G560 Charging Icon shows charging 17 seconds then stops ?

Question: G560 Charging Icon shows charging 17 seconds then stops ?

I have a G560 , when battery is depleted and needs a charge . If I plug my AC adapter in my battery icon shows I have the AC power but the icon shows that it is charging for 17 seconds and then quits showing that it is charging. If I unplug the power supply and then plug it in again. The same 20 seconds thing. I can get the battery to completely recharge all the way up if I plug and unplug. I am wondering if it is a defective voltage regulator problem? I do not want to replace the battery if the battery is not bad. It is just out of warranty by 3 monthes. This just started happening . Thanks and God Bless : )

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hey i have a problem' my acer aspire E1-571 laptop stops chargind after few seconds.. please help

Answer:acer e1-571 stops charging after few seconds

First off, look on the bottom of the computer to see if you see a pinhole for a battery reset. If you do, unplug the system and press and hold that button with a small paperclip for 5 seconds. If that doesn't fix it, I would contact technical support in your region to see about ordering a new adapter. If a replacement adapter does not fix it, you may need repair.

Hello

I've been using the computer without the battery for a long time. Now, when I try to use the battery it is completely discharged (it says 0% º capacity).

It starts charging when plugged but after one or two seconds it stops so it keeps 0% capacity.

Any ideas of what can the problem be?
Thank you

Answer:Tecra A3 battery stops charging after one or two seconds

Hi

Are you 100% sure that the battery stops charging?
How did you check it? What is the status of battery LED?

If you plug the battery the notebook must be off.
Furthermore the charging procedure takes several hours if the battery is empty.
I think you have to connect the AC to the notebook and wait several time.

But if the battery will not charge so either the battery is dead or the notebook electronic malfunctions.

Hi, I have an issue with charging my HP G62-b25SA notebook PC (on Windows 7 Home Premium).  I've noticed that when I plug in the adapter, the icon says 'plugged in, not charging'.  However, I notice that sometimes it will charge for between a few seconds to about a minute (when I first connect the charger) with the orange light showing before I get the 'not charging' message and the light turns blue. The charge does not seem to be going down unusually fast. I have run a battery check with HP Support Assistant and it says 'The battery is functioning correctly but it needs to be calibrated...'(Unfortunately, I can't calibrate it as I can't charge it to 100%...!) I've tried blowing dust out of vents in case it was a heat problem - bit of dust came out - doesn't seem to have made much difference though! I also tried removing the battery and start/ shut down and then replacing it and booting up- read somewhere it might help, but didn't appear to.  Also quite bizarrely, I left the computer switched off overnight (without the charger attached) and this morning when I booted it up, it had more charge than last night (about 50% instead of 40%). When I shut it down, 10 updates automatically installed - don't know if this had anything to do with it?? So really I just wondered if anyone can suggest what might be wrong? Should I buy a new charger or perhaps a new battery? Or is there anything else I can try? (I've read somewhere about inst... Read more

Answer:HP G62 battery icon shows: plugged in, not charging

Hi Mel, Try the following. First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the notebook on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the notebook again.  Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all. Regards, DP-K

Hello, My Thinkpad Helix is syaing that the battery is charging even though the charger is not connected and the dock is not connected. This is causing increased battery drain through the use of my plugged in settings vs. the battery only settings. Also, computer is running at a higher fan speed. I tried updating the drivers and bios, but it did not help.

Hi, I upgraded my Sony Vaio to Windows 10. Since the upgrade, battery icon showing "Plugged in, Charging" but not actually charging. Always it is in 3% and when unplug the power, system shutdowns.

Answer:Sony Vaio - shows charging, but not charging the battery?

