lenovo y70-70 touch pitched sound when I turn on and ends when I turn off

Question: lenovo y70-70 touch pitched sound when I turn on and ends when I turn off

Hi... lenovo gave me a replace computer... y70-70 According to them, the laptop is a new one and not a rebuilt one... Since the first day I picked it up and used it at home... When I turn it on, starts a pitched noise and it ends when I turn the laptop off. That sound is so annoying to work I can´t work more than one hour due to the annoying noise/sound... That sound does not come from the speakers... What can I do? what is the problem? I need a quick response because I am travelling to another country in few days and I won´t come back until 6 months before. Regards

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The laptop in this case is a Acer Aspire 5050 (bought at Walmart about 3-4 years ago).

I turn the volume up and when i get close to about half way on the volume bar, i start hearing this high pitched whistle-like sound which gets louder the more you turn it up. The sound is continuous so I am not able to turn up the volume up higher than 50% or so which is not loud enough.

So what is the problem here and how can I fix this? Please Help...

Answer:Getting a high pitched sound when i Turn Up the volume?

The whistle is either heterodyne noise or your picking up sound from a microphone type source.

Do you have a microphone plugged in? If so try tapping on it and see if the tapping comes across the speakers.

Try taping the unit, do you hear the results through the speakers?

You may be picking up cross-talk through a poorly filtered circuit, this may be caused by poor circuit design.

Try going to your audio properties and adjusting the line-in volume to see if this noise changes in pitch.

Make sure you do not have any wires or devices close by that are connected to or in the direct location, that can be causing the white-noise issue.

Broadcast Radio stations or continuous carrier devices can cause this issue to happen, it is RF interference.

You could have the device near a televison or other device with is emitting RF interference.

Make sure the electrical wiring in the house is polorized and grounded properly.

Kind regards.

I just purchased the 1TB+8GB version of the Lenovo Y70 touch laptop from NewEgg.com on Black Friday, and less than a month later, I can't turn it on. I was using it earlier today, and it just shut off abruptly for new reason I can come up with. I did get it to turn back on, but then it shut off again without warning a few more times, and now I can't get it up and running again. One thing I noticed was that it seemed to shut off whenever I even lightly tapped the frame below the keyboard. The second time I turned it back on, I noticed it shut off when I rested my elbow on it. I tried to look around online and I can't find anyone having the same problem as me with this. I don't know if I get a defective model or what. I've never dropped it or smacked it into anything, so I have no idea what has happened.

Answer:Lenovo Y70 Touch Shut Off and Won't Turn Back On

Check your power adapter. Check that it is properly plugged in. Once done try again to test the unit.

Hi,

After using my U3330 Ultrabook this morning I put it into sleep mode (with the battery at at least 65%) for 30 mins and now it won't turn back on.

I had tried to perform the BIOS update last night that was on the support site but it had failed ( see attached) but even after the failure the machine was working fine and rebooted okay this morning

I've tried a separate charger and I've tried all separate reboot options and its just totally dead. The battery light on the right hand side is lighting up when connected to a charger.

Can anyone offer some help

One day I went to use the intenet on my P400 and I had no connection. I went to open up my wifi settings and they were not available! I didn't have the option to turn my wifi on! I used the troubleshooting function at first and it said something about an adapter isnt connected or something. I bought a ethernet cable and the internet works with it, but my wifi still wont work. I performed troubleshooting again and got this message: "The intel® Centrino® wireless-N 2230 adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware- related problems" Now I vaguely remember the first time I performed troubleshooting it told me an adapter or antenna wasn't connected. How should I proceed to restore my wifi?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad P400 Touch won't even allow the option to turn wifi on

Update I ran manual diagnostice for my wifi and got the statement "Wireless hardware is not bound to transport driver"

Hi,

I have Lenovo z500 Touch version.

My first question: Is there an option to turn off the touch screen? It takes a lot off battery and i rearly use it.

The second issue:
I have 8 GB of RAM memory, the constent state is about 45% memory use.
when I look at the task manager and I calculate the precentge of use by different processes and the amout of space they take in MB it looks like I have only 4 GB of memory.

For exemple, 800 MB use by the anti-virus is translated to almost 20%, somthing dosent end-up right.
I checked the hardware in Everset and in thesettings and they both showes 8GB

IS IT POSSIBLE?

Answer:Lenovo z500 - High memory usege+turn off the touch screen

hi SolFine,

Welcome to the Forums.

There's no feature to turn OFF/ON the touchscreen but you can try to disable it via the Device Manager > Human Interface Devices (there are usually 2-3 entries here and one of them controls the Touchscreen > right click on it and choose disable)

As for the RAM usage, can you try open System Properties (Winkey+I > PC Info) and check the Installed RAM area,
- Link to picture

If it says 8GB (4.xx usable), the RAM is most likely being allocated to the Integrated Graphics Processor.

