I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. Tonight I had a problem with my laptop. It was in sleeping mode, and when I open the lid there were no mouse function and no touch screen function. So the only thing I could do was to press the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off, but it didn't completely, because the screen turn off, but the power button light is blinking just like when it is on sleep mode, and I'm not sure if the hard drive light was on, off or blinking before this, but now is blinking. I press the power button and nothing happen, I press it for 3 seconds and nothing happen. I even did the HDMI connection to another monitor, but both monitors don't show anything, not even recognize that something is connected to the HDMI port in the new monitor. There is no sound, nothing, just the 2 blinking lights. What should I do? Thanks PS: I'm not sure if it's Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit. It was upgraded from Windows 8

I have a dell dimension 8100 that has been powerleaped from a 1.7 to a 2.5.  I recently upgraded the RAM from 256 PC 800 RDRam to 512.  I also have upgraded from a GEForce 2 Ultra to a GEForce 4 Ti4600 quite a while back.  Everything has been working great until the last week or so and I am at a loss here.  I used to leave my computer on all the time 24/7 with reboots here and there when I needed to.  Well, after I lost the fan on my Video card I started to turn it off.  After about six months of this it decided that it doesn't like to boot up after a night or two of being off.  What happens is when I push the power button you can hear it power on but the monitor says there is no signal being sent from the computer.  The other weird thing is that the power button light is amber instead of green.  I turned off the computer and unplugged all power from it and tried again.  This time it booted up.  The last time it happened, unplugging it didn't even work so I pulled the case apart and cleaned it out.  I yanked the Video card out of the AGP slot and reseated it and turned it on and presto it fired right up.  What gets me is when I leave it on and have to reboot it, everything works fine.  It only acts up when I leave it off over night or longer and then start it.  Could this be the battery on the motherboard?  My clock doesn't seem to be losing time in windows or anything.  If a... Answer:Dimension 8100 not booting up and has amber light on power button. Please HELP?

If the power button is blinking amber, it is probable that the power supply needs to be replaced. If the power button is solid amber, the power supply should be fine. At this stage of bootup, memory has not yet been tested, and is not a factor in this type of failure. Check the CPU and ensure that it is properly seated.

Hi everyone - I have 2 issues with my y510p (it's a little less than a year old, so with the warranty coming up I figured I may want to get some second opinions). The first is that recently, say within the last month or so, it has developed the habit of rebooting for no discernible reason and with no warning.  It will just snap to a black screen instantly.I've done a full refrresh of my Windows 8. I've run all the validation tools I could think of (hard drive/mem/OS files/etc.) There's nothing particular evident in my event viewer except for this in my system errors:'The description for Event ID 0 from source GeneStor cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event:GeneStor driver startedGeneStor driver started (2)'I believe they are connected because before the crashes started to occur the Onekey Recovery application would start randomly opening multiple instances of itself.' As an addendum, it also appear that I am getting kernal-power event 41The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. So as a heads up for anyone else that might be encountering either of these issues - I called support just now and I'm sending it off for repair.  Bit of a bummer since this is my work machine (thankfully I have my t500 from college still kicking around to use in the meantime). Tech support was really nice and quick. Didn't make me walk through the diagnostics/troubleshooting I'd already done which is refreshing. Hopefully this is just a fluke because apart from these issues I really like this machine (and as I said, my thinkpad is rock solid.)

Went to turn on my Lenovo Ideapad Y410p laptop and nothing happened! No led lights with power source on and battery in. When I used it two days ago, I ran AVG and spy-bot and everything was fine. Used it a little bit and turned it off. Now nothing??? Did the power/battery disconnect with holding power button for 30 seconds... nothing. Both batteries 9 cell and 6 cell had full charge, tried my other Lenovo charger... no go. A surge couldn't have happened as the laptop is plugged into same strip as my other lenovo laptop is and that one is working fine.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y410p won't power on... No power light?

Hi jack61 ,

Greetings.

We now know, power drain failed. No LED error codes , No beep codes
No activity lights even with battery charging led.
Not turning on even with known good charged batteries.
No power even with known good ac adapter.

What we can try:
Try plugging it directly on the wall and press novo key (number 1 page 7) to turn it on instead.
Check if the power port shows any signs of burnt / damage / looseness .
Press Novo key using a charged battery.
Remove battery, harddrive , memory and other accessories and plug directly with a known working adapter and or with a charged battery ( it should at least beep).

If all fails , you can have it checked for the motherboard issue with a technician (checking on the internals /cleaning or reseating parts connected to the board / applying thermal paste (for processor isolation) / checking on dc in board and port).

You can check for your warranty here and call in tech support for service.

Hi,I had my lenovo for a few months now and it was running fine until this problem started to appear. After I put my computer to sleep/hibernate/shutdown at night, the next morning it failed to power up. When i press the power button, the power icon lighted up also as the keybaord but then both got shut down after 3 seconds or less. I tried to press the Bios key, remove battery, hard reset but nothing works. The same thing keeps on happening again, the light turned on for 2 seconds then it turned off. What is wrong with my laptop? Do i need to change my motherboard? I did the lenovo hardware check and it says nothing is wrong with my motherboard or hard drive. Please help!!Thank you

Answer:Lenovo ideapad y510p failed to power up after sleep/shutdown

hi mikebui1204,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

When the machine turns ON, it undergoes hardware functionality check via POST. If the machine suddenly turns off then it's likely that there's a hardware that's either not properly initializing or is malfunctioning.

