I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,Your laptop came with Windows 8.1 64 bit from factory.https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04556587Have you created HP Recovery USB using HP Recovery Manager after first setup of this notebook?I see that your current installed OS is Windows 10, so have you upgraded and activated to Windows 10 successfully? If you've upgraded Windows, HP recovery partition might have got corrupted - this is the reason for the message "unable to reset".Now, please perform extensive hard drive and memory tests from System Diagnostics UEFI by tapping F2 or ESC key as soon as you power on laptop. Hello all, I have a Lenovo Ideapad P400 and am using Windows 8.1.  64-bit.    I have 2 seperate issues, any advice on either would be greatly appreciated. 1.  I just ran Lenovo Solution Center Hardware Scan comprehensive and came back with Result Code: WWF00F000-HL9X7G.  Local Connection Test is what had the Warning.  The only other factor I could attribute to this warning code is in my Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", my USB xHCI Host Controller has a yellow "!" next to it and if I hit properties it says "The Device Cannot Start" (Code 10)  .... (Operation Failed)  The requested operation was unsuccessful.   Can you tell me how to fix the warning code recieved from LSC or how I can fix the driver issue on the USB xHCI?    Also I cannot for the life of me figure out how to re-enable my Touchscreen on the laptop.  It just turned off weeks ago and I have not been able to get it turned back on. Any ideas? Thanks a ton, Ch

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad P400 Touch Screen and Error Code

Hi Bob,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Firstly, this controller enables USB over wireless as part of the Intel (WiDi) Wireless Display function. The yellow bank (or warning) just started occurring in early 2013.

The wireless display portion of the WiDi driver would still continue to work even with the yellow bang.

Lenovo Support Site has the Intel WiDi driver for the IdeaPad P400 which addressed the yellow exclamation mark issue.

Lastly, to enable the touchscreen follow below steps:

Solution 1 -

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. ...
Enter Calibrate in the search box, and then tap or click Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input to open Tablet PC Settings.
Tap or click Setup, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Your PC ran into Problem and it needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you.
If you'd like to know more you can search online later for this error. 0xc000021a

After it automatically restart it says

After multiple tries, the operating system on your pc failed to start, so it needs to be repaired
Error code: 0xc0000001
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have an installation media (like a disc or USB devices), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Whats should I do I encounter this problem about 3 hours ago help me please!!!
Thank you!!

Answer:HELP!!! Error Code 0xc0000001 and 0xc000021a!!!

What machine type and operating system do you have?
Is there any text with the error.
Try the following:
- Boot to Safe Mode, if that works, then it is a problem with non-essential startup drivers, services, or startup programs.
- If no go, try Last Known Good Configuration, then run a malware and rootkit scans.

I bought my yoga 2 13 in November 2014. It has worked well till last week. Now it freezes for 10-20 seconds on the simplest click to another window. I got an error xode 0xc00021a. I rebooted and it seems to be working but occasionally it freezes. I noticed my SSD space was low at 16GB so I deleted files and got it back to 32GB but the freezing still continues. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Rajesh

Hi rajeshprasad1 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Error 0xc000021a  may be a system file error on base check but may also hide underlying issue  like bad sectors or drive. On other scenarios , this error can cause system not to boot to Windows .

Best that you take time to back up everything that is important or if that would be hard, try to get data recovery tech / center to slave the harddrive for the back up if possible and have then run a harddrive diagnostics at the same time.

Would it work ok on safe mode?
Would you be able to run individual Storage test using this link .

Update us how it goes .

Where do I even start?
A client of mine came to me with their HP desktop and were saying it could not boot and restore points were not even working. I thought I would have this worked out in no time. I was wrong.

Here is the details for everything:
- Error code is 0X000021a and I can only see it when I, attempt to, boot into Safe Mode (Which all Safe Mode options do not work.)
- Normal booting into the OS results in a mainly blue screen with thin lines and streaks cutting through the screen and nothing is distinguishable.
- I tried System Restore and there is nothing there to access, says Windows.
In this next section, I run commands from the Command Prompt in the Windows Troubleshooting section of the boot.
- SFC scans result in this now: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."
- Chkdsk: Regular Read-Only mode tells me "No further Action is required" and running the extended commands, such as /f /r, takes a huge amount of time and I only did that once. No dice.
- DISM commands seem like such a good idea but I can run only one of them and it does not help me in any way. Say I run "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth" it gives me "Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool. Version 10.0.14393.0.
Error: 50. DISM does not support servicing Windows PE with the /Online option."
And if I try any other DISM commands, more errors, like Error 2.
- System Repair does not work.

