ThinkVantage System Update does not find any packages

Question: ThinkVantage System Update does not find any packages

Hello everybody! I bought a new Lenov B50-70 laptop. I tried to update everything to the latest drivers, unfortunately system update does not find any packages. I uninstalled the current version of System Update and installed the latest one from the Lenovo download site. I also executed a BIOS update and ran any open windows updates. Unfortunately it still does not work. .NET Framework 4.5.2 is also installed. I checked the log files of System Update but I cannot find the root cause for the issue. Preferred Solution: ThinkVantage System Update does not find any packages

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

HiDoes anyone know if the ThinkVantage System Update tool works on the G710, I installed it but I get the error "There are no applicable packages found for your system" when I look at the systems supported the G710, I used it before in a couple of other IBM/Lenovo and was a great tool for updating drivers, bios, software, etcOr is there an alternative software thet does the same thing?Thanks

Plz help me~I have done clean installation of windows 7.I have installed fingerprints and power managers, but I wanted to just download system update.But when im installing system update, it says "there are no applicable packages found for your system"How can I fix this??  Also, I have couple other questions.Is it possible to change the graphic cards of the thinkpadw500? I can not play leage of legends with this graphic card.It says I do have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 but there is yellow exclamation picture infront,and Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family.  To clean the fan, do I need to open the laptop completely?

The yellow exclamation means you need to install the driver for the mobility radeon. get the drivers direct from AMDs driver page. as for the system update, it just means that it didnt find anything that was out of data on your system,

Recently when run System udpate on several machines and each time I do it comes back and says there are no updates despite I can see updates when I go to the driver matrix.  This is on several typs of machines involved including a W520 and W530 and others Please help me find a solution

T450s - Windows 10 / 64 bit.System update (latest version 5.07.0013).Fails to download packages.Uninstalled and reinstalled.The program shows up as "32-bit" in the Control Panel.Any ideas ?

Hi,

After a recent malware event, I began thinking about a product that I thought was a little more than it actually proved to be. My question here is what everyone thinks of the total system protection AV packages that companies like Symantec, McAffee, and AVG sell?

Basically, I have Norton 360 total system protection (which I religiously update almost daily) installed on my PC and I let my guard down by accepting a program from a friend. That was my main mistake; but needless to say I paid for my lack of judgement. Anyway, as I installed the program I saw a quick blip from Norton saying that it was processing threats and then nothing else for the entire process of events. There wasn't even a log saying that Norton processed anything. If I had gotten up to get a drink I would never have even realized I got hit by something. It turned out that I was infected by a nasty trojan with a keylogger, etc. So I guess the question is if real-time protection is really worth the cost? Are there free alternatives that provide for the same thing? I've seen alot of postings about Avira AntiVir and Comodo Firewall free editions along with Firefox and its add-ons and those seem like good alternates to the $70 bloatware I see nowadays, but what is everyone doing for real-time protection? I am very happy with ZoneAlarm. I do not use their full suite, just the Antivirus that comes with the firewall, which includes an operating system firewall. I did not mind paying the 30 bucks for the program and I do not mind paying the 20 bucks to renew it each year. I have used for many years and I have no desire to switch, not even to the free products many around seem to like a lot, that is how happy I am with it.

While I won't be without real time antivirus protection or an outbound firewall, ZoneAlarm is the only real time protection I use and it won't let me install anything it perceives as a threat. I do not like or use Spybots Tea Timer but I do use Spybot to immunize my system, along with SpywareBlaster. I use Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware to run the occasional scan for malware/spyware

Hello all, I have a lenovo T60 laptop that I am trying to update using think vantage system update.  When I try to upgrade, the program tells me that there are no applicable packages for my system.  I researched the matter and found this as a solution:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/ThinkVantage-System-Update-quot-There-are-no-a... However, when I run the older version of system update, it wants me to update the program with no options to not update. I then get the same message that there are no applicable packages for my system. Has anyone else run into this problem and found a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That solution was for a problem back in may, are you saying it's not been resolved since then?  It sounds like your system is up to date, so there are no updates needed, perhaps you can compare the versions of that are install with what is offered on the website for your installed programs and drivers, and if you can find one that isn't the latest, then that would prove there really is a problem, and it could be submitted to development (again).

T430s, Win 8.1 Enterprise here. I installed Lenovo System Update 5.03 and scanned for new packages. However, it states that there are no new things for me. I went to Lenovo?s support website and found numerous drivers definetly newer then my installed one. Any ideas where the problem is? (I don?t want to download and install all of them individually?)

