Power charging not charging my Lenovo flex 15

Question: Power charging not charging my Lenovo flex 15

Hello, so I am having a problem with my Lenovo charger. It won't charge my computer at all! When I plug it in, the battery icon flashes. I have tried many other outlets to check if it was a problem with my outlet, butIt's definitely not. My sister has the same charger and I tried it on mine and it worked perfectly fine, so it's not a problem with my battery. I still have the 1 year warranty on it, so am I able to get a new charger? I need to have one of my own that works!! Please help!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Could anyone please advise a solution: my Lenovo Flex 2-14 (Windows 8) is suddenly showing "plugged in, not charging" message. It is completely impossible to use it if it is not plugged in, as soon as you unplug it just goes dead. I have already tried the uninstall Microsoft AC Adapter way and it didn't help. Has anyone else had this exact issue? Thank you!

Answer:plugged in, not charging - Lenovo Flex 2-14

Hey, have you tried this -
1) Shut down the laptop and unplug the power supply
2) Press the power button for 40 seconds
3) Reconnect and start the laptop

Have you tried doing the "Battery Guage Reset" functionality?

I am using lenovo flex3. When I connect it to power source, the battery keeps on switching between on charging and on battery and the battery won't charge at all. Also, the screen keeps on blinking.  I tried removing all chords and connecting again but it doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, have a Lenovo Flex 3 1480 that is out of warranty (2 years old) and this week it started flickering when charging.  So I tried another charger, same thing, tried another battery... which actually is a higher charge and doesn't flicker from charging to not, but won't go above the % it was already on.  I've fiddled with tons of programs and googled the heck out of it.  Has anyone had a fix for this without replacing the entire motherboard? It also doesn't appear to charge when off. thanks!

My battery was charging fine and then I clicked on the battery icon today to open up and the menu and it went from telling me the battery was plugged in and charging to plugged in and not charging. It was like clicking the icon turned off the charging capability. This is a brand new computer, I've only had it for a couple weeks. The battery and adapater are both okay according to OneKey Optimizer, so I can't figure out why it's not charging. Currently running Windows 10 if that helps.

Answer:Lenovo Flex 3-1120 Plugged in, not charging

Does your battery stay at about 60%?  If so, then there actually is no problem.  Lenovo Flex 3 has a feature called "Conservation Mode," which keeps the battery from charging all the way.  This will supposedly increase the lifespan of the battery, which is a good thing, since the battery isn't meant to be replaced.  If you want to charge the battery normally, just click on the battery guage on the taskbar.  You'll find the setting there.

Hey like many others I'm having some issues with my FLEX 3-1580. Issue: The battery originally would not charge above 15%, now it will not charge above 14%. The battery light near the power button is on, and the charger works (tested with DMM). Sometimes I get a constant on and off between the computer detecting the power cord. This makes the screen flash back and forth in brightness going from plugged in to unplugged (This is remedied by disabling Microsoft AC Adapter in Device Manager, meaning it then stays "plugged in", still doesn't charge). If the battery is not plugged into the laptop it will start on AC Adapter after many attempts of 2 second boot/stop/boot/stop. Attempts: I have checked the voltages from the power cable internally to where it plugs into the board. The top two connectors get the 21V. The CMOS battery is at 3V. I reapplied thermal paste. I reset all connections. Looked for component burn marks but couldn't see any. I know other laptops have had issues with the MOSFETS but I could not find any MOSFET on the motherboard. Ran registry fixer with CCleaner. Updated all the drivers. Flashed newest BIOS In the end I don't know if its a software problem and something seriously got messed up by a virus in my registry or somthing.. Or if there is something on the motherboard that is bad.

Hi, i bought my lenovo flex 3 14inch laptop in microsoft store in january 2016. i have my first problem just in 4 months i.e. my laptop didn't start after shutdown it went to hibernate mode and didn't wakeup. i have sent it to lenovo and got back after 15 days. later i came up with same issue in december 2016 and i didn't use my laptop upto january 2017 and upgraded my warranty to onsite repair for 1 more year because i lost hope on lenovo and i'm pertty much confidant that this laptop will not sustain for a month or 2 after this repair. The motherboard was replaced with a technician who doesn't know how to go to BIOS settings. Now i got a new issue i.e.  "plugged-in not charging problem". I thought it was new problem but later got to know that it is on going problem of all the flex 3 laptops. I tried different steps but no use and finally called lenovo support. The technician tried for long 2 hours installing lenovo settings app from microsoft store but unfortunately it didn't worked out (LOL !!! LENOVO APPLICATION DOESN'T WORK IN LENOVO LAPTOP). I have contacted tenovo support on 23rd of this month and as per their email it shoud be repaired in 3 days after receiving the parts. I got new battery delivered on 25th of this month but i didn't see any technician addressed me till date to replace that part or fix my issue. "Dear lenovo support please provide on-time service to your laptops" NOTE :   lenovo support people don't give suggestions like remove... I have a Lenovo Flex 3 1480 with Intel I7.  I was getting a message that says "plugged in charging" but the battery charge was staying at 60% and not increasing. Lenovo techs said the battery must be bad so I ordered and installed a new, Lenovo brand battery.  I get the same condition... placing the cursor over the battery symbol gives a status message of "40% available, plugged in, charging" but the battery charge never increases, even after shutting off the computer down and leaving it plugged in overnight. The laptop was a year old and therefore out of warranty last November, 2016. HELP!

