I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just received a Z500 Touch with Windows 8 yesterday, and I decided that today I'd like to play some first-person games. I found that my mouse would not move while I was walking on the game (i.e. using WASD/Arrow Keys/Space) and so I could not move in the desired direction or look at a certain thing without releasing all keys and using the Touch pad.  Obviously, this isn't great when in active parts of the game - you can't stay still while aiming without cover! I looked online to see if there were any fixes, I found a few, but they were for Dell laptops or not for Elan. I tried going into regedit from cmd and trying to change the "DisableWhenType_Enable" value to "0", and the same with "DisableWhenType_AllAreas", but to no avail. Is there a fix for this, or is it just me being blindly stupid and missing a massive answer? Thanks,Darthnoodles

Hi there,

I am having issues with the ELAN driver on my Satellite S50-B-12Q. One of a sudden it started to work weirdly, it can't be used. It moves fast and not responsive to your finger's actions. The only solution I've come up with is to roll back to a previous driver, the windows one, but of course I've lost all the extra movements (scrolling, moving right, left and so on).

I have tried different versions of the ELAN driver but had no different results.

Could please anyone help me out with this?

Thanks

Got a nasty surprise today - unlike the other major manufacturers, who offer one year free tech support, Lenovo does not. $179 for a contract or $89 to cover a single incident. Thanks, guys. :-/ Here's my problem. G780, bought last October. Upgraded from Win7 Home Premium to Win8 Pro.A few days ago, the built-in keyboard stopped working. It works in the BIOS, but when you boot into Windows, Windows doesn't recognize it. There is a PS/2 keyboard driver and a HID Keyboard Device that show up in the Win8 Device Manager. I'm assuming those are the drivers for the built-in keyboard. If I plug in a USB keyboard, it shows up in the Device Manager as an additional HID Keyboard Device. Through trial and error, I discovered that the keyboard still works fine when the Elan touchpad driver is not installed. The problem with THAT: I can't disable the touchpad unless the driver is installed, and if the touchpad isn't disabled, it'll screw me up because I accidentally brush my hand up against the touchpad while typing. I've also noticed that sometimes, the touchpad icon in the system tray shows up with a CAUTION icon overlaid on top of it (you know, the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point). I can't figure out why, and I can't figure out what changed on my computer that caused the keyboard to stop working properly. I've tried uninstalling the Elan touchpad driver, downloading the latest driver from the G780 support web page, and reinstalling it. No... Read more

Answer:G780 keyboard doesn't work, but ONLY when Elan Touchpad driver is installed.

hi stevesobol,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Are you also able to type your password on the login screen but after that the keyboard gets disabled? If this is the case, check this article as it's similar to the keyboard issue.

As for the Keyboard not working when the ELAN touchpad driver is not installed, this is surprising as I've never heard this issue happen before. Are you not able to disabled the touchpad via Fn+F6 even if the driver is not installed?

Hello everyone, My IdeaPad Z500 has already been sent and have returned from service, THREE TIMES IN A ROW!!! 1) I initially sent it for service because the SYNAPTICS touchpad had stopped working (it did not click, that is, physically, it was broken). They replaced it with a touchpad which was not recognized as some specific device. It said something like generic or something. It did not have any settings to adjust. I called the Lenovo technical support and after restoring the computer and downloading and installing the drivers (which I had already tried but didn't work, they didn't believe me however), they decided that it should be 2) sent back for service. Came back from service EXACTLY AS IT WAS, NOT WORKING, with a Bios update, thank you very much. 3) After apologizing, they asked me to resent it. I did. It returned this time with A MOTHERBOARD CHANGE and the touchpad this time had only these two options in its settings: "Left button" "Right Button". It seems, that in the mean time, the Lenovo site has updated the drivers, so this time they did work simply to tell me that the touchpad is (probably) functional but it is now called ELAN. My questions are the following: a) Did, in your opinion, this mashine need a motherboard change?b) Do they have the right to install an ELAN touchpad (without even themselves realizing it...), when I had bought and sent them to fix a laptop with a SYNAPTICS touchpad?c) When you are bying a compact device that i... Hello,I bought a Lenovo Z500 and after a while the touchpad started peeling off so I went to a lenovo service and changed the touchpad. After this, when I got the laptop back, the touchpad was working fine, but I couldn't scroll using two fingers (as I used to) so I reinstalled the Elan/Synaptics driver, but still not working. I reinstalled the whole system (Windows 7 x64) and is still not working.More details: Before the touchpad being changed I had the little icon in the task bar and when I used the mouse it appered in the icon how many fingers are touching the touchpad, now it doesn't. I tried to acces Elan by clicking on that icon (as I used to) and nothing's happening. I am waiting for a solution, because I use the touchpad more often that the mouse and without the Elan fuctions it's pretty much useless righnow.

