Preferred Solution: Lenovo Ideapad Z570 (1024 model) - Upgrade RAM to 16 GB

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo Ideapad Z570 (1024 model) - Upgrade RAM to 16 GB

hi Balasubramanian,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Is it detecting all of the 16GB RAM?

Thanks for this info, many users would like to check first if any other user had successfully upgraded beyond what is being offered on the web.

Hi all, Am looking to reinstall the OS for an old Lenovo IdeaPad for a friend of the family. But it is an old installation, and, when I try to download the ISO from Windows using the product key and S/N, I'm told: "the product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer." When I go to Lenovo, the customer support number did not call me back. Looking through the docs, I am less optimistic that there is a supported way to do this. Has anyone gone through this and can offer any advice? Thank you,Patty

I need BIOS update for Windows 8 update for my Ideapad Z570-1024 AFU model laptop. Secure Boot feature and some other features are disabled with the old BIOS. Thanks.

Answer:Need BIOS update for Ideapad Z570-1024 AFU model for Windows 8

Welcome to the forum ! Go to Lenovo's download page and enter in your model's information at the link below...... http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? Along with the BIOS update file there is also a text file explaining the "How To."  The text file is a good source of information if you have never done a BIOS update.  Prior to doing the update, check what BIOS version is currently installed on your system.  The BIOS download is version 44CN38WW and there is a good chance you already have a newer version installed on your system. At least mine has.  For some reason the download being offered isn't the latest that is being installed on new machines.

Answer:Motherboard for Ideapad z570 - Part No : 1024 AFU

hi Varnareddy,

Welcome to the Forums.

Looking at the Parts Lookup page, the Z570 Model 1024AFU uses the following motherboard:

FRU#: 11013769 - LZ57 MB DIS GS 1G FOR DUAL CORE B3  SYSTEM BOARDS

I'm not familiar with the stores there in India but I looked online and I can't seem to find this part there. However, I looked into the spare parts list (Lenovo US) and the FRU#: 11013769 can be oredered via the Lenovo Parts Sales Hotline (877-453-6686, options 4-3-2).

Note:
The item can be shipped only in the U.S. / Canada. In case the part fails, there's a 30day return / 90days parts replacement.

Hi, I have just noticed that the metal covering the hinge on the left side of the keyboard near the speaker is warping, it looks like its bending due to the laptop being opened.. Surely this is right is it? I have called the vendor who advised me that the issue was not a fault but merely cosmetic so it was not there problem and I should speak to the manufacturer.  Whilst is not a problem now it no doubt soon will be if the hinge breaks or the screen pulls away.  What can I do? It seems really hard to contract Lenovo UK and after googling a method of contacting them, all I found were endless forums sites about how people have problems with their customer service ..help? Is there anyone on this site who can help or anyone from Lenovo customer care in the UK? Cheers Scott

Welcome to EightForums khainguyen97

I can only suggest is to Restore Factory Default Setting to remove W8 OS and re-install in a partition drive. You can check the official website of lenovo to get information or call the re-seller of lenovo laptop and ask them on how you can restore the previous OS.

Once you are done with the Factory Default Setting use this guide as DUAL Boot Clean Install - Windows 8 or Windows 8 To Go - Setup on a USB Flash Drive or USB Disk to install W8 and run properly. Or if you like to remove the default OS of your laptop use this http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...ndows-8-a.html but I prefer the clean installation in a partition drive, once you got in trouble of W8 you can use your previous OS.

Let us know once you made it.

I'm not the greatest when it comes to computers (yet).  I have a quick learning curve.  I have managed to install Linux Mint (Ubuntu) on my lenovo.  Its a slick OS.  I really would like to see if it's possible to install a new processor.  I would like to go from the i3 to an i5 at minimum but would prefer a decent i7 quad core + hyperthreading.  Would this require a new motherboard? Would there even be enough room in the laptop itself?  I'm good with the software aspects of computers but hardware, not so much.  If you would need more details in regards to the exact specs, please let me know.  I really hope someone can help! By the way, the reason I'm willing to invest in this is because I would like to have some sort of experience before i actually hit my computer engineering classes with hardware on top of having a slick running machine.

I have decided to upgrade my laptop's Wi-Fi modem to the newer one. So, I have checked the hardware maintenance manual for my laptop for the needed equipment and found out that the best option would be "WLAN card, 802.11a/g/n && 802.16e, Intel 6250NX MOW M PCIE NB HMC" (FRU number: 20002321). So, I have purchased this WLAN card and after the hardware installation BIOS started to display "104-unsupported network device detected" error. Even though I have upgraded BIOS to the latest available version. It would be great to have some explanation about the hardware compatibility. Otherwise it seems that I have just wasted my money on incompatible hardware.

