Lenovo B560 Battery Indicator flashing and Battery not charging

Question: Lenovo B560 Battery Indicator flashing and Battery not charging

Hello All, I'll try to keep it brief. I recently purchased a B560 system and noticed the Battery Indicator (located on the left side palmrest) is flashing orange constantly. In addition to this, the Windows Battery Icon (on the system tray) is indicating that the battery is not charging at all. I've done some basic troubleshooting: Rebooting the system. Removed the battery, reseated it. Unplugged the system from the power connector etc. and the system still indicates the battery isn't charging. More details:The system was manufactured March 03, 2011 and purchased new from on Bestbuy May, 2011.Windows 7 64bit, recently upgraded to SP1, no other issues to report

Hello everyone, I hope everyone's doing fine.Anyways, I've been having battery troubles with my laptop which has the specs: Lenovo B560Core i3 370MBios - 39CN16WWRAM - 4GBWindows 7 - 32bit Now, the issue is that the original battery which came with the laptop is done with...I mean if I unplug the laptop, it takes just a couple of minutes and the battery drains out. I have been searching for the battery in the market and I did find some but now when I connect the "new" battery, I get "plugged in, not charging" when I hover over the "battery" icon in the tray.  I went through the details on the sticker of both the original battery as well as the new one and the only difference I found was that mine said "48000" where the other one says "44000"...Can that be the reason behind this problem? Also, I cannot find the battery with 48000 in the market or online. Can anybody please shed some light on this? I did try the method of turning off the laptop, removing the power cable and battery and pressing the power button for a couple of seconds. That didn't work either. Thanks,Abdullah

Answer:Lenovo B560 battery "plugged in, not charging"

Try to release charge, - turn off the computer, remove AC adaptor and battery. Press and hold power button for 15-30 seconds, and power on the machine again. Also you can try reinstal energy management driver.

I tried to update my battery firmware after getting a message from the thinkpad tools today. the firmware installed halfway then completed with an error, it then asked me to click "ok" to shut down the laptop. now my battery gauge is showing 0%, the battery charging logo in the task bar has an "x" on it. The battery is not charging as well. i have to plug in the AC adapter to use the laptop. I tried to reinstall the firmware, however it says there is no connected batteries that need upgrading. In the battery management tool, it also shows battery condition as "unknown"  help!!!

Answer:Lenovo E420s battery indicator at 0% and not charging after firmware upgrade

I think the firmware flash went bad. You'll probably have to use your warranty.

I am using a G500s laptop and  it was having the following issues *laptop was not charging * both battery and power indicator keeps on blinking when the laptop is connected to power. Even when the laptop is switched off and when it is connected to a charger the power and power indicators are blinking. I gave my laptop for repair and they informed that they had replaced the motherboard and the laptop was working fine for 2 months. Again the same issue is happening. Please advise me what can be the issue?

Hi everyone! Two days ago I've got a problem with my Lenovo S10-2 IdeaPad. The problem is that battery suddenly stopped working. When I'm trying to start my netbook just on battery nothing happens. No led lights, no fan sound, nothing. When I plug in AC adapter battery led light turns on for a moment on orange, then chanes to white and holds for 6 seconds, then blinks and holds white for other 6 seconds, then again for the third time and then turns off completely. When I press power on button with AC adapter pluged it and net book starts to boot, blinking with the same intervals for 3 times repeats.  My Windows XP shows seeing the battery, it shows 69% but I have suspicion that it isn't charging, cuz 2 days ago it was about 72%. I've googled for similar problems, tried to disable and uninstall Battery ACPI-compatible Microsoft manager. I tried to plug out AC adapter and battery and hold power button for 30 seconds, nothing helps. Any ideas that could help? They would be very much appreciated.

when i put my battery in, the indicator flashes blue; a few minutes later, it flashes red.what the heck does that mean? ps- i haev a lenovo s10 if that changes anythingMessage Edited by jehan60188 on 05-24-2009 05:59 AM

Answer:battery indicator, flashing red?

