Preferred Solution: hi, i have lenovo B50-70 notebook. sound is not audible through headphone but speakers are working.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: hi, i have lenovo B50-70 notebook. sound is not audible through headphone but speakers are working.

Hi Vinod1,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with not audio in your Lenovo B50-70 laptop.

Connect an earphone to your system right click on the speaker icon in the task bar select playback devices option and check if the earphones are visible. If yes select the earphone and make it default.

If the installed driver is Conexant then selects Conexant smart audio and select audio director under this option select multi streaming option and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

Best regards,

I do not recieve any sound from my laptop. The only device that's enabled is the Digital Audio (S/PDIF), there is no speakers device/icon available for me to select. No sound comes if I play anything with out headphones, and with headphones, still no sound.

X220 tablet (about 2.5 yrs old, out of warranty) was working completely fine last night; this morning, no sound is coming from the laptop, either through speakers or through headphones (audio jack).  I am, however, able to get sound through a bluetooth-connected speaker. I had hoped this was a software issue.  Tried uninstalling/installing all sound devices, updating BIOS, updating drivers, system restore to previous date, rebooting a million times, etc.  No joy. When I run the sound troubleshooter, it says that no speaker, headset, or headphone appears to be plugged in.  The sound icon has a little red circle/white X next to it.  When I try to plug in headphones, nothing happens -- does not seem to detect the event.  When I press the mute and volume buttons on the tablet, no response. Also, under Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers, it lists only "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" and "Intel Display Audio".  I don't think either of these is the normal X220 audio driver, is it?  What else should be there?  I downloaded the Conexant Audio Software from Lenovo's site (this is what came up when I searched for audio drivers for the X220 tablet), and tried to install it, but halfway through, it said the install failed because it couldn't locate the device for the driver. This sounds like it's a hardware problem -- any way to verify?  Also, which piece of hardware exactly?  Is it the sound card ... Answer:X220 tablet - sound suddenly stopped working from speakers and headphone (but not bluetooth)

If it doesn't appear in the device manager, it sounds to me like the sound chip (codec) or some support chip has died. I'm not sure how exact you want the answer to be. I think on that model, the codec is a Conexant 20672. If I am correct, the normal fix is to replace the motherboard. Many x220 machines are still under warranty. If yours is, now would be a good time to use it. You can check here:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?

Last night my computer was producing sound just fine. This morning it stopped! It's not a speaker issue as they work fine with another computer. No changes were made to the system so I don't know why this would happen all of a sudden. I uninstalled all of the drivers. When the computer somes back on they are re-installed. I also downloaded and intalled the Realtek driver R266. I had had an older version of this driver. The speakers are turned up and are set for maximum sound in the volume mixer. If I play something it is barely audible if my ear is right next to the speaker. I checked the device manger and did have two devices so I disabled one. Everything looks like the sound should be blaring but I get only the faintest sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This happend recently and didn't happen before. I have tried multiple headphones, all to the same effect. I am thinking this is a hardware issue. Does anybody have any solutions to fix?

Did you downgrade to XP or upgrade to Vista? Mute can get stuck if an OS has been changed.

Go into the Windows Volume Control, then click MUTE. Click MUTE again to unmute.

I just bought a X1 carbon. When I plug in the headphone, there is no sound from it. And the system shows that the headphone is not plugged in, even if I did.  The Realteck manager didn't detect the device either.   I've tried to update the sound driver, but this didn't work. What should I do? Many thanks.

Hi, A few weeks ago i got my new Satellite M60.
Sound on laptop-speakers is great (Harman/Kardon) but is it possible there is a problem with the mini-jack for the headphone?
Sound via headphone is very week and i can't find how to improve it.
I often used my previous laptop to see movies on my TV (S-video + mini-jack for sound to AV-receiver). Sound was great... but now, when i connect my AV-receiver (or headphone) sound is very low...
Who could help me?

- I tried different headphones (who work fine on other laptops)
- I know about the sound-level wheel in front of the laptop :-)
- I tried the volume control tool in control panel

Answer:Satellite M60: Low sound on Headphone (perfect sound on speakers)

Hi Mark

Did you check the headphones settings in the ?sound and Audio devices??
Please go to ?Control Panel?-?Sound and Audio Devices?. In the ?Volume? tab you will find the ?Advanced? button. Press it.
There you will find volume controls. Please check if all controls are set to high.
Hope is helps.