So I had a problem with my T500's backlight initially and long story short, disassembling the computer has now caused the problem in the title. Whenever I plug in the battery/charger and push the power button, the fan will spin and the hdd will whirr a bit, but then after about 3 seconds, the fan will stop and the hdd will click off and cease whirring. The computer will no longer respond to the power button regardless of how many times nor how long the power button is held. I'm looking directly at the wires that carry power. Everything seems to be plugged in. I did the lenovo power trick (IE the 10 one second presses followed by the 30 second long press) and the computer does the 1-3-3-1 beep when I take out the RAM. The monitor is not plugged into it in any way, shape, or form. I do not know if this affects it. However, I have tried attaching the monitor and it still does this. Is there a piece that may have been knocked loose or something? I'm willing to try anything right now because at this point it's a literal brick now.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T500 will turn on for roughly 3 seconds, then turn off and stay off.

Hi npesina, welcome to the forums,

there could be different reasons for the system behaving the way you describe, my suggestions;

remove all hard, SSD and optical drives to see if you experience the same,
remove all RAM, without replacing the drives, and test to see if you receive a system beep code,
remove all components which had previously been removed to test again.

The ultimate test would be to remove everything attached to the mainboard including the CMOS (BIOS) battery excluding the power socket, CPU and the fan. When you attach the power cable the system should come to life, the fan should run and beep codes sound.  After that its really just a case of putting the system back together one component at a time testing inbetween each component replacement, leave the main battery and CMOS battery until last to save having to always connect / disconnect the keyboard in order to turn the system on.

If at any point you experience the same issue as now it may well be that the component you replaced at that point or it's attachment socket on the mainboard  is the culprit.

Hi I'm new here

Ive had my laptop for about 2 years and it's undergone many problems - broken screens, dust in the fan etc.

yesterday I was using it as normal when it switched off completely without any warning.
I'm used to this happening as my laptop regularly overheats and switches off like this.

However, when I turned it back on it made a high pitched noise that kept on getting higher until the laptop switched off again.
I think the noise was from the fan.

There was also a weird slight smell of burning plastic.
My laptop won't turn on and when I plug it in the orange power light doesn't come up.

PLEASE HELP I HAVE MY WHOLE ITUNES LIBRARY AND SCHOOL WORK ON THERE

Also in the past week the hing on one side of the laptop has broken off.
The screen still worked and any wires were still intact

To be honest, all the details don’t sound very good…
Everything looks like some serious hardware problem causes that the notebook cannot be powered up.
I cannot say for sure what’s wrong here but probably the motherboard or CPU has died.

Anyway, your data on the HDD should not be affected and I guess you could get access to your whole iTunes library. You need to remove the HDD from the notebook’s HDD bay and you will need to use an external USB 2.5” HDD caddy to connect the this notebook’s HDD to another computer as an external USB HDD.

This will allow you to move and to backup the data to another good working HDD.

As I was using my laptop, a Y50-70 Touch, it turned itself off and now I've been unable to turn it back on at all. When I hit the Power Button it lights up for a second or so, as do the white LED indicator lights on the front of the laptop, but nothing else happens, the keyboard backlights doesn't turn on and there are no other sounds from the laptop, no fans, nothing. It does this with the power cord plugged and the battery in and every other configuration possible, nothing. I'v removed the battery and tried to discharge any additional charge left by holding the power button down for extended periods of time, I've also hit it at least 30 times or more. It doesn't do anything when the battery is put back in. I've tried this multiple times. I've checked every connector and they all seem perfectly fine. Im out of warranty so I can't send it in to be fixed. This laptop has been a disaster, the screen constantly flickers and the hinges are both cracked. I'll never buy another Lenovo.

Hello, I purchased a U310 Touch about 15 months ago that is no longer under warranty. Every time I try and boot the machine I receive no response from the machine. The power light turns on, the fan spins, the HDD turns on but the screen never displays anything. Even when I close the clamshell the machines power button stays lit and won't shut off unless I kill the power by holding down the power button. My troubleshooting steps have been:Reset RAMUnplug battery from motherboardWait for battery to completely drainBoot with HDMI monitor to see if anything displays (nothing would, so LCD panel should be good) With all of these, I cant get the machine to fully function. It feels like the machine is in total sleep mode, I feel like it needs a new motherboard. With my experience with lenovo I feel like this will be the last machine I ever purchase from them, this is unacceptable for a laptop of this age.  Does anyone have any similar situations? If so did you purchase a new motherboard and was it good to go? I'm very comfortable with ripping machines apart since I used to work on a help desk. I would hate to spend $100 on a part and waste all that time if it wont fix the issue.  Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank you.