I just got the LG Gram 15 laptop.

The ELAN touchpad delays/lags a bit when my finger first touches the pad. The mouse on the screen "jumps" a bit to compensate the delay. Seems like it is deliberately done to prevent accidental mouse movement upon click.

But it is sooo annoying. I cannot make any precise movements. Can anyone tell me how to disable it?

This post is for issues with my Lenovo g500s ELAN Touchpad: First, I am unable to move the pointer with my trackpad when I have keys pressed. I have tried disabling the palmcheck settings on the ELAN driver settings, to no avail. Uninstalling the ELAN drivers reduces it a little but there is still a strange lag in movement when I have more than one key pressed and try to move the pointer.Secondly, there is an issue with my left click when in the same situation. If I have a key pressed, I am unable to left click. Sometimes it will let me, but only after 9-10 seconds. The difference between this and the first issue is that this issue is NOT affected by disabling ELAN touchpad Drivers. My Drivers are all up to date, currently running the driver: ETDWare PS/2-X64 11.4.25.1_WHQL SPECS:Spoiler (Highlight to read)Operating SystemWindows 8.1 64-bitCPUIntel Core i3/i5/i7 @ 2.40GHz 40 °CIvy Bridge 22nm TechnologyRAM4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)MotherboardLENOVO INVALID (U3E1) 43 °CGraphicsGeneric PnP Monitor ([email protected])Intel HD Graphics (Lenovo)Storage465GB Seagate ST500LM000-1EJ162 (SATA) 32 °COptical DrivesMAT**bleep**A DVD-RAM UJ8C2AudioConexant SmartAudio HDOperating SystemWindows 8.1 64-bit  Operating SystemWindows 8.1 64-bitCPUIntel Core i3/i5/i7 @ 2.40GHz 40 °CIvy Bridge 22nm TechnologyRAM4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)MotherboardLENOVO INVALID (U3E1) 43 °CGraphicsGeneric PnP Monitor ([email protected])Intel HD G... I know there are couple threads about the touchpad drivers already but in my experience old threads tend to get ignored even if you post new information in them. Just posting this to help someone who may be experiencing the same problem I am.  I've looked around a bit and found people complaining about the fact that the Lenovo ELAN driver doesn't have an option for two finger tap to click. I've found a couple of registry hacks that enable the functionality but I prefer not to use them. I've also seen people use the ELAN dirvers that ASUS provides. This is the direction I choose to go.  Alot of people suggested using the 11.5.0.9 version driver. With this version it gives the two finger tap to click functionality but I found that two finger scrolling became unbearably jerky.  The best driver I've found is one listed on ASUS's site. It is driver version 11.5.11.3. No jerking when two finger scrolling the the two finger tap to click works perfect.  Here is a link to their touchpad driver download page

Been reading here and using win 10 from the outset. On latest build, updated this morning.

This Elan touchpad driver keeps coming in through windows update and it just screws up my touchpad more than anything. When it loads up I can no longer use right or left click functions on the touchpad. I can find no way to stop the update.

