I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just got an E540 and upon a Windows install, after updating the AHCI driver, the screen glitches out (crazy colors, lines, etc) and the system locks up. After a reboot, during Windows startup, the screen glitches out again and it completely powers off. System restore removes the driver and restores the ability to boot.
I've installed the driver from both Lenovo and a newer one from Intel and get the same result.
Windows has the driver already and I'm not opposed to leaving it the way it is, I'm just really wondering about this issue and would like to eventually update.
This happens on both Windows 7 and Windows 10, by the way.

Thanks in advance!

Can someone from Lenovo confirm if updating the drivers on my Flex 15 from the Windows Device Manager, using the "automagic" (Install the software automatically) search and update facility actually find the lastest drivers for my notebook -  or do I have to search through the Lenovo website for individual updates? Hopefully it's the former, but the device driver info on the Lenovo Support web pages left me a bit confused.   thanks

Answer:Lenovo Flex 15 - Driver updates

The Automagic search in Windows is a WQHL driver to ensure you are not left driverless. It does not connect to Lenovo's servers to check for updates.

I personally go to the different vendor pages to get the latest drivers (Intel, nVidia, Realtek, etc), however, this is not for the average user.

To make it easier, don't worry too much about updating drivers. There's a great philosophy followed by farmers:

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Drivers are like that. Is there a specific driver issue I can help you with?

Hello,I am running W7 64bit with an SSD. I did all the updates but the updates of the Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver for Windows 64bit and Lenovo AutoLock fail. The error message is:"The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accessible. Please select another."There is nothing to select and I don't have an idea what this message means. I searched already for this error message but I couldn?t find something. I am using the ThinkVantage System Update and I tried already the manual update. The manual update produces the same error message. I tried also to install one patch after the other. The installation of the Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver simply says that it cannot be installed, no further reason, no possibility for a manual installation. The installation of the AutoLock patch produces the above error message. Please could someone help me?

Answer:T520 - Update fails for Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver and Lenovo AutoLock

Simlar problem here on a T510 with SSD and German Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit. System Update lists Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver 10.6.0.1002 as optional update but repeated installation attempts fails without explanation. Status simply says "Not installed". Where did you find the errror message? At the same time I tried to update the AHCI driver with System Update, I also tried to update the "ThinkPad Video Features(NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M and NVIDIA NVS 3100M) for Windows 7 64bit" to version 8.17.12.6824. That installation failed as well without an explanation. Now, the new version is not listed anymore in System Update. Version 8.17.12.6721 had been installed in August.

I recently updated to the Windwos 10 Fall Creators update (Build 1709, 16299.125), and as soon as I updated, the graphics driver failed and switched to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I tried updating and rolling back the driver without success. My driver right now is at the latest version (10.18.10.4358). I already tried fixing this issue with Microsoft support but they couldn't find any solutions. Microsoft Support Link: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/intel-hd-graphics-not-working-...

First of all, in spite of the timing of this post (posting the same day that the update is becoming available for most people), this isn't Windows 10.1/115 (I forget the update's nickname) related (this computer hasn't updated yet). A few days ago, the trackpad stopped working. (It worked fine for about 3 months with Windows 10, and roughly a year with Windows 8.1)

I tried the device manager "uninstall device" thing, which often works. In this case, however, detect hardware did not detect the trackpad after uninstalling.
I've tried all drivers I can find, including the latest driver per Lenovo's website (plus the one Windows update installs, ironically newer than Lenovo's website
I've tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't lead to any success after reinstalling later
The device does list itself in the trackpad/mouse properties panel in the systray, I don't know if that means it's being detected somewhere, or if it's because the driver is installed. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249
In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."
On this device, the F6 key is the one that activates/deactivates the trackpad normally, but nothing happens, no feedback, and no magical fix. For comp... Read more

Got this notebook two days ago and tried to use the tablet mode. I realized that the touch screen wasn't working and went to check the device manager only to find out that the HID compliant touch screen driver is missing. While checking, I noticed that Wacom device driver also could not start as well (Code 10). Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I really would like to use the tablet mode of this laptop instead of having to return it due to the touch screen not working.

