I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Jose_Galdos,

That's listed as the Conexant Pebble High Definition Smart Audio.
Seeing as how it's HD sound, I think you'll need to load the Microsoft UAA driver first to get it running under XP.

Is this the driver that you tried to install?

Conexant audio is a poor sound card with obviously poor support. They don't offer any driver download, demanding to OEM (lenovo in this case) publishing new driver. Our S205 have some issue in sound output as scrach and noisy sound when you connect your headphones, I think that the real problem is the plug for headphones near the hd, but new driver can do better soundI found in the toshiba site a new driver version 8.51.1 http://www.mytoshiba.co.nz/support/computers/satellite/l750/psk1wa-03c00r/download?os=25but is only for toshiba hardware.i'm not an "last update"addicted but sound on s205 is realy realy poor so please Lenovo make your sound driver updated with last possible driver, so we can have a decent sound output,Please please please ... talk with conexant and update the driverThanks

When are we to expect some updates in the drivers for G510, specifically for both graphics (Intel and AMD)Also I am using G510S's Lenovo Power Management for Windows 8.1(running with no issues) as Windows 8 version was not compatible and there is no Win8.1 version. And there is an update available for Conexant Audio in windows update and after the update when ever I play music, a few seconds in the Audio Device stops(a red cross on volume icon) and then troubleshooter automatically runs and fixes the audio device and audio comes back. Also I would like to request that you bring back Dobly Advanced Audio v2 that was available with WINDOWS 8 version of the driver. It was just much more convienient and I liked its graphics equilizer much better. K thnx G510 - Windows 8.1 Pro X64Core i5 4200MIntel HD4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M

Hello, various other people have posted this error (search function used), but noone has gotten an answer. Whenever i try to upgrade my sound driver to  4.76.0.0 / 3.54.0.51,be it manually or via system update the sound driver gets messed up. To sound icon in the taskbar gets a red X, the sound card in device manager gets a "!", and says "Windows could not load driver". In other threads people suggested the driver is not signed so Vista64 refuses to load it, however under Driver details it says its signed by Microsoft...  I would appreciate if someone could tell me how they got this driver to work on their 64bit machine, i'd like to enjoy the fixes and benefits of the new version. Thanks.

I bit the bullet and tried the Windows 10 upgrade (from Windows 7) on my older laptop.  Everything seems to work except the headphone jack.I've tried the latest version of the Conexant driver I could find (4.98.4.60 8/24/2009) and the Windows default HD audo driver (10.0.10586.0 10/29/15).  The Windows driver at least shows 'Headphones' in the playback list but with both drivers Windows fails to detect when the headphone plug is inserted into the jack - status is always 'Not plugged in'.Anyone have any luck finding a driver for the Conexant card that works with Windows 10?The Windows troubleshooting tool is useless for this - actually causes the sound to stop working altogether while proclaiming that it has fixed my problem.

I have the same laptop and problem.
Mine also has the same behavior as yours.

After trying Win 7 and 10 (Lenovo and default driver), I used Win 7 driver with following settings, level set to 70, +36 dB, and used built in microphone (you can set this in SmartAudio application).

The default Windows 10 driver (through Windows Update) works best, but it introduces hiss to the speaker and the headset even when no audio playing.

Hi, I installed the new Conexant drivers for my T400 (the driver is also for R400, R500, T400, T500, W500, W700, W700ds, X200, X200s, X200 Tablet, X301) yesterday.  This morning I needed to adjust the smart-audio functionality to work correctly with my docking station headset for VoIP calls. The SmartAudio control panel applet wouldn't work though. It crashes.  Now being a .Net developer and it being a .Net app I debugged this in VisualStudio. The problem it seems is that the "C:\Program Files\CONEXANT\SAII\en-GB" folder does not exist on my machine. Sure enough this is true. The solution is to go to "C:\Program Files\CONEXANT\SAII" and copy the contents of the "en-US" folder to a new "en-GB" folder.  Just thought I would share this incase anyone else has problems and so Lenovo can hopefully fix the install. I suspect that it will be wishful thinking for them to supply actual ENGLISH values for the resources in en-GB instead of the bastardised English that is likly in the US version of the resources  Andrew Moderator note: Type added to subject line for clarity. I'll post back if it works on not.  Otherwise if anyone has advice I'm all ears.

