I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been having problems with my ideapad y510p, just as i bought it. After 3 times sent to warranty because the laptop won't charge (either with or without the battery), i found it was the Energy Management software preinstalled that was messing it up. After running a battery calibration (supposedly to improve the battery life), it discharges the battery and, supposedly, without shuting down, it should charge it again, but instead, without warning, turns off and restarts as if i had disconected the lap. all's well until i disconnect the laptop to take it to work. now (and the last 2 times) it won't receive any power. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN FIX THIS? i want to check here before sending it to warranty service, as i've been receiving an awful service, and it seems to be a problem with software (lenovo's software), it probably won't be covered (that sucks, guys, it's your software, but anyways). please, please, a little help, i paid good money for a laptop that's been used like 2 weeks in 4 months

For nearly two years I was running only Ubuntu on my Lenovo G570 laptop. Recently I changed to dual-boot with arrival of Windows 8.1 Preview. With that I installed some Lenovo provided applications, prominent one being Energy Management. After few days of application usage, Energy Management suggested that I use 'Optimized Battery Health', based on my usage pattern, to extend battery life. After making this change the battery never charges beyond 50% (I'm always connected to a power source). My understanding is, the application controls charging and maintains constant battery level. Whenever I boot into Ubuntu the same situation (battery never crosses 50%) prevails there. What puzzles me is, there is no Lenovo application on Ubuntu. For that matter I don't use any battery manager on Ubuntu other than the default one. On Ubuntu the battery status shows as 'charging' but the percentage does not change. On Windows the status is 'Not Charging'. I'm now concerned about the long term implications of using this option on Windows and the resulting impact on battery when I switch to Ubuntu now and then. How does a Windows based rule apply on Ubuntu? Does Lenovo Energy Management write something to battery firmware (I don't know about firmware, just a wild guess). What will happen if I remove Windows altogether from my machine?

Answer:Lenovo Energy Management - Battery life on dual boot

Hi Chethan,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I'm sorry that there is issue with Battery status, charging and backup as well, the issue has occured as there is Dual Operating Systems in the computer.

Even if the windows 8 is selected and working on the Kernel files are programmed to check the hardware in the computer, as you have mentioned that the Lenovo Energy Management controls the battery performance and backup by tuning the cells according to the applications and usage of the computer, which is true and can perform to its best when there is one OS(Operaing System) in the computer.

Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 7
Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 8

I would suggest to install only one OS in the computer to avoid further issues and conflicts.

NOTE: Lenovo does not recommend or support multi boot OS as the computer & Lenovo Energy Management is programmed to perform on Windows platform to provide the best performace of the G570 as per OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

Please do give this a try and let us know.

Best RegardsShiva Kumar

Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

I was thinking does Lenovo Energy managment plays a role when plugged in (I think it does though) in performance and quality? And if it does what is the best option for gaming. I got the Y580 btw.

Answer:Lenovo Energy managment

The best option would be maximum performance for gaming. Its the rocket in the energy management interface.

Hi I recently bought Lenovo Ideapad 110 laptop and I got very disappointed by the battery life, it doesn't even last an hour (i use it no more than 2 weeks)Now, this doesn't seem right to me, but I don't know what the problem could be. I am using my laptop for long hours since I need it for my work and I'm constantly charging and discharging it because it has a non-removable battery and I don't want to keep it plugged in all the time.Any input about where to go from here would be most welcome. Thank you in advance

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 110 battery life

Hi igeto,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As seen from common reviews, battery for the model is not one of the strong points, although should be able to do up to 3 Hours Video Playback. On low setting gameplay, the benchmark was able to perform 1-hour gameplay.

Check if you got the updated BIOS from the support site with updated power management and Lenovo utility.
Perform manual battery gauge calibration by using the machine until 10-20% charge then have it fully charged and restart. Change brightness to maybe 80% (this would help the battery usage) and see how long you would be able to use it for your normal use.

If you have the same problem, call in technical support for their recommendation.

Update us how things go.

