Z580 Touchpad issues on Windows 8.1

Question: Z580 Touchpad issues on Windows 8.1

I recently upgraded my Z580 to Windows 8.1 x64 from Windows 8x64 Some Windows 8.1 drivers work, for some things I had to use Windows 8 drivers But the touchpad isn't registering a two finger click as a right click on either of the driversIt used to work fine on Windows 8 but I have to use the button to right click which is uncomfortableTwo finger scrolling works fine, pinch zoom gesture works fine, even Windows 8 screen edge gestures work perfectly Anyone else with the same issues or any know-how on how to solve this problem ???

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, So I bought a Z580 Ideapad a few days ago, and i'm loving it except for one thing thats bugging me. The touchpad. It doesn't feel like it has any flow or as if I have full control. It randomly scrolls and I don't even know how i'm doing it, doesn't move the cursor exactly where I want it to go, occasionally remains unresponive for about a second, and then sometimes jumps around, and i've also noticed I can't move the cursor if i'm pressing a key. I've been reading about a few issues with the Snaptics touchpad but they range from not working at all, to compatibilty issues regarding Windows 8 and gestures. I've also come across a few driver downloads, but they either do nothing, or the cautious side of me doesn't trust them because they're unheard of. In addition, i've read that Win 8 ( which is what i'm using) is new so these problems might be fixed in time. It frustrates me that I love the laptop but the touchpad is driving me insane! I don't really care for the gestures for zooming, rotating or whatever, I just want the basic touchpad to actually work. Is their any solution to this, or is this just how the touchpad is? Thanks!

Lenovo Ideapad Z580 for about 2 weeks ago and whilst I really like it there are a few problems with it. Certain keys on the keyboard only work intermittently, namely the 'a' the 'o' and the 'e' and occasionally other keys too. This makes typing a real problem as I have to continually keep going back to correct things. I'm a proficient typist and haven't experienced this type of problem before on any other machine. Also the touchpad is so sensitive it keeps activating icons when it passes over them without any need to click. It jumps the pointer to another part of the document and sets off on it's own journey without any input from me! It also keeps swiping in the charms bar then the Start window when I'm in the middle of working ? REALLY annoying! Any ideas please? I don't want to have to take it back as 'not fit for purpose' if it's just a simple thing to correct. Thanks

Answer:Z580 touchpad and keyboard issues

hi hamchris,

Welcome to the Forums.

Regarding the issues that you're experiencing:
1. Try to boot in Safe Mode and observe if the keys on the keyboard only work intermittently
    - if it is, there's most likely a problem with the keyboard and you need to send it for service).
    - if all of the keys work ok, perform a clean boot and observe it in normal mode

2. The touch sensitivity is probably activating the double tapping feature, try to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad by navigating to Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse

For Synaptics Touchpad:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
For ELAN Touchpad:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
3. The Edge Swipe gesture is most likely trigerring the charms bar, check this thread on how to turn off the touchpad gestures.

Hope this helps

Hi, My laptop has had certain issues since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. - When I click the x button in a window using the left click button on the pad, sometimes the window behind it closes as well. I tried the double click test in mouse settings and it doesn't seem like a double click is registering. - Sometimes when I open a new window in Firefox, it switches back to a previous window for no reason after a few seconds. This could be a software issue but I haven't experienced it outside of this computer. I've tried disabling add-ons. - The trackpad has twice stopped working completely. The first time was for a minute. The second time was for much longer. I restored the computer to factory settings and it still didn't work. The next day it was working. I've tried installing the latest touchpad drivers from both Lenovo and Synaptics and it didn't help. I realize these problems are all over the place and might be unrelated, but I don't know how else to present them. I appreciate any input.

I am having real issues with my Lenovo Z580 laptop touchpad. The touchpad functions normally, but freezes unexpectedly. I have to click ALT + Tab and change the window for it to work again. I have removed and re-installed the drivers and this has had no impact.  It is really frustrating as it is becoming more and more regular and also the keyboard seems to be having minor issues too. If anyone can help it would be most appreciated Thanks, Will

Answer:Ideapad Z580 - touchpad / keyboard issues

hi Will,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to check

Curious, if you don't re-install the Touchpad driver from the lenovo website and let Windows use a generic driver, are you still getting freezing issues while using the Touchpad?

If you have the Synaptics touchpad and it works fine with the generic driver then the problem is likey with the driver. Try to install this driver directly from the Synaptics website:

Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v17.0.19
118.1 MB zip

If the freezing issue still occur even with a generic touchpad driver then it's likely that the Touchpad is showing signs of imminent failure. In this case, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings.

As for the keyboard, are some of the keys not working?
 - If some of the keyboard keys are intermittently working then this is likely a keyboard failure and I recommend you report this also when you contact lenovo.

Just before Christmas took delivery of my shiny new ideapad z580 running windows 8. I will explain everything first and see where we get.I use this in my home studio and connect a Rane SL1 usb souncard through it and then use Serato or Virtual DJ and timecodes through the CD players. After installing the drivers and plugging in the USB SL1, the touchpad came to a virtual stop. Unplug USB and it starts moving again.I then tried option 2, which was to plug in a 3.5 stereo jack into the audio output and connect this to a mixer. Sound works fine, but again the touchpad comes to a virtual halt. I then left this for an hour and when i came back the touchpad was working. Unplug it and put it back in, then touchpad goes back to dead slow or stop. I thought it may have been that the drivers for my USB SL1 controller where not Windows 8 compatible and as these are not available yet, I went and bought a Hercules USB soundcard, which comes with Windows 8 Drivers. Plugged this in all excited, only to find that the touchpad freezes or moves very slowly when I do. Unplug and the touchpad moves freely. Leave it for an hour and again the touchpad moves freely and everything works. I have tried it in both USB3 and USB2 ports. The only thing I have not tried is using an external mouse. I wrote today as I have seen lots of people saying the same about the Touchpad. Mine is the Synaptics one. I have also read somewhere that the easy option is to use the windows 8 drivers.... Read more

Look for a snaptics Software and Lenovo Energy Management
and uninstall those two

Now download and install these drivers

Synaptics Touchpad Driver0mtp05w8.exe90.5MB

Lenovo Energy Managementem8.0.2.3.exe45.4MB

Hello, my Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 runs on a Windows 7.  Often times, I have to use the F5 button in the work that I do, and I notice when I hit that button repeatedly, my touchpad freezes.  The mouse stays where it's at, and I have to restart my computer to get it to work again.  I looked online, and see people saying to look for the mouse icon on either F7 or F9, but I don't see that on my keyboard.  I also have seen people talking about hitting a button to disable it on accident, but there is no such button by or near my touchpad.  It's extremely frusterating.  Can you help me?  Thanks.

