I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks in advance.Refer to the hardware maintenance manual partslist portion to see the allowable replacement of the wifi card. Takenote that you can't just replace the card with the same model number without complying with the indicated fru number. Doing so, will result to a error message at startup. This restriction is popularly called as the whitelist. An alternative to the desired wireless communication between your TV and your unit is to have ChromeCast. You might want to explore this since this is easier compared to the replacement of the wifi card.

I have a labtop on which I run windows 7 and normally connect to the internet wirelessly. However, after having run Iolo system mechanic 7 to try and ensure my computer is in good shape, my Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter is showing a big red cross by it and says "Not connected" so I can't connect wirelessly to the internet. Being an amateur computer user I've tried "diagnose this connection" etc.. but to no avail. Can anyone enlighten me on how to get it working again? thanks, Neil

I have a 2nd pc (netbook) Asus windows 7 32bit. When I pull up Network connections to view the to connections listed- Local Area & Wireless Network - When you click connect, it continuously says identifying. ON BOTH connections when you try connecting with both. I went to device manager and they are both there being still installed as will as the few hidden items such as the MiniPorts(IP, IPv2, & etc.). I need help fixing this issue to actually be able to connect to a network properly without is saying identifying. You cannot troubleshoot the issue as it is not finding a problem with the adapters. Please help.

When I did another troubleshooting just now, it says "Problem with wireless adapter or access point - Detected - With a caution sign. I do not have a way to reinstall a new driver on that pc. Please help. Thanks so much in advance.

Hello folks,

Seriously need a Helping Hand here, I bought a Samsung R540 last yr (Oct) everything worked awesome. I have been using wireless internet since i got it, Recently I bought star wars and been dying to play it. Was going great at first but then started getting connection problems. So my brother bought a new gaming router (Netgear N9000 dual band WNDR4500) renamed it the same SSID as our first router and same PW. Now, I already went over this with Tech support from best buy and they say I need to reinstall my wireless drive. I can not make the drive new born baby and all. I get constant rolling disconnects even when not on the game. It will sometimes stay on Identifying, and then when the SSID does connect it shows it as my SSID (2) why? my SSID does not have an (2) in it nor does it show that for my other family members who are using it. Just me and my labtop is the only one hving problems. I trouble shoot it but it says no problems with it, and then when I tried updating the driver it says it is already updated. I have a virus scanner Kaspersky came with the labtop. Also when I turn off Kaspersky a pop up says that a network is up and will be disconnected if i turn it off. Please Help!

Answer:Promblem with Atheros AR9285 wireless Network Adapter-disconnecting

SSID (2) is quite normal. SSID settings of old router still exist in registry. I had the same but cleaned registry manually. you can leave it the way it is!

Hi,

After doing a clean install (iso image) of windows 10 Pro (build 10240) I am experiencing problems with my WIfi connection. The device manager says that the network adapter is working correctly and I have internet access. The problem however is that randomly, when I click a link, the browser gives me a 'SERVER NOT FOUND' message. If I then click the refresh button in the browser, usually the page loads correctly.

All the settings say that the connection should be performing optimally, but I keep getting this annoying problem. It's almost as if the connection drops very shortly but then connects back again without any reason. In the meantime I am getting the SERVER NOT FOUND message in the browser. Of course when refreshing the page, the connection is probably back. Very strange.

Anyone know what can be done about this ? I don't think that installing a new OS should be such a hassle, but it is.

Thanks in advance,
Lex

I have visited the official site and downloaded an update for my Atheros AR5005G but at the end it took me to a screen showing list of three files with the update showing in a box at the top. There were no prompts or instructions so I just closed the screen. How do I check if the update has actualy taken effect and if not what do I do.
Also when doing the update do I click Run or Save?

Regards Alex.

Answer:Atheros wireless network adapter

Hi

What version number was the updated download from Atheros? should be listed on the download page for the driver, with this version code open up Device Manager and then click Network Adapters and double click the Athros listed one and then click the Drivers tab and the version code of the driver installed is listed, just check its same as the one you installed.

Best is to download the driver by using Save, then open up the downloaded folder (if its a zip file then right click and Extract All) and double click the setup file if found, if no setup file then do let us know what files are listed, let us know what the download location of the driver was, your PC make and model and what Windows version you are using.

I just bought this laptop two days ago and I'm unable to download anything from the Internet faster than 0-2 Mbps when I'm perfectly able to download at speeds of around 40 Mbps on my Lenovo B570 using the same 2.4 ghz band on my router. When it's hard-wired to the router, however, I get about 90 Mbps down which is fine. I've installed the "latest" driver from Lenovo's support page, which appears to be exactly the same driver that it was preloaded with although it gives a new version number in the description and is as recent as this month to no avail. I've also installed the latest BIOS and that didn't help either. I reset my router settings to factory defaults for the hell of it and that didn't help the situation either. I'm not sure what else to do at this point except return the laptop for a refund. Any ideas?

To all having problems with the Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter, Mine is an Acer Aspire 5315 laptop with Windows Vista 32bit.

Skip to the end - go to PC Pitstop.

If you're interested, see my journey:

I've just had 10 hours of trying to sort mine out so I thought I might post to save anyone else in the same predicament the trouble I've had.

My problem was that I was showing as being connected to the network but not to the internet. A LONG phone call to virgin came up with this old network adapter not supporting some of the newer modems so it needed an updated driver which they could not get for me.

The Atheros website was useless still (Jan 2013) as was the Acer website. Microsoft update wouldn't recognise that I needed a newer driver so that didn't help either. I tried some trusted downloading sites such as CNET etc but they only lead to out of date drivers that didn't help.

I saw some earlier posts on this techguy forum semi-connected to this but unfortunately they lead no-where. And all the "free" download managers lead nowhere too.