I am currently using a Lenovo Flex 3 1470 and the keyboard for it stopped working and now I can't type any numbers or activate any function keys. I have spilled tea on my laptop and got it wet in the past so I am now looking to get my keyboard replaced.  I have managed to find some Flex 2 14 inch US keyboards on eBay for less than $20 that look exactly the same as the one on my laptop, but I can't be certain unless someone confirms.  Are the 2 keyboards the same?

Answer:E520 - Intel SATA Controller AHCI Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) driver

I believe the hard drive has failed and that is why it is asking for a driver.  The hard drive is no longer recognized on the SATA connection and the system recovery routine wants a driver to find a hard disk.  The Windows 7 (64-bit) driver is needed because that is what should be installed in the bootable OS partitiion (non visible partition).

I've been using conservation mode for my new (1 month) lenovo laptop every time I put the AC adapter in it. I thought that this was going to help me endure my battery life, but in the end I've stacked with the fact, that battery's stamina went much more lower. For example, I could use my laptop in a battery economy mode/conservation turned off for 5-6 hours, now it barely lasts 3 hrs with the same settings and the same pattern of usage. Just for record, 21 minute of watching a film costs my battery from 10-20% now, while before it was not an issue at all, I hardly can tell that it drained me more than 5%. Also, right now, while typing this, I've noticed, that behaviour of my percentage bar is also really strange: first it shows 75%, then, after 5 minutes, it showes 73%, without getting through 74%. And as a one big plus to that, my battery status says that my battery is normal, just normal, while before it was great or something like that. I find it strange because it is 1 month old notebook, as I mentioned earlyer. Now I am trying to recalibrate my battery, for the 3d time, hoping it would help me, but I really wish to hear your opinion about that, maybe there is something that I don't know about, something that can help me. P.S. It is 70% now, gezus

It asks if I want to send info back to the devs to help with the app but then it freezes and sends me back to the desktop. Is there a fix for this problem? Also, I am unsure how to change my preferences for my trackpad. I go to Control Panel, but there is no option for "Mouse" like I am used to to adjust my touch preferences. Any help on this too?  Thanks guys,Stephen

So my problem is as the title says.. Well it started when I opened my laptop from sleep mode then it was hanging up and then it suddenly turned blue with sad face.. I didn't read the problem clearly but i remember it saying a problem about "kernel_????_????"..

I tried to hard reset my laptop cause it was taking so much time then it ended up stuck on the logo... Now I'm the one with the blue sad face...

Hope you guys can help me as soon as possible., thanks in advance..

Answer:lenovo flex 15 is stuck on lenovo logo

Right, you mentioned it turned blue with a sad face, that is a Blue Screen of Death (or proper term is Kernel bugcheck) which indicates something has gone wrong.
In order to help we'll need the .dmp files.

A user had a virus, and the virus removed critical windows system files, The IT guy working that day used a Dell disk to do a windows repair, needless to say it was going to give us errors. It locks the user out of logging in because it will not operate unless you activate it and all it does is error out and hang up at an empty desktop.Which is what you expect using a Dell Disk on an IBM. So i got a WinXP SP3 OEM disk and I tried to do a repair using it, but it will not find the hard drives due to the Hard Drives running in AHCI mode. I was going to try switching it to SATA mode just to do the repair and then switching it back, but I hear this can corrupt the Drive. Has anyone ever tried this?So I tried using Raid drivers I found on this website, through floppy drive, and windows disk still does not find the Hard Driveshttp://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-64283 I also tried using the F6 and using some other Generic drivers for the Raid system and they are not working either, can someone send me the correct drivers or let me know if changing the BIOS from AHCI to Sata will work as well, for the time being I am going to try and backing up the PC to an image that way if I do try the BIOS switch I will have the data saved.

