Question: My Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch keeps saying "plugged in and not charging". Please Help

My computer used to charge but all of a sudden it just stoped. Sometimes at first it say that it is plugged in and charging but that changes to plugged in and not charging after a few minutes. Also it does not charge when i have it plugged in over night to charge it. Then when I try to use it without it being plugged in, it turns off after about a minute because it has no battery. Please Help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Friends, I have a Lenovo Idea Pad U430 Touch (WIN 8.1 64 bit) and the touch screen seem to be having an issue. I had spoken to the Lenovo Support 4 times and spent more than 10 hours on this issue so far. The bubbles appear at the top of my laptop and the mouse pointer goes haywire. This occurs when I start my laptop, for a few minutes and also intermittent - does not happen every time I start. One support person asked me to do a factory reset and I refused as I would be losing the entire set-up and have to spend more than 10 hours restoring it back. I wanted to escalate the problem and yesterday another support person has given an idea to isolate the issue by disabling the touch screen as mentioned in this thread. I just did a Google search and looks like this is a manufacturing issue based on the posts in this thread.Contents from the thread I found in the web:  So I've uploaded this video to document the problem I'm having with my Lenovo Idea pad Z400 touch screen. Every so often, the screen would just go berserk. The video show the left hand side of my laptop with all those circles popping up as if someone if touching the screen. Well, no one is touching the screen ... the laptop is doing it all by itself. And when I try to log out, I couldn't because the mouse functions have been affected ... have to shut down the laptop by pressing the power button. Very frustrating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znItnUW8feQ&list=UUbaNFySaNij9lqkST4SdeQQ&index=3... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch Screen Issue

I just would like to make the following suggestion in support of the recommendation to factory reset the unit: 1. Run OKR backup and do a user backup. Save it to folder in another drive to be sure. 2. Do the restore through OKR and select restore to initial backup. This will restore to factory default. 3. If your problem does not exist anymore then it could mean something is going on. And you can start deciding to whether to reinstall those third party programs or not. However, if the problem still exist run OKR restore but this time choose user backup and point to where you save the backup. This should put back the unit to the present condition with all your third party programs and files intact.

This started happening yesterday with my laptop. When I plug in the AC adaptor, it provides power to my laptop but doesn't charge it. My laptop battery is at 0% so whenever I unplug the adaptor, it dies instantly. Anyone know if this is a dead battery or another issue?

I restarted my computer this morning and it installed an update. When it rebooted, it said there was a problem and began a diagnosing/repair loop. It came up with several options, including restarting the computer (which I did multiple times) and resetting/repairing startup. Nothing worked and it just kept looping back to the original screen. I do not want to reset my entire computer and I do not remember when (or if) I ever saved a backup copy. I just purchased this computer in February and I desperately need it for school. Please let me know what I can do!

Answer:Repair Loop after Update, Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch

hi Shreenith,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Turning on the Computer and wait till you see any sign of Windows loading, this kicks in right after the Lenovo Screen.
Hold the Power button down to force shutdown the system.

Repeat this step until you get a Recovery environment.
You could get this Screen and access the System Restore.
If that did not help you can go for Refresh PC

Let me know your findings
Cheers!

Hello, I noticed this afternoon that the battery indicator in the system tray was at less than full and the status message reads "95% - Plugged in, not charging." This was not the case previously, and I haven't changed any battery or system settings that would affect this. I've only owned the computer for about a month or two and I'm concerned that there may be a problem with the battery. I looked up this issue online and attempted to uninstall and reinstall the driver that affects battery control in System Settings, but there was no change to this behaviour. Is there a way to test if the battery is damaged? What other problems could I be having that would produce this effect?

Hello!I write here with a problem that I have since the day before yesterday. When my Laptop is on and the charger is plugged in, the battery won't charge, giving the notification "plugged in, not charging". Laptop works like the charger wasn't plugged - energy drains from battery.I suppose that is a software problem, because when laptop is turned off or hibernated it charges normally.Formating didn't help at all.Microsoft support told me to recalibrate battery - didn't work.Lenovo support told me to try another charger in service - I will try if nothing else works.Maybe someone had the problem like that and solved it without going to service, which I want to keep as a last resort solution. Thanks in advance!