There is also no zooming and rotating feature anymore.  I downloaded the windows 8 driver from the lenovo website, but it says that I need the 64bit driver for my laptop.  According to the lenovo download it was for both 32 and 64bit.  How can I get the touchpad functions back?

Hi there guys, got a relatively new z580 with windows 8 - only a few months old. Ever since the beginning i had trouble with the so called "intelligent" touchpad - it used to crash every now and then and a simple restart would do the trick. I have tried a lot of drivers and a lot of updates, but none seemed to resolve the issue. Nowadays even restarting the laptop does not help - touchpad software does not even strart.Would be great if someone could give me a tip,if something has worked for you.

I own a Ideapad Z580, and upgraded to Windows 8 yesterday. I noticed that the Intelligent Touchpad stopped working after the upgrade. I installed the appropriate driver, Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380/Z480/Z580, hoping it'd work, but to no avail. I also tried reinstalling/overwriting my existing 64-bit driver when prompted by my system to do so.The scrolling, pinching, and sideways scrolling do not work at all; it is quite frustrating. Please help.

Hi I am the somewhat proud owner of an ideapad z580.I say somewhat due to having major issues with whilst my young daughter is playing games on it, the slightest touch of the touchpad near the middle left and the window changes to either another web page or whatever I had previously open.I am aware myself how to use this function, but as my daughter and wife are moaning at me, I thought id seek advice..Is this problem down to my laptop, or is it down to the fact that the laptop came pre-installed with windows 8?I have tried all the settings re edge motion etc and nothing works...If someone could help, that would be great as I think if it is Windows 8 I may go and purchase Windows 7 which was fine on my old laptop..  Thanks Stevie

Hi! I have a Lenovo Z580 i5, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GT 630M.  I was running Windows 7 with good 5-6 hours battery but I've upgraded to Windows 8 (64bit) and ever since I'd be lucky to get even 1-2 hours running on battery. I've tried upgrading all of the drivers on the Lenovo site and the energy management is set for longest battery life, I can't get to the bottom of why it is happening. It seems the only option is to wipe the system and reinstall Windows 8 from scratch but I'd really rather not do that if possible. Any advice?

I dont know how you were getting 5-6 were you using a word processor with no wifi and low brightness, because i only get 3h34m on Win7 according to battery bar on my z580 just browsing the internet, i have only a 6 cell battery do you have a 9 or 12 cell??? John.

Greetings! I purchased a Lenovo Z580 laptop and got the hard drive replaced by a samsung 830 series SSD (128GB) with a fresh W7 install, the store put the 750GB harddrive into an external enclosure and I all this was at a very neat price. The laptop was awesome. But for the battery. From day one i had issues of battery lasting only 1.5 to 2 hours on a full charge. I did the following checks:1. Made sure all device drivers were installed from Lenovo website (or from hard drive OEM folder, whichever were latest). I did this first because the SSD had a fresh W7 install.2. Made sure all windows updates were installed3. Levono power management was set for Battery Fully Charged Mode and not Battery protection mode (where battery capacity is limited to, well, less than 100%) Problem was unresolved. I called the store and they gave me a new battery, no questions asked. Din't fix the problem. Then they gave me a new laptop, with the same SSD put in. Didn't work. This was two weeks into buying the laptop. I asked them to put the old 750GB HDD in thinking maybe its the SSD. Didn't fix the problem. (At this stage the laptop was as good as out of the box and I was sure SSD didnt cause the problem). I dont want to ask for money back because I need exactly the configuration present in this laptop, and at the price I got it, it's not possible (at least in The Netherlands). Also, it's sold out. Aside from this issue, the laptop is perfect. Meanwhile, I ran the pow... Read more

Has anyone who's been experiencing networking issues on 8.1 managed to fix them yet? I have a lenovo z580 that came preinstalled with windows 8I could use wired or wireless connection perfectly on win 8. I then upgraded to 8.1, had so many networking issues I downgraded to win 7. On win 7 it worked perfectly again (used it for 8 months with no issue). Dual boot win 7 alongside various distros of linux, after some issues with drivers at the beginning linux also works perfectly. Decided to give windows 8 another go yesterday. Clean installed windows 8 (hard drive reformatted), networking is working perfectly. Updated to 8.1 and it has limited connectivity on wifi immediately, installing the latest drivers from lenovo website, does NOT fix the issue, (had to use hp drivers to get any internet connection at all.) So with the new wireless drivers it only half works, I can use the internet but I get constant time-outs and disconnects on any website (again everything worked perfectly on win8 and win7), even typing this I'm getting errors as the page updates. If I ping my own router you will get succesful replys with occasional timeouts (between 10% and 20% of packets are lost) I have the exact same problem when using a wired connection. I can see from other forum topics this issue is affecting many lenovo products, and many from other manufacturers as well. Does anyone have a solution? Do Lenovo have a solution? EDIT&n... Read more

hi hanginghelmet,

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

Cah you try to:

1. Uninstall the current Touchpad driver from the Control Panel (large icon view) and reboot.
2. Download and install the newest Synaptics Touchpad driver from the Synaptics Website or from the lenovo website.and reboot
3. Adjust the Palm / Touch ensitivity and EdgeMotion / Edge Swipe under the Synaptics touchpad settings.

If you get the same problem, check this article on how to disable the charms bar from being accessed through the mouse pointer.

I have a relatively new Z580 (less than a month old) and the touchpad is having issues already. I've rarely used it because I prefer the mouse but it's useful for when I don't bring my mouse with me.The issue is that it's completely unresponsive unless the left key at the bottom is pushed down. So I can use it while holding down the left key, but of course it will highlight, drag, etc.. I did not have this issue when I first bought it; it probably only started a few days ago. UPDATE: Ok, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. During that I was testing the touchpad and seeing if it worked. After some clicking, it started working normally again. Any ideas what caused this problem? I would like to avoid it in the future

I am suspecting the issue is caused by some driver files which may be missing or corrupted
But after reinstalling it has started working properly

Also I would suggest that you should update your system Windows, Drivers & Bios so that you don?t face such issues in future

Please let us know if you have any further question.
Hope This Helps
Cheers!!!

