U410 - Can't load \Driver\WUDFRD for ROOT\LENOVOVHID\0000

Question: U410 - Can't load \Driver\WUDFRD for ROOT\LENOVOVHID\0000

I keep getting this warning in Windows 10 at every boot, as well as:

Can't load \Driver\WUDFRD for ROOT\SYSTEM\0002

I've seen that this is unsolved in other threads, hence opening a new one...and crossing fingers

Preferred Solution: U410 - Can't load \Driver\WUDFRD for ROOT\LENOVOVHID\0000

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am seeing several of these Warnings in the Event Viewer, Windows System logs. These are Event ID 219, Source Kernel-PnP.

That said, I am not experiencing any crashes, freezes, BSODs, and everything on my PC seems to be functional. So perhaps I can safely ignore these warnings, but I prefer to get to the bottom of something in case it will lead to problems in the future.

I have done some online research on this event, and none of the suggested fixes seem applicable to me. I have been vigilant in keeping all drivers on my machine up to date. I've checked, and there don't seem to be any newer drivers available for any of my hardware. I also have the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework service set to "automatic" startup.

The details of this event are below.

Any suggested action to remedy my problem? Thanks!

Answer:The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WPD\0000?

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed. Usually your video card driver.

Hi there!
I'm in a desperate need of help.
This is the situation (sorry for my bad English as always...).
Yesterday I left my PC running with a download in progress through MiPony.I told the program MiPony (for the first time) to shut down the PC at the end of the download.Until then the PC had no problem. Before going to bed I checked the PC and I saw that it was offThis morning I turned on the PC and I glimpsed a sign that it was starting a scan (the only letter I saw was I:\) but I could not stop it.The PC is turned on regularly. Only half an hour later I found out that an entire 3TB HDD in 4 partitions had disappearedI did some search and found this error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\PARAGONBLOCKDEVICE\0000.I tried to reboot but same situation (no scan and normal situation) but NO drive.I checked the event log (attached) and I see the problem started after 4 different event regarding my network connection (It's a week that I have to reset the modem \ router several times a day)

I'm getting an unsuccessful driver install message on my windows 8.1 laptop that reads like this: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000 with the following status: 0xE0000203

Under my device manager, under "other devices" there is a device labelled "unknown device" and under its details it also says SCSIADAPTER\0000 - what is this?

In addition to that, every time my system goes into sleep mode, it seems to crash and restart successfully on its own. In the reliability monitor report, I get the following message: windows stopped working. When viewing technical details, I get this message: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. I've also gotten a hardware error (the system used to frequently get them but it doesn't occur as frequently anymore). The message for the hardware error reads as: Description

Hi,

Since the 11/18/2012 event viewer (Event ID 219, Task Category 212) has been posting a warning:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN (followed by name of USB device)

It only occurs on start up if I have a USB memory device plugged into a USB port. The USB memory device functions perfectly and the error never occurs when I plug in and out a memory device after boot up.

The error only occurs for memory devices like memory sticks, external USB hard drive does not cause this error.

Checking back to around the 11/18/2012 I see nothing that I have changed/installed that might indicate something that has caused this. No other Windows 7 failures or issues.

Booting a second hard drive with windows 7 on the same system (I have this second installation for testing faults etc), the issue does NOT occur.

From checking forums and searching I have found a few others with this issue and a few articles on its cause

WUDFRd failed to load for the device

Event ID 219 is logged after you install Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

I was just curious as to why it would suddenly start occurring after a particular date when as far as I can tell I have not made any changes to anything around this date.

Also I wondered if there was a fix to stop this, other than removing a memory stick before boot up!

Any thoughts?

Answer:The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error

I just started getting this exact same error message logged in Event Viewer when I plug a USB stick into a USB port. It happens with two different sticks from two different manufactures, but it does not happen every time I plug them in. It seems that it may mostly happen the first time I plug a stick in after I have booted up my PC.

Have you been able to find a solution to get these error codes to stop logging?

Latest error which occuring at least once per day:

At Windows 10 startup this Warning appears in my Event Log as Event ID: 219.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\{a1c931b2-3b00-11e5-9c14-806e6f6e6963}#0000000008100000.

