No Reasonable Solution for a Warranty Issue!!

Question: No Reasonable Solution for a Warranty Issue!!

I have a very annoying issue wherein the small rubber V-shaped or triangular pegs attached to the base of the extended battery of my U150 have come off; so now the laptop wobbles when I type. I've called the service center (Philippines not India), they were very nice and courteous, but had no replacement part number so they cannot replace the part even if I am under warranty! How ridiculous is that?!?! It would be so easy to mail me a pair of pegs and I would simply superglue it on the base. What they offered is even more absurd! They want me to give them a $90+ deposit to send them my whole battery pack (that is working just fine) which they are willing to replace in order to get the new legs on it. We're talking about a pair of pegs worth no more that 25-US-cents!!! Does anyone have any solutions? Or is there some other mystical resource to get these rubber pegs replaced? This issue has been going on for two months, and Lenovo has not replied, emailed, nor called as promised by the customer service receptionist who said they would refer my claim to Lenovo.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I received the new Thinkpad x61s yesterday, ordered 3 weeks ago. I had chosen the Intel wireless wifi link 4965AGN for it, but when I received it yesterday I found they actually installed a 4965AG. This is shown in all the places: the system information, the device manager, as well as the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. I have created screen shots to show the information, though I don't see anyway to attach the files here. I called Lenovo yesterday as soon as I found the problem. I thought the two obvious solutions would be to either send back the laptop for replacement of the wireless card by IBM/Lenovo, or to have them send me the correct card and I replace it by myself. Since the model is still being offered on sale, they certainly have the 4965AGN card. I was transferred back and forth on the phone between various depts. The last rep yesterday said they couldn't replace the card for me (why? "because it's just not how we do it." Instead they do put the wrong card?), nor can they send me a replacement card (said it would void warranty if I install it myself, which contradicts another rep. Could someone please confirm either way?). He said I had to either return the laptop for refund or get credit for the difference between the two cards. Neither of these is what I would like to accept. And I find it neither reasonable nor necessary. I called them today again. The rep I got today looked at my order and claimed what I ordered was exactly what I have received! He cl... Read more

Answer:Lenovo messed up my wireless card on my new laptop and refuses a reasonable solution?!

I understand your frustration, but there is a thing I don't get it. By the fact that Intel doesn't have pcie network adapter card model 4965AG. They have only 4965AGN, which is the one you are supposed to get, and 3945BG/ABG for 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g consecutively. I suspect 4965AG is typo or something? but this way it's pretty hard for Lenovo to believe you as well. The question is how you can identify your network card then? If device manager really says that, you may like to update driver.I recommend you get into this card properties in device manager and check for Hardware Ids, for 4965AGN it should be VEN_8086&DEV4230&SUBSYS_11108086. If it's really a wrong one, I don't see that you couldn't get a replacement. The worst case is you may have to ship your unit back to repair center, I guess. note: I'm not related to Lenovo in anyway! I was pissed about their service too/ Edited: I was totally wrong. There is 4965AG. It's basically the same one with 802.11n disabled. However, it's not the same part number. 42T0865, 42T0867, 42T0869, 42T0871, 42T0905 : Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN (11n enabled)42T0873, 42T0875, 42T0877, 42T0879, : Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN (11n disabled) First, you have to check this part number on the box to see if it matches 11n disabled. Then check with your order and it's time to call them again. Message Edited by sipp11 on 01-21-2009 01:56 PM

Hello,I am wondering what a normal response time for a replacement hard drive under warranty might be. I had a client who's hard drive was diagnosed as faulty with the assistance of a Lenovo technicial on-line. He told me the supply of a new hard drive would be between 7 and 14 days. I just received an email yesterday telling me it would be shipped on 6 May which is 18 days from the time I called and had the on-line technician diagnose it was faulty. But that is not all, that is only to supply the hard drive then an installer will contact my client to arrange the installation. Who knows how long that is going to take. It is likely to be more than Three Weeks for this issue to be solved. This is an unacceptable delay Lenovo - is that normal for your company? I am in Australia, the machine concerned has a serial number of PC016C38 and the support reference is 8006930329.

Hi, I've just received and setup my new Edge 530, but when I was playing around with the Lenovo Solution Centre, I noticed that the warranty period ends in 369 days, with a start date of 07/30/2011, which is surprising as this laptop is new. Have I been sent a 2nd hand laptop (yes I did buy it from the Lenovo online store) Regards.

