Preferred Solution: Ideapad Y560 0646 Wifi link 1000 BGN Driver problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It is like when you first receive you unit from Lenovo. Update: Here is a link from Microsoft on how to configure your wifi connection. In case you are using a Mobile Broadband refer to page 36 to 39 of the user guide for your unit.

Hello! Something of a frustrating problem here: I use a Lenovo Y560 laptop with an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN network adapter.  I've typicallyhad little problems connecting to wireless access points until two weeks ago. After a bit oftrial and error I realized that, though the adapter detects all the networks it used to at the samesignal strengths, it's unable to connect to anything that's basically not at full signal strength (prettymuch beside the computer). I've tried re-installing the manufacturer's drivers, installing Intel's drivers(which for some reason cause the adapter to be shown as an Intel Centrino-N wireless adapter ratherthan an Intel Wifi Link 1000), disabling 802.11n mode, disabling the "Allow computer to turn off thisdevice to save power", ensuring that transmit power is at the highest, roaming is at medium, switchedthrough channels... nothing. Performance is exactly the same, basically bouncing off access points withfour bars or less of signal strength. I've tested this on APs with Open, WEP, and WPA2 security, reset routers, etc. Verified the actual adapter, seemed well connected, cables were in place. Any ideas, because it's driving mea little bit nuts how though the networks are detected, connection's not possible. Thanks!

Hello, I had bought Ideapad Y560 (0646) with i7-740 QM processor around one and half years back. It normally runs very hot. But its summer in India and the temperature normally goes around 40 degrees Celsius. This is adding more into the problem. Since few days, the laptop has started to power off in the middle of the work. When I touch the left part of the keyboard where the Power button is located, its hot like hell. If I try to restart the laptop immediately after it went off, it doesn't work. I have to wait for the laptop to cool down and then only I can restart it. I searched few forums and came across utility which can show the temperature of the CPU and GPU as well as fanspeed of the GPU. I am herewith posting the results of the same. Strangely, the software shows the GPU Fan Speed is 0 RPM. The onboard graphics card that comes with my laptop is ATI Radeon HD 5730. I am wondering if this graphics card comes with fan or not. Also, I am wondering if my CPU fan is also working fine or not. Can you guys please look at the screenshot I am posting herewith and tell me if something is wrong with my laptop and needs to be corrected?  Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I bought the Y560-0646 with switchable graphics but I just can't seem to find a way to switch between the 2 graphic devices.
At the start, it didnt really bother me, since the ati card was working and I didnt want to switch to amd. But since yesterday the amd card is activated and even in the device manager it just shows one device (amd).
I installed all the new drivers, following all the steps (including driversweep, readydriver) but there is no option to switch back to the ati card.
I would really appreciate some help.

My warranty for my IdeaPad ran out back in June 2011, and had previously been sent in to have the motherboard replaced. I haven't turned it on for about 4 months, but when I did today the laptop screen is flickering regularly. This happens whether I'm in safe mode or not. It's basically a black screen flashing in a few times a second. Nothing on the screen is garbled. I ran all of the Windows updates, and reinstalled the ATI Mobility Radeon video driver from the Lenovo website, but that hasn't helped. Is there any idea of what would cause this to happen? I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to things more complicated like this. Thank you. EDIT: When I moved the laptop the another table, it started making this very loud buzzing, beeping noise. I had to take out the battery to turn it off. Now, when it turns on the screen still flickers but Windows won't start up at all. When it gets to the "Welcome" loading screen, after a few seconds the computer just turns off. This happens in safe mode also, whether the computer is plugged into an outlet or not,

I am having similar difficulties, perhaps related?  I have a Lenovo G560 with wi-fi driver intel wi-fi link 1000 bgn.  The issue I have is with connection to my home network only.  This machine will successfully connect to other wireless networks, both public and secured (I provide a key).  I have tested as following:
I successfully connected to wireless network at work, McDonalds, Tim Horton's, etc.
I shut the machiee down, took it home and restarted at home.  I checked the wireless connections, and found my home network, 4 bars strength, and shows connected and internet active.  I launched IE and successfully connected to the internet.
Then, I connected the ethernet cable and our LAN hard-wired connection shows as connected, as well as the wireless network (they show up as two different network names), both connected.  I tested internet access and was successful.
I then disconnected the ethernet cable, again check the network connections, see my network listed and showing connected.  HOWEVER, now although the network says connected and with internet access, I am no longer able to connect to any websites, gives 'cannot display web page'.  Restarting the machine does not seem to correct the issue.

