Flex 2-15 Keyboard/Trackpad no longer working

Question: Flex 2-15 Keyboard/Trackpad no longer working

Basically the keyboard/trackpad are no longer working for my lapop (Flex 2-15). Here's the run down of what I know:1) Function keys still work such as brightness up or down and turning off the screen.2) In device manager there is the yellow traigle with an exclamation point for the trackpad, but the keyboard driver seems functioning properly.3) On the mouse driver it says Code 10, timed out.4) I've tried uninstalling the mouse driver and restarting to see if windows would install automatically, and the driver comes back, but with the same code 10.5) Touch screen works fine.6) Running Windows 8.1.7) Tried restoring from factory settings and the issue is still here.8) USB mouse and keyboard work perfectly fine.9) Tried switching modes to see if keyboard/trackpad was disabled, but no luck there either. Greatly appreciate some help here as this is beyond frustrating since I've only had this laptop for a little over a month and can no longer return it. Also Lenovo doesn't support anything besides hardware and wants $70-140 to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Flex 2-15 Keyboard/Trackpad no longer working

Whoa, Lenovo cannot charge you for keyboard failure. All lenovo laptops are covered by atleast 1 year warranty.
Since you already tried a factory reset, it seems like a hardware problem.
(Reset removed all your personal stuff from laptop?)

1) Where did you purchase this from?
2) Did the keyboard/mouse stopped working suddenly or something happened?
3) Check your warranty, phone numbers etc here -
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/contactus
Call them and ask for repair. They cannot charge for a hardware failure.

Hello I sent in my Lenovo Flex 15 for warrenty to fix a my loose trackpad. When I got it back the trackpad was still loose but now:1) the trackpad causes the mouse to skip when I drag my finger across - like it jumpsa large distance2) the keyboard is not registering random keys Pretty sure this is not a driver issue as I did a factory reset and I still have these problems. Is there anyway to fix this? I can't send my computer in till December as I just started school.

Hi, I've been having some problems with my Lenovo G580 laptop recently, most of which have stemmed from problems I've had with Google Chrome recently, though perhaps only coincidentally. Effectively Chrome completely crashed on me a few days ago, affecting a few things which have now been resolved after uninstalling the browser and eventually re-installing it, after much effort and resistance from my laptop. Yet ever since Chrome's been re-installed, my trackpad appears to have been re-configured, so that it is no longer possible to scroll using the slight groove on the side of the trackpad. Now only 2-finger scrolling is an option, which is incredibly clumsy and slow, and also frustrating now considering the groove of the mousepad now acts as part of the cursor. Are there any ways of reverting to single-finger scrolling with the trackpad? I've attempted to install some drivers to fix this, but they're probably the wrong ones, since neither download properly. Thanks in advance,Chris

Answer:G580 [EDIT-keyboard and mouse dead] Trackpad No Longer Scrolls - [SOLVED - KIND OF]

Since this issue seems to be centered on Google Chrome, and the problems with installing - why continue to use the browser? Uninstall Chrome, run driver cleaner or CCleaner to remove any left behind software. Also - uninstall anything related to Google (Google Toolbar, Google Update) if possible and then see if your tracpad returns to normal operation. If still not working correctly, remove trackpad drivers, reboot and re-install.If it still continues to have errors, you may need to repair or refresh the OS files. Back up your important data before using either of these options as it may be destructive to user information.Good luck.

For some strange reason, the trackpad gestures to scroll or whatever is no longer working. I use to be able to scroll down a webstite using the 2 finger dragging down gestures. Is there a fix for this?  I think it stopped working after I ran some Windows 10 update the other day.

Hey guys, i'm stumped.

Laptop Info:
Toshiba Satellite L75D-A7283
Windows 8.1

Track pad doesn't work. All started randomly one day when I started the laptop up. Just didn't work. Now the keyboard will stop  working after about 10 minutes.
Things I've tried:
FN Key  + F5 (enable/disable trackpad)
Double tapping the top left corner of track pad.
Uninstalled all trackpad drivers, restarted, let windows install drivers.
Uninstalled all trackpad drivers, restarted, installed Toshiba Drivers
Checked BIOS for disabled Trackpad.
Lastly, reinstalled windows 8.

I got nothing. I'm stuck.
Any suggestions?

Hi, Normally, you just need to turn off SmartSense or PalmCheck the Synaptics control panel - however from what I've seen, this no longer seems to work for Windows 10 versions of this driver. You may be able to get around this as follows. First, download the Synaptics driver on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. Synaptics Driver Version 17.0.18.8 Turn off your wireless card ( should be f12 ). Open windows control panel, open Programs and Features, right click the current Synaptics driver and select Uninstall. When complete, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder and run the Synaptics installer - when this has completed, restart the notebook again. Open the Synaptics settings panel, disable SmartSense or PalmCheck and then check if the touchpad will now work with a keyboard key held down.  If it does, turn your wireless card back on and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating the Synaptics driver. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3073930 Regards, DP-K

Ever since a Windows update took place last night, my keyboard and trackpad won't work. I've tried a system reboot using the recovery key, and tried to perform a Lenovo system update but nothing has worked. I tried to update the BIOS on the Lenovo support site but there is no option for Windows 10, only Windows 8.1, as you can see here: http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y40-80/downl... If anyone has anything else for me to try I'd really appreciate it.