I didn't want to pay any money so I perservered. I didn't really want to try any download sites that I was unfamiliar with but I was getting desperate. Eventually I managed to download an up to date driver through PC Pitstop. I entered the information about my computer, driver, OS etc and they asked me to enter my email address so that they could send the link. I thought here... Read more

Hello everyone or anyone. I have Vista Home Premium, Nvidia GForce 8500GT, HP Pavilion m7760n, intel dual core 6400, 4 gigs ram. The original video card is an intel chipset 945.
I have recently received an update through windows automatic update

Atheros Communications Inc. - Network - HP 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter

driverid=20153294

but, everytime I install it, the computer freezes. If I reboot by a hard boot, it will not get past the login screen without freezing. The only way to even log on is to boot to safe mode without networking. I have researched the problem, but have come up empty handed.
If anyone has a solution please let me know. Thank You

Answer:Atheros Wireless Network Adapter Update

You do NOT want to accept hardware drivers updates through Windows Update! Download them directly from the hardware manufacturer or the machine manufacturer.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=3339302

I don't see a wireless driver update listed, so I'd stick with the HP supplied one here.

Can anyone give me some advice on what the problem with my wireless might be?

I have an Atheros AR5B95 wireless network adapter installed on my laptop (an Acer Aspire 5733 running Windows 7). The device manager indicates that the network adapter is working fine. However, for the past few months, my wireless reception has consistently been slow and intermittent, even when very near the router. No one else in my household is having this problem with their laptops, and I am having the same problem elsewhere with other routers and signals. So, I am pretty certain the problem lies with my laptop.

The problem started a few months ago, when a technician came to have a look at the power jack in my laptop. It may just be a coincidence, but immediately afterwards, the problem with the wireless capability of my laptop began. So, to make it clear: before the seemingly unrelated work, wireless was fine. Immediately after the work, wireless was terrible.
I can?t understand how what the technician did could have affected the network adapter. It may just be a coincidence however.

Can anyone give me some suggestion on what I could do? Could it be something that the technician did affected the network adapter?

Answer:Have I got a problem with my Atheros wireless network adapter?

One possibility is damage to the antenna wire. The adapter may be working fine, but without a good antenna the reception would be crappy.

Answer:Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter for XP

Incase anyone else is having this problem or in the dire situation that amyky hasn't solved it yet:

I managed to get the drivers for this card for XP via PC Specialist at
http://www.driversbay.com/dl.php?dlid=1567

These worked fine for me but I did have to change control over to Windows first. Follow the instructions on installing first. I completely removed everything and then rebooted and then installed the new drivers. Right click on the icon at the bottom right of your status bar and select 'View Available Networks'. Here you need to follow the instructions to allow windows to manage the card and hey presto!

Of course you do need to ensure that Wireless Lan is enabled.
To do this press the Fn and F2 keys together. If you are using Bluetooth you will need the selection for Bluetooth AND Wireless Lan to be enabled.

Hope this helps a few people.

Hello guys, I have a Acer Aspire 3680-2576. My wireless internet does not work unless I have a USB thing plugged in so that I get wireless internet. In device manage -> Network adapters, theres Atheros AR5006X Wireless Network Adapter and it has a yellow circle with a black exclamation mark in it, and I goto properties it says under " Device status " This device cannot start. (Code 10).
I have done troubleshoot and it says to uninstall and re-install it and I have and it still does not work so trouble shoot has no use to me. The device is enabled but still does not work. My computer is suppose to be Windows Vista Basic but I made it Windows XP Professional just because I like it better than vista.

Can you tell me how to fix the problem so I don't need to plug in anything just turn the switch in the front so it works, please I really want it to work.

Thanks,
Poppy

Hi brummiearab1, welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to report that your card can only connect in the 2.4 GHz band. If you can set your card for the 40MHz bandwidth, the theoretical maximum data rate is 150 Mbps. Otherwise in the 20MHz bandwidth, 65 or 72.22 Mbps is normal. To connect to the 5 GHz band, the card must be rated as A/B/G/N, or AC.

There are 4 cards in your HMM, and all 4 are only rated as 1x1 BGN. There are no cards that have 5 Ghz capability.

Answer:Atheros AR928x Wireless Network Adapter - IP Address

Welcome to Seven Forums.

ipconfig /all output is useful to find out the IP Address.
Click on the Start Menu search box area type cmd, right click on cmd see at the top, and click on Run as Administrator. From the command prompt (black screen), Copy and Paste these ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt . You will find the output in your Local Disk 'C'.

To find out all IPs, Mac Addresses and Host Names in your home network you may install this neat Tool called Advanced IPScanner. I use this all the time at work.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A75 with an Atheros AR5004g wireless network adapter. I am unable to connect to my wireless network. When I use ConfigFree it tells me my Wireless Communication Switch is turned OFF. My switch is turned ON, but the little light next to the switch isn't on like it normally is. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, Windows detects it, device manager says it's working properly. Tried updating drivers, tried rolling back drivers, put in my Toshiba Recovery disc, pressed the Fn F8 shortcut on the keyboard, tried restoring computer to a week ago, turned the switch off and on, turned laptop off and let it sit for 2 days, everything I can think of other than playing frisbee with it. I had this same exact thing happen about 6 months ago and was able to fix it. But, I was just getting my home network set up at that time and was having a few different issues and did a lot of troubleshooting, so I don't know what exactly fixed it last time.

Answer:Atheros AR5004g wireless network adapter won't turn on

Hey not-e-1,

Maybe the adapter or the indicator light is now defective.

If it's the light, try going to device manager, uninstall the adapter.

reset the wireless router back to factory default settings.

reboot the pc.

Don't use configfree but use Windows wireless utility instead.

Uninstall the driver if it's in the Add Remove Programs list, go into System in the control panel, click on Hardware then Device Manager and right click on the Network Adapter and uninstall. Restart the computer, turn off any Anti-Virus/Security Suite software you have running and run the install for the Network Adapter and complete the installation. Ok, I'm going to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. I have everything almost ready except for this. I've run the Windows 7 update assistant to check for compatibility and all that.