I am generally a Mac user, but wanted a PC to run a few apps I can't run on my Mac, and didn't want to partition my drive and use Boot Camp (I'd done this previously, and chose not to do it this time). A few days ago I purchased a Lenovo 110-15ISK laptop, model number 80UD0017US. I had been looking at an HP laptop, but read that it was not so user friendly when upgrading the RAM and hard drive, and passed on that one (for that specific reason), and saw this Lenovo in the local Best Buy on sale. I usually check things out pretty throughly before I purchase, but I have to admit, I didn't on this purchase. Although the laptop is nice, I was not pleased to find out that you pretty much have to disassemble half of the computer to be able to access the memory and hard drive. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Anyway, I've decided to leave the hard drive as is, since it's a 1TB (although I prefer SSD and upgraded my MacBook Pro to an SSD on day 1 and love it!). However, I definitely want to upgrade the RAM from 4GB. I was a little horrified to find out that the 4GB is soldered onto the motherboard, and that there's only one available slot for RAM. I've read up a bit on it, on both this forum and through Google and Bing searches, and it seems there are differing opinions on how much RAM this model can accept and still be stable. Some say it can take as much as a 16GB DDR4 stick bringing the memory up to 20GB, and some say that the max is a 4GB stick, bringing the RAM u... Read more

I have a Lenovo ideapad z570 model name: 20095 with i5 core , it came with windows 7 home installed , so i never had any trouble with the drivers , but lately i dual-booted between the win 7 and kali linux (debian-wheezy) , so to enable the 3D graphics card i had to install bumblebee and then get my driver ....that's when i faced the problem , i googled it and supposedly my Z570 contains a "NVIDIA® Geforce® GT520M " and a "intel hd 300 graphics card" also supposedly supporting switchable graphics from a switch in the front of the device , i thought thats strange well for starters i have no switch , and second when i downloaded the driver for linux it said that it couldn't determine any nvidia chipset on my device ! i thought i got the wrong driver so i switched back to windows and tried to run the nvidia driver that came with the laptop and guess what ! it also said that my no nvidia chipset determined on the machine ...so there's no nvidia card ,ok i can live with that , what i can't live with is not having any official way of knowing what does my device have inside and i do not trust any 3rd party software to do the job not to mention that it never gets it totally right ,and i couldn't find the different specification for the different model names of the z570 on any lenovo website ....so my question in short in case i lost you along the way : what graphics card does my laptop have ? and where i can get its 64 bit driver for linux ?? So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

i don't know if it's possiple , but i think that other models of this laptop have bith gpu's inside ,so can i add this option if i want , buy the chip and have it put inside? i mean is it possible ? i assume the motherboard can support it coz it's basically the same without the expensive nvidia card....nw i want it , can i have it? the service center in my country , do not do it , its only for replacing items (that's what they said< they have no maintenace/upgrade support they only change defected parts with new ones ,coz they are just seller not Lenovo ), so i think i have to do it by myself , since my warranty ended anyway .....can any body help me or at least point a finger ?

Answer:Z570 GPU upgrade (the model with intel hd 3000 gpu only )

Only about a dozen laptop models have ever existed with interchangable graphics, and IBM/Lenovo have never sold any of them. The only way is to either buy a replacement motherboard with the 520M already integrated, or get a docking station with better graphics if one's available. The 520M is definitely NOT worth the hassle of replacing everything, it's only 50% more powerful.

The Lenovo IdeaPad I'm working on has an issue wherein the built-in webcam claims to be "being used by another program" when opened with Skype and easycam, and online webcam checkers also failed to register a picture. I tried the following approaches:Reinstalling drivers.enabling, then disabling the device.Uninstall, then reinstall both skype and YouCamupdate Microsoft Windows 7 with all service packagesupdate all driversrollback webcam driversUse task manager to disable all non-system processesused Process Explorer to search for programs containing the #vid tag  I'm officially stumped, the webcam was confirmed to work originally- I can't say if there's a hardware failure, and regardless of the method I use the system claims that the webcam is being used by another program  Please Help, and thank you for your time.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 EasyCam

You can try this, uninstall Lenovo EasyCamera software and use standard driver.
Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall Lenovo EasyCamera driver.

If the issue persist then update the BIOS and reinstall Lenovo energy management software.

To find out why only 2.92 GB is usable run Resource Monitor under Task Manager or just the memory section of Task manager will do. Since you have 2 + 4 gb ram module, your memory might be operating in single channel only. To have dual channel operation you must have a pair of the same size and characteristics module installed.

