Flex 14, touch function

Question: Flex 14, touch function

Hi, I have the Ideapad Flex 14 (first gen), and sometimes when I turn it on, the touch function doesn't work, I can only use the touchpad. But somedays it works fine. I don't remember when this problem started. I don't know why this happens, I need some help, thanks.

Preferred Solution: Flex 14, touch function

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Flex 14, touch function

I have a Flex 15 which also boots without touch screen, However after several minutes, the touchscreen edresponds. I have tried all the suggested tips. USB hub power saver deactivevated in device manager settings, new drivers checked. Even a complete system restore. Nothing. My touchscreen is dead for 5 minutes before it comes on. Frustrated here.

From time to time my flex 2-15 touchscreen triggers touchevents anywhere on the screen repeatedly. They are almost stuck to one place but sometimes seem to move slightly. When this happens there are round about 2-3 events triggered every second at one place. So this failure behaives like double click, which makes it hard to use the Laptop while this failure occurs. It causes windows to minimize and maximize or closes tabs and windows. The behaivour stops as unexpected as it startet. I have no idea what causes the error but it is really annoying. Does anyone else have this problem or any suggestion what could cause it? Of course I cleaned the screen and yes, the error continues after restart. So I am pretty certain it has nothing to do with dirt or any software-problem, as it even occurs on Login-Screen.

Hi Guys, I recently knew from my older brother that there's an option to disabled the touch pad, while using the laptop with the mouse. Because my touch is extra sensitive that when I'm working at times my palm touches it, and it transfers the cursor anywhere. But I like the sensitivity though because when I don't have a mouse, I can tap lightly twice and it opens the files or the links. But since using Fn+F6 for a week, I lost the sensitivity on my touch pad. I need to press hard once to click or open links or files. I tried modifying the touchpad sensitivity option, but no avail. Please help me, I'm a freelance worker and at times I don't work with a mouse.  Thanks,Brent

Anybody have any idea how to get the touch function to work? I have the multitouch/multiview screen (brand new as of yesterday) Thinkpad X61 tablet & can't figure out for the life of me how to get the touch function to work. The stylus pen works fine but I would have bought the superview screen if I knew the touch function on this was this hard to use. I can't find a touch panel settings utility to adjust settings referred to in the manual - anybody have any idea where it might be hiding?

Answer:Mutli-touch screen touch function ?

Never mind about this question. I'm very embarassed to say I just realized I have the SXGA screen, not the MT-MV screen after all. (No, I am not blonde)Message Edited by Leilani on 05-05-2008 09:16 AM edit: In my defense the model I purchased online at the Lenovo Outlet clearly says it was multi-touch-multiview on the specs I downloaded of the particular pre-built machine I selected & put into my cart. The nearly-indecipherable packing list which came with the tablet which was actually shipped to me seems to indicate indicates it is a Superview ("SXGATFT"). YIKES! I guess now I need to investigate what other specs vary.Message Edited by Leilani on 05-05-2008 09:41 AM

Hello everyone, I am flex 2 pro 15 user, and today I got so called "Ghost touch " problem.  As a temporary solution i disabled touchscreen on my display, but I don't know what to do to actually solve this issue.   I had a look to similar problems from other users, and the solution was to update the driver, but I already have the latest driver. I am using windows 10 OS. Those circles appear in the corner of my display, and I can't solve this issue. I tried with restarting/updating... Any ideas for solution?  I still do have warranty for my product, and I live in Brussels, so I guess last solution would be to take it for repair. Thanks in advance,Nikola

2 questions 1)  If your most frequent usage scenario  was  picture editing, video ediitng, and 3x / week  CAD (mostly Google Sketchup) mixed in with normal surfing and occasional game playing, and you had to choose between the Ideapad Y50 15 (not yet available)  vs the Flex 15 sometime this year Which would you choose and why?   Y50 (not yet available)http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y50-touch/#features vs  Flex 15http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/flex/flex-15/  2) Related question... Since I'm really looking for 15" this is not as critical but i'm still curious. Yoga 2  13" (biggest size I think)   vs   Flex 15 What is the main ability you lose or gain when chosing between 1 or the other?  1) Yoga lid goes completely flat against the back, where as the Flex 15 is just almost flat  (?)2) Yoga weighs less3) ?