My router is full 300Mbps device. My settings:Edge: 802.11n bandwith for 2,4GHz =auto, Ad Hoc QoS = WMM enabled, transmitting power = 5. maxRouter: WPA2 (pre shared key) AES, Area = Europe, Channel ID = auto, Transmitting power = 100, Bandwith = 20/40MHz Similar case is described here, but it not solved yet. Thanks AltGr

Firstly, sorry for my english.  Now, whereīs the problem. Iīve bought two days ago a brand new Lenovo Z570 with pre-installed Win7HP. I do not like it, so I updated it to Proff. version. I installed all the drivers, and when I moved to other room in flat, I was/am not able to connect to internet. Wifi signal is excellent in every room, but the only place where I can connect to internet is my table where is also the router. Thereīs no problem in connectivity with other devices. My older NB Dell Inspiron 1520 with Broadcom wifi adapter has no problems with connection.  Yeah, and if I move in the same room whereīs router too just for a 3 metres, I cannot connect to internet, but the signal is great.  I dont think the problem could be in router īcause other devices (4 NBīs) are able to connect to the internet in every room. Where could be problem and what I have to do? Thanks for replies

Hello, I have already RMA'd my Ideapad Y560 2 times and still having an issue, they stated that the Wifi was tested and fully functional. Here is my problem. I can ONLY get connected wirelessly to my router/modem when I am within the same room as the router. Once I leave the room, I immediately lose connection, or it shows as "Limited Access" and I cannot get internet even though the network is still discoverable with a range of 4 to 5 bars. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, I have also tried using GNOME linux boot cd, I have updated to the newest drivers, I have set wireless in energy management to maximum performance in all instances, I have unchecked the "disable wireless when power saving option" same outcome. I have called my ISP and they couldn't help either. If anyone can help me please let me know, I really hope I don't have to send it in for RMA a 3rd time Lenovo customer support is really great but these guys are making too many mistakes on the repair end.

I have an hp pavilion dv6 1355dx win 7 64bit intel core 2 duo. The wifi was working fine with my remembered connections and connected automatically within range. Then it started saying limited connection and would not let me browse the internet. After trouble shooting it said "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter" So I uninstalled reinstalled Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN it was listed under network adapter so I'm assuming that means it is the adapter but I was told it is the driver. Still confused on that. A friend suggested that I delete my remembered connections now it just says no connections available.

Under network adapter properties even tried changing the channel width for band 2.4 thats Value was set 20 MHz only to Auto, as I was instructed by my college IT guy. I've searched for the drivers installed the one on the hp support site. According to my model i have Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter, in the devices supported list nothing that I thought was the adapter or driver was listed. Downloaded the file they said contains the driver for that adapter...didn't seem to do anything other than install. Tried rebooting still nothing. Anyone have any ideas or is it just a lost cause?

Thanks

Allison

Answer:Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN wireless internet won't work

You could try backing up your data and re-loading your system from your backup software or from a restore point from before the start of your problem? That way the network adaptor will have a working driver installed.

Hi there, Iīve got serious trouble with my SL510  28477MG. According to the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox itīs activated, but it doesnīt pass the diagnose test of the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Framework. The first test does already fail with the message, the adapter to be not activated or not installed. Also using the key-combination Fn+F5 there only appears the Bluetooth-Adapter, but no WLAN. Iīve tried to install the Access Connections, but it fails as the OS (Windows Server 2008 R2) seems not to be supported. If I try to connect to a WLAN-AccessPoint it fails as it doesnīt find any. So, my question is: What am I doing wrong? How can I localize the problem? Anyone else having that problem? Thanks a lot.  Greetings

Is there somewhere a service missing? Or is the driver model (Vista and SBS 2008 have the same core) different? Greetings from Germany

I'd consider checking whether or not the antennae leads are attached properly...

It's also possible that the wireless card is defective, in which case you'd need to send it in for warranty.

