I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Looking for a fix to this screen flickering issue on my Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Touch Screen Notebook. I took it to the Service Center and the technicians there changed the LCD cable that connects the screen with the motherboard. Still, The problem persists. The engineers over there do not seem to have a clue whether this problem is Hardware or Software and I don't wish to unnecessary get my machine disassembled again. This flicker does not happen continuously though. My notebook works fine if i keep it unmoved on the desk. But the moment i try to adjust the lid or move my notebook around, the flickering starts. To stop it, I simply put my machine on sleep mode or close the lid for 5 odd minutes. Upon wake up, The Screen again appears to work fine minus any flicker. Would appreciate any help in this regard. I have also captured a Video of the problem. Please Refer: http://youtu.be/kp12dYt6OWE

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Touch Screen Flickering!

I am having the same problem.  The screen, it seems to be the touch screen like someone is touching it, Also, magnifies in and out.  If I move the laptop, or the screen that can cause it to start.  Or it just starts by its self, if I leave it on, when I come back it flickering.  I have to close it down and start all over again.I took it to a shop, they tried a few things but couldn't fix it, some suggestions: they thought it might be something to do with the graphics?? Maybe!   If anybody has this problem and sloved it, be really good to hear from you.

Hi,My ideapad z500 each time stucks at "lenovo splash screen", but pressing any key will continue to boot and system will run without any issue. This problem is there almost 90% time when I restart or power on my machine. This problem is very annoying because whenever due to windows update machine restarts multiple time i have to sit there to press the key, its very painful. My BIOS version is 1.21, I have also tried resstting the BIOS by entering to BIOS setup, but issue is not resolved. This issue is not new, this was there when I bought this laptop, initially I ignored it because of workaround. . is there any solution to this problem?

Answer:Ideapad z500 (without touch) stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

I enabled startup password in BIOS to troubleshoot the problem, when I rebooted the system on BIOS password prompt appeared with continuous beep and none of the keys were working, I pressed enter and "Invalid password" pop-up came and beep stopped.Does it look like hardware problem?

Hi all, I've had my Lenovo ideaPad Z500 Touch for 2 years already, and this is the first time my KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT has stopped working. I am using Windows 8.1 (always updated) on a 64-bit OS. There has been no trauma to the device prior to the disfunction, however I did recently install CCleaner to my laptop to speed up the starting time (which may or may not have anything to do with the disfunction, but I am bookmarking it as a possibility since before installation my keyboard backlight was working just fine). Around the same time I also recently updatedWindows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - March 2015 (KB890830) upon recommendation from Windows Update, prior to which there was also nothing wrong with my keyboard backlight. (1) I have tried the Fn+SpaceBar option (as I usually do to toggle on/off when I'm doing work), but the backlight still does not turn on.(2) I have tried reinstalling Lenovo Energy Management (as has been recommended in previous posts), but it still does not work even after restarting. Since the last post on this was some time ago (last one on 2nd January 2014 with solutions that do not work for me), I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me on this issue. Thank you so much,

Hi metryc,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Booting into the Recovery Environment.
(From an OFF state, Press the One key Recovery Button)
Select Recovery.   We are not going to continue the Recovery, Just the Environment.

Once you saw your Mouse pointer, Try your touchscreen.
If that did not work there as well.

My IdeaPad U310 Touch running Windows 7 is having touchpad problems. With no touchpad drivers installed, it shows up as a generic "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" and has basic functionality - I can move the pointer and click, but no gestures, scrolling or other touch features.

Link to image 1

I then installed 0wto11ww.exe, "TouchPad Driver (Synaptics, Cypress)" from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u310-... . Version 15.3.33.0/2.3.6.31, released 4/24/2012.

After installing, I manually updated the driver via Device Manager and rebooted. Now the computer identifies the touchpad as a "Lenovo pointing device".

However, the computer doesn't respond to the touchpad at all. No mouse moving or clicking is working. Enabling/disabling the touchpad via Fn+F6 has no effect. I rebooted in safe mode and the touchpad was still unresponsive.

Link to image 2

I think I'm on the right track, because when I installed 0wto11ww.exe, the touchpad configuration tab showed up in control panel's "Mouse Properties". I can configure all the touchpad's advanced features now, but Windows 7 continues to ignore the input.

