Integrated camera on Z580 windows 8

Question: Integrated camera on Z580 windows 8

When I first received my laptop the integrated camera was working. What happened? I cannot use the camera app on windows 8 any longer. When I go to the properties for the Lenovo Easy camera in device manager I get this message: This device cannot start. (Code 10)The I/O device is configured incorrectly or the configuration parameters to the driver are incorrect. HELP!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had the x201 tablet for over a year and have never been able to figure out how to use the integrated camera. Running Windows 7, 32-bit. Have looked at the other posts related to this problem but none helped.  Have installed Picasa, Skype, etc but nothing turns on the camera. I just want to take quick photos to upload to Evernote and to save time over faxing short documents.  And I want to be able to webchat on occasion. Am NOT technically savvy so maybe I'm just doing something stupid? Any help is most appreciated.

Answer:Integrated Camera - Stumped... How to use integrated camera on x201 tablet?

Hi, cavanaughmm

Does anything occur when you try to use the camera? If you haven't, make sure you have the latest driver, which can be found here. I'd also make sure that all the rest of your drivers and your BIOS have been updated, which can be found here. I would also enter the BIOS and make sure the Integrated Camera is enabled. To do this, turn the computer on and tap Enter a few times at the POST screen to interrupt normal startup. A menu should appear, at which you should press F1 to enter the BIOS. From here, navigate to Security ? I/O Port Access. Make sure the status of the integrated camera is Enabled.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hi After receiving my w530, I wiped the drive and installed a nice fresh copy of Windows 8 Enterprise (volume licence work copy). I have installed all the latest drivers, etc. and taken note of the various documents about Windows 8 upgrade/install, but cannot make use of the integrated camera?! The driver is listed under the device manager: Imagine Devices -> Integrated Camera (Ricoh 1.0.0.19) - BTW I tried the beta one to see if that helped, and it made no difference to I rolled back to the proper release again. The docs I have read said NOT to install the Communications Utility, and at this point in time there is not a Windows 8 listed compatible version of that.  I did give it a try when the camera did not work, but although there were no errors, etc. it didn't help either :-( Skype/messenger/windows 8 camera seem to know it's there, but cannot make use of it (I get the placeholder image). Under Control Panel->Hardware and Sound, there is no appropriate entry for me to toggle/configure. I see the green light come on, but no picture.  Running latest bios G5ET65WW (2.07). Any help/advice on moving this forward would be greatly appreciated :-) RegardsPaul. (Did notice another similar post, but given that was focused on Windows 7 and more hardware related, created new post...)

hi everyone after i finished installing my win vista ultimate, i started installing drivers and have no issue but for the integrated cam on my sl 500, the driver downloaded from the lenovo site doesnt work and says the INF doesnt have the required info. what can i do? also i would like to know whatīs the software name it comes for the camera. thanks in advance

Answer:Integrated Camera and windows Ultimate

hi Sigma, i use vista home premium sp1 and i installed the drivers via Thinkvantage System Update. well, there were no issues and the integrated camera works fine on windows messenger.  the camera is a "D-MAX Camera" with 2 megapixels. the software offered on the sl500 support page is just the driver, there is no extra tool with which you can use the camera, e.g. making videos or shooting photos.  try downloading the  "Thinkvantage System Update" and go to update system and let me know if this is working.

I have an Edge 15 that I have recently upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 8 Pro.  Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT the integrated camera.  Each time I try and use it with Skype it causes the computer to blue screen crash with a KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE.  Checking arround there seems to be loads of complaints on this subject but no new Win 8 driver update from Lenovo.  Any information would be appreciated....

Answer:Windows 8 Integrated Camera causes crash

Hi, studew

I have a possible workaround for you until Lenovo can release the integrated camera driver for your system and Windows 8.