Hi, 3 LEDs..are on the front side ...form left to right.... Indicator LED Left: is Power Normal Blue LED Center is Battery status:Blue : The battery is charged to 95% or more of its capacity.Blinking blue : The battery is being trickle-chargedOrange : The battery is being normally charged.Blinking orange: The computer is operating on battery power, and the battery is charged to no more then 8% of capacity. RED is not documented... didnt hear that it could flashes in red... But could be a contact fault ... or have had problems at charging... sometimes i heard that it flashes orange between failure charging... and charges very slow...that could be raised the time of charging to 8-12h... and then it flashes blue and orange but never red.... Normal time for charginga 6 cell is fully charged in 2:40-2:50h ...and i dont have the 3 cell ...but must be quiet equal in 1:20h - 90 minutes for the 3 cell batt...  Right LED is wireless status... If that happens more than one time, contact you local lenovo service for exchange the battery.. sincerely KalvinKleinMessage Edited by KalvinKlein on 05-24-2009 03:35 PM

Dear All,I have Lenovo Thinkpad T460S purchased almost a year ago. Today I suddenly faced problem in charging battery. Charger is plugged in and battery icon is showing "plugged in, charging" but actually it is charging very slowly. Normally battery is charged in one hour or so but today it took more than one hours to reach only 24% or so. Furthermore, soon after plugging in, battery icon shows "filling in process" for few seconds then stopped i.e no filling in process. Furthermore, after whole night charging, battery is now 94% charged, battery 2: 100% charged, fully charged; battery 1: 0% charged, not charging (please attached images). Please guide how to get rid of this problem?Thanking in advance. Shahid

I have an IBM Thinkpad T41 which won't turn on. When the laptop is plugged into the charger, the battery indicator light flashes a few times, goes dark and repeats. I have tried pressing the on button with the power cord plugged in and the laptop will not turn on. I have also tried it plugged in and having the battery removed to no avail. Is this a battery issue or another problem with the laptop? I've always thought that you could use a laptop plugged in even if the battery is dead...Please advise. Thank you for your assistance.

Answer:Thinkpad Battery Indicator Flashing

Does the led keep on flashing or does it flash number of times. Please count number of times it flashes before it goes off. Led flashing is normally like an error code.

Hi, I've got a Dell XPS M1530 laptop, and I just noticed today that the battery indicator light on the front of my laptop is blue for a few seconds, then flashes red, then back to blue, etc. I checked my battery's health and it says that it's able to charge normally, but my long-term battery life is decreasing. Also, it does not shut off right away with I unplug it; I left it out for a few minutes and it was still at 100%.

Should I just take this as a general warning to maybe order a battery sometime in the near future? Or is it blinking red for some other reason?

Thanks.

Answer:Battery indicator light flashing red...

Yes red lights on the battery indicator is a bad thing. If the laptop is under 1 year old and you have the warranty on the machine you can get it replaced under warranty if not you have to buy a replacement.

I am assuming you have unseated and reseated the battery with it keeping the same error lights? You may want to try that first since I have had times in the past this would clear errors.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... Answer:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I am facing the below given 2 problems with the battery of a brand new lenovo U41-70 i5 Red model.

1. The plugged in but not charging error. Some suggestions in the web ask the user to remove the battery and change some stuff in the device drivers, but in my model the battery is not removable.

2. The battery dissipates a lot of charge while in complete switched off mode (not in sleep, nor hibernated). I have also disabled the windows fast boot mode from the power options, but doesn't work.
To give an estimate, in approximately 9 hours of shutdown (and the charging removed) the battery dissipates from a full 100 to 70%.

Note: I have updated the laptop which came with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Hence, the system is running on windows 10 now. The laptop is 10 days old.

Hello! I have a problem with my Lenovo's B560 battery. It doesn't charge more than a 10% from possible charge level. Somebody will think that the cells are weared out. But they aren'y. I dissasembled battery pack and checked voltage of every cell under load. Results were from 3.53- 3.68 volts. I have 6 cell battery 10.8v So, the cells are ok. So I think, there could be a problem with battery brains. Does anyone could have an idea, what could I do to solve this problem? Hi everyone, Just received my T450s. Installed the rear battery, then plugged in the power.  On my old T510 I have an indicator showing me when I have power hooked up, and indicates the charging status of my battery.  I don't see anywhere on the T450s chassis that indicates the status of the battery charge. The only thing I will see is the dot on the "i" on the top cover, flash when I connect power.  Surpised there isn't a status indicator. Peter

Hi,
I've had my new XPS13 for about six weeks. It has been working fine.
Last night as I was using it, the screen suddenly went blank and I can't find any way to get it working again.
There's one clue though. When I press the power button, the light under the trackpad (which is, I think, the battery indicator light) starts flashing. It flashes amber twice and then white once. It repeats this a few times before stopping.
I assume this flash pattern is trying to tell me something, but I can't find any documentation for this. So can someone please help me out with a couple of things.
1/ A pointer to the documentation for these flash patterns.
2/ A suggest for a solution for my current problem.
Thanks,
Dave...