I have a Windows XP SP3 PC. The sound is only comming out from the headphone and not the PC speaker. However, the "beep" sound works when I am in safemode (The beep warning sound). Also in BIOS, when I hold the f8 key to enter safe mode, the beep sound works. Weird. I have removed Norton and reinstalled the sound driver to no avail (sound does not work even with Norton uninstalled). I have also re-flashed the BIOS as well.

Dell Inspiron E1705
Windows XP SP3
Norton Internet Security 2011
ATI X1400 graphic card

Answer:Sound only from headphone but not speakers

The beep is coming from the internal speaker, not the external speakers.

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

I have got problem with sound in Vista Home Premium. My laptop works perfect till yesterday since I have bought it. Yesterday, I put it into sleep mode and after it resumed, sound is gone either from notebook speakers or the headphone. I checked installed windows update and uninstall them. Moreover, I also make system restore to the day before yesterday. I have already uninstall and reinstall the sound driver (Realtek HD Audio) but the sound is not coming yet. No yellow ? in device manager and everything seems to work. It looks like speakers are working since I can hear some noise whenever it is supposed to make sound. My sound driver is up to date.

My notebook specification are as follows:
Toshiba Satellite A205-S5859
Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 (pre-installed in the notebook)
Realtek HD Audio driver for Sound
Toshiba Software Modem

Hope what I have posted have enough information. Please give me some good advise to bring my sound back.

I have the Inspiron 5755, Windows 10, 2T HD, 12 GB of ram, 64 bit.  A few days ago, a message started popping up on my screen saying that I plugged in a device, and then immediately it would say I had unplugged a device and it would do that over and over.  Now I cannot hear anything from the speakers, but I can through my headphones.  Every now and then I can hear from the speakers for a few minutes.  I have tried about every suggestion that was posted about this problem on the internet, with no luck.  Yes my drivers are up to date.  Any suggestions?  I've only had this since December 2015.  Thank you for any help!
Someone said I could use external speakers but am not not sure what kind to use.

Hello,I have had an issue with my laptop audio for a while.when I plug in my headphones, the sound came through both headphone and speakers.I have installed latest audio drivers from hp website, but headphone does not shows up neither in playback devices nor in device manager, under audio input and outputs. How can I manage this issue in order to get the sound from the headphones only?

Answer:sound come through both headphone and speakers

Hello @alirezab92,  Try this first : 1. Go into Control Panel, then Sound.2. Look for the Recording tab.3. Select your microphone/headset as the default device, and press OK. If these steps do not work then, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver.Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below.http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe  If this does not work, and you still hear audio from both the speakers and your headphones, please follow the next step. The next step will be to run a diagnostic program Using Automated Troubleshooting (Windows 8). This should help with the audio out issue.    Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again !!  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

hey guys!! so a week ago i was listen to music and that no problem, then that night i ran a windows update to update my whole laptop!! so i did it and when i woke up my sound was gone, from both my speakers and my headphone jack. i still have sound when i plug it into my TV with an HDMI cable, but that is all!! i have tried going one version back on my software and also re-downloading the software. so i am not sure what the problem is anymore. pls help guys!!

Answer:No sound from speakers or headphone port

Check start/control panel/sound.
Make sure the right output device is set as default.
Updating sound drivers can the default device to change,
especially considering that your video card has onboard sound.
That is probably why you have audio on the HDMI.

This is a problem that has happened twice before. At first I thought it was a fluke, but now I'm very concerned. Restarting my computer, or trying to go back to recovery a week ago has worked, but I don't know what's causing the problem. I get no sound whatsoever from any app, player, window, etc. I just downloaded the latest audio driver, but that did nothing.

Answer:No sound from speakers or headphone jack

if recovering via restarting or recovering the system helps then its for sure not a hardware issue. Any application which you installed could have cause this issue? What machine are you on btw?

Answer:Sound issue on speakers/headphone

Hello. Download and install a fresh copy of the Realtek audio driver. If doing that doesn't fix the problem, switch to the windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked .7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, sometimes you have to restart, sometimes not.[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]
If the headphones still don't work after doing that, it is because of hardware failure.

Hi,

I have a dual boot of Fedora and Windows, and when I boot into Fedora, my headphones work fine. When I boot into Windows 7 64bit, my headphones don't work. My laptop speakers work fine however, and I tried re-installing drivers. I made sure that my headphones are the default playback device, and I only have one headphone jack.

Other people who had this issue solved it by replacing their audio jack, but for me that is not a problem because the audio jack works fine when I boot into Fedora.

Please help!

