I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi! I have a Lenovo Z580 i5, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GT 630M.  I was running Windows 7 with good 5-6 hours battery but I've upgraded to Windows 8 (64bit) and ever since I'd be lucky to get even 1-2 hours running on battery. I've tried upgrading all of the drivers on the Lenovo site and the energy management is set for longest battery life, I can't get to the bottom of why it is happening. It seems the only option is to wipe the system and reinstall Windows 8 from scratch but I'd really rather not do that if possible. Any advice?

Answer:Z580 Windows 8 Battery Issues

I dont know how you were getting 5-6 were you using a word processor with no wifi and low brightness, because i only get 3h34m on Win7 according to battery bar on my z580 just browsing the internet, i have only a 6 cell battery do you have a 9 or 12 cell??? John.

vikas189 wrote:Hello, I upgraded my Lenovo Z580 to Win 10. Two major issues I have are:1.) cannot decrease or control my screen brightness2.) cannot do two finger right click on touchpad Can anyone help please. -VikasThe general solution for problems resulting from an upgrade to Win 10 is to reinstall the previous drivers. In your case, for #1, reinstall Intel hd xxxx driver, and for #2, the touchpad driver. Try to solve the problems one by one.

Has anyone who's been experiencing networking issues on 8.1 managed to fix them yet? I have a lenovo z580 that came preinstalled with windows 8I could use wired or wireless connection perfectly on win 8. I then upgraded to 8.1, had so many networking issues I downgraded to win 7. On win 7 it worked perfectly again (used it for 8 months with no issue). Dual boot win 7 alongside various distros of linux, after some issues with drivers at the beginning linux also works perfectly. Decided to give windows 8 another go yesterday. Clean installed windows 8 (hard drive reformatted), networking is working perfectly. Updated to 8.1 and it has limited connectivity on wifi immediately, installing the latest drivers from lenovo website, does NOT fix the issue, (had to use hp drivers to get any internet connection at all.) So with the new wireless drivers it only half works, I can use the internet but I get constant time-outs and disconnects on any website (again everything worked perfectly on win8 and win7), even typing this I'm getting errors as the page updates. If I ping my own router you will get succesful replys with occasional timeouts (between 10% and 20% of packets are lost) I have the exact same problem when using a wired connection. I can see from other forum topics this issue is affecting many lenovo products, and many from other manufacturers as well. Does anyone have a solution? Do Lenovo have a solution? EDIT&n... Read more

Greetings! I purchased a Lenovo Z580 laptop and got the hard drive replaced by a samsung 830 series SSD (128GB) with a fresh W7 install, the store put the 750GB harddrive into an external enclosure and I all this was at a very neat price. The laptop was awesome. But for the battery. From day one i had issues of battery lasting only 1.5 to 2 hours on a full charge. I did the following checks:1. Made sure all device drivers were installed from Lenovo website (or from hard drive OEM folder, whichever were latest). I did this first because the SSD had a fresh W7 install.2. Made sure all windows updates were installed3. Levono power management was set for Battery Fully Charged Mode and not Battery protection mode (where battery capacity is limited to, well, less than 100%) Problem was unresolved. I called the store and they gave me a new battery, no questions asked. Din't fix the problem. Then they gave me a new laptop, with the same SSD put in. Didn't work. This was two weeks into buying the laptop. I asked them to put the old 750GB HDD in thinking maybe its the SSD. Didn't fix the problem. (At this stage the laptop was as good as out of the box and I was sure SSD didnt cause the problem). I dont want to ask for money back because I need exactly the configuration present in this laptop, and at the price I got it, it's not possible (at least in The Netherlands). Also, it's sold out. Aside from this issue, the laptop is perfect. Meanwhile, I ran the pow... Read more

Hello...    I recently tried to "upgrade" to windows 8 (I tried doing both, and upgrade and a clean install).  Almost ALL of the Windows 8 drivers, I downloaded from the Lenovo Driver Matrix do not install. I get a varying array of error messages. I also can not get the smart fan (dedusting mode) to work, One Key Theater, Dolby Audio, etc, to work. This has turned out to be a total nightmare. Where, how can I get Windows 8 driver for my Z580 that will install correctly? How, where can I get the Dolby audio and One Key theater to install and work? How do I get the dedusting mode to work? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:IdeaPad z580 USB Driver For Windows 8.1 64bit

Try disconnecting your device first. Uninstall the driver with the yellow mark. Reboot then try connecting your device. In Windows 8.1 usually you don't need to install the usb drivers Windows itself will provide/install the driver.

Lenovo Ideapad z580 Win10 64 I updated the bios with the private update (I know now that I should have used the public update) Then it showed this menu:http://i.imgur.com/kZaO2tf.jpg Whenever I selected HDD, the screen would go black for a couple of seconds and return to this menu. I fixed it by going into BIOS and changing bootmode from UEFI to Legacy. it booted but now everything is slow. It takes 5 mins to boot up and a further 15 minutes to reach usable speeds (I only have 4 startup programs). I tried changing it back to UEFI and it gives me the same problem as shown in the picture. I tried installing the public update, but it says that I cannot update as the current bios version is the same or newer. I went into BIOS and enabled BIOS back flash, and now when I try to start the public update, it just crashes. I also cannot access the start menu (this problem may be seperate and unrelated) I have backed up files and am prepared to do a clean reinstall of Win10, but I feel this won't work as it's a BIOS issue. The computer is unusably slow: what should I do? Thanks

I bought a ideapad z580 3 months ago and thought of upgrading to windows 8 (64bit). it was a pain. finally i had to revert to windows 7 because of driver installation errors & missing drivers. Can somebody tell me why i got these errors (i did a clean install of the os & tried running setup with admin privileges)realtek driver - No driver supported in this driver packagecamera -the setup program for the target device is not foundnvidia-unable to execute the command linetouchpad-setup asked for 64bit exe error also i got 'target device not found' & 'unable to execute the command line' errors for wireless, intel managment driver, vga driveronly chipset and energy management drivers installed properly.   I called lenovo chat support team & they helped me with installing driver by browsing the path in devmgmt.msc..thats not the normal way to install a driver. You click on a setup & it should install. Also i dont get to see 'Lenovo OneKey theatre' software on 'Other Softwares' category.I should call these as buggy drivers for windows 8 and dono why lenovo is pushing it to the support site. Ideapad Z580 users please try installing win8 in a virtual machine before upgrading your pc.am so frustated. spent more than 4 hours on Upgrade & still achieved nothing.