Hello,

we are interested for a touch screen laptop, but this is more for my wife who is a teacher.
She likes the way our Samsung Note handles the S-pen and she would want to use a simialr pen with the laptop at classes.

Is there such a facility for pens with sharp edges to be used with a Flex for example?
Or we should jsut get those black, rubber, thick capacitive pens?

thanks

Answer:Flex - touch screen Pen/Stylus?

Here is a pen great for writing: http://www.adonit.net/jot/pro/Just search for 'best capacitive stylus' on Google. Pick the one you like mostAre you interested in the ThinkPad 10 perhaps? It has a digitizer pen, it will also disable touch input while the pen is being used. Which is quite useful. It is a small step up to 700 EUR. Also get the keyboard dock.http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/tablets/thinkpad/thinkpad-10/I can say with 100% certainty your wife will love it. I got its more expensive brother the ThinkPad Helix. If a student can love it, so can the teacher right ;-) ?The ThinkPad 10 has many flexible options she might be interested in. You won't find anything better for that price.

Answer:Flex 15 touch screen problem

It might be related to the sleep settings for USB. I don't have my Flex 15 on me currently, however, if you can find the touch panel as a USB device in Device Manager, ensure it and the parent hubs are not on power saving modes as per the below post:

Hi all, I've owned my Flex 5 for a little under a month now. Truh be told, so far I haven't really used the touch screen, save for on the first day when I was doodling a bit using the pen. Today, I touched the screen quite by accident, and then realised I didn't get any response, so I tried again, only to realize, the touch screen is fully unresponsive. I checked the device manager. it says it's functioning properly.. I checked the website and everything is up to date driver wise. I disabled/enabled/uninstalled, restarted the HID complient touch screen, all to no avail. I'ts true I rarely use the touch screen feature so far, but it sucks to know that in a little under a month, I'm having issues with this feature already. I even went so far as to reset my computer, on the off chance there was some issue/bug. No change. Has anyone had such an issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My Ideapad Flex 15 had a Windows 10 update a couple of weeks ago. A week to 10 days later, I discovered that my touch screen was no longer working.

I've checked the Device Manager control panels and drivers and everything is up to date.
I did the uninstall of the HID-Compliant Touch Screen Device & Reboot that is noted elsewhere on the Lenovo Search Results and that simply re-installed the device which still didn't work.

At one point I was able to access an update log, which said that the Windows update was done, but below this showed that the update had deleted 2 Lenovo Systems Driver Packages.  Should Windows remove stuff that the MFR included to run the computer??  (Of course once this info window closed, I haven't been able to get it back again either.)

Has anyone else had a similar issue or have a solution??
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Hello, my Flex-15's touch screen is acting up. In short, it's working, it registers, and such, and it actually works in applications such as browsers, or games. It doesn't work on the task bar, however. And when I go to Start it -kind of- responds, but very haltingly. Does anyone know what's causing it/have a solution to this? I already tried cleaning the screen and restarting. The issue began, in fact, after I turned it on after having it turned off for ~15 hours.

Hi - I have not used my Lenovo on over a year and even then it was new only 3 mos.  I can't get the touch keyboard to popup when the laptop is in stand mode.  The screen itself is working fine when I touch it, but O can't type anything.  Is there something wrong or do I need to manually turn it on?  If I remember correctly, it should automatically popup in that mode.  Please help.  It is probably an easy fix, I just can't remember how to use it.  Thanks!