Download an ISO from this post (Win10PE with preinstalled software that could help troubleshooting) and in the file explorer search for dump files in C:\Windows\Minidump. Copy these files to a different storage device. Then upload the dumps via a working system after zipping the dumps (the site does not support the dump extension)

I just purchased the 1TB+8GB version of the Lenovo Y70 touch laptop from NewEgg.com on Black Friday, and less than a month later, I can't turn it on. I was using it earlier today, and it just shut off abruptly for new reason I can come up with. I did get it to turn back on, but then it shut off again without warning a few more times, and now I can't get it up and running again. One thing I noticed was that it seemed to shut off whenever I even lightly tapped the frame below the keyboard. The second time I turned it back on, I noticed it shut off when I rested my elbow on it. I tried to look around online and I can't find anyone having the same problem as me with this. I don't know if I get a defective model or what. I've never dropped it or smacked it into anything, so I have no idea what has happened.

Answer:Lenovo Y70 Touch Shut Off and Won't Turn Back On

Check your power adapter. Check that it is properly plugged in. Once done try again to test the unit.

Hi,I was hoping someone can point me in a direction to solve this problem. I bought a lenovo idea pad z400 touch two summers ago. Recently, it has been acting up. It refuses to power on when shut down but runs perfectly when it is not shutdown. The keyboard lights up and the fan starts up momentarily before it stops. Both the battery and the power button are lit up as well as the keyboard light. But it remains in this state and the bios refuses to boot up. I have not made any additional programming changes to the cpmputer. I have tried everything to fix this problem that was proposed on past posts and the internet like resetting the battery and holding the power button, using the one recovery key, etc. The weird thing is that after a day or two, it usually starts up after you press the power button. Of course, during this time it is completely shut down, since the motherboard gets really hot and I'm afraid it would cause damage to the components. this started within the last few months, and now its been 3 days and it still refuses to boot up even the lenovo screen. Thank You

Answer:Lenovo B50-70 hardware scan shows this error code - Result code: WWF00F008-HK0X2L

Hi MacKapu ,

Welcome to Lenovo Community.

The error code does match possible issue with the Wifi  based on code Windows: Wifi:00F(test)008(result)

Such code thou would be best interpreted by Lenovo tech support team using their tool and your Serial number.

It would be best to give them a call for the code 008 (WWF00F008-HK0X2L) result and likewise would be able to advise how to proceed just in case that the WLAN card itself have hardware issue based on the test.

Especially if you have already tried uninstalling and reinstaling drivers for the WLAN card , maximize performance by turning off power management WLAN property and setting to highest on roaming tendency  or even doing complete factory reset aka OKR (everything wiped out but restored to out of the box setting )  .

Hi, I could use some help with a recurring BSOD I have, running Windows 8.1.
I'm not sure what info is most helpful, but I have minidumps, etc.
I'm including the events for each of the three occurrences (2/9/15, 1/30/15, 1/20/15), including the bugcheck event and the last set of Administrative Events that appeared to have occurred leading up to the reboot (which never actually reboots but hangs on the new, pale, Windows 8 BSOD).
I have removed the WatchESPN and TouchMail (DaVincisGarageLLC) Metro apps from the system, although I suspect that their failures are just a downhill cascade from the rpcss.dll failure (the very first event listed each time).

I recently bought a refurbished thinkpad (T420 i5 2540, SSD, 8gb ram, NVidia nvs 4200) with windows 7 professional. It worked fine at first, I could turn it on without a problem. However, as soon as windows updates installed, and I rebooted it, it refused to turn on. The power and Bluetooth lights would come on, then shut off after a few seconds. I unplugged, removed the battery, and pressed the power button a few times then held it, but that didn't help. After several attempts it finally boots, but BSODs as soon as it gets to "windows is starting". If I leave it for a long time (several hours) and try again, it often starts up normally. This whole process has happened many, many times over the last 3 days, with little difference each time. Launching startup repair just BSODs and it goes back to not turning on at all. System restore doesn't work, and I tried formatting the hard drive and going for a fresh install. It booted normally at first, but as soon as windows updates kicked in, it started failing to boot again. I was able to get a single crash dump (which should be attached). The bug check was 0xc000021a, on ntoskrnl.exe, at address ntoskrnl+72a40. I've tested SSD, ram, processor, etc., but they don't have any issues. I've never really had to deal with repeated BSODs before, so I have no idea what's going on.

In this case, it would be the best to go for another clean reinstall.

Because, from the description it appears to be a driver issue, a driver is conflicting during startup; and at the time the BSOD occurs, it does not have sufficient information to record the failing module in the dump.

Perform a clean reinstall exactly as suggested here: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .... hopefully it will solve this issue.

Hi, I am getting a recurring BSOD. I have fairly recently installed a new, external drive and updated some drivers from the Gigabyte and Intel sites. The BSODs happen a few weeks apart, so trying to undo one driver update at a time, etc..., would take months/years to do. I realize I may have to fall back to that. However, I'd like to see if there are obvious signs from the minidumps or from anything else that could point to a specific driver or issue.

I've attached the BSOD zip file with the last 3 dumps, and I await further instructions.