So uninstalling the Conexant driver apparently rolled it back to version 8.64.58.0 from 5/15/2013. Funny thing is the sound works though it's a bit crunchy sounding.  I tried the Update Driver button again and had the same problem with the registry being full. Good thing is I tired the Realtek Audio driver for Windows 10 and it does install the updated Conexant driver for windows 7, 8.1, and 10.  Afer restarting the audio works perfectly.

Hello, after upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1, I got the conexant audio driver installed by default. I have issues with it though, it ignores multiple audio inputs and outputs, can't distinguish between speakers and headphones etc.I, of course, thought of the simplest way to solve this, which was uninstalling the conexant drivers and using the basic realtek driver. Now here's my main problem, this only works until I restart the notebook, because then the conexant audio driver reinstalls automatically. Is there a way to prevent it form installing, or perhaps some way to make the driver work properly? Thanks

So i have unistalled the driver to default( High Definition Audio Device)  and the speakers work now, but anything  i connect through the jack, doesnt work(Sound is still playing through speakers). Also, in Playback Device HeadPhones appears too even if they are not connected. Here is how my 'Device Manager' looks like :http://postimg.org/image/jz3a0wpsj/

This laptop came with Windows 10 but I have installed Win 8.1 instead.  I have everything working except audio.  The HP site only offers drivers for Win 10 for this laptop.  I have tried Win 8 drivers for Conexant from other vendors but none of them seem to work with this laptop. Is there any way to get an audio driver that will work with Windows 8.1 on this model laptop?

Hello, the lenovo laptop that I'm using is  Lenovo G50-45, Model Name: 80E3, Model Number: 80E3016QUS.
While I was trying to update my Conexant audio driver, I noticed something that I found to be very peculiar. The Conexant audio driver exe that I was going to use to update my driver  is on this link http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-45-noteboo... What I noticed is that the driver version in this link is the same version that I have only that the driver date is 3/21/2014 instead of 3/19/2015. What I'm asking is,  does the date 3/19/2015 correlates to when lenovo released the driver and not when it was officially released by the manfacturer?

I have attempted to update the Conexant HD Audio Driver on my ProBook 450 G3 (Win7 Pro 64-bit) every time HP Support Assistant proposes the update. The latest update proposed was SP74946 (10.0.877.61 Q5). The update appears to be successful and I am prompted to reboot. After the restart the old version of the driver (8.65.133.0) is still installed and HP Support Assistant continues to propose the update. My system is current with all other HP and Windows Update installed.

Answer:Cannot Update Conexant HD Audio Driver

Hi, It may be worth trying to install this update directly, rather than through HPSA - download the installation package on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74946.exe When done, open your Downloads folder, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation - when this has completed, restart the notebook. Regards, DP-K

I updated the AMD graphics driver and it quietly update the HDMI audio driver. HDMI audio continues to work fine, but normal audio on the netbook has gone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the conexant audio driver, but on reinstalling it said "error no device found" and refused to install !!!   So now I can only hear anything if I connect the netbook to the TV. I've tried intalling IN2AUD32WW5.exe and IN2AUD44WW5.exe but they just refuse to install. I don't fancy backing up 500Gig of software and data and stating again. Hi all,

I'm experiencing some issues with my Conexant audio driver and I'm hoping someone could help me out. I have a Toshiba P100-437 laptop and for some reason my audio stops working after a couple of reboots. So here is the scenario:

I install a fresh copy of Win7. It installs a "High Definition Audio Device", provided by Microsoft, version 6.1.7600.16385, date 2009/07/13. When I do a windows update, it installs a driver by Conexant: "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio HD2". The sound works for a while, until after a couple of reboots when it just suddenly stops working: the equalizer in the volume control is still moving up and down but no sound is coming out of the speakers. So I force the driver back to the Microsoft's "High Definition Audio Device", after which it works for a while again until after a couple of reboots and then its dead. :/

Does anyone have any other drivers I may try or perhaps any other solutions? I appreciate it, thanks!