I bought my Lenovo G500 laptop in December 2013. It has 1 year warranty. Today I installed Lenovo Solution Center and saw that it shows wrong warranty.  According to Lenovo Solution Center, the warranty is set to expire on September 22, 2014. But its wrong since I bought the laptop just around Christmas in 2013.

Answer:Lenovo Solution Center Showing Wrong Warranty

Hi Mayank,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

There was an initial bug in LSC where extended warranty was not accurately shown and this was addressed in version 1.1.006.  Several changes to the functionality of warranty lookup have been implemented in different versions of LSC to address other considerations.

In some cases, the Lenovo Solution Center is displaying a message, ?Unable to determine warranty?, for the System and displaying a message, ?not available?, for the Battery.

This could occur on any Lenovo system running Windows 7 or 8 and running LSC.

These will be solved in version 2.0.018 or higher of LSC.

Warranty status can be checked on the Lenovo support site at any time:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_IN/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Answer:Y50-70 Lenovo solution centre cannot connect to warranty servere

Sorry to hear of your problem.  You will have to contact the Service Center again and have them update the replacement motherboard with the model and serial number information.  There is no software utility available to the consumer / owner that will allow for the update of that information.

You can still manually look up your warranty information by using the link below.......

The Lenovo Solutions Centre Requires the serial number to show the warranty information. If the software is not able to read it, this may be the problem.

I keep getting reminders that the status for my Thinkcentre M92z warranty is unable to be determined according to the Lenovo Solution Center. I just checked the warranty status at the recommended site and I still have almost a year left. Is there a way to update this so I don't keep getting the reminders?

Lenovo solution center shows warranty expires today while it gets okay after refreshing. I need to refresh this every time i reboot my machine i.e. T430.

Answer:Lenovo solution center shows warranty expires today while it gets okay after refreshing.

LSC has not been working for a long time. Each release seems to have bugs in it as far a warranty access is concerned. After the last update I ran which still could not access the server. I seems to have uninstalled itself. The startup is gone everywhere on my systems. I haven't checked Control Panel for it since it still is a garbage tool now. ThinkVantage thread in the community still has posters indicating the problem is continuing. Each time you launch it if there is an update it wants to install it. LOL But that software is of little use anyway. The diagnostics is poor as well.

I bought a brand new Lenovo ideapad 305 from Argos. It has buzzing noise since I bought it. Called the Lenovo support centre in UK and the lady told me politely it is better if I take it back to Argos and they will help me. So I did that. The problem is, that Argos is really noise, of course we couldn't hear the noise as it is not that loud, but I am pretty sure, there is some problem. The lady told me she cannot do anything as we can't hear anything. Not the noise why I am woirred about. I am worried about the impact that can happen in the future, and maybe it will be after my warranty is expired. So my question is, why do I have a bloody warranty for the laptop if noone lift even a finger to help me? Is anyone had problem with Lenovo warranty or customer service?

Hi: Contact HP technical support for the country you live in at the link below. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html Explain the situation to the customer services rep. They will send you a link or to upload a copy of your invoice or sales receipt showing the date of purchase, and they will adjust the warranty start and end dates accordingly. I had to do the same thing, and they fixed the warranty start and end dates within 3 business days.

Apparantly, if your Lenovo purchase is out of warranty,  online support, of any kind,  is unavialble. On the contact page I entered serial number xxxxxxx (12/02) and was told my Thinkpad is out warranty, something I knew in June. Does this mean that online contact with Lenovo is unavialable? The only contact option on that page is the forum...so hello.

I've been bouncing back and forth between Staple and Lenovo for a couple of months now regarding a Thinkpad purchased this year. I recently sent the following note Staples, who again forwarded me to Lenovo Support, and who, as explained, is unavailable.

I purchased a refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad in mid February. I purchasedthis computer based on what I could afford and past experience with both
Staples and Lenovo. The computer failed in June, one month beyond itswarranty period. The local Staples store told me they are unwilling torepair it.
It should be clear to a reasonable consumer, or vendor, that a $400dollar product, carefully used, should not be rendered worthless withina 4 month period,..without consideration. Is this what Staples hasbecome? If it has, why would I remain a customer?
I expected more from Staples and Lenovo, warranty, or no warranty.