Thanks in advance,

kghastie

So I let it go overnight and then when I woke up, there was the blue screen with the error code as mentioned above, from the file \Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. On the blue screen, I'm given three options - Press Enter to try again, Press F8 for Startup Settings, and Press ESC for UEFI Firmward Settings. When I press enter or try to use all the other startups from the F8 option, nothing happens and I just return to this screen. How can I go about fixing this?

Hi. I wonder if anyone can shed some light? We have a lenovo C540 all in one touch screen. Last week it decided to die! I had a random error message unfortunately I didn't get the error code but it said something along the lines of "your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" which it did. A few hours later, just browsing the internet my mouse just stopped functioning so I culdn't click anything to toggle between pages etc. Then within a few seconds there was a clicking/ ticking noise coming from the machine. I immediately turned the machine off, worried it was something electrical. I checked all my cables were in properly and tried to turn the machine back on. All I got was the clicking noise and a black screen. So, when hubby got home he had a look and realised the clicking was coming from the speakers. And looking inside could see there was a fair bit of dust build up on the baffles? A few internet searches suggested it could be the CPU had fried. We purchased a new CPU from Maplin. We couldn't get a like for like part but th guy found a compatible one. Hubby installed this and we now have the PC turning on with power and processor lights, the fan kicks in and the clicking noise has gone but we still have the black screen. I am not technically minded at all. And to be fair, hubby's knowledge is pretty basic too so before I have to shell out for specialist repairs, does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be? or experienced similar? Recently, I have noticed that I have been getting BSOD errors when shutting down the computer. Right before the computer is about to shut down, the screen fizzes out and the comp restarts. The BSOD does not appear to look like an ordinary one and there is no error code visible.

According to device manager, all of my drivers are installed.

My Specs:

Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
AMD XFX Radon 6870
4 GB G-Skill Ripjaw 1600 mhz
AMD FX 6100 Processor
Asus Xonar DG Soundcard
Belkin Wireless USB
Corsair TX 650 Watt
Asus M599XEVO

I also have not done any overclocking.
I will also try and get a picture of the blue screen when I next see it occur.

Thanks for any possible help!

Answer:BSODs when computer is about to shut down. No visible error code.

Hi all,my windows reboots by itself when you leave it for a while, and when on restarting i received a pop up saying that windows has recovered from an unexpected error. I saved the minidump file and all information needed for debugging, any help will be really appreciate it,the attachment includes the error, thanks.

Answer:Windows auto shut down by itself, error code Bccode :9f

The way you posed the question and included info is great! Have some rep

The direct cause of your crash is this driver:

Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\NETw5v32.sys
Image name: NETw5v32.sys
Timestamp: Tue Nov 18 02:40:18 2008 (49219062)

It seems unable to handle a power state transition and it's behaving as if the machine is in power state "X" when it's really in state "Y". It's possible that the underlying hardware (the wireless NIC in your Lenovo laptop?) is the real culprit, and its driver is merely the conduit for bad news, but it's more likely that the driver is buggy. Suggestions:

- Try updating that driver to the latest version, then test what happens when you leave the laptop to sit idle again (thus triggering power state transitions).

- If an update doesn't help, try removing the driver outright and testing once more. That's not a solution but at least you'll know for sure whether it happens with the driver gone.

- If all else fails, write a nastygram to Lenovo and then deactivate all power management (so the laptop sits in full power mode all the time) while waiting for them to fix their bug. Obviously, that would have negative consequences as far as your battery life is concerned.

I get the mj view error code at start up. I also cannot shut down my computer(i believe the 2 are related) I have to do it manually so I just hibernate. Information was given to me that it could be the ebates moneymaker program installed. I checked for that and do not have it but i do have i give shopping window . I am having more problems recently with my laptop crashing completely (no power to anything) while playing Flight Simulator X. This mostly occurs only when playing FSX but tonight i have noticed my machine getting super hot and shutting down unexpectantly. The Fans also begin to speed up prior to shutdown. I have set the computer to maximize performance, disable start up items, etc. After researching this It seems this may be more of a hardware issue than software. Please help. I have attached the requested info. Any help would be most appreciated.

It saids: Your pc needs to be repaired error code 0xc0000225
The operating system couldn't be loaded because the HAL is missing or contains errors.

I made a windows 10 usb but I don't know what my product key is.
I didn't back up anything, this isn't my primary computer so I am really not worried about losing anything I just want it working again.
It has a recovery partition but I can't get recovery options up.

Hello,
Recently my computer has been shutting down without warning. I could be doing anything from playing far cry 4 to browsing the web. I looked into the event viewer and found the following error: 0xc000000d. I've looked into it but it sounds like everyone else who has that same issue can't start their computer at all, but i can boot my computer just fine. My computer just shuts down randomly. i also found another error: %%-2147467259. I did a memory test and that came out with no issues. It's definetly not overheating as i'm getting temperatures of 21 celcius. Also, I'm not very familiar with the even viewer so i have no clue if i'm looking in the right place. I'm pretty sure i get the same order of events before it shuts down. Any help would be great!!