Story: my company got two Z580 for me and my collegaue. His was Windows 7 edition (Win7 sticker at the bottom), mine Windows 8 edition (Win8 sticker at the bottom). Since we use Windows 7, I had to reinstall the system (to Windows 7). Everything went fine to the point when I had to install Nvidia drivers. The installer states that I don't have compatible hardware. This is odd becuase I have also Nvidia "Geforce with CUDA" sticker, and even BIOS knows I have dual card (Optimus). Windows by itself detected Intel chip and unknown VGA one. I tried Lenovo drivers (for Nvidia) and also the ones grabbed directly from Nvidia site. Any help/hints are greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Answer:How to install Nvidia driver for Z580 (Win8 version) with Windows 7 Pro?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Try updating the chipset driver, Intel graphic driver and then the Nvidia driver. Nvidia will not get installed without the Intel graphic driver. Also make sure that switchable graphics is enabled in BIOS. Here is the link with all compatible drivers.

Hi, Recently I purchased a Lenovo product, the Idea pad z580. I have a number of issues. I would really appreciate answers. The thermal management doesn't does not seem to work. Firstly it starts up, I see the interface. I can click around etc, change the power options to power saving, balanced or performance, however, when I don't have the battery plugged in,(Running off battery not AC adapter) none of those options seems to actually take affect, I load of Guildwars 2, and it lags quite badly but I get stable temperatures of 62 degrees. I also see that the core clocks of the Graphics card are under clocked, and changing to performance mode makes no difference, Now, If I plug the laptop in, (Running from AC adapter) it seems the laptop only then bumps up to performance mode. Games start up, laptop reaches a max temp of 93 degrees for the GPU. I want to know how I can fix this issue? If the laptop is plugged in, why can I not run it as if it were on balance mode. and if its unplugged why cant I run it on performance mode. (Please not that if I put the EM to performance mode, the needles doesnt change to balance mode when unplugged, it stays on performance mode, but runs as if its on balance mode, and visa versa). Another thing, if I press the touch button (moon with star above) at the top of my laionsptop I get different thermal options, however the only option I can select and that makes any audable or visual difference is the dust removal. ... Do you have an Nvidia graphics card, or just the Intel HD4000 in your CPU. If you have an Nvidia, try turning it off in the bios under optimius, and see what your temps are like, upto 90c is acceptable while gaming but no higher John.

Hi there, I have been led here because of a few issues my dad is having with his new Lenovo Z580.  It's a similar story, guy in his 50s gets a new laptop, has windows 8 and he almost throws it out the window, and so we have a genuine windows 7 license so I eventually get that on there. Everything seems to be ok apart from 2 things.  1) The Bluetooth wont work. He has a Bluetooth mouse but it will not connect. Any ideas? I realize that the UK drivers site is absolutely atrocious, I has to go to the Chinese site just to get the WIFI working!  2) Office will not install. This is strange one. I have genuine licenses for both 2007 and 2010. I started with 2007, its what he's used to. It goes through the whole install setup without a hiccup. Afterwards, I'll click on any of the office suite programs, and it will say "installing software" followed by "software installation failed" or something along those lines. Same with 2010. I have no idea what is causing this, and so all advice is much appreciated.  Sincerest apologies if this has been posted before.  Thanks in advance.  Jamie.

I've got an Ideapad Z580, purchased 6 months ago. Basically I can no longer recharge the battery, which shows 0%. The PC shuts down immediately when AC power is switched off. The blue battery light remains on when it's running on AC.  Windows 7 comes up with "consider replacing your battery". Lenovo energy management says the condition of the battery is "poor". I've tried many of the suggestions posted here to try and reset things because a battery failing after 6 months (if that's what it turns out to be), is quite frankly poor. This is what I've done/not done: 1. Battery gauge test (Lenovo energy management) - this completed in 2 minutes! (essentially battery indicator showed it was charging but with a red line around it, then it stopped charging). 2. AC power adapter removed, battery removed, power button held down etc. etc. etc. - same result, no charging. 3. Device manager - ACPI delete (I'm not doing this) - how can uninstaling and reinstalling it sort the problem out? 4. Replaced battery with a new one (not Lenovo but said to be compatible) and tried again. Still would not charge, and this time the battery light blinked orange continually (I suspect because the PC was unhappy the battery was not a Lenovo original). I'm based in the UK and purchased this PC from a local retailer. Has anyone in the UK had any similar experiences, and if so, were you able to find a resolution without having to contact Lenovo? If I contact Lenovo (th... Read more

Hi, So I bought a Z580 Ideapad a few days ago, and i'm loving it except for one thing thats bugging me. The touchpad. It doesn't feel like it has any flow or as if I have full control. It randomly scrolls and I don't even know how i'm doing it, doesn't move the cursor exactly where I want it to go, occasionally remains unresponive for about a second, and then sometimes jumps around, and i've also noticed I can't move the cursor if i'm pressing a key. I've been reading about a few issues with the Snaptics touchpad but they range from not working at all, to compatibilty issues regarding Windows 8 and gestures. I've also come across a few driver downloads, but they either do nothing, or the cautious side of me doesn't trust them because they're unheard of. In addition, i've read that Win 8 ( which is what i'm using) is new so these problems might be fixed in time. It frustrates me that I love the laptop but the touchpad is driving me insane! I don't really care for the gestures for zooming, rotating or whatever, I just want the basic touchpad to actually work. Is their any solution to this, or is this just how the touchpad is? Thanks!