Hey, i have i5 second generation Z570 with 32 bit configuration laptop and 2gb ram(1*2). Can I go for an ram upgrade. If yes max ram upgrade will be?

Answer:Ideapad Z570 RAM Upgrade

Hi Jay86 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Max RAM supported in a 32 bit OS:  In non-PAE modes of x86 processors, the RAM is always limited to 3.76GB , staying in 32 bit max ram usable is 4 GB .

"In computing, the 3 GB barrier is a limitation of some 32-bit operating systems running on x86 microprocessors. It prevents the operating systems from using more than about 3 GB (3 × 10243 bytes) of main memory (RAM). The exact barrier varies by motherboard and I/O device configuration, particularly the size of video RAM; it may be in the range of 2.75 GB to 3.5 GB.[2] The barrier is not present with a 64-bit processor and 64-bit operating system "

As per product specification :
8GB max7; PC3-10600 1333MHz DDR3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

If you changed from 32 bit to 64 bit architecture then you can push for an 8 GB max ram for your model as others claim that 16 GB would also be possible.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

If the mountain shaped area is the same as this picture then you may have a case of backlight bleeding  Try to lower down the screen's brightness and see if it helps. Other users in this thread found out that slightly tapping their finger around the backlight bleeding area helps.

If you still get the same problem, you may need to open up the lcd screen and apply some tape on the backlight bleeding area or replace the entire screen.

Have a nice day!I've got a little problem with shutting down or rebooting my laptop: IdeaPad Z570 - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - SP1.When I try to reboot/shut down the computer after the final blue windows "Shutting down..." pictures the computer doesn't do anything - the keyboard leds (power button etc.) are still lightning and the laptop starts loudly whizzing and workig hard (the display turns off). And I have to turn off the machine with the power button manually after this.Has anybody an idea what can cause the problem? Maybe one of the installed drivers? Or something else?(And sorry, if this isn't a real Lenovo problem, I've just tried to get help here first.)Thank you for your answers!

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - Can't reboot or shut down

When did this problem arise? Was it after installing anything? Try a system restore prior to the tome before problem arised.

After reading what i have on various forums, seems we're not the only people facing this issue. The laptop, Z570 (1024-6JG) was a christmas present to a child recently diagnosed with aspergers. This laptop is the only computer they have, and she has to attend a Virtual Classroom. She has now basically lost her work and cannot access her education. The laptop in question has suddenly stopped working. It was shut down normally, kept safe on a desk, lid was closed. Came to it the next morning and....nothing happens. There are no LEDs lighting up whatsoever, not even the charge LED, which worked before. It does not respond to the power button at all, with just battery, just mains charger or both! Basically, what i really need is for Lenovo to actually support a product for once. So what are the options? I have read that one option is to have one sent out so we can swap the hard drives around - that would be perfect. The other option is to be sent or, if it will resolve the issue quickly, purchase a motherboard from you. I can't seem to source one anywhere on the internet, seems i need to contact you (Lenovo) directly. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. I just didn't want to ring some number just to be told it was the wrong one or there's nothing that could be done. For a laptop that isn't even 6 months old yet, i find it scandalous that it can just suddenly die like this. What happened to the legendary reliability that is IBM Thinkpad? The most recent IB... Hello everyone.  My Ideapad Z570 refuses to show the bios screen after it turns on.  What happens is the power led and media bar will light, but no other activity happens.  It has been diagnosed that the bios chip needs to be re-flashed.  How do you perform an emergency bios recovery on the Z570?  The methods described for the Y560 do NOT work for me, although the laptop tries to access the USB drive when holding fn + R. Any and all help is appreciated, I am avoiding to contact Lenovo since the warranty is expired. (or any tips on negotiating with Lenovo support helps too)

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z570 Bios Recovery

If a BIOS recovery was possible you would need to have a bootable machine to do it.  From your description it sounds like your system is hanging during the boot process.  If that is the case then a defective piece of hardware will prevent the machine from sucessfully booting.  Try removing all hardware items from the laptop such as the hard drive, optical drive, wireless/lan card(s) and memory.  With the memory removed, the machine should at least beep an error code.  If the system shows any sign of life then start re-installing hardware one piece at a time.  Put the memory back in one module at a time and try booting.  If it still shows life then add another piece of hardware.  Keep doing this until the no boot scenario returns.  That should give you an indication of what hardware item is causing the problem.

I think my laptop's fan needs replacement. I was sitting quietly, using my laptop when suddenly it started making weird noise and vibrating horribly. I figured out that the cooling fan is making these horrible vibrations. The fan is working properly but is making my entire laptop vibrate. I need a replacement but there's no lenovo service centre in my city and it is not under warranty. I opened the back and tried cleaning it, but the vibrations won't quit. What should I do? Please can anyone suggest any solution?