I just got this computer about 3 weeks ago and I love it but there is one thing I find incredibly annoying and that is the app switch function on the touchpad. Whenever you accidently swipe left on the touch pad (for ANYTHING, whether I'm surfing the web, trying to rewind a video on youtube, or just messing with my cursor) the screen switches to another app. I find this function to be incredibly annoying since its on the left side of the touchpad and that is where our fingers naturally go to since we tend to use left-click. Why the makers didn't put this function on the right side (or at all) of the touchpad will remain a mystery. However, please help me get rid of this annoying function that keeps switching me to another app while I'm perfectly fine using the one I'm focusing on at the moment. Thanks

Answer:How to turn off the App switch on the touch pad?

You can disable all the Edge Swipe functions by going to Mouse Properties, click on the Device Settings tab, select Synaptics ClickPad, press the Settings button, click on Edge Swipe, uncheck the Enable Edge Swipes checkbox.  But you'll lose all of: Enable Edge SwipesSelect the Enable Edge Swipes checkbox to enable a one-finger movement from the edge of the TouchPad in towards the center of the TouchPad:1. A swipe from the left edge to the center switches from the currently open application to the previously open application.2. A swipe from the right edge to the center opens or closes the Charms bar.3. A swipe from the the top edge to the center opens or closes the Application Bar.

I have a U310 Touch.  It crashed the other day and the windows repair came up.  I let it run all night and it was shutdown in the morning.  When i turned it back on, I just get a lit black screen.  There is no beeping or logos when it boots up.  Tried rebooting many times and always the same out come.   I than decided to replace the Harddrive.  I took the old harddrive and tried to boot it in my other machine.  When it would load it says it needed to repair windows but locks up everytime it tries to repair.  So I got a new HD and loaded windows onto from my other computer.  It boots just fine in the other computer.  I put the new HD into the laptop and nothing still the same problem.  Other things I have tried:- Unhooking power and battery and pushing the power button to clear out- Booting with CMOS battery unplugged- Pulling ram and booting ** this caused the screen to not even show **- Pushing the button on the side next to the power brings up a menu with four options and all options bring it back to the   black screen  Any ideas? **Edit**When I put a bootable linux usb in the USB slot, and use the Novo boutton i get the Novo Button Menu.  Any selection I make with the USB drive in I get "Secure Boot"  Image failed to verify with *ACCESS DENIED*

I have an envy m6 touchscreen that is giving me problems that i can't solve. It has been great up until recently. i was using my laptop last nite when suddenly it turned off but i didn't think that the battery shoukd have been dead yet. its acting as if the bat is empty and plugging it in just turn on the orange led by the power plug. when i press the power button it flashes for a second but the screen does nothing and it doesn't actually turn on.I'm using my phone to attempt to find a solution atm which is very frustrating. adding to the stress is the fact that i have school work projects and a midterm project on it that I need to finish.Almost forgot to mention it started doing a few other odd things over the last week such as the touchscreen going nuts registering phantom touches endlessly until i close/hibernate/shutdown it.

Hi, I have a 360 touch screen laptop (bought the middle of last year). The on/off button is placed on the side and usually 'clicks' when you press it to turn it on. I went to turn it on the next morning after using it the previous night, the 'click' that it usually made when you press it wasn't there. It was soft touch. I'm having trouble trying to explain it but hope that it can kind of be made sense of. This problem has resulted in me not being able to turn the laptop on. I was wondering if there was another way of turning my laptop on or if there is anyway of fixing it. Please help!!!!

Hi Friend. Don't worry I could understand the problem. What you mean is that the button on/off is stuck or locked and you need to press too hard for you to turn on or off. In this case you may need to take your computer to review to be repaired and can take off the button so that it works again. If your computer is under warranty and you have no way to open it, you better take it to repair so that you can help. I hope you find it useful information, you have nice day! Greetings. ^^

Hey all, I've been having some problems with starting up my IdeaPad.  When I hit the power button, it usually just turns on for a sec, then powers right off.  If I hold it down, it lights up for a bit, then lets out a loud BEEP for a few seconds, then goes back to being off.  I've tried holding down the power button while the battery and AC are unplugged, but nothing seems to help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

hi mike829,

Welcoem to Lenovo Community Forums!

I would suggest Checking the RAM and the HDD.

You will need to take them out and reinstall them one by one starting with the RAM.

The computer will turn on without the HDD so i suggest remove the HDD first then try testing out the RAM.

See if this will show any difference on hoe the system behaves now.