Regards

Ever since buying this laptop I've had the battery set to "optimize battery health", which keeps the level at 50%. But since last week or so I noticed the level suddenly dropped to about 38%, then 37, 36, etc, a bit everyday. It still says "plugged in and charging", but the icon doesn't have the charging animation, nor does the % go up. I called tech support earlier and he said to unplug the charger, then reinstall the Lenovo power management software. This didn't really solve the problem, in fact all it did was lower the % down to 25% now, because all this time the charger was disconnected running on battery power. I think basically the battery is not really charging even though it says it's charging, or it could be just not calibrated correctly? Anyone know what I should do, besides buy a new battery since that's the last resort? The laptop is roughly 1.5 yrs old, never had this problem until last week. I heard about the battery gauge reset method, but people warn that it could also damage the battery.

hi KevinLQ,

Thanks for Posting.

Have the computer boot to the BIOS mode.
Press F2 when you turn on the computer
While in BIOs Mode unplug the AC adapter and let it Drain until it shudown on its own.

This will Drain the Battery from any charge and will count the battery as 0
Now Recharge the battery and check if it will be read by WIndows correctly.

If this shows the same problem, You can have the system Serviced via Warranty.

I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

Hey! I recently bought an Ideapad Y510P from an American seller on eBay, despite myself being located in Australia.  My issue is that, my battery will not charge unless I insert the battery, while my laptop is booting up. So basically it won't charge if:I power on my laptop with the battery insertedIf I remove and reconnect the charger adapter while it's runningI'm not too sure why it is doing this, all I really know, is that is started after I ran a battery calibration using Lenovo Energy Management.  I've contacted Lenovo Australia, but they said that they can't assist me because the laptop was manufactured in the United States, so they keep directing me to the Lenovo US technical support.BUT I've called the technical support in the United States about 3 times now. Two of which resulted in the technical support officer ending the call abruptly. I also called Lenovo Indonesia, and I got hung up on again. I'm not a mean person at all, nor am I showing any impatience/anger. So I'm a little annoyed about that. The first guy who help me from the United States, told me to remove Lenovo Energy Management and he told me to also uninstall an ACPI battery in the Device manager. None of which actually helped But at least he tried to help me! I really want this fixed because I need my laptop to complete Uni coursework.  I'm also in love with it . Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2 14 for school and general purposes. In general I really like it, but I have noticed that the battery life is not like the 9h (or was it 6h?) that were advertised. I should also note that this is with power saving mode on. Have I gotten a bad battery or is this basically what I can expect with this product?  You can see the specs in this link: http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?e=3019464

Nvidia SLI does not support optimus so you're always running the Nvidia card whether plugged in or using the battery. Sad to say there's no way for Nvidia SLI and Nvidia Optimus to coexist. Nvidia GPUs are optimized for raw performance rather than efficiency so it's completely reasonable to have 1 hour battery life. If you want to get 4 hours of battery life, you have to remove the ultrabay Nvidia GPU. Then remove the Nvidia drivers. Download Intel HD drivers from Intel download center and install it. Then install the Nvidia drivers after you installed the Intel HD drivers. By then, Nvidia Optimus will work and the Intel HD graphics will be used when running on the battery. You can still play 3D games with Nvidia Optimus since the 750M will be activated when the game requires directx. Note that if you decided to put the 2nd 750M back again while you have the Optimus setup, the Intel GPU will be automatically disabled and you'll be running Nvidia SLI again. Also note that disabling SLI in Nvidia Control panel will not enable Nvidia Optimus. You have to physically remove the 2nd GPU for Optimus to work. Sadly, when it comes to performance, you have to sacrifice efficiency just like automobiles. Hope this helps.

My friend and I both own Y510p laptops, but for some reason his battery will last an entire game of use and (very) light gaming, e.g. Binding of Isaac. However, mine only lasts about three hours on the Power Saver setting. I've even removed my SLI GPU to test it and un-overclocked my CPU/GPU.  Anyway, it's not a pressing issue, but I just thought it was interesting; if anybody knows why, I'd love to be enlightened.

A truer test would be to swap batteries and see how long your friend's battery lasts in your machine.  If you get the same battery life as your friend then that would rule out a power, advance power settings or hardware  difference between the two laptops.

As for the decreased life of your battery, it may simply be that your battery is degrading faster than your friends.  Also different uses of the laptop and different charging schemes would make a difference in the battery's health.  Check out the link below for a free program called HWMonitor.  One of the features of the program will check out the battery wear.  See if the wear is the same on the two batteries.  HWMonitor comes in two different downloads.  The Zip file is the portable version which can be copied onto a flash drive and then use between the two laptops for comparison.

