Lenovo Ideapad U530 Windows 10 Compatible Drivers

Question: Lenovo Ideapad U530 Windows 10 Compatible Drivers

I have a Lenovo Ideapad U530 natively with Windows 8.1, now that the time has come and Windows 10 just launched some 2 days ago, I was wondering if this model was 100% drivers compatible and updated for Windoes 10.I have checked the Lenovo Drivers Download page (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u530-... and there are some Windos 10 compatible drivers.Should I wait for more drivers? Or can I just use the ones already are available and download the Windows 8.1 drivers?

Preferred Solution: Lenovo Ideapad U530 Windows 10 Compatible Drivers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey Forum! My name is Tobias and I come from Austria.Im 15 years old and recently bought the Lenovo Ideapad U530 for next school year.Because i was very busy in school, and didnt need the ideapad yet, i nearly never used it. (because i need it for the next school year)Now, in a couple of months i need this laptop for my school, so i tested the laptop out. It's booting very fast, but the graphics card is very weak and the solution "Full HD" (Amazon) not 1920x1080 as i thought. Im really sad about that. I spent 860Euros for this weak graphics.I took a look on your other laptops like the Thinkpad Edge e540.It's nearly the same, but +graphics card +graphics solution. It costs nearly the same too.So i wanted to ask if there is any exchange possible or not.I just searched in some forums and read about the "10 days rule".Please could some Support answer back.Sorry for my bad english.Greetings,Tobias Info:Nearly unusedBought it uhmm.. ca. 4 months agoWorking fine

Hello, My webcam has stopped working. After over 8 hours with Windows support and relentlessly trying to install/uninstall the camera drivers suggested on the U530 drivers page, they redirected me here and assumed I needed to update the BIOS, as the newly installed drivers did not show up on the device manager list. I tried going through the solutions listed on this forum: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/U530-webcam-not-working-drivers-disappe... to no avail. I did not do the reset step as I do not have enough space on my laptop to back it up as suggested and have quite a few files I do not want to lose. If absolutely necessary I can go get an external hard drive, but I have already also tried rolling back Windows 10 to a prior update to no avail either. I did try to use that link to update the BIOS, but I have Windows 10, not 8. Is there another BIOS update that would fix this for me? When I go into device managers, there is no tab for imaging devices. Under the Sound/Game category, there is Cyberlink Webcam Driver, but that's it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit; this is my first time on the boards. My apologies if it was posted under the wrong category--I got really confused.

I have also double checked to make sure the privacy settings on my camera are on (they are), so that is not the problem either.

I found the lid replacement but not the front bezel.  If anyone knows of one that is new or used I can purchase please let me know.

Answer:iso LENOVO IdeaPad U530 touch front lcd BEZEL

It's been awhile since I semi rebuilt my u530 after the hinge failed.  I don't recall it having a seperate bezel at all, the digitizer goes edge to edge and the "bezel" is masked onto the back of the glass.  FWIW, without the digitizer, I used duct tape to hold the screen in and hardware store bought bolts to reattach the lid.  UGLY!  It's been a while and my memory might be foggy, I want to forget about that experience.  If you're rebuilding because of hinge attachment failure?  You should contact Lenovo, even out of warranty and see if you can't get them to cover it.  It's a well-known design flaw.  Good luck!

So I purchased my Ideapad U530 Touch two years ago and unfortunately I had an extremely common hardware failure occur after my warranty period. One day, without reason or warning, my left hinge on my laptop completely failed when I went to open it. The hinge was stuck in the closed position and when opened it seperated from the laptop screen with a series of unexpected cracks and pops. I spent over $1,000 on this laptop expecting it to make it through my years at college but now I am left with a laptop barely connected to it's built-in monitor. I contacted lenovo support and the support rep even admitted that this is an extremely common occurence but stated that since I am out of warranty, I am basically out of luck and $1,000. You can easily google or search these forums and find that this is obviously a fault in the Lenovo design but they stated that nothing can be done because they can't put me in the system even. The support rep sounded extremely foreign and was unwilling to provide me with any help other than calling Best Buy and paying for a repair. My problem with this is that if I was "lucky" enough to have this design flaw happen during my warranty, I would be provided a repair. But since I was unlucky and had it occur after, I basically lost my money. To me, this is absolutely horrendous customer service for a company that I am sure has billions of dollars in profit. They sold me a flawed laptop that was destined to break at some point and now I have no ch... Read more

How do you display bios to an external monitor for a Lenovo Ideapad u530 running Windows 10? I can get Windows 10 login page to show on the external monitor but not the bios details. Reason: I have an almost non-functional laptop screen so I'm using the external monitor. What I see in the bios screen (on the almost non-functional laptop screen) is Insydeh20 setup utility. Is there an option in this utility to force the bios to the external monitor?