Hi, So out of the blue my Yoga 13 seized up while sitting at the start menu in Windows 8.1. I had to kill the local svc host which had accumulated over 2GB of ram... just so I could shutdown the machine,  but when I shutdown some craziness started. The power wouldn't turn off even after 20 minutes. I held it down forever and finally it did turn off (maybe the shutdown was incredibly prolonged). I did also flash the bios after this craziness, to the one on the suggested download site (version 55).  At any rate, that's when the problems really started: I got the plugged in not charging issue in windowsThe battery charging light no longer turns on when plugged in (though the battery is charging). The novo button doesn't work.Unauthorized battery messagePower button wasn't responsive when off. It took several minutes for it to register. I of course have tried, from the forums: Letting the battery run down to zero/Shutting down the power from the bios. The latter fixed the unautorized battery problem.Uninstalling/Reinstalling Lenovo energy management. This does allow the battery icon in windows to show charging above 90%... sometimes.Turned off fast boot in windows and bios. The problem with the power button not responding when off is much, much less in frequency now.Making sure that Maximum Battery was selected in Energy Management.Resetting the battery guageI reflashed my bios to version 55 with the default fan profiles located in a Lenovo KB article... Good day, I bought my Lenovo G580H 1 week before, and before few days i saw, that the battery is not charging. First time the battery was on 61%, later when i was watching the film without AC adapter and after it pluged the AC adapter i saw, that the battery is on 7% and not charging. So no it's not charging too and when you want to watch a film or something without ac adapter laptop is truns off autmatically. So for what i should be angry? Hi Guys, I have had to change my battery, got a brand new DELL battery but I can't get it to charge...I'm running Windows 10 PRO. I have tried the fixes listed above but unfortunately NONE has solved my problem. Any suggestions?

Answer:XPS 12 9Q23 Power Charging Disabled / Plugged in, NOT CHARGING

Hi DAEMONROD.
Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

It is hovering around the 5-7% range since yesterday and continues to say that it is charging, when in actuality it is not. I have tried to reset the laptop, as well as uninstall and install the ACPI drivers, but nothing seems to work. It has only been a month since I got this laptop.  Any help would be appreciated.

This is a brand new Lenovo T440S. AC Adapter connected to laptop - batteries show draining power. Tested AC Adapter and external battery at Best Buy on same model. Best buy's floor model AC Adapter and battery makes no difference-battery continues to drain. AC Adapter and external battery from my laptop work perfectly fine on the Best buy floor model. So it is not the AC Adapter or the external battery. Sent to Lenovo for repair. Motherboard and Sony Internal battary replaced. Came back to me. Still would not charge. Powered off laptop--powered back on. Disconnected AC Adapter then reconnected - the batteries charged to 100%. Then inexplicably, when the AC Adapter and the laptop were taken to a different room and plugged into a working AC outlet. The batteries began draining again. No combination of steps will set the batteries charging again. Lenovo wants me to send the laptop in again. I have gone through all the mumbo-jumbo of taking the battery out uninstalling the ACPI Battery--uninstalling the Power manager Driver--reinstalling--reinserting the battery...etc. All of the software is up-to-date. BIOS, installed all Lenovo updates for this model, all Windows 8.1 Professional Updates. Searched high and low for all the logical resolutions and illogical resolutions. I am having the exact same problem with my Think Pad Helix. This is very disappointing. I called Lenovo Tech Support in Canada and they refused to help me stating that I ran out of warranty about a month ago. When I plug in my AC adapter, it does not charge my battery. I tried every power outlet at home with no luck. I tried at a coffee shop and didnt work. Tried at a friends place and started charging the battery. Seems like it has a mind of its own. If someone can please provide a possible solution. I took my laptop to a computer repair store, they tested the AC adapter and confirmed that it was working. Lenovo - Please help !!!  I am a loyal customer for last 10 years, but will never purchase again if there is no help provided to resolve these issues. Hasan.

Hi, My lenovo g505s has stooped charging and both battery and power tlights are on (white ) when Ac power is not plugged in. When I plugged in AC power both light will start blinking (power white battery orange). Is it a software problem or problem with the pin of power. My battery and charger are working fine.(checked on another laptop). Please help out.

Answer:Lenovo G505s Not charging both battery and power light are white.