I know why this happens. The device in the message is an internal SATA AHCI hard drive. All AHCI drives, even internal ones, are considered removal or hot swapable. It even causes the safely remove icon to appear sort of like it was a USB drive. It happened on Windows 8.x. Don't remember if it happened on Windows 7. I can't make any changes in my BIOS to make it not hot swapable as there is no option for this drive.

The fix to get rid of the message in W8 was to modify the Service 'Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework' Changing the Startup type from Manual to Automatic fixed the problem. However, on Windows 10 this method does not work.

I can't disable the Service as it's needed for other devices. Just wondering if anyone found a nice clean way to get rid of the warning message like in W8?

Full event error: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device {C5A047D8-CB5B-40E9-B9E3-316AB06B5A18}\WirelessKeyboardFilter`

Driver environment:
Windows 10 x64 desktop
I have a wireless Microsoft mouse
I do not have a Microsoft wireless keyboard
I have the associated transceiver that should work for both (if installed)

This problem started when my Microsoft wireless mouse driver was updated to version 1.0.102.0 (dated 3/16/2016).
This driver update also appears to be responsible for a few other device errors as well:

I believe this new driver assumes you have a wireless keyboard (without checking) and just tries to load a driver for it.

My temporary fix is/was to rollback the driver to the previous Microsoft version 10.0.10586.0 (dated 6/21/2006):

Anyone else run across this condition or have a known solution using the latest driver?

Thanks,

aardvark

Been searching for days to find a solution for this problem (including fresh installs of Windows 10 etc), and today accidentally found it ... for my Asus Maximus V111 Formula at least, but it may also work on other motherboards

In BIOS, ensure that the XHCI Hand-Off is set to ENABLED (default is disabled)

I changed this, and now I can boot the system with USB devices inserted, and not get any Kernal-PnP warnings

Thanks,

aardvark

I'm getting this error once a day, where my computer crashes, and the only way to turn it off is to reset it and turn off my charger so I can turn it on again. What can I do?

*** Problem has reappeared, so this is NOT a solution ****
It worked for 5 reboots, so strange it reappeared

Been searching for days to find a solution for this problem (including fresh installs of Windows 10 etc), and today accidentally found it ... for my Asus Maximus V111 Formula at least, but it may also work on other motherboards

In BIOS, ensure that the XHCI Hand-Off is set to ENABLED (default is disabled)

I changed this, and now I can boot the system with USB devices inserted, and not get any Kernal-PnP warnings

Hope this helps somebody else

I tried the "fix" suggested in another thread (change the service "Windows Driver Foundation" to Automatic from Manual) and it works for awhile. However, I have made the change several times since the Event Warning comes back after a few days. Anybody got a way to make the "Automatic" stick. Windows 8.1 seems to have a need make it "Manual"!

Answer:Driver WUDFRd failed to load - Event ID 219

It should be set to manual w/trigger so that is not the solution to your issue (whatever that is):

For the past couple of days i have been having a problem where my computer just shuts down on its own and then turns back on again. It mostly happens when im launching or playing a game but a couple of times i was just on the desktop and it restarted. I have checked the event logs and it keeps saying this:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\SensorsAndLocationEnum\LPSensorSWDevice.

I have searched all over the internet for the past couple of days and have found multiple answers (all of which didn't work). Some say its the psu and others say its the gpu. I personally think it was the windows update that i did three days ago because that was the day it started but i have yet to see anything online about a windows update causing this. I have already updated the graphics drivers and chipset drivers but it didn't change anything. Can someone just tell me whats going on because is just built this pc about 6 months ago and nothing like this has ever happened.
Specs:
MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming Motherboard
Intel Core i7 4770K
Nvidia Geforce GTX 780TI
16GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHZ
680W PSU (Not sure what the brand is. I think it might be kentek or something)

Answer:ideapad 100-15IBD 80QQ ROOT\LENOVOVHID

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

The most common way to resolve that driver problem is to install the Lenovo Energy Management driver. Unfortunately in your situation there are no Energy Management (Manager) drivers available for Windows 7. In reviewing the available downloads for your model, Energy Management (Manager) downloads weren't available until Windows 10 was released. I'm assuming that your 100-15IDB was originally a Windows 10 machine on which you reverted back to Windows 7?

