Video camera to fit Z580 Windows 7

Question: Video camera to fit Z580 Windows 7

Hello to all,Can someone recommend a video camera that works well with the Z580? The main purpose is for downloading video from the camera, to a good quality, and then editing with Adobe. Do I need a capture device? If so please recommend one. Thanks a lot.

Preferred Solution: Video camera to fit Z580 Windows 7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All, I have just upgraded my Z580 from 8.0 to 8.1 (x64) and everything is working except the camera (webcam). It was working fine in Windows 8.  If I look in the device manager I see "Access is denied" error message on the driver. every time I install the EasyCamera software (chincony - 64 bit windows 8.1) it fails with an unspecified error "setup failed".  It then tells me to plug in the camera, it then says "are you sure uninstall the camera driver" - I say yes and the uninstaller fails with an "uninstall driver fail" message.  I have also tried saying no to hte uninstaller option but to no avail.  Here is what I have tried: The following drivers0mca09w81.exethe Z380Z480Z580.....exe drivers from the chinese sitethe original Windows 8.0 drivers in d:\driversthe 32bit version of the driver With each driver above I have tried: Removed device from device manager, uninstalled webcam software, rebooted, reran the driver installer - FAILAs Above and run the installer as "administrator" - FAILAs Above but set the installer to compatability mode (Windows 7) - FAIL I know for sure that the camera is fine,  the wires are sound etc.  One minute it was working - upgrade to 8.1 and it stopped........... This is a driver installer issue but I am not sure how to proceed.  I have considered tracing the installer to see the registry keys it tries and changing the permissions on these I have also considered changing... This would be my first time posting here so I will try to be exact in my problem which is driving me nuts. I have recently done a re-install of windows 7 home premium with sp1 on my idea pad z580 (this was necessary as windows update was not functioning). after all was said and done all my programs and files and setting were saved except my integrated webcam was not working. Yes i made sure the softkeys had it turned on. This shouldn't have been a problem I went to lenovo and downloaded the recomended driver. The wizard ran with no problem. Windows then went to install the driver and it failed. If I go to device manager and have windows search for a newer version of driver it tells me I have the most current one...Yet it continuously fails to install it.  Help!!! I'm out of ideas. This should be a pretty routine thing to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Camera not recognized - Driver Problem (Ideapad Z580)

Hi Wilson,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that the webcam is not turning ON or the driver is not getting installed in your new Z580 Laptop, I suggest you to press Fn+Esc keys together to enable the webcam first. Then try to install the driver, while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select ?Run as administrator? option to get it installed without any error.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Hello. I have an Ideapad Z580. Formerly I had W8 installed and now I have 8.1. In both operation systems, I get an error message about my camera. It says ''Please connect a camera to get started'', that is it does not recognize it. And I believe it is all about the driver. See the pictures below. http://i40.tinypic.com/2m76vqx.png http://i43.tinypic.com/2v1ulxw.png After saying ''checking application profile'', it shuts itself down instantly. No other driver is broken like this, they finish. But this one is always cut in half. How can I get a proper driver of camera for W8.1? Thank you! http://i39.tinypic.com/nv7fcw.png

Try re-installing the webcam driver for your laptop model from Samsung's website. If that doesn't fix the problem. the webcam may be turned off. Look for a combo key (Fn key) which toggles the webcam on and off.message edited by phil22

I´ve upgraded my S40-70 to Windows 10 and my front camera is not working. I´ve already downloaded and tried to install the drivers suggested by the support page, but I was not able to do it. The setup program shows the message "This utility cannot be used on this machine" and nothing else happens. How can I solve this, please?

Hi danielfontolan,

Your system is not certified as win 10 compatible:

This will definitely mean that there will always be issues as long as your system is not fully confirmed for windows 10.

I receive a 'USB device not recognized' when I connect the video camera to a USB port. It doesn't matter whether or not the SD card is in the camera, as least so far as the not recognized message.

I tried removing the device in the control panel and adding it again. It doesn't work. Unfortunately the camera, while nice and working, is a "DVC/Digital Video Camera" generic type of device. So I am unsure what driver to use or how to load the driver onto the camera. The Driver Easy software did not find the device or load a driver onto it.