Hi there,

Any help would be massively appreciated here as have really run out of ideas with this problem!

Unit: Macbook Pro mid 2010 model

All was working fine until one day, after using a projector in work, the unit was shutdown. When it came back on both the keyboard and the trackpad no longer function.

Key facts so far:

The keyboard responds just after power on, so that a command via the keys can occur i.e. press C to boot from disc or cmd S for single user mode etc BUT once the operating system has booted up, neither the keyboard or trackpad work.

If I plug in a USB mouse/keyboard all works fine. Also, if I use an external bluetooth keyboard and mouse all is fine.

The OS is completely up-to-date and runs on 10.6.8.

The keyboard backlight work fine.

Actions so far:

I have run both Disc Utility verify disc and also Disk Warrior - no difference.
I have repaired permissions within disc utility - no difference.
I have completely erased (zero pass) the hard drive and re-installed the operating system from the disc - problem still there.
I have tried Applejack also - no difference.
I have reset PRAM / NVRAM using usual method - no difference.
I have started in Safe Mode - problem still there i.e. cannot use keyboard or trackpad even in safe mode.

The only thing that has happened is that, when I booted into Single User Mode, the system went a little crazy and kept repeating the an error relating to AppleUSBMultitouchDriver 0xe000404f over and over. I was unable to do... Read more

Hello all, I am running Win 7 HP 64 bit on the Lenovo S205. (Clean re-install with the Synaptics driver from the lenovo site and all other drivers from there too): Whenever I press any key on the keyboard, the trackpad stops responding, and only responds again .5 seconds or so after the last keypress. If I keep any key pressed down, the trackpad won't respond at all. This makes gaming complety impossible and also irritates me a lot in normal use. Any idea what might be causing this? Best regards,Bunneh

WTH?!?!?

Thanks!!

Answer:None working keyboard, trackpad, and usb mouse

1) What happens if you uninstall the USB mouse and only have the touchpad online?
2) Also, are you using an external monitor plugged into the S/VGA port?  Reason for asking:  in the old days, if during a monitor swap, a certain monitor pin was accidentally bent and not making contact, the keyboard and mouse would not respond.  Wait, you said you can use mouse, keyboard, touchpad in BIOS?  Then, #2 doesn't apply to you.

Answer:Keyboard and trackpad not working after bios update

Hi, One thing you could try would be to see if you can roll back to the previous bios version as follows. Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ). Select the Firmware Management option and then select the BIOS Rollback option. Regards, DP-K

Earlier today I opened up my T510 for maintanence. In doing so, I removed the keyboard. After putting everything back together, the trackpoint/trackpad did not work. That includes the the **bleep**-mouse, trackpad, and all mouse buttons. The trackpad wasn't even removed, but I guess the data connection for that goes through the rest of the keyboard (?). I took the keyboard out several times to make sure the connection was secure and inspect for physical damage. There was nothing. The obvious thing to do here is replace the keyboard and desperately hope that the problem is not with the mobo connector, but the problem is sufficently strange (keyboard working but not mouse) thatI figured it would be worth posting here to see if anyone has any insight.

Answer:Trackpad/point not working after keyboard removal

I would not think it was so sensitive to fail. The connector are fully seating to the MB connection (s). Is there a cable coming off the trackpad, did it get disturbed pulling the keyboard out?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to fix my mums Toshiba Satellite L750D - 1GC laptop. Quick story; I updated it to Windows 10 and the wifi would not work tried to see if it was Windows 10 being the issue so I put it back to Windows 7 but after I did the trackpad and keyboard have stopped working altogether apart from the Fn key which doesn't help me at all. Whats makes it worse is that no usb mouses or keyboards I plug in seem to work! I've tried a few work arounds already like taking out the battery, pressing F9 in the BIOS etc but still nothing. The last thing would be to do a system restore. I have a Windows 7 disk so if anyone knows a way of fixing the issue or could talk me though doing a system restore via the BIOS but still keeping files like photos etc (If possible restore it to a previous date) that would be great.

Thanks very much,
Jack

For a while now my my detachable Keyboard, Trackpad and Mouse have kept stopping. It has happened before and cured itself but so far not this time. A new and odd behaviour is that after closing down and relaunching everything does work, for about two seconds only, just enough time to log in and click one item in the Taskbar. From then on I have to rely on Touch, until I set up a standby Bluetooth board and mouse which are not perfect but enable me to keep using my 2-in-1 PC.

As it may not recover of its own accord or may take a long time to do so I would be relieved if someone can diagnose what might be happening and how to prevent it. Is it a hardwear or a software issue?

Hello, So I have had my Y510p laptop for about 2 years now and it had worked great for the longest time, but as of a month ago I've started to have issues with it. About a month ago my trackpad would randomly start turning off and for a while I could just use the Fn command to turn it back on, but about a week ago the trackpad just completely stopped working all together, I couldn't even turn it on with the Fn command anymore. The same day my keyboard started following suit with the trackpad where it would stop working randomly. I can still seem to use a USB mouse and keyboard but I don't want to have to carry them around wherever I go. Rebooting seems to solve the issue for the keyboard but I don't want to have to rely on constantly restarting my laptop just so I can get my keyboard. So I was wondering if anyone would know how to solve these issues?