I bought a IdeaPad Y560 about a month ago, and overall, I'm satisfied with the laptop.  There is one pretty big problem that seems to be somewhat serious though.  Occasionally my screen will go completely black, then when the display comes back, the graphics will be slightly off, and I'll get a message that says "Video card drive stopped responding" in the lower right corner.  After this happens, the computer is basically unresponsive.  I can barely move the mouse, and it seems to barely function.  The only thing I can do is hold the power button and manually shut it off.  I have to do this at least once a day, and it's become very annoying...and I also assume it's bad for my computer.  I noticed the video card driver only fails after I start getting the "big mouse" problem that a lot of people seem to have (also very annoying).  So maybe it's related?  Anybody have this happen to them before?

Answer:IdeaPad Y560 video driver not responding

The big cursor problems and the problem you're facing are indeed related, because they are caused by the same driver (the ATi Catalyst graphics driver). There are some helpful instructions on how to install newer versions of the driver in other threads, like the big cursor thread. I recommend the Catalyst 10.7 drivers, rather than the latest ones, which cause a blue screen for some people.

Hi, I bought the Lenovo Y560 over the summer, and so far I've had an awesome time with the computer. However whenever I try and update the drivers for the GPU (Radeon 5730), something goes wrong. Midway through the installation the resolution drops to 800x600, and I get a message saying that no drivers are installed; when i restart I get a blue screen. I do a system restore and it fixes the issue, however it leaves me with an outdated driver. Is there a way I can fix this issue?

Answer:Ideapad Y560 Driver Update Bluescreen

When you execute the installer and it starts unpacking the contents of the driver, and it asks you to replace the existing file, does it at one point say "Access Denied" for a file, then continue with the installation anyways?  I used to get a BSoD while trying to update the drivers, and my problem was related to that.  It would say access denied when trying to replace a thumbs.db file, and it would try to continue with the installation instead of completely copying the remaining content in the package to where it was supposed to.

Hello all, I know there are other threads dedicated to display issues with this laptop, but felt this particular problem was different enough to justify a new topic.  About 50% of the times the screen turns back on after having been closed/in hibernate mode, it goes black for a few seconds and a message appears notifying me that "the display driver has failed and recovered."  More often than not, this message is followed by the computer freezing.  I'm not getting any of the pixel problems others have mentioned, but this issue is an annoyance at best and a dealbreaker at worst.  Is this a problem with the computer itself?  With the OS?  I just got it a few weeks ago, and am wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem. Thanks!

hey Ijara, have you tried uninstalling the display drivers, let windows use its generic driver and try again?this can help determine if it is a driver issue or something else. also, do visit >>http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=661448and check that your system is updated

I have many external Hard Drives that I connect to my computers via a Vantec SATA / IDE to USB adapter.  It has always worked with any computers running any OS (including Apple...), but when I connect it to the Y560, it displays in device manager as "USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge" and shows no drivers found. I have updated to the lates BIOS and Chipset Drivers and Windows 7 is also up to date.  I tried uninstalling drivers and rebooting and it always detects the new device but fails installation stating no drivers found.. Would anyone have any ideas what to check next?

Answer:Ideapad Y560 - USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge driver not found

hi strauclair.
some hard-disks need more power and usb power is not enough for them.
so, if you have adapter for your hard-disk, you need to use it otherwise you'll need a usb cable shown below:

I recently installed a new hard drive with Windows 7 64bit (Home Premium) and after installing all of the drivers my wifi card is not working properly. And by not working properly I mean no wireless connections are appearing.  Inside of device manager the driver is listed as "Working properly" and the driver details match exactly what is on my other hard drive.  I've checked the BIOS, the physical Switch and the Energy Manager program and all of them has it listed as enabled. I do not believe it is a hardware issue, because when I swapped out my new hard drive with the old one it functions properly.Free internet high five to anyone who can help me fix it. Driver Details

Hello, I've bought my Y560 with ATI Radeon mobility 5730But unfotunately there is a problem with performance. I've tried to look it up here in forums but did not find the right problem. The problem is that when I am playing a game {Counter Strike : Source } , normally with 150+ FPS but after few minutes all of the sudden I am experiencing a huge fps drop and after that it runs at about 40 fps. Nothing pops up in the background, temperature is still the same as before.  If I quit the game and then start it again the fps are still at 40+- , so I have to reboot my ntb.   It usualy happens only in games which I play through Steam. I am running Win7 64bit Does anyone have similar problem????     Thanks for every Advice

