow, but I couldn't click on anything. I bought an external USB mouse and that worked fine for another 2 months. Then for a few weeks, it would work on and off. I'd have to wiggle it around in the USB ports to get the laptop to recognize it. (it had nothing to do with the ports... there were 3 of them and they all worked fine). Then it stopped working completely, AND, my laptop refuses to acknowledge ANY USB I plug in.  I have run out of options now. I can't even install anything, download any files from lenovo website. I can't do anything. Does anyone know if it is still salvageable? Has anyone had the same problem? The lenovo digitizer for tablets.... would that work for this thinkpad? (sorry... not as tech savvy as the rest of you) Thanks a bunch,Amanda

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T420 trackpad and touchpad right/left click stopped working

Go into the BIOS (press F1 during the initial bootup) menu then go into CONFIG -> Keyboard/Mouse -> Disable both the TrackPoint and Touch Pad -> press F10 to save and exit.

I have the exact same problem is another user on the forum here. I installed arch linux on my N22 last week. I put the laptop down yesterday, came back to it later, and now the keyboard doesn't work! I'm almost positive it's a hardware problem with these laptops but if anyone has info that would be great.

Hello, I was playing a Steam game last night and all of a sudden without warning the keyboard suddenly stops working.  At first I thought it was the game so I randomly clicked around and nothing worked. I was somehow able to exit the game but the keyboard has stopped working completely. Meaning the Capslock light doesn't turn on, the numlock light doens't turn on either. I have a Windows 8.1 just to let you know.  I have tried the following. 1. Going into control panel and turning off the filter keys and toggle keys. Didn't work. 2. Going into Device Manager and uninstalling the keyboard and re-installing. Didn't work. 3. Went into Registry and messed with the UpperFiler like they told me. Didn't work.  The only thing left is a factory reset then??  I had to buy a USB keyboard and it's pretty annoying.  I was wondering if I accidentally locked the keyboard?? I don't know what else is there.  Are there any other solutions? Please let me know. Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Edge 15 here, keyboard suddenly stopped working

Hi BassFan ,

Welcome to the Community.

Well you have done the WIndows troubleshooting pretty well , both on registry and sticky keys.  External keyboard working , and may also be working with windows onscreen keyboard too.

I would hold up the factory reset for now, knowing that it would erase everything n your harddrive and that you would need to reinstall and download all your applications and games again.

Before you decide on that , best to check if that keyboard is physically broken or not.

Turn off the pc , use Novo button (page 7 of your manual ) to turn on , Try going to the BIOS and see if the arrow keys would work , time and date to test the number keys , security password for the letters ( just for testing, don't save password).
Just press the power button to turn off , and leave the BIOS or exit without saving on Exit tab .
If internal keyboard keys works on the BIOS then you can try system restore or even factory reset,
Loading BIOS Default can also refresh the settings . (exit tab choices or F9 load defaults / F10 to save and exit)

Your hardware manual can show step to reseat  keyboard if you a tech but if you have an active warrantythen best to use it .
Else check your warranty and call in tech support for repair.
Hope every goes well . Have us updated here too so that we can share it among the community.

My keyboard and mouse just stopped working, abruptly. This occurred after a Windows update earlier today. Now I get a 'Code 10' Error message on the Device Manager for the 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and the 'PS/2 Compatible Mouse' The code reads the following in full for both: This device cannot start. (Code 10)Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API. Please let me know what the next step to take is. P.S. I've tried updating the drivers and have restated countless times. Thank you in advance!

?I bought a laptop, Lenovo flex -1570 from US through amazon.com, for my father's birthday present. Thanks for ruining it in a way that I could have never imagined. In just 2 days of laptop usage, the mouse pad has come out. The amazing service center in India (ticket no. HT014716010) said that the glue that held mousepad to the laptop "WASN'T STICKY ENOUGH" and added that they do not support this laptop as its "international warranty" is limited to US and China and I need to take it to your US service center to fix it. $619 laptop, 2 days, and it is nothing more than a junk box to me. As a birthday present I have gifted my father nothing more than added tension and thanks to you guys for making that happen. Attaching a pic for your reference. ?