You can check this Maintenance Manual on how to get access to the parts

Hope this helps
Cheers!

I'm an artist, and so using the pen for the surface pro 4 is a breeze and makes drawing so much easier, but it acts up sometimes. I disabled touch screen in Device Manager so I could draw freely without worrying about messing up the piece with accidental hand contact to the screen. Though it works sometimes, most always when I make contact with the screen it still registers, not fully, but just enough that it ruins what I'm doing. Please fix this or help me to fix it, I've got commissions to do, and this isn't helping at the least.

Ladies and Gents,
Brand new here and by the looks of some of the topics, I'm way over my head. This post may be in the wrong part of the forum but, I thought I'd at least start here. I have a HP Laptop that's in the neighborhood of 12-14 months old. It came with Vista Home premium which, worked OK at best. I recently got a chance to pick up Windows 7 Professional for a very reasonable price so, I had a friend install a brand new version of it along with a newer version of Microsoft Office 2010.

Well, here's the problem. The computer has an "on-off" button just above the touch pad. Before the installation of Windows 7 Professional, the button worked just fine in turning the touch pad on and off. Well, now it has absolutely no effect on the touch pad at all. It still changes the colors of the tiny lights, just above the button, from a white, (indicating "on") to orange, (indicating "off") but, zero effect on the operation of the touch pad.

This is quite frustrating because of the cursor movement while typing etc. It throws it all over the place and all of a sudden the page is changed, I'm typing in a different sentence three paragraphs above where I should be typing etc. What a pain. Is there something that changed the effect of the button during the installation of Windows 7?

If so, how could an operation system change, even as big as going from Vista to Windows 7 have an effect on MANUAL BUTTON above the touch pad. In my opinion, that button... Read more

I am using windows journal a having problems that I can not turn off finger input when writing with a pen. The screen becomes insensitive to a finger when I am about an inch away from the screen with the pen, but this is not enough to avoid accidental dots and lines with your finger. Can one either configure the pen distance from the screen from which on finger touch is disabled? Or can one disable finger touch altogether? I have been following some discussions on forums providing some workarounds, but maybe there is a simpler solution around?138

I have an HP all-in-one TouchSmart 320 PC, that is about 4 years old. About a month ago we went to turn it on and nothing happened. Originally, we thought it was the power source as the power supply box green light was flashing. We have tried 3 different cords and still nothing. Can anyone tell us what is going on? I do remember that before we tried to turn it on about a week prior to that I had shut down the computer, but it had updates so it was doing that but I never paid attention how it shut off, whether expected or unexpectedly. Can anyone help?!?

Machine: Lenovo IdeaPad U530 Touch

Symptoms: pushing the power button turns the computer on for approximately 1 second.  Power button lights, backlit keyboard lights, fan starts up, then after one second, everything turns off.  When plugged in, the battery light is lit.

What I've already tried:
* The magic code - unplug adapter, disconnect the battery and press the power button 10 times, then hold it for 60 seconds. Then restart as normal.
* Leaving it plugged in for a day.
* Leaving it unplugged for a month.
* Reseat the RAM
* Replace the RAM with known working stick.
* Removing the RAM completely.
* Reseat the hard drive.
* Replace the hard drive with a HD from another Lenovo laptop.
* Removing the HD completely.
* Reseat the display cable where it connects to MB.
* Hold down enter while hitting the power button
* Tilting the laptop 45° while hitting the power button.
*Praying and offering to never look at porn again if it would just boot.

None of these had any effect.  Exact same process every time: powers on for one second, then powers off.

I've smelled the MB for any signs of fried components.  Nothing.  Everything looks good on the inside.

Possibly related: before this, I was having terrible times with the boot process.  System would take forever to boot, then blue screen, saying there was a problem and the system would reboot for me, then it would reboot as normal and everything would be fine.  ... Read more

Hello Jsfrench,Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try to see if you have any recovery media, if you are able to install an older OS on the unit, I had something similar happen, but in my case, the unit would not boot after trying to install Win 7 on it, Win 8.1 seemed to have fixed it.

Otherwise, by the sound of things you pretty much tried everything, including prayers

My computer just won't turn on anymore. I tried almost everything on the forums about how to turn it back on. But it still won't turn on. So I took it to a local computer repair shop, they said my mother board is damaged. But they didn't look at the mother board, they just tested out the power cord and see if it gives off the right amount of amps. They said it does. So I'm lost and don't know what to do, this is my first computer and I use it for just about everything. If anyone has a tip or two that would be helpful.

There is no "nice" option to disable touchscreen, for what I read you need to disable it from the Windows Device Manager.