Hi, i had my motherboard replaced due some manufacturing fault. When i got my laptop back it wasnīt working quite well so i decided to reinstal operating system. I used Backup button and restored my laptop to initial settings. This got me properly working laptop with win 8.1. Afrer i upgraded to win 10 my touch screen stoped working so i did a little research and found some topics with similar problems but any of those  didnīt solve my problem. ? This is screenshot of my deice manager, that unknown USB is my touch screen ( it says: unknown USB device (descriptor request failed)). I tried uninstal this driver, when i do that my touch screen starts working for like 3 seconds and than it stops working again. By the way this is rare to see box called HID in my device manager usually it doesnīt even show up. I tried update drivers through windows update. That didnīt change a thing so i update almost every driver manually (i download all of them from official lenovo support site) . And guess what, that did not worked eather. I am not sure which other solution i tried, because am trying to solve this problem for quite long time, but i feel like i tried everything (even reinstaling win 10) and didnīt even get close to solving this issue.Do you have some idea how to solve this problem?Sorry for grammar mistakes.

I bought Lenovo flex 4 80VE000FUS, I observed small sound when I tap on touchpad, I can observe this working in a silent room. Seems there is a space between the electronics beneath the surface.  When tapping the surface there is a clicking sound produced. Can this be normal in all flex 4 or is this problem with mine.

Hi, just recently, without any changes to the laptop, my touchscreen stopped functioning. I tried all available tricks - ie. uninstalling HID drivers etc. but no change. Can you help? Lubos

Answer:Lenovo Flex 15 touch screen

hi Lubos,

Welcome to the Forums

If the OS is not detecting the Touchscreen functionality of the machine (like in this image), can you consider one of the following:
1. Hold the Shift Key and restart the machine to boot into the System Recovery Options screen. Once there, try to select any of the options by touching the screen and observe.
2. Shutdown the machine, press the OneKey Recovery button and select System Recovery. On the recovery menu, try to select any of the options by touching the screen ando bserve..
   - Link to picture

If the Touchscreen still doesn't work on one of the options above then it's likely that the digitizer have gone faulty and you need to contact lenovo for service.

Otherwise, if the Touchscreen is working then consider doing a System Restore or System Recovery to isolate the issue on the OS level.

Answer:Flex 5 Touch screen not working

I've had this issue as well. It's not an isolated incident. There are hundreds of posts online related to Lenovo Flex 5-1750 (80XB) talking about how the touch screen has stopped working. It happened to me after I had this device for less than a month. I was unable to update the driver. Even with a tech support person from Lenove we could not solve the issue. So I was told to return the laptop because it's a hardware issue that they need to fix. Yesterday I wrote in another post and said that Lenovo needs to make a driver available so that people can re-install it. Well, it seems like that's just what they did because this morning I've been able to update the driver and the touch screen is back. Windows 10 was able to troubleshoot and apply a driver update. This may or may not work for your situation but the problem is real.

Dear Community, since a few days I have several problems with the hardware keyboard of my notebook. The on-screen keyboard works well! When I hit spacebar no blank is inserted in the text but all open tasks are opened in small windows (similar to pressing ALT+TAB, but with the task windows staying on screen). It is also not possible to use the Function keys (Increase / decrease brightness, loudness doesn't work) or to use the F-keys (ALT+F4 for example has no function). I opened a few websites, which visually show, which keys are pressed on the keyboard. All standard letter-keys work well. When I press F1 it says "F5", some F-Keys are shown as normal numbers or a letter. I am running Win10 with automatic updates. I tried to restore some older update-points but without having the problem solved. I tried to reinstall touchpad and keyboard drivers -> no results! There is maybe a problem with the keymapping or somekind of driver, which is perhaps not 100% compatible with some OS changes or updates?! Would like to hear any hints or solutions. Kind regardsHergesheim

I'm working on a couple month old IdeaCentre Flex 20. The touchscreen apparently quit working around the time they did the Windows 8.1 update. Going to the Device Manager, I can see the HID Sensor Collection is not working and get the followign message about it: This device cannot start. (Code 10)Failed to query and parse initial HID feature report from device. I'm also seeing one another error in the  Device Manager: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)A request for the USB device descriptor failed. Doing some Google searches yielded surprisingly little. One suggestion I came across was to uninstall the HID Sensor Collection driver and then reboot. This worked for one individual with and didn't for others, including me. I tried this with and without rebooting with no positive results. Has anyone had a similar issue with the HID Sensor Collection and been able to resolve it? Thanks!