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad z570 Cooling Fan problem

I assume that you have tried using some compressed air on the fan to blow out any accumulated dust and that did not work. I also assume that when you had the back off you visibly inspected the fan to insure that nothing was caught in the fan blades such as a small piece of paper.  If you have tried all that and the fan is still noisy and vibrates then I would replace the fan.  In the event a Lenovo Moderator doesn't stop in with information on obtaining a Lenovo replacement part, you could also just buy a replacement fan off eBay.  There are a number of sellers that will ship worldwide and page 65 of your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual will explain how to do it.  Below is a direct download of the Z570 manual.... http://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/UserGuide/en/User's%20guides%20and%20manuals/Z370&Z470&Z570/Len...

Hi everyone, I recently reformatted my Lenovo Ideapad Z570 and it seemed to work fine however, there was a major issue in that I couldn't get the wireless to work at home. When I was at home, when I pressed FN+F5, the list of wireless network adapters would appear but it would only be the bluetooth there and the wireless network card wouldn't even appear there. Sometimes when I was away from home, it would appear but I cannot control when it appears.  When it appears I can turn it on allowing me wireless capability and I can use it completely fine until I shut down the laptop. Then when I restart my laptop, the wireless network card doesn't appear in the FN+F5 menu anymore. I think Energy management was automatically turning off my wireless capacity, and so I went to Device Manager and unclicked the box which allowed this automatic turning off of the wireless capacity but I still wasn't able to find the Wireless Netword Card in the FN+F5 menu. Today I tried to fix it but ended up uninstalling LENOVO Energy Management program on my laptop and now its even worse. I have lost the function menus and I can't even see the menus anymore.  Before I reformatted my computer I never had these issues, nor did I even have to turn on and off the wireless capacity, it would just always be on.  I installed the Lenovo Solution Centre and when I run a hardware scan it would have Warning appear under every box for the Intel (R) Centrino(R) Wireless N... Hi,  have a bricked Lenovo Z570 machine that is not able to boot any Windows 7 retail disc or Ubuntu disc (to perform a recovery). My partition table is a mess right now (can not boot anything) and I can not reinstall either since every single disc I try (including Boot Repair) will not boot, crash or hang as with Windows 7 one that hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen. My machine came with a certain BIOS version (can not remember which), l was able to install a retail Windows 7 Pro and dual Ubuntu 12.04 boot (so far, so good) BUT then I had the TERRIBLE idea of updating my BIOS to 45CN38WW and now it seems it will not boot anything!!! I can not even change the boot order in my VERY limited Phoenix SecureCore Tiano BIOS. I have tried everything...Windows XP, Windows 7 (several versions), Ubuntu 11.x, Ubuntu 12.x and Ubuntu 14.x and all of them fail (Ubuntu even complains about a kernel error and reports something related to the BIOS so my guess is that it is the only thing that explains this behavior).I'm looking for an OLD version of the BIOS for this computer, I just need a download link since telephone support agent said to me that the only BIOS available is the one in the Downloads page for the Z570, I really can not believe that there is no other link to previous versions of software components. Thanks for the help

Answer:NEED LENOVO IDEAPAD Z570 OLD BIOS, URGENT

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

After a BIOS update it doesn't hurt to do a reset of the BIOS.  Just do this.........

1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

As for obtaining your earlier BIOS version that might not be possible unless someone has it available on the Internet.  Lenovo unfortunately does not have older BIOS versions available, only the latest release.

Answer:lenovo ideapad z570 my dvd drive is not working

Hi larikrohail,

Your DVD drive head is probably dirty. That can happen when the drive sits for a long time without being used. There are 2 solutions for this condition. I use both.

1. Buy a CD drive cleaner disk. The cleaner disk has a tiny "comb" on the underside, that will wipe the dust off the optical drive head.

2. Pull out the drive tray. Use a 70% solution of rubbing alcohol applied to a cuetip (or cotton swab), and gently clean the dust, and dirt that has built up on the laser drive head. Be careful not to damage the drive head assembly.

Hello dear Community! I've got a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 notebook, purchased 4 years ago.Not so long ago the HDD just went wrong again so now I'd like to put an SSD in it instead of a new HDD.Here's my first found: SSD Kingston 240 GB SSD, V300, 7mm (other specs: 2,5 inch, SATA3 interface). So, my question #1 is whether this SSD will be okay for my machine or not?If not could You just suggest me another ones that are compatible with it for sure (around the same capacity)? Another but not so important question #2: is it possible that changing the drive manually (no guarantee anymore) will cause the original (with-purchased) Win7 OS not working? Thank You very much for Your response in advance! Best regards,Zsolt László

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - compatible SSDs

hi Zsolt,

Welcome to the Forums.