Answer:Lenovo R60 AHCI Issue

you have to switch the drive to compatibility mode rather than the ACHI mode. ACHI mode is the SATA mode, while the compatibility mode is the BIOS loading a compatible drive for the SATA hdd and window sees as it as a PATA drive.

I recently swapped out my motherboard for a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3. I was trying to overclock my CPU and after a crash and CMOS reset I was no longer able to complete WEI. This was fixed by reinstalling the BIOS firmware but when I ran WEI again, I was now getting a 5.9 score for my SSD (OCZ Agility) when it was previously 7.2.

Now I can no longer get Windows to use the AHCI driver (neither MS nor AMD) for the drive. I am running in AHCI mode but the driver being used for the SSD is a generic "disk drive" (disk.sys and partmgr.sys). When I try to update this driver, it tells me I am using the latest one; it also does not let me manually select the AHCI driver.

After multiple attempts at switching back and forth between IDE and AHCI in the BIOS, uninstalling and reinstalling AMD AHCI drivers, nothing changes. Still the same 5.9 WEI score and generic driver. How can I fix this?

Thanks,
David

Look in the device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, it should say Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller. For your second part of your question, you need at least 2 disk with unallocated areas to make a RAID array. But, saying that I would never setup a software RAID (ie windows) array and the BIOS doesnt support a hardware RAID

Answer:Lenovo Update circling between two different AHCI drivers

Hi K7AAY,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing the issue with Lenovo update utility on your ThinkPad X230.

If the Lenovo update is showing the message to update then you can update it. If you have already installed Intel Rapid Storage AHCI driver for Windows 64 ver. 11.2.0.1006 and after that if it is showing for Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver - 7 (64 bit) ver. 12.8.10.1005 then you can install it, this will over write the current version and there won?t be any issue on that.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi Everyone, Does anybody have solution for changing Chipset SATA Mode from AHCI to RAID?From yesterday I'm trying to find appropriate solution for this issue. I have already checked:1) Changing regiser's key as above/;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci Start 3 -> 0HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorA Start 0HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV Start 0HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci Error Control 3 -> 0 Unfortunately after rebooting in RAID mode, OS doesn't work. 2) Going step by step over the description made by microsoft support team:support.microsoft.com/kb/2751461?wa=wsignin1.0 Doesn't work. My aim is to configure my SSD as a cache drive and as I read - without changing mode into RAID, it wouldn't work.I appreciate your tips. Maybe there is a possibility to set up SSD as cache in AHCI mode?

Try Storage Management driver (AHCI) on THIS download page. But, you must use a floppy disk and a usb floppy disk drive to install. Read instructions carefully. If you do not have them, just stick with Comaptibility mode, no big difference.

Answer:windows xp 64 ahci driver

You are on the right track for sure.

Did you make sure that you used the XP x64 version of the AHCI drivers? Also, what I like to do with slipstreaming AHCI drivers is to select all and input them as textmode, that way you make sure you won't miss the right one.

Here is a link to the correct driver.

Just an FYI, Windows XP doesn't have any type of SSD support, so your write performance will eventually degrade. Windows 7 is the first OS that officially supports SSD's (TRIM) while in AHCI mode.

Either way, that is a killer SSD and XP x64 does have good overall performance, so have fun!

Hi all,

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem I'm seeing whilst trying to access a removeable CF-SATA card reader using Intel PCH SATA AHCI drivers.

My OS was setup with the BIOS set to AHCI and the regisrty confirms me having AHCI drivers enabled.

How to I revert to the MS drivers from the current Intel ones? If I look in "Driver Details" under Device manager, the "Roll back driver" is greyed out. Is it simply a matter of Uninstalling the driver and allowing Win to build the default one at next boot or would that be asking for all sorts of trouble!?

Any help gratefully received...

Answer:Reverting to MS AHCI driver?