Everything's ok, but I'm a bit confused about the wireless. In the list, it says "the vendor provides software to use this device in Windows 7", I've visited the site and even done some searches on Google, but found nothing. (And I don't think it could make sense to download them after the upgrade or something like that 'cause I wouldn't be able to connect to the internet)

Anyone could gimme a hand here?

Hi I have Win 8.1 on my Y5070After I uninstalled HotSpotshield software and restarted, I lost these two drivers:Qualcomm Atheros AR956x wireless network adapterandRealtek PCIe GBE Family Controller I managed to intall driver of 2nd one by unstalling the device and reinstalling the latest version of drive(v10.0.0.298) and it's ok nowBut 1st one has still problemI installed this:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y50-70-noteboo...and restarted...it still has the yellow sign in Device manager, saying:"This device cannot start. (code 10)" I followed this:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104and no result! Please guide me

Answer:Qualcomm Atheros AR956x wireless network adapter problem

hi Ehsan405,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Navigate to Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and uninstall anything that relates to Qualcomm or Atheros Wireless Driver and reboot.

2. After the reboot, you should see Network Controller under Device Manager. Perform a right click on this entry and select Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software and point to one of these folders to update the driver:

D:\Drivers\WLAN
or
C:\drivers\WLAN Driver(Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek)\Atheros\10.0.0.274

If the code 10 error persist, it's likely that some registry entries were corrupted when you uninstalled Hotspotshield. If possible, perform a System Restore to revert the unit back to working condition and follow this guide in uninstalling Hotspot Shield.

I have never come across such a waste notebook and terrible customer assistance. My Yoga 2 has the Atheros Wireless Network Adapter.  The maximum speed it registers regardless of the wireless network that I connect to is 65 mbps.  I sit my other Lenovo Edge and Dell Lattitude (both with Intel wireless cards) right next to the Yoga and the will clock in at twice the speed... or higher with regard to the other Lenovo when connected to my office WiFi.  Is the issue the Qualcomm card its self or do I need to change something in my settings?  I've downloaded the latest driver from the Lenovo Support site and it didn't make a difference.

Hello. I am having a frustrating problem with an old Satellite P15 notebook. I restored the notebook to the default settings using the recovery disk as the system was running extremely poorly. After doing so, the wireless network adapter stopped working. In the device manager "Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter" is marked with a yellow exclamation mark. In the properties menu, under general, the device status the following is listed:

The device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12)

The OS is Windows XP Home. The same problem has been present in SP1, SP2 and SP3. I've also updated the BIOS to V2, but this also did not help.

At work we use a wireless internet connection. At home I have a DSL connection. Oddly enough, when I plugged in the network cable at home, the yellow exclamation mark disappeared and a wireless connection icon showed up in the Network Connections window. I assumed the problem was solved by updating Windows; however when I brought the computer back to the office, the wireless adapter was once again in the state I described.

I've searched the internet for this issue, but was unable to find anything. I would greatly appreciate some help.

all the best,

James

Answer:Satellite P15-8409, Atheros wireless network adapter problem

Which BIOS version is installed on your machine??? And did you recently changed some hardware etc...??

I am not sure what it could be, but in the worst case, the wlan card has some malfunction. You can check this by getting somewhere such a atheros or intel wlan card and install it instead of the installed one.

Maybe the exchange of the cards should resolve that problem?

Answer:Malfunctioning wireless network adapter (Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG)

I have similar experience too, but malfunction only happens when I am trying to connect to my school network which is WPA2-enterprise or WPA-enterprise. My wireless seems to work fine at home with WPA-personal. All other laptops work fine (so it is my laptop). The signal is fine because it register 100% strength. Basically, mine works for a few minutes, then it starts malfunctioning (school network only). During malfunction, it cannot detect any wireless network (even those that aren't WPA-enterprise). When it can detect wireless network again, it may or may not be able to reconnect to the school network.

I have an acer aspire 4530 using windows 7 and from a week ago Im having problems with the Atheros AR5B91 Wireles Network Adapter. It detects my network with an average signal, but when I try to connect, an error message is displayed saying that It was unable to connect. I tried almost everything: reinstalled the adapter, updated to the newest driver from: http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=28&system=5
I can connect to the network via ethernet cable; and also I have another laptop and it gets connected to the same network via wifi without problem. Im starting to think it could be a hardware issue, but it that were true I think the computer wouldnt detect the wireless adapter.
If someone could help me I would aprecciate it.
BTW: forgive my english.

Hi everyone.

This past weekend I went out of town and took my Windows 7 laptop with me -- since I returned home, it has been unable to connect to my wireless network. Other devices in my home connect to the network just fine, and the problem laptop has always been fine until now. My network card is an Atheros AR9285, and I'm attempting to connect to a Medialink router with WPA password protection and AES encryption.

My wireless network icon in the task bar has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in it. It says "No Internet access."

I have tried:

-rebooting the computer
-unplugging and restarting the modem and router
-going to the command prompt and renewing my IP address with the command IPCONFIG/RENEW

None of this works.

Like I said, all other devices in my house connect to the wireless network with no problem. It's just this one laptop. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:Windows 7 laptop with Atheros AR9285 network card can't connect to wireless network

Three things to try ...

If you have McAfee please see the sticky thread at the top of this (Networking) forum.

Disable encryption on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

Revert to a System Restore Point before the weekend.

Sorry to bother you guys again, but after consulting with the Virus / Malware forum I still haven't been able to resolve this problem. A recap:

I have an Asus U56E with the Atheros AR9285 wireless adapter. At random times, my adapter fails. That is to say, I first lose connection to my home router. Then, after a few seconds, I will lose sight of all wireless networks in the area. This happens not only at home, but wherever I go. The only temporary solution I've come up with is to either put my computer on sleep mode and then wake it up, or a full reboot. The connection may be restored, but it will be lost within anywhere between a few seconds to a few hours.