Any ideas on how to further troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!

Drivers all show working properly. Not intermittent. Tried settings and no help. No response when touching screen at all. Can't calibrate. Bios has no update available. Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas. If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate? Is there any recall? I see this issue on the forum a lot with not many folks getting it resolved.TIA!!

Answer:U310 IdeaPad Touch :The Touch Screen Stopped Working. No Previous Posts Have Helped.

hi c2nah777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"

See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working.  I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution.  I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

I have the IdeaPad S510p touch, which seems to have a similar problem as other Lenovo models where the touch screen seems to stop working intermittently.  It seems to stop working after a while or after it has been sleeping.  It starts working again randomly.  I tried downloading a driver for a different model, but it didn't load or allow me to open it.  I just got this computer a few days ago.  I'm not sure if it is better just to take it back to the store, but I am concerned that this problem will exist even if I exchange it for a new one...

Answer:Touch Screen intermittently working (IdeaPad S510p touch)

Hello... I have an ideapad S510p, about 4 months old. Today, the touch screen stopped working. In the middle of using an app and using the touch screen. I searched all through settings and can't find anywhere to adjust its settings or anything. And in fact I saw that this computer "Has no touch/pen screen", which it does. Or it did until about an hour ago. I am relatively clueless but i'm learning. And would like some instruction/options. ThanksJohnpal716

Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

The hinges on my computer were askew, so I sent my computer to the service center. After 3 weeks, they returned my computer to me and told me that the top "chassi" and the bottom cover have been replaced. Not sure what they meant, because the people that fixed my computer were not there at the store to explain it to me, but I'm assuming that it's the top and bottom cover of my computer. I was told that the hardware and the software are still intact, because they didn't have to alter anything during the reparation of my computer. The first thing I noticed when I started using my computer again is that it is very slow. It makes that "thinking" clicking sound all the time, even when I'm not using the computer (No programs/files open, long after the computer's startup). The system was VERY slow. It was laggy and irresponsive most of the time. I deleted multiple useless files and download new antivirus software to make sure that my computer is clean. The computer is no longer laggy, but the "thinking" sound is still there (it's there all the time).  The second thing I noticed is how my touchpad didn't respond to my click. I can move the cursor around perfectly fine, but I cannot click. Neither with a tap on the touchpad nor with an actual click on the touchpad. The touchpad registers my touch, but not my click :/ Does this have anything to do with the aforementioned hardware/software/harddrive/drivers? (My computer terminology is terrible, sorry). Thank you.&nb... Read more

Hi there,So I've had my laptop for a while now and the touch screen stopped working a long time ago as well. I figured that I would wait until maybe someone posted a solution somewhere but there hasn't been any posts about it (that I could find) and it's been a really long time so I figured I would ask. So here's the problem. Touch screen stopped working. No idea why. Quite suddenly the touch screen decided to no longer work. I checked the driver and the computer says its functioning properly. I tried to see if there was some kind of update that I should download, and my efforts yet again were in vain. Alas, I figured the more knowledgable might be able to guide me in the right direction so....any ideas? With thanks,Matt

Hello,   I recently did a factory reset on my Lenovo IdeaPad P400, and now my touch screen doesn't work, at all.  Before the reset, it worked perfectly.  I don't have any viruses, malware, or hardware issues.  If I go to control panel and look at the my computer properties, it says "No Pen or Touch input available for this system" or whatever.  Also, i've tried the FW update .exe thing, and when I click start it tells me "no controller available" or something like that.  I also tried using the OneKey Recovery option, and "Refreshing" my PC.  Also didn't work.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello, good evening, I have had an off-and-on issue with my trackpad not working. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. One moment it will work, the next, it doesn't. I have been bearing with it for months now (plugging in a usb mouse when it won't work for an extended period of time). Today, I stopped working during a timed test (I am a college student), and took 5 minutes to get it to work again. Valuable, precious time that could have meant the difference between an A and the D I ended up with (just kidding that low grade had to do with a refusal to study, but it could have been the cursor refusing to move!). Key points:I know this is not an issue with the function (fn) buttons. Tried that.I don't think it's drivers, because it works sometimes. The pad has been crooked since I got it (eg.: the left side is almost higher than the area around it, while the right side is sunken 2mm below the same area. The back appears to be even on both sides.) Any ideas?

