Ideapad z500: Keyboard backlight/Screen brightness not working

Question: Ideapad z500: Keyboard backlight/Screen brightness not working

The hard drive died so I bought and installed an SSD into the system, fresh install of Windows 10 64bit. I have managed to find the chipset and other basic drivers but have no ability to turn the backlight of the keyboard on or adjust the screen brightness. I believe the brightness of the screen can be resolved by rolling back to a previous intel HD driver however no matter what I have tried cannot get the backlight of the keyboard to function. Any assisstance would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Ideapad z500 keyboard backlight stopped working.

SoapForBrains wrote:Can someone help, please. From an off condition, powering up the unit should cause the backlight to switch on and then off. This is an indication that the backlight is fine. Pressing Fn + Spacebar should toggle on/off the keyboard. If you cannot obtain the indicated observations then probably you need to replace the keyboard. Try contacting Lenovo and inquire about it.

Hi all,To be honest I`m quite desperate as I am not in my home country where I bought it anymore 12 days ago, and I would hate to wreck the warranty, so I truly hope someone could help me here.I bought the non touch version of it 12 days ago in Italy, downgraded to win7 and had some crazy issues with the standby, so I removed the Intel power management and all went well. The only issue that lasted was the occasional flickering of the monitor: it went black randomly for a microsecond like 2 or 3 times a day. Not even everyday. So I thought nothing of it.Yesterday I played for hours without the slightest issue. Today I turned it down after browsing the Internet on battery and plugged it in. After a few hours I unplugged it and turned it on, there was ni backlight in the monitor.

Good day! A few days ago has turned off keyboards backlight of lenovo Z500. I tried to reboot the laptop, but backlight still doesn't work as before by pressing FN+Space buttons. I hope this is a software bug and I could solve it without help of service center. But I can't solve it without your help, as the website and the Internet has no effect, and I have no desire to reinstall the system because of backlight. Maybe someone knows how to make it work again?

Answer:backlight on keyboard for z500 touch not working

hi Gadi621,

Welcome to the Forums.

I'm not seing any changelog related to any keyboard backlight changee from the BIOS readme.txt file so I think it's unlikely that updating the BIOS is the cause of the problem.

Just to check, when you power up the machine, do you see the keyboard backlight turning on?

Ideally, for the backlit to work, the following must be met:
1. A backlit-type keyboard must be installe (you can tell if the keyboard has backlights when there's a "crown" like icon on the space bar.
    - Link to picture
2. The keyboard ribbon & power cable (for backlit) must be properly connected to the motherboard
    - Link to picture
    - Link to picture

If one of the following is not met, the backlight feature won't work.

Hi all, I've had my Lenovo ideaPad Z500 Touch for 2 years already, and this is the first time my KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT has stopped working. I am using Windows 8.1 (always updated) on a 64-bit OS. There has been no trauma to the device prior to the disfunction, however I did recently install CCleaner to my laptop to speed up the starting time (which may or may not have anything to do with the disfunction, but I am bookmarking it as a possibility since before installation my keyboard backlight was working just fine). Around the same time I also recently updatedWindows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - March 2015 (KB890830) upon recommendation from Windows Update, prior to which there was also nothing wrong with my keyboard backlight. (1) I have tried the Fn+SpaceBar option (as I usually do to toggle on/off when I'm doing work), but the backlight still does not turn on.(2) I have tried reinstalling Lenovo Energy Management (as has been recommended in previous posts), but it still does not work even after restarting. Since the last post on this was some time ago (last one on 2nd January 2014 with solutions that do not work for me), I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me on this issue. Thank you so much,

Hi. I have a new Lenovo ideapad Z500 laptop. At first only problem was me getting used to windows 8. However, having reduced the screen brightness I am unable to increase it at all. It is very dark but the indicator shows it to be at maximum brightness. Having gone through instructions, and tried everything I am at a loss. Have I missed something before I return this as faulty? Many thanks.

Hi,For your information, almost everyone says it's working by "fn+space" but for my laptop it was "double space", i don't know why.Anyway, backlight was working fine until yesterday. Fan started to get loud so i took my laptop apart and cleaned the fan. The noise is gone but backlight stopped working. Capslock, numlock lights and fn key are working, i do not know if there is a correlation. I read almost every topic about the issue but none of them helped.

