Question: lenovo flex 2 14 touchpad showing im touching it

My lenovo flex 2 14 touchpad is saying tham I have 4 fingers on the touch pad (which is evidently effecting it as i cant use it what so ever), when I dont. This occured out of no where, and no software, or system changes have occured to cause this issue, and I haven't the slightest cluse as to what caused it, furthermore when I touch the touch pad on the top left corner, it goes down to 2 or 3 fingers. im on windows 8.1. any advice or fixes would be appriciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, Recently, my ideapad z400 shows weird behaviors between the touchpad and the screen. Sometimes (not always), any motions that involve two fingers , like touching two points on the touchpad, or press the right mouse while hovering other finger on the touch area, the screen will goes off for around 1-2 second. I am not sure if my installing of Sticky Notes software causing such problems, since when I move the mouse like this, I see its figure is transformed in to a tiny scrollbar(!!!) Right now, the problem is not persistent, and my solution is to restart the laptop, or system restore. Do you have any ideas of fixing it? Thanks.

Answer:lenovo ideapad z400 screen turns off temporarily by touching the touchpad with 2 fingers

?I bought a laptop, Lenovo flex -1570 from US through amazon.com, for my father's birthday present. Thanks for ruining it in a way that I could have never imagined. In just 2 days of laptop usage, the mouse pad has come out. The amazing service center in India (ticket no. HT014716010) said that the glue that held mousepad to the laptop "WASN'T STICKY ENOUGH" and added that they do not support this laptop as its "international warranty" is limited to US and China and I need to take it to your US service center to fix it. $619 laptop, 2 days, and it is nothing more than a junk box to me. As a birthday present I have gifted my father nothing more than added tension and thanks to you guys for making that happen. Attaching a pic for your reference. ?

Hello Lenovo team,I desperately need your help. I bought my Lenovo flex 2 in April 2015. Till today the screen looked perfect. But suddenly it today afternoon the screeen started showing transparent background. If I opened multiple tabs and one of the tabs has a dark font, then the other tabs are showing transparent screen and I could see the dark font tab contents in the background! This is really bothering me. Please note that nothing strange happened while I was handling my laptop (as some of us may think that I might have mistakenly dropped the laptop or something would have hit the laptop screen etc). I am on Windows 10. I suspected the Intel HD drivers as the issue and tried updating the drivers as well. However the problem still exists. What is weird is that the transparent screen still shows up even after I shut down and restart my laptop. For example: I updated my video driver from the Device manager and shut down my computer assuming the problem would go away. But when I restarted my laptop, I could see the login screen with the device manager screen in the background!!!!! Please advise ASAP Regards,Pankaj

First of all, in spite of the timing of this post (posting the same day that the update is becoming available for most people), this isn't Windows 10.1/115 (I forget the update's nickname) related (this computer hasn't updated yet). A few days ago, the trackpad stopped working. (It worked fine for about 3 months with Windows 10, and roughly a year with Windows 8.1)

I tried the device manager "uninstall device" thing, which often works. In this case, however, detect hardware did not detect the trackpad after uninstalling.
I've tried all drivers I can find, including the latest driver per Lenovo's website (plus the one Windows update installs, ironically newer than Lenovo's website
I've tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't lead to any success after reinstalling later
The device does list itself in the trackpad/mouse properties panel in the systray, I don't know if that means it's being detected somewhere, or if it's because the driver is installed. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249
In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."
On this device, the F6 key is the one that activates/deactivates the trackpad normally, but nothing happens, no feedback, and no magical fix. For comp... Read more

Hi, I hope you're doing well. I recently upgraded my Lenovo Flex 2 (15 inch) notebook from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After upgrading, the right click button on my touchpad stopped working. Suspecting a driver issue, I uninstalled the driver to allow the default Windows driver to take over. The right-click button started to work again, so it's not a hardware problem. However, the touchpad, in general, became erratic and difficult to use. I then downloaded the latest Lenovo Flex 2 touchpad driver for Windows 10. However, the touchpad returned to the way it was after the upgrade and the right-click button does not work. Please help me with this. I need my laptop to function properly during my travels. Kind regards, Ash