Answer:Ideapad U310 touch touch pad not working

hi meagaletr,

Welcome to the Forums.

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

When the touchpad doesn't work, can you check if the touchpad system icon detects that you're still putting pressure on the pad as shown below:

If you get the same scenario then it's possible that the touchpad is malfunctioning (possibly grounded) and you may need to contact lenovo for service.

Hello all. My Laptop's screen is currently heavily cracked due to my own clumsiness though I've noticed that it is just the glass digitizer over the LCD. My issue is that I can't seem to find a straight up replacement part to swap over the old cracked glass. Any help finding one would brilliant. Failing that I've found the digitizer for a U350 which looks like it has identical dimensions; would it be possible to use this instead? Laptop is IdeaPad Z500 Touch as stated in the subject. Kind regards to all.

This started happening yesterday with my laptop. When I plug in the AC adaptor, it provides power to my laptop but doesn't charge it. My laptop battery is at 0% so whenever I unplug the adaptor, it dies instantly. Anyone know if this is a dead battery or another issue?

I seem to be having issues with my touchpad. When I move my finger at a steady pace across the pad, the pointer jumps. This is particularly noticeable when moving it slowly and diagonally, which produces a stepped pattern. I have pasted a demonstration below, produced by moving my finger from the top left to bottom right of the pad at a slow pace in MS paint.  I got my machine recently, but only noticed this issue today. It is an ELAN device, and the latest drivers as listed on the support pages here are installed.

Answer:Z500 Touch Touchpad is jumpy/produces a zig zag pattern

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

I just received a Z500 Touch with Windows 8 yesterday, and I decided that today I'd like to play some first-person games. I found that my mouse would not move while I was walking on the game (i.e. using WASD/Arrow Keys/Space) and so I could not move in the desired direction or look at a certain thing without releasing all keys and using the Touch pad.  Obviously, this isn't great when in active parts of the game - you can't stay still while aiming without cover! I looked online to see if there were any fixes, I found a few, but they were for Dell laptops or not for Elan. I tried going into regedit from cmd and trying to change the "DisableWhenType_Enable" value to "0", and the same with "DisableWhenType_AllAreas", but to no avail. Is there a fix for this, or is it just me being blindly stupid and missing a massive answer? Thanks,Darthnoodles

Hi, My G400s series touch screen laptop touch not working. It stops working just one month back. It was purchased around 16 months back. I have done all the trick which suggested on the forum by many users but all in vain. I have always updated with latest updates by Microsoft including Window 8.1/latest driver by Lenovo but I think this is not the issue with Windows upgrade because this was done months back and touch was working perfectly. If this is hardware problem the Lenovo should accept the fault and change the failure part free of cost or come up with some solution because many Lenovo users suffering with this problem. Hi, I have screen brightness problem and 5GHz wifi not discovering after window 10 installed. I know the easy option to downgrade is 30 days period which has already past. I was looking option to downgrade through Onekey Rescue System, But I am confuse here as I don't have OS back up in cd/dvd or anything. Can i do without it? if I make copy of OS now, which OS will be backup Win8 or Win10 (current using)? Please advise me what to do.Thanks

Answer:Ideapad Z500 Touch downgrade from win10 to win8 or 7

"...I was looking option to downgrade through Onekey Rescue System, But I am confuse here as I don't have OS back up in cd/dvd or anything. Can i do without it?" Comment: A copy of the Win 8 including all programs from the factory is place in a hidden partition of the hdd. You need OneKey Recovery program to access it and be able to restore the unit to factory consition. "...if I make copy of OS now, which OS will be backup Win8 or Win10 (current using)?" Comment: First of all how will you do the copy? If it is in Win 10 then you will have a Win 10 backup. That is after the upgrade to Win 10 you will not be able to make a backup through OKR but in Win 10 only.