Hi,I purchased a Y560 IdeaPad couple days ago and sadly the colors appear very inaccurate on the built-in display. Everything looks like its one of those oldschool CRTs that support only 9300K color temperature - pure white has a slight blueish shade and warm colors like red/orange are not saturated as much as they should be (you can almost feel that the blue is too much when looking at warm colors). Also some shades of gray appear to have reddish shade. I have 3 other displays for comparison 2 desktops(LG 1953T and HP f1523) and a 15.6 inch display on a ASUS Laptop (SEC3046 panel). All of them using a 6500K color temperature show accurate colors off the bat. Even the 15 inch HP from 2003 has better colors than the AUO40EC Panel in my Y560.What I have tried so far is playing with the driver settings using the Radeon 5730 since I assumed that the ATI card should drive the screen better than the built-in intel gpu. Note that colors looked the same using both cards. So I went and installed the latest driver from Lenovo for the 5730 which didn't change anything. Sadly Lenovo offers its customers a pretty outdated driver that doesn't offer the option to set color temperature for the built-in display. So I went to the ATI Website and downloaded the 11.3 Radeon Mobility which includes ATi CCC2 and supports adjustments for the color temperature. I only tried that, because I was suspecting that the color temperature was set wrong and that's the reason my colors appear inaccurate. Afte... Read more

Hi Everyone, I really need some advice and assistance here.I purchased a Lenovo Y560 off Amazon at the end of December 2010. I've had to change the battery twice already as the battery keeps depleating rapidly 1.5 months after the new battery is received. I've updated all the drivers (including the latest BIOS) but this doesn't seem to be working. The battery now lasts half an hour under normal use like web surfing although it's only a few months old at a 80% charge. Here is the laptop specs:http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0040X4NT2/ref=oss_productI am using the Lenovo Energy Management program to keep the screen display at a low level. I only use this laptop for internet browsing and Microsoft applications - that is all. No gaming, etc. It's set to the 80% battery life rate (the battery charges to 80%) to increase the lifespan of the battery (as per Lenovo's suggestions). It's also on Super Energy Saver. I'm using all the energy saving options to it's fullest and not running it in a high power state.I changed the battery twice already and only charge it when it gets to 5%. I never leave it plugged in over it's time. The battery would work well for 1.5 months, then it would begin to only last for 30 minutes at a time. I've noticed that when I have plugged in an HDMI cord into my laptop to my TV a few times to watch a movie off Netflix, a few weeks after, is when the battery starts to act up.Can anyone please offer some suggestions here?  Am I doing anything wrong? An... Just want to report this problem, I had my Y560 two years ago and I really like it. But I suspect there is a problem with the battery. My battery was detected to have a problem twice in 2 years! First time, it was replaced by a refreshed one, then a year later, same problem came again when my battery warranty expired.  I suggest lenovo take a serious check on this kind of battery.

Hi there, having an issue with my Ideapad & hoping someone might be able to help me narrow my issue down. Originally the anchors holding the hinges down all broke and I continued to use the laptop for some time without really noticing the problem. Eventually I noticed the screen would wobble a bit if it was bumped or moved in the slightest & soon after my video would start cutting out then being restored or i'd get a Bsod. Eventually opened the laptop up and figured out every anchor point for the hindges had snapped off the case, so I jb welded them all back into place and put it back together. Problem is, even after the anchors were fixed, the video would still cut out or bsod on me. I've narrowed my problem down to either the lcd cable, thinking it could possibly be pinched as a result of the hinges going out (Really hoping it's this). Damage to the motherboard as a result of the hinge on the left side pushing up on it from below whenever the lid was opened or when it bobbed (Would suck, since that'd mean needed a new motherboard) or posibly the hinge making contact with something or messing with the cord in some way whenever the lid is moved in a certain position. At the moment i'm able to use the laptop if I have the lid in a certain position, if I go to move it back (open more) the screen either doesn't come on at all or glitches out. Here are two pictures of my problem with the video. One is when the screen glitches out (this is usually ... Read more

Good morning everybody,

I have bought my laptop 1 year ago and everything was going ok, i installed many programs (Adobe illustrator) and games (PES2011) and many others and i faced no problems.
One day, my cousin used the laptop to watch a new movie but he forgot to charge the battery during that time until the laptop shuts down alone due to empty battery.
On the next day, i tried to power on my laptop it starts normally until it reached the Windows 7 logo it automatically shuts down. I tried again for several times with the same result then a blue screen with white writings on it was displayed on the screen (harddisk failure).
I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

I make the following points to try to restart the laptop but always with the same result:
1- Remove the new HDD and then insert it
2- Remove the Rams and then insert them
3- Remove the battery and then insert it.