Windows 8.1 Pro x64 - please find the complete system log warning details below and a (related or not?) disk controller error below. Motherboard is an ASRock B75 Pro 3 with an Intel B75 Chipset.
I keep getting these warnings. I get them for all my Windows Portable Devices (disk drives) on boot up. Here are my disks:
Disk 0 on internal SATA 3 connector off an
ASMedia ASM1061 chip on motherboard (internal drive, but enumerated as removable) - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 D: data drive
Disk 1 on internal SATA 3 connector off the B75 chipset on motherboard (internal drive, not enumerated as removable - gives no warnings or errors - Seagate ST100DM003-1CH162 C: system drive (has Windows 8.1 OS on it)
Disk (2 or 3 depends on order of USB connection) on external USB 2.0 connector off back I/O panel of motherboard - Kingston DT 101 II USB device F: backup thumb drive
Disk (2 or 3 - depends on order of USB connection) on external USB 3.0 connector off back I/O panel of motherboard - Seagate BlackArmor DAS35 USB device G: backup external hard drive
There are no symptoms other than another (probably unrelated) disk controller error (shown below). The controller error is on either drive 2 or 3, but never 0 or 1, so it is one of the external back up drives (the thumb drive or the BlackArmor drive).
Note that on boot up I get the warning for disk 0 above whether or not the external drives are connected so the disk controller error may be unrel... Read more

Hello everyone,

This is what's showing up in my event viewer:

Event SourcelugPlayManager

The device Root\LEGACY_PCALERTDRIVER\0000 disappeared from the system

This is what's in my viewer, and has caused my system to reboot when the service fails. It came out of the blue on my new install after a week. I've spent alot of time researching, and came up with the*pcalertdriver* which is from MSI's core center. I uninstalled it with the hopes that all will be well now. I'm just not sure why it has *legacy* in front of it.

In device manager, everything shows up, all devices. I'm wondering if any of you had come across this error before? It's ID 11.

Any thoughts/opinions appreciated.

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer! I am Elle and I will be helping you out with your problem. Firstly, you should know that we are working with specific tools which are used to identify the possible threats present on your system so I will analyze the results they produce. As a start we need to have some more up-to-date logs than the ones you have already provided. The current state of the files on your system might have changed so we need to get a clear look on that aspect. DO NOT bring any changes to the system except the ones I tell you to as that may produce more damage than helping us. Hello,
I've been experiencing multiple bluescreens daily and what's odd about them is they occur randomly while using many programs; however, I have noticed that they occur more frequently directly after opening a new tab, loading a new site or running a game (StarCraft II).
Looking through Event Viewer. I see a list of warnings and errors immediately prior to the BSOD. In chronological order:

9:07:18 PM CRITICAL- "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

9:07:28 PM WARNING- "The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_0483&PID_2016\5&249af6f9&0&2."

9:07:42 PM ERROR- "The previous system shutdown at 9:05:49 PM on ‎7/‎13/‎2011 was unexpected."

9:07:44 PM ERROR- "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x0000099e0000007e, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xfffff80002a92885). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 071311-32869-01."

9:07:47 PM ERROR- "Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0"

I also get this warning quite often:
"The maximum file size for session "ReadyBoot" has been reached. As a result, events might be lost (not logged) to file "C:\Windows\Prefetch\ReadyBoot\ReadyBoot.etl". The maximum files size is currently set to 20971520 ... Read more

Hello to all,
Not being as deeply into computing as I once was, I am unable to resolve this issue if it is indeed a problem. Always have gotten munificent assistance in this forum and hoping for a hand.
I have been having several issues on my computer and I found and ran for the first time, System Info > Problem Device. Much to my surprise I was confronted with the Device = SBRE, the PNP Device ID = ROOT\LEGACY_SBRE\0000, Error Code This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all it's drivers.
The computer is a homebuilt, this is the second board and processor running W7 Ultimate 64 Bit. It is a
MSI G52-XXXX1HA board and a AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor. Did some research and got as far as going into the Device Manager, enabling hidden devices and in a list of Non-Plug and Play Devices I found the SBRE entry which shows an alert.

The unknown device is stopped and will not start because of uninstalled software.