If you bring up the Charm Bar from the desktop or the main metro screen and select Search, then type in "Troubleshooting" and change the filter to Settings, a setting called Troubleshooting should appear. Select this. A list of programs should pop up. Scroll down and select Skype. From here, you should be able to set Skype to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Since you are running a Windows 7 driver for your computer, as it was the latest release, then running Skype in compatibility mode with Windows 7 may help you use your camera in this function.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes,
Adam

Answer:E420 - Integrated Camera not working in windows 8

Hi, sandter

Firstly, I would recommend making sure all your drivers and BIOS are up to date to match your new operating system. All of those for your system can be found here. Following that, if the camera is still not working, then I would download the Lenovo Settings Metro app, found here. In this app, you will find camera settings. Go into these settings and make sure the camera is not in Private Mode.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hi guys, I have windows 8.1 installed on my W530 (not my doing - factory ready). I tried using the integrated camera and was greeted by that grey camera icon with the crossed line, which to my understanding, is some sort of privacy mode, which I should change via lenovo settings. When I tried accessing this settings, I couldnt get to the camera. After I press the camera section in the settings, I get to the description of what I can do but nothing is shown and the program get stuck (time does not fix it). I made sure the dependency package is installed and wandered around trying to find an answer. Still no luck. Any ideas? Thanks

Dear Ladies and Gents,I've decided to buy my x220 company notebook, and make some upgrades on it. I installed the latest BIOS version. I bought a Transcend MSA370 mSATA SSD module, and replaced the integrated WWAN card with it. The concept was , that I keep the original 320GB hard drive for storage and install a Windows 10 Pro OS on the SSD card. So far so good, everything went fine, I had some issues setting up the hotkeys, but managed to do so. But then, I realized, that I can't make the integrated camera work. I pressed FN+F6, but no camera options showed, only audio and microphone settings. I checked the BIOS settings, the camera is enabled. I even tried to install the camera drivers for Windows 7 (no later version on support site), but it had no effect. Then I checked the Device Manager and saw that the camera does not even show up there (no "Imaging Devices" block, no wonder the driver install didn't do anything). I started googling and found some people who said they managed to solve this problem, but the solution had to do something with installing the OS on the original hard drive, and do some more magic, but to tell You the truth it wasn't so convincing, seemed like solution by lucky guesses. Does anyone have any idea about the source of the problem, and how to get the cam working? Or at least "seen" by the OS?thanks in advance,gábor

Hi, prakashp

Could you possibly take a screenshot of the slash that you get so we can better understand the issue? You can use Snipping Tool to easily do this. Open up Snipping Tool and have your camera software running. You can then drag the box from Snipping Tool over the slash and take a picture with it. You can then add that picture to your post.

Thanks in advance,

I recently upgraded to windows 8 and when I click the camera button on the start wall, it boots up my camera, the light turns on to show that the camera is in use, but then the image freezes. If I switch apps to my desktop, or to the start wall, then back again, it refreshes the image, but again, it freezes. When I use Skype, I can see my image moving in the corner of the screen as if its working fine, but the person I am speaking with sees what I see when I use the camera app; the image begins to load up, then freezes. I believe I am using the Vista drivers for the integrated camera, or if not, I am using the drivers Windows 8 provided when I performed the install. Any recommendations on how to rectify this?

Answer:SL300 Windows 8 Upgrade - Integrated Camera Issues

Hi, milan_82

My first recommendations would be to ensure that you have the latest drivers for your camera and operating system and to make sure your BIOS is up to date. Unfortunately, these drivers are not currently available to the Lenovo website. There is, however, a utility that Lenovo has released to help users find drivers for their machines faster. This utility is called ThinkVantage Update Retriever and can be found here. If you install this utility, you should be able to find the latest drivers for all parts of your system.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hello,I have got new X250 20CM003GRT. All was OK with W7, W8.1 until I have upgraded it to Windows 10 x64 Pro. Hi all, I had windows 7 pre-installed and to be honest I was really amazed when I saw the camera quality. Now that I have installed windows 8 however, the quality has turned to **bleep**. Why is this? Any way to fix this?

Answer:W530 running windows 8 - Extremely low quality integrated camera

Nevermind. At first I couldn't get the camera to work. So I reverted back to the windows 7 communications utility running on my windows 8. I just downloaded the lenovo settings dependency package and my camera is now working on the metro app and on skype etc, and the quality is much better than using the communications utility. I don't get the special face tracking etc settings though, but it's the best I can do for now it seems... Anyone else have any better ideas? If this is what yours is like can you chime in and tell me so? Basically, am I doing it right?

