Preferred Solution: S10-2 loud beeping noise

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: S10-2 loud beeping noise

hi sunstreaker,

Thank You for using Lenovo Community Forums!

I'm Thinking about stuck key or button on your system.
Can you try running Passmark Keyboard Test a key or button will show red on the image if it is being pressed or held down.

Try doing a BIOS Reset as well
Keep on hitting F2 when you turn it on,
Once inside BIOS, hit f9 to load default and f10 to save and exit

Best Regards

Hello everyone. I own a dell inspiron 9300 and I recently read that if i typed msconfig into the run tab on my computer and then disabled some of the items on there that it would run quicker. Well I did just that and then I tryed to switch it back and I can't. Now my internet connection won't work and it makes this extremely loud beeping noise for no reason. It's always been really slow and I thought I could speed it up. I only use it for going on the internet and for fixing my pictures. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Question: Loud Beeping Noise

I installed a 200gig hd in my comp, with my 80 gig thats already in there. Everything was good, windows loaded fine, but today my computer light started blinking on and off and my comp made a loud continuous beeping sound. Whats up? Its completely random, and it usually stops making that sound after 10-20 sec.

Answer:Loud Beeping Noise

First guess would be that your system is not getting enough love from your power supply.

Go here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/ and calculate how much your system needs, then open up your case and look at the sticker on your PSU to see how many watts it is putting out.

After sorting out one problem I now seem to have another with my HP G70 notebook. When I start up before it loads into vista the screen stays black and it makes a VERY LOUD beeping noise for about 2 minutes. This noise sounds like a counting beep, and then after this time it loads up and is as normal.Could this be a battery problem? (Am waiting for a new one to arrive).

Answer:on start up laptop is making a loud beeping noise

Can you note the actual sequence of beeps, they probably repeat themselves.Look here.click here

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad P580 bought in August 2012. Best Buy sent it back to serivce center to replace hard drive. When I got it back I had to call Lenovo to get new disks to reinstall windows. Tonight as I was reinstalling I began to get the loud beeping noise all the way through the installing of windows. The installation is complete but now when I reboot the computer I get another loud contiuous beeping noise after the Lenovo screen. The screen comes up starting windows but Windows does not load. Is this again another hard drive failure? My serial # **********and I just rebooted it again and got the screen to start in safe mode or start normally which I just did and got to the Windows 7 Home Premium screen. I am beginning to be real sorry I purchased Lenovo as I am back to using my old Dell laptop. Will I have to get another hard drive?

Hi everyone,
This morning when powering my laptop after it being on sleep mode it did 7 successive beeping noise in interval and did not boot, after a few try it finally booted without noise. I am concern that something may go wrong very soon what should I do?

Answer:Inspiron 7737 loud beeping noise when booting

Seven beeps is a processor or mainboard failure - since the CPU is a permanent part of the board, they're effectively the same thing on this model.  Try a system reset -- power off, unplug, remove or disconnect the battery, and remove and reinstall the memory modules and hard drive.  If the problem begins to re-occur, replace the mainboard/CPU.  This will be covered if the system is under warranty - if not, it's a major repair and will likely run a few hundred dollars.

I have a Dell desk top, windows Vista, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB external hard drive.I was working on the computer, no internet up. Only a Word Document up. I wanted to play a game I had installed on the computer over a year ago, Chuzzles.  I opened a folder I made for extra not often used games. I double clicked on the Chuzzles icon, but missed the icon. So I double clicked actually on it. It didn't open. I double clicked twice meaning 4 times, by accident again. The Chuzzles screen came up, it was the not full screen one, so I clicked the full screen option. The monitor then turned a blue and white fuzzy mess with 3 letters across the screen, one letter was "e" and the date 2010 came on the screen with it. Then my tower started making a loud whirring like an engine and there were 3 beeps that occurred over and over every 2 seconds. At my brother's instruction I tried to turn it off at the tower with the powen button, didn't go off. I unplugged the tower at the wall. Then I tried plugging it in again, then pressed the on button. The computer went right back into making the whirring noise and the 3 beeps over and over and nothing came up on my monitor, black screen. I was really concerned at this point. Couldn't turn the computer off with the power button so I unplugged it again.  I waited half an hour before doing the start up process again: Still the noise, beeping, and won't turn off, and nothing on the monitor. I unplugged the computer, w... Read more

Question: Loud Beeping

while my computer was booting up it started beeping really loud. then the mouse wouldnt work even though it was plugged in. i had to reboot then it worked fine. anyone know why this happened
thank you for your time

Answer:Loud Beeping

It sounds like you have a short in your mouse wire.