It is like: Open Device Manager > expand "Human Interface Devices" > right-click "HID-compliant touch screen" and select "Disable".

Check if you find the correct "Human Interface Devices" to disable. This is how users are disable the touchscreen.

Ok so I bought my father a laptop a few years back and now he has passed it on to me. I am wanting to turn off the tapping on the touch pad but I just can't find an option to do so.
I have installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro so there could be some drivers missing that come on the recovery CD.
I have tried to track down any drivers but I can't find my Laptop anywhere. I ran the Toshiba program which is supposed to detect which laptop you have but it came up with nothing when I ran it and I also searched in the drivers section on the Toshiba site but my laptop doesn't even appear in the choices of laptops.

It is a Toshiba Equium and on the back it says Equium A60-173 and the model number is PSA67E-00700C8J.

So if someone can please tell me how to turn off the tapping on the touch pad that would be great. I can't turn the touch pad off completely because obviously I use it to control the mouse pointer.

I saw a post that said to press Fn and F9 but that did nothing, probably because I don't have the correct drivers installed.

Any help would be great.

Answer:Need To Turn Off Touch Pad Tapping on Equium A60-173

Hi buddy,

The tapping function of touchpad can be disabled in touchpad driver options. FN+F9 key combination will disable the whole touchpad so it?s another function.

The tapping function can only be disabled if the touchpad drivers are installed. If you install Windows from a normal Microsoft disk no drivers are installed and everything you have to install yourself. If you use the Toshiba recovery disk all drivers and tools will be installed automatically because it contains an image of factory settings. So recovery disk is more comfortable.

All drivers and tools that you need now can be downloaded here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
*Archive* > Equium > Equium A60 > PSA67E

As you can see you must only search in Archive to find the drivers ;)

Ok I have this laptop that belonged to my father and I have a problem. Basically I am wanting to turn off the 'tapping' on the touch pad but I just can't.
I have searched online for an answer but nothing I try will work. There are no settings in the control panel, either in the mouse settings or anywhere else that let you turn the tapping off.
Something I read said to press Fn and F9 but that does nothing.
I do remember turning the tapping off once when my dad had the laptop but I can't do it the same way because I installed a fresh copy of Windows and it wasn't from the recovery CD so the software for the touch pad isn't there.
I have tried searching for the software but it appears that this model of laptop doesn't exist!
It is a Toshiba Equium EA60-173 and the model number is PSA67E-00700C8J but I just can't find anything to do with the laptop on the Toshiba website. I did manage to find and try a program called Toshiba Touch and Launch which let me change some aspects of the touch pad but not the blasted tapping.
So if anyone can think of anything else I can try apart from what I have tried already then I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance.

I have an ideapad s415 touch. I've had the laptop since february...so it's only 3 months old. I hardly use it because I am constantly using my work laptop. Therefore my Lenovo is always sitting on my coffee table. So today I was using the laptop...I was typing up my resume in Word and then all of a sudden the letters wouldn't appear. This was a problem I've been having for the entire weekend and I would just close the laptop and it would work. So today when my typing didn't appear, I closed the laptop and opened and it was frozen on my lock screen. I tried pressing buttons to wake it up but nothing happened. So I turned it off and when I tried to turn it back on nothing happened....just blackness. So right now my laptop is dead and I don't know why and how. I tried all of the trouble shooting...taking out the battery and pressing the power button for 30 seconds...I tried pressing the novo button on the side....but nothing is happening. When I press the power button 3 lights turn on...the power button on top and the two lights at the edge of the laptop. They stay lit for 10 seconds and then the lights go out. Also, when I press the power button, there is no sound. So yeah, after 3 months, my laptop doesn't work anymore. I would like to note that it has never been dropped and water has never touched it. What should I do?????

Hello: I was using my U530 Touch and suddenly it shut off. It will not turn back on, either. I was browsing the internet at the time, not overworking it to my knowledge. I didn't spill anything on it, drop it, or do anything recently of which I'm aware that would cause some sort of effect. I didn't notice it overheating. The A/C adaptor was plugged in at the time, and now, the charging light for the battery is in fact the only thing that will function. I assume it's a hardware issue, given the complete lack of response, but if it's possible that there's some way to wake it up into a safe mode and address it from there, I'd be happy to try. Any ideas on what's happened here or any at-home fixes I can try? Thanks.

Hi
I've got a z20t-B-107. Lovely machine, upgraded to win 10, all working fine - I had to download a new Wacom driver to get the 'left-click' to work with the pen.