Answer:Issue with Conexant Audio driver

Okay, so I was slightly off on my initial symptoms...

It seems the sound drivers only stop working after my laptop as been in Sleep mode (i.e. when I resume). After a full reboot the sound drivers work normally again.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'd appreciate the input.

I've upgraded my Inspiron 620's OS to Win 10 a few months ago. There's no win 10 driver for its integrate audio (CX20641), so it keeps using the Win 7 driver from old OS.
It works fine until recent days, the audio has a low probability that suddenly become no sound, if I click the "test" button it will pop up an alert "The device is being used by another application".
A simple restart can fix this problem, and the frequency of this problem is low - once per 2~3 days.
I've googled it and found out people solve it by upgrading audio driver, however for the audio I'm using, I can't find a proper driver for Win 10 (CX20641).
Thanks for your help!

Hi, I want to reinstall my audio driver, but the link I got from Tempro a few months ago doesn't work any more and the driver database only seems to have Realtek and XP/Vista64 Conexant drivers. This is really annoying and I'm wondering if anyone has any idea on how I can get the driver installer back.

Answer:Satellite A300D Conexant Audio Driver

Look in C:\TOSAPINS, thats were the Toshiba drivers should be stored (unless you installed windows yourself using a generic Windows CD)

Otherwise you can simply rollback the sound driver in Device Manager, or even use System Restore to restore the system to a previous state.

I apparently share a problem with many owners of older laptops using Conexant audio drivers which are no longer updated. My four-year-old Toshiba L20's Conexant AC-Link Audio drivers worked fine under XP, but upgrading to Windows 7 meant I lost the ability to record in stereo. Mono only! The drivers are apparently no longer being updated, and the Toshiba site doesn't help either (though it's also a problem for many HP owners I gather). It is a fairly common issue, searching reveals, but no-one seems to have come up with a solution. Anyone got any ideas? I record a lot of streaming audio (usually with Audacity) and it's a nuisance to have everything in mono....

OK, so after all the fuss with my HP ze4325us Laptop, and being so excited to get the video finally working, I've now been stumped by the audio drivers. According to the driver title on the website, it's a Conexant AC-Link Audio setup. I've scoured these forums and downloaded a couple of drivers, to no avail. Any thoughts on this one?

It's not a dealbreaker if I can't get this working, but it would definitely be nice. 7 runs better then XP on this old machine. It's like bringing a dinosaur back to life!

I had sound problems after upgrading my 420s from Win 7 to 10.  No sound at all.  I got it to work with the Windows generic driver but the sound was very soft.  I downloaded the Conexant SmartAudio driver from the Lenovo site, rebooted, and then the headphones do not work.  The sound works better, but not as well as the old driver did prior to upgrading.  I am not done yet, but the MS folks have had Win 10 out for nearly a year and the list of problems and their lack of caring about customer problems with no support at all is not acceptable. I'll figure this out and will post the solution but I am going skiing in a few hours - so it will have to wait another day!!

Hi, I've got G560, win7 32-bit; Intel Onboard Graphics Driver is installed, which also includes the audio driver.I want to uninstall only the audio driver part (have tried via device manager, uninstalled High Definition Audio Device and Intel Display Audio, but after the reboot windows installs them again (seems like that), so they are active just after the reboot). Uninstalling the whole Intel Onboard Graphics Driver solved the problem, but in this case I have no video driver left, as NVIDIA Display Driver detects an error (something like "Nvidia didn't found the device" ) (have no idea why Nvidia should work with no nvidia graphic board) These two drivers are the only 2 that should suits my system (as lenovo support & download says). The question would be how to disable windows to automatically install the audio driver after the reboot after the driver has been uninstalled.I want to completely get rid of it, not only to disable the audio driver via the device manager. Thanks,Alex

Answer:audio driver uninstallation G560

while installation, system files has been copied to windows system32 folder, that's why even if you un-install the drivers, on next start-up, it starts to install drivers automatically.

you can try to un-install drivers on safe mode ( when you see lenovo start-up logo, press f8 )
also, your graphic card has also sound output for vga/hdmi ports, that's why nvidia is trying to install sound drivers or can't find it.

why do you need to un-install sound drivers anyway?