Answer:Touch screen not functioning on IdeaCentre Flex 20

Not accuainted with your unit but my units touch screen is a usb unit so that may be so with yours thus your usb problem .. you probably knew that .. did you try to update the driver to the touch in device manager and let it search online?  You might also remove driver and let it search online if you haven't tried it. If you can identify the maker of the touch screen they may have a driver or help. Lenovo doesn't seem interested in drivers .. beenhoping for one for mine for over a year.

I've just recently bought my son a Flex 2-14 which he thinks is great. However today the mouse pad stopped working which has put a downer on a new and smart laptop. As I'm a windows and laptop user myself, I've checked the driver, ensured that it's enabled, checked to ensure that it's the latest version, made sure that it's toggled on from a keyboard perspective. However it refuses to recognise any physical interaction. As the screen is touch sensitvie and the USB mouse is working fine we can get away with this. But really why is it not working? The only thing I can guess is that as you turn the screen and keyboard around to into touch screen mode the hardware recognises this and disables the mouse pad. It looks to me that it's now stuck in this mode which is really frustrating. It;s getting to the point that I might aswell take it back as it's not fit for purpose. Any help would be very much appreciated as anything I try to do does not solve the problem?

Hello; I purchased 2 Flex 3 laptops a few weeks ago.  One of them had an intermittent touchscreen problem.  It boiled down to a USB driver issue.  In the Device Manager under USB Controllers I got a yellow Triangle with an exclamation next to "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".  If I disabled and then enabled that driver the touchscreen would start working.  I ended up returning that laptop thinking it was just a faulty unit, but today my 2nd Flex 3 did the same thing.  As far as I know all my drivers are updated an I'm running Windows 10. I don't really want to have to disable and enable drivers every other day so I'm wondering if anyone has come across this issue and if so if there is a fix. Attached is a screenshot of the Device Manager.

Hi I purchased the Flex 10 netbook a couple of weeks ago, and really like it. Within a day or 2 of purchase I updated it to Win 8.1 (the vendor said it was compatible). However the touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive after about 10 - 15 mins of routine activity. The only way to regain function is to reboot. It's very annoying ! I have updated to most recent drivers from Lenovo site but to no avail. I only have a very limited selection of software installed (Chrome, Firefox, Logitech Media Server, Foobar2000, LastFM desktop client & Open Office 4.01). Maybe this model is not compatible with Win 8.1 ? Can anyone advise me here ? It would be a real pain to have to RMA this as it's otherwise a great little netbook, and perfect as a low power music server for my Logitech Squeezebox players. Thanks

Answer:Flex 10 touch screen becomes unresponsive after 10-15 mins !

I also have this issue where the touchscreen stops working after some usage, reboot helps so I guess it must be a driver issue. I also upgraded the machine to windows 8.1. I have been thinking to upgrade all available drivers so far I have only upgraded the wireless adapter driver. I tried to get Miracast (wireless display) to work and I did get it to work. I have also noticed that the screen starts to blink sometimes after using netflix and exiting. -Tom

My Lenovo Flex 15D had been working fine, until I upgraded to win 10.  The touch screen ceased to work.  I then read a post somewhere that said that the hardware was not compatible with win10. I tried to return to win8.1 but by this time was beyond the 1 month roll back time.  I tried to reinstall some drivers and completely killed the machine, it wouldn't boot up properly but as it hung on a black screen, i was able to back up the files remotely. Then did a system reset - but the touchscreen still is not working.  'hiD compliant touch screen' I have uninstalled from device manager - it is reinstalled on boot up but still no touch screen.  Any ideas about how to restore the touch screen capability...

Several days ago my touch screen stopped working completely. I have restarted the computer.I cleaned the screen.I tried to recalibrate the pen and touch settings but it doesn't respond to any touch.I deleted the touch driver and reinstalled it. Also, it says in the device manager that this device is working properly. It has been working perfectly for about 9 months.  There hasn't been any big updates that I know of.   What other things could I try?

