I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Fresh Reinstall order Windows 7

Hi ,

Welcome To Lenovo Community

You have to install RAID drivers before switching to RAID in the bios
For installing windows you have to include Intel Rapid Storage driver on intall.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730&ProductFamily=Chips...
Download and extract the
f6flpy-x64.zip (for 64bit windows)
or
f6flpy-x86.zip (for 32bit windows)
in a folder on the flash drive.
When installing try advanced mode and load drivers button. Search the folder on the flash where you have extracted the files, and after that you should see the hard disk in the installer.

I read some guides that tell you to go into your bios when your pc starts up and make sure the cd-rom drive is listed before the hdd in the boot sequence. I did this, but it turns out my reinstallation disc is a dvd. Therefore, it didn't work in the cd-rom drive. I then put it in the dvd rom drive and tryed to get it to detect it first that way, but that didnt work either becase the dvd-rom drive isn't even listed in the boot sequence devices. I'm positive the dvd-rom drive doesn't count under the usb/cd-rom choice as I went into boot setup and tried to make it boot from there, and that did not work. What do I do?

Answer:Trying to reinstall windows in order to format hdd, help

I may be wrong but hit F10 after the BIOS screen flashes and I think that you can select to boot from CD/DVD... I'm not too sure though....

You must uninstall Pro by installing another OS over it or format it
Then just install in the new computer.
You can install as many times as you like but one computer at a time.

Okay So i am running windows 7 pro 64 bit I got via the .edu email cheappy thing, and I was wondering how can I do a fresh install of windows 7? I have the dlled file on my external harddrive... should I copy to internal harddrive? and does it just install again? or what?

Thanks!

Answer:Reinstall Windows 7 Fresh!

Depends on what type of install you want, and whether you got ISO to burn or just files.

Best is to burn the ISO to a DVD and boot into installer to format the HDD and clean install. If Upgrade, it will scan the HDD to see the prior qualifying OS before wiping it.

If you want an inplace Upgrade which saves your programs, files and settings (plus any corruption) run the installer from desktop.

M50  8189-EIU I bought this machine used with no OS and installed my XP Pro on the machine and recall I had to download something from Lenovo to get it to work. Unfortunately, I have forgotten what, maybe a modem or networking patch? Anyway it is time for a fresh install, as the system is too loaded down with junk and runs like an 8088 processor! What do I need to burn to disk before I wipe the drive and start over?

I reinstalled windows yesterday cause sql server 2008 gave me hard time (i couldnt remove it entirely)...before that, system was working for like 2 years...

Also, one of the reason is often crashes and bsods in game Tribes Ascend...

So yesterday i installed some drivers on fresh windows, some programs etc and everything was ok...then on second run, Tribes crashed and i knew at that point that the problem is hardware...

Couple of minutes ago i started new counter strike, got bsod and i said **** it...if you guys pinpoint the problem, if not i'll have to buy new machine soon...

details:

win 7 ultimate x64
not original, applied oem activator
hardware is old 2,5 years, maybe 3
reinstalled yesterday

Answer:BSOD on fresh windows reinstall

Since you have older hardware, check compatibility: Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads
Crash was somewhat inconclusive. It is easier to find patterns after multiple crashes, so we may have to wait. I did see an out of date driver: Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC Rt64win7.sys.

I know this question must be asked quite often, but I want to be be confident before I reformat my machine.

I have a Lenovo ideaCenter K300 I bought in May. I want to reformat and reinstall in order to get a "factory-fresh" install of W7.

So far I have tried building a system repair disc. Other tutorials [here] said it would take 7 CDs, this only took one so I'm not sure I did the right thing. I restarted and ran the disc, it only looks to be a bunch of repair utilities.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hello, I have bought an HP 255 G4 notebook here in Serbia. It was very slow so I decided to upgrade the ram to 8GB 2133MHz maybe that will help a little. But unfortunately it did not help, then I reinstalled the windows too, but the situation is the same. I don't know why is this notebook so slow, it has a 1,4 GHz dual core cpu with 1MB cache, and now 8GB ram. Even the browser is opening slowly, this pc is just barely usable. Any suggestions?

I purchased windows Xp pro but have misplaced my product ID. I need to reinstall a fresh copy of windows on to a computer registered with the upgrade product ID. Can I use the upgrade cd to get a fresh copy of XP on that computer?

I have tried some product ID finders and am a little apprehensive on using that product ID because If i wipe clean during reinstall and the product ID is not correct then I am in hole with no computer.

Help would be great. THanks

Answer:Can I reinstall a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro with my upgrade CD?

Use any one of the free software apps to pull out your key, such as MagicJellyBean, and you should be good to go. I'm thinking this is what you mentioned, and unless you had an OEM system, like a Dell, that is still running the pre-installed version, your key should be legit for your full disc.

We enjoyed using Fresh Paint app on Windows 8. But in the last few days I noticed a 'x' mark on its tile.
On clicking it, I found that the app just wouldn't run!
So I tried to repair the app. Did not work.
Uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Did not work!
Tried it twice. Once got the error that the app was no longer available!
Confirmed that it was indeed available.
The next time I got a different error code 0x8024001e.
Had also checked out if any of these app troubleshooting steps applied to the case.
In short Fresh Paint will not install on my Windows 8 Pro RTM x64 now.
Stumped! Any ideas? I can install, uninstall, update, re-install other apps, btw.

My computer has been doing a wide range of strange behaviors since reinstalling about two months ago.  For one, I system restore function doesn't work.  Task Manager usually takes quite a few  hits to start up.  Some of my programs suddenly start acting up, malfunction.  I've been in touch with the software tech support for one of my most important programs and they can't find any reason why I'm having problems with their product.  I've tried reinstalling it, too.  Just today I tried to create a PDF file with Corel Fusion (legal, paid for version) and it won't create the PDF.  I tried uninstalling the program to install an updated version and I can't uninstall it through Control Panel/Programs and Features.  I've had failures in installing software.  Recently I've had freezes/slowness resizing photos in my photo editing program.  I checked usage and the reason for this is the procedure maxes out my RAM. I only have 4GB but as I said, I've never had these sorts of problems before...and this slowness just started up suddenly a short while back.   I've been using this program for decades on various computers and never had this problem.  I've been using this program with no issues on this computer for a few years.

My AV (Webroot) and MalwareBytes finds nothing.

I don't want to waste time trying to find malware.  I have a copy of Windows 7 in a partition on my hard drive.  However, I would rat... Read more

The title says it all really, I did a fresh windows reinstall a few days ago and now every so often my computer freezes. I'm assuming it's a driver issue but I don't know.

Thanks,

Matt

Answer:Fresh windows reinstall, computer keeps freezing

Compare the install you did to the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7
which has been used by over 1.3 million consumers without a single problem. If it doesn't measure up, then I'd redo it. The driver steps are so important they are printed in red.

If the install is good then work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with a Clean Boot, infection tests, SFC, hardware tests, cull logs for repeat problems to resolve, etc. This should uncover the problem with patient persistence. Report back as you go for possible added steps.

I reinstalled windows recently and did do it, but I noticed the space wasn't freed up on my laptop.

So now I have 2 versions on the same laptop. Even though one of them I have reinstalled all that the fresh reinstalled took away.

How do I free up the space on my hard drive with the other version that I am not going to use?