Answer:Ideapad Z500 Keyboard back light - stopped working after Windows 10 upgrade

Update: I purchased a genuine second hand keyboard online fo 22.00 and the backlight is working perfectly. A good way to test the functionaility of your keyboard is to see if the light comes on during the boot-up. If it does not then it is either a loose connection or a faulty keyboard. It is worth opening up the keyboarg to see if there is a loose connection...see this video on how to do it, it very simple and will take you less than 5 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lK4mKT_7gA If the connection are ok and you still do not see the back light working during the boot up, then I am afraid to say that you have a faulty keyboard. Don't waste you time like I did trying to get it to work...get a replacement!

Hi all, as per title, I bought 13 days ago a new z500 in Italy and moved here for studying. Suddendly the monitor light died. I cannot turn it on at all. Most probably is a cable doing faux contact or whatever. Is there anyway I can use the warranty or not void my warranty getting it repaired? I cannot afford not to have a computer for the duration of my stay, and thats why I bought a new laptop! It should be covered by the international warranty, but of course it looks like there is no local drop point. Any idea/mail address/whatever? Thanks.

I have a z500. I updated from win8 to win8.1. But I cant seem to increase the brightness.. It is interesting because the other hot keys work correctly. I've even upped the brightness in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work. I pressed the f12 key once, while not holding fn (the key thats supposed to increase brightness). The brightness was instantly turned to minimum and I cant turn it up again. The f11 key for brightness decrease seems to do nothing. I would really like a solution to this problem fast since its really hard to see anything on the screen with the brightness turned all the way down. I  tried to increase brightness with and without Lenovo Energy Management in Win8.1 and in BIOS, but  nothing changed.

I have a new z500 that I've downgraded to Windows 7 64bit. For the most part I have everything working. I accidentally hit the brightness + (yes, +) and it instantly dimmed the screen to where it is barely viewable. It seems that hitting that one key decreased the brightness to the minimum amount. I've rebooted, looked for a setting in the BIOS, hit the Brightness +/- and can't increase the brightness. It is interesting because the other hot keys work correctly. I've even upped the brightness in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work. The screen is extremely dim whenever the machine is powered on (including the BIOS), not just in Windows. I tried a lot of intel chipset drivers, the available Intel HD 4000 drivers in Win8 and win7 too, but nothing working. Can someone please help with how to up the brightness?

I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Z500 around 3 weeks back. I have had two problems since then (the second an indirect result of the first):1. Around 2 nights back, the Touchpad suddenly stopped working. It as not disabled anywhere and had been working completely fine until then.2. A friend of mine was checking out the Touchpad problem when, just half an hour back, the screen became VERY dim. When I press the keyboard brightness shortcuts, the brightness meter increases and decreases on the screen as usual (the way the volume bar does), but there's no actual effect.  Can someone please help me with both? I'e gone through the forums for both of these, but found no solutions. I've checked the drivers, brightness plans etc, but nthing has worked.

4. Install Intel Video Drive for Windows 7 64bit and reboot.
5. Pressing Fn+ F11/F12 to toggle the brightness should now work.

Hello,

Since installing the Windows 10 upgrade, my lenvono ideapad z500,the system does not recognize the up or down depending on the brightness of the screenalways remains fixed at 100% of maximum screen brightness, then perform uninstalling the software display driver which is intel hd 4000 graphics adapter changing it by microsoft basic screen and if this basic controller allows adjustment of the maximum intensity between 100 % and 0 % minimum adjustment screen brightness. But if I go back and update the driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000, returns and function brightness adjustment is disabled, to stay set to the maximum brightness setting the screen.
Being all for now, I await a reply.Yours sincerely.Paola

Hello guys, I bought my Lenovo Y570 almost 7 months ago, everything was working fantastically well (software and hardware) until last night. I opened up my laptop, turned it on, and waited like a min or so, I heard Windows booting... But the screen simply wont show me anything, only a black screen. The backlight works, and if I press Fn + F2 the backlight will turn off and on. I've tried the taking off the battery and waiting 30 seconds trick but it doesn't work... The laptop boots perfectly, and the rest of the hardware is in perfect condition (integrated keyboard, fan, usb ports, and so on), even my Windows Home Basic. I live in Venezuela, so I apologize for my poor English since it's not my first language. Thank you very much beforehand.