Is there any method for stopping a particular windows update from loading? I keep uninstalling it but it comes back all the time.

I am on an Asus G750J laptop.

Thanks for any help. Hopefully there is a simple fix that just eludes me.

Hello guys,

great feedback so far so I wanted to iron out another issue I have with windows 10.

Namely after getting around windows 10 constantly installing synaptics touchpad drivers over my elan touchpad Ive gotten it to work semi properly. The things that dont work are swipes, minimize or show desktop swipe and that switch to another task left - right swipe. Id like to get those to work. Is there some registry tweak or a new driver around?

The drivers from acer website restored my touchpad to near full functionality, the things that are missing are those windows 10 gesture swipes etc. two finger scroll, double tap to right click, 3 finger tap to email, 4 finger press to open assigned program, multifinger support....All work fine. So this is a pure driver issue/win10 conflict

Any workarounds?

Thanks guys.

I seem to be having issues with my touchpad. When I move my finger at a steady pace across the pad, the pointer jumps. This is particularly noticeable when moving it slowly and diagonally, which produces a stepped pattern. I have pasted a demonstration below, produced by moving my finger from the top left to bottom right of the pad at a slow pace in MS paint.  I got my machine recently, but only noticed this issue today. It is an ELAN device, and the latest drivers as listed on the support pages here are installed.

I have two machines that both have Elan touchpads and both of them have significant issues. One is an Asus Zenbook 303la. The other is a Samsung Ativbook 5. The Zenbook has erratic mouse movements. Sometimes the cursor will jump to another part of the screen. It also will click on stuff that I'm not trying to click on. The Ativbook has another issue. When I select something, there is a delay. I'll remove my finger and it stays selected for a few seconds. It especially has issues with scrolling. I tried configuring every option that I could think of.... I searched for a different driver to install but I didn't find anything on the Elan, Asus, or Samsung website. I tried uninstalling the driver and using the built in Windows driver. The touchpads work much better now but they are missing some features. The Samsung doesn't support double tapping for certain applications. Other than that it's acceptable. Anyone have any issues with these touchpad drivers or know of a work around?

Hi,
I tried disabling my laptop touchpad mouse when I plug in my USB mouse. I selected the disable option under the touchpad properties/preferences. The icon shows the disabled sign but the touchpad mouse is still active. I am thinking of uninstalling and then re-installing the driver. I cannot find the driver online so can someone direct me on where to locate this driver or provide me with some troubleshoot options to remedy this issue.
My PC is a Dell Inspiron 15 5548 model with windows 8.1 64-bit OS.
Please advise. Thank you.

Hi,
I have upgraded to 8.1 from 8(OEM) through the Store, when I tried to install the ELAN driver for 8.1 from Acer, installer says the driver installed but in device manager it shows only "PS2 compatible driver", the old driver works but it doesn't include "ETDctrl.exe" in Startup, I have to manually start it by going to Control Panel, HW and Mouse.
Is there anyway I could make ETDctrl.exe start when windows start? Thanks in advance for any suggestion and help.

Answer:Unable to install newer driver for ELAN touchpad

Hi ,

You could use task sequencer, so to do this bring up your start screen and type schedule task. Load up that application.

Then right click your task sequencer library and create a basic task. From that you can create a trigger to say when the computer starts load this application.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,
Harry

This is a weird one. I just got a second hand laptop - Acer V3-771G with an Elan touchpad and I put a new SSHD hard drive in it and installed Windows 10 fresh.

I see lots of issues with ELAN touchpads but it seems as though Microsoft has produce one that installs and fixes most scrolling issues.

However, I have a strange one. When I enable vertical scrolling in the driver, it works as long as the mouse is active - and for up to 5 seconds after. But when I stop using the touchpad and go to scroll again after 5 seconds, it doesn't work anymore! It's like it disables it after inactivity - but only 5 seconds?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, tried various versions - but of course Acer doesn't support Windows 10 on this older model laptop (circa 2012) so there are no specific drivers for it on their site. Everything works except for this scrolling after 5 seconds - which I can recreate every single time.