That is basically where I am at. I would be grateful if someone knew how to troubleshoot. (Buy the device that allows you to plug the SD card into the computer like a flash drive? But then what...) I have a side business that would benefit from my posting videos on my web site and YouTube, which is zero budget and I'm afraid I'll have to break down and buy a better video camera. Thanks, Mike

Answer:Video camera works, but Windows 10 not recognizing it

USB Device Not Recognized is usually a problem with the USB port, USB cable, or the device itself. Have you tried it on another computer and have you tried another USB cable?

You could buy a USB card reader, it would be just as easy as plugging in the camera, just make sure it matches the type of card you are using: https://www.walmart.com/search/?page=1&query=usb+card+reader&sort=price_low

Does it camera have a brand or model number of any kind?

I recently installed Windows 7 on my A300, which had the Chicony Camera Assistant Software.

I couldn't upgrade but had to do a hard install. Somehow, the video part of my webcam is working, but the computer is not detecting my mike.
I downloaded the software but still am having no success with the computer detecting a mic. Video and mic worked perfectly when Vista was on my computer.

Any thoughts?

Hello all, I have a IdeaPad Z580 with a i5 and no video. When I hit the power button, the fan turns on (full speed) and the lights above the keyboard light up and the leds on the front light up, but no video on the screen.  I tried hooking it up to an external monitor, nothing. Since it is out of warranty, I disassembled it to check the motherboard.  It has a part number of DA0LZ3MB6G0 Rev G.  I've come across a few of these refurbed motherboards on ebay for $120 and up. My question is, since this is an i5, the video is built on the CPU. (I do not have the Nvidia 630M/635M) chip. Could the no video issue be the CPU or the motherboard?  I don't want to spend $120+ on a replacement motherboard, and have it not fix anything... then have to spend $100 for a new CPU.  Has anyone else had this issue with this specific motherboard? If so, what was the fix? Without being able to boot into the BIOS, I don't know the specs 100% but from what I can remember, they are as follows: Lenovo IdeaPad Z580Windows 7 64biti5-3210M w/ HD4000 graphics8GB (2x4GB) DDR3750GB HDD

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Z580 with no video output

It doesnt have to be necessarily related to the motherboard. It could even be a RAM failure or just the HDD not powering up to boot.

You will have to do this step by step -

1) Disconnect power supply and battery. (Is the battery easily removable?)
2) Try to start the system ONLY on power supply.
3) Try to start the system ONLY on battery.

If above tests, dont show anything then,

1) Remove RAM and HDD.
2) If you have multiple RAM sticks, try one at a time and see if your system boots up or shows something.
3) If nothing happens on testing with RAM, remove both, attach HDD and boot up and see what happens.
4) Do you have a recovery drive (external USB/DVD). Attach that and see if your system boots.

You can try to create a bootable diagnostics from this link and see if it helps in booting up properly -

Hi! yesterday updated to 10586 my L930 and, as before, the Windows Camera App doesnt record audio on video shooting. I know my phone is affected by the L930 speakerphone mic problem, but until previous versin of Windows Camera, audio was recorded at least in the other channels. No surround settings to manage in 10581/6. But after the last two updates, WinCamera is not recording audio. Cortana Works ok. And I cant install Lumia Camera, because it is just showing a "move to Windows Camera" message. The thing is, I already reported this through Insider Comments, but, I need to film video with audio urgently, any other idea to do it? maybe other App?

Answer:digital camera or video camera?

I would highly recommend the Sony DSC-P8 Cybershot digital camera. Just bought one and it is fantastic, great quality still photography and pretty good video. With a big enough memory stick you can have 90mins of high quality video, so you don't need to bother with a seperate video camera...However, see my posting about the sony driver issues relating to data transfer in XP.

I have a digial camera software installed on my computer and have no problems manipulating software, drive, camera pictures, transferring, printing etc.
However, I recently installed a SONY video camera software on the same computer and have no problems transferring from video camera to computer, but cannot print or transfer videos to DVDs, the error is 'CANNOT FIND DRIVE E" and there are no other drives to choose from.
Should I stick with the computer transfer or should I purchase some other product to transfer videos?
HELP! My video camera is full and I don't want to delete anything!