Hi,
I have been struggling with error 0xc000021a for a while now and can not find a way to fix the issue. I tried using sfc /scannow, but all I get is a message saying:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix someof them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Forexample C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently notsupported in offline servicing scenarios.

the sfcdetails is attached.

I also tried using dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth , but get Error: 3017 when at around 75% during the process.

dism log file is attached as well

I tried resetting my laptop, but get Error: There was a problem resetting your pc

The only way I have found to get past error 0xc000021a is to disable driver signature enforcement, but this is only a temporary solution. Every time I restart or reboot my pc it will give me the error which is really annoying. I have went through the repair my computer scans many times and every time it will say that it couldn't repair the pc. The hardware scans never find any issues as well.

So it all started last night when i accidentally tripped on my power cord, unplugging it from tthe tower during the login screen. At first, I thought nothing of it, and I just restarted the computer. But unfortunately I was met with the BSOD with that error code. All of the online solutions I have encountered that don't involve removing all my files or using a windows 8 installation disk I have tried.
So then after the BSOD I restart and get to a screen saying automatic repair failed. I try to refresh the PC- no luck. I'm definitely not resetting my PC and losing all my files so I go into advanced options. Foolishly I have no backup USB or anything so I try a system restore. Nothing happens, same old BSOD. Then I try the various command console solutions i found in the advanced settings command prompt. All of them don't work and give me a reply saying that the image was not found or "drwtsn32.exe" was not found in the image specified or whatever. It is always prefaced with "x:\windows\system32", not C:\. I cannot start in safe mode and disabling driver signature enforcement also didn't work. Any help before i just buy a windows 8 installation disk would be greatly appreciated.

I kept my computer on over night and I accidentally hit the print screen button. I have a special program called 'Greenshot' so it overlays the screen with a grid region selector and lets you drag and save. I didn't drag and save so I left it like that over night.

As soon as I woke the computer up it froze the entire screen nothing could be down. Also a message pop up about failed nvidia drivers. I decided to just force reset my computer since their was nothing I could do.

Boot it up and got all the way to the logo and loading screen. A few seconds after I BSOD with the error 0xc000021a.

Reset the computer and the auto repair screen came up. I won't let me reinstall windows w/ keeping personal files, safe mode doesn't help nor does the force drivers option, I have no idea if windows have "Boot from last known boot" or have it verity all system64 files like windows 7. Nothing work in the repair menu but the command prompt which is label X Drive instead of C drive by default.

I heard windows 10 likes to secretly update bios so I don't know it that could be the problem. Anyways I have had boot loops in the past where if I plug too many usb devices in the back IO panel the computer will just boot loop.

Hello,
I have installed Windows 8 Pro on my PC and on my Laptop. The problem is since yesterday the laptop ist showing the error 0XC000021A. It only writes that my PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. After a restart it just writes the system must be recovered and if I click on "Recover" it only shows the Win8 logo and nothing happens. I tried it several times and always get the same error.
The biggest Problem is I cant access the BIOS and change the boot device, so its not so easy to reinstall Windows. I always have to open the device and to format the hard disk on an other PC.
Is there any way to solve this problem without reinstalling Windows? I cant access the PC so all the other ways written in the internet don't work in my case.

By "dead" I mean it is not doing anything.
Hi. I started my Samsung laptop today to find the entitled error. No "help" I have come across has worked, especially on microbrain's website. It says it is collecting some "error info" and has not moved from 0% since it started nearly 25 minutes ago. As soon as I saw it I knew it was a fake non-error, not doing anything, and certainly not fixing anything.
Pressing F8 is ignored by this wonderful piece of nothing, and I can't make the drive work via a USB dock using another windose OS on another drive, either.
How can I fix it?
Thanks.

Answer:'0xc000021a' dead error

I'm on mobile so I can't see the edit button.
I don't have this installation disc and I can't make a boot USB disk, either, because I can't get into it st all. It keeps on either going to the Samsung splash screen with the rotating icon then not doing anything, yo the error/error info-"collecting" screen immediately where it reboots immediately and alleges to try again, or it mentions it is "preparing automatic repair", which I don't know why it's called that because it does NOTHING automatically/by default, and does NOT repair ANYTHING.

Alright so here I go... I get home from work and boot my PC, only to find it wasn't responding to anything and the clock dissappeared from the welcome screen. So, as most other people would, I hard reset it as it would not respond to the power button.

However, I seem to have created a problem for myself... I'm now stuck in a bootloop in which the PC refuses to fix itself. I start it... I get error 0xc000021a in a bsod and it reboots to try and repair, in which that fails. I have tried a 2 separate system restores, both 28th and 23rd of January, to no avail.

