Lenovo S10e bluetooth stopped working - device not found / USB device not recognised.

Question: Lenovo S10e bluetooth stopped working - device not found / USB device not recognised.

Hello, For no reason that I know of, the bluetooth facility on my little S10e has stopped working. I noticed a couple of times when shutting down I got a "BTstackserver" not responding message. I use the laptop to regularly download from a bluetooth enabled device. today, when I go to connect, I am told 'bluetooth device not found'.'Verify that your bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on'. The hardware manual shows the LED config and this is correct, If I press 'Fn' and 'F5' keys, I get the menu to turn on and off both the wireless and Bluetooth. I can enable and disable both wireless and Bluetooth with this menu option BUT when I enable bluetooth, I get the message 'One of the USB devices attached to the system has malfunctioned or is not recognised'. I have removed the installed Bluetooth software and re-installed using both bluetooth install files published on my S10e drivers list on lenovo. Neither one works. I know that you need to install from C:\DRIVERS dir once the installer has finished unpacking. I have tried various other obvious things but with no success. I also enabled 'Bluetooth co-operation' in the wireless lan settings. All I can do now is get at the Bluetooth device under the keyboard cover and have a look at that? Anyone got any suggestions before I get the screwdriver out? (The device is out of warranty).

Preferred Solution: Lenovo S10e bluetooth stopped working - device not found / USB device not recognised.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was just working happily when my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse just suddenly stopped working.
The Bluetooth settings page says "Bluetooth is turned off" and there are no options on the settings page or the system tray to turn Bluetooth on.
The Device Manager now has "Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed" where it did not before.
Other devices all seem to be working fine - USB devices plugged in are being recognized and work properly. Only BT seems to be broken.
I've tried:
uninstalling the device and rebooting
installing the latest updated chipset drivers from the dell website
windows updates
pretty much all of the advice here: http ://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-usb-device-not-recognized-device-descriptor-request-failed

Any other ideas?
Thanks

Answer:XPS 15 9550 Bluetooth stopped working (Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed)

So in desperation I just went into BIOS settings to see if there are any BT settings that may have become disabled. I didn't see any, and I didn't change any other settings.
After rebooting, BT and my mouse is now working again.
Something seems to be really flaky here, but hopefully this will help others with the same issue.

My R61i has Bluetooth Enumerator shown inside Device manager (working good) and I also installed the thinkVantage access connections trying to turn bluetooth on using the Radio button and I can't find any bluetooth device. The Fn-F5 just shows the Wireless card turned on which is working fine but my bluetooth device can't be reached. If I click the menu TOOLS inside thinkVantage access conections the Bluetooth device appears gray and I can't access it. I installed the latest version of Thinkpad bluetooth with enhanced rate and nothing changes. It seems to be a hardware problem but I'd like to see first if somebody has any similar problem. By the way, I'm using Windows Vista 32bits and my model is the R61i 8918-A16. regards

I bought a pair of headphones (Philips SHB7000). They work with my phone and Nexus. However, when I tried to connect them to my Acer Aspire V5 they got connected but after one second they disconnected. I tried again, and the same happened. I started to troubleshoot and  updated the BT driver (though it was updated) but nothing happened. Eventually I uninstalled the BT-device (Atheros). I downloaded the latest driver (again) från Acer website and reinstalled it. But now the BT device is no longer visible in the device manager or the start up screen...  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the correct (acccordning to acer support download) driver. No errors during installation. But I cannot get the unknown USB device to understand that it's a BT device. Even though it's an unknown device the computer doesn't promt this at start up. If I try to search for "new devices" it's not found. BT is forever lost on my Acer! Suggestions? RegardsJohn

Hello!

So I did some searching for a way to fix this problem but I believe that my problem is different than the Bluetooth Peripheral Device problem that most people have.

I am NOT trying to connect a cell phone to my laptop. I am not trying to connect anything I don't think (unless my bluetooth mouse counts?).

I have no idea what a Bluetooth Peripheral Device is. I took some screenshots of the messages I receive every time a wake my computer up or turn it on. (1st, smaller picture)

It tries to update a driver but always fails and gives me this. (2nd, larger picture)

The suggestion my laptop gives me is this

There may be an easy solution to this, but I feel really lost right now.

Thanks in advance!

Okay. My little brother was on my dad's computer. He was playing a flash game and listening to music on WMP. Suddenly, WMP came up with an error saying the media was corrupt, and the blue screen of death came up. I didn't see what the blue screen's error was, but when the computer reset, it came up with "Boot Device Not Found".

