Ideapad z500 (without touch) stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

Question: Ideapad z500 (without touch) stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

Hi,My ideapad z500 each time stucks at "lenovo splash screen", but pressing any key will continue to boot and system will run without any issue. This problem is there almost 90% time when I restart or power on my machine. This problem is very annoying because whenever due to windows update machine restarts multiple time i have to sit there to press the key, its very painful. My BIOS version is 1.21, I have also tried resstting the BIOS by entering to BIOS setup, but issue is not resolved. This issue is not new, this was there when I bought this laptop, initially I ignored it because of workaround. . is there any solution to this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Ideapad z500 (without touch) stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

I enabled startup password in BIOS to troubleshoot the problem, when I rebooted the system on BIOS password prompt appeared with continuous beep and none of the keys were working, I pressed enter and "Invalid password" pop-up came and beep stopped.Does it look like hardware problem?

Hi everyone. I've got a big problem with my laptop. I will explain the whole situation.  I recently upgrade my laptop with a Samsung Evo ssd and a 8 Gb ram ddr3 1600. At the beginning everything was fine but then, sometimes I got screen problems (like flickering) and windows 10 crashed. Now the biggest problem : my laptop is stuck at lenovo logo with loading dots. Even if I try to load USB windows tool (to install new os) it doesn't work. I also tried to install Ubuntu unsuccessfully. I searched on the web all the possible solutions. I temporary removed the battery, ac adapter and hold the power button for 30 secs, but nothing. I also read to remove the cmos battery but I can't locate it in my IdeaPad z500. I also searched on the hardware maintainance pdf but there is nothing about that. I also removed ssd and new ram  with old components but it's still the same. I don't know what to do know, please help me!! I hope I didn't screw my laptop

Looking for a fix to this screen flickering issue on my Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Touch Screen Notebook. I took it to the Service Center and the technicians there changed the LCD cable that connects the screen with the motherboard. Still, The problem persists. The engineers over there do not seem to have a clue whether this problem is Hardware or Software and I don't wish to unnecessary get my machine disassembled again. This flicker does not happen continuously though. My notebook works fine if i keep it unmoved on the desk. But the moment i try to adjust the lid or move my notebook around, the flickering starts. To stop it, I simply put my machine on sleep mode or close the lid for 5 odd minutes. Upon wake up, The Screen again appears to work fine minus any flicker. Would appreciate any help in this regard. I have also captured a Video of the problem. Please Refer: http://youtu.be/kp12dYt6OWE

I am having the same problem.  The screen, it seems to be the touch screen like someone is touching it, Also, magnifies in and out.  If I move the laptop, or the screen that can cause it to start.  Or it just starts by its self, if I leave it on, when I come back it flickering.  I have to close it down and start all over again.I took it to a shop, they tried a few things but couldn't fix it, some suggestions: they thought it might be something to do with the graphics?? Maybe!   If anybody has this problem and sloved it, be really good to hear from you.

I'm trying to repair this machine for my nephew. When I turn it on, it never moves past the Lenovo splash screen. I tried the NOVO button, but it just goes to the same Lenovo screen, and just cycles off again after about 5 seconds. I don't know that much about Lenovo laptops. I've tried pushing the F2, F12, FN+F2, FN+F12 to no avail. I can't get to any BIOS options, or boot it through a boot CD. Any help will be appreciated.    Thanks!

Seems like a hardware issue but can't seem to get this laptop to boot at all. On startup it hangs at the Lenovo logo screen. Have tried booting to a Windows 8 recovery flashdrive and it starts to load it and eventually goes to a black screen. I was able to boot to an older Hiren's boot cd setup and run a memory test from the cmd line(passed) and also tried to run mini xp and it seemed to only load the background for some reason.. Haven't had a whole lot of time to take a look at it but any ideas I could try out? - Thanks

I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

Answer:ThinkCentre: Stuck at Lenovo splash screen after lenovo solution bios upgrade

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,

Black screen after replacing the case. I apologize in advance for my bad English. After replacing the case (inside nothing changed), the laptop shows a black screen. When connecting an external monitor, there is also no image. I checked all the contacts - everything is connected correctly. In this case, the laptop does not boot into windows (there is no reaction to the capslock, there is no lenovo logo), although the cooler starts, all the indicators are lit. When connecting or disconnecting the power adapter, the laptop issues beep, I can not understand what the problem may be. I will be grateful for any help.