Other symptoms that only sometimes occur:
It becomes impossible to put my laptop to sleep; it gets stuck in an unresponsive state where the screen is turned off so I have to shut down by holding the power (not sure if it's a related issue)
The wireless adapter sometimes disappears completely from "Network Connections," after which there is no way to restore the connection other than a clean rebootSometimes when this happens Windows automatically reinstalls the Atheros drivers on reboot

The wireless connection tray icon becomes impossible to click on (but other tray icons are fine)
Attempted solutions
Updating drivers - I have the latest version from the Atheros website
Power settings - already checked, it won't be turned off to save power
Possible virus / malware - it came clean

Answer:Problems with Atheros AR9285 Adapter

is this a laptop or desktop

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Try reseating the wireless adapter

If the adapter is easily accessible, usually through a cover on the bottom of the laptop.
Remove and reinsert it carefully and firmly to make sure it is not loose.
Then remove and carefully and firmly replace it several times to cure any possible looseness or corrosion.
At the same time check to make sure the antenna leads are securely attached.
Note: This is not taking the machine apart. We do not recommend removing the keyboard when that is necessary to find the wireless.

Hello,

I am trying to install these drivers on an ASUS X53E and been having nothing but problems.

The Atheros AR 9485 corresponds to the correct hardware ID and I am downloading the correct wireless driver from the ASUS website but it will install but there is still an exclamation mark in the device manager and cannot access the wi-fi.

Also with the PCI Simple Comm Controller, I cannot find the correct driver to download.

If anyone can help me, it will be greatly appreciated.

A couple of days ago I posted a BSOD report in the appropriate section (here) and was told it was my WiFi adapter so I uninstalled and reinstalled it.
(The driver was automatically reinstalled by windows update, but I also have a copy of the driver from HP which I installed afterwards.)

(One thing to note is that the date of the driver from before I uninstalled it, is different than the date of the current driver I have installed, even though before uninstalling I tried to update it and windows said everything was up to date. Sadly I don't remember the version number [of the previous driver] but I know it started with a nine.)

Now though, I can no longer connect to any network wirelessly. When I "diagnose the adapter" I get the following message(I underlined the part that seemed important):

My wifi stops working on my "Idea Center 700-25ish" computer when you upgrade the "Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4" network adapter driver to the lastest driver version "12.0.0.312" dated "5/23/17".  This happens on either a direct driver download from the Lenovo support site or doing a windows upgrade to the "Fall Creator's Update" on windows 10.  The only way I found to work around it is to back out of the upgrade.  Since Microsoft is no longer supporting my version of windows 10, I had to reinstall the "Fall Creator's Update" and start using an Ethernet cable to access the internet.  My Wifi is still not working.  Does anyone know how to fix the Wifi problem?

I accidentally deleted from regedit my realtek drivers for my "atheros ar9285 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter" for my laptop. I am on vacation, and cannot access my recovery disks (which I left at home) for another month or so. Short of buying a new set of recovery disks on the Internet, can anyone send me a disk with these drivers on it so I can access the wifi that is available to me? Unless it is possible to download the drivers to a jumpdrive so I can than put them on my laptop. Thanks. My laptop is a compaq presario cq56-115dx.

Answer:atheros ar9285 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter drivers disk

Realtek and Atheros are two completely separate manufacturer's.

Recovery Discs wipe out your system and take you back to the original factory state, pretty sure that's not what you want to use anyway.

The place to get drivers for your HP/Compaq laptop for free is the HP website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4308201#N418
Download the drivers either by plugging the laptop in with an Ethernet cable or use another computer and transfer the driver download with a USB drive.

Many times wireless/wifi available connections list becomes empty. I have tried installing latest drivers from both Lenovo and Intel website against Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 adapter. I suspect windows 10 updates has done something wrong. Sometimes after trying installing drivers again and again fix the issue but appears again after few restarts.

Hi! First of all, I'm sorry if my English is bad. My laptop is running on Windows 8.1 Single Language. I just bought this about a month ago and I'm having this weird problem.

Cases that my network adapter connects to my computer:
1.) After restart
2.) When the network adapter successfully starts and then shut the computer down then start it again

Cases that my network adapter does not connect to my computer:
1.) Turning the computer on after a few hours from the last shutdown

I have done the following things:
1.) Update the driver
2.) Not allowing the computer to turn off the network adapter
3.) Uninstall and reinstall network adapter
4.) Release and renew IPv4 address
5.) Disable Proset services
6.) Disable Bluetooth driver and services
7.) Set WLAN AutoConfig to automatically start

Is this a hardware related problem or a driver problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Thanks!

I have a LENOVO Z51-70 and i recently installed a WINDOWS 10 on it.
I am unable to host hotspot on my laptop ever since. This is because in the device manager list, under network adapters heading i am only getting these two names:
Quallcom Atheros QCA61x4 wireless network adapter and
Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller
However there is no Intel wireless virtual network adapter.
This is happening even after i have installed all the relevant drivers on my laptop for windows 10 from lenovo website
I have installed the intel PRO wireless toolkit and run tests on it.
In the hardware test it failed and says "wireless hardware not bound to transport driver"
PLEASE help me!
The ethernet works fine and i can take hotspots from people. But i cant create my own!!
I am attaching relelvant pics here.
PS: I have updated my drivers from the lenovo website often. and from the intel website as well.

Hi,
I'm using Dell Latitude E7450 (equipped with WiGig Intel Tri Band AC 17265) in Windows 7 and WLD15 Docking station. Currently, I'm doing a research on the performance of WiGig by using those pair of devices. I'd like to measure some 802.11ad performance parameters such as RSSI and physical data rate. However, the only interface to connect/access the docking station is Intel Wireless Dock Manager, which doesn't provide such information.