Hi AhmedMagdyy,Have checked in Lenovo Settings app if Conservation Mode is enabled. Conversation mode is under the battery icon of the app. If enabled, kindly disable the feature. Conservation mode helps extend the battery life of the tablet/laptop by limiting the max charge the battery can hold. Hope this helps.Cheers,

So I bought this laptop 3 days ago. It seems like it has a charging problem. It sometimes charges when I let the laptop in sleep mode or close the lid. I sometimes get a full charge but then, when I'm using it, it just stops charging for no reason. To "force charge" it, I discovered that if I first unplug the charger from the laptop itself, then disconnect the cable from the power brick, plug it back in the laptop and connect the brick back again, it seems to charge for around 4 more minutes. I tried updateing the BIOS with the support from the official Lenovo support site (this one) but it does not work. I heard about the removing the battery and pressing the power button but I can't remove the battery.  The power brick and charger are original and seem to work fine. Should I try buying another charger? Please resond to this as I'm desperate. Thanks much !

Hi Mina,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

1)  Shut down the computer.
2)  With the battery in (but AC adapter removed), attempt to turn on the computer by holding down the power button for 30 sec. This should not turn on the computer.
3)  Remove the battery.
4)  Again, attempt to turn on the computer (AC adapter not plugged in) by holding down the power button for 30 sec.  This should not turn on the computer either.
5)  Replace battery, plug in the AC adapter, and turn on the computer.  The battery should begin charging.

I hope the above information helps.

My lenovo s10 netbook, with windows 7 and XP isn't charging anymore. I thought it was because XP is no longer supported or something, but I upgraded to Windows 7 and it still doesn't work. There's an orange light on, and when I move the battery around it turns blinking blue, I thought that meant it was charging, but in Windows 7 it says no battery detected and it's not holding any charge. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!!

Remove the Battery and AC charger,

Hi, I had the problem where the battery didn't charge at all even if it was connected in the right way and the charger was plugged in. So I started to search internet for possible solutions. Those I found where to 1) disable alt uninstall ac and acpi adapter in Windows Device Manager. Restart computer.. Not charging problem is related to some Windows issue. 2) Choose the alternative "maximum battery life" in Lenovo Energy management.. Neither worked after several and time consuming tries... The problem here is Lenovos "smart" Energy management system that prevents the computer from charging the battery to "save it".. Solution: Uninstall Energy Management (Publisher: Lenovo) under Program and Features in Windows Control Panel and the problem is solved.. And don't reinstall this program again....

Welcome to Lenovo forums.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system plugged In not charging message in your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.

This might be due to energy management  so pls do check that under the battery menu in LEM, IT IS SET TO 'MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE' to enable charging to 100%, not Optimised battery health as this will allow your battery to have a longer lifespan.

Also try to reinstall the energy management driver and check for the issue.

Hi, I have a lenovo ideapad u410, it is about 2 years old now, and I've been having charging problems. This started last year, where my laptop would be plugged in and down on the battery icon it would say that it's "plugged in, not charging." The battery would deplete completely, and when I try to charge it, the light would just blink. This eventually went away after about a month, I didn't do anything, and I could use my laptop again. However now it's back, at first I thought it was my charger, but I removed my battery and plugged it in and I can use my laptop without the battery. I tried to replace the battery, but it still did not charge. When I plug it in with a battery in the laptop, it will only blink a few times then stop entirely. Do I need to download any battery management drivers? I don't know what the problem is.

Answer:Lenovo ideapad u410 plugged in, not charging, battery depleted

I have my U410 Touch for 10 months now.  It always charged to 100 % but starting a couple days ago it only charged up to 90% and stoppped.  I called Technical support as I am still within warranty, they told me to perform the  the battery gauge, but it did not work.  Then they asked me to reinstall the battery driver and the energy management software but it is still not working not charging to 100%.  They now suggest to me to do one key recovey to reset to the factory setting to see if it works.  If not, they said I can send back the computer for service.  I am not sure if I should do the one key recovery becaue I will loose all my files and etc.  I am skeptical if this will work?  Any suggestion?  Should I just tell them I will send back the computer to Lenovo to fix the problem but then I will not have the computer for at least two weeks. ....