Hello,3 weeks ago I bought a new ideapad z580(i5/4GB RAM/nvidia 635M/Win8).So far I have been satisfied with it except for something that kinda irritates me.The touchpad got a discolored circle in the middle after around 1 week of light usage.I'm not sure if it's actual discolortion or not as it's mostly visible at an angle. Here's a pic: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=288qamf&s=5#.UlM1moZd-3w

Answer:discolored touchpad on my Z580 ?

Hi shadyx,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m glad to inform you that this is not the discoloration of the Touchpad, as it takes pressure on the same spot again and again, it forms an angle which sometime disappears. Hence you need not worry this is not an issue.

Hi all,I just got a z580 but I am noticing that the touchpad is not so smooth. am i the only one?  The pointer can skip from one end to the other at time and when I am moving the pointer is doesn't have a natural flow. What I do notice is that when my thumb is hovering on the left click, the touchpad senses both my finger (the one actually it) and the thumb - causing it to conflict. anyway in the settings to select the region of the two clicks to not be detected but only for clicking? hope that made sense i would hate to get rid of the laptop on something so minor but it's starting to annoy me that i can keep my thumb on the click for quicker selection. thanks for any help

Hi, Last night my touchpad just died on me (It's less than 3 months old). First I just thought it has frozen and would snap back as it did an hour before but it didn't. Have tried to download the Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380, Z480, Z580 but that doesn't help at all. Not sure it actually installed it correctly. The installation doesn't seem to go to compilation and the progress box disappears halfway through the install.  Read on an other thread here that you needed to uninstall the Synaptics software but that didn't help. The software did reappear after startup (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Touch-pad-not-working-Z580/td-p/1201254). According to that thread you need to remove it from the devise manager too, but I can't find anything relating to that in the devise manager. Tried this thread's solution too but to no avail. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/z580-touchpad-not-working-properly-with-wi.... That just failed full stop. I could at one point today see a levono pointing device in the drive manager but that has now disappeared. It said the following: :Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. That entry has now vanished. I have also reverted the system to a restorepoint when it worked but that didn't help.&nb... Hi, I've look for some posts searching for a fix, but I have not find the solution for this. (I'm spanish, so I'll try my best for translate the windows error as accurate as I can... sorry if I make some mistakes)

I've formatted my Z580 and reinstalled Windows 8.1 Pro. Everything fine:

-Downloaded drivers (wifi, card reader, bluetooth, hd camera...)
-Updated windows...

Everything was working fine, but suddenly my touchpad gestures stopped working, and only was working normal clicks.

I went to Control Panel -> Mouse for look which drivers was installed, and windows error suddenly appear: "Windows can not conect to Synaptics device, please delete the driver... bla bla bla." I deleted it and reinstalled again, but the error still remain. I tried to update by Control Panel -> Mouse -> Update Device and suddenly my mouse dissapeared of the screen and stop working the mouse, no moving, no clicks and not showing the pointer. So I plug and USB mouse and everything ok, but I want my touchpad back with the gestures working at leat working normal.

┐What can I do? I've tried a lot of things but nothing worked properly :/

Note: I've no restoring partition cuz I installed an SSD, so I can not backup to factory status.

Thanks for all of you!

Answer:Z580 Touchpad totally NOT working

Try to install the chipset driver and imei driver if applicable. Go to device manager and try to delete the touchpad driver. If presented with a delete option select ok. Shut down and remove your usb mouse to avoid the system installing the driver for it. Start the unit and examine what is installed in the device manager for your touchpad. Try installing the correct touchpad driver.

Hi everyone, I recently bought a Lenovo Z580 with Windows 8 cheaply because it was ex-display. The touchpad hasn't worked properly since, and I thought it was because of the display use but turns out from googling that many other people experience this problem. I went by the advice on these posts and reinstalled both Synaptics and the touchpad drivers. After this the touchpad worked, but now every time I boot up the Intelligent Touchpad stops responding and whites out my desktop. Really can't find a solution online- anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I use a mouse and really would like to disable the touchpad completely. have tried disabling Synaptics, uninstalling Synaptics, tried all the Mouse options in CP, looked in the BIOS (no options there), decreasing sensitivity etc. (I've looked this up lots before). Right now I have card taped across it to help in case I forget to press Fn+F6 after it mysteriously re-enables after rewaking. The card just minimises potential disasters but it's a poor solution and doesn't stop clicking - I often involuntarily palm-press it. The card also acts as a mousepad - it's a necessary personal preference (ok). Fn+F6 is the only solution I have but is there anything better - I can see this causing a disaster on PokerStars one day! As I say, I've looked this up before and found it's a common complaint - any chance of a driver update?

Answer:Any way to disable the Z580 touchpad completely?

hi VeryTall,

If you already checked the touchpad settings below and sometimes you forget to press Fn+F6 to disable the touchpad then you need to look under the hood to permanently disable the device.

SynapticsSpoiler (Highlight to read)
 ELANSpoiler (Highlight to read)
To permanently disable the Touchpad, you need to:
1. Remove the keyboard (follow page 46 of the hardware maintenance manual)
2. Disconnect the Touchpad Cable  and reconnect the keyboard

Until an updated driver / BIOS is released that has a feature to disable the Touchpad, this will be the alternative in getting rid of the touchpad permanently.

Hope this helps

I've been having problems with the touchpad for a while now, I'm not quite sure if they're are software or hardware related.  I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64bitSynaptic Touchpad Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380, Z480, Z580 Version 16.2.10.5 The Synaptic Pointing device will sometimes just stop working altogether. For the last 30 minutes it was displaying on the taskbar that there was pressure being applied to the center and I had no control over the mouse at all. I rebooted several times and it was still displaying that there was pressure being applied to the touchpad. After leaving it for a little while it seems to have fixed it self and worked now, but this has happened on multiple occasions since my purchase. One small thing I noticed was that lots of the time when the touchpad isn't responsive I'm still able to use the left and right click. I'm also able to move my finger around where the left and right click buttons are and it picks up my movement, however, if I try that on the main section of the trackpad it does not respond.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi I have a windows8 z580 I purchased in December 2012. The touchpad has never been great on it but recently it semed to be getting worse and worse so I looked at a few of theposts here and attempted to check out the synaptics driver setting... So if I go to the control panel -> Mouse -> device settings tab -> select synaptics clickpad v8.1 -> click settings... Then I get a windows error "Windows Shell Common DLL has stopped working"!!  So I downloaded the current synaptics driver from the lenovo product support matrix and installed it... No change at all still crashes windows DLL.... What can I do to fix this? Thanks UPDATE: Have run driver verifier on the two synaptics drivers (smb & synpt) with no badness reported...