Janac

Answer:Laptop speakers working, but headphone jack not working only on Window

Normally, the "Speakers" (PC sound) is set as the Default Playback device and not Headphones. In fact, newer RealTek sound systems do not even show the Headphones when plugged in.

Are you using the correct sound drivers? Not the generic Windows installed High Definition Audio Codec.

What all is listed in the Device Manager, Sound section?

I recently had a computer problem and brought it to a computer store to get it fixed. They erased most of my stuff but fixed it.

Well my sound seems to come out through my speakers and headphones. In volume control the wave seems to affect my volume. If I have volume control muted, and the wave unmuted and high, volume WILL come out. This is verrrry confusing to me.

I dont know if its my audio driver problem.I have conexant HD-audio smartaudio 221 according to device manager.I tried updating the driver but it ended up removing it and saying NO AUDIO DEVICE.I tried rollbacking but it didnt work so i system restored back to the beginning.

So now I am unable to play videos or games because its too loud in my house. Can anyone explain what wave means, suggest the proper sound audio device, explanation as to why sound comes through both speakers and headphones,etc..

Im not really good with tech stuff too and cant be forced to go back to the computer store.I think I fixed this myself last time but forgot what I did.

Btw I have a Compaq Presario C700 Notebook Windows XP

Sorry for the wall of text

Answer:Trouble with sound card/headphone/speakers.

I believe the 'wave' option is used when you're playing music, e.g. different volume control than normal system volume. It sounds like it's working like it's meant to.

What's the problem exactly? The sound doesn't work? Is too soft? Is too loud? Just post your exact problem please

Hi All, I have a HP ENVY Notebook - 17-k200na which runs Windows 10 with Beats Audio As of last night the laptop is refusing to play any sound via the built in speakers.Headphones work fine (both Bluetooth and wired) and it seems that the PC isn't recognising that the headphones have been removed. I'm not sure if its caused by a hardware or software issue. I have updated, uninstalled and reinstalled the sound drivers to no avail.  When searching this issue online most people advise a work around, in which in the playback devices settings you disable headphones and set speakers as default device. However, even with the most up to date drivers my speakers and headphones are displayed as 1 single device.  Further to this I have seen you can disable Jack detection in Realtek HD Audio Manager. Unfortunately, whenever i try and run HD Audio Manager the window immediately closes and Beats opens in its place. Beats Audio (at least my version) has next to no settings and this option is not available to me.  Any advice would be great. A link to a new version of Beats software could be advantageous if one exists. Any other work arounds also welcome.

Any suggestions?

I usually listen to music with speakers through the headphone jack. When I unplug the speakers, the music plays through the stock laptop speakers like it is supposed to do.

However, all of a sudden, the sound has only worked through these external speakers. It plays fine through the headphone jack, but when I unplug the speakers, the laptop speakers do not work.

I have restored the computer to an earlier point that I know they were working, but still nothing.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1705.

The laptop model is a HP Pavillion dv6-1007tx.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: When I plug in a HDMI cable to the laptop, sound comes through my TV.

Answer:Got sound from my headphone jack abut nothing from speakers

These systems are auto sensing what is plugged in. You can try reinstalling the sound driver as one thing. Another is a "recycle" of the device - go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the device and then LEFT click "Uninstall" - DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the device. If the status with Windows was corrupt this will fix that.

I've scanned for viruses

I've scanned for spyware w/three different pieces of software (spybot, malware-bytes, adaware08).. all are current

I'm hoping to get some help, I'm pretty good at trouble shooting problems with my comp. but I'm stumped on this one. I've rebooted, checked all volume levels, ran the sound test and sound comes from both speakers as well as the headphones, all drivers are up to date, and there are no yellow exclamation points on speakers or sounds. I have music playing on my windows media player and nothing, you tube ...no sounds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You...

Answer:[SOLVED] No sound from speakers or headphone jack

Hi -

Go into Device manager and un-install all devices under the sound tree. Then re-boot.
START | devmgmt.msc

Vista will re-install upon boot-up & logon. Test audio - any difference?

Hi, you could download the maintenance and service guide from HP.com to see if the connector is mounted to the mainboard and if it would be a difficult repair.  If so, you might use something like the Sabrent USB audio adapter as a workaround.  I have one and it works well.

The part where you plug the headphones into the tower broke off into the front headphone jack, I then opened up the tower and pushed it out but there is still no sound coming threw the speakers. Now my question is this, regarding the spring, Does it have to be fully extended for the computer not too think anything is in the jack or not? The Spring is still in, but when looking into the hole there is a metal piece that is push over too the left as in the hold is closed, should it be pushed back? (re-bent) or something too that effect.