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 - Upgrading to Windows 10 Disables Right-Click Button on Touchpad

Since nobody in the Lenovo community answered this, and Customer Support refuses to provide support for their own drivers (without charging you $70 for Premium Support), I will post the solution that I found on my own, so that other innocent customers can be helped. Uninstall the touchpad driver from Programs & Features, then download Windows 8.1 version of the touchpad driver (Bay) from the Lenovo Flex 2 drivers page. Install it and it will work perfectly on Windows 10 (unlike the Windows 10 driver). Enjoy. Ash

I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... (Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 : Netbook : Windows 7 Starter)  Just got it & salesman at Fry's Electronics showed me how to eliminate the action on the Touchpad where touching the pad is like clicking the left button. I'm sure it was under the Control Panel, but now I'm home, I can't find any function to control the Touchpad except for just simply turning it off/on totally.  That's nice if I want to use a mouse, but for a lot of time I intend to use the Touchpad, but I don't like touching being the same as clicking & I don't like the high level of sensitivity of the touchpad. That almost seems like if you're CLOSE to the pad it detects your finger and does what ever.

When using the touchpad on my new laptop the right click works fine when I am not moving the cursor
however when I have one finger on the touchpad such as my index finger and try to press the right button with my thumb it only ever registers as a left click.

This seems like an intentional function so I hope one of you has a simple solution.

Answer:Satellite P850-02C - right click is not working while touching touchpad

Hi

I think you will need to disable the option called Momentum.
This can be done in the Synaptics touchpad settings (control panel -> mouse -> Synaptics tab -> Settings button)

Expand the option called ?Pointing? and remove the mark from ?Momentum? point.

It's intermittent, but I seem to be able to create a current through my fingers from the two buttons at the front of the touchpad.

Current plug configuration is like this:
- 4 way splitter, including plugged in laptop and plugged in external hard drive
- IF the hard drive is plugged in but NOT connected to laptop with the USB cable, touching the touchpad buttons and the metal casing of the external hard drive creates a circuit.
- This circuit can be bypassed by connecting the USB cable to the laptop.
- This circuit can be recreated by unplgging the laptop from the mains.

The sensation of the electric circuit is a buzzing tingling through my fingertips at the point of contact with the touchpad buttons.
By running my fingers along the buttons, the circuit can be felt stronger.

Why does this occur? How are the touchpad buttons connected to the power source?
How can I get this repaired?

T.Smith

Answer:Satellite A500-1GM electric circuit touching touchpad and USB case

Hi

I think this happens because of earthing.
[Wikipedia Ground (electricity)|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_(electricity)]

If the external HDD is not connected to the notebook via USB cable then there is no conduction and grounding. The same happens when the AC adaptor would be disconnected.

I think the insulation of your HDD is not good and I would recommend contacting the dealer or the HDD support team.

I'm having a very serious problem where the touchpad is no longer usable (this laptop is only 1.5 years old!) because any slight touch of it causes the laptop to instantly fall asleep - screen goes black, lights go out on keypad, have to wake it up again pressing enter or power button.  I have never seen anything like this in my life and it started suddenly today.  I now have no choice but to use an external mouse.
Rebooted multiple times - it did nothing. Tried updating driver uselessly in device manager, of course it says it's current.  Tried disabling the touchpad driver and installing Synaptic driver instead, installation fails. Tried finding another or newer driver to install from Dell - put in my serial number on Dell website and it returns a list of drivers with precisely ZERO of them being for a touchpad - so there is nothing. I can't even tell if this is a physical problem or a driver problem.  It seems way too weird to be purely physical.
Any help Dell? I'm not counting on it.

hi bottymilk,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try going under Control Panel / Programs and Features / Uninstall a program

Try looking for either Synaptics, Eigistech or Elan software and Uninstall it.