You can wiggle your wire while moving your mouse and see if it'll stop moving and (or) start beeping again.

If it happens to you again, then it's definitely your mouse that's gone bad.

I have an AMD XP 3200+ (barton 400mhz FSB), on a Gigabyte 7N-400 pro 2 mobo, with 1 gig of memory and 200 gigs of hd space. I also have a unique setup so that when I boot my computer I use two powersupplies to run my computer. Both of them are antec (350w and a 430w). I am running windows xp with sp2 and the updates, however I have one major problem. The computer will make a very loud beeping noise when I start running a lot of processor consuming programs and eventually it will even restart. Even if I am just runnning one program, for instance half life 2 it will start making a very loud beeping noise and then it will restart. I thought it was because I might be overheating, so I changed my old cpu fan, which was some thermaltake fan good for up to amd xp 3200 or higher and I replaced it with the OEM cpu fan for the AMD XP 3200. Still the same problem. I am starting to think that it is because of my video card which is a Leadtek WinFast A250 Ultra (ti 4600) is overheating, because it normally happens when I am playing computer games. One last comment: I am really skeptical that it is the processor overheating. I am not overclocking my computer. I also have 7 case fans running, so I would assume the case is rather cool. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a ton!

I bought a second hand Lenovo X200 and it works fine. But this is annoying me. Everytime I am typing like say, an article or a long email or something - i.e. a long text - the laptop would beep in the midst of my typing. And I have not been able to figure out what triggered it. I have tried typing with the AC adapter plugged in, typing without the AC adapter plugged in, and it's still doing the same old thing. (As I'm typing this post, it beeped again once in the midst of typing the last sentence) Anyone knows what could be causing it? I thought it may have something to do with part of my palm resting on or near the fingerprint software scanning device. So I disabled fingerprint scanning on my laptop. But still, it beeps. Argh!! It's quite unnerving especially when I prefer to do my work late at night and it keeps beeping like that every now and then with no discernible pattern or frequency to the beeping - I am worried it will wake my toddler up even though I work in the lounge and he sleeps in the bedroom. It is that loud. FYI it has beeped a total of 5 times now since I started typing this post...   Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you!

Answer:Loud beeping sound when I'm typing

You know what, its okay I think I found a solution for that. I went into BIOS mode at bootup and went to Config and disabled the Keyboard beeps. Says on there that keyboard beeps happen when impossible keyboard combinations are entered or something... so I guess either I was typing too fast or keep pressing keys I shouldn't be pressing when I'm typing my documents. Answer:Lenovo H535 Loud Beeping.

Unfortunately for your model there isn't any listing for the Beep Error Codes.  Even looking at the generic IBM / Lenovo code listing doesn't have your combinations.  Since the last thing you were doing was swapping the memory modules I would go back in and try reseating the modules again.  You might have to use just a little extra effort to fully seat them.  When fully seated the little catches on the side will automatically come up and latch in place.  Also with the modules removed from their sockets, check the sockets with the aid of a flash light to see that no dust or debris fell into the socket and is preventing good contact. If there is dust or debris try blowing it out with some canned compressed air.  It is also possible that in handling the memory modules you got oil from your skin on the contacts.  Try wiping the module contacts with a lint free cloth and alcohol and the reseat the modules a couple of time to insure good contact.