I'm using it in tablet mode to digitise some data points on a map, and to sketch with the pen. However, when I rest my hand on the screen it 'activates' the touch screen and makes things go crazy. I really need to be able to temporarily switch off the touch digitiser and have only the Wacom digitiser running, and if I can toggle it on/off somehow that would be useful. Otherwise i need to use the pen in a very unnatural position to avoid touching the screen with my hand.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note which uses the Wacom type digitiser - it doesn't seem to suffer from this, as soon as it detects the pen near the screen it appear to switch off the touch part.

I would be grateful for any help - I've tried search engines but they only seem to give results about touch pads, and that's completely different...

Many thanks in advance

Answer:Portege Z20t - can I turn touch screen OFF?

Hi,

I use a Z20t too (but with Win8.1) and have the same problem. I have decided to switch off the touch complete. It is not a good solution, but a good working with OneNote is only with switching off the touch functionality possible.
Maybe this is a possible solution for you.
In Win8.1 I switched off the driver in the device manager.

I found the following steps here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...d55591d?auth=1

1. Right-click and select "All Apps" at the lower right corner, then select Control Panel
2. Select Hardware and Sound
3. Select Device Manager
4. Select Human Interface Devices
5. From the list, look for the driver for the touch screen. This can be tricky since on my tablet they are all listed as "USB Input Device" and there are 3 of them. I found it by disabling and re-enabling one at a time until the touch screen stopped responding. You can also identify the touch screen by checking the Properties | Details and get the "Hardware Ids" then do a search online to see what the device is. In my case, the touch screen has the ID USB/VID_0EEF&PID_7302.
6. Once you know which is the touch screen, disable the driver and the touch screen should no longer work
Enable this device to make the touch screen work again.

I have a problem using the Yoga 2 Pro with an regular external monitor while the lid of the laptop is fully closed. After about 20 minuts the cursor and other things start acting weard. I noticed that perhaps heat from the keyboard controlls the closed screen with random movements, just like as if I touch the screen. That means that i can use the Lenovo only opened, but on my clean desk I like to be able to use it closed (with my external monitor). So, id there a function to have the screen and the touch function deactivated while the laptop lid is fully closed?

Answer:Yoga 2 pro - How to turn OFF touch screen function?

Dear FranFlorida

Welcome in lenovo community

Kindly be informed that when you close the lid in any mode ( sleep, Do nothing, etc ) the screen is going off , as long the LCD is getting touched when you close it so it might be the LCD switch cable issue , but i would recommend if you can do the recovery and then check if the machine can work normally or not

Let me know

Thanks
Alaa

My lenovo u310 touch had wifi issues - I had to reinstall the drivers for the centric wifi adapter multiple times to get wifi to work, and it would stop working (multiple times a day, sometimes every few minutes). In order to troubleshoot, I opened up the computer, unplugged and reseated the wifi adapter, and assembled the case back. Pretty straightforward procedure, no damage or force involved. However, the computer is suddenly dead - no response on powering on or plugging into charge. No leds coming on, nothing. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer:U310 touch won't turn on after opening case

Hi ayushagarwal26,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If the problem started after you put back the parts, I suggest you start it backwards.

If the computer is having issue powering up like No power light come on when you turn it on there might be a problem with the connection of the Power related devices
Please see the maintenance manual of your system here.

Look at page 65

I've highlighted those components you need to check. Try Unplugging them and reseating them firmly.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

When posting it is most helpful if you provide the model of your computer and what Operating system you are running.  I understand you accidentally turned off the Touchpad., and would now like to enable it. I am sending you a link to a page for  touchpad. You will need to select the one for your operating system click here. You should also be able to enable it,  following these steps. Click the Start button, and type in Mouse. Click on  Mouse to open it, click on Device Settings. You should be able to enable and disable the Touchpad here.

I want to use colour calibrators such as colourmunki for my graphics work. These need me to place something on the screen.

How do I turn off the touch screen temporarily whilst I do this?

I have tried the manual and control panel with no luck.
Thanks for any help

Answer:How to turn off touch screen on Qosmio DX730?

Hi

Did you find out how to do that?
I think it?s not possible to disable the touch screen.
Did not find any info in user manual?. Maybe you can check the available BIOS settings. Power up the unit and press F2 to access the BIOS.
But to be honest I doubt that an on/off option would be available there.

In 8.1, on a Surface Pro, when I select the option to turn off touch cover sounds it does not work. I have tried rebooting to no avail. The really weird thing is that for a different user on the same machine it toggles as expected.
I saw another post that someone was seeing this on a Surface RT as well.
Any thoughts.

Any thoughts. I have the same problem with mine (surface 2 with touch cover 2). I also replicated your findings... created a new local account and that worked fine. With the new local account turned on the sound and the clicks were audible, turned it off and the sounds went away.
I also went as far as resetting the entire machine to factory settings with the touch cover attached.