And if no body knows the answer too this, any way to just disconnect that whole headphone jack to i can have sound threw my speakers again. Running on a Dell Dimension 4600C

thank you

Like the headline says, I have a problem with sound on my Toshiba laptop (model is Satellite L755-S5110). Sound just randomly switches to headphones, even though they aren't connected. The sound just stops playing from the speakers, and when I plug in headphones, it plays normaly through headphones, and works fine while using them, but when I unplug headphones, the sound then plays from speakers for some time and then again just stops on its own and if I plug headphones again, it plays through them.
First, I thought it was some driver issue with win 10, so I did clean install of windows 7 (it was first installed when I bought my laptop), then again installed all the required drivers from the toshiba site (I checked in the device manager couple of times if all audio drivers were up to date, tried reinstalling/installing again), and the exact same problem remained. I also tried reinstalling audio driver provided from toshiba site, and used microsoft audio driver, and again the same problem.
Also, for example, when the sound stops playing from speakers, i just open Playback devices (where my default speakers device is listed), and the sound starts playing again through speakers (didnt change anything there, just opened it...)
I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with this issue, since I've already tried everything I could think of, and none worked yet.
I'm also not really good with computers, so if you have any possible solutions, please let the instructions be... Read more

Hi all,

I just purchased a new soundcard which replaces the original soundcard (on the motherboard)
Installation went fine and I can hear sound via the speakers. The question I hope someone can help me with is how I can hear sound both through my speakers and the headphones at the same time?

I used to be able to do this via my old sound card. I know I can't use the front plugs anymore for my headphones. In the back my new soundcard has several out lines (green black and orange) only the green one seems to work (when putting headphones in that one I hear sound, and when I replace it with my speakers plug I hear sound). Connecting the headphones to for example the black line it does nothing.

Appreciate any help
thx!

Answer:Trust 5100 soundcard -> Sound both via speakers and headphone?

Maybe something wrong with the "headphones" jack. It should have a spring contact on the inside which "cuts" the circuit to the speakers when you push a jack-plug into it's socket. If that's not happening, you will get sound through speakers and headphones at same time.

Either that or you're plugging headphones into the wrong jack.

Hello everybody,

Desperately needing help! Tried running Windows 7 RC on my U200, everything fine but the sound just wont work.
The system detects the sound card without a problem, I also get a peak in the Windows 7sound control but there just is no sound via headphone or speakers. I tried running the Vista drivers from the Toshiba site, but they dont work either.

Does anyone know if toshiba is going to support the U200 under Windows 7?

Thanks for your help!

Answer:Satellite Pro U200 - No sound via headphone or speakers on Windows 7

Hi!

If your sound card is listed properly in device manager make sure that the sound isn?t muted. Check this!

Furthermore I can recommend trying Windows 7 beta drivers from the Toshiba US page. Maybe they will work for you:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com

In worst case you have to downgrade to Windows Vista.

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so please feel free to re-direct if necessary.

I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite A665-S9092 laptop that just started exhibiting a weird problem: I get an occasional crackling, popping sound from whatever I plug into the headphone jack. I've tried with my Bose speakers and two separate sets of headphones. It seems to occur whenever the hard drive is accessed: when the computer is idle, I don't hear a peep, but whenever I e.g. refresh my browser or open a program, it starts crackling. The odd thing is that I don't get this from the built-in laptop speakers - only from whatever I plug into the headphone jack.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? One of the main uses of this machine is playing music so this problem is putting a serious crimp in my enjoyment...

(Extra info: under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" in the Device Manager I have 4 instances of nVidia High Definition Audio, and 1 instance of Realtek High Definition Audio. Checking "driver update" tells me the drivers are up to date. Not sure why there are 4 instances of the nVidia HD Audio.)

Hey,

I have a M305D which I reformatted and installed Vista Ultimate. I installed all the required drivers.

However when I plug in headphones into the headphone jack I get no sound in the headphones and the internal speakers continue playing.

I do not know if the jack worked before I refomrated.

So I can not tell if it is a pre-existing condition.

Any help regarding the headphone issue would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Satellite M305D: No sound through the headphone but speakers work

Hi

Did you test it with different headphones???

Possibly the tiny switch which is part of the headphone jack does not work correctly and doesn?t switch between the speakers and the headphone.
In this case the issue would be related to the hardware?

I?m not quite sure if such issue could be related to a software malfunction but it would be really interesting to know if the issue would persist after installation the OS from the recovery DVD.