Answer:Z580 Synaptics touchpad app keeps crashing

Folks, is there no solution to this? Has nobody else out ther got a correctly working windows 8 z580 touchpad?!?! If so what version of the driver are you running even? The most recent one from the lenovo website? Or an older one? Or one from synaptics? I did search thte forums on this before posting, but nearly every single z580 trackpad issue I found was solved by adjusting the synaptics settings... my problem is that this very settings application is what is causing the problem! I.E. A serious error BEFORE the settings application even launches!! Thanks P.S. I have ahad another mouse device (wireless mouse) plugged into the laptop. As I mentioned in my intial post update, I ran driver-verifier and there seemed to be no issue with driver interactions as far as I could tell. The wireless mouse also just seems to be using a standard Microsoft driver, so even less likely to be causing the problems I would have thought...is that correct? I've thought about uninstalling the synaptics driver and doing a clean reinstall, but to be able to do that I'd have to have the wireless mouse plugged in anyway, so any conflict that hasn't been discovered most likely wouldnt be resolved...

Answer:Changing touchpad of ideapad Z580

hi monish,

Welcome to the Forums!

Regarding your questions:
1. Yes, the Touchpad on the Ideapad Z580 is replaceable and you will need to change the Upper Case (Top Cover) and the TP Function Board.

Link to picture

If the Touchpad is still functional, you just need to replace the Upper Case (Top Cover).

2. As per page 86 of the hardware maintenance manual, there's no black Upper Case (Top Cover) where the Touchpad is embedded. Grey would be closest one that you can get. It's recommended that you use spare parts in the hardware maintenance manual for best compatibility.

Check these items as a reference

Hi all, I bought my z580 a couple of weeks ago and since then have been having problems with the touchpad. Sometimes the cursor freezes on screen and I have tap the touch pad repeadly and quite hard to get it going again. It frequently opens the charms bar and/or a little battery life/time and date window. It also keeps switching between full screen and normal. Really, really irritating. Would be very obliged to anyone who can help. I've tried installing the lastest drivers for the touchpad but so far no success.

Answer:Problems with touchpad - idea pad z580

1. The Synaptics ClickPad used on the Z580 is one of the worst touchpads in existence. I've owned lots of laptops, used even more at work, and this one is really bad when it comes to the issues you describe. 2. If you set the PALM CHECK to the MINIMUM, the Keyboard will respond INSTANTLY and SIMULTANEOUSLY while you use the touchpad. Otherwise!!! - the keyboard or the touchpad will have a slight period where it WILL NOT RESPOND at ALL!!! >.< Thus, move the mouse, wait, use the keyboard when PALM CHECK is anything higher than mimimum. 3. You can adjust the touch sensitivity and palm check to help reduce the typos you get - usually, slide palm check up just before the red zone, and bring touch sensitivity up a few notches from minimum. 4. CAN'T BELIEVE Lenovo would ship such a poor touchpad with the Z580!?!? It's really horrible! All of the other touchpads (eg. Macbook Pro, Toshiba Satellite, HPs) on laptops of late all work perfectly fine without the stuttering, typos, etc. I also experience. Even going from a 2006 era Macbook Pro to this laptop makes me feel there's something seriously wrong with the touchpad.... but it's what everyone else is reporting.

My touchpad on my laptop has recently stopped working. I am unable to move the cursor but can usually click. The pressure graph and mood pad usually recognize that there is pressure on the pad but the cursor still doesn't move. I have tried uninstalling the synaptic driver and reinstalling it but it still won't work. I can sometimes get the cursor to move by using the very bottom of the touchpad (over the buttons) but it's not really helpful. Is there anything else I should try?  Thanks

Answer:Ideapad Z580 touchpad not working

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Uninstalling the driver and then installing a fresh copy is usually the first fix.  If that didn't work then try reseting the BIOS just to rule out a possible hardware conflict.  To do the reset, do this......1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If the reset didn't resolve the problem then your problem is most likely hardware related.  I would suggest you contact Lenovo Support for additional service especially if your warranty is still active.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

Hey all Just a question about the touchpad on the laptop I recently purchased:I noticed that the touchpad buttons were integrated to the the rest of the touchpad. Whilst I am aware that this does wonders for space, I wanted to ask if there was any way that I could reserve that area of the touchpad for just the button function? The annoyances that come from the touchpad detecting my finger on the button (as it normally is) is a lot more annoying that I thought it would be. Is there any way to customise those settings? Thanks in advance

I fail to understand why on a laptop (which has no touchscreen) why you would want to have the swipe gestures?

Surely most folks don't look at the touchpad in use, so it is often that one starts off to the right (especially when the pad is off centre), and it is natural to move to the left to find where one wants to start - hey presto the charms bar opens, and if you're not carefull all sorts of events occur which you really don't want.

Any way on my Lenovo Z580 with synaptics 8.1 we have the worst of both worlds - there is no easy option in the Synaptics settings to turn off the gestures, so the option is to do registry editing to the key TouchPadPS2_3 - I have amended the Active Type dwords from 2 to 0. However there is a side effect of this.

When booting, there is now a delay till the process finishes - we now get blue circular processes next to the pointer for approx 40 seconds.

Does anyone know what other edits we need to make to remove this delay?

Here is the registry for the right edgepull:

Hi! First of all, sorry for my English, I'm still learning  The touchpad of my z580 seems to be dead when the charger is connected to the laptop, even when the charger is not plugged! But if I touch the non-touchpad surface of the laptop with my wrist at the same time that I'm touching the touchpad,it works fluently. The same if the charger is not connected to the laptop I'm pretty sure that this is a physically problem with the laptop instead of a problem with the drivers... Is issue this happening to someone more? Thanks!

Hi deuve82,

There are touchpad issue threads for the Z580 pointing to a resolution by reinstalling the touchpad drivers.  You might as well try uninstalling and reinstalling the touchpad drivers for your Z580.

Here are the driver links for Windows 7 and Windows 8, just download the corresponding driver for your operating system.

If uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers does not resolve your issue then we have definitely isolated the software issue. From your description of the problem, were you applying a bit of pressure while touching the non touchpad surface of the laptop with your wrist?  If this is the case, and doing so makes the touchpad works then it definitely points to a physical problem.

If the sytem is still within warranty you may need to have the laptop serviced.  You will have to contact the support center in your area.  Please see link for the Support phone list.