Hey all, sorry if this is the wrong spot for my post but I'm new around here. Yesterday, my Ideapad's battery malfunctioned when it was around 20%, and when I tried to plug in the ac adapter, it wouldn't charge. Eventually the battery ran down to 0, and now I'm stuck with a dead battery and laptop. Is there anything I can do? I initially thought it was the charger, and I ordered a new one, but even the new charger won't charge it either.

My less than two month old IdeaPad U530 broke - turned out it needed a new SSD.  At that time, I should have insisted on a new computer - this shouldn't have happened in such a short period of time.  When it was returned, it still didn't work - this time there was a WiFi problem.  It was shipped back for repair and I have been told that the "part" is not available.  At this point, I have been without a working laptop since the end of May.  In fact, I have been without a working laptop longer than I had a working one!  I think Lenovo should replace the computer; however, I have been unable to find anyone who can address this issue with me.  The online "chat" person "Prasanna R" couldn't tell me who to talk to - only that they wouldn't replace it unless bought through the website.  I bought this from BestBuy who keeps returning it to the "official" Lenovo repair center and BB claims they can't replace it only Lenovo can.  Is this a piece of junk or did I get a lemon and who at Lenovo handles these problems?

I have an Ideapad U530 Touch running windows 8.1. I accidentially disabled the Nvidia GeForce GT730M graphics card and no I cannot get it back. When I initially disabled like an idiot I lost most video capabilities as the only thing I saw was a very dark screen. I rebooted and the computer would just load to a blue screen. I was able to get into BIOS and change to UMA only which allowed me to at least get back on the computer. However, now the Nvidia card is not being detected as being on the computer. Is there a way to re-enable it? The display is now running on the Intel set up but it is very fuzzy and I would prefer to have it back running like it used to. Thanks

Answer:Nvidia GeForce GT730M Graphic Card No longer Detected on Lenovo Ideapad U530 Touch Laptop

Hi adlb1300,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Switching to UMA will disable it physically leaving it undetected by the computer.
Switch it back to Switchable or auto then I suggest you perform a Factory recovery to have the proper dirver on it.
Afte switching it back to Switchable in BIOS Turn the system OFF and press the Onekey Recovery Button to boot into recovery.

Regards

Answer:Lenovo g400s - Compatible Windows 10 Drivers?

Hi krisma2shae ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

One thing that you would notice is that there are still no listing of drivers for Windows 10 on the support site.

On the Lenovo supported systems list for Windows 10 Upgrade :  (G400s not listed)" If your system is not listed, it hasn?t been tested for Windows 10 upgrade and is not supported.
The computer model include hardware components not fully compatible with Windows 10 ,therefore, upgrading these models to Windows 10 is not recommended. "

If you want to still try Windows 10 , it would be best to back up your files and create your recovery media .
If thing did not work out well for you then you may just rollback to your original Windows version .

Hope this helped you on your decision.

Answer:[ASK] Drivers for Lenovo IdeaPad z480 for Windows 8 64 bit

You should mention which operating system you are using now . Assuming its windows 7 ? what you should do is view your Devise Manager area for the following >> Sound , video and game controllers for your Audio . Then open Network Adapter and view was there  internet wireless and your PCI internet adapter . Then Display adapters for your Graphic . Write all these down , Once you know which is for you system then go to the following and save the drivers http://support.lenovo.com/en_CA/downloads/default.page?  Another thing I also like to install the Chipset first , so get that driver as well . Its pretty easy to select from Windows 8 64 bit only you shall see

Hello,I bought a computer in a Chinese online shop In March - 2015 , it came included with Windows 8 which is not working with the programs I need to use so I formated it and straighaway installed Windows 7 64 Bits. The problem was to find the drivers, after a long search on internet I could barely find all the drivers , cause that model of Computer is not listed as a product of yours (it seems to be a pirate chinese modification).Anyways I could install everything but the USB 3.0 controller for my USB 3.0 sockets that the computer has on its left side.I tried many diferent solutions looking on internet and I gave up many times, as the shop is in China is not profitable for me to return it.The computer performance is nice but this thing of the USB is just driving me crazy, took me 10 entire hours dedicated to find the solution, and still didnt find anything. Here I send you some links that might be usefull for determining what kind of problem I have.http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6514312154.html?orderId=65986863578699   (the computer to sell)************************* (mi computer S/N)Please answer me asap,Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo 300-17ISK ideapad (80QH00ELPB) drivers for Windows 7 32bit

Hi camilos,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The Recent issue on Skylake and Kabylake for Windows 7 are the level of support.
Lenovo OEM extended support does not include Ideapad 300-17isk among supported list.