As stated, I expect more of a global brand and its vendors, regarding a computer or a lawnmower, warranty or no warranty.

I have a T450 Laptop. There is a mark on my screen and it is a white dot which is a problem with my display screen itself. I spoke to Lenovo repair as its under the extended warranty scheme. I was under the impression it would be picked up or fixed on site as it states in the warranty. However, the repair centre wanted pics which I sent but these were not good enough! I paid a small fortune for my laptop thinking Lenovo had the best warranty on the planet. This is clearly not the case. Be aware it is not as good as Lenovo states. Anyone else been let down by the warranty???

Question: T61 warranty issue

Hi, I bought this t61 8891 model at the beginning of 2008, and it was great for me, until this summer... I extended my depot warranty(which was the standard 1 year) about 1 month ago. Then I start to have this LCD temporarily break down, it stops working for some time, and then magically recovers after a random period of time. The symptoms are garbled display right when it boots, but everything works fine with external monitors... So I send the machine to IBM for repair, and they claim that it?s caused by a corrosion on the motherboard. They tell me that corrosion is not covered by the warranty, so I have to pay for the motherboard myself. When I get back the computer today, I took it apart and check the corrosion myself. It is hardly visible, I have to look really hard to see it. All the traces and components look alright. So I personally do not think this is causing my problems. So my question is:1. Does this mean that they will refuse to repair it no matter what? My machine is still under warranty at least according to the website, I am not sure if they will just refuse to service my machine any more, even for other parts in the future.2. Is it possible to go through some kind of third party companies that are Lenovo certified, which supposedly repair machines on their behalf?? I am really frustrated right now, and I really appreciate any comments and / or advice. Thanks,

Question: Warranty issue

Hi! I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 500 and since it was vibriting without any reason and woke up itself they changed the screen. The situation starts here: One screw was replaced badly and it was a bit tilted, but as our main season started I thought it will be OK. After 2 months the body of the laptop separated a bit and the under part a bit cracked above the USB port. I saw that all the screws were falling out of the stuff....I said it's not a big problem so I brought it back, but before that I checked the laptop, and it turned out that there was a small bump next to the touchpad which was slightly scratched. So I checked the screen and it turned out that there was a scratch too. So I went back to the lenovo service partner, where we could only see the bump from some side angles, and they took the laptop. In the afternoon I got an email that they screwed out and back everything so the PC is good now, they won't change anything at all. So I went back and asked them about the situation, and they said that it's my mistake that I must have holded the PC with one hand, so they won't fix the cracked thing, I'm lucky that the motherboard didn't break. When I said that OK, it's not a big issue for me, because after screwing the laptop, I can't really see the crack, but I'd like the screen to be fixed she said that I can't prove that they assambled the laptop incorrectly, when I said that her college saw that the screw was tilted she said do I have a photo about that beca...

Respected Sir/ Madam                    I ordered an 120W  AC adaptor from your website www.hpshopping.in, on 17/11/2016 with order no 807782. I got the product from you on 25/11/2016 through one of your retailer SAVEX TECHNOLOGIES PVT.LTD.     Problem is that, inside the box it mentioned only 1 year warranty, but while in your website it is mentioned 3 year warranty. So I request you please extend the warranty for 3 year as mentioned in your website. I am sending you the snapshot of all the things regarding it... please resolve the issue as soon as possible...

Question: Warranty issue

SN--CND6210ZFFProduct Number:  CND6210ZFFWindows 10 Home 64-bit My computer is approx 1-month old.  I purchased the 3-year warranty at that time, however, the warranty on the HP website still shows only the 1-year warranty.  Two previous email requests to support have gone unanswered.  In addition, I have spent almost two hours on the telephone with HP trying to resolve this issue.  I paid for the 3-year service, and should be provided the three year service.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.Respectfully submitted,Slingwing (Ron)

