Preferred Solution: How to disable the touchpad on my Lenovo Ideapad G555 0873?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I've got a Lenovo G555 - 2gb - AMD M320 cpu - HD4200 gfx - 500gb and was wondering if there were any savvy owners (unlike me) who figured out how to backup their BIOS before upgrading it.  I upgraded the BIOS, and crashes became unbearable, recovery attempts fail with blue screen or justs hangs after progress bar in the beginning.  I even tried installing fresh with new windows 7 disks which also failed, either blue screen during start.  The funny thing is hirens windows mini-xp works without a problem, and can run memory diagnostics all night (no problems reported, by the way)  I believe it may be because it doesn't load drivers  and/or  rely on advance hardware features that normal operating systems check for.  I must add even linux fails soon after/during checking of PCI  features since you can see linux boot process in text form. Sorry to throw out a lot of assumptions but if anyone does have a copy of the BIOS before the one listed on Lenovo website it would be worth trying.  (can I even flash in windows in a windows live CD?) Thanks for any technical advise,  (I did phone lenovo tech support who were friendly enough but said older BIOS versions are not available)  # UPDATE# Sent the computer back under warranty and they replaced the processor.# Everything has been working has normal since then.# I am now a happy bunny.

Hi everyone, My laptop G555 manufacter of 0873 just blacked out yesterday. I just turned on my laptop and was using it for about 15 min watching a video when it just blacked out. The computer then turned off and on several times like it was being putting on and off sleep mode. I felt the fan and it wasn't really hot since i was using for about 15 min prior. At some point, the laptop flashed red (the indicator for low battery) even though it was running from the cord (and not from the battery only)I left it alone overnight, maybe something did overheat. But now i push the power button, i hear it turn on but screen remained black/off. Sometimes, once it turns on, it stays on but no visual. Once, it was able to get to the screen where it asks to start windows normally or in safe mode.Other times, it turns on then off like sleep mode. I have no idea what is wrong..please help Thank you

Answer:G555 mft:0873 Help!

try this: remove the battery, unplug the ac-power, press power button for 30-40 seconds, replace the battery and check if it works.also, if you can, try to remove/replace/swap the ram sticks. again, if you have hdmi/vga cable, check if the issue persists with external monitor.

i was just typing and all of a sudden the screen blacks out and i figured maybe it went to sleep for some odd reason so i just hit the power button(which i set to act as the sleep button) to bring it back up. it came back up and then 2 minutes later did it again. now i cant even see anything when i start the computer. if you tilt the screen and shine a light at an angle onto the screen you can see very faintly. but i'm not sure what's wrong with it. i'd like some opinions before my hubby (the computer tech guy around here...) decides to take it apart and play with it.

Answer:g555 model 0873 display problems...keeps going black

If you have an external monitor, shut your laptop off & connect the external monitor, then reboot.   If you have an adequate display of data on the external monitor & nothing visible on your internal monitor, you have narrowed the problem down to existing on the internal monitor.    This solution may not work if you have set your BIOS to not recognize an external monitor on boot up &/or if you have adjusted your graphics adapter drivers to only display on the internal monitor.   You can modify your laptop's settings to automatically detect and display on an external monitor but I realize you may not be able to see your display long enough to adjust the settings.     Another thing which occasionally works to bring the display back is to shut the lid and then open it.  This usually triggers the screen lighting to turn off & then turn on again.   Some laptops have pressure switches in the vicinity of the keyboard so that when the lid is closed, it presses down on the switch and causes the screen to go black.   If the switch malfunctions, it can cause your screen to go dark like this.         The faint things you can still see on the screen might well be all the icons, etc. you usually see on your display, only the back lighting may have shut off.    Shine a super bright light on the screen, or take it outdoors in full sunlight, look at it at every possibl... Hey all. Got windows 7 on my g555, with truecrypt on the drive, if it matters.  Last night, closed down the cover of my laptop before i fell asleep, like always, today it doesn't respond at all when I opened it back up.  Forced it to shut down, and haven't seen anything but a black screen since. The power light comes on, the fan comes on, and that's about it.  Can't get to the bios, can't do ANYTHING.  Tried unplugging it for a while, pressing power 10 times, holding power down for a minute, ran the battery entirely dry THEN discharged the caps, ...I've read many solutions where its the built up static charge that's the problem, but not here.  I've tried all versions of the solution I could find, all very similar, but none worked.  I took out my RAM and put it back in, and same for the hard drive.  No dice. The only lights I get at all are the power light, and the battery charging light next to it.  Can't get the CAPS LOCK, num lock, any of that to do anything.  Cannot boot by CD/DVD as I cannot change the bios, and can't get any response from any keys or key combos that I can think of (including the one-touch restore). Any advice?  What can I try here to get this sucker going again?