When I was playing Mass Effect 2 the game would suddenly freeze but the sound would keep going, though it would sound like a horn being blown down industrial fans and every so often would revert back to normal. If I had earphones in it would keep swiching to speakers instead. If I didn't Ctrl+Alt+Delete to task manager the laptop would sometimes blue screen or if I didn't end the task it could also blue screen. I thought the laptop needed to be refreshed so I did so, reinstalled all drivers and the game but it was still happening. I even found that when I went onto the nvidia control panel and looked at the spinning preview image, after a few seconds the system would freeze until getting the message about the driver not responding and successfully recovering. I've tried 3 drivers (The original that shipped with the laptop, the latest lenovo released driver and nvidia's latest driver) but they all had the same problem. For now I have just completely removed the nvidia drivers and haven't had any more problems. I would like to get the graphics card working again and was hoping someone might know a soloution. The Graphics Card is the Nvidia GeForce GT 740M. The most common blue screen I was getting when I wasn't gaming was the driver_power_state_failiure one and when I was I think it was the dpc_watchdog_violation one.

I just bought HP 1000-1b09AU Notebook PC. And I think the touchpad on/off (button?) is not working. Hi Just wondering if that is possible? It should be if somebody knows the path (command line prompt to that function) which is then pasted to the 2 finger double tab configure section of the ultranav menu.On the side note, the latest update for the thinkpad ultranav finally made the gesturing and the movement of the touchpad more responsive. I used to have the 2 finger double tap for the windows aero flipping but after the update it was lost and that post i originally made regarding this seems to have been lost in the hundreds of posting on this forum....(Maybe we should have a reference sheet of all the command line shortcuts for simple functions such as right clicking, going to the desktop, switching between applications etc in a list so people can configure their 2 finger double tap or the 3 finger press in the ultranav since all thinkpads these days have the multitouch capibility) Thanks

I have a Touch Smart All-in-one PC H110 that I just bought about 2 weeks ago.  This was manufactured a while ago, but I just got it with a solid-state hard drive.  I think that the touch screen worked properly when I first tried it.  I have loaded up all of my programs and now the touch screen works with a single touch and hold, but I cannot get any double-click action using the test program.  I uninstalled the HID compliant touch screen from the device manager menus and then rebooted to restore it but the problem remains.  I think that the Microsoft driver 10.0.14393.351 dated 6/21/2006 is the latest driver, but I am not sure of that.  The computer works fine except for this problem.  How can I be sure that my driver is not corrupted?Microsoft has a "Refresh" function available from a rescue bootable USB drive, but that will remove all of my programs and I am not sure if it will replace the driver. Can anyone suggest a way to know that the driver is being replaced with a good version?  If I have to use the Refresh program does that insure that I will get a new driver? I notice that there is a new UEFI boot for this PC dated October, 2016?  I doubt that a UEFI update will solve the problem so have not done it. Can anyone help me with suggestions as to how to solve this touch screen problem.Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.David

Hi, Basically, my girlfriend's laptop has been acting up for a couple of months now. Every other week, it will just crap out and refuse to start up past the POST screen. When this first happened, I googled to see how I could get her back in and created a recovery disk using the tools provided in Windows 8. Using this, she managed to recover some key files before having to reset the PC (deleting everything but the Windows files). Since then, this problem has persisted despite several attempts to prevent it (using less of the hard disk, turning it off regularly and so on), and we were told at a laptop repair shop that it was most likely the hard disk. Upon hearing this, I ordered her a new Samsung hard drive (2.5 inch, 1tb, 5400rpm) to replace her existing one which seems to be dying/dead. I have two main questions, which are: Was the laptop repair guy correct in his assumption that it was the hard disk which was the issue? If we replace the old hard drive with the new one, can we retain the copy of windows and the various lenovo drivers and utilities it includes? Thanks for your help, A8

Answer:Laptop (ideapad z500 touch) crashes and refuses to boot, needing to be booted from USB

Was the laptop repair guy correct in his assumption that it was the hard disk which was the issue?Answer: Maybe. If we replace the old hard drive with the new one, can we retain the copy of windows and the various lenovo drivers and utilities it includes?     Answer: Lenovo drivers and utilities are in D drive and also in Lenovo's download site. As to the copy of Windows it is                    located in a hidden partition and difficult to copy.