You may try to get specific drivers from the device manufacturer.
I checked the WLAN card using under parts look up page:
Part number 00JT497 Wireless,CMB,IN,3165 ac / Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165

Try using Intel® Driver Update Utility if Windows Update (check on the optional driver) was unable to provide one. Else, you may have a better option using Windows 7 64 bit instead.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone could direct me to the proper windows 8.1 professional drivers for my lenovo ideapad y470? I saw other threads but nothing specific and I want to make sure I have the right drivers. I installed the drivers from the official website, but I read something about using the old windows 7 energy management tool and some other things so I want to know I installed everything properly. Here are some screenshots of what I have installed and perhaps you could tell me if I need to uninstall or install something I missed?

Here is a screenshot to better help understand my issue:

1) What can I do about my (D: ) drive? Is it suppose to be there... How do I find out if my computer is actually using those drivers... I am fairly certain those in (C: ) are what is being used so I am confused about the (D: ) drive.

2) Looking at the (C: ) drive (if i'm right about it being what my computer is using) do I have the correct drivers installed?

My main concern is that my gfx card is functioning properly. Sometimes when I am playing a game it is very smooth and then it will get choppy then continue being smooth. It seems to happen on and off. it doesn't make the games unplayable but it seems strange to me and frustrating at times. These are games optimized with Nvidia GeForce Experience so I'd think there would be 0 fps lag? Maybe I am wrong and that is just how it works? How do I know my graph... Read more

Answer:Lenovo ideapad Y470 hardware upgrade + windows 8.1 pro (64 bit) drivers

D: drive is a hidden partition with drivers and applications that are installed during recovery. Seems like during update the information to hide this partition was lost. You don't have to do anything about it. Regarding hardware:The correct ram for your laptop is laptop DDR3 (so-dimm). The exact model should be DDR3-1600 or DDR3-PC12800 (same, different name). Watch out for DDR3L- those are for newer Haswell CPUs.There is a latch on the bottom side of the laptop where you can access RAM sticks. If you have only one- just buy another 4GB stick. Unless you do heavy graphic/video editing or are running Virtual Machines you won't benefit from more than 8GB of RAM. If you have already 2 sticks installed, then unfortunately you will have to replace them. You can go 2x8GB for 16GB of RAM, or save some money and buy 2x4GB.If Y470 has mSATA port, then it would be a good idea to buy a mSATA SSD. This way you'll have both SSD, and your old hard drive in your laptop. There's plenty to choose from. Read some reviews and comparisons on the internet. Stick with popular brands like OCZ, Crucial, Samsung, Plextor. 128GB should be enough for OS and apps as long as you keep all data like movies and pictures on your HDD.

I bought an Ideapad u530 about 4 months ago. I'm running windows 8.1 on it. The scroll function on the trackpad will randomly stop working. I'm running the latest Synaptics driver and I have tried reverting to older versions, but neither work. The only thing that works is rebooting. I'll be using the laptop and the scroll function will be working fine. I close it up when I'm done using it, come back to it later, open the lid, and the scroll function will not work. This is so frustrating. How can I fix this annoying issue without having to reboot every time the scroll stops working? Thanks

Hello NikosGr, Windows 8 is still a new Operating System, therefore glitches still need to be worked out in future updates. Make sure to go to Lenovo's support website and see if there are any drivers for those devices for Windows 8. Try the Windows 7 drivers too as some of those will work with Windows 8. As for the Broadcom card being slow, they are decent cards, but not the best. I've had issues with mine when I first got my laptop. Hope that helps.

Yesterday afternoon I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Z575 for $499.00 from this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328

Obviously, it hasn't come in the mail yet. I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in the laptop. It comes with 6gb of RAM, a 4gb stick and a 2gb stick. The problem is, I don't really know what kind of RAM is in the computer. I'm looking to replace the 2gb stick with a second 4gb stick.

The type of RAM the laptop uses is pc3-10600 1333mhz ddr3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin so-dimm socket RAM.

My question is whether or not this RAM is compatible with the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3T4G3-US/dp/B00591ZYX8

Also, if there is a better option for RAM for this laptop, I'd like to know.

Answer:Solved: Is this RAM compatible with my Lenovo IdeaPad Z575?

Honestly, I think I may have mental problems. It looks like I answered my own question in this post. That RAM is compatible with my laptop. So I guess I'd just like to know if this RAM is the best option for this particular laptop.

Hey guys,  I have the Lenovo Ideapad 520 (80YL00RXIN) and wanted to replace the CD Drive with the Samsung 850 Evo 250GB Solid State Drive  in order to increase the Boot Speed and over-all speed of the laptop.  So, the question is, Is the Samsung 850 Evo SSD compatible with my laptop? And will it fit in terms of size, in place of the CD Drive? Also, is it recommended to add the SSD? Any downsides to doing so?  Lastly, will I, someone who knows the basics about computers and the internal components of a computer, be able to install the SSD myself? Or would I rather outsource it to someone who deals in things like this? Thank you. Regards,Neel.