Long story short, someone spilled liquid on my keyboard. I took it apart, removed the keyboard, soaked it in a water (with a tiny bit of hand soap) solution to clean it. Let it dry for 5 days. Reinstalled the keyboard and neither the keyboard or trackpoint work at all. The funny thing is the trackpad below the keyboard doesn't work either, yet I never removed it because it is a seperate entity and is not even connected to the keyboard so I have no idea why that would not work either. I have looked all around the motherboard for any signs of the liquid on it and its clean as a whistle so I am confused why at the very least the trackpad does not work. A usb keybard and mouse work fine, and when I am in windows and I removed the HID compliant keyboard and re-scan it finds the HID compliant keyboard again so it knows its there. What else can I try?

Hello! I spilled cider all over the keyboard on my Ideapad 500s, and now the trackpad doesn't work at all. After the spill I switched it off almost immediately, and tried to turn it on in about half an hour. Everything seems fine apart from the trackpad. Also, during the night the computer started making very loud beeping noises while switched off. I think it was three beeps and a pause. The power button lit up as well. I switched the computer on and there were no changed - everything works apart from the trackpad. Is it posdible to fix it somehow and what should I do?

I have an Asus G73jh with synaptics touchpad. Everything has been working finr since I got it, but recently, after not having installed any windows updates in a few months, I went ahead and ran the updates. Now the built in keyboard and mouse do not work inside windows.

The keyboard works fine in BIOS and I couldn't find any relevant options within the bios settings. However, once windows 7 boots, and I'm at the login screen, the keyboard and built in touchpad don't work at all. My wireless mouse works fine, I haven't been able to try a USB keyboard, but I imagine it would work fine if I tried it.

In the device manager, both devices ate listed and "working properly" without any errors.

I tried looking up a few of the updates that were installed and couldn't find anything that seemed relevant other than one update which apparently changes the euro sign. I uninstalled that one and it still made no difference.

I have searched online for possible solutions but everything I've found mentions reinstalling windows or rolling back to a restore point. I would prefer to avoid either one of those and rather just find the direct cause of the problem so it can be addressed.

If anybody has any ideas other than the "on screen keyboard" please let me know. I really would appreciate it.

Answer:[SOLVED] Laptop built in keyboard and trackpad not working.

Situations like yours is what System Restore is for. Just restore to the date and time before this happened. It will not touch your personal files.
If you don't want to do that, First boot to Bios, go to Integrated Peripherals, look for Legacy USB or Keyboard. If it is disabled, Enable it. then go to the Device Manager, and right click the Keyboard and Mouse and choose Properties/Drivers/Roll Back Driver.
You can also go to the Asus Driver page ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download G73Jh and download the Touchpad driver for your model.

When I lock the desktop, the keyboard and trackpad stop working on my Windows 7 laptop. Therefore, I cannot unlock the system or change my password. Eventually, the screensaver start, and then if I move the mouse or hit a key, the screensaver stops, and the logon screen appear, but the keyboard and track pad are still not working. My only option is to press the power button. The same thing happens if I connect external keyboard and mouse.

It used to work just fine. Not sure what changed to cause this.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Answer:When I lock the desktop, the keyboard and trackpad stop working.

not 100% certain on this but it's an easy fix if I'm right.
I think the power management feature is messing with you.

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

Hi all. So 2 days ago I was using the laptop for some course work, I then went asleep for maybe 2 hours and when I woke up I was unable to use the touchpad or kyboard. Now I had this issue before but it seemed to fix itself after a day or two. So far I have reset the computer while keeping all my own files, updated, deleted, reinstalled the drivers multiple times, removed the keypad to ensure the ribbon wasn't loose etc etc. I have since been able to get the touchpad to work by messing with the drivers but the keyboard remains the same. I oticed I am able to use it when either the laptop is held at an angle or if the screen if opened up almost flat. I'm guessing this is a driver issue but I can't for the life of me figure out how to resolve this. The laptop is a few years old so no warranty. I've done a lot of reading online about this issue and it seems many people have had the same problem but no posts gave me any real solution. Any help is very much appreciated. I relly don't know what to do now.

Yeah, so, as you can see fro the title, my laptop is having some issues xDWhat I can tell y'all is it's not that stuff was out of date because I made sure everything was up to date. Then I read on here that to fix the keyboard issue, I could factory reset it. But that didn't work (Note: I haven't updated anything after the reset). Frankly, I don't know what to do. I'm jsut glad it's a touchscreen so I can do some stuff. As far as the wifi thing goes, it doesn't search for wifi. Even when I tell it too, it just turns it off. Product Info (after reset):Edition: Windows 10 HomeVersion: 1607OS Build: 14393.0Product ID: 00326-10000-00000-AA093S/N: R90HSW77Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50 GHz  2.59 GHzSystem Type: 64-bitPen and Touch: Touch support with 10 touch points Please keep in mind I can not use anything except the touch screen and on screen keyboard. Thanks in advanced. Edit: I forgot to mention that the battery icon is now always showing full and charging (though my battery saver still kicks on), and the pc will not hibernate by closing the lid.