Sorry that I cannot create any dump of any kind, as I can't even access any part of my PC.

I've tried other methods such as the DISM command, only to get some error stating that I'm supposed to use an /online command. Eh?
I've tried booting into safe mode, only to get the exact same error.
I cannot refresh or reboot as I do not have access to a disk or flash drive at this point (my kid sister snapped my disc in a fit of rage, irrelevant but worth noting.)

I can't even chkdsk because it says something about the HDD being locked?

For future reference, this is a custom built PC so there's no telling what I did.

Ok, I clicked 'update and restart' while turning off my Surface RT, and instead of booting my OS, Windows collecte 'some error information' and restarted to a BitLocker error screen asking me for my recovery key. So, I went on the microsoft website with my phone and found the recovery key, typed it in and tapped 'Continue', but it eventually says 'Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC'. I tap 'Advanced options' and then 'Continue:Exit and continue to Windows RT'', but I just end up at the original BitLocker error screen. If I go to 'Troubleshoot' and try 'Refresh your PC', it says 'the drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again. I tap 'Cancel' (the only option) and try 'Advanced options' then 'Automatic Repair', I get the same error screen as before, so I tap 'Startup Settings' and then 'Restart'. Eventually, I get a BitLocker screen that says ''you must enter your recovery key to access Startup Settings: to protect the privacy of your data, BitLocker has prevented the unlocking of your drive. You'll need to enter the recovery key.' Then there's nothing but some text at the bottom telling me to 'press enter or the windows key'. The problem here is that when I press enter or the Windows key, nothing happens. It just stays on that screen for a minute or so, and then ... Read more

hi ismailisamu,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try this method:
1. Take note of your Windows 8 Pro product key (if you have purchased this online, check your email).
2. Follow Option 1 of this guide and use a USB Flasdrive to create a Windows 8 installer.

How to Create or Download a Windows 8 Upgrade ISO
3. When done, insert the flashdrive on the lenovo computer and from here, you can attempt a system restore, a repair install, or a clean install on your Windows 8 machine (see guide below)

Note:
If you have important files, you can open a command prompt to backup your data (see this guide)

Yesterday I successfully installed Windows 10 as per Microsoft instructions only to find today an error message stating “Error 0xc000021a Terminate yes or no”. I clicked yes thinking this was the correct course of action, but unfortunately, I have not been able to connect to Windows since.
When starting my PC a message appears stating there has been a problem and will restart in a few moments. An automatic repair screen appears followed by a screen asking “Choose your keyboard layout”. This screen is frozen and I’m unable to use the mouse or touchscreen. I can proceed no further.
My PC affected is an HP Touch smart 310

This morning, I needed to check my emails so tried booting up my laptop only for the BSOD saying "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info and then we will restart for you." I allow it to reach 100% but whenever it starts to restart my laptop just freezes. No matter how many times I boot my computer this always seem to happen which is why I am unable to follow the BSOD posting instructions. Is there anyway I can fix this as I need certain data that is on my hard drive?

I went to use my computer this afternoon and it locked up and now I get "error 0X000021A" I have been unable to get it to boot into safe mode or anything else. It has an SSD and I have the original HD which I installed and the computer will boot to that. However it has windows 8 as the operating system. I had done the upgrades to 8.1 and 10 but they are not on the HD? Is there any way to get the windows 10 loaded again? If not, I will continue to get by with Windows 8. I can't get the log information because it won't boot up.

Hi

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and it was working fine for a few days but now whenever I try to boot it up I get BSOD with error code 0xc000021a.

I've tried the following 'fixes':

System restore --- Runs for a few minutes and then says "Could not restore your computer. No changes were made"

Clicking on any of the advanced startup options --- BSOD

Reinstalling windows 10 with a usb --- Results in it going into circles with this messagea "The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation medial and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. [Do not select iCustom [advanced]I to perform an upgrade. iCustom [advanced]I installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings.)"

I've taken the usb out and restarted the computer several times, even called Microsoft Technical Support. They had no idea what to do.

I used to be able to access the command prompt and I tried everything suggested in this article here https://neosmart.net/wiki/0xc000021a/. The reason I say "used to" is because things recently got alot worse when I changed the boot order and now it just turns black after the bios screen. Help!

I reboot my PC last week as the computer seemed not responding and I ended up like this:

First, it was a black screen with 'autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK

Then, the blue screen appeared, revealing the error code 0xc000021a

The computer automatically restarted and directed me to the automatic repair screen. Choosing restart will cause the PC to repeat the error again.

I tried the method stated in http://appuals.com/best-fix-steps-fix-error-0xc000021a/ but it does not work.

I downloaded GTA V from steam on the day before the PC crashed and I ran it. This was the only program I download recently before the PC crash

Please Help.