Make sure Windows has updated entirely. As it is a brand new operating system, there will be some bugs . Microsoft released a 1GB patch and that might solve some issues for you. Just search Update in Cortana and select the Windows Update/Settings option, then check for updates and install them.

Answer:Solved: touch pad doent open an icon if you double click

Can you not tap the touchpad for anything? Do the buttons work? You may need to install drivers for it. Most laptops use Synaptics. If you don't see the drivers on HP's site, you can try generic drivers from http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers.

This just happened today. Everytime I click anwhere on the trackpad, aside from the dedicated left click right click sections, it automatically double clicks. If i click on the left bottom side dedicated to the left click it works fine. The bottom right side works fine as well. It seems as if the touch pad is registering a finger that is not there. Sometime is will zoom into a webpage as if im using the pinching guesture on the touchpad. The curser isnt moving as smoothly either. The scroll up and down guesture seems to be not working either. I reinstalled the Driver, but it hasnt helped it.

Hi, I have been having a problem for sometimes ago on my lenovo z500 touch laptop. When I play video file, the player ( vlc) run a few frames, then it stop, after many seconds or at least a minute or more, it can play the video normally.  Before this problem occurred, I can play the video file almost instantly (well, have to wait a few seconds for the player to start, after that it can play without running a few frames then stop). Before this, I have problem adjusting the screen brightness (it goes minimum brightness when i press the adjust button). So, I have updated the intel HD graphics driver (version 9.17.10.3223/10.18.10.3277 ) which i have download from the lenovo website. After that the problem with video happened but brightness screen problem solved. I have also try it on windows media player, still I have to wait  as long as the vlc to play without seeing it the run a few frames then stop. I also update NVIDIA often using driver downloaded from nvidia website. So, what happened? I am using windows 8.1, 4 GB RAM.

2. My company using IBM Notes, where to open an email needs to double click on the mail item. But when tried double clicking on the item, Edge or IE just Zoom in or Zoom out, instead on opening the item.

Hello, I have  a lenovo Z500 touch that I have seldom used in the 3 years since I bought it mostly playing music when on holiday. I have just started trying to use it with Cubase music production software with an external monitor via HDMI. Several times a day the system freezes and can only be recovered by hard reset. There is no sign in the system event log of a problem until after a restart when the kernel reports that the system wasn't cleanly shut down. The system is much more stable using only the integrated display. I discovered that there is a downloadable Lenovo Diagnostics CD which is built on a Linux base. The Z500 freezes every time in the Video Card stress test both with and without an HDMI connected display. It has now also frozen on one of the extended memory tests. It is exactly the same type of freeze as occurs with Windows. So, this is not a Windows problem as it occurs in the diagnostics Linux system. In Windows it only ever fails when a second display is connected so looks like it is related to the Intel HD 4000 graphics. Running HWMonitor there is no sign of high CPU temperatures. At the point of freezing, which I have just directly watched, the screen flickers. For a short while after the freeze the keyboard back light can be switched on and off and then about 30 seconds after it stops responding. caps lock and num lock don't respond immediately after the freeze. I stongly suspect that there is a serious hardware problem and ... Read more

Answer:Z500 Touch freezing in Windows, Linux and Lenovo Diagnostics

Start with memory diagnostics. But could also be the motherboard. Eliminate memory as the cause. If you have two modules you can also test one at a time if you have crashes with one only then you know.

Black screen after replacing the case. I apologize in advance for my bad English. After replacing the case (inside nothing changed), the laptop shows a black screen. When connecting an external monitor, there is also no image. I checked all the contacts - everything is connected correctly. In this case, the laptop does not boot into windows (there is no reaction to the capslock, there is no lenovo logo), although the cooler starts, all the indicators are lit. When connecting or disconnecting the power adapter, the laptop issues beep, I can not understand what the problem may be. I will be grateful for any help.

New Dell Inspiron 5567.
In all of my previous computers from different companies but not Dell, "Mouse Properties" has included one additional tab on the far right of the tabs, which has a setting to Disable Touch to Click.

Mouse Properties on this laptop does not have that, nor can I find that simple but for me essential setting option.

How do I do that?

Answer:backlight on keyboard for z500 touch not working

hi Gadi621,

Welcome to the Forums.