So I just recently bought a Lenovo Z580 i7 with windows 8 pre installed on it. My touchpad scrolling works for a little while whenever i restart my computer, but then it just stops working completely which is really frustrating. I've uninstalled and reintalled the synaptics driver multiple times, but the same problem keeps reoccuring. Anyone having the same issues/ have figured out a solution? Help please! this issue is making me hate switching over from my macbook.

Answer:Lenovo z580 touchpad driver problems.

Did you install the drivers from your D drive or did you download them from lenovo's site? I had the same or similar problem on my y580 and I just kept trying different places to get the drivers until I got one that works well. Still haven't gotten the two finger tap for right click to work quite right yet though. Online you're looking for synaptics toupad drivers for your Z580

I bought an ideapad Z580 towards the end of last year and have had awful trouble with the gestures with the touchpad. Swiping from the left side of the trackpad to the right switches back to something you were doing before is my main issue as it crashes my games continually when I accidentally catch it. I have been to control panel>mouse>settings>synaptics settings stuff and I can't find a 'turn off gestures' button... I have also posted a thread in the Microsoft Forum as its a main Windows 8 feature but they only suggest coming here for an answer. I just want my trackpad to act like a normal trackpad without the fanciness. Any help will be appreciated.

Option 2:
Disable the Hot Corners (Charms Bar, Start Screen Thumbnail, App Switch List)

Answer:Inteligent touchpad not working in Ideapad z580 (1 TB , i3 , 8gb)

hi amendhe,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your questions:

1. Check this link for the Lenovo Z580 Drivers as this has all the drivers that you require.

2. If you have deleted the recovery partition, the One Key Recovery (NOVO) button will no longer and is unrecoverable. However, check this site as it has instructions that you can try on how to restore One key Recovery function after changing partition size

3. As Intel Intergrated graphics automatically allocates video memory, check this Graphics Memory FAQ for Windows

Hope this helps

Hi, Recently I purchased a Lenovo product, the Idea pad z580. I have a number of issues. I would really appreciate answers. The thermal management doesn't does not seem to work. Firstly it starts up, I see the interface. I can click around etc, change the power options to power saving, balanced or performance, however, when I don't have the battery plugged in,(Running off battery not AC adapter) none of those options seems to actually take affect, I load of Guildwars 2, and it lags quite badly but I get stable temperatures of 62 degrees. I also see that the core clocks of the Graphics card are under clocked, and changing to performance mode makes no difference, Now, If I plug the laptop in, (Running from AC adapter) it seems the laptop only then bumps up to performance mode. Games start up, laptop reaches a max temp of 93 degrees for the GPU. I want to know how I can fix this issue? If the laptop is plugged in, why can I not run it as if it were on balance mode. and if its unplugged why cant I run it on performance mode. (Please not that if I put the EM to performance mode, the needles doesnt change to balance mode when unplugged, it stays on performance mode, but runs as if its on balance mode, and visa versa). Another thing, if I press the touch button (moon with star above) at the top of my laionsptop I get different thermal options, however the only option I can select and that makes any audable or visual difference is the dust removal. ... Do you have an Nvidia graphics card, or just the Intel HD4000 in your CPU. If you have an Nvidia, try turning it off in the bios under optimius, and see what your temps are like, upto 90c is acceptable while gaming but no higher John.

hi kimo_land,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try to:

1. Make sure you use the original 65W 20V/3.25A or 90W 20V4.5A AC adapter that came with the unit.

2. Plug the AC adapter in another wall outlet in your house (preferrably another side of the house) - if this works, the original wall outlet that you used before when you got the issue may not be properly grounded.

3. Perform a power drain by:a turning the PC OFF. Remove the battery & AC adapter then hold the power button for 30secs. When done, reinsert the AC adapter and battery then boot into the BIOS by pressing F2. When inside the BIOS, press F9 to reset default settings and press F10 to save and exit.

4. Update the Touchpad Driver below:

Synaptics Touchpad Driver       Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Cypress)

Hi, I'm having a problem with the left-click on my Z580. The trackpad and right-click continue working fine, but the left-click (and single tap on touchpad, equivalent of left-clicking) suddenly stop working completely. I think both times it happened I was try to highlight some text, so holding the left-click down, so I'm not sure whether that has anything to do with it. It happened yesterday, and again today. Restarting the laptop fixed it both times, but it worries me! Do you think it's a physical problem with the touchpad, or a driver issue? I only bought the laptop in summer  2013, but it was a display model so I guess the touchpad has had more use than most of this age. Still, I thought Lenovos were pretty reliable so hadn't expected a problem so soon. I'm not very knowledgably with the technicalities of computers (but can follow instructions!) so any help would be hugely appreciated as I'm not sure where to start trying to diagnose the issue.

Hi I just got a brand new Z580 and all is well and as expected, except for the touch pad: The touchpad buttons seem to be integrated into the touchpad's touch-enabled part. That means I can move the cursor by moving my finger over the buttons. That's very annoying. The cursor moves when clicking the button, making precise clicks impossibleBut what's worst, while holding my finger on a button, i can no longer move the cursor with another finger! OS is Kubuntu 12.04 LTS EDIT: forgot to ask a question:Is there a way to restrict the touch surface to the part of the touchpad that does NOT have buttons under it?

Answer:Ideapad Z580 touchpad buttons are part of the touch surface

You can adjust your tapzones to ignore the button area.  That helps a bit. Resize the "Tap Zones" to match the right and/or left mouse buttons. Then, go to "Bottom Right/Left action" and select "Button/Zone completely disabled".  After doing that the button areas only function if clicked, but not tapped.

Hi, Like the others, I am having problems with my touchpad.  Let me start by saying the entire computer works excellently on Ubuntu Linux.  My two finger scroll is smooth and multifunctions work fine.  But I go into windows and all of a sudden the touchpad falls apart. I have gotten it somewhat useable by making it as sensitive as possible and dimming down the palm check feature.  Scrolling on anything however is very choppy.  Initiating the 2 finger scroll is a hit or miss and I often have to keep 2 finger scrolling to get it to initiate.  Once scrolling the page moves straight to the bottom very quickly and I have my settings set so it is slow scrolling.  My driver is newly updated to one released by synaptics in November, and it albeit how terrible to touchpad works with it, it is much better than the former. Thanks for any help Dan

Can anyone help please??????????

So prior to the ssd going out the unit was working fine. Now when you install 10 the touchpad and keyboard don?t work at all until you install the Intel driver pack Lenovo has. It updates everything from sound to Ethernet in one installer. After a couple seconds the mouse stops and you have to click the mouse to make it where you can move it again. It does the same after these drivers on a usb mouse without them the usb mouse works perfect.