Answer:Fresh reinstall Windows xp- now have 2 versions-same laptop?

Hi,
IF you have two versions then you must have two drives, am I right?

If correct then format the drive with the older version of windows on, this can be done my going onto My Computer, right clicking on the drive and clicking on Format.

Just recently, I nuked and fresh installed Windows XP on an old Dell XPS 400, and now that I finally have the OS working, Icant get the Internet working. I realized that my problem was probably that my drivers were not working, and after realizing that my sound driver wasn't working either, I relaized that I probably needed to reinstall many of my drivers. I was just wondering about what the easiest way to reinstall all of my drivers would be. Thanks in advance!

Answer:Easiest way to reinstall drivers after Windows XP fresh install

You can go to the Dell support site, enter your Service Tag Number and download the drivers. Be sure to use IE and do not use the Dell Download Manager!

On the list of drivers, click on the Download File and on the next page, choose Single File Download . . save the file to a flash drive and double click on the Dell to install.

Install the Chipset driver first, then the Network Adaptor . . after that you can use the internet and download the rest

Hello everyone, I've been having a ton of problems with my computer for the better part of a year. No matter what GPU I have installed (used to have an r9 390) I get input lag in all games until reinstalling my GPU drivers. After restarting later on in the day all the sudden the input lag is back; again until reinstalling the drivers.
I really hope someone can help me, I haven't been able to play Overwatch properly for a long time and I'm on a semi-pro team. I've replaced my motherboard, GPU, SSD, and memory so far. I've tried running in selective startup, and pretty much anything I could think of. If you need more details please let me know I'm hoping to get this resolved as quickly as possible before my next team's practice.

Motherboard:
Asus Maxiumus IX Hero
(Used to have an Asus z170-a)

GPU:
Nvidia EVGA 1080 ti (I've installed different drivers that all result in the same input lag upon restart, using DDU)

SSD:
Samsung 950 Pro (with latest NVME drivers)

Memory:
GSKILL 3200 16gb x 2

Power Supply:
EVGA 1000W

CPU:
Intel 6700k @ 4.0
Kraken x61 with CAM software

Note: I've contacted Blizzard a lot and they keep telling me my computer looks fine based on my msinfo/dxdiag. However I think I'm missing something. It only ever operates properly upon reinstalling the GPU drivers whether its the 1080 ti or the r9 390. I've suspected it might have something to do with my M.2 drive as well since the issues only return upo... Read more

Answer:Input Lag In Games Until Gpu Driver Reinstall Or Windows Fresh Install

It would be hard to say the problem is with your computer when you have replaced the motherboard, GPU, RAM and drive. If your computer works fine otherwise, I don't see how it could be your CPU either.

What security are you using?

Since Overwatch is an online game how's your network connection?

Hello, this could be a question addressed to the UK folks. Because of massive system porblems I have had t reinstall XP Pr with SP2. Before reinstalling XP I formmated the hard drives t give me a blank canvas to work. The reinstall worked fine but I cannot reinstall my Virgin Media Bradband service. Before the reinstall the bradband service was wrking fine..When I originall took out the bradband service it was through NTL. My cable modem states 'NTL' and the broadband disk has NTL' on it and I registered it tthough NTL. Now Virgin Media has bought up NTl annd I don't know if there is a compatibility prblem. Des somebdy else know?

shane

Answer:Fresh XP reinstall: cannot reinstall broadband

use an ethernet cable to plug into your cable modem, if you use USB you will require drivers to 'talk' to the modem.
if this still does not work then possibly the MAC address of the Virtual USB connection you previously had before the reinstall is tied to that modem, although to be honest i havent seen this problem ever since virgin took over

p.s go to start -> run and type devmgmt.msc can you see any yellow exclamation marks in there? if so you need drivers for these devices. Sorry if you already knew this, just trying to help!

I am doing a fresh install of Windows XP SP3 (32 bits) from an Windows installation CD. As we know, after Windows CD completes the initial installation, a bunch of unknown devices shows up in Device  Manager. So I need to install drivers for them.  And  I only want to install nessesary drivers and as little of   additional ThinPad Software as possible. So I go to ThinkPad  Download Drivers & Software and there are WinXP drivers for my model (5143-28U). Some drivers are uniqe and are pretty obvoius to identify, for example, "Intel Chipset" or "Rapid Storage". But others are confusing, sometimes there 2 or even 3 similarly looking drivers. For example:(1)ThinkPad 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II for Windows XP, 10.95 MB,  Ver:1.00.0029.8     released 14Sep2011.(2)Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg) 242.48 MB    Ver:14.02.0000    released 08Sep2011Which of the two to install? If both, then which is the first? ......????   ......??? Etc, etc, etcOr another example:(1) Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows XP - ThinkPad.(2) Bluetooth Support File for Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows XP.Which of the two to install? Hi,

I've done a long-overdue clean install of Windows 7 and everything was fine (except for the 2-day wait for updates to become available). However, now i am trying to install a second SSD for the purposes of dual booting with Linux.

Windows just refuses to boot unless i disconnect that second SSD. There is no problem with detection or me not selecting the right boot device etc. Windows tries but fails to boot.

The bootloader loads and then it tells me that there was a problem starting windows. It gives me that white on black menu with (more or less): Try to repair the startup or boot normally. Both options simply return you to the same point after only a few seconds or if Grub is installed on the other drive it will hand over to Grub after saying "Windows is loading files..." - it will not boot into Windows.. Disconnect the other SSDs and everything works fine.

I used to dual-boot with this computer with these drives.

The only thing i can think of as being different is the BIOS setting was set for HDD before and now it is SSD. This was changed after the fresh Win7 install (i didn't even know it was a thing until i was having problems). It's an ASRock Extreme6 Z77 motherboard. The SSD setting does provide improved performance over the HDD setting so i'm loathed to return to it or reinstall with the SSD setting from the beginning. Note i tried to return the motherboard to Hard Drive setting but it made no difference.

Thanks.

Answer:Fresh install. Good. Attach another SSD in order to dual-boot. Busted.

Hi,
I would remove the 7 ssd and then install the 2nd ssd and install linux,
I would also recommend using one of these to dual boot it makes life so much easier

Hi,
Install windows 10 and confirm activation as suggested in forums. Downloaded Windows Media Creation Tool to create fresh reinstall. Ran it to create 64 bit ISO. Now using the ISO to reinstall windows 10. At 30% restore, it failed. I tried various recovery. Even did chkdsk on drive c with /r and also with /f. Same problem again - failure at about 30% restore.

Reading in forums, I discover Refresh Windows Tool(exe). Downloaded and ran it (tool) to download Windows 10.
What I dislike. No Pause or ability to use a download manager. When this download of about 3gb is done, where is it saved? How to use? Yea, automatic for I still have prior install files (programs, data folders, etc) which means nothing was done. Did restart hoping for a fresh reinstall - no changes. Thus I am posting in this forum with paragraph 1 (media tool) and Refresh tool (paragraph 2).

Went into BIOS startup and told it to use DVD (boot order priority), but instead window normal login was done and given. Thus, use window recovery within to execute the ISO.

Answer:Fresh ReInstall Windows 10 (Media Creation Tool & Refresh Window Tool)

If you want to do a fresh reinstall (clean install) then you need to make a bootable USB flash drive or a physical DVD from the image contained in the ISO file and actually boot the computer from it.