I spilled water on my laptop a few days ago. My screen was fine at first, but then (I assume) water got into some part of the hardware. Now the display is barely visible. I think it could be the inverter board that was affected, but I want to know how to fix it/what part(s) I need.In addition, my keyboard doesn't work. The touchscreen keyboard doesn't work either. I can tap on the keys, but nothing shows up. What is affected so that I can't even use the touchscreen keyboard? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Flex 14-- screen dim, keyboard not working

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Water spilled into a laptop can cause a variety of problems as well as short  circuits.  It would be difficult to pin point exactly where your problems lie.  I suspect though that laptop isn't thoroughly dried out yet which maybe part of the problem.  I would suggest you open it up and let it continue to dry out, before proceeding further.  For your reference here is a link to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual.......

Hi everybody, at home I have an USB-3-Hub for my Flex 2-14 where LAN, external Monitor, external Keyboard, Mouse, Sound, BlueRay and so on is plugged in. So the main time I use the Flex 2-14 at my Desk at Home with this usb-hub like a docking station.  The main difference to a real docking station is, that I have to open the lid everytime to push the power button. When running, I configured Windows 8.1 in the way, that I can close the lid without consequences, but I search for a way to turn in on without opening the lid before. Also wake on Keyboard or even wake on mouse could be an alternative, but I also didn't find a way to aktivate that (neither in the bios, nor in Windows 8.1). An other alternative may be to turn it on because of opening the lid (because in Windows there ist is possibility to shut it down when closing it, so truning it on and off without pressing any button may be another possibility, but I also didnt find a soultion for that. Somebody out there who can help me? Thnx!

When using my Flex 2-14, I am unable to ue the keyboard and touchpad at the same time, which becomes a problem when doing things such as playing games. I have the Elan Smart-Pad, and even after going onto the settings for this and changing Palm Tracking to minimum, the problem still persists. Is there a way I can change this?

The issue has already solved, just writing for thos who might have the same issue. One day when I turned the notebook on, the keyboard and touchpad did not work. Restarting ddi not help. The only thing I put my attention that time was the battery is almost discharged, so I turned the notebook off, closed the lid, and plugged it in. The next day I turned it on, and everything was working.  Another idea on why it happened: when the notebook lid opens and closes, it might switch to tablet mode, so that the keyboad and touchpad are off.

Hi all, I am a new Lenovo user, just got a Flex 14. I have one major question: Please can someone tell me how to reverse teh scrolling direction on the trackpad? I would like to put it back to what I think of as 'normal computer direction', rather than have it mimic a tablet of smartphone. I have to switch between my Flex and my work desktop, and this change in direction drives me a little bit nuts every time! Can anyone tell me how to change the settings? I've searched all over and can't find out how. Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:Flex 14 trackpad direction

hi looking4answers,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you look under the Touchpad properties (ELAN or Synaptics), aren't you able to find any reverse scrolling feature there?
  - Sample image
  - Sample image
  - Sample image

If the reverse scrolling feature isn't there then it's likely disabled or the touchpad driver doesn't support it (you may need to install an older or a newer Touchpad driver).

In addition, you may also want to try these steps (for advanced users only):
1. Edit the registry and change FlipFlopWheel value from 0 to 1 (see this guide).
2. Download and install AutoHotKey and edit or create an AutoHotkey.ahk script in the Documents folder that show the following:

WheelUp:: Send {WheelDown}ReturnWheelDown:: Send {WheelUp}Return
2. When done, right click on the AutoHotKey icon in the notification area and choose File > Reload Script and observe if you can use reverse scrolling..

Hello,I've searched the computer, the help documentation, the internet and this forum and I have yet to find the settings for changing the way the trackpad functions. For example, the scroll feature operates in reverse from what I prefer, and I don't know how to change this. I'm running windows 8.1. My thinkpad edge 420 running Windows 7 had many settings to customize the trackpad. I wouldn't think this would be hard to find, but so far I've been stymied. Thank you for any help.

I am experiencing an annoying problem - my trackpad stopped working. I have narrowed it down to a driver issue. Because if i uninstall the "Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav"-driver the trackpad starts working. As soon I install it again it stops. I have tried rebooting and it's no difference. When the driver is installed I cannot even the "Mouse" dialog in control panel.  I have tried the latest drivers: 18.0.7.40 as well as the previous driver. Same result. I have downloaded the drivers through the website as well as with Lenovo support app.  My model is the new X1 Carbon, model: 20A7005UM5 not even 2 weeks old. It worked until yesterday. The only thing done since is the regular update by Windows 8.1. I even tried a system restore before the updates but now there is no difference.  I want to point out that, when driver is uninstalled, the trackpad works, but without all the functionality. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Regards,Jan

Ok guys.. heres a good one for ya..
I have windows 7 pro, 64 bit.\

Have logitech g110 gaming keyboard.
M510 USB mouse.