I received my ideapad Y560 on monday of this week and it had been working fine. Last night i was using the laptop when all of a sudden the screen froze and the display essentially turned staticy and jagged. I held down the power button to turn off the machine so i could restart it but when i went to turn it back on several light turned on, i could hear the fan come on and the hard drive spinning but the screen did not turn on at all and nothing happened. Now the machine refuses to turn on at all. I noticed that the laptop seemed to be running hotter than usual last night so i dont know if it overheated or something like that. Any ideas on what could be wrong? I am more than a little irritated that my brand new machine has ceased working 2 days after i received it.

My computer did the exact same thing, except that it skipped straight to the 'doing nothing' phase. It turned out to be a faulty motherboard. I suggest you take advantage of your warranty and send your machine in.

Without any change my sound is popping and kranking again. I am very angry to have troubles again, so I made some test. I am using the y560 conectet via HDMI to a extra monitor. The notebook is closed, wifi is on and active. The cracking is ONLY appearing in this setting. If i open the Notebook and use its own display the cracking dissapears. If i turn off the Wifi its dissapearing too. I'm using a tool called "DP Latenzy checker" its showing long interrupts while my Sound is cracking. How can I fix this? Could it be that the wifi cables are not right connected? Is it a driver or hardware issue?

Hey, i have a problem with the driver for the ati chip. My notebook is the y560 with the i7 cpu and 4 gb ram. I have installed all drivers, which i found on the lenovo-drivers site. So and thats now my problem: When i surf in the internet my cursor is growing up. Dont ask me why or on wich way, but itīs really big. Hello. Your recently posted WIFI combo driver for this product WILL NOT INSTALL on Windows 7 32-bit. It's the one labeled "Intel,Atheros,Broadcom." The file that is downloaded is only 15.5 MB and not 61.5 MB like it says. My version of the S10-3T has the broadcom driver and now my bt+wifi won't install! Here is the link >>>> http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_3643.html My computer needs the driver for the Broadcom BCM4313, 14e4:4727. I believe the download link is actually pointing to the >> http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_2332.html  This file is 15.5 MB I need the Broadcom Windows 7 32-bit driver please. I have an Ideapad Y570.  I recently re-installed Windows 7 64bit and I am struggling to get the wifi to work.  On the driver site there are 3 wifi drivers.  How do I know which one to install? I have tried all 3.  The one that seems to load well is Intel link 1000 bgn driver.  When I switch it on and try to connect, it tells me the wifi device is off.  Is the switch on th front right side for the bluetooth and the wifi.  It is on and the light in the front is on.  If I push Fn + F5 nothing happens.  I have checked the settings in the bios and they are all correct.  I have loaded the Intel power management which is supposed to enable the Fn keys.  I can switch the trackpad off using the Fn + F6 key.  Please help.

Answer:Ideapad Y570 i7- which wifi driver

Does the wifi drivers you are downloading support win7? Or did your laptop come with win8?

I would like to know which driver is the best for idepad z710 wifi card intel n7260? I have a lot of problems with connection speed and drops. Tried driver on lenovo site for my model and also tried newest driver form intel page. Problem remains. I have also tried all the diffrent settings i have found on forums (uAPSD, HT, power settings etc). Can I install lenovo drivers for other computer model? Can you please suggest which driver should i install to have better connection. Connection on my old laptop is a lot better.

Answer:wifi driver ideapad Z series

Device driver software is very specific to the hardware.  Pretty much only the hardware manufacturer provides the driver.  When you get the wifi driver from Lenovo, they just re-distributes what they get from Intel. If you think the Intel wifi card is not doing you justice, you can always use another wifi device and disable the one inside the laptop.  For example, those nano wifi dongles by TP-Link are very inexpensive.  Got mine under USD $10.  Uses a USB port.