I've installed Wireless Dock Manager and the connection between the Laptop and the Docking station is successfully established. However, Intel Tri Band Wireless AC 17265 still doesn't appear on Network Adapter option. In the manual (http://www.dell.com/support/manuals/an/en/anbsdt1/dell-wrls-ds-wld15/WLD...), Intel Tri Band AC 17265 adapter should appear in Network Adapter option in Device Manager.

Therefore, I'd like to know if there is another possible way to access the physical layer information (RSSI and physical data rate) for this WiGig connection. I also would like to know about the availability of Intel Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 driver on Linux.

The help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Rizqi

Hi I recently purchased the U41 Series laptop, with i5 (5th Gen) ,4 GB Ram, 1 TB SSHD , 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE. It has an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 adapter. Now, I am facing a lot of issues due to this adapter. Firstly, the connection is very unstable. It drops out anytime, and speed also fluctuates a lot. Secondly, when I am in my room, all other devices, including a 5 year old Lenovo laptop can acccess a Wifi network, but the U41 fails to access and if it does, it frequently disconnects. Read online for a lot of solutions, it is faced by all the users of this adapter, but had no luck. Please look into this matter, and if necessary, call for a replacement of the wireless adapter. It would be good on Lenovo's part if it does so. It is really frustrating to buy a Notebook with such good configs & then facing such issues !!.

Answer:Lenovo U41 WIFI Problem (Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 adapter)

I recently purchased a refurbished T410 as I always have been interested in Thinkpad's for a while and felt it was time to take the plunge. I have been using it without any issues until I installed Lenovo Update and once I installed it I let it do its thing and update all that it needed to one thing being the BIOS. Once everything updated and it restarted itself I was at my desktop and I could not get a wireless signal only to find out that my wireless adapter wasn?t even being recognized. I pulled up device manager and looked into the issue and saw that it has a Code 52. This message followed: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) After doing some research I found out that upon boot you can press F8 and boot into the Windows advanced boot options and select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement." Once I did this the problem was solved but here is the kicker, this is needed to be done every time you power on the T410 from shut down. Has anyone encountered this sort of problem before or can help me and point me in a specific direction to help fix this issue?

Answer:Lenovo Update installed on T410 now have Code 52 on Intel Wireless 6300 AGN adapter

I figured out the problem and long story short what I did was basically go into the device manager find the wireless adapter and then highlighted it.Once it was highlighted I right clicked it and selected uninstall. Then I restarted my thinkpad and upon restart Windows 7 automatically reloaded the drivers to it and then it was back in action and is now in working order.

Hey guys, I've been a X61T(tablet) user for over 2 years now and have never had WiFi connection issues, whatsoever. I upgraded to Windows 7 last year and things only got better.  But, today, after uninstalling a program called "Connectify", that basically transforms your laptop into a WiFi hotspot, my Wireless Radio JUST WON'T SWITCH ON! My Wireless Radio switch(that's in front) is on(I pushed it to the right). Up until yesterday, it was working great. I even used my Wireless Network to create a WiFi hotspot using Coonectify. I also deleted it from Connectify because it wasn't working. And then, I just uninstalled Connectify because I didn't see a point in creating a hotspot, when I have a Wireless Router at home. I rebooted my PC and Viola --- WIRELESS RADIO HAS BEEN DEAD! I don't see the green LED for WiFi on the extreme left blinking anymore. Gone!  Went to Device Manager and I didn't see any problems with the Intel WiFi Link 4695 Device driver. I still uninstalled it and downloaded the most recent one. STILL NOT WORKING! I checked the registries to see if I can find any entries from Connectify that may be causing the problem, but Nada! Nothing there as well! I'm feeling pretty downbeat because I got a new Wireless Router yesterday NETGEAR N-150 and not even 24 hours later, I'm back to using ETHERNET cable! I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out here! Thanks.

When I look at the Network Adapters in the "Device Manager", I only see the following:Atheros AR8162/8166/8168 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20) I have downloaded both the LAN as well as WLAN drivers that have been advocated on these forums. However, I can't seem to get WLAN connectivity on my laptop. What am I missing ? I have also tried the BIOS settings to first disable and then enable the Wireless. But that doesn't seems to work either.  From the "Network and Sharing Center", when I clck on the "Set up a new connection or network", I get an option like "Broadband(PPPoE)". And nothing else. Should I not expect a Wireless option here ? --thanksRitesh

Answer:Can't find a Wireless Network Adapter on my Lenovo G 580

hi riteshgoel,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

There might be three possible problem.

Driver Issue
-If it is a driver problem then you should have a yellow icon in Device Manager saying maybe "Network Controller" or "Unknown Device"

BIOS Wireless LAN is Disabled "Which I think you alreay tried"
  - You can check your BIOS settings, as it has an option to disable the WIFI hardware,
Go to BIOS by tapping F2 or FN+F2 once you power on the system.
Once inside BIOS Go to the "Configuration" tab
Look for "Wireless Lan" and make sure it is enabled.
Then hit F10 on your keyboard to save and exit BIOS.

If those two are not the issue
     - Given that it is not showing any Wireless device or a Yellow icon/Unknown device Under Device Manager " Let me know if there's any".

     - Under BIOS Wireless is Enabled
Then this is most probably a Hardware Problem and should be brought up with Lenovo Technical Support.

I am trying to create an ad-hoc network. Supposedly the driver installs but I can't create an ad-hoc network with Manage wireless>add nor see an option in adapter properties.

I have access to a Vista server if I should install that on it..since trying to create one for the work.

Any help?

Answer:Atheros 5700UG Wireless Adapter

There's a better solution than ad hoc. You can use your wifi to receive your internet and share it at the same time. You can also use your lan connection to share over wireless like a normal ad-hoc network. This solution also comes with WPA2 encryption and shows up as a hotspot, not ad-hoc.