I got my new G555 yesterday and love it except for one thing:  I have no way to configure the **bleep** touchpad.  If I look under Mouse, there is nothing.  I've even downloaded drivers from the 3000 V100 (which is the laptop I had before this one), but that was a handicapped version of its usual self.  I need to adjust its sensitivity, as my thumb always hits it while I type and destroys whatever I'm writing.  I can't even just turn on the click function on it.  I can't do anything.   Does anyone have a solution?  The drivers for the G555 are useless. Thanks!

Type "synaptic"
Double Click "SmartSense"
Slide the Slider all the way to "Off"
Click "Close" and then "OK"

This will Disable the Anti-Palm detection which prevents simultaneous Keyboard and Mouse use. I recommend you re-enable this feature when you're not gaming as otherwise you risk problems while typing.

On my new Lenovo IdeaPad Y410, the touchpad, while nice, is rather large, and when I type, the edge of my palm frequently bumps it slightly, counting as a click and completely throwing off where I'm typing. There's the disable-touchpad-button with Fn+F6, but it doesn't seem to actually disable the touchpad, even though the indicator light goes on on the front. Any fix for this?

I am used to keeping my thumb on the button while moving the mouse using a finger on the touchpad.  With this touchpad, the button area itself is also part of the touch sensitive area.  So the touchpad considers me as having two fingers on the touchpad and if I move my thumb on the button, it will move the mouse accordingly. Is there a way to disable touch over the button areas? Thanks! Ideadpad U310 Touch / Win 8.1 Professional

Hi there I'm on the verge of returning my new U410 which, despite reviews indicating the contrary, has a very frustrating touchpad that the palm sensitivity adjustor does not fix.  In fact I don't think it adjusts the sensitivity one iota. So I've read that Fn+F6 or Fn+F8 should allow me to disable it while I'm writing, but they do nothing.  I'm working in Microsoft Word, if that matters (it shouldn't though, right?).  I'm on Win8, computer is brand new and I installed the latest touchpad driver but must say it never launched or I never saw it launch (I'm not sure it should, or if it should just be in the background).   Between that and the worst wireless problems ever, not to mention that the heavier graphics card apparently does nothing to improve video performance, I am tempted to return this.  So frustrating.  Please help if you know about the touchpad though, being able to disable it would go a long way!

Answer:Disable touchpad function keys not working Ideapad u410 Windows 8

hi bwrightd,

Regarding your concern:
1. If you have the same keyboard layout like in this picture (hotkey mode disabled in the BIOS) then you just need to press the key below to enable/disable the touchpad.

Alternatively, you can also use Touchfreeze to automatically disable the Touchpad while typing.

2. For the wireless issue, you may wanna check this thread as other users found it helpful to resolve the issue.
3. For the video performance, try the following:
    a. Set the power settings to high performance (Link to picture)
    b. Configure Nvidia Control Panel's "Power management mode" from Adaptive to Maximum Performance - see this guide
    c. Follow this guide on how to add an app to use with the Nvidia Optimus Technology.

Hope this helps

In June a friend bought a Lenovo Z50-70 laptop running Win 8.1. He particularly dislikes touchpads so uses a mouse. In 8.1 I was able to disable the touchpad for him, via Device Manager. He's now updated to Win 10 and the touchpad has come back to life. I've been trying to disable it again, so far without success.

In "Settings", the only option under touchpad is to alter the delay on using "click". No help there so I went to Control Panel.

In "Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices" there are only two options, "HID-compliant mouse" (which has a disable option) and "Lenovo Pointing Device", which I assume refers to the touch pad (is this assumption right?) and which can be uninstalled but has no "disable" option.