In addition to the motherboard and HDD diagnostics that you already ran, can you consider running a test  on the GPU , memory, and CPU.
- Lenovo Diagnostic Solutions (see Quick Tests)

Also, if you have the 2nd GPU via ultrabay, try to temporarily remove it and observe.

I have a LeNovo IdeaPad 100-15IBD, Model Name 80QQ, purchased Feb 2015. When I try to power it up, the power light comes on and the battery light comes on, but there's no fan and the screen is black. If I press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (with the lights on) the lights go off again, which I presume is doing a hard power down. I have tried removing the AC power and the battery (which involves taking the keyboard off first!), leaving it an hour, pressing and holding the power button several times for 20 seconds each, then plugging the battery and AC back in and powering up - but the symptoms are unchanged - power light, battery light, no fan, black screen. I have tried the "One Key Recovery" procedure using the Novo key - this produces the same symptoms as a normal power up - power light and battery light come on, but no screen and no fan. Any suggestions? I'm still in warranty so worst case I can send it off to get it fixed, but I'd rather find a way to fix it myself and not have to send it away.

The light of the power button doesn't work, the button works perfect and all the other buttons(touch buttons) work good and the lights are on when I start the laptop but the light of the power button is off. Where is the problem? It could be the band of the power button light? PS: Sorry for my english, I hope you will understand my message

Answer:Lenovo y570 power button light problem

hi Stefy333,

Welcome to the Forums.

From your description, it looks like there's a problem with the Sensor Board (this is the area where power and touch buttons are located).

You can try to reseat the sensor board to isolate any possibliity of a loose connection but if this doesn't work, you may need to replace this part.

Now the laptop is not turning on and whenever I insert the charger into the laptop the LED of the charger and POWER button starts blinking which was not the case when it worked well. I have checked the charger with a multimeter and it is fine. Its a Laptop of Just 1 month old...I dont know what to do...i tried every thing like checking if its in sleep mode etc...please help me...

hi sunil186,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery
2. Press and hold the power button for 30secs then plug-in the AC adapter or the battery and observe.

If the computer still doesn't turn ON, I recommend that you contact lenovo and report the issue as the motherboard is most likely malfunctioning.

My laptop was working fine yesterday, charging and powering on an off normally. It updated without my telling it to. When it was complete (since it said don't turn computer off until finished) I either just shut the lid or I shut it down when it was done. This morning when I wake up and try to turn it on it won't power up. Then I noticed that the power button was blinking, like it is in sleep mode, tried pressing 10 times then holding down power button for 30-60 seconds and still nothing. Next I saw that although the power is plugged in the battery light won't come on. I don't know if it is charging (it could be dead). I tried a bunch of different outlets and that isn't the issue. I also listened to the computer and there is a very soft high pichted noise that dissapears if you unplug it, and that when you hit the power button and it starts blinking, the sounds changes fom high to lower pitch and back again over and over. But no other sounds or fans kicking on or drive spinning. I am pretty sure it isn't the power cord but have no way of checking. And I can't remove the battery without voiding the warrenty. Anyone have any advice, besides calling to have Lenovo send me a box to send it back to Lenovo since it is only 4 months old and still under warrenty?

Answer:Lenovo Edge 15 laptop 80K9 battery light won't come on, power light blinks

Suggest you eliminate problem 1. Do you have spare power supply unit? Worth trying that first. Your battery may be in sleep mode and won't wake up as battery is drained and hence needs charging. 2. You can go to local retailer and suspect a good one (John Lewis) will let you charge it for 30 mins. Ideally go back to person you bought it from. 3. Once you are in use restore to go back to last working point. I have to telll you the support from Lenovo and Microsoft was very very very disappointing. I tried to even return the PC and swop for HP as mine is only 2 months old. However, the answer was send back to Lenovo. Hope you find a way to get it charged

So several months ago my laptop started to have a problem where periodically the power light would begin flashing as well as the charging light. The power light would blink a while color that it normally is and the charging light would blink orange. When this happens the battery will stop charging, but will occasionally resume if I unplug and replug the power. I don't think this is a battery related problem because if I try to boot up my latpop without the battery in, it will get half way through then it will just shut off. I should note that when the battery is plugged in I have the flashing light problem during start up but it will usually be fixed with unplugging and replugging the power cord a time or two. This is a really frustrating problem and really limits what I can use my laptop for these days and I'd like to see if it's something that can be fixed at a reasonable cost.

Hi, yesterday my Lenovo Ideapad Y510p wouldn't turn on.  It was working fine in the afternoon, but when I tried to turn the laptop on at night, it wouldnt turn on.  The white power button is lit as well as the led lights indicating there is battery and etc.  There is no sound or noise that comes from a normal boot up.  No fans whirring, nothing.  Even the keyboard lights don't turn on nor do I see the lenovo logo or bios.  Nothing happens when I tried to turn it on except for the power button lighting up (it stays lit). I've tried using the novo button as well as holding the power button for 30/60 seconds wth the battery and charger unplugged, but none of it works.  Any help? Thanks in advance.