From: Recovery and Troubleshooting Guide
Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
When you intend to run your VAIO computer on battery power, the battery pack may have run out of power. Connect the computer to a power outlet. For details, refer to Connect to a Power Outlet in the Startup Guide.
If you did not previously follow the standard procedure to turn off your VAIO computer, the power controller may be suspended due to a program error.
Do as follow:
- On the models with a built-in battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, push and hold the battery off button for at least three seconds with a thin, straight object (such as a paper clip), and leave the computer for at least
five minutes. Then, plug the AC adapter and turn on the computer once again. For the location of the battery off button, refer to Locating Parts and Controls in the Startup Guide.
- On the models with a removable battery pack, unplug all cables and peripheral devices, including the AC adapter and USB devices, from the computer, remove the battery pack, and leave the computer for at least five minutes. Then, reinstall the battery pack and turn on the computer once again.

hi from senior Joan. My led battery lamp keeps flashing. Is there reason for concern?  I am not charging to 100%. Would this be an adapter issue or does battery need replacing? computer is 4 years old and works fine otherwise. thanks much for any help..

Answer:HP Pavilion dm3t battery icon shows 99% available (plugged in not charging)

If the power adapter is producing the proper voltage and the battery is not charging, at four years old I would suggest that it's time to replace the battery.

If you know someone who can test the output of the power adapter this would let you know if the problem is with the adapter or the battery.

I recently had my Qosmio F55-Q502 repaired by Toshiba.
Two issues were addressed and one is fixed.

However, the second was attempted to be resolved unsuccessfully.

When I attempt to play multi-media games such as Call of Duty IV, even if the system is fully charged, within minutes the system will start to blink the "backlights" and then when I see the charging icon, it says "Plugged in, Not Charging."

This really concerns me as I have read online many similar issues, but none of the solutions seems to work.
To have to restart the machine everytime this happens and your in the middle of a game, really stinks!
I even had it happening with SimCity4 which is an ancient game.

Any good suggestions on this?
They did replace the battery when it was sent in which seems to be what most people say needs to be done.

Answer:Qosmio F55-Q502 - charging icon says: Plugged in, Not Charging

Hello

If your Qosmio notebook was in repair I think you should not discuss about any issue on forums but make a pressure on service and clarify every single problem with your notebook.
Please do this because the warranty is still valid and now is the time to clarify everything.

I am not hardware specialist but it sound to me as some power supply electronic issue but I cannot say for sure. Talk with service. Try to clarify this with them. Be nice, be cool and everything will be ok.

I have a g560 laptop and have the following issue:-It starts up fine with a charged battery-The power adapter works fine (it works on my other laptop)--The computer does not take power from the AC adapter, nor does it charge the battery.  Therefore the computer is pretty much useless once the battery is dead, which doesn't take long. When battery is charged, the power light will momentarily flash when I plug in the AC adapter, but does not remain on.  I assume this is a hardware issue somewhere where the power adapter connects into the laptop.  Is there a part available that I can replace to fix this issue?  Any help is greatly appreciated,  Thanks!

Answer:g560 no AC power or charging

hi verlyn13,

It looks like the power socket is not getting a solid connection from the AC adapter or the power socket connection from the motherboard is defective. To fix this, you have two options:

1. Contact lenovo support or bring the unit to a local repair shop for service
2. You can DIY and replace the defective DC-IN cable. You can get spare parts here or here, watch this video as a disassembly guide and check the hardware maintenance manual as a reference.

Hope this heps

Hi, I have a LEnovo G560 notebook for some years now and I'm having a problem. The notebook is not starting up on AC power or on battery. Actually, I've been having issues to charge the battery for some time, but it did work sometimes, so I could manage to continue using the notebook. Now it seems something broke completely, so no power is being sent to the notebook. What I have already done:- I've tested the AC adapter and it is giving the correct voltage.- I've tired powering the notebook without having tha battery attached to it.- I've removed the HD and the RAM modules. None of these made the notebook start up again. Sometimes when I plug the AC adapter to it, the battery led in the front panel blinks 3 times and then it stops. Does this mean something? Is that an error code? I found a post that describes a similar situation and it was solved by replacing the power jack. Do you think that can be my problem? If it's the jack, why do I get the 3 led blinks? Thanks in advance! Regards, Ramiro

Answer:G560 not starting up nor charging

Hi Rams,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Please try the following; remove the battery and power cable, press the start button 10 times keeping it depressed each time for 5 seconds, the last time keep it depressed for 10 seconds. After doing this please attach the power cable, not the battery, and start the system.