We reset the computer manually, letting it sit for a minute unplugged. It booted up slower than normal, but otherwise properly. We then ran chkdsk, it said that the Master File Table's BITMAP was incorrect. We then ran chkdsk /scan as it told us to, and it said there were no errors in the filesystem.

Are the errors gone? If not, what should I do to fix them?

Answer:Computer suddenly stopped working, "Boot Device Not Found"

I would suggest that you download and run SeaTools to see if there is a problem with the hdd.

Hello everyone, Since monday I have some problems with fingerprint authentication via Windows Hello. It seems to have stopped working for some reasons I don't know. At the beginning, I thought it was a hardware issue but it doesn't seems to be. I'll explain why. Problem description:  When I try to authenticate via fingerprint, OS redirects me to PIN authentication automatically. So I removed my saved fingerprint and tried to set the same fingerprint (and others). But now I can't add a new fingerprint, Windows Hello seems to be inert. My fingerprint device doesn't work. When I removed my PIN and retried to set a fingerprint, my fingerprint device works and detects my finger. Then I've added a new PIN to enable Windows Hello. But neither my PIN nor my fingerprint was saved.  Attempts to fix the problem: - I tried to update driver, I have the last one (5.1.324.26). I tried to uninstall it then reboot, nothing happens;- Via administrative templates, try to enable it on Windows Components, nothing happens;- Reset fingerprint settings into BIOS/ Security then F10, nothing happens;- Tried to recover Windows with keeping files, nothing happens. I've made some snapshots of what I'm explaining : Click on Set up fingerprint. Set with PIN already registered. I just have a cancel button and nothing else.Removed PIN before. Fingerprint device worksAdd New PINBut nothing was saved... I'm totally confused. I did have some nasy viruses infected my computer a while back, and I have had to reinstall alot. I know that it use to be on my computer, but now it is gone.

Answer:Bluetooth Device not found

Hi

First off stop panicking, if it was there before then odds on it will still be there somewhere, take a deep breath and check the following,

Go into the BIOS and check that the Bluetooth function is enabled, to enter the BIOS look at the start up screen as your PC comes to life for a message such as "press ... to enter BIOS/Setup.

Go to dells website here, put in your service tag and check for any drivers related to Bluetooth, if there is any download them and install them, but check the above first, there is no point installing a driver if the device is disabled.

Post back and let us know, oh and the model of the laptop is a good idea.

I have a DELL INSPIRON 1520 LAPTOP....i bought it with VISTA...then after a year i upgraded to windows 7. Its been so annoying when it comes to devices.

Now i have problems with my integrated bluetooth. i downloaded a driver from dell, but it wouldnt continue with the instalation because it cant find my bluetooth! I know i have it, it appeared on control panel when i had vista.....now i want to install a bluetooth mouse and it wont let me.

How do i turn on my bluetooth? or how do i activate it?
thanks

Answer:No bluetooth device was found!!

Is the driver is made for Windows 7 and Have you right clicked on the driver file and ran it as an administrator? I would try that first.

If that doesn't work, go to device manager and see how many devices there are with no driver for them, they should be called "unidentified devices" or something similar.

Then try Windows updates if you have not yet, and get it fully updated.

I'll come back to see how it's going.

Hi there,Welcome to the forums! As you don't mention whether you're running Vista or XP, nor did you offer information regarding whether this is a fresh install or a factory default installation, I would offer the following suggestion.Re-install the Bluetooth drivers from Lenovo as per operating system used:XP Bluetooth Drivers (Enhanced Data Rate)- or -Vista Bluetooth Drivers (Enhanced Data Rate)Both are for the T61, but as you see, there are different drivers for each. Once installed, re-boot the machine and then enable the bluetooth radio first by pressing the Fn-F5 combination and then you'll have full access to the little Bluetooth icon in the taskbar.Hope this helps(PS: the detailed installation instructions are included in the appropriate .txt file alongside the bluetooth driver package for each OS).Message Edited by icantux on 05-25-2008 10:33 AM

I think you have answered your own question jgd "although W7 was shown in main ebay product title, only up to Vista is shown in body of ad. Could this be the problem"Microsoft explanation is: "One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner. If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem."It does look as if there are no drivers for Windows 7?