I tend to look at websites and want to read something and then scroll down - but I can't...it's driving me crazy!

Anybody have a problem like this?

Thanks.

Today I made the Windows 10 (Home) update to my Samsung Series 9 laptop (under 2yo) having uninstalled Avast! and making sure everything was up-to-date. I had to force the update as I noticed the 80240020 error present from Windows Update. Anyway, after the update the touchpad did not function correctly. At first it didn't work at all (luckily I had a wireless Logitech mouse) and then it was only able to move the cursor (clicks, scrolls and swipes did not work). I did a little research and found out that the culprit is the Elan touchpad driver 11.7.33.1 which both Windows Update and Samsung Update suggest as the driver I should use. I could not repair the software nor could I make find a better driver. I finally rolled-back to previous touchpad driver (some old MS driver) and it restored basic functionality (I can move the cursor and use left and right clicks). When I go to Samsung Update, it suggests I should install the incompatible driver. When I go to Windows Update, it forces the installation of the incompatible driver.

As I'm sure some of you have Samsung laptops or laptops that use the same touchpad drivers, I would be interested in hearing how compatible Windows 10 has been concerning your touchpads.

Answer:Elan touchpad driver incompatibility (Samsung laptop)

Hi,
Start with a backup of your system as a precaution and try this, it may help but I haven't tried it as I don't have a Samsung laptop.

EDIT:
If you don't want to do the registry editing, try different version of Win8/8.1 drivers and see whether any of them work, even if they are for different make of laptops.

hi i have a acer aspire e1531 and have been running windows with no issues for a couple of years now. recently windows updated the driver for the touchpad and since then i have had all kinds of trouble and now get BSOD most times i try to boot up windows with the error "page fault in non paed area" then it says "ETD.sys" which is the driver for the elan touchpad. i have tried to delete the elan driver but it just automatically updates and i cant stop windows from updating this and once it updates i get BSOD again. i have tried system restore and also tried a fresh install of windows 10 and the laptop works for a short time after but then the driver is automatically updated again then i get the same issues. i have contacted both microsoft and acer and haven't got anywhere with either of them microsoft blame acer and acer want me to pay for support which i refuse to do. I have also tried to revert back to windows 8 as apparantly my system is'nt recommended for win 10 but the windows 8 version was oem and acer want to sell me the media to reinstall windows 8 again even though i paid for win 8 when i purchased he laptop so i wont be paying £50 for windows 8 that i already have bought. I am guessing bios is current and not the source of this. If so next I would manually over ride that driver with the other. Download the correct one. Open the zip. Open the exe with say zip7. Use those extracted files from the exe to manually select for use in the device manager. Update driver, manual, have disk, browse to unzipped location, use and when windows objects say use anyway.  If this fails next would be to try unrelated drivers and force them in similar fashion like use synaptics touchpad drivers and see if one of those will play nice. Last solution or idea would be to mechanically swap touchpad for another kind from junk system or cheap keyboard.  In end it's a driver issue. Should be able to force install proper one and set to never update but manually.

So I had my Yoga 3 (11.6") in for replacement of the touchpad once and now it is acting up again.  The Elan touchpad is crap.  I cannot use this notebook without a mouse anymore because I cannot use the right click function.  Now I have to carry a mouse with me all the time... what a PITA. I've already install the latest driver on the support website (for Windows 10 x64 and even under Windows 8.1 had the same problem)  I even installed the Yoga 700 driver (basically updated Yoga 3 11inch) Anyone else have a solution? or is it time to have Lenovo repair it again.. (I'm thinking this is a hardware and software problem) Now I have to be without a notebook for another 2-3 weeks.... Never had a problem with HP, ASUS touchpads before, should have gotten a HP Spectre or Macbook Air - so disappointed... Also two finger click doesn't work either when it is enabled in the software, same result.  Tried adusting sensitivity low - high still nothing helps. (Did I get a LEMON?) (I've installed every BIOS and driver update on the support website) I check every week for a fix of the touchpad - nothing.