This controls the Touchpad features.

Try the touchpad again after uninstallation.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Question: flex 3 touchpad

I am new to Lenovo Community, and to Lenovo products. I just bought my first Lenovo laptop Flex 3, 11'', with Windows 10. My first experience using it is not positive, and the most frustrating part is the touchpad. It seems to have a life of its own. For example, very often when I scroll it suddenly starts to change the font sizes (it starts to zoom in or to zoom out, making letters either too big or to small to read). At other times it suddenly becomes "frozen", that is, completely unresponsive to my moves. Not only I cannot scroll the page I'm working on, but I cannot even get out of it.I wonder if there's something wrong with my particular laptop, or if Flex 3 has issues with touchpad in general?Thank you to anyone who cares to answer my question.

Hi all, I primarily use a mouse while on my Flex 3, and have to turn off the touchpad every time I power on my PC. How can I turn it off and make it stay off? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently updated to the latest November update and afterwards installed Office 2016. Ever since the touchpad has been behaving funny. It clicks on icons u don't wanna open, launch program unexpectedly, if u wanna click on something it jumps and dances here and there. Its really infuriating particularly if u need to get things done urgently. I uninstalled the ALPS Touchpad and seemed to work for about 2 days and trouble started again. It has even become worse after the PC automatically downloaded and installed the ALPS Touchpad again. Please I need your help thank you.

I've been using my brand new Lenovo Flex 3 1470 for a couple of months and everything was running smoothly, i was ver happy with it.I decieded to extend the antivirus coverage for a year (i had a warning of license expiracy for a couple of weeks) and after that, and all of a sudden, my TouchPad stopped working.I'm using Windows 10.PS: I live in Argentina, so no matter how hard I try, Online Support and Phone Support won't give me any possible solution other that flying back to US (where i got my computer) and have it replaced there. (that won't happen). I really need some help trying to fix this by myself. I re-installed ELAN drivers dozens of time with no success.Help me, please!ThxFranco

This is a new laptop.  It seems very sensitive, sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't.  Is this a common problem?  I'm trying to be careful to only touch the left side of the touchpad. Any ideas?

I have a new Flex 4 1470 Flex pad; a number of problems with it, but the biggest is that I cannot disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged into USB port. Note, I have already tried the following: -the F6 key does not disable touchpad, as manual says it should;-checking "disable when mouse connected" in control panel does nothing;-uninstalling ELAN touchpad driver w/o deleting driver does nothing;-uninstalling ELAN touchpad driver AND deleting driver does nothing; I get message to reboot computer, and I do that, but the driver refuses to be deleted; its always there again;-I've updated ELAN driver so that it is most current available, per Lenovo and Elan sites. Other oddities, like the windows screen saver/timeout feature does not work, either.

Hello I have recently purchased a Flex 15 with the Elan touchpad. I have noticed that I do not have an option to two finger tap for a right click. The settings for the Elan Touchpad provide me a way to two finger click (where i physically click the touchpad) but not for the 2 finger tap. This seems like a weird oversight since that functionality is so very common now for all laptops. Does anyone else have this issue? is there a way to get this functionality back?

Answer:Flex 15 with Elan touchpad two finger tap

I've got the same problem. The ALPS driver that takes care of the settings even include this feature, but it doesn't work.

I have a Flex 3 laptop computer running Windows 10.  I have the ELAN Touchpad driver configured so that tapping is disabled, and the driver icon is visible in the taskbar. Quite frequently, the tourchpad reverts to its default settings and the driver icon disappears from the task bar.  If I go into settings and open the mouse / touchpad settings, everything starts working again (with out me changing any of the settings). This is driving me CRAZY.  How can I stop this from happening?