I need some assistance and I am hesitant to ask for it here since I know this is not an official support channel, but so far official support has not been able to do anything for me.I wrote extensively about my experience here. Basically my notebook arrived but I did not get a ship notification  e-mail and my credit card was not charged until over a month later. This wouldn?t be that big a deal, but my warranty is not showing correctly on the look-up site. I paid extra for a two year warranty with Thinkpad Protection yet the look up site shows the standard one year warranty. I talked to warranty support several times and they told me that I needed my invoice number (which I didn?t have until recently when the ship confirmation e-mail came) and recommended I talk to sales. I have talked to sales multiple times and they generally say they have no record of my order shipping, my serial number is invalid, I must have received the wrong computer, etc. etc. Usually the call ends with them saying they will investigate the issue and get back to me which never happens.Once the shipment e-mail finally arrived (with an invoice number) I emailed the person I have been working with at warranty support the invoice number but I have heard nothing back and my warranty is still showing incorrectly. I was considering upgrading to on-site warranty support but considering I can?t even get the warranty I originally bought working I don?t think I will bother at this point. The whole pr... Read more

This is not a technical question, if i'm posting in the wrong section I request the moderators to move it to the correct place.
I'm from India. We have an online shop here, called "Snapdeal". Purchased a laptop from here, it's a Dell Vostro. When I check the Dell warranty page, I see the "Shipping Date" is different from the date on my invoice. Called up Dell support, they asked me to mail a scanned copy of the invoice, and they will make the appropriate corrections. I did, and the next day Dell called me back and informed my request has been rejected, as there's no "Service tag" or "Express service code" mentioned in the invoice. It's impossible for Dell to verify this invoice is for the laptop in question, and i need to contact the "place of purchase" for an updated invoice which includes the service tag of the laptop.
I've since called "Snapdeal" a number of times. They keep telling they have taken a complaint and will send an updated invoice in 24 hours, but I'm yet to receive this. This is not really a Dell problem, it's a "Snapdeal" problem. Could someone please suggest what do I do now? If the laptop gets stolen, I won't even be able to complain to the police, as my invoice is pretty much meaningless without the serial number of the laptop mentioned on it :-(

We have a brand new x201 (4 cycles on the battery) that has issues with the video which I traced to a conflict with the Intel GMA graphics driver (if I delete this and use a generic VGA driver the problem disappears). Anyway, Lenovo tech support first told me that the hard drive had failed and sent a new drive which I fitted and re-installed the system but the problem persisted so I was asked to send the machine in for repair. We sent it in for a repair that was started last Wednesday but suddenly on Monday the tracking system said the job was on hold and I should contact Lenovo. I did only to be told that the machine had liquid ingression and from the photos they have sent that is definitely the case but I nor anyone else here has never had fluid near the machine let alone spilled any which has created a crazy scenario where I can't prove that I haven't spilled anything but equally can't prove that the company that make the repairs have. I would be willing to take an oath, lie detector or any test in order to prove that I'm telling the truth but it's all fallen on deaf ears and it looks like I've sent away a machine with a simple driver conflict and am getting a broken machine back with the insinuation being that I'm a liar. I refuse to even have a quote let alone be held to ransom with a repair and I'm going to have an independent expert to make a report with a view to taking it to small claims court. My company currently have a T420, T420s and three x201's and over the... First off im not gonna bother to say how terrible Lenovo's service is.. But i do want to mention that i purchased a 3 yr basic + accidental warranty for my Ideapad Y560 two weeks ago. Within an hour of my order, i recieved two emails; order confirmation and my onvoice. They told me that i would be receiving another email with an instruction and a serial key to register my warranty. Its been two weeks with more than 5 phone calls (all of them telling me that they will send an email to the warranty department). Is this normal? Is Lenovo seriously this bad? and yes i check my spam. ps. im typing this on my smartphone so plz forgive the grammar and structural errors.

Answer:y560 warranty issue

I'd think it'd come with the invoice. Have you actually been billed yet? I would assume their extended warranty system has been upgraded a bit. Rather than posting your serial number here, I'd recommend checking your warranty status at the link below: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=LOOK-WARNTY#sw If it says your 3 year repair + accidental on there, then it's official, print it for your records. If you still see a 1 year then something weird is definitely going on.

I am a die hard Thinkpad fan.  I buy them for work, family and friends.  And have been doing so for the past 15 years, starting with the 701C.  I have been fortuanate enough to never need warranty repair on any of them.  Except with my latest X61 tablet.  I have a few of these for use in the family.  On one of these the very small tabs that hold the battery, broke.  So the battery no longer wants to stay in place. I called easyserv customer service and they told me that it would be covered under warranty and gave me a service call #: 30TC5ZJ.  So I shipped it in.  I included the power adapter and the battery, as the instructions directed.  I then received a call and was told that the problem would not be covered under warranty.  That surprised me.  Why a sudden change of heart?  I described the problem very clearly over the phone and was assured that it would be covered under warranty.  The computer has been used very gently and there is not even a minor scratch on it to prove that.  I have seen reports here of similar cases getting coverage under warranty.  So I am perplexed about why my case is treated differently. Today I received the laptop back.  Not fixed.  But to add insult to injury, they decided to keep the power adapter.  Ugh.