Hello, I have an Atheros AR9258 Network Adapter on a Lenovo Z560 laptop.

I recently noticed that my internet speed was very slow, so I went to Speedtest.net. I found out that I am only getting 1/4 of the speed I pay for. I uninstalled the device and its drivers. I then re-installed them (using a wired connection). My speed went up to about half of what I pay for.

I thought the problem had been solved, but after about 5 minutes my speed was down to 1/4 of what I should get again. I have repeated the Speedtest, uninstall, reinstall, and Speedtest again procedure multiple times to the same conclusion. On my desktop I am getting the correct speed all of the time, so I know it is not my ISP.

Is my Wireless adapter going bad? How can I fix this problem?

Thanks

William

Hi there,

I have an Atheros AR9285 (version 9.2.0.115) Wireless adapter installed in my Ideapad Z570 running on a Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate operating system. I have installed all the respective drivers required for my wireless LAN and Wifi. But nothing seem to work. The driver shows it is upto date and the device is working properly. Yes I have turned on the switch for enabling wireless connections. But all in vain.

There is no signal or detection of available connections when the Wireless is turned on. When I diagnose the problem it says :" Wireless capability is turned off". From  the network connections, by clicking on the ' see full map' it says 'adapter is not connected .' against - wireless network connections.

I even had the related drivers uninstalled and did a clean install. Nothing seem to work, not even on safe mode with networking.

I have also checked on 'services.msc' and set the 'WLAN AutoConfig' to 'Automatic'. Tried with the function keys as well, to activate/enable the wireless. Gone through your forums and nothing is helping me. I have attached below a detailed diagnoses of my great wireless adapter. I hope this helps to find me a solution.

Answer:Wireless network adapter problem in Lenovo G510 8.1 x64

hi luka,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you have upgraded from Win7 to Win8.1, can you try the following:
1. Navigate to Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and remove any apps that relates to Wireless and Bluetooth (reboot if necessary).

2. Reinstall these drivers and reboot:
Bluetooth Driver (Broadcom, Atheros) for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit)
WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit)

After the reboot, open Device Manager and check if you have an entry on the Bluetooth and Network Adapters area.
 - Sample image
 - Sample image

If you still get errors, can you please provide the MTM (eg. 59123456) of the unit to identify the type of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adapter installed or follow this guide on how to identify the hardware ID of the Bluetooth / Wi-Fi card (you can also post those info here).

Hello All I have had my Lenovo Y510P since Jan/Feb of this year. It has worked like a dream, and I have thankfully avoided the problems people have seemed to have with it. Then in August, my HDD broke for an unknown reason. After 6 weeks of discussing with Lenovo, I have received my laptop back with a new HDD. Huzzah! Everything is fine.  Needed to reinstall my programs, I connect to the internet and begin. Five minutes later, I realise that there is something wrong with my internet and that it is not stable. Many hours later (including my messing with my wireless channels, and installing updates for my WLAN) I have decided that there is a hardware issue with my adaptor.  Searching via google then brought me across this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2C1lIFvH9E So my question is whether it is possible that when the Lenovo tech guys were replacing my HDD etc, they could have messed with my wireless card and the wires moved? (This would the explain why my laptop went from having perfect connection to it being so unstable)  Otherwise, anyone have links to the most up to date drivers for the atheros ar9285?  Is my best bet after trying what the video is suggesting to uninstall the drivers on my laptop and reinstall them and then pray?  I really do not wish to send it back to be fixed....

Answer:Lenovo Y510P: Wireless Network Adapter Issues

hi LadyNico,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Looking at page 39-40 of the HMM, removing the HDD doesn't require the wireless card antenna to be removed (although it's possible that it might have detached itself by some means).

After making sure that the wireless antenna is firmly connected and in the correct place (If you have white and black cables, black usually goes to Main, and white goes to Aux), try the following:
  - Link to picture

1. Disable automatic driver installation
    - this will prevent Windows Update from changing the drivers

2. Set the power settings to High Performance and turn off bluetooth
3. Install the updated driver from this page:

hi - am having the issue with my g570(4334) and windows 7 laptop. I removed both atheros drivers(the funny thing is i didnt notice what was those drivers), now struggling to connect to wireless though managed to get LAN driver installed. Tried installing intel wifi link driver and wimax is not helping me and it shows there is no suitable driver version of wireless network adapter compatible, i searched for wireless network adapter suitable for my laptop in lenovo support but no use, cudnt find it there. Now i came across this, should i go ahead and install Atheros AR9285 Wireless network adapter and try again? also let me know which driver should i install to support this adapter? Also let me know if there is a link between Ethernet adapter already installed in my laptop to this adapter(i have AR8151/8158 Family Gigabit/PCI Fast ethernet controller)? It would be of great help if u can assist as am cracking my head past two days to fix this with no proper response from lenovo call center also! Thanks in Advance.

Answer:Lenovo G570 Wireless network adapter issue

Hi naveen2184,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

This AR8151/8158 Family Gigabit/PCI Fast ethernet controller is LAN Device and not wireless.

Try opening device manager and look under Network Adapters if you will see wifi or wireless under it,
ex.