Hello people, an hour ago I put my Lenovo 510p into energy save mode. When I tried to reactivate the laptop nothing happens. I removed the batterie and the power cord, put everything back in and hit the power button: The power button and the "on" LED on the front shines (continuously) but nothing else happens. No booting sound, no keyboard LED, no nothing. Removing the battery and power cord, pressing power button 10 times in a 1 second interval, then holding it for 30 seconds hasnt helped. Any tips what I can do furthermore? GreetingsDix

Last night I fell asleep watching a movie on my computer with it plugged in and I woke up, went to turn it on and it turns on but stays on either a fully black screen or a backlit black screen with no text. Sometimes when I turn it off again the power button will blink and so will the led indicator for power at the front. Any suggested problems/fixes?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad y500 power button blinking

I think your computer is in sleep mode when you have the blinking power and the power led monitor. Press the power button for 2-3 sec to fully shutdown the unit. Wait for a few minutes to turn it back on. If its back to normal, you may have to tweak a little the power option and the "what the power button does..." option.

I've been having problems with my ideapad y510p, just as i bought it. After 3 times sent to warranty because the laptop won't charge (either with or without the battery), i found it was the Energy Management software preinstalled that was messing it up. After running a battery calibration (supposedly to improve the battery life), it discharges the battery and, supposedly, without shuting down, it should charge it again, but instead, without warning, turns off and restarts as if i had disconected the lap. all's well until i disconnect the laptop to take it to work. now (and the last 2 times) it won't receive any power. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN FIX THIS? i want to check here before sending it to warranty service, as i've been receiving an awful service, and it seems to be a problem with software (lenovo's software), it probably won't be covered (that sucks, guys, it's your software, but anyways). please, please, a little help, i paid good money for a laptop that's been used like 2 weeks in 4 months

Sorry to hear of your problem.  What model do you have ?

Try clearing the CMOS to see if that will resolve the start up problem.  Just do this....
1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. (If your model has a removable battery, not an internal one)3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

Hi guys well I just hope someone with some electronics knowledge in repairing notebooks would help me out in here.
I got a sager 5680 lappy, and when I plug the lap on AC power without the battery I turn on the unit and instantly goes off, ( I hear a low sparky noise like some sort of short circuit, when this happens the psu light dimms from rock solid ) .
Now if you leave the unit with the battery charging you may be lucky and the battery will charge and the only way the unit works is with the battery on it's bay, as soon as you remove the battery boom unit shuts off.

The Unit does work but only when you plug in a battery and when it charges if you leave it dunno a couple of nights never gets solid green

What I did :
==================

- Could the PSU be bad not throwing enough amps ? even if it shows voltage
on digital meter

- This lap has a separate voltage daughtercard for the battery I removed it when diagnosing this card goes
plugged onto the mainboard and here the battery gets plugged.

- Measured PSU voltage it's working fine 20volts DC

- Checked SMD fuse on motherboard , fine

- Dissasembled the entire unit ripped everything off that might me faulty

- I've read the AC plug sometimes get's broken and I retouched the solder points, once I did this, by miracle the unit started without the battery plugged on. But guess what after I assembled the unit then again , when on AC power alone turned on , and then went off . So I don... Read more

The power adapters and the power sockets have an extremely high failure rate in the Sager 5680 laptop. We have seen eight of them in our shop with identical symptoms. While still under warranty, Sager replaced those without a question.

The problem appears to be where the power meets the motherboard. New parts would need to be re-soldered into the system... expensive because it is very time consuming.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you. Working units are available on eBay, if you want to trace the problem between a working model and a failed one.

Hello everyone Got my Yoga 13 back in mid December, and so far I have been really happy with it.However, just recently I noticed a critical problem; When the lid is closed, and the power button is pressed, the laptop wakes itself up. Actually once mine woke up when I might have accidentally pressed the power button when placing it inside the sleeve bag. It stayed in my bag for a good 2 hours and heated the hell out of everything (85 Celsius!!), even some color off of the sleeve burned into the side of the yoga (not too noticeable, didn't really care about it). It survived however, no internal damages or performance reduction as I have thoroughly tested everything. So is this suppose to happen? My brother has a Sony VAIO which is close to 3 years old and has Windows 7 on it, and it also has the power button on the outside inside the round hinges. When I press the power button while lid is closed, it doesn't wake up. How come the Yoga wakes up when the power button is pressed during lid closed? Or do I just have a bad unit? Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 - Wakes up when lid is closed when power button is pressed

Bump! Can anyone atleast try this on their yoga? Also, back at the end of December I also noticed another thing; The charging light (the light which comes on when you plugin the charger) is on all the time regardless of whether the charger is plugged in or not. Someone please help me out.

My laptop has been distrubing since yesterday. Whenever I put in the power chord, the power light and battery light starts flashing together and the laptop does not charge. When I remove the chord, the flashing disapperas. Occassionally, it charges a little before going out again.  I tried using the laptop without the battery. It sometimes does not start and other times, it goes into the first few seconds of booting (the BIOS page) before going out again.  Do you guys know what this code indicates? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just received my replacment AC adaptor. I put my battery back in and plugged the laptop in, but when i push the power button the battery indicator light flashes red four times. There are no lights on. Does this mean my battery is fried. Originally i thought the jack needed replaced, but the guy told me it was just my cord which Best Buy confirmed. So after getting the new cord i have this new problem. Usally there is a battery indicator light on when the battery is in and it is plugged in. I tryed taking out the battery, unplugging it and holding the power button down, but that didnt work. I also tryed it without the battery in. Is my battery just bad? Thanks for any help.

Thank you,
Dan

Answer:Solved: battery indicator light flashing red when power button on my laptop is pushed

Try plugging the laptop in and then push the power button. I have had the same thing happen to me when the laptop would only work when I had it plugged in. I had to replace the battery.