If the beeping continues after cleaning and reseating the memory modules try clearing the CMOS.  Just unplug the system and remove the coin cell battery from the motherboard.  The coin cell's battery socket will have either a little tab that you press to eject the battery or a slot in which you can insert a small screw driver to lift the battery's edge.  Once the battery is removed, press the power button for 30 seconds.  Then reinstall the battery, plug in and try powering up t... Hi, just got this laptop 2 weeks ago and I'm having quite a concerning problem with it... Twice since I've got it, it has started a very loud beep which continued for about 10 seconds. The first time I shut down the laptop to stop it, the second I just waited it out. I have a feeling it's something to do with the speakers failing. As I'm writing this I've noticed that the speakers are making a weird hissing noise behind my music and the sound in general sounds off - a bit tinny. Not as they were when I first bought it and not what I'd expect from my Bang & Olufsen built in speakers. I'll restart the laptop and let you know if that has fixed the sound issue. Anybody else experienced this problem? The loud beep makes me think it's hardware related :/ Thanks,Leon

Answer:Loud Beeping - Can't find what's wrong

Just reset the laptop. The speakers are now working perfectly fine again, no hissing or tinnyness. Weird... Still quite concerned about this beeping, so please let me know if you have any ideas what may be causing it.

I was using google chrome to browse the web when all of the sudden my laptop completely froze. The laptop made a very loud and obnoxious beep that held until i turned the PC off. I couldn't move the cursor via an external mouse or the touchpad, and keys were not responding. Anyone else have this problem with their laptops? The beep and frozen screen held for like 3 minutes, then i decided to turn it off. It was loud, loud enough to be heard across my house.  Or has anyone heard of this problem on another laptop? It only happened once, should i check to see if it happens again and record it?

Hello, Just today my desktop started making  loud beeping sounds when I start it up. They are quite fast and loud; I tried to count how many and they were so quick. I got to 20 but there may have been more. It then proceeds to start up in Windows and everything is the same as usual except for at times whenever I typed words they typed backwards; email became liame, spell was lleps,et and the page also would not scroll. After restarting it was okay as far as the typing but next time I started it up and every time after that it still makes these loud beeping sounds. It is the 9979A1U Lenovo desktop M57. I recently installed Windows 7 and have been having problems with it also so don't know if there is any connection. I scanned it with ThinkVantage and everything passed the scan. Does this sound like anything anyone else has had a problem with and knows what is the cause that they would please share with me? Thank you,Graylady

Hi! I've an Advent Roma and since a few days I can't hear sound anymore from videos & music on my laptop. I've checked the speaker, microphone and other settings and it all looks fine. Also did a restore but still the same.

However, when I started up my laptop this morning I heard the Windows tune and then a very loud, continuous beeping sound. It went away when I pulled my screen closer to the keyboard so I presume it is a hardware issue? Maybe connections that are not wired OK anymore inside the laptop?

Question is if I will be able to use external speakers if it's a hardware issue and do I need to get this fixed before being able to add external speakers?

Answer:Advent Roma laptop loud beeping sound

I would try headphones....you probably have some that will fit...if no sound then probably a driver issue

As for the beep....make-sure the power cable is plug securely into the back.

I honestly did try to search for this, but all I found were results for POST codes. This is a annoying loud continuous beeping sound. This happens after the boot diagnostics, at the point where windows should boot up. There is a cursor in the upper right corner, and that is all it does.

This is a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n PC. It came with Windows Vista, and I am upgrading to Windows 7. I stupidly didn't run upgrade advisor, and am now regretting it.

When I go to HP to find drivers, no Windows 7 drivers show up for this PC. Stupidly, again, I assumed this meant that they were packaged in with Windows 7.

I don't think this is a hardware issue. It happens repeatedly at boot up, but when I put the installation CD in, the PC boots off the CD just fine. This probably doesn't eliminate any hard drive issues, but the PC wasn't showing any signs before, and the installation goes through without a hitch. Is this caused by not having compatible drivers? Are there computers that can't be upgraded? I do meet the minimum requirements. 2.4 Ghz, 3 GB Ram. What may I be missing?

I truly appreciate any help...

Hi everybody, I would like some help!

I recently bought a new fan to help with cooling as the summer approaches. My new fan replaces my old chassis fan but is plugged in slightly differently as it is plugged into the 3 pin mother board connector (the old one was plugged into the molex and is now positioned as an intake fan at the front).

My problem is that since I've installed the new fan my computer is actually louder than before, Everest tells me that the revs for the new fan are 5114 rpm as I type this so it's clearly working too hard. I think it's working too hard because my processor fan is only idling by comparison at 1705 rpm. Which temperature does the chassis fan use to control it's speed and why has my CPU fan suddenly become lazy since I installed the new fan? Is there anything I can do to make the CPU fan work harder and take some of the burden off of the chassis fan?