I've had wireless issues for awhile now and it seems to be getting worse. I can only be connected to the internet wirelessly for a few seconds and then I have to troubleshoot the problem. Sometimes it is fixed, with it saying default gateway unavailable. But now I sometimes have to disconect and reconect the troubleshoot to try and get some form of internet. Sometimes this doesn't work and I have to forget the network all together. I tried upgrading to windows 8.1 in hopes it might fix some issues. I feel it's ten times worse now.  My laptop has a broken hinge that is common with this ideapad model, I am getting it fixed soon. Do I need to also order another wireless card and if so what should I get. I am going to university soon and I will not have much income for fixing my laptop. I bought this thing a year ago planning for it to last me at least five years. But at this point I'm about to bring my old IBM laptop I bought back in 2004 with me instead. This is rediculous and I can barely do my homework. So please help.

hello everyone , I have some questions regarding my z580 laptop. Please help me with these questions. My display is of the resolution 1366 x 768  ( highest ).I want to get a full HD resolution LCD for my laptop. So is it possible that i can change the LCD of my laptop ? If it is where can i get the authentic lenovo LCD ? Also in future can i update my graphics ? i mean like i have 2GB DDR3 Nvidia graphics.is it possible i can change it to some other gaphics option like Nvidia DDR5 later on ?Now coming to the issues part of this laptop.I have certain issues with my laptop. These are listed below I had to recover data from a lost partition ( lost it all of a sudden ).I am using recuva software to recover the data and its been like two days and the status of the recovery is just 40%.When i check the Disk performance in task manager the read speed is typically 1.4 MB/sec. You see isnt it that disgusting ? my pen drive has a read speed of around 20MB/sec and that my internal HDD has 1.4 MB/sec ??Also i had created some partitions om my HDD and the windows ddint allow me to have more than 4 partitions.this concluded with some 21 GB of unallocated space without getting associated with any drive. No drive gets shrinked or extended to accomodate these 21GB of unallocated space. Now having been through the tough time of data loss i want to make sure next time i again suffer a data loss the drive is of smaller size so that it takes lesser time to recover. So now , How... Question: Z580 - Boot issues

I got a Lenovo Z580 laptop in 2012. From the beginning I used to get Blue Screen of Death when I shutdown and powered on my laptop, but if I just restart there was no issues. The exception used to vary from "Paging in unpaged memory" to "IQR_LESS_THAN_EQUAL" or something like that, I don't remember it correctly. I used to live with it, but now it became worse and I can't even boot it up. I restored to the factory default image and I still have the same issue. I even upgraded to Windows 8, it worked for a day and then the same problem. Is this a hardware issue ? Disk management shows that the drives are healthy. 1. 200 MB NTFS Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition)2. 886.32 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)3. 25.47 GB NTFS Healthy (Logical Drive)4. 19.53 GB Healthy (OEM Partition) I have tried everything and no clue on how to proceed. Once the system boots up, I don't have any issues.

Answer:Z580 - Boot issues

Usually it is system corrupted file/files. Try going to command prompt with admin rights. Type without quotation mark "sfc /scannow". If sfc finds errors and it cannot make the repair try running Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth under administrator rights also in command prompt..

Question: Z580 heat issues

Hi Lenovo Community, I recently purchased Lenovo Z580 and having heat issues with it from the very first day. The temperatures aren't extremely high but it's uncomfortable to e.g. to place it on the knees. I've attached screenshot from CPU. Temperatures everywhere are around 60 degrees, but I feel it's higher at the hard drive. Note that I'm not gaming or computing right now, just plain internet browsing. I think this may also harm time to live without electricity, which seems lower than it was said in technical summary.I've seen similar threads on this forum, but I couldn't find an answer. Please help!

Answer:Z580 heat issues

hmm... not for what is happing to your computer...  but make sure NOTHING is blocking your vents, so don't place it on a bed or somewere that isnt elevated.... also check if the fan is working.... if its new return it just incase tho.... but its most likely just somthing stopping the air flow

I've had a z580 for around 2 years, and recently the internal mic started going bad and not recording good audio. Because of that, I've tried to use the mic that I have built in on my headphones (which I know works on other devices), but that mic won't work when plugged into the headphone jack, or even when plugged into the microphone jack.  Is there a setting I can change that will let me use the mic on my headphones or do I just need to spend the money to buy an external mic? thanks

Answer:Lenovo Z580 fan issues

Hi fahrabh,

The first problem is that your machine is not on the list of compatible systems that can currently run Win 10. This does not necessarly mean it wont run it but you might encounter this and other bugs.

It is uncertain whether or not your system will be added to the list so the best piece of advise is to revert back to your previously working OS.

If your heart is set on keeping Win 10 then somethings you can try:

1. Uninstall and reinstall power management software.
2. Try running a lower energy profile, not performance.

Hello, I've installed Windows 8.1 x64 on my Lenovo Ideapad Z580 laptop.I encountered that my USB 3.0 devices won't be recognized or are performing on USB 2.0 speed. I've installed the following drivers, but this doesn't fix the problem. - Intel Chipset Driver;- Intel Management Engine Interface;- Intel Rapid Storage technology;- Nvidia Video Driver;- Realtek Audio Driver;- Realtek Card Reader Driver;- Synaptics Touchpad Driver. I've found the USB 3.0 driver but this is only for Windows 7 x86 and x64 systems. This driver is not compatable with my system. Also in Device Manager there is one device what won't be recognized. (I gues the USB 3.0 driver)Windows Update also can't find it. Please help?

Answer:Z580 USB 3.0 Driver

The usb 3.0 driver are provided by the OS (true for Win 8/8.1). If you find them not working perhaps a reinstallation is in order. How? Open device manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Delete the list one by one. Then reboot. The OS will reinstall them. For USB 3 there should be in the list USB Root HUB (xHCI) and USB 3.0 xTensible Host Controller.