Model: HP Pavillion 15 ak007txOriginal OS: FREE DOSCurrent OS: Windows 10 64 bit Problem: I tried to update the BIOS using this file:Released:2016-07-05File name: sp76335.exeVersion F.80It gave me a Blue Screen of Death and the computer restarted. After restarting I only get a blank screen, the fan also does not turn on, there's no text and no way to access the BIOS nor the boot menu. The Caps Lock led does not blink but the power button blinks every 2 seconds indefinitely, every time the light goes off a click sound is heard from my laptop. This, according to HP, suggests a BIOS Corruption Failure. What I've tried:I have removed the battery and tried to perform the hard reset procedure but that does not help. The only progres that i have had is that i tried the windows logo+b button and now the blinking stops and the power button stays on that too indefinitely.i have tried this method many times but to no avail. I also tried creating a usb bios recovery as mentioned by HP and tried the windows logo + B button combination but still nothing has happened.I hold the windows logo + B, then turn on the computer. Nothing happens. I have tried holding them for different lengths of time, there's no beeps, no text on the screen, nothing.  Please help me out,What am I missing?

Answer:Lenovo B590 Laptop Power Light Flashing Orange

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please have a look at page 7 of your B590 User Guide:
http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b490_b43xx_b590_ug_en.pdf
for a description of the color / blink 'codes'.

Basically, a slow orange blink means that the battery is between 5 and 20% charged (and charging). It should change to a slow green blink at 20%.

Hope this helps a bit.
Regards.

Hello, My parents have owned a Lenovo laptop for a couple of years now. However, recently this issue showed up and I wondered whether there is a chance there is a solution to this problem which I could try myself, since the laptop its warranty already expired. If I recall correctly, the model of the laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2, running Windows 10. So here is the issue; the laptop has issues turning on. Oddly enough, it is not a very consistent issue. Eventually, the laptop does turn on. The problem is that this sometimes takes hours, other times the laptop appears to be able to boot instantly as it normally would. I have no idea what affects this. When pressing the power button, the keyboard backlight starts flashing. It does this until the laptop completely boots, and as I said, the amount of time this takes varies. I already tried looking for solutions on different forums, but they usually concern the issue where the keyboard backlight flashed and the laptop simply will not boot at all, which is not the case here, as it eventually does but often it takes a while.Other solutions suggested a certain amount of flashes meant a certain issue or failure. Problem here is that the amount of flashes seem to be random, so it is not as if it just keeps looping a certain amount of flashes as it varies. This leaves me puzzled as to what could be the culprit. I am not sure what to do, especially since I have not owned a Windows-based machine in a whi... Read more

Hi itsasin,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number or MTM to verify the model (you can also get from here)?

Isolating the point of failure may be necessary to determine if the delay on start up is a power issue or a boot problem.
Try removing the harddrive so we can test if the machine can power faster.
You can download the hardware manual from the support website for removal guide.

Update us how it goes.

The main problem is that I can't get into the BIOS screen due to a lack of the system password... any ideas on what I can do to look it up or something? Or do I have to take it into a store?

Hi Community, I really hope one of my fellow community members is willing to help me out. To start things off, some general information: I own a Lenovo Y510P Ideapad which is 3 years old. I have never had many issues with the laptop, however a few months ago it started to become much slower, therefore I reset my laptop to factory settings. Unfortunately this did not solve my problem. A few days ago I tried to start my laptop, but it was struggling and it ended up starting to prepare automatic repair. After waiting for almost 10 hours nothing changed and I decided to force shut down the laptop by holding the power button. After trying to start the laptop again I was left with the problem I am stuck with now. It starts with a black screen with "Checking media.." in the top left corner. This is followed up by a screen showing me "EFI Network 0 for IPv4 boot failed." and "EFI Network 0 for IPv6 boot failed." Pressing a key leads me to a screen which tells me that the default Boot Device is Missing or Boot Failed. I checked in the BIOS Setup whether my HDD is connected and it is detected. I bought a new SSHD as I though the HDD may simply be broken, however I get the same issue with the new SSHD. The SSHD is detected, same issue though. After googling I found that some people were able to start their laptop by setting the Boot Mode to "Legacy Support". I tried this aswell, but no success. After changing the boot mode to Legacy Support I ... Read more

Answer:Booting issues Y510P Ideapad

Hello RobBrandsThanks for using the Lenovo forums.Sounds like the issue will be potentially with the motherboard in this case.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal
If these steps do not work I would recommend, that you call your local Lenovo support line for a possible service. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hi, my Lenovo V570 keyboard recently stopped working so I took the keyboard off to reposition the cable. In the process I disconnected another cable on the motherboard (shown in the pictures below). I also cant find the black plastic piece that was holding it down.

Now not only does the keyboard not work but the power button does nothing. After research though Ifound out this laptop is notorius for having the power button go bad.

When I plug in the AC adapter I do see the battery light go on and it charges so I dont think the motherboard is bad. Ihave tried every trick in the book as far as getting static out of the laptop power button (holding down power button forcertain times). I looked at the mainteneance manual for this laptop and could not figure out what the disconnected cable does. I have tried reconnecting the cable without the plastic piece but that did not work.

Is the disconnected cable responsible for this or should I order a new power button board with cable?