If everything works OK shut down again and insert the battery and then start it again.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Shashi Kumar

Hello!A few years ago I bought a HP ProBook 450G1 and I've been using it for a while. Last month I had to get it fixed because it wouldn't turn on, somethings were damaged by a faulty charger. Since then, I bought a new charger (Hama, universal charger) and the voltage matches the original one.Since I got my laptop back from the service, I have this problem: when it's plugged in, it charges for a few seconds and then it says "Plugged in, not charging" and after a bit more time it starts charging again. The battery level stays the same. I've never changed my battery.I have also tried reinstalling the ACPI-Compliant Contro Method Battery from Device Manager. I have also tried unplugging the charger, removing the battery and all the peripherals and afterwards holding the power button for 20-40seconds. I updated the BIOS aswell, I got the update from HP website. The problem was there before the update, and it still appears. Please note that if I remove my battery, but the laptop is still plugged in, it will shut down after some seconds.

I have a Y510, and opted for the ultrabay capablity so I could utilize SLI when playing games. Recently I ran into an issue where as soon as I fired up a game with SLI enabled, after 1-2 minutes of play, the laptop stops charging and my game starts running poorly (ostensibly I assume because I am at that point running on battery power, even though the AC adapter is still plugged in). I searched the forum and found people that had similar problems, such as the battery only charging up to 60%, but this is not the case for me. Regardless, I have tried some of those remedies (reseating the battery, eliminating Lenovo's proprietary power management suite, etc.) I finally sent the unit in to be repaired. When they returned it to me, they stated they had "replicated and fixed the problem," but still same issue. In order to send it back, I'll have to get back on the phone (for whatever reason their support doesn't offer the option of emailing them or chatting with them online if you live in the US). The first time was already a nightmare. There was an extreme language barrier, and the agent didn't seem to understand about the ultrabay and SLI, so it was hard for me to explain to them what the problem was. Everything works find as long as I don't try to play a game using SLI. For the price I paid for this capability, I don't like the "well if it hurts, don't do that" solution to the problem.  Since some users here have had similar problems, any other ideas on how I coul... Ok, so I finally found this: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-y510p-SLI-Problem/m-p/1512396 Evidently I should have gotten a 170W power supply when I ordered the ultrabay, and despite them replacing my AC adapter when I sent the computer in for service, they still didn't send me the proper AC adapter. I feel like Lenovo should pick up the bill for the adapter, since they sent me the wrong one. Any ideas how to streamline this process?

Hi,

I hope somebody can help me. I have just purchased a new battery for my Fujitsu Amilo pi 3660 notebook.

I have tried so many times to charge it. I have fuilly discharged it and recharged it. I have installed and reinstalled drivers. No matter what I do, it stops charging at exactly 45%.

I know the battery is sound and the problem is a software issue. Does anyone know how to change this cap on the battery.

BTW The new battery has slightly, (very) more capacity. This has not been a problem in other laptops, but this Fujitsu certainly caps the charge at 45%

Please can anybody help. You have no idea the hours I have wasted trying to resolve it.

Many thanks Ceira.

Answer:New Battery stops charging at 45%

How much more capacity does it have? if it is around double the original capacity, then it's the BIOS that still thinks the battery is the old one. Try to go in BIOS options and see if you can change something, and try "resetting to factory defaults" (the bios, not windows 7).

Remove all system utilities that came preinstalled on that machine (those that could interfere with charging, like power utilities and assistants and whatnot, not programs like photoshop or whatever)

Answer:not charging, starts then stops

Here is a solution that has worked in the past, so it's worth trying.

1. Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, and remove the battery.

2. Hold the power button for thirty seconds.

3. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.

4. Boot the notebook up and see if the battery will charge now.

Let me know if that solution works for you or not. Best of luck!

For a while my nokia started to show that it is under charging while not connected to any charger. The problem is, that i.e. it is 63% charged when this happens the phone thinks about itself it forever. If I plug onto the charger it does not react, because "it is already under charging". The only option for me to switch off the phone and restart, but after a while this happens again and again.
I already replaced the battery once (of course I did a hard reset before, because I had suspected a system failure, but it did not help), and for 3 weeks it worked normally. Now it started again with the new battery.