Hi, I am having a weird wifi issue. I have been using my lenovo z580 with windows 8 for the past 8 months without any problem. But suddenly a week back my laptop's wifi started disconnecting after 5-10 mins of usage. Then if i reboot my laptop the wifi works for 5-10 mins again and disconnects. I have gone through some of the posts here and disabled the Bluetooth tray application, updated LEM, wifi drivers, but still i cant fix the issue. I have found a temporary solution. If i put my laptop into sleep mode and bring it back again, the wifi starts working. but again it will work for only 10 mins. apparently i am having to do this fix every 10 mins which is annoying. I even tried reinstalling windows 8 but still there has been no improvement. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening? do i have to go to the service center to replace any hardware?

Hi there,Apologies if this is a repeated thread/post/question, but I've recently starting experiencing some problems with the Wireless on my IdeaPad z580 (to my knowledge, I have not updated any software to have reasonably caused this problem)Every so often now (seemingly 2-3 times a day), the wireless card seems to cut out completely, only allowing limited connection. If I try to turn switch it into aeroplane mode and back again, it completely disables the wifi and it grays out the option to switch it back on again. If I then go through networking on the control panel to re-enable the hardware it completely crashes the laptop and has to be hard-rebooted. Likewise if I attempt to use Microsofts pathetic troubleshooting to resolve the problems the laptop crashes and has to be restarted.I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit alongside Linux Mint 15, which I mainly use for University work. The laptop uses a Broadcom BCM4313 Wireless Card. My suspicion is that this is a hardware issue, and having only had the laptop ~6 months I should be able to get it repaired under warranty from Lenovo (I think). From some internet searches I have seen others have problems where the wireless card gets shut down by Energy Management, however it seems like they simply cannot connect and switching the card off and on again fixes the issue. Is this a known problem with Lenovo? Is there anything that can be done to stop it happening? Am I covered by a warranty? It may be worth noting that if my wireless goe... Read more

I am having trouble with the keyboard for my Lenovo Z580. The touch pad will randomly stop working for a few seconds at a time and then the keyboard will type characters erratically or delete items without me pressing any buttons. I thought it may have to do with the touchpad sensitivity but I tried to adjust the settings on the touchpad and even uninstall the touchpad program but the keyboard is still typing ".............................." or deleting everything without me intending to do so. If I press "Num Lock" it will stop for a few seconds and then start again. I sent it in to the warranty company I got through Staples (where the computer was bought) and they said they replaced the AC adapter but I am still having the same problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi. I am having issues with Bluetooth on my IdeaPad Z580.Prior to last Wednesday, when system updates were done prior to shutting down, Bluetooth had worked perfectly fine, but since these 'updates' I can only send documents, etc. from my Z580 to my BlackBerry 9790, but I can't send from the BlackBerry to the notebook?Devices have been paired, sharing is On and Bluetooth is On in Wireless Devices. Please advise... Many thanks in advance. Best regardsDuane

Answer:Bluetooth issues with IdeaPad Z580

hi Duanet,

Can you create a system restore point and try the following:
1. Uninstall the Bluetooth Software from the Control Panel > Programs and reboot
2. Verify under Device Manager that the bluetooth device is using the generic driver then pair both devices and observe if you can now send files from PC-to-Phone and vice versa.

3. If same problem, reinstall the original bluetooth driver from D:\Drivers\Bluetooth or from the lenovo website

I had installed windows 8.1 and recently updated the windows through windows update and then my problems began. When it restarted all I would get is a black screen. I powered down and powered on but still no resolve. I was able to power up onece I removed the battery and ac and left for 10 minutes then it would start up. This would happen all the time and it got frustratingly annoying. After readin on these forums that I should not of upgraed to Windows 8.1 I then went back to windows 8 factory settings( a bit drastic but I needed to do it)  I am still having the same problems though as before. When I finally get the screen come upo it will not let me into bios or startup modes eg safe mode and all the other options that go with it.   Can anyone help me resolve the issue with the restart and the bios menus etc.. Please note I do not know lots about computers however I do know some bits and really need help to resolve. I have also read on the forums that there is an ongoing issue with the idea z580 that the techi guys are not able to resolve.. This is my first post and I would be grateful for any help given. Thank youTony

I have just purchased the Lenovo Z580 two days ago. Its the i3 model with Windows 8 and I have since noticed problems with the internal wireless adaptor. When I'm connected to my router wirelessly my signal is terrible I get five bars initially then two and then one and it remains on one bar thereafter or disconects entirely. My other computers are fine with the range from the router even when in the same room as the Lenovo laptop and the Lenovo is the only one that struggles to maintain a coonection, I have also noticed that the bandwidth recieved by the wireless adapter is also poor in that I am mostly getting 1Mbps. I have tried installing another driver but it didn't help, I have also opened the bottom panal and checked the cables to the antanna and still no improvement. I'm not sure why it has such poor range, the device manager shows its a broadcom card, I've never had a braodcom before I usually have atheros because all of my previous laptops have been Toshiba. I'd appreciate some advice from the community here, are there any known problems with the wireless adaptors for this hardware? Thanks to all who take the time to help.

Lenovo Ideapad Z580 for about 2 weeks ago and whilst I really like it there are a few problems with it. Certain keys on the keyboard only work intermittently, namely the 'a' the 'o' and the 'e' and occasionally other keys too. This makes typing a real problem as I have to continually keep going back to correct things. I'm a proficient typist and haven't experienced this type of problem before on any other machine. Also the touchpad is so sensitive it keeps activating icons when it passes over them without any need to click. It jumps the pointer to another part of the document and sets off on it's own journey without any input from me! It also keeps swiping in the charms bar then the Start window when I'm in the middle of working ? REALLY annoying! Any ideas please? I don't want to have to take it back as 'not fit for purpose' if it's just a simple thing to correct. Thanks

Answer:Z580 touchpad and keyboard issues

hi hamchris,

Welcome to the Forums.