Hello all, Im new here an need some help. I am trying to fix a friends Dell Dimension 8300. It was filled with tons of viruses. I got most of them, but after a restart I keep getting the BSOD error 0xC000021A followed by Cx0000034. I can't boot into any of the options when I press F8. I still get the message regardless. His CD drive doesn't work, so I cant boot from a disk. I removed the HD and put it in an enclosure and hooked it up to my computer to try and diagnose the problem from my computer. Is there anyone that can help me Can I replace files on his HD from my Windows XP Home Edition SP2 that will make it work again?? (He is running XP home SP2). I have not added any hardware or Ram. Just Windows live onecare to remove the viruses. Thanks in advance for whoever replies!

And yes, I have search all the knowledge bases and this forum and nothing has worked so far.

Answer:BSOD 0xC000021A Fatal Error

For anyone who has or will have the same problem. Here is what I did.

I opened up the tower for the Dell 8300 and took out the HD and the CD drive. (the CD drive didnt have the right drivers and can't find them, but it ran).

I plugged the IDE cable (master) into the CD drive and power cable.

Then I plugged the Slave end of the IDE cable into the HD.

Under settings (F2) I changed all the settings to "Auto" under the drive configuration settings. And changed the boot order to boot from the CD drive.

Then I inserted the Win XP CD into the drive, and rebooted.

Then I pressed "R" after the Win XP CD loaded all the files. The "R" is the repair Win XP installation. Everything loaded onto the HD without any data loss! The computer finally boots up now. Now I just have to put it back together LOL.

Using Windows 8.1 digital purchase, no CD.

This classic error just started happening yesterday. Had no problem with the pc in the morning, came home late and when I tried to turn it on it didnt got pass the error screen. All I remeber doing in the morning is an adobe flash update which I did not install, just dowloaded to install later. Then nothing else, I was using firefox and did nothing else.

Tried almost everything to solve it.
Every cmd command that is around.
Sfc scannow
Bcdedit into safe mode, with and without cmd, and bootmenu policy.

Pc just wont start in safe mode either.

Tried to restore to previous version, an error comes up saying it was not possible. Tried all three of the available dates.

Tried pressing F8 and starting safe mode from there and still no result.

None of the "repair" options work of course.

I can acsess the BIOS, on the gygabyte screen. Not sure what to chabge in there. Anyways, tried with "fast boot" and same error occurs.

The copy is a digital purchase, so no CD.

Any ideas? Appreciate it

Answer:Error 0xc000021A PC wont boot

Do you have any dump files under C:\Windows\Minidump ? If so, please copy them from that directory and upload them here. You should be able to copy them via command line if that's all you can access (if you're not sure how to do this, let me know and I can help) - either that, or you can burn a Linux LiveCD (such as Ubuntu or Mint), boot off of it, and use a GUI environment to copy them to an external storage device.

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...=vs.85%29.aspx
Try Last Known Good Config boot option.

When you ran SFC, did it find anything? Usually it will only repair stuff if you have a disc in the drive for it to reference.

Have you tried running a disk check? At the command prompt:
chkdsk c: /f /r

I recently brought a lenovo laptop through amazon and when I was updating my new laptop to windows 10, the error code 0xc000000d appears. I researched the error code and found that I am to reinstall windows 10 in order to reboot the device, either through a usb or a disc. However, how do I reinstall the windows 10 onto a disc or a usb?  Additionally, is it the laptop's fault or is just windows 10 update that has caused this problem? If its the laptop's fault, then I will probably return the laptop. Thank you in advance

I recognize that I need to reinstall Windows 8 onto my computer, but the laptop that I received did not come with the installation disc that is required. Is there any way to find my Windows 8 Product Key Code so I can download the software to a USB and proceed from there? Thanks in advance!

Answer:Lenovo Y580 Error Code: 0xc0000034

hi seantsaito,

Try these softwares to find out your Windows 8 Product Key (needs to be run inside Windows)
- Belarc Advisor
- Product key Viewer
- PkeyUI

in addition, if you need to restore the Y580 that came preloaded with Windows 8, you just need to press the OneKey Recovery button (you won't need the product key as the OS will automatically find it and activate Windows).

As this is my first post, I did look for similar issues, but didn't find one.

I am by no means a computer expert, but have grown up around them, and have used them actively for the majority of my life, so I have a fair familiarity with them.

I recently completed my first PC build, and everything worked flawlessly. Windows 10 installed and ran fine, all my hardware was recognized without issue, and everything updated automatically upon startup. My goal was a strictly game-centric build, no overclocking or anything.

I come home today, and realize that my PC goes into the windows auto repair immediately, prompting me with an 0xc000021a error. My motherboard debug LCD was prompting me with b2 (short) 99 (short) a2 (long) my manual is very vague about it, but from what I have gleaned, it has to do with my peripherals, so I unplugged mouse and keyboard (supposedly 99 represents one or the other), no luck.