I have been trying to solve this since I got W7. I've been hoping that Microsoft would resolve the issue via automatic updates, and it seems thousands of people are having the same problem. My cell phone's bluetooth pairing is incomplete: Under the hardware tab of the device's properties window: Standard Modem over Bluetooth Link is recognized. Standard Serial over Bluetooth Link (COM4) is recognized. However, there are two (2) "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" which are unrecognized. I did try a solution where someone suggested I manually install two generic COM ports, which "looked" like it worked. The ! was removed from the device and it "appeared" to be fully paired, but I still could not browse my phone or transfer files back and forth from it. Can someone help me, please?! My phone is an LG VX836V02.
Thanks,

Having worked fine for a year, I've recently started having problems with my Dell printer: it will print, and then suddenly (usually halfway through a page) the computer stops recognising the device.

If I switch the printer off and on again, the computer usually recognises it again, and might print another couple of pages, until suddenly it's not recognised and the whole thing starts again.

I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling the printer software, and I've checked all the connections and tried different USB ports but it made no difference. Am wondering whether the problem could be related to the USB drives rather than the printer?

I'm running Windows XP Professional. Error messages etc attached below:

Answer:Dell AIO 942 - USB device working, then randomly not recognised

Just to clarify, the USB drives are all internal. I'm running SP2 with Windows.

Answer:Bluetooth Peripheral Device Driver not found

As you are unable to use the Bluetooth in your system, I suggest you to please press Fn+F5 key to enable the Bluetooth device, and then connect with your phone.

Also you can install the Bluetooth driver from the mentioned web link.

I may have inadvertently powered my bluetooth off or deleted it or something because I have installed the latest drivers from Lenovo, and the device manager shows the bluetooth bus enumerator, but there are no bluetooth headings under "Network Adapters" or "USB Controllers".  Can I fix this?  Thanks for any and all help.

Answer:Integrated Bluetooth device not found by windows

Have you tried using the bluetooth device and then checking? I don't see any bluetooth device unless I am using them ( ATT Tilt and a mouse).  When they are turned on and in use they register in device manager.  So try that and see if Device manager changes.

hi

pls help me

Answer:bluetooth peripheral device driver not found

Go to search
type
device manager
in device manager look for yellow warning markers showing problems
If no problems, go to BT and make sure driver is up to date.

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper

Hi guys,

I downloaded the latest btooth driver available from the support site and proceeded with the installation:

I still proceeded to pair my XPERIA arc S (LT18i) with my N45SF and encountered the following error:

Both devices paired successfully though.
I was able to btooth a file to my phone and playback music from my phone with my laptop as the audio device/speaker.

Despite the seemingly successful pairing (I'm confused why they appear to work), what can be done to get rid of the errors? I have tried automatic driver detection/installation via Windows Update to no avail.

acer aspire 3680 bluetooth device not found

Answer:bluetooth device not found on my acer aspire

On acer laptops, just because there is a bluetooth button and icon does not mean that you have a bluetooth module installed. Check on the spec of your exact model, or see if there is a conformity sticker on the base of the laptop - if it isn't there, you don't have bluetooth."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." I'm running Windows 10 64bit. Before the creators update (1703) everything was running good. After the update I would like to use my sounds boxes again (harman/kardon esquire). This device is supporting:
? Bluetooth version: 4.1
? Support: A2DP v1.3; AVRCP v1.5; HFP v1.6; HSP v1.2
After the update I was looking in the bluetooth section of windows but could not connect. I removed the device in order to pair again but now windows cannot find the device again.
I did the things mentioned in:
this site - Bluetooth devices not showing
The results are: troubleshouter hardware did somethings. Restarted. No luck, restarted bluetooth service and set services to automatic. Solution 3 is not possible as the device is not there. 4) all drivers are up to date.
The boxes are connected to my samsung with no problem.
I drives me crazy. What to do? I do not have a system restore point due to disk space.
Thxs, in advanced for any suggestion.

Was running Win10 with bluetooth perfectly well until a virus hit.
Used Malwarebytes recovery and it found a couple thousand issues. Told it to fix everything and computer bricked.
Took it to a local tech while on vacation in Mexico. Had a clean Win10 install done. It was a problem for the tech. He seems to have turned off UEFI to get legacy USB to work so he could clean install Win10. My only problem is no bluetooth.
Device Manager does not list Bluetooth.
Settings: Devices: does not list Bluetooth on the left side.
I installed current Broadcom Bluetooth driver and it said successful.
I checked Services and it says Bluetooth Support Service is running. And Bluetooth Handsfree Service is also running.
Tried uninstalling wireless device, and that didn't help.
Please.