First of all, in spite of the timing of this post (posting the same day that the update is becoming available for most people), this isn't Windows 10.1/115 (I forget the update's nickname) related (this computer hasn't updated yet). A few days ago, the trackpad stopped working. (It worked fine for about 3 months with Windows 10, and roughly a year with Windows 8.1)

I tried the device manager "uninstall device" thing, which often works. In this case, however, detect hardware did not detect the trackpad after uninstalling.
I've tried all drivers I can find, including the latest driver per Lenovo's website (plus the one Windows update installs, ironically newer than Lenovo's website
I've tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't lead to any success after reinstalling later
The device does list itself in the trackpad/mouse properties panel in the systray, I don't know if that means it's being detected somewhere, or if it's because the driver is installed. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249
In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."
On this device, the F6 key is the one that activates/deactivates the trackpad normally, but nothing happens, no feedback, and no magical fix. For comp... Read more

Hi, I hope you're doing well. I recently upgraded my Lenovo Flex 2 (15 inch) notebook from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After upgrading, the right click button on my touchpad stopped working. Suspecting a driver issue, I uninstalled the driver to allow the default Windows driver to take over. The right-click button started to work again, so it's not a hardware problem. However, the touchpad, in general, became erratic and difficult to use. I then downloaded the latest Lenovo Flex 2 touchpad driver for Windows 10. However, the touchpad returned to the way it was after the upgrade and the right-click button does not work. Please help me with this. I need my laptop to function properly during my travels. Kind regards, Ash

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 - Upgrading to Windows 10 Disables Right-Click Button on Touchpad

Since nobody in the Lenovo community answered this, and Customer Support refuses to provide support for their own drivers (without charging you $70 for Premium Support), I will post the solution that I found on my own, so that other innocent customers can be helped. Uninstall the touchpad driver from Programs & Features, then download Windows 8.1 version of the touchpad driver (Bay) from the Lenovo Flex 2 drivers page. Install it and it will work perfectly on Windows 10 (unlike the Windows 10 driver). Enjoy. Ash

Since lately my FLEX 2 Pro (15) camera no longer works when I use Skype; it doesn't appear in the relevant devices list. How can I check the camera's OK and get it working again please?

Answer:FLEX 2 Pro camea has stopped working

hi EricDeeson,

If you're running on Wni8.1 / Win10, can you press the Windows Key+R then devmgmt.msc then hit Enter to open Device Manager. On the list of devices, check if you have an Imaging Devices --> Lenovo Easy Camera on similar entry.
  - Samlpe image

If the Camera is there but it has an exclamation mark, try the following:
1. Reinstalling the Camera Driver from the D:\Drivers folder or from the Flex 2 Pro drivers page then reboot.
2. After rebooting, check the Device Manager --> Imaging Devices entry and if the Camera device doesn't show any exclamation mark anymore, open SKype or a webcam testing website (like this one) and see if the Camera is now working.

If the Camera is not detected  try to:
1. Boot into the BIOS by tapping F2 during boot-up. In the BIOS, hit F9 to load default settings then hit F10 to save and exit.
2. When Windows boots up, check if the Camera is now detected under Device Manager --> Imaging Devices  try try opening Skype or other apps that uses the Camera.

If all the above steps doesn't work then there's likely a problem with the camera and I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk and report the problem.

Hello! I bought a Lenovo Y50 UHD laptop about 3 weeks ago. So far I have but one problem (besides 48hz...), and that is that I can notice some keyboard flex around the keys "5" and "4" on the number pad and around "." and ",". My roommate also got this laptop and on his laptop, there is no noticable keyboard flex anywhere on the keyboard. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is there a way that something (customer service or computer techs like Geek Squad) that can fix this?

My laptop has been performing fabulously since I bought it a little under a month ago. Two weeks ago, one of the usb 3.0 ports on the right side (not the "always on" one) stopped working. If I plug my phone into it, it begins to charge but does not show up on windows. If I plug in my external hard drive, it powers up, but also is not recognized. If I plug in a flash drive with a light, it does not light up and is not recognized. I updated the BIOS (didn't work), tried to update the usb drivers that were installed (didn't work) and then tried uninstalling the drivers in device manager, rebooting and allowing windows to automatically reinstall them (didn't work). The other 2 usb ports work fine, one is 2.0 and the other is 3.0. Any thoughts on what to try next? I may just return it since the place I bought it from will still take it back.

Answer:Flex 3-1580, one USB 3.0 port stopped working

I have that problem also. Device Manager indicates unknown drivers for these usb ports. I uninstall them and when it reboots the OS does not pick them up. The system worked fine for a month also and then this happened...I will try next to recover back to original factory settings, but I am not confident that it will fix it or that it will not happen again. I think lenovo quality assurance is poorer than other companies...

I noticed with the T500 I purchased there existed some keyboard flex. I got sort of used to it. One of the keys broke (my own doing). I replaced the keyboard from my old T60 (FRU No: 42T3209). Wow! What a huge difference. The old design is superior in every way. It does weigh a little more but the difference in feel and ruggedness make it a much better choice. I am going to order a second 42T3209 keyboard for the T60. If anyone gets annoyed with the keyboard flex, I suggest searching (ebay, parts surplus) for the 42T3209 keyboard. To Lenovo: Please consider the old keyboard design in future models. Thank you.

Answer:Dear Lenovo, keyboard flex ...

I called Lenovo complaining about the same issue on my W500. The first person turned me down but the second rep ordered me a stronger keyboard, shipped next day air, 100% free-of-charge.