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad W540 running Windows 8.1. I installed system update from the Lenovo support site and it forces an update as soon as I run it. When the update completes and it runs, I get an error message :There are no applicable packages found for your system. I am running Version 5.06.0027. I cant believe that this problem has no resolution, but I cant find anything. My system is a base install of Windows 8.1 with IE, Chrome, Firefox and Office 2013. There is nothing else installed. This is the third time I have reinstalleed Windows 8.1 and the same problem happens. Does this version of the software work in Windows 8.1? Am I doing something wrong? Please Help if anyone knows how to fix this.

Probably just a typo, but are you sure your version is 5.06.0027?  I thought the current version of System Update was 5.06.0024?

I have an old x60s. I updated  the ThinkVantage System Update  software to what I think is the latest  ie...V 3.14.0029.
When downloading updates I get "An error occurred while downloading packages".
In the log file I can see .."Couldn't connect to the HelloServer, no UDF file downloaded" 
and then later
"An error occurred while contacting the helpcenter."

This morning, my system showed there is critical update and recommended update by ThinkVantage System Update problem.I click yes to most of them which include  "ThinkPad Wireless LAN (11/a/b/g)(Windows 2000/XP)"After updated, my laptop can not connect to internet anymore.Both cable and wirelss connections failed to connect internet which I have in our schoool.   I try several times in my internet setup, I end up reverse my drivers of ethernet, then it works again.I dont know if any one have this problem. Or people who have this problem can not browse this forum literally... Should I skip this update next time when it show me the recommended update?

Hi, I run update and it seems like ThinkVantage System Update didnt install one update/driver exactly: Intel WiMAX for Windows Vista 64-bit. I can see this by "View installation history". Now the question is: how can I make TVSU redownload this update again and install ? I know that I can do this manualy by downloading  software from Lenovo drivers website but for example If I had to reinstall few more drivers this wouldnt be the quickest method. Cheers

I had bios 1.25 I ran the thinkvangate toolbox and the update system, asking for lenovo updates.  It said there was a bios update, which I ran. Now I have 1.26. There are no more updates reported by the updater. Does anyone know:1) Is 1.3 a beta product?2) Is it not in the Lenovo update tool because they are very slow at adding updates (i.e. months late?)3) Is it safe to install Bios 1.3 manualy?  The only place I can find it is here - is this the correct source? The reason for wanting the update is that my CPU clock is fixed (wont go down on battery, and wont go up under heavy single core load), and also since installing the new power manager 3.62, the fan is stuck on permanently even on battery, idle and cold and the noise is driving me nuts.  There are no reported fixes in 1.3 for any of these issues, but people are reporting that it may fix them, so I guess the Lenovo developers might have sneaked some undocumented (but hopefully tested) changes in there. This machine is my livelyhood, so I cant afford on day downtime - so Bios udates are only done if desperatly needed and if no issues are reported.

I have, or had a laptop purchased 9 months ago, therefore under warranty. Yesterday the ThinkVantage System Update recommended a BIOS update. After the traditional recommendations about what should not shut down the computer, the laptop is reset and started with the update.

During execution, displayed on a screen command, a message "ERROR XXXX. Press any key to continue." After press the key the laptop was freezedy was completely blocked. After an hour without seeing response and no sign of life, I decided to turn it off to confirm the disaster. The laptop was dead.

The laptop began to beep and would not start. Before the panic generated by the situation, I searched the forums where I found several cases that refer to the same problem and the insinuation that makes LENOVO about the customer's responsibility to avoid recognizing the warranty.

I was not looking for a BIOS update, it was recommended by ThinkVantage System Update, the software executed it and damage the equipment.

Besides being a damage caused by the ThinkVantage System Update, the situation gets worse when the answer given by support insinuates that the customer turn off the computer, so it is a CID (Customer Induced Damage) and therefore the guarantee does not cover it. I do not understand how LENOVO may imply that the responsibility of the customer. Really disastrous.

In conclusion, if you are not needing to make a BIOS update, it is preferable to omit the BIOS update messages given to ThinkVantage System... Read more

I've been unable to find help for this problem on IBM/Lenovo's website, and I'm hoping maybe somebody else has run into this. Since I upgraded to System Update 2, which I had to do, otherwise the update system would not function at all - as it required the update.

System Update Error 742: System Update downloads the file and gets almost through the "installing" progress bar, then a message pops up saying, "System Update" cannot find the source folder. The command line option (/S) must use a valid source folder.

The tech guy at my computer place suggested I call Lenovo, but the last time I did that I got somebody who knew less than I do about computers. Not exactly encouraging.