Answer:What Is The Proper Order To Install "Drivers" During Fresh Windows 7-10 Install?

First step use the media creation tool to make a USB upgrade copy of 10 instalation. For your initial Win7 install just a fresh installation of Windows 7 SP1 and LAN drivers then activate no need to install any other updates or drivers. Once you are sure it's activated then run the USB install you made earlier. The installation and subsequent updates should take care of everything else. If not then you can install any drivers it misses.

Hello again!  I've just yesterday received my new X1 and since it had Win7 64-bit Pro installed and I need my Ultimate version, I had to jump in and reinstall anew. I put on the Ultimate (via the USB key), and also installed all the drivers from the laptop (I backed them up from the original C: drive), and also some apps, but I still don't know where to get and how to install the nice command center that is accessible just beside the big battery gauge in the taskbar - I am talking about the center where all the diagnostics etc are accessible through one single click .... I've used the Lenovo System Update 4 program and downloaded and installed just about every patch, driver and app it offered, and I still can't find that stuff ... Also, when I checked the Control Panel in the original setup, it had contained like 10-12 proprietary Lenovo applets, but now there are only 4 or 5 ...  Please, anybody have a hint? I am also attaching the image of where in the taskbar the big red icon should be - just besides the battery meter ...  http://twitpic.com/5yfvc4 TNX in advance, I hope this time I get some answers ;-)  PS: love the X1, if only the screen would be IPS .... hope next revision will boast it

I need the correct driver install order, on a clean install of windows 7 ultimate. I have read some other recommended driver install orders, but am unsure. I have reinstalled windows 3 times since my purchase, due to virus, and other system (hdd drive) problems.  On my previous install i had one hell of a time, deciding which drivers were needed, and which were messing with the system. I am using all drivers for win 7 64 bit off of this download page.  http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/in/en/DriversDownLoads/APR_Driver_List.aspx?CategoryID=955740&OS=0 Thanks again. Dailey

1) My desktop takes forever to boot up, then after being on 5 minutes it reboots itself so I am unable to run utilities or virus scans. I have the Dell Reinstallation CD, + the Dell Drivers and Utilities cd, however I can't even get into Boot Options to change the boot order to cd drive The System32 files are damaged, + the windows installer is corrupt. What to do now?
2) In the past I have used a special cable to connect defective hard drive to a functioning pc and use it's OS to run scans and remove viruses from the defective drive. But I don't know how using this method would help if the problem with defective drive is damaged or missing system files. Ie. I do not know how to repair these files while the defective hard drive is connected to another functioning pc OS. Any thoughts on this?

3) One other concern, there is a product key # label on the Dell case, however as I recall this rarely matches the product key in the machine (in BIOS or hard drive???) . I'm wondering if I will have trouble activating the OS if I only have product key on outside of case?

Answer:Can't change boot order to use Dell Reinstall DVD

1) system32 nowt to do with bios if having issues entering bios then will need to reset it by taking battery out for a minute
you can not do anything else till you fix the boot order but obviously you could attempt a safe mode approach pressing f8 repeatedly on start up

3) this should be ok even if you have to go down the phone microsoft route

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 that I just bought used, the machine is only a year old in great shape the guy never used it. It came preloaded with 8, the previous owner swapped out the old HD with better higher RPM HD. He then loaded 8.1 and updated the Drivers. However he also he named the machine his name. I want to use this machine for business and would like to reformat the drive and reload win 8.1 on it. I've looked up the product key and verified it. It really didn't come with anything loaded on it, so I'm not concerned with saving anything. How would I go about doing this. I've done searches to see if I this has happened before but can't seem to find a similar scenario and how it was solved. Thanks

Answer:Complicated fresh reinstall of 8.1, Help!

Hey mate,

You can rename the computer: PC Name - Change in Windows 8
If you would still like to clean install (often recommended with used computers), see this tutorial: Clean Install - Windows 8 - ensure you read it completely to get all suggestions and warnings before beginning. It covers everything. If you still need help, let us know!

I'll get right to the point and try to be as specific as I can. I have installed Windows 7 home premium on my XPS laptop. I previously was running Vista home premium. When i start my machine, it asks me if i want to start with vista or 7.

The trouble is that when I select 7, it boots up and still has all my previous vista files on my partritioned hard drives. This is a problem because both were badly infected by viruses. I want to COMPLETELY delete ALL files and do a clean install of Windows 7 so that W7 is the only OS on my computer. Hitting f12 as my computer starts and asking it to boot from the W7 disc only results now in the machine booting up normally. How can I just delete everything and start anew?

Answer:Wanting a fresh reinstall

When you installed Windows 7 Did you select the correct Hard Drive and while installing it should have asked you for an Upgrade or Custom install (Clean Install)

My computer runs on WinXP Pro. Lately, it has started showing some trouble in processing speed. If more than one Internet Explorer windows are opened, or if applications like ADOBE Photoshop are used, the system slows down to almost a standstill. Even using the Windows Task Manager to shut down certain processes doesn't help.
I've run virus scans and spyware scans and the problem still persists.
So, I've decided to resort to the oldest solution: reinstall windows XP!
However, when I run the installation CD and try to choose "Fresh installation", the setup program returns a message "Product Key invalid".

My questions:

1. Can I format the hard drive and reinstall win xp without doing a fresh installation?
2. If I have to do an upgrade installation (which Im guessing is the same as a reinstall?), then how can i get rid of all the old data that's lying scattered around on my hard disk?
3.I'm connected to the internet through an NTL Broadband 1MB link (cable). Does this have anything to do with it? Also, I recently uninstalled LIMEWIRE; could that be causing any problems?

I would REALLY appreciate it if anyone could throw some light on this problem or make suggestions that may be helpful.

Hope to get an answer soon!

Answer:Reinstall or Fresh Install?

Hi

Before you try a reinstall try running a repair from the XP CD.

Start up from the CD as if you are going to perform an installation.

You will be prompted to use the recovery console to do a repair - DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OPTION

continue as though you are doing an install. when you get through to the stage that askes you about partitions the Installation will detect the old version and ask you if you want to install a fresh copy of XP (esc) or repair the installation (R).

Select R and let it continue, if this doesnt fix the issue reinstall the system completely.

As one of the people that replied to your first post - which is exactly the same as this one and lower down todays list - I am wondering why you have double posted?

If you need further advice or clarification you can make a request on the other string and it will come to the top of todays posting list. Your posts to date will enable people to respond with more accuracy. It will also be helpful if you can state clearly what you are trying to achieve and what you have tried so far.

Please do not double post in this way.

I got my friends Windows disk, since he's moved on to Windows 7. It's Windows XP Pro Student Edition. It's a legit copy, however I do not know which drivers to back up before I begin to wipe and reinstall my system.

Could somebody please give me some insight?

Answer:[SOLVED] doing fresh reinstall

you can use driver backup tools like "double driver" or "driver magician" etc. but i normally would prefer to download the latest drivers from the net.

drivers you would normally require are mb, and any addon cards you might have. all depends on your hardwares. do you know the specs of your pc?

don't forget you also need to reload all other softwares since you are doing a fresh install.