From your service manual (available on the Support tab for your notebook) ... it says that your blinking while is sleep mode, the blinking amber indicates charging battery.  If your lights are fast blinking (less than one second apart) it may mean something different.

Would try removing battery and AC adapter, press and hold power button for 30 seconds then release.  Reinstall battery and AC power then start the notebook using power button.  Run Lenovo diagnostics and have it check the battery for faults.

Good luck.

A while back, we discovered the battery maintenance error, where the "stop charging at 90%" feature would cause the battery to only charge partially to like 50% but read that it was fully charged, and then it would turn off early. This was the thread. I know it's a BIOS issue, and I will update eventually, but the partial charge happened to me again, and it got me thinking: Do I really need the Power Manager? I use the Power Manager to configure Turbo Boost clock speed and all that, and I suppose the Turbo+ button does crank up the fan, but I can use TPFancontrol to manually control the fan, and I found that Windows power settings by itself allows me to set the clock speed however I want, using a percentage. Setting all the numbers at 45% parks the clockspeed at 1.2GHz, a good compromise for battery life and performance. The best Power Manager can do is to cycle between 700Mhz all the way up to 2.7Ghz, which throws battery life out the window. So, will I lose anything by just uninstalling Power Manager?

Answer:Life without Lenovo Power Manager: Any thoughts? [battery issue, charging error]

Technically the answer is no, Power Manager is optional.  However, it is a good option for Windows 7 users. It does expose more power management to the user than the power settings under Control panel. Until they release the Windows 8 version and I run it for a few weeks, I won't know what to say about that environment.

Hopefully someone here will be able to help me. My warranty expired in late November, but about a month before I had a power issue and the motherboard was to blame. It got fixed uner warranty and everything has been working fine until today. I had the laptop charging overnight and when I woke up this morning the battery indicator was still red, but it was running because the ac adapter was in. However, the battery indicator was solid and not blinking so it wasn't charging. I pulled the adapter out and re-inserted it. The battery indicator began blinking as if it was charging, but became solid again after only a few second. Then the power indicator (z with a circle around it or number 4 on the list of lights) started blinking steady like the battery indicator should. I tried to look it up on the forums, but as I was doing so it shut off. I pulled everything out for a couple of minutes and reconnected it, but now when I power up it loads a bit and just turns off. Any ideas? New motherboard again? If they fixed this and it is broke again is the warranty extended? Thanks to all those that help.

Hi everyone! I have a Flex 2-14. I had upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. After that my battery is no more charging. Message is "plugged in, not charging".  I had tried:- Lenovo Energy Management --> change the setting from Optimized Battery Health , to Maximum Battery Life  - Lenovo OneKey Optimiser --> change the setting from Conservation Mode to Normal Mode- reverted to Windows 8.1 OneKey Optimiser reports: Battery status is good; Battery capacity is good; Adapter status is good.Battery does not charge even when notebook is stopped but plugged to mains. Now battery is at 0%. Maybe related to this: i can't upgrade BIOS. Now the bios is A0CN21WW.Downloaded A0CN37WW. Extracted files. Removed /cpb 30 from winflash64.bat (in order to remove battery check). Run Install.exe from c:\BIOS\A0CN37WW. Notebook shutdown, remains 2-3 minutes with black screen, and then reboots but the bios remains the same A0CN21WW. Could be a faulty BIOS? How can i force update it? Thanks for any suggestion.

I have the flex 2 and the only time my laptop charges is when it is completely turned off. The battery life is also very short, even when I am using my laptop it says "plugged in, charging" but the battery life continues to go down, it only lasts about an hour or two WHILE BEING PLUGGED IN. And it takes a couple hours to fully charge when i have it turned off, i usually plug it in at night and in the morning it will be a full charge. I have only had this laptop about 4 months, it is not old, and I have not been over using it. Everything else functions perfectly fine on it and i love it, but this is a huge problem when i am trying to get school work done. this has been going on a few weeks now. Why is this happening is there something i can do to fix it?

Hello,  I have a two year old Ideapad Flex 14 which is having some battery issues. Specifically, the battery light is flashing red, and when I plug in my laptop, the status says ?plugged in, not charging.? When plugged in, it stays at roughly the same battery level, though it has been gradually losing battery despite being plugged in over the last few days (this has been going on for five days or so now).  It is at 5% battery now, and I?m not sure what to do to make it charge. I?ve tried taking out the battery and putting it back multiple times, but am not really sure what else to try ? I?m out of the country until December, so I haven?t been able to find a repair place to get it fixed yet...  Any suggestions how to fix this?? Annie

The lenovo power settings give feedback that the battery is in good condition and that the adapter is recognized. I already checked the lenovo conservation setting which is off, but I am not quite for sure how else to troubleshoot the issue.