Answer:lenovo z500 built-in mic doesnt work

hi tynej,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you have already adjusted the microphone level / boost and you don't get any volume fluctuation when you try to record via sound recorder or skype then you may have a bad microphone connection.

What you can try is to:

1. Boot into the BIOS (press F2 during boot-up) and restore factory defaults by pressing F9 and F10 to save the settings. This will clear the cmos settings and re-initialize the hardware devices attached.

2. Try to install Ubuntu via Wubi to isolate if it's an OS issue (optional - can be uninstalled afterwards)

3. Try a USB microphone / headset. If this works, you may need to contact lenovo for service.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Trying to be helpful, I emailed Toshiba to let them know of a broken link to the latest Elan Touchpad Driver 12.8.5.1 for the Click Mini. Obviously not trying to be so helpful, I received an automated email from Toshiba telling me I had to to post this on the forum instead. This doesn't give me a nice warm feeling regarding customer support levels, but hey ho....

The broken link is: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...0707101101.zip

The driver support page points you to this dead link. I cant find the driver file in question anywhere else on the web:

tpdrv-20150707101101.zip

Answer:Satellite Click Mini L9W-B - Elan Touchpad - Missing Driver Hyperlink

Obviously something went wrong during the upload...

But ELAN touchpad driver does not depend on the notebook model.
You can use the ELAN touchpad driver released for other notebook series.

So in case this link doesn’t work, choose ELAN driver released for another Toshiba notebook series.

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

Hi, it appears that the elan mouse pad on my ideapad Z500 is not working. The only way I can use it is by plugging in an external mouse via USB. I've tried restarting the laptop several times but doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Please advise?

Answer:Ideapad Z500 ELAN mouse pad not working

hi chazchenko,

Welcome to the Forums.

You didn't mention the OS that you're using but if the machine came preloaded with Windows 8, can you try the following:
1. Press the Windows key? +R and type devmgmt.msc. On the Device Manager, navigate to the Mice and other pointing devices and ensure that the ELAN touchpad is present and is not disabled (uninstall it if necessary to refresh the device). Also, check if the Rollback Driver is clickable to isolate a faulty driver.

2. Hold the Shift key while doing a restart to boot into the Advanced Startup Options or press the OneKey Recovery button while the computer is turned off to boot into the System Recovery Options and from here, check if the internal mouse if it's working.

If the touchpad still doesn't work then there's likely an imminent failure on the touchpad. If you're no longer in warranty, you can try to open it up and remove and reinsert the Touchpad cable inplace and observe.

Guide:

If you're still under warranty then I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk for service.

I'm having a similar problem, only this one is self inflicted.

I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite A215. I just got a new USB mouse to use with it, so I wanted to disable the touch pad (since I kept accidentally touching it and messing up whatever I was doing). Well, after about an hour of wandering through the different settings and such looking for the touch pad's disabling option, I found it. Completely by accident, as I was about to give up.

Here's my problem: I forgot how I did it.

So now, I'm unable to use the mouse unless I have a usb mouse plugged in. While this isn't a major problem (I'm pretty decent at navigating with just the keyboard), it is getting extremely annoying when I just want to do something simple, or don't have a good surface to use my laser mouse on.

I'm running windows vista home premium. Anyone who can help, I would appreciate it very much.

Hi. Welcome to MGs.

Just for future reference, you should start a new thread when you have a question you need answered rather than posting it in one someone else started.

As far as your mouse, you should be able to go into your control panel and click on the mouse icon to access your touchpad controls.