We've been experiencing problems conducting updates via TVSU: "The Package Index Server is temporarily unavailable.  Please try again later."  Walked through the troubleshooting steps to ensure this wasn't on our end & then contacted tech support for confirmation that this is a Lenovo issue. Was informed that server maintenance would cause outages until approx. 2:00PM ET (US), but still have issues almost an hour after. Any updates to the status here?

1) I suppose, that it's "Type, Model and System" specified. If you know those three infos then choose them here and look if the System Update Software is available for your type of T400. 2) For the Lenovo 3000 N200 (14" ) a 6-cell battery delivers up to 4 hours system run time and a 9-cell battery up to 6 hours. Hi, I've a T61 of model no6459. I've installed the latest version of Thinkvantage System Update software from lenovo site and since then I can't update my system. When I clcik update now it starts the process but it gives a stupid error "An error occured while downloading packages" after completing 10% every time. There's no problem in the internet connection. The system was bought while i was in USA and then I brought it back to India with me. Please let me know what is the issue and how can i resolve it.

I installed ThinkVantage System Update 3 software on both my T42 and R52, and now the boot time is very excessive on both systems.  When XP Pro gets to the "Welcome" screen and the Windows music plays, it now takes from 18 to 20 seconds to get to the desktop.  Previously, the "Welcome" screen was only present for around 2 seconds prior to getting to the desktop. Is this a peculiarity of this program?  I used the program to download and install several critical and recommended updates for both the T42 and R52, but this behavior occurred after I installed the ThinkVantage System Update software, and not after the installation of the updates downloaded by the System Update software. Any thougts on this would certainly be appreciated.

I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 on my Helix and now TVSU won't run.  I get an error when downloading package information: Lenovo Help Center (1 of 1) "An error occured when downloading packages" Did a couple of searches and it lead me to Firewall issues.  I disabled the firewall but it's still not working. Any one else having issues with this?

I'd like to be up-to-date for the various drivers and Lenovo software updates for my Flex 15. I'm aware that for most models of Lenovo computers, the ThinkVantage System Update exists for this purpose. However, the Flex 15 is not listed as one of the supported models, even though the Yoga is. Is there a Flex-compatible version of this software? If so, where can I find it? Hi all, on May 26 there was a ThinkVantage System Update available - version 5.07.0029 - which I attempted to install, but the installer informed me that uninstalling the previous version was necessary and wasn't working and I'd need to uninstall it myself (or suffer possible operational problems) - I can't find a previous version that I can uninstall myself.  Any suggestions? Looking at the changes listed in the Readme, I'm not terribly convinced that I need this update, but that's not the issue. Any way of uninstalling the previous version of ThinkVantage System? cheers, thanks folks!

My other problem is with the Thinkvantage System Update. Since yesterday, each time I load this program, it would list the programs that need to be installed as if I never installed them. But I already installed them twice. Is there any connection problem with this program? Or did I happen to clear the cache of this program so that it doesn't record the installation history? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I had started the System Update utility this morning.  It stated that it needed to be updated.  It proceeded, threw up a dialog box stating that it had completed successfully...and then it disappeared.  I cannot find it in the start menu, nor can Thinkvantage Tools find it.  I have looked in the Program Files folders, and even in the Windows Programs and Features catalog.  It's gone.No problem, I said, I'll just re-install the old System Update.  Well, when I did that, the same thing happened.  Completed succesfully, but there is no trace of it anywhere. What's going on here? I have a X1 Carbon, 4th gen. running Windows 7.

We are deploying Edge71 (MT 1577-K8U) workstations and using the Thinkvantage Update Retriever to update a local drivers repository for them.  After scanning for updates and installing, there appears to be a few drivers still missing... Intel HD driver, Intel chipset drivers, and Intel Rapid storage.  I can manually download from Lenovo without problem.  How can I get these added to the repository that ThinkVantage Update Retriever uses?

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon type 3443 running Win 7 Pro. When I start System Update, I get a splash screen that says System Update 5.  It stays there for about a minute, then just quits. I just installed the latest version of the Lenovo Solution Center (version 2.6.001) and the same thing happens. Any ideas?? Many thanks. - bill.

I get "Error 75 received from the Package Index Server. Please contact the Support Center" every time during second step in searching for updates. The first step "Searching for agent updates" passes OK. The second step "Downloading package information: Lenovo Help Center (1 of 1)" fails with the error pointed above. ThinkVantage System Update version installed is latest - "Version: 3.14.0008, Build date 2008-5-15"

Hi I run an x201 win 7 64 bit 6GB ram, when I try to update, it gets to 9%  then says "an error has occurecd while gathering user information.Please help,I havent ever been able to update.