Hi, I have had my T430 since August of 2012 at the start of college. I am currently running windows 8.1 pro and I recently just noticed my battery life issues and after installing lenovo settings I discovered that my battery's capacity is at 27% of the original capacity. The battery life is really bad, e.g. it says 15 minutes remaining at 25% on POWER SAVER mode.  I have google this and it said to "reset my battery" but unfortunately 8.1 Lenovo power manager doesn't have that feature.  I am just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what to do?  Will I just have to get a new battery?

Answer:Lenovo T430 Battery Life 1+ hour on life saver

you would have to have a pre-Windows 8 OS to gain that crucial battery reset function. This is one reason why i dislike running Win 8 on ThinkPad.

So... I was trying to search that problem (many of us has troubleshooting with battery) but I think I must write that post.First: since month I have error from my Windows 7 (64bit, professional edition): Consider replacing battery, bla bla bla... Is that a problem with my drivers or witch 3 years old battery?Secondly: to that trouble i can add that yesterday my charger has broken... So today i was testing my laptop with other searching some troubles on main board. Tension was not stable until battery was fully charged. Then after 5 minutes (time needs to drop battery level under 60% from 93%) i was again not stable (+/- 1A). So I think it is problem with battery, I'm right?Last thing: is there any software to format battery for Lenovo Y530? I mean I want to try repair my battery if this is possible. I wanted to format battery from my BIOS but there is any option to do this. Is there any software which allows to format battery manually without BIOS? Or just I must upgrade BIOS? Can I get link to download new version of BIOS? Thanks for reply  Ahh I forgot...Is that important in which order I'm trying to install drivers? I bought computer with Vista later I bought Windows 7 and then was troubles with battery and others... So that is important which driver I install first (I mean: "first you must install that driver then that later this and on the end that one")?

Hi, I have updated my laptop z500 with the latest energy management software from lenovo. I am mostly using my laptop on AC charging. I have read in some forum topics that we can lock the battery at 60 percent charge and then use the laptop on AC power. I am not able to find the options in my version. Please, let me know the steps to do so. By the was I am running on Win 8.

Answer:Ideapad z500 energy management how to lock battery at 60 % charge

hi danish_jpr,

Can you try to:
1. Open Lenovo Energy Management on the system notification area and set battery status to "Optimized Battery Health"
 Link to picture

2. Use the computer just with the battery and drain it up to 10% or until the system goes to sleep/hibernate. When the unit turns off or reaches 10% battery life, plug the AC adapter and observe the battery status (the charge should now be halted at 60%).

Hi, I just purchased a brand-new lenovo Z470. As I almost always keep my laptopplugged into the power supply; I set the laptop to the ?optimize for batteryhealth option? so that the computer only charges to 50% when plugged in. It seemed to work fine, however when I used the laptop on battery mode thelaptop automatically changed the setting back to ?optimize for battery runtime?and upon plugging the power back in, the computer did not revert to my ?health?setting & charged to 100 % ! Why won?t the computer remember my settings ? (Also, is it possible for thecomputer to automatically change between power plans ie. high performance whenplugged in, but power saver when on battery) ? Thanks

Hi, i Have recently updated my Ideapad Z580 to windows 8. While using the power management application i came to know it misses out the modes as it was in Windows 7. Its does not even shows up the visual display when you press the Thermal management key.  I have to go to the hidden icon tab to select the Energy management, wherein there are options which i cannot understand what are they use for like Intelligent power saver. The options provided are very different from the ones provided in the Windows 7 version. Also, the function keys & other keypad layout got changed when i upgraded to Windows 8. Like the function for turning the Wi-Fi & bluetooth in windows 7 got changed. To write special character (@) changed. its now typing (") when upgraded to windows 8. Function key feature (Fn+F4) not working in windows 8. Can anyone tell me is the windows 8 Energy management application better than the windows 7 one or viceversa. if not, is lenovo trying to upgrade the features in the windows 8 version of energy management application & other applications like in the windows 7 ones.   Thank you.

Question: Energy managment

Hello I've got newest version of Energy managment and the problem is I can't set it to highest performance ( dynamic system ). I've read some forums and the solution they suggested was installing Energy Cut, but the problem is I can't find it anywhere. Also when I check in energy plans in control panel there is only 2 standard plans - one balanced and one for high performance. Also I can't use energy saving plan in Energy managment.  My model is Y580 with GeForce 660M

Answer:Energy managment

Please could you specify your os? If i understand you correctly you need to go to battery settings and select the maximize option.