In "Device Manager > Human Interface Devices" amongst other things there are two entries both named "HID-compliant vendor-defined device". Both can potentially be disabled, but without further knowledge I'm disinclined to disable them in case I inadvertently disable the mouse in the process.

Any advice will be appreciated

Hi, the configuration utility for the Sentelic touchpad built in the Lenovo IdeaPad 100 refuses to start. The OS is 64-bit Windows 7 (Bulgarian). Hello there, I've bought this laptop ( Lenovo IdeaPad 300 ) about 2 or 3 months ago and I've had the same issue all the time. First, I met the PalmTracking [Elan] Issue which is configuring PalmTracking through Elan or Windows doesn't work until I have found a fix which is to uninstall the Elan Driver untill they update it but it lead to another issue which is it gets automatically reinstalled after a restart, so I need a fix that won't need me to do it repetitvely. And then my trackpad suddenly just started moving so fast and randomly clicked about 50 or 100 Clicks per second ( not the real, approx with my vision ) everytime I just touch the TouchPad. I don't know what caused this issue. Note: I bought a mouse so I can use the laptop in a better way and in playing games, but I still use the trackpad. Thanks for your time.

well you can check it by following these steps

It should pull up a windows that has tabs on it. Last tab to the right will say if it is an ELAN or SYNAPTICS tab like this

Hi,On my U330, the mouse options are in the usual place for most Windows PCs: Control Panel / Mouse So right click on the 'Start' icon in the bottom left corner, and select 'Control Panel'. Then select the 'Mouse' option, and there is a tab called 'Pointer Options' where you will find the pointer speed selector. If you want to change the behaviour of the touch pad on the mouse, go to the 'ELAN' tab and you will find them there.

Hello Lenovo Community!  I'm a proud owner of a Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK. I like this laptop alot, even though I only got it a week ago. There is a problem, however. My touchpad is "jumping" at specific time intervals (approx. at a 3 second interval). The "lag" doesn't last more than 0.5 milliseconds, but it's really, really annoying. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the Synaptics touchpad drivers (I use Windows 10). I tried the ones from Lenovo Support, then the generic ones. I also tried disabling PalmCheck. It didn't work. I tried disabling Realtek Audio Manager, as some people on these forums had a problem with the audio driver causing some kind of conflict, on other laptop models. But that did not work either. Then I installed Ubuntu, and the problem still persisted. I have this annoying touchpad problem even in boot menus! (like Windows/Ubuntu menus, before installing the OS).I opened up a program, which is incorporated into the Synaptics Driver on Windows, called MoodPad, which basically draws a line when you swipe your finger across the touchpad surface. I noticed there are gaps inbetween. I posted some photos to make things more clear. The intervals are fixed, no matter if you swipe the finger across or not. For instance, if you happen to swipe it 2 seconds after the previous "lag" had occured, the next one will occur after 1 second (there is a 3 second interval, as I said before), and so on. Here are the photos from MoodPad. The red circles rep... Read more

Hello, I can't get the touchpad scrolling to work with Windows. I tried installing/reinstalling and updating the driver but nothing worked. I tried installing Ubuntu on the laptop, and there I got multitouch scrolling even without drivers, so I don't really think the touchpad can't support scrolling.I'm running latest Windows 10 with latest drivers from Lenovo support page. Why is this problem? Is it the Windows or the official drivers for Windows are bugged?(It won't work with 7/8.1 either, tried them all)

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 100 15-IBY touchpad scroll not work...

Seems like the problem is that Lenovo thought this would be acceptable place to cut costs (not having any touchpad scrolling).  They are very very wrong, this thing is going right back to the store.

Hello, I received my new IdeaPadY460 about three weeks ago. Right out of the box I noticed that the touchpad was acting strange. For instance; cursor freezing, zooming documents and web pages in and out when just trying to move cursor to a different location, cursor changing to the 'move' icon for no reason, cursor stuttering when trying to move it across the screen. scrolling activated even though fingers are not in the scrolling area of the touchpad .... just to name a few.