Answer:Digitial camera/video camera

Once you get it on the computer you can do anything you like with the videos. Download them to the computer to free up the card. You can then make a DVD or whatever you want to do with the videos.

Even if you could transfer directly to DVD you would have to check the DVD carefully before dumping the files from the card. The computer as an intermediate step is the safest way to do it.

If the videos are important to you at all I wouldn’t trust them to a single source like a DVD.

Thanks in advance for any and all help. Here are some quick details to set the stage for this help thread:

-I am using a Sony DCR-TRV120 Digital Handycam.
-Here are a few of my system specs:

Operating System: WinXP SP2
CPU Speed: Intel Pentium 4 2.00GHz
Harddrive space: 120GB & 40GB
RAM Memory: 1024 MBytes

Now, for my problem. I was recently able to capture some video (one hour and thirty minutes worth or so), but when I played it back on my computer, the first part of it seemed fine, I could hear it and see it (the video seemed to freeze a tiny bit though), but not too far into the video file the audio disapeared. I have since deleted that file, so I can't give specific details on that anymore.

Anyway, I am now trying to capture again, and nothing I use seems to be doing the job. Windows Moive Maker wont even load for me, it freezes and it's a pain in the butt to get it to shut down. I am trying to use WinDV right now, but I get an error that says "Error: Can't find DV output pin". I have tired using Vegas Video 3.0, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything either, I just have a black screen shown, and nothing is actually being recorded to my computer. I've also tried to use some sort of Nero program, I forget the name of it right now, but it's doing the same thing as Vegas Video.

When I plug my camera into my computer and turn it on, I DO get the box asking me which program to use with it, so I know that my computer is conn... Read more

Answer:z580 - Which password to use if laptop is in safe mode ideapad z580 ?

hi akshu_13,

Welcome to the Forums.

If you're running on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, you should use the same password that you've set on your account.

If you're running on Windows XP, by default, you will see an additional Administrator account and the password is set to none. If you'll be using your own account and not the Administrator one then you should use the same password like in normal Windows.

Note:
Windows 8/8.1 can use a Microsoft Account and a Local Account. If you boot in Safe Mode only (not Safe Mode with Networking), you won't be able to use the Microsoft Account login as it requires internet access to verify your credentials, thus, you will need to use a Local Account.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Regards

I have a Panasonic digital video camera and I want to transfer the video onto my computer so I can edit it. I have Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle software. I went to Fry's Electronics and the guys there told me what type of cord to buy and it plugged into my camera okay, but not my hard drive. I think it needs to plug into a FireWire port (???) but the only types of plug spaces on my hard drive looked like typical USB plugs. Does this mean that my computer is not meant to transfer video? Can I buy something so that I can connect to a FireWire connection? Is this expensive? Or do you know of any way to transfer video with a normal USB cord? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Answer:Transferring video from digital video camera

Welcome!

As we have no idea what model of camera (Panasonic make many different models) or what computer hardware or version of Windows you have, it's going to be very difficult to be accurate with advice.

Depending on computer specs and operating system version, buying a PCI internal firewire card should be quite cheap.

The problem happens in both windows store apps and .exe programs. Camera doesn't work in Chrome, Edge,Skype(both store and .exe). I recently gave my laptop in for servicing at an authorized service center(Just a speaker issue). Could it be that they could have unplugged the camera cable? I also saw a post referring to the same laptop but in that post only store apps had this problem. Already tried reinstalling driver, enabling permissions etc. If I remember correctly this problem started after the fall creators update. When the camera is used the white led does blink, even though an image doesn't show. Please help me with this.

Hi all,

the Camera App on my Windows 10 somehow starts directly with the front-facing camera. I'm using a surface pro 4. I remember, it used to start with the main camera as default. Is there anyway to configure it to start with the main camera. I couldn't figure it out from the setting. (I'm not the selfie type, so this annoys me quite a bit).

Bests, bbbhh

I have a Lumia 930/icon with the latest wp 10 preview. By every single update brings me worse and worse surprises in camera app. I think I don't need to explain what's the problem if you use it. My question is, how can I use the original Lumia camera app or can I remove the microsoft camera app?

Answer:How can I back to Lumia camera from windows/microsoft camera?