I am traveling in Italy for work and my laptop won't charge(!). When I hover over the battery icon in my tray, it says "plugged in, not charging." I thought it was the adapter for Italian plugs, so I borrowed a friend's adapter. My computer charged! Up to 60%. Then stopped. Now I plug it in and it is back to saying that it is "Plugged in, not charging."  The adapters work fine for charging my other electronics. The adapter is factory original and is 100-240 V - 1.8A 50-60Hz  Any ideas? I'm desperate.

Answer:"Plugged in, not charging." U430 Problem seems to be with international adapter.

Dear Shannon Welcome to Lenovo forums There is a software provided from Lenovo called Energy management that controls the battery charging modes Basically there is two modes. The first mode allows the battery to charge up to 60% only while the charger is connected this modes helps to perverse the battery life the second mode will let the battery o charge till 100 % and will keep charging if the battery dropped less than that the program is supposed to be preloaded onto your machine if it is not, please inform me about the OS that you have and i will give you the download link The program will be most likely like the image below make sure to be on maximum battery lifeThanks

Hello, I have an interesting problem with my u430 Touch.  Recently I needed access to the boot menu, and I found that when I use the Novo button with an ethernet cable plugged in it will hang after a variable (but small) amount of time.   I tested this multiple times and found it only hangs when ethernet is plugged in.  Can someone else try this with their u430 Touch and see if they get the same results?  Perhaps this is a bug in the Novo menu. - Jon

Answer:U430 Touch Screen not working on Ideapad

hi graceella,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Ideally, the OS automatically identifies if you have unit with a Touchscreen or not. To check, look under Control Panel (large icon view) > System (see images below).

Non-Touchscreen:
- Link to picture
- Link to picture

Touchscreen:
- Link to picture

If the machine is showing No Pen and Touch Input:
1. The OS is not identifying the screen as Touch capable. To isolate, perform a System Recovery (via the OneKey Recovery button) to check if the issue is on the OS level (ensure you backup important files first).

If the machine is showing Limited Touch Support:
1. Recalibrate or Reset the touchscreen
2. Reconfigure the Touchscreen

If same problem,
3.  Press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
4. On the device manager, navigate to Human Interface Devices and uninstall anything that says HID-compliant device. When finished, reboot the system and observe.
5. After the reboot, press Windows key? +R, type mspaint and press Enter. On mspaint, try to touch the screen and observe if the touchscreen capability is working.

If the above steps doesn't resolve the issue, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the problem (or the place of purchase if it's still possible to exchange the unit).

Hi, my friend has a Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch. It just recently shut down spontaneously and now when she presses the power button all that happens is the power light turns on and blinks, the screen doesn't even turn on. We tried unplugging the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds and pressing it a couple times after. We even tried removing and re-inserting the RAM card (carefully and correctly mind you), since a faulty RAM connection could cause problems with the screen turning on, only to no avail. It should also be noted that she just recently upgraded to Windows 10. Is there any way to get it to start up on our own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Ideapad U430 Touch Startup Problems

As you have mentioned you have removed RAM, when the RAM was removed did you hear any beep sound?.

Also you have mentioned that when you power on the system only light turn on and blinks, can you hear windows login sound?

I have an IdeaPad U430 laptop and have been having a problem for the past two months. Sometimes when the laptop goes to sleep it will turn off instead and will not turn on for about 5-10 minutes. This can happen when the laptop goes to sleep in different ways: closing the lid, selecting sleep from the start page, or when the computer has been idle for a few minutes. There does not seem to be any problems once the computer starts again, but any programs that had been open are now closed. I have tried updating drivers but the problem persists. I am running Windows 8.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have had my Ideapad for about 3 months and today, the right speaker stoped working altogether. I have checked the balance settings and they are equal for both speakers. Also, i pluged in headphones and sounds come out of both sides. What should I do?

Answer:Ideapad U430 Touch Right Speaker not working

hi tuck2103,

Im sorry to hear what happened,
This seemed to be a hardware concern,
If the system is still under warranty I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Support for assistance.
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/feedback/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76613

As an alternative you can check this Maintenance Manual for your system and check the internals like the Speaker Connector to the motherboard.
(Just a note that physical damage during the process is not covered under Base Warranty)

It looks like it's not socketed on the U430 touch, so you can't upgrade it:http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_u330pu330touchu430pu430touch_hmm.pdfYou could try using ThrottleStop to coax more performance out of it though.