I haven't seen anyone used the Kingston 240 GB SSD on the Z570 but it should work as it's a 2.5" drive (ensure that you can return the item though just in case the BIOS doesn't detect it).

Alternatively, you can opt to get another brand like the Samsung Evo as other users have tested it on this unit.

Video:
Samsung SSD on the Z570

As for the OS, Windows should automatically activate itself once you re-install Windows (e.g., From a backup, a recovery disc, or fresh install) but in case it doesn't activate, you will need to activate it by phone.

Integrated:Intel HD 3000 GraphicsDedicated:NVIDIA GT 540MDescription of issue:Integrated is acting as main even when dedicated should take over (e.g. gaming). This causes problems, unacceptable ones, during gameplay when an intergated GPU just won't cut it. Framerate (with Vertical Sync off) reaches 160~ FPS when idle in-game but when minimal effects appear on screen a huge drop in FPS is witnessed (down to 5-10 FPS). This renders the game (League Of Legends) unplayable despite the low demandings it has. Not an issue of the game, as other more demanding games have same problems. What I've tried:Sorted from common solution to less commonTried setting preffered GPU processor in NVIDIA control panel ---> Manage 3D settings ---> General settings. Option is greyed out and stack at "integrated graphics processor".Tried setting game-specific preferences in NVIDIA control panel. Didn't help at all. Monitoring GPU's activity with GPU-z showed a case of high GPU usage on Intel and almost iddle on NVIDIA.Tried running executable with a chosen processor by right clicking on it, option is greyed out, can't choose one of two processors.Changed both GPU's settings to performance instead of quality, checked max performance over long battery life. Still not a big change.Headed to BIOS to disable integrated GPU, found that only option is either UMA only / Optimus, Optimus was chosen, left as is.Checked for updates on drivers, didn't help.Tried disabling Intel GPU through Device Manag... Hi So after upgrading to Windows 10 yesterday, I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 as it was a bit laggy. Now after getting the Windows from the Microsoft website and booting from a USB drive, I did a clean install of Windows 10. But after the notification tray loads, the wifi icon has a small red X mark next to it and when I select it, there are no networks being shown. When I go to settings ( Network & Internet ), on the first WiFi tab, it shows Wi-Fi as off and no matter how many times I press it doesn't stay on. I have no idea what is wrong with my laptop or why the setting is stuck on off. The master switch is set at ON. As a complete novice when it comes to these matters, I begging the community here for help as otherwise I won't be able to use my laptop without internet connection. Please help.

Try using another computer to download the drivers for your wireless card onto a flash drive. Once the drivers are downloaded, put the flash drive into your laptop and install the drivers from there. Hopefully this will solve the issue. If you have an Intel WLAN card, you can go to the Intel Download Center and find your product. Alternatively, you can go to the Lenovo product page and find drivers there. Let me know if you need links .

I have an older Ideapad z570, it made a popping sound and it won't power up now either.  I ordered a replacement adapter from lenovo thinking that was the issue as the light on the adapter was not coming on when it was plugged in.

After reading some of these boards, it appears I might have an issue with the mother board.  I would like to see abou getting it replaced, but there are no repair centers close to me, and I cannot find any information on Lenovo's webiste as to who I can contact or where I can send it.
And information to this end would  be greatly appreciated.  Sorry to tack on to this thread, but seemed silly to create another one for the same issue.

Answer:Lenovo ideapad z570 keyboard some keys are not working.

hi Lalit,

Welcome to the Forums.

It's odd that some of the keyboard keys are still not working even after a keyboard replacement (btw, is this replacement keyboard brand new?).

If connecting a USB keyboard works fine then there's most likely a problem with the replacement keyboard or the keyboard connector from the motherboard. In this case, I would first get the replacement keyboard RMA'ed to rule out a bad replacement keyboard. If this doesn't fix it, consider bringing the unit to a local computer repair center for checkup.

Dear Members,I am in trouble with my  Idea Pad Z570: I bought it couple of years ago running Windows 7. During the years of usage I had no trouble at all. With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGooner

Hi all, I have a Lenovo Z570 with a i7-26700QM @2.2 GHZ, 8GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GT540M. I've started playing some games such as Dayz running on lowish settings. Obviously, these are big RAM users, so I;ve been looking into the possibility of upgrading the RAM to 16GB which according to these forums has been done despite the fact maximum ram is meant to be 8GB.  I was wondering if it's worth me upgrading the RAM or if it might be better for me to upgrade the processor/graphics. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Also, if RAM is the preferential choice, could anyone point me in the direction of which ones to buy? The last few threads have been slightly out dated.  Thanks.