Many thanks for any help!

- BIOS battery disconected and battery also for long period to discharge all data from the memoryes (dubt to be a virus issue), after recoonection of the bios battery and big battery problem again start to occure.
nothing helped

I looked on forums thet is battery problem (defect battery) but no luck in clear sollution or explanation,
I do not wont to buy new battery (if not 100% that is the source of the problem) becuse I would like that my laptop is working perfectly without batterie also only connected to the 220 V adapter if its possible.

Answer:Graphic picture blinking and loud beeping when turn on Satellite P300

In my opinion this is not a battery issue.
Did you notice this if the notebook is connected to AC adaptor only and if the battery is not connected to the notebook?
If there is no difference then I would say the issue is not battery problem.

Maybe it?s graphic card problem but did you try to update the display driver?\
If not try that!
Furthermore I would recommend checking the notebook with external monitor.
If the same would be visible on internal display and external monitor, then the graphic card might be affected.

Answer:beeping noise

Sounds like your power supply.
I would verify all connections since you have the case open.
Could be mother board but since your cpu fan is not spinning It is most likely the motherboard.
The power supply is not very difficult to replace if you are willing to try or would probaly cost you about $75.00 if you took it in to a shop depending on the type of power supply you will need.
Good Luck,

Hello

I think I have the answer, but would like someone to confirm my theory....

My PC has started beeping intermittently, I believe it only happens when transferring files across...I noticed that when the PC beeps the file transfer stops for a few seconds then resumes...( copying from one HDD to two others at the same time ) if I pause the copying there is no beeping....I am making the assumption that there is a fault with the target HDD which is resulting in the occasional beeping from the PC and stopping both the other HDD"s from copying...

If this sound s likely then I will back up and destroy this suspect HDD..

mamy thanks

Answer:Re beeping noise from PC

Update
I backed up the HDD to another....with the occasional beeping continuing....I then disconnected the suspect HDD whilst copying to another HDD and NO beeping at all....I have arranged to have the HDD replaced under guarantee....but oddly enough as a last resort I unplugged the data leads and replugged them in and the beeping has ' at the moment' gone away, could it be this simple ?

Hi all,

yesterday i received my brand new KRK RP6 G3 active monitor speakers.
But when I connect them with my soundcard, M-Audio Fast track, using unbalanced RCA line out, I get very annoying high pitched beep and continues noise.

The beep only occurs when there is a sound (windows, mp3, youtube, doesn;t matter) and after I stopped the sound the beep continues for a few seconds until it stops.

The white noise starts after the first sound windows makes and doesn't stop anymore. When I move the cursor, or scroll down a internet page the noise gets interrupted and it starts crackling a little.

When I connect the speakers directly with my Ipod for example, then there is almost no noise, and 0 beeping.

I have tried to disables as many as possible things in Windows that could interfere.
I also tried a different soundcard and the soundcard of my motherboard. But nothing fixes the problem completely.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Beeping and noise from KRK RP6 G3

Welcome to Windows Seven Forum.

This could be caused by an earthing loop. I am not familiar with these speakers, but is the bass woofer unit separately powered. If it is, does you home power have an earth system & normally has a 3 wired plug. Sometimes too many earth's can cause a loop & it sets up a high pitched noise like a bad feed back in a public address system, or a loud humming sound.

Sometimes you can insert the RCA plug just far enough in to make the centre contact without the outer ring contacting. If this stop the noise then it may be an earthing problem.

Post back & let us know how you get on.

Question: Beeping Noise?

Ok i just reinstalled Win XP PRO and i installed alll the updates and stuff but didnt install my sound drivers yet. But when I am on AiM, and I hit enter to send something my computer beeps at me. Why does it do this.

Answer:Beeping Noise?

There is probably a really cool sound associated with that action, but since you don't have the sound drivers loaded, Windows uses the system speaker inside the tower. Probably nothing to worry about.

Every so often, my computer makes a random beep. Just out of nowhere, for no good reason. It sounds like its coming from my CPU. Nothing bad seems to happen, but its driving me crazy, i would like to know what is beeping and why.

Answer:What is that beeping noise?

Heh, the beep isn't coming from your CPU, it doesn't have a speaker!