Regarding the issues that you're experiencing:
1. Try to boot in Safe Mode and observe if the keys on the keyboard only work intermittently
    - if it is, there's most likely a problem with the keyboard and you need to send it for service).
    - if all of the keys work ok, perform a clean boot and observe it in normal mode

2. The touch sensitivity is probably activating the double tapping feature, try to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad by navigating to Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse

For Synaptics Touchpad:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
For ELAN Touchpad:Spoiler (Highlight to read)
3. The Edge Swipe gesture is most likely trigerring the charms bar, check this thread on how to turn off the touchpad gestures.

Hope this helps

Hello, I am new to this forum and have just recently bought my Lenovo laptop Z580. I updated to Windows 7 ultimate and everything seems working but I am having wireless connectivity issues. I have a good signal, I can connect to wifi and I donīt experience any internet cuts, however my download speed suddenly drops down, websites are loading slowly as well. Then I run a windows built-in diagnostic tool for wireless and it resolves it automatically: It resets the wireless network adapter and verifies if the network adapter configuration problem is resolved and thatīs it. It shows at the end that I had problems with wireless adapter or access point and that it is fixed. The speed is OK, fast download, everything seems to be working. However the problem occurs again and again. And although Windows automatically resolves it, it is just a very short term solution.I have AR9285 wireless adapter, I tried to update the driver from the official website - no luck. I tried to uninstall the driver completely and install again the one that I have on my: /D hard drive - nothing changed. I have also tried to change my router channels from 6 to 11 and to 1 but no luck. Can you please advise me on this matter?Thank you!

Answer:Z580 WIFI connectivity issues

I suggest you do a onekey recovery to factory reset the laptop. See if it persist in the factory install.

I tried to run the new BIOS upgrade on the drivers page, but after running the first file (the 'public' one), my laptop wouldn't boot normally anymore. It showed me a boot menu telling me to select the right device to boot from, but nothing worked. I did still have access to the BIOS, so I told it to Load Default Settings and I finally got it working again. However, since some settings somewhere have been changed, I have been coping with some things I just can't seem to get right. What's especially annoying is that my touchpad toggle (fn + f6) no longer works. The icon shows up telling me I have disabled or enabled my touchpad, but the touchpad keeps working regardlessly. I uninstalled the touchpad driver and rebooted and it did work, but when I reïnstalled the driver, it stopped functioning again. I figured that that should probably be the other way around Another smaller issue I have run into is that changing my brightness acts kind of weird. It works, but I've seen it go up or down in my display bar by 5 blocks at a time or 1 block (it's now 1 block at a time), but I believe 5 blocks at a time is more like it used to work. But the weirdest part (but least troubling actually) is that the display bar is the same size as the sound display bar, so 10 blocks, but there are waaaay more options than that, so I can keep upping the brightness even if the bar is full. The sunny side of the whole thing is that my graphic driver issues that lead me to the driver page have bee... Hi, My laptop has had certain issues since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. - When I click the x button in a window using the left click button on the pad, sometimes the window behind it closes as well. I tried the double click test in mouse settings and it doesn't seem like a double click is registering. - Sometimes when I open a new window in Firefox, it switches back to a previous window for no reason after a few seconds. This could be a software issue but I haven't experienced it outside of this computer. I've tried disabling add-ons. - The trackpad has twice stopped working completely. The first time was for a minute. The second time was for much longer. I restored the computer to factory settings and it still didn't work. The next day it was working. I've tried installing the latest touchpad drivers from both Lenovo and Synaptics and it didn't help. I realize these problems are all over the place and might be unrelated, but I don't know how else to present them. I appreciate any input.

I use IdeaPad Z580 (Winodws 8 Pro) and find two important issue.1. If I use expand RAM module over 8GB, eg. 12GB or 16GB, the CPU usage will be abnormally high and cause the NB is too slower. It occurs when the graphic setting is be set as nvidia optimus, it's regular when the setting is be set as only intel graphic chipest2. I connect a USB 3.0 device (network interface card or harddisk dock) on USB 3.0 port. if I hibernate Z580 and then wake it up, the device performance will slow down like as USB 2.0 device until I restart Z580. I hope Lenovo can release new bios or driver to solve these issues. By the way, I come from Taiwan, Taiwan official web does not provide chinese mail consumer service and only provide chinese phone service. But phone service  is non-useful because most users need work on office time, so I wish lenovo can provide chinese mail service for Taiwan consumers. Any help would be appreciated.

I only have the HD4000 in my Z580 so i did not notice any slowdown, but i did have a problem with the occasional black screen boot, normally first thing in the morning after the notebook had been unplugged overnight, and ii would have to hold the power button down, the next boot worked fine. I switched back to 8gb and no problems, i have switched back and forward a few time, and their is defiantly a problem. John.

My Ideapad Z580 is almost 2 years old and, after progressing from Win 8 to Win 8.1, has picked up more than a few irritating habits, so I think it's high time I updated a few drivers. I thought I might start with the Wi-Fi one shown below but, looking at my device manager network entry, I'm not at all confident that the download is relevant for me and I'm thinking that, if I suck it and see, I might screw up my system. Or am I looking in the wrong place? Any advice gratefully received.

Hi and welcome to the lenovo forums.

Can you try to boot into Safe Mode and see if all of the keyboard keys are working.

If all of the keys are working, there's most likely an third party application that's disabling the "9","O","L"," and "." keys. Perform a clean boot to isolate what app is causing the issue.

If all of the keyboard keys still doesn't work in Safe Mode then this is most likely a defective keyboard and you need to contact lenovo for service.