I bought a Yoga 3 in August.  The power button has broken and Lenovo is telling me its not going to honor the warranty on it.  This laptop has not been abused or even overused.  It seems to me they do not want to cover it, because to replace it, requires replacing the motherboard. They want me to pay $400 to fix a laptop that is under warranty. I'm extremely frustrated that Lenovo won't stand up for their product.  What good is the warranty if they won't honor it. Mike

Answer:yoga 3 warranty issue

There has to be more to the story than this. Lenovo failing to honor a warranty for a 4-month old product? Did you buy it new or used? Any repairs previously? Any signs of physical damage at all?

I had posted earlier on this issue here I purchased my x201s last year and after maybe a week or two (or maybe since new) I noticed a white spot on the left side corner of the screen (see photo). Because I use my laptop for work everyday I could not send it back (I wish I had choosen the onsite warranty). Having some free time these days I sent it back to lenovo. There response was that it is going to cost me $700 and did not give any explanation as to why it was not cover under the warranty. The person reluctantly escalated my issue to another service without giving me any explanation at all and the answer came back $700 dollars to fix the screen. I am outraged at the way I have been treated on this issue. I have not been given any information, I have been without laptop for two weeks now and I don't seem to be able to talk to anyone else than my initial contact who is to say the least uncooperative. There is no reason to be treated like this for a $500 dollars piece of equipment. But when you paid $2000 dollars this is as if Lenovo was saying we don't provide customer service anymore go to our competitors My last ressource is this forum. If there is a way for me to get in contact with a manager who could look at my case I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer:Z41-70 - Replacing HDD With SSD - Warranty Issue?

Hi Urix ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes. you may upgrade your HDD to SSD and you would still keep the warranty for the original parts.
It will not void your warranty.

Upgradable parts are mostly Customer Replaceable Units (CRU) like harddrive , RAM , Optical drive and battery. Lenovo do not limit customer on maximizing the potential of the machine.
Same reason why manuals are being carried out to provide steps accessible to customers for reference guide.

Baseline :
Check on hardware manual if the parts are considered CRU .
For our case (page 95)  Hard disk drive, HTS545050A7E660 6G 7mm 5.4K 500G HDD CRU ID is N ( service for such part is done by Lenovo that you can avail if not working)

Similar to this query is this case  for the Z500 replacement of optical drive which is also a CRU Id - N and this thread.

Warranty agreement :

What this Warranty Does not Cover
- failure or damage resulting from misuse, abuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, improper maintenance, or use not in accordance with product information materials
-damage caused by a non-authorized service provider
-failure of, or damage caused by, any third party products, including those that Lenovo may provide or integrate into the Lenovo product at your request

I bought this laptop today - Windows 10, 128GB SSD Intel i3, but the warranty says 9 month remaining on the support assistant. I try disputing this on the site and let the support assistant find my model number, and it says that it's been obselete for a number of years, and then another part said unknown error?! I contacted live chat and they said they will try and get it updated in 3 weeks, but I'm not convinced. My printer had the same issue in Jan, contacted them then and they never updated it. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi rojiraju,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I think the best way here is to call the Technical Support in your location, SInce the technical Support people will be the one to verify you warranty if you have any warranty claims.

Make sure you have a tech or a representative on the line who can Verify the Email you will be sending. Once confirmed, send the email and have the representative verify it.

You should not be worried if you still have the proof of purchase, What ever warranty may appear on the Site or from someone, once you show them your Proof of purchase stating the date and the serial number of your computer it will be honored.

Check you Support Hotline here.

Answer:G40 - International warranty issue

hi Chit,

Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your trouble.

If you won't be comming back to India soon or traveling to another places where the G40 has international warranty (see this list) then I'm afraid you have two options:

Option 1:
If you have experience in laptop disassembly then you can try to DIY and reseat the Touchpad (this should snap back the Touchpad buttons and its connection to the motherboard).