I recently had a computer problem and brought it to a computer store to get it fixed. They erased most of my stuff but fixed it.This had also happened exactly 6 months ago cause I see my previous problem was posted in april 15 2009.

I recently did a big update, which involved updating the BIOS (from version 1.91 to 1.93). Since then the speakers on the tablet, and headphones when attached, no longer produce sound. Sound works okay from the keyboard speakers. I've tried updating the driver (intel smart sound technology), as well as rolling back, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Nothing has worked so far. My best guess is that the BIOS update is responsible, since the tablet speakers and headphones also no longer work in linux, but did before the update. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for a fix to try before downgrading the bios would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

Funny enough everything seem to be fine as the sound card driver is installed well (under Vista) and all the configuration seem to be correct and fine. Even when trying to change the volume level, you see that indicator SHOWS that a sound is beening played but you don't hear anything. I'm tired of installing and unistalling the driver (it's Realtek HD by the way) and nothing happends. Even I have checked the Services (local) and all seem to be fine.
Any ideas (.... it not on mute!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Thanks

Recently, I have been having trouble with my laptop. Let me say this first but my laptop is probably the worst in the world because of the many things it has done to me and also it's small amount of RAM.

Recently, my laptop had crashed probably due to using all it's RAM and when it had finally finished booting up. It was running normally. There was sound coming through the speakers in the front. When I had plugged in my headphones, there was no sound coming through them. Now, I have encountered this problem before and it has fixed itself a couple of days later when I had left it running. In the past and recently I have tried restarting my sound services via Microsoft Management Console, updating my drivers, disabling the speaker and enabling it, and even restarting my computer and nothing works.

Is there a way to fix this without waiting for a couple of days to fix itself or how to prevent this from happening again once it's fixed? I would really like to know.

Recently, while playing unreal tournament, I realize there was no sound coming out of the speaker once I unplugged my headphones. I restarted thinking that it would fix the problem, but that didn't help, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall the sound driver from realtek, no good either. Finally I deicided to reformat my computer using the recovery partition. Reassuring myself that this will definitely solve the problem I was shock and confuse as to why no sound came out of the speaker after the recovery. After going to the Realtek sound control panel I realize that the computer thinks or detected that a headphone was plugged in when clearly it wasn't. The sound does work with the headphone in and I am sure the speaker is not damaged because the POST sound, "boommmmm", comes during bootup. I really don't understand what is going on, and I already reformatted the harddrive 2 times.

I have read that the problem can be temporarily solve by replacing the motherboard, but after about a week or two, the same problem will arise. I have also read that other brands including HP, DELL and Sony has similar problems.

I can live without the speakers but I am not sure if further problems will persist with this laptop, since its only been month that I have purchased it.

Thanks for many reply/help.

Answer:Asus G1S speakers not working (stuck in headphone jack mode)

Just some real quick ideas

Speakers plugged into power outlet and on
Speakers plugged into back jack securely
(actually if you heard the startup booom sound, then they must be)

Sound volume up on speaker
Sound volume up on Windows
Sound volume up in the game that you are using
(That might be it)

If you play a song (through Windows media player) can you hear it ?
If so this must be an in game setting (ie mute sound) Please check all settings in the game.

The other day a speaker cord was yanked out of my computer and dismembered the head phone port. When headphones or speakers are plugged in they do not work. The main issue here is when nothing is plugged into the port my laptop speakers do not work. Its as if my computer thinks something is plugged in and has turned off its own speakers.
Im poor and lack funds to pay someone for help. What can I try to fix this?

Answer:problems with headphone port and non working speakers Dell Inspiron

The headphone jack will have to be repaired (if possible - in many cases it will require a new motherboard). There is a contact in the jack (a "normal through") contact that the sound chip senses. Maybe a computer tech can rewire around that so the speakers always work or if you are lucky replace the jack. Otherwise you are looking at a new motherboard. You will have to weigh having sound against the $$ it will potentially take to fix it.

Hi everyone, this is my first 'post' anywhere!
My problem is that I've been using USB Headphones and now I can't get any sound from my speakers. The Realtek HD Sound Manager comes up blank, except for the three 'button' icons, speaker, headphone, headphone. All the messages tell me "no audio output device installed" My system is .... Medion Notebook running Vista. Has anyone any suggestions on how I can rectify this.