Hope this helps

Just before Christmas took delivery of my shiny new ideapad z580 running windows 8. I will explain everything first and see where we get.I use this in my home studio and connect a Rane SL1 usb souncard through it and then use Serato or Virtual DJ and timecodes through the CD players. After installing the drivers and plugging in the USB SL1, the touchpad came to a virtual stop. Unplug USB and it starts moving again.I then tried option 2, which was to plug in a 3.5 stereo jack into the audio output and connect this to a mixer. Sound works fine, but again the touchpad comes to a virtual halt. I then left this for an hour and when i came back the touchpad was working. Unplug it and put it back in, then touchpad goes back to dead slow or stop. I thought it may have been that the drivers for my USB SL1 controller where not Windows 8 compatible and as these are not available yet, I went and bought a Hercules USB soundcard, which comes with Windows 8 Drivers. Plugged this in all excited, only to find that the touchpad freezes or moves very slowly when I do. Unplug and the touchpad moves freely. Leave it for an hour and again the touchpad moves freely and everything works. I have tried it in both USB3 and USB2 ports. The only thing I have not tried is using an external mouse. I wrote today as I have seen lots of people saying the same about the Touchpad. Mine is the Synaptics one. I have also read somewhere that the easy option is to use the windows 8 drivers.... Read more

This is my first and I think last time I have bought lenovo gadget. I had dell laptop for 3 years then for 5 years I had Apple. Someone recommended me to try lenovo but I can't believe it such a well known company can make a trash like this.Just because of this serious issue of  internet connection. I have lost  some of my official data's and unsaved work. Once I was in the middle of transferring money online and internet went off. I have a problem with my wifi. I have looked at other post's, I have updated the drivers. I have also changed the settings for the wireless card on the power settings. This has made no difference. This is not linked to the router or provider as my other PC and phones are all working fine. Just because of that issue I bought new router and wifi connectors months back I went back to office depot (bought from that place) and they asked me to call lenovo for your problem. So I did and they sent me new card for that issue. It worked for a month and the problem started again. I called them yesterday and they asked me to send it to them. During that time period do I have to buy a new one for my personal use? This time my friend asked me to try this forum. And I am surprised that this is the main problem with this laptop. How can we loss $500 on such an item? If there was such a big issue they should recall it instead of making people fool. I have tried everything to solve this problem over the phone and reading all the po... Read more

I've recently been having issues with both my wireless adapter and the cooling fan in my Z580. I upgraded to Windows 10 about 1 year ago. My fan does not seem to work at all, I can't hear it and the laptop climbs to very high temperatures. More recently the Wifi has been disconnecting and my router disapears from the list. Switching on and off the computer helps 80% of the time. I'm not exactly sure of where to start to try and resolve this.

We have two Lenovo Ideapads Z580 which connect to the internet wireless, then keep losing their connection.  I downloaded the Lenovo Support Software and ran the tests.  All tests passed except the Wireless connectivity test.  It came back with a warning result code WWF00F000-VL7V4D.  What does this mean?  We are ready to go out and buy new Dell laptops just to solve this problem. Any suggestions? Thankyou. Diane

I am having real issues with my Lenovo Z580 laptop touchpad. The touchpad functions normally, but freezes unexpectedly. I have to click ALT + Tab and change the window for it to work again. I have removed and re-installed the drivers and this has had no impact.  It is really frustrating as it is becoming more and more regular and also the keyboard seems to be having minor issues too. If anyone can help it would be most appreciated Thanks, Will

Answer:Ideapad Z580 - touchpad / keyboard issues

hi Will,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to check

Curious, if you don't re-install the Touchpad driver from the lenovo website and let Windows use a generic driver, are you still getting freezing issues while using the Touchpad?

If you have the Synaptics touchpad and it works fine with the generic driver then the problem is likey with the driver. Try to install this driver directly from the Synaptics website:

Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v17.0.19
118.1 MB zip

If the freezing issue still occur even with a generic touchpad driver then it's likely that the Touchpad is showing signs of imminent failure. In this case, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings.

As for the keyboard, are some of the keys not working?
 - If some of the keyboard keys are intermittently working then this is likely a keyboard failure and I recommend you report this also when you contact lenovo.

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please have a look through the driver listings on your machine's support pages:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z580
You can narrow the listing to WLAN with the dropdown selector to see what's available for your OS version.

Hi All, I have just upgraded my Z580 from 8.0 to 8.1 (x64) and everything is working except the camera (webcam). It was working fine in Windows 8.  If I look in the device manager I see "Access is denied" error message on the driver. every time I install the EasyCamera software (chincony - 64 bit windows 8.1) it fails with an unspecified error "setup failed".  It then tells me to plug in the camera, it then says "are you sure uninstall the camera driver" - I say yes and the uninstaller fails with an "uninstall driver fail" message.  I have also tried saying no to hte uninstaller option but to no avail.  Here is what I have tried: The following drivers0mca09w81.exethe Z380Z480Z580.....exe drivers from the chinese sitethe original Windows 8.0 drivers in d:\driversthe 32bit version of the driver With each driver above I have tried: Removed device from device manager, uninstalled webcam software, rebooted, reran the driver installer - FAILAs Above and run the installer as "administrator" - FAILAs Above but set the installer to compatability mode (Windows 7) - FAIL I know for sure that the camera is fine,  the wires are sound etc.  One minute it was working - upgrade to 8.1 and it stopped........... This is a driver installer issue but I am not sure how to proceed.  I have considered tracing the installer to see the registry keys it tries and changing the permissions on these I have also considered changing... When trying to install the driver it always says "This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) WiDi or the application is in use.  Anyone able to get this to work. I wanted to play with it on my Nexus 4.

Answer:Z580 WiDi can't get the driver to install.