Hi there, I'd like to make (or get) a backup for the Bios (7CCN26WW). Apparently Lenovo doesn't publish updates for the bios on the support page of the U430. What is up with that? On every single laptop I owned in the past I could download the bios on the support page....  If anybody knows how to do that please give me a hand. Thanks!

Answer:Ideapad U430 Touch BIOS Backup

Hi SpidrJeru,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that the BIOS update is not available for the computer, the reason is BIOS update will only be released to fix any issue which is continuously occurred. Hence this indicates BIOS update is not required for the computer.

Do post us back for further queries

It recognizes and connects with new neworks but it disconnects from my wifi every few minutes, forcing me manually reconnet it. The wifi works on every other device in my home so I know it's not my internet. I've updated the wireless driver and played with the router settings to no avail. I've done most of the things suggested in older posts but I still can't get the wifi to stay connected to my laptop. The laptop is brand-new, just opened today. Thanks.

Answer:IdeaPad U430 Touch having connection problems

Lenovo drivers are old and buggy. Intel has since resolved these issues. Simply update the drivers from intel and that should solve all wifi/bluetooth/video issues: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect There is also a BIOS update that fixes an issue with "Fix LAN SSID/SVID is wrong for S3 resume" Carefoul with this update as after the update it will throw an error and you might think the laptop is bricked. You have to get in the bios, change the bios type from UEFI to legacy, reboot then reboot again, get in the bios and revert to UEFI. I'd also suggest selecting the option to back up the previous bios version, while you're there.

I recently purchased the U430 Touch and like many of the features, though I was surprised to find that the key placement is different for a few keys.  Interestingly, the "End" key is above the "PgUp" and "PgDn" keys.  This may seem like a small issue, but I'm so used to clicking certain keys that this slight difference in placement frequently causes unintended outcomes and slows down my work. I've seen postings to swap the Fn keys, but couldn't find anything about remapping a few keys.  Is it possible to remap a few of the keys AND physically change the keys to reflect the remapping (to be in line with "traditional" laptop keyboards)? Thanks for any help and consideration.

Answer:Remap Ideapad U430 Touch Keyboard

hi na_lenovo_user

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

This Article will help on remapping keys on the Keyboard
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/map-any-key-to-any-key-on-windows-xp-vista/
This should work on Windows 8

About physically changing the keys, I'm not too sure about it as the keys may brake if you pop a key up.

Hope this helps

It looks like is soldering with the base. I don't know if I need to disassembly all the computer because I have been working with others laptops and is easy to replace it. I read the manual but i don't find any explanation about how do it. I hope someone wants to help.

I just recently got a Lenovo Ideapad U430, and I already don't like Windows 8, which came with it. I went to install Win7 x64 Professional today. I did what I usually do whenever I reinstall Windows: I downloaded the ISO from the Microsoft website, I burned it to a usb drive using the official Microsoft tool, and went into BIOS to boot from the flash drive. However, I am unsure about how to go about actually installing it. I ran into some trouble with the partitions, but was able to shrink the Windows 8 partition and create a new 210.9GB one for win7. Unfortunately, when I went to install 7, it said that the partition could not be used since its apparently a GPT styled partition. My dad tried formatting it and some other things, but it never worked. When he looked online, all he could find was issues regarding the USB drive not being UEFI or something; it was confusing. My main question is whether or not its fully safe to Windows 7 on this machine. That's the main reason wanted to keep Windows 8 on there, in case 7 didn't work. So... would it be ok to fully format the harddrive and install Windows 7 clean on it? I'm mainly concerned about driver compatability and whether or not messing with the partitions will mess up the laptop in some way.

Answer:Installing Windows 7 on Ideapad U430 Touch

I'm not sure about your partition issue as I'm running 8.1 but you can use the generic Intel drivers for Windows 8.x or Windows 7, depending on the OS version you're running. You can find them here:http://intel.com/p/en_US/support/detectLenovo drivers are old and have bugs that have since been fixed by Intel.