Answer:Lenovo G560 - WLAN Driver

hi Codexik.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Possible that the computer is not detecting the Hardware Itself that's why the driver will not install

Try Opening Device manager and check if the Device is there.

With Device Manager open..
Look under Network Adapters, See if you have either Intel, Broadcomm Qualcom or Atheros.
If you don't have any then try looking around device Manager if you have an unknown Device or Network controller with an Exclamation mark.
If yes Try getting the Hardware ID of that device.. here's how.

If still you can't find any of the things mentioned above.
    Go to your BIOS:
Turn off you Computer Turn it back on and start hitting F2.
Check under Configuration Tab if you have the Wireless settings Enabled.
Hit F10 to Save and Exit then Try installing this drive
 Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driver
or
 Wireless LAN Driver
Try Both and one should work.

Hello everyone. Since having installed windows 10 and updating to latest conexant audio driver (8.66.16.50) from windows update, I have once and a while an issue: After starting the computer, every app that uses audio forces closes, and is unable to playback any audio. Examples: video players (potplayer), audio player (foobar), internet players (shockwave in chrome). The only solution is to reboot the computer. More often, the computer starts without issue, and then the whole session goes normally with audio playback until shutting off. I found a windows error message, in the logs, telling that conexant smartaudio service has failed to launch. Indeed, at startup, a service call "conexant smartaudio service" tries to launch Sasrv.exe in system32 and fails, because that same file is located in sysWOW64, not in system32. An other error found in the logs is about a failing app "C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUDIODG.EXE" and a failing module "C:\WINDOWS\system32\CX64BP16.dll". Obviously, I already had the audio driver uninstalled, the computer rebooted, the driver reinstalled (same version from lenovo this time), and the computer rebooted. Issue still persists.

I recently updated the Conexant audio driver to the newest version released on about June 1 using System Update. After the update which all went fine I began noticing that if I left my machine for more than about 30 seconds without it making a sound, the next time a sound was to be played it would take about 5 to 10 seconds to come out of something that seemed like a sleep mode. In other words if I pressed play on a sound file or caused any system sound it would miss the first 10 or so seconds. This did not happen before the update. I used the device manager to roll back the driver and the old driver does not exhibit this problem. I would just leave it on that old driver but the sound is terrible since it seems that the Dolby software is not available for me to tweak the sounds after the rollback.I then reinstalled the new driver and the dolby panel is back but so is the delay after a period of inactivity. This would be nuisance enough but since I am blind, I rely on the sound card for my speech system. Any ideas are welcomed. I could not find any settings about power or sleep in the audio driver panels so I am at a loss. Is there a way to get the driver and Dolby software package that was on the machine before the latest update ran?

Answer:Unable to install Conexant CX20582 Audio Driver

Get drivers for your exact system from Dell Drivers and Downloads at Dell Support. Follow the installation instructions on the download page. You need to unzip the downloaded file before installing. Explain why you are installing the driver and how you are installing as well as your model computer--which should always be included in posts. See if these instructions apply--

I just bought lenovo n500, with conexant integrated soundcard. I first installed kb888111 on fresh winXP XP2. Then I installed sound driver form lenovo site, high definition audio.... from video HDMI folder. Everything works fine, no conflicts in device manager. But, from time to time, driver just stops working. There's no mixer in sys tray, no device in control panel/sound... nothing. After I restart laptop, everything works ok again.... (Most strange thing is, that when the sound device doesn't work, media player for example doesn't work, but windows click sounds works ok!!!???!!!???) Please help me!!! I'm out of ideas

I recently followed the Lenovo update procedure, and installed the latest Conexant driver (a recommended update according to Lenovo). Since then the audio device is no longer working. I feel sure that the original Conexant driver that came with the T500 worked, but when I roll back the driver it installs the Microsoft High definition driver, not the previous Conexant driver.Does anyone have this same problem, and is there a solution?