Reference:
Page 48 of the hardware maintenance manual
G40 Video Disassembly Guide (see Keyboard Bezel)

Option 2:
Take the machine to a local computer repair center or check one of the following service providers to fix it (note that fees may apply).

Service Provider list (Australia)

Hope you get the issue fixed soon.

Regards

Hi stelyiansw, welcome to the forum,

the warranty moves with the notebook's serial number. You could be the sixth owner of the system, if the serial number has an in warranty status, then it's in warranty and your system will receive service under the usual warranty conditions.

Hope this helps

The sales person told me that the stocks would reach at 24 May and collectable at 25 May.However, Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox reported that my warranty left 1438 days. I thought the warranty starts only when the customer receives it or when it is ordered? Even if it's ordered, it should be at least 1453 days. How is it calculated? Mine is 3yr (24x7, 4h SLA), 1yr (9x5) = 4 years.Correct me if the calculation is wrong: 365days x 4years = 1460days.Peter

I was looking around in the Forums and saw that quite a bit of people have the loose power cable issue. My question is do you think that lenovo will fix it even though my warranty literally just expired. The issue started happening and i read that continuing to wiggle the power cable to get it to work will cause a short that could damage the motherboard. Thanks

I purchased a Lenovo T430, used, with about two months' warranty still left. I noticed that the screen is not as bright as it should be. I thought it is normal until I compared it with another T430 in family. The other one, same model, T430 although different date of productions has a lot brighter screen than mine. I am attaching a photo below comparing both side by side. I wish to know what options do I have to fix this. Can I claim this under warranty? I purchased this in UK but abroad right now. It really does not need any mention, the one with the issue is to the right... http://i59.tinypic.com/2mzbak3.jpg

Answer:T430 screen issue/Warranty

Hi and welcome, flemingoT430 model supports and can be equipped by panels of different manufacturers and types - LGD, Samsung, AUO, Innolux. Their features, color representation including, differ significantly.Did you apply .inf file for the laptop monitor, from the Lenovo support site? It includes Windows ICM (Image Color Management file for ICC Color Profile), allows to obtain an accurate color representation.

hello,  brought a ideapad 500 series few months back ang got the motherboard problem 2 times,  asked them to replace for one to one.  customer support center is really pathetic and very irresponsive guys, they dont call, mail to update.  they just take their own sweet time!!

when i call to call center for the update they said its all already ready and asked me to collect, but the support center guy, after waiting for 45 mins in queue, he says no, havent heard anything from the management.  really asked him who is management, the reply was lenovo management!!

why the support center doesnt work on weekends??  do expect your consumers to take half day leave just to go and wait in the support center to hear such irresponsive support / answers??

within just 3 months did 4 visits to support center and still one more time to collect that dump!

i dont want support, service, business with lenovo and just wasting my time and efforts!

much much appriciated if you pay me my laptop money.

brought this laptop by beliving my friend's suggestion that the hardware is real professionally good!  haha..

by completely non-satisfied consumer.

Dear community, The left hinge on my x121e suddenly came apart, due to no fault of mine (see picture). I sent it to Lenovo and they are saying it is not covered by the warranty because it is customer damage. Does anyone have any advice on how to confront them on this issue? The same problem has occured to many others - see here:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/General-Discussion/X121e-left-hinge-issue-Warranty/td-p/813777http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/General-Discussion/warranty-issue-join-my-journey/td-p/748929http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X121e-loose-hinge-as-on-the-picture/td-p/82240...Thanks very much!Moshe