Hi All,

I have a quick question.. I have been working on the software trouble shooting since some time and the newest thing to suprise me is this.. A customer called in saying that he has a browser redirect issue.. I ran the hijackthis and was able to move unwanted details/entried.. I also ran malwarebytes, trojan remover and superantispyware on both safemode as well as on normal mode.. now when i try to search anything in yahoo.com or in google.com it redirects but bing.com works fine.. The customer's machine had multiple issues and an operating system re-installation was inevitable so I did a an OSRI (complete format install) . After the network driver installation I tried going online (which it did) and was really suprised that the browser redirection was still happening in the same fashion. Its the same case with IE, mozilla firefox and chrome. We even tried connecting it to a different network just to be sure its not an infected DNS. Can someone please help me as its killing me within to know why exactly is this hapenning even after a clean OSRI :-(

Looking forward for your thoughts,
regards,
Sunil

Just purchased a y430 and love it. I upped the ram and installed Vista 64, however when I try to install the One Touch software I get a message that this is not a Lenovo computer.  I also can not install the Intel video drivers.  I get a message about "not all requirements have been met". Any help would be great. ThanksJohn

i am by no means a lenovo technician, or guru, or anything, buuuuut...  my guess is that the One Touch software requires you to have a Lenovo-based OEM version of windows.  did you purchase Vista from another source (besides lenovo, that is)?that's all I can think of... Good luck!

Weird issue here. Friend's XP PC was filled with malware, after working on cleaning it off for about 2 days, we elected to back up the data and reinstall the OS. At my house (after reinstalling everything), it works fine (hard wired GB eth). I get all of the updates done (SP3 and all current updates) and take it back over to his house, can't get his wireless to connect (Linksys WUSB600N to Fastweb router). So I start poking. Sorry about the randomness of the following pieces of information, but I can't think of a way to organize them:

I've rebooted the router multiple times, and the pre-existing XP laptop gets back online immediately. I'm still not able to connect the desktop, including if I disconnect the laptop and try to connect the rebuilt desktop without the laptop being connected, after rebooting the router with the laptop off.
I tried manually assigning the rebuilt desktop an IP address a few above the laptop, and using the same GW, SM, and DNS entr... Read more

Ok,have a PC with win xp pro. Keep getting blue screen after boot up. Reboot and it and usually 2nd or 3rd time will load windows. So I thought well why not reinstall with Win 7 instead of XP. Have it on my PC so thought this would resolve my problem. Because cause of corrupt files. But the dam blue screen is back. Same problem as before. Could it be because there is not enough RAM and it is causing me problems? Here the MOBO ASUS P4S8X-MX with 2 gig of RAM. Sorry I don't have the PC in front of me to say what CPU is in it.

Hello I have quite a big problem and I can't find any help.

Basically I reinstalled my Windows 7 after formatting everything on my HDD and now I get BSOD constantly.
Here is what I tried:

1. Did another fresh reinstall (formated everything again) -didnt work
2. Got 2 new 4GB RAM sticks. BSOD kept happening. Strangely when I used Memtest86 it detected about 30 errors but I put the new sticks in another computer and Memtest86 found no errors.. (Video RAM problem?)
3. Uninstalled all drivers and installed most recent ones. -didnt work
4. Updated Windows -didnt work
5. My GPU CD installed a program called GPU Tweak and whenever I tried to close that program I always got a BSOD. I uninstalled it but it kept happening (the GPU is 1 month old and works 100% on different PC)

Also I used bluescreenview to inspect the BSOD. Before uninstalling GPU Tweak most of the BSOD were caused by IOMap64.sys . BUT every single BSOD is caused by ntoskrnl.exe ! All of them !
BSOD also caused by :ntfs.sys ,atikmdag.sys!

The BSOD errors are : NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM(very rare) SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION (99% of the time) and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA ( also kinda rare)

My specs : AMD Phenom II X3 710 Proccesor 2.60 GHz ; 8GB Ram ; ATI Raedon R7 260x GPU;

I will provide every additional info if needed . Please help me ! Thank you !

Can I reinstall a fresh version of windows 7 from an OEM product key?

Yes, but you need the installation media from somewhere.

You can't get it from that link with an oem key.

Hello,

I was trying to fix my girlfriends computer for her by completing a reinstall of vista via the recovery partition on her Compaq Presario F500.

I managed to do this fine and so i started to uninstall all the bloatware and do windows updates etc.

However, the computer went into restart and now i'm getting a BSOD very early on OR the computer just turns itself off.

I tried pressing F11 to start a fresh reinstall of vista again but there was an error. I then made a bootable XP cd as a last ditch effort and a BSOD occurred.

Is there anything i can do to try and get this machine working??

Thanks,
James

Hello Hello,
I have a machine (AMD) that is a duel boot configuration XP (was on first) and 7.
This machine has 2 HD's where both OS reside on. They are a Raid0 config.
It also has another HD for backup purposes (which I have done)

I think I would now like to wipe both OS clean and just install Windows 7 fresh. (i dont think I need to partition any more as this machine will be strictly for invoices and estimates, and I still have other HD's to back up to)

I DO have BOTH OS Disc's from the original installs (XP & 7 discs)

I am worried about the raid set up. Will I have to do anything with that? I have no experience there at all.

And (in theory) I should be able to just install my buisness software and restore from backup as it has "backup & restore" features (which I have done to 2 seperate HD's as this is important stuff) (20 yrs buisness records)

I'm not exactly sure how to wipe it all clean and reinstall the OS's.

Also, I know Raid1 would be better for security? But leaving it the way it is , is ok with me. I backup the important stuff to other HD's all the time. (this machine was originally built for gaming and thats why Raid0 was used for the speed. back in the day this machine was top notch, hell, its still fast)

Any recommendations, suggestions and instructions welcome.

Answer:Wipe and reinstall fresh with Raid 0

If you are just using the motherboard's RAID features, you probably won't even notice when installing Windows 7. Windows XP might not have the needed drivers. Either way, you can download them from the motherboard manufacturer's website and put them on a floppy, if need be.

Usually with motherboard RAID, you just use the controls built into the BIOS to wipe the RAID and start over, which will in turn destroy all data on the drives and get it ready for a new Windows installation.

RAID-1 (Mirroring) will do nothing for security. Please remember that RAID is NEVER a backup.

Hello, any help would be greatly appreciated as this frustrating problem has been happening for months.

So I have a Toshiba Z20T-B laptop with a copy of Windows 10 Pro reinstalled only 3 days ago. The problems were occurring before that too.

The computer has BSOD'd three times since, with either IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or FAULTY_HARDWARE_CORRUPTED_PAGE errors.

Log files are here:
DESKTOP-1G32BVF-Sun_11_12_2016_142548_76.zip

I have tested the memory thoroughly overnight and it didn't find any errors and I've updated the BIOS to the latest version (6.1). I've also replaced what was thought to be a problematic driver, the touchpad, with an older version. I have also tried following the guide here to read the BSOD's but couldn't find anything.

It's failed twice waking up out of standby and once while idle.

Thank-you for your time.

Edit: Ran the long test on Seatools last night, didn't fail either. Should also mention this issue occurred as well before I had both the motherboard and the RAM (soldered-on) replaced because it failed.

My Win 10 install seemed to get corrupted, lost the link to the new browser from the task bar and start menu and couldn't load an important program (Schwab street smart edge). So, I went back to Win 7 as the 30 trial period was almost over.

I am now invited to upgrade to Win 10 again using the exact same screen and language as the first time. It says nothing about whether it will give me a completely fresh install or revert back to the corrupt one. Does any one know what I will get? Also, will I get a fresh 30 days to revert to Win 7 again?