Answer:Asus X205TA clean install but no bluetooth device found

There is usually a setting in the UEFI Bios to toggle the Bluetooth Device on and off. I would guess it is off now and just needs to be enabled.

Answer:Bluetooth device not found once Vista reset to factory settings?

Prior to resetiing? You mean you used the options to restore to factory condition? Then you almost certainly just need to re-install the driver for the blue-tooth device. Read the manual, or the website support for the laptop, where you will also find the necessary driver if you cant find it on the HDD or CD's that came with the PC

Some time after upgrading to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, my bluetooth stops working every time, I wake it from sleep or hibernating.  Device manager says: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)." - it's working fine after restart. Trtied to uninstall drivers, searched for new hardware, installed newest driver from Windows Update, tried to get the newest from Lenovo, Windows claimed they where older, than the drivers from Windows Update, so I didn't install them. Any Ideas or solutione? Install the older Lenovo drivers anyway?

Hello,

I am not sure if this is the correct location to post this, so if I should post it somewhere else, please let me know.

I am trying to use my bluetooth to connect a ps3 controller. I have successfully been able to do it in the past (I believe the last time was about 1.5-2 years ago). Now when I try to use it, the bluetooth adapter no longer seems to be found. I have looked into updating the drivers but when I run the installation it tells me to enable the bluetooth by using the wireless switch. This switch only affects the wifi and has no effect on bluetooth. When I look in the device manager, there is nothing that seems to show bluetooth. So, I suppose my questions would be, is there away to force an install of a driver? How would I uninstall a current driver to try for a clean install of new drivers? And finally, would all this even point to a driver issue or has my bluetooth hardware just died on me?

Thanks for any help, sorry if there is more information I should post for this that I have failed to mention. Please let me know what is needed, and probably how to get it, I am not necessarily the greatest with all the in depth technical computer know how.

-Nick

I paired Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse to my Windows 7 Professional x64 HP ZBook 14 which is connected to my company's corporate domain. Everything worked beautifully until they had to re-image my PC to resolve a disk encryption issue. That issue is resolved, but I have had bad luck getting my keyboard and mouse to pair and remain connected ever since. However, that's not even the problem now. After troubleshooting my Bluetooth issues by installing different driver versions, pairing and un-pairing my keyboard and mouse, changing settings in Bluetooth Support Service and more, I now have two Bluetooth Peripheral devices that always appear in Device Manager. I believe these are remnants of previously paired devices, but I can not get rid of them no matter what I try. These devices do not show up in Devices and Printers, they become Bluetooth Low Energy HID Devices when I install the computer manufacturer's drivers... As I typed this I thought of installing the Intel Bluetooth drivers I had previously installed to see what would happen... Ok that made things worse. Now there are three random Bluetooth Low Energy HID Devices and none of them are actual devices that are paired to the PC. And pairing the devices does not help. If I could, I would just delete the registry keys but I can't (remember, corporate domain PC). Any help from you brilliant people would be great. Thank you!

i have installed the correct driver for this belkin bluetooth usb dongle model: F8T012XX1

but in device manager, it has the belkin device and microsoft bluetooth enumerator, which is great. but when u get further down the list. it has a tab named "other devices" and then a subtab with "bluetooth peripheral device" which has an exclemation mark on it.

i have searched for driver software using the update service but it cant find no update.

i have looked for the name of the manufacturer but found nothing.

i then disabled the unknown device, and sent a picture to my mobile phone. which confirmed that it was not the belkin bluetooth device. so i uninstalled the unknown device, restarted the computer. then when i logged in, it said that it had found a new device and wanted me to find the CD that came with it..

i would be greatful if any1 could help me on this..

Hello, So I recently reformatted by U410 and installed windows 8.1.  When I initially purchased the laptop, it had 8 and I downgraded to 7 for productivity reasons.  In doing so, I also replaced the microSATA SSD to a 128gb so I had an OS drive and a documents drive for storage of my research data.  I recently decided i wanted to try out 8.1 for several reasons, part of them being that the BIOS was designed to run properly w/ 8.   After having done that, i've had 0 problems really.  Runs smooth, fast, clean.  Easy reinstall of my programs and most hardware.  When I got back to my office this morning I wanted to reinstall my bluetooth keyboard for my workstation setup, only to find out there was no option to add bluetooth peripherals.  I figured "OK, I forgot to install the BT drivers" so I went and grabbed those and the wireless drivers since I recall fighting with this in windows 7 before. Installed drivers (or so I thought) and did a reboot, nothing.  Check the device manager and find out it's not even present in the device manager.  Not even any "unknown device"  I have one in there part googling the HW ID suggests its something associated with the Energy Management software (despite having that installed. Checked the BIOS and it's enabled there no problem,  Scanned for hardware changes, nothing.  Ran a command prompt ipconfig and there isn't even an entry for the bluetooth module.  I... Answer:bluetooth device not working