3 days ago the mouse's sideways movement got very very slow. Tried to fix it, but windows didn't see it anymore. Tried installing the latest software.. it would not see it..

figured the problem was the usb buss, so i started uninstalling them in device manager.. still no luck.

Tried removing the usb hub, uinstalled it.. rebooted each time i did something.. still when I run the software it will not see the keyboard yet it lights up.. so something is going on somewhere.

now im stuck using an old ms keyboard in the keyboard plug in, in the back of the computer, and a wired logitech mx310 mouse..

can anyone tell me how to fix the USB problem so I can go back to using my wireless mouse and my g110 keyboard??

When I purchased the laptop it cames with Windows 8.1. I upgraded to an SSD myself and put Windows 8.1 back on and almost immediately upgraded to Windows 10. Sadly, I do not remember if the backlit keyboard worked on 8.1 with the SSD. I assume I am missing some driver or something simple like that but I have had my laptop identified on the HP site and installed all the drivers for it. If I recall correctly pressing F5 should do the trick but it does not. Just an FYI, when I hit caps lock and the mute button it lights up orange as it should.

My keyboard no longer works on my 8460p. I'm able to use a usb keyboard and the onscreen keyboard but the onboard keyboard no longer works. My HP motherboard died about two weeks after I got it and HP had it for a month and I just got it back. It would not power up and now it powers up but now the keyboard does not work. I really do not want to send it back in, I want to see if I can fix it myself before sending it back in. I'm wondering if maybe they did not connect something back or something came aloose during shipping. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have had my X230 for a couple of months and I am impressed with it. However I have noticed that the plastic lip that forms part of the palm rest has a high degree of flex around the area bottom of the trackpad and on occasion seems to get caught when I press don on the trackpad. I don?t have it with me at the moment, so I?ve highlighted where the problem is on one of the Lenovo stock images of the model: The place where I work has an older X220 and there is no flex at the same postion on that model. Is this an issue? Any comments would be appracated. Regards, Dan

Answer:X230 - plastic flex around bottom edge of trackpad

Strange coincidence. I've removed my palm rest for a CRU repair so I'm familiar with how it attaches. I took a look at mine to see how much flex it has without the problem, and to my surprise I had the problem, too! In my case (and hopefully yours) a few of the "keepers" on the palm rest came loose.

This link will show the parts I'm referring to:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?DocID=PD024282

My palm rest (20) had a gap between it and the base cover assembly (10) at the track pad (pic). On the underside of the palm rest there is a metal frame around the trackpad. This metal frame has tabs on the front that fit into slots in the plastic palm rest. Somehow the thin plastic of the palm rest had pulled out far enough so the tabs came out of the slots and then shifted up so the palm rest slots were sitting on top of the tabs. Hopefully the pics will help this make sense. One pic shows the tabs out of the slots and the other shows the tabs in the slots.

Once the tabs were back in the slots and the palm rest was secured to the base cover assembly, there is no gap or give to the palm rest at all. The keyboard attaches with two screws and the palm rest attaches with five. Instructions are in the hardware maintenance manual and it's easy. I hope your problem and resolution turns out to be as simple as mine!

I have a MS Natural Ergonomic 4000 Keyboard. It has been working fine for...well, two years? Sometime ago I performed a Windows Update and the keyboard stopped working. Reinstalled the MS Keyboard & Mouse Center and it worked fine. This weekend I rebooted my computer (Windows Updates again), came into work Monday and the keyboard stopped working. Reinstalling MS Keyboard & Mouse Center doesn't make a difference.

-Windows 7 detects when I plug in the keyboard, even the model model (picture and all), but the PnP interface can not find the driver. (Still doesn't work when I install it via MS Keyboard & Mouse Center, even though the program installs fine).
-I have gone in and removed ALL USB devices, rebooted, and the keyboard works UNTIL the Windows 7 PnP starts detecting hardware. Then it breaks the keyboard again.
-This keyboard works on another Windows 7 computer, as well as a Linux computer.
-The keyboard is getting power
-The keyboard works at bootup (F8, Bios, etc)
-Plugging in a standard keyboard (Dell) works fine.
-Restoring to an earlier restore point hasn't helped.

Any thoughts? Is there anyway to find just that specific keyboard driver, without installing the MS Center (which obviously doesn't work?) Any help would be greatly appreciated, my hands don't work well on standard keyboards (they literally hurt), so I'm really hoping to get an ergo keyboard working again.

Jon

Answer:MS Natural Ergo Keyboard 4000 No longer working

I suggest uninstalling ALL keyboard software, clean up any remnants, and then go into Device Manager and expanding the Keyboard selection > right click on the keyboard > properties > Drivers Tab > Uninstall.
The keyboard should then be uninstalled fron Device Manager, but if it isn't, right click on the keyboard listed under Keyboards > and Uninstall.

Then restart the computer. Windows should load a generic keyboard driver (providing it does not find any of that old software/driver stuff) and you should have all normal keyboard functionality.

If that does not work you may need to do some more aggressive removal (registry editing) if you can't locate an un-installation program for that original package.