Hi lenovo friends, I recently bought a Flex 2 14 (not sure if D) (59423165). Firstly, can anyone link me to the correct drivers page for W8.1x64? Thank you! Here are my questions: 1) Is there middle-click functionality for the touchpad? I cannot seem to find a way to middle-click. Does anyone know of third-party programs that will restore this functionality if the Flex 2 14 doesn't already come with it? 2) I am not achieving USB 3 speeds on the USB 3 port. I have a USB 3 flash drive that works perfectly on my desktop (achieving up to 120 MB/s), but I only achieve 30 MB/s on the Flex 2 14's USB 3 port. I am guessing that I do not have the driver installed. Can anyone help me find the correct drive? Thanks in advance, Chris

I've been using conservation mode for my new (1 month) lenovo laptop every time I put the AC adapter in it. I thought that this was going to help me endure my battery life, but in the end I've stacked with the fact, that battery's stamina went much more lower. For example, I could use my laptop in a battery economy mode/conservation turned off for 5-6 hours, now it barely lasts 3 hrs with the same settings and the same pattern of usage. Just for record, 21 minute of watching a film costs my battery from 10-20% now, while before it was not an issue at all, I hardly can tell that it drained me more than 5%. Also, right now, while typing this, I've noticed, that behaviour of my percentage bar is also really strange: first it shows 75%, then, after 5 minutes, it showes 73%, without getting through 74%. And as a one big plus to that, my battery status says that my battery is normal, just normal, while before it was great or something like that. I find it strange because it is 1 month old notebook, as I mentioned earlyer. Now I am trying to recalibrate my battery, for the 3d time, hoping it would help me, but I really wish to hear your opinion about that, maybe there is something that I don't know about, something that can help me. P.S. It is 70% now, gezus

Hello! I'm experiencing a somewhat common-sounding problem with my touch screen.  It's not listing under Pen and Touch on the System Information page of Control Panel, but I can locate it in Device Manager under Mice and Other Pointing Devices>USB Touchscreen Controller(A111).  I can use it like a mouse but it doesn't work like a touch screen.  I'm not quite savvy enough to uninstall the drivers in Device Manager and hope for the best - I feel like I'm going to wreck something by accident.  Any advice?

After updating to Windows 10 I started experiencing touchpad delay for about a second after I press any keyboard key. When I downgraded my drivers it started working prefectly with no delay, but I was unable to use 3 finger gestures introduced with Windows 10 and also there were no 3 finger swipe to go backwards that I was using in Windows 8.1.I thought that maybe this is caused by palm tracking feature, but when I set it to minimum the problem was still there. Also I tried installing and uninstalling drivers and touchpad from device manager. Also changed "delay after type" in Windows setting to never. None of the above helped. I'm sure that my touchpad detects all the touches and it's not a hardware issue, cause when I open notification tray and make a tap with three fingers I see three dots appear on elan settings icon.P.S. The strangest thing is that when I start typing in search box then make a pause and start typing again it works without any delay and I can type and use my touchpad at the same time. Cortana is the only program where I could make it work so far.

Without any particular event (Windows 10, Ideapad Flex 14), these things happend

touchpad cursor control stopped working, but cursor works fine with USB mouse
Synaptics control 'Accessories' work fine : Presssure Graph and Mood Pad
graphical volume control appeared in upper right
volume is constantly driven to zero ... cannot get sound without constantly clicking on volume level, or hitting Volume up key (F3)
Volume down (F2) and Sound toggle (F1) now do nothing

I can hold down Volume up (F3) and get volume to work, but it must be held down continuously to hear anything played on the speakers.

it looks like some event from either Volume down or Sound toggle is running continuously, and those events prevent the touchpad cursor control from working.

The laptop is barely functional in this condition .. must have USB mouse connected, and playback of any sound

I have sprayed clean dry air around the keys .. it seems unlikely that any debris is stuck in the key, but it almost seems like one of the two keys (volume down or less likely sound toggle) is being continuously pressed.

I would be quite happy to have the key disabled through software .. I havae never used it.

Any help would be so generous from the community, and so gratefully appreciated!