Answer:Flex 2 14 windows 8.1 Touch Screen not working

hi ericcharles,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:

Option 1::
1. Hold the Shift key and restart the machine.
2. When the machine reboots to the System Recovery Options, try to tap the screen and observe.

Option 2:
1. Shutdown the machine and press the OneKey Recovery button.
  - Link to picture
2. On the System Recovery menu, tap any option and observe.

If none of the above options work then I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk and report your findings as you likely need to send the unit for service.

Answer:flex 10 keyboard and touch screen issues

For the touch screen problem, it's an known issue.See here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Edge-Yoga-Lavie-Z-Flex/Flex-10-touch-screen-becomes-unresponsive...Go to the comment of zack25, it's the solution. For the other problem, I don't know, it looks more complicated, and worrying. It could be a hardware problem, maybe a bad wiring ?

I got my Yoga 2 11 in February. It worked beautifully until about a month ago. Suddenly, the touch screen quit working. At first, it would occassionally turn back on, but eventually even that quit. I didn't load any new software, nor were there any updates done. Now, under PC Info, it says "No Pen and Touch input is available for this display." I've tried every suggestion I could find from turning off power settings to downloading a graphics driver, which my system couldn't run. Nothing has worked. All I have now is a small laptop! Any new suggestions?

Hello everyone. I must say that it is a lovely laptop but the touch screen issue is making me very upset. I called  Lenovo and Microsoft support and those people doesn't even have a bit of knowledge. Many incertain process and lot of doubts in them. But it can't be a hardware problem. I bought it 1 week ago and when I opened the factory sealed box the touch screen worked perfectly! And a few hours later would stop working. No pen and touch input available, no hid compliant touch screen in device manager. I read almost every thread about this complain in this forum. Tried everything without success. The laptop is 99% good.. But without the touch screen is like trash. Hope someone can understand and if there's a solution, please tell me and I beg you send me specifics links or specifics procedures, please don't tell me "go to support.lenovo.com"  or "do a system recovery or windows 10 update", etc. Thank you.

Answer:Flex 20 touch screen clicking by itself after windows 8.1 update

Hi cheehong,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Most of these cases are hardware, But there are steps you can still try.

1. Perform a Power Drain
Unplug all power source. Hold the power button down for 10-15 sec
reconnect the Power and Turn it back on check if the Problem is resolved.

2. Recalibrate the touch
        here's how

If still The same, I stroubly suggest you contact Lenovo technical Team for assistance.

I have Ideapad Flex 14 Ideapad S100 with Windows 10 having latest updates. A few days ago I had realized that thouch screen doesn't work any more. After consultation with Lenovo Turkey, which was insisting on recovery, I recovered my ideapad turning back to an image taken by Win10 two months ago. This step did not help. Some how next day after recovery in the morning it worked only for a few hours then stopped working again. I tried to disable and enable the "HID-compliant device" or other relaten USB items and reinstalled/activated, it did not help.I hope it is a software/driver failure and this problem will be solved soon by Lenovo.

Hello, I bought a brand new Lenovo Flex 2 15.6" laptop today. Started using it and realized a bizarre problem with the touch screen. I can't swipe in from the left or right side to open up the charms bar, and when I open the desktop feature, the touch screen won't allow me to click on icons. Strangely, when I open a browser inside the desktop, I can click on web links fine with the touch screen, but anything outside the browser doesn't work. I was so excited to use my new laptop and now I am just frustated. Any help is appreciated!

Answer:Touch screen problem on brand new Lenovo Flex 2 15"

My wife's brand-new christmas Lenovo Flex 2 15 had the exact same problem. After spending a huge amount of time googling around and then waiting on the phone to talk to a lenovo person for a long time I finally got a solution. Try it, it might work for you and it certainly didn't hurt anything. Here's how you do it:(1) Shutdown the unit (not restart). When shutdown the power button should have not light on.(2) Unplug the power supply from the wall AC and wait 30 seconds.(3) Get a ball-point pen.(4) Plug in the power supply into the wall AC. You should see a little tiny led light to the right of the powere button (towards the screen hinged).(5) Poke that LED reasonably hard with the ball-point pen with constant pressure for at least 5 seconds. This is somekind of motherboard hard reset.(6) Release the presssure, remove the ball point pen.(7) Press the power button  and power it up.(8) AT THIS POINT THE PROBLEM WAS COMPLETELY FIXED FOR ME. HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU, TOO.