Now as to the unknown issues I have that are discomforting and unknown to me as to why or how....
Both Motherboards have shown an inability to identify the SATA Ports consistently. Constant changing their order. C:\ drive becomes #1 and is shown as a secondary drive sometimes with my D:\ Drive showing as the primary or and vice versa.
The second problem is IIRC only occurring with the current board and processor, is that the OS will sometimes boot up to the control/alt/delete prompt and when entered, will not show the ac... Read more

hello, and welcome to the forums!
You need to first change the caps to regular letters...
thanks....Your computer is missing video adapter drivers.
Please post the make, model of this computer. And version of Windows you are using.
And if you know it, or have some paperwork that might show you, the make and model of the motherboard in it.
The USB problem is fixable too, when we get the info back from you.

It sounds like the video card you have supports multiple monitors...but the driver wants to be included, too- whether it needs to or not. Do you use any USB devices, like camera, scanner, printer, hard drive, burner, modem now?

Hi,
So my first xps 13 had ASF2 force off issues so I returned it and wanted to give another try, hoping this time I'll be lucky enough to get a properly working unit this time. However,

Since 4 days my laptop reboot 3 times, ASF2 force off error in power logs every time. And The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\INT3400\2&daba3ff&0 error in event viewer. (Also attached. ) Also whenever this problem occurs, "The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 30 seconds since the last report." warning is also given afterwards.
edit: All of them happened while on battery
Help and suggestions are welcomed. I will send this unit back and stay away from dell If i can not solve this again.

Answer:Satellite C50D-A-12x crashes often - driver WudfRd

Hi

It looks like the driver / service WudfRd causes the system crash.
After googling around it seems that other people have had the similar system problems.

The WUDFRd is a service and it is called "Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework" which is also responsible for USB devices

I would recommend you to disconnect all the devices you had connected to the notebook?s USB ports. You should also uninstall all USB hubs which appear in device manager and then reboot the notebook.

You should also go into services .msc and look for Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework. Check the status of this service. Usually it should be set to manual.
Under "Status" it could be set to off.
If you pluggin a USB device the status change to "Started".

Try to changed the startup type to "Automatic". Then shut down the notebook and restart. Then check the status again to see if it would be still set to automatic.

I recommend you to test and to monitor the notebook functionality without connection of any USB devices. Then plugged in an USB device again and check if an error would appear or system would crash.

Hi Misteryyy,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that Graphic driver is not installing properly on your Lenovo ThinkPad E420.

Are you sure that the system is shipped with additional Graphic card (ATI)?
If you are unable to download the exact driver for your system please download ThinkVantage system update utility application and install it.
After the installation run the application so that it will search all the required drivers and application for your system.

Slow booting. Really slow booting. Seems that using an SD card for ReadyBoot/ReadyBoost is causing the issue. But why?
On investigation, this only started happening back in November, which coincides with the install of KB2685813 UMDF 1.11 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2685813).
Could be a bit buggy....

I'll uninstall the update and see if this solves the issue.

Hmm. Now that is interesting.
In my System event log I was getting an NTFS error (57: Failed to flush tlog). I didn't think it was from my HDD, so using diskpart, I ran a 'CLEAN ALL' on my SD card, then recreated the FS as exFAT (previously it was NTFS).
Seems to be working now, although I'm getting VDS Basic Provider errors (Unexpected failure. Error code:
[email protected]) "which can be safely ignored" (re: KB979391).
This begs the question: if it can be safely ignored, why is it raised in the first place?
Boot time is also restored to an acceptable timescale.

Dear all, I have a peculiar case. My Lenovo U410 (nov. 2012) has 2 USB 3.0 ports, one close to the HDMI interface (called 1) and 2. If I connect an USB 3.0 7-ports hub (Anker or ORICO) to port 1, everything works as expected. The start-up process with the hub connected to the computer is reliable and everything is nice. The combination is really fast for all USB 3.0 equipment connected to it, external HD, Disk Drive, Memory stick.. However, if I connect the same hub to port 2, starting up is a problem in 50% of all trials....In such a case the start-up process is halted before WINDOWS 7 can present itself. (Grey screen) An USB 3.0 external drive does the same but less frequent (20% of the trials) . This driveis also feeded externally. If I connect USB 2.0 equipment to port 2 (a memory stick or a mouse), the start-up process is always fine and realiable. Remarkable:If the U410 succeeds in the starting process (which is really fast) both ports are working fine, with all USB 3.0 equipment. Any ideas about the difference in USB 3.0 behaviour between ports 1 and 2 during start-up?Is this normal behaviour for the U410 computers? Please confirm Lenovo.... Thanks in advance for your replies and ideas.