I purchased my T500 within the first week Lenovo had it available for US consumers to order.  I was assured the machine was going to come with a WiMax card.  I gave it to my daughter to use.  We never tested WiMax since we did not have WiMax in our city until October of last year.  Came to find out, our machine did not come with a WiMax card as was promissed.  It has in it the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card instead.  Needless to say, I no longer feel comfortable ordering from Lenovo anymore.  We got seven laptops in the house.  Five of which are ThinkPads.  However, we've moved over to Samsung after this unpleasant experience. Today I wanted to see if there's an updated version of the driver I'm running for my WiFi card, to my unpleasant surprise, the driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN card in my T500 does not exist anywhere at www.lenovo.com.  I only see drivers for the Intel 5150 and the Intel 5350 cards. Does anybody out there have any idea where I can find the latest driver for the Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN in my duped T500 laptop?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer:T500 - Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN Driver

In the T500 driver matrix you will find the following entry;

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200/ 6205, Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250,Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300,Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG, 3945ABG Network Connection, Intel WiFi Link 1000/ 5350, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG/ 4965AGN

Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows XP 08 Sep 2011 14.02.0000

The link leads you to the following download page:

Dear Lenovo support,I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and recognized some troubles with the Wifi driver. I'm getting disconnected time by time. On bootup, everything works fine, after a couple of minutes I just have limited access. When disconnecting and reconnecting the network, it works fine again, but a couple of minutes later, this problems repeats. I assume this happens due to driver issues. I already have the latest driver installed from the lenovo support website, but the problem still remains.Any suggested solutions or driver updates coming soon? Thanks in advance

Hello, I've been having a couple of problems with my WiFi and thought I'd look for an updated driver. The trouble is, when I go to the Lenovo support site, there is nothing for the Broadcom wifi card :-S Details are:Device Manager name: Broadcom 802.11n Network AdapterHardware Ids: ....     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4&REV_01     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_028000     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_0280 So I think that means the broadcom device ID is 4727. Can anyone shed any light please? Thanks,Bri.

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my Z580 laptop keeps crashing.  When it crashes the first thing that happens is the Wifi disconnects then a couple of minutes later the screen freezes and the entire laptop is unresponsive.   When in aeroplane mode the computer never crashes when connected to network via ethernet card, but it would be helpful to get Wifi working correctly.  According to windows 10 I have the latest driver.  Can anyone advise the best driver to use, where to download it and the version number.   Help please!

I obtained my T400 in November, and notice that the driver for my Intel WiFi Link 5300 wireless adapter is version 12.1.0.14 from 8/28/08. On the Intel Web site, I've noticed that the driver was upgraded to 12.1.2.1 on 11/24/08: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=3062&DwnldID=17163&strOSs=... Are we permitted to install the latest driver (including the Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility for Windows Vista, or does this interfere with ThinkVantage Wireless Detection, etc.), or do we have to wait to see if Lenovo certifies this version? Thanks in advance,Mike

Two day ago I used ThinkVantage SYstem Update and installed Intel Wifi link driver (ver 13.01.1000). But since then my computer was randomly cut off internet connection, and the wireless signal strength icon on the system tray indicated no nearby wireless network. And then it powered off the wireless connection. Whatever I do, I cannot re-power on the wireless (I used Access Connection to power on the 802.11 wireless radio, but it could not be turned on and nothing happened) unless I restart the computer. I thought it might be the router that malfunctioned as this problem never happened before. But after I checked the router and used another notebook to test wireless connection, I was sure the router ran very well. Then I re-installed the TVT Access Connection (ver 5.61) and the Intel WIFI Link Driver (ver 13.01.1000) but the problem remained. Could anybody give a possible solution?  I also noticed on Lenovo's website, the Intel wireless card driver for T61 is v13.00.0000 Windows Vista 23 Oct 2009. It's lower than what I have now. Could that be the cause? My ThinkPad T61 has the following configuration:Model: T61 8897CTOOS: WinVista Home Basic SP2 32bitLanguage: ENWireless Card: Intel 3945 ABGWireless Card Driver: 13.1.1.1 (previous one was 13.0.0.0)TVT Access Connection: 5.61

Answer:New Intel WIFI Link Driver Randomly cut off Internet Connection

Hi carlven,Anytime when wireless driver is updated, Access Connections also needs to be reistalled.Do this, first uninstall your wireless driver and access connections, thereafter reboot your system. Then install wireless driver first, again reboot, subsequently install access connections, reboot again. When installing any lenovo driver manually, keep in mind they first extract themselves to a default location in C:\Drivers..., second .exe setup must be run from that location to successfully install the drivers.Hope it helps.