Answer:Why does it shows it is charging while not connected to a charger?

Honestly, it doesn't sound like a battery issue. It sounds like a hardware problem with the charging circuitry in the phone. Could also be a problem with the USB connector on the phone, but it's hard to tell without a thorough physical inspection.
If it is still under warranty, I'd recommend taking it in for service. If not, and you want to continue using the phone, you may need to pay for service repair on the phone. The other option is to pick up a new phone, as this one may be on the way out if it isn't fixed.
Like I said, it's hard to tell without a thorough physical inspection, so take what I say here with a grain of salt, and best of luck.

The battery in my new G505s stops charging at 60%. Clean windows 8 then windows 8.1 install. The lenovo site has no power managament drivers for windows 8.1. Is this because windows 8.1 installed the lenovo app on its own? Because it is on the computer and i certainly didnt put it there. This happened after i upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1. It was 100% before the upgrade and 70% after. The lenovo energy management program has two settings. Maximum battery life and optimized battery health. No matter which is selected, charging stops at 60% and says plugged in not charging. I tried doing the battery gauge rested and it doesn't work. I press start and it does nothing. I drained the battery to 0 then charged it up but that didn't do anything. The dust removal button also doesn't work. On  side note, what graphics drivers is everyone using? i have the ones from lenovo installed. It looks like they were updated a few months ago. Would the generic AMD ones work better?

Hi, I'm having trouble with my laptop charging. It charges fine when it's turned off or in hibernation mode, but as soon as it's turned back on the indicator light goes off and it stops getting ac power. Once it's turned off again it starts to use ac power.

At first I thought the plug was loose in the back as it has had to fixed before but it seems to be perfectly fine when it's off. Could there be any software issues causing this? I checked the power settings and everything and didn't see anything that might be causing it.

It's running on windows xp home, that I reinstalled a few months ago. It was running fine until a couple weeks ago. Help?

I have had problems once or twice with my battery, but not for a long time. I installed Windows 7 a couple of days ago and twice today my battery stopped charging even though it was plugged in. The first time it said it was plugged in but not charging. The second time it said nothing. Both times, I rebooted and it resumed charging. So, I am suspicious that this is a software problem and not a hardware problem.

Answer:Battery Stops Charging in Windows 7

Is the battery fully charged? On my laptop, if my battery needs to be charged and I connect to A/C, it will charge and when it's full, the battery icon has an X over it. If my battery is good, and I'm connected to A/C (for instance, resuming from sleep), it shows fully charged with no X.

This is another one that I'm not sure where to put, but here goes. This is on the same HP ENVY dv6, It does have a replacement power adapter, but it's the same specs as the original and my battery holds a GREAT charge. However, when I plug it in while I'm still using it, it will charge for a few minutes, then stop charging, and then start charging again. Is this normal?? Like I said, everything is working fine and My battery is working GREAT and I've had this laptop for about 9 months now. Could this be a safety feature in Win 8.1 or someting? I am just curious about this as I have never seen this before. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Adam

I recently bought the Lenovo G450. The first time, it charged fully to 100%. Now, however, it won't charge passed 37% (it claims that it's "fully charged"... which is obviously  the case, since it's only at 37%). This happens in both Kubuntu Linux and Windows 7.

Whenever my T430u is under load (when playing games) the battery stops charging (the power Icon no longer shows a little plug next to the battery) I assume this has something to do with the power delivery to the GPU, does anyone have any ideas on fixes, causes or further troubleshooting? My specs:

Answer:T430u stops charging when under load

Usually a 90 watts power adapter helps. Or play the game when the battery is fully charged.

Problem with my charging/power on my notebook.

Intermittantly, when using the AC power adapter to charge the battery, the battery will charge for a time (with LED glowing amber) then (after no specific time) the amber light will go out, and stop charging. Looking at the battery icon in the desktop tray when this happens shows the notebook to be running on the battery, even though the AC power supply is still attached.