Hello. I have a friend who has upgraded her Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. We're not sure if the upgrade broke the touch screen or whether it wasn't working beforehand. We've tried various things to get it to work, including the item here...https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/ht104469... and we've tried disabling the option to 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in the HID USB devices. Actually, there is a device "HID compliant touch screen" that appears to be working correctly, and we get the keyboard symbol in the system tray, so the computer seems to be seeing the touch screen okay - it just doesn't work at all. My friend phoned Lenovo, who took the machine details and advised her two things...1. Gave her a link to try for drivers from the Lenovo website. The link appeared to be for AMD drivers and was for the Flex 15D computer - not very impressive.2. Told her if this didn't work (and I'm fairly sure it wouldn't) to revert back to Windows 8.1 - also not very impressive. What to do now I wonder? Thanks for reading this, and for any help you might be able to give.

I downgraded a Flex 3-1130 from Windows 10 to Windows 7 32 bit. I was able to get all the devices working except the touch screen. It worked in Win10, but cant get it going in Win7. There are zero 32 bit Win7 drivers on the support page for this product, I had to get each and every device working by searching the internet, a tiresome task. In the device manager, there are no HID pointing devices to enable. I tried installing the touch pack for windows 7 from Microsoft, and it failed, and tells me that I need a computer with a touch screen. There are however (3) unknown devices in the device manager, all with the same hardware ID.... ACPI\808622C1 When I search google for the hardware ID above I get that this ID may be associated with Intel(R) Serial IO I2C ES Controller driver, however when I look that up, it seems the closest thing to that is the IntelŪ Processor I/O Controller Driver for Windows 7. When I install that, it does not do the trick. I also use the unhide feature in device manager, and there are no HID pointing devices. I dont think it is a BIOS issue, because the touch screen works in Windows 10. I also tried the intel driver update utility and some driver support software, nothing found it. Nor did windows update. I would appreciate any ideas how I can get this working.

So last night I came home from dinner and my laptop was on the floor. It's fallen off my bed before so I didn't think much of it until I turned it on and it didn't respond to my touch. After some investigation, everything that has to do with the touch screen is gone. There are no setting on the laptop for the touch screen and there is no way to calibrate the screen. I'd like to try and avoid factory resetting the laptop as I do not have a way to backup my system right now. (My family member who helped me with this in the past lives in another state now) I also noticed that the computer itself didn't pick up the serial number... I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem but it was very off that the setting said the serial number was invalid. I called the support line (the only one I could find was the premium line, what happened to the old one???) and they wont do anything unless I sign up for their monthly package or pay $130 (plus tax I'm sure) to let them remote control my laptop. I've had bad experienced with this and so I'm not going to allow them to do this. Is there any way to download a driver or something that would fix this problem? I have full access to my computer (besides what lenovo has blocked me out of automatically) so let me know if there is something I could look at and show you for more information. I've tried to search for this topic and couldn't find anything related to this. Thanks for the help.Kass.

The touchscreen on my Flex 15 stopped working. I am not sure exactly when, but in the last few months.  I am already on Win10, and it has worked fine since the Win10 upgrade over a year ago.  In Device Manager, I can see the HID Touch Screen entry.  I tried uninstalling and deleting it, followed by a restart.  Reinstalled itself on start-up, but no joy.  It claims to be working.   I have seen other similar posts saying to delete entries under Mice... but I don't see any Touch Screen entries there.Interestingly, I see most of the drivers have Event dates of 2-Jul 2017, saying "Device migrated". I am suspecting some delightful Micorsoft "improvement" on that date may have been the cuplrit, but I also feel like the touch screen may have been working after that date.  Unfortunately, I don't use the touch screen very often, but I DO need it now and then. Thoughts?