Hello, My laptop keeps turning itself on.  If it is NOT plugged in, it reboots itself immediately after shutting down (10 seconds).  If I leave it plugged in, it reboots itself overnight, or if I unplug the charger (while it is turned off). It is not related to any wake timers (disabled), I even completely reset my computer and wiped all my files - no luck, still occurs.  I tried downloading a new BIOS but it failed to install.  I tried updating other drivers, but most of mine are newer than what is available for download on the support site. I ran a system scan and there were no corrupt files, no viruses or malware detected (McAfee, Windows Safety Scanner, and Webroot). I think this is a firmware issue.  I disabled AOAC, and still had the issue.  Could it be a hardware issue?  My PlLenovo is about 7 months old. Please help!  I'm out of troubleshooting ideas.

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery in your Lenovo U430 laptop.

Try to change the battery setting  to conservation mode in the energy management. To enable the conservation mode go to energy manager which is located in task bar battery icon. Click on the icon then the energy manager tab is opened go the setting and select the conservation mode turn on the switch.

By enabling the conservation mode the battery will be charged only upto 60% -70% and stops. This method can extend the battery life.

Not sure if I should be posting in the IdeaPad forum or Windows 8.1. Have IdeaPad U430 Touch with Windows 8 preinstalled. Trying to install the 13 drivers that appear on the Drivers and Software download page in preparation for upgrading to Windows 8.1. All seemed to install okay except for wl07wb.exe (WLAN) and bt09wb.exe (Bluetooth). After installing the updates, according to Device Manager neither driver was updated. I bought a new IdeaPad U430 Touch from Best Buy. It had Windows 8.1 on it. After I set it up and updated Windows components I tried to connect it to an ActionTec ScreenBeam Pro Wireless Display Adapter. I was able to successfully pair the adapter to the laptop but it failed to connect. Only after I disabled McAfee LiveSafe, it started to work. The LiveSafe firewall filters need to be changed to make this work.

Hello,I am having a problem with my Lenovo U430. Unfortunately for me, despite the notebook is still under factory warranty, I don´t have an official Lenovo Service in my country. So I´ll have to manage myself with this issue. The U430 starts up in a normal way but the screen won´t work. I plug it to my LED tv with an HDMI cable, and the computer works fine, the problem is in the display. I am wondering what could the problem be, I read something about the video chip or something like that, could be failing on the motherboard. Is there anything that I can do to realise what the problem really is??? I prefer to resolve it miself rather to let anyone open up the computer and make the thing worse than they already are.I am sorry if my english isn´t the best, I think that I manage to explain myself just fine.THANKS

Answer:Lenovo U430 Touch Display Issue

Hi alemano ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If the laptop is showing display using your external TV then most likely the graphic card would be performing well since external projection of display is an advanced feature .

The problem may be the LCD or LCD cables that you can try to unplug and replug checking if there are impinged cable along the way and in the port.

Herewith is the hardware manual that can help you on the disassembly of top , bottom cover and LCD panel.
The user guide here and service training video would also be a good reference.

Take time to review the steps .
Hope this helps you in your steps.

I was using my laptop this morning, closed the lid, and went on to use the wifi from my phone (my wifi is weird in that I can only have one device connected at a time. I don't think this is relevant, but who knows?)When I went back to my laptop and opened the lid, it didn't start up from hybernation. I noticed that the battery light was blinking orange, so I plugged it in. Now the battery light comes on as white (which means charging but not critical battery life.)But when I push the power button, nothing at all happens. The power button usually glows when it's powering up, but now it doesn't do that. Nothing at all happens, except for the glowing white light aignifying charging when it's plugged in.Also, I notice that when it is plugged in, and when I press and hold the power for some time (10-20 seconds) the charging light will stop glowing for a bit. But beyond that, nothing happens: no fans, no sounds, nothing. This is one of the worst times for this to happen, since I have so much to do on my computer. Thanks in advance for reading this, and thank you for any help you can give.