I just bought HP 1000-1b09AU Notebook PC. And I think the touchpad on/off (button?) is not working. I know how to turn on/off the touchpad, it is by doing double tap/touch on the turn on/off area of the touchpad.I don't know why it's not working, since I've already installed the driver of the (Synaptics) touchpad. How do I resolve this? Help me, please.

I currently own and use a "Y700 Touch-15ISK Laptop (ideapad)" . It is only around 6 months old, and I've run into my first major error. Issue : I closed the screen on my computer overnight, when I re-opened my computer in the morning, I restarted my computer, and now it won't turn back on. Details about the issue : When I try and turn my computer on, the power button lights up and my keyboard lights up for like 5 seconds, but the screen does nothing but stay black. After those 5 seconds, my keyboard doesn't light up anymore, but I still hear the computer fans running.  **PLEASE HELP**

Please can anyone help? I want to disable an icon that appears when i use the Touch Pad. Think it's probably something to do with scrolling. I can't find any reference to it in the User Manual. It's annoying and I don't want it.

I have Win 8 on a HP Envy.   I already found out about the sudden jumping to prior part of sentence / paragraph issues with the scroll functions of this machine.    With that happiness in mind and no cure to be found I wonder why my machine doe this new trick.
I know you can move the screen around like a cell phone, fine and dandy.   What seems to happen is somewhere out of the blue (and ocurring more frequently ) if I try to move it via scrolling in any way other than the right side scroll bar the screen goes larger and smaller.  At the same time if I try to type anything in a search box each key acts as a function instead of a letter.    The only solution is to restart and it goes away for a while.    Could this be an unintended key I am striking or is it yet another problem relating to the scroll function of this computer series / win 8 program?   It hasn't done it since I bought it in Dec 2013 but seems to be happening more and more often.    Thanks .

Answer:Why does my touch scrolling suddenly resize and keystrokes turn to functions.

It actually does sound like you're striking a key.
I've had the keyboard go whacky as you describe and always found it easier and faster to reboot it, than to figure out which key it is that I keep hitting.
I imagine that the "guilty" key is what is also affecting the scroll too.

I have an Inspiron 15R touchscreen laptop that will not turn on at all now. I've tried clearing the RAM. I've tried taking out the battery & attempting to power up with just the AC adapter & nothing. I tried plugging in the AC adapter while holding down the power button...nothing. My warranty ended in January, go figure. I put off servicing this due to health reasons and now it seems from everyone else's issues with this laptop that I'm "SOL." I bought this laptop just for creating graphic designs & editing photos & videos. I barely got to use the laptop to be completely honest and now I honestly don't know what to do. If I lose all of this work from all these past years, I can't imagine where I'm going to be able to start again.
Not to mention my backup Dell laptop is now also not starting. It doesn't recognize the battery, OR the AC adapter. When I tried to remedy that issue, Windows wouldn't start. So I'm out of options, & all of my laptops. My 3rd older version of a Dell laptop overheated, fried the screen, & all the necessary connections on the inside.
I'm now typing this from my iPad mini, a piece of equipment that has actually stayed reliable for me. I never wanted to admit it, but now I see first hand why people prefer Apple over PC's. I don't have time to worry about customizing every single detail about my devices & operating systems. All I know is that I need reliable platfo... Read more

When I open my phone book I can't just edit my contacts or look at the phone number they are under. If I tap or even hold down on contact it automatically dials the person. How do I turn off the on touch dialing?

Answer:Editing and Calling Contacts in phone book, how do I turn off touch dialing?

Sounds like the behaviour you get in the actual phone app/dialer.
In the dialer tapping on an entry directly initiates a phone call. On the very right of each entry is a small icon. Tapping that goes to the contact information, from where you can edit said contact. But for an overview of all contacts, just launch the contacts/people app.

Hello everyone,It seems that my XPS 9550 has a motherboard issue. I have got this laptop for several months before this problem happen. At first, the power button needs to pressed twice before the computer can turn on. Pressing it once will only cause the button to light up and fans to start spinning for only seconds. Then, after about a week, the problem got worse. I have to static discharge the BIOS and charge the computer for about 12 to 24 hours to get it working again. The light indicator did show that the CMOS battery is dead several times, and I had the CMOS battery replaced, but still no luck. I have run the diagnostics many times, but everything seems perfect. And I can get into the OS once the computer powers on.en.community.dell.com/.../This post points out a similar problem, but I think it has nothing to do with the battery or most of the motherboard components.Does anyone have encountered this before? Any advice will be appreciated.- Peter

I have a bit of a strange issue with my computer. Forgive me if I'm a little too descriptive, but I'm not sure which details are relevant and which are not for such a problem. First, the specs:

Model: eMachines T2984
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel Celeron D Processor 340, 2.93 GHZ, 256K L2 Cache, 533 MHZ FSB
Power Supply Unit: Bestec Model: ATX-250-12E REV: P7
Motherboard: I can't tell, but it appears to be an Intel motherboard by the number of Intel labels on it
RAM: 512 MB DDR SD originally, added 1 GB a couple of months ago
Let me know if you need anything else...