A brand new Q190 supplied with Windows 8.1 constantly pops up a message saying "ThinkVantage System Update Not Installed".  There is no such software listed under support for this model.  There is no explanation of this software anywhere on Lenovo's website, but the message is generated by Lenovo's installed system maintenanace software supplied on the system.A box labeled "fix it" is displayed, and shows only a message to visit Lenovo's website, which is useless.If there is no such software there should at least be a way to turn off these messages interfering with use of the computer.  No such option can be found. .

This is only a workaround but if you click on Options (top right) and then uncheck the Alerts for Software this particular alert will disappear.

i am trying to update this T42 with the thinkvantage system update ver 3.14 and all i keep getting is 'system update server is temporarily unavailable' is there anyone willing to try an autoupdate and confirm or deny the server is working or not? then post results in here please? if its not the server, its my machine, i just need to know whats at fault thanks in advance for anyone willing to spend 5 seconds of their life helping me x

Ran thinkvantage system update and after completion, system went to reboot but will not boot.  DVD light flashes several times but nothing happens after that.  Any ideas?

When you ran TVSU, what updates were selected?  I would suspect that you might have received a BIOS update and that perhaps it glitched and hung the system?
 
You are saying you get no display at all on restart, even after completely powering off the system?
 
If that is the case, I'm guessing it was a BIOS flash that didn't work out.  Check the hardware maintenance manual for this system and see if there is a jumper on the board you can use to clear CMOS and recovery.  See this article on the support site.

 I have a Lenovo thinkpad E40 laptop, the mode number is 0578-CTO. About a week ago I tried to installed some driver from lenovo official website, afterward it started to have a boot-up issue--for ~90% chance, the laptop froze at the first screen which displays the big logo "Thinkpad" . It never get beyond this point to the operation system. I installed several drivers but I think it must due to the "ThinkVantage System Update 4.03" since it's the only one has something to do with BIOS, and I never had this problem before. For about 10% chance the laptop was able to get beyond the frozen screen, boot Windows and everything works just fine, all programs, all my files are all functioning appropriately like the laptop has no problem at all. The situation becomes worse and worse with time, and it finally doesn't boot at all today. (After more than 10 hours of trying, finally I got it turned on and I'm not turning it off again) I called Lenovo custome service and they said I need to replace my whole motherboard and it cost at least $575 which is almost the price of this laptop. I think it must be a software issue--the update screwed BIOS somehow. I don't know why thinkcentre post such a software making people incautiously update their BIOS and screw it up. I even want to buy a BIOS chip and replace it myself. So, is their any solution to it? Have you tried reverting back to an earlier restore point?  Here are the steps to do that if you need them:

Hi All!I have a ThinkPad T61 that I LOVE so much more than my old Dell D620. I'm actually switching our company over to ThinkPads from Dell.I have set it up dual boot, running Windows XP SP 2 and Vista Business x64. Both have been running great, and I have installed all the ThinkVantage tools. I even got the SATA to run in AHCI mode, which was the trickiest thing so far...until...I ran System Update on Sunday in Windows XP. Since then, my sound has disappeared. I got all kinds of errors from SoundMax, saying the device wasn't found. When I try to reinstall SoundMax, I get the dreaded "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the "Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver (Q888111)" driver and rebooted each time over and over again. I've removed and let Windows re-find the Bluetooth Audio drivers. I have no exclaimation points for any drivers, and no listing for any SoundMax drivers. I cannot get XP to recognize the audio on the machine any longer. Hello, According to this page on ThinkWiki, the Lenovo ThinkPad T61 uses the Analog Devices AD1984 HD Audio Codec controller, which implements a "SoundMAX Digital Audio System" when combined with the appropriate drivers and software.  According to this FAQ, Microsoft Windows XP is supported. A search of Lenovo's web site found this page containing audio device drivers for ThinkPad T61s running Microsoft Windows XP and 2000.  Perhaps installing them will restor your ThinkPad T61's sound. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. In fact, this is the first forum ever for me. Anyway, I would be very gratefull if anyone out there can help me. I have been having endless problems with Lenovo's Thinkvantage System Update during the last few weeks. I wont go into the whole lot as most are now resolved and besides, I dont think there would be enough space here to go thru it all. Anyway, the latest is I uninstalled System Update and due to a problem with the System Update file downloadable from Lenovo's website I instead installed System Update 2005. After running System Update it updated itself to version 3.14 without any problems. However, now when I run System Update it picks up 7 updates available for my T42 thinkpad. Downloading them is no problem at all but for some reason it wont install any of them. it just says "7 packages did not install". And I know that they are compatible for my laptop coz they wouldn't be picked up otherwise. Besides, I have read the small print and they are definitely good for my thinkpad. I just dont see why they wont install. Has anyone else out there had this problem and does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance people.Mitz.