My laptop is supposed to have the backlight feature, and it specifically says on the page specs for the model that it has a backlight on the keyboard.  It does not come on, <Fn+Space> does not turn it on, and I cannot figure out how to turn it on,   Windows 10settings say the model is "ideapad 510-15ISK" help?

Is anyone experiencing the same problem and has anyone found a permanent fix, because it's getting quite annoying. Thank you.

HelloI recently purchased a Lenovo Y50-70 online and had it shipped to me. When I first booted it up the screen was very dark, however it was on because I could see a very faint image. I plugged it in to my external monitor and that worked so I set up the laptop. Half way through setup the laptop screen turned on to max brightness. The next day I was at school and the screen randomly went very dark. I dont remember what I pressed at the time. I went home and conected it to my external monitor again and about an hour later the screen turned back on at full brightness. I then unplugged it from the external and everything worked fine.I then went to lower the brightness and when I used the Fn + Down Arrow key to lower it, it turned off completely. I waited about 10 minutes and it randomly turned on again. I then tried adjusting the brightness from the WIndows 8 sidebar using the on-screen slider and when I moved it the screen turned off completely again. How do I fix this? Should I return the laptop and exchange it for a new one or can this be fixed?

Good morning,  a few hours ago I accidentally spilled some water on the keyboard of my Lenovo Z500 Touch. The PC was going with battery only, not connected with adapter. I cleaned the water immediately. I turned it off, only turned it on a couple of times to see if everything was ok. Now (about 6 hours from the accident) most keys of the keyboard do not work. I turned the pc upside down, hope it is only some water left within the keys and now I'm waiting that the water dries.  any other advice? Thank you

Hi all, I have an issue with my Lenovo Z500 touch. The USB 3.0 port on the left is not working. When I attach an external HDD, the HDD light is on, so it is powered, it is not seen by my pc.I have looked in the Device Manager and there's an error in the USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller. It says that the device cannot start. Tried to udate the driver, but it says that the driver is up to date. I have Windows 8.1. The other 2 USB 2.0 ports work fine. Any idea? Could be a driver problem? For as long as I can remember my backlight on my lenovo p500 hasnt worked. I do know it has one and did work at one point. I have also read that most people who also have this problem will at least get it to turn on on boot but mine doesnt even fo that and they also say that the other Fn key combos dont work but mine do. So my question is is there any other way to turn it on to test it  for hardware problems and is there some software fix I can do to make it work if its not hardware?

Hi, it appears that the elan mouse pad on my ideapad Z500 is not working. The only way I can use it is by plugging in an external mouse via USB. I've tried restarting the laptop several times but doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Please advise?

Answer:Ideapad Z500 ELAN mouse pad not working

hi chazchenko,

Welcome to the Forums.

You didn't mention the OS that you're using but if the machine came preloaded with Windows 8, can you try the following:
1. Press the Windows key? +R and type devmgmt.msc. On the Device Manager, navigate to the Mice and other pointing devices and ensure that the ELAN touchpad is present and is not disabled (uninstall it if necessary to refresh the device). Also, check if the Rollback Driver is clickable to isolate a faulty driver.

2. Hold the Shift key while doing a restart to boot into the Advanced Startup Options or press the OneKey Recovery button while the computer is turned off to boot into the System Recovery Options and from here, check if the internal mouse if it's working.

If the touchpad still doesn't work then there's likely an imminent failure on the touchpad. If you're no longer in warranty, you can try to open it up and remove and reinsert the Touchpad cable inplace and observe.

If you're still under warranty then I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk for service.

Hi.I have a laptop with windows 8.1. The problem is out of my 3 USB ports (2 USB2.0 and 1 USB 3.0) USB 3.0 does not work at all. When i try to plugin any device like a Pendrive it dosent read, if I insert a cooler it gives no power. I think it may be a hardware problem but in the device managerthere is 1 USB Root HUB(xHCI) which i think is for my 3.0, however some tabs seems to be missing like Power, Advanced.

Answer:USB 3.0 Ports not working in lenovo ideapad z500.

I had this exact same problem, an external drive only worked in right side usb 2.0 port at stupid slow speeds on my z510 i7.  I tried deleting all the choices in system devices and letting it reinstall, but that did not change anything. Lenovo gave me the worst customer service and their computers suck, this is the first time I bought one of them and will be the last.