Yesterday, I got home from shopping around 1PM, and I tried to start the computer. I pushed the power button, and nothing happened. I checked all of the cords, and they were all plugged in. Not knowing what else to do, I opened up the case to see if there was something obviously wrong. The only thing that I noticed (other than a bunch of dust) was that the power supply unit was still hot. I shut the computer down about 5 hours earlier after about 20 minutes of use, so it seemed strange that the power supply was still hot. I unplugged the computer just in case there was some sort of fire hazard.

At this point, I called a friend who suggested that the problem might be with the motherboard or the power supply unit.

A few hours later, I plugged it back in to try to get it to work. As soon as I plugged it in, the entire unit suddenly started "running" by itsel... Read more

Answer:Computer Doesn't Turn on, Fans and Some Lights Turn on Automatically

I would suspect that the Power Supply Unit (PSU) is going south. If you have a spare one laying around, install it and see if the problem goes away.
You can buy a new, better PSU from Newegg for about $40.00. I have used a Thermaltake 430 watt in one of my machines for some time now and it works well.
You will have to check the size of your PSU to be sure a new one will fit into the eMachine.
Here's the page with that PSU on it. It's the last one on the list.

Ad-Hoc requires that you restart the session each time.

Connectify pro has an auto start option that does this but it's a paid version, connectify lite is free but I'm not sure if has auto start.

Download - Connectify

I just put together my first computer 6 months ago. It abruply shutdow in the middle of writing a paper for school. I couldn't turn it back on right away. after trying a few times, it turned on. All the fans are working even the fan on the power supply, the motherboards lights are on. My graphic card in on the motherboard. I think it might be my power supply because when I first put it together I didn't plug in the smaller power connection to the motherboard and the same thing is happening, black screen. It's like my computer isn't giving my monitor any feed. I will have more info when I get home. I can't get in to bios or safe mode.

Hello Folks,

I'm not sure if my issue is with hardware (possibly MB?) or graphics card, so please forgive me if I've posted in the wrong section. The first problem I was having was random blue screens of death that displayed graphic card driver issues. I was able to remedy that by updating my graphic drivers and have not had an issue since.

However, ever since then I have been running into another hardware or graphics-related issue that is random and completely stumping me. What is happening is, I will be on my computer, leave and turn my monitor off, and (randomly) when I come back to use my computer again, when I turn on the monitor there is no signal and a black screen (e.g. when I turn my monitor on my desktop will pop up and the light on my monitor will turn blue, when it doesn't turn on there will be a black screen and the light on the monitor stays yellow as if it is idle). I have tried swapping out the monitor to see if that was the issue and the same problem persists, so it does not appear to be my monitor or VGA cables.

The only way I can temporarily fix this issue is to reboot/restart my computer and viola! The monitor works again and I can see everything. This issue is very random. Sometimes I can go weeks without an incident, other times this is happening a couple times a week. I honestly don't know if it's my motherboard or video card or what. My PC isn't overheating, I'm not overclocking, and all of my drivers are updated.

I'm not sure what... Read more

Hey guys, little help here please.
Sometimes when I try to turn on IS it tries to turn On but everything greys out and nothing happens. Last time I tried it was about 4 hrs ago and since then its been hung up there. I can't open IS from settings now, Loading... shows up and it crashes after ~20sec. I can't turn off wifi because it becomes 'frozen' and when I press Back/Start button nothing happens but if I long press back button it show my active window is Start screen even though I am still in Wifi settings. After I release button wifi closes and end up in start screen.
I know if I soft reset everything comes back to normal. 99% I can even turn on IS. But why does this happen and how do you solve this problem (I know in the past some ppl used to have it)

Answer:Internet sharing doesn't turn on + cant turn off wifi

After a bit of searching this was the only answer I could find.
Remove/uninstall your nokia acount, install access point....you will get your internet sharing.
Not sure if that will help you or not but it's worth a shot.

Hello Microsoft team,
We need for an application to unplug and replug usb3 - not physically but with a program.
We checked a lot on the internet but did not find answer how to do it in windows 8.1 pro (in c++).
We know that hibernation creates something alike, but how can we only turn down the power of usb3 and return the power back on back via program (in c++).
Thank you for your help.