rintu100,

My first suggestion would be to make sure you are downloading the correct Bluetooth drivers by clicking on this link (Need to know the hardware on your system to choose the right drivers?) on this page: It will download a utility that will tell you which Bluetooth driver you need to install, there are four listed, that might be the problem. Also, please make sure you are selecting the correct Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) version from the drop down list.

I don't know how it is possible but I had same issue with my usb to serial converter. Stopped working suddenly under Windows 10 while it was working for a period under windows 10. First I thought it was defect, later to test an application I was coding I installed windows 7 back on the same pc, suddenly the usb to serial converter came back to life on windows 7 ?

Hi onyx,
This error means a device driver notified the operating system that the device failed. This circumstance can occur if the device hardware fails or if the device driver fails.
Have you tried to update the device driver for test?

I recently had my touchpad/keyboard replaced by a certified Lenovo techician for my Lenovo Y40-70. I am running Windows 10 and my SMBIOSBIOS Version is 99CN28WW(V1.11). However, while the keyboard is working perfectly, I have lost all multi-touch functionality with the new touchpad. I have attempted to install the latest drivers for the touchpad found here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y40-70-noteboo... Unfortunately, this fails to solve the problem. When I run the Synaptics set-up utility, I recieve the error message "Synaptics device not found!" Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this issue? Thanks for your help.  -Dan

Answer:Lenovo Y40 synaptics device not found

Hi danjmac3

Welcome to the Community Forums .

Initially try to completely uninstall the current drivers from the device manager.
Put a check mark on the box that would show up to completely remove the file (example).

Shut down the pc and and use the novo button (item8 page3) to turn on.
On Novo menu , choose BIOS set up and press F9 to load defaults , F10 to save and exit.

Then reinstall back your touchpad driver and restart.

Update us how it goes.

After installing WIndows 8 on my Y480 laptop, I execute the setup for the bluetooth driver but it says no device was detected. I still installed the driver by running the driver installer file directly but after it is done, windows 8 shows the blue tooth device as off, and it also doesn't show in the device manager. I can't turn on wireless since the fn+f5 key doesn't work even with Energy Management installed (instead it turns on airplane mode on or off which is functionality by Windows 8). Any way I can turn bluetooth on without using fn + f5? Thanks in advance.

I have an issue with the Bluetooth connection of my Lenovo U31-70 notebook. Even I have connected and paired my Bluetooth headphone, the notebook still cannot detect it as a playback device. It just connected as a device categorized as unknown rather than an audio device. What should I do to let my notebook detect my Bluetooth headphone as an audio playback? PS In the photo, BeoH5 is my Bluetooth headphone, but it did not show as a playback device.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate. Since very recently an unknown device keeps popping up in the device manager every time I start Win. It's reported location is within the front USB root hub but I haven't changed there anything lately. The device status reports "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)". I can uninstall/disable it but it will get picked up again the next time I reboot. All other usb devices (mouse, keyboard, web camera, APC UPS, external drive, printer) work fine. How do I get rid of this nuisance so that it doesn't reappear?

For six months or so, I've had a problem where my laptop's audio will stop working. The red "X" appears over the volume icon in the system tray and audio will not function whatsoever. Until now, rebooting has been 99% successful at restoring the audio until it eventually fails again. But in the last three days, my normal quick fix no longer does the trick. Apparently my laptop can no longer find the actual Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD hardware on the motherboard. This is a T520 laptop running Win 7 with SP1. The T520 is roughly six years old, so I realize the hardware's age might be a factor. There are definitely other issues related to its age (general performance sluggishness, inability to wake up from sleep mode, backup no longer works correctly) and I will eventually have to replace the laptop. But in the meantime, solving this persistent audio issue will buy me at least a few more months, so it's worth fixing to me. I've found dozens of threads that suggest reinstalling the device drivers, which of course I have tried several times using the drivers here. The problem: After rebooting, the device manager still doesn't list any playback device ("No audio devices are installed") even with both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" checked. Similarly, when I run the 8aad14ww.exe device installer, it terminates with an error message ("Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver").  Has the hardware itself ac...