To the aforementioned, I figured that I just needed to adjust the 'Touch Sensitivity' and 'PalmCheck' settings. I went through every conceivable combination on all the touchpad features to no avail. Only thing that made the touchpad a little better was to remove the Synaptics driver and use the touchpad as a dumb mouse. Even then the cursor would 'fly' across the screen and would 'disappear'.

I then tried switching out the (Synaptics) driver to different versions (upgrades and downgrades). This did not alleviate or rectify the problem. CAVEAT: using any other (Synaptics) driver than the one on Lenovo's website (version 14.0.18.0 as of this writing) will cause loss of the Navbar's Energy Management, OneKey Theater, and volume and mute button functionality. This driver provides special functionality for these buttons.

I have searched the internet for this problem on a Y460 but did not find any. It did become apparent that Lenovo has inherent issues with touchpads on other devises. Most ... Read more

Have you seen this thread?http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/14107-windows-10-mouse-lagging.htmlThis guy claims that disabling start at boot of Realtek application called FMAPP.exe solved the problem. I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBD a few days ago, and after a series of problems that I manage to fix, I woke up this morning to find out that my keyboard and touchpad are not working. Last night (about 9 hours ago) it was working fine. Anyone have any idea how can I fix this?

Hello My Ideapad 100S has in the last couple of days developed a curious problem. If I try to drag something using the touchpad, after holding down the left button, when I move my finger across the pad the machine behaves as if its receiving multiple double-taps rather than mouse-moves. So, for instance, if you do this on a map it does lots of zoom-ins. Any ideas, anyone?

I bought a ideapad 31014IKB one week back and now my touchpad had an issue. Am using Windows 10. The Cursor loses control and going out of my control, moving here and there on the screen, also without touching the pad, the cursor is moving, sometimes closes & opens the window screens automatically like someone has took control of my laptop as if in teamviewer. Sometimes touchpad freezes. I tried to update driver, but still have the problem. All these happened after my initial updates with the laptop. Can anyone help on these?

Answer:Lenovo ideapad 31014IKB Touchpad issue

Hello Dhose,Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Double check if the unit is compatible with the Windows updates, it may be causing the issues.

https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

Try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

I got my screen replaced a few weeks ago and when I got my laptop back my touchpad was not working. It would work on and off but everytime I turned of my laptop and turned it back on the touchpad would stop working. I tried a few things like updating my laptop and troubleshooting and it would get my touchpad to work for a little bit but then it would just stop working again. Its now not even showing up in the device manager. I don't know if it's a dirver issue with windows 10 or if something happened when my screen was being replaced. I tried looking on the lenovo website for downloads but I don't see any windows 10 touchpad downloads for this laptop model. HELP. I have a mouse that plugs into my usb but i'd really like my touchpad to work again.

I have a problem in the touchpad, it doesn't work at all, (doesn't appear in device manager and the pointer disappears when i unplug the USB mouse) I tried all methods, the fn +f6, updated Bios, updated Drivers, re-installed Windows, even I made a test with a Linux live CD and everything worked except the touchpad. In BIOS there isn't any options regarding the touchpad as wellI was wondering if there is something needed to be enabled in firmware? I wonder. what can I do at this point, I am using an external USB mouse, but I need the touchpad to be working as well.* the laptop is new, there is no physical damage at all

Hello, I have purchases this laptop 4 months ago and everything has been working fine. However today when I turned the laptop on, the touchpad was unresponsive. I have not made any system updates, or whatever prior to this malfunctioning. It seems to just have stopped working out of nowhere. I have tried uninstalling the synaptics driver and reinstalling, I have tried older drivers and the newest, also the standard microsoft touchpad driver. Nothing seems to fix it, it is completely unresponsive.Might it be a hardware failure? I appreciate all suggestions.

First off, I'm going to say this laptop was a Christmas gift from a friend. I do not have ANY computers in this house aside from this one. I use this laptop for blogging and listening to music as well as job hunting, however, it will not register the keyboard or touchpad at all. I called Customer Support and the best answer they could give me was to bring it back to the store I got it from--this was an incompetent answer to the problem. I have tried touching and holding the power button for 15 seconds and when it restarts, the problem is not fixed. None of the keys are working. Period. I have a mouse for a gaming computer, however, I do not have a keyboard to plug in to use. If I could get a response to this, that would be GREAT!!! I cannot log in or do anything with my lap top right now and am currently stuck doing things from my cell phone.

Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating. I searched this: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?   for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none. Can anyone help me fix this problem before I get a refund from this potentially bad purchase? FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected. Thanks for the help.

Dear Lenovo community. I have recently began to feel the effects of PalmCheck - the 'Palm Tracking' setting for my touchpad - after starting to play games on the laptop, which needs me to simultaneously use the keyboard and mouse. Initially I thought this problem could be fixed when going to synaptics settings for my trackpad, but I was wrong; the 'Palm Tracking' setting was unchangable in the 'Advanced' section. I know that I have the most recent trackpad driver, so what do I need to do to be able to alter the settings of 'Palm Tracking'? Thanks for reading, Zane

I am currently having trouble disabling hyperthreading on my Lenovo Ideapad Y510P. The reason for this is because Rainbow Six Siege crashes constantly and most Reddit posts have suggested to turn it off. I have tried various solutions, but none of them have really worked. I have tried turning my cores up to four and higher and yet no luck. I cannot find hyperthreading in the BIOS setup screen. In-depth specs for my laptop will be put below. My touchpad stoped working and need help

Hello. I?ve recently bought Lenovo Ideapad 520, with which I am very satisfied, it has a nice built quality and it works very well, but I have some concern regarding its touchpad. If I compare it with the touchpad on my old Asus laptop, Lenovo touchpad is step-down, when it comes to quality and overall feeling whilst using it. When I press down on the touchpad to click, there is a slight gap, about a millimeter, before it activates a click, this gap is noticeable when I am taping or scrolling on touchpad because it produces a sound, some kind of rumble, which is really noticeable in quiet environments, like the library, and it has become a little annoying, if I'm honest. It seems like touchpad is not fixed to the housing and is a little loose. Now my question is, is this normal and expected behavior of Lenovo touchpads, or did I get a faulty/bad quality touchpad? I tried contacting local Lenovo service and they cannot verify if there is something wrong with my unit, unless I send it to them, which I currently cannot do, so any help here would be greatly appreciated. I?ve found this video from someone having a similar issue, but on a Dell laptop:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkNaAY9YJBc Thanks!

hi Razorbacktrack,

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

If your PC came with a Synaptics Touchpad, can you try to:

1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings
2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you have an ELAN touchpad, try to:

3. Adjust the PalmTracking option under Additional Tab on the ELAN Smart Pad settings to the minimum (see spoiler)
4.If same problem, press WindowsKey+R then type appwiz.cpl. From the program list, uninstall lenovo pointing device, reboot.the PC and test (you can re-install this later by nagvigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad).

Let me know your findings.

Hello, Just recently my lenovo ideapad's mousepad / touchpad has stopped being responsive. Initially about a month ago, the left mouse button (just below the touchpad) was being unresponsive. I thought that the issue with this was that i was over-pressing it too much (i had been playing a website game that required me to constantly press the left-mouse button and as a result i believe this led to it being unresponsive). So after this had happened, i decided to view my mouse options. When i found the mouse options, i decided to switch the (now unresponsive) left-mouse button with the right-mouse button (again, if others are not familar with the model i am mentioning here, both the left and right mouse buttons are located just below the touchpad on the overall keyboard). So here i thought my problems were solved ; initially i felt that i had overpressed the left-mouse button too much and as a result i decided to switch with the right-mouse button via mosue settings. I hardly right-click anything, so the left mouse was now to be used for that function. So now the right-mouse button would be my primary button to click anything and everything. Problem now is that i'm facing a new problem. I can still click and press, but that's ONLY when it allows me to. For example: as of right now, i am typing this on mozilla firefox. A few hours ago, i would not have been able to eve open mozilla firefox due to the fact that the touchpad and mousepad were not working. I have had ... Read more

Answer:lenovo ideapad n580 touchpad / mousepad not working

hi nkd68,

This is possibly a sign that the touchpad is wearing out. One thing that you could try is to uninstall the Touchpad driver from the Control Panel and/or the Device Manager and let the Windows generic touchpad driver kick-in.