By the way, Win 10 is working fine on two other computers that I have upgraded.

Answer:Went back to Win 7. If I reinstall Win 10. will it be a fresh install?

You can upgrade again or you can do a Clean Install (what you called fresh) using the Media Creation Tool.

Hi,

What is the difference of doing a reset vs. wiping all partitions and reinstalling from media? Assume it's the reset that does not preserve user files. Of course the user has backed-up important files.

Is there a difference in action, or qualifiers to the answer to question posed above if the user upgrade from 7 to 10 vs. the had 10 from the start?

It seems to me that a PC performs "better" after wiping everything and doing a fresh install from media (after adding missing drivers etc...), but maybe I'm imagining it. And reset can sometimes freeze-up(?)

When would you do one vs. the other?

Thanks.

Answer:Reset vs fresh Reinstall from Media

I've tested both methods... honestly, I don't see any difference, refresh actually reinstalls windows, and you can even wipe partitions or not...
A good thing from MS I must say, unless the instalation gets completely corrupted, refreshing is such a time saver...

I recently reinstalled windows 7, and my video card has been acting up ever since the reinstall.

- "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error message. This only happens when i play CounterStrike Global Offensive.
- Games such as League of Legends freeze up every 30 seconds or so for a second then continue back to normal.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, and when monitoring the temperature it seems fine.

I'm having problems with the Fujitsu UH572 laptop; for those that don't know, this laptop comes with a built-in 32gb msata drive and a 500gb HDD. I wiped both drives a while back and set up dual boot (Ubuntu 14.04 and Win8.1), but had too many issues with Ubuntu and decided to wipe everything and reinstall Windows again. However, even after a fresh install, my computer doesn't boot anymore. Here's what I've tried:
Diskpart

cleaned both drives
select disk 0 (the 500gb one)
create partition primary
formatted partition (format fs=ntfs label="500GB" quick
select volume 1
assign letter=C

I then rebooted with the installation USB (burned a Win8.1 .iso onto it) and installed windows onto the 500gb drive. Theoretically, the computer should be fine now; Windows automatically creates an EFI partition on a new drive (I think...) so it should have also recreated the boot files. However, I still can't boot the laptop without my USB. When I don't have the USB plugged in, I get the 0xc000000f error; when it IS plugged in, I can boot, but I have to leave the USB in 24/7 or I'm unable to put the computer to sleep or reboot it. Any ideas...? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Can't boot (0xc000000f) - fresh reinstall

Addendum: the mSATA SSD doesn't show up in BIOS or Windows Explorer (when I manage to boot into Win8.1), but Ubuntu detects it just fine if I overwrite the (nonfunctional) Windows installation I have with Ubuntu 14.04.

Have a Lenovo H420 desktop that was upgraded about 2 months ago. We backed up everything and want to reinstall Windows 7.

But I can find no way to get into the Setup screen. I've gone to Settings, Update & Security, Advanced Startup and Restart Now. But I have no option to Use a Device. If I choose Troubleshoot then Advanced Options, the subsequent screen has no option for UEFI Firmware Settings.

I've disabled Fast Boot through Power Options in the Control Panel, then tried F2 and the Delete key when starting. Nothing...

The fact that I can't do something that was so easy in Windows 7 is enough reason in itself to remove 10. Throw in the fact that the scanner part of my printer no longer works is just icing on the cake. I have the Windows 7 disk. I just can't figure out how to use it.

The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

Answer:Windows Photo Viewer; sorting order not the same as view order

Hi!

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently as well, I have the same problem and I also have a solution. However, I do not know, if it is ideal. :-)

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

Non-solution:
I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

Solution:

Solution:
For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

Hey all,

I recently got my computer back from the computer fixing guy (because I killed the master boot record and I had no idea how to fix it) and it's a lot slower than it was before. It was a clean install of XP, and the only difference I can see is that the computer magician installed PC-cillin on it. It's not any specific program that's slow now either. Firefox, IE, Unreal Tournament, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Civilization 4, all the stuff I usually use is equally slow, and the heavier applications, like Civ 4 are consistently crashing on me.

I've tried disabling some thing at bootup that I probably don't need using msconfig, but it doesn't help by any measurable amount.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Computer extremely slow after fresh reinstall of XP

In my opinion, Trend Micro's PC-cillin has gone the way of Norton and McAfee and gotten WAY too big. The resources required for these behemoths is crazy. I recommend downloading and use Grisoft's AVG Antivirus. You can get a free copy (for home use) from http://free.grisoft.com.

Hi
I have been having trouble getting a couple of applications to install and work. I have tried everything and exhausted the technical help from the software providers.
So I am considering doing a clean install from scratch.
i.e.
1- Install and update windows 7 64 professional. And do all the updates
2- Install the bios software and updates from ASUS. (This wont install and run at the moment)
3- Install Reasonables NoClone (This wont install and run at the moment)
4- Reinstall or put back all the other applications

I have many many applications on my computer. Is there a simple or automated way (or an app) which can
a) create a list of all the software currently on my computer?
b) grab all the license codes?
c) reinstall them with the license codes and updates?

Hello sevenforum gurus! A brief rundown:

I recently (yesterday) reinstalled 7 Home Prem SP1 with all post SP1 updates added (except KB's 2533552, 971033 MSRT & Visual C++ SP1 Redist & the recently added 2993651 which I've chosen to hold off for the time being) using SIW2's excellent Update-win7v5.CMD & tweaked settings, etc with Wincert's WinToolkit... only things "added" were an addon for DotNet 4.5.2 & some custom themepacks, nothing was removed... so imagine my surprise when running WU/ MS Update I was offered KB976932 @ 9.1 mb (screenshot attached) I unchecked this of course, installed the other 4, rebooted and manually checked WU... KB976932 was gone.

Has anyone else seen/noticed this behavior before, and if so to what do you/did you attribute it to? Ex: possible cause(s). Thanks in advance for the anticipated knowledgeable/logical & yes even whimsical responses I've grown accustomed to here @ sevenforums, like Brink says (paraphrasing) There's no silly questions only silly people who don't ask them.

You guys & gals R. O. C. K - ROCK!

Answer:Fresh reinstall 7SP1 first run WU offers KB976932 (9.1 mb) WTH????

I've seen a few inexplicable things from Windows Update. Usually it's being repeatedly offered an update that is already installed.

That particular update you mentioned looks familiar to my eye, but I can't say if it was one of the updates that I'd previously found peculiar.

I ran a search of my hard drive and find that "windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe" is the name assigned to Service Pack 1 (903 mb in size).

Hmmmm..........

I would not get feverish over it and would disregard it unless you develop problems. Chalk it up to being one of thousands of things we can't ultimately explain about Windows.

Got a problem that's got me stumped.

When trying to load Dell/OEM installed XP, I get a blue screen of death indicating it is a REGISTRY_ERROR. When I try to start in safe mode, I get the same BSOD. I then found an XP disk and tried this official solution: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545.

My problem: when I tried to use repair from XP install disk, I must select the copy of XP to install. (Only one option, since only one copy installed.) When I select it, it looks for the existing install and Wham - back to the same BSOD.

I next gave up on repair and tried to reinstall XP. That process also looks for previously installed copies and - of course - again caused the BSOD to come up.