WiDi SetupMake sure you have all of the hard ware that supports WiDi.You must have:1. A 3rd or 4th Generation Intel Core Processor2. An Intel HD Graphic card3. An Intel Centrino Wireless Card4. IntelŪ My WiFi Technology (IntelŪ MWT) and IntelŪ Wireless Display must be pre-installed and enabled.See this list for the specific requirements:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm If you have all the hardware listed above, then, see this list:http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-032474.htm Make sure you scan at the Intel driver site in IE. You have to update the following drivers to their new versions:The order of installing is important!  Start with the video card, then the PROSet/Wireless WiFi, and the last is the WiDi Version. Here are their current driver versions.Video Card ? Intel HD Graphics 3000 Version 9.17.10.2875, 10-17-2012PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software Version 15.03.1000.1637WiDi Version 3.5.41.0 If you have any problems, after you install the updated drivers, take a look at this post. He gave some interesting info about the PROSet/Wireless set up. You may have to follow his installation suggestion. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/P500-WiDi/m-p/974985/highlight/false#M74843

Hello, Thank you in advance to anyone who helps. I have a problem with my wifi. This is not linked to the router or provider as my other pc and phones are all working fine. Basically when im using the wi-fi on my laptop after around 10 minutes it decides to stop working and wont load pages or freezes. It stops and starts all the time. The wifi signal is on full. I have looked at other post's, I have updated the drivers. I have also changed the settings for the wireless card on the power settings. This has made no difference. I am very tempted to return this laptop to john lewis and get my money back. I have only had it 3 months. First problem I had was the touchpad being very temperamental. Then I had issues with the volume button not working, fixed after shutting down and restarting. Now I'm having these issues with the wireless internet. What could possibly go wrong next. I'm starting to wonder is this the reason they discontinued these models in john lewis. If anyone can help me, would be very appreciated. Persuading me not to return this laptop is going to be much harder.

I am working on my wife's Z580 running Windows 7 64 bit. The machine has two issues that have not been resolved even after running a restore to factory settings using the OneKey recovery option. When I try to open the "Devices and Printers" option in the Windows start menu, it just hangs and never displays any information. When I try to open the Task Manager via ctrl+alt+del, it instantly crashes.I am able to get both TM and D&P to work in Safe Mode. I have also run the hardware scans in the Lenovo Solution Center, scanned the hd for errors, and used the SFC scannow through the command prompt. with no problems uncovered. I am suspecting some kind of driver conflict, but it seems like it must be one of the pre-loaded drivers with the system, since I performed a factory restore and have not really installed anything new while trying to determine the problem other than Chrome, Firefox, Comodo Internet Security and Revo Uninstaller. The problem was ocurring before I installed those programs, too. Also, Windows Update has updated some things since restoring back to Windows 7 SP1, but again, the problems were occurring before those updates were installed. If anyone has any other ideas to try, I would be most grateful!

Hello, I've been having a couple of problems with my WiFi and thought I'd look for an updated driver. The trouble is, when I go to the Lenovo support site, there is nothing for the Broadcom wifi card :-S Details are:Device Manager name: Broadcom 802.11n Network AdapterHardware Ids: ....     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4&REV_01     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_058714E4     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_028000     PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_0280 So I think that means the broadcom device ID is 4727. Can anyone shed any light please? Thanks,Bri.

Recently my Z580 has been typing characters (specifiaclly a period) repeatedly, without me having pressed any key, whenever I open any applicaiton or software (such as notepad or the internet). Also whenever I press the b or n key it begins doing the same thing and types periods without stopping. I've tried cleaning the keayboard, but that didn't work. I have also tried booting in safe mode to see if the problem persisted and it did. I've scanned my computer for viruses as well but found nothing. So I'm out of ideas as to what to do. Hello. I have an Ideapad Z580. Formerly I had W8 installed and now I have 8.1. In both operation systems, I get an error message about my camera. It says ''Please connect a camera to get started'', that is it does not recognize it. And I believe it is all about the driver. See the pictures below. http://i40.tinypic.com/2m76vqx.png http://i43.tinypic.com/2v1ulxw.png After saying ''checking application profile'', it shuts itself down instantly. No other driver is broken like this, they finish. But this one is always cut in half. How can I get a proper driver of camera for W8.1? Thank you! http://i39.tinypic.com/nv7fcw.png

Hello there, 3 days after receiving my z580 (win7, i5 3210, 630m) i'm still fighting it. While tshooting an earlier issue i accidentally got rid of all the partitions in the hard drive, and now i can't use my wireless card (which i know was at least detecting my neighbors signals with the original OS). I think that just prior to deleting the original partitions i had used the function keys to disable the wireless card, and somehow that seems to have triggered a hardware switch which i can't seem to find a way to turn back on.I imagine that installing the osd/hotkey driver should restore that functionality but after trying everything in the z580 downloads page both for win7 and 8, plus some other possibly older lenovo hotkey drivers, i'm still without luck. I really miss the days when hardware switches were actual hardware switches.Thoughts?

I saw an update for my Ideapad Z580 Nvidia GT635M graphic card on nvidea website is it okay if update from there and will it cause any malfunction to the graphic when i install it?

Answer:Graphic card/Driver update question for Z580

hi ron153,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If you have the Lenovo Z580 with Intel HD Graphics + Nvidia GT635m, it is recommended that you install the graphics driver from the Lenovo site as these drivers are customized and certified for the Nvidia Optimus Technology (Intel HD + Nvidia graphics switching).

Although getting the latest drivers from the Nvidia website would be a good step, there's no guarantee that all features will work (like graphics switching between Intel and Nvidia) as the drivers are not customized to the design of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (in some cases, you may get an error No Suitable Graphics Device Found).

Hope this helps.

I bought my ideapad z580 in Mar 2013. Since it came with windows 8 which was hard to use, I didn't use the ideapad until this year when i downloaded windows 10. But the realtek internal microphone on this laptop seems to be very unsatisfactory and problematic. These are some of the issues I noticed with this microphone. 1) The recorded voice is very low volume compared to the background noise. If I go to Sound->Audio Devices->Microphone-> Levels and increase the Microphone Boost to +30dB and Microphone level to 100, then there is a very sharp background noise. 2) The recording is very low volume compared to other laptops that i have had. 3) There is always a strong hissing/background noise when recording anything.  4) Voice recording adobe flash doesn't record when run on Mozilla Firefox. When I use sites such as vocaroo.com to record voice, the mic doesn't record. I am using windows 10/firefox 43.0.1. When I use Chrome or IE, these sites record voice using mic but the recorded sound still has the issues listed above. I bought the laptop directly from lenovo website. Anyone else experienced these issues with the internal mic on this ideapad? How to fix them?Is the warranty still available on this?