Hi All, Last week while working on my laptop I got a green screen distortion and my laptop won't boot, i had read about this issue in this Forum and people mentioned that it was a GPU issue.I had just sent my IBM Thinkpad T61 (7662 CTO) for repair last week.I got a call from them today and they mentioned that it was my fault as i must have spilled something on the laptop. And very easily i was told to pay 950$ so that they can fix my laptop.I told them that i have taken extended warranty  (LENOVO THINKPLUS EXTENDED SERVICE AGREEMENT - 3 YEARS - PICK-UP AND RETURN) and it should be covered as i can recollect i havent spilled anything on my Laptop for a long time and the Green Screen Distortion is a common error with thinkpads. They said they will send me the pictures with spilled liquid by tomorrow, and obviously i was upset and escalated the issue. How can they justify the price 950$ for a 2 year old laptop, why anybody will want to spend that much, we can get a new one in that price. Are all Thinkpad's only disposable items, buy use and throw. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Before my 1 year warranty ran out I sent my computer in for service.  They "fixed it" and sent it back, however, that same day I noticed the problem was not fixed.  My 1 year warranty had expired by this time but they said there was an additional 90 day warranty after getting the computer back from service and they told me to send it back in so they could ?have their best guy? fix it. (too bad their best guy wasn't working the first time I sent it in, could have saved me time and money on packing and shipping costs) Since getting my computer back the second time, I have encountered another related issue and need assistance.  I am still within the additional 90 day warranty time after getting my computer back, however, when I call the Acer Support number the automated system says my computer is out of warranty and automatically forwards me to a pay per service 3rd party support company.  My computer is under warranty; I should not have to spend money to get service when it is under warranty.  I can not find any other way to talk to a person to get this resolved.  I already had very low satisfaction with the majority of my calls to Acer Support before now.  This makes it even worse and leads me to tell people not to buy Acer computers.  Please, could someone from Acer help a customer out?  Thanks.

Answer:Acer Support & Warranty issue

My guess the additional 90 days was for that 1 issue because they had just did the repair. They didn't extend your warranty on the whole laptop. What is your related issue? Maybe we can help.

Hello to all, I had some issue (non-functional speakers) with my Lenovo W520 4270 CTO ever since September 17th, 2012. The machine came with a two year warranty starting September 2nd, 2011. Contacted Lenovo on September 17th, 2012 and was told that the machine was out of warranty. Even though I provided scanned copy of Lenovo Canada's invoice indicating 2 years of warranty coverage, the staff at Lenovo still refused to investigate any further. "PopAdmin4Canada" exchanged 10+ e-mails with me and eventually agreed to look into the matter. They have officially acknowledged that my laptop is still in coverage in writing. However Lenovo was only able to do so on October 1st, 2012, 13 days later. They also had to send my e-mail to Lenovo Argentina to be processed. Regardless, my warranty was interrupted between September 2nd, 2012 to October 1st, 2012. My repair process was still delayed. I have made complaint through e-mail and was promised to be escalated. Nothing came out as a result of such "follow up". I have also contacted Lenovo @ 1866-968-4465. Reported the whole fiasco to the Post Sales Department. Was promised a follow up and this never happened again. The computer is still not fixed. The Lenovo Post Sales Department (based out of Philippines) told me once again that my warranty is not valid. What is going on?

Answer:Lenovo W520 warranty issue

@j - I can imagine how frustrated you are. A suggestion: The non-functional speakers are a plague of the W520. It is pretty easy to fix the problem. It has to do with a short in the speaker wire. You can fix it with a little electrical tape. Fix for dead W520 speakers No, you shouldn't be treated this way.

I've had my Yoga Pro 2 for nearly a year now and just reccently have been experiencing wifi drop and limited connectivity. For the past week, it's been dropping out maybe 10x a day. Was it because of the last wireless driver i installed a month ago? Possibly, as it has never happened before. And to think I thought I was one of the lucky few who got had a good one but guess not.  Anyway, I'm lucky it happened now rather than later as my warrently ends in a week. Do I contact Lenovo and ask to send it in? Does the wifi card need to be replaced? Let me know if you have any experience with Lenovo repairs and what I should do next.  Thanks

Answer:Yoga Pro 2 Wifi Issue and warranty

There is a thread of about ~1500+ comments long. In short, Lenovo will just replace the card with the same problematic card. Thad said, click on the link on my sig and try the wifi fix.

Hi, I purchased an Inspiron 1543 on Oct 27, 2015 from an authorized dell store at GIP Mall Noida and since then I have been strutggling with Dell Warranty team to update the warranty status under dell festive offers. They have updated only NBD warranty date to Oct 2018 sine I have purchased two years extended warranty, but all the other warranty dates are yet to be updated and they are not even replying my emails. The worst customer service I have ever seen. I will never recommend anytone to buy a dell product. I have provided everything they reqested already. My service tag #<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>. My contact # are<ADMIN NOTE: Phone number removed per privacy policy>. Can anyone help? And specially Dell should not sell it's product through cheaters like Skope computers(A dell authorized showroom, GIM Mall, Noida.) They are thieves and cheaters and not have manners.