Hi maoxiaomin,Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Based from your post does sound a bit similar to a machine I have which is the Y500. In my case I had to send my machine in to servie for board replacement as they detected it to be faulty. However in your case, I'm not saying that this is the exact same case but let look at the the possibilities first and if all still fails you'll need to contact our service team for further diagnosis.Understandably we've established that you've update the BIOS, battery firmware and ever rest you BIOS.Firsting first though could you uninstall the Lenovo energy mangement and reinstall it back from the Link belowWin8 :http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/em8.08.0.2.4.exeWin8.1http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/em8180214.exeHope this helps and please do post back your results.Regards

Hi, Short Version:My laptop screen has been messing up (Massive flickering, white/green lines) simliar to what dozens of other people on these and other  forums reported. Sent laptop in for warranty, didn't fix problem. I want to have  my laptop replaced or refunded. This is a 1000$ laptop, and I cannot afford to get a new one. The type of "support" I have received from Lenovo has been very poor, I hope I can get some help from the official Lenovo mods here. Long Version:My Lenovo Ideapad y510p screen had a slight flicker (not very noticeable) when I got it, however I searched online and it seemed to be the same for many people and not getting worse. Howver a few months ago the flicker started to get really bad and the screen also had these white/green noise lines appearing and disappearing (even in BIOS and across multiple operating systems, so this IS NOT a software issue but a hardware one). I contacted Lenovo support and after a lenghty process of having me reset and reformat the computer they told me that I would have to send it in for warranty repairs. I am a college student so it is very difficult to part with my laptop for 10 days, I had to wait until a few weeks later during spring break when I sent my laptop in for repairs. I SPECIFICALLY mentioned on the information sheet that this was NOT an LCD issue or a display issue but an issue with the laptop design/motherboard, but after 10 days of waiting I got back my laptop with just the LCD scre... Answer:LENOVO Ideapad Y510p Problems

Hi ElectricCrayon,

Im sorry to hear about your experience..
What I would Suggest since in your situation the problem is HW and it definitely need to be repaired and since you cannot have the laptop leave,
You can Report that the Porblem is not repaired and You still need a repair. Let them know that you can send the computer in for repair at a later Time.
They'll Give you a Case number and When you call back once your ready to have it repaired, Even if your warranty expired, You can Provide the case number where you reported the Issue. And They'll Honor the repair.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hi Just got the y510p laptop and am trying to install Ubuntu so I have this bootable DVD and I wanted to try Ubuntu before installing as usual but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On boot menu options there is only EFI and some kind of network options but no dvd.I tried following instructions here but no matter how many times I press F1 during startup, I can't get to boot menu and windows starts directly:http://support.lenovo.com/en_CY/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT036814Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is ubuntu 13.10 supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot.I don't understand why there is no option to reorder boot devices like on all my older PCs. I manage to get BIOS setup pressing restart and shift and then selecting UEFI firware settings and I do get to bios setups but again no way to find the option for booting on a dvd. Any advice? Answer:lenovo ideapad y510p boot on CD/DVD

to get the computer to boot from a cd, turn the computer on and press f12 as soon as the lenovo icon appears (if you are obsessive it would not hurt to press it over and over again) this will eventually cause the boot menue to open up. you will probably see a few different options, but if you have a useable boot disk in your optical drive, one of the options will have DVD in the name. pick this one. Once the disk boots up you will probably get a black screen. if this happens, turn up your screen brightness by pressing fn + the up arrow key. you should see the ubuntu loading bar after that. good luck

I've had my Ideapad y510p for about 2 years and recently the charger stopped working.  At first it just needed to be re-plugged in, then it needed to be plugged it at weird angles and held up to charge, then it had to be in the exact right position, with no motion.  Then it just stopped charging.   From what I've read it sounds like this may be a problem with the port, not the charger, but I've tried using a charger that fits my computer but isn't the right voltage/wattage (or w/e) and it will charge for a time, then stop, then continue to charge if I plug it into a new socket. I tested it by taking out the battery and turning it on: with the inappropriate charger, it'll still work, with the old charger, it won't turn on.   As far as I can tell, there's no physical damage to the charger, though it's possible it might have been dropped or mishandled when traveling with it.  I know for a fact I've dropped my computer several times, but I've never had charging problems immediate after, and all those instances were a good while back.   So is it more likely that my computer is the problem, or just the charger?  I still have the warranty on my laptop; if that's the problem, can I get it fixed?

I know very little about upgrading computers, but I know that it can be difficult to upgrade laptops because of how tight they can be inside. I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the Lenovo Ideapad y510p with a NVIDIA GTX 750 video card. Thanks.

Answer:Nvidia GTX 750 in Lenovo Ideapad y510p

The laptop already comes with a single 750 or 755 GPU along with the intel GPU. Depending on which one you have you can add a second one to the ultrabay (if you can find one for sale) but you cannot replace what is already built in. The second problem is that the ultrabay 750 cards are all defective currently so adding a second one won't work.

Hi.I am considering buying Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p,to be more specific I want exactly this model from newegg.com. This model has 5400rpm 1tb HDD which in my personal opinion is not good enough for this laptop so I was planning to upgrade it to SSD but I am not if this is possible to remove the existing HDD and replace is with my SSD as I see no HDD bay on the back of the laptop, the manual also provides no information on how to acess the HDD. There is also no information on the size of the hard disk drive on this model,is it a regular 2.5" HDD or are they using other size drive..? I have chatted with a few representatives online, but they could not provide any specific information, one of them told me that this is possible, the other one said it is not.I hope someone can provide detailed information on this matter.Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p HDD Question.

hi quick5and,

Welcome to the Forums.