I want to keep the battery on my laptop as healthy as possible. I primarily use my flex 4 when it is plugged into a wall charger, and was wondering if when it reaches 100% does the battery stop charging? I know it says it does not charge, but can anyone confirm that there is no electricity running through the battery when it is plugged in and fully charged? What is the best way to keep my battery from degrading over time? Thanks!

Answer:Does the Flex 4 battery stop charging when fully charged?

Yes. it does stop charging. All modern laptops have a lithuim-ion battery that is computer controlled. But it is recommended to drain (use) the battery at least once a month to calibrate and maintain battery chemistry healthy.

I've had my Lenovo Flex 2-15 for about two years and it has always charged perfectly fine. Today it started telling me that the computer is "plugged in, not charging". It was working normally as of this morning (took it to class and then recharged it afterward), but as of this evening it's not charging.

I have tried multiple solutions:

Restarting
Uninstalling and reinstalling / updating battery drivers
Checking power management options (no problems there)

I am not able to remove the battery as the Flex doesn't allow me to do so. It's currently at 94%, and I'm afraid to run it all the way down because it looks like it won't charge back up again.

If anyone has any advice, it would be very welcome. Thanks!

Problem: Around December 2016 and Jan 2017 (and some before that) many users are reporting that their Flex 3 laptops have stopped charging. No, it's not the "plugged in, not charging" issue which can be solved by turning off battery consevation mode in power management software. The battery icon says "plugged in, charging" or sometimes switches beetween plugged in and not plugged in status. When the power adapter is connected, it says "plugged in, charging" and the battery percentage doesn't go up and stays at the same level. When the power adapter is unplugged the battery behaves normally and the battery percentage goes down as usual. Here are the things that I have tried so far and haven't worked1)Bought a new power adapter thinking the original one had crapped out.2)Uninstalled all Lenovo settings stuff3)Played around with Microsoft ACPI battery drivers4)Unistalled Microsoft ACPI and then disconnected and reconnected the battery (ofcourse by opening the back cover)5)Reset Windows 10 using Lenovo recovery6)Updated the BIOS7)Clean install of windows 10 using an external flash drive8)Installed Ubuntu (the battery meter in ubuntu behaved the exact same way as win 10 (plugged in, charing but not going up))9)Another user has also reported chaging the battery for another battery and still having the same issue.I have contacted Lenovo and they refused to help in any way because of the expired warranty (which I can kind of understand). My problem is, if so many users are r... Good day,I have reached the next problem: after I've returned back from a vacation, I have inserted AC adapter into my laptop and the orange battery indicator was not displayed. I have turned on my laptop and found, that the battery doesn't charge - there is "Plugged in and not charging" message near the battery indicator in the tray. I have tried to follow the steps from the http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Ideapad-Z400-or-Z500-battery-will-not-cha... , but it didn't hepl - the program freezes on the first step "Now configuring the program..." http://take.ms/k0TBi Have also tried to delete/reinstall Energy Management - nothing helped. OS - Windows 8.1 x64.Power Management Version 8.0.2.14. (have also tried to reset battery via that toold - didn't help). Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have got an ASUS k56cb for more then a year now and it has been working fine for my. But now i came across this problem while trying to charge the laptop while windows 8 is running. When the laptop is turned off i can charge my laptop but when i try charging it while windows 8 is running it keeps flickering.
I have reinstalled windows 8 but that didnt fix the problem. And if i try to run the laptop on ac-power it will shut down when booting or shut down after 10-15min. Before this problem i was charging the laptop while working. I dont know if its the charger or the battery. I have measureed the charger and it is gives 19v all the time. I dont really know what to do know and any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

So lately I've been having an issue with my laptop.  The charger is plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it unless I shift the laptop to a certain position.  This seems to have little to do with the position of the AC plug in the DC port at all as it's not the same positions that will actually get the computer to recognize the charger is plugged in. I don't think this has anything to do with the battery itself as removing the battery does not make the connection more consistent.  The computer will still not recognize the AC adapter is plugged in.  I had the same problem with my old laptop, a V570. It will also briefly lose connection and restore it before my display can process it.  I know this by the CPU throttle in the BIOS (which I can't access to turn off because of the version of BIOS used) will randomly slow my computer down and won't restore to full speed when the charger is making connection again. What just happened lately which is making me wonder about this more is that my laptop stopped recognizing the charger as being plugged in in the tray icon but the charger light on my laptop started flashing orange.  The blue power light was also flashing. Sometimes when I restart my computer to reset the CPU throttle, I will get a pop-up message from the Battery Management Software stating, "Adapter has limited support: performance will be affected ..." Full specs available on the purchase page here. &n... I have a G560 , when battery is depleted and needs a charge . If I plug my AC adapter in my battery icon shows I have the AC power but the icon shows that it is charging for 17 seconds and then quits showing that it is charging. If I unplug the power supply and then plug it in again. The same 20 seconds thing. I can get the battery to completely recharge all the way up if I plug and unplug. I am wondering if it is a defective voltage regulator problem? I do not want to replace the battery if the battery is not bad. It is just out of warranty by 3 monthes. This just started happening . Thanks and God Bless : )