Dear all,I recently bought a Lenovo u430 touch with an i7-4500U Haswell and windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 now supports encryption (previously only Windows Pro via Bitlocker), however, the computer needs to support InstantGo / Connected Standby (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/features/385846/windows-8-1-top-10-advanced-features/3). Since I have a Haswell chip, my new lenovo should support this, but it does not appear to do so, since the encryption feature does not appear in my system settings. I've understood this might be firmware related. Alternative options for encryption would be Truecrypt, but it's been described to be problematic with Windows 8.1, and getting Pro, but it's expensive. Does anyone know:- if Lenovo is planning to release firmware updates for this computer so that the InstantGo feature and encryption can be used?- Does anyone have any other tips for getting encryption? thanks,Floris

hi guys, i was wondering if anybody's experienced something like this before.my mom's Lenovo U350 laptop is pretty new, she bought it only like a month ago. The battery isn't charging for it though. It just saids on the icon "plugged in, but not charging" the battery's already at 0% so it's only running off the AC cable now.the laptop was bought in HK and doesn't have international warrenty. so it's not like i can just send it back. so if anybody has any clue as to what i'm missing here, i'd appreciate any advice i can get. Thanks

Answer:ideapad U350 "plugged in but not charging"

I'm having the same exact problem with my Y550, the battery is stuck at 82% and says plugged in, but not charging... I just got this like 3 days ago too, and was accidentally sent a vista and waiting for a windows 7 version to be sent to me.  In any case, if I unplug the laptop it wont even run on battery, it just shuts down, and I cant turn it on with the battery.  Is there any solution to this because this is literally driving me nuts...

Hi,

I am not sure which board my Ideapad U530 Touch should go on......

I charged my Thinkpad last night and this morning when I unplugged it, it said battery was low. I was surprised as I had charged it overnight.  I plugged it in again, and the battery iccon shows this message: 99% available (plugged in, not charging). I have been searching for ways to resolve this but haven't found anything appropriate for my model.

The laptop was manufactured 7/9/2014.
Model: Lenovo Ideapad U530 Touch.
Windows 8.1.

I have had it since September and have never seen this message (but possible that I hadn't noticed).
Since purchase I do notice that the battery definitely does not last the 6-8 hours as the specs say.

Appreciate any help on the battery not charging!
Thanks.

I often encounter this, but here is the real headache. I have googled a fix for this, but unfortunately it will only work if the battery is removable, which case not for the Ideapad 310-15ikb. Always have to revert back using Acronis. Any other possible solutions for this?

My laptop suddenly stopped charging since yesterday. It is hovering around the 5-7% range since yesterday and continues to say that it is charging, when in actuality it is not. I have tried to reset the laptop, as well as uninstall and install the ACPI drivers, but nothing seems to work. It has only been a month since I got this laptop.  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Z500 touch battery issue plugged in not charging

hi lebanese,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you're following this article on how to fix the battery charging issue for the Z500 Touch but a "No battery attached" error appears, try to turn the computer off and hold the power button for 20secs. When done, boot back into Windows and check if the battery is now detected.

If same "No battery attached" error appears then I'm afraid this firmware update won't work as the battery or the connection of the battery to the motherboard might be defective (the battery needs to be connected for the firmware update to work).

- Link to picture

I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

I've been running Windows 10 flawlessly for the past month or so.  All of a sudden my battery would stop at 90% (I had this problem in Win 8.1 and several battery guage resets worked). I tried running the reset from energy management but it would just run forever and never finish.  I tried running down the battery manually and letting the computer sit for several hours.  After plugging it in it would climb to about 60% and then say plugged in not charging.  It's very erratic now and will often not charge, and when it does it doesn't go past 60%.I've tried uninstalling energy management completely with no luck.  I've reinstalled it and run the guage reset with no luck.  It will now finish (as opposed to running forever) but I can't get the battery past 60%. How do I fix this?  Running the guage reset actually made the problem much worse and I haven't been able to get it fully charged or even to 90% since...

For the past week or so when I have my computer plugged in always remains "plugged in, not charging", but keeps maintains life when plugged in. The lenovo power settings give feedback that the battery is in good condition and that the adapter is recognized. I already checked the lenovo conservation setting which is off, but I am not quite for sure how else to troubleshoot the issue.