Hi,
Based on the given information, kindly try these steps and advise the result.
*Have any recent changes(software/hardware) done to the system?
*Is the same issue seen with charger & battery ?or have you tried to power on the system with charger only?
*Have you tried to release static charge from the system by removing the charger & battery then just keep the power button pressed for about 15- 20 seconds. Then try to power on the system with charger or battery.
*When the charger is connected to the system does the light on the charger continue to stay on ?

I have a Porterge R500 with Windows Vista from my work.

I was going on a trip so I got myself an extra battery.
Before taking the airplane everything worked fine. Both batteries worked and they were fully charged.

After I entered the airplane, out of the blue, the laptop didn't not start with neither of the two batteries (original both of them).

When I landed I connected it to the ac plug in, and it started. It says the battery is charging (70% and 80% respectively) but none of them seem to work because if I remove the plug in, the laptop shuts down.

When it is connected, the battery light does a sort of blinking (every now and then) but I don't understand what is the problem at all because the computer is working, I have two batteries going sort of dead at the same moment and even when they are charged according to the computer, they don't deliver the power.

Any hints?

Very strange that both batteries don?t work after you entered the airplane.
To be honest I?m not the expert on this area but maybe the radiation while checking the bags and personal items could affect the batteries.

However, fact is that notebook does not work using the batteries. I would recommend you to purchase another battery.

Hi, I have a big problem with my Lenovo B560. Recently I started noticing the charging icon in the bottom right corner of the screen would go briefly from "charging" to the icon for "not plugged" (just the battery). If I moved the power cord a bit it would go back to normal. Days later it happened again but this time a little more persistent. I didn't give it much attention. And then suddenly, last weekend it stopped charging altogether, despite being plugged. I tried different power sources, I tried moving the cable around, nothing. With the little time I had left before it completely discharged, I googled the problem and saw somebody in a thread saying "it's likely tha battery, it needs replacement", which made sense to me, since my laptop is 3-years old.  I ordered a replacement battery and waited. Today it arrived and I put it in, eager to use my computer and have everything going back to normal. I turned on the computer, battery was at 50% but it still did not charge. It showed the battery icon like before, as if it weren't plugged in. I moved the cable around again and noticed it would briefly flash back to being plugged. And then it stabilized on "plugged in, not charging" but it was suddenly at 3%. However, at least it didn't go down this time.  I tried reinstalling the Power Management Driver, restarted, everything was the same. Then I went to Device Management, I disabled the Driver and the icon dissapeared. Restarted, reinstalled drive... Read more

When powered on charging light flashes yellow.
Battery does not charge and if battery removed the laptop shuts down.

At time this problem does not happen.

Moreover, when power cord is removed, battery charges for few moments and then yellow flashing light comes on and charging stops. When shutdown, the battery charges normal and 100% charged battery gives almost 4 hours time.

Can any one please guide about the problem. Is the problem in power adapter? or the battery? or the motherboard/hardware?

How to verify problem?

It seems that you already posted an thread about similar issue with your notebook some years ago.

In first case it seems that your battery was the troublemaker.

You are talking about charging indicator. I?m not quite sure what LED should it be.
There are 5 LEDs - from left: DC IN / Power / Battery / HDD, ODD / Bridge Media Slot

The first DC IN indicator glows green when power is being correctly supplied form the AC adaptor. However, if the output voltage from AC adaptor is abnormal or if the computers power supply malfunctions, this LED will go out.

The second from left Power indicator glows green when the notebook is turned on. If you turn the notebook into the sleep mode, this indicator flashes amber.

