Y50 - Old Lenovo costumized Intel Graphics driver vs New generic Intel Graphics driver for a Lenovo ...

Question: Y50 - Old Lenovo costumized Intel Graphics driver vs New generic Intel Graphics driver for a Lenovo ...

Which is the best option?

I know that at least the new driver for Intel HD Graphics 4600 has a newer version of Open GL; does it matter enough to leave the costumized driver?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Funny thing is, when I try to install the driver from lenovo site, it says that the system didn't meet requirements to use this driver. So I am using the one from Intel site.

I have IdeaPad Z480 with Windows 7 installed. I had installed all latest drivers from lenovo site. Then I updated Intel Graphics HD driver to latest version: v15.28.12.64.2932 (9.17.10.2932) from Intel site and then I got problems: the brightness always revert to last brightness level (before updating Intel Graphics driver) when booting. Also, the brightness slider in Control Panel -> Power Options doesn't work anymore. Reinstall Energy Management driver doesn't solve the problem. I suspect there is incompatibility issue in Lenovo Energy Management driver with the new Intel Graphics HD driver.

There have been numerous updates to the 915 driver from the Intel site but no update from the toshiba site.
Can I use the Intel drivers file to update my A3?

Answer:Tecra A3: Can I install Intel graphics driver from Intel website?

Hi,

the drivers from Intel are not for notebooks.
So they normally don't work or in the worst case can damage the chip.

But you can try it on your own risk.
You can also look at newer notebook models which use the same (updated) driver. Sometimes this works.

Or search the internet if somebody provides a modified driver for notebooks.

I am trying to run Dishonored game of the year edition on my laptop y510p, single gt 755m. But it's not running and giving a .cpp fatal error. But please note, when I right click on the exe and try running the game using the Intel HD graphics card, it runs just fine, and performs quite well to be honest.  This leads to me believe that there are no issues with the installation, and there is some issue that the game has for this particular notebook with dual graphics card. The game is running fine for people on Windows 8 on this laptop itself, as is evident from the youtube video below.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBJ8EB6z4TQ Please note I had upgraded to windows 8.1   Is there any possible way I can get it to run using the nvidia graphics card? On disabling the Intel graphics card from the device manager, the game starts up fine, just simply "lags" like its a ppt presentation, meaning it give terrible terrible performance. Can anyone please advise me on this?

Hello, I had the unfortunate experience that my new L540 with factory installed Windows 7 64 bit professional dropped wireless connections after several minutes. This could only be correct be restarting the wireless driver. It took me about 5 hours to discover that the driver contains a known bug. I was almost at the point of returning the laptop as being defect until I found through google: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS036007 hidden on this page is the text  that the driver version there fixes the dropping of connection. None of the update software on the laptop suggested updating this driver and the above page is not so easy to find, or recognize that this is needed at first glance. After applying the above update the WLAN now works without problems. Googling reveals that I do not seem to be the only person with this problem, and the ones I found did not manage to find the solution to their problems. Rene.

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

I have a Satellite 1100 with the Intel 82830M Graphics Card. The latest driver is version 14.7 which I have just installed - the Graphics icon in the bottom right corner changes from a multi-coloured square to a blue screen when you install this, and the mouseover text says "Intel(R) Extreme Graphics".

However, since installing this, my display freezes every time I start a game, or if I go into Display Properties & change anything. A hard reboot is then required. Also, the startup process takes 2-3 times as long since this upgrade.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ? Does anyone know of a solution ? I have seen a few posts on other forums about this, including some saying that this issue was caused by XP Service Pack 2. Can anyone confirm this ?

Hi

I assume you have installed the graphic card driver from the Intel website and you use NOT a Toshiba graphic driver which was designed especially for the notebook usage.
Well, Toshiba recommend using the Toshiba drivers. In this case you should try to use the recommended graphic driver which you can download from the Toshiba driver page.

Answer:Driver for Intel 6300 Ultimate-N: Intel or Lenovo

Hello,
Back in the XP-era I occasionally had problems with using the Intel-provided drivers instead of Lenovo's, but that problem disappeared in the Vista-era.  I'm using the Intel-provided drivers on my W530 and no issues noted.
The PROset/Wireless tools allow sysadmins to manage a computer's wireless network card remotely.  If you're not doing that, I would suggest staying with the smaller "driver-only" downloads.