I can't seem to get Windows 7 SP1 to load a driver for an HP printer that is on my home network. My laptop sees it but won't let me make it the default printer or load a driver so that I can link to it wirelessly. I restored my laptop back to windows 7
because Windows 10 was moving too slow. I only have 4gigs of memory, and windows 10 probably runs better with 8gigs of memory.

I'm working with a Dell Dimension C521 PC. It came with a PCI-Express video card which apparently has failed, yet the motherboard itself has on-board video. The system will boot using this video output (as opposed to the card which produced nothing) but when it finally gets to windows the auto-detect driver routine kicks in and begins to detect the video card, prompting the user to "Continue Anyway" to finish installing unsigned drivers. Unfortunately this event takes place in front of the installation of the USB keyboard and mouse (times like these I wish it had PS/2 ). Anyway, whether I boot up into Safe Mode or normal a prompt comes up about installing drivers for the on-board chipset. I can't interact with it because the driver install routine for the keyboard/mouse becomes interrupted.

Answer:Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

Bump. I've been thinking... the only way I think this can be fixed is if I boot from a Linux CD or something similar and delete a particular set of drivers for this video card. It can't prompt you to install any drivers if they don't exist, right? But I don't know where to go to delete such files and prevent them from automatically trying to install themselves. Any ideas?

Just as the title suggests, the GPU in my U410 is not increasing its clocks under load. While playing games like Counter Strike: GO, the load is roughly 95% and the clocks stay at 270/405 for core/memory. Under these conditions, the temp never exceeds 60C as well. Why does this happen? I am 100% sure that the clocks can and will increase because I was able to play games fine before, but this happens intermittently. I recently updated the drivers, but this has happened since I first bought this laptop. Before I would just keep restarting the game until it is finally playable, but I cannot stand doing this anymore since it may take 10 restarts to play well, or it may take 2. Sometimes I get lucky, but I don't want to be "lucky." I want to get this fixed! Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.(Monitored by GPU-Z)

Answer:Lenovo U410 GeForce 610m Not Increasing Clocks Under Load

Doesn't matter really, you better disable the nvidia card in the bios as the gt610m is slower than the Intel HD4000 graphics. And it consumes more power. You do have to tinker with the Intel graphics console to maximize performance profiles. By default it's battery efficient even on powercord. The Gt610m is just a marketing gimmick so they can trick customers into thinking they get better performance because of a dedicated GPU.

I cannot get the usb root hub to load the hardware. I have a dell 8400 with windows xp home with service pack 2. I have checked the irq and do not see any conflict there. I have uninstalled and installed the drivers so many times but does no good. I bought a pci card and installed that and it does the same thing. When you go into the system all you see under usb where you should see usb root hub is unknown device and yellow exclamation tags. I have reloaded the chip set and updated the bios and still see nothing good happening. Where does the information come from for these root hubs to load the hardware? I am by no means a computer expert just a beginner. This is my husbands computer and he had not used the usb until he got a ipod and could not use the usb ports so don't no how long they have been out. He has had a lot of trouble with this computer and has had 2 hard drives, dvd drive and memory all replaced under warranty which is now expired. So he has had to format the new drive and reinstall all the operating system and drivers. That is the only thing I have not done yet is format and reinstall all the programs was hoping that would not have to do that.

Answer:usb root hub will not load hardware there for cannot us my usb connection

Travel to Dell's site and enter your service tag # from the machine. DLoad and re-install the MBoard drivers and this should cure the problem.

Question: U410 Mouse Driver

I just bought a Lenovo u410 and I had to try and reinsall the Synaptics touchpad driver. I managed to uninstall the driver but I tried to install the new driver listed on the Lenovo site only to be met with an error stating that I need to install the 64-bit version of DPinst rather than the 32 bit one. The downlod link stated that this was for both the 32 and 64 bit versions? So now I'm kinda stuck. Any ideas?