Not sure what problems you're facing with the default Windows camera on WM10 but currently Lumia camera 5 does not work with WM10. You can use Lumia Camera Classic or Lumia Camera Beta instead.

Hi all,

I am going to be starting to convert my old VHS and Video Camera footage to DVD and I have never done it before. I have bought the software to do it, but how do I know if I’ve got the right connections on my computer to do this. Is there a software (or download) that can check my system and tell me if I have the right connections?

Also, anyone know what leads I would need? I’m presuming the Audio/visual leads (1x red/yellow/white) but the software I bought hasn’t got the best instructions in the world.

I am running:
Windows XP Home (SP2),
40g HD (25g free),
512mb Ram,
2.00 GHz.

If anyone can help I would but very grateful. Thanks for your time.

Hi, I have a Sony DCR HC19E video camera and I was wondering if I could use this as a web cam. If this is possible can anyone tell me how to go about setting it up for use on Windows Live Messenger. Thanks

Answer:Video Camera As Web Cam

Better to buy a dedicated webcam I think. It might be possible but a video camera is far too high resolution for webcam use. And webcams are cheap if that sort of thing interests you.

Anyone knows an easy way to burn video clips (mov) from a digital camera (Minolta) using a CD burner, into VCD. I have 2 computers with CD burners, but no DVD burner. An old desktop with Win 98SE and an I/O Magic CD burner, and Roxio Easy CD 6; which ask for mpg files. The new laptop (Toshiba, Win XP) has a built-in CD burner ( don't know what brand or software!); have not tried using it to make VCD yet.Is converting to mpg a must-do first? And how - any shareware?

Question: my video camera

I am trying to have a video call on skype on my computer which I have done many times before. There is a built in camera and skype says that it does not see a working camera. Is there some simple solution to this problem?

Answer:my video camera

Hello and welcome to TSG.

As the camera is built-in, I`m guessing you`ve got a laptop but it`s always worth putting a bit of info about your machine if you ever need to pose another problem.

Make sure the camera is properly installed using the correct and up-to-date drivers and that it`s enabled in the system and using any toggle switches that may be on the keyboard. Use Device Manager to confirm that it`s seen by the system correctly using WinKey + Pause/Break and clicking the Hardware tab, then Device Manager.

I don`t know Skype`s software setup or configuration but check if there`s a drop-down menu somewhere that you have to choose your particular camera model or something along those lines.

Answer:Video Camera to PC

Don't know, as we can't see your camera. (the crystal ball doesn't seem to work)

What options does it give?
What type is it? What options do you have on your PC?
What operating system are you using?

Very few PC's actually have SVideo inputs.

I have a Linksys router.
I saw really good prices on D-Link Video cameras for video surveillance.

Is it possible for me to purchase the D-Link camera and use it with the router?

Is software compatible? Will the cameras interact?

Thank You for any help on this!

Michael

Answer:Video Camera set up

You didn't post a single model number so not sure how we can give you any exact answers.

But, yes of course a D-Link product will work with Linksys router; they don't lock the camera's down to only work with their own routers.

P.S. the software runs on a computer, not on the router. You need to make sure your computer meets the requirements for the software.

Question: Hi 8 video camera

I borrowed a Hi8 video camera for a trip andnow I'm wondering how to transfer the tape to my computer. My laptop and the camera have a S-Video port, and camera has an A/V out and an RFU DC out. My laptop has a firewire port but the camera doesn't seem to have one. What is the easiest(cheapest) way to transfer this video. Camera is a Sony model no.CCD-TRV328
Thanks in Advance

Answer:Hi 8 video camera

The cheapest way would be to find a work/school comp to use but other than that you will need to buy a little converter box that converts the RF or digital signal into one that can be read by your computer these can be bought in lots of different flavours for firewire, usb and even plug in pci cards for a desktop pc but the firewire and usb are the ones you want for a laptop you just have to keep it safe and thay are more expensive than a pci card heres some examples-

Hi... I have just installed a PC-USB Internet Video Camera model # WC-10 ( it is a cheap webcam, about $30.00 CAD) and it uses the VP-EYE 3.0 software which has a option called Video Email. My O/S is Windows XP Pro,and I am using Dail-up as my ISP. I can not get the option video Email to work. I have D/L the lastest driver for XP for the website of the Webcam manufacturer which is www.Logitech.com . I can record a video email and save it as a .avi file which is what the tech. guy at Logitech told me I should use. Every time I go to send the video email to a friend it keeps saying that the video email has fialed and please try again. I can open and view the video email that I have saved as an .avi file on Windows Media player on my own computer, but can not send as video email.