I have found many people complaining about Lenovo telling them it?s not going to make a updated touchpad driver and there is no option on the Microsoft touchpad drivers (HID compliant device) to allow it to turn off the device to save power. Driver it installs is from 2006 and I cannot find anything newer anywhere.

It?s a Lenovo ideapad 100s. And yes it came originally with 10 it?s not the chrome book model being converted.

Thanks in advance for any help.

After upgrading my Tecra A11-182 (PTSE0E-0LP046GR) to Windows 10, I have issues with the touchpad. The cursor jumps from time to time to other places on the desktop, also in Word 2010. Is there a new driver version for this device? The Windows device manager says that the newest driver is installed. Thank you for your suggestions

Achim

Answer:Tecra A11 Touchpad issues under Windows 10

The cursor is jumping because your palm is making contact with the touchpad while you are typing.

The Touchpad Advanced Settings has an option called "Disable tapping" or "Disable Touchpad while typing".
If you cant find these settings you may need to update the Touchpad driver (Synaptics or Alps) that is compatible with Windows 10.

I upgraded to Windows 10 pretty smoothly, but I'm experieiincing the same problems as others when it comes to using tablet mode etc. My biggest frustration though is that the touchpad no longer consistently supports two-finger scrolling, which is sooo frustrating. Also, edge-swipe gestures to bring up things like the app-switcher and charms bar (is it still called that?) don't work either. I've updated to the latest drivers (all of the ones that Lenovo has at ths point) and that doesn't seem to fix any problems. Anyone know how to solve the touchpad issues?  Also, seriously disapponted with the Lenovo support on these issues. The Yoga went from being one of my favorite laptops to being one of my least favorite with this OS "upgrade" and next time, I'll probably get a computer from Dell.

Answer:Touchpad problems ((and other Windows 10 issues)

Hi, I too was experiencing simlar frustrations on my Flex 2-15" which uses a similar touchpad, the movement would even stop all together for about 15-20 secs, extremely frustrating!! Since my wireless mouse would work just fine I knew it had to be an issue with the drivers.  So the updated driver version for win 10 min my case is going from v17(win8) to v19+(win10). I noticed that the Device Manager driver was showing that new version but the Synaptics control panel was reading that the driver was still 17 which I could see might cause issues for the hardware input to be read properly.  Here is how I fixed it:  1) If you haven't already, download the windows 10 driver for your specific computer/ trackpad from this site.  2) Go to your device manager cpl and expand the pointer mouse objects and uninstall all of the drivers but DO NOT reboot immediately. 3) Goto the Programs and Features cpl and uninstall the Synaptics program (or ELAN / Alps depending on your stock controller app) 4) Reboot when prompted. 5) Run the download in step one and install the driver and Synaptics app when prompted     NOTE: In my case the Synaptics install would not open on its own and had to open it's setup.exe manually          <<C: drivers\Touchpad Driver(Elan, Synaptics, ALPS)\2al301af\Synaptics>> If you still have the issue, try running through the steps while disconnected fr... Hi there,
I'm really hoping I can get some help on the various issues Windows 10 is giving me.
I've got an MSI CR630 64bit.
The first problem I can work around; it is more of an annoyance than anything.
It involves the touchpad driver updating itself from Windows update.
In particular, these 2 updates;

"Synaptics driver update for Synaptics SMBus TouchPad"
"Synaptics - Pointing Drawing - Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad"

It will download them, restart and then as soon as I touch the pad, cause a DPCWatchdogViolation and restart.
I can use a USB mouse to remove the driver and it works fine until the update runs again.
I've set Windows to NOT update my drivers, and also hidden these updates using the wushowhide.diagcab tool from the Microsoft website. Any idea how to stop this seemingly endless loop from occurring?
The second issue is a little more bizzare.
I was using the laptop, left it running for an hour or so and upon returning, it no longer detected it's wireless card. It's not that it can't find any wireless networks, looking at it in device manager my wireless card does not show, even when I set it to show hidden drivers.
I'm aware of people having this issue when they initially upgrade, but it was working fine for weeks and happened completely out of the blue. There were no updates installed on the day this occurred, so I can't uninstall an update to see if that was the cause.
This is the higher priority problem.
Any help and pointers will be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, Just purchased Acer Spin 3 SP315-51 and re-installed windows 10 on an SSD to have a fresh start. However every once in a while the touch screen stops recognizing most taps and it's impossible to scroll. The touchpad also stops scrolling, but still recognizes tapping. It happens every 5 minutes and comes back when I close the window and restart (Google Chrome) Everything works properly with the OEM Windows on the stock HDD. So I figured this was a drivers problem from my fresh install, but I made sure everything was up to date and downloaded every possible update on Acer's website. Current driver for both : 10.0.14393.351, 6/21/2006... and can't update any further with Windows. However on my OEM WIndows install it's : 10.0.10586.420, 6/21/2006 It's not the same thing exactly, but once again I can't upgrade any further.  Can anyone help!? Thanks.

My touchpad is unusable. After the windows 10 1607 anniversary update my touchpad is not working good, it is skipping and lagging a lot. The problem only occurs when the laptop is using the Intel iGPU.The only solution that i have found is using the Nvidia GPU. I have tried updating touchpad and gpu drivers but it doesn't help. I have tried using all Synaptics drivers that i could find. Currently using 19.0.25.5. The touchpad is set to Advanced in the BIOS and Windows is showing it as precision touchpad (all gestures work but very poorly).I'm also using Ubuntu in dualboot and the touchpad is working normally. I guess that this is a I2C driver issue, and I have tried reinstalling the chipset and serial IO drivers but it didn't help.

So I sent my laptop for repair last week because the touchpad was jerking everywhere whenever you touched it, and I picked it up yesterday and it worked great. Except for a little thing. It appears they have installed the Synaptics drivers instead of the ELAN ones for the touchpad. Now, synaptics is great and all, but I want my ELAN-functioning touchpad back, 1) because it was smoother 2) because now the button that disables the trackpad ("F6") doesn't work anymore (it actually kinda disables it for about 1-2 seconds and that's it). What I have tried: Installing ELAN drivers (turned the multi-touch trackpad into a basic one with no gestures, scrolling, etc., and F6 still didn't work)Uninstalling then re-installing ELAN drivers (same thing)Updating ELAN drivers (no difference)I don't know how to fix this, so any help would be really appreciated. Thank you

Hi,I got an Ideapad Y410P a few months ago. Everything was fine until a while ago; but I don't know what happened that made the touchpad stop working! I'm not sure if this happened after windows 8 upgraded itself to 8.1, but I just reset the machine to the factory shipped version (This feature is available in WIndows 8), which was the default windows 8 when I got it. But the problem still is unsolved, EXCEPT that now I see a massage asking an action for installing a missing driver!! It is probably the touchpad. But the problem is that after downloading the touchpad driver from Lenovo, it does not recognize the missing driver!  It can not update itself using network connection;Maybe somebody can send me a package of the correct driver? Please help me with that. Thanks.