Hi elu, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

Just checkin something: Lenovo driver installs often require two steps 1. Extract 2. Install. When you double click on the download the drivers are extracted, usually to a directory under C:\DRIVERS. You then go to that directory and run the installer, usually setup.exe. The directory and install method can vary - check the installation instructions. Are you doing both steps?

I am not sure if this is where it belongs, or if it is a Graphics Card issue. I have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop "claims" to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely, causing me to do a hard shut down. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hi,

I have a HP 6730b notebook with Intel GMA 4500MHD. (Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB RAM)

I'm looking for the proper graphics driver.
I need a HP-customized driver as I have problems with the generic one on Intel's website.
Previously, I had a HP-customized driver which worked fine, I'm looking for that.

I tried THIS driver (from HP's website) but it doesn't support my resolution so it's probably for different hardware.
I remember the old driver I had (before reinstalling) supported my resolution and worked flawlessly.

What driver should I download for this computer?
UPDATE:
I managed to solve this problem. The other driver called "Intel Video Driver and Control Panel" on HP's website works fine.

Answer:Intel Graphics Driver

So i tried to update graphic driver with Intel(R) Driver Update Utility 2.0 but the upgrade failed and now my screen resolution is lower an i can't play any games.. Tried to install a bunch of other drivers, of course it was pointless, even tried driver solution pack but nothing seems to work.. Meybe someone can help with this..

Any help would be aprreciate, couse i don't have any idea how to fix this.
P.S. sorry for bad language skills

Answer:Intel HD Graphics driver

You Can Roll Back the driver to the old driver, if the new driver was installed. Go to the Device Manager, Click the Properties for the Intel HD Graphics then Click the Driver Tab.

Another possibility is to use the System Restore function and restore the PC to an available restore date that is BEFORE you did (or attempted) the driver upgrade.

So I'm trying to update my intel graphics driver but when I try to install the newest driver I get the error:
Error: The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer. Setup will exit.
However, the driver I downloaded was from the dell website after I put in my service tag so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to update my graphics driver.
Does anyone know how I can update my intel graphics? Any help is appreciated.
P.S. I can offer pc specs if needed

Hi All
A new Intel driver for GMA 500 graphics has been released for the Sony Vaio P with noticeable improvements in video viewing, Aero performance (enables 3D acceleration) and web browsing. I have been advised that it Works only under Vista and Windows 7, no XP.
Apparently you have to install under Windows 7, use compatibility mode and select Vista as OS.
Can someone please guide me on how to install using compatibility mode ?
Many thanks

Hello,I am using a T530 with WIndows 7 64-bit operating system. The NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver also installs a driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000. For the actual version 9.18.13.1269 of NVIDIA this is the version 8.15.10.2725 of the Intel graphics driver. The Driver Matrix at Lenovo's homepage offers a newer driver with the version number 9.18.10.3359. If I try to install this driver, I receive the response "the driver does not match to my system". Windows Update offers the same driver and the installation is a working. Can anyone explain how I can to install the Lenovo driver? Michele

Answer:Intel HD graphics driver

I have this exact same problem. I would like to use this newer driver, as it fixes and imporves many things. The process seems to be going fine, but then it stops halfway through and says "This system does not meet the minimum requirements [...]" Any help?

Hello I have a windows display driver problem.
i have a Factory Dell Dimension 3000 Computer
it has a 865g graphics chip accelerated chip vga bios

i have searched everywhere and there are no drivers for 7 or vista
i have read that if i use recommended settings that it would work
i tried and it did not

any suggestions
its almost unbearable to look at this.

Answer:Intel graphics driver

That's an old graphics chip. Intel isn't even developing Win 7 video drivers for newer boards using 965G.

You may be forced to buy an add-on video card.

i am running intel i3 1st gen m330 2.13 GHz processor with in-built intel HD graphics (core i3). before upgrading to windows 10 whenever I used to play any pc games the display scaled to full screen but after upgrading to windows 10 play the games I want to play at low resolutions, black borders on the sides appear making the display weird. I tried to change the resolution from the display scaling in the control panel and then change the resolution from the intel graphics control panel. but nothing works. thought I would wait for the latest major update for windows 10 but even after that, nothing seemed to have changed for me. are there any other solutions? please help

Answer:intel hd graphics driver

At a guess, the Microsoft Basic display drivers are what is installed for your laptop.