The official Ideapad Y510p specs sheet has not been released yet but the 1TB HDD is a regular 2.5" SATA HDD (same as the Y500, see page 38-40 of the hardware maintenance manual on how to access the HDD)

Other SKU of the Y510p, like this merchant, sells a hybrid 2.5" drhve (sample specs here)

As for upgrading the HDD to SSD, you may want to check Crucial's SSD upgrade for the Y510p or go with an mSATA drive (according to these reviews, the Y510p uses an M.2 (formally NGFF) mSATA drive).

Please check this pdf data sheet in the future as it will enlist the official specs for the Y510p.

Best regards,
neokenchi

Answer:lenovo ideapad y510p gpu problem

Is this a Single GT755 laptop? What do you mean that GPU doesnt work? How are you testing this? If you have a single GT755M system, due to optimus technology, if you are not playing games then the laptop will use the integrated 4600 graphics.

Hi, I got my new Lenovo Ideapad y510p for a month ago, and  three weeks after it started acting wierd by having a slow startup and sometimes it just had black screen when it was starting up. Sometimes I have to hold down the  power and try several times to turn on the computer. When it do start up, at the begining (after the lenovo logo) it makes some black screen switching (not sure if it correct way to describe it), and then it take ages for it to get on the login screen, and get on desktop, its like it doesn't have an SDD. Any help?

Answer:Problems with Lenovo Ideapad y510p

Hi Zenadbeg,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510p laptop is not working as expected and takes long time to boot into Windows, below are the steps to check and resolve the issue in the computer:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
To access the BIOS menu click the NOVO button which at the left-hand side of the computer next to AC power adapter jack.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now Click on ?F10? Key to safe the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hey all, I recently recieved a Lenovo y510p for the holidays and I was wondering if anyone was running into the same thing I was, and it definitely wasn't a brick wall haha. When I play BF4 on all lowest settings(although it can run on high settings easily), the laptop becomes ridiculously hot within a measly 10 minutes. Is this normal? What can I do to fix it?  I use an external Keyboard and Mouse so that I don't have physical contact with it. The laptop is elavated and I have a usb powered fan beneath it. It helps noticeably when I'm browsing the web or watching videos. Even when I play games (steam) such as l4d2, counter strike, etc., it never gets as hot as when I play bf4 for 10 minutes. I fear it may ruin the laptop and just break it if I continue to play it.

Hi,I am interested in the Y510P SLI (5938 9550) Dual SLI for Malaysia.I'd like to know more information about the RAM on the laptop. Is it a DDR3L (1.35V) or DDR3 (1.5V). Some of the resellers in Malaysia told me that its DDR3 (1.5V). However, as the laptop is using a Haswell chip, I believe it should be 1.35V. The Lenovo Malaysia website does not show any information about this. Heck, it doesn't show any information about the Y510P at all.Anyone can help? Thanks

Hello guys,  I bought my Lenovo y510p for months ago, tried with several SLI games to run those. They all crash, and returns the screendriver has stopped working. I have the y510p with GT 755m sli. Any solution for this?? If I run without SLI all is working good.

Have you updated your video card drivers with the latest drivers from the Nvidia website?  Have you monitored your GPU temperatures to see if either of your GPUs are overheating?  You can try using GPU-Z to monitor your GPUs while gaming.

Hello everybody!I'm new to this server, and have got a major issue with my laptop. It keeps restarting. When I press the power button, it lights up and the laptop starts booting. Then, the lenovo logo is displayed for approximately 30 seconds. Then it shuts down again and restarts itself. It keeps doing this, all the time, unless I eject the battery... I don't know what to do, and can't find similar problems elsewhere (some keep restarting, but they get to see other screens besides the lenovo logo). I'm a producer and I make music for labels. I've got a project stored on the hard drive of the laptop and I desperately need it! How can I fix this problem? Any suggestions?Additional information:Single geforce gt755m graphics cardi7 4770QM processor8gb ram16GB SDWindows 8.12 months out of warrantyI've been using this laptop for school (though I've travelled rarely with my laptop, used it more as a desktop), music production and games.I've got norton internet security installed so I doubt it could be a virus.Maybe a problem/error with windows 8.1?I've always been very carefull with my laptop, and it has never dropped or anything like that. It's in perfect condition for it's age.One thing, the battery has become "lazy" (about 1 hour on maximum preformance, 2 to 3 hours on energy saving)I really hope someone has an answer to this and can help me out!Kind regards,Justin Nederkoorn

I first logged out of my computer and came back and I noticed an orange light on the power button. I shut it of and turn it back on about two times with the same results of an orange light. I then shut of the the extension that houses 10 plugs. When I turned on the extension I turned on the computer the power button didn't give off a blue light or orange light. The VGA cable, mouse, keyboard, Ethernet cable are all plugged in. I later removed all the connects to the computer gave it a minute and plugged it all back in. There is a solid green light on the back under the power cable. The fans turn on there is noise coming from inside the computer a soft humming and light fan from the back of the computer. But the power button will not turn on. The monitor light is orange and says "No Input signal Input 2,Go to Power Save." When I switch to input 1 it reads "Cable Disconnected Go to Power Save." What internal issue could this be?