If not Look for any unknown device or Network Controller or any Yellow marked icon

Once you find either wifi , network controller or unknown device
right click on it and select properties

You will have a properties windows with tabs on top
Select the details TAB , select Hardware Id on the property and copy the value

Once you got the hardware Id try posting it here
Lets check what device is that and find the right drivers

Hi, I have a Lenovo g580 and am constantly loosing my network connection - around 10 times an evening. I am running windows 8.1. One other thing I have noticed is that since I upgradd to Windows 8.1, it has got worse. And also I have lost all Bluetooth devices. Before I upgraded my I could bluetooth photos from my Samsung S3 mini. Now, although it shows as there and paired it disappears from the list the mnute I try to transfer. Could it be Windows 8.1 that is causing the problems?? I am not a computer expert but have managed the following: The 5 little bars in the task bar, bottom right, go blank. I right click and select Troubleshoot Problems. Windows does whatever and comes back with a little window showing Windows Network Diagnostics, Issues Found, Problem with Wireless Adapter or access point.  Fixed.  Anything from 10 to 30 minutes later it goes again. I went to Device Manager and selected Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG, right clicked and selected update driver software.    Same problem for some time now.  I've had the G580 for probably a year but did not experience any wireless problems until after upgrading to Windows 8.1.    I've tried all these driver updates ad nauseum, including this one  -  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g580-no...    Of course, that fix did not work either and I find it interesting that there is no real acknowledgement of this problem or a real repair.  Today, I found this fix on Toms Hardware and so far, for hours, it has worked. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2041675/windows-broadcom-limited-connectivity-lenovo.html    Good luck!

I have an HP dv5-1002nr notebook PC from 2008 (piece of junk if you ask me, but that's another issue).

Way back when I first bought this computer, the wireless adapter driver would get corrupted every time the computer would overheat. At the time, I was shown how I could reinstall the Atheros wireless adapter driver from my Recovery Manager.

I have since solved all the overheating issues, but this morning, the Atheros driver disappeared (or was corrupted) again, and I have tried reinstalling it several times, both from the Recovery Manager and from the HP driver web site.

The files will load, and the installation wizard goes through, but then even after I reboot, the driver still doesn't show up in my network device manager settings, and the network wireless adapter still won't turn on.

HELP!!!!!

Hello and welcome thefourwinds , starting to sound like maybe a hardware issue here, are you still able to connect with it wired ? I am thinking hard ware issue based on the fact that you say the driver will not load up . However, have you tried uninstalling that driver and then reloading fresh one ?

Ok first off I have tried just about everything I can think of to fix this problem. This post is a last ditch effort to fix the problem. The laptop is an HP. The network adapter is having the common problem of being unable to connect to secured wireless networks. I know this is a common problem and I HAVE tried everysingle suggestion posted on this forum, including but not limited to: reinstalling drivers, making sure the adapter is configured for the appropriate gateway and even doing a full restore to factory defaults. NOTHING has worked. Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated. Also I have tried many things that I cannot remember butif you suggest them I will know if I have already tried them. Feel free to make suggestions. Obviously this is beyond my capabilities and am open to ANY suggestion. Thanks in advance.

I have had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Version 4 Wireless router for quite some time.  It works like a champ and I have one Laptop wired to it and a second using Wireless working just fine.  Recently, I received a new ThinkPad W500 Laptop with an Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN wireless network adapter.  The older laptop (ThinkPad T60p) that works just fine with the router uses a11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter by Atheros.  However, the NEW laptop (the W500) with the Intel Adapter fails to connect to the Router.  It will either indicate a failure while "Waiting for Association" or it will indicate a failure when waiting to "renew IP Address".  Sometimes, it will show a signal strength close to ZERO (Even as the older laptop with the other adapter is showing a signal strength close to 100%) When I called Linksys support, I was told that the facts that the Router (a) works find with the wired Laptop and (b) works fine with the 11a/b/g NEtwork Adapter and (c) works fine when WIRED to the new laptop all indicate that the problem is NOT with the router at all -- but with the Network Adapter.  Can anyone tell me what has to be adjusted in the Adapter settings?  Right now, I am using IBM Access Connections for BOTH of the wireless laptops.  I have made sure to set IDENTICAL values for SSID and WEP (128-bit) [static] password.  I have also ensured that all OTHER settings are the same for the two laptops.  Yet, in... Hello, I have a problem with my internet (still). I tried asking you here for help earlier but I didn't get any help so I'm trying again.

I bought a new Laptop with Windows 7, it's an Acer Aspire 7741G, but ever since I started it up the internet has not been working correctly. I only get 1-2 signalbars out of 5-6, no matter how close to the router I am, and those 2 bars is only enough to get my internet on this computer up in like 50kb/s when downloading.

Where I live we have several computers, macs, PS3s, and they have never had any problems connecting to our internet, apart from this one.

I've tried most things on my computer to get it to work, but nothing has done the trick yet.

When I troubleshoot the connection it says "problem with the adapter or access point - fixed" almost everytime, and after doing the troubleshoot the internet goes to max speed (5-6 bars) for about 10 seconds before dropping down low again.

I have tried to uninstalled my antivirus/firewall, I have changed the powersettings, I have tried mostly everything that I have found on forums all around, but nothing has worked yet.

Would appreciate some help

Hello,

I've been having intermittent disconnection issues with my wireless card, DWA-552. After having thoroughly researched on the subject, the conclusion drawn by many people is that dlink's drivers are inappropriate for the card. It was suggested to install the Atheros driver instead, which i proceeded to do. Much to my confusion, when i downloaded the AR5008 10.0.0.75 driver, i found no .exe file to easily setup the driver.

http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=26&system=6

I proceeded to do the following:

1) Uninstall my crappy DLink driver through control panel
2) Went on Device Manager and scanned for hardware changes
3) Network Controller appears
4) I right click on network controller and try to manually update the driver
5) This window appears: http://imgur.com/GkTza

I'm stuck there. Help! I've tried following some guides about the issue but nothing works so far and it's a pretty daunting task since i need to reinstall my dlink driver everytime i want to reconnect to the internet for more information.

Thank you

i have an acer laptop and recently updated my computer with th latest intel pro/wireless software. and this is what happened.

When I right click on the Wireless icon -everything is greyed out except for
OPEN INTEL PROset WIRELESS and OPEN INTEL WIRELESS TROUBLESHOOTER.
- When I click the Troubleshooter the message is CURRENTLY THERE ARE NO
ISSUES REPORTED.
-When I click on OPEN Intel proset Wireless the pop says Intel
PROset/Wireless was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Pls.
install a supported wireless adapter.