So a few days ago I was watching Netflix and then my computer crashed, turned it back on and no problem. A few hours later it crashes again but this time when I turn it back on it gets stucks on the Lenovo start up screen with the dots going in a circle. I did some research and only thing I found was to restore my laptop. Of course wasn't smart and didn't make backups so I had to restore from Initial. At first it worked and first thing i did was update back to windows 10 (over night becuase at that point it was 2 am) and then proceed to install steam (and a few games), Skype, discord, chrome, 7zip, teamspeak and avast nothing suspicious or anything. But after I would say around 7 hours the desktop starts crashing and bugging out so I reset my computer 2-3 times and then eventually I get to just a black screen with just a cursor. Couldn't find a working solution so once again I factory data reset it. Then I got stuck on the Lenovo start up screen some times seeing  just the spinning dots. Tried resetting again and no change.  When on the Lenovo screen came up some times I would just see spinning dots, sometime It would say "automatic restoration" or something along those lines and "diagnosing your pc".

Answer:G50-45 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

Seems like all the restart probably corrupted the hard drive. You can try performing a Lenovo OneKey recovery. To do this, press and hold the 'Novo' button on your computer. You may need a paper chip to be able to press it. Then, you should have an option for recovery

i recently upgraded my y50-70 from win8.1 to win 10 when i got the notification telling me it was all ready to go.the update succesfully completed without any issues, and since i had few things on my laptop it was pretty quick.i downloaded then the win10 compatible drivers for my laptop model page on the lenovo website and installed them successfully but here things go horribly wrong. (ps, win10 had successfully authenticated and downloaded all the windows updates needed).i hit reboot after installing the updates and since then i never saw the desktop again. the laptop keeps hanging on the lenovo splash screen with the loading dots, never makes it to windows or to any login page. the power cord led stays on even if the pc is not connected via ac. the only way to exit this situation is by force shutdown with the power button. the only alternative is the novo button wich starts up the pc and gives me access to the bios, boot and recovery menu (onekey backup).these things DID NOT solve the problem:-resetting bios (no effect)-repairing windows (no effect)-rollback to win8.1 (rollback fails and reverts to win10 again)-recover with onekey backup image (fails to recover)-reset windows + keep files and apps (no effect)-reset windows + delete all files and apps (no effect)-reset to factory settings (no effect) basically everything i've done had no effect whatsoever. i had a usb drive with ubuntu on it and i tried to boot with that to see if something was wrong within the windows ... I?m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is not booting to Windows and hanging at Lenovo Logo and the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power step. Hence, I suggest to perform BIOS reset and check if the issue persists. Below are the steps to perform BIOS reset:

To access BIOS menu turn OFF the Laptop and press the NOVO button located beside power button.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.

Do post us back if the issue persists.

The first thing I look at if a machine hangs at startup is the USB ports.  Physical damage can create shorts which cause these symptoms.  Check for bent pins or a tongue broken off.

I bought this g510 less then a year ago without an OS.I've installed win7 first then ubuntu14.04, back when i get it.Yesterday I deleted my win7 partition and reinstalled a premium sp1 win7 version from a usb formatted as NTFS - as you might have guessed I'm booting the laptop in legaci mode. The installation got stuck and failed and i had to do a hard reset. After the hard reset the laptop won't boot and in fact it won't even pass the splash screen or respond to fn+f2 or any other shortcut to get into the bios. Even when i shut it off and press the Novo button it starts but doesn't display the blue utility menu with bios and boot options. Ive tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds witn the battery and power cable disconnected and tried to boot from usb but still nothing.I then took the hard drive out and the laptop would boot and respond to novo button and fn+f2 and i can go into bios. It would also boot from usb when the hdd is disconnected. But it dosen't matter which bios settings i change or if the bootable usb is connected, when i hook the hdd back the laptop will just get stuck on lenovo splash screen again and won't respond to Novo button or fn+12 and it won't boot from usb - i should mention it does respond to capslock or the key to make the screen black (fn+f9).I have a 1TR samsung sata hdd that seems to be perfectly fine. Answer:lenovo g510 stuck in lenovo splash screen

hi markwills,

Welcome to the Forums.

If using another drive works fine on the G510 then I suspect that the stock HDD is failing or has corrupt partitions.