I have just received this laptop. I followed the instructions out of the box, installing the battery, then connecting the power. The battery started charging that first time, but after that, any time I tried reconnecting the A/C power supply, the laptop would not recognize the adapter and I am not able to charge my battery.  I have tried the following steps: 1. Shutting down the computer, removing the battery, and starting the computer from the A/C power supply. The computer will not recognize the A/C power supply to turn on the computer. 2. Updating all the power management drivers. Everything was already installed properly. 3. Using the Lenovo Energy Management battery gauge. I must have the A/C power supply plugged in to use it, but the computer still won't recognize it. 4. Held down the power button for 30-40 seconds then reset the BIOS to default settings. No change 5. Tested my outlets and connections between my AC adapter cords.  Everything is working properly. There is one way that I can get the computer to recognize the AC adapter, and that involves all of these steps shown below, but when I unplug the AC adapter I am right back to the beginning, and I have to redo the whole process. I have just received this laptop and I am quite sure that you shouldn't have to go through this process every time you want to recharge the battery, or use your computer while only powered by the AC adapter. ... Recently purchased the Aspire TC-705 desktop. Everything is fine. But I do have question on the power button light behavior that puzzles me. On occasion the power button will continously blink white while the system presumably goes into sleep mode but sometimes it will not blink but instead exhibits the stead white light. So the question is: Why does this desktop power button light blink and sometimes not while in sleep mode?" Running 8.1 windowsset to turn off display after 10 minutesset to turn off disk after 20 minutesset to enter sleep mode after 30 minutes

Answer:TC-705 Power button light

If the power light isn't blinking, then it's not in sleep mode.  Your monitor might be in sleep mode, but your computer isn't. There's several things that can prevent your computer from sleeping at the designated time (with inactivity).  One of the most common culprits is Windows Media Player (multimedia).  You can check your advanced power settings to change "prevent idling to sleep".

Question: power button light

Whenever I shut down my laptop, the power light doesnt go off everytime. It goes off 1 in 10 times. Rest of the time it remains on and if I dont notice that whole of the battery is consumed.I have to press power button to switch it off most of the times after giving shut down option

Answer:power button light

Dear Customer, Try the following. Open Settings and select System.  Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'.  Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the IMEI driver directly from Intel on the following link, unzip the package and run the installer. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26127/Intel-Management-Engine-Consumer-Driver-for-Intel-NU... When the installation has completed, restart the notebook. When the machine has reloaded, re-enable Fast Start-up and reboot the notebook once again - let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Hey guys,

I installed Windows 10 on the 29th and have been mostly happy except for one major issue: when I leave my laptop alone for about 10-20 minutes, the OS completely locks up and all I can do is hold down the power button and force it to shut down. For those of you who don't know, the Ideapad Y510p is equipped with a Nvidia GeForce GT 750M graphics card, and I have read about a conflict between Windows Update and the GeForce experience program. I've tried to change the settings so that it runs only on the integrated Intel graphics but unless I did something wrong, that hasn't worked either. I've checked Windows Update and GeForce experience and both programs as well as the drivers are all up to date. I'm at my wits end and am seriously contemplating downgrading to 8.1 where I never had this problem. Any responses are greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Ever since buying this laptop I've had the battery set to "optimize battery health", which keeps the level at 50%. But since last week or so I noticed the level suddenly dropped to about 38%, then 37, 36, etc, a bit everyday. It still says "plugged in and charging", but the icon doesn't have the charging animation, nor does the % go up. I called tech support earlier and he said to unplug the charger, then reinstall the Lenovo power management software. This didn't really solve the problem, in fact all it did was lower the % down to 25% now, because all this time the charger was disconnected running on battery power. I think basically the battery is not really charging even though it says it's charging, or it could be just not calibrated correctly? Anyone know what I should do, besides buy a new battery since that's the last resort? The laptop is roughly 1.5 yrs old, never had this problem until last week. I heard about the battery gauge reset method, but people warn that it could also damage the battery.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P battery problem

hi KevinLQ,

Thanks for Posting.

Have the computer boot to the BIOS mode.
Press F2 when you turn on the computer
While in BIOs Mode unplug the AC adapter and let it Drain until it shudown on its own.

This will Drain the Battery from any charge and will count the battery as 0
Now Recharge the battery and check if it will be read by WIndows correctly.

If this shows the same problem, You can have the system Serviced via Warranty.

Hope this helps

I am currently having trouble disabling hyperthreading on my Lenovo Ideapad Y510P. The reason for this is because Rainbow Six Siege crashes constantly and most Reddit posts have suggested to turn it off. I have tried various solutions, but none of them have really worked. I have tried turning my cores up to four and higher and yet no luck. I cannot find hyperthreading in the BIOS setup screen. In-depth specs for my laptop will be put below. After being in school for about a month (I am in college), my laptop started experiencing a problem with the graphics card.  At random times my screen would start to filcker about every, thirty seconds or so. The screen would then go black after some time and the mouse could be seen flickering at the center of the screen. After a few minutes, a BSOD would appear with the error SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (nvlddmkm.sys). I know this is an issue with the Nvidia graphics driver and I have updated it several times to both the beta drivers and release drivers and the issue still persists, although it has become less frequent. It has started to occur after having the display off for prolonged times. The issue appears to be independent of background activity. (i.e music playing, downloads in progress, or idle) Recently in the past week, my laptop started experiencing severe boot issues. This has happened twice with both events two days appart. The first time boot problems occured, I turned on my laptop like normal to work a group project in one of my classes and the reolution was skewed per application. Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Y510P reset/wipe

hi jiroah,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

While the computer is turned off, you can try pressing the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit to factory defaults (this will wipe all data on the OS partition (eg. C:\) and will restore the preloaded Win8 OS, softwares and drivers).