Hi, I have a clean Windows 10 installation on a brand new T440p.  Everything seems to work fine, except that the camera does not show up in the device manager.  There is not even an Imaging Devices category in the device manager. I have ensured that the camera is turned on in BIOS.  I have downloaded the latest drivers from the Lenovo site.  When running the main setup program, I get an error stating "No Target Module". If I try the Sunplus installer separately, it runs through the progress indicator installing files until about 80% when it says "Can not find the device, Abort install!", and fails. If I try to run the Realtek installer separately, it completes, and asks to restart.  After the PC reboots, there's still nothing in the device manager. Any ideas on what to try? TIA, Andy Kazmaier

Hi there, I'm well aware that there are a few of these problems listed for last year but I've tried a lot of what is given as solutions to the problem and I have not yet discovered why mine isn't working.- My camera used to work fineI was using it all the time, every day last year to speak to someone via skype etc. Now that i'm with them I hadn't had any use for it.-It no longer is even recognised by the machine.Lenovo Settings doesn't list a camera options menu, the device manager doesn't even have 'Imaging Devices' listed whatsoever. Here is proof: http://imgur.com/NY0VS0T-What did I do?I possibly deleted something while I was doing a PC clean up of stuff I didn't use (my laptop was starting to run sluggish and some spring cleaning really boosted the speed). This might be my fault but i'm hoping I can un-break it. So my question is this...-What Drivers, Programs & Facilities do I need to download again to make the camera work?I thank everyone so much in advance for their help

Hi! I've bought a new N500 (Typ 4233 - 37G) Notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium and downloaded and installed the camera driver from the lenovo homepage, but the camera still doesn't work. When I start e.g.. the Bison Cap software, I get  the message "Please turn on camera by pressing Fn + F10 or clicking camera On icon in popup menu". But Fn + F10 controls the display lighting and there is no popu menu for the camera. In the manual I found a note, that Windows Vista requires a separate program for the camera. Can anybody advise me how to test and activate the camera?

Answer:Lenovo 3000 N 500, Windows Vista, integrated camera doesn't work

Hi, ThinkPad T500 (2241-cg8) - integrated camera is recognized in windows xp but doesn't show anything. I used the following command and un-installed all the old and hidden drivers.set DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS=1set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1start devmgmt.msc I tried the old driver (1.27.500.0) and well as the new driver (1.35). It is still not working. If I open an IM application to share a webcam or just use the built-in MovieMaker or other application in XP, I just see a black image and the green led close to camera doesn't light up. I opened a ticket with Lenovo a week ago I haven't heard anything from them. I would appreciate any help.

Hi All, I have just upgraded my Z580 from 8.0 to 8.1 (x64) and everything is working except the camera (webcam). It was working fine in Windows 8.  If I look in the device manager I see "Access is denied" error message on the driver. every time I install the EasyCamera software (chincony - 64 bit windows 8.1) it fails with an unspecified error "setup failed".  It then tells me to plug in the camera, it then says "are you sure uninstall the camera driver" - I say yes and the uninstaller fails with an "uninstall driver fail" message.  I have also tried saying no to hte uninstaller option but to no avail.  Here is what I have tried: The following drivers0mca09w81.exethe Z380Z480Z580.....exe drivers from the chinese sitethe original Windows 8.0 drivers in d:\driversthe 32bit version of the driver With each driver above I have tried: Removed device from device manager, uninstalled webcam software, rebooted, reran the driver installer - FAILAs Above and run the installer as "administrator" - FAILAs Above but set the installer to compatability mode (Windows 7) - FAIL I know for sure that the camera is fine,  the wires are sound etc.  One minute it was working - upgrade to 8.1 and it stopped........... This is a driver installer issue but I am not sure how to proceed.  I have considered tracing the installer to see the registry keys it tries and changing the permissions on these I have also considered changing... Question: Integrated Camera

Dear All, I have purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 15". Recently, I have experienced problems using my integrated camera with Skype (i.e. the integrated camera is detected but does not display anthing and the green light does not come on). The integrated camera passes the "capture to screen" and "capture to file" tests from Lenovo ThinkVantage's Health and Diagnostics. Therefore, I presume the problem pertains to the camera's driver but have had no success after uninstalling and re-installing a variety of drivers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Question: Integrated camera?