I've always had blue screens periodically with this laptop - had it just over a year now - but they never really bothered me. Until this morning when I woke up and tried to turn it on, after a lengthy loadup screen with the lenovo logo it went straight to a blue screen. As soon as the screen came up the laptop shut off, not giving me time to see what the error code is. When it restarts it tries to boot up system repair then goes to a black screen for ~10 minutes before blue screening and promptly restarting again. This time the restart is like the first time, straight to blue screen, then the repair to blue screen again. It just repeats this process over and over. I'm running windows 8 (not 8.1) and F8ing on the startup screen doesn't work, any help please?

Hi, my sons Z500 screen has cracked and I am after a replacement screen. This is the non touch sensitive screen and has a gloss finish. Could anyone tell me if Lenovo used just one screen for this laptop or if they used a couple of different types of screens during manufacture, like some other companies. I know I can remove the old screen to have a look at the specs, but my son is still using the laptop with an external monitor and would prefer me not to take his precious computer apart until I have the new screen.  Hi there, I want to replace my device's default screen panel (1366x768) with a FULL HD (1920 x 1080) panel. I didn't open the case of my laptop to see the serial of the panel cause of warranty situations. My Partners cat manages to know my Z500 from a table about 10 minutes ago and it has broke the housing for the screen. Atleast one screw has snapped from the metal back plate of the screen that ataches to the 'top'(black bit in image) of the laptop I've attached images to show where the damage is. My question is how can I go about getting a new housing for this laptop? It seems (at this early stage) no other damage has occured.

Hello, I'm having a problem with my laptop's LCD screen, it has started few days ago when i noticed that the backlight goes off and on like crazy, and then remaining on like normal. yesterday it did that again , and after a while the light totally went off. The screen is showing content and when working with an external monitor it all works fine , the computer works fine, but the screen is 0% bright i.e no lights at all, i can still see content with external light but its very dim. Today light came back and now has gone again. It's like the screen faces a shortage in electricity or something, This is frustrationg , please help. What should i do PS: i believe this has nothing to do with drivers or system, its material problem in the hardware.

Answer:Screen backlight problem in my ideapad 300

Hi makhloofy ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The way it shows fine on the external isolates the issue with the LCD panel itself.

Possibility of hardware failure is apparent specially if display goes on /off when changing the angle of the lid as if the cable connection is being changed or the LCD backlight is not ok and also having the same issue in the BIOS.

Best to call in technical support for possible service (inwarranty repair) else reseating LCD connection may help.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hi Guys,

I am a member of the sevenforums and currently have a win8 laptop so thought I'd sign up here (seems to be the same people behind both forums).

I'm having a little trouble and would really appreciate some feedback.

My Lenovo ideapad z500 had 2 keys (K and I) that stopped working (they worked on the touchscreen) and then after that the delete, 8, and arrow keys topped working. Not sure why.

Before I get the keyboard replaced I'm wondering if it could be something else? There's no water damage and I haven't dropped it so I'm confused. I was told it has to be water damage but maybe 1 drop from the condensation on a glass of water is all I can think that may have affected it.

Would be great for some input on this issue.

Thanks!

Answer:Laptop Keys Stopped working - Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Win8

I was told it has to be water damage

Not true. In fact, water in the keyboard normally does not cause permanent damage. That is, once the water dries, all works again - most of the time. But that does depend on many variables - type of keyboard membrane, how much water, if just water (no sugars or cream, for example), and how much dust, dirt, oily hair/dander, cigarette smoke, cookie crumbs, etc. are under the keys when the water was spilled. The greater damage generally comes when the water works it way through the keyboard and into the computer's electronics.

I would try a regular PC keyboard first to see what happens. If all the keys work properly with a standard USB keyboard, then you can be pretty certain it is the notebook keyboard at fault, and not something more serious.