Hello there!Would somebody be so kind as to tell me how I am able to turn off UEFI mode in BIOS of my Lenovo IdeaPad Z570?(I can see very few things and options in the BIOS menu at the moment.)It's necessary, since I'd like to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium to my computer and during the installation process there is an error message - while choosing the partition where to install the system: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."And I've read somewhere that turning UEFI mode off would solve the problem.By the way, I'd appreciate any other ideas or suggestions to solve this problem.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - MBR/GPT disk problem (or BIOS/UEFU)

There are two solutions for your problem.WARNING! Both the ways that I suggest will ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA ON YOUR HD! If you have anything you want to save, copy it before doing it.First, easy, is to erase all partitions from your disk via windows installation utility. Then, windows will offer you to convert disk to GPT.Or, if windows doesn't do it in this 'automatic' way, you can convert disk to GPT using diskpart. For this, use this manual to access console http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/682-command-prompt-startup.htmlThen, type following commandsdiskpartWait until it loads, and thenLIST DISK <-- this will list currently connected disks, you should determine which of the disks is the one on which you want to install windows and remember its number.SELECT DISK <0> <--you should replace <0> with the number you had on previous stage, in most cases, it would be 0CLEANCONVERT GPTCREATE PARTITION EFI SIZE=200 OFFSET=1024SELECT PARTITION 1FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICKCREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=<size_for_win_partition_in_megabytes> OFFSET=206848SELECT PARTITION 2FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK That should be all) After this, you should be able to install windows on your hard drive.

Hello everybody,I have a very weird problem with my synaptic touchpad. I've clean install of windows 8 and the newest synaptic drivers because I thought it was a problem from the Windows ( before that i was with windows 7 and it has the same behavior).So... the problem is that both touchpad buttons work like Right button. When I click on the left button it has the same behavior as the right button - the context menu appears and simultaniously it catch the left click. I just want normal click behavior. It is not from the settings of the synaptic driver. There everything seems to be all right  - the left button has the normal click and normal drag setting, and the right click has the context menu and special drag setting but they work absolutely equal. It is very disturbing to work with the touchpad in this way.  Have got any suggestions?Thank you in advance and happy new years eve,Plamen

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 synaptic touch pad buttons problem

hi plamen_yovchev,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

What you can try is to:
1. Boot into Safe Mode (press F8 upon boot-up) and observe, if it works, try to perform a clean boot to isolate if there's a software that's causing the unit to right click..
2. If the problem persist, there's a possible short on the Touchpad. What you can try is:to re-seat the Touchpad and re-arrange the Touchpad cable (see page 1090 on how to remove the Keyboarad Bezel - this will detach the Touchpad board) or check this video as it will show how to detach the whole thing.

If re-seating the touchpad board & touchpad cable doesn't work and If you left click then suddenly the right click context menu pop's up, this could mean a short on the touchpad sensor or the left clicker is touching a part on the motherboard that's causing the issue. Sometimes this happens if the touchpad gets worn out overtime from continuous use and you will need to contact Lenovo for service to get it fixed. Support phone list here.

Hope this helps..

My Windows 7 basically blew up and is no longer working. I tried a one-key recovery as well which utterly failed. As a last resort I tried using Windows 7 recovery disks sent by Lenovo. There are 4 disks 1,2,3, and an additional disk. Everything seemed to be going somewhat smoothly, although slow up until disk 3. The screen shows

"Current Item: ApplyOs" "Recover process is running please don't remove your power adapter."

It's been like this for days. The blue bar load bar under it seems to still be running. Tried again, this time with 4 different disks sent by Lenovo. The first 3 disks went a bit faster, but the end result was still the same, getting stuck on "ApplyOs". Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Answer:want to change compability to AHCI mode in lenovo z570 ideapad

Hi Sushant,

Compatible setting is compatible to IDE host controller mode and a must if you want to e.g. install
Windows XP on your machine,
some time ago I temporary installed Win XP on my IdeaPad Y560p and changed it to compatible,
then going back to Win 7 I forgot to change it back to AHCI mode.