Can you consider using a 2.5" SATA enclosure to convert the stock HDD into an external drive and try to format the drive and/or run a hardware scan on it using the following:

  - Lenovo Storage Test or
  - HD Tune.

When finished, try to insert it back on the G510 and observe.

If you get errors on the scan or if the above step is not possible, I recommend you contact warranty support on how to go about getting the unit serviced.

I have 8 GB of RAM memory, the constent state is about 45% memory use.
when I look at the task manager and I calculate the precentge of use by different processes and the amout of space they take in MB it looks like I have only 4 GB of memory.

For exemple, 800 MB use by the anti-virus is translated to almost 20%, somthing dosent end-up right.
I checked the hardware in Everset and in thesettings and they both showes 8GB

IS IT POSSIBLE?

Answer:Lenovo z500 - High memory usege+turn off the touch screen

hi SolFine,

Welcome to the Forums.

There's no feature to turn OFF/ON the touchscreen but you can try to disable it via the Device Manager > Human Interface Devices (there are usually 2-3 entries here and one of them controls the Touchscreen > right click on it and choose disable)

As for the RAM usage, can you try open System Properties (Winkey+I > PC Info) and check the Installed RAM area,
- Link to picture

If it says 8GB (4.xx usable), the RAM is most likely being allocated to the Integrated Graphics Processor.

Hello kind people of the lenovo forums,  Let me share my struggle first so you may appreciate my desperation for an answer a little more. Hopefully someone has an answer to my problem and is kind enough to spread some knowledge. So the problem started when one day I tried turning on my laptop from a hibernation and the computer got stuck on the lenovo splash screen with the loading wheel spinning around. I thought it was weird but thought nothing of it at first and tried restarting, no luck tried multiple more times, even taking out the battery so on and so forth.. nothing. So after many failed attempts at troubleshooting I managed to get into the bios and checked all the settings, made sure i was booting from the right drive and restarted the computer. Well now my problems got worse, now I was stuck on the lenovo splash screen without any spinning wheel or glimpse off hope like it was loading or something. Just the lenovo logo blaring at me in its white on black glory. I could not access the bios or any menus.. hours.. no days of troubleshooting with no luck... So now I'm thinking i have to clear the cmos because this has got to be a bios issue seeing as i can't boot anything or even access the boot menu. Do some googleing, NOOO.. the cmos battery is not easily accessible and on top of that it's soldered to the board. My warranty is already over, and paying some dude to tear apart my laptop is out of the question. So now I'm comin... Read more

Answer:G510 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

hi oferpaster,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to verify, do you have any external peripherals connected to the PC (eg. USB Flashdrive, 3TB external drive, etc.)?

If you have external drives connected to the PC, can you temporarily disconnect them and ensure that the HDD is set as the first boot device in the BIOS and observe.

If you don't have any external device connected to the machine, I would consider running a hardware scan on the PC as soon as you're able to boot up into Windows.

Check this link (see Quick Tests):
Lenovo Diagnostic Solutions

If you get any error(s) on the test(s), you may need to contact lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

Hi I am new to this community, so I would like to applogise if I mist a simillar subject (I did check some but non resolved my problem). I have a thinkpad t420, I bought a used one. It worked great, and I bought it from a friend, that I trust. I installed a ssd drive, was usnig Linux, and everything worked for one month. But then I bought a HDD caddy, and replaced the CD rom. After that my thinkpad worked for a day (although it didnt recognize the second HDD). The next day I tried searching BIOS for some settings, and after restarting my laptop it was stuck on Lenovo splash screen, rebooting in a loop. I tried:- removing and replacing the caddy with the CD rom,- replacing my SSD drive,- replacing RAM (both slots),- reseting BIOS,- running a diagnostic CD (but it will not boot, neither can I boot from an USB) My google search showed that it could bi a problem with one of the USB pins inside of one of the ports (short circuit or something like that), but I could not finde any damage. So I am thinkig that the motherboard could be damaged, but I can access BIOS, but that is the only thing I can do with it. I would be wery thenkful for any advice or help, before I go to an official Lenovo service for help. Thnak you! Z.

Answer:T420 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

Hi Zjaz123456,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with not booting to OS on your ThinkPad T420.
Is both HDD &SSD detecting in BIOS?

Check with removing CMOS battery, make sure you have disconnected the system from AC adapter and battery is removed.