Just before the July 29 deadline I updated my Lenovo G40 IdeaPad to Win 10.
Everything appeared fine except that I couldn't get a WiFi link!
Eventually Lenovo "support" advised that there was no available WiFi driver for the G480.
Desperately, I had to uninstall Win 10 and revert to Win 8.1.
Can anyone advise on this. I find it somewhat unbelievable that there isn't a driver for the G480 model - it's not that old.
If anyone can help, I also need advice on how to update to Win 10 beyond the July 29th boundary

You may be able to get one directly from the hardware manufacturer or via Windows update. I have an old Ralink RT3090 and they offered a Win 10 driver update and so did Windows Update. An alternative would be to buy a 3rd party USB wireless network adapter that supports Windows 10. I am using a TP-Link T1U (5G only) adapter but I wouldn't recommend it as it has some stability issues.

did you download the Lenovo driver, or did you down load the driver from Intel? Lenovo writes alot of their own drivers for things like wifi cards, its possible that by downloading Intel's driver, it isn't compatable with thinkpads.

I recently purchased Alien Isolation, which is a brand new game recently released. I installed the game and was able to start the game. However, I get blank screen at the game start up. I tried to update the videocard through ATI website. It was updated to 14.1 or something. Once the computer was restarted ( as required after a new videocard driver was installed). I was able to play the game just fine. However, after I turned off my computer, I could no longer start my computer. I would get blue screen message everytimes while loading the windows 7 main page. I opened safe mode and rolled back the graphic card driver. I am able to use the computer but I am not able to play the game. The videocard ATI 5730 is powerful enough to play the game. I am currently not able to play the game because of the outdated viderocard driver. What is possible solution for this? Any help would be appreciated.

I am Helping a friend with her dell vostro 1000 notebook which had vista home basic installed from the manufacturer, needless to say she hated it and I have been trying to avoid vista altogether but i got a crash course. After trying to fix the auto updating problem with vista we decided to reformat with XP sp3 pro. Went to dell website and got all drivers. No audio. Driver will no install or uninstall. Computer works great now faster than before of course. But I would like to get the audio working. any ideas. I looked at dell website for audio drivers and they only offer one download and it is the same weather your running XP or Vista. I installed the chipset and that worked fine. Also when I updated the computer the one update that wont install is the audio driver. I am sure this is an easy fix but I am only a newer geek. still have alot to learn.

Thank you...DD

Answer:Audio driver problem with dell vostro 1000

Try downloading and installing KB888111 which is the Microsoft Unified Audio Architecture update for hi-def audio drivers. It may not be compatible with SP3, so you may need to follow musksnipe's steps in this thread to 'trick' your PC into thinking that SP2 is installed temporarily....
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

I have a laptop with an Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN nic

1) Shows up in Device manager as healthy
2) Has latest driver as per manufacturer (hp elitebook 6930p) running win2008R2 server.
3) keyboard wifi indicator lites up
4) Device shows up as active in networking devices

however, I cannot see any wireless ssid's to associate with.
I checked mfg web site for latest drivers and the intel web set for the adapter itself. After many downloads of win8 and win7 driver bundles (no support for win2008r2 apparently) I have not found a solution yielding a fix. I did stumble across a Intel proset/Wireless wifi software utility manual diagnostic tool v15.6.0.0. When it runs, i get:

"Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver"

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 15:57:12,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Hardware Test
- Result : Failed, Summary : Wireless Hardware is not bound to transport driver

With the same tool i can run it manually on just selecetd tests (hardware, driver, radio, scan, associate, auth, signal, ping)
All of them fail (as expected except the driver test:

To be exact:
#Event,Source,Time,Error Severity,Domain,User,Description
1,Manual Diagnostic,04/12/2013 16:00:07,Warning,Unknown,Administrator,Driver Test
- Result : Passed, Summary : Driver is loaded. NETwNs64 Version :14.3.2.1

The driver test passes, just not the link to the transport apparently. Not sure how to fix this.