Moving the AC power supply jack in the socket of the back of the notebook makes no difference. It's almost as if the notebook is not recognising that AC adapter is there.

To add confusion, if I use the notebook on AC power alone (i.e remove the battery totally), the power will randomly cut out. This is also intermitant, and happens even if the notebook is not in use.

I have checked the power meter settings, and i have the most up-to-date drivers for the toshiba power saving utilities. i have also replaced the AC power supply and the battery.

Any Ideas?

Answer:Satellite P30-130: Battery stops charging

Hello Chris

Everything you done is right but next step is to check power supply electronic on the mainboard. Problem is that you can not do it alone and it must be done by technicians.

Please contact service partner in your country and explain them the situation. They have equipment to check power supply electronic placed on mainboard.

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it?s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

Hi, So out of the blue my Yoga 13 seized up while sitting at the start menu in Windows 8.1. I had to kill the local svc host which had accumulated over 2GB of ram... just so I could shutdown the machine,  but when I shutdown some craziness started. The power wouldn't turn off even after 20 minutes. I held it down forever and finally it did turn off (maybe the shutdown was incredibly prolonged). I did also flash the bios after this craziness, to the one on the suggested download site (version 55).  At any rate, that's when the problems really started: I got the plugged in not charging issue in windowsThe battery charging light no longer turns on when plugged in (though the battery is charging). The novo button doesn't work.Unauthorized battery messagePower button wasn't responsive when off. So lately I've been having an issue with my laptop.  The charger is plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it unless I shift the laptop to a certain position.  This seems to have little to do with the position of the AC plug in the DC port at all as it's not the same positions that will actually get the computer to recognize the charger is plugged in. I don't think this has anything to do with the battery itself as removing the battery does not make the connection more consistent.  The computer will still not recognize the AC adapter is plugged in.  I had the same problem with my old laptop, a V570. It will also briefly lose connection and restore it before my display can process it.  I know this by the CPU throttle in the BIOS (which I can't access to turn off because of the version of BIOS used) will randomly slow my computer down and won't restore to full speed when the charger is making connection again. What just happened lately which is making me wonder about this more is that my laptop stopped recognizing the charger as being plugged in in the tray icon but the charger light on my laptop started flashing orange.  The blue power light was also flashing. Sometimes when I restart my computer to reset the CPU throttle, I will get a pop-up message from the Battery Management Software stating, "Adapter has limited support: performance will be affected ..." Full specs available on the purchase page here. &n... My laptop shows Plugged in, Charging(50% available). But it doesn't really charge. If I remove the power cord connection, the laptop turns off. Hello Vamsi_Ramineedi,  Welcome to FORUM !! It could be either the battery itself or the battery connecting port on the laptop. Try to update the BIOS to the latest available on the HP driver page for your model and see if that works.http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv6-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/508...   If your PC is still under warranty, I strongly recommend you to Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance without any delay to get your Notebook diagnosed and serviced by an authorized HP Certified Engineer as this could be a hardware issue. Verify the warranty status here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty     Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

Does the Toshiba Tecra S10 stops charging the battery when it is charged?

I mean, when the battery is charged, do I have to unplug the power cord?

Answer:Tecra S10 - Does battery stops charging if it's full?

Hi

The notebooks stops charging the battery after it has been full charged and you don?t need to disconnect the AC adaptor.
If a battery is fully charged the battery charging LED should turn blue and the battery would be disconnected from power.
Only when you don't use your battery for (many) weeks and the charge of the battery is dwindling by some percent by self-discharging it will be recharged to 100% again.

Check this forum thread:

It?s a nice and interesting discussion about this theme.

My S1 that has worked fine for the past 12 months. However it started turning itself off abruptly, even when plugged in. The next day it could not get past the boot page before it turned itself off. The laptop now only works with the battery removed and the power plugged in. Starting up, and reinserting the battery turns off the laptop I would put it down to a faulty battery, but two other colleagues have had the same thing happen to their S1s in the past two days.  We ordered a new battery, and the laptop will start on it, but the system does not charge the battery (even at 20%) so it looks as if the fault is with the charging I have updated the bios and battery firmware. Am running windows 10. Has anyone else seen this problem?