Looking for a fix to this screen flickering issue on my Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Touch Screen Notebook. I took it to the Service Center and the technicians there changed the LCD cable that connects the screen with the motherboard. Still, The problem persists. The engineers over there do not seem to have a clue whether this problem is Hardware or Software and I don't wish to unnecessary get my machine disassembled again. This flicker does not happen continuously though. My notebook works fine if i keep it unmoved on the desk. But the moment i try to adjust the lid or move my notebook around, the flickering starts. To stop it, I simply put my machine on sleep mode or close the lid for 5 odd minutes. Upon wake up, The Screen again appears to work fine minus any flicker. Would appreciate any help in this regard. I have also captured a Video of the problem. I am having the same problem.  The screen, it seems to be the touch screen like someone is touching it, Also, magnifies in and out.  If I move the laptop, or the screen that can cause it to start.  Or it just starts by its self, if I leave it on, when I come back it flickering.  I have to close it down and start all over again.I took it to a shop, they tried a few things but couldn't fix it, some suggestions: they thought it might be something to do with the graphics?? Maybe!   If anybody has this problem and sloved it, be really good to hear from you.

A grey/white-ish single and horizontal line appears on my display of Z500 Ideapad (I have a Windows 7). I had a similar problem a few months ago but managed somehow to fix it. However I forgot which drivers exactly I am suppoed to re-install and randomly guessing this time has not brought me any luck.Does anyone have any idea what to do about it?All advice is highly appreciated!

Answer:grey horizontal line on screen of Z500 Ideapad

hi vivvi555,

Welcome to the Forums.

Just to verify, do you only see this grey/white-ish horizontal line inside Windows or does it appear right away after powering up the machine (i.e., in the Lenovo splash screen or Windows loading screen) ?

Things that you can try:
1. Uninstall the Intel and Nvidia drivers from the Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features (reboot if necessary). When the machine boots back up, re-install these drivers in order then reboot.
1st - Intel Video Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Notebook
2nd - Nvidia Video Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)

2. If same problem, try attaching an external monitor and check if that horizontal line is still there.

Let me know how it goes.

I install windows8 in my system the wireless keyboard and mouse working for some days ..but now they does''nt work. I press the Bluetooth button from backside the computer for 2 sec and then try to connect with keyboard and mouse .. pressing the connect button at keyboard and mouse .. it doesn't work.. when I press the keyboard mouse button backside of computer no wizard shows on the screen.. please help me regarding this .....

Answer:lenovo ideapad B320 Wireless Keyboard & mouse not working no wizard shows on the screen

I have a b320 and have never gotten a wizard or any inidication on the screen.  Press button on back, then button on keyboard and mouse.  Mine was rather erratic at firts.  You might also try rebooting if you haven't. If none of that works go to control panel/device manager and find the bluetooth and or keyboard/mouse and right click and ask to update driver and allow the computer to look on the internet for a driver. One of the problems with windows 8 on the B320 is the bluetooth isn't compatible but it loads drivers that work. You will find that the touch screen does not have some of the features it had in 7 and swiping from the side may not work, and the tv may or may not work and there are no new drivers available.

Hello, The other day the backlight of my screen on my Ideapad z585 running Windows 8.1 stopped working and won't display any brightness. I had been using it that night, and I closed the screen to put it in sleep mode. Around 20 minutes later I noticed that the lights on the bar next to the speakers (the touch buttons for volume, mute, onekey theater, etc.) were still on. I opened the laptop back up to the screen being completely blank and unresponsive, even after hitting keys which would normally take it out of sleep mode. After waiting a while I turned the laptop off with the power button. A few moments later I then turned it back on, and was greeted by the Lenovo splash screen. However, it faded to complete black several seconds later. After it presumably booting up, I turned the laptop off again as I still couldn't see anything on the screen. I turned it back on via the onekey recovery button, which allowed me to access the bios which was displaying the brightness normally and didn't fade out until I tried booting into Windows again. The next morning I plugged my laptop into my TV via HDMI, and it displayed my screen perfectly on the TV while the laptop screen was still black. I logged in and tried changing the brightness, but it did nothing. I did notice though that the screen isn't actually completely blank, but just dimmed down to the point where I could just barely see it in direct sunlight. I've tried removing the battery and draining the... Hello everyone! I just got the Lenovo IdeaPad Z500, I7 on Windows 8 OS a couple of weeks back. Everything was working fine until just several hours ago. I had just downloaded a software for a VPN and had reboot my laptop after it had finished installing. I was able to open Google Chrome and was in the process of opening the sites I had previously been browsing when the screen froze. I didn't think much of it since I had experience with the system freezing in the past. That was until my laptop continued in its frozen state and would not respond even if I moved the mouse of the track pad.  It's still in its frozen state up to now. I was even trying to push the One Key Recover button on the left side of the machine but it's still not responding. I'm hesitant to go this route though since I may not  be able to recover my files. So right now I'm basically waiting for the battery to die out and I'll see what happens then. Anyone experienced this? What do I need to do in this situation. I'd hate to lose my files as  I hdn't backed up. Help please!