The third battery indicator show the conditions of the batter charge. Green indicates the battery is fully charged, amber indicates the battery is charging and flashing amber indicates a low battery condition.

Question:
Are you able to power up the unit without the battery but using just a connected AC adaptor?
Usually this should be possible even if the battery isn?t inserted.

I just received my replacment AC adaptor. I put my battery back in and plugged the laptop in, but when i push the power button the battery indicator light flashes red four times. There are no lights on. Does this mean my battery is fried. Originally i thought the jack needed replaced, but the guy told me it was just my cord which Best Buy confirmed. So after getting the new cord i have this new problem. Usally there is a battery indicator light on when the battery is in and it is plugged in. I tryed taking out the battery, unplugging it and holding the power button down, but that didnt work. I also tryed it without the battery in. Is my battery just bad? Thanks for any help.

Thank you,
Dan

Answer:Solved: battery indicator light flashing red when power button on my laptop is pushed

Try plugging the laptop in and then push the power button. I have had the same thing happen to me when the laptop would only work when I had it plugged in. I had to replace the battery.

Hello everyone, I've had myY510P SLI for about 6 months now and I mainly use it on a desk so I rarely use my battery in it unless I am traveling. I never had any issues with the battery until last night. I decided to put the battery in, but I noticed that Windows said "plugged in, not charging" and showed a blank battery. It didn't report battery statistics or anything. I tried messing around with Lenovo Energy Management but that didn't do anything. The battery status indicator LED has also been flashing red non-stop. This would be a huge dissapointment to me if I need to replace the battery that has less than 30 charge cycles on it. But I'd rather it be a battery issue than a problem with the motherboard. My Y510p has a i7 4700MQ, 750M SLI, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD  and is running Windows 8.1 with mostly all bloatware removed. I even tried the method where you start up with no battery and uninstall it from the Device Manager and resetting the BIOS. Both didn't do anything for me. All help is appreciated, thank you!

Just bought this model a month ago. At first, I thought there isn't any LED Indicator in this model for charging/ HDD activity modulation but later when I saw the guide, I noticed an indicator just below the touchpad. But, the catch is that it isn't glowing at all. Even while charging, I tried the hotkey combination (Fn + H) to toggle that light but to no avail. Any idea as to how to activate this light?

Hello,
I have Satellite S1800 series notebook and i've been using it for a long time. But yesterday, i'm very disappointed with a strange event. Now, i have no solution, please help...

Situation: While my notebook was working at battery mode (no AC plugged), i was copying some files inside my HDD, then suddenly notebook turned off, i thought it happened because the charge was over and i plugged AC adaptor to charge as normal but NO charge!

The battery LED is FLASHING with orange color and not charging, when the AC adaptor is plugged, the notebook runs normal with no error but if i unplug AC adaptor, the notebook turns off immediately. That shows there's no charge advance although it's plugged for 6 hours but no charge as i said.

I got that situation new and my local Toshiba service denied my request due to old fashion of my notebook.

My last chance is here

Please help.

Best regards...

Answer:Satellite 1800-100: Battery LED is always flashing orange, not charging

Please help, i couldn't make out, i've been using that notebook for 4 years and had no problem like that.

My local service refused me, they couldn't make out the situation.

Hello. A few months ago I purchased a refurb T61.  I don't know the screen size at the moment.  The battery just died without warning. I assume that I need to purchase a new one.  Is this a common issue with IBM batteries?  The customer service said that it is not subject to a recall.  I was considering buying a refurb battery 9 cell, due to the price.  Do you think it is likely that it will konk out in 6 months? Also, in reading old threads about similar issues, people are talking about battery abuse.  What exactly is that?  What is the best way to use a battery in a lap top?  Should one remove it when it is plugged in?  And is it okay to install the battery while the computer is on and running?  Is there ever and issue of unplugging a computer that is on and with a battery in it and replugging it in in another socket?  etc. Thanks!

Answer:T61 (6464) Battery Not Charging and Orange Light Flashing

Hello,

All rechargeable batteries eventually fail, it's just a matter of when.  I believe the T61 was introduced in 2007, which means its likely the refurbished unit you purchased had a battery around five to six years old.

You can try purchasing a replacement battery from a third party, but make sure they are reputable and you get some kind of warranty in case it dies all of a sudden.  Counterfeit batteries are quite common, and unless you purchase a genuine battery from Lenovo it's something of a gamble.