Answer:Loss of sound from notebook speakers

Hello and welcome to Techspot,
That message: "no output device installed" could mean that there's no driver installed for the audio device or it has been disabled, either from windows or the BIOS, I'm not familiar with USB headphones but if you were geting sound with those is weird that there's not sound at all from the Laptop speakers, if you were using en external audio device that connects to your headphones maybe that's why, because you were using a thrid party audio card not exactly the one your Laptop has onboard.
First thing I'll suggest is get the most recent drivers for your Laptop, search the web site from the brand of your Laptop an you'll be able to download the mentioned drivers.
Good Luck and if there's anything else I can help you with let me know.

Answer:Notebook sound card for 5.1 channel speakers?

on your laptop you got only one output and one input

the output is for headset and may be used with stereo speakers, or 2.1 system, means there are 2 speakers for left and right and a sub.

but now comes your problem.

what you are plannig to buy is a 5.1 speaker system and means it got 5 speakers and a sub.
that means it have more than one connector. it haves tree connectors:

one for sub and the center speaker,
one for the front speakers left and right,
and the last one for the rear speakers left and right.
you will need a 5.1 usb sound card if you still want to have the logitech x540 speaker system and use it on you're laptop.

Hi Zaker_Choudhury

Welcome to the Community Forums
If you have Realtek HD Audio Manager Go into your realtek audio manager similar to this link. If there isn't an icon in the bottom right, go to control panel, hardware and sound, realtek hd audio manager. In the top right there is a "device advanced settings" where you can select to make your outputs as 2 different streams
Then you may just adjust volume on each.
Another option within windows under playbackChoose properties Listen and Level tabs to change.

Software tools can also be helpful similar to Virtual Audio Cable .

Physical modifications via splitter audio jack to USB  is also an option.

Update us how it goes for you.

The mic get recognised but doesn't pick up any sound, nd also my internal laptop mic works. So I tried it with my friend's headset and his mic didn't pick any sound either. Well then I tried using a Headset adapter(this one : http://amzn.to/1Uepclb), But the same results. Then I bought a usb Sound card(This one : http://amzn.to/1YtHoHC), didn't solve the issue either. I have searched everywhere for a solution but couldn't find it anywhere. The reason why I use a external mic is because my internal mic picks up too much noise. I have Tried the following :1.Updated all my Drivers.2.uninstalled my audio drivers and reinstalled them(Devive manager meathod)3.Tried inserting only the headset microphone cable in the audio jack4.Tried combinig the cable using a headset adapter and also using a usb sound card However when I select Agc(auto gain control) under custom tab in microphone properties it goes up half a level, but it still doesn't regonise any sound.  Also when I select listen through this device(in headset microphone properties), I hear a loud screeching noise(like rubbing sand paper together - static noise I guess), although this happens only when the micrphone volume is above 80%.  Please help me resolve this issue. Hello Guys, had this problem while, tried many of the solutions to resolve and failed, finally reset the system to factory settings thinking things will be back to normal, but still it exists!!

*Asus g74sx- windows 7 ultimate,Realtek Hd audio.

Just saw the new Realtek Hd audio driver release ,not updated yet, awaiting for your kind advise and suggestion.thanks.

Answer:Audio coming from both Headphone and Speakers when headphone used!!

thought here; have you checked all the settings to make sure the proper headphone/speaker settings are checked/unchecked?. i would consider updating to that newest driver. If it does not solve the issue you should be able to restore it back to the previous restore point which should undo the driver update.

Hey everybody,

I bought the headsets. They've got a microphone as well.

Now I've got three ports: pink, green and this colorless one.

My regular speakers go in the colorless port, while the headphone microphone goes into the pink one and the headset speakers.

The thing is speakers on the headsets, as well as my regular speakers worked, but the microphone on the headsets didn't, so I tried to fix the problem, and eventually did, that is the microphone works, but the speakers on the headsets don't !

However, by inserting the headphone's speakers into the colorless port (where my regular speakers are put), in that case the headphones work, but why don't they work when I pluck them in the green port? Previously, when the microphone didn't work, the headphone's speakers worked, but after I 'fixed' the microphone problem, the headphone's speakers stopped working.

Please help me, as this is of great importance, and I've been trying to fix this problem for several hours.

Answer:Headphone mic didn't work - now it does, but headphone speakers don't

That colorless port might be for input devices, that does not include headphones. I had the same problem with my audigy 2 zs, had to plug my headset into a speaker port, its really the only way to get them to work, unless you have front panel ports for headphones.