Hey all, I have a Thinkpad W510 4318-CTO running Windows 7 64 bit. I ordered the computer with an integrated camera, and I can't get it to work, at all. It won't show up in the list of devices, I can't find drivers for it on the site, and I've spent hours figuring out what to do without finding a solution. If I open up Communications Settings, a camera image will pop up next to "Camera Settings", so I know SOMETHING is there. I just can't actually take any pictures or video. What could be happening here?

Have you loaded any software that will use the webcam?  I also have a W510 with integrated camera.  I can get to camera settings and see a sample image by pressing Fn+F6.  As far as I know there is no pre-loaded software for the camera.  I am able to use it as a webcam with Yahoo IM.  I have heard that yawcam is a decent free software for capturing video or photos from the camera.  I believe it's www.yawcam.com.  Hope this helps.

I have an integrated camera, and I tried following the instructions lenovo suggests (opening the scanner/camera folder in the control panel) but no camera comes up! Also, I can't make movies either. I have windows vista so everything is different from the instructions lenovo gave me. Help!

Answer:how to use integrated camera? T61

To first test the camera, you can use something like Windows Live Messenger.  If you enter the tools menu, you can use the "adjust webcam settings" option to test the camera.  The green light next to the lens comes on to tell you its active and it shows you the picture being captured. After that, you just open the app you want to use and its the application's responsibility to use the camera feed.  Windows doesn't provide movie capture software by default if I recall correctly.

Question: Integrated camera

Hello, I recently bought a Lenovo Y500. When I opened up the webcam, the picture has vertical coloured lines. But the thing that makes me think its not a hardware issue is, that when I apply effects like black and white and those kinds of effects, the coloured lines also switch colours. It made me think of a broken screen, if a screen is broken and there is some random colours at the broken place, these colours wont change, but they change in my camera, I tried to reinstall the driver many times, and used differendt camera softwares but nothing works.

This would be my first time posting here so I will try to be exact in my problem which is driving me nuts. I have recently done a re-install of windows 7 home premium with sp1 on my idea pad z580 (this was necessary as windows update was not functioning). after all was said and done all my programs and files and setting were saved except my integrated webcam was not working. Yes i made sure the softkeys had it turned on. This shouldn't have been a problem I went to lenovo and downloaded the recomended driver. The wizard ran with no problem. Windows then went to install the driver and it failed. If I go to device manager and have windows search for a newer version of driver it tells me I have the most current one...Yet it continuously fails to install it.  Help!!! I'm out of ideas. This should be a pretty routine thing to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Lenovo Community, I had bought an E545 a while ago with Windows 8 as standard. The laptop integrated camera was working just fine. After a while Windows 7 was installed so Windows 8 naturally got wiped. Now the laptop integrated camera isn't working. I've downloaded the 2 drivers that are listed under the driver section for my machine. The laptop camera isn't working. I think Windows is not recognizing the built in camera. What do I do?  ThanksSid

Answer:Can't use the integrated laptop camera

There is a possibility that the drivers are not installed properly. You can try below steps to resolve the issue:1. Re-install the Integrated Camera Driver and reboot the system if necessary.Download the Integrated Camera driver (1.0M Integrated Camera Driver exe) from below link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-edge-e5...2. When finished, navigate to the Device Manager and go to Imaging Devices, it will show if the camera device is successfully installed on the system.3. If the camera is successfully detected, check if camera is working.

So, my webcam on my W530 is not working. When I open the Communications Utility/Mirror, all I see is an image of a camera with a slash through it on a gray background. The green LED on the camera does still come on. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera drivers, as well as the Communications Utilty. I also tried rebooting in diagnostic mode, still no luck. As far as I can tell, all the cables from the LCD are properly seated on the motherboard. I am not even sure whether this is a hardware issue, or a software issue. I have dropped it several times. (As an aside, the plastic grate on the back vent is broken, does the Thinkpad Plus warranty cover stuff like that? It leaves a metal grate exposed that could get hot. ). The only other thing I have found says to check the cable seating under the LCD bezel, which sounds like major surgery. Any advice, thoughts, things to try, software to uninstall, etc?

As for your second question, if damage has been done to your machine by dropping it, then it will only be covered if you have Accidental Damage Protection. You can look up your warranty status here and see what exactly is included in your warranty.