I initially tried to do a system reset, and it got to about 20% (both with and without saving personal files) and said that the process could not be completed, so I resorted to safe mode.I tried booting the computer in safe mode just to try to make some progress, and then upon rebooting to enter safe mode, it froze. I let it sit for several minutes before I manually reset the computer. Now it cycles between black screen, and MSI logo back and forth. I can enter BIOS, if I time it right. I can't get it to bring up the windows advanced options screen (to do system... Read more

I have a g75vw Asus laptop which for the most part has worked fine. Late June the computer simply wouldn't boot into windows giving the error 0xc000021a next to the " " icon. This computer was originally using windows 7 but I upgraded soon after windows 8 was released in October. For about a week before the crashing, I had been using a ubuntu 12.04 live boot jump drive for learning python. It was after a linux boot that the computer crashed but I do not think the events are related. I had also installed connectify.me, a program that turns a laptops wi-fi adapter into a router which worked well for about a week before the crash. I have gone through all of the generic hoops including safe mode(s) system recovery using a usb flash drive, refresh, and the existent yet worthless self diagnosing tool. Microsoft was unable to help without a 100 dollar fee.

Answer:Windows 8 doesn't boot. Error 0xc000021a

0xc000021a error usually means some issue with crucial system files, which could be actually caused by some bad hardware as well. I'd start with checking hard drive... Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic28744.html/page__view__findpost__p__160520Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable. For Toshiba hard drives, see here: http://storage.toshiba.com/storage-services-support/warranty-support/software-utilities#diagnosticNote : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps here

Hello again!

I'm fixing a computer for a friend of mine. The computer at issue is running Windows XP, and suffers from the apparently not-so-uncommon STOP: 0XC000021a error with WINLOGON.exe. The computer was infected with a virus that caused the problem, NOT a hardware or new software installation.

I've spent hours researching a solution to the problem with no avail. Most guides reccommend reverting to the "Last Known Good Configuration". I tried this first, and it didn't work. He also has no Windows restore points to use.

The second common solution is to use a Windows XP CD to do a repair installation. As luck would have it, he doesn't have his Windows XP CD. I don't have one, either, since I've been using Vista for a while.

I've definitely isolated the problem to WINLOGON.exe, using DrWatson. I CAN boot the computer into Safe Mode, but I cannot boot it normally. The restart and BSOD occur roughly 1-2 minutes after the XP login screen appears.

Any tips or ideas?

Answer:Virus caused STOP: 0XC000021a error in XP

I'd also like to note that I've used AVG anti-virus and Spybot on the computer in Safe Mode, as well as Malware Bytes. I believe that the initial virus is gone, but I can't be sure until the problem is fully resolved.

What I have tried:
- Boot to safe mode, disable driver signature
- Bootable USB -> "sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=g:\windows" returns "Microsoft Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation"
- Registry replaced with backups

The SSD seems 'healthy'. Screenshot. CHKDSK passed but "failed to transfer log messages status 50". Are there logs I can locate manually on the troublesome drive and upload?

Any help would be appreciated, let me know if I can provide more information.

What is the K partition?

How much free space does each partition have? Not enough can cause quite some issues, at least 10-15% free space is recommended.

Asus S200E notebook, Win 8 Pro, UEFI.
I recently took in this laptop for my neighbor. The original idea was to scan and clean up the system. I set the laptop up in my office, ran an MSE full scan with no issues. Then ran a full Malwarebytes scan, which returned a few pups, which were removed.
After tending to other matters, I turned back to the laptop to find notification that there was a problem and windows had to restart. I ran another MWB scan only to have the system restart again. This time, the system tried to repair itself with automatic repair. No go. All reboots ended up back at the advanced startup options screen. No ability to restore the system image, no system restore. All I could get to was the cmd prompt.
Googling turned up all sorts of people with this issue (mostly older posts), but very few solutions. This fix got my system booted again by removing pending update operations.
Apparently, an MS update is the source of the problem. To further reinforce this, until I turned off automatic updating, it would happen again. I also disconnected the machine from my network to revoke its internet access.
So the machine is no longer having start issues, but I'm not sure which update it is. I have 17 pending optional updates, but those haven't installed, so I doubt they're an issue.
I checked update history and there are 29 failed updates. All are dated within the period that the laptop has been in my possession.
I think it would be quit tedious to hide each one individual... Read more

Microsoft pulled some botched updates after people got BSOD's. Specifically

KB 2982791, KB 2970228, KB 2975719, and KB 2975331

Just in case it helps, here's a list of the failed updates. Again, using DISM to remove pending updates got me back into windows. Turning off Auto Update prevented reoccurrences:

Hi All..