Answer:IdeaPad Z500 screen/system freezes and remains unresonsive

Hi Mr_Greenfield,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you try holding down the Power Button until it shuts Off.
If the freezing persists try Uninstalling the Software you downloaded and see if it is the one causing the problem.
If not perform a clean boot

Best Regards

Hi guys, I'm about to purchase a new lenovo ideapad  z500 but since I'm going to place an online order I cannot see whether the laptop has a glare or anti glare screen, I tried contacting the seller but he has no idea about this feature.I was wondering if there was a way of knowing whether the laptop has a glare or antiglare screen just by looking at some numbers printed on the cardboard box of the laptop, without having to open the laptop. The laptop model number is LENOVO   Z500-59372854

Hi,My ideapad z500 each time stucks at "lenovo splash screen", but pressing any key will continue to boot and system will run without any issue. This problem is there almost 90% time when I restart or power on my machine. This problem is very annoying because whenever due to windows update machine restarts multiple time i have to sit there to press the key, its very painful. My BIOS version is 1.21, I have also tried resstting the BIOS by entering to BIOS setup, but issue is not resolved. This issue is not new, this was there when I bought this laptop, initially I ignored it because of workaround. . is there any solution to this problem?

Answer:Ideapad z500 (without touch) stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

I enabled startup password in BIOS to troubleshoot the problem, when I rebooted the system on BIOS password prompt appeared with continuous beep and none of the keys were working, I pressed enter and "Invalid password" pop-up came and beep stopped.Does it look like hardware problem?

hi Xavier_Lenovo,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If your Z500 came with a Synaptics Touchpad, can you try to:

1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings
2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.

Let me know your findings.

Hi, A few months ago the brightness stopped working on my Ideapad Z510.  I've tried searching and doing multiple things to fix it including uninstalling the display drivers and downloading older drivers.  I've also tried installing the most recent display drivers, and I've installed Lenovo Power Management, but it still doesn't work.  I'm running Windows 8.1.  My Intel Graphics 4600 in device manager shows an error for my adapter and says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43).  It says this, no matter what version of driver I have installed though.

I just purchased a brand-new in box Pavilion dv5-2045dx, with a backlit keyboard. However, when I press the dedicated button (the one with the image of 3 keys between Print Screen and Delete), nothing happens. I went into the BIOS and reset the Action Key setting (as none of the other function keys were working), but still nothing. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Hi, I have a Lenovo Ideapad N585 with Windows 8 64bit which came pre-installed. I recently upgraded my drivers with AMD catalyst and now my brightness won't work. The current brightness setting is set at maximum, which causes the laptop to run out of energy fairly quick. I cannot lower the brightness. The FN keys nor the slider in Control Panel help lower the brightness. The bar that appears in the top left corner says that brightness is being lowered, but it remains at maximum. Does anyone know how to fix it?  Thanks.

Answer:T430 - Keyboard backlight not working

Hi,

Did it ever work?  According to the tabook (ThinkPad Notebooks)  , the backlit keyboard is optional.  What is your machine type (like 1234-XYZ)?

If your machine has a backlit keyboard, Fn+Spacebar should activate/deactivate.

Answer:keyboard backlight Acer S7-392 not working

Hi there, You may check this video for more information about the computer.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G5eOYp71eU[please check about keybaord review starting 6.00]i have no S7-392 computer but base on forums and videos i've seenkeyboard light is not that easy to notice specially if the room or the place your at is not that or too dark.its like the lighting on some watch.OptionsAt night on your room press and HOLD "Fn key" and keep taping "I" for like 15 times just to make surethis is to make sure that keyboard brightness is on the highest level.Turn off all the lights [make sure the room is dark] and check. If still after this your not able to see any back light or even the Acer logo on the cover lighting upI would suggest to contact Acer for warranty concerns.