I had a similar problem, I found disabling my antivirus and then running system update got around the problem.Obviously once you have all your updates you can re-enable your antivirus. An alternative is to see which updates sytem updates says you need and download and install them manually. I have since upgraded my antivirus to Norton Internet Security 2009 and have no issues with system update.

Dear community member: Recently, I encountered Windows blue screen problem "STOP: 0x0000007B" as attachment for my IBM X40 notebook with Windows XP home. Actually, this case was happened after installed Lenovo ThinkVantage system update 3.16 http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS013489 . I also consulted Microsoft Taiwan customer support, they thought that it should be driver issue. Is there any way to resume my Windows XP as usual without system partition formatting (i.e. IBM system recovery tool)? Note: CHKDSK /F actiion also did without any problem being found.Thanks for your help in advance,Austin

I?m sorry to hear that you are getting Windows blue screen "STOP: 0x0000007B".
 
"STOP: 0x0000007B"indicates a mis-match between BIOS and the hard drive controller driver. Check bios for AHCI status.
 
Press F1 at post to get into BIOS. In BIOS, go to Config -> Serial ATA. Change from AHCI to Compatible or vice versa and then boot.

The machine is 6460-D6G, OS is Windows XP SP3 (fresh install.) When I try to install updates using ThinkVantage System update (a fresh version downloaded yesterday) it either hangs or bounces between 98% and 99% complete, no matter which package I select (tried BIOS update, Power Manager and others.) What do I do? Downloading and nstalling dozens of  packages manually doesnt' sound very appealing.

As in the title ... does the TVSU function correctly with IdeaCentre desktops?  I recently pruchased a K330 7727-3GU and receive a "no applicable packages" message before System Update finishes it's search. If System Update does not work with IdeaCentre hardware then do we have to manuually download drivers and sw updates?

Idea systems and Think systems are two different systems with 2 different software packages.
 
TVSU won't work with Idea systems.  Yes, you manually update drivers and packages.
 
TVSU is usually a little behind anyway with current updates.  Updated drivers get posted to the driver page first, then they go into TVSU.
 
Idea systems have their own versions of power management, internet access management,  and security suite.
Start, all programs, under Lenovo, you'll find the applicable utilities for the Idea systems.
 
Think systems have them under Thinkvantage.

Hello board!  First of all, I'd like to say thanks for reading my inquiry.  If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated! We have 7 T61 laptops and are preparing them for deployment - Office, Visio, Project and a subsequent Microsoft update.  However, after installing all critical and recommended updates in ThinkVantage system update, the computers can no longer log into the domain.  We have tried deleting them in Active Directory and rejoining the domain, and this works, but once we try to log onto the domain, a "[domain] cannot be located" error occurs. Is anyone aware of any software that was included in this update that may be causing this?  Thanks very much for any help! Chris...

That... Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update 5.00 (systemupdate50-09-27-2012.exe) reports "No packages applicable to your system were found". Tough I did found several drivers in the support page for my system. It seems is not reporting... nothing. Any fix?  PS: The best thing is, S430 is one of the supposed "supported" W8 notebooks...

Whenever I go to "Get New Updates", it stops at 15% and crashes and I am then forced to close the program. Anyone know a way around this? I can't get updates if this keeps happening.

Answer:Very annoying. ThinkVantage System Update Keeps Crashing... [x201]

It's either the system update program error or some other configs...maybe the downloading of the drivers have conflict. You can try either go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\System Update\session and press delete most of the update folders into the trash can, leaving behind those folders with whole name. For example, remove 7xwb06ww etc which are normally the name of the updates/driver. DON'T empty the trash yet because if something is wrong you can restore the positions of those folders. Run update again and see if the error occurs. Alternatively, instead of updating lets say 5 drivers at once, choose only 1 driver and run the system update and see if it works. Maybe one of the other updates is conflicting with others