Hi, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my Flex 15 and am finding that my Synaptics touchpad crashes randomly. Specifically, I'm going about doing my thing when I see a brief "spinny wheel" for the mouse pointer, and then suddenly cant scroll using two-fingered touch as normal on the touchpad. The pointer often (but doesn't always) still appear and the touch pad can still move the mouse and single-click only, but none of the special  actions (like two fingered scrolling) can be performed. I also notice that the "Lenovo Pointing Device" icon which normally displays in the notification area in the lower righthand corner disappears when this happens. I'm specifically using Lenovo Pointing Device v 19.0.9.5.29May15. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

I'm running a Flex-3 with Windows 10.  Have not made any recent updates or changes to the system, but integrated keyboard and touchpad have stopped responding.  USB keyboard and bluetooth mouse work normally. I'm simply trying to confirm if it is a hardware (motherboard) issue since that seems to be the most likely, but Troubleshooting and the Lenovo Solution Center scans indicate no issues.  I updated keyboard driver to no effect. One strange result, if I disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices and reboot, the Touchpad will again respond.  Keyboard will not.  As soon as I activate Bluetooth mouse, touchpad stops working. Thank you in advance.

My friend just received a Flex 2 14 less than a week ago and its touchpad is detaching from the wrist rest and curling at the corners.  Has anyone else experienced this with the Flex 2?

My friend has contacted Lenovo tech support, but the options are not appealing.  A replacement would take weeks and would require re-installing and configuring the software again.  Also, I think the current unit would have to be sent back first, so she would be without a laptop during that time.

If anyone has experience with Lenovo repairs and/or replacements, we would appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks

Restarting ddi not help. The only thing I put my attention that time was the battery is almost discharged, so I turned the notebook off, closed the lid, and plugged it in. The next day I turned it on, and everything was working.  Another idea on why it happened: when the notebook lid opens and closes, it might switch to tablet mode, so that the keyboad and touchpad are off.

Right, you mentioned it turned blue with a sad face, that is a Blue Screen of Death (or proper term is Kernel bugcheck) which indicates something has gone wrong.

In Windows 8 the option is called SmartSense. Disabling this worked for me.

Press Win+W to bring up Settings Search
Type "synaptic"
Double Click "SmartSense"
Slide the Slider all the way to "Off"
Click "Close" and then "OK"

This will Disable the Anti-Palm detection which prevents simultaneous Keyboard and Mouse use. I recommend you re-enable this feature when you're not gaming as otherwise you risk problems while typing.

Plug in the charger and turn the Flex 10 off and on again, still not on. Tapping the keyboard, touchpad hoping something happens, no. Give it a couple more seconds then it turns on. Lenovo loading sign comes up then goes to blue screen saying "collecting data because there was an error then will restart for you", restarts. "There was an error with loading Windows. Hi,I just received my Lenovo Flex 20 today and i was very dissapointed to find out that wireless display was not supported. I thought it will be compatible as i checked the Graphics card and processor prior of buying it but unfortunately it doesnt have a compatible wireless card. I really need widi for my job as i want to present everything wirelessly on another compatible WIDI TV . I was wondering whether if i buy The INTEL 7260AC wireless card and upgrade the system if i will be able to use widi. Will the system accept this wireless card? And if yes will i then just be able to install WI-DI software and make it functional? I just wanted to add that i already tried another 2 x card (which i took out from my laptop - A Railink card made in 2010 and from an old HP MINI netbook - A Broadcom card) and they had been accepted by the lenovo flex 20. What are your thoughts then? Will INTEL 7260AC be accepted by Lenovo Flex 20? If yes will this be enough to enable widi after installing appropriate software? Thanks for your kind help!

Answer:LENOVO FLEX 20 WI-DI

Hi BLueArMy, welcome to the forum!

I don't know if you can install a Intel 7260AC wireless card in your Flex, however: if you are running Win 8.1 (update 1) you shouldn't need to upgrade the card. Win 8.1 has the ability to use Miracast, to wirelessly connect to your compatible TV.