Hello dear Community! I've got a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 notebook, purchased 4 years ago.Not so long ago the HDD just went wrong again so now I'd like to put an SSD in it instead of a new HDD.Here's my first found: SSD Kingston 240 GB SSD, V300, 7mm (other specs: 2,5 inch, SATA3 interface). So, my question #1 is whether this SSD will be okay for my machine or not?If not could You just suggest me another ones that are compatible with it for sure (around the same capacity)? Another but not so important question #2: is it possible that changing the drive manually (no guarantee anymore) will cause the original (with-purchased) Win7 OS not working? Thank You very much for Your response in advance! Best regards,Zsolt László

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - compatible SSDs

hi Zsolt,

Welcome to the Forums.

I haven't seen anyone used the Kingston 240 GB SSD on the Z570 but it should work as it's a 2.5" drive (ensure that you can return the item though just in case the BIOS doesn't detect it).

Alternatively, you can opt to get another brand like the Samsung Evo as other users have tested it on this unit.

Video:
Samsung SSD on the Z570

As for the OS, Windows should automatically activate itself once you re-install Windows (e.g., From a backup, a recovery disc, or fresh install) but in case it doesn't activate, you will need to activate it by phone.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 (20287) - Compatible mSATA SSDs?

hi Charlotte,

Regarding your questions:
1. Looking at the specs sheet, the Ideapad Z510 does have a mini PCie card slot to fit an mSATA SSD but it doesn't indicate that it supports mSATA data signaling (and this slot is occupied by the wireless adapter).
  - Link to picture (page 27 of the HMM)
  - Z510 Specs

2. Not compatible. If you're leaning towards an SSD upgrade, you could consider getting a regular 2.5" SATA SSD and replace the HDD with the SSD and install Windows 7 on it. Check this thread as other users have sucessfully installed Win7 on their Z510.

3. Natively, these are some of the systems that supports mSATA:
   - IdeaPad Y400 / Y500
   - IdeaPad Yoga 13
   - IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro
   - IdeaPad U310 / U410 / U510
   - IdeaPad Y580

Nowhere in the documentation, web site is any info about what kind of controller and hence what size SD cards this model is supporting.Even Lenovo tech support doesn't know that info!I am really hesitant to buy a SDXC card of +32GB only to find out it supports on SDHC cards, thus limited to 32GB... thanks for any useful info, Ralf

Answer:What kind of SD card controller is in a Lenovo IdeaPad 120S-11AIP? SDHC or SDXC compatible?

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Hi, possibly right after installing some updates, i saw that the cursor was big as if i was holding my finger there, and it was on the bottom left of the screen, sometimes flickering as if i was swiping the screen, though i'm not doing anything. Could this have to do anything with me getting something on the screen, or the fact that the corner of the pc was bent and was pressing into the upper right corner of the screen? I don't really need or want to use the touchscreen, so if i can disable it, that would be excellent, but it would be even better if i could fix the problem so i could still use the touchscreen i can still use the mouse, but sometimes the nonexistent touchpad input interferes with the normal mouse input, so i would greatly appreciate any help for me to solve this problem. I tried looking for where the touchscreen drivers for the ideapad were, so i could update them, but i'm not sure where to find them.thanks, david

Hey guys, just bought a new Lenovo IdeaPad U530. I was pretty happy until I check the built in "HD Webcam". The quality has absolutely nothing to do with HD, I think I would have a better quality recording with a potato! Since it came with Windows 8.1 I had to download the gorgeous "Lenovo Settings App" (seriously?!?!?) because it was not preinstalled (!!!), so I had to sign up for a hotmail account... - I was promised by the description that I could modify the Webcam settings with it. Yeah... well, even Skype offered me more options than this app! One (and probably the most important) thing I was not able to change was the video quality. I googled a lot and all I could find was a few people complaining about the video quality and some blogs claiming that it is possible to modify the quality with the lenovo Communications Utility from the ThinkVantage package. When I finally got it to run under Windows 8.1, all I could modify was the Microphone volume... I have the latest drivers installed, I have tried everything I could find on Google, but it either does not work on Windows 8.1 or doesn't work at all. Dear Lenovo, please tell me that this is some kind of compatibility issue or something, because I can't really believe that you would actually title this as an "HD Webcam". The quality is plain unacceptable, but my work requires a reliable, lightweight laptop (check) with a decent webcam (fail!), because that's what I bought it for.I've been using... Read more

Does anyone know if the Intel 7260HMW 802.11ac mPCI-e card is on the whitelist for the u530. Information on this isn't just scarce... it's nonexistent. I bought this laptop with the intention of upgrading the network card and had never heard of this "whitelist" thing before until I started actively researching the process. Anyway, my system has the 7260bgn 802.11n card. It's an okay card, but I'd like to be able to upgrade eventually. Hopefully Lenovo has tested the ac version of this card already and put it on the whitelist. Does anyone know?