When I bought this notebook the only thing I told the salesperson I cared about was the sound (for music), facebook, and e-mail. I believed the salesperson when he said B&O speakers were the best. They sound tinny-hollow-awful.  My husbands tiny Dell-work computer- sound so much better I use it. Before my 90 days- no questions ask- Costco return policy is up   IS THERE anything I might try. Please HELP!   Meg Whitman, as CEO, stood out on this election 2016.  I bought a HP because she didn't fold to Donald Trump. I would really hope to keep this as I have informantion on it that I'll have to ask someone to help me to wipe it (2016 taxes). Sara J. I really need some help! My headphone jack has been working fine but today I went to plug my headphones in and there was an odd click before it went in, and now nothing plays at all. I get the popup saying that they are in though and when I take them out? I tried the headphones in my iPod and they work with that so the laptop has issues.

Hi,I just bought a Lenovo G580 from Sibia in Lund, Sweden. Everything works fine except the headphones. When I plug in the headphone the laptop doesn't recognize it. I have re-install the audio card and yet the problem remains.I was wondering if you could help me with that.Cheers!

Answer:Lenovo G5880, Headphone is not working

hi S7NU,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

As per this pdf data sheet,  the Lenovo G580 uses a headphone / microphone combo jack (3.5 mm). If you tried a wide varieties of headphones and they don't work, can you try to plug the headphone but don't put it all the way in (about 1mm-2mm before it fully contacts the audio jack) and observe.

Let me know your findings,

I recently downloaded skype and wanted to use it to talk to friends while playing games. However, my headphone microphone isnt being recognized by the system. The headset I have is a UE 4000, which has three rings for both microphone and speakers. The issue is probably where i'm plugging it in, which is currently the headphone input on the front of the desktop. Is there a place I can plug these headphones in so that the computer can use both headphones and microphones, or do I have to get an adapter? The headphones worked no problem on my macbook. thanks in advance!

Seen some posts here in Sound & Audio section regarding this topic.

What is the Universal Windows 7 method to do this ^(see title)^ regardless of hardware or drivers used?

Edit: Looking for default Windows method to control this function. (Registry or other)

Answer:Windows 7 64Bit, Speakers Audible or Mute when Headphones in use.

The default on most is mute the speakers when headset is plugged in. Some sound hardware, such as Realtek, have options to mute the speakers when a headset is plugged in or not to mute the speakers.

I assume this is your question.

Good morning everyone,

I am having issues with sound on the M92 or G1U3306 as stated on the subject. The sound works perfectly fine for everything with the exception of Istation, www.istation.com. I did notice that this is only affecting 2 out of the 20 plus computers we have, so its a bit hard to say its just the model. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, and as well verified that it was not just the input device for front and back jacks being wonky. Oddly enough the support agent I worked with, used TeamViewer and was able to hear the application just fine, however when I used speakers it was very, very faint but I could also hear it.

Is there any general help anyone can provide me to pinpoint the problem further?

I'm not finding that model number, can you verify?   Running 'sys info' can usually also provide the model number (do not post serial numbers.)   And OS info and Istation version might be helpful.   Thx.

Hi all,

I just bought an old Toshiba A210 laptop and I'm dealing with a couple of (minor) problems. As the title says, I've tried every conceivable control, I can't get any sound from the speakers. No hissing sound, nothing, completely silent. Headphones work fine though.

I checked device manager and drivers, it's a Realtek driver, I went to Toshiba and saw that I have the latest driver for Win 7.

Any ideas what kind of problem this is? hardware probably?

This laptop had Win 7 Ultimate installed over Vista.

I probably need to try some nice USB speakers anyway though

Thanks!

Answer:Sound card problem - headphones work, notebook speakers don't

Considering its a used laptop, it wouldn't surprise me that one of the reasons it was being sold is the speaker problem.

Hello. I've switched to SSD form default HDD and decided to install clean Windows 10 system. Everything went ok, I installed latest driver from G50-70 from the support website but when I played music on my headphones I was shocked how bad sound I had compared to previous system - vocals were really bad and backed. I looked around and decided to install separate smart audio app which is bundled with different driver (http://support.lenovo.com/pl/pl/downloads/ds038344) and it's ok now - I've got same sound quality as before. Why don't you feature this app with G50-70 drivers??? It's not user friendly.

Hi Kwstas_chris,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issues with microphone not working on your Lenovo  G50-75 laptop.

Go to Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound Click on Sound then you devices should come up ; speakers, Digital Audio, and headphones plug your headphones in, then select headphones at the bottom and select set as default option !! then when you disconnect your headphones it automatically switches to the speakers and when you plug them back in it automatically will switch to headphones!!