I am not very knowledge in this area, so any advice will be at your own risk. I say this because if your OS is installed under AHCI, it will not boot without it. However go into device manager and find your ahci driver. it will probably be located under IDE ATA/Atapi controllers. right click it and go to the drivers tab. Click on update drivers button. It will ask whether to look on the internet or on your computer. Choose look on your computer. Then choose 'let me pick the driver'. I think you will find your drivers in C:/windows/system32/drivers. Choose the driver named msahci. this should change the controller back to the windows controller for ahci. You will probably have to reboot (that is where the fun begins) When windows begins to load up, you should see a baloon saying windows is loading drivers. If you see that it will probably work. If at any time before you choose the msachi driver you change your mind you will have the opportunity to push cancel and will have therefore done nothing. That is what I would try. what you choose is up to you.

ATI/AMD had dropped support for their ahci/raid drivers for Windows 2000 in 2008. As I need to keep my W2k around to run some vintage apps, I would like to migrate it to a sata drive before my ide drive become a rarity.

I've edited the necessary parameters in the registry for the controller, but my copy of the ahcix86.sys only works for XP and Vista but not for W2k. Could anyone who still has the ahci/raid drivers for SB700 for Windows 2000 share his/her copy? Particulary if your version indicated in ahcix86.inf is older than 05/27/2008, 3.1.1540.64, then it could be the one that will work for W2k.

There was a post for the availability of the ATI drivers support for Windows 2000 in 2008 by our moderator Crjdriver. I wish he still has one for ahci and send me a copy. As a newby I can’t PM him yet.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,I recently have bought SSD disk Corsair F160 to my laptop Y530. Unfortunately I discovered that BIOS can't detect disk in AHCI mode. In IDE mode I can boot system, but disk performance is significant lower. I'm not only person who have this problem. I found this thread - http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?92006-Vertex-2E-120GB-Lenovo-Y530 where situation is very similar. I suppose problem is with SSD disk with SATAII interface. Is there any patch to BIOS, which solve this problem or is there any chance to this patch will be release?

Answer:Lenovo Y530 and problem with SSD disk in AHCI mode

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

Please try installing AHCI drivers during windows 7 installation
First Set SATA mode to AHCI under Bios
http://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/Driver/en/Downloads%20and%20Drivers/Y530/win%207/IN1SRM16WW5.ex...
 1. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
The default location is C:\Drivers\Intel AHCI Driver.
2. Copy the files to a floppy disk, then insert the floppy disk to a floppy drive (attach to the notebook).
3. Insert Windows 7 32bit install Disc into ODD and then power on system (Press F12 to select boot from ODD).
4. After booting from the ODD, press F6 when it is requested by Windows 7 32bit installation utility.
5. Follow the instruction in the screen to install the SATA AHCI driver in the floppy disk.

Hope This Helps
Cheers!!!

The mekanic is in a bit of a bind for a change.

I have an older Dell Dimension E520 with an XP license which needs a refurb. As most of us know, XP is native IDE, SO to complete the install without a BSOD, I need the chipset driver which supports SATA/EIDE. The BIOS does not offer to switch to EIDE. All I can seem to find searching for this chipset driver (Intel ver.8.3.0.1010) are bum links with people who want me to install their crapware to get the 1.88 MB file in question. :mad

All I get on the Intel site is documentation, no files.

Anyone have any ideas?

Seems you are speaking about this thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=198612

I don?t understand? the driver is a part of the graphic card driver as suggested by Tonny?
The driver has been found in graphic card driver as well?
Please check and read the readme.txt in the driver folder. Maybe it could provide more details?
Sorry mate but there is no other SATA driver? the SATA driver in graphic card folder is the right one?

Please ensure that your Win XP disk contains at least SP2 but better would be SP3

PS: if you are using SATA driver then the SATA mode should be set to AHCI

Hello,

I'm trying to install the Win7 32-Bit upgrade on my Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop and I get an error that says that I need to update my ATI AHCI Compatible RAID Driver. I went into the Update Device Drivers as suggested in the instructions and tried to upgrade that driver, but it says I have the latest driver for it. So I tried restarting my laptop and ran the upgrade setup again, and got the same error message.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get it to upgrade? I tried searching all over and can not find a newer version than what I have (2.5.1540.48).