Is there a way to do a new install without searching for existing installs? Or maybe I should ask how to wipe existing install so I can do new install? Or is there another way I can correct what appears to be a corrupt registry?

Mucho gracias.

Evening

I was getting the BSOD so I reinstalled Windows7 on to my SSD.
I downloaded all the motherboard drivers and video card drivers from the web before I reinstalled.
But I kept getting the BSOD. I did a bit of research and downloaded the Windows debugging tool and found out it was nvlddmkm.sy_ causing all the problems. uninstalled the nvidia drivers, ran driver sweeper and rebooted. then looked in C drive for nvlddmkm i found 2 from 2009 that I can't rename or delete. I tried to change permissions, it let me but now i need permission from myself to change it, clicking try again does nothing. I haven't gone in to safe mode to try and rename them yet. Might be my next stop.

anyway Please see attached files as requested.

I'm not sure if it will work for those old files, but run Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode. It's supposed to be run in Safe Mode anyway (that is, after uninstalling the Display Driver in normal mode).

Thanks,
James

Ok as the title says I recently did a fresh reinstall of my copy of Vista Home Premium. Everything seems to be going reasonably well so far except that when I check my list of devices in Device Manager, my ethernet controller has a yellow exclamation mark next to it (actually there is an "unknown device" with the same thing as well but I will worry about that if it becomes a problem).

When I try to update the driver, Vista fails to find anything and informs me that it might not be compatible.....which cant be right as it was running fine before the reinstall.

Anyway after some searching online I discover that I can get the relevant driver from the relevant manufacturer. Who is the manufacturer of the ethernet card I ask myself. Buggered if I know is my reply (my computer was put together by someone else).

So I stumbled across this seemingly nifty piece of software called Sandra by a company called SiSoftware. With its devine help (it does seem pretty nice to use actually considering I know nothing about this stuff) I believe I have discovered that the manufacturer is Asus and the chipset number (is that the right term?) is P5LD2-SE. However Sandra also shows up something called "Coreco RT8129 Fast Ethernet Adapter". Hmmmm.

Would anyone have any divine words of wisdom (and perhaps some links) on how I might go about locating the relevant driver for this ethernet controller? I am fortunate to have access to a usb wireless adapter but its not mine... Read more

:Currently posting from my laptop:

4 days ago my World of Warcraft account got hacked. I scanned my computer using AVAST antivirus and SpyBot Search and Destroy. Sure enough, the little bastard was found and deleted. I proceeded to change my password and everything was fine. 2 days ago I decided it was about time to wipe clean my hard drives and reinstall the OS. I decided to reinstall Windows XP on the basis that it requires less resources. Sure enough, I did that and for about a day there was nothing wrong up until I installed AVAST. AVAST warned me about a virus threat. I pressed the "delete" button and the threat seemed gone until AVAST would again warn me that a virus had been found. I ran a scan and sure enough it found 6 viruses all of which it claimed it had deleted. The next day I couldn't log on(this was due to my own fault. I messed around with the wrong registry keys in order to delete the said virus) so I had to reinstall my OS again.

After the reinstall I started reinstalling my programs, antivirus(this time I went with Bit Defender) and games. My World of Warcraft account was hacked again and I immediately ran a scan using Bit Defender. It found 10 viruses, one of which was a generic trojan. It removed everything apart from that one. I couldn't quarantine it nor delete it. I downloaded a number of malware and adware removal programs(ad-aware, spyware doctor, trojan removal). Before I ran the scans I unplugged my computer from the internet... Read more

I am completely at my wits end. I have been battling some hellish malware for months now. I have done just about everything I can think of, from using crazy passwords, changing the obvious settings prone to weakness, uncheck Remote access, disable built in admin, disabling shares, strict firewall settings, different firewalls, different AV software, just about everything really, anti-spyware. I have used about every advanced malware discovery out there to no avail, from tdsskiller, combofix, Reanimator, ansMBR, etc.. All come up blank.

The obvious normal signs of something being infected are there. Sudden dropping of firewall, suddenly being denied access to areas, finding services running that should be disabled, noting my av software isn't working properly. Lots of instances of svchost running, far more than reasonable, with the wrong PID, access level. Auditing in cmd environment and seeing unknown open ports, foreign addresses, not accountable to any legitimate service, etc.

To make matters worse, when I actively try to make changes preventing access, I find my own account changed, anything from my search function disabled to all admin tool (mmc) locked out. Piling on, this infection is not only nasty, it's aggressive, it won't hesitate to actually remove my account from all groups, basically locking me out of my own computer. Add to this a particular intelligence, and it's any computer users worst nightmare.

When I tried to limit services, the next time I wou... Read more

My windows7 64bit installation is fine the way it is.

I know it is possible to save the installed updates/fixes which are somewhere on my disk in a windows-folder. I read this somewhere. And later reinstall them all together if I need to reinstall windows7 from the original ISO (which does not have the updates). How do I do this can you guys give me a detailed walk-through?

Also, does it matter in which order I reinstall these updates/fixes with a fresh install of windows7? When I got the updates online I think I remember that some updates were installed in a particular order. So maybe this is important.

Answer:How to save & reinstall installed updates/fixes with fresh install?

The order is important. That's why it is better to rely on the automatic update. And also, by the time you reinstall (if ever) some of the old updates may have been superseeded by newer ones. A 'manual intervention' is not worth it and bears a lot of risks.

If you want to avoid having to reinstall from scratch one day, make periodic images (with free Macrium). Then you can always go back to a prior image and avoid the painful update process.

I installed W8 back when W8 launched in October with W8 Pro 64 bit. Since it was during school, I opted for a upgrade instead of a fresh install to keep my files intact. Now, my PC is running into various issues from time to time (drivers, slow downs, freezes etc) I also have huge partition files (multiple ones) that seem useless and are taking up space. I want to do a fresh install this time. My question, will doing a fresh install affect the usability of the recovery button on the left side of the laptop? I really find that feature useful and would like to be able to use it in the future if anything happens, if I go ahead and do a fresh install does that button become useless? Thank you

Answer:Will A Fresh Reinstall of W8 on Ideapad U410 affect the Recovery Button?

hi Samoon,

One Key Recovery (button or software) will no longer work if you upgraded / clean installed Windows 8 on a Windows 7 system - see this Windows 8 Upgrade Guide for the list of softwares that are affected. To verify this, try to press the One Key Recovery button.

If it's not working, backup your files and Refresh Windows 8 or do a clean install.

Hope this helps

I bought my online upgrade and let it proceed from W7 and later downloaded and burned the .iso, so what I have is a true upgrade from W7 and not a clean install. I really have no big issues, just anoyances really, with my live tiles.

My Live tiles don't update them selves unless I open them first. What I mean is for example; the wikipedia tile gives me sugested articles in the live tile, however if I don't open it, it keeps the same info from the day prior. Same goes for the dictionary tile, it should give me the word of the day, unless I open it the tile never refreshes and stays on the previous word. I won't even get into the Mail app and tile that don't notify or update unless I open it.

My question is would any of you try a clean install to fix this? I really hate to reinstall all my programs, but really what's the point in a live tile if it isn't actually live

I guess I am just wondering what some of you gurus would try to fix this little quirk or if anyone else has this problem?

Thanks

Geeve

Answer:thoughts from gurus on a fresh reinstall live tile issues.