Recently upgraded my U410 with a 512GB SSD. Installed Windows 10 and so far everything works like a charm and it's pretty much faster than it ever was (even new!), but USB Ports seem to run on USB 2.0 only.

Since it is not officially supported for Windows 10, is there any chance to get a driver to get the USB speed back to 3.0?

Hello all. My name's Richard and I have a problem. My U410 was stolen (bastards!) on Christmas Eve (double bastards!) but I had an old System Image saved on an external hard drive. So I bought exactly the same laptop second-hand intending to restore the image. However, when I try to restore it via Control Panel, after the restart the computer tells me I have to do the restore process from a Windows System Repair disc instead, because it needs to reformat the drive that the Restore Environment is running from. Obviously, the U410 doesn't have a CD drive, so I made a Windows 7 64 bit USB restore drive, and moved the USB drive up in my boot list so I can boot from it. This lets me get to the stage of selecting my system image from the external hard drive. The restore process starts for three seconds, then I get error 0x80042414: the system cannot find the drives onto which the image should be copied. I've done some digging around and used diskpart to discover that the two internal hard drives aren't loading / aren't visible when I boot from the USB. When I run diskpart from windows I have four disks: the USB, the external hard drive, an 8GB one which I guess is the SSD and the 698GB HDD. When I navigate to the command promt in the Recovery Environment diskpart only lists the USB and the external hard drive. So I'm thinking that the internal drives aren't loading up for some reason when I boot from the USB. Is there any way ro... Read more

Hi Richard, I'm sorry you had to go through some pretty emotional trauma with your U410 getting stolen and all. However, I do hope you are back on track now. I haven't been as unfortunate as you. However, I need to restore Win 7 on my U410. I have with me the recovery disks purchased from Lenovo. My question is, were you able to get the image onto a USB disk to perform the restoration? If so, could you point me to some instructions? Seriously, Lenovo ships laptop specific recovery images on optical disks for their laptops that do not have optical drives. Makes no sense to me. It's time they sell recovery images on USB drives.

Hello,

My computer has been taking longer to load during startup and specifically, sometimes will not load the desktop at all. At those times, all I will see is my desktop background but no icons, start button, clock, etc. If this occurs I will have to Cntl-Alt-Del and restart. It tells me that it needs to end a program, and the program is called U Core Root.Window. If I restart generally the next time the full desktop will appear. Is something going on with registry items? Is it something else?

It's also been running worse in general over the last few weeks but Kaspersky virus software didn't find anything. I tried to System Restore and it wouldn't let me restore to any of the restore points, so that's a separate problem. (Why does it do that? Can it be fixed?)

My computer is Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop, Windows XP. Thank you so much for your help - you guys have always done wonders for me in the past!

Answer:U410 touchpad Driver stops working

Most likely you're experiencing this issue when starting Microsoft Office (I did too)Here's how to fix it 1.Download the 16.3.9.0 driver from herehttp://www.station-drivers.com/page/Synaptics.htm2.uninstall your current synaptics driver and reboot when it asks you to (your touchpad will still work, just without gestures and it will move slower than before)3.Install the new driver and restart if it asks you to4.Go to the mouse properties and the synaptics tab and adjust the touchpad to your liking(here will be 2 devices listed, clicking the settings of one of them brings up manufacturer information, the other will bring up configuration)5.No more nonworking driver just so you know, resuming from sleep will cause the synaptics driver icon to appear in your taskbar even if you have disabled it from appearing there, but it will go away automaticallyand also, the 4-finger flick option in the configuration settings will not work, but everything else shouldmessage me if you need assistance

Would like to know if it's OK to update the Intel RAID driver. Currently version 11.1.0.1006 is installed. Intel Driver Update Utility reports version 11.6.0.1030 is available. It does say to check with manufacturer first. TIA!

Answer:Update Intel RAID Driver on U410

Its never reccomended to update drivers if they are working fine. Who knows, updating them might cause a problem. So its all your wish.