Hi everyone! I own the Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 laptop for 2-3 years and I have several troubles with WiFi since the time I have upgraded to Windows 10 months ago, but it has became quite urgent since the new year. After re/starting laptop or start from the sleep mode, I got disconnected. First half hour I have to deal with highly volatile and unstable connection trying to switch some settings with devmgmt.msc Well, what happens:WiFi turning on/off randomly, the same with WiFi driver (WiFi icon is replaced with PC plugin with red cross)The WiFi turning on/off button randomly disables or dissapears at allIf WiFi is turned on, no networks are foundIf I finally connect to a network, the connection becomes limited or disables in a momentThe WiFi panel has unpredictable behaviour, such as changing height to 100px approximately and I have to scroll, or starts connecting to a network even it's not checked to connect automaticallyWhenever the connection is lost or limited, the Google Chrome freezes and stops responding (its default behaviour?)What I have tried? As I have mentioned above, the playing with devmgmt.msc gives me usually a solution in lots of minutes, I have found on this website the advices about switching the 802.11n Channel from 20MHz to Automatically and vice versa. Sometimes works temporarily, sometimes for the rest of the day (or until I shut the laptop down, the following day my struggles go on..)Turning the WiFi off and on, but I am afraid ... Read more

Question: Ideapad y560 Help

Ya, I'm not sure what's wrong with my laptop. It's a y560 with core i7 and 4gb of ram. When I play games on it, it lags a lot (my desktop which is a lot worse than the laptop can run the games way better than the laptop does) and after a while the screen will go black, then it will go back on but be so laggy that the mouse won't move and it will keep doing this until i hold the power button to turn it off. Also, every once in a while the mouse gets really big and will usually stay like that until i turn the laptop off. Also, i tried downloading a video driver driver for the laptop off of lenovo's website and this is what happens: http://img80.imageshack.us/i/messup1.png/First it does that while extracting the files, and it doesn't finish extracting. It always stops at f.jpg.http://img197.imageshack.us/i/messup2.png/Then it does this after i press install.  If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Ideapad y560 Help

download the most recent amd video card drive from the lenovo support site, install it, and problem will be gone...

Question: IdeaPad Y560

I can get the IdeaPad Y560 Laptop - 06462AU for $940 +tax, but I'm having a lot of trouble deciding whether I should buy the Y460 for $890 or the Y560 which has an i7-720qm and 7200rpm hard drive, better for the money. I am leaning towards the Y460 only because the Y560 seems to have a number of problems.  Any suggestions?

Answer:IdeaPad Y560

I don't know which Y460 you're talking about but I'll assume you're going for the best one (063346U)Y460 vs Y560:*RAM: 1066Mhz vs 1333MhzYou won't feel any difference *CPU: Core? i5-520M vs Core? i7-720QMCinebench score: 6645 vs 8870!http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i5-520M-Notebook-Processor.23749.0.htmlhttp://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-720QM-Notebook-Processor.23035.0.html Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650  vs ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730PCMark Vantage - Gaming Score: 4455 vs 6403!http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5650.23697.0.htmlhttp://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5730.23825.0.html The performance difference will be absolutely great. I have a 06462AU myself, just got it this week. I don't have any problems with it. Although I'm aware that a lot of people complained about issues (mostly screen). In my opinion: this performace difference is worth the risk

http://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/viewtopic.php?t=2614938&highlight=This is a link to a forum "Electroda.pl"Where i posted my problem whit ddr frequency, the answer was, that the cpu is blocking my ddr's for maximum speed, why the heck u ppl use procesors like that ?!? Lenovo KL3 motherboard support up to 16 gb 1333 mhz ram, but cpu is blockin it to 1066mhz.

Answer:Ideapad Y560, ram frequency.

hi Zecik86,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Lenovo Y560 was released with variety of Model configuration such as CPU Configurations
from Minimum configuration to Maximum Configuration for Consumer Choice.

And on Lenovo Reference Manual they indicated that specific detail for consumer use
http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/lipwbook.pdf

also on Intel's website they indicated that on the Memory spec section
IntelŪ Core? i5
IntelŪ Core? i7

If you will check Lenovo's reference manual it's the i7 Proc model I guess is what you should have purchased as it supports up to 1333 Mhz.

Best Regards
Solid Cruver

Can you clarify? Does it say "Plugged in - Not Charging"? If so, your battery may need replacement.