I've seen this happen when I hibernate my puter many times during the day and resume from hibernate. Sometimes it isn't connected to the network, and when I do, the tiles will usually refresh. Sometimes not, but when I restart they will refresh.

Don't know if this helps, but might help.

Hello guys,

A month back i purchased an SSD for my old HP envy laptop(purchased in 2010).
I removed the old harddrive and chuked in the ssd in its place and reinstalled the windows home prem x64 edition using the the key extracted from my windows installation on my old harddrive.

Everything seemed to be running well then and windows update downloaded a ton of updates since then

But suddenly since yesterday i kept getting the "copy not genuine error" windows build 7601

I ran check disk and it showed no errors.
Is there a way to make my copy of windows run on my ssd properly ?
I still have the one installed on my old harddisk (currently its lying around without being used ..probably it will run fine if i chuck it back in place of ssd - but i want to use my ssd)

Ohh and for ssd optimization i stopped quite a few services like indexing , system restore , date stamping and what not .. i dont remember all could this be the reason for genuine verification error ??

Also i ran a malware check using the malwarebytes soft - a quick scan turned up nothing.

I just freshly formatted and reinstalled windows and was wondering if there is a guide to showing the BEST way, or order, to install drivers for the OS.

I'm curious as to whether it matters if I install SP2 first, my ATI drivers, DX9, etc etc.

Thanks for the help.

Answer:Fresh Install / Format. Driver Install Order?

I tend to install the OS with the latest SP slipstreamed.

Drivers in this order: mobo, video, sound, misc.
DX.
windows update.
3rd party software.

There is no "correct" order for the whole mess. There are lots of things you could swap places, and it wouldn't matter one bit.

My hardrive crashed some time ago. Vista backed up everything on the fresh install into "C:\BACKUP."
I have deleted many subfolders, but it will not let me delete certain subfolders in the backup. I am the administrator and I unchecked 'read-only' attribute for each folder/subfolder I want to delete. It seems Vista wants the old administrator privilege to delete a certain folder/subfolder.

So what is next step?

Answer:Difficult problem (tricky) about deleting Vista backup folder on fresh reinstall.

Try This

1. Right click on folder (Context menu appears.)
2. Select "Properties" ("[Folder Name] Properties" dialog appears.)
3. Click the "Security" tab.
4. Click "Advanced" button (Advanced Security Settings for [Folder Name] appears.)
5. Click "Owner" tab.
6. Click "Edit" button.
7. Click new owner's name in "Change owner to" box.
8. Click box to check "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".
9. Click "Apply" button. ("Changing ownership of..." progress message appears.)
10. Click "Yes" to acknowledge "Windows Security" warning.
11. Click OK to close topmost "Advanced Security Settings" dialog.
12. Click "Permissions" tab (first tab) on current "Advanced Security Settings" dialog.
13. Click "Edit" button.
14. Click to select the Administrator in the "Permission Entries" box.
15. NOTE: If "Administrator" appears more than once, select the one that has "Subfolders and files only" in the "Apply To" column.

My music computer started having problems with Windows 98 locking up at irregular intervals, and after a while the thing simply wouldn't boot up all the time. The lockups had been getting worse, so naturally I thought I had been vicitimized by some spyware/adware/virus infection and took measures. After countless hours, I finally gave up and bought a new hard drive, installed it, and put on a fresh copy of Windows 98 SE from my recovery CD.

It worked fine - for a while.

Now the computer is exhibiting the same symptoms with the new drive as it did with the old drive. I tried running the Seagate SeaTools to see if I could find any abmormalities and it checked out fine. What is odd is that the computer locks up at no particular place, with no particular interval of time. Quite often I can't even get it past the Windows splash screen.

My uneducated opinion is that this has to be a hardware issue, and I'm feeling frustrated by my inability to isolate the problem. If anyone can make suggestions as how I should proceed, I would be very grateful, indeed.

The computer has an AMD Athlon processor with 512 MB of RAM installed on an Azza 366X AS motherboard by the manufacturer, CyberPower Inc... It clocks around 1.4 ghz... The computer has a CD-R/RW, a Toshiba DVD-ROM, a 1.44 floppy drive, a Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 5.1, GeForce 64 meg video adaptor, a 56k modem, a Turbolink switching power supply (375atx) and extra cooling fans. I have tried seemingly everything bar reinstalling Windows 10 to try to get Firefox to work again.

I've moved my profile to an external HDD, and deleted everywhere I know that Firefox is located:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox (OR)C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla FirefoxC:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Mozilla\FirefoxC:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Mozilla\updatesC:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Mozilla FirefoxPlus even the 'roaming' ones, too
AND used the Advanced scan with Revo Uninstaller to remove every other trace of Firefox - registry included.

But after [the ridiculously long process of] reinstalling firefox, the same error message still keeps appearing!
I've ran out of ideas (and running out of patience) as to why it still keeps saying this.

I don't know if it's just because my computer's so old or not, but seems to take at least something like 10 minutes to install it! And to keep on trying to uninstall it and reinstalling it all the time seems to take forever.

Any help will be much appreciated. I don't like the other webbrowsers, and for the time being I'm using a Mozilla-based on called CLIQZ - but I can't install any addons to it, as it's a "privacy browser".
*edit* sorry, didn't see the 'Browsers and Email' section there, my bad

Hi everyone,I want to remove everything from my computer, wipe it totally clean and reinstall Vista from the installation disk, and I've been having some problems.I first tried booting the disk from the desktop, and when it asked me which partition I'd like to use (I only have the one) I chose the one that the current VIsta install is on, thinking it would overwrite it, wiping out all those files. But its telling me I don't have enough disk space to do that (theres only about 10 gb left of harddrive space). So then I changed the boot sequence and rebooted directly from the Vista disk, thinking from there I could delete the partition and reinstall. But the only options it gives me are to do a system restore or restore from a backup. So basically I just want to completely wipe everything off my computer, then insert the Vista disk and install Vista. I have everything I need already backed up on an external. Can anyone tell me how to delete my entire OS?Thanks,Nick

Hi,I've an approved RMA for full refund for an X230 that I'd purchased from Depot. The restocking fee was waived as I'd ordered another X230 (better EPP deal).I shipped back the unopened X230 and Lenovo acknowledged the receipt of the laptop on Feb 5. And since then there has been no update on my refund. I was told it would take 6 business days for the refund to be posted back to my account. Now it's over 2 weeks and when I contacted post sales support - this is the reply I got from them: *************Hi,We regret to inform you that i am unable to get any information on this order, I am still working on your order. Once we get the information on the refund i will keep you updated on the same For further assistance please feel free to email me back and i will be glad to assist you Regards *************So what are my options now. An answer like "i am unable to get any information on this order" from customer care themselves doesn't really inspire confidence with Lenovo. The second X230 that I'd ordered, has issues with the IPS display having a yellow tint and the touchpad being super jumpy. Had sent it to their repair center who unfortunately were not able to see the problems at first but later accepted the problem with the touchpad alone and they're getting the laptop re-imaged. Display is as designed according to them. They're sending it back now. Will wait and see. If I still see the display problem, will get it returned. Thank you Lenovo, for that amazing buyi... Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

Answer:Dell site says XPS 15 gets delivered in 1-3 days, the order date for my order is 2 weeks from now...