I have the Thinkpad E325 and typically one month after my warranty expires (which I forgo to upgrade) my arrow keys stop working. They don't scroll through text, pages, browsers etc. I have switched on and off ScrollLock using Fn+C and that doesn't fix the problem.Compared to the other keys they feel a little looser/not as springy but it is weird that they all stopped working at the same time rather than just one or two. And the Page Up/Page Down buttons still work fine and they are right alongside.Any ideas on the problem? And ideally a solution. Thanks,Cole

Answer:Keyboard Arrow Keys no longer working - Thinkpad E325

Hi, fourjandals

What operating system are you running? Also, let's confirm to see if your computer is recognizing the input of the keys on a hardware level. When you first turn on your computer, hit Enter at the screen that says Lenovo. This should bring up a menu. Hit F1 to go into the BIOS. Are you arrow keys functioning here at all? Once the test is complete, hit Esc to exit the BIOS and your machine should boot normally.

Best of luck; let me know how it goes
Adam

After (1st) upgrading my T510 (43147NU) to Windows 10, (2nd) I was was on an open signal and incurred a viscous malware attack, but thoroughly cleaned the drive.  (3rd) The connector on the MoBo which ties in the keyboard bezel had become useless and I bought a used MoBo (4314DEU -  bigger heatsink, slightly better CPU).  I now have some issues such as the fingerprint reader doesn't work (doesn't show in the control panel and the software to register the fingerprints states "Can?t communicate with the sensor. Please confirm sensor is ready? and no green light on the reader.   Also, Trackpoint no longer functions and the keyboard light at the top of the cover no longer lights. So, my dilema is 1) do I have files damaged by the plethora of viruses I ?had? or issues from the upgrade to Windows 10, or is it something related to the board. I have some limited testing ability for the MoBo and so far it passes everything.  I would really appreciate some thoughtful help and direction as to how to troubleshoot these issues toward a resolution of them. Thanks, Rick

Hi all. I did something yesterday after pressing a lot of keys by mistake which resulted in this problem. I have the keypad and the trackpoint active, but the left and right buttons are not responding both the buttom and upper ones. Tapping also doesn't work. The middle one used with the trackpoint is working fine though. The trackpoint and touchpad are okay too. There is a strange thing happening also. When I disable the trackpad, the trackpoint and it's buttons work correctly as if everything is normal. When I disable the trackpoint  but not the trackpoint, I got nothing working. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Is this a driver issue because I haven't done any updates lately... the only thing that happened is that random key presses... Thanks.

I want to remove the monitor, basically gut it, and turn the keyboard and trackpad of my laptop into a keyboard with built-in mouse for my desktop. It's an old laptop that I was thinking about throwing away anyway, so I might as well turn it into something useful.

look at attachment.

I want be able to connect that to my desktop with USB and be able to use it as both keyboard and mouse (have both the keyboard and trackpad work)

My desktop is right next to my bed, so I sometimes swing the monitor around and put the keyboard and mouse on the bed. But it's damn hard to use a mouse when you have bedsheets and blankets and other stuff that's soft as a surface.

Also, I can't have any compatibility problems, it needs to work with all 3 systems in my house that I may want to connect it to. Mac OS, Windows XP/Vista, and Linux (Ubuntu and Fedora)

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 2 14 which came with a British keyboard but I noticed you can take off the keyboard and swap it out for another one - you can find backlit versions, or a version with a different layout. I got a keyboard for it with Japanese hiragana on it, but the laptop doesn't seem to recognise any of the extra keys this keyboard comes with which have key codes not used by other languages. These keys include: | -? \ ??????the ????, ???? and ???? toggleI would have assumed this was to do with the fact that these are keys from a 106/109 key layout as opposed to the standard 102 key, so I replaced the keyboard driver with Microsoft's 106/109 key keyboard driver, but that hasn't had any effect - it still can't see these keys being pressed. The ??/?? ?? key works because it uses the same key code as the tilde on other keyboards, but that's all. My hypothesis for why this might not be possible to fix is that the ribbon connection between the keyboard and the motherboard could only support 102-key layouts in Europe, and therefore the only way to be able to use these extra input conversion keys without a different motherboard altogether would be to use an external USB keyboard. I may have just made up what I said about the motherboard though, so does anyone know if there's a driver I can use to solve this problem and be able to use the extra keys? I can't just use a key mapper like KeyTweak ... As the subject says, the LED backlighting on the screen no longer lights up. The computer functions normally aside from that. I am forced to use an external monitor. Ive read there may be a BIOS update, but I do not run Windows. I am currently running Ubuntu. Is there a BIOS I can use that doesn't involve using Windows? Are there known issues with the VGA cable being severed or shorted out internally? I've already ordered a new VGA cable in case I have to replace it, however I'd rather not go through the trouble of replacing the cable if there is no need.

Welcome to the Forums.

I haven't seen anyone reported any issue about the keyboard being mushy when being pressed but there were reports about the keyboard suddenly not working from the thread below:

Flex 2 15 Keyboard problems

Although the keyboard being disabled is a normal feature on this machine while on tent mode, I don't think this will cause a problem in the wrong run (unless you feel uncomfortable with the mushy feeling while typing)

just to rule it out, you may wish to pull the palmrest and check the fpr connector to assure it is securely attached. if you don't have it already, te hardware maintenance manual should help with the process:

if that doesn't help, and since your machine is so new, i would recommend contacting Service to discuss your options.