Answer:Warranty issue and customer service

Hello. You have posted on the Laptop Audio discussion board. I suggest that you post on the Customer Care board. Do not include your service tag and contact numbers, because those will be removed as per forum policy. If someone from Dell replies to your post, they will ask you to send them that information via the forum's private message feature.
I hope you find success in resolving your warranty issues.

I brought a Lenovo y700 laptop in Thailand and has a two year warranty. I am now currently living in the Philippines. My laptop motherboard is broken, i rang the technical support team did some troubleshooting coming to the conclusion it is a problem with the motherboard. I am under warranty but only in the original country i purchased the laptop. Is this true? Surely the warranty is international? I looked through the warranty policy and can't find anything about the warranty is only valid for the country in which you purchased your product. Not happy, anyone can help?

I have wasted hours trying to understand how to make a warranty claim.so my soulution is to ask on this forum. How is it that someone find the link to purchase warranty in 1 sec but have to waste hours and resort to a forum to find out how to make a claim? Lenovo really need to think about the impression it leaves on its customers about its commitment to service. In addition the links from the Thinvantage does not even work.

Answer:X61 battery issue - warranty claim

thinkpadbatt, welcome to the forum,

when you visit the Lenovo support site there is a link on the left side to the support phone list. You can choose your product category on this site, e.g. ThinkPad and WorkPad, and you will reach a site with the support phone numbers. Alternatively, instead of a product category, you could choose the link in the left link-column to submit a request.

Hope this helps

DVD BURNING ISSUE-Resolved!!

Turns out the Entire issue I had was with Media,,

Here is what I learned from some Very Clever Noddy's and Documented,,, Thought I would share the Info out for those of you out there in the same boat,,

Take a DVD you want to back up that is a DVD5 disc (single layer) and RIP it with DVD DECRYPTER in ISO READ mode.

This creates a single large ISO file on your computer's HDD. This ISO file is called an IMAGE file.

Now put DVD DECRYPTER in ISO WRITE mode and select the ISO from your HDD and burn it to a DVD

If it works in your stand alone then you know the issue is not so much the media but with the OTHER burning methods you are using.

If this DVD doesn't work then you have major problems which are probably related to the media.

If you want to test a DVD9 back up then use whatever program you normally use for that (such as DVDShrink or DVD2ONE etc.) but set the final file size to around 4000MB (which is a little bit shy of 4.0GB)

Now most of the programs that compress DVD9 discs will spit out a VIDEO_TS folder with your DVD FILES ready for burning.

At this point use ImgTool Classic. This is a FREEWARE program that you can download.

ImgTool Classic will create an ISO IMAGE file from your VIDEO_TS folder (actually you put your VIDEO_TS folder under another folder and select NOT the VIDEO_TS folder but the folder that IT is in).

So for instance create a FOLDER called MOVIE and in that MOVIE FOLDER create anot... Read more

Anyway, I gppgled and tried to use the solutions out there but this one doesn't seem to have the registry keys listed in the instructions. Also, I can;t get on the net in safe mode so i can't even update malwarebyte's remover.

What do I do next?

I have not been able to 'plug in' my AC adaptor properly for almost 6 months. It always slides out a little after plugging in. At first, it was just a tiny problem and I managed to wiggle it manually. But now I cannot even charge unless I wiggle it for a good 10-15 minutes to find a good 'spot' then physically hold the cord in place. I thought it was the AC, but having tried a new AC adaptor that changed nothing, I started to think it's the DC. Called Lenovo today,  but was told that DC is not covered by warranty (although my machine is still under warranty). I don't know why it's not under warranty, as quite a number of threads have reported this issue here. Anyway, Lenovo asked me to just find a local service provider if I want to have a check up and change the DC (not keen on sending in the machine), but would changing the DC affect my warranty? (If it requires opening up the machine..etc). p.s. Lenovo Switzerland is very unhelpful in this regard (called them 5 times and was passed around to different people), so I had to post the question here. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have an issue with a small gap at the border of the right bottom edge of my ThinkPad display. It's about 5 cm long and 1-2 mm wide. Seems to me that there is some glue missing. The notebook was bought just a few days ago. Did anyone experienced the same problem or knows if such a (relatively) small issue is covered by warranty? T400 display border gap on imageshack