Please post your system specs. I would imagine that if they aren't overly spectacular, you might just be sending too many requests.........

Question: Fan Noise too loud

Hello. Any suggestions on how I can easily cut down on my fan noise? It sounds like there is a lawn mower in here. Please tell me I can just buy a new fan for my processor... or maybe it's the PSU that's so loud. Thanks!

Answer:Fan Noise too loud

Google SpeedFan.

It allows you to vary the speed of your internal fans. Mess around with it til you get a stable, low temperature and desired noise output.

Or, you could just buy new fans.

I got a dell dimension c521 and I notice at random times it has a really loud fan noise. Sounds like an airplane is about to take off or something? It usually happens if im playen video games and what not. I was wondering if this a bad thing or if its normal, and if theres anything I can do to prevent it from getting so loud? Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Answer:Really loud fan noise?

The fan runs at full to extract the heat when playing. About the only thing that you can do is to open it up and clean out any dust that you can see.

Hi,

I recently upgraded the ram in my pc from 1.5gb to 2.5gb as it seemed to be getting pretty slow. I was expecting a pretty big jump in performance but it doesn't seem to have happened.

The pc can sometimes be faster than it was and sometimes it really drags. There is also an intermittent loud noise which i believe is coming from the fan and when this happens the pc is slow.

I took out the fan and cleaned all the dust from it but this noise still starts every couple of minutes and the pc becomes slow.

Any ideas?

Answer:Loud Noise from PC. Don't think it is the HDD

Two things to consider...
The amount of memory doesn't have much to do with speed unless some process can specifically use that extra memory. You can to more things well, but not necessarily more rapidly.

You system will utilize all memory at the speed of the slowest module. If you have some memory that is value ram or other inexpensive ram, the timings could be significantly different than the best brands and models.

Your system only uses what memory it needs, not what you want it to use. As long as the RAM meets the requirements of the motherboard, it will not protest.

If you want some programs to run at optimum performance levels, all memory must be identical. It is wise to buy matched sets of RAM from the same manufacturer at the same time to get the ultimate performance. Top memory is already sold in matched sets in the same plastic wrap. Otherwise, you have to look at the timings and other information posted on the package or the label.

Question: loud noise

I have a loud noise on PC or speakers after its been on a while and it comes on for short time every few minutes.. Its a noise that is hard to describe. Grand daughter says its a space sound, what ever that is.Its odd as when playing music its fine just comes on after pc has been on a bit. Also can't tell if its pc or speakers. Just got new monitor as mine worn out and was hoping it would go but hasn't, it started 3 weeks ago. I turn speakers right down to get away from it.

Answer:loud noise

Is it a beeping sound? If so, can you count the beeps and does the sound repeat itself or is it just now and then.

Question: A Very Loud Noise

I was working in the computer area one night. Of four computers, I was using two, one had been shut down for the night, and the last had been left on, but was unused.Suddenly the room was filled with a very loud noise. We are talking quite loud, almost like a fire alarm - uncomfortably loud to the ears. My first thought was an alarm on the UPS. I checked it, and it was fine. Then I thought maybe a fan bearing gone bad on one of the computers. I shut down the one not being used. Nothing. So then in spite of losing work, I felt it urgent enough to immediately shut down the two computers I was using. Nothing. So my next thought was fans in the room. Shut them down - nothing. Then I thought maybe the lights. Nothing. So my final thing was to unplug the computer that was already shut off - Bingo! What a surprise. I wasn't sure if the noise was from the computer or from the surge protector it was plugged into, so I ran an extension cord across the room. It ran fine about 3 days and then the noise came again, not quite as loud this time, but still loud.So I am thinking power supply or motherboard. The frequency and texture of the sound is the same as the squeal you get from the computer when you disconnect the power and the electricity drains from the system, except that that sound is mildly soft, but it gives you an idea of the nature of the sound. So I'm thinking maybe the motherboard is alarming me about something, but why so loud? And why continuous and won't go of... Read more

My first post here, hope this is the right place. Every midnight the computer starts making a beep beep and so on until it starts beeping constantly unit it stops about a minute later, then it does it again at exactly 12:10 am. It does this when off or on/standby mode with speakers off. It is a sony Vaio about 10 years old with Windows xp. Any ideas? Only way to stop the sound is to unplug all electrical plugins.