I have the Lenovo A520, with a Realtek RTL8188CUS Wireless card, and it connects well with my Belkin SreenCast F7D4501 unit. I bought the Belkin ScreenCast to connect, via WiDi, my Y470 with Win 7. After I received the A520, and updated the  Win 8, to Win 8.1, I noticed that I had the "Connect To Another Wireless Device" in the charm bar Devices display. Just make sure you have the WiDi unit (or the setting in your TV) turned on, and the TV input is selected.

It may take you a little tweaking to get it all set up. IIRC on the first setup, my A520 needed to download some Windows updates during the process. After that, all of the remote display settings are under the Intel HD Graphics manager.

Let us all know how it goes.

Cheers

Question: Lenovo Flex 4 1470

I've seen a few times where I have not used my Lenovo for a several minutes it will go into "sleep mode" and I have to hit the power button to open it again. But it is asking me to sign in. I have to turn it off by holding the power button and then turn it back on. And then it will start showing my normal desktop. How can I stop that "sign in" from showing? I never created a password and didn't think I need to do that.
Can anyone help?

In Sign In Options it has "Password.... Your account doesn't have a password. You must add a password before you can use the other sign-in options."
Whatever that means???? I never created a password and don't understand why it is asking me to "Sign In" when I turn in on from the Sleep mode.

My lenovo flex 3 14 is heating up in the hdd area. It gets so hot that it becomes impossible to use the keyboard for typing. I checked the ventilations and everything was fine. The fan worked fine. I used speccy to check the temperatures.Temperatures were near 60 degrees C under normal load. What might be the problem? Will replacing the hdd with a ssd solve this heating issue.?please help...

Answer:Lenovo Flex 3 14 hdd overheating.

Under load, it is common for a system component to reach 60 degrees C, but it is uncommon for the exterior to be so hot that you can't touch it. Try cleaning the internals with compressed air so the fans will have an easier time spinning.

Hi everyone! May I check if Lenovo Flex 2-14 (Model: 20404, Core i7 4510U) support 2TB 2.5" Seagate Firecuda HDD? The z-height is just 7mm so it should fit perfectly. Just that I am not sure if the particular size and model are supported or not. Hope to hear from you guys soon, thanks in advance.

If I plug the charger in the charging/ indicator turns on and the power button is white but still it won't turn on. I've tried letting the battery drain and then plugging it back in but it won't turn on and I've also tried holding down the power button but nothing happens. Someone please help. Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody! I bought a lenovo flex 2 pro and it is a very good product, but I have a little problem that is very annoying. Even if I am surfing with Google Chrome and I open facebook page, the fan start for few seconds. The temperature is 35*(displayed in lenovo settings app). Is there an option to change fan behaviour? I have updated to last bios. Thanks everybody

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 Pro Fan Noise

up: I noticed that the "problem" is that when I open facebook page for example, the temperature raise to 50° and the fan starts. Is there an option to control the fan? Unfortunately there isn't in the bios and SpeedFan can't recognize it

Does anyone have a Lenovo - Flex 4 1470? (Win10/64bit) I bought mine in July 2016 and yesterday when I signed on I got a pop-up from Lenovo telling me about a "critical" Lenovo update. I am pretty sure if was referring to BIOS update = v.0vcn.22ww / 120 MB.
I clicked for it to install and then another pop-up saying something about it (possibly) changing binaries, etc. I didn't know what that was all about and so I cancelled the downlod.
Today I phoned Lenovo and spoke to a woman who said "they" didn't recommend downloading/installing updates to BIOS unless I was having problem with this laptop.
As I asked, does anyone else have a Lenovo Flex 4.1470? If so, did you get this critical update notice and if you did, did you install it?
I am 81 years old and know nothing about these things and wonder if I should just forget about downloading the BIOS update? Or whether it MUST be downloaded for this Lenovo to operate properly.
Thanks for any help.