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

Hi, My husband purchased an Ideapad Yoga 11S last year. Last month, the power cord stopped charging. I took the system into a repair shop, and they told me that the charger wasn't registering any power activity, and that I'd need to buy a new one. I ordered a new one... one month later, it too has stopped charging the computer! I have NO IDEA why? My son uses this for school, and he can't access any of his work, nor can he participate in classwork that requires the computer. I researched solutions, and found that I should unplug the unit and take out the battery --- YEAH RIGHT... a special screw driver is needed to do that, so we can't get the screws out without stripping them. I am VERY frustrated because the computer is no longer covered under warranty... is the new charger that I purchased covered? Is there something else that I can do? Any help in this matter is extremely appreciated. S_Reynolds

Hi there, new on the forums. I've just bought my first ThinkPad and can't tell if the charging is complete while the laptop is off. I charge the laptop mostly when it's off but the only chargin indication I can see is a constant green LED near the charging port. I would have expected it to be red during charge and turn green when charging reaches 100%. Are all E320s like this? A very annoying problem

Answer:Thinkpad Edge E320 Charging LED; how can you tell if its charging complete?

It seems that Lenovo engineers decided that Edge users don't need as many indicator lights as other models have.  In my E420 there are only 2: AC power adapter connected (green light next to power connector) and On/Off/Sleep status (red light dot in ThinkPad logo). That's it!  If you want to know the battery status you have to open Windows.

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hi, I upgraded my Sony Vaio to Windows 10. Since the upgrade, battery icon showing "Plugged in, Charging" but not actually charging. Always it is in 3% and when unplug the power, system shutdowns.

Answer:Sony Vaio - shows charging, but not charging the battery?

From: Recovery and Troubleshooting Guide
Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
When you intend to run your VAIO computer on battery power, the battery pack may have run out of power. Connect the computer to a power outlet. For details, refer to Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
If you did not previously follow the standard procedure to turn off your VAIO computer, the power controller may be suspended due to a program error.
Do as follow:
- On the models with a built-in battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, push and hold the battery off button for at least three seconds with a thin, straight object (such as a paper clip), and leave the computer for at least
five minutes. Then, plug the AC adapter and turn on the computer once again. For the location of the battery off button, refer to Locating Parts and Controls in the Startup Guide.
- On the models with a removable battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, remove the battery pack, and leave the computer for at least five minutes. Then, reinstall the battery pack and turn on the computer once again.
? If the charge indictor is blinking or the ? power button does not work, a battery error may have occurred or the battery pack may not be detected.

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help
I hope you can ... Read more

Answer:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. I recently had my Qosmio F55-Q502 repaired by Toshiba.
Two issues were addressed and one is fixed.

However, the second was attempted to be resolved unsuccessfully.

When I attempt to play multi-media games such as Call of Duty IV, even if the system is fully charged, within minutes the system will start to blink the "backlights" and then when I see the charging icon, it says "Plugged in, Not Charging."

This really concerns me as I have read online many similar issues, but none of the solutions seems to work.
To have to restart the machine everytime this happens and your in the middle of a game, really stinks!
I even had it happening with SimCity4 which is an ancient game.

Any good suggestions on this?
They did replace the battery when it was sent in which seems to be what most people say needs to be done.

Answer:Qosmio F55-Q502 - charging icon says: Plugged in, Not Charging

Hello

If your Qosmio notebook was in repair I think you should not discuss about any issue on forums but make a pressure on service and clarify every single problem with your notebook.
Please do this because the warranty is still valid and now is the time to clarify everything.

I am not hardware specialist but it sound to me as some power supply electronic issue but I cannot say for sure. Talk with service. Try to clarify this with them. Be nice, be cool and everything will be ok.

Hi,
I have a dell xps 12, bought in 2012. Recently the battery stopped charging. The battery shows 0%, so I have to be plugged in to turn the laptop on. When it is on, the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, charging" but after a day it is still 0%.
Since then I bought a new battery. Just fitted it, but now the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, not charging". Furthermore, when I Fn+F3 to show the battery meter, it says "battery charging diabled". There is no option here to turn battery charging on. Nor is there an option to enable battery charging in BIOS.
BIOS does show battery performing normally, so does the battery meter (Fn+F3). BIOS also shows AC adapter as 45W, which is the original adapter.
Any help is appreciated!