Hi all! I have a Lenovo U410 Ultrabook today with Win8. I decided to fomat my computer to start fresh with a clean install of Windows 8 64x PRO. My problem is with the drivers of Intel Rapid Start Technology, when I run 0wff05w8.exe (1.52MB), it gives me an error, saying "The Computer Does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." I downloaded this driver from U410 driver website.http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031449 Anyone know the problem? Thanks in advanceGonzalo

Answer:Can't Install IFFS Driver from Intel on U410 W8 PRO

hi gonzalogomez,

If you have the Lenovo U410 (4376) without a Solid State Drive (SSD) as listed in this pdf data sheet, then the Intel Rapid Start Technology will not work as it requires an SSD drive to store the hibernation files.

To verify if you have an SSD drive, boot into the BIOS by pressing Fn+F2 and look for the SSD device on the Information Tab.
  Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you do have the SSD device, make sure the SATA Controller working mode is set to RAID under the Configuration Tab.

Click here for more information on how the Intel Rapid Start Technology works.

Edit: Added BIOS image

Hope this helps.

Hi, I've noticed the Wifi on my U410 gives me slow speeds compared to a USB Wifi card or Ethernet. The lenovo support and drivers site lists a different Wifi card for the U410 from the one installed on my machine. The Wifi card installed in my machine is an Atheros AR9485WB-EG, whereas the support and drivers website only lists a driver for: WIFI Driver (Intel, CyberTan, Liteon). Is anyone able to help me get an updated driver for this machine? Why does the website list a completely different Wifi card? Thanks!Mike

Answer:U410 slow Wifi & Driver issues.

hi M1chaelR,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you looked into http://support.lenovo.com, the drivers there are mostly for the US version of the U410. If you purchased the Lenovo U410 in the UK, try these drivers for Atheros AR9485WB:

File: win8-10.0.0.234-whql.zip

OS: Windows 8 32/64bit
Version: 10.0.0.234

File: win8-10.0.0.234-whql.zip
OS: Windows 7 32/64bit
Version: 10.0.0.234

Let me know your findings.

Cheers

Answer:U310 & U410 - Black one inch Bar on the right side of the screen on my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Laptop.

hi dharamc,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried checking this issue under the BIOS mode.
Power ON the computer and start hitting F2.

If the problem is visible under BIOS, then don't mind the driver as the problem might be the GPU or the LCD screen.
to isolate the issue further you can use an external monitor.

If the problem is not visible under an external monitor, then you have a problem with the GPU

Let us know your findings
Cheers!

I, too, have had the same issue that users in this thread are reporting. I have a U410 bought in the spring of 2014. There was a break at the hinge and the screen is separating from the lid. I've never dropped the computer, this issue arose one day after general, every day use. I've attached photos of the issue for others to reference.

Answer:Re: Lenovo Ideapad U410 and U410 Touch broken hing...

I am not having a very good repair experience. My exactly (to the date) 1 year Ideapad U410 hinge broke. Was not dropped or put pressure on - just poor workmanship. Sent to the 'authorized' repair centre in NOrth Bay Canada. Turn around time is 7 business days. All I get is a message - waiting for parts. This is terrible when a large company like Lenovo can't get parts where needed.I am going through a very rough time as my business is affected

For about the last two weeks (for some unknown reason) Intel Rapid Start Technology is unable to start on my U410 Laptop. I attempted to reinstall the driver from the Lenovo page, but when I get to the install point I get a message stating my device does not meet the minimum specifications for this technology! It's making start ups and logging on a major drag Has anyone experienced this before? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Rory

I'm stuck, please help,
I have a ThinkCentre M52 I believe (MT-M 8113-D5U) with serial number *******) and I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro on it. The hard drive crashed and I had to replace it. That means I'm installing Windows from scratch. Of course the original CD's that came with the system cannot be found. Anyway, after a day and a half I have managed to find all of the drivers for the system, including the ADI SoundMAX audio driver with hotfix kb888111, except for one. I still have 5 unknown devices in Device Manager that have a description of USB Root Hub. I found the other drivers at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-60651 but in the USB 2.0 section, the website states that the driver for Windows XP is "Native to operating system with Service Pack 1". I have tried Windows XP with SP1, SP2 and now SP3 and the OS still lists these devices as unknown with a yellow exclamation mark. Windows update doesn't find a driver for them either. This is the last driver I'm missing. What can I do to get the OS to see these devices properly?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, so I have uninstalled Windows 8 and installed Windows 7 64bit Pro on my new Lenovo Ideapad u410. I managed to get all the drivers working... EXCEPT ONE: The WLAN. Now here's what I did and what happens everytime I try to install the WLAN driver:I have downloaded the driver "WiFi Link Driver (Intel, CyberTan, Liteon) for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)" from the page http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT073650 multiple times and tried installing it multiple times. The installation process works until the status "Search the target device in this machine" shows up. As soon as this status shows up, the installation exits without an error message or anything else. Please help me to get it working. I can't even use this machine without WLAN. By the way:- LAN works fine- It's not a hardware issue as the WiFi worked fine on the preinstalled Win8- The WiFi won't even show up under Windows- I have not installed the "Intel WiMax Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)" driver as I am told that this is not used.- Of course I am running the .exe as Administrator- It may have to do something with my partitions as I tried installing Win7 on UEFI before, I can post these if you need to see them.