Answer:Conexant audio driver problem on T500 Vista 64

System:Lenovo ThinkPad T400Windows Vista Basic x32 2GB RAM I installed 10 updates using ThinkVantage System Update on January the 27th, one of which was the "Conextant Audio Features II" version 4.76.0.0 update. Another possibly related was the BIOS update version 1.20-1.01. The sound works in games, Windows Media Player and Quicktime, but it doesn't work in any of my web browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, IE). The browsers don't show up in the mixer window. The system sounds don't work and when I change the volume via the icon in the system tray it doesn't make the little "ting" sound. I opened the Programs and Features and attempted to remove the Conextant HD??? (don't remember the whole name) which showed an install date of the 27th. Vista said that it crashed while trying to remove it and it now doesn't show in the program list. I'm thinking about doing a system restore.

Answer:SL300 - XP64 - Audio Driver for Conexant HD SmartAudio 221

Hi, Aqua

I did some browsing around Lenovo Support and found this driver. I'm not sure if you've already tried to install this one, and I apologize if you have. The driver does not list if it is for x32 or x64, which leads me to believe that it should work on both systems.

Hope it helps,

Adam

Hello I have read on Ars Technica about a vulnerability on Conexant audio driver. While the page has more focus on HP devices, my Lenovo Ideapad 310 has a Conexant chip and, consequently, Conexant drivers. As stated on the news page, the bug would allow any software to keylog what is pressed on keyboard, including passwords. Are Lenovo computers with Conexant audio drivers vulnerable to this? Thank you.

Among the other issues that I have, I installed a few updates this week via the lenovo update and got a bad crash, BSOD, tried a couple of times and got the same.I tried one update after the other and found out it's the Conexant Audio Driver update, version 8.32.27.0. Tried manually from the link: http://support.lenovo.com/en_NL/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS018812 and it crashed again. Now, I have no sound, apparently during the update process before the crash it unistalled the old version. lenovo team, as you always claim it's my computer problem but don't replace it or contact me properly yet, can you at least tell me where do I find the previous Conexant Audio Driver version so I can have sound?

Hi everyone,

I bought this Toshiba Satellite L50-B-15U laptop, and lately I've been having this problem. Whenever I want to play a youtube video, or most of the flash videos on browsers, they will load and buffer, but wont play and are stuck at 0:00. After mashing the refresh button for multiple times, occasionally I can play a video like normal, but its like 1 in 20 times. I know this is because of the conexant audio driver because with the standard microsoft driver, this problem does not occur, but audio is ****ty.

The weird thing is, when I try to look up my laptop on the Toshiba site for driver download, I cannot find the Conexant audio driver for windows 8.1, only those for windows 7.

So far I have tried:
- Restarting the computer
- Completely removing the driver ( restarting afterwards)
- Reinstalling the driver from the toshiba website (windows 7 one)
- Trying other drivers of conexant that I found on the internet.

CHROME: Video loads and buffers completely, wont start
FIREFOX: Video plays, but no sound at all

Please help,
Geoff

Answer:Satellite L50-B-15U - Flash videos not playing because of Conexant Audio Driver

Hi

According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with Win8.1 64bit that includes all tested drivers.
Have you noticed this issue from the day one?
To be honest I cannot imagine this, especially if this happen “lately”.
Maybe you have installed something, some update that could be responsible for that.

Try to roll back OS few days back using system restore tool, just to check if the problem will be solved or not.

Hi,

I finally setup unofficial my Qosmio X500-140 under Windows XP with all needed driver for this chipset and others build in hardware's
and works all properly. But by the next restart, in the device manager, is the "Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD" not listed under audio device anymore. To get the sound work back again, have to disable in the device manager the "Microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition Audio" and enable it. Right after the "Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD" it appears in the audio device again and the sounds working again.