Hi there,Well, here it goes...i bought a lenovo flex 2-14 last year May for home use. I am the only person using it as my husband got his own. Also i use it very seldom and that too for short hours only. I am person who always prefers being organized.  Last Sunday, i had used my laptop to surf over internet. After finishing with my work, i shut down, closed the lcd pane and left it on the table. Neither me or my husband had touched it after that. I again went to it on last friday, and shocked to see that it was craked from near the camera to the right side of the lcd.. It had not fallen down, not banged against wall, put on power, left heavy object on it, and nothing. I dont want to pay for a product fault. And its stlll within warranty period. I haven't yet contact any service support person. Wll keep updated once, having talked with them.People make advanced technology with defects to earn continuously.

HiI have a Lenovo flex 2 14 with mechanical hard drive. I bought an SSD to switch it but I encountered a problem opening the laptop.I followed the manual here:http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_flex_2_14_flex_2_14d_flex_2_15_flex_2_15d_hmm... I started by removing the keyboard, all went well.then came the part where it said to remove the optical drive, having no optical drive (14 inch don?t have it) I just skipped this part, the next part was taking off the back panel, I took all the screw off and then started peeling the panel off starting at the front. The back side of the panel didn?t seem to go out.Instead of using more pressure I stopped because i realized maybe the 14 inch version has something similar to the optical drive removal that needs to be done before the back panel removal. the manual just list the optical drive removal as a step, without any clarification about the 14 inch version. Anyone has experience with opening up the 14 version and can help?

Answer:Opening lenovo flex 2 14

Hi, I had the same problem, and I had missed one screw under the keyboard that has a lenovo sticker on. Remove the sticker and you'll find the last screw  There are 3 screws in total under the keyboard.

Answer:Lenovo Flex 14 Fn key problem

hi synes55

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

When you press the Power to turn it on start hitting the Fn+F2 and F2 only simultaneously.
It should get you to a bios settings
Go to the Configuration tab and look for the "Hotkey Mode" option Toggle that to Disable the hit F10 or Fn+F10 to save and Exit

It should switch the use of F keys to legacy

Hope this helps
Cheers!

The other day my lenovo flex 2.14 (running on windows 10) went into what I can only assume was sleep mode: the power light was flashing (which the usermanuel says indicates sleep mode). I read somewhere that taking the battery out and holding the power button for 30 seconds would help (something to do with draining charge or something). I couldn't get access ot the battery as I didn't  have any screws so I took the charger out and tried the same thing, put the charge back in and hey presto it seemed to work. - Then the same thing happened again a few days later, but the same solution didn't seem to work. This time I managed to take the back off - but then didn't know where the battery was. I carried on pressing the power button and disconnected any wires that I could see (turns out these were the ones to the wireless card) and reconnected them. At some point the sleep button turned off and wouldn't turn on again, at this point I put the charger back in and the computer started working again. - Then , a few days later, the same thing happened AGAIN, this time I worked out where the battery, but couldn't work out how to disconnect it. While I was fiddling with it trying work out how to do so (I should point out that I never managed to disconnect it) the sleep light turned off and wouldn't turn on again. I plugged the charger in, still nothing would turn on or off, I screwed the battery back in place and HEY it turned on. - I had to travel to London the ... Read more

Hello, I just literally an hour ago purchased my Flex 2-15, and when I came home and tried to put in ANY of my USB mouses, the USB plug simply didn't fit it any USB 2.0 or 3.0 slot. I've looked online, and it seems that it has the average USB slot and nobody had this problem before? Should I return it, or?

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2-15 doesn't take USB

hi HumanLucifer,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Turn off the machine, press the Novo button and select System Recovery.
    - Sample image

2. On the System Recovery menu, plug in the mouse and observe if it's worknig.

If the mouse is working, I recommend you proceed with the factory restore. Otherwise, if the mouse is still not working in the recovery environment then there's likely a problem with the USB port(s) and I recommend you contact lenovo (for service) or the place of purchase (if it's still possible to exchange the unit).