Hi, you really should not call your sister that, but anyhow she might be a real pain so I continue with my suggestions:
What is the make/model of your laptop? Laptops come with a touchpad utility that kicks in during Windows startup, it might also be listed in the services if using Windows 2000 or XP. So the service or the startup entry in the registry might have been deleted (but not the utility itself), the utility might have been disabled or uninstalled. Even a slimmer chance the touchpad functionality might have been disabled in the BIOS settings as most laptop BIOSes do have a related setting.
Depending on your laptop make/model find out what that utility is (from the manual or company's web site), then check the 'Add-Remove Programs' list to see if the program is still installed (you could also check it in START > Programs or All Programs list which is even better). If it is really missing then download the utility or using the laptop's utility CD (if one exists) re-install the program. If it still doesnt work then last step check the BIOS....these are all I can think of for now...

hey guys, so after installing a wireless mouse onto my toshiba laptop, all seemed fine. but suddenly after a couple of days, the touchpad didnt function properly and it also at certain moments, the keyboard disfunctioned as well.

i went onto device manager and found that there was a problem with the ALPS touchpad. wen i try and update the driver it comes up with a "code 10 error". even after uninstalling the wireless mouse the touchpad is still infunctionable.

ive read through alot of forums but none have been of great help, i tried system restoring my comp and opening at a date before installation but there was also a problem with the system restore as it couldnt due to error 0xc0000022.

my most recent attempt was to delete the ALPS touchpad driver and reinstall it. i downloaded the driver of the internet and tried to reinstall but it came up with the error code = 0x00000103 ---> a touchpad error.

atm im quite lost and in need of great help!!!

this computer is also only 2months old running on Windows 7.

Answer:Satellite U500- touchpad doesnt work

Something is screwed up, probably some registry entries.
Check please http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123 and http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/how-to-fix-code-10-error/

If nothing helps reinstall OS using original Toshiba recovery image.

Hello everyone. I have one big problem. I reinstalled my 8.1 pro (legal copy, disk been fully formatted) and it was okay for few hours. Next time im starting the laptop, my keyboard and touchpad doesnt work. I plugged USB mouse and keyboard and it works just fine. I went to device manager and besides Standart PS/2 keyboard and mouse icons there was orange triangle meaning that i have problem with drivers. I searched drivers online, but unsuccsessily.. After few hours of trying to fix it, my Standart PS/2 Keyboard turned into Unknown device and now im completely lost. Adding photo of device manager, i hope someone will help me here.

Answer:8.1 pro laptop keyboard and touchpad doesnt work

Since we do not know the make and model of your laptop.
Should try the laptop manufacturer's website to see if you can find the drivers for this. Does look like there missing.

What does it tell you when you right click the ones with yellow exclamation points ?

You can right click and select update driver software, either search automatically or browse your computer, select signed driver from the list is shows you.

I just bought a Toshiba laptop and am running windows 8. As soon as i got it out of the box, i immediately installed my Logitech wireless mouse...but now i notice that my touchpad doesnt respond whether the mouse is plugged in or NOT! i need my touchpad operational but cant find the control on this new Windows 8 layout.
Can someone please help?

Answer:Solved: Laptop Touchpad doesnt work

laptops usually have a third party software that controls how the touchpad operates, however even without that software the touchpad has basic functionality. Check your hot keys (the F keys) in case you accidentally disabled it. The synaptics software can also be used to disable the touchpad, so research how to do that for your model and attempt to re-enable it. Since it is under warranty, if you get stuck, contact Toshiba tech support and they will help you.