Answer:Cannot install WLAN Driver on my U410 - Aborts on "Search the target device in this machine".

Hi moeper,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

The driver may not be finding the Wifi Device, that's why the driver installation is failing.
  Try This,
Turn Off the System, Turn it back on and start hitting F2
Check under Configuration TAB and and look for WLAN option,

If Disabled - Enable it then Hit F10 to save the settings
If Enabled - Disable it Hit F10 to save, Then go back to hitting F2 and enable it back,

Then Reinstall the Driver
WiFi Link Driver (Intel, CyberTan, Liteon)

If still Nogo
Try Opening Device Manager and look for your wireless device It should be located under Network Adapters
or it should show as Network Controller or unknown device with an exclamation mark.
If you were able to find it get the hardware id of that and post it back here

Regards
Solid Cruver

hello friends,

I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit and under device manager i found an unknown device with some information (as shown in screenshot)

Laptop Model: HP Pavilion e015 tx

I did a search on HP website, and forums, but found nothing. and no corresponding driver is listed on the driver updates page either.

can i safely uninstall this driver ?

I want to uninstall this driver because lately my Windows 8.1 crashed (_PFN_list_corrupt error) and that was most probably due to a faulty driver.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Please can someone help me with this

Since the last windows 10 update i am having trouble in particular with one driver called:

ASMedia USB Root Hub Driver

This USB keeps installing itself and never stops. I keep hearing the windows beep that usually comes when you insert a new usb input into your computer. I have also tried uninstalling this and installing it again, but still same issue. It only stops beeping if i completly uninstall this driver or disable it. But then obiouvsly the USB doesnt even work.To be honest im nto even sure which USB input it is? Is it motherboard based or external? Ive spent many hours scratching my head to no avail, please if you could help in anyway it would be really appreciated!!

I have already tried installing the driver given above but still same issue even with 1.16.47.1

Thanks.

Update: after uninstalling the asmedia usb hub I also removed the asmedia USB 3.1 extensible host controller.

Since then I keep getting the blue screen of death and windows keeps crashing about 30secs after it enters desktop.

I tried do a windows restore but that kept failing, luckily I had the driver for asmedia downloaded, so after I restarted I quickly installed it back before it crashed again. That solves the crashing problem but now those drivers are back again and keep trying to install constantly automatically. Also I believe it's a USB on my motherboard as that one doesn't seem to be functioning anymore.

I really do not need a reference to MS info etc. Thanks though. The DEVICE MANAGER shows that this driver is not present and of course, not re installable reusual fix!I have searched frustratingly high and low for this USB guy and came across it associated with XP SP-1, nice, but with my installed SP-3 it wouldn't install the bloody driver or anything else.being SP1I understand why etc. but further searching just landed me in the commercial driver/booster/updater etc quigmire. From past experience these are pretty worthless. The one that initially sucked me in - didn't even detect that the USB driver was not there! So am pretty well desperately looking for the USB2.0 driver that will work on the Windows XP pro OS. Anyone out there can throw me a lifeline? Thanks guys.Mike

Answer:Missing USB2.0 ROOT HUB DRIVER

USB Drivers usually come with the Chip set Driver for the motherboard you are using. You need to be looking that the motherboard manufactures web site. That is assuming you hardware is USB 2. You cannot make US 1.2 to USB 2 with software.Stuart