Answer:IdeaPad u530 upgrade to 802.11ac

Even though the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 isn't on the whitelist, you can purchase the Lenovo version of the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC with the FRU P/N: 04W3814 Here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-wireless-AC-7260-7260HMW-wifi-bluetooth-4-0-adapter-Lenovo-04W3814-/19...You might have a better chance of getting that card to work. No need to waste time buying the generic 7260.HMW since it won't work.

Hello, I am looking to purchase the Lenovo IdeaPad U530. However, one of the requirements for me is the standard European ISO keyboard layout. I can see U530 keyboards with European layout are available to buy on Ebay, but I am not sure will they fit a U530 with US keyboard layout. If I buy U530 with a US keyboard, will I be able to separately buy an European layout keyboard and replace it? If not, how can I make sure to purchase an U530 with an European keyboard if I buy it from Lenovo online store?

Answer:Replace keyboard on IdeaPad U530

(It`s probably too late for you, but this may be useful to others.) (I don't work for Lenovo, I'm just a user.)The shape of the keyboard on these Ultrabooks is dependent on the shape of the housing, since each key has to poke through a hole in the housing. European (and Canadian) keyboards have keys that are shaped differently from U.S. keyboards (because there are 1 or 2 more keys than in the U.S.). So I doubt you can swap one for the other.

I recently bought the U530 with full HD touchscreen. I've noticed that the screen flickers when on battery, and it is especially noticeable in areas of the screen with dark colours. It's not a major flicker, but seems like ripples across the screen. Changing the screen refresh rate to 64Hz from 48Hz seems to make it better, but not completely.  Is this just a software issue or should I think about taking it in to get looked at?

Answer:Ideapad U530 screen flicker

Yup! I've been noticing the same issue on MY laptop too! I don't know why. It flickers very slightly if the screen is on its lower brightness levels. It slowly flickers brighter if the screen get bright (like if a Word document is open) and then it flickers darker on darker screens. I don't know how to fix it! I've already disabled the automatic brightness adjuster and still no results. Does anybody know a fix? or at least the cause? I'm sure it must be a driver of some sort seeing as there is no BIOS update.

I know that many people are having problems with broken hinges. My laptop is out of warranty and it seems I can't even talk with support unless I purchase premium support or it's just not apparent to me on how to speak with someone without premium. Anyway, through looking through this forum and online, it doesn't seem like support is a nightmare and I've heard of nightmare stories in which support has had laptops for extensive periods of time. My questions is, has anyone had their laptop hinge fixed/replaced succesfully by Lenovo? Just seems to me that going through tech support is not a really good option, especially if that support has to be paid for with no reasonably godd outcome. Thanks to nayone at all who replies.

Regarding the issue that you currently have , I would still suggest you calling the technical support team specially if there was no accidents or mishandling on users end. They would be able to provide you options.

Hello: I was using my U530 Touch and suddenly it shut off. It will not turn back on, either. I was browsing the internet at the time, not overworking it to my knowledge. I didn't spill anything on it, drop it, or do anything recently of which I'm aware that would cause some sort of effect. I didn't notice it overheating. The A/C adaptor was plugged in at the time, and now, the charging light for the battery is in fact the only thing that will function. I assume it's a hardware issue, given the complete lack of response, but if it's possible that there's some way to wake it up into a safe mode and address it from there, I'd be happy to try. Any ideas on what's happened here or any at-home fixes I can try? Thanks.

Hi,

I am not sure which board my Ideapad U530 Touch should go on......

I charged my Thinkpad last night and this morning when I unplugged it, it said battery was low. I was surprised as I had charged it overnight.  I plugged it in again, and the battery iccon shows this message: 99% available (plugged in, not charging). I have been searching for ways to resolve this but haven't found anything appropriate for my model.

The laptop was manufactured 7/9/2014.
Model: Lenovo Ideapad U530 Touch.
Windows 8.1.

I have had it since September and have never seen this message (but possible that I hadn't noticed).
Since purchase I do notice that the battery definitely does not last the 6-8 hours as the specs say.

Appreciate any help on the battery not charging!
Thanks.