Answer:IdeaPad Y410P Touchpad issues in Windows 8

hi arianaa30,

Welcome to the Forums.

Just to verify, is this the driver that you installed?
TouchPad Driver (Synaptics, Elantech) for 64-bit Windows tp113w8.exe121MB

Normally, the driver instaler detects the type of pointing device that you have (either Synaptics or ELAN) and installs the proper driver accordingly. If it doesn't take the driver, try to download and install AIDA 64 Extreme and under Windows Devices, verify the pointing device on your system:

See this image for Synaptics Touchpad
See this image for ELAN Touchpad

After verifyng, navigate to C:\Drivers\Touchpad and install the driver accordingly.

Let me know how it goes.

This would cause programs to automatically open and key inputs to continuously active (repeating the enter key). Other behaviors include ignoring touchpad input and ignoring certain keys on keyboard. The problem has been reported by 5+ systems. When it occurs:The problem is intermittent; it often occurs after waking the system up from sleep or from a locked state (Windows lockscreen). As a workaround, the user has to press the ESC key, CTRL+ALT+Delete or restart the system in order to regain functionality. Uninstalling the driver application also resolves the issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Any advice from Lenovo staff would help.

Answer:Windows 8.1 Ent. Helix - UltraNav, TouchPad and Keyboard issues

Yes, I get similar issues. Although in my case it is mainly: i) the mouse point does not respond after resuming from sleep - CTRL-ALT-Delete or ESC normal resolves thisii) windows or programs open on resume from sleep as if the mouse button was depressed (could be enter key however). Again CTRL-ALT-DEL or ESC can resolve this I'm pretty sure that this is a driver issue as it has only been the last 6 or so months I've experienced this I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro

I'm having many issues with my touchpad/trackpad.
- Touchpad loses its function (scrolling, gestures) after using for a while or after sleep/standby mode.
- Touchpad keeps freezing, the pointer constantly stops moving for a short period, like 5 seconds (but I can still do right click) only when I use touchpad. I can still use external mouse normally.
Hope someone can help.

Since upgrading to widnows 10 I have some strange problem with touchpad, but what I saw it do today made me ask for help with that. The first problem is that some programs are sometimes way too sensitive to touchpad scrolling (I use two-finger scrolling). An example of such program is windows regedit and cmd.exe. Sometimes it's tolarable but somtimes even a half centimeter finger movement causes it to go from the beginning to the end of the registry entries on the left side. And it also happens with some other programs. But only some of them. For example google chrome works fine. Skkype also works fine (most of the time, sometimes it goes crazy with that) But today I noticed something else: For some programs (and they are not always the same programs as in problem #1) the faster I try to scroll the slower it actually goes. Again, for chromium browser it works fine. But for skype, regedit (but not cmd.exe, or maybe 10000 lines is just not enough to notice the effect with so fast scrolling?) and probably a few other programs it does that. What may be wrong and how to fix it? Update: There is also another problem, touchpad scrolling doesn't work at all for some programs.

Hello

So yesterday I updated my Asus Zenbook from Windows 10 (version I don't know) to version 1511 and this has caused two problems for me. Both of them are concerning my touchpad. I used to use two fingers to scroll down and up, and tap with two fingers instead of using the right click. After this update, this doesn't work anymore.

Anyone know how I can get this back? Thanks.

Answer:Two Touchpad issues after I updated to Windows 10 version 1511

Windows Setup replaced all your drivers, no matter if they worked OK or not. Reinstall latest touchpad driver from manufacturer and it should restore full functionality.

Question: Z580 heat issues

Hi Lenovo Community, I recently purchased Lenovo Z580 and having heat issues with it from the very first day. The temperatures aren't extremely high but it's uncomfortable to e.g. to place it on the knees. I've attached screenshot from CPU. Temperatures everywhere are around 60 degrees, but I feel it's higher at the hard drive. Note that I'm not gaming or computing right now, just plain internet browsing. I think this may also harm time to live without electricity, which seems lower than it was said in technical summary.I've seen similar threads on this forum, but I couldn't find an answer. Please help!

Answer:Z580 heat issues

hmm... not for what is happing to your computer...  but make sure NOTHING is blocking your vents, so don't place it on a bed or somewere that isnt elevated.... also check if the fan is working.... if its new return it just incase tho.... but its most likely just somthing stopping the air flow

Answer:Lenovo Z580 fan issues

Hi fahrabh,

The first problem is that your machine is not on the list of compatible systems that can currently run Win 10. This does not necessarly mean it wont run it but you might encounter this and other bugs.

It is uncertain whether or not your system will be added to the list so the best piece of advise is to revert back to your previously working OS.

If your heart is set on keeping Win 10 then somethings you can try:

1. Uninstall and reinstall power management software.
2. Try running a lower energy profile, not performance.

Hi there, I have been led here because of a few issues my dad is having with his new Lenovo Z580.  It's a similar story, guy in his 50s gets a new laptop, has windows 8 and he almost throws it out the window, and so we have a genuine windows 7 license so I eventually get that on there. Everything seems to be ok apart from 2 things.  1) The Bluetooth wont work. He has a Bluetooth mouse but it will not connect. Any ideas? I realize that the UK drivers site is absolutely atrocious, I has to go to the Chinese site just to get the WIFI working!  2) Office will not install. This is strange one. I have genuine licenses for both 2007 and 2010. I started with 2007, its what he's used to. It goes through the whole install setup without a hiccup. Afterwards, I'll click on any of the office suite programs, and it will say "installing software" followed by "software installation failed" or something along those lines. Same with 2010. I have no idea what is causing this, and so all advice is much appreciated.  Sincerest apologies if this has been posted before.  Thanks in advance.  Jamie.