* If I go to drivers and look at Network Adapters - it shows Intel
PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection in green but if I right click it, I
see a pop-up that says ADAPTER STATE NOT FOUND IN REGISTRY. If I click OK
button on the pop up, it shows a window with 5 tabs( General,
Advanced,Driver, Details, Resources) - In the general category its says"
This device is working properly" and the Device usage shows Device enabled.

i uninstalled both the drivers and the sofware and reverted to the old one but to no success.
after doin a lot of research i have to come to know a piece of program that tells me that i have 3 wireless adapters. probably the duplicates? but how do i remove them and make my wireless right

Hello,

I have a laptop dell xps M1210 with Intel(R) PROSet 3495 ABG. It has been working well for several years.

Yesterday morning I got an error: "Problem applying profile", then it couldn't been connected.

I did a lot of things.
1) Update the driver from 10.5 to version 12.1
2) Make sure "Wireless Zero Configuration" service started.
3) Uninstall the wireless adapter and reinstall it.
4) reboot the machine.
....

It is not working today. The error becomes "Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter.".
By checking the device manager for connectivity, everything looks good.

One thing I must mention is sometimes I got an error that is "Microsoft Help and Support Center has encountered a problem and needs to close...."

The detail is Error signature
AppName:helpctr.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.5512 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset: 0000100b.

I am frustered but I don't want to reinstall windows system.
My OS is win xp pro sp3.

Thanks for your reading and help.

Hello!

I will start this off by freely admitting I'm not great with computers and usually don't know what I'm talking about.

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop.
I recently wiped it clean and installed Windows XP, and have not been able to connect to wireless internet ever since.
I used the Acer website to download the drivers, extracted all the files, etc.

When I open Intel PROSet/Wireless, I get an error message that it is "unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

Also, Intel PROSet/Wireless does not appear on my Device Manager. (The only things that are listed under "Network adapters" is 1394 Net Adapter and Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet.) I feel like that's probably part of the problem, even if I'm not sure why, haha.

What can I do to get my wireless access back?

Thank you.

Have a MSI A6200 laptop here, and it came with Windows 7 home premium x32. I formatted it with a clean .iso of Windows 7 home premium x64 (which I've done before successfully on a similar MSI laptop) and now my wireless speeds are terrible. I connect at 11mbps but web browsing is incredibly slow and I download at a whopping rate of 20 kb/s max. I've tried using the native driver that Windows 7 installs, the one available through Windows Update, and also one I found on the net: neither makes a difference.

Before I formatted it was working just fine. I'm currently downloading a x32 bit copy, thinking it's a driver issue, but is there any other troubleshooting steps I can take? It doesn't seem to be a network problem as all the other laptops in the house are unaffected.

edit: I can't even find my laptop on MSI's website

Hi. Recently I was watching a movie on my laptop, but I hadnt noticed that my battery was low, ao it turned off. I put the charger on and then I noticed that I cannot find any wireless networks (and normally, there are at least 10 networks in my range). I searched in the forums for help and I noticed that many peaple have problems with these adapters, but I couldnt handle on my own. So if you guys would be kind enough to explain a newbie what exactly to do, I would be very grateful.

Answer:i cannot find any wireless networks (atheros ar9285)

Uninstall and reinstall the wifi driver :
Left click the Start button
Click Control Panel
Click System control panel
Click the Hardware tab
Click the button labeled Device Manager
Select the device you wish to uninstall in the Device Manager window
From the toolbar, click the uninstall button (looks like a computer with a red X over it)
You can also uninstall by right clicking on the device and selecting Uninstall from the context menu. A dialog box will open asking you if you really wish to uninstall the driver. Click YES, then OK in the next window, then OK in the System Properties Window.

Now reinstall the driver from CD.

Dear all,

I thought I have met this problem before before my two wireless adapters both stopped working.

PCI-E INTEL 5300
TP-LINK WN821N

My case is a little different from those I found on this forum.

1. When I upgraded my thinkpad x200 to win7 64bit, I don't have "Wireless Network Connection", but I fixed it by stopping one setting of Kaspersky and it came back, so when I first found my PCI-E wireless didn't work, I thought the same thing happened, although I didn't remember the details, I tried the Kaspersky, don't work.

2. I updated the drivers, uninstall-install, start-stop-start WLAN AutoConfig... I have done a lot that can be searched on line, never worked for me.

3. Tragedy happened, I adjusted several common options on BIOS, then after several tries I made to make 5300 work, USB wireless died Don't know how to recover it, and back to my laptop again.

Could anyone here help me out? Really appreciate it! I have spent two days on this stuff, if no one can do this, I guess the only way is to reinstall the OS, that's the least thing I want to do.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mic

PS: Unavailable wireless adapters have all zero Mac addresses, also can't be found in control panel.

Answer:PCI-E intel 5300 wireless doesn't work. Then the USB wireless adapter

Problem solved. Thanks anyway.

When attempting to enable this device I get "Attempting to Authenticate" message but no connection although it sees the available network. Have tried resetting cable modem, router, and restart of computer. Attempts to diagnose and repair by the computer fail and I receive a message that the problem cannot be fixed by the computers resources.

Any suggestions for next steps?

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Have you tried changing the wireless security to Open just to test it out if you're able to connect, then try WEP, WPA or WPA2? It's best if you can use WPA2.....

Have you also tried connecting your laptop to another wireless networks - Public or Hotspots?

Also, from your computer can you please post a Xirrus snip. Download, install and run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector.
To run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, double click the Xirrus icon on your Desktop, you may use the Windows 7 snipping tool to crop or Paint by tapping the Print screen key on your keyboard, open up Paint (Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint) then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then save it and please attach the file on your next post.

Can you also post ipconfig/all output for review?