Thanks,
Mike

Answer:cant install AHCI Driver in vista

Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) mode is a BIOS option in my computer for the SATA hard disk controller. It lets the OS use Native Command Queuing (NCQ/aka SATA mode) to reorder disk read or write requests to make the reading and writing more efficient, particularly if the disk is very busy.

My BIOS has options IDE, RAID, or AHCI mode. RAID includes all of the ACHI features and Intel recommend that you choose the RAID before you install an OS because changing it afterward can be painful (or "unsupported" if you have an Intel motherboard!).

The process in Vista seems to be less painful than in Windows XP because VISTA includes AHCI drivers by default. However, if AHCI mode was not enabled at the time you installed Vista then the new drivers will not be loaded, and if you change the BIOS setting then Windows doesn't boot.

Simple solution:

Start with IDE mode selected in the BIOS, and boot Windows Vista.
Exit all Windows-based programs.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
Reboot, and change to AHCI mode in the BIOS. Windows will detect some cha... Read more

Hi.... My question is: How do you install the AHCI driver on a Z575 running XP Professional x86? Most of the drivers or newer versions of them from the manufacturers install and work just fine. As for the AMD AHCI driver for XP (1.2.1.197 from the Drivers & Software page), I haven't gotten it to install. I tried via Device Manager--->Unknown Device (ACPI)--->Update Driver, but somehow it didn't work. The message I got said something like, "No install information was found." The AHCI driver is the only one that hasn't installed successfully. There weren't any instructions in the readme txt about what to do in any detail.  Help, please....! Thanks in advance.

Hi

The Satellite L500d-159 seems to belong to the PSLT9E series.
Toshiba European driver page provides all Win XP drivers!

The notebook supports an ATI graphic chip and the graphic card driver contains the SATA/AHCI driver as well.

So download the graphic card driver from the Toshiba European driver page.
In the package you will find only exe file?execute this exe file? after the package has been extracted, you will have to go to folder SBDrv\SATA
There you will find the .inf file which is a SATA driver!

hi sayogs,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you have Windows 7 installed in Compatible (IDE) Mode, try to:

1. Follow the guide below on how to set AHCI in Windows and reboot the PC.

AHCI : Enable in Windows 7 after OS install

2. When the PC reboots, boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2 on the Lenovo startup screen) and set the SATA Controller mode from Compatible to AHCI). When finished, press F10 to save and exit and observe.

Hi All.

I would appreciate some help on this one. I found a spare 160GB SATA Drive on which I have decided to install a trial of Win 10 to explore it further for now.

The only way that I could get this HD to be seen in the BIOS would be to change the SATA Bios setting from AHCI to IDE. Which I subsequently did and installed win 10. However changing the BIOS SATA setting back to AHCI brings up a boot error.

How can I now install the AHCI Driver so that I boot using AHCI mode going forward. My mainboard is a Intel DH67BL.

Any help would be appreciated

My B51-80 was in a service center and the hard drive was replaced under warranty. I received it clean as it was when I bought the notebook. I restored my last working image of Win7 x86, but it cannot boot. Please note it's the same notebook, same configuration, just the drive replaced (bad 500gb with a new 500gb). I found out that during the service the BIOS was updated to the latest version. Maybe this is the problem why the last image is not booting and ends in BSOD. So I tried to reinstall the Win7 x86 I had there and here it comes - I can't find a working AHCI SATA driver! On the download page is just the stupid IRST executable package which is completely useless as it cannot be used while installing clean system. The bios boot mode is set to legacy support, boot priority to legacy first, but I got stuck in the "select driver to be installed screen". With several trials I managed to identify the correct drivers as "Intel 6th Generation Core Processor Family Platform I/O SATA AHCI Controller" downloaded from I don't know where, but I always get this error:Any idea where to get and use the correct AHCI SATA driver for this **bleep** B51-80? I'm not a computer newbie but so far it took me more than 6 hours and I hit the dead end. Please don't recommend installing Windows 8/8.1/10 - I'm using the notebook with legacy CNC machine and the latest supported OS is Win7 x86. I've been running XP32 on the system in my sig, but I've decided to upgrade to Vista Business 64-bit because I got a free copy through my school. I had been running my ICH9 SATA controller in IDE mode, but I decided to install Vista in AHCI mode.

I downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver and followed the directions to extract the files and put them on a USB flash drive. During Vista installation I clicked "Load Driver" at the partitioning screen and plugged in the flash drive. The problem is in the driver list nothing shows up unless I untick the hide unnecessary drivers checkbox. I've tried selecting and installing several different things that appear to be a match for my hardware, but each time once the install completes my AHCI controller is using the default Windows drivers instead of the Intel drivers.

Also, if I try to install the Intel drivers once Vista is installed I am told that my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the driver.

I've reinstalled Vista ~8 times in the last 2 days trying to figure this out and I'm about ready to forget it and just install in IDE mode without the Intel drivers, because there appears to be something fubared in them.

Answer:Intel AHCI Driver Problem

Hello.
This may be a stupid question/suggestion, but have you gone into the bios and changed ide to ahci?
If you have, it sounds like a vista or mobo issue.
Have you tried slipstreaming sp1 into vista? That may or may not fix the issue.

hi psc2350,

You're probably running Windows in compatibility mode. If you're running on a preloaded Windows 8, can try to boot into the BIOS using the UEFI Firmware Settings.

If verified that you're in compatibility mode, follow this guide on how to change it to AHCI. In some cases, you also need to change the startoverride entry to 0 for it to work.

Note:
Ensure you create a recovery drive first and have all of your data backed up before trying the fix above.

Hope this helps

Hi Sushant,

Compatible setting is compatible to IDE host controller mode and a must if you want to e.g. install
Windows XP on your machine,
some time ago I temporary installed Win XP on my IdeaPad Y560p and changed it to compatible,
then going back to Win 7 I forgot to change it back to AHCI mode.

I find absolutely no difference in performance and out of laziness left it set in compatible mode.
If your Z570 works fine, just use it as is, but if there is a performance issue with your machine,
it's a different cause and has nothing to do with AHCI / Compatible settings...
http://www.diffen.com/difference/AHCI_vs_IDE

Regarding Win 8, there are still many problems with upgrading to this brand-new Windows version.
I suggest you to just enjoy your Z570 as is.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Happy computing... Zehn

Answer:AHCI Controller not shown in Device Manager, Win 8.1, Lenovo G50-45 w/SSD drive

hi lenovo-tom,

Welcome to the Forums.

AFAIK, the AMD SATA Controller is showing the right name once you have installed the correct SATA driver for an AMD powered machine.

The OEM driver for the SATA (AHCI) controller is located on the AMD Driver (which installs the Video, SATA (AHCI), and Audio drivers as well).

If you wanna see the AHCI Controller under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, try one of the following:
1. Update the SATA driver by installing the AMD Chipset Drivers from the AMD website.
2. Under the Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, right click on the AMD SATA Controller and choose
Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers and on the list of drivers, pick the  Standard AHCI Controller.

But when i try to update the ahci driver the system stays forever in the windows starting page (the one with the glowing window logo)

I have a T410 with Win7 64-bit SP1 OS.  I've installed many updates using System Update 4 and this is the first problem I've had.  I am logged in with an administraor level user ID. I ran SU today and one update appeared: Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Windows 64bit, version 10.6.0.1002.  I selected it, but the install failed.  I tried a couple more times but got the same result. So I went to the lenovo download website and downloaded it directly from HERE.  I ran it with administrator level and it appeared to run to completion (got no errors).  However, when I checked the version, it was still the old one: 9.6.0.1014. So I ran SU again and it still said I needed this update, which verified that even running the standalone download with run as administrator, did not work. Has anyone else had problems installing this update?  Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks,

Answer:AHCI Driver 10.6.0.1002 Install Fails

Oops, never mind [embarrassed] I forgot that running the downloaded driver file only extracts the contents, not install it.  I went into Device Manager, did a driver update from the folder where the contents had been extracted and the driver is now updated.  Happy Thanksgiving!!