I'm not seing any changelog related to any keyboard backlight changee from the BIOS readme.txt file so I think it's unlikely that updating the BIOS is the cause of the problem.

Just to check, when you power up the machine, do you see the keyboard backlight turning on?

Ideally, for the backlit to work, the following must be met:
1. A backlit-type keyboard must be installe (you can tell if the keyboard has backlights when there's a "crown" like icon on the space bar.
    - Link to picture
2. The keyboard ribbon & power cable (for backlit) must be properly connected to the motherboard
    - Link to picture
    - Link to picture

If one of the following is not met, the backlight feature won't work.

Regards

When using the touch pad, I double click by tapping twice consecutively. For instance, I double tap and hold an icon on the desktop, and then I release the icon. But sometimes, and quite frequently for no apparent reason, it will register another click when I release my finger from the pad. This means that when I let go of the icon, it will click it an open it again. This is extremely frustrating becuase I double tap frequently and there's always that gratuitous and annoying click that follows. Is there a way to fix this extraneous click?

Answer:IdeaPad z710 touch pad clicks an extra time after double tapping

Hi Vikingfetus,

Welcome to Lenovo forums

As I understood that you are facing the issue with touchpad on your Lenovo z710laptop.

Check if the touchpad drivers have been installed.

If yes, go to mouse setting and set to default and check. Also try reducing the sensitivity of the touchpad, if the issue still persist reinstall the touchpad drivers and check.

Check with external mouse as well.

Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.

Best regards,

Hi Guys, I recently knew from my older brother that there's an option to disabled the touch pad, while using the laptop with the mouse. Because my touch is extra sensitive that when I'm working at times my palm touches it, and it transfers the cursor anywhere. But I like the sensitivity though because when I don't have a mouse, I can tap lightly twice and it opens the files or the links. But since using Fn+F6 for a week, I lost the sensitivity on my touch pad. I need to press hard once to click or open links or files. I tried modifying the touchpad sensitivity option, but no avail. Please help me, I'm a freelance worker and at times I don't work with a mouse.  Thanks,Brent

Hi,

I have Lenovo z500 Touch version.

My first question: Is there an option to turn off the touch screen? It takes a lot off battery and i rearly use it.

The second issue:
I have 8 GB of RAM memory, the constent state is about 45% memory use.
when I look at the task manager and I calculate the precentge of use by different processes and the amout of space they take in MB it looks like I have only 4 GB of memory.

For exemple, 800 MB use by the anti-virus is translated to almost 20%, somthing dosent end-up right.
I checked the hardware in Everset and in thesettings and they both showes 8GB

IS IT POSSIBLE?

Answer:Lenovo z500 - High memory usege+turn off the touch screen

hi SolFine,

Welcome to the Forums.

There's no feature to turn OFF/ON the touchscreen but you can try to disable it via the Device Manager > Human Interface Devices (there are usually 2-3 entries here and one of them controls the Touchscreen > right click on it and choose disable)

As for the RAM usage, can you try open System Properties (Winkey+I > PC Info) and check the Installed RAM area,
- Link to picture

If it says 8GB (4.xx usable), the RAM is most likely being allocated to the Integrated Graphics Processor.

Hi I got my Lenovo Ideapad U410 Touch a while ago, but unfortuneately I quickly encountered issues with the touchpad. When ever I start typing on the keyboard I can't immediatly access the touchpad unless I move my finger over it etc. (as if it needs to be 'woken up'.) This is especially annoying in Microsoft Office Word, where I often need to change settings, which are possible with a quick tap on the touchpad.  I am currently running Synaptics Touchpad Driver 16.3.4.0. I tried to install the 17.0.19 driver, but for some unknown reason it wasn't possible (error message appears.) I remember in the beginning, I also experienced that the toucpad became unresponsive if I used it and started typing simultaneously. It was quite clear, if I moved the mouse pointer in circles and started typing. The pointer would then stop, until it 'woke up' again from my continous movement. I hope someone might got an idea for a solution to the problem. Thanks in advance for your help! -amsel