Answer:Ideapad Y510p 170W battery

hi MrDanV8,

IMO, it's fine to use the 170W adapter even if you don't have the secondary graphics adapter inserted (via ultrabay) as the machine will not fully utilize all that power.

If you have the GT750m working on full load, the system will most likely use approx.120W only (the GT750m has a 50W TDP) --the remaining power will then act as a reserve.

I just signed up with the US Lenovo Support site.  Under the Diagnose & Fix tab, I was offered a link to the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (LTT). On my old Think system laptop, I used to have a similar toolbox.  I downloaded the toolbox, and installed on my Y470. It installed correctly, and all the options work great. I especially love all of the system information it generates. LTT covers much more on the hardware configuration in my Y470, than any other tool I?ve seen.   I only have one question about the Power Manager Feature in the toolbox. I haven?t installed that program yet.  If I install the toolbox Power Manager Program, will it work ?nice? with the Lenovo Energy Management software that I already have in the Y470?  Will both programs be able to co-exist without generating any problems? I don?t want to endanger, or disable my existing Y470 Energy Management system. It works fine. I just want to see what capability, the LTT Power Manager, offers me. Thank you, DragonRider

Answer:Lenovo Energy Manager - plugged in / not charging message on IdeaPad Y50-70

Hi Prachiparekh,

Welcome to Lenovo forums.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system plugged In not charging message in your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.

This might be due to energy management  so pls do check that under the battery menu in LEM, IT IS SET TO 'MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE' to enable charging to 100%, not Optimised battery health as this will allow your battery to have a longer lifespan.

Also try to reinstall the energy management driver and check for the issue.

Click here for the power management, if the operating system is windows 7.

Click here for the power management, if the operating system is windows 8.1.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Hi everyone, I bought my V570 on February 2012 and I think it is an awesome machine. However, I have some trouble with my battery. It is supposed to give around 4 hours, 30 minutes of power but this is no longer the case. When completely charged, the computer tells me that I have around 3 hours of energy. This is not true. I can use it maybe a max of 2 hours before I have to plug it in again (all of this in Energy Star power plan) . What's more, yesterday I saw that it skipped from around 45% to 20% of energy in 2 seconds... What is really weird is that whenever I check for the battery ware it says that it is 0%, and that my current capacity (40130 mWh) exceeds my total capacity (38880 mWh). What is going on with my battery? Is over two years of usage enough and should I get a replacement?  Thanks

Hello everyone, I've had myY510P SLI for about 6 months now and I mainly use it on a desk so I rarely use my battery in it unless I am traveling. I never had any issues with the battery until last night. I decided to put the battery in, but I noticed that Windows said "plugged in, not charging" and showed a blank battery. It didn't report battery statistics or anything. I tried messing around with Lenovo Energy Management but that didn't do anything. The battery status indicator LED has also been flashing red non-stop. This would be a huge dissapointment to me if I need to replace the battery that has less than 30 charge cycles on it. But I'd rather it be a battery issue than a problem with the motherboard. My Y510p has a i7 4700MQ, 750M SLI, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD  and is running Windows 8.1 with mostly all bloatware removed. I even tried the method where you start up with no battery and uninstall it from the Device Manager and resetting the BIOS. Both didn't do anything for me. All help is appreciated, thank you!

First try doing a reset of the BIOS. This can be useful in some situations to resolve hardware conflicts. Here's how......1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If that didn't work then uninstall the Lenovo Energy Management driver, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy of the Energy Management driver.

If the problem still continues, I suggest that you contact Lenovo Support for further warranty service.  Some folks that have had a similiar problem reported here that Lenovo Support sent them a replacement battery.   You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

Hi all... I registered here to share my experience with you and try to get an idea if I'm the only one experiencing what I feel is short battery life on my U410. I bought the machine 2 days ago through Costco.com (best price, even with shipping and tax, that I could find for the u410 with 750gb HDD, 32gb SSD, I5 Ivy Bridge). All marketing and product descriptions on lenovo.com, amazon, costco, etc. claim 8-9 hours of useful batery life. On a full charge, I'm getting about 2.5 hours. The battery life was 80% of the selling point for me... I could have bought a beefier laptop with twice the video ram and a quad core processor for the same price and got a couple hours of battery life. I wanted to be able to work most of the day with the freedom of being cordless. I'd love to hear what other people are getting on similar models. I could understand if 9 hours really meant 6 hours in real-world use, but not 2.5 hours for an Ultrabook. In the meantime, costco is sending me a new one to try, so I'll try to report back if the new unit is any different. By the way, the idiot at lenovo tech support told me that 2.5 hours is normal, and 9 hours is if the computer is idle. That doesn't explain the screenshot below, which is the computer, freshly booted, after a night on the charger. Note that it's also on power saver mode.