Generally when that happens there has been a burst of orders, or there is a part on back order and the sales site hasn't been updated yet.  The delivery times are just estimates and could be sooner or later depending on various conditions.

This is my Order Number: 2FFVLJI've always owned a Thinkpad for the past 10 years and am a staunch Thinkpad fan.  The R60 and Z60m have been reliable and faithful companions.  I have been recommending Thinkpad to my colleagues and friends.  Hence when I needed a new laptop, I went directly to lenovo's site and ordered a T510 (Web Special) on 4th August 2010 using a valid credit card.  For two days the status was "in process".  On Aug 6th, I was unable to login in usng the cust no and order no to see the status.  When I called the sales customer service, I was informed that the order was cancelled from lenovo's side.  They pointed me to the credit card department for further information.  When I called the credit card department, they claimed information mismatch as the reason for the cancellation but they could not point out what exactly was the mismatch.  I can assure you that the card is valid.  Currently I'm not able to place another order for the same model from lenovo's site as it is no longer available.  This is very regretful as I was really looking forward to getting my laptop of choice.  I tried calling the sales dept but they are not available as it is weekend now (everyone needs a break )  So I have emailed them for help.  I'm yet to get a response.  This has been a nail biting experience.  I'm anxiously waiting for the response from the sales dept.   Will it be possibl... Title says it all. My computer is very sick and I've received an error message today saying windows must be reinstalled, insert the reinstallation dvd. I don't have that disk anymore though I do still have the product key.

What should I do?

Answer:How do I reinstall windows 7 if I've lost the reinstall disk?

You may need to buy a new one. Do you have a recovery partition on your hard drive?

That is a very strange message, though. Are you sure you're not infected? Where and when did you see such a message?

This is on an old eMachines M6805 laptop that originally came with XP 32-bit. I put a fresh install of Windows 7 32-bit on it which ran fine. I then upgraded that to Windows 10 32-bit. The first time it booted up I was able to log in but got a BSOD shortly thereafter. Ever since it BSODs without even getting to the desktop. The only way I have been able to even get into it is via Safe Mode so I assume it is a driver that it doesn't like but I don't know how to figure out which driver is causing a problem (odd that it all worked fine in Win 7, though).

Any help is appreciated.

Hi huhqwerty,

Welcome to the 10forums.

The crashes are caused by extremely old audio drivers.
Updating them could solve it.

Hi. I have installed a whole new windows 7 pro x64. My new mobo an ASus p5e3 pro along with new ram pc12800 gskill 2x2 ddr3 (running in 1066mhz due to my q6600)

Everythingi s running perfectly...except some random BSOD. 4 total this week.

I have posted a pack of dump file in here, the last 4 ones are the ones that represent the 4 BSOD I had and that I cannot explain.

the others ones are for various reasons, crashes who happenned during installation but that I was able to resolve.

What is weird is that my BSOD only happenned when I was surfing explorer on when the CPU was idle at night, with utorrent running.
today mc pc got BSOD at 11:54 AM after 1 night or running perfectly. it is open since then and running perfectly again.

All the afternoon for 4 hours it loaded utorrent, I cam back from the university and started to play empire total war and lot of MW2 multiplayer.

Everything is working perfectly, no BSOD !! But I'm afraid to leave my pc open this night...when the BSOD happen I usually have to reboot manually because if it reboot by itself it lead to a DOS screen saying to select a boot device.
Help me someone... I cannot believe me G-skill memory are faulty, otherwise they would have failed in-game.

I suspect nvidia drivers 195.62 can be responsible for thoses bluescreen. The power management tool is not working properly and whatever the option I choose in the nvidia panel it will sometimes lower my frequencies and sometimes it will keep the stock one.

I'm sorry but I'm new at this but I'm at a loss at what I'm suppose to do. Just got in the mail 2 ssd's and the HD7870 video card along with a copy of windows 8.1 complete (retail). My boot ssd (one I'm trying to install on) is a 60gb Mushkin and the other is the one I was going to put games on the 240gb Mushkin.

So I hooked the 60gb one up and put in my install disk for the 64bit of windows 8.1. It went through the install fine, then it said it needed to restart to complete and when it restarted it gave me the black screen of death. It sat there for over 30 minutes then the screen turned to a yellowish orange.

So I formatted the ssd, reinstalled fresh again. Same thing.

I then tried the 240gb thinking maybe I had a bad ssd. Same thing.

Then I tried an old 500gb Seagate that I knew worked but I formatted it and installed. Same thing.

So back to the 60gb I went, formatted, reinstalled 8.1 then it did the black screen again. So I tried booting over a couple times till it gave me the option to start in safe mode with networking. It started in a black screen with the blue windows logo... and stayed there for an hour.

I then tried the command prompt methods of BOOTREC/FIXMBR, BOOTREC/FIXBOOT, BOOTREC/REBUILDBCD and restarted with same black screen. *after the rebuildbcd, it said copies of windows = 0???*

So I tried to start using the install CD as a recovery drive, it brought up the option to install windows....

I'm not sure how I can get dumps or test st... Read more

Answer:Fresh install on Fresh SSD of 8.1, restarts into BSOD

Hi MitchellTyner,

First, I looked up your motherboard and it does not formally support any OS beyond Windows 7 so that could be an issue right off the bat; however, if you are running the latest BIOS, you could try and set your BIOS to default values and try that clean install without the 7870 first. Then, if it works, you could try installing the 7870 thereafter. BTW, good luck in finding all the correct drivers for your older hardware as well.

I've upgraded my T440 to Windows 10 and the latest mousepad driver seems to be giving me issues. With the Synaptics driver 19.0.17.27 installed, trying to select a new window to make it top most will often fails. That window will hide behind other windows. If I try to uninstall the Synaptics driver once, the window z-order issue will be fixed, but the driver is like half uninstalled and most mousepad function will no longer work (2 finger stroll, right click, button press)  The input cursor will also jump around too while I tried to type. Is Lenovo aware of this issue? I think I've seen another person in another forum mention this.  This is becoming quite frustrating for me.

We have until July 11 or so to pre-order Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional for about 1/2 price ($50 and $99 respectively). Which version would you put on your s10?When I look at the feature comparisons it looks like Windows XP mode probably is the only thing I'd use from Professional that Home Premium doesn't have. Or is there other stuff in Professional that they aren't mentioning?ggeinecMessage Edited by ggeinec on 06-28-2009 12:21 PM

Answer:Windows 7 pre-order

As far as I know the Windows XP mode (Windows Virtual PC) requires the virtualization technology Intel VT or AMD-V. The N270 does not support this feature and therefore it should not work on the S10. The Professional Edition also features the offline files for network shares, for my opinion a necessary function for mobile devices. Anyone else?  Greetings Carsten

Alt + Tab order runs in order of most recently used (MRU) to least recent.  I want to change this order to a static order that I opened each program.
Example:  I open program 1, 2, 3, 4.  If I'm on window #1, I alt+tab, I go to window #2, I alt+tab again I go to window #1, I alt+tab, again I go to window #2.  From what I read this is called most recently used (MRU) order.
I would like to start on window #1, alt+tab, go to window #2, alt+tab, go to window #3, alt+tab, go to window #4.  I have no idea what this is called and thus searching for an answer is hard.

Please and thank you.
Also hotkeys/macros might be a work around but I don't know how to set that up and the total number of open windows is variable...