Hi guys! The touch keyboard of my Flex 2 14 does not automatically appear when clicking on text fields in tablet/flex mode. However, it works on windows apps like One Note. Hi there, I'm hoping that I can get some help - in very simple terms.  I am a little confused and intimidated by all things "computer".  I just received the IdeaPad flex 15 with windows 8 for Christmas.  I was slowly getting things set up when my cursor froze... for like 20 minutes, I couldn't be patient any longer so I tapped it with my finger, hoping to get it to reset. It did not, it disappeared and somehow disabled my touch pad.  I have tried the FN keys like suggested in other posts and google searches, I have restarted the computer countless times... When I look under the control panel - mouse - hardware - nothing is listed??  I don't want to do anything else to ruin my new computer but I want to get this fixed so I can have a fully functioning laptop, not just a touch screen. Thanks in advance for any help or direction.Much appreciated.

My touch screen stopped working in early October without myself doing any changes that I'm aware of. The Windows Anniversary update came at that time and might be involved. In the Device Manager, there is no touch screen under "Mice and other pointing devices". There is a "HID compatible touch screen" under HID, which I've tried to disable and to uninstall. It comes back after reboot, but still no function. It could of course be a hardware problem, but it's usually not.... /Andreas

Hi all,

i just purchased a new Lenovo Flex 2-15D Laptop for my Child.

I just started it an on the right side of the screen there are some points on the screen where the screen is brighter flickering. It looks as the screen is registering input touches, even if there are none.

In fact, working with the device is only possible if i'm switching thr touch device off in the Device manager in windows, otherwise the lapttop closes windows and is doing some other nonsense.

The same trouble comes up after upgrading on windows 10.

Is there anyone could help with tht issue, please?

Thank you very much indeed!

Best regards

Hello all,      So I bought a Flex 3-1120 a while back and decided to install Linux on it. I had some compatibility issues so I reverted back to Windows last night. Now that I have Windows everything works fine except the touchscreen doesn't work at all. There's nothing in the "Device Manager -> Human Interface Devices" except for something called "GPIO Laptop or Slate Indicator Driver". I've read there should be some kind of touch screen driver there. Anyone know how to get my touch screen up and running? Thanks so much!     David  Edit: I should mention I've tried automatically searching for new drivers and I've tried installing assorted drivers I found through the Lenovo webite.

Hello, I have had my Lenovo Flex 4-1470 laptop for about half a year now, have always taken careful precaution when carrying it, etc. Recently, Upon touching the touchscreen on the right side and bottom of the screen, I am experiencing these "ghost" or "phantom" touches where I touch that part of the screen and it presses on a random part of the screen. The middle and left sides of the screen do not seem to be affected, however, the top of the screen seems to refuse to calibrate to my finger correctly despite calibrating the screen many times. I have updated the touchscreen driver to find that I already have the best and newest version so that cannot be my issue. I have seen that this was a common issue on the Yoga 3-14, and that there was a firmware fix to this... So far the only "fix" I have seen to this issue is disabling the touchscreen altogether, but I bought this laptop specifically for the touchscreen capabilities. I have not physically damaged the laptop, so I am curious on why this is happening.  Is there a firmware fix or something to that extent or will I have to send the laptop to Lenovo and get it repaired? Any Help would be appreciated --Kaitlyn

Answer:Lenovo Flex 4-1470 Auto touch/Ghost touches issue

Hi there, Kaitlyn         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Ghost touches on the screen are most of the time caused by a faulty digitizer (this is the touch screen panel that enables touchscreen functionality) or the Touch panel module (LED panel w/ Touch).

Can you try the following?

Under theDevice Manager> Human Interface Devices, can you do a right click and disable on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).

When finished, reboot the system and observe if you still get the same issue.

Update us how it goes.