I just had to chime in here.  I just spent the last 5 days fighting this with a Lenovo U530 Ultrabook Ideapad. I could not even get the machine to boot to a bootable Windows 10 USB stick or a bootable Windows PE USB that had some drive recovery software on it.  Although it would boot to the Lenovo Diagnostics that I downloaded from Lenovo on a USB stick and it would also boot to Tails (Linux distro) on a USB stick. I know the machine was crashing because when it would get stuck, I would try to push the Caps Lock on and off and the light didn't change.  During boot kept pushing the Caps Lock it would toggle then freeze after a few seconds. I took the hard drive out and put it in another Lenovo U530 I had at my disposal and it worked fine so I know that the hard drive was working.  The hard drive seemed to be in  some state of a patial update to Windows 10 so that probably caused the initial problem. I was trying to figure out how to flash the BIOS since I though maybe it had been corrupted somehow but wasn't figuring out how to get that done without being in Windows.  The BIOS flash from Lenovo seemed to be dependent on some .NET framework.  Anyway I ran across a video where a guy explained that he had a Lenovo that was acting similar so he opened it up and unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and it fixed it. I was skeptical but figured I hadn't anything to lose and voila it worked.... unbeivable... Here... I have a refurbished u530 that I purchased a few weeks ago. I noticed that when the computer goes to sleep (with the lid open) it emmits a faint constant ticking noise. It seems like it's coming from the section just left of the trackpad. It doesn't sounds like the standard clicking of a bad hard drive, and it stops the second I wake it up. But sure enough once it goes back to sleep, I hear the sound. Any ideas?

Answer:Ideapad u530 faint constant ticking

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

In your model, just to the left of the Touch Pad is where the hard drive is located.  What I would do is let it go to sleep and then carefully pick up the laptop.  On the back cover, put your ear to it and listen.  Knowing someone that has a stethoscope is even better.  If the sound is the loudest where the hard drive is located you can assume that is the source of the noise.  If it is the hard drive, for some reason the laptop is polling the drive when the drive should be turned off.  You might re-check all your power saving options to see they are set correctly or consider using Hibernate instead of sleep mode for power saving.

Hi all, I purchased my U530 Touch laptop in January of 2015, then about a year later I had the infamous "broken hinge" issue that a lot of these laptops seem to suffer from. I sent it in to Lenovo and had it fixed though, and haven't had any other issue with it until now. The problem I am now experiencing is a very noticable flickering that moves from the bottom to the top of the screen. Changing the refresh rate only seems to change the rate at which the flickering moves. I noticed that the glossy black portion of the hinge seemed to have a slighly loose feel, and saw the screen flickering issue go away when I pressed into the hinge in the right place. You can feel and hear the plastic moving when pressing into the hinge. If you fiddle with it enough you can get it to a state where the screen doesn't flicker, but it's not an ideal solution. If the laptop gets even slightly bumped or moved, the flickering will come back. Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

hi ShariD,

Welcome to the Forums.

The initial setup shouldn't take more than 2hrs unless it's downloading some updates on a low pace. If this still continues for the next couple of hours, consider doing a hard shutdown and press the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit from factory settings and observe (skip the Windows Updates for later).

After building or repairing/upgrading 70 or so desktops, I've run into problems cloning the hybrid hard drive in my year old IdeaPad U530 to a new SSD. Nor can I create a backup image which I could restore to the SSD. Lenovo phone tech support is absolutely clueless and incredibly disinterested in providing any help. I intend to upgrade to Windows 10 after getting the SSD in place. (I've done 4 upgrades to Windows 10 on desktop computers so far and they've all been very smooth sailing.) The problem:First, the U530 uses a 1 TB Western Digital hybrid drive divided into two disks. Disk 0 is the 14.91 GB cache. Since I am trying to clone to a 1 TB SSD, I presume there is no need for me to copy this "Disk 0". (Operating system is fully updated Windows 8.1.) Disk 1 is divided into 8 partitions:*: WINRE_DRV - 1000 MB, 313.5 MB free*: System_DRV - 260 MB, 32.57 MB free*: LRS_ESP - 1000 MB, 501.05 MB free*:                   - yep, the name is blank, 128 MB, 0 freeC:Windows8_OS - 180.67 GB, 57.68 GB freeData_D Drive - 708.62 GB - 261.35 freeE:Lenevo - 25 GB, 3.39 GB free*RB_DRV - 14.89 GB, 12.52 free I have used Acronic True Image Home, AOEMI Backupper Standard, and O&ODisk Image9 to no avail. With desktops I've built, I've been able to easily either clone a disk or restore a backup image to a disk. No problems. These have all been configued as a C and D drive like I've done wi... Reply from Lenovo Support for my caseWe have received your case that is tied to machine with serial # QBXXXXXXXX. We are currently showing that machine went out of warranty on 7/4/2015. Due to the extreme length since it went out of warranty. At this time Lenovo is not able to offer a free repair on this machine. If we were maybe a few months after it went out of warranty we might have been able to assist. But due to the fact that we are now 11 months out of warranty and we can't cover a machine for such an extended period of time. There has to be a definite end to the warranty. At this time Lenovo will not take any further action on this case. My Response to above messageThank you for your response and looking into this issue at your earliest. Please refer to link here which has listed this issue as widespread issue for Ideapad U530 model and has offered to repair the laptop. Moreover this issue has been widespread issue on your other laptop models as well like U310, U310 touch and U410, U410 touch. This shows that there is design flaw in all of these laptops. Since this is design flaw at company end it will manifest sometime or other. In my case it has happened late since I have been using this laptop with more care comparative to other users who are having same issue earlier in the life of laptop. It is not expected of world class company like Lenovo to keep manufacturing such defective laptop.I have other Lenovo T430 purchased after 3 months of this laptop and it does... Read more