I have an unusual issue with my Y50. If I have one key pressed (such as W/A/S/D) pressed, the trackpack no longer works.  This makes it totally useless for gaming as a gaming laptop..  If I depress a second key (such as shift to run), the trackpad suddenly functions once again. Is there some setting I can set or additional software needed so one key + trackpack will work together for gaming? Thanks!

Right now, when I turn my spectre sideways (purely for laying down and surfing), the screen rotates and the keyboard and trackpad are disabled. I know how to disable the screen rotation, but I can't find a way to enable the keyboard and trackpad. Is it possible to remove the software that binds rotation to all these features?

My brand W520 just arrive literally 30 minutes ago. This first thing I noticed while setting up my new system is that the trackpad freezes. It usually happens when I'm open or closing a window or click somewhere on the screen.  I've rebooted twice and it's still happen. I believe this my be a software issue as I'm planning to wipe the preloaded OS with a clean Win7 install. The second issue is my right arrow key. Everytime I press down on the key it seems to be hitting the side edge of the system. It looks like the key is not aligned properly.  I'm kind of upset since this laptop is less than an hour hold in my hands.  Anyone else have the same issue? I'm frustruated that I spend a boat load on this system and before I can even use it there are noticable issues with it.

Answer:Keyboard and Trackpad issues

Does the mouse issue happen with the TrackPoint as well?Does turning off the filters in Smart Check Settings in the UltraNav control panel help?Is the arrow key and/or keyboard tray noticeably misaligned?

Hi everyone, I have heard rumors, that the "Chinese engeneers are working on the resurrection of the classic trackpad (and the classic keyboard)" - these rumors come from IBM (talking about "fully retro" model) and a Lenovo distributor (mentioning the classic TrackPad), respectively. The classic TrackPad with independent buttons has been actually recently re-used in some of the new Lenovo (non-professional) laptops. Does anyone know - ideally some Lenovo INSIDERs -, when this could happen for our pleasure? I would likely be buying one TP for the coming Christmas.  Thanks for your answers in advance! All the best

Answer:Classic TRACKPAD and KEYBOARD

I dont know anything about a resurrection of a "classic" keyboard, and I am a Lenovo Insider. I doubt it though. For the "classic" TrackPad with independent buttons, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0BlRjcgcN8&feature=youtu.be&t=22m54shttp://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/tablets/thinkpad/thinkpad-helix-2nd-gen/

hi all. my aunt was trying to install a wireless mouse and clicked cancel during the install and now the trackpad and keyboard dont work. i have tried to start it in all of the safe modes and the keyboard works on the bios screen but as soon as windows starts in safe mode or otherwise the keyboard and trackpad stop working. i have tried plugging a wired mouse and keyboard in and the same thing happens.

Answer:keyboard and trackpad stopped

Some Notebooks have a key combination [Fn + one of the F keys] to disable the Touchpad and some like my wife's Toshiba have a switch to do it. None I've ever seen can have the keyboard disabled. Might pull the power cord out, remove the battery, let set for a few minutes then try again.

Whenever i try to use the trackpad when I am playing games and suchlike the trackpad is disabled, i have already changed the palm detection sensitivity to zero, modified the regedit keys assosiated with the device in question and changed the settings in windows itself, and it is still not working, I am running out of ideas and this is driving me crazy, for clarification it is the eLantech trackpad, with upto date drivers, it is a brand new laptop that I have only had since friday, any help you can give will be appreaciated.

Answer:Trackpad issues when using keyboard

Hi Ieuanw,

Welcome to the Forums.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with the touchpad in your Lenovo laptop.

Uninstall the touchpad driver and check only with the generic driver, also boot the system into safe mode and check for the issue.

Anytime I press a button on my keyboard I can't use my mouse for 2 seconds. After the 2 seconds, I can use my mouse. Problem is I can't play games that require me to hold a button down and use the mouse. I don't have this problem when using a USB mouse, only when using the trackpad. I have a Lenovo ideapad y550 running on vista.

Answer:Can't use keyboard and trackpad same time

Reinstall the drivers for the touchpad. Might also want to check the settings within windows for the touchpad.

I recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.

Would anyone please share the solution to this?

Answer:Replaced wired keyboard with Bluetooth keyboard. PC no longer sleeps..

Well, you can load Device Manager (search for device to see link) and then right-click the keyboard and select Properties. Click the Power Management tab and uncheck the box "Allow this device to wake the computer". This should fix the problem.

Hello, i work in a school and the majority of our students use the Yoga 11e laptops. Recently we have recieved a few with keyboards and trackpads that seem to be disabled. My guess is that the laptop is stuck in some sort of "tablet" mode that triggers when the screen is flipped fully back.  Any help with this issue would be very much appreciated, thanks!

Answer:Yoga 11e disabling trackpad and keyboard

Hi JamesOasis.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of the machines? Are you using Windows 10 ?