NEVER buy a Lenovo  I just bought a brand new Flex laptop from the Microsoft Store.  A MAJOR PROBLEM for those who use the touchpad.  It doesn't allow the user to turn off the drag in the mouse buttons (only).  When I use the touch pad, i move the cursor (for example to select a radial button).  However when I go to click on the left or right mouse buttons on the touch pad it's so sensitive to movement that it moves the curosor away from the radial button. There should be a way to map the touch pad.  Lenovo blames the software and the touchpad company.  Yet they chose this touchpad.  I need support from one company.  They sent me to talk with the touchpad company.  Sorry.  It's your Laptop Lenovo.  To add to Lenovo's problem, their support is in India and it is almost impossible to understand the support person or their supervisor.

My touch screen function stopped working about a year after buying this laptop. One day it was working fine, and the next it just stopped working.
I have spent hours on google trying to find a solution to this issue and nothing seems to be working. In fact, under system information, it says 'No Pen and Touch Input is available for this display.' when I know full well I've been using the touch screen function for over a year just fine.
I have another laptop, same make and model just bought it 3 months later. I've been to the Device Manager under Human Interface Devices where it is supposed to have 'HID Compliant touch Screen' there is nothing there that has anything to do with a Touch Screen.
Can someone please help me with this? I payed for the touch screen function and Its driving me nuts to not be able to use it.

Hello I have a dell 14 5000 5459 and I want to activate the touch screen but not 'how. If someone knows a solution very grateful in advance.Greetings.

Answer:How to enable the touch function?

It will be active by default - no intervention or activation necessary.
If it's not, open PC Settings, then This PC and System - check to see whether a touch panel is listed.  If it's not, and it's never worked, the system doesn't have a touchscreen.  If the touchscreen did work at some point, but isn't now -- and no changes were made (i.e., the OS wasn't reinstalled), then chances are the touch panel has failed.

Not all Z3-710 models have a touchscreen. Can you shoot me a private message with your serial number so I can verify that your specific model supports that feature?

The touch function keys are much more difficult to use than the mechanical keys on previous models. You have to be accurate, you have to watch, you have to touch for long enough.  And the adaptive smarts often replace the function keys with other keys at the wrong time.  The Thinkpad X1 Carbon Touch would be perfect if it had mechanical function keys.

Here's the problem. On 21 June 2011, my laptop was infected with a malware called "Mal_Otorun1". I have trend micro security and only trend micro security and it kept popping up every couple of seconds to warn me of the otorun1 affecting two files in my system called D:/autorun.inf and R:/autorun.inf and that the threat had been removed. After I closed the warning, it still pops up seconds later to inform me about the same threat in the same file. It has been doing so for almost half an hour and stopped after i installed windows defender from the net. When i review the log of trend security (clocking in to 824 threats stopped, in total), i found out that one of the infection was a trojan horse virus with the signature "TROJ_GEN.R4FB1CI", probably downloaded from the malware, and three cookie with the signature "Cookie_2o7" which affected the following three files: "serving-sys.com", "2o7.net" and "msnportal.112.2o7.net". Trend security removed every threat except the trojan virus and only denied it's access. Three days later, I slowly lost function of my right button touch pad, and now it's gone completely. Through advice from the net, I downloaded malewarebytes and did a full scan and found two "Trojan Agents" in my registry values, I removed the trojan virus and restart my laptop but the right button function is still lost. I am out of idea and here i am posting here, please help. My laptop is... Read more

Hi, I have a lenovo M92z touchscreen all in one computer with Windows 7 64-bit. I have updated the bios to the latest version (9NKT73A). It is about 5-7 years old and no longer under warranty. I have tried:installing this touchscreen driver (http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds029324)using the windows troubleshooterusing the device manager to scan for hardware changessearching the device manager for a HID-compliant Touchscreen (it is not there)Windows UpdatesTurning off Tablet PC Components Windows features and then turning them back on after a restart.Flashing the Bios to the current version aboveI'm at a loss. I didn't think the touchscreen hardware would go bad before the other components so I'm very much inclined to think it is somehow software related. It acts as though it never has had touch functionallity. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