For some reason my laptop once stopped charging, I tried a few different outlets at a library and non of them made the laptop start charging again (charging = organge light glowing). I got home, and my outlets there didn't work either. THen after a while I tried an outlet again, and it worked. Then this problem occured one more time (then I fixed it somehow). And the last time it occured  I haven't been able to fix it. Trust me I've tried almost everything, I tried turnign it off taking the battery out and holding the powere button then trying to charge it, I tried waiting for hours, but  have not tried a new charger.  So here is the problem I see: I plug in the charger, and the charging LED does not glow, instead it randomly (it seems random) blinks.  I once left my laptop to do that for hours, and it still didn't even charge. Also I can't turn on my laptop without the battery (not sure if thats even possible, as I have not heard it is possible).  I'm going to send it back to Costco soon, but before I do, please help me figure out how to fix it, thanks

Hey,

I just got my computer back from having the motherboard switched out because of another problem, but now my battery will not charge. The light is on and it says it is charging, but it isn't. Should I attempt a gauge reset or something else?

It is a Lenovo y50, which I have had for 3 months. The battery needs to be unscrewed from the back.
Thanks!

Answer:Says plugged in and charging, but is not charging. Just got motherboard fixed.

If it is not charging maybe the battery is defective.
Did they gave you back the original charger?
Did they install another different motherboard which might use a different charger?
You may need to contact the person who repaired it to find out.

Running Windows 7 x64.One of my end users' T410 would say that it was charging, but the battery percentage would never change unless you unplugged it. Then it would get lower, but plugging it in would not recharge the battery. We tried putting her HD in a working T410, but the problem carried over. I ended up giving her a new laptop, but I would like to fix the errant T410 if at all possible. Since the problem carried over with the HD in a working T410, I figured it was a software issue.  Reinstalled Windows. No good.Did a wipe of the HD (everything 0's). Reinstalled Windows. No Good.Booted from Linux liveCD. Charging worked, but once I booted into a fresh copy of Windows, it stopped charging. So it seems that the hardware is capable of charging the battery, but not on a fresh copy of Windows: only Linux. Is there anything else I could try to get it working on Windows? Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Answer:T410 says "battery plugged in, charging" but not actually charging

Hi Hang,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As you are facing the improper charging of battery , in that case you please need to perform the following steps and check  if the issue gets resolved.

Open Lenovo Energy Management
Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.
Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset.
That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle.

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,
Shashi

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Any ideas please, I've run out of google search ideas!!

Thanks for the Help.

Also its a gateway t-6859 laptop.

Answer:Laptop has problems with charging unless I wiggle the charging pin.

how old is the laptop sounds like your ac in port has de-soldered from the psu part of the motherboard. its the most common thing to break on laptops since they get a lot of stress from the cables pulling on them or they are built cheap either way. is is it still in warranty?

Hi, I have an X220 Tablet that's about 3 and a half years old -- so unfortunately just out of warranty -- and I'm having battery/charging problems. A few months ago the original 6-cell battery that came with the laptop died: Power Manager reported it as dead and needing replacing. It had had 500-something cycles, so it seemed reasonable. I went ahead and bought a new 6-cell battery from Lenovo, the 67+, and then my system was fine again. But one day a few weeks ago this battery suddenly stopped charging. Power Manager reported that "The battery is in good condition", and it was reported as "Status: Charging", but it was not actually charging and was instead very slowly discharging its way to 0%. Something suspicious is perhaps that PM reported "Current: 0.00 A". I thought it might be the battery, so I got another one, but that has exactly the same issue -- now I have two batteries, each discharged completely and with no way to charge them. Charging doesn't happen regardless of whether the computer is on or off, or whether I'm in Windows (7) or Linux. I checked the AC adapter/charger with a multimeter and it is reporting 20V as it's supposed to, so I guess that's okay. Plus, the laptop runs fine on just the AC adapter, even if it's a little bit slower (which I gather is due to it being 65W rather than 90W). The only slightly unusual thing I can remember from the day charging stopped functioning is that I was using the 'always on' USB port to charge my ... Answer:Battery not charging despite being reported as good and as charging

It is hard for me to be certain without seeing it, and Sweden is a long way from San Francisco. The symptom point to a blown fuse or power transistor (mosfet). Either can cause your problem, and usually require motherboard replacement. If nothing was going on when the problem started, (no power failure, lightning storm, failure of power adapter, tripping over the cord) I would guess mosfet. Some shops can repair fuses, but they require fairly good soldering equipment. I have had much poorer luck fixing mosfets, because usually, more than one chip is bad. You might be able to find a motherboard for a reasonable price. I have one for sale on eBay for under $100, but international shipping is expensive and you might do better locally. I am not sure how you think we can help without knowing the model or product number. Once we have that we can find the manual which will show exactly how to get to it and what parts you will need. Without it, no way to know.

But cannot fix. Please help.

Answer:Battery stop charging at 45%, plugged in, not charging

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or does it show "unknown"?  F2 at powerup to check.
Is the battery the original one that arrived with the system?