My Toshiba is rather annoying. I'm hoping there is a fix to this and that it isn't built into the computer by braindead hardware designers.

My battery is toast. Has been for a while. I find the computer works fine if the power cable stays in. If it comes out, the battery usually has about a minute and a half of life to it. However, what pisses me off is that the battery will not charge again. It will sit and drain its power to zero, even with the AC cable plugged in, if the jack is disconnected even for a millisecond. The only way to charge it again is to shut down the computer and start it back up.

What the hell is up?

Answer:Satellite P15 - If the jack comes out, the battery stops charging

Hi Floydian,

Wow, Satellite P15 is really an ?oldie?.

I?m not an expert but for me it sounds like a battery or mainboard problem. A battery can be recharged about 500 times and after this will loose a lot of power. That means you can?t work only some minutes on battery mode.

In your case I would try a new battery. If it doesn?t work I think you need a new mainboard.
Have also a look on eBay. There you can get cheap second hand spare parts sometimes.

Hi. To start things off. Randomly today my computer started doing something it hasnt for the past 20 months i had it. Whenever it is not running something performance heavy it stops charging, when i then load a game of have multiple browser tabs open i starts charging again. It's almost as if something is telling the computer that it doesnt need to charge because its not using that much battery. Example, im playing a game, it is charging - there is a short intermission in the game like a loading screen or such, and it stops charging, or i go to the desktop etc. I am runnign windows 10 (latest update) and have the latest BIOS uddate. It is incredibly frustrating, i hope someone has some experience in thsi regard as it seems to be the opposite problem of what most people find when it comes to charging issues. thank you in advance BestKris

My G710, which is a few years old, has started having problems charging. When you get it to sit exactly right, it charges, but then the slightest movement will make it lose connection and I have to move the cable back and forth until it's happy again. I was using a universal charger & there had never been problems before. I bought a new universal charger but it made no difference, so I think it's internal. Also, the battery drains pretty fast, I think faster than it used to. Is this something I can have fixed?   Thanks!!

Had this problem before about two years ago and I can't remember how I resolved it.

My Compaq IPAC 3765 stops charging in cradle after Microsoft ActiveSync is complete (charge light stops blinking, "battery power remaining" shows 100%). When I disconnect it from the cradle it indicates only an 80% charge. Hence, charge is never full and I go halfway through my day when I get the "low battery" message.

I've disconnected the USB, rebooted and performed a soft set...nothing works.

Can anyone help me, please? Thanks, it would make my day!

Answer:Handheld stops charging after Sync is complete

If you have everything backed up in Outlook you could try a hard reset, then let the battery drain completely - charge on the cable first then back on the cradle.

I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help

Answer:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi, My husband purchased an Ideapad Yoga 11S last year. Last month, the power cord stopped charging. I took the system into a repair shop, and they told me that the charger wasn't registering any power activity, and that I'd need to buy a new one. I ordered a new one... one month later, it too has stopped charging the computer! I have NO IDEA why? My son uses this for school, and he can't access any of his work, nor can he participate in classwork that requires the computer. I researched solutions, and found that I should unplug the unit and take out the battery --- YEAH RIGHT... a special screw driver is needed to do that, so we can't get the screws out without stripping them. I am VERY frustrated because the computer is no longer covered under warranty... is the new charger that I purchased covered? Is there something else that I can do? Any help in this matter is extremely appreciated. S_Reynolds

Hi Guys, I have had to change my battery, got a brand new DELL battery but I can't get it to charge...I'm running Windows 10 PRO. I have tried the fixes listed above but unfortunately NONE has solved my problem. Any suggestions?

Answer:XPS 12 9Q23 Power Charging Disabled / Plugged in, NOT CHARGING

Hi DAEMONROD.
Where have you purchased the battery from? Does the old battery charge fine when plugged in?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test another power adapter and check. If the adapter fits in loose, then the dc port needs to be replaced. You would need this part.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Pent 4..