I find absolutely no difference in performance and out of laziness left it set in compatible mode.
If your Z570 works fine, just use it as is, but if there is a performance issue with your machine,
it's a different cause and has nothing to do with AHCI / Compatible settings...
http://www.diffen.com/difference/AHCI_vs_IDE

Regarding Win 8, there are still many problems with upgrading to this brand-new Windows version.
I suggest you to just enjoy your Z570 as is.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Happy computing... Zehn

Hi all, Having multiple problems with my z570, initally started booting up very slowly and running system repair automatically, and could eventually load onto desktop. Then system repair to load to no desktop giving an error code 6.1.7600.16385, corrupt driver etc. Sometimes same error code with NoOS Now seems to boot up only to launch chkdsk automatically which then reboots and starts again. Naively I did not make recovery disks, nor a restore point however I have purchased recovery disks from lenovo which should arrive next week. The plot thickens some what as the Window 7 product key has been worn and is not legible anymore. Will I need the key during the use of recovery disks? If not if there anyway of retrieving it off the machine baring in mind currently I cannot reach desktop? If this is not the case, does anyone know who to contact be it Microsoft, Lenovo or where I originally purhased the machine?  I thank you all in advance!

Answer:Ideapad Z570 - Failing to boot - Lenovo recover disk query.

Hi hazza257 and welcome to the community,

The recovery discs are pre-activated, so you won't have to enter any keys.

You might want to run a linux live from a usb flash drive or cd and run some diagnostics on the hard drive. You might have a problem with the hard drive.

I am using my Z570 with an external monitor. Native resolution only allows 1388 x 800 (?).  How can I increase resolution to 1920? I have the Intel HD3000 video chipset.   I have heard of using alternative video drivers to achieve this. Is that a possibility

Answer:Idea Pad Z570 / 1024 - Increasing screen resolution

hi rwkubik,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First Check if your Monitor supports that resolution.

You can get an update driver from Intel here

Can you try to right-click on your desktop screen and see if you have a Graphics option then choose Advance mode you should have an option there for Custom Resolution.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

I have bought this laptop - Lenovo Z570 - few months ago (in April) only to find that apart from 2 dead pixels, the Copper Metallic covering and the screws at the back side of the laptop has started coming off, here are few pics of the what is happening. Link to picture Link to picture Link to picture Its really looking ugly, and now I always try to avoid touching this particular region as whenever I touch it, more of this copper metallic polish withers off. It's still in the warranty period and when I had a little chat with one of customer care representative (online) - Sameer Bhan - I was told that this is covered under warranty and I can call at the toll free number to register my request, and so I did. After two days someone from lenovo came at my place told me that its a genuine problem and its not a physical damage, and in order to make sure he can help me out, he took these pics and told that he'll forward these pics to lenovo center to ensure that it is really covered under warrenty. And today I got a call from one of the local lenovo service center that this problem isn't covered under warranty.  So are these people only interested in playing with their customers!!Can anyone on this forum please tell me that is it really covered under warranty or not? What should I do now? Answer:Does Lenovo IdeaPad 700 15.6" black model have JBL...

Hi wicharit  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on shop.lenovo.com ( noticed the photo seems not showing the JBL logo)

Better way ( view models tab ) getting a machine number to verify parts listed on that model (ex. 80RU00APUS )

Based on parts lookup page:  JBL speakers available , upper case JBL cover mark
Part number : 5SB0K85910 Speaker W 80RU R+L NJBL SPEAKERS INTERNAL
Part number : 5CB0L03571 UpperCaseW80RU BK BLNJBL W/KB USA COVERS

Pulled up a different page for a black and red topcover and it showed red JBL logo just above the keyboard (price a little different from the first)

It may be a top cover design that may show of a different part number but basically checking on the parts lookup page using the machine number is technically preferred for verification.

Hope this helps.

I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro (from Windows 7) on the Z570 last December. That?s when I lost bluetooth functionality. After installing Windows 8 Pro, no bluetooth devices were even listed in Device Manager! I?ve been ?googling? for a solution to my problem over the past 9 months. It wasn?t until today when I discovered how to restore the bluetooth device in my Device Manager ? at least temporarily. I removed the battery from the Z570 and unplugged the AC adapter ? and pressed the Z570?s ?Power ON? button for 30 seconds. Then I reinstalled the battery, plugged in the AC adapter and powered up the Z570 ? but I first accessed the BIOS and restored the default settings. I saved the default settings and booted up. The Broadcom Bluetooth 2.1 Device did briefly appear (~1 to 2 minutes) with a yellow triangle under the ?Bluetooth? parent in the Device Manager. But the Device Manager?s window refreshed (the tree collapsed) and the ?Bluetooth? parent disappeared. At the same time, an ?Other devices? parent appeared with an ?Unknown device? overlaid with a yellow exclamation point.