Answer:Internal Microphone on Ideapad z580 has background noise, lots of issues

Can Lenovo rep help with this issue? Unbelievable that this PC comes with this low-quality microphone and there is no help...

Hi, Greetings!!! This is my first post to this forum as i bought my lenovo IDEAPAD Z580 laptop recently. I read the much about Disk Partitions and one key recovery query. Now, I decided that i wont bother about OKR and will go for fresh partition my disk drive as per my needs and a fresh installation of WIN7.So, my question is, what software and drivers i need to backup first so i will have all per-installed softwares/fucntion - keys working correctly except OKR after installation from scratch? Is backing up  all which are there in Lenovo_Driver Folder will serve the purpose? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Need all Softwares and Driver list required for LENOVO IDEAPAD Z580

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

Since you wish to perform a fresh instillation, I would recommend that you first create a copy of recovery DVD?s using OKR, Then you can manually copy all the drivers from Lenovo Driver Folder to an external drive or thumb drive. You can also download all drivers from our support website

Hey guy, Just trying to update my graphic card to prepare it for Black Ops 2, AC 3 etc. But whenever I try to install THIS driver, nothing happens. I just click setup.exe, and still, nothing happens. If somebody could have helped me, it would be great. Waiting for a solution, thanks.

I am setting up this laptop for a family member. It came with win8, but I put in a new ssd and installed win7 pro ( I am tech support and I hate win8 and don't know it well enough to take care of the inevitible support issues). I downloaded all the appropriate drivers from the Lenovo website for the correct version of windows and this machine. Everything seemed to work fine. Then, for quite a while, when I booted the machine it would start up with the energy management software, or the keyboard, or the one touch keys and/or the touchpad, or all of the above, not working. Or the touchpad would eventually work, but with almost no functionality and the synaptics setup tab showing only a patent, and no options for tweaking the touchpad. And the Fn F6 buttons might show the icon for the touchpad being shut off, but is was not. I uninstalled, reinstalled, tried different versions, eventually I thought I had it beat. I could boot the machine and everything actually works. Until today. After several reboots the keyboard and touchpad were refusing to work. Then after several more boots, the keyboard worked, but not the TP. Then the TP would work, but with limited functionality. A few more reboots and the TP is working as it should. I thought maybe having my corded mouse plugged in when booting might be confusing it somehow, but unplugging it and several reboots later there was no joy. Other times it lit right up with the mouse plugged in and the TP worked as i... Read more

Hi All, Your urgent attention to this issue is highly appreciated. I had purchased Lenovo Z580 laptop (QB05312638) on 25/08/2012. On the date of my purchase there was an advertisement from Lenovo stating " 3 years Warranty" ( 1 year accidental damage + Onsite warranty & 2 years Carriage Warranty). However my laptop was down and required to be serviced within a year due to keyboard case problem. This was serviced at that time and now I am facing same issue of keyboard case problem which led to my display flickering issue as advised by Lenovo authorized service centre. Though my Laptop is still under 3 year warranty, the service centre states that I have only " 1 year of Warranty " as per the records and charges me INR 16,000.00 to service the display issue. Also the service centre states if my record shows this as " 3 year period of Warranty " they would do the needful. Out of my interest I had spent the amount from my pocket for the keyboard case of INR 7000.00. Please advise if the warranty period could be changed to 3 years so that the display could be changed. I am also trying to get in touch with the service team ( [email protected] & [email protected] ), however there is no response inspite of multiple chasers. NOTE : My Lenovo laptop (Z580) is still with the Lenovo service centre for more than 45 days, awaiting an update from lenovo. My 3 year warrant expires on 25/08/2015. Thanks & Warm Regards... Read more

Just a headsup - This is NOT the official support forum. You may get advice from a mod but it is not certain.

Your best option is to call Lenovo and try to talk to their Manager.

Also, once your warranty expires, it cannot be renewed. You can check the warrranty status online here -

A friend of mine recently received a Y50-70 that came pre-installed with Windows 8.1. However, not being a fan of 8.1, they wanted to have 7 on there instead. The clean installation runs fine. However, the Nvidia driver says that it is not compatible. We tried both the Lenovo page and Nvidia's site, and neither work (using auto-scan on Nvidia just tells us to come here).I've tried everything that I can think of to try to get the installations to work, but to no avail. Formatting/deleting partitions and reinstalling Windows 7 (thinking that it was a past partition/driver issue) yeilded the same result. Why  would this problem be occuring? For reference: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y50-70-n...And the drivers page: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y50-70-n...

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Regards

As the title says, just wondered if theres any lenovo software the works with the z580 ? lenovo companion on windows 8 offers some stuff but its listed as u series ect ? cheers for replys inadvance, mike

Answer:(z580) Just wondered what lenovo software will work with the z580 ?

hi mikee77,

The Lenovo Z580 comes with these lenovo pre-installed apps:

Lenovo OneKey RecoveryLenovo OneKey TheaterLenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSyncLenovo Energy ManagementLenovo Companion

The Lenovo Companion is like an app store the features:

Third-Party Apps and Ads
Lenovo products, Tutorials, Application showcases, Lenovo accessories information, Lenovo Cloud, and a link to Lenovo blogs and articles

Most apps listed on the Lenovo Companion will work on the Z580 as long as it meets the system requirements (i.e. If an app is made only for Touchscreen models, then you will need to get the non-touchscreen version or if there's a Utility app that senses temperature on a specific model, make sure Z580 is on the supported models).

Hope this helps.

Hello, I have recently updated my OS to Windows 10 and since then I am having issues with drivers on my HP Probook 470 G1. I have updated all the drivers from the HP website but that did not fix the issues. You can find in the following image the drivers that I am having  issues with:   Now, I also had the issue with the "Internal Power Error" after trying to update the graphic driver directly from AMD - but I solved that one. I tried with uninstaliing, reinstalling etc... but with no luck in solving the issue. Maybe I am missing something, I did try a lot of things.. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