HELP!!!

Answer:CPU runs at 100% when charging laptop battery, when not charging its fine. HELP!!!

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Thank you
(I'm running windows 10 X64)

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until few half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging.  When plugging in the power cord the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times.   This is the exact same problem as posted here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/ProBook-4540s-not-charging/m-p/4...but there is no solution. Please help

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

Hi there, new on the forums. I've just bought my first ThinkPad and can't tell if the charging is complete while the laptop is off. I charge the laptop mostly when it's off but the only chargin indication I can see is a constant green LED near the charging port. I would have expected it to be red during charge and turn green when charging reaches 100%. Are all E320s like this? A very annoying problem

Answer:Thinkpad Edge E320 Charging LED; how can you tell if its charging complete?

It seems that Lenovo engineers decided that Edge users don't need as many indicator lights as other models have.  In my E420 there are only 2: AC power adapter connected (green light next to power connector) and On/Off/Sleep status (red light dot in ThinkPad logo). That's it!  If you want to know the battery status you have to open Windows.

Non-removable battery laptop shows plugged in not charging when in use, and charges only when its switched off or hibernating. All solutions ask me to take battery out, but I cannot. System test gave this error code- 9GAL40-81M8JM-GXGK6J-C0BF03. Please reply ASAP.

Answer:Non-removable battery, shows plugged in, not charging. Error...

The battery must be replaced. Please provide the Product or Model number of the laptop. There is no x300 I assume you mean x360 but there are many models called x360 and the batteries are different. On most replacement of the battery is possible by an end user.

I did a search, but I could not find a- someone with the same issue and b- i tried some of the suggestions (toggling diffrent option in battery management program) and that didn't seem to work, but it did for a few others. My p500 shows that it is at 40% and that it IS charging (most of the other stops states that it isn't charging).  It could be that windows thinks the battery is charging, but it obviously isnt because when I pull the power plug, the laptop immediatley shuts off.  Obviously the battery doesn't have a charge. I got the latest version of the lenovo energy manager, but that didn't do anything.  Also, I don't recall the enery manager being there.  I am almost certain that it was not there prior to windows 8.1 upgrade. Device Manager shows all of the hardware with no missing drivers/unknown hardware. I have been running the battery conditioner which is suppose to run the battery down and then charge it back up.  That has been going on for a few hours and it is still at 40%, where it has been stuck from the start. Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer:p500 battery issue, shows charging, but stuck at 40%

If the power adapter is powering the laptop, can I assume that the power adapter is not the issue? I noticed that it just started to show "40% not charging" which just switched from charging, within the last 24 hours. thanks.

Hi, I have been facing an issue with my laptop's battery. I have a Lenovo G580 model, the battery shows "Plugged in not charging" and 80% battery charged when power chord is plugged in but as soon as the power supply is removed the machine shuts off as the battery is not giving any support. Please suggest what should be done to solve the issue. Thanks in advance

Answer:Lenovo G580 battery shows - plugged in not charging

Hi Mayank,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your G580 Laptop is displaying message ?plugged in, not charging? while trying to charge. Hence I suggest you to perform Flee-Power and check if the issue persists.

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
Then insert the battery when the computer is turned ON.
If the issue persists, please perform ?Battery Gauge Reset? after installing LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) in the computer.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

When unplugged from mains power battery meter shows 70% whether battery if fully charged or discharges.

Used to work good but just stopped.

Had look for drivers but couldn't find any

Answer:Tecra A series - Battery charging status shows always 70%

Hi

How old is your battery?
Did you change this already in the past?

Try also to calibrate the battery; discharge the battery until it?s fully empty. Then connect the AC adaptor and wait until the battery would be fully charged.
Repeat this procedure several times and then check the charging status.

when issue started laptop Satellite P50t-A would go to sleep all the time
some times 10 min sometimes 1 min .
I reloaded a back up of good system. Still same issue.
Noticed battery 0% even when on power for days.

Does run on battery for 40min plus so battery is charging .
I've used power setting to temp fix set to never sleep on power or battery issue only happened while on ac on battery run till flat.
I ran battery flat and hit reset button on bottom started to charge and level showed up and increased 10 min later it was 0% again .
Battery has charge.