I'm coming through with this issue because I saw so many people (including dell tech support) struggling with this issue before.
The issue is as follows: you connect your laptop to the charger, the charging light goes on, windows says "charging", even the BIOS says charging, and yet, the battery's voltage just keeps going down no matter what you do about it..
Dell tech support usually try to guide you to reset the BIOS battery by removing the main battery and press the power button. but it's not the case here.
The solution I found was a very strange one, changing the RAM slot seemed to solve the issue completely.
Just taking the RAM card from one slot to the other. on one slot it's stopping your laptop from charging, on the other everything is good.
I honestly don't know why that is (and I'm a PC technician myself),  considering the laptop ships with two perfectly good RAM slots, but I thought the solution needs to be out there.
I'm hoping I managed to help some of you, (Even with my less then perfect English) Sapir.

Hi guys, I ran into this problem a few days ago where the laptop is plugged in, it says its charging, but the battery % won't go up at all. It started around 16% and each time I unplugged it for whatever reason it would go down but when I would plug it back in it wouldn't charge it back up. So now I'm at 8% and afraid to unplug it again.  I have the Energy Management set to Balanced, Maximum Battery Life, and it's status is "Charging" and "Good". Any help is appreciated, thank you guys.

Answer:Y510P "plugged in, charging" but battery is not charging

hi kanyewest,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. While having the battery and AC adapter plugged-in, boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2) and unplug the AC adapter until the system shuts off (this is to compete the discharge the battery).

2. Once the machine shuts down, remove and reinsert the battery and plugin the AC adapter then let the battery charge for about 2hrs while the machine is off and observe the battery lifght indicator. After 2hrs, power up the machine and observe the battery percentage.
     - Link to picture

If the battery is stucked at 0%, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings as the battery may need to be replaced.

Hello: Just received a beautiful W530 Laptop - love the T and W versions of this machines. However, with such a large power requirement, want to make sure that I will be able to run and charge the W530 on United Airlines, American Airlines, etc., using the supplied 170 W Power supply...  Please confirm your experience that this will work. Otherwise, using this laptop on long haul flights will not work.

Answer:Charging Battery and powering W530 Laptop with Airline Power and 170W Power Supply

Can someone please help with this question? Hard to believe nobody has taken a W530 laptop on an airplane and whether the power supply operated the laptop (and did or did not charge the battery).  Thanks, greatly appreciate experience here.

So my N21 chromebook seems to have a AC connector issue, most likely on the chromebook itself. as seen in the photo and video, the connector seems very loose, and no light comes on when plugged. it doesnt "click" when plugging in like other laptops, it just "slides" in and slides out very easily https://goo.gl/photos/5jujCxawE3AubxvP7 i tested the AC power adapter (official) with a multimeter while it is plugged into outlet, and it shows 20V which means it SHOULD work ok.  but obviously does not when plugged in, I feel it's very loose and when i looked into replacement AC adapters there seems to be TWO different connector sizes:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-OEM-Lenovo-Chromebook-N21-45W-20V-2-25A-3mm-AC-Adapter-ADLX45DLC3A-...  <-- 3mm X 1mm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Chromebook-N21-Notebook-20V-2-25A-45W-Power-AC-Adapter-Charger-Cable-... <--- 4mm x 1.7mm What I have is the 3mm X 1mm , and i'm thinking it might be NOT charging because it is too loose and not touching. So will buying the 4mm X 1.7mm work as it is "tighter"?  But why is the official one loose?

Answer:Chromebook N21 Power AC Connector , not charging / no power light, loose? Replacement size confusion

I would presume that the power adapter that came with your Chromeboosk is the correct one, which should be part number 5A10H70353 (see link below).      If it was working fine before and just started acting up, it is probably a problem with the jack itself, and not the size of the power plug.     If it is under warranty it would be covered, but if not under warranty, the part needed to fix it is part number 5C10H70350  $12.95 USD and is available from the link below.    If the system is not under warranty, instructions on how to replace the DC-in cable begin on the bottom of page 35 in the Lenovo Cromebook N21 Hardware Maintenance Manual and requires some disassembling of your Chromebootk, but if not comfortable in doing it yourself, it should only take a good laptop tech about an hour to replace. Note:   Before buying an parts, I would recommend that you go to http://pcsupport.lenovo.com, click on the Detect My Serial Number, and then click on the Parts & Accessories link to ensure that the parts you purchase match the exact Machine Type-Model or Machine Type of your system..    5C10H70350 Lenovo Ct Cables Internalhttps://lenovo.encompass.com/item/10633467/Lenovo/5C10H70350/Ct_Cables_Internal 5A10H70353 Lenovo Ad Ac Adaptershttps://lenovo.encompass.com/item/10638409/Lenovo/5A10H70353/Ad_Ac_Adapters Hardware Maintenance Manual Le... Hello, my T500 does not turn on, no lights are lit, battery not charging. I tried to turn in the dock, but nothing. I tried to insert a fully charged battery but nothing too. Will probably be something wrong with the motherboard, maybe some fuse, but do not know where to look. Thanks for help

My YOGA 13 ultrabook had been dropped to hard floor during charging and the charging port has been damaged since it was plugged. So I just ordered the charge port from ebay($19.99) and replaced it. Of course, I have followed the instruction to disassemble it. Now I am so frustrated.. My laptop never get power on after reassemble all the parts. Is it possible that my motherboard got a significant damage when I do soldering charging port? My battery was completely out before fixing it. Better get professional to diagnosis?