I am used to keeping my thumb on the button while moving the mouse using a finger on the touchpad.  With this touchpad, the button area itself is also part of the touch sensitive area.  So the touchpad considers me as having two fingers on the touchpad and if I move my thumb on the button, it will move the mouse accordingly. Is there a way to disable touch over the button areas? Thanks! Ideadpad U310 Touch / Win 8.1 Professional

Dear Support, today I received my IdeaPad U330 touch and something "funny" occurs. When using the touchpad it is trying to mark anything (drawing that rectangle we all know when you hold your mouse and drag). Only if i double tap on the touchpad it let's me control the cursor in the regular way. After calling your support I have set the ideapad to default and the same happens. Also tried installing the latest drivers. Still no better.Using an external USB mouse works fine though, however due to much flying I really cannot rely on a mouse. Thank you in advance Steffen

Can anyone please help me figure out the solution to this? My Dell 14R 5437's touchpad isn't properly working lately. It's right-click button and double-tap to right click function isn't working as intended; the left-click button and single-tap to left click function is working ok. When plugging an external mouse, however, I can right click as normal.
I tried reinstalling the driver from the Dell website and it's still not working properly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi all,
I'm currently operating with a Dell Latitude (E6410) running Windows 7 32-bit. I have the default Alps touchpad built-in, and was recently ecstatic to find the driver for multi-touch on the Dell Support page, something I figured I'd never get privileged to since this doesn't have a Synaptics touchpad.
Everything works as it;s supposed to, as far as the options go under the Dell Pointing Devices menu. However, I noticed that two-finger options are missing, specifically a two-finger right click. This is odd, seeing as there are plenty of other two-finger options, and since two-finger right click has become a standard with multi-touch touchpads.
So my question is, is there anything I can do to get two-finger right click? I don't see any options officially provided by Dell, so I'm totally okay with installing software or drivers from somewhere else, as long as they work. I haven't been able to find anything myself, as it seems every driver and software in the world is developed with Synaptics in mind.

I just installed a new SSD in my Z500 Touch and did a Windows 8 clean install. Everything seems to be working fine except the Fn+Space feature to turn on and off the back lit keyboard. The keyboard is now constantly lit up and i can't seem to turn it off. It will go on and off if I close the lid but I can't manually turn it off. Any suggestions?

Answer:Fn+Space not working Windows 8 clean install Z500 Touch

hi clone1008,

Thank you for using Lenovo Community Forums!

You might need to check the Lenovo Energy Management as this software that controls the Fn+space and other function keys.
This is the version for your computer,

Lenovo Energy Management for Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
Try resetting your BIOS to default settings as well.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

I am an older person who uses my ThinkPad X120e away from the office quite a bit.  In the last few years my hands have become increasingly shaky.  What is happening is that when I move my finger around on the touchpad the cursor will pass over icons and buttons on the screen.  Often my finger gives an inadvertent bounce and whoops I just selected an ad or feature I did not intend to select.  So my question:  Is there a way to disable the select on tap function of the touchpad?  I still want to use it to navigate but prefer to use the keys to do the selecting because of my unsteady hands. Note to Marketing types - There are an increasing number of us old farts who are looking for ways to stay active on line in spite of our impairments. Thanks for any help, hoping this is a simple adjustment I have not found yet.

Answer:Can I disable the 'touch select' and multi touch features on my touchpad

Oceanglenn, welcome to the forum,

if you go to mouse settings in control panel you can disable this function by removing the "tick" in enable tap zones, or adjust it to how it's comfortable for you;

Alternatively you can also reach the settings by using the key combination Fn + F8

Hope this helps

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

The problem is that when I press the right mouse button nothing happens. I don't get the dropdown menu. I am able to get it by using thw two finger tap gesture and with an external mouse. Oddly enough I can two finger tap right on the rigth mouse button itself but I can't click it. I know the button is working but I don't know what happened. I updated the drivers frim the support page and this happened. I tried to look through the mouse properties from the control panel but could not find anything that would disable my right mouse button. when I press the right mouse button, on the "Buttons" tab on the properties, the button configuration menu switches to "other pointing devices. Suggesting that the right mouse button is not connected to the trackpad???  I Can't for the life of me find another person with a simlar situation so I must ahve done soemthing so obvous and wrong. I would glady appreciate any suggestions to solve my predicament. Thanks.