Hi everybody I am new in this forum. I have a new Flex 2 14 since some days and I am trying to figure out how the keyboard works. I used to work with one Mac and typing characters was pretty easy.. what appears just on the keys ti will be typed when I write. Now with my new  Flex 2 it doesn't seem to work like that anymore. I have some blue keys that work when the keyboard is set as English Canadian multilingual.. others that don't write at all what is written on them.. (example the ź╗ blue key give me the " ¨ " when i type on it, and I found by chance how to type the " Ó " character). Yesterday while I was writing an e-mail I needed to type the " ˛ " but I wasn't able to find the key equivalent on the keyboard so I had to use the touchscreen keyboard to get right my " ˛ ". Another time I was looking to insert the " [ " brackets but I had to change the language on my keyboard from " English Canadian" to "English US" to get them. Can I make my typing easier? Is there any way to get all the basic symbols on my keyboard without switching language or using the touchscreen keyboard?I would like to make faster writing as I was used to do with my Mac. I looked for instructions but nothing is specified. Thank you for your help

I have been in the market for a new laptop and decided to go with the Lenovo Flex 3 (which I didn't even know existed until a few days ago). It is so new that the only place that actually sells it is Lenovo.com. I got the one with the highest specs on sale. If you look on Flex 3 (15") | Affordable, Thin, & Light Multimode Laptop| Lenovo US you will notice something strange though. The keyboard for the i7 model is "Backlight French-English". None of the other ones are like that. The others all say "Backlight English".
I asked someone at Lenovo what that meant because I was concerned that it wasn't in QWERTY format. They said (and im not sure I believe them) that it only meant that some of the keys have French characters underneath them. The keys should be in the same spot. When I looked up images of French-English keyboards, a lot of them have 2 characters on EVERY key. It looks like the keyboard can either be in French or English mode, but it also looks confusing because the characters are the same size.
I asked Lenovo why the heck they would make 1 model that comes with a weird keyboard and every other model doesn't, and they didn't have an answer. I haven't received the laptop yet but im a little nervous as to what to expect. I love the specs and the design of the laptop, but if the keyboard is a jumbled mess of characters then I may regret my purchase. I don't look at the keyboard to type, but I still feel like it could be very confusing.
Has anyone seen a French-Engl... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Flex 3 keyboard is weird

If you'd like to see the keyboard up close, here is an image of what Lenovo does with French-English Keyboards. This is NOT a photo of the Flex 3, but of an older model laptop that they used a French-English keyboard. It may give you an idea of what one might look like. It basically makes it easier to enter French accent characters.

I just purchased a Lenovo Y50 UHD about a week ago, and the keyboard has been really bugging me. All the keys in the near vicinity of the 'G' and 'H' key in the center of the keyboard for some reason trigger a weird flex/trampoline style effect, which is very noticeable compared to keys near the edge of the keyboard (Tab, Q, number pad, etc.) I'm not sure if this is something that is prevalent in all models of the Y50 or Y50 UHD so it'd be great if i got some feedback from other owners. I'm definitely considering returning if this is a common problem. Thanks.

Hi there, I'm hoping that I can get some help - in very simple terms.  I am a little confused and intimidated by all things "computer".  I just received the IdeaPad flex 15 with windows 8 for Christmas.  I was slowly getting things set up when my cursor froze... for like 20 minutes, I couldn't be patient any longer so I tapped it with my finger, hoping to get it to reset. It did not, it disappeared and somehow disabled my touch pad.  I have tried the FN keys like suggested in other posts and google searches, I have restarted the computer countless times... When I look under the control panel - mouse - hardware - nothing is listed??  I don't want to do anything else to ruin my new computer but I want to get this fixed so I can have a fully functioning laptop, not just a touch screen. Thanks in advance for any help or direction.Much appreciated.

Answer:Ideapad flex 15 w/windows 8 - touch pad stopped working

Continue to let the automatic updates download, install and then reboot.  It takes a LONG time. I had an issue with the touchpad but it worked after a few more updates.

The touchscreen on my Flex 15 stopped working. I am not sure exactly when, but in the last few months.  I am already on Win10, and it has worked fine since the Win10 upgrade over a year ago.  In Device Manager, I can see the HID Touch Screen entry.  I tried uninstalling and deleting it, followed by a restart.  Reinstalled itself on start-up, but no joy.  It claims to be working.   I have seen other similar posts saying to delete entries under Mice... but I don't see any Touch Screen entries there.Interestingly, I see most of the drivers have Event dates of 2-Jul 2017, saying "Device migrated". I am suspecting some delightful Micorsoft "improvement" on that date may have been the cuplrit, but I also feel like the touch screen may have been working after that date.  Unfortunately, I don't use the touch screen very often, but I DO need it now and then. Thoughts?