Hello, I have a ProBook 640 G1 that will not power on. After pressing the power button, with a battery installed and the AC adapter attached, the Charging LED blinks white 9 times . Unplugging the AC adapter results in 9 amber blinks. The light on the AC Adapter itself remains solid green. With the battery removed, and attached to the AC Adapter, three lights blink continously : The light on the power button (white), the Charging LED (AMBER), and the Power LED (White). The light on the AC Adapter itself remain solid green. In both cases pressing or pressing and holding the power button has no effect. There is no indication that power is actually making in to the MB; no BIOS , nothing at all. I do not have access to another unit with the same battery or AC adapter in order to try swapping those out. Thanks,Shane

So I unboxed my Ideapad Y500 yesterday and it's working wonderfully...that is, everything except my battery. When it was running low at 10% battery life last night I decided to plug in the AC adapter, which, as is normal, caused the battery icon in the corner to read "10% available (plugged in, charging)". However, what's not normal is that when I turned the laptop off and left it to charge overnight, the battery indicator light at the front of the system was still orange/red, occasionally flashing. I turned on my system again to find that my battery life hadn't budged at all despite recognizing that the adapter was plugged in and charging. I know other people have asked about something like this, though most of them say their battery icon reads "plugged in, not charging", so I'm not sure how to solve it. Any help would be appreciated!

Answer:Y500 "plugged in, charging"...but not actually charging?

HiNot sure it is happening but can you try this:remove battery and ac adapter; press and hold the power button for 30-40 seconds and then put it all together. Hope fully it should fix the problem.Regards

To whom it may concern.I am in desperate help..... I have tried every solution i have managed to find on the internet but none of them work. I have a HP ProBook 450 G1 Laptop. When plugging the power supply in the batery shows that its charging but it never actually charges but simply remians on at same level.....I have checked the power supply as I have an exact duplicate laptop at my disposal, same with the battery. The battery charges perfectly in the other laptop but not in my laptop. When swithcing the batteries form the other pc it will not charge in my PC. bot both are fine in the other PC. I have removed the battery, checked power supply, un-installed and reinstalled the ACPI-complaint and adapter as suggested by most. I have done what ever solution i can have managed to find but neither have worked but the battery works  just fine when inserting into the other duplicate laptop and charges fine. I have tried to instal or upgrade BIOS settings etc. Nothing has worked for me! Please can someone point me in the correct direction!!!!!! Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I have a Lenovo G580 laptop. I formatted my system and it was working good but slow before formatting. After formatting i got a status of 49% available(Plugged in, Not Charging). I shut down my system completely and removed the adaptar and found that the battery light is still glowing. I remove the battery and inserted. I still found the battery light is glowing. Then i started the system with adaptar checked status as (plugged in, charging) but the power percentage is not going up. I decided to drain the battery and then check, so i was working without the adaptar & the power drained normally in usual time. Then i plugged in to adaptar and Currently the status is "0% (Plugged in, Charging)"  but its not charging.   Please help.

Answer:G580 Plugged in, charging but not charging

hi Abhijeettiria,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Youre troubleshooting is correct and pointed out the battery.
One last thing you could try is to run the Battery gauge reset via the Lenovo Energy Management software,
If that still gave you the same problem I suggest having the battery Replaced via warranty claim or by purchasing a new battery.

Best regards
Solid Cruver

Hi all,I have a brand new i7 Yoga 13 running windows 8 from Best Buy. As soon as it booted up, I have not been able to charge my battery. As I hover over the icon, it says "Plugged in and Charging" but it does not include a percentage. I have had it plugged in overnight, and if I unplug the computer, it will die immediately. I have tried updating my BIOS, energy managment and setting it to "Maximum battery life," but nothing changes. Thoughts? Thanks

I found out yesterday morning that for some reason, the battery on my laptop isn't charging. I'm staying at my mother's house for the weekend and since then the problem has occured. At home, it always charged properly and never gave me any problems.  Could I need a new battery? I've tried going to Device Manager and uninstalling and re-installing drivers and the whole 9 yards, yet the problem still persists. Thank you in advance

Client's relatively new Yoga 500 is exhibiting a weird problem in Windows 10 anniversary edition. The battery is currently at 47% but keeps flickering between charging and not charging. The icon changes every second, possibly faster. Tried swapping power supplies so it's not that. When first reported, the battery was at 40% but then got to 47% during a reboot. The battery on the Yoga 500 is internal so not possible to try swapping batteries. Any ideas or suggestions?