Intel has not released Windows 10 drivers for that CPU. You could try some Win 7 drivers:

Download Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, Windows 7* 64, Windows Vista* 64 (exe)

They may work. Or, it may be possible to get them in using work-arounds (install in compatibility mode, manually force a driver update).

It's regrettable that Intel is not supporting hardware that is less than 6 years old, but they are under no legal obligation to do so.

Ok, I have an update for Intel Graphics Driver, this is the 3rd day that the install failed. I had a GeForce GT730 graphics card installed when I purchased this desktop. Do I even need this update since I use the Nvidia card? Either way I need to know why this update won't install. I just uninstalled HP Support Assistant and reinstalled it because it wouldn't open and re-installed it and one of the 1st 3 updates I tried to install the graphics driver won't update.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Hey guys, so I was trying to get some games running on my big screen with my lenovo y50 laptop which I should have set to always use the 860m dedicated card. But when I'm running a second display it defaults to using the Intel 4600 chip, obviously not great for running games. I've tried looking every where in the Nvidia control panel and Intels control panel but can't find anything to fix this issue. That HDMI port is the only display port on the laptop as well. Thank you guys for your help.

Answer:Lenovo Y50 only using Intel graphics when connected to TV with HDMI out

1) Are you getting poor performance when running games on the TV?
2) Is your laptop connected to power supply when playing games?
3) You should go to Control Panel >> Display
and select "Change Display Settings" and select  Show Desktop Only on the "TV"

try step 2 and 3, if that fixes your problem.

Since then I have been able to install windows 7 and everything gets installed except for Intel HD 4000 driver and NVIDIA Driver which depends on Intel HD driver being installed. Whenever I install Intel HD 4000 driver, after restarting my laptop the screen either goes blank(with only mouse pointer being visible) and I have to go to safe mode and uninstall Intel HD Graphics.  I tried both the driver on lenovo site and intel site, the latest driver on Intel site gave me BSOD and the other drivers resulted in the same blank screen. I also tried Ubuntu, Knoppix both of them were unable to recognize my display adapter, I  tried Windows 8 which gave me BSOD. My BIOS is updated to the 40ww version. These are GPU-Z screenshots :

We purchased this desktop back in 2014 and it worked fine until this year. For some reason the display starts to flicker and when it does it enlarges the display along with two alarm tones. Then after a few minutes the alarm will sound again now it will minimize the screen back to what it was before. The problems is now it's doing this every 5 minutes back and forth and sometimes it even grays out the display and you never know when it will go back to normal display. But when I'm in Safemod this doesn't happen so I have no clue which app is causing the Graphic card to go  side ways? The Intel HD Graphics 2500 is the most updated version  10.1810.4653 and I checked using the Intel Driver and Support Assistant Installer to check this Graphic and it is the most updated version and there is no new version to upgrade to. But what is causing this problem on my computer ? Does anybody have any idea? Also there is an alternate optional Intel VGA Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) download listed on the website not sure how that would be helpful for my problem. It says it's an optional download and not a mandatory download. But if anyone knows if that will help with the flickering issue I wouldn't mind giving it a try just don't want it to create more problems downloading stuff I have no clue about. Any hlep would be appreciated.

Hi team, after concluding that my motherboard and processor were damaged,  I replaced them with a Intel motherboard and Pentium D 3.0 processor.I didn't do a clean install to my Windows 8.1 but the PC is running okay for now. But, the display is not detected to the native resolution. My monitor supports to 1080p but at the moment it detects a lower resolution. I cannot find the intel Graphics driver for this..Help?

Answer:Intel Graphics driver for Pentium D 3.0

What motherboard are you using exactly? The integrated chipset could be the 8 or 9 series depending on the age of board with the Pentium D. Chipsets like the Intel 865 and Intel 915 come to mind from years past which had socket 775's.Knowing the exact motherboard we can assist better. BTW one problem you could run into is that the chipset drivers may only go to Vista due to the age of the boards. If this is the case then getting a GeForce video card or AMD video card that has support for Windows 8 drivers may be required.I had an old Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz motherboard from 2002 with the Intel 845 chipset in it and the drivers ended at XP. I installed Windows 7 32-bit to this system to see how well it would work. In order to get the graphics to 1024x768 vs maximum of 640x480, I had to force Windows 7 32-bit to take the Windows XP chipset driver for the display. Windows 8 or 8.1 I dont believe would take a XP or Vista driver unless they are maybe 64-bit drivers. If you are without drivers the best bet is to get a cheap video card for this system that supports Windows 8 or 8.1 and use that. Hopefully the motherboard has PCI Express 16x slot available or AGP at minimum to support a better GPU that is compatible with 8.