I also used AIDA64 Extreme Edition to confirm the unknown device?s properties. The driver description is listed ?Unknown? ? the Hardware ID is ?USB\VID_0489&PID_E00D&REV_0472? ? and the Location Information is ?Port_#0004.Hub_#0003?.

Hello,I am interested to buy the Lenevo ideapad Y500 15 amd model (ideapad Y700-15ACZ)http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/y700-series/y700-15-amd/ I went this morning on notebookcheck.net:http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-IdeaPad-Y700-15ACZ-Notebook-Review.158768.0.html I have got some concern about comment's been made during that test:- Lenovo presents a gaming notebook with which you cannot play computer games well in its current state. Thus, we advise against buying it. The manufacturer definitely needs to revise it and check the clock rate problem mentioned in the test.If you like the case design, you would be better off buying one of the (more expensive) Intel/Nvidia variants of the Y700 series - we are sorry about that for AMD. - Note: We decrease the total rating by 6% because of extensive stuttering during 3D - When we run Cinebench R15 in a loop, the clock rate remains at 3.4 GHz most of the time, but the big problem of the Lenovo IdeaPad Y700-15ACZ already shows here: Again and again, the clock rates fall to 1.4 GHz for a short time in mostly all four cores. We suspect that this is why it is cumbersome to play almost all games - Now, we have to face the truth: Even if the extensive benchmarks list leaves a different impression, you can hardly play any 3D game without frustration. The reason is slowdowns appearing in short intervals.  - Only masochists will stand that for longer than 3 minutes. (T... Read more

I have the above listed ultrabook.  When i look under disk management i see two physical disk's listed.  One is the Plater drive 500gb, the second is a 8gb Drive.  I am curious if this is the mSATA ssd or is it soldered on the main board.  I am wanting to install an 80GB mSATA for OS and use HDD for files.  Is this possible?

HI All, Good day to one and all!! I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 100 15IBY Model 80MJ recently checking that in the specs wireless display exists. When I am trying to connect my Ideapad 100 to a Smart TV (With Intel Wireless Display feature), it is detecting and showing as connecting but at last moment a blank screen appears and wireless display does not work. Installed all the latest wireless and VGA drivers compatible with Windows 10 on to my Ideapad but still the same issue occurs. Need inputs for resolving this issue. ThanksGupta

heya i dont know if anyone has had this problem or whether anyone is able to help but i have a lenovo ideapad z580 model type 2151 core i5 3210m laptop that powers on, fan spins, led lights come on and screen lights up but nothing is displayed, no lenovo logo, no access to bios, nothing. if i use the nova key the blue menu pops up in the middle of the screen but if any of the options are selected the menu disappears and screen stays blank.

i have tried connecting to an external monitor and get nothing, i have reseated ram, swapped ram slots, reseated hard drive. tried it without a hard drive, taken out the cmos battery, taken out the battery and held down the power button for 60 seconds, tried it on just the ac adaptor, unplugged all peripherals i.e dvd drive, wifi card ect.

if i press ctrl alt delete computer restarts but still the blank screen, ive seen many posts and forums that describe a display that black as in doesnt turn on but mine is on, i can see the light switch on when i press the power button.

any help anyone could give me would be grately appreciated.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK, Model 80UD0017US, and would like to purchase a 2nd power adapter as a backup. I saw in the hardware manual that there are several part numbers listed, and the specific ones on my adapter are:45w AC Adapter Model Name: PA-1450-55LLLC P/N: 5A10H42923 In looking for the part online, I saw several on eBay and Amazon with the PA-1450-55LL reference, but at least one seller mentioned that the size of the connectors aren't always the same. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

Hi all, on June 2017 (around 3 months and half ago) I bought a Lenovo Yoga 510-14AST Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80S9 - Model 80S9000MIX.I immediately saw a huge slowness but I didn't have a good chance to deep dive the issue. In the last couple of weeks I investigated and found that when launching any of the installed applications (even just the browsers MS Edge or Chrome) the CPU and Hard Disk reach immediately 100% of occupation from Task Manager.I asked to the Lenovo Support guys and they suggested me to try One Key Recovery.I did it and unfortunately it didn't solve. Now the Laptop is reset with factory defaults but even just launching "Lenovo Companion" app cause cpu and hd to move quickly to 100%.The laptop is completely unusable and I'm quite disappointed because the performances are so poor like a Netbook with Intel Atom cpu.I contacted again Lenovo and they told me to send it for technical assistance.I will do it but I would ask if someone that has bought the same model experienced the same.My idea is to ask a replacement with another Lenovo model more performant (paying the difference if needed).Do you think it would a reasonable request? Thanks a lot for al your collaborationBest regardsFabio