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!

Best regards,

So the headphone jack on my U530 is not working at all. No prompt; it seems the laptop does not even recognize that there is a headphone plugged in. I started having issues with the headphone port not working, but the prompt in the bottom right would at least pop up, and all I had to do was restart my computer to fix the issue. Now, nothing seems to work. Please help! most of what I do uses audio, and it's imperative that I get this solved ASAP.

I recently bought the Equium 100-147 and noticed that an audible click comes from the speakers (or headphones or external speakers) when the fan starts up, and again when the fan stops. Sometimes it?s quite noticeable, other times not so noticeable.

Does anyone else hear this click? If this is normal I can live with it, otherwise I will return it for repair. Any comments please?

Also, it seems slow to start-up and shut down. Start-up takes 2 minutes 35 seconds, and to shut down it takes 33 seconds. Is this normal bearing in mind it is running MCE? I have loaded additional software such as Office 2000, Itunes, Nero, Photoshop 5.0 etc

Thank you for reading.

Answer:Audible click from speakers when fan starts and stops Equium A100-147

The click sound when the fan starts or stops rotating is not unusual. On my satellite a similar sound appears when the fans starts to rotate or the HDD starts to spin.
So don?t worry, I think its ok.

The booting procedure can take several times when many applications and software must load at the beginning. The Equium A100 seems to be a one of the newest notebooks and I presume different Toshiba applications loads at the beginning.
Also a Antivirus applications could extend the booting procedure.

You could try to tests something. Disable the antivirus from loading at the beginning and check if the notebook will boot faster.

It?s the same with shuts down. All the background processes which are running in the background of the OS must be closed before the notebook will completely shut down.

Hello, A costumer brought an E530 laptop with a problem with the sound: when you plug in earphones/headphones in the jack on the right side nothing happens. The sound continues to be played by the computer speakers and nothing is heard on the earphones. Juggling a bit with the jack I was able to make it work if I don't insert the plug all the way in and move it a bit. So, I asked for a replacement part for that board. I got the new one today and same thing is happening: sound only goes out through speakers unless I jiggle a bit the plug. I know is not a Windows issue because same thing happens if I boot the computer with a Linux Live CD. Do you have any suggestions on what could be happening? Or I just got a faulty part and I need to request a replacement to Lenovo? I don't think that the issue is located within the systemboard seeing that moving the jack makes it work. Sortof...

Hi FranciscoPeralt,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Did you check with updating the BIOS once, could be issue with BIOS firmware?
Also run ThinkVantage system update utility and update all the latest drivers and application for your system to confirm it is not with the driver related issue.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone,

I've been researching and pulling my hair out, and starting to think what I'm after is somehow not possible to achieve.

My goal is to be able to record my screen, my speakers, and my mic (narration), while also being able to playback ONLY my speakers to my headphones.

Basically, I wish to monitor ONLY the speaker audio, WITHOUT my mic (narration).

I thought I could achieve this by using Realtek HD Audio Manager, which allows you to playback two different audio streams simultaneously. However, it would seem that only certain Windows applications which are written to give you the option of changing the playback device can take advantage of this feature. The particular Windows application which I am recording does not give me that option.

So essentially I am wondering if there is a way to force an application to output to a particular playback device, ie. the Realtek HD Audio 2nd Output. The Realtek HD Audio 2nd Output would play to my headphones (application audio ONLY) while at the same time I would be able to record my screen, my speakers, and my mic all together at once.

I did find this post which broke my heart as it seems this might not be possible due to Windows only providing a single mixer, but wanted to try asking around here too -> Different audio output for certain programs [Solved] - Multimedia - Apps General Discussion

Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1 (64 bit)

Windows only allows one default audio playback device. There may be some third party program that will do what you want, but not with the default Windows options.

So i bought a brand new Ideapad about 8 hours ago.  I came home, spent 2 hours updating everything and when I finally sit back to surf the web and listen to music, I relize the headphone jack won't work.  I've tried 2 sets of headphones with no luck.  The speakers on the laptop work and Ive gone over everything to make sure I've not accidently muted something.  When I plug the headphones in it shows that I "Plugged in a device" but it doesn't seem to register anywhere else.  Needless to say I'm hacked off as the best buy I bought it from is an hour away.  So I'm hopinh I'm just overlooking something and it's an easy fix.  Any feedback or assistance is appreciated. Also, I did reinstall the rel tek driver recommended on the Lenovo site with no luck. Thank you.