My laptop is HP envy 15t-ae000 CTO which run windows 8.1 . Today i updated my OS and restarted the system and found out that i am not able to use my touchpad.  I tried reinstalling the latest synaptics touchpad driver from the HP support center, but unfortunately it did not fix the issue. I tried to run the HP diagnostics during bootup for the touchpad and was not able to move the mouse pointer. Although the status of the diagnostics run says cancelled rather than failed.  If someone could suggest some probable solutions, it would be of great help. Thanks in advance. Regards,Srijith

Hi HP Support Greetings from Latin America, we have a HP Pavillion All in one 27-n001la, mainly used by my 5 years old daughter, with all her educative games. Since the upgrade to Windows 10, touch screen is not longer "touch", and we cannot find driver available at the website to solve this issue, which btw, is quite relevant for my daughter as she still doesnt have any control of the mouse. Hope you can help us. Warm Regards from Chile Carolina

The whole story sounds unbelievable. Brand new notebook and keyboard is not working???
Install recovery image again and check if the situation is the same. If the problem persists contact your local dealer, explain the situation and ask for exchange.

Hi all, i have some problems with my FN keys, my touchpad doesnt work anymore, in addition to this, when I push the FN key, I dont see any icon on the top of screen.. Two days ago all of this was working properly.. An error is given by the program called Tossiba assist, its written exactly so: this system cant use accesibility.. Could you please help about this problem?
My operation system is Windows vista 32 bit (service pack 1)

Finally, sorry for my English, if I make any mistakes, it is not my native language..

Thanks in advance

Answer:Satellite A350-212 - touchpad doesnt work anymore

Try to restart flash cards.
Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Restart Flash Cards

After doing this press FN button several times to see if Flash Cards are shown on the top of the screen again.
If you will see Flash Cards again use FN+F9 key combination to enable touch pad again.

Answer:T500 touchpad doesnt work after installing windows7

What I did is to install ThinkVantage System Update 4.0, and let that get the appropriate Lenovo drivers.  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73695.html

Hello,

I am using a Satellite Pro S500-139 and am having problems with my F9 key. When i type my palm touches the mouse and send the cursor somewhere else on the page. I have reinstalled the ALPS pointing device and now have access to the advanced setting that i wasn't able to get.

Although i can adjust the sensitivity etc i would really like to be able to use the shortcut to disable the mouse momentarily whilst typing. My keyboard shows that if i press fn and F9 the i should be able to disable the mouse however the function doesnt work. all the other F9 functions appear to work.

Do you know if there is a resolution to this?

I am running windows 7 pro 32 bit service pack 1.

Answer:Satellite Pro S500-139 - FN+F9 button doesnt work to turn touchpad off

What you can try is to reinstall Toshiba value added package.

Answer:Qosmio X300 - Touchpad doesnt work using Win7 or Vista

Hi

The Win 7 drivers are not released for this notebook.
Therefore your issue could be related to the non-compatible driver.

But in most cases the Vista drivers are compatible with Win 7 and therefore I?m wonder about this issue?

I think you should reinstall the touchpad drivers again?
First of all remove the old touchpad drivers from the system? you can do this in control panel -> Programs and Features
Here you will find installed applications.

On the Toshiba European driver page you will find the Vista touchpad drivers for Qosmio X300.
Note; there are two touchpad drivers; Synaptics & Alps Electric
Both have to be installed!!!

Toshiba Satellite A200 SKU PSAF6A-02Q01N Synaptics Touch pad issues, scroll doesn't work.

Operating system Win7 x64, re-formatted and upgraded from Vista x32, after having initial problems installing drivers and getting everything to work smoothly (for at least 2 months now), i was successful. Today out of the blue the scroll on the touch pad stopped working.

I read on some forums what to do, most said try uninstalling the driver using CCleaner and reinstall.
Tried to uninstall and re-install driver from Aus Support > Drivers, did this but got error, (something about) not recognising the OS.

I went to the Synaptics website found a driver which was recognised, installed it but not really wanting to restart the pc before i get some advice first. As there is a warning about specific drivers for specific Manufacturers and Models..

Help required, please.