Answer:ideapad u410 battery life experience

HI, i am also experiencing the same problem as you but in fact i think mine is worst. WIthin 2 hours if can drop from 100% to 10% with just videos and songs

According to the s205's datasheet it can last approximately 5 hours, which seems strange to me, because AMD Fusion is pretty power-efficient and other E350-powered devices boast up to 8 hours on one charge with the same battery capacity. I do like this laptop's design and features, but battery life is very important to me, so could please s205 owners describe  battery life and usage conditions of their laptops?

Answer:How good is IdeaPad s205 battery life?

it depends on performance and/or power management. if you select " super energy saver" it's even possible more than 6 hours.

I just bought the laptop 4 days ago and found the battery drained very quickly.  My old lenovo had a battery life of about 3-4 hours and I was shocked to see this new one only last about 90 minutes.  I wonder if it has a defective battery or is this the new standard.

Hello.  I purchased an Ideapad P400 about a year ago.  I have noticed over the course of a few months that the batter life has become increasingly shorter.  It can now only hold a charge for about 2 hours.  Is this normal?  Do I have any options for increasing the battery life?  The battery is enclosed in the unit, thus I don't know that I can easily replace it.  Help?

Answer:Ideapad P400 Short Battery Life

hi nethersprings,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to check, along with the short battery life, do you also notice that the battery is discharging too fast? The advertised battery life of the P400 is 5hrs (unit is idle and on power saver mode - battery is charged at 100% until the computer goes to sleep). Depending on the process that you're running, 2hrs would seem to be normal if you play movies around that 2hrs.

To check the battery, can you try and run following:
1. Download and install BatteryCare and post the detailed info on the battery.
   - Sample info

2. Open an elevated Command Prompt (press the Windows key? +X and choose Command Prompt (Admin))
   - on the command prompt box, type powercfg -energy
   - once It generates the energy-report.html file, move this to your desktop and double click it. It will help if you can post a screenshot of the report or upload it (eg. Dropbox) so we can check if there's an app or a driver running on the background that's eating up power and making the battery drain much faster.

Hi.
I bought an Ideapad 100S-14IBR in september 2016 and its battery has been greatly reduced since last year. I could stay unplugged at least 5 hours with internet switched on or 8 hours with everything switched off and low luminosity. Now I struggle to get more than 3 hours with everything off. I tried recalibrating the battery, hasn't proved useful.

I haven't abused the battery, I use my computer on average less than once a day, I don't leave it plugged. On my battery report I have 22 000 mWh out of 33 000 mWH design capacity. This is really annoying since I need to bring this computer to study at school but it can barely made it. Does anyone have an explanation ? Otherwise I would like to know if the warranty (which is still active) covers a battery replacement ?

Thanks

Hello, first I apologize, if my post will have grammars errors, english is not my native language.Well - I have an IdeaPad 700 since a half year. On Monday I noticed, that the time for how long my notebook can run on battery dropped from about 4 to 2 hours. Plus I experience from the same moment some display blinking now and then (it blinks 3x times a day - for a second there is a black screen). I looked up the battery capacity in Lenovo Settings and it says, that there is 39 Wh form 45 left...which doesnt sound for me, like it should cut the time to a half. I did a malware scan, i looked in my power plan and in the battery consumpting Software and I found nothing suspicious...One think is strange - when the battery goes to ca. 30% the remaining time starts to improve. Like in was 1:15 time remaining when on 60%, when it goes to 30% i get 1:30 ??? Im starting to think, that it has something to do with the last big Windows update, that happened on September 30. but im not sure, if i wouldnt not notice the problem earlier. Or is my battery just bad? Thanks for answers.