I have always left batterys plugged into the notebook and let Lenovo's power management software manage the battery for me.

Hello Lenovo Forums,      It's really frustrating for me to be here and posting a problem exactly a week after I bought my laptop. So I got this thing last week and about 3 days ago it started hesitating to charge. I'm sure it was not a hardware issue because at startup it charges but after a while it stops.      I got into a conclusion that it was probably some kind of service that stops it from charging. So I uninstalled the Energy Management App but it didn't work so I just reinstalled it back. I also tried to uninstall the "Microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery" like what most people recommend but it just reinstalls and doesn't work at all. I tried disabling it but it removes the battery icon from the taskbar. I also tried removing and reinstalling the battery a couple of times which resulted into nothing.      But just today when I booted up the laptop the Lenovo Management Software shown a message saying that my battery is not genuine and they will hesitate to charge it.      I was like "W**? I just got this thing last week and touched nothing and now you're telling me my battery is not genuine?" So looked at the battery and it was LEGIT with all the legit lenovo branding and everything.      Can anybody help me fix this? Thank you

Ive looked endlessly for a solution. Obviously many other people have this issue. What I have done so far is delete energy manager because its been defective for many people. After doing that, my battery indicator finally filled up to 100% in the animation. Prior, it had been stuck at 60% with charger plugged in and once taking the charger out, computer would shut off in 30 min. Past 6 months I have been using the compyter with the charger in because my warranty expired the day before problems rose.  Ive also tried uninstalling some ACPI thing under device manager > Battery because i read it somehwere.  I just want to know when my battery is gonna die. I can never work on important documents without a charger. So frustrating..

Hello all, this is my first post. I have a question on my currently faulty G550. When I plug in the AC adapter with battery, the battery LED indicator at the front shows white for about 5-6 seconds, then turns off for a second, then turns back to white for 5-6 seconds again. This process repeats a total 4 times (or 5, cant remember exactly), and then the LED stops altogether.  With or without the battery, laptop still works, but it requires AC power constantly. No matter what situation, as soon as I unplug the AC, laptops turns off.  Anybody has any idea what this blinking code might mean? Dead battery? Insufficient power from AC adapter? Much appreciated,

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

hello, all... it is in yet another time of need that i turn to you ...my notebook (dell inspiron 1525, about 1 year old) started showing signs that its battery might be warn out - when it was not plugged in with its adapter, within a few minutes it would without warning go into sleep mode and upon trying to turn on, warn me that the battery was at a critical low...

now, today it had been on for a while in a summer-hot room and it was only when i tried to put it to sleep to ~reduce~ the burden on it, the battery light started flashing orange (the warning that your battery is in trouble, 4 times quick, 1 blue flash) and nothing - not turning it off, letting it cool, would make it stop
...it does come back on but i don't foolishly think it's going to last! the battery meter also says, instead of 100%, now 99% and will not go up... (my father's notebook battery meter is always stuck on ***74%*** even if allowed to charge, and it's been this way since turning it on for the first time... so i'm not sure what is causing that...)
the only time the orange light did go out was when i UNplugged the adapter but as soon as i plug it back in, that happens again ...and if i leave it unplugged for too long, the system will go to that critical low situation again and this time it won't be able to re-charge either. based on your experience and expertise, do you think the problem is most likely the battery (and/or the adapter cable? or the a/c connector port?) ne... I have a satellite A105-4054, which has given excellent service. Yesterday, the power light started flashing amber and stopped charging the battery. I had a second freshly charged battery, which I used instead and the power light still flashes amber.

I checked the Original Toshiba battery charger, which came with the unit, with a voltmeter and it shows 15 volts, which is correct. The laptop will boot normally with a freshly charged battery, but it will not charge when plugged in, and the power light flashes amber continually. If I remove the battery and leave the laptop plugged in, the power light flashes amber continually, and nothing happens (no power up). I would be happy to just run the laptop on AC, but that is not possible, right now

The toshiba power utility system tray icon, when the laptop is booted up on the fresh battery, flashes back and forth between charging and battery, and the battery does not seem to charge. Previously, the power utility would show AC power continuously when the unit was plugged in and the power light would stay blue.