I've had a z580 for around 2 years, and recently the internal mic started going bad and not recording good audio. Because of that, I've tried to use the mic that I have built in on my headphones (which I know works on other devices), but that mic won't work when plugged into the headphone jack, or even when plugged into the microphone jack.  Is there a setting I can change that will let me use the mic on my headphones or do I just need to spend the money to buy an external mic? thanks

Answer:Z580 microphone issues

Hi Lawesome,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with microphone in your Lenovo Z580 laptop.

Connect the headphones go to taskbar right click on the speaker icon, click on playback devices and check if the headphones is detected. If yes select the headphones and click on the set default option and check for the issue.

If still the issue persist then try to reinstall the driver and check for the issue.

Question: Z580 - Boot issues

I got a Lenovo Z580 laptop in 2012. From the beginning I used to get Blue Screen of Death when I shutdown and powered on my laptop, but if I just restart there was no issues. The exception used to vary from "Paging in unpaged memory" to "IQR_LESS_THAN_EQUAL" or something like that, I don't remember it correctly. I used to live with it, but now it became worse and I can't even boot it up. I restored to the factory default image and I still have the same issue. I even upgraded to Windows 8, it worked for a day and then the same problem. Is this a hardware issue ? Disk management shows that the drives are healthy. 1. 200 MB NTFS Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition)2. 886.32 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)3. 25.47 GB NTFS Healthy (Logical Drive)4. 19.53 GB Healthy (OEM Partition) I have tried everything and no clue on how to proceed. Once the system boots up, I don't have any issues.

Answer:Z580 - Boot issues

Usually it is system corrupted file/files. Try going to command prompt with admin rights. Type without quotation mark "sfc /scannow". If sfc finds errors and it cannot make the repair try running Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth under administrator rights also in command prompt..

I've had wireless issues for awhile now and it seems to be getting worse. I can only be connected to the internet wirelessly for a few seconds and then I have to troubleshoot the problem. Sometimes it is fixed, with it saying default gateway unavailable. But now I sometimes have to disconect and reconect the troubleshoot to try and get some form of internet. Sometimes this doesn't work and I have to forget the network all together. I tried upgrading to windows 8.1 in hopes it might fix some issues. I feel it's ten times worse now.  My laptop has a broken hinge that is common with this ideapad model, I am getting it fixed soon. Do I need to also order another wireless card and if so what should I get. I am going to university soon and I will not have much income for fixing my laptop. I bought this thing a year ago planning for it to last me at least five years. But at this point I'm about to bring my old IBM laptop I bought back in 2004 with me instead. This is rediculous and I can barely do my homework. So please help.

I've got an Ideapad Z580, purchased 6 months ago. Basically I can no longer recharge the battery, which shows 0%. The PC shuts down immediately when AC power is switched off. The blue battery light remains on when it's running on AC.  Windows 7 comes up with "consider replacing your battery". Lenovo energy management says the condition of the battery is "poor". I've tried many of the suggestions posted here to try and reset things because a battery failing after 6 months (if that's what it turns out to be), is quite frankly poor. This is what I've done/not done: 1. Battery gauge test (Lenovo energy management) - this completed in 2 minutes! (essentially battery indicator showed it was charging but with a red line around it, then it stopped charging). 2. AC power adapter removed, battery removed, power button held down etc. etc. etc. - same result, no charging. 3. Device manager - ACPI delete (I'm not doing this) - how can uninstaling and reinstalling it sort the problem out? 4. Replaced battery with a new one (not Lenovo but said to be compatible) and tried again. Still would not charge, and this time the battery light blinked orange continually (I suspect because the PC was unhappy the battery was not a Lenovo original). I'm based in the UK and purchased this PC from a local retailer. Has anyone in the UK had any similar experiences, and if so, were you able to find a resolution without having to contact Lenovo? If I contact Lenovo (th... Read more

hello everyone , I have some questions regarding my z580 laptop. Please help me with these questions. My display is of the resolution 1366 x 768  ( highest ).I want to get a full HD resolution LCD for my laptop. So is it possible that i can change the LCD of my laptop ? If it is where can i get the authentic lenovo LCD ? Also in future can i update my graphics ? i mean like i have 2GB DDR3 Nvidia graphics.is it possible i can change it to some other gaphics option like Nvidia DDR5 later on ?Now coming to the issues part of this laptop.I have certain issues with my laptop. These are listed below I had to recover data from a lost partition ( lost it all of a sudden ).I am using recuva software to recover the data and its been like two days and the status of the recovery is just 40%.When i check the Disk performance in task manager the read speed is typically 1.4 MB/sec. You see isnt it that disgusting ? my pen drive has a read speed of around 20MB/sec and that my internal HDD has 1.4 MB/sec ??Also i had created some partitions om my HDD and the windows ddint allow me to have more than 4 partitions.this concluded with some 21 GB of unallocated space without getting associated with any drive. No drive gets shrinked or extended to accomodate these 21GB of unallocated space. Now having been through the tough time of data loss i want to make sure next time i again suffer a data loss the drive is of smaller size so that it takes lesser time to recover. So now , How... So, Windows 10 has successfully installed itself on most of our home computers and laptops with the exception of my ASUS K52JT laptop. I had similar issues when it was running Windows 8 and 8.1, but it was fixable under those operating systems.

The problem is with the Elan touchpad. Apparently Elan touchpads are not compatible with any operating systems above Windows 7 on ASUS computers. ASUS fixed this problem by creating a program called ASUS Smart Gesture, which gives you back control of whether you'd like tapping and gestures turned on or off.

The previous versions of ASUS Smart Gesture are not compatible with Windows 10 however because there are no Windows 8 style charms to pop out depending on how you've programmed it.

A Windows 10 version of ASUS Smart Gesture has been released but it won't install. Instead it gets almost done with the installation, then pops up an error that states: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." The installation then uninstalls itself and an Installation Incomplete window pops up that says "The installer was interrupted before ASUS Smart Gesture could be installed. You need to restart the installer and try again." Restarting the installer does not fix the problem.

At the time of this writing there are two versions of the program available. SmartGesture_WIN10_64_VER405 and S... Read more

So since the Windows 10 update my 2-finger scroll on the touchpad on my Yoga 2 Pro sucks. Sometimes it will work to scroll down for a first swipe then when I pick my fingers up to keep srolling it wont scroll at all. Then I cant get to to scroll anymore after that. It sometimes acts like ti wants to zoom and gives this werid cursor on the screen, but it doesnt do anything.

This is super annyoing and now I either have to click and scroll or hit the arrors to scroll. It only seems to be an issue in Chrome. MSOffice programs seem to work fine.

Is anyone else experienceing this?