Hope it helps,
Adam

Hi. I recently bought a used X200, model 7454CTO and it didn't come with the integrated camera and digital microphone.I was a bit surprised because I previously hadn't seen a model without this option included. Is it possible to buy the camera part and install it?  or have Lenovo upgrade this for me? I know it'd be easier to use an external USB camera but it would be so much cleaner to have it built-in.  Thanks for your help.

Answer:X200 - Possible to add the Integrated Camera?

Hi Clix200,  it will be very difficult for an unexperienced user to change the display frame. I would suggest to buy a X200 with integrated cam and not to change the frame yourself, cause if the preparation fails you have to pay for repair. Itīs a lot of work and very hard to change.

I have had issues with my w500 from the start, and it's only about 4 months old.  We've reinstalled the system 3 or 4 times because of driver issues, etc. I finally have a fresh install of XP SP2, and used ThinkAdvantage Update to get the drivers I need.  The last apparent issue is the integrated camera.  I've tried using the update program and it shows it, but the download always fails, and so I downloaded it from the Lenovo site for my computer. It installs but when I reboot, the green light indicator comes on and stays on until I either reinstall the software again, or in my current case- uninstall it. It also didn't install the camera utiliy program that was origianlly on the ThinkPad build that shipped with the laptop. Any ideas?  I actually used the camera while traveling to video-chat with my wife and daughter. Thanks.

I just got my W500 ThinkPAd. The OS is Windows 7.  When I click on the Integrated Camera (44C1917   VBB) button in the start menu, all that shows up is "Uninstall Integrated Camera."  I have not been able to find info on how to fix this.  All online solutions only mention Vistas or earlier.

Answer:Integrated Camera Not Working

Try downloading and installing this:http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70600.html This is the camera driver. Next check Device Manager to see that the camera is showing up as working. Then try using Skype or other software that makes use of the camera. You could also use System Update to get any other drivers that may be out of date or missing.

Answer:B50-70 - integrated camera not working

Hi amir22 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Was the camera working before? Do you noticed any yellow marks on device manager? Have you tried system restore to a previous working date?

For the camera driver download it here. You can also visit this site for testing.

If those above would not work , last option is factory restore (One Key Recovery using your Novo button )
Note: Factory reset will delete all data and you need to reinstall all apps,  however if even factory reset fails to restore the camera , most likely it would need a hardware repair
Check your covered warranty and call in tech support .

Have us updated on how it goes.

Regards

How do you test the integrated camera?  It used to work but now when I use Skype, I just get a symbol of a camera with a hash mark and I do not get an image.

Lenovo T430 Integrated Camera isn't working, so I went to control panel- Device Manager - Imaging devices - integrated camera(with a yellow triangle warning sign)  device status box says:"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)". NO CLUE how to fix this, I tried updating the device but it says device up to date, I also tried re-installed it for several times but it still doesn't work. Please help!  Thank You!

Even the Lenovo EasyCapture application gives me the same message. When i press Fn + Esc it shows its on/off status.  Do you think i need to re-install the drivers ? ~Ravi

Hello: Is it just me, or was the built in camera a waste of valuable space on my screen.  The tint is yellow and there are no controls to change this.  It's yellow whether I am in good light or not.

Answer:T400 Integrated Camera

Maybe I shouldn't have been so sarcastic.  I have purchased a new T400 Lenova Laptop.  I like it a lot, however, the integrated camera picture is yellow.  I have tried it from several different lighting situations including outside bright light and it still show a yellow picture. Is there something wrong, or is this the way the camera is supposed to look?

Hello,I bought a Thinkpad E430 in June and have used it without trouble until October. My problem is the integrated camera. It worked fine when I bought the computer, but it stopped working. I was able to get it going again by reinstalling the driver, but it's stopped again and the driver isn't even being recognized when I install it and restart my computer. Most of my troubles are similar to this person's only I know that my computer was shipped with a camera: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Help-with-an-E530-integrated-camera-that-can-t-be... When I open up web conferencing, it only gives me audio options and when I try to set it up with the device manager it only has the lexmark and xerox options.I tried to just f11 on startup and redo everything, but it gave me an error in doing that.

Answer:Help with E430 Integrated camera

Hi ladtoyourleft,

Can you pinpoint when/how the malfunction happened?
Did it happen suddenly or did it progessively get worse over time?

I ask to see if there is a point that we might be able to roll back to.

Were there any changes made before the camera stopped working?