I?m sorry to hear that your U530 Laptop touch screen is not working as expected even after performing ?System Restore? in the computer, I suggest re-installing display driver from our Support Website and check if the issue persists and while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select ?Run as administrator? option to get it installed without any error. Hello everyone, Before the end of 2013 I bought an Ideapad U530 Touch for school and it's been working fine up until a fews days ago when the backlight for the left most CTRL key stopped working and shut off completely. Every other key on the board is fine, except for this one. Is there any easy to fix to this problem, or do I need to send the entire computer back? Thank you, Invoked

Answer:Ideapad U530 Touch - Backlight Issues

Good day and welcome to the community.

Looking at pages 61 and 62 of your Hardware Maintenance Manual:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_u530touch_hmm.pdf the keyboard is integral to the upper base cover and is listed as a non-CRU (customer replaceable unit) part. In addition, replacing it appears to be a complete tear-down and rebuild of the machine.

Best advice is to call Service (contact info below), since I'd assume you're still under warranty.

Hope this helps.
Regards.

Some of the keys on my U530 get stuck in the "up" position, I have to press firmly to type the corresponding letter (and then I often get the letter twice). (No, I haven't spilled any liquids on it.) (Anyway, it's out of warranty.) Where could I get a replacement keyboard? I'm Canadian. Caveat: it's a French Canadian keyboard layout, so a U.S. keyboard will not fit. (Explanation: Non-U.S. keyboards typically have 1 or 2 more keys than U.S. keyboards, and in a U530 the shape and number of keys has to match exactly because each key has its "hole" in the laptop housing.)

Answer:Sticky keys on Ideapad U530 Touch

I would suggest calling Lenovo support. If you are under warranty, they should cover it for free, but if not, I believe they can sell you one. You can also source one from eBay, but they might be fake and less quality from Lenovo direct. Here's Lenovo's support address: http://support.lenovo.com

As posted on page 3 of this discussion, a solution has been offered to customers within warranty whose laptops display hinge mount failures and have not otherwise been damaged. This information can be found here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/IdeaPad-U530-Touch-Hinge-struck/m-p/203...

Answer:Re: IdeaPad U530 Touch Hinge struck.

Any updates on the U530 Touch? I am having the same problems as everyone else in these threads 1- a broken hinge and cracked screen. I now have a desktop with no touch screen rather than a laptop with a touch screen, 2 - a lack of response from Lenovo (never got my call within 3 days) and 3 - No local tech will touch it.

Hello,I just bought Lenovo IdeaPad U530 and it's little bit louder as I imagine. It looks like a fan. I don't know if its normal or not. And the temperature under the display (close ti the fan) is quite hot. I only installed two apps and didnt use any. So what if I use some more complex app? It will be terrible. Thanks

I got this laptop about a month & 1/2 ago.  Its been working fine and I installed the latest Windows 8.1 updates yesterday but today the Ideapad won't shut off.  It says Shutting down.... and the screen goes back but the power button stays on.  Is there anything I can do to fix this?  I ran checkdisk at the dos prompt and I thought that helped.

I want to be able to use the thouchpad while simultaneously using the keyboard, i.e be able to play games properly. If I am hitting a key I can no longer move the mouse. I cant figure out how to change that. Already spent around an hour searching the internet for a solution but none seem to have it for windows 8.1. Bummer. Anyone have any ideas? I've already gone to pc settings and turned the touchpad to the no delay setting and I've gone into the mouse settings under the control panel and turned palm tracking to minimum. All were suggestions I've found online but none have solved the issue. I just want to play Portal 2.... By the way the driver software for my touchpad is apparently called Elan, if that helps any. Thanks.

The hinge on my laptop broke, and it cracked the screen.  Now the cracks are effecting the touch screen.  Is there is a way to turn the touch capabilities off until I can get the screen fixed? Thanks!

Answer:Can the touch screen be turned off for a u530 ideapad?

hi comp_user

Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.

Yes, the touchscreen can be disabled.

Try these steps:
1. Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter (this should open the Device Manager).
2. In the Device Manager, expand Human Interface Devices section and right click > disable all the HID-compliant device touch screen entry (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
    - Link to image

When finished, try to use the touchscreen functionality and observe (you can reboot to verify it's disabled).