I really like the laptop, since it has given superb service, and would like to keep it. Any reasonable solutions, please?

Thanks guys (and gals)!

Answer:Re: Satellite A105 - power light started flashing amber/battery not charging

On this virtual way nobody can say for sure what the problem is but after reading your detailed posting I think there is problem with power supply electronic placed on the mainboard. Only technicians with special diagnostic tools can say for sure what is wrong there.

In my opinion there is no much you can do about it and in such case whole mainboard must be exchanged. If you want contact nearest authorized service provider, explain the situation and I hope they can tell you more about that.

When Battery Status Indicator turns orange (20% battery) the Yoga 13 becomes very slow The trackpad stops working, and the laptop in desktop mode becomes unusable. The volume also is turned down to 0, the volume status window is always present in the top left of the screen and even if I use the keyboard buttons to increase the volume, the laptop immediately reduces the volume again to 0 within about a second. Interestingly using the Windows Metro screen and the touch screen, most of the Windows Apps are okay, but not all touchscreen functions work, for example swiping the screen to get the charms menu does not work. I have tried disabling the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework in the BIOS and uninstalling the Intel Dynamic framework drivers but it has made no difference. Any ideas ?In its current state the laptop may as well turn itself off at 20% battery  ThanksKevin

On a new laptop lenovo L520 (W7P-64b) the orange battery indicator is blinking while the battary is actually full.Power management says the battery is full showing 96 % in the large green battery icon on the task bar next to the power plug icon..The laptop is connected to AC power. The Windows icon on the taskbar shows a full battery and the power plug.Power management says the battery is charged and in a good condition and only 7 load cycles are counted. (but orange light is blinking) When disconnecting from power, the orange light still blinks, power management still shows a full battery (just removing the power plug icon)The windows icon switches to an empty battery icon. The laptop still works but after a few minutes it shuts down due to lack of power. (Note, not immediately) For other lenovo models I've seen similar issues suggesting old batteries or broken fuses. But when I shut down the computer, unplug power the light keeps blinking for a few seconds and that switches off.  When a restart a l few seconds later every thing is oke: battery full, green steady light etc.So, because a restart does not fix fuses or revives batteries I think it is a new issue. Please suggest what to do other than reboot. tia,Bert

Anyone had this issue?

My battery indicator (Windows and also the Toshiba PM) don't show the remaining battey life in minute but only in percentage.
is it correct or there are some strage settings in power setting menu?

Thanks

Answer:NB200 - Battery indicator shows only battery life in percentage

Mine does the same, thats just how it is in XP. But I believe the Vista power saver shows the remaining time.

I think you will need to download a battery utility from the Internet to display the remaining time.

Hi guys, I have had my x230 thinkpad laptops for two months now. The laptop suddenly just switches itself off without any indication of needing charging, there was no beebs sounded nor a flash or  blink indicating battery low, it just suddenly dies. i.e switched off. The only way of bringing it back up of course is plugging the power lead back in until it's fully charged. I'm currently running Vmware vsphere ESXi and  Citrix Xenserver, the question here is: - Is there a way of setting the battery indicator / button to beep perhaps via BIOS when battery is low ? - shouldn't the battery indicator button i.e. the one by the left show orange or blink orange before die-ing out ? - I understant I'm running some kind of Linux / Cent OS i.e. being vsphere or Citrix Xen would this affect the battery indicator not to show before dieing ? I also have windows 7 professional currently running on another x230 laptop, I will test to see whether the battery indicator button on that one indicate anything before dieing. Any ideas renderd is appreciated.

Answer:x230 Battery indicator button does not work nor indicate battery low before dieing

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad X230 suddenly turns off without any low battery indication.

Update Power manager and Power management driver to the latest version and check the status of the battery in Power manager.

Try doing a battery reset. It involves charging your battery to 100%, and then discharging it completely to 0%. Once that?s done you charge it back to 100% to complete the calibration.
Please note that battery reset is a time consuming process. So I would suggest you to do it overnight. Change the power plan settings to ensure that system doesn?t enter sleep or hibernate during the reset.
Refer this document to understand how to perform a battery gauge reset.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Was wondering if there is a way to remove them from the taskbar. Initially I had just the battery indicator and then I downloaded all the lenovo updates (for bios, etc.) and got the wireless service indicator too. They seem kind of redundant to me, as windows 7 already has their own on the task bar and they're just taking up additional space. I'd atleast like to get rid of the wireless service. Will this effect anything? Are they that important?