Remove both the drive & battery from the system, disconnect the power adapter. Press and hold the power button for 15 to 20 sec perform this step for 2 to 3 times and then connect only the drive which is having OS installed in it. Use only power adapter to switch ON the system.

Hope this helps. Do post us back for further assistance!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi guys, I'm about to purchase a new lenovo ideapad  z500 but since I'm going to place an online order I cannot see whether the laptop has a glare or anti glare screen, I tried contacting the seller but he has no idea about this feature.I was wondering if there was a way of knowing whether the laptop has a glare or antiglare screen just by looking at some numbers printed on the cardboard box of the laptop, without having to open the laptop. The laptop model number is LENOVO   Z500-59372854

Hey, my Lenovo s10e perpetually restarts after the Lenovo splash screen. The blinking cursor comes up for 5 seconds and then the computer restarts again. F1 for system bios or F8 for safe mode do not work. Taking out battery/AC and holding power button for 40 secs also yields no results. Computer had been working fine, when inexplicably the virtual memory shot up and the paging file had to be increased. Tried to shut down the computer but it wasn't responding, so I did so manually. I have not been able to get the computer to boot up properly since. I spoke with Lenovo on the phone and they said it was a motherboard issue, and the computer had to be sent in. Was wondering if anyone had some other possible solutions before I'm forced to ship it out. All the best,Andom

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad s10e Keeps Restarting after Splash Screen

hi Andominus, Perform One Key Recovery Option and select restore from initial back up. This wil cause full loss of data so make sure you've got a backup of it. Also, make sure that in BIOS, boot device priorities are in correct order.  Good luck!

Hello folks,  I seem to be having some issue with installing Windows 10. I found the Lenovo Upgrade Checklist and followed the steps point for point. (https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht104203) After downloading the update, it requested a restart and booted up into the update screen. The update got to around 20% and restarted as noted on the update screen.  Once again I'm presented with the Lenovo boot screen but this time it doesn't seem to be progressing, nothing has changed for the last 50 minutes and counting. What was other people's experience through the upgrade? Should I be prepared for a longer wait or is this abnormal to the process? Thanks for taking the time to read!

I partitioned my SSD into two parts trying to install another OS to the newly unallocated partition. Rebooted into boot menu, but couldn't find my USB drive in the menu. Anyways I said nevermind it's okay and decided to boot normally. It booted without any problem and then for whatever reason I shut down the pc. Turn it back on a little later, now it's stuck at the LENOVO splash screen, won't boot no matter what I do

Answer:LENOVO Y2P stuck at Lenovo Splash Screen

Do you have a Windows 8 or 7 recovery media? If so, boot to that, enter advance options and do a system restore or boot fix (boot fix is your last option if using a Windows 7 recovery img). This might fix the boot but, the okr system is broken for good unless you purchase recovery disks.

Hey all,

I have recently decided to restore my laptop back to factory settings for various reasons.

The factory settings on the recovery partition mean returning to Windows 8.1 and then upgrading back to Windows 10.

I have no problem returning to Windows 8.1 but when I use the Windows Media Creation tool to download Windows 10 and install something happens.

I start the installation where it says the computer will restart several times, but during one of the restarts it gets stuck at the Lenovo splash screen.

I have since run restore to get back to 8.1 a couple of times just in case there was a problem there but still the same problem happens when trying to upgrade to 10.

I have had no problem returning to 8.1 and then upgrading to 10 in the past.

I'm not sure what kind of information you'll need from me so request and I will let you know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mark

Answer:Windows 10 Upgrade - Installation stuck at Lenovo splash screen

I forgot to add:
After it has been onthat screen for a couple of hours I decide to hold the power button down on the laptop to force it to turn off.
After that it restores 8.1 automatically and presents this error:

We couldn't install Windows 10
We've set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10.

0xC1900101 - 0x3000D
The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation

Other posts in this Forum have stated that antivirus could be the problem and removing it has solved the problem for other users, however, mine is a wipe and return to factory and I have uninstalled that awful McAfee that comes with Lenovo.