If you get the same problems, I recommend you contact lenovo for service as this is most likely an imminent Touchpad failure.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y570 Touchpad "Tapping" Issue

hi,is your synaptics touchpad driver installed?if yes, you have to change the settings from Device manager-hardware and printers-mouse. After opening mouse properties go to "Device Settings" tab and click on settings. After that you have to open "Tapping" page and enable it if it is not enabled.  If you don't have the driver installed, you can download it from the link below and do the same things above if the problem persists. just chose the right operating system http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

My IdeaPad U310 Touch running Windows 7 is having touchpad problems. With no touchpad drivers installed, it shows up as a generic "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" and has basic functionality - I can move the pointer and click, but no gestures, scrolling or other touch features.

Link to image 1

I then installed 0wto11ww.exe, "TouchPad Driver (Synaptics, Cypress)" from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u310-... . Version 15.3.33.0/2.3.6.31, released 4/24/2012.

After installing, I manually updated the driver via Device Manager and rebooted. Now the computer identifies the touchpad as a "Lenovo pointing device".

However, the computer doesn't respond to the touchpad at all. No mouse moving or clicking is working. Enabling/disabling the touchpad via Fn+F6 has no effect. I rebooted in safe mode and the touchpad was still unresponsive.

Link to image 2

I think I'm on the right track, because when I installed 0wto11ww.exe, the touchpad configuration tab showed up in control panel's "Mouse Properties". I can configure all the touchpad's advanced features now, but Windows 7 continues to ignore the input.

Any ideas on how to further troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 TouchPad ignore click area?

hi, smiegles

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you access the Touchpad settings, Under
Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Mouse.
There should be a synaptics Tab on the top right.
Click that and click the settings on the lower right

Check the tapping option if you have this feature to disable
If not please send a screenshot of your synaptics option like this

This tapping options have an option for the bottom left and the bottom right action or adjusting tap zones.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Hello, after last Windows update my touchpad gets disabled when laptop is on battery, when it's plugged in and charging everything works well. I can enable touchpad with shortcut on F6 key, but after few seconds of not using the touchpad, it disables by itself. I also noticed that I can enable touchpad by clicking the physical left or right click below it, but not by tapping the touchpad. Also, I think it has something to do with Power Management, but when I go to Manage->Device Manager->Mice and pointing devices->HID-compliant mouse and go to Properties, I don't have the Power Management tab there. Drivers are up to date, and there are no mouse drivers on Lenovo support page. I ran out off ideas, any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I would like to ask for your advice. After clean install of Windows 10 my touchpad is no longer working properly. I have Lenovo Ideapad G455 which has Alps touchpad. Everything was fine in Windows 7 but Windows 10 automatically installed Synaptics driver and it's not possible to install Alps driver which I have downloaded on Lenovo website. It says because of compatibility problems. I tried Alps driver for different Lenovo model from G series but it didn't help. Do you have any idea what should I try next? Thank you. Jaromir

Hey all, so I've been trying to play games without a mouse on my laptop but I can't use both the keyboard and the touchpad at the same time.  I've looked at other forums but unfortunately none of them seem to work for this specific model.  Does anyone have any suggestions on methods or drivers I could install?

Answer:Lenovo P400 Ideapad: Unable to use keyboard/ touchpad at same time

hi bowlinger,

Welcome to the Forums!

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

If your PC came with a Synaptics Touchpad, try to:
1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.

Link to picture

If you have an ELAN touchpad, try to:
2. Adjust the PalmTracking option under Additional Tab on the ELAN Smart Pad settings to the minimum and observe.

Link to picture

If the problem remains, consider removing the Touchpad driver under Control Panel (large icon view) > Programs and reboot.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, For some time now my mousepad/touchpad on my Lenovo P500 IdeaPad has not been working properly. The "right click" and "left click" functions does not work, only the tap on the left side works. I can't scroll with it, I can't right click with it and sometimes the I can't even left tap. I have to use my external mouse in order to be able to right, left click, scroll, etc. Is this a hardware or software issue? I have roll back the software of my touchpad/mousepad and re-install the latest version. I downloaded the latest version from the Lenovo website and after I open it to install it opens a window with a message that says: "No appropiate driver to install". I am assuming that it means I have already the latest version of the driver installed. Any ideas on what is going on?