Answer:Which driver should I choose for SATA HDD In AHCI mode?

It supports the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, the Lenovo support site lists the driver in addition to the "patch" batch script for existing installations and the instructions to enable it with two shutdowns and reboots. When you visit the Lenovo suport site and enter your machine type, the drivers matrix will list your applicable driver file.

System update auto installed the latest AHCI driver for my T450s, after which device manager shows my 500GB Samsung 850 SSD to be a liteon SSD instead.  I found a note in the readme for the driver which states not to use it when you have a PCIE SSD, but it recognized my ADATA PCIE second SSD correctly, with the correct model number. I rolled the driver back and things returned to normal, but shouldn't System Update install the correct driver for my configuration without my having to read all the documentation first?  Does anyone know if this problem will persist in future updates?  Thanks for any assistance.

Need in some serious help, bought a SSD drive and i simply cannot put it into AHCI mode, i've flashed the drive, updated firmware, done a secure erase, i've switched the ahci mode in the bios to ide / raid and ahci mode but it just simply will not use the drive in this mode, it doesn't recognise it, it doesn't see it, wont let me use it in this mode, i've got ahci drivers from the motherboard disk, but i have absolutely no idea on how to get these drivers installed from a usb on bootup, i've followed a tone of instructions and spent hte last 4 days trying to install the AHCI drivers and every time i've copied the drivers onto the usb, rebooted the system, it still will not see the USB to install... i've even tried to to boot up to dos via start up and it will not see the usb drive to install the drivers. Tutorials up the buttocks for intel but when it comes to AMD chipsets for Nforce, there is absolutely nothing to show you on how to get this driver installed. I've plugged it correctly into the AHCI/RAID only sata ports and it still will not see it, when its in IDE mode, no farkin problem, except its read write speed is 117 and 109, not even half of the 550MB speeds its support to be getting. Its a OCZ VERTEX 3 120GB SSD, and my motherboard is an ASUS M4N75TD Sli motherboard.

I need help in getting these drivers installed, if i can get them installed via the bios im sure i can get this thing to work properly, but i have no idea how to do that, especiall... Read more

Hi buddy,

I don?t know what Satellite L500D model you have exactly but I can really recommend reading the forum threads firstly before you start a new question. This was already discussed 100 times before?

The AHCI driver you can find in display driver package on official Toshiba website:

I am trying to install the AHCI drivers for XP on a Tecra A11;

I have a ghost image that loads on this laptop under compatibility mode in the BIOS and am trying to update the driver for the disk controller to AHCI, reboot & change the disk mode to AHCI in the BIOS.

This is what I normally do for the HP laptops we have and it works most times.

The Storage drivers Toshiba supply are in the form of an executable which will only run if you have AHCI enabled, how is anybody running in compatibility mode supposed to use these?
They don't even extract to driver files you can use just .cab files & an installer.

In Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers I currently have listed;

Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family 2 port Serial ATA Storage Controller - 3B2D
Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller - 3B28

Secondary IDE Channel

...and this gives me this list of controllers to chose from;

Answer:Tecra A11-1F4 (PTSE0E-OM6052EN) Which driver for AHCI in XP?

Success! The driver to use is...

Intel (R) 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller

After a couple reboots the device now shows up as;

Intel (R) 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller

...and all the other IDE & SATA entries have been replaced with this one.

You would have thought it would be the - Intel (R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller - but that would be too easy :D

Hope this helps others struggling with this problem ;)

(Toshiba, would it be too much trouble to add this to your support page for this model? XP is still the OS of choice for many organizations.)

I have an I5 Ivy-Bridge (B75 chipset) system. Windows 10 is up and running (fresh install) and I've been able to load all but the correct SATA drivers - still using the "Standard" AHCI SATA driver that windows installed.