Purchased new from Best buy in May 2017.  All has worked perfectly until now.  Left my computer for a while while it did some Win10 updates and come back and the Lenovo splash screen is on the screen.  Will not go past that.  I can shut it down by holding the power button but when restated the keyboard lights up and the splash screen comes up and that is it. I have tried pushing the little recovery button while the laptop was off and it does the same thing as the power button and sticks at the splash screen.  $1800 door stop!!! Anyone got any suggestions

Friends, I have a Lenovo Idea Pad U430 Touch (WIN 8.1 64 bit) and the touch screen seem to be having an issue. I had spoken to the Lenovo Support 4 times and spent more than 10 hours on this issue so far. The bubbles appear at the top of my laptop and the mouse pointer goes haywire. This occurs when I start my laptop, for a few minutes and also intermittent - does not happen every time I start. One support person asked me to do a factory reset and I refused as I would be losing the entire set-up and have to spend more than 10 hours restoring it back. I wanted to escalate the problem and yesterday another support person has given an idea to isolate the issue by disabling the touch screen as mentioned in this thread. I just did a Google search and looks like this is a manufacturing issue based on the posts in this thread.Contents from the thread I found in the web:  So I've uploaded this video to document the problem I'm having with my Lenovo Idea pad Z400 touch screen. Every so often, the screen would just go berserk. The video show the left hand side of my laptop with all those circles popping up as if someone if touching the screen. Well, no one is touching the screen ... the laptop is doing it all by itself. And when I try to log out, I couldn't because the mouse functions have been affected ... have to shut down the laptop by pressing the power button. Very frustrating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znItnUW8feQ&list=UUbaNFySaNij9lqkST4SdeQQ&index=3... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch Screen Issue

I just would like to make the following suggestion in support of the recommendation to factory reset the unit: 1. Run OKR backup and do a user backup. Save it to folder in another drive to be sure. 2. Do the restore through OKR and select restore to initial backup. This will restore to factory default. 3. If your problem does not exist anymore then it could mean something is going on. And you can start deciding to whether to reinstall those third party programs or not. However, if the problem still exist run OKR restore but this time choose user backup and point to where you save the backup. This should put back the unit to the present condition with all your third party programs and files intact.

Hello,   I recently did a factory reset on my Lenovo IdeaPad P400, and now my touch screen doesn't work, at all.  Before the reset, it worked perfectly.  I don't have any viruses, malware, or hardware issues.  If I go to control panel and look at the my computer properties, it says "No Pen or Touch input available for this system" or whatever.  Also, i've tried the FW update .exe thing, and when I click start it tells me "no controller available" or something like that.  I also tried using the OneKey Recovery option, and "Refreshing" my PC.  Also didn't work.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I tried to see if there was some kind of update that I should download, and my efforts yet again were in vain. Alas, I figured the more knowledgable might be able to guide me in the right direction so....any ideas? With thanks,Matt

Hello. I have a friend who has upgraded her Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. We're not sure if the upgrade broke the touch screen or whether it wasn't working beforehand. We've tried various things to get it to work, including the item here...https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/ht104469... and we've tried disabling the option to 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in the HID USB devices. Actually, there is a device "HID compliant touch screen" that appears to be working correctly, and we get the keyboard symbol in the system tray, so the computer seems to be seeing the touch screen okay - it just doesn't work at all. My friend phoned Lenovo, who took the machine details and advised her two things...1. Gave her a link to try for drivers from the Lenovo website. The link appeared to be for AMD drivers and was for the Flex 15D computer - not very impressive.2. Told her if this didn't work (and I'm fairly sure it wouldn't) to revert back to Windows 8.1 - also not very impressive. What to do now I wonder? Thanks for reading this, and for any help you might be able to give.

SpeedFan seems to pick up temperatures, but the voltages are messed up. What's a good hardware monitor for this motherboard? Thanks

Answer:H405 freezes at Lenovo Splash screen. Also, turn off splash screen? Hardware Monitor recommendation?

Hi vetitice and welcome to the Community,

It sounds like you want a fairly complete monitoring tool.  Speccy always came to mind.  It should work okay for your board.

You might want to make sure the ram is seated properly and do a diagnostic on the hard drive.

I forgot to put my ideapad 300 on the charger the other day and it died, and now I can't get it to turn back on. It goes to the lenovo screen (but it's really really dim), and then it goes black again. It makes sounds and the little lights turn on when I press the power button. I've seen other things online say to remove the battery, but I'm not comfortable with doing that since it would basically require taking the whole laptop apart. Any suggestions?