Hi, I've got a T61, 7662-CTO, running Windows XP sp3. I recently ran the Thinkvantage system update, which attempted to update some of the thinkvantage drivers, including the power scheme manager. After the download, Window's Data Execution Prevention started to interfere with the install.  I downloaded the updated driver manually, turned off DEP, and installed manually. Since then, all my ThinkVantage functionality has started to act up.- Power Schemes don't work- None of the Fn + F# keys seem to work, except Fn + F4- the blue thinkvantage button stopped workingIf I start the ThinkVantage programs from the start menu, then some of the programs work okay (but not power schemes) Am I the only one facing these issues?  Any advice would be helpful. -Q

After calling Warrany Support (woo hooooo), I found that the hotkeys driver needed to be reloaded.  That fixed the Fn+F# key issues, but my power manager is as messed up as it was (even after reinstalling the driver). As a matter of fact, the Power Manager issue persists only on my admin account.  My sibbling's account doesn't seem to have any problems with it.  The problem was that the power profiles were not being activated when selected, and some of the profiles were removed (like Power Source Optimized, Maximum Battery Life, etc...).

Simple enough question: Will System Update pull down everything I need for my T510 or am I better off manually downloading individual pieces from Driver + Downloads?

Hello, today I got my brand new T540p. Its was delivered without OS (Lenovo Campus). I downloaded the ethernet drivers  and the TV System Update on a usb flash drive with my old thinkpad. After installing Windows 8 Pro, i installed the ethernet drivers to connect to the internet. Then i started the TV System Update and let it install all critical and optional drivers.  After the all drivers have been installed the machine wants to reboot, but now i am in a reboot loop. Everytime it hangs in the screen "Windows Update 100%" and then I see the blue screen of death (Driver Power state failure) and the machine reboots again. Does anyone else have this problem or is there a fix from lenovo? Thanks, Mat

After fresh install of win 8 I only updated drivers from windows update. Works fine so far. Upgraded to win 8.1 still no problem. Use nvidia, wifi, intel graphics driver from windows update. Windows could not install chipset drivers. So I downloaded the intel chipset drivers from lonovo. Install crashes with bsod and ending up in reboot loop. I assume it's a problem with the intel drivers from lenovo. At moment I install win 8 again and I will try to install the drivers from intel website.

ThinkVantage Update is showing an update to the APS.  New version is 1.77.0.8, current version is 1.77.0.5.  When I install then restart it just says 'one update failed to install'.  How can I install this? [Edit] I uninstalled it then ran the update and it wouldn't download.  So I went the Lenovo driver download website and noticed that 1.77.0.5 is the current version for my computer, so maybe 1.77.0.8 doesn't exist?  I downloaded 1.77.0.5 and reinstalled that, 1.77.0.8 is still presented by the update program though.  Why is the Update program suggesting it then?  This isn't the first time I've have ThinkVantage Update present the wrong drivers.  http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/W520-Can-t-install-updates-for-Intel-WiDi-or-W...

Start System Updater and almost immediately  (at 3% progress) get:ThinkVantage System Update has encountered a problem and needs to close....and it just won't run. z61p + vistaI never log on as admin - well allmost never - i cant get rid of my UNIX habits However, these days i HAVE TO, because a few months ago after a fantastic system update, i cant run system update anymore as a user with the Run As Admin option.How can this happen ? What on EARTH could be the difference between running as Admin and running as user, requesting admin rights ? *SIGH* So since then i spend my time switching user to admin.. nice run lenovo, keep the good things up. And PLEASE can anyone tell me, why System Update needs to get package information about and only about Help Center evey single time i wish to update ? Hi there I have a rather annoying problem with my T440s (Win7): Some programs, such as ThinkVantage System Update and MATLAB installer won't connect to the internet. (Some other installers had that problem too, but those aren't as well known.) They both prompt error messages saying I should review my proxy settings. I do not use a proxy, though, and neither have I set any other program to use a proxy. Internet connection works properly with other programs (Firefox, Thunderbird, IE). Solutions Ive tried (and didn't help):- start MATLAB installer "as administrator"- re-install ThinkVantage System Update- switching off Windows Firewall- adding the respective programs to Windows Firewall's list of allowed programs- using different networks (home, work, uni, uni via VPN) Any idea what could cause my problem or how to solve it would be much appreciated!

I really hope somebody to offer here a solution for the following problem. Today morning I start the ThinkVantageSystem update to check for new versions of drivers. Till then i had the older version of System update 4.01... after I start it, the application told there is a new version and it must be installed and the program will now close and install the new version of TVSU - 4.03.0007. Well all OK..it was installed started checked and after I closed it. This evening I open it to see what it offers me among the optional updates and...crash! Message: "ThinkVantage system update has stopped working....windows is checking for a solution to the problem" ....and this is non-stop. I uninstall it, ccleaner, restarted after install and uninstall...nothing. All stays the same. I'm using Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. Here are the complete details of the model I own.Another question if somebody got a clue on this problem. Google chrome bugging on some videos in youtube (only some). It shows a black screen but the audio goes ok. Even when you hover the mouse on that black screen I can click on links or buttons inside. It is a kind of known bug and I searched a lot but nothing helped till the moment. Any suggestions?