Hi,

Uninstall the existing touchpad driver and install this one:

Recently, it has been already discussed about the touchpad malfunction in this thread. But unfortunately, it didn't help him

Hi there! I have a very annoying problem with my touchpad, I cant figure out how to enable the multi-touch gestures and drivers don't seem to work at all. First of all, my laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-572G-75MW. The drivers on the cd are for windows 8, (there's a synaptics and a elantech driver, when i try installing both of them, they install and at the end i get and "not needed, no device for update present"). I tried installing an elantech for w7 driver and i got an "ready to use" status at the end but absolutely nothing changed, no item in install/uninstall options, no item in control panel or in the mouse category, nothing. I tried the same thing with a W7 synaptics driver and i get the same status at the end but here i get two options:

Again nothing changed, even after restarting. I am unable to see any settings regarding my touchpad, this is all i get in the control panel mouse category:

That's all i get no matter what i try to install, i can't get anything to stick around, i've tried similar laptop's drivers, again with no luck at att and sucks since my touchpad has the clicking buttons integrated into the touchpad, its really annoying trying to scroll something. I tried enabling two-finger scrolling through some registry tricks but i couldnt find the right items and it didnt work. I dont even know what my touchpad's manufacturer is, all i get is that HID compliant mouse. Thank you!

Answer:Touchpad multi-touch/driver/synaptics problem

I downloaded the manual. The touchpad is explained on p17 of the manual. Since the notebook came with 8.1 and I can only find drivers for Windows 8, you may not get full usage out of the hardware because you are not running the correct version of Windows. The best drivers come from the hardware manufacturer and they are no providing any Win 7 drivers.

So my touchpad of the G4 sometimes acts erraticly and solves itself after doing couple of restarts. but recently it has gotten more frustrating. The touchpad automatically moves the cursor and start clicking. when i try to m ove the cursor using the touchpad it acts very unresponsive and only goes sideways. Now the problem is i dont know what kind of problem this is, is it a software or a hardware issue? NB: I Uninsstalled and reinstalled different drivers with no luck.

Basic story is that I bought my lenovo laptop about a year ago. I was excited when I received it, however, I quickly realized that the right mouse click button did not work correctly. You have to press it very hard and it regularly fails to work. As far as I can tell from reading around, the synaptics version of the pad had issues that were resolved by a driver update. Has there been any sort of fix for the ELAN version? I've tried both uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers available (as far as I can tell) to no benefit. Would really love to get this fixed so that I can use this laptop as intended.

Hello,

I'm using a MSI GP60 Leopard Laptop and have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
My touchpad in Windows 8.1 worked fine but when I upgraded it seemed to stop working. I went to the mouse settings
and the Elan tab and enabled it back and everything worked again. But then the next day it seemed to have stopped working again. Yet, this time I went to the Elan tab and nothing was there. Any help?

My work around for the crazy touchpad has been to disable it.  Had tried to change the sensitivity settings with no luck. Now the device starts back on its own.   I have to go back in to mouse settings; it will show disabled, but i check and re-check the disable box and apply and it will disable it again.Any suggestions to this or a fix for the touchpad yet???G580 20150

Answer:Elan touch won't stay disabled....

I have tried to be patient for the problem to get resolved by someone somehow.  It's getting very annoying to have to go into mouse settings and re-check the "disable touchpad while using usb pointing device" every single time i start the computer.    It will revert to being enabled otherwise. The touchpad will not allow typing anything without going crazy.  Skipping around, highlighting stuff, relocating the cursor, etc.,,,   It is so bad there is no way i could have typed this post without disabling it...   Yes i have adjusted the elan settings - does not help enough. There is no way i am alone on this issue and it has to be causing folks a lot if grief. Laptop:  G580 (20150) Also tried uninstalling driver and reinstalling from lenovo site..... same issue. Hope someone can come up with a solution...Please post if you can assist with this. Thanks

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Booting into the Recovery Environment.
(From an OFF state, Press the One key Recovery Button)
Select Recovery.   We are not going to continue the Recovery, Just the Environment.

Once you saw your Mouse pointer, Try your touchscreen.
If that did not work there as well.