I was reviewing my windows updates and saw two optional updates that were pending. First one was for MS office and it went through fine. Second one was some update to AMD vision control center. During that update screen flashed couple of times and went for re-start. After that I am unable to get into the system. I tried safe mode/debugging/low resolution mode etc.. But all resulted in the same blue screen with the 0xc000021a error message.

I am able to go only to command prompt. Nothing else (fortunately I am able to backup my photos by connecting external hard drive and using command prompt). I checked the SRT log file but it doesn't say any issue. All passed.

I tried refresh PC but it came back and said "There was a problem refreshing your PC. No changes made".

I tried using win ISO image bootable flash drive. It couldn't get through me in (I just tried with PC repair option when I booted with ISO image).

Is there a way I can get over it without re-installing?

Thanks in advance...

Krishnan V

Answer:Windows 8.1 - Error 0XC000021A after optional updates

try.....
STEP 1: Enter cmd
STEP 2: Now in the Command prompt just type System Root\System32\Drwtsn32.exe -I?. This process will register the Dr.Watson as the default system debugger which has to be -> Press Enter.
STEP 3: Again type System Root\System32\Drwtsn32.exe and then in the window choose the option which are Append to existing log file, Create crash dump and Visual Notification.
STEP 4: After setting it up restart the computer by pressing F8 in the startup and select Last known good configuration.
STEP 5: Once it got booted up, again restart the system in the normal and now try to look at your optional updates to make sure not to install whatever may have broken it before.

If this does not work then you may have to reinstall.

Hi

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and it was working fine for a few days but now I get BSOD with error code 0xc000021a everytime I boot it. I've tried the following 'fixes':

System restore --- Runs for a few minutes and then says "Could not restore your computer. No changes were made"

Clicking on any of the advanced startup options --- BSOD

Reinstalling windows 10 with a usb --- Results in it going into circles with this message "The computer started using the Windows installation media.

I've tried to restore to default and I also tried everything suggested in this article 3 Ways to Reset Your BIOS - wikiHow

Nothing works. Please help.

My first post.   I own a 3000 N200 laptop which has recently started having a problem. On start up it gets as far as the lenovo screen and then the screen goes blank.  If I connect to an external monitor it gets as far as the windows start up screen and then crashes with a blue screen which has the following message:- ***STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005,0X83C51030,0X8EB7296C,0X00000000) Occasionally it will start up normally and run for a short time before the screen goes blank (no blue screen or error message). I can start the laptop in safe mode using an external monitor but the screen has vertical lines down it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have a Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 running Windows 8.1. When I attempted to update the operating system to Windows 10, there was an error (I'm not sure what exactly the error was, or what caused it, as I was not monitoring it at the time) and now the tablet will not boot to any operating system. When I turn it on it says: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart." Then, it restarts, and loads a page that says: "Recovery // Your PC couldn't start properly. // A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. // Error code: 0xc0000225 // You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer."

I have done some research and it appears that I will need to create a USB recovery drive, but I am not confident in exactly how to do that in a way that will work on my tablet. I am not partial to any particular operating system (between Windows 8.1 and 10), I just need a functioning tablet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hello guys, so i recently have a problem with my lenovo y410p. This problem started when I updated my laptop to windows 10. I just recognized it when I want to play skyrim, and it was very lag in ultra setting, which I could play in ultra setting without a single fps drop from 60 fps when still using windows 8. so, I decided to recover my system using system recovery, but the problem still there the list of 'solutions' that I have found in internet and done1. clean install using DDU program through safe mode, and install the latest driver on nvidia website2. booting up through xubunt (this is a weird problem, but someone had solved his problem with this)3. enable disable through device manager sometimes, when disabling and enabling, it can go back to normal, but when I restarted it, the problem came back the only probable solution that I haven't tried is updating my BIOSbut, when i tried updating my BIOS (using exe file that available in lenovo website), when the computer restart, "insydeh2o secure system - invalid firmware image" I've searched for this bios solution too, and some people manage to solved that by disabling secure boot, but i've tried and it solve nothing. so i don't know what to do anymore... please help..

I recently purchased, (when I mean recently it  is 1 1/2 month ago) and I get frustrated b/c of this error (1962). I just don't understand why brand new comp. is doing this.  When I purchased the desktop it was pre-loaded with OS Windows7 and I was told by lenovo sales rep. if I wanted to upgrade to Windows8 I needed to download it from the site.  Since I upgraded to Windows8, it was completed without a problem, or without any issue that I can see that would stop the process, I have seen this error twice.   I had to unplug it and it went away when I restarted, can you help me with this error?   Do I need to re-install Windows8 if I want to keep using it?  I need the desktop for school work on daily basis.  I'm willing to return the desktop and purchase some other brand if this can't be taken care of.    Thanks, your assistance in resolving this matter is appreciated.

Hi leno7 and welcome to the Community,

Here's some more information on that error.  Seeing as how it doesn't happen all the time, you might want to run some hard drive diagnostics and make sure that the drive is okay.