I have attached my laptop to a Dell P2416 monitor which has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440. But when I connect the monitor with HDMI cable, the max resolution I am getting is 2048 x 1152. The HDMI cable I am using is a high quality 4K resolution supported cable. So, is the display unable to support resolution higher than 1152p?I also updated my Intel graphics driver to the latest release. No luck.

Looking into buying the Lenovo Ideapad 510s, I see "Up to 8GB" listed as supported memory. However, I've done some research and some Lenovo laptops, while they also only support 8GB of memory officially, can be and have been safely upgraded to 16 GB of RAM. My question is: Is this true of the 510s? The CPU specifications page from Intel for the 6200U/6500U both say 16 GB is no problem, and Crucial even has a 16GB dimm listed as "guaranteed compatible" for this model--I'm not sure, though, if this means it will work but only recognize 8 GB or if 16 GB is truly Ok. Is there any reason 16 GB could not be used? Perhaps some motherboard memory controller limitation? I would love to have some input on this before deciding on whether or not to purchase this laptop. Thanks!

Hi I recently bought an Ideapad Y700-14isk. The model is 80NU000WUS. I am having issues with the battery. Since the first day the battery life has been very poor. While using windows 10 power saving settings, and also graphics options set to power save, I am only able to get 1.5-2 hours when running minimal programs and no games. I just use chrome to study but the battery life is incredibly poor. Has anyone else been having issues with the 14" version? I was wondering if the battery is upgradeable to a higher capacity, and where I could possibly buy one from. I understand its a gaming laptop but 2 hours on a full charge while studying power point slides in the chrome browser is just too poor for me. Please let me know if any of you have this issue, and if there is a way to buy a higher capacity battery. Any input helps. Thanks in advance.  I spoke to tech support twice and both times they seemed very clueless. Not helpful at all.

Hi,I am interested in the Y510P SLI (5938 9550) Dual SLI for Malaysia.I'd like to know more information about the RAM on the laptop. Is it a DDR3L (1.35V) or DDR3 (1.5V). Some of the resellers in Malaysia told me that its DDR3 (1.5V). However, as the laptop is using a Haswell chip, I believe it should be 1.35V. The Lenovo Malaysia website does not show any information about this. Heck, it doesn't show any information about the Y510P at all.Anyone can help? Thanks

Since i have discovered the y510p, i have been amazed by it's prize, design and performance.  But there has been this one little problem, it doesn't have a touchscreen...Recently, I have seen a couple of rumors that a touchscreen version was coming out but i was never sure. Until i came to this link. I justed wanted to ask if anyone knew if Lenovo had actually announced the official release or not and when they were planning to annouce it. Thank you, Arthur

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad y510p with a touchscreen ???

Other than the word "touchscreen" within the link itself there's no mention of the touchscreen on this website.

Hello guys,  I bought my Lenovo y510p for months ago, tried with several SLI games to run those. They all crash, and returns the screendriver has stopped working. I have the y510p with GT 755m sli. Any solution for this?? If I run without SLI all is working good.

Answer:Lenovo ideapad Y510p SLI Crashing

Have you updated your video card drivers with the latest drivers from the Nvidia website?  Have you monitored your GPU temperatures to see if either of your GPUs are overheating?  You can try using GPU-Z to monitor your GPUs while gaming.

Hi Just got the y510p laptop and am trying to install Ubuntu so I have this bootable DVD and I wanted to try Ubuntu before installing as usual but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On boot menu options there is only EFI and some kind of network options but no dvd.I tried following instructions here but no matter how many times I press F1 during startup, I can't get to boot menu and windows starts directly:http://support.lenovo.com/en_CY/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT036814Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is ubuntu 13.10 supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot.I don't understand why there is no option to reorder boot devices like on all my older PCs. I manage to get BIOS setup pressing restart and shift and then selecting UEFI firware settings and I do get to bios setups but again no way to find the option for booting on a dvd. Any advice? Thanks

Answer:lenovo ideapad y510p boot on CD/DVD

to get the computer to boot from a cd, turn the computer on and press f12 as soon as the lenovo icon appears (if you are obsessive it would not hurt to press it over and over again) this will eventually cause the boot menue to open up. you will probably see a few different options, but if you have a useable boot disk in your optical drive, one of the options will have DVD in the name. pick this one. Once the disk boots up you will probably get a black screen. if this happens, turn up your screen brightness by pressing fn + the up arrow key. you should see the ubuntu loading bar after that. good luck