Is there a way to fix this battery level indicator?

Thanks

Answer:Satellite P50t-A - battery charging level shows 0%

Sounds a little bit like a battery problem… what do you think?
In such case you would need to replace the battery…

Question: is the BIOS up to date?
In my opinion this should be checked firstly following by new battery check.

Question: Charging Icon

Hi, I recently bought my first windows phone, the Lumia 630, and love the experience. I am slightly confused (sorry if its stupid), does the charging icon always alternate between the charging icon and the normal battery icon? It happens whenever I plug the phone and I don't want to damage the battery. Thanks for the help

Answer:Charging Icon

Yeah.. It is.. Don't worry about it!! ?

Answer:My battery or adapter has some glitches... It stops charging when it reaches 80% HELP!

Check the power management software settings. It is probably set that way to extend battery life.

So my laptop has two LED lights, one in the front and one near the plug-in for the charger. Before it would charge perfectly and both lights turned on, then my charger broke and my grandmother got me a charger. This charger worked perfectly but the near-plug-in-LED light stopped turning on. Only the front one was turning on, but aside from that everything seemed just fine. My laptop requires a 120w Charger and the charger she gave me was of 65w. I didn't know this until about a week ago since suddenly during gameplays it would just randomly stop charging after about 5 minutes into a video game or after maybe 2 hours of just browsing and stuff. I went to a place to get it checked  and they told me it was because of the charger, etc etc. Now I bought a new charger and it's still the same, it charges (even though the battery icon says it's on 84% and doesn't move from there) but it suddenly just stops charging after a while again. The problem with it not charging is that my laptop gets extremely laggy and only lasts about 1 minute before it shuts down.Is it the battery? Please tell me there's another solution... Batteries are expensive. The reason I added so much detail to this question is because I don't want to leave anything out. Thanks

My stock battery has worked great for me since I purchased the laptop in '12. One day the power light started blinking (the same timing that it blinks when you tap the power button to put it to sleep) and I realized my battery was low although the charger was plugged in.The problem has persisted where I am working and the light starts to blink/power supply halts. If I unplug the power supply and plug it back in, the problem is temporarily fixed and the computer will begin to charge, however after a random amount of time (could be 30 minutes, could be 30 seconds) the blinking will reappear and I have to unplug/replug again.I tried clearing the static with the "battery out/hold power button down for a minute" trick. It didnt seem to help.

Using a Satellite A30 about three years old. Recent problem is that while the power adapter is connected the battery stops charging, the orange battery indicator goes off.

If you look at the Power Management Utility the battery poweer meter reads On Line, Discharging %

To get it to charge I either have to turn the machine off (completely or to hibernate) then remove the power cable and reinsert, then the battery light comes back on. When restarting the battery will start to charge up for a while and then for no apparent reason start to discharge.

If left the battery reaches 0% - the machine continues to operate while the power cable is inserted so its getting power ok, but of course starts to bleep when it gets below 10%. To get it going again I have to shut down and restart etc.

I have checked the bios and have the latest version.

I have cleaned around the heat exchanger the power socket and removed all fluff.

I am using a generic adapter as the original failed, but as far as I can tell its working normally.

Any thoughts

Richard

Answer:Satellite A30: while AC adapter is connected the battery stops charging

Hello,

Ihave the same problem as you but it's alot worse. I am using the TOSHIBA Satellite M30X-129. For me I have to keep on plugging the wire in until I get the Red Light, sometimes in some cases the light turns off after like 20 seconds. My original power adapter broke as well so I bought one off eBay

Can someone please help us

My G710, which is a few years old, has started having problems charging. When you get it to sit exactly right, it charges, but then the slightest movement will make it lose connection and I have to move the cable back and forth until it's happy again. I was using a universal charger & there had never been problems before. I bought a new universal charger but it made no difference, so I think it's internal.
Also, the battery drains pretty fast, I think faster than it used to.

Is this something I can have fixed?

Thanks!!