Answer:Intel HD Graphics Driver Problem.

Hi, You can get around the restriction imposed by the oem graphics package by manually installing the Intel Graphics driver as follows. First, download the latest Intel HD4600 driver for your notebook from the link below and save it to your Downloads folder - you need the first option ( ie win64_154025.4463.zip ).  Note:  If you wish to install a different driver version from Intel, the method is still the same. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26079/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?... When done, download and install the .64bit version of 7-Zip on the link below. http://www.7-zip.org/ When you've installed 7-Zip, open your Downloads folder, right click on the win64_154025.4463.zip package, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok. Cut this newly extracted folder and paste it on your Desktop so it's easy to find. When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right click the Intel 4600 device and select 'Update Driver Software'. In the following window, select 'Browser my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. In the next window, click the 'Have Disk' button and then browse to the extracted Intel win64_154025.4463 folder you pasted on your Desktop. Browse into the sub-folder Graphics, left click on t... The newest graphics drivers for the Thinkpad P50 contain Intel driver version 21.20.16.4550 (the latest available from the Support site). This version of the driver (as well as older versions) has a bug which causes Google Chrome to jitter when in full screen and moving the mouse around the page. (See http://crbug.com/672448 .) Intel has released a version of the drivers (21.20.16.4590) which is reported to fix this problem. I tried to install the updated driver from Intel, but the installer tells me that I can't because I need a driver version customized by Lenovo instead. Is there some way around that to install the new Intel driver? Will it hurt in any way to do that? Is there some way to get Lenovo to release a new set of drivers with the updates from Intel? Thanks!

I went to the Intel site to find an up-to-date one but I can only find the 810 chipset and 82810 driver, not the 810E or the 82810E driver. What should I do? The current driver I have installed is 6.13.1.2872.According the the Intel website the last version driver they made was the 6.7 and that was for the 82810 driver. But is this any good for my computer? Please advise me on this I'm really green about such things. Thanks, cowgirl66

Windows Update has downloaded an item "Intel Corporation Driver Update for Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600" Published 28 July 2016.  It is listed as an important update,  but it will not install, after around 8 attempts. Windows Update gives the message "Code 80070103 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."  and there is no support info. I am using an HP L1950g monitor (1280 x 1024 pixels), connected through the VGA cable. Do I need this update? If Yes, how can I get it to install? If No,  how can I delete it from my system? Thank you !

I have a 3 year old HP Pavilion, running Win XP.  258 megs RAM, as far as I know all the service packs are current and I do run Ad-aware and Spybot, well I try to remember to do it weekly but it probably is more like every other week.  I have McAfee though my free AOL broadband account.  Last week when I booted up the comp, it started acting funny, kept restarting itself at different points in the startup sequence.  Finally I somehow got it booted in full and it told me it had "recovered from a serious error" and microsoft told me it was my RAM and recommended I run a program "Windows Memory Diagnostic".  I planned on doing it later, but then started having another problem.   A day or two later I booted up as usual and after a few minutes, the graphics driver (Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV) stopped working, and gave me an error message to restart and that it would tell me what to do upon the restart.  When I restarted it, it told me that the problem was the graphics driver needed to be updated/reinstalled, so I went to the Intel website and downloaded the correct driver and installed it.  This fixed the problem.....for a few days.  Yesterday it was doing the same thing-restarting itself over and over when I tried turning it on, and I could only get it open in safe mode and had it revert back to a checkpoint for Saturday, which was what worked last week, if I recall correctly.  The graphics driver has gone d... So I went to update my graphics driver but Intel's updater said this computer uses a custom driver meaning I'd have to get it from this website. I did but it said that the driver was not validated for this computer, which is impossible because it was custom made for this computer's hardware. So I manually installed it and now it keeps giving me problems like seemingly randomly crashing with "display driver stopped responding" type errors when I play games, often either rendering them unplayable or crashing them, seemingly depending on the game. Some of them have no problem with this I think but after the latest update to Phantasy Star Online 2 for example, it keeps crashing with this error after a couple of minutes or so. Exactly what driver am I even supposed to be using?!