Do anyone have any suggestions......

Thanks

Answer:Video email using a web camera

You might want to archive the .avi as .zip or something similar, using Winzip or the built-in archiver in Windows XP. This will not only make the size smaller, but chances are it will co-operate better. You could then add it as a regular attachment which the person receiving it would have to unzip.

This is also useful because a lot of anti-virus and anti-spam programs will not let the .avi attachment through, as it is used as a vehicle for viruses from time to time. This might also be why your email is failing.

Lastly, it might be failing because it is timing out...If the .avi file is large enough. Having a dial-up connection certaintly won't help you send it

I'm looking for my first digital video camera. It will be used mostly for casual family stuff and a blog. I'd like to find one that's...

... very portable

... durable

... got a view screen that flips around so I can film myself talking

... HD recording capable

... got very good sound quality

... under $500

Is that last one a deal breaker? I see cams in the Best Buy flyer that seem to fit this list but I'm not sure how good they are.

Answer:Looking for video camera suggestion

If you see one that you like at Best Buy, then compare it against the price at Amazon.com -- there's a chance you can save some $$$ that way, between lower prices, no tax and free shipping.

Any number of cameras would probably fit the bill for what you want.

Some may be heavier than others.

I am about to start doing a whole heap of things eg going to the capital city... as boring as Canberra is.. i would like a record of it... Ive been looking to buy a video camera for a while now, im on a limited budget and have absolutely no experience what so ever i can get cameras near cost for a relative, i have no idea what to get... i mean ive seen video cameras for $30.. surely they have to be junk, but i couldnt tell the difference! what should i look for when buying a video camera? my budget? around... *cough* $100 *cough* I dont need anything fancy or High def, a camera that works on memory card is fine, discs fine too but i cant stand tape... too bloody hard to work with... something small would be good too... so what specifications should i look for?

Answer:Buying a Video camera

IMy recommendation is to wait til the budget gets up to around $200 and buy a miniDV tape camera before they quit selling them. MiniDV is small, pretty inexpensive as camcorders go, start up faster and the DV quality is still better than the MPEG from a DVD or hard drive camera. The tapes are a lot more durable than DVD too.

Or wait til more affordable SD cameras with better features come out. It seems to me that a lot of the cheaper card cameras don't have zoom lenses or image stabilization. Nothing gets me seasick faster than looking at shaky video, and a little camera that's hand held will shake like mad.

Or consider the video mode on a regular digital camera. Newer compact cameras can take some decent videos. This site http://www.steves-digicams.com/cameras_dig2008.html offers AVI's you can download and check. It costs more than your budget, but you get a decent camera with the ability to shoot vdieo to SD card.

Dropped my Panasonic HDD HDC TM15 video camera and unfortunately after the drop the LCD stopped working. The unit works normally when I connected the camera component output to a monitor. SO.... my question is should I just buy another camera since this one spent $250 or is there a viable repair solution that does not cost close to the same ($150-200) as buying new? The LCD seems to be okay and I believe the issue is within the camera since a rattling from a loose internal compement is now present.

Answer:Dropped HDD Video Camera

If it were me, and being a geek I'd try to take it apart to see if that part rattling around is a componant that can be just slotted back in, Unlikely but I'd enjoy finding out.

Its going to cost you money to have someone look at it then repair it, if its repairable as I am sure you know.
If you can afford it get a new one and use this one for a web cam, static shot, security camera.....heck find a good reason to buy a new one !!!!!

This time make sure its made of rubber.

Ok this is uncharted waters for me so I figured that I would come to the best place online for help, so here I am.

I have this video camera that has the capabilities to hook up to my tv via video/audio jacks. Is there a video card that I can get for my computer and be able to watch and edit my movies on my computer ? So naturally here comes more questions.