So basically as of yesterday whenever I try to turn on my Ideapad 110 it just stays stuck on the Lenovo screen with the loading wheel and won?t proceed. I have read through other threads and tried all the following: 1. Using Automatic Repair Tools - Screen just stays stuck on Preparing Automatic Repair Tools2. Loading in Safe Mode - No matter which buttons I press the option to load in safe mode does not appear. Just stays stuck on the loading wheel3. Using the Novo button to launch System Recovery - once again it just stays stuck on the Lenovo loading wheel. i am at my wits end about this and seeing as this laptop is only a few months old I am not expecting such issues to occur. If anyone could please offer any support as to what to do I would be grateful, but I fee at this rate I?ll just be forced to download a new Windows ISO off my work computer and go off that, if that would work anyway. Thanks very much in advance

Hi, I have screen brightness problem and 5GHz wifi not discovering after window 10 installed. I know the easy option to downgrade is 30 days period which has already past. I was looking option to downgrade through Onekey Rescue System, But I am confuse here as I don't have OS back up in cd/dvd or anything. Can i do without it? if I make copy of OS now, which OS will be backup Win8 or Win10 (current using)? Please advise me what to do.Thanks

Answer:Ideapad Z500 Touch downgrade from win10 to win8 or 7

"...I was looking option to downgrade through Onekey Rescue System, But I am confuse here as I don't have OS back up in cd/dvd or anything. Can i do without it?" Comment: A copy of the Win 8 including all programs from the factory is place in a hidden partition of the hdd. You need OneKey Recovery program to access it and be able to restore the unit to factory consition. "...if I make copy of OS now, which OS will be backup Win8 or Win10 (current using)?" Comment: First of all how will you do the copy? If it is in Win 10 then you will have a Win 10 backup. That is after the upgrade to Win 10 you will not be able to make a backup through OKR but in Win 10 only.

When I was playing Mass Effect 2 the game would suddenly freeze but the sound would keep going, though it would sound like a horn being blown down industrial fans and every so often would revert back to normal. If I had earphones in it would keep swiching to speakers instead. If I didn't Ctrl+Alt+Delete to task manager the laptop would sometimes blue screen or if I didn't end the task it could also blue screen. I thought the laptop needed to be refreshed so I did so, reinstalled all drivers and the game but it was still happening. I even found that when I went onto the nvidia control panel and looked at the spinning preview image, after a few seconds the system would freeze until getting the message about the driver not responding and successfully recovering. I've tried 3 drivers (The original that shipped with the laptop, the latest lenovo released driver and nvidia's latest driver) but they all had the same problem. For now I have just completely removed the nvidia drivers and haven't had any more problems. I would like to get the graphics card working again and was hoping someone might know a soloution. The Graphics Card is the Nvidia GeForce GT 740M. The most common blue screen I was getting when I wasn't gaming was the driver_power_state_failiure one and when I was I think it was the dpc_watchdog_violation one.

Answer:Ideapad Z500 Touch graphics card problem

There is no solution that I can find. If anyone knows anything or could at least put me on the right track I'd be very grateful.

Hello all, I have a Lenovo Ideapad P400 and am using Windows 8.1.  64-bit.    I have 2 seperate issues, any advice on either would be greatly appreciated. 1.  I just ran Lenovo Solution Center Hardware Scan comprehensive and came back with Result Code: WWF00F000-HL9X7G.  Local Connection Test is what had the Warning.  The only other factor I could attribute to this warning code is in my Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", my USB xHCI Host Controller has a yellow "!" next to it and if I hit properties it says "The Device Cannot Start" (Code 10)  .... (Operation Failed)  The requested operation was unsuccessful.   Can you tell me how to fix the warning code recieved from LSC or how I can fix the driver issue on the USB xHCI?    Also I cannot for the life of me figure out how to re-enable my Touchscreen on the laptop.  It just turned off weeks ago and I have not been able to get it turned back on. Any ideas? Thanks a ton, Ch

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad P400 Touch Screen and Error Code

Hi Bob,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Firstly, this controller enables USB over wireless as part of the Intel (WiDi) Wireless Display function. The yellow bank (or warning) just started occurring in early 2013.

The wireless display portion of the WiDi driver would still continue to work even with the yellow bang.

Lenovo Support Site has the Intel WiDi driver for the IdeaPad P400 which addressed the yellow exclamation mark issue.