We have several Lenovo B50's which we are noticing are powering themsleves off  randomly, the laptop then refuses to turn on dispite the power cable being plugged in and gives a red/orange flashing light. We know that this is due to the power supply not being connected in time and the battery running down too low for the laptop to function . The light continues to flas even if the power supply is plugged back in after shutdown. and the laptop will not restart until the light turns to a solid state. However we are noticing that the laptop only seams to be lasting about 2 hours in total with normal used (tested with a youtube video being played). I have also read articules that say that the battery normal starts to go into sleep mode at around 14% which we think maybe desciving staff. Has anyone had the same exsperiances with this? we are running Windows 10 and have already changed all the power settings to never sleep etc.

My battery indicator always shows laptop is on battery. AC power is present and charges battery normally but laptop never recognizes presence of AC Power. This prevents me from installing some XP patches from Microsoft.

Answer:A31: Battery indicator always shows laptop on Battery

Welcome to the forum!I'd suspect a blown fuse on the motherboard, but I might be wrong.Try booting from a "live" Linux CD and check whether the same issue (AC adapter not being "seen" although it's plugged in) persists.Good luck and keep us posted.

Lenovo SL 510 10mos old. Recently, the battery indicator shows" battery not installed" . Occurs when using either AC power or battery alone. Have removed and replaced battery, but message still the same. Power Manager also indicates battery not present. Operation is OK on battery alone, but I have no idea about state of battery charge, time remaining, etc. Is there a fix for this ? Will the firmware update issued 9-8-2010 resolve the issue? Help please.

Hi and welcome to the forum! You can try the firmware update, only then you would know for certain.I also suggest updating your Power Manager and Hotkey driver as it solved the issue for users of older SL machines:- http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/SL-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/SL400-Battery-not-installed/td-p/163264;jsess... http://lnv.lithium.com/t5/SL-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Problem-with-Power-Manager-Software-in-Windows-...Power Manager:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70601Hotkey driver:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-74261Hope it helps.

I bought a brand "new" Lenovo G70-80 from BestBuy a couple of weeks ago. I never noticed until last night but the battery is not charging even though the adapter is plugged in. Anyone else have the same issue and if so, were you able to get a replacement for your adapter and/or battery?

Hey guys I have a lenovo y50-70 gtx 960m, the model name is 20378, mtm:59418226My battery won't charge.. i'm looking to replace the ct cables. I took mine out, the color of the cords is black red and white . This part https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/10202989/Lenovo/5C10F78825/Ct_Cables_Internal looks indentical to what I have in my computer except the colour of the cables is different. Can I use this in my model? My model isn't listed on the website at all, for any parts. 59421855 is the oldest one on the list, so mine appears to be a bit older.. what do you guys think?

Hey all, I'm on Windows 10 and I'm having a problem were if I plug in my computer, the battery has a plugged in icon but it doesn't charge.  If I hover over the icon it says: plugged in, charging. The thing is the battery percentage doesn't go up nor does it say when it'll be done charging, all it shows me is the percentage. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and that does nothing. Energy manager says that the battery is charging but it clearly is not charging to its full capacity.

One day while using my laptop, the battery of my laptop was about to drain completely so I plugged it in. But the battery was not charging. I changed the plug point thinking there was some problem with the socket but still it did not worked. I removed the battery, reinserted it and tried to charge again but the problem still presisted. Then I removed my battery and plugged in the laptop. The laptop was working fine. Keeping the laptop plugged in (laptop shut down) and reinserted the battery. The battery charged for a while then the power button and power light (in the front on the edge of the body) started blinking. Therefore, I removed my battery. So now I charge my battery by first plugging in the laptop (battery removed) and then reinserting the battery. The blinking poblem also occurs very often.  Also when the battery is attached to the laptop and I try to charge it the laptop does not powers up. Model: Lenovo B40

My newly purchased Acer E14 (E5-475G-55BD) charging indicator is flashing but I haven't connected the adapter yet. I suspect the battery is weak but Windows 10 is reporting that the battery is 100% charged. My Acer last received Windows updates on Apr 5. and didn't use the computer for 4 days. Why is this happening and is this something I should worry? UPDATE: now battery is charging but percentage is not increasing.