Asus hasn't released a new Windows 10 SATA driver for their B75 motherboards yet. Hell, they just posted the Intel MEI chipset driver a couple days ago, and I had to get the VIA audio driver directly from the VIA website.

I'm wondering if that standard windows SATA driver is going to cause any performance issues. I noticed all the 8-series and newer chipset based motherboard drivers have been updated on the Asus website (and other manufacture websites too), but the 7-series (Ivy Bridge) based motherboards have very few drivers updated. Are motherboard manufacturers even planing on fully supporting their 7-series motherboards? So far support has been sporadic at best...

Appreciate any feedback...

I have been reading for days and don't understand this. When I get a system built using all SATA drives...is the best setting in the bios AHCI?

I know the RAID setting requires drivers and IDE does not but how about AHCI?

Should I even use this setting? Does it require drivers or does W7 have "generic" ones?

Thanks to anyone who knows.

Hi everyone new here
My computer Crashed and I tried to reinstall xp media center on my dell demension 9150 what a pain it keeps asking me for SATA AHCI/RAID driver diskette and my computer did not come with this disk nor did I make one I was wondering how to fix this problem and it is also asking about the txtsetup.oem and I don't have that either I have downloaded this file but it is not liking it either I am all most ready to blow it up if it can not be fixed soon. does anyone have any Ideas on what to do next I have to 160gb hard drives raid 0 If someone could please help that would be really great and thanks in advance I have the install disk but it will not reinstall and I also have the 6 disks and they do not do anything at all either the hard drive has also been formatted

Answer:SATA AHCI/RAID driver diskette

How did you go about doing this reinstall... did it come with a restore CD that you followed or did you manually restore it. Also it seems as if you have a RAID setup... being a proprietary setup I'm sure this driver can be found on one of your cds or even on your system if you've done the dell restore.

Another option I'd like you to check for if you could when your system boots hit the delete key and go into your bios settings and search for any type of raid options and let us know what they say.

I'd like to be able to install just the driver and do it during the installation of Windows rather than after which would just mean upgrading from the default microsoft driver. I can't find the download on Intel's site for just the driver without the whole RST package and I also need information on exactly how to do the install during the Windows installation.

Sorry for my noobness and thanks in advance for any help and information anyone can provide.

Answer:G505 Windows 7 Setup AHCI Driver

Hello.

Here is the driver for you.

CHIPSET DRIVER/AHCI DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 7 (32-BIT, 64-BIT) - LENOVO G405, G505

*Edit* Sorry, I was a little ahead of myself there, I take it the Windows installation doesn't see your new HD when the window for the Disk/Partition selection comes up.

Are you trying to install Windows from a USB key? Because I've seen this on many occasions, and switching your key over to another USB port on your machine gets rid of this error. Try another USB port for the installation, preferrably a USB 2 port, as the USB 3 ports require a driver in Windows to function properly.

Hi there,

some time ago I switched my SATA controllers from native IDE to AHCI mode via regediting the "Start" parameters of msahci and pciide. After rebooting and swichting to AHCI support in the BIOS, Windows installed the generic AHCI drivers. Afterwards, I replaced those with AMD AHCI drivers.

Recently, I flashed my BIOS, naturally reloading CMOS default state. This of course lead to the system running in IDE mode again. The registry values have stayed the same, but my system won't boot when switching to AHCI mode again in the BIOS ("Loading Operating System... A disk read error has occured, press CTRL. + Alt. + DEL. to restart.").

What do I have to do do get my system running in AHCI mode again? I already thought about uninstalling the AMD AHCI drivers, as a brief boot information screen shows that the system is trying to use those to boot, instead of using the generic Microsoft ones. The Catalyst Installation Manager doesn't provide me with the possiblity to uninstall those though. Any help is very much appreciated!

Replacing is not that easys as with other laptops / tablett, as there are no service doors on the back. You might need to take off the whole back plate with '1000's of screws ;-)( But there is a related service manual around ).ref. to warranty it might depend on local rules, get them a call to verifiy