By the way I have two entry of the "Microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition Audio". The first one is responsible for the nVidia high definition audio, the second entry is for the "Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD".

This is the crazed way to get the sound chip to work under Windows XP. Any Ideas why the Windows XP system does not automatically initial the conexant audio drivers?

Regards to all...

Hi everyone ,

I've been on a hunt, ever since September of last year. Looking for a fully working Windows 7 driver for my audio of my laptop. There's audio popping and microphone recording issues (mono output recording). All my other devices work great with Windows 7. Even if I have to use a Vista driver for them, which I get from HP.com. If anyone is in my situation, or can help, please reply. I would love to enjoy using Windows 7 without this issue that bothers me.

Hi, i have the following audio driver for my G530, which I just purchased... * Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221* Hardware ID - FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_17AA3C2B&REV_1000* Driver Version - 3.49.4.50* Driver Date - 5-2-2008  The problem is that the Microsoft GM Synth's performance is abysmal. Granted, this is not something most persons would care about, however, I use a few music applications where it is put to good use. They are modplug, earmaster, and harmony navigator. The problem is the latency... On my desktop and my old T42, the latency for this device is around 100 milliseconds. This value never wavers. This is the usual value that I'm accustomed to. On the G530, however, the latency can be anywhere from about half a second to up to 2 seconds. It sometimes might even be longer. I have the laptops side by side (t42 & g530) and have testing them both and the latency is totally unusable on the G530. I'm really not sure what i can do. I can't seem to find any ulterior drivers that'll work with my audio chip, being as Conexants version and naming conventions overlap in a completely illogical way. I am hoping that there is something that can fix this.

Ok i hope someone out there can help becouse at thit poing.

I'm about to send back this laptop to Toshiba and go by an other manufacturer notebook that can be downgraded to WIN XP pro.

I have tried for about a week to find a driver to work on this laptop at no avail.
Toshiba of corse says that "THE COMPUTER WAS DESIGNED FOR WINDOWS VISTA" like that means anything and then they tell me to screw off.....

So what i have is a Satellite P305D-S8900 and I am in need of the audio driver for Win XP.

Now as far as i can tell it is a conecant audio driver but i can't find one that wil work.

Any help; is greatley apericeated.

Answer:Cannot find CONEXANT audio driver for Win XP for Satellite P305D-S8900

Hi buddy

First of all you can install all possible OS on your P305.
It?s true that the P305 has been preinstalled with Vista OS but of course you will be able to use other OS like Win XP?

Why you don?t check the Toshiba European driver page and choose the Satellite P300 series. It?s similar to the Satellite P305 (US series) and there you will find the Conexant sound driver!!!

As far as I know at this time the 3.47.1.50 versions seems to be a newest one?.

Cheers

I have a Satellite P100 PSPA3C MA202C.

I found on the Toshiba Support website a new Conexant HD Audio driver version 3.44.0.0 for my laptop (Windows XP, 3GB RAM)
and had the bad idea to install it. After the installation, the sound has awful crackling and interruptions,
including the Start Windows sound at startup, when first opening audio files and during play,
when a CPU-intensive program kicks-in.
This never happened before.

I acknowledge that during the installation I got a message from the system
warning that this driver is not signed as having passed the "Windows logo testing".

However, the same situation stands for previous versions also from Toshiba's website, like 3.21.0.52, which gave the same problems.
Then I wanted to let Windows choose the right driver, but it only found
"Microsoft UAA Function Driver for HD Audio Conexant Waikiki" which provides a clean sound, but has no audio input (microphone)!

So right now I am stuck either with Conexant's cracklings and interruptions, or with Waikiki's lack of microphone.

This is strange, because the initial configuration worked fine. Unfortunately I do not know how to restore the original configuration,
it is not written anywhere, the system cannot figure it out by itself and the restoration dvd's that came with the computer
allow only for a radical total restoration to the day-of-sale status, which is not acceptable.