Hi I downloaded ~ 350 Mb of updates. The system downloads all of them, and knows that it has downloaded them after re-boot, but it won't install them. The only option I have to continue is "Cancel". "Next" is Greyed out. If I click the update button, I get a 722.52 kB file that leads to the page above. Hello all,I have a T60p that I have just reinstalled windows XP on and I am having trouble with the ThinkVantage System Update software.  Every time I run it, it give me "System is up to date." and "No packages applicable to your system were found."  Now, I know that the system is indeed not up to date b/c I don't have most of the drivers (bluetooth/wireless/ect) and none of the nicer software (power management and such).  In the past when I would reinstall windows I could just start up the system update and it would install pretty much everything that I needed pretty quickly.  Just some other infos: windows is completely updated (XP SP3) and I also went ahead and updated the bios to 1.15 just to see if that would work but I am still having a problem.  If anyone has any ideas, I would be most appreciative.

I refurbished a Thinkpad T400 (2.2GHz dual core, 8GB memory, 320GB HDD) with Windows 7 x64, installing the OS, applying 150+ updates, then I installed ThinkVantage System Update 5.05 and allowed it to download and install updates for all the drivers in the system.  When I next went to Windows Update to download more updates, it did not allow me to do so, stating that the update service was not started.  Well, the update service and the RPC service on which it relies WERE started in the list of services.  Windows event files showed some errors, but I was unable to trace them back to Thinkvantage Update.  I tried the automated Windows Fixit and it did not solve the problem.  I also found I was unable to download anything with IE after running ThinkVantage update, so I had to download the Fixit on another computer, put it on a flash stick and then run it on the T400. Well, I could not leave the system as it was, so I reinstalled Windows 7 and immediately installed ThinkVantage System Update 5.05 again, then downloaded and installed all the drivers it found.  Same problem.  Windows Update would no longer update. Finally, I reinstalled Windows 7 again, updated the drivers with files I had downloaded previously from the Lenovo web site, and proceeded to finish off the complete Windows 7 install with all the Microsoft updates.  This time, I did not install and run ThinkVantage Update. I have previously used ThinkVantage System U... This sounds familiar.  If you run TVSU again, don't allow it to install the Intel storage driver.  I've seen this several times.  For some reason a buggy (or maybe just inappropriate for the hardware) driver gets installed that breaks Windows Update.
 
If you're willing to give it a try, run TVSU and see if it's offering a storage driver.  Don't accept that one but let the others install and see if WU is still running correctly.  If thigs are OK, hide the storage driver.

I have following problem. When I try to update the system the packages is downloaded, message appears that they were installed successfully and I'm asked wheather I want to restart system. I do.After restart the packages are still on the list in updater. I tried to reinstall updater but it did not helped.

Hi, everyone! I've installed some newest programs through Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update and just after that my wireless connection has stopped working. Here are the installed programs: ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 32-bit version 15.0.24.0;ThinkPad Power Management Driver version 1.60;ThinkPad Modem Adapter version 7.80.8.0;ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration Package Setup version 3.11.0001;Inter Wireless WiFi Link for Window XP version 13.02.0000;ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows XP version 5.62;ThinkPad Power Manager version 1.88;Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (32-bit) version 6.0.5514.61.I've got a Lenovo T61 with Windows XP SP3. Also in Device Manager, there are now the two "Other devices" bellow with a yellow question point and a yellow exclamation point by side: Bluetooth Hands-free Audio;Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver. Does anyone have any idea what can be done to have these issues solved? P.S.: when I click Fn+F5 it shows only the Bluetooth Radio.

Hello and welcome, I've seen something like this on XP machines after updates a couple of times now - my T61, a friend's T400, and his daughter's T61.  I guess that makes 3  _Maybe_  your situation is the same. The fix in all 3 cases was to go to device manager and uninstall the wifi driver.  Then scan for hardware changes and let it reinstall the driver.  Something about how Access Connections or some other networking mangement thingy was hooking the drivers I guess. On both of the friend's machines, the wired networking was also b0rked.  Same fix there. Z.