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad P500 touchpad/mousepad not working properly.

hi chemist87,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

From your observation and the troubleshooting steps that you have done, it may look like the touchpad have gotten defective. If the touchpad's right or left clicker still doesn't respond if you uninstall the touchpad driver or boot in Safe Mode (Windows will use a generic touchpad driver), then you will need to contact Lenovo for service as this is definitely a touchpad malfunction.

I have had my Y510p for only a few weeks but it has taken me many evenings of hard work to get the laptop into a usable state. The laptop came with Windows 8 and a cost free update to Windows 8.1 in the app store. Upgrading created a whole slew of problems not only with drivers but also with the scaling of applications such as Chrome which required googling to find how to change the settings so that a decent font resolution was possible for all apps. One of the initial most irritating problems was that the touchpad could not be set to be stable - it was constantly jittery and when right clicking it often took several attempts to get a right click menu up on the screen before any of the options could be clicked. Also it was impossible to set the touchpad to do single finger vertical scrolling. The final main irritation was that there was no way to set it so that a gentle tap on an appropriate area of the touchpad would give the equivalent of a right click on a mouse. Usng the clickable bottom right of the touchpad was very frustrating all the time as well as  noisy, and I was close to abandonning the touchpad altogether, and resorting to plugging in a mouse instead. This remained a complete frustration until earlier this evening when I finally found the solution, not through the Lenovo site but on another laptop forum.  The Lenovo support matrix shows that the current driver available for the Synaptics touchpad is version 17.0.10.12.  On the ... Hi, Recently the touchpad for my laptop has stopped working on many occasions. Sometimes I use a USB mouse which works perfectly but whenever I use the touchpad the cursor keeps freezing. It doesn't happen at a specific time, it just happens randomly and very frequently. In order to make it work I have to tap the touchpad really hard over and over again or just mess with it until the cursor starts to work. It works for about 30 seconds and then stops working until I mess with the touchpad to make it work again.  Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I hope you will allow me to link to the experts here. It has not been possible to clarify the information with the OS or notebook manufacturer.

Problems using a Lenovo Ideapad s300 primarily for use as a desktop machine prompts the clarification of possible causes and remedies. A link to a previous unsolved post to resolve the problems is documented at [1]. This post attempts to clarify the minimal mouse and touchpad driver requirements. The s300 uses an external display and mouse. The machine performed well, and reliably for approx. the first 7 months until 21.05.2015. After an automatic Windows 8.1 update; it began independently deleting folders, files and Desktop icons on the mouse Left Double-Click in Windows 8.1.

An obvious problem with the installed driver is in Control Panel -> Mouse Properties -> which displayed a "Hardware" tab, but no "Device Settings" tab as in [2]. The touchpad cannot be deactivated. As shown in [1] Device Manager displays no "Mouse" driver conflicts. This suggests a Mouse driver or Touchpad driver problem. The presently installed mouse drivers are shown in Device Manager at [1].

What are the minimal required mouse, keyboard and touchpad drivers for Lenovo Ideapad s300?

Clarification:
1) When is the Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit) required?
2) What is the recommended procedure to install the Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-... Read more

I just purchashed Lenovo Z480 recently and I installed it with Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. The touchpad driver I got is from Cypress, not synaptic. I had used Synaptic Touchpad driver before with another laptop. I found out the Cypress driver lacks of many features found in Synaptic such as: 1. No two-finger tap feature to simulate middle mouse button click (this is the most dissapointing).2. No one-finger horizontal/vertical scroll region feature (see this screenshot). 3. No three-finger tap feature to simulate context menu (right click).4. No speed setting for 2-finger scroll up/down feature. The current speed is a bit too high for me.5. Default Tap sensitivity is too low. I had to tap hard just to perform single click. Fortunately, this can be fixed by setting Palm Sensitivity to the lowest Light setting (from Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Mouse -> Cypress TrackPad -> "Click to Change Cypress Trackpad Settings" link  -> Palm Rejection).  I had tried installing generic Synaptic driver, but it seems it is not compatible with the laptop. Most features in Synaptic don't work, the setting in Control Panel -> Mouse -> Synaptic doesn't show anything except basic left/right button settings. Only the one-finger horizontal/vertical scroll region worked.  My questions:1. Why the synaptic driver doesn't work with my Z480? Is it because the touchpad hardware is only compatible with the Cypress driver?2. Is there ... Read more