What a disappointing experience!

Can anybody he... Read more

Answer:Conexant HD Audio driver issue - Satellite P100 PSPA3C Win XP

Hi!

The DVD?s that came with the computer are called recovery disks and this is the own way to get back to factory settings.
The disk contains the preinstalled Windows with all drivers and tools from Toshiba.

I know this is strange but in my opinion there is no other way to solve this problem. So backup your data first the HDD will completely formatted.

I have a Lenovo G510 running windows 8.1 64 bit, bought about 6 weeks ago. Installed windows updates on 18 August, including an optional driver update for the Conexant SmartAudio HD, and now there is no sound. There is an exclamation mark next to the device in device manager and an error code for the driver that (until today) states 'Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)'. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many many times, including downloading the driver from the Lenovo website and using the driver from the D drive, with the same error:Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.Conexant SmartAudio HDReinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18) I also tried doing a system restore to before the update but this failed with the message 'access denied'. After spending hours trying to find a fix I discovered that the driver update in question is still listed in windows update (now as 'important'). So I've downloaded and installed and restarted several times but still with the same error message, and the update is still listed in windows update. Update history states the audio device update was successful - every time I've downloaded and installed it - however it is not listed in 'installed updates'. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the other updates I originally installed on the 18 A... Read more

You have to reinstall your printer drivers or you're probably going to continue to get the error. If you are unsure how to go about updating your device drivers for the printer, I would suggest you start here:

Hi, I have a g500s laptop a few years now and I am using the official Conexant HD audio drivers. It has been a while now that my sound stop working after the log-in sound of Windows play. I tried re-installing the drivers but the same thing happens again. If i uninstall the Conexant HD drivers everything works fine but i don't like the quality of the sound (non HD). Recently I found out that when the sound stops, I just have to open the Speakers Properties window (from the tray icon or the Control Panel) and then the sound works again. Sometimes I have to do it again if the sound stops again. FYI the sound doesn't stop all of a sudden. For example if I am listening to some music the sound won't crush while playing. But if i don't use it constantly it might stop and I will have to re-open the Speakers Properties for it to work.Attached is a screenshot showing my sound drivers through the Device Manager.Thank you for your time.

Help, please.  On my brand new Thinkpad E560 running Windows 10 Pro, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver to version 8.66.36.53 on 9/12/16 on the recommendation in the update manager of Lenovo Companion. I was having absolutely no problems before with the original driver but now have a problem of delayed sound for a few seconds in playing any sound file or streaming audio or video after startup or coming out of sleep or just after idle.  The file plays or streams, but it takes a few seconds for the sound to kick in.  This is the exact same problem as reported here for the X1 Yoga: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Yoga-problem-after-Conexant-audio-driver-u... Since Device Manager does not give the option to roll back the driver (the option is grayed out) can you (Lenovo Techs) please make the earlier E560 driver available and/or post a permanent solution as you did above for the X1 Yoga?  Thanks so  much.

Hi guys, I have to cope with several audio problems. Before any changes I had a lot of audio glitches while playing MP3s, viewing videos etc. The sound playback hangs from time to time and gives me error sounds (glitches, where some samples are played repeatedly). Then I read that removing the conexant driver and using the windows 7 drivers works better. And they did. I deinstalled the conexant drivers and immedeately win7 installed some standard drivers. Then nearly all errors and glitches were gone. But I could not use my docking station anymore.  Ok, now I installed the latest conexant drivers for windows 7, the problem are less than with the old conexant drivers, but still way worse that the microsoft windows 7 drivers. These problems seem to be related to network usage. I think they appear much more often, if I am plugged into my LAN or surfing the internet. This happens when using LAN or WLAN. Further the signal to noise ratio is very poor. If I crank up my speakers there are several "sounds" when using the W520, internet access, hd access etc. can all be "heard"... Has anyone experienced the same? I spent a lot of time working on this problem. Why couldn't lenovo put a decent soundcard into the W520? This really gets on my nerves. Any help is highly appreciated. Cheers,Marcus