The battery light on my Latitude 7370 started to flash in orange and the laptop is not using the battery. It does not start when the AC is not plugged, and shuts down immediately after the AC is unplugged. However, the Dell online diagnostic test for battery passes it as working OK (the test for motherboards also passes). In BIOS, I can see the battery as 100% charged; however it also says "Health: Communication Error". A week ago the battery still had enough charge for up to 5 hours of office work. I have tried to unplug the battery, start the laptop without it, and then plug the battery back. I have also tried unplugging and plugging back the CMOS battery. Neither of these helped at all. I have been using the laptop with WD15. The behavior persists on 2 different WD15 units as well as on the default AC charger.

HP laptop 6830s, windows XP1) I had my laptop on standby and forgot to connect to the power source overnight.Next day I noticed the amber battery light flashing (checked the manual which said its because the battery reached a critically low level). I have turned on the laptop whilst on the AC source and is working fine. When I click on the icon it says:current power source= ACpowertotal battery remaining: 0%below this there is an icon of a battery with a red cross - when I click on that icon I get another window and it says power state is on line. Any suggestions?2) If this is an indication that the battery needs replacing, can I keep using the laptop with the AC source??

Hi, I have G770 and noticed yesterday that power button and all four LED indicators are blinking at regular intervals. It happens when the battery is in the machine + it's plugged in. Battery was almost empty, I've plugged it in to charging, after 2-3 minutes, this blinking is repeated. Unplugged, plugged again, nothing has changed. In power management, all is set to full charging ('Optimize the battery lifetime'). Is that up to battery or....? Thanks

hello, I have a lenovo g50-45 laptop. It's a great laptop but recently I have been having a lot of trouble with the battery. Afew days ago, I started noticing that while the computer is plugged in to power, the battery always stays at 0%. It says that it is "charging" but it remains always at 0%. The Lenovo Energy Maneger says that "the battery is weak and needs to be replaced". I tried to do a "gauge reset" but it did not do anything. Under my laptop, the region under the power connection is very how while the battery is very cold.  I am not sure what's going on. Can anyone help? It is unique because it says that the laptop is 'charging' yet the battery always stays at 0% and does not actually charge. I suspect its the "Lenovo Energy Manager" that is preventing the battery from charging because it thinks that the battery needs to be replaced. I tried uninstalling the "Lenovo Energy Manager" but I am not sure how to do it. It does not show up in the list of programs in control panel. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Good afternoon, maybe it was already posted but little had no results so i'm opening another message Yesterday i told my battery power management to run a battery gauge reset test. But i think this damaged my battery. My battery will not recharge in what settings i put it. In the energy management tool when the battery is in my laptop i see that it has a Good health but is only discharging. With the power adapter connected to it. I have it put on maximum battery life. Is there something i can do to try to see what my problems are.I already measured my voltage and amps on the power adapter and that seems to work properly. Before i send it back for repairs i taught maybe somebody else has the same problem i have

Welcome to the forum ! As you sure the Battery Guage reset procedure completed its full cycle?  It sounds like your computer is still in its discharge phase.  The procedure for resetting the guage will take several hours to fully complete.  I did mine yesterday and it took almost 4 hours.  If nothing else, try re-running the gauge reset program and let it do its thing without interuption.  It may correct the problem on its own.

Tried every hint from the forums but nothing happened. When I look at the Battery condition it status that I have a Poor battery, Status = No activities. Do someone have any idea or hint? Does lenovo guarantee for a computer bought in US, applies in Brazil where I live?

Hi everyone. I am about to start college this week and I recently bought a new lenovo yoga from bestbuy about 2-3 weeks ago and up until yesterday night it was working completely fine. I shut it down before going to bed and this morning when I attempted to turn it on, it alerted me that the battery was dead. I didn't think too much of it so I plugged it back in and saw that the battery remains STUCK at 0% no matter how long it has been charging. When the laptop is on it says "Plugged in, charging" but it hasn't been storing any energy. Help????