1)Could someone point me in the right direction if there is such a card ?
2) Would I have to remove my current video card ?
3) are there programs out there where I can edit my videos, add music and voice to and such ? And if so could I be pointed in the direction of those as well

As you can see I am a total newbie in this specific department, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hi all,

Some of this isn't computer related and I'm not really sure if this belongs in this forum or hardware but it's all interrelated and related to using software so here goes...

We have a Samsung VP-W80 PAL Hi8 8mm Camcorder. I have two 90-minute Hi8 tapes and one HS90.

On the computer, we have a Winfast TV2000 XP Expert video capture card which is currently in the desktop that has a 16Mb video card and is running Windows 98SE. I can move it into a machine that runs 2000 or XP and can insert the 128Mb video card when it arrives.

What I am trying to do is to take the video footage off the camera and onto video on a VCR tape or the computer. Eventually, I would like to convert all the footage to computer files of some sort but I would like to clear at least one tape by Saturday.

Basically, I don't know anything about transferring video off our camera and these are things I can think of that I need to know:

-what software I need, such as will Windows Movie Maker do it,

-where would I find Windows Movie Maker on our XP if it's there and if it isn't, why wouldn't it be (we have SP2) and how do I get it there,

-how much space would I need and can it be roughly calculated according to the time amount to transfer,

-what do I need to know about codecs,

-does my camera record the movie digitally (the camera says digital on the

-where would I find Windows Movie Maker on our XP if it's there and if it isn't, why wouldn't it be (we have SP2) and how do I get it thereClick to expand...

On XP sp2, Start. Programs. Movie Maker should be there. Right click and 'send to desktop create shortcut' if you're going to be using it a lot, it saves having to find it in the program list

-how much space would I need and can it be roughly calculated according to the time amount to transferClick to expand...

If you're capturing in AVI, this will use about 13gb of disk space per hour of footage.

-does my camera record the movie digitally (the camera says digital on the
side but uses a tape so I imagine that's something to do with how the movie is recorded onto the tape)Click to expand...

It depends on the particular Hi8 format.

-how much quality loss will I get if I record to VCR tape now and transfer to computer laterClick to expand...

Probably more than if you capture straight to the computer. Analogue to analogue is not lossless, like when copying an audio tape, the sound quality is never quite as good as the original, and if you copy the copy, a little more is lost. The good news is that once it's captured to the computer, it's in digital format and subject to a few exceptions, this is lossless (one exception is if you compress it, for example into MPEG, WMV etc)... How can I connect my old Curtis Mathis (Panasonic) Camcorder to my Dell inspiron 1520 laptop?

Answer:Analog Video Camera to XP

What is the model # of the Panasonic camera? Does the camera have a USB out port? Or does the camera have Firewire (1394) out? If so, you just need the USB or Fire Wire cable. If you don't know if your camera has that, check your manual, or go to the Pansonic site, type in your make and model # and download the manual.

I have a DXG-308 digital camera that has video clip recording ability (approx 80 sec.) no sound capability. I have never used this feature before. So I recorded a 10 second clip and have tried to download it to my computer with the software and usb cable provided. It won't download. I am able to download stills with no problem. I have installed all drivers and programs that came with the camera. I have been to the manufacturer's web site and followed all instructions....no help. I have tried several programs to retrieve the video such as windows media player, windows movie maker, Nero, real 1, veo digital studio (web cam software), and so on. I'm running windows xp. When I open up 'my computer' it listed my camera as a removable disc and shows that the video clip is there on the camera (avi format). Each of the programs I have tried show that the file is there. However when I select the clip to download I get " (program name) has encountered a problem and needs to close..." With the veo digital studio, I somehow got it to download but when I tried to access it i got this message: access violation at address 046A6782 in module 'GTCODEC.DLL'. Read of address 0021202C. ??? What do I do now?

Hi all,

Well I have just started a new job as a Media Technician and have encountered my first major problem. It seems that all of the Canon camcorders we have don't want to connect to the computers. The models are MVX330i and 660i. I have tried to connect to PC and Macs and neither are working. It should be just plug and play right? Well for some odd reason there it doesn't. I am trying to connect via firewire and have also tested USB 2.0 connections to. Apparently they were working before the summer break and now don't.

If anybody has any info on these cameras, this error or anything else relating to the problem I would really appreciate the help. The previous technician cannot figure it out either...