Lastly, to enable the touchscreen follow below steps:

Solution 1 -

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. ...
Enter Calibrate in the search box, and then tap or click Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input to open Tablet PC Settings.
Tap or click Setup, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Solution 2 -

Press the Wi... Read more

Hey all, sorry if this is the wrong spot for my post but I'm new around here. Yesterday, my Ideapad's battery malfunctioned when it was around 20%, and when I tried to plug in the ac adapter, it wouldn't charge. Eventually the battery ran down to 0, and now I'm stuck with a dead battery and laptop. Is there anything I can do? I initially thought it was the charger, and I ordered a new one, but even the new charger won't charge it either.

Hi,When I power on/restart my laptop, on login screen the passowrd box automatically get filled by weird characters.I am able to login using my password after clearing the password box, but this is an annoying problem. This problem was there when I bought this laptop, but I ignored at that time. Once my system is up and running, I dont have this weird character problem in any of the application, so I am very much sure that none of the keys are in pressed state in my keyboard. Using "Eye Symbol" in the password box I am able able to see these weird characters, these are "+" characters. But why on startup the password box gets filled by this character automatically? is there any solution to this problem?

Hey all, When trying to start up my Lenovo Ideapad y410p, the Lenovo logo appears, and I can hear the fan begin to run. But the screen never changes. I've tried booting it with just the battery in, and without the battery and just the charger but no change. What should I try to do?

Hi, I have this brand new z500 and it's been useless couple of months, today I take it back in use and of course plug in charger. After about half an hour I'll start the computer and battery icon says 28% and charging, usually icon is animated but now nothing happens. Also when I unplug power cord, computer shuts down immediately, same like if  you remove battery. Could the battery has been died during the time computer was unused? Is there any way to bring it back to life, or do I have to send this machine to warranty service?

Answer:ideapad z500 battery charging stuck in 28%

Under Energy Management set the battery setting to "Maximum Battery Life".

I have a z500 (non-touch) that recently had its screen broken. I plan to purchase the LCD part and replace it myself. I was wondering if I could purchase the part(s) for the z500 touch and give myself touchscreen capabilities as well.Is such a solution possible? If so, what  parts might I need to purchase to make such a solution work? Thanks,  -Ben C.

Answer:Replace z500 screen with z500 touch screen?

HiWelcome to the forum and Happy New year!!This in all probabilities won't work.Reason: Touch devices have an extra glass touch layer over the lcd and both the touch and the lcd are distinctively attached to the main circuit/systemboard of the device/laptop/mobile/tablets.So, firstly, your mainboard should atleast have a port to attach a touch glass and secondly, the structure of the laptop should support it too.So, in my opinioin, it is a suicidal move and you should try it.Hope this Helps.Regards

Hi, Basically, my girlfriend's laptop has been acting up for a couple of months now. Every other week, it will just crap out and refuse to start up past the POST screen. When this first happened, I googled to see how I could get her back in and created a recovery disk using the tools provided in Windows 8. Using this, she managed to recover some key files before having to reset the PC (deleting everything but the Windows files). Since then, this problem has persisted despite several attempts to prevent it (using less of the hard disk, turning it off regularly and so on), and we were told at a laptop repair shop that it was most likely the hard disk. Upon hearing this, I ordered her a new Samsung hard drive (2.5 inch, 1tb, 5400rpm) to replace her existing one which seems to be dying/dead. I have two main questions, which are: Was the laptop repair guy correct in his assumption that it was the hard disk which was the issue? If we replace the old hard drive with the new one, can we retain the copy of windows and the various lenovo drivers and utilities it includes? Thanks for your help, A8

Answer:Laptop (ideapad z500 touch) crashes and refuses to boot, needing to be booted from USB

Was the laptop repair guy correct in his assumption that it was the hard disk which was the issue?Answer: Maybe. If we replace the old hard drive with the new one, can we retain the copy of windows and the various lenovo drivers and utilities it includes?     Answer: Lenovo drivers and utilities are in D drive and also in Lenovo's download site. As to the copy of Windows it is                    located in a hidden partition and difficult to copy.

If not my product is still under warranty, any suggestions? Regards,Dhruv

Answer:Z500 Touch - touch screen not working

Hi metryc,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Booting into the Recovery Environment.
(From an OFF state, Press the One key Recovery Button)
Select Recovery.   We are not going to continue the Recovery, Just the Environment.

Once you saw your Mouse pointer, Try your touchscreen.
If that did not work there as well.
I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Team.