Answer:Beeping Noise at Midnight

Boot into Setup (Bios) and look for anything that might say Alarm or Notification
Also to go Start/Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter. In the Event Viewer go to the Left Panel and look under System and Application for any Red X's to see if there is a program that is causing it.

Last night my lap top fell off of my bed. It still turns on and works fine, but every once and awhile i'll hear a loud clicking/beeping coming from inside. When this happens my browser will freeze up for 2 minutes and sometimes I even have to shut it down because it won't come out of it.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? It sounds like something is loose, but I'm not too sure..

Answer:Clicking/beeping noise

Any cable or component could be loose. Remove the keyboard, if you can, then unplug and reseat everything. Remove and reseat the hard drive. Remove and reseat the optical drive. Continue until you have removed and reconnected every possible thing... including the cable from the base unit to the screen.

My laptop has been beeping (5 times) loudly on start-up and then silently but continuously during use.
I know this indicates a battery problem, but for now, I really just need to disable this - I am a student and can't use my laptop in the library if it's like this. I've tried Googling answers, but I can't figure out how to disable the beeps. Please help.
Thanks.

Answer:How to Stop BEEPING noise?

It's either a weak CMOS/reserve battery or a bad clock chip.  Try replacing the CMOS battery -- it's usually a CR-2032 lithium button cell somewhere on the mainboard (we'll need to know what model - i.e., Inspiron N5110, 5531, etc. to tell you for sure).
If that doesn't solve the problem, it's the clock chip that's bad and the mainboard will need to be replaced.
There's no way to silence the beeps short of fixing the problem that's causing them.

Hello there, I have just purchased a brand new HP Envy 15 with i7. Everything is perfect but i hear clicky noise like there is a disc in the DVD drive, along with that companied by the occasional beep. I have turned off all audio to assess the beeping noise and its not from the speakers, and it does not happen on a regular interval. Infact it seem more random and just beep at unexpected times, some times more frequent, sometimes not a sound for hours. The clicky sound i mentioned sound like the PC is processing a disc in the DVD drive, which is a rather odd noise, and sound more like something thats 4-5 years old rather than a brand new PC.All of my laptops have been HP, and they all seem rather silent upon first purchase, so i would like to have a clarification regarding about these issues.  Many thanksRegardsLisa

Answer:Beeping noise from HP Envy 15

Hi @Paperdollies ,Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Envy 15 Notebook and strange clicking noises coming from what appears to be the CD/DVD tray. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. This will have the BIOS look at the Hardware that is connected. If an update has changed the BIOS this will restore it and usually resolves any issues with the clicking noises. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Every time I startup my old pc I get a very annoying and constant beeping noise. It started after installing some RAM on it (somewhat forcefully, afraid I might've broken something on the motherboard the process maybe). I also changed the video card before so, but it booted up fine and I installed drivers and such for it and it wasn't until afterwards that it did it. Can someone tell me what's wrong with my computer and possibly how to fix it?

Answer:Bootup Beeping Noise

Check the support website for the manufacturer to see what the beep codes are telling you . . the beep codes are different for different boards, but if it started after installin RAM, I'd take that RAM out and see if the beeping goes away

I don't see anything in the scanlog -- except possibly O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Symantec PIF AlertEng] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc.exe" /a /m "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\AlertEng.dll"

The "bonk" sounds like a notification sound if it is a "windows" sound and not coming from the motherboard. I don't know what the above does, but possibly norton is trying to tell you something.

Why don't you try "clean booting" and see if it occurs:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup group" on the general page.

See this link for detailed information:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310353
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 << for Vista, but applies equally to XP, and better written.

Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as well.

Get the idea? You want to isolate the problem to a specific startup if possible.

My main gaming computer has given me the following problems. When I turn it on there is no image displayed on the screen. (I have tested the monitor with other systems it is fine) and I hear a series of short beeps which lasts ~5 seconds and then the computer appears to be running (fans spinning lights on but no sounds from the speakers or images on the monitor). I don't believe the problem could be my video cable due to the beeping noises and lack of start up music playing over the speakers. Thus I assume that the problem lies with my video card or the motherboard. Am I right to make this assumption? The only major hardware change in that computer was an upgrade to the video card, last year, and a new sound card, at the beginning of this year. I also cannot think of any software I have downloaded recently that could be causing problems. I still have the old video card so should I try switching it with the current one? Would that help? What should I do? What else could cause this problem?