Now when I was installing my graphics driver, (Intel 82845G/GL/PE/GV) as it was compatible with Windows 8 and, when I started installing it said "Windows cannot install this driver because this does'nt support this version of windows". I downloaded many driver but nothing was compatible.

I really have to laugh. In checking on software updates for my AIO 700-27ISH this morning, the Lenovo support page alerted me to the fact that a new Intel graphics driver (.4300 version) was available for download and installation.  As it happens, I have just installed today a new graphics driver from Intel (.4664 version) that is at least 3 cycles ahead of the version available on the Lenovo support site.  So much for Lenovo keeping up and the need to "verify" that the Intel drivers will work with Lenovo boxes. My advice: check the Intel site using their Driver Download Utility and then manually download and install the new Intel drivers. Good luck.

I recently installed a new game and every time I play it, a couple minutes in I get an blue error screen and my computer restarts.  It says that the problem is with ialmdev.dll.  I found a page on the support site that had the updates to fix this (link below) but I have a T60, which is not listed.  Can I fix this with a simple update?  And if so, which should I use? Thank you!  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-50885 Moderator note: Type+subject added to subject line for clarity. Can I uninstall Intel HD Graphics Driver? I have an NVIDIA card. It is optimus though but I wouldn't mind if it always ran off it. I'm not sure how it works so I decided to be safe and ask.

Answer:Intel HD Graphics Driver [Question]

I'm guessing your computer came with Intel HD integrated graphics and that you upgraded a NVIDIA graphics card.

It's not going to hurt anything to leave the Intel driver installed.

If you uninstall it, you may receive a prompt to install the driver for it the next time you start/restart the computer.

I have been trying to connect an external monitor to laptop through HDMI.  There is a thread out there that discusses the problems of connecting through HDMI but I am having a different set of problems perhaps. First off, with every restart, the laptop can decide to shut down and not even display Intel HD graphics adapter.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason.  Sometimes the Intel adapter shows up right next to NVIDIA, sometimes it is only NVIDIA.  When it is only NVIDIA, the external monitor through HDMI is not recognized. When the laptop doesn't recognize the intel hd graphics, I have found a tedious workaround for now.  I go to bios, switching the display type (discrete to hybrid or back, basically changing whatever the prior type was), once again allows the laptop to recognize the intel hd adapter as well as the external monitor upon next restart. What is exactly going on?  And what can I do to avoid this issue? The only pattern I have found out is that my wifi also keeps dropping inspite of updating to latest wifi drivers, and no it is not connected to my router since wifi drops at other places too.  When I have to force restart my laptop after such occurence, the external monitor support is lost.  I then have to restart after changing the graphics type in bios.  For some reason, it shakes up the computer and then it remembers to support the external monitor the next time alon... One of my programs has been crashing recently and, after contacting the support team of the program, it seems like the issue is caused by my Intel graphics driver being out of date. Since HP does not update the driver automatically, support suggested downloading the most recent driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25978/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36- . However, the installer wizard throws the notification that this driver is not installed for my machine. Is it safe to install the driver anyway, through the steps listed at the page mentioned above? If not, is there another procedure to update my driver to the latest version?

Answer:Update Intel Graphics driver

Does your notebook not have the NVIDIA GeForce 840M video solution installed?  Have you tried using that as the default graphics solution for the program that is crashing? I suggest downloading and installing the Intel driver from the following web page at Intel. Use the second driver from the top.http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/graphics-for-4th-generation-intel-pr...

Hey guys, I'm running the x64 developer preview on an Acer Aspire 5740 running an older Intel GMA HD, and the current driver for it is Intel? Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7* 64, Windows Vista* 64 (zip)v15.22.54.64.2622Download Link: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=3231&lang=eng
My current Driver is WDDM 1.1. I've tried following the procedure here http://www.eightforums.com/hardware-...00-3000-a.html, but after running the setup executable, the only thing that is installed is the uninstall files, then nothing happens, and when I restart, there's no intel updates when i check updates. I'm guessing it's just the difference in the two drivers that doesn't let it work with this one, so has anybody figured out how to get that particular driver working in Windows 8 or have any idea how to?