I have an IdeaPad 500.  The A/C charger is "plugged in" and the icon says it is "charging" but there is no charge to the battery, which is now at 53% (it was 55% yesterday).   I have gone to the forum and done what they suggest (e.g. turned off the Conservation Mode).  Unlike most questions on the forum, my system says "charging" rather than "not charging".  And because it is an IdeaPad, I cannot remove the battery (at least not without opening up the case).  I am a bit worried this is a hardware/battery failure -- but I hope this forum might give me a software fix

Thanks in advance

Hello,  I have a two year old Ideapad Flex 14 which is having some battery issues. Specifically, the battery light is flashing red, and when I plug in my laptop, the status says ?plugged in, not charging.? When plugged in, it stays at roughly the same battery level, though it has been gradually losing battery despite being plugged in over the last few days (this has been going on for five days or so now).  It is at 5% battery now, and I?m not sure what to do to make it charge. I?ve tried taking out the battery and putting it back multiple times, but am not really sure what else to try ? I?m out of the country until December, so I haven?t been able to find a repair place to get it fixed yet...  Any suggestions how to fix this?? Annie

Answer:lenovo u430 ideapad windows 8 cannot boot - unbootable amount of volume

Hi indi467 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Unmountable Boot Volume may be a problem with windows boot or the harddrive itself.

If the advance repair option would not work , you would need a Windows Repair Media/ Windows Recovery CD to boot from .  If you have not created a repair image previously , a Rescue Disc or any windows repair disc will do.

Then choose Trouble Shoot  > Advanced Options > Command Prompt  and then type chkdsk /r
else proceed with other boot repair options.            CMD> bootrec /scanos            CMD> bootrec /rebuildbcd            CMD> bootrec /fixmbr            CMD> bootrec /fixboot

The factory recovery image is embeded on a hidden partition of the harddrive.
It should not be affected by any Windows corruption not unless that the harddrive sectors are physically damaged.
It would delete everything on the harddrive and refresh it with a new copy just like from out of the box.

To try it , just turn off the machine . Use the Novo button (page 66) to turn on .
Novo menu would offer BIOS set up ( to reset defaults) or proceed with System Recovery from initial back up .
If System Recovery fails or would... Read more

Pretty much what it says in the title.  I have recently been needing to use my Notebook for extended periods of time, and I had found that, despite the laptop reconizing that the charging cord is in, it fails to charge while in use and only charges when the computer is hibernating or when then laptop shuts down. I've taken a look at the battery settings, including Conservation Mode which seems to cause this type of problem, but I've had little to no luck fixing to problem. I would really appreciate if someone could give me some advice on how to fix the issue, as it is getting in the way of my work having to use it for only an hour, then have it charge for an hour.

This is in response to the problem everyone is having with the battery not charging when plugged in. I found this in the guide for my idea pad Z400. It should help many of you to finally make peace with your battery Battery (B):      Battery Mode (B-1):  By using the battery maintenance function, it is possible to extend the battery lifespan. Before you use this function, read the precaution. Energy Management 8.0 can automatically track your habit of battery use, and then provide suggestions on selecting a battery maintenance mode for extending the battery lifespan. Two battery modes are provided: Maximum Battery Life and Optimized Battery Health.       Maximum Battery Life: In this mode, the battery has the most powerful charging capacity. Note that this mode cannot optimize the battery circle lifespan.       Optimized Battery Health: In this mode, the battery limits charging to 60% of its full capacity. This can reduce the battery degradation and extend the battery lifespan.

Hello, I have a 3 yr old Ideapad Z510(that came with Win8)which worked absolutely fine until recently. If I plug in the charger when the laptop is on, it abruptly turns off and would never boot again until I remove the charger. However, this is not how it behaves every time. There are some rare instances where I could still operate the machine with charger plugged in.  When turned off, battery is charging and also goes to full 100%. When turned on(battery mode) it does not drain rapidly - I could still get a fairly decent stand up time. So I am assuming the battery is good. I don't see any thermal issues either. Things I tried:-------------- > Tried with a different charger - no help.> Updated the firmware - no help.> Update the entire driver pack - no help.> Applied windows patches, reinstalled and also upgraded windows to Win 10 - no help.> Reseated the battery and associated cables - no help.  I am not sure if there is anything that I could do to at least diagonize the problem before I give it to the service station. Any pointers on this is much appreciated   Thanks much in advance.