Hi Everyone, I have just purchased a Yoga 2 13 nonpro and I occasionally get a single beep coming from it. It does this more so on while on battery. I know that the beeps are indicative of hardware issues, but the descriptions of the beep codes are extremely vague. Do any of you have any idea what could be causing this? I work on this computer and the last thing I want to do is send it to be checked out since that will take a few weeks at the least. Any information you can provide will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Don't know if you found it already, there's an option in the bios that turns battery beep on and off. When on it will beep when it will start/stop charging.

If anyone wants I can send it.There is no way I can attach it here. Someone please tell me the solution of it. Btw, is there anybody else who is facing the same problem with the laptop's fan?

Answer:Fan makes loud noise.

try to clean your air vent by blowing it with compressed air, and see whether you dislodge any dusts, it is probably dirty now and needs to be cleaned........... also install HWmonitor (a free download off the net) and check your CPU temp....... if got warranty, let the Lenovo service people fix it up for you, if not then it is fairly easy DIY job.

Well a lenovo, used for a year and a buzzing loud crackling fan noise problem... Aren't we surprised!!!Useless to ask for a BIOS update for a essential product, they didn't care to give one for a thinkpad. Here's the problem though...The laptop makes a buzzing fan noise. That is not a fan running at full speed. This noise is more like a buzz of a large fluoroscent tube. And will stop, well, if you tap it, knock it, or use your acquired accupressure massage tricks for the revered Lenovo products. Problem is it will reappear after a few minutes or seconds depending on your luck. Lenovo don't seem to provide any off shelf fans at least in India for the product. Even the cpu temp seem to be rising. It has touched 70C for i53210m.(room temp at 26C, load 100% for arnd 30 sec, avg load 6%)My question is with the temperature on the higher side, and the fact that I cannot feel much air from the fan, how do I know the gurgarating buzzing loud fan is actually working or needs to be changed?

Answer:G580 loud fan noise

Hi,

It might just need a cleaning.  Here's your Hardware Maintenance Manual .  That should show you how to gain access to it.

Answer:loud noise on startup

What model? Have you taken off the cover to look inside? Has it been moved recently? Sometimes a wire can get caught rubbing in one of the fan blades.Or it could be taking off.Let us know what you find.

Whenever i start up a game, a loud squeeky noise appears for no reason. I think its my video card but im just wondering if its something else. Does anyone know about this problem??

Answer:Weird loud noise????

It could be a fan, when you put more pressure on your graphics card it may well decide to turn up its 'im a little bastard' fan.

They can be quiet loud. They should be torn asunder and replaced with nice Coolermaster or Zalman things.

Frosty cool and quiet.

Question: loud static noise!

My computer is constantly making a loud static/rushing/electronic interference noise, all the time apart from when I play a CD using the Windows CD player - but if I try and play a CD using Windows Media Player I still get the noise, and the CD volume is so quiet you cannot hear it over the interference!

Any suggestions? I have a USB broadband modem and the problem started shortly after I installed this. I only have integral sound that came with the motherboard, I don't have a soundcard.

Any help welcome!

I built my own pc about a year ago. Lately whenever I boot the machine up it makes this weird buzzing, clicking noise. It generally stops after it gets fully booted up. Then it is quiet, but sometimes it will start making a buzzing noise after it has been on for awhile (I leave it on all the time). At first I was worried it might be the hard drive, but I have not had any real trouble with the machine. I figured if it were the hard drive, it probably would have died by now or I'd have some serious issues. So, what do you think? It would have to be the power supply or one of the internal fans right? Should I replace my 400 watt power supply?

Thanks!

Answer:PC making loud noise, could it be the PS or something else??

Its probably a fan. I would take it out and take a look at it and put it back. You first have to find out wich fan it is.

I have had similar problems. I used to hit the fan a few times wih a screwdriver and it fixed the problem. I am not recommending it though. It was my PSU fan. Maybe u should clean it. Be careful.