Hello, I have a new T61. I installed XP Sp2 using the recovery discs. Im trying to do a Thinkvantage System Update  to update drivers in the computer, however, when I go to the ThinkVantage System Update and click on Get New Updates after a few seconds on the first step (Searching for agent updates) a pop up windows appears saying An error occurred while gathering user Information.  It appeas I cannot even find new updates. Anybody seen this before and know how to fix it? Thanks in advance!Dan Moderator Note;  Please do not duplicate posts as it splits the discussion. Hi,

Since the update, Microsoft is pushing strange Update Packages to me. Before the Update, everything was fine, now the Text says i.e.:
for AMD64 based systems KB4051963

but what the heck, I do have a x64 based system (Intel).

I don't now now if it is just the text what is wrong or if MS is really pushing wrong Update packages onto my computer.

Anyone having a similar issue?

It’s OK, it’s just the way MS have worded the update. It’s fine to download & install.
amd64 based is just meaning that it is x64 based windows instead of x86 (32 bit). AMD owns the IP for 64-bit processes that we all use. Doesn't matter if it is AMD or INTEL .

Hi, I recently installed Windows 8.1 Enterprise (off MSDN) on an Intel 530 mSATA in my M92z at work. When I went to install all drivers/tools via SystemUpdate, the application reported back that no valid packages for my system could be found. As there are already Windows 8.1-compatible drivers on the M92z drivers page, I guess this is merely an issue of updating the data in the SystemUpdate back-end database (there was the same issue when Windows 8 originally was out for enterprise customers on MSDN a while back) so the software "knows" which packages to select. Any information on when SystemUpdate will be able to find (and subsequently install) packages for Windows 8.1 on an M92z?

I am getting prepared to do a clean install of windows 8.1 64 Bit on an M92z 3314-CTO all in one, Non TouchSo far I have been able to download all of the drivers from the Support site.  I did the following to prepare for this: 1. Since all my data is stored in //Users/UserName/ I ;   I just backed up that user name to my NAS    Then for double redundancy I copied that same folder as well to a 4 TB SATA Drive in a Drive Dock.2. Did a Program Audit, figured out where all of my installers are, assembled them in a folder on the NAS as well as a    Folder on the USB Drive Dock3. Double and triple check all info to be sure it is somewhere besides the System drive. Now it is just a matter of Going for It and giving a bit of the Lord to it and a prayer from the computer gods.So far all the research I have done Windows 8.1 Pro x64 should run fine on this system.  I am hoping it will,  I actually called support to verify if this was a Touch Enabled system or Non Touch, they stated it was a Touch Enabled system but somehow they forgot to install the correct board and display.  So per support and my warranty I have a new system coming at no charge.  I just have to take it down to a local service center and have it done.  Which I am very willing to do since I will be having a Touch capable OS with Windows 8.  Otherwise Considering that this is what I do for a living (OS Installs) this should be fairly pai... Hi. Got a new R61 with XP Pro last week. Did Systems Update and updated essentially all Thinkvantage stuff (mistake in hindsight). After this my Fn + F3,F7,F8,F9 keys and Thinkvantage keys no longer do anything though all the apps like Presentation Manager or Productivity Center still work if launched directly from Start menu. No luck with reinstalling Hotkey drivers. Answer:Fn keys and Thinkvantage keys not working post system update XP R61

When you ran System Update and selected ThinkPad Power Manager 1.30, it should have also selected THinkPad Power Manager Driver 1.44 (which you have) AND ThinkPad Hotkeys Features Setup 2.07.1003.
 
Try running System Update again and see if this package is available, it should be. Install it and see if this helps.

Lenovo System Update tells me that all is up to date! I searched at Lenovo for new drivers for windows 8.1They asked me exactly what notebook I use. For the x1 carbone 3460-4LG (checked 3 times because I couldn't believe it) they discribed my computer as:i7-3667U(3.2GHz), 4GB RAM, 256GB Solid State Drive, 14in 1600x900 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 4c Li-Ion, Win8 Pro 64. My notebook has 8GB RAM, 180GB SSD and (as I believe) no carbone x1 has 1GB Ethernet, because it has no network connector at all! So first question: can I believe the suggestions of lenovo for new drivers? There are several drivers released in October 2013 that I surely do not have already installed.That means, Lenovo System Update doesn't work any more, without error message! Question two: Has Lenovo a solution to repair their defective updater? Yes we have the same Problem with Thinkpad x230, T530 and W530. Under Windows 8.1 System Update doesen't find any drivers. So now we have to download every single driver..... I hope really Lenovo will find a solution very soon......