Let me share some ideas.....

Tablet mode on Windows 10 does not disable the trackpoing or the keyboard, if the computer is on Laptop layout. (not bended)

Let's try to see first if it is a configuration or software issues.
Check out the "Control Panel - Mouse" and see the "Thinkpad" tab. See if the trackpoint is disabled, just in case.

After that I will check the Mouse driver.
Check the support site for the Yoga 11e:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
- Search for the mouse drivers, and just in case install the latest version.

If that does not work, I would get into a firmware and driver update rampage
Check out any BIOS update for the computer and be sure to use Windows update to be on the latest level. Check some other drivers on the Lenovo support site that may need to be updated.

This are only some ideas... let us know if you have any progress.

Regards

HI,I see many have problems with the Idea Y580 Win 7 64 bit trackpad:1. some times it freezes for 20-30 seconds (i can still use the arrow to scroll, but the trackpad click and cursor move is frozen).2. some times (pretty often)  if I do left click the context menu for the right click shws up3. many times the right click doesn't work at all. it's doing left click.4. some time even the keyboard works pretty stange: if i type at a regular speed, some keystrokes are igored, as you can see in this line (at least 2 missing letters - stRange and igNored)I need to mentioned that I've tried everything i found on this forums - suggestions from Lenovo guys. Nothing seems to work:- BIOS upgdate (downoaded the kit 5dcn40ww.exe which was released on Jan 6th 2013 version 40). Even if the kit is newer than my laptop (purcahsed in November 2012), the setup says that "The version of the ROM file isn't newer than version of bios". Lenovo is kidding with this message.- Touchpad drivers (Synaptics_v16_3_8_8_C_XP32_Vista32_Win7-32_XP64_Vista64_Win7-64_Acme_Inc.zip) - latest from Synaptics- Turned off "Touchpad activation gesture".- tried batery only / plugged- cleanned up the pad with synthetic clothDefietly this laptop has an issue Lenovo doesn't want to admit.Does anyone had this problem fixed any way?I tried to submmit a support ticket from my account the site is down or link is broken.Any help is really appreciated. This touchpad is driving me nuts. Thanks a lot.

Just installed my new T460s and after windows update the keyboard or trackpad won't react. I've got two machines with the same issue. The buttons on top of the keyboard work, such as volum up/down, screen contrast etc. Keyboard is also working perfectly fine in bios/boot menu. External mouse is working but not with external keyboard. Both machines runs on Win 10 Pro. Any suggestions?

Now finally my 16 GB ram came and I had to open up the keyboard. The only problem was along with the keyboard came out the left Ctrl key and the right button for the track pad. Now the the right button would not go in and what more there are two small locks on top of it and one of the small plastic has fallen off . Is there a way to replace it ? I eventually manage to place the button with one lock but I think it's loose and might come off.  Also I'm unable to put back the Ctrl key. I put the ky on top and press it evenly, it should do it for other laptop. How do you put they key back on keyboard for W520 ?

Answer:w520 keyboard and trackpad right button

I removed the Fn key and it went back in nicely by just pressing it. The Ctrl key won't go back it's loose :'( ..will the warranty cover keyboard replacement ?  What an irony, my first really expensive machine and here I'm 1 month after purchase, with keyboard gone, faulty mic and sound driver, throttling issues and what not. I wish I had only known some of these before the purchase.

Dell Inspiron 510M 1.25Gb running XP Home - have been around PCs since early 80s so generally know my way around. I think problem is more a Windows app software installation breakage.

Issue is that after recent reboot, I have no built-in keyboard or trackpad. An external USB mouse works fine but external USB keyboard does not. "Device Manager" shows yellow exclamation mark. (Computing with a mouse and the on-screen mouse-enabled keyboard is a tad slow !)

This has happened once before & despite valiant attempts, the only thing that worked was a restore to (after 2 attempts) the earliest restore point still available. I had tried reinstalling drivers and a repair install but neither worked.

Due to my probably poor habit of ignoring those app software requests to reboot after an update/install, combined with my long periods between reboots (I use hibernate), I suspect that there was a line of apps with "run once on reboot" instructions to perform. And this time, the earliest restore point is after my last good reboot so restore did not save me this time. Partly as I have been hammering the laptop heavily recently.

Device manager shows the following for "keyboard" and "trackpad" : "A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"

This seems to suggest that maybe some other software has installed a filter (or something) to capture these devices. I sus... Read more

I've just bought myself one of those amazingly priced economy Windows 8.1 8 inch tablets from a Chinese manufacturer. I'm quite pleased with it apart from the fact I find using the desktop more than a little fiddley due to the size of the screen. The question I want to throw out to everyone is, does anybody know of an 8 inch Bluetooth v4.0 keyboard with a trackpad for the cursor?

Answer:8 inch bluetooth keyboard with trackpad?

I highly doubt those exist.
I have a 7-8" tablet keyboard for mine and its pretty dinky, and there's little space for a trackpad.
now if there's a pointing stick and buttons, I'd like to see that actually.
but I haven't seen any to date

Hi, Do you also use a mouse ? If not, you can use arrows on the keyboard and that is a very slow task. Regards.