Hello, I've been searching around for a possible solution to this problem, but didn't find anything major dusts trapped within the fan housing.  The noise is especially pronounced when I plug in the AC, not so much when I'm using the battery.  I downloaded fanspeed to monitor my pc's temperature, and found it to exceed 180 degrees F when running memory intensive programs, sometimes staying at around 200 degree F, in short I can feel alot of heat being emittied through the keypad. The noise is annoying and I believe the fan to be the main culprit, however I read somewhere that an AC malfunction is a possibility.  The laptop is at factory settings, although I did uninstall lenovo power management to fix an exisiting problem before.  Does anyone have inputs?

Answer:T60 emitting loud noise from fan

Hello and welcome here. Please try a vacuum cleaner or a can of compressed air and clean your vents. Here you´ll find some very usefull videos for opening your system. You´won´t void your warranty, if your only open the CRU`S.

My laptop - just over a year old now - began making this noise. I of course assume it is the fan or hard drive. I'm glad I did backup for recovery and drivers...but what steps should I take? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Question: Loud buzzing noise

Hello!

I have a year-old Lenovo G500 laptop, and recently it started doing this loud, buzzing sound quite often, even when there's only one program opened. I checked CPU and disk usage the first few times it happened, but they're fairly low. I'm not really tech-savvy, so I'm not exactly sure if the sound is coming from a fan or is it HDD. I do know for sure that the fan isn't dusty, when I brought it to a tech shop they told me there's no need for a cleaning. I'm sorry if the question is stupid, but the frequent loud sound makes me worried and I can't be sure if it's just laptop's normal sound or not. Any help appreciated.

Answer:Loud buzzing noise

Can be coming from a fan, be first thought even if not dirty can be going bad, something is loose and rubbing on it, also can be power supply which also have fans and or the hard drive. Know which side hard drive is on on laptop. This is not coming from the speakers ? How is it when it is plugged in, does this only happen on a battery ?

I just got my new XPS 2710 a week ago. All things working perfectly (Windows 8 not too exciting)  except the fan noise. I have no application consuming CPU, memory is low and no network activity still I hear the fan running a bit higher than normal.
Does anyone has seen this or has recommendation before I call support and debug.

thanks

Answer:New XPS One 2710 loud fan noise

Hi pkmaster,
The fan could be running at a higher speed due to any Windows background services accessing the processor resources. However, I suggest you to run the hardware diagnostics to check if all the components are working properly and particularly on the Processor and the fan by following the steps provided in the following link:http://dell.to/OUGnqT
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

C440 all-in-one. Just faced with loud annoying fan noise when CP is high-loaded. The main reason of the high-load is seems to be - the preinstalled antivirus software!

Answer:Loud fan noise C440

hi dim2314,

Thanks fro Posting!

Have you checked if in safemode it will do the same fan noise?
Antivirus software will be disabled in safemode and if that's what causing it it should stop in safemode.

Let me know what happeneds
Cheers!

Hello, So this started happening when I was moving the laptop one day (when it was on) the fan suddenly got very loud and the whole laptop was vibrating, it sounded like the fan was touching something while it spins which made the vibrating and loud noise, it sounds exactly like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkCLubSukzI I fixed it by restarting the laptop (sleep works too, seems like whatever makes the fan stop) but now it randomly happens, the normal noise of the fan has changed and it sometimes gets that loud again as showed in the video and then I have to restart to fix it. I've tried to open the laptop but some screws were too hard and stuck lol so I gave up. and I've cleaned the vents from dust.

I just got my x201 for several days. The fan's noise seems unbearable. Especially in the late night, It was running all the time, even if I didn't run anything. I ran the power setting and set the fan to reduce noise. But it doesn't seem to work.. Any other one has the same problem?

Answer:x201's fan noise is too loud

hi, i own also a x201 and it's not the fan, which makes the noise, it's the 7200 rpm harddisk!! I replaced it with a ssd, and now the x201 is very quiet :-) cheers, zep

Recently, I upgraded my graphic card. From FX5200 to 6600GT. And I got a new Power Supply. The power suply i got was 450watt Ultra neon (which was about 40 dollars).
And my computer noise has increased enormously. Has the system noise been increased because the power supply is not of good quality?

And if i get a better power supply, will the noise level drop?

thanks

Answer:Loud Computer Noise

what is making the noise? you gotta open ur case to find out