So i bought a brand new Ideapad about 8 hours ago.  I came home, spent 2 hours updating everything and when I finally sit back to surf the web and listen to music, I relize the headphone jack won't work.  I've tried 2 sets of headphones with no luck.  The speakers on the laptop work and Ive gone over everything to make sure I've not accidently muted something.  When I plug the headphones in it shows that I "Plugged in a device" but it doesn't seem to register anywhere else.  Needless to say I'm hacked off as the best buy I bought it from is an hour away.  So I'm hopinh I'm just overlooking something and it's an easy fix.  Any feedback or assistance is appreciated. Also, I did reinstall the rel tek driver recommended on the Lenovo site with no luck. Thank you.

Have you using a combojack Headset-earphones.

If you already tried a known good Combojack supported earphone and still getting the same issue
I strongly suggest to report it to the reseller right away.

My Ideapad has Alps touchpad which was working fine before the Windows 10 falls update. Suddenly one fine day the two-finger scrolling and right-click button stopped working. I have tried the One-key Recovery and reset the laptop to how it was shipped(with windows 10 installed), but the issue has not resolved. I have seen someone posting about the similar issue where changing the registry value has resolved the issue, but the solution or exact registry values were not provided. If anyone has come across the similar situation and has the solution for the same, please reply to this thread. Thanks.

A few weeks ago my friend bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 laptop pre-installed with Win8. I "Upgraded" to Windows 7 for him, as neither of us can stand the new OS. Usually I have no trouble reinstalling drivers after installing a new OS, but for some reason his touchpad driver will NOT install.I'm using the official driver for his computer, it's apparently a synaptics driver and it says it should work completely fine with Windows 7, but when I try to run the installation, I get the error "Synaptics Device Not Found!"There are a few issues that I believe are related to the driver not being installed that may tell you guys something. When he closes his laptop lid and open it again, his mouse jumps over the screen endlessly, and he cannot use the computer until he restarts. Also, he can't turn his touchpad off, which I assume is a function that comes with the driver.Any help or input is greatly appreciated, if you need any more information please feel free to ask. Thanks again,-Tyler

Answer:Friend's new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 refuses to install touchpad driver.

Are you sure that the touchpad is a Synaptics touchpad and not ElanTech? If it is ElanTech, try uninstalling the presently installed the driver. Then install the driver from the site. While installing the driver do not put a checkmark in the box that says Install Synaptics driver now.

Hey all, I'm brand new to the forums, but I've used the site countless times to help solve problems I've had with various computers.

I'm usually not one to directly ask for computer help, being the acclaimed "Computer Guy" in my circle of friends and family, it takes a little too long to get an answer if I need to fix something fast, but this case is a little different.

Hello, Recently, my ideapad z400 shows weird behaviors between the touchpad and the screen. Sometimes (not always), any motions that involve two fingers , like touching two points on the touchpad, or press the right mouse while hovering other finger on the touch area, the screen will goes off for around 1-2 second. I am not sure if my installing of Sticky Notes software causing such problems, since when I move the mouse like this, I see its figure is transformed in to a tiny scrollbar(!!!) Right now, the problem is not persistent, and my solution is to restart the laptop, or system restore. Do you have any ideas of fixing it? Thanks.

Please can someone tell me if it is ok to disable LENOVO UTILITY in task manager, in order to stop the caps lock indicator from popping up. I have read that the only way to stop the indicator for caps lock and num lock is to disable LENOVO UTILITY in task manager but am concerned as to what else will stop running. Does anyone know what the functions of LENEVO UTILITY actually are as nowhere online can I find a definitive answer? I only purchased the laptop the other day and do not want to break it by removing things that are needed for it to function, however the pop up that appears everytime I press caps lock on my keyboard is driving me insane! Please could someone advise whether disabling LENOVO UTILTY function is a safe thing to do. Thanks Tom Below is original link to the article about resolving caps lock indicator issue from Lenevo support page:https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/HT116807