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

I have been searching high and low for a solution to solve the fact that the drivers for the Elan touchpad on the U530, while working perfectly in every other way, will not perform any action I set for the two finger tap function. I have discovered this is a prevalent problem with synaptics/elan touchpads and windows 8.1. Surely such a problem is a fairly easy registry hack for those who know. Can anyone help??? And please Lenovo tech; if your solution is to go back to windows 8, you can keep that one to yourself. I am looking for a tech savvy person who can solve the issue with windows 8.1. Thanks for any help.

Answer:Ideapad U530 Touchpad - Two Finger Tap not working

Hi Tsfine,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with touchpad not working in your Lenovo U430 laptop.

As you have mentioned that the two finger tap is not working in your laptop, try to uninstall the driver and restart the system and check for the issue.

Also try to reinstall the touchpad driver and check for the issue.

Click here for the driver for windows 8.1.

If the issue still persists after the driver update then it might be issues with the operating system try to perform a clean reinstall the operating system and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

I recently purchased an IdeaPad U530.  Around the same time, I purchased a NetGear Nighthawk AC 1900 Dual Ban (R7000) router.  All of my other devices connect no problem to the 5ghz wifi network from the router.  I realized the 5ghz band didn't show up on my U530, but the 2.4 ghz network appears.   I did some investigation and found my new Lenovo laptop has a 7260 b/g/n card.  I thought, "That will be a simple fix, I will just replace it with an AC card."  Then I read: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/IdeaPad-u530-upgrade-to-802-11ac/td-p/13106...   andhttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/General-Discussion/WWAN-and-wireless-card-BIOS-whitelists-Lenovo-COME-O... That was when I "unhappily" learned about Lenovo's "whitelists" for the first time.  I'm shocked that in 2014 I simply can't replace the wifi card in a laptop.  Had I learned about this sooner, the Lenovo would have gone back to BestBuy on principle. I'm a basic user and I don't have the technical skill or time to deal with flashing BIOS, etc. . . so I have three questions. 1.  Will the Lenovo U530 allow me to use one of the 802.11ac USB adapters? 2.  Any recommendations on which USB adapter to use? 3.  Do I have to deactivate the Intel 7260 card before using the USB adapter?  If so, how do I do that? Thanks!

Answer:Will a 802.11ac USB adapter work on IdeaPad U530?

1.  Will the Lenovo U530 allow me to use one of the 802.11ac USB adapters?IMHO why not? I use a usb dual wifi adapter myself although it's only a,b,g,n. It is more efficient than the built-in card. 2.  Any recommendations on which USB adapter to use?Try going to Netgear's site and look for an AC dual band usb adapter to match your Netgear AC router. 3.  Do I have to deactivate the Intel 7260 card before using the USB adapter?  If so, how do I do that?To avoid getting the system confused and make the setup of the usb adapter easier I think you can disable wifi in the bios. You will still have bluetooth functioning.

Hello, I've owned my U530 Ideapad for about 7 months now, and the audio jack has all of a sudden stopped working. The out-loud speakers are working fine, but it no longer recognizes any device into the headphone jack. At first I couldn't get any sound to come out of my headphones, so I reinstalled my audio driver. After doing this, there was sound coming out of both the headphones and the main speakers simultaneously, but the headphone jack was still not recognizing devices and the audio coming through is very rough and low quality (and oddly enough, it only transferred certain sounds, others would not come through). Does this sound like a mechanical issue that I should go get checked out, or is there a way I can fix this myself? Thanks much.

Answer:U530 Ideapad Touch Audio Jack unresponsive

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

First, try clearing the CMOS to see if that will resolve the problem as the clearing process can help correct hardware issues.  To clear the CMOS, just do this....
1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 3. Plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.
If the clearing didn't correct the problem then I would suggest that you uninstall the audio driver, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy of the audio driver.

If the driver installation didn't resolve the problem then I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for additional warranty service as the problem maybe with the board for the headphone jack.

I purchased an IdeaPad U530 touch a few weeks ago and have found the webcam image is terrible.  I am not talking a little dark or a little grainy, I am talking absolutely terrible.  Very blotchy.  It almost looks like it is below 640x480, way below.   Lighting doesn't help.  The computer has Windows 8.1 and there are no settings that I can find anywhere to make any adjustments to the camera image.  They took out the advanced settings in W8.1 camera so I am stuck.   Are there any settings that I can do to fix this?  As it is, the camera is unusable because the image is so bad.  I have looked online high and low to find a solution and I can't find any way to fix it other than buying a USB camera and ignoring the webcam that I paid for when I bought the computer.

Answer:Ideapad U530 camera has terrible image quality

I also have a U530 touch with windows 8.1 and the camera is very grainy running the standard camera app.  I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling the camera driver but no change.  I did notice however that the smaller cam preview in skype seems fine and sharp.   Pictures taken with the camera app in windows is grainy but the picture size is 1280x720.  So it is taking pictures as the proper resolution but the quality is unacceptable.