Note:
If you have files on the D:\ drive, you will need to manually move/delete them as this will not be touched by OneKey Recovery.

I just got my new ideapad laptop last week and its been working wonderfully until about 2 days ago. I usually use my laptop in my room which is separate from the modem/router. The connection in my room was fine but when i played online games, i noticed incredible lag. My internet speed dropped around 4-12mbps and has been this speed since. When i move to the room with the modem/router, the speed is significantly faster (obviously). I'm not sure if this is a problem with my laptop or my router. I've upgraded the intel n 7260 drivers to the latest version and ive turned off mcafee firewall but its still super slow. Any way i can get the speed back to normal?

Hello.I am the owner Lenovo IdaePad y510p Intel i5 4200m.Not so long ago I bought a i7 processor 4810MQ.Both the i5 4200m and i7 4810MQ work on the Socket G3 also known as RPG 946B/947 or FCPGA 946 but with the difference that the intel i5 4200m has a TDP of 37W and Intel i7 4810MQ has a TDP of 57W.So after update the BIOS to version 3.08 willingly I took up the replacement processor. To my surprise, after an exchange with i5 to i7 4200m 4810MQ laptop will not turn on, for a short time (1 to 3 seconds) shone on the white button "power" but immediately afterwards extinguished.I suspect that it is a voltage input to the processor, but the BIOS is not possible because the feature voltage change is not visible / hidden. I hit it on:https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/3546-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-white...but it seems to me such output last resort, and I wanted to ask what to do now.I do not want to believe that the 300W power supply does not could handle the additional 20W per processor. What to do in my Lenovo IdeaPad y510p to use Intel i7 4810MQ?I'm sorry for his handling of English who constantly grind. Thanks!!!

They're RAM sticks, not cards, and they're fairly easy to change out. I would suggest looking for something in the 1866mhz speed, though I think you need lower voltage memory. So I'd get something 1.35v or lower.

Answer:Low Memory Battlefield 3 Lenovo Ideapad Y510p

There is another thread on this forum that deals with specifically that issue. I will summarize the solution here -Just keep your in-game resolution same as your desktop resolution. So if your desktop is running at 1920*1080 then keep the game resolution also the same. Also, try to tone down the graphics settings a bit. Do not keep them at Very high or Ultra, its good for this memory problem and also the heat. (if you have high temps) Another thing, would be to check your Task manager while gaming and see which processes are using up max memory. I got this error only once while playing Hitman:Absolution. Now, I play FIFA 13, Thief, Tomb Raider. Spec Ops The line at High settings and have not had any problems. My memory usage  in normal use is around 35-45% and gaming memory usage is 55-70%, depending on the game.

Hello! I have had this problem for a LONG time now, and it is getting very frustrating now. Whenever my screen has a large area of a dark color, my whole display begins to glitch out and flicker. Not only do I have this problem, but there is a problem where there are pink and green areas covering places where it shouldn't be, if that makes any sense, I don't know how to explain it. I have tried so many ways to fix it, but none have worked. I had reinstalled my drivers MULTIPLE times, I had sent it back to Lenovo for repairs, I had unplugged some cables that people had said would fix it, but still, the problem still persists. I do not know what could fix this, and it is so aggravating! It seems like everyone who had this issue as well can never get it fixed either, and their thread gets suppressed and never to be heard from again... any help is appreciated at this point, I can't even bear to look at my laptop screen anymore because the flashing and flickering irritates my eyes. This seems like a problem with ALL y510p's, and I don't understand why anything can be done about it. Thanks in advanced.

However, recently I noticed in AfterBurner that my GPUs are not as cool as before and are working at 95-97 C when playing Battlefield 3 for longer time. I suppose it is a dust problem in the air vents, because it was keeping around 75-80 C before when playing that game at the same settings. Can some one give me a hand what is the proper way of cleaning it up without voiding the warranty? Lenovo customer support said that opening the back cover to clean it won't void the warranty, but I can't open it. I remove the battery and the second GPU from the ultra bay and wWhen I unscrew the 8 screws I can't remove the cover. It looks like it is still screwed to somewhere. Can some one give me some instructions from that point forward. Thanks

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad y510p GPU 750M SLI Overheating at 97C

Hi Vaskovass,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510P Laptop is overheating nowadays which was working as expected before, as you have informed accumulation of the dust in the vents is one of the major reasons for heating. Performing ?Dust Removal? which is one of the options in the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) should resolve the issue. Below are the links to download the LEM and also the images to guide performing ?Dust Removal?.

Answer:It is possible to Update Lenovo Ideapad Y510p processor i5 to i7

hi Nkama1993

Welcome to the Forums.

Although it's possible to replace the CPU on the Y510p (see page 61 of the HMM), upgrading the CPU is not cost effective as you may also need to replace the motherboard (upon looking at the spare parts, the 37W mainboard for the i5 dual-core CPU is different from the 47W mainboard for i7 quad-core CPU).

Considering the price of the i7 CPU and a compatible mainboard, I think it'll be much better to invest on a new Core-i7 system.

My speakers were working fine, then I stepped away from my computer and neither is working now. The headphone jack works. But the left speaker just makes a popping noise. I've uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers, but that did not fix the issue. I just bought this laptop a little over a month ago, so I'll be really disappointed if this is a hardware issue.
